Starting point is 00:00:14 what we don't know, and how messy it can all be. I like to sleep in late and sleep early. Is there a chronotype for that, or am I just depressed? Health stuff is about learning, laughing, and feeling a little less alone. Listen on the I-heart rate.

I sat down with psychologist Dr. Steve Poulter to unpack shame, anxiety, and the emotional
Starting point is 00:01:19 pain men were never taught how to name. Part of the way through the Valley of Despair is realizing this has happened, and you have to make a choice whether you're going to stay in it or move forward. A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers, but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight.
Starting point is 00:01:48 So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York. since the son of Sam, available now. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yeah. Just to be here in a second, shallame in a car. Peace to the planet. Guess what day it is? Guess what day it is? Hump day!
Starting point is 00:02:28 Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. How y'all feel out there? I feel blessed black and highly favored. Happy to be here another day to serve our beautiful listeners. Good morning. Yes, good morning. Hopefully you guys are feeling good. It's the middle of the week.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Humph day. Man, one of my favorite things to do. When we get here in the morning, it's like, you know, just talking to like all the construction workers and, you know, the blue collar folks that, you know, working around this area. It's just always a lively conversation. Yeah, what you're talking about this morning?
Starting point is 00:02:55 I don't want to say. How are you going to start like that? I think they're building a city downstairs by the ground, by the way. They've been building for years. You've been on YouTube, way too, God-Deges. A city? I don't know, but they're building something down.
Starting point is 00:03:07 They've built it. I don't know. You don't think none of them brothers would tell us that they were building a city underground? Did you ask? Why would I ask that? We don't build it underground? A city?
Starting point is 00:03:17 I don't know. I did ask what project they was working on, but I didn't think it was a city underground. I don't know what they built in. They've been building under there for like a year, over a year and it's mad. No, it's an oyster bar. That's it?
Starting point is 00:03:28 I don't know what it is. I know next door I'm supposed to be an oyster bar. I don't know what else called. All right. But yeah, slew to all the blue-collar workers that are working around the building that I chat with in the morning.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Sloat to y'all, man. Absolutely. It is the construction workers, a lot of construction workers. Yeah, and I was going to say salute to all the nurses out there as well. They're still striking out there. Can I say one more thing about the construction workers?
Starting point is 00:03:48 Sure. It used to be a lot more than about a year ago. What was trying to say? There used to be a lot. more of them of Latino and Mexican descent. Ice been all over the place. Boy, oh boy. That has really thinned out.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Let me tell my friends, every time you see ICE, you don't got to text me. Like, I am a citizen. Nothing we can do about it. Yeah, I'm a citizen. No, no, no, no, no. I can see why they're concerned about you.
Starting point is 00:04:10 No, no, no. The concern is real. Yesterday, but, like, just let you know ICE is in this part of Jersey. The concern is real. This part of it. I'm like, look, I'm good. I swear, I'm a citizen and I'm not, I'm not Latino.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I'm black. I swear, I swear. I swear. The fact that you have to come in here every day and continue to tell us that is I'm starting to really question you. I already know you're Dominican, but the fact you keep fighting it is wild. No, I have to question it because people believe what you say and then they question that. What you mean? They'd be like, Shaulamay and say, I'm like, do not listen to Charleston.
Starting point is 00:04:38 He's a liar. Wow. All right. Let's get the show. You just want to disregard your whole heritage. That's crazy. I'm not like. But salute to the nurses.
Starting point is 00:04:45 You were talking about the nurses. Oh, yeah. The nurses are back on strike. Actually, one of them actually hit me yesterday. and I really would love to go down there and DJ if I can. I just need to speak to somebody who's in charge that knows the setup. If the equipment there, I don't know. So please, one of the nurses hit me.
Starting point is 00:05:01 She said, actually, she was one of the people that helped me with my daughter Peyton. And she was like, yeah, the nurses hear us each and every morning on their way down. And they appreciate the support. But I would love to go there. I just need to know what equipment, what time I can go. I will definitely turn it into a block party. You don't need to be down there working illegally. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:16 We just had this conversation 30 seconds ago. What? All right. We don't need you down there. We don't need you down there working illegally. Okay. What are you talking about? Because where you go, do-d-do-do-do-do.
Starting point is 00:05:27 You know what? Follow. You know what? Let's get the show crack on you. All right, we got front-page news when we come back. Mimi, we'll be breaking everything down. And today is the Icons birthday from Queens. A couple of them.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Of course, we got Slick Rick. It's his birthday. He's not from Queens. He's from UK London. But we have LL Cool J's birthday, man. Salute to the OG, the Goet. LL Koo-J, today is his birthday. He's 58 years old today.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Let's play some classic Ella. Oh, so you can't get no better than that right there. You can, but that's a classic right there. It's doing it. It's a breakfast club. Good morning. You know what so crazy. We don't talk enough about how that's one of the sexiest records ever created
Starting point is 00:06:05 of any genre of music. If I had to tell somebody this is what sexy sounds like. Oh, doing it? Yeah. I would play doing it. Yeah, absolutely. I'm trying to think of anything else. Yeah, not doing it.
Starting point is 00:06:15 It's that one. Well, good morning, everybody. We are the Breakfast Club. getting some front page news. Quick sports. Mike Tomlin steps down as head coach of the Steelers after 19 seasons. Legend.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Luke to Mike Tomlin, man. I wonder if he's going to pack it up and retire or if he's going to another team. I have no idea. I wonder, wonder, wonder. What's up, Mimi? Mimi Brown. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:06:37 M.V. Shalameen. How y'all doing this morning? Good. Bless Black and highly favorite. All right. Well, we begin this morning with breaking developments still out of Minnesota,
Starting point is 00:06:46 where multiple crises are now colliding. and where tensions with the Trump administration continues to escalate. Now, at the center of all of this, of course, the death of Renee Good, a Minneapolis resident shot and killed during an ICE operation and the fallout that's followed. Now, this morning, we're learning that turmoil has now reached the Justice Department itself. According to the New York Times, the top federal prosecutor overseeing Minnesota's fraud investigation has resigned, along with five other career prosecutors. Now, the lead prosecutor, his name is Joseph Thompson.
Starting point is 00:07:18 he had spent more than a decade in the U.S. Attorney's Office. Now, these resignations reportedly came after pressure from the DOJ to investigate Renee Goods' widow, while prosecutors say there was little interest in fully investigating the ICE officer involved in the shooting. A former Minnesota Justice Department official is calling this new development disgusting. Let's listen to what he had to say. I will tell you, that is disgusting to focus an investigation on the, widow of somebody who was shot by a federal agent, the investigation of Ms. Goods killing requires really good investigators working together with other really good investigators.
Starting point is 00:08:02 And it's pretty clear to me that that is going to be extremely difficult to accomplish with this many people gone and without the state being involved. You know, it's interesting, maybe when they say investigate a crime that we all saw on video, I wonder what that investigation consists of. Yeah. I mean, you know, when there's a crime, any crime, right? We still have to investigate it. But what we're hearing is the Trump administration thinks that they can bypass that whole investigative process.
Starting point is 00:08:31 You know, so however you feel either way, there still needs to be some level of, you know, looking into the facts. Absolutely. But again, all of this unfolding as Minnesota remains a hotbed for the Trump administration's immigration agenda. Now, DHS, they are now, the department. Department of Homeland Security. They are now moving to end temporary protected status. That's TPS for all Somali immigrants. That's a decision that could affect thousands of families, many of them in Minnesota, which is home to one of the largest Somali communities in the country. Now, TPS allows people to live and work legally in the U.S. when their home country is too
Starting point is 00:09:08 dangerous to return to. Now, under this move, Somali immigrants would lose their legal status and work permits by March 17th. The administration is urging them to leave voluntarily or face arrest and deportation. Now, at the same time, President Trump, he is threatening immediate financial consequences. He says as of February 1st, Minnesota and other so-called sanctuary cities could see federal funding cut off. Let's listen to what he had to say. Additionally, starting February 1st, we're not making any payments to sanctuary cities
Starting point is 00:09:39 or states having sanctuary cities because they do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens and it breeds fraud and crime and all of the other problems that come so we're not making any payment to anybody that supports sanctuary you can't say that's not political if all the states are blue
Starting point is 00:09:59 and if he's saying he's doing that because of fraud concerns and how come he's not doing that in Mississippi? Exactly, exactly. And the administration says, though, this is only the beginning of, President J.D. Vance, he says immigration enforcement will soon start going door to door and confirming plans that there will be expansion of these raids. Let's quickly listen to what he had to say about that. I think we're to see those deportation numbers ramp up as we get more and
Starting point is 00:10:24 more people online working for ice, going door to door and making sure that if you're an illegal alien, you've got to get out of this country. And if you want to come back, apply through the proper channel. To my knowledge, and maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they couldn't go in your house. Is that wrong? Is that right? That is not wrong. They need a warrant. They need some sort of, you know, legal paperwork to enter your residence. And that's what's happening a lot in Minnesota right now. They're being reminded of their rights a lot because you've seen the video, right? On social media, people are having their doors busted in, their windows broken and their cars. It's a lot of illegal activity going on with these ice arrests. FYI, that's what the Nazis used to do in Germany.
Starting point is 00:11:08 They used to go, you know, door to door and do house to house searches, by the way. Right. But I wonder what's legal with that, right? Because if I'm a, you know, a homeowner and I have a legal license and somebody breaks in my door without a warrant, you know, what line is that? Now, how do you draw that line? I have no idea.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Yeah. It's so blurred. It's so blurred right now. Minnesota officials say the state is being punished for pushing back and warn that random traffic stops, racial profiling, and the rest of U.S. citizens. They are only getting worse. So we will continue to watch what that looks like.
Starting point is 00:11:42 All right. There have to be oil in Minnesota. I mean, none of this makes any sense. I mean, does this Trump dislike the Somalians that much? Is he trying to just crack from Epstein files that much? Like, none of this makes any sense. No, no, no. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Well, thank you, Mimi. Uh-huh. Coming up at 7. What if checking someone's background came as routine as checking their social media? One state is moving in that direction, and we'll explain what I mean in the next hour. All right. Everybody else, get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:12:06 $800-585. 105.1. If you need to vent, phone lines wide open again. 800 585105.151. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed. I hate the way that you walk,

Starting point is 00:13:16 I'm a radio, man. And I don't listen to that, so, but y'all be throwing from sidelines, I'm like, man, what's real and what ain't real, but whatever it is, man. Y'all are too funny jokers, man. What you mean funny?
Starting point is 00:13:28 Like, funny? Like, we make you laugh funny? Or, like, you know, like, you know? Oh, yeah, y'all definitely make me laugh, man. Y'all definitely got me laugh. I'm like, man, man,
Starting point is 00:13:37 I don't know it, but, man, y'all just funny, man. I like what y'all do, man. That's because gay means happy. That's right. And happiness is contagious. So we come in here happy and we project it on to you, sir.
Starting point is 00:13:50 So that makes you gay. You gay. Damn. You know what, man? Hey, you know what, Solomon? I'm not even going to tech with you because you're a professional techer. And I'm a professional trucker.
Starting point is 00:14:01 No, I said gay means gay doesn't mean happy. You're not happy. You're all gay cousin A's. I'm not. Hey, hey, hey. You know semantics, brother. You got them. Blow the horn for us, A's come on.
Starting point is 00:14:15 There you go. You just blow me. That ain't even my train horn. I got a train horn back there. You didn't give him me the right blow. Give him the right blow. You know what I'm talking? Call back another day and give him the right blow.
Starting point is 00:14:27 That's what I'm talking about, man. That's what I'm talking about right there, man. Hey, y'all be safe about here, man. You too. You too. You say for them rules, Ace. Hello, who's this? This is Danger Royal.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Angel from where you're calling from? Yeah, bro. I love the station, bro, but you guys talk too much politics, man. I just want to hear music when I turn you guys on. You just want to hear music? You know, there's A-Hard Radio app. There's other ads. We talk about what's really trending out in the world what people need to know about.
Starting point is 00:14:55 What about politics don't you like, John? I hear you, man. I understand, but this station, I love to hear the music, man. I'm tired of what's going on out there. I understand what you. Because you don't know what's true, what's AI. I understand what you're saying, but you can't escape the news, my brother, and politics is pop culture, so I feel like we give you a little bit of everything, you know?
Starting point is 00:15:14 You can turn on this. I respect that, bro. Yes, trust me. I respect that, but you got to put more music on, man, because I fall asleep listening to this. Try cocaine. That might work. I gave a shout out. Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Angel Arroyo from Patterson, nasty nays to place, Key Street up. Okay. Bye, man. Have a great day. All right We're going to taste, sir 800585105. What if you need to vent?
Starting point is 00:15:40 Hit us up now It's the breakfast club Good morning. It's a new day. This is your time to get it off your chest. Wait, wake up!
Starting point is 00:15:47 Whether you're mad or blessed. It's time to get up and get something. Call up now. 800 585151. We want to hear from you on the breakfast club. Hello, who's this? Child is.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Hello? Hey, what's your name, bro? Vernon. Vernon, get it off your chest. Hey man, I just want to say I want you guys to check out my wife Happy, she's in a documentary on HBO Max
Starting point is 00:16:11 About being adopted Okay You know, as I'm just trying to shine a light on it What's the name of the documentaries, sir? Secrets Unlocked Secrets Unlocked. Secretes Unlocked.
Starting point is 00:16:22 That's on HBO Max Okay, interesting What's her name? Congratulations Her mother's name is Zoe Sean And she came from a real, real rich family And they kept it a secret that she was adopted. So her mother wrote a book, and Oprah's people reached out to us
Starting point is 00:16:39 and told her that she wanted to do a documentary. So there's a documentary on HBO Max now about it. I'm looking at it now. It's called Unlocked Family Secrets, actually. Yes, episode four. Watch Spilerl Six Families. They reveal, unpack, and confront their households' tightly concealed secrets. Oh, did you learn anything new about your family that you didn't know?
Starting point is 00:16:58 My wife had already told me what we got married. she had disclosed a story to me, but nobody knew about it, so everybody knows about it now. So I was just trying to shine the light on it for everybody else to check it out. Which one is your wife, is her dad saved her from the streets
Starting point is 00:17:11 in the script club? No, no, episode four. She announced her wedding, something. She announced her wedding in secret midwives. Huh? She married Stan Shaw.
Starting point is 00:17:22 It's a celebrity, the actor. Dad, do I have any siblings? What's wrong with you? This name of them all. Just got to keep on. Oh, I see it. The daughter's secret. I see her.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Yeah, yeah, don't it's secret. Okay, got you. I see here. All right, I'm going to check that out. All right. Thank you, brother. Yes, sir. If y'all were adapted, right, would y'all want to know?
Starting point is 00:17:38 Later on in life? Later on it in life. I mean, because the older you get, the more you realize, like, well, some people realize they're not a part of the family. You grow up with that feeling like you don't belong. It's something different about me that, you know. But it's family blood or is family love, you know? Well, I think it's good for you because, you know, there's a lot of things genetically you might need to know about yourself.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Yeah. For health reasons, right? Not just physical, mental. So I would, yeah, I would like to know where I come from. And then some people just feel it. They feel like they're, you know what I mean. Like the guy from the grits and eggs podcast. He said that he was feeling like that, but he just, he couldn't shake the feeling, but he didn't know.
Starting point is 00:18:16 And so when he got older, they did tell him like, oh, right, yeah, you are adopted. Because would you want to dive into why my mom last me and why my mom didn't want me? Yeah. Would you want to, I don't know. It don't have, yeah, I get you. But that is interesting, though, because sometimes, most of the time, it don't have anything to do with, The child. Yeah, the parent was going through something that they couldn't handle.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Yep. Hello, who's this? Uh, good morning. This is James from North Carolina. James, what up, man? Get it off your chest, James. Yeah, I want to all that show me real quick. Hey, bro, I need for you to be a guest on that show, have I got news for you?
Starting point is 00:18:48 With Roy Wood Jr. and Amber Ruffin, I need you to, I want you to be a guest panelist on there, man. I need that in my life. You, Roy Wood, Jr., and Amber Ruffin on the same panel, man, that that'd be awesome. I like Roy and Amble a lot. They're good people. Yeah. Yeah, man, they'd be funny as I don't know what on that show, man. I think you'd be a good addition to the panel as a guest, you know.
Starting point is 00:19:10 I feel like we did panel together. When I had my talk show on Comedy Central, I feel like it was Roy Ambah and somebody else. I couldn't be wrong, though. But, yeah, I like that show. That show's very interesting. Yeah, man. And all this is all subject, but Tommy on Martin, he had a job, man. What was his job?
Starting point is 00:19:28 What did? In the first season, remember he, he, was like an administrator for the school. He invited Martin and Cole to do the whole career thing. So are you telling us that we have a little Mandela effect when it comes to Martin? We remember Tommy not having a job when he actually had one? Oh, you're right. I'm telling you, in the first season, he did have a job.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Yeah, said he had a job as a youth counselor at the Boys and Girl Club, but the running gag was that no one, especially Martin, knew exactly what he did. Yeah. And that's crazy. I do remember that episode now, but I never did. dawned on me that that that was Tommy's job because the rest of the seasons were him not having one, so I didn't even
Starting point is 00:20:06 think about that. Yeah, yeah. I had to go back and watch the old episodes to find out. You know I love black people because we wake up in the morning thinking about stuff. I was just thinking about that. You wake up in the morning, like, man, Tommy did have a job. I don't know why we keep saying Tommy ain't had no job. There's certain things as black people we have to unravel
Starting point is 00:20:22 before we even get our date started. When did it was that episode? Oh, I don't know. Jesus Christ, you woke up with this. I got to tell him that Tommy had a job. It was the first season. It was like 91.99. Jesus Christ. All right. Damn. Get it off your chest. 800-585-105-1. What's up, Lauren?
Starting point is 00:20:39 Good morning, y'all. You look like that's a... I knew y'all was going to say there. No. I think it's real cute, though. It's a cute sweater. It's not ugly. Okay, definitely. It's nice. It's very... It's not ugly.
Starting point is 00:20:48 No, first of all, this sweater is really cute. And if I didn't wear it with green pants, you wouldn't be thinking Christmas. You look like you got a tack this morning. What happened? Yeah, what is it's supposed to be like... You're holding your jury in here? You're probably...
Starting point is 00:20:59 It's not. It's a lot. I called you what you did. You told me before you were run. I did not tell you all would run. Yes, you did. You said and you should run too. Yes, but the security would handle it.
Starting point is 00:21:09 No, I thought we got jump. No, the sweater is supposed to be like this. What the hell is wrong with you? That Freddie Cougar Couture? Oh, my God. All of it. You know what I woke up in about this morning? I literally thought Freddie Cougar and I was like, they're going to say Christmas.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Definitely Christmas. The fact that I think about, I anticipate the jokes. I'm going to HR this morning, okay? That's what's happening in the ladies. You know what they're going to tell you? They didn't know the sweater, We got the ladies coming up We're talking about.
Starting point is 00:21:31 We're going to talk about Tiana Taylor because she is having to defend herself against critics who feel like the award maybe shouldn't have went to her and talking about sex and over-sexualization all these things.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Don't even pay that to my... Oh. What? I can't say that? No. I mean... Don't threaten somebody with a good time. What is you going to do? What are you going to do if they do it?
Starting point is 00:21:51 Are you allowed to say that in radio rules? Oh, okay. All right. We'll get to that next is the breakfast club. Good morning. A new year doesn't mean erasing who you were.
Starting point is 00:21:59 It means honoring what you've survived and choosing how you want to grow. It means giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding and knowing that it's okay to ask for help. I'm Mike Dolorotcha, host of Sacred Lessons. And on the podcast's Health Stuff, we're resetting the way we talk about our health. Which means being honest about what we know, what we don't know, and how messy it can all be. I like to sleep in late and sleep early. Is there a chronotype for that, or am I just depressed?
Starting point is 00:23:47 We talk to experts who share real experiences and insight. You just really need to find where it is that you can have an impact in your own life and just start doing that. We break down the topics you want to know more about. Sleep, stress, mental health, and how the world around us affects our overall health. Hey there, this is Dr. Jesse Mills, director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health and host of the mailroom podcast. Each January guys everywhere make the same resolutions. Get stronger, work harder, fix, what's broken? But what if the real work isn't physical at all? To kick off the new year, I sat down with Dr. Steve Polter, a psychologist with over 30 years' experience, helping men unpack shame, anxiety, and emotional pain they were never taught the name. In a powerful two-part conversation, we discuss why men aren't.
Starting point is 00:24:54 aren't emotionally bulletproof, why shame hides in plain sight, and how real strength comes from listening to yourself and to others. Guys who are toxic, they're immature, or they've got something they just haven't resolved. Once that gets resolved, then there comes empathy as in compassion. If you want this to be the year, you stop powering through pain and start understanding what's underneath, listen to the mailroom on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. Yeah, I'm not dumbing myself.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Damn, I'm being myself. That's course is tough. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everything. The little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that, take me through that. Where is she going? The latest with Narno Lose. Take me through that.
Starting point is 00:25:46 On the breakfast club. L.L. Cool, babe. Talk to me. All right, so yesterday we talked briefly about Tiana Taylor and Vanity Fair covering their winter issue. It had just released at the time that I started the news, so it was very brief. I wanted to go back to that and get into a conversation that I've seen happening since Tiana Taylor won her very well-deserved Golden Globe Award. So there has been a conversation which Tiana Taylor responded to in this Vanity Fair interview about her character, Perfuda Beverly Hills, in one battle after another. And if this character was over-sexualized and was just a fetish, and there is a big dialogue right now about why you're,
Starting point is 00:26:26 do black women or do black women have to play these type of roles and characters in order to get recognized by awards like the Golden Globes or the Oscars? Why can't black people just say congratulations? And that's it. Yeah. I mean, that's the conversation we had yesterday. Like, for me, watching this, I'm like, yo, like, you can have all of your opinions if you want, but do you understand how hard it is to get and achieve certain things?
Starting point is 00:26:49 Like, let her have her moment. But they did bring this up in the interview. And she says that, well, she's. tiptoe around the topic a little bit, the writer says, because Tiana Taylor wanted to be careful not to overgeneralize. So Tiana Taylor says, I think we don't enjoy seeing the harsh reality, but this is what's happening.
Starting point is 00:27:06 They're talking about the fetishes of white men on black women and black women displaying that on camera. And then she goes more directly into it. She says, another person interviewed me and mentioned something about perfuda and how people felt like she was overly horny. And I'm like, do you realize
Starting point is 00:27:22 the first thing we see her do is having a gun to a guy's head. He calls her sweet thing, are we not watching the same film? So, you know, she's basically saying that she doesn't agree, of course, she doesn't agree with a lot of their critiques. And these critiques have been happening since the movie
Starting point is 00:27:38 first came out, but they heightened when she won her Golden Globe. But they think this is something, let's look at who Tiana is anyway. Like, she is sexy. She gives that, like, in her music. And you know what I mean, that's not the only thing she gives, but that's what, you're looking at her, that's what
Starting point is 00:27:54 she leaves, but she's an actress. She played a role For her fashion to our artistry To acting to Like she's always been sexy I just don't understand why we just can't say Congratulations Why do we have to critique
Starting point is 00:28:06 Why do we have to try to diminish her light Like she did something amazing She's been doing amazing things for a long time You just can't say congrats And whether her Go ahead Oh go ahead No I'm saying
Starting point is 00:28:15 Whether her sexiness earned her A Golden Global War or not Congratulations Yeah it feels like hate Because if folks had a problem With her role How come they didn't say something Back in September
Starting point is 00:28:25 when the movie first came out. Why did they wait until she wins the Golden Globe that all of a sudden have an opinion? Also, give me more examples other than Holly Berry and Montez-Bow. Show me more women, period, who have won awards and what roles did they win them for?
Starting point is 00:28:38 Then show me the black women that won and what they won for. When it comes to the Golden Globes, I can think of Whoopi Goldberg. I can think of Jennifer Hudson. I can think of Monique, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, Regina King,
Starting point is 00:28:49 Debbie Allen, Tracy Ellis Ross, Alfred. So they always compare it to Monsterball. That's what I'm saying. It's a long list of people who did roles that had nothing to do with being over-sexualized at one Golden Globe. And I think, too, I watch Kev on stage have a conversation about this. Shout out to him about sinners and about one battle after another. And just the weight of being a black creator in any space where once you get that award,
Starting point is 00:29:15 it's not many of us who have them. So everybody has a, oh, congratulations, but I wish it wasn't this. And it's like, because a lot of, because with a, if it's not over-sexualization, or the fetching of black women, it's we playing these characters that people don't like. There's so many different conversations. A bunch of black women who won Golden Gloves and they played a variety of different characters
Starting point is 00:29:35 that have nothing to do with being over-sexualized. But that's a huge problem I feel like we have. She only won because of this. He only got that because he did this. He only did this. And I hate that conversation. People just can't be happy for somebody to say. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:47 But that's the thing, though, because if she wouldn't have won, it would have been, oh, she didn't because she was overly sexualized. Or just. If that's the case, Michael B. Jordan, shouldn't win nothing because he had sex with that white woman and he liked that white woman so much that he let her in the house and she came in there and killed everybody but that was only one Michael B. Jordan. Now I'm like to Jordan loved the beautiful black woman and he had a baby Jordan. But they was having a whole lot of sex. But then the other Michael B. Jordan ended up living happily ever after with a white woman.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Oh yeah, yeah, because the white woman, I mean the black woman died. You see what I'm saying? He killed the black woman and lived happily ever after. I don't see y'all. I don't see you. I don't see something about Michael B. Jordan winning that. Let me tell you didn't win. He didn't win. Damn. He was like, you know what? You ended up living happily ever after with a white woman. That's your price.
Starting point is 00:30:25 There you go. Damn, man. Yeah, but I mean, listen, Tiana Taylor is living in, and she keeps saying this, and I'm happy that she does. She is living all of her answered prayers, so she is not focused on this whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Now, the interview that she did with Vanity Fair, the video version of it is So Fly. They're in a church in Harlem. They also are in Red Rooster in the written part of the interview. And the choir is singing the questions to her as she's answering them. Thought this was a good way to end. They asked her about a time where she didn't believe in herself. Let's take a listen.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Tell us about the time. When you question your belief in yourself I mean, I definitely think coming into the industry at 15 years old, you know, it's a really, really young age and I have to grow up very, very fast. And the times that I've questioned myself was when that weight felt like punishment and not understanding that it was preparation. The blessings are very real. And that's why no matter what room I'm going to always represent. always bring the good news. I'm going to always
Starting point is 00:31:27 pray even when they don't clap. It's just real. Everything is happening with everything that I've been through to see everything flourish right now. It's really showing that this is what was already read for me. I'm just so grateful and just filled with
Starting point is 00:31:43 so much gratitude, you know. That's what I do what I do. Man, Tiana Taylor deserves it all. I'll knock over all this stuff with Tiana Taylor. You hear me? Now, listen. Let her be great. That she got emotional like that. the last question because how can you sing after somebody?
Starting point is 00:31:59 Like how could you sing another question? Ask another question. That wasn't the last one. Oh, man. But shout out to TT, man. Shout out to Tiana Taylor. Coming up in the next latest, we will talk about corrupt. Yesterday, we found out that he has been hospitalized
Starting point is 00:32:14 for some time, and we're going to get into the details of that. I'm going to send him some woe wishes. And let's open up the phone lines about TTI to Tia to Tiana Taylor. 800-5850-105-10. Let's have a discussion. I feel like a lot of times when we get these accolades. You don't get the same the question. When we get these atollets, why can't people just say congratulations?
Starting point is 00:32:36 And that's the question. 8505805.10. We're talking to you. Can you ask for people who've actually seen the movie to talk about it? Because there's another thing too. You could ask them. You just did. No.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Okay. Well, I wasn't trying to sing it. I want to draw to sing it. If you saw one battle after another call up and tell you. If you like the acting. 585. I thought you had to know. Oh, woo, woo, woo.
Starting point is 00:33:02 800, 585, 101. Front page news is next. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jess hilarious. Sholomey and the guy.
Starting point is 00:33:10 We are the breakfast club. Let's get in some front page news. Start off with some quick sports NFL. Mike Tomlin, he steps down as the head coach of the Steelers after 19 seasons. Wow. So I wonder if he's going to retire or if you're going to pick another team. But congratulations to that, brother. salute to Mike Tyler, man. Fantastic coach.
Starting point is 00:33:27 One of the most consistent coaches ever in the history of the NFL. I don't think the Steelers under his tenure ever had a losing season. No, they haven't. They always needed to the playoff. That's right. What's up, Mimi? Good morning, Mee, J.S. Charlemagne. How y'all doing? Good morning. Good morning. So we start this hour with new developments
Starting point is 00:33:42 in the House investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein files where the fight is now escalating on Capitol Hill. Bill and Hillary Clinton, they are refusing to testify before the House Oversight Committee, despite Republicans' warning they could be held in contempt of Congress. Now, the GOP-led committee subpoenaed both Clintons for closed-door interviews as part of Epstein's probe. Bill Clinton, he was scheduled to testify yesterday but did not appear.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Let's listen to the House Oversight Chair Committee and see what they had to say. This subpoena was voted on in a bipartisan manner by this committee. This wasn't something that I just issued as chairman of the committee. This was voted on by the entire committee in a unanimous vote of the House Oversight Committee to subpoena former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is supposed to show up tomorrow. We'll see what happens there. But with respect to the former president, he did not show up today. I think it's very disappointing. As a result of Bill Clinton not showing up for his lawful subpoena, we will move next week in the House Oversight Committee markup to hold former President Clinton.
Starting point is 00:34:53 in contempt of Congress. But isn't there a clear double standard, though, because I mean, over the last few years, we've seen President Trump and other Republicans reject congressional subpoenas. So what's the difference now? Yeah, what is the difference now? Maybe because this one is GOP led, and so they're trying to prove a point. Yeah. So Hillary Clinton is scheduled to testify today.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Her legal team has made it clear, though, that she does not plan to show up. And the Clintons, they argue that the subpoenas, they are invalid and politically motivated, saying they've already provided what little information they have in writing and are being unfairly singled out. I know Hillary tired of defending Bill Clinton's penis. I mean, that penis has gotten in so much trouble over the years. I mean, my God.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Ain't she gay now? What? All right, man. Bill Clinton. No, I'm just asking me what's the next door? I thought. I don't know. That was crazy.
Starting point is 00:35:48 All right, my dad. Sorry, Hillary. I didn't know. I thought that. All right. Well, this segue is similar, right? We're all familiar with the sex offender registry. Well, now Tennessee is taking that idea one step further.
Starting point is 00:36:02 As of January 1, Tennessee became the first state in the nation to launch a public registry for repeat domestic violence offenders. It's a new tool supporters say could help prevent future violence. So this registry was created. It was called, it's called Savannah's Law. It's named after Savannah Puckett, a 22-year-old sheriff's deputy who was murdered. by her ex-boyfriend in 2022. Now, after her death, investigators learned that her boyfriend had a history of domestic,
Starting point is 00:36:29 domestic violence and stalking information that wasn't accessible before it was clearly too late. Now, under this new law, people convicted of domestic violence at least twice are now listed in a public database run by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The registry will include the offender's name, their photo, their date of birth, and their county of conviction. It will not include their home address, social security number, or their driver's license information. And depending on the number of convictions, offenders can remain on that registry for two to 20 years.
Starting point is 00:37:03 A lawmakers say the goal is to make information easier so people don't have to dig into court records across counties to protect themselves. Right now, Tennessee is the only state doing that. Other states have tried. But backers of this law said this could become a model for the nation, especially as more states grapple with. domestic violence and public safety crisis, as this is a public issue and not a private issue. I love that. I don't know why they're waiting to tell twice, though. He should have to go on there after the first offense.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Like, why at least twice? That's a good question. I mean, you know, I guess they want to make sure that this person is a repeat offender before they add their name to this registry. A lot of people are saying that this is though towing the line between privacy and, you know, just someone can look you up. versus you actually being on their registry and something being an accident. So I guess they're saying if you do it twice, then maybe you are a domestic family.
Starting point is 00:38:00 You have a history of it. Yeah, you have a history of it, so we'll see. Or anything to keep people safe. Right. I would think that you would actually want to walk away from a relationship if you saw someone's name on that list. Absolutely. It's a good thing. And here's another new law that just took effect on January 1, this one right here in California.
Starting point is 00:38:18 And it could put real money back in people's pocket. So if you've ever ordered food through Uber Eats or DoorDash or something and it was missing the wrong order and never showed up, you probably got like a food credit instead of your money back. Well, that has now changed. Yep. Under this new law, delivery apps must issue a full refund. So the food, the fees, the taxes, and the tip will come back to your original payment method. Oh, thank you so much because, girl, they'd be trying it. They be trying it.
Starting point is 00:38:46 They definitely, definitely try it. And so here's another good thing for drivers and for workers. So that refunded tip does not come out of the driver's pocket. The app will have to eat that cost and the law. They also provide extra protection for drivers. So they will also show exactly how workers will get paid. So you'll get to know what your pay bonus is, your tips. There'll be no more guessing.
Starting point is 00:39:12 So I guess if you look in the app, sometimes you don't know how much this job is going to cost you. So you don't know if you should take it or not. So now there has to be a clear rule that you get to see how much this job is going to pay before you press. Yes, I will take it. So some clear restrictions for the app and some clear good new regulations for us, the consumers. That's only in California, right? That right now is only in California. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Yep. And before we go, there's another new lawsuit over, I don't know if anybody's ever asked this question, but why so does cost more at some stores than others. So Pepsi and Walmart, they are facing a new federal lawsuit that claims the two companies they work together, yep, to quietly cost shoppers more money, especially for people who don't shop at Walmart. So the lawsuit alleges that Pepsi gave Walmart lower wholesale prices and special deals that other retailers didn't get. So that allowed Walmart to keep Pepsi products lower and on its shelves, while shoppers who drank the same thing at different grocery stores and corner stores, they would pay more. So according to the complaint, this pricing setup has been in place since 2015. Both companies are denying any wrongdoing.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Walmart says it negotiates with everyone to keep its prices lower for customers. And Pepsi says it follows the law and treats everyone fairly. But this case is now seeking a class action status. It's still early, but that means anyone who bought Pepsi products at stores other than Walmart going back all the way to 2015 could be entitled to compensation. if the lawsuit. Yeah. Oh, listen, I'm about to get big paid, baby. You ever see your transaction lawsuits?
Starting point is 00:40:53 It'll be like a dollar. You're going to get a dollar for. Like $5, $4. Especially with so many people involved, right? But it's going all the way back to 2015. So how many years ago? That's like 11 years. I don't know what, you know.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Well, I'm going to get $11. That's what I was going to ask me how do you prove that? How do you prove this? They haven't said exactly yet how you prove it because who has a receipt from 2015? from going to the grocery store to buy Pepsi. I know somebody that can make one.
Starting point is 00:41:20 Telling you. Or if you pay with your credit card, I'm sure your credit card can actually pull them up for, you know, for years. Okay. Absolutely. So we will continue to watch that. Again, you may be entitled to compensation,
Starting point is 00:41:32 so we're always trying to help find extra money somewhere. Good. Let me get creative so I can get paid. All right. All right, y'all. Well, that is your front page news. I'm Mimi Brown.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Follow me. I'm Mimi Brown TV. For more stories. Follow the Black Information Network, download the free IHeartRadio app, or visit BINNews.com. Thank you, Mimi. Thank you, Mimi. Thank you, girl. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:41:52 And let's open up the phone lines, 800-585105.1. We were talking about Tiana Taylor saying congratulations to her, but people were upset. It feels like every time that people win something, people always critique. They always try to diminish their light. And we're asking 800-585-105-1, why does it always have to be she only won because of this? Or she won, but they always have to do this to her. Why can't people just say congratulations? Congratulations. Let's discuss. We'll take your calls when we come back as the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:42:23 It's topic time. Call 800-585-105-1 to join in to the discussion with the Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody, it's DJ NV, Jess Hilarious, Sholomay and the Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lorna is here as well if you're just joining us. We're talking about Tiana Taylor. Now, people have been critiquing Tiana, right, Lauren? Yes. And her role in one battle after another. Talking about, you know, her character. being over-sexualized and being fetished by white men. And this is a thing that black women have to do in order to be recognized by these big awards
Starting point is 00:42:55 and to have success in certain areas. And she responded yesterday, correct? Yeah, she responded yesterday in Vanity Fair. And she just asked people, are we not watching the same movie? Her character was a strong fighter. And she says, you know, people don't want to face realities, but sometimes these things happen. The fetishes, they happen.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Once again, give me more examples other than Holly Barry and Monsters Ball show me more women, period, who have won awards and what roles did they win them for? Then show me the black women that won and what they won them for. The white women that win Golden Globes, what were the roles that they played, right? And then show me the other black women
Starting point is 00:43:33 because I can name quite a few other black women who wasn't over-sexualized in the roles at all. They just did some damn good acting, right? And I named a bunch of them earlier, Wolfie Goldberg, Tracy Ellis-Ross, Jennifer Hudson, Debbie Allen. These people have played really good roles and won Golden Globe. So I just want to know what are people
Starting point is 00:43:49 comparing it to. Yeah, and I don't understand why people always critique and try to diminish somebody's light. Like, she played an amazing role. She was an actress. She took a part like she was supposed to take a part and she made it her own. And she made it to the point where people believed it
Starting point is 00:44:02 and she won this award. And anybody who's ever acted if you tried acting in a school play or you even went out for any type of job when it came into the acting field, you know how difficult it is. And the fact that she got one of the biggest accolades for it. It's amazing. We should be saying congratulations. And where were your think pieces with
Starting point is 00:44:19 no thought back in September when the movie came out? People tried, but I think people didn't really lean into it. Because I saw articles. You didn't see nothing. I swear, I'll see there's an article on people from. Why are you doing a topic about it back then? Because it wasn't anything I felt like that was fair to her at that point.
Starting point is 00:44:35 It ain't fair now. No, it's not fair. It's not fair now, but I chose to talk about it today because I feel like it's becoming too loud this time around because of her award and the two should not be anonymous. Let her have her word and have her time. And I guarantee most of the people that have all this criticism probably never seen the movie. And that's the thing.
Starting point is 00:44:51 I guarantee they didn't see the movie. And that's the thing. Tiana is sexy anyway. Like it is what it is. So you can't unsexy her anyway. You know what I'm saying? Anyway. And I bet people who have criticism in this movie, they be musty when it's cold up. Oh my God. Oh, shut up. Not hard it is to be musty when it's cold.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Let me watch the clothes. That's a lot issue at that point. Tom. Yeah. Hey, Tom. What are you calling from? Yo, Southside, Jamaica, Queens, man. Southside. Southside. Talk to us, Tom.
Starting point is 00:45:21 Yo, listen, I'm saying, guess what? A lot of these producers and film developers, man, a lot of times maybe, you know, maybe they come and they find the individual they're looking for because of the platform that, you know, these individual sets. You get a lot of women, you know what I'm saying? And for one, they come to the internet as first, you understand what I'm saying? Which is a big difference from them from, like, Like Regina King and women like that come with documents like, you know, degrees and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:45:50 So they say, you know what? What? What? Good. A body is put together. A body is tight. Yo, we want that. You want them saying?
Starting point is 00:45:57 So a lot of these decisions are made by the platform that a lot of these women set. You understand what I'm saying? Not saying that that's a bad thing because it gets them in the door. It gets them in the door. And it leaves other, you know, it leads to other opportunities for them. So the point I'm making is this. For one, and shout out to the breakfast club. And for the perfect example,
Starting point is 00:46:20 Good morning, Jess. I love for the death. Good morning, Valia. What I'm saying is this. Guess what? Jeff Hilarius came to the internet with talent. She came to the internet with nothing but jokes and tearing people down. And you ain't see, you didn't see Jess up there popping ass.
Starting point is 00:46:37 You understand? That's not true. That's not true. That's not. This is true. She came into shit. She gave me to get me to get me and guess what? She ain't have to take the clothes off the do you know of that?
Starting point is 00:46:47 Do you understand what I'm saying? I've seen a movie where she's naked. I ain't went on a whey. Right. She didn't have to be naked. But guess what? No, that's not true. I'm not what I said.
Starting point is 00:46:56 And she, you know, she's through the roof from there because she came with the poor talent. Not saying that the other women aren't talented. But guess what? When you come like that, when you set the platform and the platform is, I got my body is nice, It's tight. Yeah. But Tom, you can't take away
Starting point is 00:47:15 what Tiana Taylor has done it. At all. I don't know. I don't know if she has a degree or what, but the fact that she's an actress, a singer, a songwriter, dancer,
Starting point is 00:47:25 a director of choreographer. You know, she did Beyonce's video at 15. Ring me along. She did the choreography for that video. So you can't take that. And I'm not speaking in just, in just reference to Tiana.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Tiana was 15 and ring you along with her? Yes. Guess what? What about the not Tiana Taylor? The women that aren't Tiana Taylor. You understand what I'm saying? They reach out for those women. I'm saying, I'm saying, like, you know, people look at, people look at, you know, like,
Starting point is 00:47:52 who we need for this character, who fits this place right here, you know what I'm saying? And Tiana Teller, she is multi-talented. I'm talking about super, though, she's a super talented individual, you know what I'm saying? But she's going to catch black because she's a black woman, you want to them saying? Okay. Thank you, Tom. I think, what are you saying? Is it inevitable?
Starting point is 00:48:12 Okay. Oh, that's going to happen? There was a lot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hello, who's this? Hey, what's going on? It's Mike from Phoenix. Mike from Phoenix.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Talk to us. What's your thoughts, Mike? I mean, it was a cool movie, but it's not really like, I thought it was something like a family movie, something like that would be cool to watch and with the family, you know what I mean? But when it came to all the fucking and all the other stuff,
Starting point is 00:48:31 it's all right, but it's not a family movie. I kind of all can be disappointed. I turned it off midway, man. Sir, why would you think one battle after the other was a family movie. Did you not see the trailer? In the trailer, Tiana's shooting a freaking machine gun. Like, what do you think? In the trailer, they show you Leonotta Capprio's character
Starting point is 00:48:48 with guns going after his daughter. Why would you think that was a family movie? It was a movie. Yeah, it was a movie about a broken film, but it's not a family movie. Yeah, no, no, no, I'm not kids. I mean, I'm talking family, like brothers, sisters, and shit, like, you know what I mean? I don't know. It was a grown-up movie for grown-up family members.
Starting point is 00:49:05 I'm like, I don't know. It's too much for me. Oh, okay. I mean, listen, I didn't love one battle after another. It was cool, you know what I mean? But, yeah, I didn't, it was cool. Yeah, it was cool. My wife liked it, but. Kenya, good morning, Kenya, talk to us.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Hey, good morning. Hey, girl. Good morning. What's your thoughts, Kenya? What's your thoughts, Kenya? Um, first of all, good morning, breakfast, club. This is the first time I've ever called y'all. And I've listened to y'all every morning.
Starting point is 00:49:33 But as far as Tiana's neighbor, I love her. She is everything. He deserves. every award when she walks in, honestly, truthfully. In the beginning, one dot after another, I was a little like what's going on, but the plot twist after
Starting point is 00:49:49 plot twist and her role in that movie was amazing. And I feel her like everybody shouldn't be sexualized on everything, but at the same time look at the world that we're living in. This is how we're living.
Starting point is 00:50:05 So, you know, if people want a downplay, they're on downplay, everybody is the title for their own opinion, just like everybody has that you know, behind them, but in their days, you know, Taylor is amazing. And you know what's the crazy? When I watched one battle after another,
Starting point is 00:50:21 I didn't think she was over-sexualized. I thought that her and Leonardo DiCaprio was super into each other, right? They were a couple, and then she got with Sean Penn, but that was for manipulation, not because she liked them or anything like that. I don't think people actually seen the movie. I think they might have seen
Starting point is 00:50:37 clips and that's where they're getting their opinions based from But I don't think they've seen the movie. So I watched it last night just to be able to talk about it today, right? And what I thought was, like, yes, it's sexy. But it's Tiana Taylor, so she naturally gives that anyway. But in the character, even if it wasn't her for the character role for the story, I felt like because it's a black woman and he's are white men and she's trying to assert her power through sex, I'm like, okay, people are going to have
Starting point is 00:51:02 an issue. But maybe that's the point of it to start that conversation. Well, her and people actually were like each other. Yeah, but. The Sean Pinn thing was just manipulative. But even with her and Leo, there's always these conversations about white men and how they fetish black women.
Starting point is 00:51:15 I don't know about you just... Man, it's a movie. It's the movie. I was going to say it's literally the movie. It's the movie, but what I was going to say is, Rihanna, Tiana Taylor said, this happens in the real world. Like, it does.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Like, my mom had a conversation with me about... Your mom had a white man? No, she didn't. Or she might have. I don't know. But she had a conversation with me about white men and their fetish with black women and what to be careful of
Starting point is 00:51:35 and what to look for. You ever dated a white man? I haven't ever dated a white man. I went on a date. I had. I was a predominantly white high school, so I know, yes. But is that a conversation that you had? My share of Connors and Coles. Yes.
Starting point is 00:51:46 Absolutely. It's a thing. It is a thing. So I think it was a, my point is I think that even if you are upset at that, it's like, what's the conversation that this was trying to cause and why? Like, people are looking at it the wrong way. Like, let's think about the conversation because in the real world that does happen. Shut up.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Not you, Lord. I'm just talking about it. I'm like, damn. Like, shut up. I hate these think pieces with no thought. Everybody would be so deep for the reason. It's a movie. Although it's real, but it is a real situation like this,
Starting point is 00:52:12 but it is a movie. We'll take some more calls when we come back. 800-585-105-1. If you're just joining us, we're talking about Tiana Taylor. Of course, she won the Golden Globe last night. And people are critiquing her. And we're asking, why can't people just say, Sunday night? Sunday night. Why can't people just say congratulations, right?
Starting point is 00:52:30 Why every time that a black woman wins, we critique, we diminish or try to diminish her life? And they're doing it based off nothing. Like I said before, give me more examples. I need you to give me examples. Give me a bunch of examples of black women who've been in this situation and then compare that to the white women who've won and what roles did they play. Because I can name a bunch of women, black women that won Golden Globes
Starting point is 00:52:51 that had nothing to do with being over-sexualized. But it's so crazy because what you were talking about, like either you're sexualized or you're the beaten-down black woman. You know, you did something. It's always a, but why did she win that? This is why she won. A new year doesn't mean erasing who you were. It means honoring what you've survived and choosing how you want to grow.
Starting point is 00:53:13 It means giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding and knowing that it's okay to ask for help. I'm Mike Dolorotcha, host of Sacred Lessons. A decade ago, I was on the trail. of one of the country's most elusive serial killers, but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight.
Starting point is 00:54:17 So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York since the son of Sam, available now. Listen for free on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, I'm Dr. Priyankawali.

Hey there, this is Dr. Jesse Mills, director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health and host of the mailroom podcast.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Each January guys everywhere make the same resolutions. In a powerful two-part conversation, we discussed why men aren't. aren't emotionally bulletproof, why shame hides in plain sight, and how real strength comes from listening to yourself and to others.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Guys who are toxic, they're immature, or they've got something they just haven't resolved. Once that gets resolved, then there comes empathy, as in compassion. If you want this to be the year, you stop powering through pain and start understanding what's underneath, listen to the mailroom on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. If you're just joining us, we're talking about Tiana Taylor. Now she won a Golden Globe Sunday night. And people are saying what, Lauren, about her?
Starting point is 00:56:41 People are asking, why do black women have to be over-sexualized or fetish in order to get recognition in these award shows? You know what? Salute the Court of Brunton, too. I didn't shout out of Coorda. She won't go to the Globe for Abbott Elementary. When she popping it on a handstand in Abbott Elementary? And not broken down or being either.
Starting point is 00:56:59 Not broken down or being. Not at all. I think Trace Ellis Ross won for Blackish. I think. So Tiana Taylor, how does she respond? Because she responded yesterday, right? Yeah, so she spoke to Vanity Fair and she said, you know, this is reality. People don't want to face it, but this, the fetishing of black women does happen in the real world.
Starting point is 00:57:14 And she said, as far as a sexualization, are we not watching the same movie? Like, the first scene you see of her character is a very strong woman with a gun after being called, you know, whatever name. And I think we can flate issues, right? Yes, the fetishizing of black women, you know, does happen. But that is not the reason that black women. women win roles. I mean, winning these awards. Like Tiana Taylor played a specific role, but I can name a bunch of other black women who've won Golden Globes for roles that they weren't being over sexualized.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Well, let's go to the phone lines. We have L.J. on the line. L.J., good morning. Hey, good morning. How y'all doing? I'm good, brother. What's your thoughts? So a little bit of a different topic, but my take on it is this. Whatever you focus on, that's the reality you're going to create. I'm sure one of y'all, you know, you probably got a new car, new pair of shoes, and then you look up, It's like, oh, shoot, everybody got that car. Everybody got those shoes.
Starting point is 00:58:05 It's because your mind is essentially focused on that and create that reality. So when it comes to the Taylor, beyond Taylor nonsense, say, like, we just got to take the fun of ourselves to stop focus on all that type of stuff. Because the better you do in life, the more haters you want.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Yes, man. So if we just sit here and constantly focus on this stuff, we just want to continue to be on the stuff. The better we do, the more haters we do. So we have to continue to doing this stuff, then essentially not going back. You know, like, look at Tom Brady. Look at the other games.
Starting point is 00:58:35 You know, Tom Brady went all these Super Bowl. People say, oh, he only won because it's decent. You know, look at LeBron James. Oh, he's only doing his 50, 6-8, 250. Man, at the end of the day, if people are talking about you, obviously, doing something good. So, shout off to Fiona Taylor, but it's on us, especially the black community, to stop focusing on this nonsense. Because as long as we focus on this nonsense, we can't focus on how good we're actually doing.
Starting point is 00:58:58 We can't focus on lifting people, you know, so I know that a little bit of a different. been, man, but it's for us to just you're right. If people say in BS, bro, we can't pay attention to it. You're right. We can seek to focus on the positive,
Starting point is 00:59:10 continue to uplift our people, you know, not focus on that because a lot of times people say that stuff because they look at for attention. They're looking for feedback. They're looking for us to get upset. And so we just got to ignore all that stuff,
Starting point is 00:59:22 keep being positive, keep uplifting people. That's all I got to say. You're right. Thank you, Bubble. Good point. Why do people act like they haven't been watching Tiana Taylor work her whole life?
Starting point is 00:59:30 I don't know. Maybe they haven't seen it. But it's been loud. It's been loud. Yeah, I'm with you. Hello, who's this? Hi, good morning. This is Vanessa from the Bronx.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Good morning. DJ Envy, Charlamagne the God, Jess and Lauren. Hey, morning. From the BX. You know the craziest people in the world come from the Bronx and all of Florida. Listen, I'm off to Rockland, but that's a different story.
Starting point is 00:59:48 But I'm from the Bronx. Okay. What's your comment? What's your thoughts, Mama? My thoughts should be more about piano working with some of Hollywood juggernauts, like Taraji P. Henson, Leonardo DiCaprio,
Starting point is 01:00:03 Sean Penn, and she's holding her own. Like, that's how I felt when I watched the movie. She wasn't my favorite character, but I was like, wow, look at her. Look at her in these scenes and you cannot tell the difference in experience. That's what I told Lauren yesterday. I was like, when you look at the cast of this film, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Del Toro, Regina Hall, Tiana just pops on screen. So I can see somebody watching that movie and being like, yo, who is that?
Starting point is 01:00:29 Yes, yeah. She stole every scene she was in. And I feel like the opening of the movie. because of how big her character was and how well she did it, it felt like it was for her. Like, I don't know, y'all seen it, right? She's only a movie for 19 minutes. Yeah, but that part of it, it felt like it was hers.
Starting point is 01:00:43 Like, she owned it. Yeah. All right, well, what's the moral of the story? If there's a moral. The moral of the story is, man, stop hating and just say congratulations sometimes. Even if you gotta grit your teeth and say it like Tyree, congratulations.
Starting point is 01:00:55 Yeah, yeah, right, right. Just say congratulations because if you can't be happy for somebody else's success, you'll never have any success of your own. There you go. Don't say nothing. Like, don't say nothing. That's good.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Don't get nothing. All right. My moral is when I win my Golden Globe, I'm not getting on Twitter. I know that's right. I still win one. And I, oh, my God. Wait to TV. You don't be on Twitter, so you're good.
Starting point is 01:01:18 Well, yeah, I'm not. But I'm on TV. And, girl, I got a nice, a nice little sex, over-sexualized scene that I'm waiting to be, you know, got to be picked up, waiting to be nominated for it. You know, it would be hilarious. What? If you and Lauren, get nominated on the same year in the same category,
Starting point is 01:01:33 Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I'll be texting both of y'all pictures of Justin to scarf separately. I probably just wave this scarf and don't even go to the other. I'm going to start up the other. I'll be like, boy, God, no, he's hilarious. They've got to beat it.
Starting point is 01:01:51 They've got to congratulate each other. Oh, my God. That would be like, that would be a big. They'll be like, no, you go. No, you go. You got to come to the globe and the scarf. You got to. You got to.
Starting point is 01:02:05 Man, God ain't that funny. Now, God's funny, but he ain't that one. All right. All right. That's some idiot. Now we got the latest coming up what we're talking about. Yes, we're going to be talking about corrupt. He's been hospitalized for weeks and we're going to break down some of the details of what's been going on.
Starting point is 01:02:21 We'll get into that next is the breakfast club. Come on. Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself down. I'm being myself. That source is muster. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit of time. homeguard that knows a little bit about everything
Starting point is 01:02:34 and everything. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that, take me through that. Where she's going? The latest Gronarney knows. On the breakfast club. L.L. Cool, Talk to me. So yesterday,
Starting point is 01:02:51 Dasz Dillinger posted to his Instagram, a photo of him and Corrupt. For those of you guys who do not know, Corrupt is one half of the dog pound, creator of the dog pound legendary West Coast rapper. So this news was very shocking. So Das Dillinger posted and he said,
Starting point is 01:03:10 God said, we shall live and not die. One said a big shout out to my big brother, official corrupt, get well speedy, need all fans to send corrupt a get well message. Flood his Instagram, tell them how much we love them. And then, you know, from there, people started wondering what was going on. So there was later a report followed up by TMZ
Starting point is 01:03:28 that reported that corrupt has actually been hospitalized after battling some serious health issues and the report does not get into what the health issues are but they mentioned that he's been in the hospital for those weeks but he is currently on the men however he is still hospitalized and they do report that his medical condition
Starting point is 01:03:46 whatever it is improving and he is getting better as the days go by so I want to send him some love definitely send the healing energy to corrupt man yeah yeah salute to corrupt man if you don't know corrupt is originally from Philly he moved to L.A. but he was like 15, 16
Starting point is 01:04:00 11, 16, 11th, since he gets busy songwriter, a dope, dope, dope, dope, dude, man. Yes, and yes, get better. Now, in other news, as we switch gears, 50 cent has some pretty big things happening. So we've been talking a lot about everything he's doing in Shreveport, Shreveport. But he closed the deal yesterday for $124 million. It's a development deal with the state of Louisiana. And this is going to help everything that he's doing with the G-Unit film and television situation that he has.
Starting point is 01:04:31 has over there. Now, per the deal, three properties in downtown Streetport will be transformed into entertainment venues. And the LA Times is reporting that this includes former facilities owned by Stageworks and Millennium Studios, which are big studios there at one point. Fentia's talked about that as well, like coming in and redoing studios that were already there. And it also includes a dome-style immersive venue complete with a new park. So yeah, congratulations. Talk about how many jobs are created, though. How many jobs are created? I saw that number yesterday. It's support, so it will support over 6,000 jobs around the state and pay $300 million and wages in total.
Starting point is 01:05:06 You hear that Shreveport? I know that. I'm messing with you. You hear that Shreveport, 6,000 new jobs in Shreveport. That's what it's all about. Everybody's like to start the numbers, the money and all that. No, how many jobs and opportunities are being created in this situation? Yeah, and there was a study that was done on just everything that 50 cent is doing and
Starting point is 01:05:25 developing over there. And the study projected that over the next 20 years, this development, project that he's doing will generate over 18.8 billion dollars for the immunity of trap point yeah yep Shreveport yes yeah but 50 been working on this for years
Starting point is 01:05:41 I didn't work on this for a long time he's been buying a bunch of properties and stuff he got some more to announce too man he's I can't wait to it to open up they're saying it's gonna open up by the end of this year that's what they've been saying so I hope so congratulations Curtis 50 cents said this is the new air of entertainment that is going to be coming
Starting point is 01:05:56 congratulations now speaking of entertainers and creators. I don't know if you guys saw, but Drewski had the people going online or within the last 24 hours. So Drewski did a skit. He does a lot of these skits on social. And the skit was about mega pastors and megach churches or pastors and mega churches. And the things that go down. Let's take a listen to Drusky skit.
Starting point is 01:06:19 I had somebody in the congregation that asked why I'm wearing Christian Dior and Christian Lupitans. Because I'm a Christian and I walk in the blood of Jesus. Give them some prayers. I'm a Christian first. We are raising funds for a project in Zimbabwe. Yes, we are trying to get our congregation over in Africa. Amen. We wanted to raise $4 million for that.
Starting point is 01:06:45 Amen. Hallelujah. That needs to appear to date. We are not letting anyone leave until we reach our goal, amen. Yeah. Hallelujah. Life savings here. Give them some praise for that.
Starting point is 01:06:59 I need you to the president, no way. Hey, come on, man. Hey, get your hands off my car. You gave tithing off him? No. That's got to be it, man. He was in a Mayback, right? Yes, he was.
Starting point is 01:07:10 hilarious. It was so funny. It was so funny, and it poked out all the things that are like, you know, the normal conversations. Not normal. They shouldn't be normal, but the conversations that people have about the wrong things that happened with the church in the business of churches. I confirmed yesterday I spoke to Ruechfroguecky that this is the biggest skit that he has done. At this current time, it has. 3.2 million likes on Instagram.
Starting point is 01:07:31 I also saw that this joined one of other, I think it's like five other videos that have over a thousand, a hundred thousand comments. It's currently at 250,000 comments on his Instagram as well too. That's Tewski's biggest kid ever? Yeah, that's what the rec told me yesterday. Because number one, it's funny, right?
Starting point is 01:07:46 It's funny, that's number one. Number two, it gets a conversation started because people start having a conversation about these mega church. And then it gets people upset because people think that he's mocking the church. But all the people upset. I would tell those heathens, you can't be mad at Drewski for the spoof and not be mad at the mega churches.
Starting point is 01:08:05 He's spoofing because all his art is based off reality. So what did he see that made him do that? That's who you need to be upset at, not Drews. You know, also invested into that skit too. Yeah. That was a cheap skit. Like, I mean, he's hanging in the air. He keeps Chris Brown there.
Starting point is 01:08:20 He invested in that skit. As he's poking at some of the moments that we've seen in these big churches over the year, there is some money put into production. You know what I mean? But you know, that's interesting because Drewskiy's always put a lot. a lot of money in this production. You've seen the evolution. Does it make all the other sketch creators feel Pope? I think it's inspiration.
Starting point is 01:08:36 I know it's a, I mean, I've seen a few other, like, people do this before. You got King Bodge, you got Cornelius, you got Desi Banks. Desi Banks always, like they invest. I think, I think, Drewski has elevated what the formula was, to your point, right? Like, there was a formula already there, but I do think he elevated it only because it seems like, yeah, the budget is a little bit different. but also I think people... He's doing TV level production online. And people talk about his skits a little bit further than...
Starting point is 01:09:03 I'm just saying I've seen it before. Yeah, I think there's a model to it. You're right. Really, really funny up and down all around with it. But yes, I've seen big productions by a lot of these social media stars before. Well, the people, you talked about people being upset. A few of them, my bad. At Druski and why are they upset at Druski?
Starting point is 01:09:19 So the question here that I think we should ask is, because he's poking fun at these megachurches in the business of it. People are upset, but it's like, what are mega church is really? What is the business of a megachurch and why do we need it, right? Like, why can't you just... What do you think about Drewski-skid? Yeah. What do you think about Drewski-skit? We can get somebody to call in and have a conversation about, in general,
Starting point is 01:09:38 Drewski-skinned. You know what I mean, especially all the church goals out there. You go to church, will you offend about it? If there are any pastors listening, were you offended, were you offended by how he made fun of the things that we've seen. You know what? Don't even ask if people were offended. What do you think? Yeah, I think what do you think is a good question.
Starting point is 01:09:53 I feel like you leave the jury when you say, are you offended? Were you offended? Because a lot of people are you offended. Because a lot of people may feel like, yeah. He exposed him. You are the dog. You know what I'm saying? She's the top.
Starting point is 01:10:03 Keep going, Jess. Just keep going. Y'all know Lauren do that voice? Y'all think it's the other dude. That's Lauren that be doing that. Top dog, lo! Oh, wow. Y'all heard the song?
Starting point is 01:10:10 You heard the song? Getting another check, low. Back to your point, Jess. Yeah, yeah. I honestly feel like a lot of people, like, we'll probably feel like, oh, he shut the light on what we've been seeing all these years. I think so, too. Yeah, I think so too.
Starting point is 01:10:23 So let's have a conversation. Let's open up the phone lines. 8,000,000. 5-105-1. If you've seen that skit, what were your thoughts? That is the question. If you've seen the skit, what were your thoughts? We'd love to hear from pastors, people from the church, any day person. Just what are your thoughts? All right. Thank you for the latest.
Starting point is 01:10:36 If you got four Christian Lubiton in your closet and you're a pastor, all right, we're going to know why you offended if you call up here butt hurt. I want. Why can't the pastor have lupitons on? I think they can. Whatever you want. People going to talk about you, but yeah, it is what it is. People get paid for a job.
Starting point is 01:10:53 Okay. I think like, you know, you said like, Jamal Bryant. Yeah, that was like something that he said back in the day before. Like, why do people get mad when
Starting point is 01:11:02 but there is pastors that do other things. Like, you know, they write books. You know, they might even get paid for speaking engagements outside of the church.
Starting point is 01:11:11 They do. Yes, I mean, but I always, if you're using your own money, I don't care what you spend on. But that's always been the line, like, right?
Starting point is 01:11:17 You're a pastor, you do all these other things. You get your success really from the church and you do all these other things and then people in your congregation are broke or they need help and they look at you,
Starting point is 01:11:26 pull up in your, Mayback and look at you pull up in your Rolls Roy. That you paid for. I just need some chicken. But what about the pastors who might have a nice call? But then they still look out for the church 300%. And then I look at it like this, right?
Starting point is 01:11:37 Like, you know, entertainers get paid. Yes. You know, athletes get paid. What if these people really, they really did devote their life to God? Right? They really did what you're supposed to do. Why shouldn't they get blessed for that?
Starting point is 01:11:51 You should. There's no reason why you should. I should have a job. People look at the church differently than they look at athletes. It's the humility. They look at the basketball player, the rapper, the singer. They look at the church differently from the cloth. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:12:06 You're just a different. We'll open up the phone lines and discuss 8005-8-105-105. One. Shalah, who you giving your don't know, too? Man, four after the hour, man. There's a surgeon named Stephen Moscarelli. And this really hurt my feelings because I had a certain perception of surgeons that I still have, but he changed it just a little bit.
Starting point is 01:12:24 We'll discuss. I thought you was going to say you had surgery. You think that? No. Top dog low. It's your waist. I'm sorry. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:12:31 Top dog low. All right. We'll get you that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Donkey up the day. Maybe. Damn.
Starting point is 01:12:38 The he-haw again. It's time for donkey of the day. I'm not trying to be donkey today no more. They should be embarrassed by what they already did. I'm not making these people do these things. Called donkey of the day. And it really caught me off guard. Damn, Salome.
Starting point is 01:12:53 Who got the donkey of the day? Well, Jess O'Larias. Donkey here today for Wednesday, January 14th, goes to a doctor who works at the Georgia Hospital named Stephen Mosquerel. Okay, he is a surgeon, and I'm not going to lie, he shattered this illusion I have of surgeons because I look at surgeons as angels on earth, okay?
Starting point is 01:13:11 Extensions of God, him or herself. Okay, I'll explain, but first, I need you all to know what Stephen Moscarell did. Let's go to 11 alive for the report, please. Well, right now a Northeast Georgia surgeon is facing charges after an alleged confrontation with one of his patients. So a criminal report from Livonia Police Department shows officers responded to St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital last Thursday for a dispute. Now, the patient told police that her surgeon, Stephen Muscouriel, charged towards
Starting point is 01:13:42 her in an aggressive manner after she voiced concerns about a procedure he had done. And according to the report, he charged at her as if he was going to strike her got into her face and began yelling, as well. One nurse told police that she had to physically intervene to push him away from that patient. And police say that the doctor, that they charge a doctor with simple assault. I can't even get surgery in America in 2006 without being potentially attacked by my surgeon. Okay. What has happened to us as a society? Who can you trust? Everybody is so freaking angry. Everyone is so freaking mad. Now, first of all, let me go back to what I said about. I always thought surgeons were angels on earth, extensions of God, okay?
Starting point is 01:14:24 First of all, what is a surgeon's role? A surgeon's role is to diagnose, treat, and prevent injuries are illnesses through operations, managing patient care before, during, and after surgery by leading a medical team, performing precise procedures, and ensuring patient safety and recovery. That's what AI overview told me this morning when I did some research, and by research, I mean Google. Okay, the reason I wanted to know the technical specifics of it, the technical specifics of what it is they do is because I wanted to make sure the thoughts I had of them in my mind are correct.
Starting point is 01:14:57 Okay, see, let me tell you how my country has cognitive functioning skills work. To me, surgeons are special, okay, like divinely special. When I called him angels on earth, it's because I always thought to myself, God gives us all certain gifts, and surgeons save lives with their gifts, okay? Not everyone is an anointed to be a surgeon. And yes, I feel like it's an anointing to be a surgeon. I feel surgeons' hands are divinely empowered for a sacred purpose, capable of performing miracles, healing,
Starting point is 01:15:25 and bringing God's blessing through action. See, some of y'all be getting shot, okay? You be in car accidents. You get rushed to the hospital, and no surgeons by the grace of God, by the power bestowed upon them by God, they save your life. And you praise God when you recover as you should.
Starting point is 01:15:43 But what about the angel in the form of a surgeon that God anointed to save you too? Okay, so I was shocked to hear this story by Stephen Moscarell because why would you attack a person after you just performed a surgery on them? What insulted you that much? I need more of this
Starting point is 01:16:01 story. What was the patient complaining about that got you so irate that you would attempt to attack them? Did she get a BBL? But realized when the surgery was done, she only had a BB? There was no lift. And that is not fair to attack a woman after they got a BBL. Can you imagine
Starting point is 01:16:16 trying to kick an ass that a person can't even sit on? What caused the patient to be upset and what caused the surgeon to attempt to attack her because of it. Not only are you a surgeon, you are a man attacking a woman, okay? There is clearly some type of mental instability going on with this human because it just sounded like he snapped. But as I said before on this radio, there are a few professions where you don't get the luxury of having a bad day. I'm just, I'm sorry. If you're a police officer, you don't get the luxury of having a bad day.
Starting point is 01:16:46 If you're an elected official, you don't get the luxury of having a bad day. If you're a surgeon, you don't get the luxury of a bad day. You all are responsible for way too many people's lives. And I know you're just a human at the end of the day. But if you're not feeling like yourself on any particular day at any particular moment and you're in one of these professions, eat a snickers. Because sometimes you are not yourself when you're hungry. But clearly this surgeon was not himself on this particular day to engage in this type of professional misconduct. Please let Rame Maher give Stephen Mosquarell the biggest he-ha.
Starting point is 01:17:19 He-ha, he-ha, you stupid motherfucker, are you dumb? And, you know, they say be kind because you never know what people are going through, but that still doesn't give this surgeon a reason to do what he did, okay? And salute to all the surgeons out there. Okay, all the angels on earth that are surgeons that are doing right by people before, during and after surgery, thank you for your service. But I really, really want to know what was this woman complaining about that made this surgeon get so upset.
Starting point is 01:17:46 That's crazy. I don't know. All right. Well, thank you for that donkey of the day. You know, they do a poll on our Twitch now. I don't like how you say Paul. I actually hate how you say Paul.
Starting point is 01:17:55 It's how he formed the old. It came right from the back of his throat. Crazy. Crazy. Like that poll, you're right, Jeff. The pole sounded like it came from the back of his throat. It was crazy.
Starting point is 01:18:04 Well, they do a poll. Ooh. On our Twitch now. It's spit on it just now. It's a, what race the people online were thinking? And 93% of the people believe that this surgeon was white. Okay.
Starting point is 01:18:18 And can you, is it true? A majority of surgeons in America are white. But there's black surgeons. There are. That's not a tough guess. I'm not just telling you what the polls said. Paulus. All right.
Starting point is 01:18:32 Well, thank you for that donkey today. Now, let's open up the phone lines. 800585-105.1. Have you guys seen the truth? Yeah, 77% of surgeons in America are white. So that's not. Yeah. Okay, poll.
Starting point is 01:18:43 He's trying to downplay, you Twitch people. Do a poll about how many basketball players in the NBA are black. That's a stupid poll, right? They're more among white players. I don't know if you've noticed that lately. Sure. All right. Let's open up the phone lines.
Starting point is 01:18:55 I don't know if you guys seen the Druski skit. 800585-105-1. He's mocking the church. He's making fun of the church. He's not mocking the church or making fun of the church. He's actually spoofing the church. And art reflects reality. Okay.
Starting point is 01:19:08 And if you're mad at Drewski for the spoof and not mad at the mega-churches he's spoofing, you're going to hell. Well, we're taking your calls. 800-585-105-1. to talk to you. What are your thoughts after seeing the spoof? Is that fine? That's what you know that didn't roll off your tongue like pole, though. Poles are used to roll about that. Right. What's wrong with you, man? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:19:32 Let's discuss when we come back as the Breakfast Club. A new year doesn't mean erasing who you were. It means honoring what you've survived and choosing how you want to grow. It means giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding and knowing that it's okay to ask. for help. I'm Mike Dalarocha, host of Sacred Lessons. This podcast is a space for men to talk openly about mental health, grief, relationships, and the patterns we inherit, but don't have to repeat. Here, we slow down, we listen, we learn how vulnerability becomes strength and how healing happens in community, not in isolation. If you're ready to let go of what no longer serves you and step into the year with clarity, compassion, and purpose.

A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers, but it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight. So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster,
Starting point is 01:20:50 hunting the Long Island serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York, since the son of Sam, available now. Listen for free on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, I'm Dr. Priyankawali. And I'm Hurricane de Bolu. It's a new year, and on the podcast's health stuff,
Starting point is 01:21:10 we're resetting the way we talk about our health. Which means being honest about what we know, what we don't know and how messy it can all be. I like to sleep in late and sleep early. Is there a chronotype for that or am I just depressed? We talk to experts who share real experiences and insight. You just really need to find where it is that you can have an impact in your own life and to start doing that. We break down the topics you want to know more about. Sleep, stress, mental health, and how the world around us affects our overall health. We talk about all the ways to keep your body in mind, inside and out, healthy.
Starting point is 01:21:48 We human beings, all we want is connection. We just want to connect with each other. Health stuff is about learning, laughing, and feeling a little less alone. Listen on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there, this is Dr. Jesse Mills, director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health and host of the mailroom podcast. Each January, guys everywhere, make the same resolutions. Get stronger, work harder, fix, what's broken? But what if the real work isn't physical at all?
Starting point is 01:22:19 To kick off the new year, I sat down with Dr. Steve Polter, a psychologist with over 30 years' experience, helping men unpack shame, anxiety, and emotional pain they were never taught the name. In a powerful two-part conversation, we discuss why men aren't emotionally bulletproof, why shame hides in plain sight, and how real strength comes from listening to yourself and to others. Guys who are toxic, they're immature, or they've got some. something they just haven't resolved. Once that gets resolved, then there comes empathy as in compassion. If you want this to be the year, you stop powering through pain and start understanding what's underneath, listen to the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows.
Starting point is 01:23:03 It's topic time. Call 800-585-105-1 to join into the discussion with the Breakfast Club. Talk about it. Morning, everybody. Hey, it's DJNV, just hilarious. Salomey Nagar. We are the Breakfast Club. If you're just joining us,
Starting point is 01:23:22 we're talking about Drewski's skit. Have you seen it? We're taking your phone calls, 800585105-105-1. Hello, who's this? Hello, good morning. Hey, good morning. Oh, I know it says anonymous.
Starting point is 01:23:33 You don't want to say your name, but what's your thoughts on Drewski's skit. I mean, if more, I need to comment more on what Shahnami's say at a matter. Oh, what if you're a passive, but you have seeking engagements and you make money. If you really have a caller and you're a pastor, You shouldn't accept money for engagement and things of that nature.
Starting point is 01:23:49 Even people promote books and other things in the church, it shouldn't be. If you have a calling for God, you shouldn't put money with that. A lot of parts of it's the network and things of that nature. It shouldn't be that. And I believe what was. You know, in the book of Deuteronomy, it says God gives you the ability to produce wealth. And, you know, even in the book of proverbs, it says the blessing of the Lord. You know, maybe we look at wealth in a different way, Shalom,
Starting point is 01:24:15 because the wealth got his calling. And then he also said it is easier for for Connell to go through the eye of the needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom. So when we think about wealth, we think about our health. You always say health is wealth. These are the things you talk about wealth. It's not monetary terms. Yeah, but I think, you know, not wealth in monetary terms.
Starting point is 01:24:34 All are thinking it's money because we can't go with it. What did you do on this earth? What's the good you did for other people? It's not about our network. That's not what he was talking about in. I agree with you, but also the Bible warns against making money an idol, and it tells you that you can't serve both God and money, but it don't tell you not to go get no money.
Starting point is 01:24:53 No, he did say not to go. No, that's not what I'm saying, but he said both. He said he can do both, but we do these things in his churches. We promote books. We promote all how much money. They're promoting books in his churches. These megachers, they should be closed on. He said, he makes it be.
Starting point is 01:25:08 Okay. Because they're not doing the work of God. I mean, back in the day, we would rely on these churches. But today, I'm seeing. something totally different. It's more anti-crise than anything else. Thank you, Mama. And a lot of people feel that way. A lot of people feel like when they see their pastors, you know, driving expensive cars and wearing all these clothes and talk about their
Starting point is 01:25:27 big houses and their private jets. And they look at some of the people in the congregation that don't have it. A lot of people, that's why a lot of people are, stay away from churches because they feel like it's like a slap in the stage. It's like looking at elected officials, you know, and they send in all of this money to all of these different places, but you're starving right here in your back. I get it. And people are upset about Drewski's content or whatever, but it's a lot of other things that he didn't even touch on and that skit about these mega pastors or whatever. You know, like the women and how they use, you know, their influence as a form of power
Starting point is 01:25:57 when they get to a certain, you know, a certain extent. Now, that's a whole other sketch now. Yeah. One thing to get the money, but what about the pastors getting all the p-tee in the church? You know what I'm saying? Jesus Christ, he didn't even meet you. But that's basically what, you know what I'm saying? You would say it in a professional level.
Starting point is 01:26:10 Yes, yes. Trying to stay professional. Hello, who's this? This is Cor. How y'all doing? What's up, brother? What's your thoughts? Good morning. Cool and cool, man.
Starting point is 01:26:18 I've been trying to get away y'all for the fast stuff for once. I'm glad y'all fucking on the phone, though. Man, if you don't get to what you want to get to, man. Hey, man, I always say, you're past to me and stop this, man. If you come to church and get away, they just want to see what they need to do, let's get out of there. I can't even understand you. The devil don't even want us to hear you this morning. You need to pray for a new phone, man.
Starting point is 01:26:41 Devil's so busy with your phone. Hello, who's this? Hey, this is Brandy. Talk to us, Brandy. What's your thoughts? Well, I'm, well, my husband is a pastor. Oh, you're the pastor's wife. I'm trying to get to you earlier.
Starting point is 01:26:55 Go ahead. Yeah, my husband is a pastor, but he, I thought it was hilarious. I'm a big fan of drinking. So, but I've seen it. The hanging from the feelings, you know, he didn't get it from nowhere. Mm-hmm. And I, for one, just don't think. Well, I think that as a body of Christ,
Starting point is 01:27:20 we have to be careful with what we put in front of the congregation and the world that represents Christ and what takes away from Christ. And a lot of the major turfs, not all of them, but a lot of them, you are seeing them with these named brands just branded across them in front of not only their congregation, but they're recording for the world to see. And I feel like that's a distraction from just Christ, because now you're distracted.
Starting point is 01:27:54 He's got on, let's get Christian Lutherines, but now my mind is not no longer on Christ on why are you in that? You know what I would love to ask you, ma'am? And, you know, you're absolutely right. I've been saying it all morning, you can't be mad at Drewski for the spoof and not be mad at the mega churches he's spoofing.
Starting point is 01:28:09 But one thing I hear from a lot of pastors, is the reason they might wear like a lot of the name brand stuff to design and stuff because they feel like they're meeting people where they are. It's relatable. They feel like it makes them more relatable. It makes, you know, the younger generation gravitate towards them. What does your husband think about that?
Starting point is 01:28:25 What do you think about that? Well, me and my husband, we're very kind of like down to earth. And that's not to say that God won't bless us, obviously, with abundantly and more. I have six kids. And I would love that. But I would still as, a representation of
Starting point is 01:28:42 a leader in a leadership position for God, I just feel like we have to be careful with what we are presenting because a lot of people who are leading do not have that. And that's not to say they can't get that. I just don't, I don't see the point in
Starting point is 01:29:04 ripping yourself in diamonds and having the neighbor and just branded across you. I just don't, me and husband we just don't agree with it and we don't do it now um with anything i got you got you i didn't see no iced out pastor yeah i think but i i said you know i mean haven't you but i think i definitely feel like that is that that's a little on the b side when you say oh yeah i wear christian d or lubitsin because you know i want to meet people where they at where where
Starting point is 01:29:35 that's it but because like i will say that like when he said it i can see why a pastor say i want to look like the people that are coming to my to come to my church right because sometimes you look at somebody pass it like nah they're too old they're not going to talk about something i'm talking i mean you're the place what i'm not talking about so if you see somebody that kind of that looks like you that dresses like you i think i i do will say like you know what i'm going to mess with that past and see what he's about because he got a because he got a christian d'or jack get on but that is a good sermon i got on christian d'iore and i know you're looking at me saying you think i got money but you got on christian d'or and you ain't got no money so why you think
Starting point is 01:30:11 I got it. All right. 800, 5,8, 105, 1, we're taking your calls. When we come back, we're going to be talking to Pastor Tim Ross. He's going to be checking in, giving his opinion on it. He was a pastor at Embassy City Church. It was a church with a three. Where did they at?
Starting point is 01:30:25 Where did I say? I will say that, like, when he said it, I can see why a pastor said, I want to look like the people that are coming to my church, right? Because sometimes you look at somebody past it, like, nah, they're too old. They're not going to talk about something I'm talking about. I mean, you don't got a way. They're the place what I'm not talking about. So if you see somebody that kind of looks like you, that dresses like you,
Starting point is 01:30:45 I think I do will say like, you know what, I'm going to mess with that past and see what he's about. Because he got a Christian Dior, Jack, get on. But that is a good sermon. I got on Christian Dior, and I know you're looking at me saying
Starting point is 01:30:56 you think I got money. But you got on Christian Dior and you ain't got no money. So why do you think I got it? All right. Now, if you're just joining us, we're opening up the phone lines, 800-585-105-1,
Starting point is 01:31:09 and we're talking about Drewskiy's skit or spoof. It was about the church last night, well, church a couple nights ago, and people are upset about it. So we have Tim Ross on the line. He's a pastor. He's a pastor at Embassy City Church, mega church, over 3,000 members at one point. So we would love to hear with you, brother. First of all, how are you feeling? Salute to Tim, man. I really, Tim, you know, I really enjoy your podcast, man. Is it true? You didn't step down from being a pastor to start a podcast, though, right? I did not. I step down from pastor and prior to knowing that I was going to start a practice.
Starting point is 01:31:43 Gotcha. So what are your thoughts after seeing the skit? Of course you've seen the skit. What were your thoughts? It was hilarious. Hmm. Yeah, it was absolutely hilarious. I'm a former stand-up comic,
Starting point is 01:31:53 so I understand comedy, satire, and the fact that for decades, uh, comedians and sketch comedians have looked at the church and found its, is idiosyncrasies and its hypocrisies and called them out. We're going all the way back to the 60s with Flip Wilson, Richard Pryor in the 70s, the classic one from Arsenio Hall
Starting point is 01:32:22 and coming to America, David, Alan Greer, and Martin. So this is not new. Juski just had the biggest budget. Yeah, you know what I said on the radio earlier, Tim? I said, you can't be mad at Druski put a spoof and not be mad. mad at the mega churches, he's spoofing.
Starting point is 01:32:41 Because all art is based off reality. So what did he see that made him want to do that, that sketch? Now, that's what you need to be upset about? And what do you say to that? Exactly. What do you say to people in the church that are offended by it? It gives us an opportunity to look at within, right? I mean, anytime you see satire, it is exposing a truth that gives us the opportunity
Starting point is 01:33:02 to address those perceptions. Jewsky didn't just creatively come out with this, that he didn't look at the monk community and then make this satire. He was looking at Black Pentecostal Church, many of which have exhibited the type of things that Juski was expressing. So when my team sent this clip to me and I watched it, the first thing I wrote back to them was many feet fit these shoes. I have no problem with pastors getting paid though Tim Me either no I mean when you when you look at pastors That have been able to break into culture Sell millions of books
Starting point is 01:33:49 Sell a lot of music Well if they have that discretionary income And they want to wear some Valenciaga that's their prerogatives That's right I think we need to to focus on the pastors who've never wrote books and have never produced
Starting point is 01:34:09 anything outside of the church but they have Bentley's. Right. They got kids and hers Mercedes in the parking lot but the carpet is still nappy. See that's nice now you're talking. I think a lot of people feel like you know
Starting point is 01:34:24 when pastors do that are they focusing on the ministry or money you know if if they have the expensive cars and the designer clothes they see a lot of times people say it feels like inconsistent with the scriptures that warn against storing up earthly riches and encouraging you know caring for the poor and a lot of people feel that way yeah well I mean there's a lot of people that have come from the entertainment industry from the sports industry and have failed to call the pastor and they made their wealth outside of the church right should they
Starting point is 01:34:55 not live in a big house should they not drive the car that they choose to drive right I think we got to hold the tension as opposed to globalizing every church is like this. Gotcha. Yeah. Man, thank you, Tim, man. Hope to see you up here and soon, man. Absolutely. Y'all have a great day.
Starting point is 01:35:12 Peace, can soon. I think, man, what Tim said is very important. The pastors who don't have any outside sources of income who are getting all this money, that's who you need to be side eyeing, because like he said, there's pastors out there who got, you know, podcasts, his pastors out there who got, you know, podcasts, his pastors out there who, you know, used to be athletes, used to be entertainers. So they already got, they already got paper.
Starting point is 01:35:31 It's pastors out there who got real estate that own businesses. But what he said is true, the pastors who don't have no other businesses, all they got is church. The church is raggy. The members in their congregation are suffering, but they got the his and her Mercedes businesses outside of the congregation. That's right.
Starting point is 01:35:47 Well, all right. When we come back, we got the latest with Lawrence. So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Let's your talk, L.L. Cube. Yeah. I'm not dumbing myself down.
Starting point is 01:35:55 I'm hanging myself. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everything. Little brown girls look at you and go, I want to be like you. Take me through that, take me through that. The latest with Narno L.Codeo on the Breakfast Club. L.L. Coobley. Talk to me. So you guys remember when R.A. Linux got online and talked about how she did not like Martin and Pam's relationship on the market.
Starting point is 01:36:25 show and you know the colorism and all those things right so martin has finally responded to that so he was speaking with marissa marissa marissa mitchell at good day dc while promoting a show that he has down there and she didn't an exclusive interview with him and she asked about r nix's comments let's take a listen did you ever have that that concern or what do you make that whole back and forth no no i never had that concern because I knew they were jokes and you know that's the way you know black people that's the way we joke
Starting point is 01:36:58 you know we we go hard and you know and me and Tashina was just having a lot of fun and we were just keeping it real and I was just keeping it real and so that's why we got a lot of laughs out of it so she has a right to have
Starting point is 01:37:14 her own opinion and everything but there was no malice intent you can have your own opinion you can have your own feelings about things that you can't have your own facts and the facts is it's hilarious that Martin and Tashina Arnold both shut that down but people still want to debate it back and forth she was on that man heads we can't just say it was one-sided man she was going in and I love Martin boy shout out to Martin y'all
Starting point is 01:37:36 and folks is having a whole argument about colorism when there was no colorism jokes made on Martin and everybody on the show made jokes about each other Martin and Tashina Arnold just stood out because they was the funniest and I think their chemistry was just great in general and Tashina Arnold spoke to about this whole situation as well when we were on the break. I do have her comments just because we haven't had a chance to play them. Let's take a listen to Tashina Arnold as well. I just came aware of something recently that was going on in the news about
Starting point is 01:38:02 Ari Lennox. The colorism thing where she felt like Martin was bagging on me because I was brown skin and because she was a brown skin girl. And I have heard this story. Like it told more than Ari. He wasn't just Ari. I think it was only Ari. I think it was only Ari.
Starting point is 01:38:18 Oh. I don't know I personally, but I like her music, and I met her one time when I was hosting Soul Train. I understand completely what she said, and I get it. This is a little backstory. Pam was originally for a heavyset girl, so all the jokes on my audition were fat jokes. They ended up changing it when I got the role, obviously,
Starting point is 01:38:37 because that's when my body was banging, I was thin. I was like, yeah, what's your doing with these jokes? Because what's y'all doing with these jokes? What? Yeah, what's happening? I'm not getting fat, like I'm not. Yeah, that's not going to happen. ended up changing the jokes, but if you were around on Martin days and on that set, all the funny really happened when those cameras weren't rolling.
Starting point is 01:38:57 I would have loved that. In another universe, there is a Martin show with a fat person on it. And they are getting hit with some of the greatest fat jokes ever. And we were deprived of that. No, we just saved a generation of fat people's trauma, man. Because now, you got already coming out now. Imagine what, you know what I'm saying. And another universe, it would have been Lizzo complaining.
Starting point is 01:39:19 Yes, yes, yes. And a different multiverse. And a different multiverse is a Martin show with a fat main character who got all hit with a bunch of jokes and three years ago, it was Lizzo complaining about it. But Dan, we missed some of the funniest things we would have seen on TV.
Starting point is 01:39:32 But Dick Shirley was a person with no face. So we couldn't even directly pin the fatism on nobody. And y'all worried about colorism jokes. What about the BDBs? Wait more women with nappy kitchens who could be offended by that? Because that's a tough spot back there to get right. It is.
Starting point is 01:39:47 Especially when they're showing, yeah. just a little ass curl man this tough back, man. Why, how he went and continue. Why, how he went and me? You know what's so dope. You don't know nothing about a B2B. Because.
Starting point is 01:39:57 Jess and Lauren at the same time in synchronity. Yeah. Honestly, we don't have to be at the same time. And I could be across the room and Jess like, and I'm like, oh, all right. Okay, got you. Because you know it's tough.
Starting point is 01:40:08 Well, you all offended by the BDBJos because Tachina Arnold on Deon Cole podcast said, the reason they even started putting that in the script because Martin used to clown her about that off. Yeah, she, damn. I didn't see that. But no, I was. I wasn't offended. I wasn't offended. You know, I resonate with that, though. You know what I mean? I mean? We're a boy here that show.
Starting point is 01:40:24 You know what I'm saying? He's got to think about everybody. You know what I mean? Yeah. Y'all, NB, take your head off. All right. Moving on. Speaking of healing. No, no, no, no, no. NBie take your hat off, then going to bathroom and get a warm rag and rub it across the hair and see what happened. Nothing to happen, sir. Nothing. My hair is here. All right. All right. Come on, be a man. Stop. Now, let's move to another topic. because yesterday online, another person that kind of spoke out on some things was Kaisnett. So you guys know he took a step back from streaming and he's been just taking his time. We now know what he's been up to. So he posted a vlog yesterday titled, I quit.
Starting point is 01:41:02 And a lot of people thought that that was just like, I quit streaming. But no, it was about the self-doubt that he's been talking about in his mental space and him building this clothing line. Let's take a listen to Kaysan. Because his mom was in the video and it's a vlog and it takes you through things. He's speaking to his mom about this self-doubt. Let's take a listen. Usually I'm able to handle a lot of stuff by myself and find ways to it, but I just needed some advice on just pursuing life and goals that I have.
Starting point is 01:41:27 It's just like a lot of self-doubt. I'm not even depressed. I'm not sad. It's just for some reason I'm having a lot of self-doubt because it's out of fear of stepping back from what I'm primarily known for and pursuing an another goal. Well, first things first, you cannot let your mental take over. over. Some people are strong. Some people are weak. When the voices in your head start coming, it's pushing you either to give up or keep going. Yeah, so the vlog then takes you into his journey. He spent some time overseas. And I commend him for this because there's so many people who have
Starting point is 01:42:08 platforms that just put things out there and don't really take the time to get into the industries and learn and grow. He spent, you know, all these, you know, months, I believe he was in Italy. and he's working with the manufacturers. He's actually learning how to sew. He has a whole private YouTube channel, not private, but it's one we didn't know was there. He told us about it yesterday, where you watch him learn how to sew in these different steps.
Starting point is 01:42:29 And he brought in Law Roach into the vlog, you're right, into the vlog, who is world-renowned stylist, known for working with Zendaya and a ton of others, to talk about fashion and building the product. So he's so serious about this. Let's take a listen to Kai and Law Roach. It's the opportunity to just express
Starting point is 01:42:45 a lot of things that's been going on my life. But like this is Kai behind just the streams. And I want to do it the right way. Like I don't mind. This is not me stopping my name on any brand. I can see. Yeah. Yeah. And trying and trying to, you know, money grabbing.
Starting point is 01:43:00 I want to build this community. You have to know who your audience is. Yeah. You have to know who those people who are going to support you in the beginning because those people are also going to grow with you. Mm-hmm. The people who've been watching you for,
Starting point is 01:43:10 how long have you been streaming in five years? Like four or five, yeah. Right. So if they saw watch you when they was nine, they're 14 now. You know what I mean? And for the next five years, then they're going to be 19. So they grow with you. And then the economics are going to grow with you too.
Starting point is 01:43:23 Take your time. Like, well, I think you did this part already. Like, always some people are just to be still. You know what I mean? Like just when you just be still and the universe will speak to you and it or come to you. Be still and know that I am God. Slu-a-law Roach. I love that, man.
Starting point is 01:43:37 I love the fact that he's doing the work and showing his journey. And I was saying behind the scenes, the fact that he's actually learning how to do it from the bottom and building it up is like no other. Yes, and the name of the clothing brand is Vivette official. We have Kai talking about that as well, too, and what it means. And it's dope because he's been journaling throughout this whole process and putting in his designs, the inspiration he gets as he journals. And when you go to the website, you're going to get to be, like, literally live in the journal and purchase merch as he gets to each thought in the journal. Is it uncappropriate merch?
Starting point is 01:44:07 We look stupid. We still got a support, though. Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of it, only kind of like the samples, but it looks like stuff that you can support. He will have like the hoodies and all that stuff too, but he wants to get in the bags and all these things. But let's take a list of the Kai explaining the name of the clothing brand. The name of my clothing brand that I want to call it is Vivette. Vivette is Latin for he, she, or it will live forever. But the deeper meaning behind Vivette is to not be boxed in to what society is trying to only boxing it.
Starting point is 01:44:40 That's why this journal is so important because it's not about. the designs and the cool denim and all that and stuff. It's more about the meaning. This journal is going to go out to the public. I have to show everything. I want them to feel like this is a hub for creators of any type, whether it's content, whether it's art, whether it's clothes, whether it, whatever it is.
Starting point is 01:45:02 I feel like if I show people I can do this and I... Lauren, why you put that music on it? No, that's a part of Kai's production. This whole vlog is... Oh, that was on it. Oh, okay. Yeah, it's like a very... very dramatic look into the last couple months of his life.
Starting point is 01:45:17 He even takes you to the stream rewards. Shout to Vivette. Yes, salute to Kai, man. The emotional intelligence that man displays at his young age is incredible. And I also, I'm glad to hear him say that because I'm glad to hear him say like, he spends so much time on social media. Like, it's easy to be influenced by the opinions of others. And for him to disconnect from all of that, you know, to step out on faith so he can really hear what God is telling him.
Starting point is 01:45:40 I think that's incredible. I think so too. And that's the latest with Lauren. Thank you. You're welcome. All right. Now, let's get to the mix. Of course, today is LL Kool-J's birthday.
Starting point is 01:45:47 So we'll just throw over some LL Kool-J. Why not? Let's throw it back for a second. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. Jens hilarious.
Starting point is 01:45:55 Sholomey and the Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Yes, and I want to tell everybody, man, salute to the NAACP, right? Yesterday, Derek Johnson and Lewis Carr was up here. Yep. For the 52nd NACP Image Awards. I need y'all to know NWACP Image Awards.
Starting point is 01:46:11 I went on no site last night to vote. Y'all ain't had the literary category up there last night now. Okay. And it's 57th. You said 57. 57. Okay, 50-something. I went to go vote for Don Stanley, Uncom, and Favely,
Starting point is 01:46:24 and y'all did not have the literary category up there. Y'all had all other categories, but not the literary category. What's up with that? I went to the whole thing. Well, they know who you're going on anyway. It don't matter. I'm talking about everybody else. People can't vote.
Starting point is 01:46:36 It's not up there. The category is not there for them to vote. Well, you have their numbers call them. No, I don't have their numbers. That's what I'm saying it over the goddamn radio. Why do I do have Lewis's number, but I don't think Lewis got nothing to do with the NWATP Image Award website. And if there's other people trying to vote for the literary category, they can't do it.
Starting point is 01:46:51 Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're wondering as well. So, speaking of books, pre-order my book till death do we parent, the cool parenting memoir. I don't want y'all to just look at me like, oh, this is a comedian dropping a book. No, this is a very serious, relatable topic. It's always going to go on. I mean, because nobody's ever going to stop having babies. and unfortunately people are never going to stop having babies by people that they don't intend to staying with. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:47:18 So pre-order the book. It's a lot of life lessons, my life lessons, my experiences, and co-parenting raising my child with his dad. So yes. And then Columbus, Ohio, I will be there this Friday and Saturday at Funny Bone Comedy Club. Get your tickets if you have not yet. Jesselarious official.com. And if you want to pre-order my book, you can do it easily now. It's on my website.
Starting point is 01:47:40 or whatever you pre-order for your books. So love you all. Thank you. And before we get out of here, I want to say congratulations to my girl, my friend, my boo, Jocelyn Hernandez. She recently celebrated three years of sobriety.
Starting point is 01:47:53 Love you, girl. It's amazing how people can go on a journey of healing and then look back and be like, damn, I really came a long way. So three years, sober. That's dope. Yep. Salute to Jocelyn.
Starting point is 01:48:05 Yes, salute to Jocelyn. Does it make you question all the advice she gave you over the last few years? Oh, dear. How do you know she gave me advice? Shut up. This is my friend. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 01:48:14 Salute to Jocelyn, though. Show them, you got a positive note. Listen, there's a lot of people out there right now listening to the sound of my voice, and I want to tell y'all, man, you know in your heart was right and wrong. So do the right thing. And please remember that wrong is wrong,
Starting point is 01:48:27 even if everyone is doing it, and right is right, even if no one is doing it. Have a great day. Breakfast club, bitches. You don't finish or y'all done. Boat up, woke you up. Wake you up. Wake that ass up.
