Starting point is 00:00:00 Good morning, USA! brother I love you too King what's up I look handsome this morning no I feel like I look handsome this morning okay well somebody out there thinks you look cute some somebody does first of all I am not cute I am handsome whatever you call it I just want to tell you I love you brother I was born in 1978 I am a 44 year old grown man women refer to me as handsome not cute all. Alright, whatever. Gerbils are cute. Alright. I'm handsome, sir. This is fine, this is age-fine
Starting point is 00:00:52 cognac in the flesh. All I just wanted to tell you was I love you. That's all I wanted to say. I love you, brother. That was it. I love you, too. Alright. That's all I wanted. Look at you. Look at you stuttering now. No, no, no. The day started off crazy and I started to say something on the air. I'm like, you know, I'm not going to say nothing because it's nothing.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Just lock my keys in the car. That's all. You did? I don't understand how because it's the 2000 Escalade, but it's just like, how do you lock your keys? I thought the whole point is the keyless entry, right? Well, if the key is in the car, it's not supposed to lock. That's my point.
Starting point is 00:01:23 So how the hell did that happen? I don't know. I don't know either. Well, you can call them and they can use the is in the car, it's not supposed to lock. That's my point. So how the hell did that happen? I don't know. I don't know either. Well, you can call them and they can use the OnStar to unlock it. Who, call the dealership? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:01:30 you call OnStar. Did you activate your OnStar? No. Why would I have OnStar on a 2000 Escalade? Alpha, oh my goodness. I have no OnStar. Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Why would I have OnStar? I can't call AAA? Well, yeah, yeah, they can pop the lock. They can? Yeah, yeah, they'll get in that car. Even if it's an electric that? I can't call AAA? Yeah, yeah. They can pop the lock. They can? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:45 They'll get in that car. Even if it's an electric car? Or if you call Lil Sean. Lil Sean will be able to do it in two minutes. I don't know if Lil Sean's up right now, but Lil Sean, come over here and do it. One, two, three. I'll be all right. All right.
Starting point is 00:01:54 I thought you could do it from your... It's just weird. I thought the whole point of keyless entry... Yes. It's not allowed to leave the key in the trunk or in the car. It's not supposed to lock. My wife said the battery might be dead in the key. That could be a possibility.
Starting point is 00:02:07 That got to be. Did you try all the doors? All of them. And the back. Wow. I'm sure you tried the back first. Oh, shut up. Now, let me shout out to Tiana Taylor.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Tiana Taylor has this new sneaker that she released with Air Jordan. It's the Jordan 1s. And she sent us up a pair up here. She was supposed to send up three pairs. She was supposed to send one for you, one for me, and one in like a cute little display to leave up here. But she didn't send that version up. This is nice. Yeah, so shout out to Tiana Taylor for sending us a pair of Jordan 1s.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Thank you, TT. Nice presentation right here, Tiana. Yeah, really, really dope. Allow this rose to rest upon your shoe, but first you must preserve the petals inside your heart so it's true. Grant your confidence the will to harvest your most enchanted rose for the last rose that bloomed out of concrete is you
Starting point is 00:02:48 okay but after the shoes are called right the rose that grew from concrete yes and it's a collaboration with Jordan right yep go ahead Tiana so she shouts to Tiana Taylor
Starting point is 00:02:55 it's not an average box either it's like a looks like a pirate's treasure chest yes so salute to Tiana Taylor for dropping that off
Starting point is 00:03:03 thank you T.T. the girls the ladies from Run the World. Run the World is on Starz. Brisha Webb, Corbin Reed, and Amber Stephens-West will be joining us this morning. Drop a bomb for them. Season two starts next week, I believe. Yeah, season two starts next week. A lot to talk to them about, though, because over the past year, Brisha's gotten married.
Starting point is 00:03:22 And, you know, yeah, it's a lot to talk about. Yeah, so we'll be kicking it with them in a little bit. And Erica Dutchess will be joining us, too. She's just running a little behind. You spoke to her? Sim did, our producer. Oh, she's a little late. Yeah, she's running a little behind.
Starting point is 00:03:33 All right, well, let's get the show cracking. Front page news. Teslin Figaro will be joining us. A lot to talk about. Meghan Markle, paparazzi, we're running her down, they said, for two hours. Well, we'll give you the full story when we come back. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning morning everybody it's dj envy charlemagne the guy we are the breakfast club let's get in some front page news we have tesla figaro here good
Starting point is 00:03:53 morning tess good morning dj envy charlemagne the god yo how you feeling i am feeling well this morning all right well let's jump right into it. Sports last night. The Heat beat the Celtics 123-116. They lead the Celtics in that series 1-0. The Heat beat the Celtics last night? Yes, they did. Oh, I fell asleep. Damn. Yes, they did.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Go ahead, Miami. That is a very well-coached team. It is. Miami has a coach in Miami of basketball. Now, where are we starting, Taz? Let's start with this Prince Harry. A lot of folks have been talking about that online, how Prince Harry and his wife, Megan, were involved in a chaotic car chase with the paparazzi in New
Starting point is 00:04:30 York on Tuesday night that could have resulted in a catastrophic outcome. Now, the couple was pursued by photographers after leaving the Women of Vision Awards in a convoy. Now, a good thing is no one was hurt, but the couple was left shaken by the incident. Police say numerous photographers made the transport challenging, but there were no reports of collisions injuries or arrests now guys there's been a lot of back and forth about this story some folks said uh that it was not a uh you know as chaotic as they wanted to make it sound uh they said of course it was a high-speed chase and they're like no it was challenging it was not a chase but here is what new york city mayor eric adams had to say it would be horrific to lose an innocent bystander during a chase like this and something to have happened to them as well so i think we have to
Starting point is 00:05:16 be extremely responsible uh i thought that was a bit reckless and irresponsible i would find it hard to believe that there was a two-hour high-speed chase. That would be, I find it hard to believe, but we will find out the exact duration of it. But if it's 10 minutes, a 10-minute chase is extremely dangerous in New York City. I agree with the mayor. If you've ever been in New York City, traffic ain't no high speed, nothing. Okay, you might be getting chased, but it will not be at a high speed. Yeah, and it happened very close to here when we were leaving the building yesterday. There was nothing but cameras all over the place,
Starting point is 00:05:49 and I was trying to figure out what happened, and I guess, you know, she was leaving the ballroom, but they said that the paparazzi allegedly hit like six, seven cars over there, and they said it was a big thing. That's what we were told yesterday. They said they hit the cars? Yeah, we were told that yesterday.
Starting point is 00:06:03 We were told that the paparazzi was going around the block because I guess she was in a building over here. She was in that event over here or something? What is it? The Siegfried Ballroom over there? Something. They were like paparazzi was hitting cars trying to get a picture. Which is weird because in New York City you
Starting point is 00:06:19 really don't see wild paparazzi crazy like that chasing people because you see so many people. You don't really have that here but y'all losing your damn mind it was maybe marco yeah well they allegedly said it was no actual collision so i don't know if they meant hit like you know resulting in an injury or accident or what these were park cars park cars yeah these were park cars yeah the security told us that yesterday security literally told us yesterday mega marco was at the ballroom or whatever last night the paparazzi kept going around in circles just to get a picture of her and it was hitting park cars yeah i heard that before i even heard from the mayor okay well the mayor
Starting point is 00:06:52 said it was cap but um you know we know that his mother just to remind folks uh his mother princess diana died at the age of 36 in 1997 due to a paparazzi uh chase as well so i guess you know i'm sure that had his anxiety high and maybe you know they want to use this as an opportunity to remind people not to chase folks down but definitely high speed in new york sounds not happening it took me an hour to get out the city it took me an hour to get to the tunnel yesterday and i was five minutes from the tunnel yeah there was no traffic i I would have been literally five, maybe eight minutes away from the Holland Tunnel where I was at. It took me, no exaggeration,
Starting point is 00:07:29 35, 40 minutes to get out of the city. Alright, well that is front page news. Thank you, Tez. We'll see you in a little bit. Absolutely. Everybody else, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. Phone lines are wide open. Let us know how you're feeling. If you had a good morning, bad morning, a great night
Starting point is 00:07:45 last night, a horrible, whatever it may be. Something's on your mind. 800-585-1051. Call us up right now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Ray, Ray, Ray! Yo, Charlamagne. Lizzy, what up? Are we live? This is your time to get it
Starting point is 00:08:04 off your chest. I got an indoor pool, an outdoor pool. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. We can get on the phone right now. He'll tell you what it is. Baby, we live? Hello, who's this? It's TY. What up with it, y'all?
Starting point is 00:08:16 What's up, brother? Get it off your chest. Peace, King, peace. Hey, first thing, I want to thank you about looking out for Tamika Mallory and all that. That was gang. But the thing I want to talk about right now, did y'all see the Instagram with Birdman and J Prince and NBA Youngboy? I did see that.
Starting point is 00:08:32 I see that picture. We're going to talk about it in the rumors. Okay, get to it. You did. Yeah, we did. Right on, y'all. Y'all have a good morning. But what you got to say about the pictures?
Starting point is 00:08:39 The negative comments, man. Ain't nobody, you know, we black, man. Let's be positive for a little while. What's negative about the comments? I mean, what could they possibly say negative about young boy Prince and Birdman? Prince and Birdman. They immediately went back to the thing. He was trying to start them with his car keys and all of that.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Man, I don't know if I care about that no more, man. They together now. That means a lot of good things don't happen. Well, when we come back during the rumors, I'll tell you what J Prince had to say about their conversation and their meeting. So, just keep it locked and we'll give you all those details. Hello, who's this? It's Walter. Walter,
Starting point is 00:09:17 what up? Get it off your chest. Get my chest off. I'm thankful that my girls are speaking on first child. Hey, congratulations, brother. Congratulations, King. Thank you. Long time listener. First time calling. When she do?
Starting point is 00:09:30 January 26th, like a couple days before my birthday. Okay, January, baby. All right. Well, congrats, baby. Enjoy it, too, man, because when a woman is pregnant, man, you can really enjoy it. Make sure she's happy. Make sure you be the perfect man. You get her anything she needs.
Starting point is 00:09:44 If she wants chocolate, you get anything she needs if she if she wants chocolate you get a chocolate she wants strawberries ice cream slushies from 7-eleven if she wants a particular type of food you make sure she enjoys that pregnancy and not to mention pregnancy not to mention pregnancy sex is amazing it is oh my goodness i know right i already had before yeah we don't discuss that enough as men, but not only is it amazing, it's actually good for the baby. Well, not the baby. It's good for the cervix. The cervix.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yes, the cervix. It's good for a mother to be able to release out. Something. Yeah, it's good for the husbands and fathers, too, because it feels so damn good. That's amazing. All right, brother, have a good one. All right, thank you, too.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Hello, who's this? Hey, it's B-Mom from the Metro. What's up? 803. Nah, man. What's poppin'? Get it off your chest, bro. I got two things to address. What is wrong with the media hitting parked cars? Jesus Christ. Well, they busy trying to get
Starting point is 00:10:39 their shots because those pictures translate into money. So that's what that's about. Yeah, but I mean, you just can't be hitting people's cars like that i agree rock nation is out here talking about people it's like spreading this information and stuff like that with that little letter that they wrote with the casino in time square and to me it's like i just about to be the first gaming license so if you're gonna do it right like you need to be done right i feel like they trying to do too much with that casino. And to me, they honestly sound like politicians making empty campaign promises.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I totally disagree with you. I don't feel that way with Roc Nation. And I'll tell you this. Everybody knows I'm a whole lover. But when it comes to all the things that Jay-Z has done, he's shown and proved. Whether it was the Rockefeller Records, whether it was the Rockefeller clothing line, whether it was Tidal, whether it was D'Ussé, whether it's Ace of Spades, whether it's uh the rockefeller clothing line whether it was title whether it was duse whether it's ace of spades whether it's his uh cannabis line like he shows and proves and not only does he show and prove he gives back to his community and i think anybody that gets a opportunity to
Starting point is 00:11:35 get that casino is not going to give back to the community and hove has done it numerous times envy is absolutely right and there's nobody better to have a casino and we know that that money is going to go into communities that need it than Roc Nation. I agree. There's nobody better. The people that they're going to employ, you know what I mean, where they're going to put the money, they're already talking about putting hundreds of millions of dollars in Broadway
Starting point is 00:11:57 for black Broadway plays. No. They need to get that gaming license in New York. Absolutely. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up New York. Absolutely. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:12:10 The Breakfast Club. It's a new day. This is your time to get it off your chest. Wake up. Whether you're mad or blessed. It's time to get up and get something. Call up now. 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:12:25 We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Good morning. This is Regina Hayes. Hey, Regina. Get it off your chest, mama. So I was calling. First of all, good morning, DJ Envy and Charmaine Agad.
Starting point is 00:12:38 I've been trying to get through for so long. I'm shocked that I got through today. Oh, good morning, mama. What's up? I was calling today to see the envy. I sent you a message on Instagram and you never got back to me. What did the message say? It said that, you know, I introduced myself and I was like, I'm definitely a big fan.
Starting point is 00:12:56 And I was trying to help my husband because he's been going through some stuff mentally and emotionally this year. And he is a tire mechanic that joined the service and can't do what he loves anymore. And we were trying to see if he would be able to come to your car show at the end of the month. Which one? The one in Memphis or the one in Houston? In Memphis. Absolutely positively.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Yes, you stay on the line. I'll get you tickets. Is this just for you and him or you got kids? Just the two of us. Our kids are pretty small. They can't handle that business right now. How old You got kids? Just the two of us. Our kids are pretty small. They can't handle that business right now. How old are the kids? I have a one-year-old, and we have a seven-year-old. Yes,
Starting point is 00:13:32 you can bring your kids. That's what the car show is about. We have jumpies and rides and activities for kids. We teach the kids how to double-dutch. We do face painting. I got a 17-month-old, so my 17-month-old will be there. My 7-year-old, my 8-year got a 17 month old so my 17 month to be there my seven year old my eight year old my nine my 19 my 21 we bring the whole family but yeah absolutely well i'll give you tickets for everybody if you want to bring them come along and have a good

All right. Thank you so much. Y'all have a blessed day. Hold on, all right? And I know this sounds random, but we was talking about sex during pregnancy. Sex during pregnancy is good for both you and the baby.
Starting point is 00:14:13 It can help you sleep better, lower your blood pressure, and make you happier. Okay. Yes. Just want to throw that out there. And it feels great. It does feel amazing. Hello, who's this? This is Josh from Michigan, from Conway, South Carolina. Hey, Josh. Conway. Get it feels great. It does feel amazing. Hello, who's this? This is Josh from Michigan from
Starting point is 00:14:25 Conway, South Carolina. Hey, Josh. Conway. Get it off your chest. My first thought was, thank you guys. I was working a job, and what got me to the job after I got out of college was you guys. And then I also started doing therapy.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Thanks for charming the guys. That was probably one of the hardest things I did as a young black man. One of the best things that I did. I'm only 25 years old. So it was really needed. Before I went to college, my mom passed away. And we played with my older brother's pass play. So it was hard to try to deal with that.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Man, I love to hear that. But I'm glad you went to therapy, brother. But I'm glad you went to therapy to deal with your grief. I love to hear that. Well, I just do. It's a big thank you your grief. I love to hear that. Well, I just do. It's a big thing for you guys. I've listened. Also, while I worked that job, I listened to your audio book.
Starting point is 00:15:11 And every day it was tough to get that job. But legit, The Breakfast Club is like what got me through that. That's what it is, brother. Which book did you listen to? I listened to Black Privilege. Oh, Black Privilege. Word. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Thank you. And I also, I know you're a comic book fan, and I'm a huge comic book fan. I'm also writing my own comic book, and I was wondering, can I just kind of shout that out? Because currently I have a Kickstarter going on. I don't know if y'all know what Kickstarter is. Of course. Shout out. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:15:40 So I have a Kickstarter. You can go to Kickstarter, and it's called No Retreat, No Surrender Issues 1 and 2. I have about 20 days to raise the rest of the funds. I have about 50% of the funds already. So I just really need help to get the other 50%. How much is it? It's $2,500. Right now I have about $1,191.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Okay. So about 50%. I'm going to make a donation to it, man. I'm going to make a donation to it. I'm going to throw a little change on there, brother. You know, I got a line of comic book and graphic novels coming out, too. You know, they announced it last year. Oh, I didn't know about that, man.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Yeah, I wish they hadn't announced it so early, but they're coming really soon. Hold on, all right, so we can get all your information. Alright, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, you can hit us up. And again, shout out to that young lady, Regina. She was talking about the car show, my car show, which is on the 28th of this month. And we're doing it with
Starting point is 00:16:37 the Dolph family and his record label, Paper Route. So, I just want to tell everybody, get your tickets if you haven't got your tickets. Also, if you want to put your car or bike in the show, we'd love to see what you have. And that's DJMVCarshow at gmail.com. And we want to see everything, whether you got Ferraris, we're going to have Bugattis, we're going to have Vets, we're going to have Old School's, Camaros. And whatever you got that you put your time into, you know, like I always say,
Starting point is 00:17:01 my first car was a 1986 Honda Accord, and I put everything into that car. I put 18-inch rims in it at the time. I put a bazooka. I had TVs in that thing. It was my baby. I worked hard for that. So, we want to see those type of vehicles as well. So, get your tickets if you haven't got your tickets now. When we come back, we got your rumor report. A gentleman earlier called talking about a picture he
Starting point is 00:17:19 seen online of Birdman, J Prince, and NBA Youngboy. I don't see how anybody can hate on that. We'll tell you about what J Prince has to say after that meeting. So don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody.
Starting point is 00:17:33 It's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Our guest host, Erica Duchess, is here. You're a little late this morning. You all right? Yeah, I'm good. You look tired, ED. Hey, man.
Starting point is 00:17:45 I don't like calling a woman E.D. I don't want to call you E.D. That ain't right. I'm in New York. I'm trying to get all the experience. What do you mean? You went out last night. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Oh, went to a club or something? I went, I don't know where I was, but it was fun. You know where you are now. And it was in an alley. You said you was in an alley? Like people, like it was fun. I don't know, jungle. I don't know. You were just in an alley in New York you was in an alley? Like people, like it was fun. I don't know, jungle. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:18:06 You were just in an alley in New York City? She said a jungle. It's like a party alley. Like a party in an alley. Was you smoking crack, Erica? No, I don't know. That sounds like you were
Starting point is 00:18:16 in Brooklyn or Queens. You wasn't in the city. Yeah, uh-uh. Uh-uh, we just ride. I don't know. I had fun. Well, don't go that way. That way is the Bronx. You don't want to go that way. That's the way We just ride. I don't know. I had fun. Well, don't go that way. That way is the Bronx.
Starting point is 00:18:25 You don't want to go that way. I went that. That's the way I was down. I was that way. And they was fun people. And they love me. You had a good time. I had a good time.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Okay. All right. Well, let's drink some water. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk NBA Youngboy. Rumor has it. Rumor has it. Call out a name or you gossiping or you chatty patty.
Starting point is 00:18:43 I'm gossiping. This is the rumor report. I mean, I guess we on the breakfast club. This is where the tea spills, right? Yes. On the breakfast club. Now, during Get It Off Your Chest, a gentleman called talking about a picture that he seen yesterday posted on social media.
Starting point is 00:18:55 It was a picture of Birdman, J Prince, and NBA Youngboy. All right. Now, the reason that picture's posted is because NBA Youngboy has been taking stabs at Drake and stabs at J Prince. Do we have the audio of his rapping of some of the stab that picture's posted is because NBA Youngboy has been taking stabs at Drake, stabs at J Prince. Do we have the audio of his rapping of some of the stabs he's done? Oh, I heard about that. He said he couldn't do a song with NBA Youngboy because of his relationship with Dirk. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Yes. All right, right, right. So they did have a meeting and a conversation. J Prince posted yesterday. As you can all see, I had a good time kicking it with the homies in Utah. On behalf of the little homie NBA Youngboy, me and my brother Birdman were able to have a real conversation face-to-face. We talked about the past, the present, and the future. But most importantly, we left each other with a mutual respect moving forward even though i wasn't
Starting point is 00:19:49 there for a meeting with burman i must say the lord works in mysterious ways with that being said i must address the song where my name and drake's name were mentioned to the little homie as i said to you privately i say to you publicly that drake is my son he rolls with me therefore i think it's a good idea to take him off your enemy list. Because the truth of the matter is that we got nothing but love for Dirk and your accomplishments. When I put Drake on that FaceTime call with you, my intent was for y'all to move forward, not backwards. Two things we get every day is a chance and a choice. The choices we make determine our destination.
Starting point is 00:20:22 First of all, you're reading too fast. If you are reading any words from J Prince, you got to slow those down. That's number one. But what's the problem with what he said? I like to see brothers. I mean, I think it's great differences to decide. Great that they have a conversation. And I think I think a lot of things would be handled a lot differently if we're able to have a conversation, especially face to face.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Absolutely. Because I hate the social media. Sometimes somebody can put something in capital words and be like, why are you yelling at me? I did it by accident. Especially J Prince and Bird, man, you love to see two bosses connect. They don't have no reason to have no issues with each other. You know, he was basically he was found guilty of I want to make sure I want to get the right what he was found guilty for.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Let me look. Let me look. Look. I don't know if it was actually murder, but being a part of accessory to murder. for a reduced sentence. In February, Allen took the witness stand and threw his co-defendant, Dedrick Williams, Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsom under the bus. Allen was originally sentenced by Broward Circuit Judge Michael Usain to seven years in state prison,
Starting point is 00:21:33 but due to serving five years throughout the duration, it looks like he only has two years, and with good behavior, he might be out in a couple of months. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Yeah, because he did five. I was looking at that yesterday. I was like, damn, it's been five years? It's been five years. Damn, time really going by. Yes, it do. Yeah, because he did five. I was looking at that yesterday. I was like, damn, it's been five years? It's been five years. Damn, time really going by. Yes, it do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:49 So because he got on the stand, I would say allegedly because people are suing these days, but because he allegedly, well, he did get on the stand. Because he got on the stand, instead of having to serve the whole 20 years, he got seven. And with five years, it looks like, like I said, he'll just do a couple of months. How do you know somebody like that won't play a role in somebody else's uh murder in the future how do we know this for sure they don't mean we don't know they don't know on my bad i was just saying and it seemed like when that happened they end up back in a situation like that yeah it's been always it's seven years and you know what i mean he's cooperating not because he wants to do the right thing it's
Starting point is 00:22:22 because he's trying to save his own ass. But I don't even understand why they needed the cooperation because they had it all on video. Remember, it was on video. The whole thing was on video. So they didn't need the cooperation. They should have all got the full time, the maximum time. They didn't need cooperation. It wasn't like, well, maybe he did it, maybe he wasn't. No, it was on video.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Yeah, I would think so. Them following him in, them following him out, like the whole thing. Yeah, I just don't know how they can be for sure that this guy won't play the role in a murder in the future. And then how does the mom, how does mom get closure? The young boy that killed her son or was part of killing her son gets out? He's out right now? He'll be out in a couple of months? Everybody else got life, though.
Starting point is 00:22:58 I think the trigger man and everybody else got life. Does it matter? No, it doesn't. Shouldn't they all be in the same situation? I think if you play the role in somebody else's murder, yeah, I think you should all be in the same situation. But what do I know? Alright, now also, Rick Ross, he's back in the
Starting point is 00:23:11 news. He wants to run for mayor of Fayetteville, Georgia. I'm tired of you and your shots at Ross, bro. I know. Like, come on. I'm just reporting the stories. I'm just reporting the rumors. I didn't even say anything about it. Let me see what his goal is. I didn't see anything about his car show being denied from the Fayetteville pay. I didn't say anything about that. You just said the rumors i didn't even say anything about let me see what his goal i didn't see anything about his car show uh being denied from the favor i didn't say anything about that i didn't say anything about that i didn't say anything about that i didn't say anything
Starting point is 00:23:33 about that i'm just talking about the mayor he wants to run for mayor of fayetteville i love fayetteville so much next year i'm running for running for mayor. That's right. The boss, Rick Ross, running for mayor of Fayetteville. What I want to ask is some young students that's in legal school, I want to ask y'all a few questions about politics. I want to know how many votes did it actually take to vote in the mayor of Fayetteville? I need to know that because we're going to become that. We're going to make that happen. We're going to have a good time. We're going to give some people opportunities. We're going to give some people opportunities. We're going to give some people raises.
Starting point is 00:24:08 And, of course, we're going to have to clean some people out. I don't think it's going to be good because there's so many old people that stay in Fayetteville. And white folk, they ain't going. They ain't voting for Ross. They ain't going to vote for Ross. And Erica knows because you live in Fayetteville, right? Well, I stay down the street from Fayetteville, George. And I'm from Atlanta, so I know. Are you going to vote for Ross. And Erica knows because she lives in Fayetteville. Well, I stay down the street from Fayetteville, George. And I'm from Atlanta, so
Starting point is 00:24:26 I know. Are you going to vote for Ross if he's running for mayor? I can't vote for him. I don't stay in that county. Yeah, so. Alright, well, we wish Ross the best of luck with running for mayor at Fayetteville. He's going to be something of the old people out there with their little hands up.
Starting point is 00:24:41 With them posters. Yeah, but I didn't even mention the fact that they revoked his car show permit to do the car show. It was not even on the report. Because he said I was throwing shots. I didn't even say it. But you said it.
Starting point is 00:24:57 And lastly, quickly, I just want to tell you Montana became the first state to officially ban TikTok. Governor Greg Gianforte signed a bill restricting downloads of the popular social media app. What was the reason? I'm not mad at it, but what was the reason?
Starting point is 00:25:14 They just said... They didn't say. They said Montana's personal private data from the Chinese Communist Party. They don't want the Chinese community or the Chinese Communist Party to have people's information. So they have banned TikTok in Montana.
Starting point is 00:25:29 They know something we don't know. Yeah, they do. Alright, well that is your rumor report. Now when we come back Teslin Figaro will be joining us for Front Page News, so don't move. And the ladies, the women from Run The World, the cast of Run The World will be joining us.

Starting point is 00:26:04 Hey, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We got our guest co-host, Erica Dutchess, here. Yes. And let's get in some front-page news. Good morning, Taz. Good morning, beautiful Erica and Charlamagne and DJ Envy.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Good morning. Taz. Let's start off with sports. Now, the Heat last night beat the Celtics 123-116. They lead the series 1-0. And let's get right into the news. Charlamagne was in the news. Now, the Heat last night beat the Celtics 123-116. They lead the series 1-0. Now, let's get right into the news. Charlemagne was in the news. He was on Fox last night?
Starting point is 00:26:30 Yes. Once again, they have covered our very own Charlemagne, the God. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody responded to comments about Ron DeSantis being a white supremacist made by Charlemagne. And she responded to it on Fox News. Here's what she had to say. And we will talk about it on the other side. I just want to very quickly, because you had Charlemagne, the radio host, blasting your governor, Ron DeSantis, for banning public funding of DEI in Florida's public colleges, saying the following. It's obvious that Ron
Starting point is 00:27:00 DeSantis is a white supremacist, right? It's amazing to me that a person like that would be running for president. When I think about it, it's like, damn, he's not even interested in bringing the country together. Your final take on that, about 30 seconds. Look, Ron DeSantis served this country. He believes in equal opportunity for everyone, equal application of the law. That's what he wants taught. That's what he wants educated here in the state of Florida. And to say otherwise is untrue. Did I say something wrong, Tess? I think you were quite accurate. I mean, we can start with the fact that he promoted a fundraiser for Daniel Penny, the man that murdered Jordan Neely. He actually tweeted out, let's show the
Starting point is 00:27:42 Marine that America had his back. So there's a long list of things that he has done that has pretty much, I don't want to say confirmed or at least alleged. Or he looks like a white supremacist, talks like a white supremacist. So he might indeed be a white supremacist. So we can go down the list. I mean, he banned AP courses on African-American studies, signed a bill in the law banning the state's public colleges and universities from spending money on diversity, equity and inclusion. You know, strategic redistricting that wiped out at least four majority black districts. Like, come on, man. Come on. That's right. Fighting Disney for no reason. Fighting the teachers, making them cover up books that he doesn't like. Again, banning the diversity programs. again the florida naacp has literally
Starting point is 00:28:26 asked black people not to come to florida so and and one of the most extreme people people will say that trump is extreme and even trump has said that he is too extreme when it comes to matter of abortion so when trump is telling you you're too extreme you're probably too extreme word absolutely now where you want to go next you want to go to the strippers or rudy giuliani uh let's go to rudy giuliani let's let's talk about that uh he demanded oral sex while on the phone with trump a 43 year old noel trump for that's what that just sounded like that's how like he just has trump i know you know but damn je-year-old Noelle Dunphy is suing for $10 million in damages and unpaid wages, claiming that the former New York mayor, Rudy Giuliani, subjected her to wide-ranging sexual assault and harassment, including making her perform oral sex while he was on the phone with Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Now, she claims that she has recordings of numerous interactions, meaning that she has some receipts. And she said that Giuliani told her that he enjoyed engaging in this conduct while on the phone because it made him feel like Bill Clinton. Now, in a statement, Mr. Giuliani said that he completely denies the allegations and plans to defend himself and that this is pure harassment and an attempt at extortion. I wonder how many times uh you know republicans and even democrats for that matter refer to bill clinton when they get in fellatio like is that like slang is that like slang amongst politicians probably would know can i can i get some of that bill let me get some of that bill do me like bill at bc well i don't know i know he better be careful because it sounds like she got some receipts so
Starting point is 00:30:07 we're gonna see if uh if she if she puts it out there all right well that is your front page news and make sure you uh subscribe to tesla figaro's podcast the straight shot no chaser podcast on the black effect iheart radio podcast network that's right and when we come back we're gonna be kicking it with the ladies from one the world. I appreciate Corbin Reed and Amber Stevens West. We're going to talk to them next. So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Charlamagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. We got our guest co-host Erica Dutch is with us this morning and we got some special guests joining us this morning. Bresha Webb, Corbin Reed and Amber Stevens-West. Welcome! Thank you for having us. Run the World season two, May 26th on Starz. So for people that haven't seen Run the World,
Starting point is 00:30:55 what is Run the World? Run the World is a fun show about three women living their lives in Harlem. Our friendship binds us together. We're running our careers. We're running our love lives. We're black women doing it. And it's just a fun show about just women living. Friendship and success and love and... And we look fabulous. And it's a comedy. And we look fabulous.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Yes, yes, yes. Thank you. How did y'all get teamed up together for this show? We were cast. They brought us in. Our talent brought us together. Our talent and our good looks. I did not know these two.
Starting point is 00:31:31 These two knew each other. However, I met them at the chemistry read, and it was like at the test, and it was like instant. I mean, like the casting director, Kim Coleman, had to be like, you guys, can you please keep it down? Like other people are reading. We were like, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:43 We're good. Yeah, we did. It was instant friendship. it's a, it's an instant friendship. Instant friendship, yeah. Chemistry is definitely real. Fabricia and I met probably 15 years ago. We've known each other a long, long time. A lot of friends in common in LA. And we love to sing all the time.
Starting point is 00:31:57 Yeah, and so when this show came around, we heard that both of us were being considered for the parts, I texted her and I was like, if you do it, I'll do it. Same. Because it was a big deal for us because we live in the parts. I texted her and I was like, if you do it, I'll do it. Same. Because it was a big deal for us. Because we live in Los Angeles and to move out here to New York, it was like a big deal.
Starting point is 00:32:10 So how was that? How did you have to get up on your New York slang? Well, I'm from Baltimore, so the New York slang ain't really that hard. Yes, it is, because y'all know you go to you and do and do. I mean, I had to put that in the trash a long time ago. I bring it back when I get angry. But seriously, I mean, our characters are all from different places. We, like, our friendship started at Spelman.
Starting point is 00:32:32 And, you know, so we're about being women from different places, coming together in Harlem and working and growing in Harlem. So our slang didn't have to be so much about. Like, my character's from the South. Yeah. And, I mean, I don't have a Southern accent on the show. I'm assuming that y'all taped the season 2 before the writers cracked. Yeah. We finished it a year ago.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Sorry fans. Sorry people that watched season 1. It's taken a while, but we're coming back. It'll be worth the wait. How do you feel like the characters grew in season 2? A lot. A lot. The first season was really establishing who these characters were
Starting point is 00:33:07 and what their friendship was with each other, but the end of the season left us all, like there's a lot of cliffhangers at the end of season one. And so season two is really just about them kind of more learning more about themselves and like leaning on each other even more. They're all in,
Starting point is 00:33:20 they're very successful in their lives, but they're still growing as human beings. And so they're like a place in their lives, like a fork in the road. Yeah. All learning how to be selfish for the first time. You know, we've been working towards our careers and our relationships and love and taking care of our families. We forget about who we are and what we actually want. So that's what I love about the show is for black women or just women in general, just to be reminded about how powerful they are and what
Starting point is 00:33:46 we have to say no to and what we have to say yes to. And our show's really cool too because I feel like you see women in their 20s figuring it out. That's a very glamorized thing on TV shows. But our show is about women in their 30s still figuring it out and I don't feel like that's a topic that gets explored as much.
Starting point is 00:34:02 And I think it's good that we're normalizing that and celebrating that and also making it feel aspirational and exciting. And it's not like, okay, you're in your 30s. You have to be married. You have to have kids. You have to have all these things, these established things.
Starting point is 00:34:15 It's like, you know what? We might make a huge career shift in our 30s. We might be confused about whether or not this fiance or this serious partner is someone that we really want to be with. Or if we want to have kids. Or if we even want to have kids. I think it's like a very modern day take on what it is to be a woman
Starting point is 00:34:32 and an ambitious woman. I'm sorry, do either one of y'all have kids? I have two kids. She got the kids. She got all the kids. I have two little girls. Little girls? I would have never thought you had some kids. Oh, my God. Because I look so young.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Thank you. I'm a bonus mom now. I got married. Yeah, I see. Congratulations. I got married. Congratulations. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:56 Oh, good luck with that. What's up with that? I mean, I tried. I did it. I did it. You got married? Yeah, I've been married for six months. Oh, really? Yeah, I got divorced on Zoom.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Oh, wow. Okay. Interesting. I'd like to know more about that. That sounds like a TV show in and of itself. It began and ended all in the same. Yeah, I did. I do. I did and done. Period. Amber hit her with the most graceful look throughout this conversation. Amber said, oh, I'd like to hear more about that.
Starting point is 00:35:23 I don't want to hear more about that, but I do want to know more about how you did get divorced on zoom yeah yeah because we were during the pandemic interesting okay and so you could just do it on the phone just like this with the judge and a little block wow i said judge all i want is my bed it's the bed that we just bought because he had me on blow up bed for six months do you know what you were getting yourself into before not really He tricked me. He was like a pastor child. So he was like, I'm not going to
Starting point is 00:35:48 stay with you. Like I said, this sounds like a TV show. Really? Literally, I have a TV show coming with something around my life.
Starting point is 00:35:57 So you're kind of smart. I was going to ask now, y'all both recently got married. Was there pressure to get married? Because you talk about sometimes the pressure of getting married and having kids.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Was there pressure from the family to get married? I mean, my family is Jamaican. My grandma was like, you know, like 93. She's like, I'm going to die soon. Please get married so I can be there. She said that? Oh, yeah. She said to my husband.
Starting point is 00:36:20 At the time, fiance, like. To your boyfriend you met on the first date. She has no shame. Like, you know, that's very, very Caribbean thing. Um,
Starting point is 00:36:29 I, me, I, I've kind of been manifesting getting married for so long. Charlamagne. Yes, you have. I would talk about how I couldn't find a man.
Starting point is 00:36:39 And I really said, if God don't do it, it won't get done. Cause this really, it was really scarce in the street. Where'd you find him? Where'd you find him? Where'd you find him? Where'd you find him? Well, I didn't find him. You know, said if god don't do it it won't get done because it's really it was really scarce in these streets we met over um facetime when i'm during the pandemic i was working and I went in the quarantine for a week or two, came out with a boyfriend and
Starting point is 00:37:09 a year later engaged. One year later. Did you take it serious at first because it was over FaceTime? I mean, yeah. I mean, I had been praying about it. It wasn't like, oh, we meeting on FaceTime, you gonna be my husband or something like that.
Starting point is 00:37:24 I wasn't thirsty like that. I't know but i don't know but you know he was just he was just a great guy and it's hard not to love nick jones i got a bunch of home girls who was about to give up until it happened for brisha really yes and they use Brisha as their example all the time. I'm not even joking. Thank you. That's a good thing. Thank you. God is good. I mean, listen,
Starting point is 00:37:49 keep hopeful lives and don't lower your standards. Do not lower your standards. What she said. What was your standards, though? Just bring something. I mean, like, anything that starts with um.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Would you date a bus driver? Listen, if. That if. I love what you put on your page. We not going to be in the if world. We not going to be in the if. No, no. We just going to be in the right now.
Starting point is 00:38:14 What's on the table is, you know what? I just wanted a man that brought something to me. Because I know what I bring. And I honor what I have done. And I want him to honor what he's done. And bring it so we can be evenly yoked that's right all right we got more with the cast from run the world when we come back brisha webb corbin reed and amber stevens west so don't move it's the breakfast club good morning
Starting point is 00:38:33 everybody it's dj envy charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club our guest co-host erica duchess is here and we're still kicking it with the ladies from run the world brisha webb corbin reed and amber stevens west charlamagne is it hard to play characters who are married or you know who may not and we're still kicking it with the ladies from Run The World. Brisha Webb, Corbin Reed, and Amber Stevens-West. Charlamagne? Is it hard to play characters who are married or who may not have kids when you are married and have kids? I actually had a challenge with my character because she's playing a fake step-parent,
Starting point is 00:38:57 but she is stepping in with an older man that she's with and he's also her thesis advisor because she's getting her PhD. And she's taking on this parenting role you know with his daughter and she loves it and it does also ends up being a situation where she feels taken for granted and I'd have never had that experience but I did have a lot of women you know say to me like I relate to this so much and men too like I relate to this dichotomy I relate to being put in this position where like in season two um tika sumter her real mom comes back into the picture and i you know i hear people saying like we watched the season and like this is a role that i've i'm in right now having to like tread this line between my new partner and you know my child's mother and
Starting point is 00:39:40 you know i understand like the challenges that presents And it was nice to hear the feedback that they identified with it because as an actor or as a human being, I have never had that experience, but it's nice to know that I'm able to portray it in a way that feels relatable. So that's been interesting. What about you, Emma?
Starting point is 00:39:57 You got two of them things. Well, my character on the show is in the pilot, spoiler alert, if you haven't seen the show, cheats on her fiance. And she is very unsure about what she wants for her future because she's a very type A personality who's been doing everything the right way and checking every box in her life. And she's finally going to get married to like, you know, on paper, he's the perfect man. And he's got a wonderful family, a big Nigerian family, and they're planning this big epic wedding. And it's very overwhelming for her so she ends up sleeping with someone because she's just never acted out in any way never had experiences never had any experiences and just felt like uh stifled
Starting point is 00:40:34 in some way and so that's the way she acted out so she's uh is just struggling with that and i've don't identify with that part because i've been married for so long i've been married for eight years and we've been together way longer than that. Did you get the wild out before you got married? That's why you don't have a boyfriend. I did some dating. You know, I'm a very monogamous personality. I just like, you know, boo up real fast.
Starting point is 00:40:56 But I met my husband when I was 22. So we've been together for so long. But it was interesting to just play a character who was just so nervous about taking that next big step. And think a lot of people relate to that they feel like they need to hit like check that box by the time they turn 30 so that they can like you know say that they won or whatever and this character is very much like i got everything that i wanted in my life and i'm still unsure if that's what i really want so i like i like that what about you agree it's hard to be a single woman now? Play a single woman?
Starting point is 00:41:26 Listen, I can relate. OK. But, you know, my character, she was married and, you know, she had a great relationship with her husband. And she dropped him and was going through the divorce and everything. And, you know, he didn't he stole her money pretty much. And that was first season. And so now she's, you know, out here single doing her thing and i can relate to that but i also in this second season i love that she's realizing that the heart really wants what it wants and she misses that piece of her life so i can understand that
Starting point is 00:41:56 too because there is a longing for love and for stability when you're trying to find your footing in a new place because she has a new career path. She quits her job. She leaves her husband. She's doing a whole bunch of stuff. So she's really trying to reclaim who she is. And, you know, remember, like, there's people around her that love her and that she has to go and get them and show them and clean up herself a little bit, like to take accountability. And I totally can. You know, I know what that means now being married. But, you know, like just being married and just understanding the commitment and the love that it takes to know even when you're going through a season, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:42:35 You can get through it. Go back to something Amber said about her character, Whitney, because I think this is important, too. Your character needed more experience, you know, before they got married. Is that something that women actually go through yeah I think men go through that too you want to experience as much life as you can so that you look back with no regrets and you feel like
Starting point is 00:42:53 you've made the right choice in your life especially if you're going to commit to somebody for the rest of your life because you're choosing to spend everything with them and like we were saying you want to be on the same team with them and you're going to have to compromise so you want to make sure you're going to do that with someone that you respect we call it for men and women we call it the whole phase yeah I miss mine
Starting point is 00:43:09 you ain't miss yours yes I did I really did I hate I missed it I missed it now season two you guys gained some new characters on the show some new castmates yes and you lost some new castmates so talk to people about who's not coming back and who's coming to the new season it used to be four of y'all right right? It used to be four of us,
Starting point is 00:43:26 you know. Ella. Where's Ella? Where's Ella? Okay, let's get y'all to Ella. Ella, you know, she had to, you know,
Starting point is 00:43:31 everybody has a decision, you know, and they have to protect themselves. So much respect to her and what she decided to do. Her real name's Andrea, right? Andrea. Andrea.
Starting point is 00:43:41 Yes. And, you know, she did the right thing for her. You know, we moved along. I went and got my bag. We all did that. Mm. Yes. And, you know, she did the right thing for her. You know, we moved along. I went and got my bag. We all did that. And we came back with season two. And she still shows up.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Her presence is ever so present. Yeah, her character is still a part of the show. And she's referenced a lot. And she comes and saves the day sometimes. She's still definitely a friend. But the character is addressed as to where they go. And I think it's handled really great. And actually very real.
Starting point is 00:44:07 You know, like friends move away. They live in other places. So there was no internal beef. It wasn't because y'all were beefing behind the scenes. Absolutely not. No, no, no, no. We love and support Andrea, and we wish her the absolute best.
Starting point is 00:44:17 And who are the new castmates? Who's, because it says new people. No, there is, it's just us. Nobody moved to the show, okay. It's just us, you know? We're the three leads of the show, and then we have just more. Great guest stars. Great did though. And then we have just more.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Great guest stars. Free summer. Free summer is part of the show. Who else do we have this season? You have some wonderful people in your funeral. Aisha. Your funeral? See you all upstate now.
Starting point is 00:44:37 Corbin, you over here. Can you edit that out? Funeral? Listen, now I will say this. I do not speak about this. There is a funeral. There's a funeral. It's not your funeral. No, no, about this. There is a funeral. There's a funeral. It's not your funeral.
Starting point is 00:44:46 No, no, no. It's not her funeral. Y'all killing her off. It's crazy. What am I doing here? Thank you and the off. No, there's a funeral. There's a lot of things that happened this season. There's a wedding and a funeral.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Yes, there's a wedding and a funeral. Yes, so we got through it. And I love shows that highlight therapy. And I know you go to therapy, Brie. So how important is therapy with these three ladies, journeys? It's important because one thing that... It's a big part of the show. It's a big part.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Because I love that Cree Summer, first of all, is our therapist this season. Shout out to Rosie O'Donnell. I mean, Rosie O'Donnell did a phenomenal job last season as well. But I love in our therapy episode is that she brings she makes us answer our own questions, you know. And so usually a therapist is telling you what to do and makes you ponder it. She asks the questions and then we come up with it and we're going, oh, she says, so you know what you want to do. It's in you already. And I think that's the the craft of a really great therapist. Yeah. Someone who empowers you to make choices for yourself. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Well, I will be honest right now. I lost my father while I was filming this season. At the same time while I was filming a funeral scene, all this kind of stuff. Yeah, so therapy was such an important process for me to even show up to work, for me to even do anything, you know? And I'm so appreciative of that time and of this cast. But therapy really is not just a luxury. It's something that we need to be able to express
Starting point is 00:46:12 ourselves because we express them. You know, we can use that energy and good or bad. You know, you could use that energy if you're going through a loss or grief or a heartache or any anything like that, just because you can't pay your bills like that's one thing but like all of those things are still an emotion that you need to be able to get out and express so don't like i used to be in that mindset like oh if you rich you can get therapy there's other avenues where you can still talk to somebody and get that energy out because if you don't it just lives in your body and you get sick. How do you deal with those cocktail of emotions, Brie? Because, you know, you're celebrating the high of being married.
Starting point is 00:46:48 You're celebrating the high, I'm sure, of doing season two. But then you're celebrating, not celebrating, but then the low happens and your father passes. A lot of prayer. A lot of soul searching and walking in my truth. And being grateful that I get to walk in my truth and do what I love show up to work be around people that love to laugh laughing really helped and know that I'm living out my father's dream you know I was grateful to be in New York I'm from Baltimore so I was able to catch a train back and forth every weekend in between and I know that that was all
Starting point is 00:47:23 God for me to be here and for me to be on this show so I just look at the gratitude in between and i know that that was all god for me to be here and for me to be on this show so i just look at the gratitude in that and just rejoice in that and um anybody that's listening to this and watching if you're going through it i totally get it and losing a parent it's it's life-changing all right well don't move we got more with the cast of run the world so don't move it's the breakfast club good cast of Run The World. So don't move, it's The Breakfast Club, good morning. Morning everybody, it's DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club, our guest co-host Erica Duchess is here. And we're still kicking it with the ladies from Run The World. Brisha Webb, Corbin Reed, and Amber Stephens-West.
Starting point is 00:47:55 Charlamagne? I want to ask you Corbin, like you know, your character makes a lot of sacrifices on her wants and needs as a woman. Yeah. Like, do you have to do that in real life in order to find a partner that you spend the rest of your life with i am very blessed to have a partner who supports me like blindly like he is like my biggest fan that's why a big part of the reason why i married him like this industry is so demanding you know we gotta travel we got crazy hours you know you're kissing and hugging on other people you have to have somebody who
Starting point is 00:48:26 is supportive and it is hard to find and i feel really blessed that i have somebody who just literally is like whatever you need to do i like i got you and i i understand and whatever like he's there for me 100 so i'm very grateful that in my personal life i don't have to deal with that but i do appreciate that on the show you know I had the opportunity within the writing and within my character's journey to show like what that can look like to have to come to terms with that and set those boundaries and then act on them I think black women in particular end up a lot of times in that caretaker role and it can be easy to just go along to get along and just like this is the role i have to play and almost take this martyr position in a
Starting point is 00:49:09 way and um it's hard to say like this is what i need and this is what i want and i'm going to act on it and a lot of times you know you can get called selfish and it's a negative thing but i think the way that my character is written is she makes a move, a selfish move in her own interests. And it looks sexy, like it looks good. And I hope that women watching they're encouraged to make those moves, because a lot of times when you're selfish, it's a loving move for even the people that are affected by it. Because if you're not happy, the people around you aren't going to be happy. And inevitably, that's going to, you know, turn into resentment resentment or that's going to turn into you being not fully flourishing. And that affects the people you love negatively.
Starting point is 00:49:49 That's exactly what my character deals with the whole season. Exactly. I actually act on it, whereas you're kind of like grappling with it. Well, she's realizing that that's why she cheated in the first place is because she wasn't acting on her true ambition. She was filling all these roles because she felt like that was the right thing to do in order to be successful.
Starting point is 00:50:10 And then she's terrified when she's actually confronted with, oh, I've actually hit all these marks and I'm not as happy as I thought I would be. And she's realizing that she wasn't being her authentic self in her relationship. So she wasn't getting out of the relationship what she wanted because she wasn't getting out of the relationship what she wanted
Starting point is 00:50:25 because she wasn't telling what she needed. And instead of taking the action like Sandi does in a way that has merit, you know, the way that you can look back on the relationship lovingly and not have to walk away from it with like your tail between your legs or feeling some sort of guilt. It's like you kind of like, you know, I think it's a nice dichotomy. It's like I take the action, you don't. And then you see what the outcome can be.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Do the brave thing or do the thing that's a little bit easier and then the aftermath is messier. Absolutely. That's why you need girlfriends to lean on because you don't have to cry about it. What's great is that you have the friendship on our show. There's no judgment for making any of those decisions. It's like we just support each other and we understand each other.
Starting point is 00:51:04 We give each other space to grieve and feel sad and embarrassed, but also lift each other back up. I love that. How do the husbands feel about the on-screen romances that y'all be having? Listen. My husband's an actor. He gets it. He knows what it's about. Honestly,
Starting point is 00:51:20 and most of my stuff is always with Tosin, who's like the most gentlemanly, kind, warm, easygoing, very respectful, and most of my stuff is always with Tosin and who's like the most gentlemanly kind warm easygoing very respectful but we also have intimacy coordinator
Starting point is 00:51:29 person that comes to the show so it feels very choreographed anything that we have to do even if it's just like a kiss on the cheek they're like are you comfortable with that
Starting point is 00:51:37 like let's talk about it which cheek you know how much are they going to touch other parts of your body how you know that's a job title that is a job title.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Intimacy coordinator. So it actually takes away the awkwardness. I think it is. It's a newer job in the industry and it's essential. Once we had that person, I was like, wow, I feel so much safer. Especially with all that old stuff that used to go on with them couples and they start suing the person. Yeah, I mean, well, there's limits to that. People take advantage in those situations.
Starting point is 00:52:05 They really do. They really do. And it's nice to have someone else to hold that person accountable and say, you said, literally on paper, they will write, you are allowed to touch, graze her thigh. Like, literally, that's specific.
Starting point is 00:52:18 So if anyone goes outside the boundaries that have been discussed, you can take it to them and you can figure it out and say that that was not appropriate. You gotta have the right person in that job. You can't get't get like a former porn director or something they don't realize that you know intimacy scenes are not like as intimate and you know very choreographed you know we sweat and you be in weird positions for the light yeah and the camera is not sexy you like did you you have a mint like
Starting point is 00:52:47 it's crazy it's not romantic do y'all see the comments where you know because they compare harlem to to your show do y'all see those comments what are your thoughts on it listen why why can't we have to you know shows about black women in harlem living in first life why do we do it all the time you need it why shows white people living in los Angeles, New York. Especially like these times, I'm looking at y'all and I'm looking at y'all like y'all chemistry and all that and how y'all getting along like women especially us black women and how y'all support one another just off the screen too just how y'all that love and that support and I just love it you know. It's genuine. We need that as women because we so catty it's so much competition. But that's what's out there you know it's genuine we need that as women because we so catty it's so much competition
Starting point is 00:53:26 but that's what's out there you know that's what i'm saying that's why it shows like ours and harlem is needed yeah because there's so much stuff in media that they perpetuate this the stereotype of black women i feel like you have to be competitive realize the power of storytelling like how you absorb that and how that affects your people's real behavior in their real lives. Like a show like ours encourages you to get
Starting point is 00:53:49 those good girlfriends and find those people who lift you up. You know, it can have like a real impact and hopefully it encourages networks to like make more shows like that.
Starting point is 00:53:57 I was just about to say that because we need that because growing up we had like the Cosby show and... Yeah. We had Becky Louser as our executive producer.
Starting point is 00:54:05 You know, Living Single. Yeah, Living Single. All of those amazing shows about black women. Yeah. How we was in power. How, you know, we had business. We were rich and had families and did all that stuff. Instead of the other way.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Absolutely. I love this. Absolutely. You can check it out. Two more questions. Is it true that uh amber was a message message your wedding club oh my god what a mess in terms of she was crying the whole time oh i was a mess at her wedding oh yeah i said next to sob whatever that me and my husband
Starting point is 00:54:36 were both very emotional um you know oh we you had a maya angelou poem yeah everyone in the crowd read together i couldn't even i couldn't even speak it out loud while we were doing it. I was very moved by the whole moment. I just loved the power of everyone's voices together, lifting us up and reaffirming our love. I thought that was really beautiful. But I looked out into the audience
Starting point is 00:54:58 and Amber was just like, her eyes were red. Every time I looked over her... I was in front of you during dinner and you did a speech and you were like, I think I need to stop because Amber is like losing her mind. It was so funny.
Starting point is 00:55:09 It was amazing. I loved it. It was so sweet. I love a wedding. So sweet. I love a wedding. It's my favorite thing. I love love.
Starting point is 00:55:15 I love love so much. I love love. Yeah. Like God is love. Yeah. So when people are like, oh, forget love. Loyalty over love.
Starting point is 00:55:24 Look, God is love. So there ain't nothing above that. That's why I had to have a choir. Okay. yeah so so I want people I forget love loyalty over the little goddess love so don't ain't nothing above that that's why I had to have a choir okay Kelly Roman was one of your bridesmaids every yes that's my sister we work together on Merry Little Christmas I mean oh yeah we've done three of them we're about to do a fourth one you know after you work with somebody, like, the love is genuine. Your spirit. You have that spirit. Oh, bless you.
Starting point is 00:55:48 Thank you. You're like a cousin. Exactly. If I see you in a while, I'll be like, that's my cousin. You know, Bresha Duvall's super cool.
Starting point is 00:55:55 I know. I always talk about Bresha. Like, Bresha, I'm your sister, too. I love you, Duvall. Bye. I'm so proud of him. I'm so happy for him.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Me, too. So happy he's back May 26th on Starz That's right Appreciate you Appreciate you We have Corbin Reed Amber Stevens West
Starting point is 00:56:10 Thank you guys Thank you so much Always a pleasure Dope Morning everybody It's DJ Envy Charlamagne Tha God We are The Breakfast Club
Starting point is 00:56:18 Our guest co-host Erica Duchess is here And let's get to the rumors Erica You in the rumors Rumor has it Rumor Rumor has it. Rumor has it.
Starting point is 00:56:29 Call out a name or you gossiping or you chatty patty. I am gossiping. This is the rumor report. I mean, I guess we on the breakfast club. This is where the tea spills, right? Yes. On the breakfast club. Now, yesterday, the good brother, Pastor Jamal Bryant, reached out to us yesterday after you said that during his eulogy, he bombed.
Starting point is 00:56:43 Salute to Pastor Jamal Bryant. Yes. He posted yesterday on his social media. He posted the clip and said, early this morning, I was headed to speak at, I believe it was Morehouse, when my brother, Breakfast Club AM, I guess that's Charlemagne, called me, alerted me that an unknown comedian was coming for me on air over a eulogy that went over her head.
Starting point is 00:57:02 It didn't go as planned. Plus, I'm from Baltimoretimore just hilarious should i have the job anyway i'm gonna be honest with you erica i ain't hit pastor jamal bomb yet he ain't bombed none of the times he's shot here wait ain't you close friend with duval that's my partner you see i got the rich broke chain i see you yes call duval ask him i seen you perform erica huh i seen you oh you talk about oh oh pastor jamal yeah yeah i got you got you got you yeah you know i ain't did that but i'm just saying yeah it's okay he had a bad set but i get it where he was trying to where he was trying where he was trying to go once he explained
Starting point is 00:57:36 it yesterday yes indeed we we see that now but it didn't it still didn't make no sense because you still could have used a million other men in the world besides Donald Trump. Oh yeah, I'm just talking about the shots he was taking here. Yeah. That's you. He ain't bomb yet.
Starting point is 00:57:51 That's what I'm saying. Yesterday when he called in and that Instagram post. Yeah, that's the energy we needed at the funeral. That's the energy we needed. We needed him to have all them shots like that.
Starting point is 00:58:02 You know what I'm saying? We wanted that stick. We wanted it to end. We needed something to land. Nothing to land that. But we wanted it to end. We needed something to land. Nothing to land. Well, salute to Pastor Jamal. I really do hope Pastor Jamal don't ever come to know Erica Dutch or so. Because I feel like Erica is going to have something for him.
Starting point is 00:58:14 30 minutes. 30 minutes. You already know I am. But Pastor Jamal Bryant, he bought that life. He bought that life. He had a life before he started preaching and stuff like that. He a little gangster. I like it, though.
Starting point is 00:58:28 But I didn't know he posted that on his page by the unknown comedian. I bet you won't forget me now. You will never forget Erica Dutchess. Or somebody said I bomb? Anytime you hear bomb, you're going to think about Erica Dutchess. Jesus. Now, also, Yo Gotti. Yesterday, we told you what
Starting point is 00:58:45 was going on with 4-2 doug and he said that uh he was having problems in jail he felt like they were trying to kill him he had to heat his food with hot water from the shower i read the whole statement that he he put up a day ago but yesterday last you know yesterday evening i should say he said they raided my ish last night man at 3 a. a.m. They taking me to war. I need Johnny Cochran, little cousin, or something. It's on and popping in this itch. Well, your guy posted yesterday, I got $2 million for any lawyer that can get dug out early. Thanks. That's what I want for my birthday to free for two Doug.
Starting point is 00:59:18 So if I didn't know he was talking about the rabbit, that's then it sounds crazy. What? I got $2 million for anybody who can get dug out early. That sounds wild. No, it doesn't. We know he's talking about the rapper. That sentence sounds crazy. What? You got $2 million for anybody who can get dug out early? That sounds wild. No, it doesn't. We know he talked about 42 times. I mean, yes, I know in context that they're talking about 42 times. But I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:59:33 That sentence sounds crazy. Can a lawyer do that? Can you just give a lawyer $2 million and they go get him out early? Well, I mean, they got to fight the case. They got to fight the case. Now, Rich the Kid, he apologizes to tori bricks after cheating allegations uh rich the kid is apologizing to his fiancee and child's mother uh and says that he's sorry he says that uh he's trying to do better he was also accused of failing
Starting point is 00:59:56 to pay a woman 35 000 to keep her pregnancy a secret from his fiancee tori bricks as well once the woman found out she was pregnant she says she and Rich created a signed agreement that she would terminate the pregnancy and keep to their sexual encounters a secret from Tori, allegedly. So Rich the Kid's apologizing. You know, he's saying he's sorry. He's a grown-ass man.
Starting point is 01:00:18 He's trying to evolve. He's trying to grow, and he wished that didn't happen. Well, we've all been there, Rich the Kid. That's all you can do. You know, give a public apology, but the best apology is change behavior. That's all I can tell you, young man.
Starting point is 01:00:30 Absolutely. All right, and lastly, Swiss Beats and Timbaland say that they own 100% of Versus. It was reported a couple of months ago that Trilla actually purchased a big majority of Versus, but Swiss and Timbaland are saying that's not true. They're saying Versus is 100% black hold okay you see 50% on top of your screen and 50% of
Starting point is 01:00:51 their body on your screen Tim and Swiss that's who own verses in case you ain't know Zai Zai Zai this is word to Allah okay Tim don't like me talking like this I go too crazy I say the real thing, Tim want to play. He's like, man, I see the names. The name is Tim and Swiss. I'm going to go like, how about this? It was built for the people. And it's going to stay with them. So they're supposed to be announcing some new verses coming up shortly.
Starting point is 01:01:17 And they said it's going to be a lot of big names. So I'm looking forward for that. I love Swiss and Tim, but I'm tired of them announcing that we about to get new verses. And we don't have the new verses yet. I need some new verses. Oh, yeah. Okay, y'all. There's too many great verses that we keep hearing about, right?
Starting point is 01:01:31 We keep hearing about potentially Wayne and 50 or JD and Aditi, all of these people. I want to see them. Little Kim, Nicki Minaj. Yes. Who and Nicki Minaj? Little Kim. Oh, ooh. Man.
Starting point is 01:01:45 Wow. I saw Sw. Man. Wow. I saw Swizz on Jennifer Hudson. He was saying Jennifer Hudson versus Fantasia. Stop announcing that we about to get new verses and announce some new verses. I'm with you. I'm with you. And that is your rumor report. Now, who you giving that donkey to?
Starting point is 01:01:57 Man, four after the hour, there's a school in Missouri called Glendale High School, and this is a perfect example of why two wrongs can make a right. We'll discuss. All right, we'll get to that next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same.
Starting point is 01:02:12 With audio titles on business, career advice, fitness, and more, Audible keeps you inspired. Whatever you're looking for, check out all the audio books, podcasts, and originals you could ever want all in one place.
Starting point is 01:02:22 Sign up for 30 days free at audible.com slash breakfast club. It's time for Donkey of the Day. Donkeys of the Day at Charlemagne. I'm a Democrat, so being Donkey of the Day is a little bit of a mixed place. So like a donkey. Keyhawk. Donkey of the Day.
Starting point is 01:02:40 The Breakfast Club, bitches. Now I've been called a lot in my 23 years, but donkey of the day is a new one. Yes, donkey of the day for Thursday, May 18th goes to Glendale High School in Missouri. And an unnamed teacher at Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri. See, there is a 15-year-old young Caucasian girl named Mary Walton who goes to Glendale High School. Drop on the clues bombs from Mary Walton. She was in geometry class minding her business when her teacher tried to put together a geometric sequence that simply
Starting point is 01:03:09 doesn't add up. See there's this word that no matter how many times you tell people they shouldn't use it they will find a way. Doesn't matter what race the person is. We all know the historical context of the word. We know why the word shouldn't be used by anyone. I don't care if you think it's a term of endearment or a racial slur it's a word that is divisive and it's just too much blood and
Starting point is 01:03:29 baggage on it for it to ever be positive but yet we can't keep it out of our mouths all right the word i'm referring to is the n-word all right i wanted to say it so bad but i'm trying not to i've been trying not to for years okay by the way i really haven't found a better way to describe these ninjas than the n-word matter of fact i want to apologize to all ninjas out there why do we do that to them okay why is ninjas a default for the n-word we love ninjas but back to the n-word this young 15 year old caucasian girl mary walton was suspended because she recorded her teacher repeatedly saying the n-word yes i told you they was in geometry class and mary's teacher presented a problem she didn't have an answer for and guess what the reason i'm not saying the teacher's name is because they didn't release it i didn't give us the teacher's name they released the young
Starting point is 01:04:14 miner's name but not the teacher why i don't know but we do have audio this is the teacher presenting this problem to his geometry class let's listen i don't like the word at all but it i don't know it feels like when when a black person is using it towards another black person it's the same how is it not still a derogatory word i don't know i don't get it i mean i can't slave leaders just get pulled in that so it's just like and there's no word not allowed okay let's say right now as a teacher if you want to keep your job this isn't the first time i'm not calling anyone i understand i can say the word it's not no i wish we didn't bleep the word i mean in that context i feel like we
Starting point is 01:05:01 should use it for research purposes but i agree with the teacher that when a black person uses it towards another black person, it's still a derogatory word. I don't use the word in that context, like how YG used it on my N-word or how Snoop and C-Murdy used it on Down For My N-Words. Now, sadly, I use it the way the white man intended it to be used. OK, but this teacher is foolish. OK, if he's smart enough to say he doesn't like the word at all then why is he using it at all okay if you can acknowledge mr. teacher that you don't like the word and the word seems derogatory no matter how you use it or who uses it then why are you using it and more importantly you heard the student a student okay one of those youngsters and that's why these youngsters give me hope for the future
Starting point is 01:05:40 one of those students said to him don't say it if you want to keep your job if a student tells you that and then you still continue to use the word and then future one of those students said to him don't say it if you want to keep your job if a student tells you that and then you still continue to use the word and then even you know after other students said uh don't say it your response is you can say it well who gave you permission to say it and how did you come to that conclusion after acknowledging that you don't like the word this is beyond confusing okay but what's even more confusing is the fact that glendale high school suspended the 15 year old girl for recording what you just heard i can't make this up let's go to cnn for the report please video shared on social media shows a high school teacher using the n-word at least
Starting point is 01:06:16 twice in a missouri classroom mary walton a 15 year old student disturbed began filming the teacher was initially placed on administrative leave. A week later, that teacher has resigned. But Mary was also punished, suspended for three days over the recording. The school district says its discipline is, quote, confidential per federal law, but noted that the student handbook limits inappropriate use of electronics and considers the identification of minor students when disseminating video. The school district also prohibits, quote, recording of faculty or staff in the classroom without prior approval and recording, quote, acts of violence.
Starting point is 01:07:01 Hull claims that the policy is problematic and it has a chilling effect on students like Mary looking to hold authority figures accountable. Oh, this just in the Daily Mail report reports the teacher's name is Kenneth Bowling. Oh, we got a name, Kenneth Bowling. He's the teacher's name. Look, we're the first ones to tell kids if you see something, say something. But I guess in this case, if you see something, say something, unless that something is racism. And I understand there's rules and regulations, but you do know you're punishing this little girl for doing the right thing. So let's just say the school has a no recording policy.
Starting point is 01:07:34 What if this teacher was, you know, God forbid, assaulting another student or, you know, whether it's sexually or verbally, is someone not supposed to record that you're definitely deterring kids from keeping track of teachers uh misbehavior by suspending young mary because the next time a student sees or hears a teacher doing something wrong they're gonna mind their damn business because they don't want to get in trouble this is like that law in arizona that bans people from recording police a lot of people in arizona protested against that because it violates their first amendment rights and it keeps them from holding police accountable not that police really care that they're on camera but you understand my point look there is plenty of times when a person recording should be held accountable for example okay if somebody set up the tripod and hit record for r kelly absolutely makes perfect sense to discipline them for their recordings but when a
Starting point is 01:08:17 child is being verbally abused by their teacher with racist words it doesn't matter what the school policy is on filming that young lady should be treated as a hero and celebrated. OK, I don't care what the student handbook says. I get that it says students are prohibited from using cell phones to make audio or visual visual recordings. The faculty are staff. But what school is going to give a child permission to record a teacher saying the N word? None. OK, so this is a perfect example of look. Sometimes two wrongs do make
Starting point is 01:08:45 a right according to the laws of culture the teacher was wrong for using the n-word and according to the laws of the student handbook the student was wrong for recording him but this student was also right because dumb ass people gotta be held accountable and if that teacher thought he had a pass to use the n-word he now know he doesn't in fact one could argue mary saved that teacher's life kenneth bowling because if kenneth bowling would have used the word the n-word around the wrong n-words it'd have been bad for him please let remi ma give glendale high school and that unnamed teacher the biggest hee-haw hee-haw, hee-haw. You stupid mother f***er. You dumb.
Starting point is 01:09:28 You just said the teacher's name. Kenneth Bolin. Yeah, you said the unnamed teacher. Oh, I'm sorry. Kenneth Bolin. I'm proud of you. Yes. I know, man, because it's very hard to say the N-word back to back to back. Yeah, now I'm very proud of you. It don't roll. You just be wanting to say he, you know. Yeah. Now I'm very proud of you. You didn't say the N-word
Starting point is 01:09:44 one time during that whole. Do it. Just say it. Just say it. Nope. Nope. I'm very proud of you. You didn't say the N-word one time during that whole... Do it. Just say it. I won't. I'm not practicing bad habits. No, niggas. I'm not saying it. I'm sorry. You see what you did? BET, we'll see you guys tomorrow. You see what you did? BET, we'll see you guys tomorrow. You see what you made me do?
Starting point is 01:09:59 You see what you made me do? See y'all later. Everybody else, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Now, the ladies of Run the World were here earlier this morning, and we were talking about whole faces. I feel like this conversation comes up every couple of years. So often, right? Starting point is 01:11:33 Me. I just think I miss it. I miss the good years. Ho ain't nothing but a number. And I hate I missed it, though. And I think you really do need it. You know how they say about men, he need to sow his royal oats.
Starting point is 01:11:48 See, women got to do the same thing. I think so. In my situation, I was with somebody my first love from age 15 to age 23. So I was just with that one person all them years. Then right after him, I had a three months or four month break
Starting point is 01:12:06 i with my little girl dad i with him some eight years so i missed it but see if you get with another man my concern would be damn hearing you constantly say you missed it because when somebody says they constantly miss something if there's an opportunity to go do that they might take it yeah i mean hey i you might be right but i'm saying you might be right about that because i opportunity to go do that. They might take it. Yeah, I mean, hey, you might be right. You know what I'm saying? You might be right about that because I do be thinking about like, dang, but now it's like
Starting point is 01:12:31 times don't change now. Now I be kind of scared. I don't want to be like a little whore now because, you know, there's so much going on out here in the world. So I'm kind of, you know,
Starting point is 01:12:40 I'm good now. You scared of monkey pox? Yeah, I'm scared of all this. You're scared of everything. I'm scared of everything, so I'm kind of good. That's why when I was messing with the little young guy, you know what I'm saying, he was like 20 and I was just in love with him because I had missed so much being young.
Starting point is 01:12:57 Then when I got with somebody that was young, that young was fun. Like going to the club, he was fighting over me and stuff. I was like, ooh, he just fought that man over me. Like it was just so much fun. But see, so what happens when you continue to grow in the comedy game like you are and you get to meet people that you might have always wanted to meet or people that you might have used to fantasize over, but now you get the opportunity to, you know, take them down.
Starting point is 01:13:18 Yeah, but when you in the industry and you behind the scenes, you know what's going on, they not that appealing no more. What about you, Charlamagne? I think everybody should live their life. Because like Amber's character on Run the World, you know, you don't want someone to get in a relationship and feel like they're missing out on something. And then they end up going to do that something. So I feel like, yeah, we all should live a little bit before we find that one person. We want to hold it for the rest of our life.
Starting point is 01:13:45 You know, all those tricks you done learned from being out there in these streets, popping that poom-poom and sharing that magic stick. You can share those for the rest of your life with one person. So, yes, I thoroughly believe everybody should live a little bit, whether you call it a hoe phase, whatever you call it. Yeah, I disagree. And I'm going to tell you why I disagree. I disagree because it's like while you're having that hoe phase,
Starting point is 01:14:02 you could be passing up that person that is your soulmate. You could be passing up your husband. You could be passing up that good person because you're, quote unquote, in a whole phase because you want to experience that person that you could be looking for that you passed on. That could be the person for you. And let me ask you a question. What's for you will never pass you. And what God has for you will never pass you by. I don't care if it's Pum Puma, Magic Stick.
Starting point is 01:14:24 You keep thinking that you missed that man because you want to be in a whole phase. And that man was the perfect man for you will never pass you by. I don't care if it's Pum Pum or Magic Stick. You keep thinking that. You missed that man because you want to be in the whole phase and that man was the perfect man for you and now he found somebody else or y'all miss each other. Let me ask you a question, good brother. You have four daughters. What do you tell your four daughters right now? They say, hey dad, I want to date. Do you say, well, go enjoy your whole phase? I don't have to have that conversation
Starting point is 01:14:40 with them. Their mama will. And what's that conversation going to be? I don't know what her and her mama going to be talking about. My kids don't have to talk to me about sex. So when your daughter comes in and says, Daddy, I heard you on the radio talking about whole phase.
Starting point is 01:14:50 What's your thoughts on it? I'm going to say, look, I think you should live. Live your life. You know what I mean? By the way, they're going to do it regardless. Right.
Starting point is 01:14:58 But if they ask me, I ain't going to say go live your life. No. I'm going to tell them go live their life. It is different. It is different, though, because i have a daughter and
Starting point is 01:15:06 i have two sons but with my boys i tell because they're so young i tell them to live their life live their life because they you know i mean what about your daughter with my daughter i tell her your reputation is everything it is but here's the thing i think there's such a negative connotation around the word ho ho don't mean that you out here sleeping with seven and eight and nine and ten guys me oh just mean that you live in a little bit like you're not you're not a you're not you're not a a virgin if you want to remain a virgin until marriage i'm fine with that too is hoeing that's that's not true then use another word if you if somebody calls you a hoe that means you are usually a promiscuous person that has sex with numerous people yeah that's a hoe that's and i think that's a negative connotation so don't use the word hoe use another word i think we should that's what i said just live your life a little bit you know like like
Starting point is 01:15:51 like like my girl laurie harvey i don't think i don't think she's um whoring around i just think she's experienced in life we don't even know what laurie doing just because just because you see somebody with a man or you see somebody i'm just saying just saying Just for the stuff you see on the media But I don't think there's nothing wrong with that She's a young lady, she's beautiful And I just think she just experimented And experienced a life with different Relationships
Starting point is 01:16:17 That's a good example of what you said Erica Whenever I hear women say things like Lori Harvey is a hoe You're speaking from your perspective You're projecting because You couldn't go out with Michael B. Jordan When women say things like Lori Harvey is a hoe You speaking from your perspective Yeah You're projecting Yeah Because you couldn't go out
Starting point is 01:16:27 With Michael B. Jordan Right Dancing Idris or whoever else Future Without sleeping with them Right That don't mean she's sleeping with them You don't know
Starting point is 01:16:34 Or just settling for whatever They going for She get Look she is like One thing She out of She ain't staying in no situation long Right
Starting point is 01:16:41 She like She in She be down for you for a minute And we don't know what might transpire, she out of there. And that's what I mean. That's the type of phase I mean.
Starting point is 01:16:49 I love her. Would you consider Nick Cannon a hoe? Yes. Yes, he is. He's out here having babies. He is. He's having sex.
Starting point is 01:16:55 Would you consider Kim Kardashian a hoe? No. No. Why not? Because she's married. She was married to all those people. She was married to Chris Humphries. She was married to,
Starting point is 01:17:02 she's been married four times, right? Three, four times already. Yes, she was married to all the people,. You've been married four times, right? Yeah. Yes, she was married to all the people. Okay, I'm just asking. Just asking. Yes, I'll be your father. All right. Dominique, get them kids out the car. All right, baby, I love you.
Starting point is 01:17:14 I love you, too. Dominique. Yes? You got them kids to school this morning? Yes, I did. They in school with me. Now we can talk hoes. You got the kids out the car.
Starting point is 01:17:26 So what's your thoughts, mama? My thoughts is when you a female or a woman, I don't think that you should ever have a hoes to eat. Because your maturity level should never want your body to even say, I did what's for your men, and that's okay. Like, you're a hoe. There's no acceptance of being a hoe when you're a adult. And when you're a kid, you're a kid, you're young,
Starting point is 01:17:47 you're going to go through a phase where you find a love, so that's not a hoe. But when you're an adult, you don't got no passion. But that's all I'm saying. When you're young, like, when I say young, I'm talking, like, college. Most women probably, if you go to college, most women probably experience that phase in college. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:01 David. Yeah. Good morning, David. What's your thoughts, brother? Yeah, I think the hoe phase thing is something that we just tell ourselves phase in college yeah david yeah good morning david what's your thoughts brother yeah i think uh i think the whole phase thing is something that we just tell ourselves because we are a liberated you know society and all that you know kind of be young be free be you but i think a whole phase does more harm than good okay why are you saying brother because uh it creates kind of a sexualized mindset you know like you know where
Starting point is 01:18:28 you just you're having a bunch of sex and everything it gets to a point where i think it that's kind of all you see like even how you judge people like you judge you know by looks and that's it you know i kind of saw that effect on myself when I kind of did it when I was younger and I wish I hadn't because you start to develop this mindset where that's the only lens you see people through. Like,
Starting point is 01:18:51 are they good looking or not as opposed to are they a valuable person? True. I still think being a hoe is subjective though because, you know, let's just talk about it.
Starting point is 01:18:59 We're doing it sexually. Some people's sex, sexually, they might sleep with 10, 15 people a year. Some people might feel like Two a year is too much Right
Starting point is 01:19:07 You know what I'm saying I do feel like You know I got two I got six kids But one is 21 One is 19 And they're both dating somebody now And I tell them
Starting point is 01:19:14 If that is the person That treats them well And you see yourself with them For the rest of your life Because you don't know Do right by them Because you just don't know You jump into a whole phase
Starting point is 01:19:23 And that could be the person That's going to hold you down, that's going to love you, that's going to make sure they're there for you regardless. And sometimes it's hard to find that love. There's so many women and men out there single looking for that love that they might have. Lil Logie going to live his life. I'm telling you that right now. Lil Logie going to be out here knocking them down.
Starting point is 01:19:38 You can sit here and sit that crazy if you want to. Look how you looking. Lil Logie is a star athlete, good looking kid, muscular. Lil' Logie gonna be out here knocking them down. You hear me? 585-105-1. Lil' Logie, live your life.
Starting point is 01:19:51 And we're talking about the whole thing. We're talking about the whole thing. Do you think you need a whole face? Call us up right now, 800-585-105-1.
Starting point is 01:20:01 I just want to tell y'all right quick before we go, Logan called me, Dad, put me on a group chat with me, you, and Charlamagne. I'm like, no. No. Ever. I'm like, no.
Starting point is 01:20:09 Put me on a group chat. I'm like, no. Logan, you want to know where the fun at? Logan, you want to know where the fun at? It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. It's topic time.
Starting point is 01:20:22 Pick up the phone, baby. Call 800-585-1051 to join into the discussion with the breakfast club let's talk about it morning everybody it's dj nv charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club now if you're just joining us we're talking about the whole phase meaning do you think you need a whole phase before i guess you settle down that is the question and you know it's interesting because you asked me something the other day i I mean, a couple of minutes ago, because I do have four daughters. I think that we don't like to deal with the reality that everybody's going to have a life. You're right.
Starting point is 01:20:54 Our grandmas had a life. Our mamas had a life. Our sisters had lives. Our aunts had lives. They was out there popping that poom-poom for a goon. The same way we out here with somebody's daughter. Our aunts had lives. They was out there popping that poom poom for a goon. They was. The same way we out here with somebody's daughter. I'm married to somebody's daughter, Envy.
Starting point is 01:21:10 Correct. Envy, you're married to someone's daughter. I know. It's going to happen. Yeah. So the reality is to sit around and act like it's not and try to deter them. It's just like, man. And I'm not sitting there saying I want my daughters to be hoes by any means.
Starting point is 01:21:22 I'm just saying I know they're going to live their lives. And that's what I would just tell them to do. Yeah, that's what I tell my daughter. I'm living that life now. We're having a son, older son, and my daughter becoming a teenager. So I tell them, but it is different. I got to tell them my conversation with my son is different with my daughter. But at the end of the day, like I be out in this world, women,
Starting point is 01:21:43 I know we want this equal stuff, things we do need to be equal on, but some things we just not, we don't need to be equal to with men. Some things men can do that we just can't do. And some things us women can do that men just can't do. A lot of people disagree with you. They're saying if a man could have a whole face, a woman could have a whole face. I know. That's that other part of the world. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 01:22:03 This is Selena from Duval. Duval. Talk to us. So I absolutely think that women should have a whole face. And it's absolutely necessary. And define whole face. Because I think that word whole has such a negative connotation. People hear what you're saying and just automatically dismiss it.
Starting point is 01:22:22 But define whole face. And how long is the whole face? Okay, so I would say whole face is being able to mingle while you're saying and just automatically dismiss it but define whole face and how long is the whole face okay so i would say whole face is being able to mingle while you single and do your thing that's my definition of a whole face you get the devil and devil and have a treat of everything here and there and then you do it for as long as you need to but don't do it for an extended amount of time that's true okay i i honestly think you do it until you find somebody you just want to hold it for the rest of your life i I think that's, yeah, I think what you're saying is absolutely true. I think so too. Like, whenever I get to that level again, I would want somebody and I want to just experience like whole stuff and nasty stuff.
Starting point is 01:22:56 Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's the thing in Atlanta that I've never been to and I'm at this age, I've never been to. Oh, you're talking about a trapper? Yeah, trapeze. Trapeze, yeah. I've never been there but I want to get with somebody that I know I'm going to be with for a long time.
Starting point is 01:23:10 Like, let's just go in there and just look at everybody or even do it. Yeah, I ain't never heard of it. I heard about trapeze. I've never been in there. What's trapeze, Pamil? This is...
Starting point is 01:23:18 Sex club? Can we say? I don't know if we can say. I mean, it's a spot where you can go and they just be doing... It's a sex club. Do people know this? Like, is this a thing? Yeah, it's a thing. Everybody out there. Everybody out there. All right, let's a spot where you can go and they just be doing. It's a sex club. Do people know this?
Starting point is 01:23:26 Is this a thing? Yeah, it's a thing. Everybody out there. All right, just make it short. I don't want to put them on blast. Oh, no, no, no. They pass our cards. Oh, okay, okay, okay.
Starting point is 01:23:34 So, yeah, it's a place where people go and they be doing. Is music there? Who? Music. If you want music in your room, it's different rooms. Oh, no. Okay, yeah. I thought it was a club.
Starting point is 01:23:43 It's a swingers club. I'm looking at it online. It's like a swingers club. And the website even says it's a swing. Oh, no. Okay, yeah. I thought it was a club. It's a swingers club. I'm looking at it online. It's like a swingers club. And the website even says it's a swingers club in Atlanta. Yeah, but you don't got to swing. You can just be with your partner and y'all do y'all thing. You have the door open and have people look. Or you can go around and just look at other people.
Starting point is 01:23:56 It seems like you've been researching this a little bit. Yeah, because I really want to do that. I just ain't found a partner yet that I can do it with. Okay. Hello, who's this? Hey, this is ******. So, I started my whole thing in 2020 after I was heartbroken by this guy. And so, I started dating outside.
Starting point is 01:24:16 I live in Atlanta. I started dating outside of Atlanta. And, man, it really opened me up to some new things. Just different types of men, what I like. I got to date, like, multiple men. I'm a lover at heart, so I'm used to being in, like, one relationship at a time. But I was, like, dating multiple men at one time, getting flown out, okay, getting trips and money and all kinds of stuff. And it had just been an opening for me.
Starting point is 01:24:43 I was in a relationship in 2021 that stemmed from my ho-face. Then I broke up with him. Then I was in another relationship in 2022 and we recently broke up. So now I'm back to my ho-face and I'm just enjoying life. I have so many offers for trips
Starting point is 01:25:00 from men that want to meet up with me and go places and stuff like that. And i'm just i'm loving life and honestly i follow i don't know if y'all heard of her but if you get her on the show her name is shira seven she's on um youtube and she's starting to be like this youth this sensation she's like the female kevin samuels as if she's right um and people like starting to blow her up because like she talks about how to date multiple men and date for money and how women need to stop trying to like well see i'm 37 i'm older and i want to be married with kids but these men play games in atlanta
Starting point is 01:25:40 so i had to start learning how to date a different type of way instead of going into it thinking like I want to be in love and I want this and I want that. I really need to keep my options open because these men keep their options open. See Erica, they do love for you Erica. She's 37 to her face. So I wonder what she getting to me. She said she going out of
Starting point is 01:26:00 town. She on like one of those little websites, singles.com She go right to athens or savannah she said oh she said oh that alana that part alana i lied i made that up yeah i gotta say she probably makes me like marry me all right that's my spirit well what's what's the moral of the story the moral of the story i just think everybody should live a little bit man and and living is subjective whatever you want to call it a whole phase or whatever it's just all subjective you might deal with 14 people but you might deal with two people and feel like that's too much but
Starting point is 01:26:30 uh just live your life until you find that one person you know you want to hold with forever well y'all don't do no whole phase in atlanta why you don't want to do that girl atlanta off the chain i'm gonna take erica's uh word for it. Please. When we come back, we got your rumor report. We'll tell you what's popping off in the rumors. Don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Hey, everybody. It's D.E.J. N.V. Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. We got our guest co-host
Starting point is 01:26:56 Erica Dutchess here. And let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Sukihana. Call out a name or you gossiping or you chatty patty. I am gossiping. This is the rumor report. I mean, I guess we on The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:27:09 This is where the tea spills, right? Right. On The Breakfast Club. All right. Now, Sukihana was doing an interview yesterday and she started crying. She said she was hurt. Now, if you don't know who Sukih hana is she's on love and hip-hop she came up here a couple of weeks ago and she has a song with afro b that talks about eating men's bunkies um and
Starting point is 01:27:31 that wasn't no oh what i can't say that he dumped you just in case well i was saying suki hana was here she has a song with Afro B out. And they were doing an interview with her, and they started crying because she said Mama D called her black and fat. It did hurt my feelings when she said I was fat. Because it's just like, you don't know how much we go through to try to fit this image for TV. Like, it's really hard. Like, y'all don't know how much I go through. I try to, you know, work out, diet, everything. It's really hard.
Starting point is 01:28:07 So it did hurt my feelings to hear her say that. Thank you for being transparent in that moment. To honestly say that you are a fan of Mama D's and to say that it hurts her feelings, I think that humanized you even more. People don't know how much people go through to fit an image, you know? So it is what it is. But at the end of the day, I'm going to stand my ground. Let it out. I mean, it's okay. I think that's... It's not a big deal, you know so it is what it is but at the end of the I'ma stand my ground let it out I mean it's okay I think that's that's you know it just it just is a lot
Starting point is 01:28:30 of pressure so I don't want to be crying like I'm not a victim of anything who's that young jock right that was young jock it's Luthor young jock in the streets morning takeover yeah young jock street mr. Mika show you 94.5 ATL now this was the original argument here that it all came from that was that was part of the argument so now this is my problem when people get their feelings hurt like that right and i don't know the full argument, but they said that, you know, Sukiana called her old and a bunch of different names. Don't be mad when you go at me, and then when I go at back you, my words hurt more than your words hurt. Don't be mad at that.
Starting point is 01:29:17 I don't know. Is that what happened in this situation? That's what it seems like. That's what they're telling me. Is that what happened, Erica? Do you know? I know a little bit of it. I seen when Mama D was, I think Mama D was on an interview or somewhere, and she was trying to describe Suki for something.
Starting point is 01:29:32 I don't know if she said that the fat and blasted her. I don't know if she said that. But whatever happened, when Mama D said what she said, Suki came back and said what she said. It was just so happened they ended up at the same birthday party, and that's when it went down. Yeah, because't like that you know a lot of times people say something about somebody and then when somebody with every reaction every for every action is a reaction that's why i react when i react don't get mad because i go too far that's why i be
Starting point is 01:29:57 leaving people alone with everybody oh you went too far that's why you know mine yeah and i always go too far my wife tells me i go too far charlamagne tells me I go too far. Charlamagne tells me I go too far. So I try not to go that far because I don't have a chill button. Right. I know I go too far. Yeah, you kill ants with a sledgehammer. You don't need to do that. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:30:14 Let everybody live. That's why I don't want to play with y'all. So don't play with me. It's about those combinations of words. You can call somebody fat. You know what I'm saying? You say, you fat and black. You can call somebody old.
Starting point is 01:30:24 You say, you old and black. You know what I'm saying? I'm saying about what you could just call somebody black and that's beautiful Right, but what's when you add those low adjectives to it is when you know? You off I just hate that I love I love mama D. I got you know I know her personally Yeah, that's my girl. We all need a movie by two movies with mama Mama D Then I was on Like a Reality show With Mama D Yeah I heard you I heard you say earlier You said
Starting point is 01:30:49 Sukiana needs to relax Cause she don't know Mama D Yeah I mean Well don't be trying To tell Sukiana I said relax I don't know
Starting point is 01:30:57 If I said all that Cause I I don't want no drama But nobody I love everybody You know what I'm saying Suki you're good with me. But I ain't nobody else. But I mean, but
Starting point is 01:31:07 yeah. Mama D ain't nothing to play with. But Mama D ain't nothing to play with though. I don't know she know Mama D history because Mama D was really a real pimp. Okay. Like when Scrappy say he was brought up in like a whorehouse. Yeah. He for real. Mama D don't play it. Look, I respect Mama D
Starting point is 01:31:23 on a whole nother level Let me tell you One day we were shooting We were having like This dinner party And Mama D didn't want to be Like in Mama D mode She wanted to be She cooked for everybody
Starting point is 01:31:33 Now Mama D can cook I don't know if you know She can cook She cooked for everybody And she had on her little Abram her little cook suit Right And I really just
Starting point is 01:31:40 This part like my First week of knowing her Right She pulled me to the side. She said, come on, let me tell you something. I said, what's up, Mama D? She said, hey, what's up, Mama D? She said, look, I'm not Mama D today.
Starting point is 01:31:51 She said, I don't want nobody taking no pictures of me. I don't want nobody coming up to me and all that. I said, oh, okay, Mama D. She said, but I'm going to need for you to do it. I'm going to need for you to make sure that happens. Oh, you're security. Yeah. Hey, this is just off the roof.
Starting point is 01:32:03 She told me to come here. Yeah. And I came, right? So soon, while me and Mama D was talking, she told me this. Somebody said, Mama D, can you take the picture? She grabbed me like this by my neck and she was like, now get on your job. And what you did?
Starting point is 01:32:16 I told her, I said, hey, no picture today. I said, no picture today. Mama D bought that life, though. I love both ladies. You don't even know Sukiyana. I don't know, but know i see what i love her though lastly manny fresh talks about his best love song of all time probably not gonna hear none of the new played at a wedding reception five years from now you will still hear that music play yeah you will hear that come on and the crowd go crazy and they still do their thing from a DJ perspective. Because I DJ every week and I still got to put their stuff in rotation.
Starting point is 01:32:48 You feel me? If something come out new, and I'm not dissing the dudes, but it usually lasts five minutes. You know what I'm saying? It doesn't have that soul, that sauce, that feel good. You know what I'm saying? What is your go-to DJ song? If you could only play one song besides that. Back that ass up.
Starting point is 01:33:05 That's the greatest love song ever. up. Greatest love song ever. That's the greatest love song ever. Greatest love song ever. He says it's the greatest love song of all time. Back that ass up. I don't disagree with him. I think you can put

Starting point is 01:34:11 Charlamagne Tha Guy We are The Breakfast Club I want to tell y'all something About a week ago, I think a guy called During Get It Off Your Chest and was saying Please do not put teens in the Uber Because he said they get a fine It could be a big problem
Starting point is 01:34:24 So Uber just released a part of the app It's called Uber X Teen put teens in the uber because they said they get a fine uh it could be a big problem so uber just released a part of the app it's called uber x teen where minors can actually ride now that's for 13 to 17 you could request a ride but the parent can also follow the kid in the car to make sure the kid gets to the right destination so i still don't trust that for some reason i feel like you're letting people you're letting people know, this person is indeed a minor. I feel like it would make it easier for people who are targeting minors. And even though I know it can be tracked and all, I don't know. There's something about it that don't feel right.
Starting point is 01:34:55 Right, yeah. I mean, when my son was 16, I would put him in an Uber. Like, if he had practice and I couldn't make it, I would just hop in an Uber and I would take care of the Uber. He's older than that now. When he was 16, he was built like a 25-year-old. That's true. He look more manly than you. Watch your mouth.
Starting point is 01:35:08 He does. Watch your mouth. You say that all the time about him, too. You gotta see, wait till you see Lil' Logan. Lil' Logan built like Jonathan Majors, man.
Starting point is 01:35:15 Oh, John. Make Envy look like his son, to be honest with you. Yo, shit. Shut up, man. Yeah, I put my daughter on. Every time Charlamagne say something,
Starting point is 01:35:23 I be like, Charlamagne says, Logan's the man of the house. He just goes, yup. I be like, don't get your ass whooped. Don, I put my daughter on. Every time Charlamagne say something, I be like, Charlamagne says, Logan's the man of the house. He just goes, yup. I be like, don't get your ass whooped. Don't get your ass whooped. He light-skinned too?
Starting point is 01:35:30 Yeah, he light-skinned. Oh. He light-skinned. Light-skinned, curly hair, diesel. Wait till you see him. When you see him, you be like,
Starting point is 01:35:36 damn, that didn't be Big Brother? Yo, shut up. Wow. You don't absolutely feel that way. My daughter bigger than me, though. She's 16. I put her in an Uber too. All the time.
Starting point is 01:35:43 I go to school. Yeah. How far to school school probably about 15 minutes away because we i mean 16 is old 16 is not like you know you you old enough to drive well i feel like if you're old enough to drive you should be old enough to ride you know in new york new jersey you can't you can only get your permit at 16 so somebody has to be in the car with you so if i'm not there i just do him in uber he's old enough now he drives himself but, yeah, I threw him in the Uber once or twice. But anyway, shout to UberX for doing that and Uber for doing that. When we come back, we got the positive note. It's the Breakfast Club.

Starting point is 01:37:28 We feel it in our body when we've outgrown a relationship. The conversations reflect our past self. We don't share any real values, and a part of us feels drained from forcing the connection. So remember, guilt of letting go is not a kind reason to hold on. Breakfast Club, bitches! You all finished or you all done?
