Starting point is 00:00:00 Oh Better known as the people's choice and salute to all my light-skinned brothers out there just hilarious That's the world I've asked don't do no one and Charlemagne the guy don't get it Everybody come to the Breakfast Club. I call this the hot seat That's this stuff it's like being on America's front porch. Don't feel like my wrist touches. I never talk to me. Every time I go to a brother's club, I know it's going to be like a good man. I'm getting high.
Starting point is 00:00:33 You're doing it, yo. Jeff Salarius. Good morning. Solomon the God. Peace to the planet. It's Friday. Yes, it's Friday, and we are broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University. Clark Atlanta, what's happening? Make some noise out there. Hey. Are we in here? Yes, we are here. Friday, we are broadcasting live.
Starting point is 00:00:59 We got a lot of things to discuss today. We're going to bring a lot of you guys up here to talk about a lot of the things that's going on today in this world. Where are all the mass communication majors at? Okay, damn, y'all better be here. If I didn't see a lot of mass communication majors here, I was going to be upset this morning. So text all your friends that major in mass communication, tell them to get on down to the auditorium. That's right. I was actually surprised. I'm like, are students going to arrive at 6 a.m.? I mean, it's Thursday. Last night was Thursday in Atlanta. There was so much going on. The games.
Starting point is 00:01:26 There's always something going on in Atlanta. But there's a lot of students here and a lot of students walking in. So salute to everybody that came this morning. Well, we told them we had food and money, so they better bring their ass out to the auditorium early in the morning. You think that's what they care about? Absolutely. Okay. Yes.
Starting point is 00:01:38 All right. All right. Jess, how you feeling, Jess? I feel good. I feel good. Look, I was going to say, I never got up this early when I was in college, but I only went to college for a semester or so. Okay. So it don't count.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Did they get you your earbuds? Yep, I got them. All right, good. You know, Jess got her nice symmetrical bob going on. First of all, yeah, don't play with me like that. Got the protective hand style. And they really thought I was going to put these over top of this and smush this bob. No.
Starting point is 00:02:02 No, I'm not doing that. We're not doing that. When breakfast get here, because I'm hungry. Louis V. Breakfast is coming in. Breakfast is coming in right now. Salute the 96.1 The Beat. That's our new station here in Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:02:11 That's right. Food is coming in in a second. They're going to bring the food in. It's a Caribbean vibe morning, so it's going to be a little bit Caribbean food. Oh, so we're going to be asleep. Yes. After the food. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:02:21 I want breakfast, man. Caribbean breakfast. Oh, okay. So there ain't about to be no oxtails and grits and nothing crazy like that, right? No, no. That sounds good, though. I wouldn't stop there. All right, well, let's get the show cracking.
Starting point is 00:02:32 When we come back, we got front page news. We'll tell you about what's going on in the Supreme Court. Also, more protests. So don't go anywhere. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
Starting point is 00:02:43 We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news. Now, last night in sports, the Magic beat the Cavs 121-83. Last night, I actually seen the game at Copper Cove. Salute to Copper Cove. The 76ers destroyed the Knicks 125-114. And the Lakers lost last night 112-105. Now, if you watched the draft, anybody in the sports, football, what's your team? Football, anybody, what's your team? Don't say the Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Okay. The Steelers, somebody said. Oh, the Steelers? Oh, yeah, we in here. They just joined us. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University. They got to turn the instrumental down. I feel like I want to spit a verse, but I can't because the instrumental too loud. It's too loud? Yeah, our vocals ain't loud enough. Well, he just turned it down. Yeah, turn us up in the headphones. Now, the Giants
Starting point is 00:03:24 got Malik Nabors, who was a wide receiver. You know who you Cowboys got? No, I wasn't checked out all day yesterday. Okay, they got somebody named Tyler Gooden. Okay, we're going to the Super Bowl next year. That's what you say every year. I don't even know who he is. It don't matter. Never get there. Alright, now let's talk about some of these
Starting point is 00:03:40 protests that's been going on in a lot of these colleges. You got audio, right? New encampments of anti-war protesters popping up on other campuses now from coast to coast. More than a dozen people arrested at the University of Maryland, where students staged a sit-in for Palestinians today. Then in Atlanta, protesters clashing with police on Emory University's campus, even reports of getting tased. Georgia State Troopers also making several arrests there. I'm not mad at any of those kids' right to peacefully protest. If they have the constitutional right to do that, they should be allowed to.
Starting point is 00:04:15 But the school also has the right to reinforce whatever rules they have. Yeah, but they don't want to tase the kids. No, they shouldn't even be having no law enforcement intervening in those situations. Not at all. In no way, shape, or form. When I say that the school has the right to reinforce whatever rules they have, I'm talking about as far as those kids missing class and stuff. Yeah. Because school is still their responsibility.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Well, not only that, and then the students that are scared to go to class, that need to get walked to class or walked to the cafeteria or walked around campus, yeah, absolutely should protect those kids as well. Now, yesterday, the Supreme Court, it looks like Donald Trump filed to have absolute immunity where ex-presidents can't be charged. And the Supreme Court said this. The justices hearing arguments and former President Donald Trump's claim that he should be immune from criminal charges for acts committed while in office. And while the court is considering, in the words of one justice, a ruling for the ages for all presidents, there will be more immediate implications for Mr. Trump. Now, there's clearly some skepticism in that questioning you just heard that Mr. Trump should enjoy absolute immunity, but it is much less clear what the court will do from here. With some signals, they may not ultimately issue a definitive ruling. And if that's the case, it could delay the start of Mr. Trump's federal trial.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Basically, he doesn't want to be held accountable for nothing not at all but you can't say nobody is uh above the law in this country but then grant him absolute immunity but i don't i don't expect the supreme court to do the right thing no but i also understand why a president i guess wouldn't be charged with a lot of those crimes and may be charged but not go to jail why he's the president of the united states what does that mean because he's running again and he's going to make sure that he makes sure he doesn't go to jail. I would. Yeah, but you cannot.
Starting point is 00:05:48 I'm part of myself. Of course, but you can't give anybody in this country absolute immunity. Like, nobody should be above the law. Like, why? Just because he's white and male and privileged? He's actually orange. No. He's not above the law.
Starting point is 00:06:01 All right. Well, that is front page news. Next, I will tell you about Kim K. She actually pulled up To the White House And we'll tell you why Everybody else Get it off your chest Now students

Starting point is 00:10:05 Grew up in Florida. Hey. I'm feeling blessed today. I want to thank you guys so much for coming. But also, I wanted to highlight the encampments at Emory yesterday. Our brothers and sisters across the grass, both Morehouse and Spellman, some of them were arrested, shot with rubber bullets, tear gas. And one of our own Morehouse brothers that i know malik pool was arrested and is still his court hearing first one is today so i just wanted to bring light to that and make sure
Starting point is 00:10:30 that everybody is aware of what's going on around them and also make sure that we're also protesting ourselves on our campus we have that promenade out there and i want to see us out there and i want to see us standing up for things like this as well we can't let their efforts be in vain and we need to be a part of the fight too. Absolutely. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Good morning. Good morning. What's your name? I'm Tatiana Miller. I am a first year business administration here at the most illustrious Clark Atlanta University and I want to start off by saying first off I am so blessed because I am here and I am alive but one thing that I would love to get off my chest is I feel that us students need like a mental health week. And honestly, I feel like mental health not only is one of my biggest passions, but I feel like us as students, we need a break. Finals are coming up and everything is back, back, back, back, back.
Starting point is 00:11:19 And I really do feel like that it just needs to be highlighted more. Oh, so you want a mental health break before finals? Yes. A week before finals. I'm not mad at that. It makes sense be highlighted more. Oh, so you want a mental health break before finals? Yes. A week before finals. I'm not mad at that. It makes sense. Get your mind right before that. Clear your mind.
Starting point is 00:11:29 That makes perfect sense to me. What are we talking about that? I'm lying. I ain't got no power. I was going to say, he can't even do nothing about it. I'm going to have to speak finals next week. But that's a great idea. Yes.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Well, thank you. Thank you. All right. What's up, bro? What's your name, man? How you doing? Good morning. Peace, King.
Starting point is 00:11:43 My name is Makal Jackson from Newark, New Jersey I'm a sophomore, a mass media arts major I just want to say I'm blessed to be here I feel like everybody else is blessed to be here, too Blessed to see y'all Blessed for all this to even happen, for real And really, just best advice I would just tell everybody is like
Starting point is 00:11:55 Look, mental health is a real problem But if you really want to be healthy and happy You could change one of two things Either your mindset or your situation That's right Thank you, brother That's right And what's right. Thank you, brother. That's right.
Starting point is 00:12:07 And what's your name, bro? Good morning. My name is Myles Ross. I'm a graduating senior political science major from Morehouse. And I'll tell you that President Biden really has me stressed. I know that I've been asked before as a graduating senior if I had the opportunity to speak to him, what would I say? i say yep and i wrote a short poem i'd like to how short now yeah poems don't be short like 10 seconds probably okay so i said uh closer to the mic i'd say if i had the opportunity to speak with biden what would i say i'd say stay away from politics on my commencement day this is not the opportunity to pander to my vote. The only thing that you should do is give a Negro hope.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Tell me that you're proud that I've made it to the top because this is not the time for a measly photo op. If you want to address global issues, do it from the White House, because when you come to Morehouse, you're stepping into my house. So watch what you say to me in my Whitney Houston voice. You have an opportunity to make the right choice. If I had an opportunity, this is what I'd say. Keep your security in check on my commencement day. If you want to give an act of service, some money would be nice. So when it's time for reelection, I may not have to think twice. Give us the money that you've spent to fund a genocide so I can live in comfort in the
Starting point is 00:13:27 country I reside. If I had the opportunity, this is what I'd say. Don't open yourself to scrutiny on my commencement day. I know that's right. Alright. How's somebody from Morehouse sneaking into Clark Atlanta?
Starting point is 00:13:42 I know, right, right. And that was not 10 seconds. Everybody neighbors. Alright. How's somebody from Morehouse sneaking into Clark Atlanta? I know, right, right. And that was not 10 seconds. That's it. Everybody neighbors. Everybody neighbors. So, man. All right. Well, we're going to come back to you. We're going to come back to you. We got to pay some more bills.
Starting point is 00:13:51 We'll come back to you. Okay. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. Now, we got just a mess coming up. What are we talking about? We're talking about a bunch of stuff. But I want to get their approval to see if they really care about it.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Okay. Because we're Clark Atlanta. So, I'm going to ask them a flurry story. Y'all care about this? And they'll be like, yeah, I'm a seller. All right. And we'll get to that next. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University. Clark Atlanta!
Starting point is 00:14:21 96.1 the beat. They so lit, too. Absolutely. Well, let's get right into it. Let's get to Jess with the mess. They so lit too. Absolutely. Well, let's get right into it. Let's get to Jess with the mess. Your news is real, brother. Everybody in Jessica Robin Moore, Jess don't do no lying. Don't do no lying.
Starting point is 00:14:33 She don't spare nobody. Worldwide Jess, worldwide mess. On The Breakfast Club. She's a culture shift. She was able to get y'all to see something and understand something that nobody could get you to see. It's time to set it off. Okay, so in Baltimore news, because y'all know where I'm from. Baltimore has, I got a Baltimore baddie in the building.
Starting point is 00:14:56 What's up, girl? How many from Baltimore? You got a couple from Baltimore. I see two. Oh, yes. I see two from Baltimore. I heard she was, I'm from Baltimore too. I was like, what's up, girl?
Starting point is 00:15:04 Okay. I see T from Baltimore. I heard she was like, I'm from Baltimore too. I was like, what's up, girl? Okay. So in our city of Pikesville High, a high school athletic director got arrested yesterday for being a fraud. On to the news report. The clip posted to social media includes racist and anti-Semitic insults about students. Now, county leaders believe it was AI generated. Detectives found former athletic director Dazon Darien to be responsible for the clip, believed to be retaliation after finding out his contract would not be renewed.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Yeah, so he was accused of making a fake recording of the principal saying racist things about him. So, back story on that. So, he was, first of all, no, let me play what he said. The rap AI. The rap AI. Yeah, because I'm going to explain the backstory later. Play the second clip. You know, I seriously don't understand why I have to constantly put up with these dumbasses here every day. Between these ungrateful black kids who can't test their way out of a paper bag.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Or these teachers who don't get it. How hard is it to get these students to meet their grade level expectations? Lawrence and Ravenel should have never been hired. And don't let me get started on DJ. I'm going to drag his black ass out of here one way or another. I'm just so sick of the inadequacies of these people. And if I have to get one more complaint from one more Jew in this community, I'm going to join the other side. Jesus. The police said some of the audio was so bad that they couldn't even include it in the report. That AI was better than the AI Drake used for that kindred. It really was.
Starting point is 00:16:28 It really was. However, it was fake. And the reason why the athletic director was arrested is because, all right, so back in December, he got fired. Well, he was under investigation. He was fired for mishandling funds. Right. So this is supposedly his get back to the principal. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:44 And the principal right and the principal he was about he was a hot water for it he lost his job so he's going to get his job back eventually but yeah this is like some tip the set how did they figure out was a guy do we know yeah I don't think it's really a but you know that's gonna be the new don't do that no I think that really was the principal but I think I think that's gonna be the excuse But I think that's going to be the excuse moving forward. And it's sad that we live in a world where we don't even, where we're going to have to decide whether something is real or something is not. But obviously he had to prove it was fake because he got his job back.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Yeah, that's what they're saying. Yeah, during the process, they found out that the clip was made using AI and it linked back to the high school's athletic director. Detectives believe the athletic director made the recording to retaliate after he was investigated for potential mishandling the funds. He didn't say. They didn't say exactly how, but they said that, yeah. Okay. They found out it was fake and it traced back to him. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Don't try to do my facts like that. That ain't your fact. Yeah, I mean, but no. Don't do it. Oh, it's for real. It's for real. All right. He said, I'm going to drag his black ass out of here.
Starting point is 00:17:44 All right. So, I don't know if drag his black ass out of here. All right. So I don't know if y'all care about this. Y'all care about Ne-Yo, baby mother? They said, yeah. They said, yeah. A lot of them are like, no, I'm going to tell y'all anyway. They're like, me and you care about Ne-Yo, really? So yesterday.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Jesus. Don't do that. Jesus. Stop playing with Ne-Yo, y'all. Shout out to Ne-Yo. Okay. So yesterday's baby mother, Sade, right, she went on live. And she had him on live while he's playing a video game
Starting point is 00:18:07 Then he's supposed been watching the kids She went live like accused him of not watching the kids, but we didn't see no kids in the video So now both of y'all are not watching the kids and we have the audio played Tell him about the freak off Diddy Jr. Diddy Jr. tell him about the freak off He calling the police Come on. Police. Police.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Y'all, guess what? Over what? Over what? Because he want over the house while his kids is here. Why? He like to have weed, alcohol, mushrooms, and prostitutes in the house while his kids are here. Everyone has asked him to stop, but he will not listen to nobody. So pretty much provoking Neo to do something to her. So has her camera or whatever she has her camera out um but and i guess she went through them comments
Starting point is 00:18:53 and seeing that nobody jumped on her side i guess she wanted us to all jump on neo she wanted the fans to be like oh no no no but it didn't go that way so jump on neo for what all we've seen is that he said not even he said she said conversation just what she said and he was just like leave leave and he called the police on her um so she posted an apology in her story yesterday basically saying so i'm drinking tea talking to my dad and i realized that um i shouldn't have put our business online and that emotions were high and i have postpartum built up with frustration and I just want him to show up
Starting point is 00:19:27 and be the best him. So I don't... Yeah, but you can't just... Basically, she clowned out. You can't just apologize after calling me Diddy Jr. You know what that means nowadays. And then saying, you know,
Starting point is 00:19:37 like she was saying that he had manhandled her and hit her. You know what I'm saying? All of that, yep. Because if people would have believed that he'd have lost everything, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:44 He wouldn't be able to tour. He would have lost endorsements. If people that probably still believe it because, you know, the apology is never as loud as the accusation. Yep, yep. And then,
Starting point is 00:19:54 so after she did that, made the apology, she went back online and started coming at people. She was living in them comments. That postpartum had her all in the comments because she was shooting at people, shooting at people. Like, everybody else catching straights, too.
Starting point is 00:20:08 Isn't it scary, though, how, you know, just last year, Diddy Jr. meant something totally different. It meant you was a mogul. You had all these people out here that said, I'm Diddy in my city. Not no more. Nope. Not at all. Not no more. That's messed up, but that is Jess with the mess for the first hour.
Starting point is 00:20:23 All right. Thank you, Jess. When we come back, we got front page news. Kim Kardashian was at the White House. We'll tell you why. And then when we come back from that, we're going to be having kind of like a town hall meeting here, right? Mm-mm.
Starting point is 00:20:33 A town hall meeting. We're going to have a town hall. Right? Okay. And we want to talk to the students here because we're broadcasting live from Clark I want to know what the students are going to do come November. What you mean? Come November because, you know, I respect every student.
Starting point is 00:20:44 Oh. Oh. Oh. Okay. We're going to talk about it when we come back. We're going to talk about it when we come back. They ready. They ready to roll. All right.
Starting point is 00:20:51 He ready to go. He ready to go. All right. Like I said, we're live at Clark Atlanta University, 96.1 The Beat. It's The Breakfast Club. Get your ass up. You're checking out The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody.

We are the Breakfast Club Morning everybody, it's DJ Envy Jess Hilarious, Sheldon Mendegawe We are the Breakfast Club Let's get in some front page news Jess hungry y'all, get her some food please She pregnant Won't y'all act like she pregnant for once She don't want the fruit, she want food food though
Starting point is 00:21:17 I just asked him for a piece of fruit And he go and say over the mic Oh you said fruit, I thought you said food You thought I said food I'm sorry Boy, I just said fruit, please. There you go. Fruit.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Shut up. All right. Now let's start with some sports. Last night, the Magic beat the Cavaliers 121-83. The 76ers beat the Knicks 125-114. The Nuggets beat the Lakers 112-105. And last night was the draft. Caleb Williams was drafted number one to the Bears.
Starting point is 00:21:43 My Giants got Malik Nabors wide receiver. Charlamagne doesn't know who he got. Tyler Gooden. You don't know who that is still, right? Uh-uh. Okay. All right. Atlanta got a black quarterback, too.
Starting point is 00:21:53 They drafted a black quarterback last night. Who got his name? I think Michael Penix. Penix, I think it is. Michael Penix, Jr. All right. Now, yesterday, Joe Biden granted clemency to 16 Americans convicted of nonviolent drug offenses. And Kim Kardashian was at the White House to discuss.
Starting point is 00:22:10 I just wanted to start off by thanking you, Madam Vice President, for all of the consultations and the pardons that are happening. It was actually this very room that I was in years ago, my first clemency meeting, that really inspired me to take a journey of really helping to figure out how I can be helpful and how I can tell the amazing stories that I would hear from the success stories from individuals like yourself. And I didn't know a whole lot, and I was inspired to go to law school and really further my education to see what I can do to help and not rely on my attorneys to kind of translate everything for me because I really couldn't grasp what all of this means.
Starting point is 00:23:15 You know Democrats don't know how to message anything. As soon as you see Kim Kardashian joins Kamala Harris at the White House to talk criminal justice reform. You just roll your eyes. Okay, but what the event was actually about was what you said. President Biden issued pardons for 11 people and commuted the sentences of five others who have been convicted of nonviolent drug offenses. So that's a good thing. That is. You know, that's a good thing. That is. And that's front page news.
Starting point is 00:23:37 We're about to have a town hall meeting, right? Yes. 800-585-1051. You guys can call in as well. But we're speaking to the students here this morning at Clark Atlanta University. Yeah, because I respect every student across America's right to protest, but we know elections have consequences. And I heard the young
Starting point is 00:23:52 brother... Hey, Antonio went deaf-ass. Oh, he ain't lying. And I heard Antonio, I overheard him say earlier, Biden lost his vote. Right. And you know, this is one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime. I'm not a fan of President Biden in any way, and I think Democrats are cowards,
Starting point is 00:24:08 but Donald Trump is a fascist. Right. And you know, he's a would-be dictator who is a complete threat to democracy. So I need to know, what do y'all plan to do in November? That's right. And we're going to do that when we come back. Don't answer him now. Antonio. Antonio's ready to rock and roll. He's ready. We're going to talk to that when we come back, so don't go anywhere.
Starting point is 00:24:26 We're broadcasting live. We got food. How come we have food for the students? Yeah, where's that? He said, yeah, where's that? Where's that? Where's that? I'm up here eating oatmeal.
Starting point is 00:24:36 They out there with white around their mouth looking hungry. They ain't got no white around their mouth. Yes, they do. No, they don't. They here for the food. It's who they eat they're going to eat. No, that ain't true. It's 96.1 The Beat.
Starting point is 00:24:44 We at Clark Atlanta University. It's The they eat they're going to eat. No, that ain't true. It's 96.1 The Beat. We at Clark Atlanta University. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We are broadcasting live from Atlanta, Clark Atlanta University.
Starting point is 00:24:59 96.1 The Beat. What up, y'all? HBCU, of course. We here on this beautiful campus With all these beautiful black students Make some more noise for yourselves You know y'all the future right And whatever future this country has
Starting point is 00:25:15 You all represent so much of that So that's why we want to talk to y'all this morning If that bug comes over here y'all let me know alright Just so you know Alright now we have a town hall meeting And we want to discuss a lot of the things that's going on right now well really the current protests that are happening around the country like you know we see what's happening on on campuses you know all around the country and i heard the brother antonio earlier say how president biden um has lost his vote right so
Starting point is 00:25:40 i'm just you know i'm just wondering you know what with with what's going on currently on campuses around the country, how is that going to impact y'all in November? Because I do think President Biden is trash, but also Donald Trump is a would-be dictator. He's a threat to democracy as we know it. I don't think you can have somebody in this country, number one,
Starting point is 00:25:59 who's got all the alleged criminal charges that he has, but also somebody who doesn't care about the Constitution in any way, shape, or form. He wanted to, you know, suspend the Constitution to overthrow the results of an election. Right. But also, you know, like you said, it's two people that a lot of people don't like, but people have to get out there and vote. And Antonio said earlier that Biden lost his vote. So, Antonio. Good morning, Antonio.
Starting point is 00:26:20 The floor is yours, Antonio. Good morning, guys. What's up, y'all? What's up, what's up? Good morning. Okay, so I will will say four years ago i was a diehard joe biden fan right to the point i made skits that went viral to make a mockery out of the trump administration um but four years later i will say whoever's joe biden campaign manager needs to be fired on joe biden i agree yeah like. Why would you support Israel and also ban, try to like ban TikTok right before the election?
Starting point is 00:26:50 Like, Gen Z, we're not voting for you. Sorry. We lost a lot of our votes. But we're also, I'm not voting for Trump either. But I'm not the type of person where I'm going to say, oh, I'm not voting at all. So hopefully whoever's like the independent is like a better option. Like, you know, I'm all about change. You vote for third party
Starting point is 00:27:05 candidate i've worked this time and like it's just it's weird we have two bad options at this point because it's just showing like joe biden are you really like for the people like you say you were like four years ago like this is weird it's weird like you're funding israel what's what's that about you know so yeah there's a good point in the way that he does now who's behind what's your name brother hi my name is DJ Williams I'm a freshman mass media arts major and first off I want to say free Palestine and second of all just like he said I was a diehard Biden fan and it was mainly because i didn't want trump to win again and then it's like as you grow older and you mature and you sit and watch it as a person who's a supposed to be a first-time voter i can say that joe biden doesn't have my vote either wow
Starting point is 00:27:55 because i don't know it's like i can't really sit here and say that he's done enough for us Gen Zers and us as like black people. I feel like it's like you come, you eat with us, you come campaign in our city and things like that. But what are you really doing? Yeah. You just come in here for a photo op. You come in here for votes and we're not votes. We're not a photo op. We're people. We have rights. We have opinions. And it's like if you're going to actually sit down and listen and talk to us and see what we want then do that but don't come just because you need votes and it looks good on your campaign and i feel like that's all he's doing how old are you i'm 19 okay yes so and politics is something that's close and near and dear to me i've been
Starting point is 00:28:42 a person of politics since i was young history is my thing so it's like just sitting watching even as vice president i couldn't really sit here and say oh joe biden did this joe biden did that he's just always been there sitting on the sidelines and watching so as him watching him become president of course it was joyous because it's not trump but it's like now it's not really much he's really doing for us so what are y'all what are you planning to do come november like we know antonio said he might vote for robert f kennedy jr okay okay so you vote third party i'll vote for robert f kennedy jr robert f kennedy jr actually came to clark atlanta last semester and i got to watch him speak and i asked we all asked
Starting point is 00:29:23 him a couple questions on like what he planned on doing and what i really what i when i i was really hooked on him when he when he spoke about his stance on hbcus because i mentioned to him that funding was substantially cut for hbcus that's why people a lot of people complain about their experiences here because we don't have the funding you know that's why it's so expensive so when i asked him what he planned on doing about it he spoke from his heart and how we're the future and i was one of the only students in that crowd so he has my vote well thank you for your opinion i appreciate you thank you appreciate the share but i gotta let you know i do want to let you know just to be fair the biden harris administration has invested over $7 billion in HBCUs.
Starting point is 00:30:06 Just want to throw that out there. Right. You know. And we got more people on the mic. They say we got to, we'll come right back to you. We're going to play a song and we'll come right back to you. All right. Promise.
Starting point is 00:30:16 All right. It is the Breakfast Club. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University, 96.1 The Beat. Make some noise so they can hear y'all. That's right. And it's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jessa Larry, and Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University 96.1 The Beat. Make some noise, y'all. It's early.
Starting point is 00:30:41 Now, we're having kind of like a town hall this morning where we're talking to the students, getting their opinions. This is very interesting. This is why I love doing morning radio because, you know, like we say the Breakfast Club is America's front porch, right? Yeah. Like we get to sit down and like talk to people like this every single morning. See what's really going on out here in these streets. That's right. And we have a young lady on the mic right now.
Starting point is 00:31:01 What's your name? My name is Hannah Puna. I was just here a couple minutes ago. Please, Hannah. I'm from North Carolina and Florida. Okay. And I just wanted to make it clear that it really does not make sense to vote for Biden anymore. He does not represent us and represent advocacy for the black community.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Because how are you going to financially support a genocide and then come to the AUC where you know that Cop City is being built, where you know that our community is being targeted and talk to us? That just doesn't make any sense to me. My personal message is stop Cop City, free Palestine, free Congo, free Yemen, free Syria, free Afghanistan, and all these countries that are under attack and going under genocide that he is ignoring
Starting point is 00:31:47 or either directly supporting. What would you like to hear, Hannah, from President Biden that would make you vote for him in November? De-invest in Palestine. De-invest in the war. Why are you putting money
Starting point is 00:32:02 towards that? If you are the president, you can do something about Cops City. Demilitarize the AUC and demilitarize all the countries I just listed. Well, thank you so much. And if you're just tuning in, yes, we are at Kaukalanda University. This is not a hate train of Biden. We're just putting students on the mic and letting them talk. We're asking the students what they plan to do in November.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Because, you know, you look at everything that's going on, you know, on campuses all across the country. And when I heard Antonio say that earlier, that President Biden has lost his vote, I'm like, yo, let's just talk to the students and see what's happening. Now we got another gentleman on the mic. What's your name, bro? My name is Ezekiel Stevens, Mass Media Arts major, concentration TV, radio and film from Saginaw, Michigan. Mr. Clark Lane, University elect. All right. What's your opinion your opinion brother? How you feeling? Honestly, I'm a little confused, you know, a little distraught
Starting point is 00:32:50 at the fact that recently we had Donald Trump come on the west side of Atlanta. He came to Chick-fil-A and I guess he won some votes because he gave away, you know, 30 milkshakes and chicken sandwiches. That's all it's going to take? Some milkshakes and some chicken chicken sandwiches and it threw me off it threw
Starting point is 00:33:09 me off cuz you know this is the Mecca of black people you know this this is like but also you know Chick-fil-a has so much conservative values like you know he came to our side of town. And that really broke me because it's like it took for a chicken sandwich to win us over. You know what I'm saying? And I didn't like that. And the fact of the matter is people are saying they're voting for him just because of the simple fact of a $1,200 stimulus check. Not realizing that it was a Democrat woman that helped that,
Starting point is 00:33:46 that put that together. Not him. He just signed off. You know what I'm saying? Democratic Congress. Uh-huh. Oh, yeah. Democratic Congress.
Starting point is 00:33:53 And with Joe Biden, it's just like you come into Morehouse to do a commencement speech. And I haven't heard any good things besides the, you know, funding of HBCUs. What else have you done? So it's like they're using us as their meal ticket to get wins, to get dubs. And I'm not a meal ticket. I'm sorry. I don't look at it like that. If you're going to represent me or represent something, you know what I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:34:21 represent us for the right cause, not just for no chicken sandwiches and a commencement speech to sit here and say, oh, yeah, I'm going to give y'all student of depth relief. Granted, that is good, but don't sit here and do that for no votes, man. Do it out of the kindness of your heart. What do you plan to do in November? What I plan to do? I plan to vote for my local government, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:34:39 At the end of the day, that's who really make the big dollars, the big bills. That's who really make the votes. At the end of the day, we got a mayor, Andre Dickens. We also got our congressman. We got about, what, 14? 14 in the Georgia district. Is that right? I think.
Starting point is 00:34:52 I don't know. Politics. Okay. Yeah, so I plan to vote for whoever's in the local government right now. You know? I'm really. I still got some thinking to do. I can't believe we got here in America where we don't have any good options for the president of the United States of America.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Yeah, that we like. Yeah. And also, too, when y'all remember, man, when y'all talk about those stimulus checks, please understand they didn't just give y'all $1,200. There was a global pandemic where millions of people had to die for y'all to get that money. So please don't think that somebody just gave that to y'all out of the goodness of your heart. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. How are you?
Starting point is 00:35:27 How are you? What's your name? We got to come back. We got to play something. We're going to come right back to her. What? What? Nothing.
Starting point is 00:35:33 We got to play some music, man. We'll be right back. All right. 805-85-105-1. We're at Clark Atlanta University. I will say this, though. These students give me a lot of hope, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:43 Because when I was in... I ain't getting no hope From these students No What the hell You talking about It sounds like Trump About to be in the White House I ain't getting me
Starting point is 00:35:50 No hope this morning I ain't getting no damn hope From these folks They're into politics And into things That when I was a student That I wasn't into When I was a freshman
Starting point is 00:35:57 I was more concerned With partying And I think a lot of us were But the fact that They're into politics They know what's going on They see the future I love it Yeah if you see How you say that like a lot of us was like going to say i was only into
Starting point is 00:36:10 partying i went to school for a semester exactly yeah all right don't exactly me i learned some stuff there what you learn come on mb we gotta go to the commercials all right when we come back it's the breakfast slow good morning morning everybody it's everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Alaria, Shalameen Nega. We are the Breakfast Club, broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University. 96.1 The Beat, and we're having a town hall meeting with the students right now. Yeah, because, I mean, you see everything that's going on on campuses all around the country. And, you know, like I said earlier, I heard the brother Antonio say, you know, because of that, you know, is that the reason President Biden's allowed to vote? That and TikTok, you said, right?
Starting point is 00:36:43 Yeah, honestly. You're not on the mic. They can't hear you. They can't hear you. You just nod your vote that in tiktok you said right yeah honestly you're not on my show they can't hear you you just nod your head yes okay antonio not playing i understand everybody's feelings towards president biden i don't like president biden either but look at the other option donald trump is a fascist a would-be dictator he's a complete threat to democracy as we know it right so sitting out in november is not not an option it is not an option It's not an option But I'm not going to tell y'all who to vote for either
Starting point is 00:37:07 Correct And we have another young lady at the mic What's your name? I'm Victoria Smiley Thank you for having us All I have to say to my fellow young people Whether you're in the room or listening on air Is that now is not the time to
Starting point is 00:37:19 Feel like your vote doesn't matter We have a duty to get up and go to the polls Whether or not you know who exactly you're voting for, whether it's Joe Biden, Trump, or somebody else. What we have as a civic duty privilege is to go to the polls. Our ancestors fought and died for that right. So the least we can do is make sure that from here to November, we educate ourselves as much as possible to make an informed decision on who we're going to have in office. That's the least we can do. And we owe it to ourselves and our ancestors because they died and people are still dying today, getting up, fighting for the right to vote. They won't even let us pass out water and snacks at the polls.
Starting point is 00:37:51 So, you know, they're working hard and relying on us being uneducated. So from now until that point, make sure y'all are doing your part, researching, educating ourselves. And when the time comes, go vote. Thank you. All right, girl. Yes. Appreciate it. And what's your name? What's your name? Hi, y'all. My name is Ariana Irvin.
Starting point is 00:38:13 I'm from Wisconsin. And I'm a math and media major. OK. What's up, Chris? Talk to us. What's your thoughts? I was just going to say, like, back in 2020, I'm from Kenosha. So that's when, like, the Jacob Blake and everything happened. And I was a huge student activist.
Starting point is 00:38:29 And it, like, turned into burnout because politics are the biggest fraud, the biggest scam ever. And when it comes to these politicians, and especially during election season, the way that they're going to get rid of TikTok, because that's the way our generation spreads information. That's how we get the truth about these people, and they don't like that. And so when it comes to Trump, I get so discouraged seeing black people in the shade room, comments room comments everything talking about that they're going to vote for trump they excited for these stimulus checks twelve hundred dollars is nothing especially as a as a college student that goes by like water that's that's like 50 bucks for real so beginning for real come on y'all for real so getting excited over this check and then when he came like i was walking and then the whole it's like the whole world stopped because Trump came in town. And then to see later that he going to slide to Chick-fil-A and everybody's cheesing, all teeth, smiling, excited for some milkshakes.
Starting point is 00:39:13 When he's a fascist, he's a racist. And, like, back in 20, when he said we thugs and everything for being in the streets and protesting and being honest about what we're going through. And then when it comes to Biden, I see how everybody feels like he's barely done anything for us. You know, he's done things. And I feel like he was mostly put front and center for the black community because he has Kamala Harris on his side. But then really, man, like, we got so much more to do. We got so much. And just the things that he's doing, we got to do more.
Starting point is 00:39:39 And just the whole genocide is completely wrong. And the way they're trying to silence us is a shame completely. So this is a stupid question, but what do you plan to do in November? We got, like my good sister said, we got to vote regardless. The big issue was a couple years ago, everybody was like, oh, I'm just not going to vote at all. It's like a terrible decision.
Starting point is 00:39:56 You got to vote at the end of the day because that's our right. We fought for this. And at the end of the day, if you don't, then you can't have anything to say about it. Because you didn't put your vote, you didn't use your voice. Absolutely. Y'all, please vote. Please vote.
Starting point is 00:40:08 Thank you so much. All right. We heard it here from the students. Yeah, I respect every student across America's right to protest, like I said. And, you know, elections do have consequences. And when I see you kids out here protesting the way y'all are, I feel like we need more of that for various issues. When you vote people in office, you have to mobilize and strategize and continue to push these people you can't just vote and then you know what way
Starting point is 00:40:31 yeah y'all got to continue to push these folks the way that y'all you know pushing now so that's what gives me hope that's all last this is that spoke gave me hope definitely the rest of y'all I'm thinking about living in Ghana now stop it man stop it all right well when we come back we got just with the mess what we talking about i hate when you do that because then i gotta remember she was arrested i know y'all i know i know all right the biggest reaction y'all want to go mobilize and protest to get sukiyana out'm sure. And we'll get to that next at all moves. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Hey! Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Jess's Food, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. We're broadcasting live
Starting point is 00:41:14 from Clark Atlanta. Clark Atlanta! 96.1 the beat. Yes, y'all. I love being out here with the people talking to real humans, not a bunch of bots.
Starting point is 00:41:21 You know what I mean? Get to really see what y'all feeling. Get to really see what y'all on. That's right. Absolutely. And listen, tomorrow in Atlanta, we got the second annual Black Effect Podcast
Starting point is 00:41:29 Festival happening at Pullman Yards, man. So if y'all don't got y'all tickets yet, go get your tickets. We got Wallow and Gilly on that podcast stage. Jess Hilarious is going to be on that podcast stage doing her podcast, Carefully Reckless. Poor Minds Podcast is going to be on that stage. Horrible Decisions,

We got some tickets, right? We got some tickets to give away. Yeah, we should be able to give some students here tickets if y'all want to pull up. That's right. And then also, next time, we
Starting point is 00:42:01 actually have some money for some of the students. We got our own STEMIs. We got Breakfast Club STEMIs. We got Breakfast Club STEMIs, yes. So we're going to money for some of the students. We got our own stimmies. We got Breakfast Club stimmies. We got Breakfast Club stimmies, yes. So we're going to give away some money. So I think it's raffle, right? So make sure you have your raffle ticket. I think they gave you a ticket on the way in. So hold on to that ticket because we got some bread for y'all.
Starting point is 00:42:14 And nobody had to get sick and die for us to give y'all stimulus checks. That's right. That is true. Now, also, next hour, we do a segment called Just Fix My Mess. So if you're having a problem with your boyfriend or girlfriend and you need some help and you want to be a little open, Jess is here to help you. You think these kids want to air out their relationship problems? We're asking.
Starting point is 00:42:35 That's what we're asking. See, I don't mind. I don't mind. I don't mind. I told you. She needs help. She needs help. Yeah, she needs help.
Starting point is 00:42:42 So what I need you to do is come talk to Louis V so we can get your name, get your problems, and then we'll come back to you next hour, all right? Oh, and Donkey of the Day, too. I'm going to let y'all do Donkey of the Day. Really? Yeah. So the students can give Donkey of the Day to whoever they want. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:56 Look at you. She out there pumped up. She ready. You got somebody you want to give Donkey of the Day to? She got a list. You got somebody you want to give Donkey of the Day to? She said maybe. She said maybe. All right. Okay, so we donkey today to? She said maybe. She said maybe.
Starting point is 00:43:05 Okay, so we're going to do that next hour. But coming up next, we got Jess with the mess. Jess put the piece of steak down. Look at all this food, Jess.
Starting point is 00:43:11 All of this is just food by herself. Don't stop trying to act like this is all mine. Eggs, pancakes, potatoes, steak. They put the whole spread in front of me.
Starting point is 00:43:17 This is for y'all. So how come ain't nobody else eating out of it but you? I don't know. I don't know. Y'all too slow. I don't know what's wrong with y'all,
Starting point is 00:43:23 but it's so good. And this is from the restaurant. Juvay. Juvay, yeah. He knew I was already messing up. That's why I helped't know. Y'all too slow. I don't know what's wrong with y'all, but it's so good. And this is from the restaurant. Juvay. Juvay. Juvay. He knew I was already messing up. That's why I helped you out. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:43:32 Yep, Juvay. You going to tell us what we got coming up? Oh, yes. All right, listen. So, Suki is arrested, y'all. I know y'all were upset about it, but I got some news for y'all. All right. We'll do that when we come back.
Starting point is 00:43:45 So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University. Salute to 96.1 The Beat.
Starting point is 00:43:55 Yes. Make some noise so they can hear y'all. All right. Here we go. Now let's get to Jess with the mess. Your news is real, brother. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious.
Starting point is 00:44:04 Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious.
Starting point is 00:44:04 Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess Hilarious. Jess Hilarious, Jess with the mess. Your news is real, brother. Where's your friends? I'm Jess Carabamore. Jess don't do no lies. Don't do no lies. She don't spread nobody. Worldwide Jess. Worldwide Madness. On The Breakfast Club. The culture shift. She was able to get y'all to see something and understand something that nobody could get you to see.
Starting point is 00:44:23 It's time to set it on. So right there, I was telling all me and right. and understand something that nobody could get you to see. It's time to settle it all. So at that old town hall meeting, right, they went from Trump and Biden to what? Suki locked up? Suki locked up. Suki, Suki. Both of them. Suki locked up.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Okay, so. Y'all don't even know what you're in jail for yet. Y'all yelling free. Y'all don't even know. Free her, but free her, right? All right, well, this is her mugshot picture right here. Let me see. Take a good look, y'all.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Beautiful. She was, yep, she's very beautiful. That this is her mugshot picture right here. Let me see. Take a good look, y'all. Beautiful. Yep, she's very beautiful. That's a beautiful mugshot. But she's being charged with possession of Molly and coding with the intent to sell it. Somebody said, okay, Molly. Search her. Search that woman. But she should be home in no time because her bond is rather cheap.
Starting point is 00:45:01 It's $7,500. So she should be back out here on the street, y'all. So y'all can celebrate. So she was trying to sell it? They said with the intent to sell. So I can only say allegedly. I'm not going to say my sister's trying to sell it. No, that just means that she probably had a large enough amount that there's no way she could be using this. And so they
Starting point is 00:45:17 probably thought she was selling it. But I doubt Sukiana was selling Molly and Cody. Yeah. Yeah, you never know. Welliktok did just get banned people gotta find some way to mix oh my god and and speaking of tiktok they standing on business so y'all know what's been going on they was trying to sell it they said it was going to be banned unless they can sell it in nine months and i reported yesterday the soldier boy offered to buy it um you know and they knew he didn't have it, so they didn't respond to him. But they also did say the parent company is ByteDance.
Starting point is 00:45:47 They said that they are not selling. They're actually OK if it's banned in the U.S. Wow. Yeah. So but they made it clear that regardless of how the legal battle goes, they are not selling it. So you're like, you're not getting this money. I mean, you're not. The bad thing is probably going to hurt more.
Starting point is 00:46:02 It's going to hurt us more than anything else. Because think about all the jobs people are going to lose for TikTok America, TikTok US, and how they have all their businesses set up, you know, around the country. People are going to lose jobs. And also, like that baby girl said earlier, my Kenosha girl, she said, listen, they are scared of us while we have platforms like this because we are getting this information. We're spreading it. We're waking up. You know, and they want that to be limited so i mean there is something to that
Starting point is 00:46:28 because i mean uh jury number five in the trump trial said that she gets her news from tiktok yeah in google and that she also listens to the breakfast not for news though no she just listens yeah okay well that's i think that's nice that you say she listened oh absolutely yes that's great all right scissor admit she admits to not liking one of her hit songs what's your favorite scissor song real quick it's snooze right so i say it's snooze it's snooze look the guy in the back said nah it's not snooze but she had tweeted and said that she wasn't that she's not gonna lie snooze was not her favorite song when she made the album. But apparently, she played it at the beach the other day, and it was nice. She said she's late, but she just wanted to thank us for riding with her.
Starting point is 00:47:12 So we know that Snooze was released on her 2022 SOS album. And this is just some facts about Snooze, because I didn't even know this. Back in February, Snooze broke the Billboard record for R&B and hip-hop. It spent 30 weeks at number one. Jesus. And it beat my guy. It beat Go Crazy by Chris Brown and Young Thug. It beat No Guidance by Chris Brown and Drake.
Starting point is 00:47:33 And Essence by Wizkid, Justin Bieber, and Tim. So, yeah, that's Clabberduff for Sizzle. Absolutely. Yeah, yeah. Snooze is still playing crazy now after two years. Yeah, we play it too much still. But that's also a prime example of why you should listen to other people sometimes. Because, you know, sometimes people see things in you or see or hear things in you that you don't hear in yourself.
Starting point is 00:47:54 She probably didn't hear it was a hit, but somebody around her did. Somebody definitely did. Now, Beyonce, she might have made Cowboy Carter out of revenge. So a fan who was in the CMA's audience back in 2016 at the awards, they think they know the exact moment that Beyoncé decided to make a country album. So the fans claim that while Beyoncé was performing on the Country Music Awards stage, somebody yelled, get that black bitch off the stage. Damn. Yeah, that's what they said.
Starting point is 00:48:22 So she went and bought a cowboy hat. No. Cowboy album. stage yeah that's what they said so she went and bought a cowboy hat so no but this this audience member like remembers not not just one person this these were people that were talking crap about beyonce while she was performing you know of course white people um and it said uh this album's clearly for whoever yelled get that black bitch off the stage and beyonce knows carter's direction while she performed at the Country Music Awards. I love the energy.
Starting point is 00:48:46 Because y'all know this. Y'all listen to Cowboy Carter yet? Yes. It's lit, ain't it? It's lit. And I got a Baltimore sister on there. Her name's Brittany. So check out Blackbird on there.
Starting point is 00:48:56 And that was in 2016? That was in 2016. 2016. She was at the Sam A's performing. Back then, she was the only thing about getting revenge on Jay-Z. That was the whole Lemonade album. That was the Lemonade. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:04 But she had a country song on there, Daddy Lessons. Oh, she did have Daddy Lessons on there. So she may have, I'm not sure what she was performing, but if it was a country music boy. Damn, she sprayed the block. She's, I'm going to start at home, and then I'm going to come back to y'all white folks. And she got it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:16 Yep. So that is the Jess with the Miz. All right. Thank you, Jess. Now it's time for Donkey of the Day, and we're going to do it different today. Yeah, we're going to let some of the students from Clark Atlanta University give somebody the credit they deserve for being stupid. Alright. Yes.
Starting point is 00:49:29 So we're going to set you guys up to the mic on the right side of us, and this is how it works. You get on the mic, tell us who you want to give Donkey of the Day to, and why. And I'm not responsible for nothing y'all say, so if y'all put one of y'all professors on blast, then they fail you. They ain't got nothing to do with me. Alright, and we'll do that next. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University.
Starting point is 00:49:47 96.1 to beat. And then after, just fix my mess. So if you're having relationship problems, you can ask Jess whatever you want. And it don't always have to be relationship problems. It can be like something with your homegirls, something with your homeboys, you know, a problem at work that
Starting point is 00:50:02 you got. You trying to hug Biggie back? You know, you ask him about that. I'm not giving no more advice to no more Big Bad people. All right. We'll do it when we come back. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. You're checking out The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:50:18 It's your time to nominate a donkey of your own. Remember now, that's just how they choose. Call in now. 800-585-1051. Lord have mercy. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University. Yes. Make some noise for yourself. And we are going to let students from Clark Atlanta University and the one brother who snuck in from Morehouse,
Starting point is 00:50:42 we're going to let y'all do y'all own donkey of the day. What's your name, brother? I'm Rashad, a senior at Clark Atlanta. Okay, who you want to give Donkey of the Days to? Quavo. Quavo? Atlanta's own Quavo? Jesus.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Yeah, it's just like, the first song was okay, the second song was trash. How do you drop a diss track and you still have the worst verse on your song? It's kind of... Just got to get back in the booth. Damn. That's right. get back in the booth damn the views of the of Quavo by the Clark Atlanta University students in that and he from Atlanta he from Atlanta he from Atlanta he got the right to say
Starting point is 00:51:15 that's gonna say you know it's bad when one of his own give him don't sell me off that's just good teaching yes sir what's up my ducky today is um Neal's baby mother yeah clown she She's a clown. She did too much. It clowned out. Why are you saying that? Because you and Ne-Yo got the same head? I bet if you take that dude over. I'm not playing with you.
Starting point is 00:51:31 I'm not playing with you, Salome. I'm not playing with you. I'm not playing with you. But yeah, she's a clown. She did too much. Yes. It was not on her side. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:40 All right. Thank you. Love it. What's up, brother? The donkey of the day is to whoever told Drake to put Tupac AI. That's right. Because now he got a lawsuit that's about to come his way. Alleged lawsuit.
Starting point is 00:51:53 See, he got a piece of the system. Alleged. Alleged. He took it down already. He took it down yesterday. But still, though, that was not a good idea. Then you had Snoop Dogg with the AI. Yeah, you should have just left it alone.
Starting point is 00:52:03 You know what I'm saying? Because you wait for Kendrick to respond, ain't he ain't gonna respond okay all right what's your name brother hey my name is colleague so my doctor today is for Neil baby mom to like she bringing it to the internet like I feel like oh these that go on like inside the house should just stay inside the house like I agree bring it any beefs and internet like with anybody's or your friends or anything. I just feel like it just causes
Starting point is 00:52:26 way more problems and destruction than it needs. Especially if you're going to make those kind of allegations against a man and then turn around and say those allegations weren't true. Yeah, it's like, come on. It's supposed to be allegations at this point. But yeah, that's my donkey of the day.
Starting point is 00:52:37 Yes, sir. Thank you. Hey. Morehouse man. What's up? Hello. I would like to give my donkey of the day to the president of Morehouse, David Thomas,
Starting point is 00:52:46 for extending an invitation to President Biden and passing up so many prominent black figures who were more deserving and also for not listening to his faculty and student body at Tuesday's town hall meeting when we urged him and pleaded with him to rescind the invitation. Are y'all going to protest President Biden when he comes? He said no. Don't walk away. Say your name. Miles Ross. He said it with his chest.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Miles Ross. He said it with his chest. He said it with his chest. Miles moved in. Damn, man. We just got Miles in trouble. Y'all got to watch Miles. Miles do everything with his
Starting point is 00:53:25 my donkey of the day goes to drake okay first of all i'm i'm not a big drake fan like i'm just gonna put that out there i don't like drake he gives off very much energy i don't like drake i love it i don't like drake and no i don't like drake specifically because my girl likes drake oh so i don't like drake for that reason oh but i'm gonna just i'm gonna go on the record and say real rappers really don't like a real rapper recognize real so he's over here taunting kendrick and waiting for him to respond but when he responds that he comes back and bites you back you're gonna be looking you're gonna fight back you're gonna come back like j cole did and apologize drink it up right now and i feel like drake i feel like, Drake is the type,
Starting point is 00:54:05 no listen, I feel like Drake is the type, he's not going to admit when he's wrong. And in this instance, he may be wrong because I don't think Kendrick really means
Starting point is 00:54:12 the stuff that he's saying. I think he's just trying to start like healthy battle rap. Gotcha. He's a real rapper. Well, tell us your name so Drake can slide in your girl's DMs.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Go ahead. Man, my name's Najeya and if you slide in my girl's DMs, we're going gonna have problems i already don't like you on site boy i tell you them toxic ass thugs i tell you uh-uh yes good morning um good morning my donkey of the day is going to drea um baby shower was cute but
Starting point is 00:54:39 you had no business trapping that little boy like that. God damn. Find somebody you're on the roof with. Damn. Jesus. These students are ruthless. Is this a double donkey? Is this a double donkey? Y'all about to tag team somebody? He look like he's on the team. What's y'all name?
Starting point is 00:54:55 Okay, what's up? My name is Essence. I'm from the Bronx. I'm Tama. Y'all look like y'all got a mixtape coming up. I'm Tamaer I'm from Brooklyn And we're giving Donkey today to A Boogie Because he thought that Ella wasn't gonna get her lick back
Starting point is 00:55:12 Yeah A Boogie A Boogie sorry A Boogie How you mad that Ella cheated on you but you cheated mad time Damn I think it's time for y'all to get back to class. That's the fans, though. We got time for one more.
Starting point is 00:55:29 We got one more. I'm sorry, one more. What's your name? Hi, my name is Ajene Raz. I'm a graduated senior here at the Lurches Clark Landing University. Peace, Ajene. My don't care today is going to Diddy, because I'm not sure if you turned my favorite rapper out,
Starting point is 00:55:41 which is Lil Baby. What the hell is that? That's it is Lil Baby. What is going on? That's it. No more. What the hell is going on? No more. Y'all can't just be saying stuff like that. Yeah, what happened to Lil Baby?
Starting point is 00:55:53 Y'all are playing with people. All right. That was dope. Y'all are playing with people. Oh, my goodness. When we come back. Nobody even said nothing about Lil Baby. Ain't nobody ever said nothing.
Starting point is 00:56:05 You just made your own media take out ass room up. Jesus Christ. You just pulled out your ass just now. Uh-uh. No diddy. There you start. When we come back, just fix my mess. If you have relationship issues or any type of issues, you can ask Jess.
Starting point is 00:56:22 We don't get in trouble for that. No, we are. We are. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Help me. Tell her. It's the real deal. Help me. Help me. Oh my God. I'm all up in your mess.
Starting point is 00:56:38 I'm going to fix it. Fix it. Fix my mess. Fix it. Fix it. Jess going to fix your mess because my advice is real. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club. We're broadcasting fix it just gonna fix your mess because my advice is real morning everybody is dj nv just hilarious charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club we're broadcasting from clark atlanta university 96.1 the beat and now it's time for just fix my mess now this is the segment where we ask if somebody's going through problems relationship issues where you can ask just for advice we got a young lady on the mic right now good morning morning. What's your name? Good morning. Greetings and what's popping beautiful people. It's your girl,
Starting point is 00:57:07 Jess Simone. That's Jess, I double M O N E. I'm a graduating senior here at the illustrious Clark Atlanta University, mass media arts major. And I'm speaking on behalf of the class of 24 right now. We have a huge issue and I feel like our commencement speaker right now at this very time, we just would like to hear some advice or suggestions on what we could do because now that the list for all the commencement speakers has been released, of course, we talked earlier about Morehouse having President Biden and then Spellman having Angela Bassett and then Kirk Franklin going over and being at Morris Brown. but yet we already have a professor that's already on payroll as our commencement speaker. And so I feel like here we are here with 96.1,
Starting point is 00:57:51 the beat, the breakfast club here at Clark Atlanta University. Why can't we now go and seek further and have that really improvement for our commencement speaker, especially for this being the class of 2020, who's already considered the forgotten class with COVID-19, the pandemic being virtual our whole entire freshman year. I feel like there should be more emphasis and more, you know, kind of enlightenment on what this class has gone through for a commencement speaker. Well, girl, I would say, okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:58:23 No, I would say, you know, there are power in numbers. You have power in numbers. So, organize, mobilize, and strategize. That's right. You know what I'm saying? It can't be just you. It can't just be one or two or three. It has to be all of y'all.
Starting point is 00:58:34 That's what you do. You figure out what the plan is, mobilize, strategize. Get them to hear you. Yeah, come together and push the school to bring y'all someone better. Y'all know y'all pick Clark Atlanta University, so y'all dollars do matter. Y'all should have a say in who speaks to y'all. And this is the first step, because I'm sure they're going to hear it this morning. So this is the first step.
Starting point is 00:58:51 That poor professor. That poor professor's like, why they don't want me, man? Why they don't want me? Okay, thank you, guys. Y'all, we need to get together. Y'all don't want to hear from him, because y'all hear from him all the time. Pretty much. I understand.
Starting point is 00:59:04 Well, thank you. I understand how she feel though thank you we're gonna try all right yes yes jay simone oh lord here you go again where your girlfriend at your girlfriend need to come get you she she back at home sleep she's supposed to be here but she like knocked out in the bed so my man so what's your question my mess so recently on april 3rd i enlisted in the army hey happy belated so i enlisted in the army and my girlfriend she's a military baby so and her main issue was like she felt a sense of abandonment when her parent because her both her parents were in the military and now i'm in the military and not only am i leaving i'm not going to be here for the fall semester and she's going to be here for the fall semester. And then I'm leaving again after that to go to Washington.
Starting point is 00:59:52 And it's like after I enlisted, we just started getting into like little petty arguments. And it was like I feel like she even told me she's trying to replace those feelings of abandonment with anger. And I'm like, well well you can talk to me you know and if I would have known that I probably wouldn't have did it but it's like now I'm kind of stuck at a rock and a hard place because it's like I try to you know I take her out we talk you know I work a lot so it's like when I'm not I try to make time for her I spend every waking moment with her but it's just like everything is everything you do is just not everything is not working we've been together for six months
Starting point is 01:00:25 I'm trying to get married You know Oh Okay marriage Alright Jess After six months Six months Six months
Starting point is 01:00:36 Six months Wait wait That came out wrong That came out wrong I want to get married Like marriage is a plan Because I'm at that point Where I'm not getting any older.
Starting point is 01:00:45 I'm 19. So, it's like we're not getting any younger. You're 19. I'm not getting no older. You're 19. I'm not getting any younger. I'm not getting any younger. So, I can't.
Starting point is 01:00:56 I'm not. I don't want to feel like I'm wasting my time. That's why I'm more so like I don't date just to have fun. I date to marry. So, it's like I'm working to get you to wife it don't matter go ahead jess listen y'all fix this jess okay so they have been these old men up here talking about you only 19 you didn't but you definitely sound like you know what you want you're very aware of love and what it is and and and i think since you know her problem where her
Starting point is 01:01:22 abandonment issues come from have you ever thought to tell her to seek therapy? Because she knows where it's at. No, I'm serious. Like, I mean, she needs to talk to somebody about that because it started childhood. And I feel like that's something like, because just talking to me, that's one thing. But if you get that professional help, you might open up more to them than you will to me. Yeah. Because it's like now it's
Starting point is 01:01:45 getting to the point where we're arguing fussing and fighting to the point where it's like do we really want this yeah it's like real all couples gonna argue but it's like these arguments are like you didn't call me you didn't text me why don't you wait why don't you answer the phone but but see it's abandonment it's still why don't you call me oh my god why don't you it's abandonment. It's still, why didn't you call me? Oh, my God. Why didn't you? It's panicking. It sounds very small to some ears, but it's actually a big issue because those are signs of, you know, people who have been abandoned. Where is she with her parents? Is it better? It's to the point, like, I can't really gauge that because her mom doesn't really like me.
Starting point is 01:02:21 Her mom don't like you? Her mama don't like me. She probably, right? really like me so my mom don't like you the mama don't like me she probably right she says she says she likes she says she doesn't have a problem with me but when i come whenever if every time i come around you like kind of like you don't want to talk to me or you don't want to talk to your daughter when i'm around you have a problem with me yeah does she have a problem with her daughter's sexuality or Or is it you? I don't know. Okay.
Starting point is 01:02:47 That's the thing. Okay. And I want, like, because like I said, I want to marry this girl. So it's like, I'm not finna just stop everything I got because you don't like me. Yeah. But I'm also not finna, you know, sit here and try to, you know, show that I'm a good person when that, like, doesn't matter to you. Well, I think because you have a bright future in what you're doing, you're going to go to the military. You're not going to be here and you are only 19. This is where your age does come into play. You are very young and you have so much more life to live.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Don't give so don't because it'll become a distraction if you give so much to the left. And you know what I'm saying? Like, I get it. Y'all can remain friends. Maybe she needs to do some self-healing for herself you know because you can't you can't be so distracted with trying to make sure you're there 100 24 7 right now she you just said she in the bed she wait for you to come back you know what i mean so like you you have to you have to choose yourself right now because you are 19 you got a future you just told me everything you're about to do you know and then remain friends with her come back maria you know i'm saying love something with her. Come back, Maria.
Starting point is 01:03:45 You know what I'm saying? Love something, let it go. Come back. That's how you know. Maybe her mother will be a little better in a couple years. It was crazy. I'm actually going to her hometown for deployment. Okay.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Yeah. Get out of here. All right. Just go and sit down somewhere. We'll take some more, y'all, when we come back. We'll be right back. It's the Breakfast Club with Live're live at Clark Atlanta University. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 01:04:11 It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We're in the middle of Jess Fix My Mess. We're live at Clark Atlanta University, 96.1 The Beat in Atlanta. Can you make some noise, y'all, so they know you're here? Hey, hey, hey, hey. And we have a young lady on the mic right now. What's your name?
Starting point is 01:04:27 Hi, my name is Jamese Jones. I'm a senior, and I'm currently the president of WST Radio. We're the only student-run radio station in the AUC. But the problem is that our streaming service has been down since August, and it's $600 to pay the bill, but our advisors are trying to figure that out. So I just needed some guidance and advice. How much is the bill? It's $600. $ 600 600 that's it all right so I got two just got two Charlotte got two damn hold it wait a minute We ain't had no meeting about that. I need to know why y'all not screaming I need more information so like even if we did you know something thank y'all this
Starting point is 01:05:35 is no no no no what more information is down it's through the mass media department so I don't know why the bill hasn't been paid. Our advisor has stated that. So yeah. Let me just be clear. You said $600. No, no, no. $600. $600. We got it.
Starting point is 01:05:56 We just wanted to know why. We just wanted to know. Okay, so you said you don't know. It's like so They didn't pay the bill i need to know that's the actual number first no no no that she's saying 600 i don't know i can pull it i can get paperwork everything send it to y'all invoice all of that like the station i feel like we have so many students that have a voice on campus, have things they want to say on campus. And I feel like as the only radio student org in the AUC, like, we really like that. Who was Fannabelle before?
Starting point is 01:06:30 Yeah, that's the point. That's what we're trying to see. We know it's the balance, but who was Fannabelle before? I don't know that. I don't know who was George. Somebody said George. And then they just said, okay. So listen, when you ask about this, what's her name?
Starting point is 01:06:46 What's her name again? I'm going to come back and I'm going to bring paperwork and all of that and figure out who that is. We'll take care of it. It's $600. We'll take care of it. It's $600. That's fine. If it's $600.
Starting point is 01:06:54 No, it's $600. We will take care of the $600. I got you. All right. Okay. Thank you. All right. And it better stay.
Starting point is 01:07:00 Look, and this time it better stay paid. It is. It is. It's going to stay paid. All right. It's going to stay paid. It's going to stay paid. Well, that is just fixing my mess. The breakfast stuff just fixed that mess.
Starting point is 01:07:09 Now, don't sound right. Don't be just agreeing to pay stuff and you don't know what to do. She said $600 to get back on. But I know you need to see some paperwork or something before you just be agreeing to stuff. No, I hope you don't need no paperwork or nothing. You don't need to see no paperwork. Well, don't pay. It's not over there.
Starting point is 01:07:22 When we come back, we're actually going to give students some money. Okay. Hey! Thank you. When we come back, we're actually going to give students some money. We're going to do that when we come back. That's what's going to happen. So don't move. I got you. It's The Breakfast Club. We're live at Clark Atlanta University.
Starting point is 01:07:39 The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Alaria, shalameen the guy we are the breakfast club we're broadcasting live from clark atlanta university that's right we did we did everything we said we was going to we broadcasted live we provided y'all breakfast and we promised y'all money yes okay that's breakfast club got our own stimulus checks that's right y'all got y'all raffle tickets okay so iall got y'all tickets? Starting point is 01:08:16 And our station down here Will be giving that away $96.1 the beat The $25 in the trunk right now So if somebody know how to hotwire The $25 is not in the trunk Listen And how much money Are we about to give away right now?
Starting point is 01:08:27 How much do you want to give away? We should give. Well. We should give. How much money we got? 5,000. 5,000? 5,000.
Starting point is 01:08:35 We should give five people a thousand dollars. Okay. All right. Give five people a rack. I'll pick one. Okay. Yes, you pick one. All right.
Starting point is 01:08:47 Now, don't say please God because you're going to be disappointed if he don't come through. All right. He ain't got nothing to do with this. So the first number is 404531. That's you? That's you? Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 01:09:05 Go to the mic. She said, thank you, Jesus. Thank you? Hey. Yes. Yes. Go to the mic. She said, thank you, Jesus. Thank you, God. Come to the mic. Go to the mic. Come to the mic. Come here. Come here.

I got stuff to do. I got stuff to do. I got stuff to do. We all got dues. It's the Breakfast Club. The mix is up next.
Starting point is 01:14:37 You're checking out the Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club. We're broadcasting live from Clark Atlanta University. Clark, what's up? What's happening? We got a special guest joining us this morning.
Starting point is 01:14:52 My man, Will Lucas. He's the host of the Black Tech Green Money podcast. He'll be on that stage tomorrow for the second annual Black Effect podcast festival. Will, what's happening, my brother? It's so good to be here in Atlanta. ACL, what's good? C-A-U- CAU, AUC. What kind of jewels will you be giving out on that stage tomorrow?
Starting point is 01:15:09 Hey, what I'm trying to do tomorrow is pull the jewels out of my interview podcast guest. So what we've been doing for the last week is going around on this road show with State Farm. Shout out to State Farm on this road show for financial literacy. We were at Winston-Salem State University last week. Today, CAU? CAU? are really talking about how we can leverage technology and just your finances to be able to get in a better position to create wealth for your generation.
Starting point is 01:15:33 You know, you can give any any of these college kids some advice, especially the ones who came up on a thousand dollars a little while ago. What should they be doing with that money? I mean, if I'm you, I'm really focused on what i want to get out of life and so i feel like if you are focused on a destination everything to the left and to the right gets minimized and the distractions get minimized so if you really know what you want it's a lot easier to not get distracted by the things that are pulling at your attention every day what percentage what percentage of the money would you uh recommend that people use for themselves like one lady one girl says she's going on vacation another one says she's about to see her man in the bronx there's a lot that they're about to do with this money so what percentage would you say they should use for themselves i mean i feel like you could put 10%
Starting point is 01:16:14 to the side put 10% into some sort of investment vehicle specifically for the money that y'all got y'all weren't expecting this money so it's really good to have an opportunity to do something fun i'll always believe if you had a budget together then that frees you up to be able to make decisions that don't get you into trouble later. So if you have an opportunity to put a little bit of that money to the side and if you've done that, then have some fun. I don't I don't want people to get so trapped into always being so strict about everything. But this is an extra opportunity to be able to do something for yourself and also invest into your future. So, you know, do 40 percent of this. this take 30 of this and just put it away but then have some fun with you know you're still in college you're young most of you guys probably don't have mortgages some of you
Starting point is 01:16:54 guys probably don't have children so you know you have a lifetime but set yourself up by putting something to the side get in the habit of doing that and that opportunity uh puts you in a better position going forward you know we hear these hear these stories about President Biden wiping away student student debt, student loan debt. Why is wiping away student loan debt so important? Oh, God. I mean, if you go talk about, you know, the years and years and decades and generations of our people who have not had an opportunity to go to college, have not had an opportunity to invest into their own education. I really feel like if you want to have that reparations conversation, that's an opportunity for black people to be able to get the education that so many of our forefathers and foremothers have not had an opportunity to do.
Starting point is 01:17:32 And so being able to get educated, that puts you ahead of so many other people. And then being able to walk away with no debt and being able to walk away in a better position that allows you to go and build a legacy for yourself and to build um you know those pathways that allow you to do it freely and so if you can go and get into the workforce go and start a business without so much baggage having coming out of college that allows us so much more freedom to be able to do things that impact generations to come and who you bring it out tomorrow you know at the at the black effect podcast festival to continue these conversations of financial literacy?
Starting point is 01:18:05 Yeah, tomorrow I'm talking to John Hope Bryant. Shout out to John Hope Bryant. He rich. Yeah, he rich. Damon John I'm talking to tomorrow. Denise Bennett I'm talking to tomorrow. Ashana. Ashana Ayers.
Starting point is 01:18:16 Yeah, Ashana Ayers I'm talking to tomorrow. And I'm also talking to Cliff Worley. We're going to be talking about AI tomorrow. I know you guys are probably having a lot of conversations. Hopefully you're not using chat GPT to do your essays. If you are, if you are, that's the world we live in. But tomorrow we're going to have some incredible conversations, not just about money, but
Starting point is 01:18:34 also about how you can use technology in order to compound that money that you're growing. So that's an important conversation to have. And that starts tomorrow. What time, Solomon? 11 a.m. And also make sure you check out will lucas's podcast black tech green money what y'all doing tomorrow y'all busy what's that oh okay okay okay well listen if y'all ain't doing nothing man you know we got
Starting point is 01:18:56 the second annual black effect podcast festival and if y'all want to go we got tickets for all of y'all tomorrow yeah yeah yeah all of y'all that's here huh all the ones that's here all the people that's here that's here yes for all of y'all that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All of y'all that's here. Huh? All the ones that's here. All the people that's here. That's here. Yes, for all of y'all that joined us this morning, you know, to watch the live broadcast and to have breakfast and all that good stuff, we got tickets for y'all. So somebody will take y'all names or something. No, I'm lying. We giving y'all, we giving the school the tickets and they gonna give them to y'all.
Starting point is 01:19:17 Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, shout out to State Farm. They're like, no, they're not going to get them. No, y'all gonna get the tickets. Yeah, we gonna make sure y'all going to get the tickets. Yeah, we're going to make sure y'all get tickets. Shout out to State Farm for investing into you guys to make sure that we have an opportunity to have these financial literacy conversations.
Starting point is 01:19:33 Without them, it is not possible to do this here today. Salute to State Farm. All right. We're going to make sure y'all get y'all tickets. Y'all don't got a good commencement speaker. We're going to give y'all tickets. We're going to give y'all tickets for tomorrow, okay? All right.
Starting point is 01:19:44 When we come back, We got the positive notice The Breakfast Club, good morning Good morning everybody It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious Charlamagne, the guy we are The Breakfast Club Charlamagne, it's time to get up out of here Again, we just want to say
Starting point is 01:19:54 We appreciate you guys for coming this morning Had a lot of fun with you guys Absolutely Give yourself a round of applause Really appreciated, Clark, man It really felt good to come out here and have conversations with real people. That's right. I think sometimes folks be having too many conversations on social media and y'all be arguing with bots.
Starting point is 01:20:13 And the bots be feeding y'all a lot of misinformation. It's good to see what people are actually thinking, especially, you know, the youth, because, you know, y'all are the future. That's right. Absolutely. Well, you got a positive note for the people. I do. And it's simple. You know, it's from Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. If you've never picked up any of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
Starting point is 01:20:27 stuff, you should, especially the book, The Power of Intention. But it's simple. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Have a great weekend. Breakfast club, bitches.
