Happy to be here. Another day to serve. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Our beautiful listeners all over the country. What's going on? Yep, yep, yep, yep. Everybody listening to us on the radio. Everybody who listens to us on the iHeartRadio app. Everybody who listens to us later, I guess. Yep, on YouTube or however you listen. That's right. What's happening?
Starting point is 00:02:22 Appreciate you guys. I'm out in Atlanta. Shout out to everybody in the A. I'm out in Atlanta. Shout out to everybody in the A. I'm back in Atlanta. Shout out to Lincoln Tech. Lincoln Tech is a trade school, and they're just opening up a new campus today. So I'm coming to show support and love. They always support me with all my car shows.
Starting point is 00:02:35 So the fact that they're opening up a campus, and it's a trade school. So if you're into HVAC or healthcare or automotive, and you don't feel college is the right decision to you, and you want to go to trade school and learn a trade, they're opening one up in Atlanta. So I'm coming. I'm down here to show some love and support. Oh, it's a lot of people waking up this morning, you know, who are going to do jobs that they learned in trade school, and we appreciate you. Oh, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Thank you for your service. That's right. What's happening out there? As the weather's starting to change, you know, we need all those HVAC people. Yeah, it's fake change, you know. Like one all those HVAC people. Yeah, it's fake changing, though. Like, one day it's 90 degrees, one day it's 40. You know, at least here in New York City. I can't speak for all over the world because I was in Orlando this past weekend, and it was hot.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Matter of fact, there's only certain places you should say is hot as hell. And most of those places are down south, but definitely in Florida. Yes, Florida's hot. Florida and Texas, both of those places are hot. South Carolina, too, now. Jesus. Don't get it twisted. We haven't got there in the city yet.
Starting point is 00:03:32 If you live somewhere where you smell more than four or five musty people a day, it's hot. Okay? It's hot. Don't just blame it on people's bad body habits, bad body odor habits. Sometimes it's just too hot, and certain deodorants can't withstand the heat. You got to think about musty people. You just don't like musty people, do you? No, I don't have a problem with musty people.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Musty people have a problem with themselves because they can't smell themselves. You know, so it's up to us to let them know that they musty. We can make the world a better place just by simply, you know what I'm saying, letting people know, hey man, you might be you might need to go back in the bathroom and put something on or you know every day every deal is not for everybody no but every deal is just everybody that's why that's why i just said every deodorant can't withstand the heat you're right you gotta you gotta try it out because sometimes it'll work for you or work for your your homie not for you or work for your wife not for you you gotta and
Starting point is 00:04:23 your body changes. That right guard might have used to work in high school. But if the right guard goes left as you get older, then you got to get something a little stronger. That's true. It's just that simple. It ain't rocket science, people. That's all.
Starting point is 00:04:34 You ain't got to be musty. But it starts with being honest about telling people that they musty. And it starts with trusting your own nose. When you can sniff under their armpits, don't act like you don't smell what you smell. Okay? It's there. It's there?
Starting point is 00:04:49 It's there. All right. Well, Jacob Lattimore and Luke James will be joining us this morning. You know them from The Shies. Season 6 starts this week, so we're going to be kicking it with them. Yeah, it's on Screaming on Paramount Plus now, so yeah. That's right. Starts this Friday, so we'll talk to them this morning.
Starting point is 00:05:04 All right. We got front page news coming up. We'll tell you about the kids in the Bronx and that the fact they don't know what a computer is. Don't repeat that. You're repeating that with no context, and they're going to think it's your dumb ass saying that. No, we'll explain it when we come back. It definitely wasn't me. It's too late.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Somebody already got it. Somebody already feel like it. DJ Envy said people in the Bronx don't know what a computer is. Well, we'll explain when we come back. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. It's Kendrick Lamar. They not like us.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I can't believe that Drake let Kendrick Lamar put out a summer bop before he did. Surprising. That is the song that ruined the summer for light-skinned men and bi-racials everywhere. Drop one of Clues bombs for Kendrick Lamar. Where's Eli? Eli! Oh, my goodness. Where's our little Lamar. Where's Eli? Eli! Where's our little resident OVO? Eli!
Starting point is 00:05:48 Where is Eli? There go Eli. Eli, grab the microphone. I want to ask you a question. Eli is in here. His Instagram name is OVO Eli. Eli, I have a simple question for you. What do we got? Do you consider yourself gay, straight, or Drake? That's a trick question.
Starting point is 00:06:05 He's an OVO That's a trick question. He said OVM. Have a blessed morning. All right, well, let's get into some front page news. Last night, the Knicks beat the Pacers 130-121. That's game two. Congratulations to all the Knicks fans out there. All right, now also, we got to talk Ryan Garcia. He teases a date for Errol Spence fight.
Starting point is 00:06:27 They're saying it's August 10th at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. That's a good fight. That is a great fight. Ryan Garcia posted that he sent the offer down and is just waiting for the response. That is a good fight. Who you got on that fight? You know, when I first saw it this morning the first thing i said was uh even even in earl spence's current condition whatever that condition may be uh i still think
Starting point is 00:06:54 a 60 70 earl spence can beat ryan garcia but i don't know let me give it some more thought so we'll definitely see if that happens now also ind also, Indianapolis columnists won't be able to cover Caitlin Clark after an awkward interaction. To me, it didn't sound too crazy. Let's let you hear it and see what you guys think. Very cool. You like that? I like that you're here. I like that you're here.
Starting point is 00:07:21 I do that in my family after every game, so it's pretty cool. Start doing it to me and we'll get along just fine now what he was talking about is the heart sign he put up the heart sign and she said you like that and he said yes and she was like I do that with my family he said you do that with me and we'll love you here I didn't see a problem with it
Starting point is 00:07:39 I didn't either did Caitlyn complain I don't know she seemed like she was the one that says you like that like I do that with my family it didn't either. Did Caitlyn complain? I don't know. She seemed like she was the one that says, you like that? Like, I do that with my family. It didn't seem like any flirtatious, nothing like that. He put up the hearts on it. He seemed like he was kind of starstruck to me a little bit.
Starting point is 00:07:53 It didn't seem like that to me either. But, hey, man, who am I? Yeah, well, he was suspended. All right, now, also, we got to talk about the New York governor. Governor Kathy Hochul, I should say, said this about black kids in the Bronx. Governor Kathy Hochul faces criticism for a controversial remark that she made during a business conference. She was highlighting the importance of expanding access to technology and artificial intelligence for low income families during an onstage interview. Well, the comment she made immediately drew criticism from local
Starting point is 00:08:25 political leaders. Listen. Right now we have, you know, young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don't even know what the word computer is. They don't know. They don't know these things. Well, Hochul issuing a statement now walking back on her words saying, I misspoke. I regret it. Of course, black children in the Bronx know what computers are. The problem is that they too often lack access to the technology needed to get on track to high-paying jobs in emerging industries like AI. Kids in the Bronx absolutely know what the word computer is. Rowdy Rebel and Bobby Smurda taught them that word years ago.
Starting point is 00:09:02 What are we talking about? He's stupid. He's so weird. What are we talking about? He's stupid. Okay. So weird. What are we talking about here? There's a huge difference from what she thought she was saying when she backtracked. Yeah. What she actually said. The word computer.
Starting point is 00:09:12 What? She should have said they don't have maybe access. Yeah. You know, to computers and the right technology. But once again, they do know what the word computers is because of Roddy Rebel and Bobby Smurda. Well, they know before Roddy Rebel and Bobby Smmurda, but 50 Cent responded and said, hey, these kids in the Bronx know how to work my iPad better than me.
Starting point is 00:09:29 What you talking about, lady? Mayor Adams said, when you make thousands of speeches, when you're in front of the camera all the time, when you're trying to be authentic and say the things that you're really feeling, one can sit back and do a critical analysis on every sentence you say. I know her heart. I know what she was intending to say and she was not trying to be disrespectful to the people of the bronx who said that uh the mayor eric adams oh i can i can i can believe that but you know you still
Starting point is 00:09:56 as a governor are responsible for every single word that comes out of your mouth that's why you have people who write damn near every word that comes out of your mouth that's why you practice these talking points that's why you get prepared to go out near every word that comes out of your mouth. That's why you practice these talking points. That's why you get prepared to go out there and speak. So even if she's speaking off the cuff, yeah, I can understand, you know, making that mistake. But I guess we can say, hey, we know what she meant. But you can really only judge people sometimes based off what they actually say. So the only thing she can do is apologize, you know, what she's done
Starting point is 00:10:25 and she says she regrets it and tell people what she actually meant. Right. All right. Well, that is front page news. It's just wild to say they don't even know
Starting point is 00:10:33 the word computer. That's crazy. She went all the way with it. She said they don't have computers. They don't have access to computers. They don't know how to work computers. But they don't even know the word computer?
Starting point is 00:10:44 Yeah, that sounds crazy. Even if she said they didn't have Wi-Fi for computers. They don't have good Wi- computers, but they don't even know the word computer? Yeah, that sounds crazy. Even if she said they didn't have Wi-Fi for computers, they don't have good Wi-Fi. That would have sounded a lot better. She out of touch. It's one of the biggest records ever in New York in the last decade is computers. Parody reference. I bet all the parents sitting in the Bronx are like, don't you know what a computer is? Like, I bet you.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Every parent is like, uh-uh. And then uproar all right well that is front page news what up jess what's up how you feeling this morning i'm good no she's not she's pregnant i'm good i had morning sickness for the first time in a long time this morning it was just not good so okay but i'm good now though all right well else, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open. Again, 800-585-1051. Get it off your chest. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. It's a new day. This is your time to get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Wake up. Whether you're mad or blessed. It's time to get up and get something. Call up now. 800-585-1051. We want to hear from you're mad or blessed. It's time to get up and get something. Call up now. 800-585-1051. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? This is Ty.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Hey, good morning. Get it off your chest. Hey, how y'all doing, man? I've been trying to get a hold of y'all for the last two months, man, to get this off my chest. What's up, Ty? We here. We blessed black and highly favored, man. What's happening?
Starting point is 00:12:05 Man, I'm just surprised I'm on the phone with y'all. But look, listen. I basically wanted to tell everybody, you know, I'm a truck driver. And I'm on the highway every day. And the way we be getting treated on these highways with these cars, cutting us off and trying to break check us and all that other stuff. Like, y'all going to mess around and get hurt out here with these trucks. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:12:31 Like, when I first started driving, I used to see so many cars, cars and truck accidents. I used to feel bad for the people in the cars. Now it got to the point to where I see cars and truck accidents, and I don't feel nothing. It's just like you said, never messing around with that truck. I feel more bad for the truck driver when they get to acting with a car than the car because I feel like we don't have so much space to stop.
Starting point is 00:12:50 We deal with a lot of stress dealing with four wheels every day and people just don't understand that and when they cut us off with a little bit of room
Starting point is 00:12:58 and all of that, like, you gotta understand, we can't stop on the drop of a dime like a car. We need room. Not every driver is like that, though.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Not everybody. I know you said you don't feel bad for the passenger. You feel bad for the truck driver. But not every driver is like that, brake checking you guys or cutting you guys off, man. But I do understand. No, no, no. No, you're right about that. Every driver is not like that, but the majority of people.
Starting point is 00:13:23 You get what I'm saying? When you've been driving for a long time and you deal with the stuff that goes on on the road with these cars and how people just get mad because they think we got all the speed in the world to speed up quick or switch lanes. Yeah, and it definitely matters what's in your trailer. Sometimes you're carrying liquid. Sometimes you're carrying a taxi. You know, stuff like that. You can tell who baby daddy a truck driver, huh?
Starting point is 00:13:46 You can tell who in a relationship with a whole truck driver in this room, can't you? I'm just saying. All of a sudden, you know what's in the trailer. You're right. You're right. Yes, you can definitely tell. But I definitely feel your pain, brother. But I agree we shouldn't play with trucks.
Starting point is 00:14:02 But also, some truck drivers need to stop driving Like they regular cars I be watching these big Mack trucks Cutting over like they just regular Hondas A salute to you brother Be safe on the road Hello who's this? It's Courtney Get it off your chest

Starting point is 00:14:44 I mean, of course, there's the high school, but... Oh, 11th, and 12th And it's actually Been pretty fun I mean Of course They're the high school But Oh you said 11th and 12th 10th, 11th, and 12th Yeah Wow

Starting point is 00:15:03 But you should not Be talking to them Like they grown people, you know. You got to keep them in check. Okay, okay. Well, thank you so much. You have a good one, okay? You too.
Starting point is 00:15:12 Miss Courtney. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Get it off.
Starting point is 00:15:25 This is your time to get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? My name is Adelaide. I got a lot to get off my chest this morning. Well, go for it. What's up, Adelaide?
Starting point is 00:15:39 What's up? All right, so this weekend was a terrible weekend for my son's prom. I rented an exotic car. The guy took my money terrible weekend for my son's prom. I rented an exotic car. The guy took my money, never brought my son his car, crashed his pictures, his photo shoot dreams with his exotic car. That man had me crying on my son's prom day. Where you based out of? I'm from Chicago, but I live in Fort Myers.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Oh, Florida. Okay. What kind of car was it? It's supposed to have been a Royce Royce. And what was it? Nothing? A Chrysler? She said nothing came? No, he didn't bring nothing.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Every time the time came, he changed my son's date. So, I mean, I had a very terrible experience. So, I just want to cuss this ass out. Did y'all do a contract or something?
Starting point is 00:16:20 We did everything over email. Right now, I'm still waiting on him to send me my money back. He said he has to wait on his boss to approve it. still waiting on him to send me my money back. He said he has to wait on his boss to approve it, like to approve to send me my money back. You might have to contact a little lawyer or something. Let a lawyer reach out to him.
Starting point is 00:16:35 I just want to put his company on blast. He sucks. Damn. Well, you know what? You stay on hold because if you... I got a couple of people that own Rolls Royces in Florida. I don't know if they're by you, but if you want to take a photo shoot with a rose race i'm sure we can set that up so you're not sitting there looking crazy the prom is over though but she might want to do
Starting point is 00:16:52 a photo shoot though that man's crushed my son's dream i mean my son was designer down i was waiting on his car so i lost money with the photo shoot people i'm the terrible experience for his one time in a lifetime. So what did he end up driving to the front? He had to take my car. What kind of car you got? I have a 2023 Kia. Kia.
Starting point is 00:17:14 So Lord have mercy. Oh, damn. So he pulled up like a hamster. I was crying. This guy didn't even care. He pulled up like a well-dressed hamster. Yeah, he was right.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Yeah, I'm so mad. But good morning, y'all. Hope y'all enjoy y'all day. All right. No, stay on hold. Don't hang up. I'm going to call my guy, Ronnie. I'm going to get you a car to do a photo shoot.
Starting point is 00:17:40 So at least you can have the pictures. Yeah, I know. And he was designed there down. I mean, I went all out for this guy to do it like that. I mean. Yeah, that's wild. I bet he was the flyest person in that Hyundai. So all across the country, though.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Kia Soul, sir. Oh, Kia Soul. My bad. Yeah, I got to send y'all some pictures so y'all can post them. I'm going to go on Facebook and send y'all his picture. He ended up looking so fly. The only thing, it was just an exotic car. That guy straight played us.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Yeah, it ain't about what he driving, man. It's about who he is as a person anyway. That's right. Yeah, thank y'all so much. I appreciate that. Don't hang up. Hold on, okay? Okay, thank you.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Pull up in the hamster car with the ceiling missing. You hear me? Hello, who's this? Yo, this T at the 803. What's going on, Breakfast Club? Metro. What's happening? Yo, this T at the 803. What's going on, brother's club? Metro. What's happening? Get off your chest, man.

Yeah, Suki got a lot to get off her chest for JT and a new diss record. All right, we'll get into that next. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to Jess with the mess. News is real, brother. The Lions, Jessica Robin Moore, Jess don't do no lying. She don't scare nobody.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Worldwide Jess, worldwide mess. On The Breakfast Club. She's a culture shift. She was able to get y'all to see something and understand something that nobody could get you to see. It's time to set it all. All right, y'all. So a few days ago, you know, I reported on the beef building up between JT and Sukiana. To recap it, it started when JT dropped her song, OK, and had some buzz that people thought were aimed at Suki.
Starting point is 00:20:59 So, y'all, this is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nemany here. I'm the host of a brand-new history podcast
Starting point is 00:21:29 for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
Starting point is 00:21:57 nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was called a moment. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make
Starting point is 00:22:17 history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Messy. But the gag is, not everything is a mess. Sometimes it's just living. Yeah, things like J-Lo on her third divorce. Living. Girls' trip to Miami. Mess. Ozempic.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Messy, skinny living. Restaurant stealing a birthday cake. Mess. Wait, what flavor was the cake, though? Okay, that's a good question. Hooking up with someone in accounting and then getting a promotion. Living. Breaking up with your girlfriend while on Instagram Live.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Living. It's kind of mess. Yeah. Well, you get it. Got it? Live, love, mess. Listen to Mess with Sydney Washington and Marie Faustin on iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pardenti.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And I'm Jimei Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, the early career podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. One of the most exciting things about having your first real job is that first real paycheck. You're probably thinking,
Starting point is 00:23:42 yay, I can finally buy a new phone. But you also have a lot of questions,, how should I be investing this money? I mean, how much do I save? And what about my 401k? Well, we're talking with finance expert Vivian Toot, aka Your Rich BFF, to break it all down. I always get roasted on the internet when I say this out loud, but I'm like, every single year you need to be asking for a raise of somewhere between 10 to 15%. I'm not saying you're going to get 15% every single year, but if you ask for 10 to 15 and you end up getting eight, that is actually a true raise. Listen to this week's episode of Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. He asked JT to clarify what she was talking about.
Starting point is 00:24:28 JT did, but she started coming at Suki, like proceeded to flame her, like she really didn't like her, like had some backhanded hate a little bit. So Suki shared that she felt that JT was on a coke ramp and she chose not to argue with her and that she would just jump in the booth. Well, the song is out and it's called Cocaine and she dropped not to argue with her and that she would just jump in a booth well the song is out and it's called cocaine and she dropped it yesterday
Starting point is 00:24:47 girl you foaming out your mouth is it rabies first of all i don't know how sukiyana gonna attempt to shame somebody for eating booty Do you eat booty gravy? Everybody in Miami say you suck. You're lazy. First of all, I don't know how Sukiyana gonna attempt to shame somebody for eating booty. She said JT's diet. Uh-huh, and had y'all up here doing it when she came up here. Remember, we all took the picture. A little eating boogie dance. Yeah, we did the boogie dance.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Yeah. All right, she had some more to say, too. She was talking about Uzi. All right, we're back, man. Let me tell you about hate. Those assholes like to smile in your face. I can never trust a dope fiend anyway. We'll be right back, man. Damn. All right, now. It's all fun and games until JT go to hell on Sukiana.
Starting point is 00:25:43 You think Sukiana might have went low just now, but don't think JT not going to go to hell. Because that little mouth is slick. And she's from Florida. The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. Yep, yep, yep. Suki said, ain't a damn thing I'm ashamed of. So you can't really say anything to embarrass me. Everybody know what I've been through.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Everybody know. You know, I put everything out there. So we shall see. It's not about embarrassing her. It's about them's about them jokes oh yeah it's about being funny should jt respond though yes because sukhiana sukhiana's just using this for promotion for her her her tv show and so jt you know shouldn't take any of this pressure she should just respond and use it for promo so so why would jt respond though because i don't think people look at Sukiyana as a rapper-rapper yet, right? So you give her that acknowledgement?
Starting point is 00:26:27 Why not? People do. You know, she got a fan base. She does. Whether it's from Baddies or her other songs or Love & Hip Hop or, you know. But she does have a strong following. JT's a multi-platinum artist, though, right?
Starting point is 00:26:40 She's been platinum a couple times. Yes, she is. But so what? First of all, JT can rap, so I always enjoy hearing J jt rap and she needs to stand up for crunchy black long titty women like you know what i mean what that's what sukiana called her on the record she did and i don't think jt is one of those at all but you can't yeah like she got a fan she has she got a fan base that's not long titty women jesus christ yo okay so we'll see we'll see we don't know is who she's standing up for. Jesus Christ. Yo. Okay, so we'll see.
Starting point is 00:27:06 We'll see. We don't know. Is JT on the clock? Not really. He's not putting on air. Whenever she can get to it, she can get to it. It's an option. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Okay. All right. Well, cool. I just don't want her to respond on Twitter. Jump back in the booth and get at this girl, JT. All right. What makes a breath long, by the way?
Starting point is 00:27:22 I don't know. I don't got them long yet. I might not long yet, so I don't know. She said, like, the actual boob the way? I don't know. I don't got them long yet. Mine not long yet, so I don't know. She said like the actual boob is long. I don't understand. What makes it long? I don't know. I've seen some long boobs, but I don't know how they get there.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Like, I thought that came with age or if they just too big. Like when they start hanging. Yes, when they hang. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. So, yep, yep. Okay. So, intruder attempts to enter Drake's home so yesterday
Starting point is 00:27:46 a person was detained for trying to break in Drake's home in Toronto and the Toronto police confirmed that they did stop someone from trying to gain
Starting point is 00:27:54 access to the property but the person was taken under mental health act and was sent to receive medical assistance I don't understand it so wait this is
Starting point is 00:28:02 somebody else this is not the same person that they shooting no this is this is different from the shooting the shooting was a couple. So wait, this is somebody else? This is not the same person that they're shooting? No, this is different from the shooting. The shooting was a couple days ago. This was just yesterday. Somebody else was caught trying to break in his home.
Starting point is 00:28:12 And he didn't get in successfully, but he was taken under the Mental Health Act and was sent to receive medical assistance. That's crazy. They didn't release any additional information about the intruder or the attempted break-in, but this is the second incident to happen at Drake's home this week after one of his guards was shot in the chest. So we just hope Drake stays safe.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Yeah, and Drake is one of the most successful artists ever in the history of life. So if folks know where he lives, they're going to pop up. And I know people want to continue to point the finger at Kendrick and say this is Kendrick's fault because he put the uh the house on the on the album cover but everybody already knew that address yeah and and way prior to this people have been trying to break into drake's house they didn't know dell beckham jr tell us a whole story about one of drake's houses in california that was a california that's what i'm saying like if you know if you know where one of the most successful superstar artists ever lives you're gonna do nuts stuff like this that's why they have 24 hour round-the-clock security right that's right okay uh Shaq responds to Shawnee's claim so um
Starting point is 00:29:12 his ex-wife uh Shawnee Henderson formerly known as Shawnee O'Neal she sat down with Tamra Hall and she just dropped the book it's called Undefeated uh changing the rules and winning on my own terms and she was saying in the book um looking back I don't know that I was ever really in love with the man but I was in love with the idea of being married to the man I had a family with with I was in love with the idea of building a life together and um when she was asked about it this is what she said looking back I don't know that I was ever really in love with the man made one cry yeah but i was in love with the idea of being married to the man i had a family with i was in love with the idea of building a life together
Starting point is 00:29:51 absolutely i was in love with the partnership that i never got i didn't experience partnership in a relationship until now you know shaquille and i have a great relationship now beautiful children and beautiful children i would not change any part of my story. Not one part of my story, no matter how depressed, how sad, how much at the bottom I felt. I would not change one part of it because I feel like my reward is now. That is so powerful. How many people are actually in love, are in love with the idea of being in love the idea of having a family and a husband and all that yeah i mean a lot of women are and then you know they were younger
Starting point is 00:30:31 back then and everything like that and and you never know until you really felt you really feel that type of love because her husband now is showing her that and she's like oh damn i never felt like this so maybe it just came to her, you know, and, but Shaq did respond and said, I understand. I would have, I wouldn't have been in love with me either.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Wishing you all the best. And then he captioned it. Trust me, I get it. All love Shaq. So, um, I know a lot of people was in the comments going at her,
Starting point is 00:30:58 but y'all don't know until y'all been in love or whatever. And the fact that she can grow, that she's grown enough to say that maturely, you know, Shaq's ever been in love. I wonder if he he has too but we always say that the thing is you think you love somebody but i don't think especially young you know what the word love actually means it's easy to say i love you and oh yeah i love you babe and this to any other but if you don't know what that word love means you don't do the work on yourself and understand
Starting point is 00:31:23 you really don't know especially when y'all having sex raw sweating on each other all of that feel like love you know right okay all right that's just with the mask because i don't even want to go into that thank you just now we come back we got front page news today stormy daniels is back in court with donald trump but now it's down to raw sex. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Spankings. Oh, boy. We'll get to it next. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Good morning. You're checking out The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. I don't like how y'all keep cutting that off before the O.V. Hope part, okay? And for the record, we playing Not Like Us quite a few times on Breakfast Club this morning
Starting point is 00:32:03 because that record has the chance to potentially go number one on the Billboard Hot 100. And I want to see that happen for Kendrick Lamar. Not because of Drake, but because that record ruined the summer for waffle-colored Negroes everywhere. Oh, shut up, man. That song is the equivalent of when Nino Brown stabbed Kareem Akbar in the hand on New Jack City. All right. Drop one of Kluge's bombs for Kendrick Lamar, damn it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Well, let's get in some front page news. The Knicks beat the Pacers last night, 130-121. Shout to all the Knicks
Starting point is 00:32:31 fans out there. Yes, indeed. And also, Joker won the NBA MVP the third time in four seasons. So, congratulations
Starting point is 00:32:40 to him. I wonder if they even tried to, I mean, they're not saying that he's not deserving. He is.
Starting point is 00:32:44 But, I mean, Anthony Edwards had an amazing season. Well, everybody said Shy should have won. Shy from OKC had an amazing season. Like, you know, I don't know. It's just. If you earn it three times, great. I'm just saying. I feel like there's other people they could have given it to.
Starting point is 00:32:58 I just wonder if the judges even thought about voting for them. Well, he definitely got the most votes by a landslide. Yeah, that's kind of crazy. voting for them. Well, he definitely got the most votes by a landslide. Yeah, that's kind of crazy. Now in court today, Stormy Daniels is back in court. And that's because now it's time for cross-examination. So Donald Trump's attorneys will be, I guess, examining a testimony. She has to get his testimony against that tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:33:21 So she'll be talking about the spanking. She'll be talking about everything she talked about, about them in the same bedroom, him coming out in his PJs and him wearing tighty-whities. So she'll be talking about that all today in court. So it should be interesting. You excited? Hey, boy, shut up. What if she can understand and say he's a 6'9 God? Yo, how many 6'9s you having to be a 6'9 God? God dang.
Starting point is 00:33:45 That's insane. Now, RFK Jr. says a worm got into his brain and ate a portion of his brain. Okay, okay. Startling statement from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has come to light. He said doctors found an abnormality on his brain scans in 2010 that was, quote, caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died. The quote is from new reporting by the New York Times. Yeah, the Times says that Kennedy made the statement during a deposition as part of his divorce proceeding back in 2012. He was describing experiencing severe memory loss and mental fogginess a couple years
Starting point is 00:34:22 before that. He said that he has fully he says that he's fully recovered from the parasite and that he has no after i don't i don't i don't see the problem what you mean what's the problem that i see a lot of people shaming that man you know and i don't understand why you would shame a man who don't have all his brain the man told you that a worm ate a portion of his brain and y'all don't believe him only a man who has a portion of his brain would say such a thing so clearly clearly something happened so if he's telling me a worm ate at the brain why wouldn't i believe him oh okay all right well let's keep going joe biden he was on cnn last night and he spoke on the economy when i started this administration people were saying we're going to be a collapsing
Starting point is 00:35:06 economy. We have the strongest economy in the world. Let me say it again, in the world. Although GDP last week was far short of expectations. Oh, it wasn't. Look, GDP is still growing. Look at the response of the markets, overwhelmingly positive. And one of the reasons why people feel good about it not being as strong as it was before is they believe that the Fed's going to respond. They hope they're going to get a rate cut. Yeah. No president's had the run we've had
Starting point is 00:35:32 in terms of creating jobs and bringing down inflation. It was 9% when I came to office. People have a right to be concerned. Ordinary people, the idea that you bounce a check and you get a $30 fee for bouncing the check, might change that. You can't charge more than $8 for that. Or your credit card, your late payment, $35.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I mean, there's corporate greed going on out there, and it's got to be dealt with. I mean, that's how you win elections, you know, strong economies. That's what people care about. But folks have to feel that in their pockets. If everyday working class people feel that in their pockets, they will be moved to vote in November. If everyday working class people don't feel that in their pockets, they probably won't be moved to vote in November. But, you know, that's what people care about. Yeah. He also spoke on the fact that they're going to stop sending bombs and ammunition to Israel. Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs
Starting point is 00:36:27 and other ways in which they go after population centers. I made it clear that if they go into Rafah, they haven't gone into Rafah yet. If they go into Rafah, I'm not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities, to deal with that problem. We're going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks like came out of the Middle East recently. But it's just wrong. We're not going to supply the weapons and the artillery shells used that have been used. Art been used as well yeah artillery is it too little too late though like you can't bring back those 30 000 you know palestinians who've been killed in gaza and and and i'll be i'll be wanting
Starting point is 00:37:17 to know what's the hamas death toll like how would they know when they've gotten rid of of all of Hamas. Right. Right. I don't know, but that is front page news. All right. Now, when we come back, Jacob Lattimore and Luke James will be joining us. You know this from The Chi. Season six will premiere, I believe, this Friday. So we're going to kick it with them in a second. Jacob Lattimore and Luke James don't go anywhere. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We got some special guests in the building. Yes. You know them from The Chi.
Starting point is 00:37:55 The Chi returns May 10th. We have Jacob Lattimore and Luke James. Welcome. Yeah. What's up, baby? You feel absolutely welcome. Y'all been doing this show so long, it went from linear television to streaming. Hey, no, we super grateful, man.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Absolutely. Man, this is beyond what we expected. You know, it's just every season, we're like, man, it's just the last one. It's our last round. But, you know, it's been going. It's been going. We're really excited, man.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Especially for a black show. Yeah. We've been around for six seasons. Ain't no show like ours out here. Word. Not for sure. All of television, we still here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:26 I mean, that's a testament to our writers, to our creator, Lena Waithe and Common, to our cast, and to our fans. You know what I mean? And just us continuing to expand, you know? Yeah, and we still growing. You know what I mean? That's like, usually on season six, you're on the decline and slowing down, but season six is our biggest season. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? That's like, usually on season six, you're on the decline, it's slowing down. But season six is our biggest season.
Starting point is 00:38:46 You know what I mean? And shout out to Paramount+. We're excited to be on a new platform. Absolutely. You know who was here earlier this week? Kadeem Hardison. Yeah. He was saying that he's in the shot.
Starting point is 00:38:55 How was working with Kadeem? It is amazing to just kind of be in the same presence with them and just for them to be excited to be on our show because we've been watching them. These are people who grew up watching these are people who you know laid the foundation for us to even be right here talking about any of this um it is a moment to reflect you know just to be grateful and thank god just to persevering and and having a dream and then look at making it full circle man to be working with people that you've been watching forever amazing no no it's been awesome we spoke of y'all the same way yeah about working with him like he was so excited to work with yeah we just we just grateful like
Starting point is 00:39:34 another one of our guest stars that we haven't even announced yet he takes me he was like brother this is the set y'all have is just it's blessed man like the energy with the guest that text you why can't you say we can't say I'm because yeah yeah he's special. He's special. Oh, wow, wow, wow. He's special. It's a great reveal.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Yeah, it's what we do. During the season. But, I mean, you know, we got the great, the beautiful, brilliant, great Lin Whitfield. Yeah. You know, we got Leon. Leon, yeah. Greg Gray. Shout out to Greg Gray.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Oh, man, we got... You can buy me a Leon. I'll take that. I'll take that. And, like, I'm talking about... And they are the phenomenal actors. Yeah, I know. But is there something...
Starting point is 00:40:04 Y'all got, like, the same aesthetic, in a way. I'll receive that. Exactly. I I'm talking about any other phenomenal actor but is there something y'all got like the same aesthetic in a way I received that I grew up watching him I mean Temptations definitely Temptations I was definitely
Starting point is 00:40:12 trying not to do that ain't nobody ain't nobody coming to see you in it I'm like I'm like yeah ain't nobody coming to see you in it
Starting point is 00:40:19 and he's brilliant man to be working with him I mean I've had a lot of scenes with him man and it's just awesome bro just to be able to sit across from somebody he's brilliant, man. To be working with him, I mean, I've had a lot of scenes with him, man. And it's just awesome, bro. Just to be able to sit across from somebody. And he's a cool brother.
Starting point is 00:40:29 He's a cool dude, man. Super cool. I mean, like, it's really real. He just got that thing. It's real smooth. I'm like, oh, it's really Leon. Like, it's him. I'm going to lean into that as I get a little, you know, get a little older.
Starting point is 00:40:39 I'm going to lean into that. How did the shot change your lives, though? What? I could pay for a house, life insurance. It's a show that's grounded in reality. It's not completely escapism. And so we get an opportunity to not only stretch as artists, but as human beings. It's definitely deepened my well
Starting point is 00:41:06 of empathy but just all walks of life to just be able to hold space for everybody um and and it's just opened my eyes to the world in the sense of how i thought you know i'm from new orleans and i i feel a way about my city in such a way and that we're so different from anywhere else. And to be able to be smack dab in the middle of a show that is, in a sense, a love letter to Chicago, to the South Side, to the people of the Chi. And also in a sense of protest to humanize black folks in the black experience. It's awesome. I've been able to dive into a different culture Which is kindred to mine You know
Starting point is 00:41:50 And that's I think the connective tissues Which is awesome about such a show That's what it does for us When I'm in New Orleans and I'm watching The Chi I'm like oh that's like here It's not that much different Everybody is just
Starting point is 00:42:05 Looking for a space To be seen And felt and protected Nah yeah I mean just Going through the airports Being on an airplane And just
Starting point is 00:42:12 I mean going to a restaurant Just also seeing Different demographics Even enjoying the show Like I was at a sushi spot I ain't You know I didn't I'm like okay
Starting point is 00:42:21 Ain't no black people here We good And then just The waiter was Asian He was like hey man You the guy from the shy I'm like oh wow so yeah like he was like oh man but you know but it was like I'm shocked at the dim like the show's growing no really and then like my name is like I really like must they say Emmett I'm like yo
Starting point is 00:42:45 I like really yeah it's crazy your character resonates I mean it's tough if you watch from season one all the way to season six
Starting point is 00:42:52 I mean Emmett like just the growth in the character and whatnot I'm just grateful to be a part of that part of this lineage part of this show
Starting point is 00:43:00 I mean it's been awesome how much input does Lena let you have like with a script contributing to script or like the actual story do you have any um yeah i mean we definitely like if i i'll ask a question you know i i like to respect the writer's room you know what i mean i'll definitely um because we here for a reason and and what we got is working you know what i'm
Starting point is 00:43:22 saying so uh we let the writers do what they do we'll have questions and say hey uh why why did emmy do this or and it'll give me a better understanding on how to approach that scene that day and then uh they'll give me a better breakdown but um they're open to it but i i i like to respect the the lanes because i'm coming here to bring what they they write to life you know so that's the challenge yeah that's the work and that's why you get paid to be able to interpret um but also you know we live with these characters and we have you know we can hear their voices and when we read something we can you know it's pretty open in the sense of like oh maybe not that particular word or that particular phrasing in that kind of way um or that particular action yep um but for the most part yeah it's we let the writers do do what they do and and we do what we do and um yeah also they
Starting point is 00:44:13 see the full spectrum for us you know because that's why every season is different and they they help us grow yeah because sometimes you could just be stuck in this character in this space for where you just were. Yeah. So, y'all, this is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th.
Starting point is 00:44:44 I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey y'all, Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history, like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks
Starting point is 00:45:26 did the same thing. Check it. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records because in order to make make history you have to make some noise listen to historical records on the iHeartRadio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts hi i'm marie and i'm sydney and we're mess well not a, but on our podcast called Mess, we celebrate all things messy. But the gag is, not everything is a mess. Sometimes it's just living. Yeah, things like J-Lo
Starting point is 00:46:12 on her third divorce. Living. Girl's trip to Miami. Mess. Ozempic. Messy, skinny living. Restaurant stealing a birthday cake. Mess. Wait, what flavor was the cake, though? Okay, that's a good question.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Hooking up with someone in accounting and then getting a promotion. Living. Breaking up with your girlfriend while on Instagram Live. Living. It's kind of mess. Yeah. Well, you get it. Got it?
Starting point is 00:46:39 Live, love, mess. Listen to Mess with Sydney Washington and Marie Faustin on iHeartRadio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pardenti. And I'm Jemay Jackson Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, the early career podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. One of the most exciting things about having your first real job is that first real paycheck. You're probably thinking, yay, I can finally buy a new phone. But you also have a lot of questions like, how should I be investing this money? I mean, how much do I save? And what about my 401k? Well, we're talking with finance expert Vivian Tu, aka Your Rich BFF, to break it
Starting point is 00:47:23 all down. And when you read it, and then when you're able to talk to Lena
Starting point is 00:47:54 and everybody, they help you understand, oh, okay, it's a new chapter. It's three years now. It's, you know, months down the line, so he's different, you know? So you just gotta let everybody do their job. And we don't actually, I never feel like I'm coming back to the same he's different, you know? So you just got to let everybody do their job. And we don't actually, I never feel like I'm coming back to the same character every year, you know?
Starting point is 00:48:08 Because that could be, you could feel repetitive. Like every season of Emmett has been different for me. Is there anything that you didn't want to do? Like Kadeem Hardison was saying, he was like, he hated those glasses. He was like, I hated them.
Starting point is 00:48:20 They made me look goofy. I could say maybe the first season. But the glasses were one of the biggest things. That's what we remember. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But he hated it. And he was like, oh. And I think he only said season but the glasses were one of the biggest things that's what we remember but he was like and I think he only said they kept the glasses for one season
Starting point is 00:48:28 or two seasons it was two but it had so much impact on it and then it was like when it was time for him to grow they were like
Starting point is 00:48:35 we want him to grow and he was cool with that so is there anything that we want you to do and you was like and then it wound up I probably haven't had something like that
Starting point is 00:48:42 since season one when they was like had my hair blonde tipping my hair I was like tip of my hair is blonde, I was like, we got to go blonde. Really? Nah, we want Emory to go blonde. It feels young and youthful.
Starting point is 00:48:50 But other than that, we definitely get some say. So I'm like, hey, I don't really like what I'm wearing for this. Why am I wearing this? I'm in the house. There's a collaborative effort. But also, they also have an initiative for for all of us and you know you know we got a lot of youth on the show as well yeah and i hope they're from chicago that's the majority of our cast is from chicago shout out to shaman mikey hannah
Starting point is 00:49:14 natives you know but there's also initiative there's an initiative if you want to direct if you want to write you know there's, they've given us programs that we can align ourselves with when we're off or when we have time that we can shadow other directors, writers, producers. That is so dope. That's the vibration on the set. It's a different ballgame when you say, I want to produce something. You know, because I'm even learning. Because we show up to set. The red carpets rolled out for us.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Our trailers are set. The lines are there. The wardrobe wardrobe is there but it's so much that goes on it's it's prep going on way before we get there and that's the work that um that's that's the tough part that's a different you can't just walk into that and be like oh i got it you know it's something you got to learn all right when we come back we got more with luke james and jacob latimore of course you know them from the shy we'll be talking to them more. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Give me a stick if they purge E-Yah, E-Yah, E-Yah, E-Yah, E-Yah Y'all got on one of they workin' my nerves
Starting point is 00:50:31 I'm bout to pause and serve Hittin' this ball like a purge Back from the back of a purge Ice, the bird Droppin' on all you little turds Can't take the pipe but you turn In my own lane we can't merge So I know how you can learn
Starting point is 00:50:45 Morning everybody, it's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Luke James and Jacob Lattimore from The Chi. Charlamagne? Now, is this the final season? Because that's also been a rumor that this is the final season. Man, we don't know. Y'all know. Y'all shot the last episode.
Starting point is 00:51:00 No, well, no. We literally just finished like maybe two months ago, but we don't know. No, we don't know. Because I'm hearing that every year, like that was the last season. No, we really be like, yo, well, no. We literally just finished, like, maybe two months ago, but we don't know. No, we don't know. Because I'm hearing that every year, like, that was the last season. Last season, that was the last season. No, we really be like, yo, man, because I'm always prepping. I'm always ready to pivot. Like, I'm ready for that next job, you know, acting.
Starting point is 00:51:14 You got to stay ready. Man, we just blessed to be working. Like, this is, we understand that a lot of actors are not working in the game right now, and it's heavy. So we just, you know, if we get another season we grateful um um if we don't you know we just we're grateful we're grateful the experience has been awesome to get past four or five is not yeah you get past a pilot bro yeah yeah no no okay let's just hypothetically if this was the last season are you happy with how it turned out?
Starting point is 00:51:45 Absolutely. Are you happy with how it ended? I am. Yes. My thing is, I've always wanted, for me as a fan, I've always wanted to see the kids at least move out. Hell yeah. Just go on. I thought they should have got their own spinoff. You see what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:52:02 Because that's how much they mean to the show. You never know. And you never know. And it's good that you say that out loud you know because people listening um but you know for me i just want at least at least if we go in let's get the kids out the house into a space where it's like where as an audience we if we think about the show we can just our imagination can go into a peaceful place where the kids survived yeah
Starting point is 00:52:29 after all of it all the things for six seasons they survived yeah you know what I mean yeah bro and with that being said
Starting point is 00:52:36 what was the hardest scenes you had to shoot like emotionally for both of you I want to say I want to say this is definitely my toughest season
Starting point is 00:52:43 yeah same this is my heaviest it's just it's a lot of emotion it's um yeah I want to say I want to say This is definitely My toughest season Yeah same This is My heaviest It's just It's a lot of emotion It's um Yeah The fans are going to be
Starting point is 00:52:50 On the edge of their seat With this one Nobody's safe Nobody's safe It's a struggle for power It's a struggle for safety To protect your family I mean there's a lot
Starting point is 00:52:58 On the line And we all All are tethered Together And in a sense We all have A common enemy And we all got tethered together. And in a sense, we all have a common enemy. And we all got our ups and downs like every season.
Starting point is 00:53:10 But this one is really like asking a lot of all of us, all of our characters. It's pretty heavy. I even felt some days I had to kind of come in method. Because I'm usually high energy every day. Yeah, he is. Early in the morning. Early. method because I'm usually high energy every day yeah yes early in the morning so it was some days I'm like man I gotta really just put them headphones on and lock in today because it's
Starting point is 00:53:32 this scene is gonna require a lot yeah yeah yes I'm happy though I'm happy to do it on this show because most of the time Emma's been very high energy and jokes and laughs but it's getting real it's getting real for it's a new chapter for all of us yeah now luke your character has a type on the show yeah the transgender women that that he likes dating was that a conversation what was that conversation like when they presented that to you that was that was the role when when this when the request for a self-tape came that was the breakdown of the character you know so it's so you it's given to the artist this is who he is you know you choose to do it or choose not not to do it for me i i look at myself as an artist in totality and it's a matter of asking yourself what type of artists are you yeah you
Starting point is 00:54:16 know because it's a matter of telling the truth for me if i can breathe life into a character and be honest about everything that that i'm reading and needing to say to go for it if it moves me in an emotional way i'm all about it and that's what i love about the show because it's just grounded in the reality of what our lives are what they really look like and it's not trying to be this fantasy of what what someone thinks it should look like you know what i mean and no i was geeked about it for me it's overall then in totality i think that the role for me i've never i had never played a thug figure in that sense and nobody understands how hard that is if that's not really who you are that's a great point you just brought up because nobody will say luke you had to play a thug was that tough for you but when it comes to the
Starting point is 00:55:00 transgender it's like luke is it hard for you to be in love is it hard for you to be kind be a loving person who's just searching for safe space and it's not a thing it's not even on the table this character that for him it wasn't a thing on the table for him he had just been living his life and if you if you think about all the characters we all have these these ups and downs which is so cool about this season why we talk so much about mental health within the season. We're not preachy in our show, but we're just going through the motions as everyone does in real life. Because we all value a safe space to be seen and heard and felt and protected. And I really like the nuances of such a character.
Starting point is 00:55:42 How do you protect your piece as a man? I totally understand everything you're saying as an actor, but we still live in a d***head era. We've got all these digital d***s who get online and say, oh yeah, that's what you into? So how do you protect your piece as a man? Bro, I really don't subscribe to it. You don't pay no mind.
Starting point is 00:55:57 I don't subscribe to that. I'm beyond that. There was a moment in my life where I would not have done this role. There's a moment in my life where I wouldn't i would not have done this role there's a moment in my life where i'm like i'm not but never from an aspect of um homophobia or anything like that from an aspect of my artistry i don't know if i don't know if my well is that deep enough to to be as honest and truthful as great as i need to be in order to tell this story and be well-rounded but you know over time experiences doing, doing things,
Starting point is 00:56:27 and then the questions of asking what type of vessel, what type of artist I want to be, you get the opportunity. And then also you have a creator that will text you as soon as you send a tape in and tell you, I'm going to hold a safe space for you. You know, I got you. Nathalina.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Yes. You know, this is going to be awesome. I got my hands on all yes you know this is going to be awesome i got my hands on all of this this is this is going to be a beautiful thing and i'm grateful for you to take a chance on this and for me again it's deep in my well of empathy i i just see the world differently bro and i have no judgment as an actor yeah you can't really have to be able to tell the truth and tell that character story you can't really judge it you just have to look at what they're what they're going through and say damn that's where he is you know the thing is like what he said is you look at actors before your time they didn't have to deal with the social
Starting point is 00:57:15 media no right but now you every day like even somebody didn't like your character or let's say you did a bad job it was one day and gone but now you got social media every single day everybody's a critic everybody feels like they could do a better job or they did it or they can tell you what to do so that's where the mental comes in so to make sure that that doesn't affect you is the thing because you want to do the character you don't want to be thinking about what are they gonna say you just want to do a great character both of you and we just understood acting back then I remember having a conversation with Megan Good once and
Starting point is 00:57:41 Megan Good was saying how she has to be conscious of the role she plays, because nowadays, people think that's actually you. Yeah. Very true. I'm like, huh? That's very true. No, I'm completely different from Emmett. Like, I have no kids.
Starting point is 00:57:53 I don't deal with no mama drama. You know what I mean? Nick, be calm. Yeah. I'm simple. I'm hard. Well, I mean. Pull out production.
Starting point is 00:58:03 I mean, but it's like, you it's it's definitely that though and i've been learning that on this show like man people really approach us in that way as if they know us because we live in their their their homes with this show and um it's crazy it's crazy i mean you do it so well that part of that gotta be true yeah but people don't understand about acting the beautiful therapeutic point of it and the fun of it is the transformation. Taking or seeing a role, not seeing yourself in it and seeing someone else in it and seeing the challenge of understanding who this human being is. That is probably far from who you are, your experiences or everything. The way you think of the world, you know, I think it helps.
Starting point is 00:58:47 It helps the part. And when you take the challenge of accepting it yeah it's two sides that like you said like it you did such a good job but it'll be like oh my god is that really who he is and then you as a critic because I was a critic even when I was younger I couldn't stand Laurence Fishburne after watching watching what's love Got To Do With It. I didn't until I seen him in Matrix. He played it well. He went crazy. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Sometimes people just do their jobs so good. You be like, oh my God.
Starting point is 00:59:11 And as an audience member, you gotta, we gotta give the audience grace. We understand what it's like to be in the audience and watching, you know, some of our favorite classics. I believed it.
Starting point is 00:59:19 You know what I mean? Yeah. I believe it so much. But not like the social media people. I mean, just, I didn't want him to be beaten on Angela Bannon. Something like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:27 That's just what it was. All right, we got more with Luke James and Jacob Lattimore. When we come back, don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. We are The Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Luke James and Jacob Lattimore from The Chi.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Charlamagne? There's been a lot of people who have come and gone on The Chi. Like, which character or actor do y'all wish was still on the show yeah i mean i miss them all man you could controversial i miss them all man i miss them all but i miss everybody yeah i'm gonna lie i'm a fan i'm a i was a fan of the show before i even got on it because this is my bro yeah yeah you know um so our second project together yeah yeah second you feel me um i miss everybody because everybody really did their thing yeah for me as a fan watching the show i wasn't i was just enamored by everybody's position in in
Starting point is 01:00:11 the show and and so when i came to the show when people weren't there that was a shock for me but that you know that's the business it is what it is and we move we move forward. Fully support the brothers, man. Yeah. Always. Well, I miss Jason Mitchell's character. 100%. He was killing that role. 100%. New Orleans. Definitely. All love to my brother.
Starting point is 01:00:34 I try to stay in touch with him and give him a lot of love. Always. Man, we love you, brother. For real. Man, Jason is a fine, brilliant actor. Yeah, he is. You know what I mean? And only time will tell.
Starting point is 01:00:45 You feel me? We all make mistakes and whatnot, and that's why we got to give each other grace, and that's why we talk about it. That's right. You know what I mean? Yeah. Has there been any talk about bringing back any of those characters?
Starting point is 01:00:56 Just in case this is the end. Well, that's above our power. You know what I mean? We here, we employees of the shot. You know what I mean? So it's a, there's... I'm moving to the producer realm if I... I mean, it might be we employees of the shot. You know what I mean? So it's, there's. I'm moving to the producer realm if I,
Starting point is 01:01:07 I mean, it might be too late, but I don't know. That's above our pay grade. Yeah. Luke, has acting surpassed your love for music?
Starting point is 01:01:15 No. No? You came in here singing. You ain't him? I didn't hear him. I know. Yeah, I just want to know.
Starting point is 01:01:20 There's no way. He is in his acting bag. Thank you. Yeah. Okay. Them was crazy. What? That's what I want to bring up, but you know, I'm focused on the show. I know, I know, to know when he is in his acting bag. Thank you. Yeah. Okay. Them was crazy. What? That's what I want to bring up.
Starting point is 01:01:28 But you know, I'm focused on the show. No, no, no, no, no, no. Break it and bring it. He having a great year. He having a great year. Yeah. No, music got me here. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:35 Music, new edition, all of that. That's my bridge. Yeah. And also it's my meditation. It's my, it's, it's, it's my prayer. I can't not do music. You know um every other month i always say johnny gill hits me up just to make sure i'm still recording still nurturing that gift because that helped me get here and help me understand everything i can't not not have it and now i just can't not have both because financially with with this with this new medium has done for
Starting point is 01:02:07 me not just you know personally as a human being and as an artist stretching and whatnot but financially it's just put me in a better space where I could have a family and I can make music how I want to make music absolutely I can provide you know what I mean and I'm grateful I'm I'm truly blessed and I do I do not take it for granted I'm really I really I mean we're doing
Starting point is 01:02:28 exactly what we love absolutely every day putting out music when we want to is like it's incredible especially when you
Starting point is 01:02:35 gotta you step in music a few times what's up with you with music I dropped an EP like five months ago called Closure
Starting point is 01:02:42 I'm real proud of and then I have dropped the Connection Series album so I haven't really dropped a big body of work in a while but I told myself I'm like every year to drop something yeah you know what I mean I think that's important because there are music fans that want to hear it but you know it takes time and you got your own fans and your own brand and it doesn't have to look like everybody else you know and for me that goes into like the Prince realm
Starting point is 01:03:07 and to all those artists who found their people and then their people stay with them whenever they put music out, like Maxwell, like D'Angelo, like Frank Ocean, like anybody, they got their people and they're able to do other things and then dibble-dabble back into music when they do and they got that core fan base that will always be there.
Starting point is 01:03:26 Show up. Why close it? Sound like you broke up with somebody very harshly. Hey, I did. Dang. I did. Man, you know he's soft, man. Just stay close.
Starting point is 01:03:34 He be crying about things. I think, matter of fact, I think the first time I came to the Breakfast Club, I was getting out of it. I'm a relationship person. I love it. I love it. I love it, man. You don't need to hear that on an album. Hey, I had to put it out there.
Starting point is 01:03:45 He had to do it. Where else he going to put it it's... You don't need to hear that on an album. Hey, I had to put it out there. He had to do it. Where else he gonna put it? Where am I gonna do it? That's his diary. I actually put it out during the strike because it was just time. I think the show consumes our schedules like crazy. So I was like, you know what? It's actually time to just put Jacob out there versus Emmett.
Starting point is 01:04:03 You know what I mean? And yeah, put that out there for one time. How does she about that i don't know i don't know man you don't care i wish i wish i loved though you know it's all love are you the problem in the relationship i wouldn't say i'm the problem i wouldn't say i'm the problem i'm the problem i just you know it's just timing timing is everything you know and um i'm i'm happy where i'm at you know i'm still learning i'm still learning i'm enjoying my singleness and and dating i was gonna say are you at least dating yeah you know it's cool it's different you know like actually planning dates and going out hey let's meet up for dinner let's talk you know let's get to know one another that's
Starting point is 01:04:40 how can y'all even trust women at this point man Man, it's tough. How do you know people want y'all for y'all and not Jacob and Luke? I talk with God every day. Just give me that discernment. Give me that discernment to just know who is this? Who is this? Yeah. I got to get to it. And I got to really get in that girl business, too.
Starting point is 01:04:57 What you do for a living? Yeah. You know what I mean? Not that I'm not a 50-50 guy, but I need to know what you're doing. I got a lot going on. I got to know that you got a lot going on. I got to know that you got a lot going on, too, and you got some aspirations
Starting point is 01:05:07 and things and goals, things that'll hold you accountable to your actions and whatnot, and that you see that I'm moving forward, and you want to move forward in your realm.
Starting point is 01:05:17 If we can keep that in harmony, in peace and love, we'd be all right. So they have to be in the industry? No. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 01:05:23 No. Yeah, I don't know if I want to do the industry again. But, Jackie, you said't know if I want to do the industry again but Jake you said you'll never date a woman from the industry again I wouldn't say that
Starting point is 01:05:28 I just you know it was just it's tough it's tough I think I mean you still love her still love her don't you
Starting point is 01:05:33 absolutely yeah yeah yeah oh yeah it'll never go away whenever a man looks in the air when he's talking about an old relationship
Starting point is 01:05:38 yeah he sees somebody he sees my Pacific face there's a there's a thing distant lover absolutely that's what happened right there in his head Jake don't face He's a specific face. There's a thing. Absolutely. That's what happened right there in his head.
Starting point is 01:05:49 Jake, don't pay attention, please. No, it's all love. No, I do. I do. And there's nothing wrong with seeing that. I watched Kingdom Business last night.
Starting point is 01:05:56 You watched Kingdom Business last night? I did. I wonder if she's going to watch this. Did you hit her up and tell her she did a good job? No, I didn't.
Starting point is 01:06:01 I didn't do all that. But, you know, she knows she's killing it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I wonder if she knows. She knows she killing it. She knows she killing it. Jesus.
Starting point is 01:06:09 She knows she killing it. I gotta tell her all that. Yeah, it's all love. It's all love. I wonder if she knows. Why are you playing? I hope she's happy. Just watch the show.

Starting point is 01:07:28 Your news is real, brother. Your news is real. Jessica Robin Moore. Jess don't do no lying. Don't do no lying. She don't spare nobody. Worldwide Jess. Worldwide Mess.
Starting point is 01:07:41 On the Breakfast Club. She's a culture shift. She was able to get y'all to see something and understand something that nobody could get you to see it's time to set it on i don't know why people always bother my girl but anyway cardi responds to met gala backlash so cardi b is facing backlash from a video that was circulating from the met gala social media users are upset because she didn't properly credit the designer of her dress. So y'all, this is Questlove
Starting point is 01:08:08 and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids
Starting point is 01:08:23 starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey y'all, Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know?
Starting point is 01:09:13 I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was called a woman. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, I'm Marie. And I'm Sydney. And we're Mess.
Starting point is 01:09:42 Well, not a mess, but on our podcast called Mess, we celebrate all things messy. But the gag is not everything is a mess. Sometimes it's just living. Yeah, things like J-Lo on her third divorce. Living. Girls trip to Miami. Mess. Ozempic.
Starting point is 01:09:59 Messy, skinny living. Restaurant stealing a birthday cake. Mess. Wait, what flavor was the cake, though? Okay, that's a good question. Hooking up with someone in accounting and then getting a promotion. Living. Breaking up with your girlfriend while on Instagram Live.
Starting point is 01:10:15 Living. It's kind of mess. Yeah. Well, you get it. Got it? Live, love, mess. Listen to Mess with Sydney Washington and Marie Faustin on iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Prandenti.
Starting point is 01:10:35 And I'm Jimei Jackson-Gadsden.
Starting point is 01:10:56 I mean, how much do I save? And what about my 401k? Well, we're talking with finance expert Vivian Tu, aka Your Rich BFF, to break it all down.
Starting point is 01:11:22 Listen to this week's episode of Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Who made this? I feel amazing. It's this amazing designer. They're Asian and everything, so yeah. She forgot the person's name.
Starting point is 01:11:41 Yeah, she just couldn't remember. Oh, it might have been hard to pronounce. Yeah, so exactly. But a representative from U. Oh, it might have been hard to pronounce. Yeah, so, exactly. But a representative from U.S. Bull commented on a clip saying, for the record and recognition and no thanks to Cardi B, the designer of her gown is Sin Sin Lee, who's Chinese. The gown took two months to make. I personally think it's boring and not even on theme,
Starting point is 01:12:01 but she chose it and should have at least remembered his name and not just that he's Asian. First of all, that was way worse than what Cardi B said. Way worse. What she just did. Like, are you stupid? That was way, you just defecated on the man. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:15 Or woman. I don't know. It's since and late. Yes, since and late. So we don't know, but this person was a clown for doing all that. His comments started to gain traction online, so Cardi felt the need to explain herself. and first when i was on the carpet i was very scared because the dress um was supposed to be like on a little podium and i and i've been
Starting point is 01:12:36 practicing how to pose on the podium but at the carpet i wasn't allowed to use the podium so i had a lot of things on my mind and i was being rushed to the front of the line so when i was getting interview i kind of forgot to pronounce the designer's name because his name is a little bit complicated so i was like damn how to pronounce his name like i was my mind was just racing see when you come from a certain environment you can hear somebody and know when they are having trouble pronouncing the name. As soon as I heard what she said, I knew. She either forgot the person's name or didn't know how to properly pronounce it.
Starting point is 01:13:11 Happens all the damn time. Well, even before that, they asked, you know, who was the designer? And she was like, I feel so amazing. She didn't answer because she was trying to think of the name. She was trying to think of the name. It happens all the time. That's right. But the fact that the Vogue representative isht on the dress, like,
Starting point is 01:13:25 that was worse. I would feel like Harbaugh as the designer, like, okay, so my name wasn't said and you hated the dress? You know?
Starting point is 01:13:34 Matter of fact, I don't want you to say my name if you don't like the dress. Clowned out, but I totally feel for her and she was nervous, like she said, so it is what it is.
Starting point is 01:13:42 Salute the body. Yes, yes. Another rap beef might be coming. Gunna is set to drop an album on Friday. It's called One of One. Gunna and his fans are looking forward to the album drop, but Future cut his momentum short by announcing that he's dropping a mixtape on Friday as well. Future tweeted,
Starting point is 01:14:01 F your album. This ish ain't slapping my mixtape. And Gunna later tweeted, F what these boys talking about. So right now, the shots that are allegedly taken, that they're allegedly taking at each other are subliminals. But we'll see where this goes. Why is it so spicy and rap right now? I have no idea. Just to come out and be like, F your album.
Starting point is 01:14:19 This ish ain't, you know. But it's speculation that Future and Gunna no longer get along with each other because of the rumors that Gunna was snitching on Thug or whatever. That has been ironed out and they're both cool. I'm here for a Gunna album and I'm definitely here for a Future
Starting point is 01:14:37 mixtape. There's not too many artists who got the mixtape catalog that Future does. So yes, I'm here for all the music on Friday. Yeah. Okay. got the mixtape catalog that future does so yes i'm here for all the music on friday yeah yeah okay um oh dj vlad apologizes to princeton professor so early this week i reported on uh vlad getting into a back and forth with a professor at princeton who told him his opinion and the drake and kendrick beef wasn't welcome because he's white during the back and forth he threatened to file a complaint about her um racism to princeton and even tagged them in some of his tweets uh social media was
Starting point is 01:15:10 real mad at him for using his white privilege to risk a black woman's employment and i guess the reactions got to him so we shared a post to apologize and it said after considerable reflection i would like to apologize to morgan jer Jerkins for tagging her job in my replies during our Twitter exchange last weekend. He felt the need to apologize. That's his prerogative. Yeah. Nothing wrong with that. You know, you can never be too big to apologize. So, I think
Starting point is 01:15:36 that's dope that he did that. You should never, never mind. Never what? Nothing. Say it. He's about to turn it gay. No, I was not. Don't worry about it I'll tell y'all after the show it was a terrible joke it would have been
Starting point is 01:15:47 a terrible callback horrible it would have been really bad but it was right there it would have I'm glad you caught it it was right there
Starting point is 01:15:55 but when I tell you out when the mice close it's so funny just remember what you said you said you can never be too big to apologize I'll tell you after the after the break
Starting point is 01:16:04 now donkey of the day is next right yes donkey of the day is next alright yes and we are Remember what you said. You said you can never be too big to apologize. I'll tell you after the break. Now, Donkey of the Day is next, right? Yes, Donkey of the Day is up next. All right. It's going to Governor Kathy Hochul. Hochul. Governor Kathy Hochul. She needs to come to the front of the congregation.
Starting point is 01:16:16 We'd like to have a word with her. All right. And then after that, Jess Fix My Mess. So if you need relationship advice or any type of advice, you can call Jess right now. 800-585-1051. Donkey of the Day is up next. You're checking out The Breakfast Club. Don't be out here acting like a donkey.
Starting point is 01:16:33 Hee-haw, bitch. Hee-haw. It's time for Donkey of the Day. I'm a big boy. I can take it if you feel I deserve it. Ain't no big deal. Don't show them any guy going to have some funny shit. I'm going to say something you may not agree with.
Starting point is 01:16:44 Doesn't mean I mean it. Who's getting that donkey? That donkey. That donkey. Donkey. Donkey. Donkey of the day right there. It's a breakfast club, bitches.
Starting point is 01:16:54 You can call me the donkey of the day, but like, I mean no harm. Every time I hear Pipsqueak, all I think about is, not Pipsqueak, what was the name of that song? Not Like Us. Every time I hear Not Like Us,
Starting point is 01:17:02 all I think about is, Kendrick really didn't take kindly to the short jokes. He really did not take kindly to being called pipsqueak. Lord have mercy. Donkey of the day for Thursday May 9th goes to New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Okay, Kathy, Kathy, Kathy. Kathy is a Democrat who was being interviewed at a large business conference in California to discuss expanding economic opportunities and artificial intelligence for low-income communities. And she had this to say about young black kids growing up in the Bronx. Let's listen. Governor Kathy Hochul faces criticism for a controversial remark that she made during a
Starting point is 01:17:35 business conference. She was highlighting the importance of expanding access to technology and artificial intelligence for low-income families during an onstage interview. Well, the comment she made immediately drew criticism from local political leaders. Listen. Right now we have, you know, young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don't even know what the word computer is. They don't know. They don't know these things. Well, Hochul issuing a statement now walking back on her words saying, I misspoke. I regret it. Of course, black children in the Bronx know what computers are. The problem is that they, too, often lack access to the technology needed to get on track to high paying jobs in emerging industries like AI. That was PIX11, too.
Starting point is 01:18:20 That was our news. So salute to PIX11. Now, what does your uncle Charlotte tell you at least twice a week? I tell you that the craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. Now, kids in the Bronx are crazy, but they're not stupid. Okay, there's a difference between stupid and crazy. Stupid is not knowing what the word computer is. Crazy is Cardi B.
Starting point is 01:18:40 But Cardi B is far from stupid stupid but she's crazy so it is an insult to the intelligence that exists in the bronx to say that those kids who come from low-income areas don't know what the word computer is okay damn kathy kathy she said these kids don't know the word computer she's she didn't say they don't know how to use computers they don't have access to computers she said they don't even know what the word computer is you do realize if they don't know the word computer that is your fault it is a failure of elected officials it is a failure of the system all through new york city because are these schools in low income areas getting proper funding are you investing in these kids education the way you should are the schools up to par are teachers
Starting point is 01:19:20 being compensated properly are these kids eating You know hunger can affect learning, right? When children are hungry, they typically have less energy and the ability to focus. So, Governor Hochul, are you doing everything you can to ensure these kids are getting everything they need to be properly educated? How dare you insult these kids by saying they don't even know the word computer. And if they don't know the word it's the system's fault Furthermore how dare you insult these kids in the Bronx and say they don't know the word computer They have known the word computers since Rowdy rebel dropped that song in 2015 listen Holy social networks and these computers white got these nice walk around like they some sugar
Starting point is 01:20:05 See them in real life. They these niggas walking around like they some shooters. See them in real life, they're trying to bust Manovas. Talk that same shit for your computer. That's three times in the hook. The word computer is mentioned no less than 72 times in that record. And the name of the song is Computers.
Starting point is 01:20:21 Prior to that, if you're born in the 1900s like I am, then you know in 2004 cameron told us that he gets computers putin listen governor i get computers putin governor hokal i bet you didn't know the word putin okay if you hear the word putin you think uh putin and and i'm not talking farts of vladimir okay i'm talking what cameron gets computers doing now governor hochul said she misspoke and I believe her. OK, she cleaned it up and said what she should have said in the beginning, which is the problem is that they too often lack access to the technology needed to get on track to high paying jobs in emerging industries like AI. That's why I've been focused on increasing economic opportunities since day one of my administration and will continue that fight to ensure every New Yorker has a shot at a good paying job, end quote. Well, with all the money
Starting point is 01:21:09 that New York is paying taxes, that shouldn't be hard. And this is why so many of us have a problem with taxes. Yes, we pay them. But I need to know that my money is going where it actually needs to go. I did some research. And by research, I mean Google on a computer. And we know that funding for public schools in New York City comes from incoming corporate taxes, property taxes and sales taxes. Fifty three percent comes from New York City. Twenty one billion dollars. Thirty six percent comes from the New York state. Fourteen billion. Six percent comes from federal stimulus funding. Two billion. Five percent comes from other federal funding. Two point one billion. Governor Hochul, now is the time to remember that actions speak louder than words. OK, especially words like computer.
Starting point is 01:21:48 Thirty nine point one billion in taxpayer dollars. If you can't create no action with that type of money, there is no action to be created. OK, if you can't provide these kids with everything they need and more to be productive citizens, it is your fault. The money is there. Now make the proper investments. Please give Governor Kathy hoku the biggest he all but people do misspeak all the time yes okay i mean we do it too oh do we we have examples i would just have to go all the way out with it don't pass it to me just kiss me and spit it in my mouth. Oh, what? Where was your ass?
Starting point is 01:22:26 This is not going to be a blooper reel of me. But where was your ass? I was... You're like, what? I don't know why you said that. We were talking about Young Thug and this is when the guy
Starting point is 01:22:38 tried to pass Young Thug. Oh, my God. Why would you even... Forget it. Don't even worry about it. What? I like Lil D. Oh, my goodness. I wasn't talking about
Starting point is 01:22:48 Lil D as Lil D forget it yeah anymore why do you want more of that do you need more I'm just asking I think you had enough
Starting point is 01:22:58 you little freaky ass he just tricked some nine guys you you've had enough okay oh my god you know what forget your donkey alright up next is God, you've had enough. Oh, my God. You know what? Forget your donkey, all right?
Starting point is 01:23:08 Up next is Jess Fix My Mess, 800-585-1051. If you need relationship advice or any type of advice, call Jess right now. Now, all the things that Charlamagne say, y'all ain't play none of his stuff, right? None of his bloopers, huh? All the stuff that Jess say, and you don't play none of her bloopers. It's just me? First of all, I don't misspeak. I'm just stupid.
Starting point is 01:23:26 Yes. There was a worm that crawled into my brain and ate a portion of it a long time ago. We know. We know.
Starting point is 01:23:33 All right. Jess with the message. But Jess fixed my message up next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:23:38 The Breakfast Club. Baby. It's the real deal. Help me. Help me. Oh my God. I'm all up in your mess. I'm going to fix deal. Help me. Help me. Oh, my God. I'm all up in your mess.
Starting point is 01:23:48 I'm going to fix it. Fix it. Fix my mess. Fix it. Fix it. Jess going to fix your mess because my advice is real. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha God.
Starting point is 01:23:58 We are The Breakfast Club. It's time for Jess Fix My Mess. Who do we have on the line? KK. Hey, KK Hey KK Where you calling from? I am calling from North Carolina Alright
Starting point is 01:24:09 What's your question for Jess? Okay Jess I love you Jess girl What's up girl? Okay so my My question is Or my thing is I've been married for almost a decade
Starting point is 01:24:19 And I'm American My husband is Jamaican And one thing I have an issue with that I need your advice with, I was raised with nothing but brothers. I'm a baby of four boys. And I'm like, I'm tough. I'm like really like tough
Starting point is 01:24:37 and I just don't like tolerate a lot of stuff. You know what I'm saying? I wasn't raised with girls where, you know, want to sit there, look cute, and, you know, be all up in makeup. I was, you know, let's play some football, basketball football basketball you know what i'm saying so my husband always say why you always acting like a nice bro why you always like and i'm just like i'm not going to tolerate you talking to me crazy and it's just like how do you just like really just shut up like sometimes
Starting point is 01:25:01 because it's like i feel like everything's showing my face. If you talking crazy, my eyes start blinking and switching. Like, who you talking to, you know? Yeah. And it's like, it's hard to just, like, sit back and put that s*** aside, put up on the couch, you know what I'm saying, on the counter, and just be quiet. You know, even his mom would be like, hey, like, you know, he didn't mean it that way.
Starting point is 01:25:21 No, ma. He didn't mean it that way. He didn't mean it that way. And I'm just like, oh, he just called me a f***ing hoe. Like, you know what I'm saying? I was like, he meant that. Like, I know, he didn't mean it that way. No, ma'am. He didn't mean it that way. He didn't mean it that way. And I'm just like, oh, he just called me a f***ing hoe. Like, you know what I'm saying? I was like, he meant that. Like, I'm like. So, are you, how old are you?
Starting point is 01:25:31 I'm 35. 35, okay. So, look, I was like that. I grew up around my big brother and his friends. Like, all his friends. You know, before my little sister got here. Like, I was raised, I have way more boy cousins than, you know, girl cousins. And then I grew up with a
Starting point is 01:25:46 lot of homeboys or whatever like that so i was always considered a tom girl in my childhood era but um it honestly takes a certain person to unlock your soft side your soft girl side honestly it wasn't too many men that i've dated that unlocked that either like i was really girl fighting dudes and everything like really yeah yeah like trying to be the dominant one not even trying to be just because i'm such an alpha so it's just like i was always like that as well um you've been married for this man for 10 years you know for 10 years yes and you don't feel like he brings out the soft girl in you yet? I think there's a lot of cultural differences.
Starting point is 01:26:30 You know, Jamaicans are very, like, strong-minded. They say what they want to say. They don't feel that disrespect. And I think it's just, like, what they can say. Oh, okay. So, yeah, you did say he was Jamaican. For me, I'm like, hold hold up we in america yeah damn respectful you know so it's just it's just a toughness but i know we you know it's just his culture but me
Starting point is 01:26:54 i'm just like i i grew up i grew up a boy it's like hard for me to i'm trying to and even when i shut up i'm fighting my list and i'm all right well he well he got it got to be some type of compromise because i do understand I have Jamaican friends. And yeah, they are kind of like they're like you. Like, you know, but you just ain't Jamaican. But he has to calm down and you have to calm down, too. You know what I'm saying? Because I know you probably always on a defense when he makes points or whatever, just because of how Jamaicans are known to be.
Starting point is 01:27:25 But yeah, I forgot. That was, yeah, there's definitely cultural differences there. But that's probably why you always don't go on, like, willing to go from zero to 100 because you feel like you're being talked down to or you feel like somebody trying to play with you, you feel attacked a lot, stuff like that.
Starting point is 01:27:40 Because I'm not dating a Jamaican. So, yeah, but I'm very much, I was very much like that. But like I said, it takes a certain person to unlock yourself, girl. You know what I'm saying? But yeah, it has to be compromised on both ends. I mean, I'm not trying to change who he is. But at the same time, uh-uh. Because it's never going to go over smooth.
Starting point is 01:27:59 And I respect that. Yeah, you got to talk to him. You got to tell him. Like, if you calm down, I'm going calm down. I'ma give you what you give me. Yeah, cause I tell him all the time, what you want your mama? I ain't your mama. Your mama is just with the daddy. I can't push. Damn,
Starting point is 01:28:14 how in the hell was y'all married for 10 years? That's, that's two choices in the household. Well, I'ma pray for y'all, but y'all need to talk about that. Like, y'all need to be willing to compromise. No problem, babe. All right.
Starting point is 01:28:31 Just Fix My Mess, 800-585-1051. If you need relationship advice or any type of advice, you can call Jess right now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. X about me. Relationship problems. X about me. You need to beat your co-worker's ass.
Starting point is 01:28:42 X about me. Your co-worker need to beat your ass. Call it up. Thank Dr. Jess, and I'm here to fix your co-worker's ass, ask about me. If your co-worker need to beat your ass, call it up. It's Dr. Jess, and I'm here to fix your mess. It's getting very much messy. Let me fix it. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. It's time for Jess Fix My Mess.
Starting point is 01:28:59 Hello, who's this? This is Alex. Hey, what's up, bro? What's your question for Jess? Listen, I got a good question, man. Good morning to everybody. Good morning. I've been dating my girl for about nine months, and I recently just found a hidden camera in the room.
Starting point is 01:29:10 How should I go about it? Wow. You've been dating your girl for nine months, and you found a hidden camera in the room recently. Have you talked to her about it, or you haven't? You just talking to me. I'm just talking to you first about it. I want to know how to deliver it to her.
Starting point is 01:29:26 I don't think it's, I honestly feel like, however you, however you deliver it to her is, is valid to me because we've been, y'all live together? Correct. Okay. How long y'all been living together? For the nine months. Y'all got together for nine months and then y'all just moved straight in? Oh, I'm sorry. We lived, we've been together for about a year okay and three months into it i moved
Starting point is 01:29:49 in okay you moved okay okay okay jesus does she have children so yes originally i thought the camera was for the kids because there's an open one in the living room but there's a hidden one in our room and then she did not bring to your attention at all didn't even try to both both of them i would have just felt more comfortable if she said hey there's cameras here this is how i feel safe well now that changes i'm cool with that yeah it changes a little bit all right so i wouldn't because like what did she got like a freaky freaky side because i know you don't have sex in the room so maybe like she'd be watching back the tape like she's too shy she's too shy oh yeah no all right well i don't know you have to i think you sit down and you talk to her and be like listen so i noticed that there's a hidden camera in our bedroom and the fact that you didn't bring it to me you didn't run it past
Starting point is 01:30:39 me you know what i mean and i and the fact that i had to find it that's a little alarming and it it messes with the trust. You know what I'm saying? Like, we've been living together for nine months. I don't want to feel like I can't trust you. Like, are you watching me? Are you waiting for me to slip up? Like, what's up with this?
Starting point is 01:30:54 You understand what I'm saying? She can only be honest with that. Yeah, open and honest. I guess give her the platform to, you know, let it out. Truth will set you free. Yeah, truth will definitely set you free. But I think you should definitely put your foot down. Like, don't, don't, like, you know, don't,
Starting point is 01:31:10 you don't got to back her into a corner, but tell her how you feel about it. Like, I feel betrayed. Like, I feel this is messing with the trust because I had to find a hit. What's up, y'all? This is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on
Starting point is 01:31:22 with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Niminy here.
Starting point is 01:31:48 I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Starting point is 01:32:34 Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, I'm Marie. And I'm Sydney. And we're Mess. Well, not a mess, but on our podcast called Mess, we celebrate all things messy. But the gag is, not everything is a mess.
Starting point is 01:33:01 Sometimes it's just living. Yeah, things like J-Lo on her third divorce. Living. Girls trip to Miami. Mess. Ozempic. Messy, skinny living. Restaurant stealing a birthday cake.
Starting point is 01:33:15 Mess. Wait, what flavor was the cake though? Okay, that's a good question. Hooking up with someone in accounting and then getting a promotion. Living. Breaking up with your girlfriend while on Instagram Live. Living. It's kind of mess.
Starting point is 01:33:30 Well, you get it. Got it? Live, love, mess. Listen to Mess with Sydney Washington and Marie Faustin on iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pardenti. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline,
Starting point is 01:33:49 the early career podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. One of the most exciting things about having your first real job is that first real paycheck. You're probably thinking, yay, I can finally buy a new phone. But you also have a lot of questions like, how should I be investing this money? I mean, how much do I save? And what about my 401k? Well, we're talking with finance expert Vivian Tu, aka Your Rich BFF, to break it all down.
Starting point is 01:34:16 I always get roasted on the internet when I say this out loud, but I'm like, every single year you need to be asking for a raise of somewhere between 10 to 15 percent. I'm not saying you're going to get 15 percent every single year, but if to be asking for a raise of somewhere between 10 to 15%. And camera and the privacy of our room like and I didn't know it was there and if
Starting point is 01:34:48 I didn't find it how long would it have taken for you to say something right with me being so cool about it especially like yo if it's about your safety security I'm all for it but no don't even give it I tell you that don't give her that as an option just let her tell you that if that's what it is because a lot
Starting point is 01:35:04 of times when you give people ways out, they take them. So just let her tell you that. But tell her that it for sure hurts you and it damages trust. Big facts. Should I have asked her to access to the camera
Starting point is 01:35:16 or just let her be with it? I want access to the camera if I'm living here and I imagine you're paying bills. You're paying bills. Oh, I pay the mortgage. Yeah. Yeah, I should have access to everything in this damn house. Yes, I want you paying bills. You paying bills? Oh, I pay a mortgage. Yeah. Yeah, I should have access
Starting point is 01:35:26 to everything in this damn house. Yes. I want access to it. For sure. I don't want her to take them down because, I mean, it's a valid point for safety and security. I'm a cop.
Starting point is 01:35:35 I know that. You know, I know it. Right. But definitely get that. Make sure that is the reason. Let her tell you that. And then, yeah, you ask for access to it.
Starting point is 01:35:44 Absolutely. Because you want to feel safe too. True right yeah big touch thank you for the advice yo that's exactly what i needed no problem boo good luck i'll listen to you again tomorrow and forever on yes forever on i like that thank you thank you bro all right just fixed my mess 800-585-1051 now when we come back we got just with the mess. What are we talking about? God damn. She got a mouth full of food. Oh.
Starting point is 01:36:10 Little big back. Yeah. Hold on. Javonte Davis said that he is richer at 29 than Mayweather was at 29. All right. We'll talk about that when we come back. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:36:23 News is real, brother. It's the Lions. Jessica Robin Moore. Jess don real, brother. I ain't Jessica Robin Moore. Jets don't do no lying. She don't spare nobody. Worldwide Jets. Worldwide Madness. On the Breakfast Club. She's a culture shift. She was able to get y'all to see something and understand something that nobody could get you to see. It's time to set it on.
Starting point is 01:36:46 Javante Davis claims his current deal makes him richer than Floyd Mayweather when he was his age. So he's getting ready for his fight against Frank Martin, and this will be his first fight since he defeated Ron Garcia. That fight was the highest grossing boxing event, 2023, which helped make Javante one of the major faces of boxing. Congratulations to my Baltimore brother. boxing event 2023 which helped make giovante one of the major faces of boxing congratulations to my baltimore brother uh during an interview with cigar talk giovante claimed that the new deal that
Starting point is 01:37:10 he signed makes him richer than makes him richer at the age of 29 than floyd mayweather was at the age of 29 that's what he said floyd don't know he felt as though i'm about to i'm at that point where i thought i passed him and i and I'm doing it at a young age. When Floyd was 29, you'll see, bro. That deal that I'm talking about. Yeah, that's a part of it. He don't know about that yet. But that's bigger than his deal.
Starting point is 01:37:36 Damn. And I'm just releasing it. That's exclusive. That's exclusive. Bigger than Floyd's deal? Yeah. Take no cap. That's a lot of bread.
Starting point is 01:37:43 You'll see. It's going to come out. Yeah, I remember that. That's when lot of bread. You'll see. It's going to come out. Yeah, I remember that. That's what Floyd made. He did his deal. It was a six-fight deal with Showtime. They said that was worth like $200 million. Yeah, go ahead.
Starting point is 01:37:53 Do it. Go ahead. Oh, I didn't know. Yeah, so back in 2013, Floyd signed a deal that was worth $200 million. Yep. And then Javante's current deal was reportedly worth 250 250 million and it's a six seven six seven fight deal or whatever but but is this how it should be like when michael jordan was playing in the league lebron james made more than mike at the same year because
