but in a way that informs and empowers all people.

2017, was assassinated. Crooks everywhere unearthed the plot to murder a one-woman WikiLeaks.
She exposed the culture of crime and corruption

Hi, I'm Marie.
And I'm Sydney. And I'm Sydney.
And we're Mess.
Well, not a mess, but on our podcast called Mess, we celebrate all things messy.
But the gag is, not everything is a mess.
Sometimes it's just living.
Yeah, things like J-Lo on her third divorce.
Living.
Girls' trip to Miami.
Mess.
Breaking up with your girlfriend while on Instagram Live.
Living.
It's kind of mess.
Yeah.
Well, you get it.
Got it?
Live, love, mess.

Hey, y'all.
Niminy here.
I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records.
Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and John Glickman,
Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop.
Each episode is about a different, inspiring figure from history.
Like this one about Claudette Colvin,
a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing.
Check it.
Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records,
because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to historical records on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hear that?
That's the sound of your life.
Perfectly imperfect.
Beating in rhythm to the world you've created.
But every time you drive after drinking,
the music gets drowned out.
Your life sounds pretty great.
Don't let a buzz ruin it.
Buzz driving is drunk driving.
Don't drive buzzed.
A message from Nitson and the work week. Good morning. What's happening?
How y'all feeling out there?
I am blessed black and highly favored, my brother.
Let me put my goddamn headphones on.
That'd be nice.
What up, Yeezy?
What up, DJ Envy?
How you feeling?
I feel good.
I'm in Chicago.
Okay.
What you doing in the shop?
Happy birthday to my girl, Chella.
She had her birthday party out here.
It was a lot.
It was fun, though.
We had a good time.
G Herbo was there.
Katie Got Bands was there.
Sasha Gohard.
It was a nice event.
Okay.
Happy birthday, Chella.
All right.
Happy birthday, Chella.
And congratulations and shout out, Drop a Bomb, for Chill, one of the owners of Sloppy Chops and Sloppy Crab out in Detroit.
He got married over the weekend.
I actually DJ'd the wedding. I usually don't DJ weddings, but he made a phone call. So it was out in Detroit. He got married over the weekend. I actually DJ'd the wedding.
Now, I usually don't DJ weddings, but he made a phone call.
So it was out in L.A.
So it was a beautiful event.
So congratulations to Chill and his lovely wife, Denthia.
All right, Mr. and Mrs. Klingning.
So congratulations to them.
Had an amazing time out in L.A., beautiful.
And then I flew back for the Fallback and love comedy tour over the weekend.
Friday, they were in D.C.
Saturday, Chicago.
And then Sunday, New York.
That was Jaquese, Trey Songz, Mario.
It was supposed to be August Alsina and Tory Lanez, but they didn't pull up to the Long Island one.
I'm sure you'll break down why a little bit later.
There was an incident here in Chicago with them.
Yeah, just a little incident. So I'm sure we'll break that down.
But that was my weekend all over the place.
Then, of course, my Giants won over the weekend.
Drop a bomb for the Giants 2-0.
Drop a bomb for them.
Listen, Eddie, you're a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
You are not required to drop any bombs for the New York Giants.
Okay?
All right?
Yes, he is.
As a Dallas Cowboy fan, I reserve your right to not drop a bomb for the New York Giants. Okay? Okay. All right. Yes, he is. And as a Dallas Cowboy fan, I reserve your right to not drop a bomb for the New York Giants.
Okay?
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Salute to everybody, too.
I saw the HBCU Classic over the weekend, man.
I went to the HBCU Classic on Saturday.
Yeah, salute to my guy, Bakari Sellers.
Happy born day to Bakari Sellers.
Yesterday was his born day.
You know, he's a Morehouse man.
So he was at the game on Saturday.
Who won the game?
I mean, Howard wiped their ass with Morehouse.
Oh, okay.
I mean, Jesus Christ.
I mean, it was like 30-something to nothing or something like that.
Goodness gracious.
Yeah.
It was like every time I would look up, especially in the second half,
Howard was scoring something.
But, you know.
All right.
Sweet to Howard and Morehouse. All right. Shout out to all the HBCUs out there. Now, we got some, you know. All right. Scoot to Howard Amor House.
All right.
Shout out to all the HBCUs out there.
Now, we got some special guests joining us this morning.
Ari Lennox will be joining us.
Yes, we do.
She has a new album out called Age, Sex, and Location.
It's been out for about a month now, right?
A couple weeks?
This is her first time on The Breakfast Club.
Ari's never been on Breakfast Club before.
Yes.
And also, the women from Woman King is joining us today.
Of course, that movie was out over the weekend.
Yeah, it did like $19 million, I think I saw.
Yeah, my moms and pops went to go see it on Friday.
They went out there.
They were kind of upset.
Why?
They were saying, my parents are old school.
They were like, you know, when we go to white movies,
we see black people supporting white movies,
but when we go to black movies,
we never see white people coming out to support our movies.
Well, he stops going to
support white movies. That's what he said.
He stopped going to see white movies.
By the way, we shouldn't
even look at it like that, though. A movie should be a movie.
Is it an entertaining plot?
Is it an entertaining concept?
Are there people you want to see in the film?
My parents were like, yes, it was entertaining, it was great,
but they never see anybody outside of our race supporting our movies. people you want to see in the film? My parents were like, yes, it was entertaining. It was great. It was a great movie. But he was like, you know,
they never see anybody outside of our race supporting our movies.
He was kind of upset about that.
A lot of movies that I love that have majority white cast,
I don't look at them as white movies.
I don't look at Goodfellas and say, oh, this is a white movie.
It's just a great movie, you know?
But I get it now.
All right, well, y'all be joining us this morning.
Yes, Viola Davis, the director, Gina.
Price, Blythewood Price Blythewood.
Blythewood.
And I do not want to mess up the other sister's name.
What is it?
It's Tuso Mbuda.
Mbuda?
How do you say it?
Bedu.
That's a shame.
We got Brandon in here.
He's from Ghana and can't pronounce it.
That is a damn shame, Brandon.
He was stuttering for a second.
She was from Ghana.
You don't know how to pronounce it.
Being that she's South African, you don't want to pronounce it, huh?
That's so disrespectful.
All right. Well, let's get the show cracking. Front page
news, what we talking about?
President Joe Biden, he was on CBS's
60 Minutes. I'm going to tell you some of the things
that he had to say regarding
inflation, if he's going to run again, and so on.
All right. We'll get into that next. It's the Breakfast Club.
Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired? Depressed?
A little bit revolutionary?
Consider this.
Start your own country.
I planted the flag.
I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete.
Everybody's doing it.
I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
I am the Queen of Laudonia.
I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg.
I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Be part of a great colonial tradition.
The Waikana tribe owned country.
My forefathers did that themselves.
What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up their territory.
I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
Bullets.
We need help!
We need help!
We still have the off-road portion to go.
Listen to Escape from Zakistan.
And we're losing daylight fast.
That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, guys.
I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts
that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after
a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real,
inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High.
It's where we take the conversation beyond the run
and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun.

As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself and leaning into her dreams.
I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves.
For self-preservation and protection,
it was literally that step by step.
And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going.
This increment of small, determined moments.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself.
It's okay.
Like grace. Have grace with yourself It's okay. Like grace.
Have grace with yourself.
You're trying your best.
And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.
Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before.

Hey there, my little creeps.
It's your favorite ghost host, Teresa. And guess what? your podcast. because we've got a ghoulishly good lineup ready for you. Let's just say things get a bit extra.
We're talking spirits, demons, and the kind of supernatural chaos
that'll make your spooky season complete.
You know how much I love this time of year.
It's the one time I'm actually on trend.
So grab your pumpkin spice, dust off that Ouija board,
just don't call me unless it's urgent,
and tune in for new episodes every week.
Remember, the veils are thin, the stories are spooky,
and your favorite ghost host is back and badder than ever.
Listen to Haunting on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey everybody, it's DJ Envy, Angela Yee,
Charlamagne Tha Guy, we are The Breakfast Club. Let's get
in some front page news.
Now, congratulations to the Vegas
Aces. They beat the Suns 78-71
in WNBA, so congratulations
to them. Dropping the Clues bombs for South
Carolina's own Asia Wilson and the Las Vegas
Aces. WNBA
final champions. That is the first time that
a championship has been brought to Las Vegas,
any major sport.
Okay.
Well, congratulations to them.
And in NFL, the Patriots beat the Steelers 17-14.
The Giants beat the Panthers 2-0.
Jaguars beat the Colts.
Buccaneers beat the Saints.
49ers beat the Seahawks.
Cardinals beat the Raiders.
Cowboys beat the Bengals barely.
Jets beat the Browns. What a comeback. Dolphins beat the Ravens. Lions beat the Seahawks. Cardinals beat the Raiders. Cowboys beat the Bengals barely.
Jets beat the Browns.
What a comeback.
Dolphins beat the Ravens.
Lions beat the Commanders.
Rams beat the Falcons.
Broncos beat the Texans.
And the Packers beat the Bears.
All right, and Monday night football.
There's two games tonight, huh?
Yeah.
All right, the Titans take on the Bills, and the Eagles take on the Vikings. I saw you fix your mouth and say the Cowboys barely beat the Bengals.
How much did they beat the Bengals by, sir? One point,
I believe. No, three points.
How much did the Giants beat the Panthers by, sir?
Same thing. Alright, then shut up.
What? I said barely. Just shut up sometime.
I said barely. You didn't say that about your Giants.
Shut up. A win is a win. We 2-0.
A W? A win is a win? I'm going to see you next Sunday.
We should bet on something.
I wouldn't bet. That's going to be a very low
scoring game, I can tell you that much.
The final score will be like 15 to 12.
Well, we'll see.
As long as the Giants win it.
What else we got, Yeezy?
All right.
Well, Joe Biden was on 60 Minutes, and among the things he talked about,
he says the pandemic is over.
And he did acknowledge the U.S. still has a problem with the virus,
but he said we're still doing a lot of work on it, but the pandemic is over.
In addition to that, he talked about whether or not he's planning to run for president again.
Sir, are you committed to running again, or are there certain conditions that have to be right?
Look, if I were to say to you, I'm running again, all of a sudden,
a whole range of things come into play that I have requirements I have to change and move and do.
In terms of election laws? and the whole range of things come into play that I have requirements I have to change and move and do.
In terms of election laws?
In terms of election laws.
And it's much too early to make that kind of decision.
I am a great respecter of fate.
And so what I'm doing is I'm doing my job and I'm going to do that job.
And within the time frame that makes sense after this next election cycle here,
going into next year, make a judgment on what to do.
I take it the decision has not been made in your own head. My intentions, I said to begin with, is that I would run again,
but it's just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I've run again? That remains to
be seen. That's a very nuanced answer. That's why I don't understand why the headline is,
some of the headlines I saw was Joe Biden says he he's gonna run again in 2024 that that's not what i got from that i got that his intention is to run but he doesn't know yet
all right in addition he talked about inflation and what's going on with the economy
last tuesday the annual inflation rate came in at 8.3 percent what can you do better and faster
inflation rate month to month was just an inch.
Hardly at all.
You're not arguing that 8.3 is good news.
No, I'm not saying it is good news.
It's the highest inflation rate, Mr. President, in 40 years.
I got that.
But guess what we are?
We're in a position where for the last several months it hasn't spiked.
The fact is that we've created 10 million new jobs since we came to office.
We're in a situation where the unemployment rate is about 3.7 percent, one of the lowest in history.
Massive investments being made in computer chips and employment. So this is a process.
He can quote all the numbers he wants, but you can feel it outside.
Okay. The rent is too damn high.
The rent is too high.
All right?
Gas is high.
Food is high.
Things are high.
So you can quote all those numbers you want.
It's bad out here.
Like you said, it's the highest in 40 years.
Mm-hmm.
And you can feel it.
Right.
Well, there's a lot more to that, but that is your Front Page News.
All right.
Get it off your chest.
800-585-1051
if you need to vent. Hit us up
right now. How was your weekend? Let us know. Was it good?
Was it bad? We'll vent right now.
800-585-1051. It's
The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Wake up, wake up.
Wake your ass up.
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Whether you're mad or blessed, we want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.
Hello, who's this?
Hi, this is Charisma.
Hey, Charisma, get it off your chest, mama.
All right, so I was listening to y'all earlier, and I was like, okay, the inflation.
Okay, so in the beginning of March, right, I lost everything to a house fire.
I was in the hospital for a few weeks.
And I got out of the hospital right around the inflation.
So I went from paying $1,400 for a two-bedroom apartment to having to downgrade to a one-bedroom apartment.
And now I'm paying $1,970.
Yeah, it's super high. I paid $2,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, and I got two kids.
Man.
The rent is super high.
The rent is too damn high.
I mean, everything on, for business owners,
if you're trying to find a warehouse,
just everything is just super-duper high,
even interest rates if you're trying to buy a car.
I never seen interest rates that high.
Right, I'm putting them,
going from putting gas in your car like once every three days
to now you're putting it in your car twice,
sometimes twice a day depending on your commute. Horrible.
Yeah, no, it is. We need more
money over here than over there.
I agree with you wholeheartedly.
I'm telling you, man, Tupac
hit it on the head when he said they got money for war, but can't
feed the poor. Hello, who's this?
Renee.
Hey, Renee, good morning. Get it off your chest.
Fast food driver, I mean, these fast
food places like McDonald's and stuff like that, if they got attitudes,
they should not be working in public.
They get mad when you don't give them a cash tip.
And I'm like, you're taking my order at McDonald's.
Come on now.
You want a tip?
The tip is go to school and get a different job.
Oh, wait a minute.
I didn't know fast food workers get tips.
Yeah.
Since when?
I never tipped a fast food worker.
They expect us to.
They said, where's my tip? I said, what do you mean?
The tip is, you know, keep
taking orders.
Boy, you're going to get your chicken
McNuggets spitting. You know what?
That's why I'm going to have to start eating salads
and making them at home. That's right.
I want y'all to have a blessed and medicated
day.
You know, I was wondering the other day,
why don't we tip flight attendants?
They bring you something to drink.
They bring you your nuts or your little cookies.
Why don't we have a tip them?
I don't know.
Maybe they make really great money.
And I mean, the amount that we pay in plane tickets,
you know what I'm saying, keeps them employed.
Because they're walking back and forth all day long. Yeah, but the amount that we paying plane tickets you know what I'm saying keeps them employed. They walking back and forth
all day long. Yeah but
the amount we paying plane tickets they're going to have to take that
service charge out of that. Goodness gracious.
Yeah you're not even allowed to give them
any money and they don't even use cash for anything
now on the flight. No.
Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051
if you need to vent hit us up now
it's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Car show, brother.
I tell everybody, if you give me something to give to somebody,
they're not going to get it because I'm usually working.
I was in the middle of my car show.
Do you remember, though, I gave you one for you, Angela, and Charlemagne?
I do not remember.
He don't remember.
Next time you got to pinch his butt and say, hey, get that to Charlemagne for me.
He'll remember that.
Look, and he said, well, give it to my daughter. and say, hey, get at the Charlemagne for me. He'll remember that. No, look.
And he said, well, give it to my daughter.
There was three books.
I delivered the three books.
You got to remember me.
I put stuff on you.
It's like, I'm going to come at you like Nas.
And I'll say, hey, I got something for you.
Just don't pull the gun on me.
Remember that?
Oh, my God.
That's not going to work, sir.
No, I don't.
Especially in 2020.
What's the name of the book?
What's your name and what's the name of the book?
So people listening might want to take it.
Terry Carmichael, and the name of the book was real.
Excuse my French.
That's the name of the book.
Okay.
No, I don't remember, bro.
You know what?
When I'm doing my car show, people give me a bunch of things,
and I usually give them to my daughter, and my daughter brings them back.
But I haven't seen that book.
So, I mean, if anything, if you want to send something to Yee and Charlamagne,
I would say send it to the station, though.
So how can I send it? We're going to put you to Yee and Charlamagne, I would say send it to the station, though.
So how can I send it?
We're going to put you on hold and give you the address, the mailing address.
All right, cool.
But you better send it soon.
Hold on.
I don't know how much longer we're going to be at this location.
As soon as I get it, it's going out.
Okay.
All right, bro.
I don't know how much longer we're going to be at this location.
You know, people do that all the time.
They give me something, but I'm in the middle of a car show, a party.
I'm not going to remember to bring that stuff back.
Hello, who's this?
Anonymous. Okay. Hey, Anonymous.
Get it off your chest.
Well, I was dating this girl for two years
and then I had a trust fund.
I never told her about it
and she left me
for some guy who was rich at that time.
And
I finally have
access to the trust fund.
Now I'm a million years.
She want to get back.
I told her no.
And I'm so happy that I dodged the bullet.
So, yeah.
How much is your trust fund worth?
I don't believe this story.
I have no reason to lie, Solomon.
Yes, you do.
Why would you lie?
How much is the trust fund worth?
Wait, what'd you say?
How much is it worth?
It's anonymous.
Your trust fund.
You're anonymous.
Three million.
Three million.
Where you calling from?
Anonymous, too.
I know a lot of people,
so I wouldn't want to put...
Who left you the trust fund?
My dad.
Okay, what'd he do for a living?
I don't have to say it,
but I just want to say that.
I just got the bullet.
That's the only reason
why I called.
So if you're calling anonymous
to say this to about this girl,
she don't even know who you are.
That is true.
He's just telling a story.
I don't want people to know.
That's the whole point.
What's the point of the phone call?
You just wanted to let us know?
He just wanted to vent.
He's getting it off his chest.
Yep, I just wanted to get that off my chest.
And I don't want friends and family to know, you know.
I just want to stay low-key about it.
Okay.
What you going to do with the money?
I don't even know yet.
It came as a surprise, so, yeah.
I don't even know what I'm going to do with it, honestly.
Okay.
Have a good day.
How old are you?
23.
Okay.
Well, do the right thing, man.
Get you a financial advisor to help you properly manage that money.
Yeah, go to a couple financial advisors.
See which one is the best one.
Don't just go to one and do your homework before you give anybody money.
There's so many get-rich-quick schemes or double-your-money schemes.
Just go to somebody reputable and take your time.
You got time.
You ain't got to rush nothing.
Right, right, right, right.
Well, I appreciate it, man. Thank you
guys so much. Yes, sir. I don't believe
that, sir. Just want to throw that out there.
I think that was a bold face lie. Okay.
Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051
if you need to vent. You can hit us up. Now, we got rumors on the way?
Yes, let's talk about
50 Cent. He has parted ways with
stars. We'll give you some more details.
Alright, we'll get into that next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
This is The Rumor Report
with Angela Yee.
Rumor has it.
On The Breakfast Club.
So listen up.
Well, looks like 50 Cent
is not re-upping his deal
at Lionsgate.
Now, he did a series of posts on social media.
And that's also with stars, Lionsgate and stars.
But he apparently is leaving.
It's been seven years since he launched the Power franchise, which has been huge for stars.
But now he is owning his own content.
He said, September 17, 2022, official day of really owning my content
and deciding where and how I do it moving forward.
This is my vibe right now.
Star is deal done.
We had nothing but success.
So no hard feelings.
I'm out.
I'll let you know where we are going shortly.
And then he also said, shout out to BET.
I won hustler of the year.
No one from music culture has had success
in television production.
I have 25 shows now
and i've made some big deals away from tv i'm out of my deal at stars so congratulations to him and
deadline did confirm that that deal has not been renewed well star is supposed to back that bring
trucks up and make that work but there are a lot of other platforms that fit with 50 is doing
uh more now than Star does.
Especially right now in this era.
That deal was like what, five, six years ago?
So it made sense then. But moving forward
there's probably other platforms
that can maximize with the empire that
50 has built. He has so much
on his plate that's coming through this pipeline.
It's going to be ridiculous. It's just a lot.
He got a lot. He'll announce it I'm sure.
I can't wait to hear where he's going.
And last year Courtney Camp who he worked on power with also did not re-up her deal and she went to netflix and so she's not there either since last year all right now 50 cent is
also suing and that is a med spa that said he had well they didn't say he had penis enhancement
but apparently there was a lot of pictures from perfection plastic surgery and med spa that said he had well they didn't say he had penis enhancement but apparently there was a
lot of pictures from perfection plastic surgery a med spa where they were talking about penis
enhancement and a picture of 50 cent was using they were using a picture of 50 cent with her
and so people were assuming that 50 cent actually had this surgery and so now he's suing because
people think that he got penile enhancement he don't play about his
likeness i don't know if y'all guys figured it out or not but he don't play about his likeness
or anything that he owns no y'all skipping past the real conversation what is penile enhancement
exactly what do they what do they do you ask your friend ask your boyfriend what do they do like
what do like girth length what happens i think you should make a phone call, man.
I might get a consultation.
Not that I want it. I just want to see what they do.
You know? All these women
out here having all this fun with these BBLs.
You know who? Angela
Kogan, the woman from the
med spa. Who he's in the picture with.
So if you want us to set it up for you, we can
definitely do that. Oh, 50 just named you in the lawsuit
too. You got to come to me. He just threw you in with. So if you want us to set it up for you, we can definitely do that. Oh, 50 just named you in the lawsuit too.
You got a company. He just threw you in there.
I never posted the photo. But, you know,
you do take a picture with somebody and you're
promoting penis enhancement.
People will probably assume that you put those
two things together. No, that's true. Don't play with
that man likeness. He don't care
about the money. Don't play with that man likeness
if y'all haven't figured it out yet.
And people making these lawsuits
too easy nowadays.
The only problem is
you can't really get
nothing out of them.
So you spend all of this money
to, you know,
sue the person and win,
but then you can't really
get nothing in return.
Yeah, but they got to spend
hundreds of thousands of dollars
on lawyers and attorneys
and it crushes them that way.
See if you can give me
a free consultation,
Fifth, out of all of this.
Maybe we can get
a free consultation.
That's all you want?
Just give me this
whole thing and I'll rub up.
Now, 50 Cent has also reacted to young guru recalling uh jay-z warning rappers about about him and this was a clip from the my expert opinion podcast here it is there's a point where jay walks
in the studio and it was just so happened that everybody was in the studio just i think it was
we were working on blueprint too and jay walked in the studio he was like we were working on Blueprint 2. And Jay walked in the studio, he was like, yo, this dude 50, y'all gonna have to deal with him in the next couple months.
He said it to the whole crew. You had to deal with him.
What's that like for you since you was there first?
It was a warning. It was like, yo, there's another power coming. Because for me, 50 is
like one of the most incredible hook writers. It was one time me and Bleak was in the studio
and I heard a 50 record and I looked at bleak this dude said
I know you don't love me. Mm-hmm. Cuz you ain't the same when Jay-z's
Jay Jay Jay said that up here many moons ago. He told that story
I forgot why he told that story up there, but he told it up here many here many moons ago. He told that story. I forgot why he told that story up here,
but he told it up here many, many, many moons ago.
Now, 50 Cent posted that and responded,
I love you, M-Words 2.
I just need somebody to compete with.
It makes me find a way.
Jay know I will always find a way.
And drop on the Clues bombs for the My Expert Opinion podcast, too, man.
Y'all out here cooking.
Scoot the math off.
I recognize T.
T. Grizzly. His house in L.A. was burglarized and nearly $1 million in
jewelry and cash was stolen.
So they smashed the window, got
entrance into his house, and
according to the police report, nobody was home
at the time of the break-in. There is an
open investigation. And
here is what T. Grizzly had to say in
response to the news getting out
about the break-in and everything that's been going on i appreciate everybody reaching out
you know i'm saying checking on me i'm good my family good thank god i just need y'all do one
thing for me though man send a prayer up for pnb rocking his kids king vine and his kids and all
the kids i heard i got a girl without their pops you feel me and I had to go through that I grow without my pops because he was cute. You feel me ain't easy at all
So send the prayers and you know wish many blessings on them. We gotta watch what we speaking into existence, man
I know we looking at like we just making music. It's art and all that
But these words is powerful bro. And just like we can speak some good until existence, we can speak some bad until existence.
You feel me?
So we got to really be careful what we're saying about ourself
when we make this music, man.
Yeah, I mean, ironically, he has a series out right now called what?
Robbery?
Robbery, yep.
Yeah, it's like a trapped in the closet style song.
Yeah, song video type of thing.
But it's like a story.
It's basically him telling a story.
I actually went to the screening last week to see the whole entire album,
but it's not like he's robbing someone.
It's kind of like him detailing just the different relationships between people.
It's like a movie.
And so in certain parts, he's like playing a waiter.
He's doing different things.
He's kind of, he's not involved in it.
He's just telling the story of this person,
beefing with this person, and this happened,
and then with this girl.
It's not like he's talking about him robbing someone.
Well, I will say he's absolutely correct about the power of the tongue.
And it's amazing that he even has to say it because smart people learn from their own mistakes.
Wise people learn from the mistakes of others.
And it's like, have you not learned from the rappers that came before you?
There is absolute power in the tongue, which is why it does confuse me when I hear artists, you know, send out rest in pieces to people, but then continue to glorify and celebrate the same lifestyle that ultimately led to, you know, these people that they're saying RIPs to demise.
So it's just interesting.
All right. Well, that is your rumor reports.
And like my dad always told me, you can't make it comfortable. You have to make sure that no matter who you are, whether you make a little bit of money,
a lot of money, or medium money, you can't do the same things over and over again because
you're getting lax.
Make sure you put your alarm on the crib.
Make sure you don't go the same way home every day.
Even if you're taking a bus, take a different bus.
You never let nobody know your routine.
What does your dad think about social media?
What do you think about everybody showing their stuff on social media?
Showing what they got on social media?
My dad's not on social media.
That would drive him crazy.
That would make him lose
his mind. He's not on social media.
He don't even have Facebook. He don't play on social media.
He don't have...
Somebody got to call him and be like, I heard you did this
because he don't handle social media.
My mom neither.
They barely have a cell phone. You got to hardwire
them. All right.
Well, front page news next.
What are we talking about?
Yes, and let's talk about Bishop Lamar Whitehead back in the news again.
Oh, boy.
All right.
We'll get to that next.
And then Ari Lennox will be joining us next hour.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.

Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary?
Consider this. Start your own country.
I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete.
Everybody's doing it.
I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
I am the Queen of Ladonia.
I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg.
I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Be part of a great colonial tradition.
The Waikana tried my own country.
My forefathers did that themselves.
What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up their territory.
I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
Bullets.
We need help!
We need help!
We still have the off-road portion to go.

As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know
what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt,
learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams.
I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves.
For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step.
And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going.
This increment of small, determined moments.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself.
It's okay.

They win their first WNBA title, so congratulations to them.
Dropping the Clues bombs for the icon living in South Carolina's own Asia Wilson
from the Las Vegas Aces, man.
And an NFL footballer.
Patriots beat the Steelers.
The Giants are undefeated.
They beat the Panthers 19-16.
I don't like how you say that.
What?
Undefeated?
Yeah.
We are undefeated.
And they 2-0.
So what?
We undefeated.
Undefeated.
You got to get some games under your belt to be considered undefeated.
We got two games under our belt.
That's all we need.
24-0.
Jaguars won.
Buccaneers beat the Saints.
49ers beat the Seahawks.
Cardinals beat the Raiders.
The Jets beat the Browns on the comeback.
That was crazy.
All he had to do was take a knee.
Oh, man.
Dolphins beat the Ravens.
Lions beat the Commanders.
Rams beat the Falcons.
Broncos beat the Texans.
Packers beat the Bears.
Cowboys nearly won yesterday.
They beat the Bengals.
What do you mean, Cowboys nearly won?
I don't even think you used that word right just now.
That's not how you say that.
No, Cowboys nearly won.
We won.
What are you going to lose this week?
No, we're not.
We're going to win 15-12 against the New York Giants.
Definitely not.
And I'm DJing that game.
I'm going to be there.
You coming?
Play with Cooper Rush if you want to.
Oh, now that's your guy, Cooper Rush?
Play with Cooper Rush.
Now that's your guy.
Play with Cooper Rush if you want to.
Now that's your guy.
Okay?
Last week he was like, oh, this season's over.
We're going to get the first couple of big numbers. That's right. Play with Cooper Rush if you want to. Last week he was like, oh, this season's over. We're going to get the first couple of big downloads.
That's right.
Play with Cooper Rush if you want to.
You know why?
Because I have unwavering belief.
The reason I have such unwavering belief in myself and in life is because I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan.
Okay?
I don't know why I believe, but I believe.
And where there's a will, there's a way.
And when there's a rush, I trust.
I don't know what I said.
What?
I have to. What was that? I have to. Don't worry about it. Increase my bust. I bust, I trust. I don't know what I said. I have to.
What was that?
I have to.
Don't worry about it.
Increase my bust.
I bust.
I must.
I must.
I must increase my thrust.
All right.
What else you got, Yeezy?
All right.
Well, let's talk about Bishop Lamar Whitehead.
Now, he once again went viral.
That's your bishop, Yeezy!
If you remember this bishop.
I'm an M50 cent, you know, was at his church before, too.
A lot of people were.
But he's a Brooklyn pastor, and he's actually suing two YouTubers.
And he's suing them because of things that they've said about him
and accused him of not really getting robbed of his jewelry.
If you guys remember, he went viral when he was robbed during the live stream.
He's now seeking a $40 million lawsuit with damages against YouTubers Demario Dives and Larry Reed after they accused him of stealing from his own congregation.
$40 million?
And that's how much he's suing them for.
All right.
All right.
So this particular time, apparently he feels that there are people being sent to his church and they're sent to disrupt things. He was on the church's live stream giving his sermon at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie
when a woman in the congregation actually interrupted him as was walking past,
at which point he did grab her by the neck and then he shoved her out of the frame and continued.
Let's give Jesus a round of applause.
Let's give Jesus a round of applause.
Now let's give Jesus a round of applause. Let's give Jesus a round of applause. Now let's give Jesus a round of applause.
Why they take pictures and they want to be on social media.
Take the pictures.
Take the pictures.
Take the pictures.
Take the pictures.
Take the pictures.
That ain't nothing but the devil.
Why y'all interrupting this man's word?
This man ain't trying to do nothing but bring the good word to the people of Brooklyn
and y'all going to that man's church to disrupt things.
I never even thought about that until he said it, but that makes a lot of sense.
What's that?
That they would send people to disrupt that man from delivering the word of God.
Boy, Satan busy, ain't he?
Lord have mercy.
All right, well, Bishop Lamar Whitehead and the unidentified women were brought to the local precinct,
and they were questioned.
He has reportedly not been charged with any wrongdoing after the incident,
but he did go on Facebook Live afterward.
And here's what he had to say to explain what was going on.
These people were sent into my church to disrupt my church,
and this lady went towards my wife to attack her and my daughter.
And that's when I grabbed her, okay, and did what I had to do.
What any man and any pastor would do, okay. of the experience of three men coming into my church, robbing us, and putting a gun in my wife's face
and in my eight-month-old daughter's face.
And that's not going to happen again.
No, I didn't choke her.
I grabbed her and escorted her out the way she needed to be escorted out.
I thought he was trying to baptize her.
I thought he was putting his hands on her to deliver her in some way, shape, or form.
Now, yeah, I'm reading on Shade Room.
It says that Bishop Whitehead says he was arrested and injured by police.
I know.
We're getting to that, right?
You got arrested?
No, he's saying he wasn't charged.
He said he wasn't charged with it.
They both were taken into the precinct.
And here's what else he had to say about the arrest.
I just want to give you guys an update.
Yes, I was arrested, but I was released and all the charges were dropped or they called it voided out, whatever they want to call it.
So if I did do something, why am I not still there?
Right. Let's use logic.
Let's use logic.
And she's still there.
Amen?
So I just need y'all to get that understanding.
I'm not scared at all.
I'm not scared to be in my church.
And I'm going to continue to be in my church.
But one of the things that you're not going to do is come inside of my church and do what you want to do.
That's not going to happen.
It's never going to happen.
Oh, man.
I cannot believe Bishop Lamar Whitehead is giving away all his content for free.
50, what are you waiting on?
This man needs a docu-series.
Y'all thought Honk If You Love Jesus was good.
This is the best church entertainment on the planet right now.
Are you serious?
Amen.
Are you serious?
Oh, my goodness.
Didn't y'all say 50 was a member of his church at one point?
No.
What'd y'all say?
He got a proclamation.
He gave an award. Yeah, a proclamation. Well, 50, you need to turn this into a docu- church at one point? No. What'd y'all say? He got a proclamation. He gave an award, yeah, a proclamation.
Well, 50, you need to turn this into a
docuseries, okay? We need to go
into the mind of Bishop
Lamont Whitehead, but also see what's
happening in that church. I would be intrigued.
I am interested, okay?
Because the devil is busy.
And the devil is truly trying to keep that man
from delivering his word, and I need to know why.
Bishop needs some security.
Definitely needs security.
He needs some security.
I know we all believe in the scripture,
no weapon formed against me shall prosper.
But, you know, you still got to protect yourself.
You can believe in God and have faith,
but you still got to protect yourself and the church.
Absolutely.
Especially after they done tried to rob you.
All that Gucci and Rolls Royce, you need to get some security.
The security should have handled the lady if the lady was threatening your family.
Amen. Amen.
Amen. Amen. That is your front page news.
Alright.
When are you going back to church, E?
I've been there one time.
Amen. Alright. To get my
proclamation, as did a lot of people,
as did 50 Cent, your boy.
I'm not asking about you. I'm just asking about you.
That's all I'm saying.
He was actually at Angela Yee Day, man.
Shout out to Bishop Lamar Whitehead.
I thought his name was Lamar.
It's Lamar?
Lamar.
Oh, Lamar.
Oh, my bad.
My bad.
Okay.
Does it matter if it's Lamar Lamar?
Yes, it does.
You need to get that man's name right.
Goodness gracious.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
When we come back, Ari Lennox will be joining us.
We're going to kick it with Ari Lennox when we come
back. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
We had a good time. You just don't love us?
No, it's just, you know, y'all can
be a little tough on
people sometimes. We've evolved.
We've changed a whole lot.
And I feel that.
So I want to, if you don't mind, for people that don't know ari lennox is or where you're signed to or how you got your start
i want to start from the beginning for those people since this is your first time you're
going to do a documentary oh yeah so you're signed to j cole how did you get into the music industry
and signed to cole well i was working at public storage Storage and just dropping music on SoundCloud.
And there's an amazing rapper named Omen.
He loved my music.
He told Eve and Cole about it.
And he was like, we'll fly you out like tomorrow or tonight, something like that, so that you can meet Cole in the studio and stuff like that.
And I was horrified.
You know, I just got the job.
I didn't want to lose the job.
It was $10 an hour.
You know what I mean?
It was the highest paid job I ever had.
You said $10 an hour?
Yeah.
Wow.
So I didn't want to, like, lose it.
So I almost didn't go.
But honestly, I think it was fear.
You know, fear of flying and things like that.
But I just, I got over it.
I drank Mad Vodka and I got on that flight.
That was your first flight as well?
First flight in a long time, like years.
Did you lose your job?
Yeah, I did.
I did.
And I was I was horrified.
And I started doing Uber.
There's a lot here now.
First of all, what were you afraid, why were you afraid of flying?
Well, I had a traumatic experience when I was young on a flight.
Playing by the crash or something?
Yeah, well, the engines went out.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
That'll do it.
That'll do it.
Yeah, so as we're about to land, he's basically telling us to brace for impact. And I was very young and just praying, but I don't remember having fear before that moment.
But after that moment, I was just scared.
It's trauma.
Yeah, I think so.
Absolutely.
Now, let's rewind.
Now, you lose your job and you become an Uber driver.
I can't see you driving a damn Uber.
I was.
Are you a good driver?
Am I a good driver?
It depends.
I'm very safe at driving, yes.
But there are things that have happened where it's just like I could have been more, a little bit more alert.
Okay.
What was your star rating?
My star rating?
Oh, it started dropping like crazy.
And I don't know why.
Some people thought I was driving too fast.
Or one note I got was I was switching lanes too much.
But I was trying to get them there.
I don't know what the hell.
What kind of car was it?
A Kia Soul.
Why are you doing that?
That's Uber X.
Yeah, I was public storage.
No, I didn't have no big fancy, you know.
Tell me how the car was set up.
What did you have in the car?
What did you have in the car? What did you have in the car?
It was just a nice black interior and a big bowl of candy.
I love when Uber drivers have candy.
Did you have chargers for people?
Yes, I did have my charger I would give because, you know, you can't trust people.
Did you play your own music?
No, not my, I would never.
That's weird.
You give them a car and they start playing their own music all the time.
No, I would never. I mean, never I know. You get in the car, they start playing the old music. That happens all the time in there.
I mean, never, never. Not one time?
No.
Did you make conversation or were you quiet?
I made some conversation sometimes.
Three times people threw up in my car.
How does that work?
Do they pay for it or?
They pay for it, but it's nowhere near enough.
And then you lose like five days of work because your car stinks and you're traumatized
yeah how long did you have the uber job for this is interesting this was my longest job today uber
i probably did for like at least a year or something wow yeah so i guess the meeting didn't
go well because you lost your job but then you started driving uber no the meeting went really
well i just you know i had to still make money you know they were
still you know taking their time with the idea of like signing me it wasn't like an immediate this
is my last uber question when you saw that when you saw the episode of insecure when isa ray was
driving uber did you say oh i see me i didn't see oh you never saw that episode yeah I do love Lisa she drove WuWu on Insecure for a while
she did wow I feel like a loser
I need to you know why I never
watched Insecure
because every time I would watch
an episode I would just get so sad about my
life and how like sexy
these men were and how
I had no men
but that's by choice I feel But that's by choice,
I feel like for you.
That's by choice.
Maybe it is.
It is by choice
because you could have a man.
I could.
But it might not be the one.
Some people are okay
with settling
and saying,
okay, I don't want to be alone
and people make you feel like that.
But the truth is,
it's better to like
wait to the right person.
Absolutely. And I've definitely learned that like the hard way so very like intentional in particular about like who i want to share my time with so i find myself alone a lot why not
change the mindset a little like you see the sexy man and you'd be like i'm gonna have that one day
i'm gonna have a man like that for myself one day i've been more adamant on like
my standards absolutely i i do do that like i'm more like yes he has to be fine yes he has to
have a nice job yes he has to be good to me an effective communicator like i am like have his
own place he did have his own place i am you know chanting those things within and my assistant
loves you, right?
Really?
Her name is Mercedes.
Hi, Mercedes.
So she sent me a couple of questions.
One of the questions,
she said you have a song called P.O.F.
She's single, by the way, right?
Oh.
And she says,
have you tried the dating app P.O.F.
and were you ever catfished?
And then she goes,
by the way,
that dating site is terrible.
Oh.
So have you ever tried
Plenty of Fish before?
Absolutely.
I met my first boyfriend on P.O.F.
Really?
His name is John.
I don't know if I'll get in trouble for that.
Salute to John.
Salute to John.
I'll be like, yes, that's old John.
I've been trying to tell y'all.
Way home.
Yeah, I shouldn't have shouted him out.
But I had to.
That's a bad time of name, I would say.
John is lit, right?
John is going to be so lit when this interview come out.
I've been telling y'all.
I told you I used to rock with Ari.
I heard you got kicked off of some dating sites because people didn't believe that it was you.
Yeah, Tinder.
They didn't believe it was me.
And I didn't want to blank my Instagram so that people would know it's me and then maybe reach out to me for the wrong reasons.
Like, you know, secret rappers.
You are a fly human.
Thank you.
What is happening here?
I think I need to step outside more,
but I'm finally stepping outside
and meeting nice,
enjoyable individuals.
Let's go back to John for a second.
Why did you throw John back in the sea?
Well, John went to the military
and I felt like we were growing apart and the affection was lacking.
He called me, bro.
And I was just like, you know what?
I couldn't.
Yeah.
And it triggered me.
But and I know it wasn't just, bro.
Like, it's fine.
You can call me that.
It's just I felt like our romance was kind of dissipating.
And so I think that was just a triggering thing.
And we had an argument.
And I was like well I guess
we're not together anymore and I that's kind of where to protect myself unfortunately I do that
and he was like okay fine we're not together anymore and he was really serious well his loss
how many songs is he inspired um probably pof the the ep and my album, Shea Butter Baby. That's literally greatly inspired by him.
And I'm so grateful.
Well, it was the first relationship I ever had.
Do you still speak to Joe?
Yeah, we're cool.
We check on each other sometimes.
So why he ain't get an EP credit on Shea Butter Baby?
Oh, s***.
Well, I mean, it's the price you pay when you just don't want to get back together back in 2016.
I know women that swear by shea butter baby like they
like that's like their bible so that's that's big of him he gonna john make the t-shirts i inspired
shea butter man okay don't make those t-shirts please all right we got more with ari lennox when
we come back it's the breakfast club good morning audience dj envy angela yee charlamagne the guy
we are the breakfast club
we're still kicking it with ari lennox yee so you've met a lot of guys like well you've dated
guys and they've been secret rappers i thought that was really funny oh when you date somebody
and then all of a sudden you find out later like you'll pass this to cole for me exactly oh my god
and it's the worst it happens like but that's why I've learned with dating, ask specific questions.
Are you a rapper?
Have you ever recorded music?
Do you play basketball?
I need to know specifically.
That is hilarious.
That's a plot for a movie or something.
The girl thinks that the guy is cheating, but he's really sneaking off to record mixtapes.
He's really sneaking off.
Exactly.
Exactly.
What did your mom and your family say when you were recording with Cole and going out there recording?
Because a lot of times parents don't believe in the industry way.
My dad never really knew what was going on in my life.
So you was the secret rapper?
Yeah.
I mean, he knew he he was the one
who always said you're gonna be something one day like he he always said that but like he was kind
of always doing his own thing so he never really was seeing that i was how serious i was about
music which is why he was like you should be a nurse but really he wanted to be a nurse and
my mom was very calm was just like like forward, like happy for me.
Very supportive.
Yeah, very supportive.
She never really knew this, like how serious.
You said that your dad used to always tell you, you're going to be something, you're going to be something.
Does that put added pressure on a daughter?
Wow.
No.
You know what?
And it sucks because we're not even speaking right now
ew what's going on okay so we're not even speaking right now but
i do feel like when you instill certain things like that
it goes a long way for sure because um that is the one area in my life where i feel like i did
really good.
All right.
Now, with you and your dad not speaking,
is there something small that you can call and be like?
Because life is so short. It's so much s***.
So, like, I really think it's important for, like, people to be healed
when they're bringing kids into this world.
I agree.
Because it's just like that alone,
I feel like probably innately helped me in so many ways,
like always grinding and like that.
But I could also see the other like, you know, that I carry.
And it's I'm sure it has to do with the other, you know,
that you go through trauma.
Well, let me let me tell you something I learned in therapy, because the first time I had a breakthrough in therapy was literally realizing all the daddy issues I had.
Yeah. So when me and my dad had a conversation and I realized, damn, he was a human before he was my dad.
And he had his own issues, substance abuse issues, dealing with mental health issues.
And he was just doing the best he could with what he had at the time,
it allowed me to give him a lot more grace.
Yes.
We got to give our parents grace.
I know.
And I feel like there needs to be a lot of group therapy.
Absolutely.
And, of course, I want to continue my therapy alone,
but I think that would probably be best because I know these are things
I'm even carrying into my dating life.
And I just don't want to have that weight on me.
And I do want to be more compassionate because he went through a lot, you know, with foster care and abandonment issues and all kinds of like dark things.
So I do recognize why he is the way that he is and you've been really
open about going to therapy when did you decide that that was something you wanted to do this
year I was just tired of just being a big ball of like traumas like just being unaware of like
what was going on inside and like you know a lot of times I could be so triggered
and it's just like well why and and now I'm realizing why somebody's just pretending like
I don't exist or like not even looking at me or like kind of having like this arrogant nature can
be so triggering like where did I see that like earlier in my life or experience that like I'm
starting to realize it never stops it's or experience that like I'm starting to realize
it never stops it's like a cycle like if you don't realize that you're carrying all of this
weight it comes out in different ways and people be like why is she freaked out it wasn't even that
serious it was a reminder it was a flashback probably a trigger without even realizing
where it came from so there's always something in our childhood. Yeah, always.
There's always something that happened in our childhood.
It happens to you in adult.
When it happens, you get triggered.
You're like, oh, that's why therapy is great.
It's like, oh, that's why I'm reacting like this
because of what happened here.
Yes, and it's been really beautiful
and eye-opening for sure.
Are you healing those childhood wounds?
Oh, definitely.
I want to keep going deeper.
This start is happening for sure.
And you said you see a lot of that in the relationships that you have now.
Like, what are some things and patterns?
Like, I know you said you want to be more sympathetic.
So what are some things that you feel like, okay, I got to work on this?
Damn.
Probably how I'm communicating.
I'm a very anxious person so basically instead of saying
I've said this before but instead of saying like nobody cares like it's just about well
you know I feel like this is how I'm feeling like you know that I'm not being heard or you know what
I'm saying like I try to work on how I'm communicating because I get so kind of in my own anxiety and mess
that I can kind of be a little insensitive sometimes.
So I just want to work on like that.
And when it comes to performing and getting on stage,
are you the type of person who gets nervous before that
or does it all go away
and that's where you feel most comfortable?
Most times I rarely get nervous like that nervous but certain things like tv performances like i'm shaking like it's just certain or jasmine jasmine like at the um when
we performed at the bt awards like horrified like i don't want to let this legend down like jasmine sullivan is everything so
yeah question when you get triggered by secret rappers do you remember the struggle rapper who
traumatized you oh there's so many there's so many yeah goodness gracious people will never hear of
there's so many right people we never hear of um Like they just they won't say it until like you like them.
And it's just like, oh, I'm about to go to the studio.
What? Why? Like when? What studio?
Do people ever act like they don't know who you are when they want to date you and act like.
Oh, my God.
Like, hey, what do you do? You know, and act like they're not sure who you are.
Yeah, I've definitely been in a relationship where he acted like i was not who i am at all that's ridiculous yeah i was trying to feel
appreciated he kept trying to say it was just it's ego like you know it's not all about you
type thing but really i just felt like he always kind of diminished everything about me, you know, like kind of pretended like this singing part didn't even exist.
I hate people like that.
Don't try to make me feel small because you're a d***, Lou.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
I mean like that.
I'm not saying that literally.
Oh, my gosh.
I didn't mean that literally.
You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
What happened?
Tell me.
Tell me. What happened? I want to know. You know what I mean? Charlamagne, what happened? Tell me. Tell me.
What happened?
I want to know.
You know what I mean?
But you know what I mean.
People that try to make us feel small just because they haven't done what they want to do in life.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I guess so.
But now I know.
Is it okay for him to make you feel small?
Oh, shut up, Ye.
Jesus.
But now I know, like, I just, my goal is just to date nice people.
It's got to be hard, though, because you're Ari Lennox now,
so you don't know who, well, you don't know who likes you for you or who likes you because you're a superstar.
Yeah, where you meeting these guys?
Like, where do you meet guys besides the, you know, plenty of fish?
Like, where you meeting these individuals?
Well, the other day i met a guy at
the fashion show that was really nice and he was he was so fine but the date was terrible how do
you kick it but what was terrible the date was his dress was probably better than yours
especially if you met him in new york at fashion
so how did he kick it to you how did he kick it to you? How did he kick it to you? You're sitting there. He walks over.
He actually.
You got to get by your security first.
Well, we were sitting in a seat.
And he.
Oh, dang.
I don't want nobody to.
Show that those pictures.
Yeah.
She's sitting next to you.
Oh.
Well, I won't tell you which fashion show.
You can stop now.
Yeah, you can stop now.
Yeah, yeah.
All right.
What was your.
Well, he just.
He reached out and introduced himself.
And like shook hands.
And it was really cute
and sweet.
And where was the first date?
The first date?
I ain't going to tell you where.
I was curious if y'all went to a restaurant.
It was a lovely restaurant.
It really was.
But he was late.
He was late to the date.
But traffic is bad during Fashion Week.
Nah, he's supposed to be there on time.
Isn't it Fashion Week now?
He was hanging out with J. Cole and um.
What?
What?
So it's a rapper? No, that's what I'm saying. Why was he hanging out with J. Cole. What? So it's a rapper?
No, that's what I'm saying.
Why was he hanging out with J. Cole?
Her whole team is like, stop.
My dating life is just not it.
All right, we got more with Ari Lennox.
When we come back, it's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
We are the Breakfast Club.
We're still kicking it with Ari Lennox. Charlamagne what was your intention with this album the intention was just
me showcasing dating in its entirety from i was trying to get away from dating but you just bought
us right back it's all right it's on subject for and it's where you are you know what a lot of
people can relate to you that's one of the main questions people ask.
How do you find somebody?
Yeah.
Like somebody good, somebody nice.
Do you think about marriage?
Like are you dating with the intention to get married?
Yes.
How you find somebody probably is how finding yourself really.
And so that's really what I'm focused on.
I got a little distracted with that recent date.
And then I was like, well, let me see what else'm focused on. I got a little distracted with that recent date and then I was like
well let me see what else is out here but
I think I'm going to pull back into like
myself and just kind of like
change my number and just focus
on more beautiful
books on trauma and just
focus on me. Oh I got a great one for you.
I might have it in here. Resmum Minicum, My Grandmother's
Hands. Really? Yeah. We also have
a Marianne Unbothered book in here, too.
Oh, wow.
Is that about dramas?
Oh, wow.
He looks so adorable.
Okay.
He's single.
All right.
Oh, no, no, no.
Okay.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
You can still have it.
Check that she get her book back.
Damn.
I don't want nothing.
No problem.
No, no.
You don't have to get the book back.
No singers. No singers. No rappers.. You don't have to give the book back. No singers.
No singers.
No rappers.
What about ballplayers?
You said earlier, oh, if he played basketball, he doesn't mention that.
Maybe a soccer player would be nice.
Go with the money at my G.
Go with the money at.
Is that where the money at?
Football.
That's where the money at.
That's where the money at.
Football is where the money at.
That's where the real money at.
Soccer.
Okay.
I didn't know that.
I'm not a bird.
I'm not a bird. No. I'm just saying we have intentions. See? Wow. That's what a real money at. Okay. I'm not a bird. We have intentions.
That's all.
Did you finish your thought on the intentions of this album?
The intention of the album
is just making beautiful music
that sounds like I'm in love
based on crushes of people
I've never even hung out with before.
Mean Mug and Hoodie
crushes on fine men that I never even hung out with.
And then it gets to blocking you towards the end.
It gets to blocking you.
And that's where I'm at right now with it, like in real life.
But yeah, it's just dating and the emotions.
And towards the end of the album I'm definitely more
about like okay it's time to protect my peace like no one's gonna do that for me
and I find it irresponsible to be moving around in life with all of these
unhealed you know traumas and trying to you know get to know people so I just
you know I want to check some things some codependency things and anxiety things.
That's powerful.
Do you block people fast?
You talk about blocking.
Do you block people fast?
If they ignore you, just block them?
I do.
Like one time, I felt that there was distance happening.
And I was like, hey, can we talk?
I feel like something is changing.
He was like, I thought we were good.
I thought everything was good.
You know what?
Just need to get something to eat.
I'm going to call you right back.
And so I got on the phone with my dad.
And me and my dad talked for like two hours.
And I didn't hear from the guy.
And I'm looking at my phone like, wow.
And so I blocked him after that.
And that was it.
That was it.
We spoke one time since then.
I'm sure for some reason I'm attracting avoidant people who don't know how to communicate well.
Well, you're probably attracting what you are.
That's why what you said about, you know, healing your own trauma before you get into another situation is so important.
That right there, that's better than money.
You know how we all, you know, I'm about to say, you know how we always say you need a man with money.
But you know, I do want that.
But you really want a man
that is doing the work
like you're doing the work
I got so many homegirls
that say I can't date a man
if they not in therapy
if they not trying to heal
wow
that's what I would want
for myself
a secure individual
and or
someone
who is striving
to be secure
and healing
as well as I am
healing
and trying to heal
I wanted to ask you
what did you think because you are one of the leaders. I wanted to ask you, what did you think?
Because you are one of the leaders of this new R&B era.
What did you think of Diddy's comments that R&B is dead?
I thought it was dismissive to all of the amazing, legendary artists
that have been in the game and that are also contributing.
I mean, from Mary J. Blige to Jasmine Sullivan to Summer Walker to Ella Mai
to Money Long, Van Jess.
Lucky Day.
Lucky Day, Aaron Ray.
There's so many of us.
Tanariel.
Brent Fiaz.
Brent Fiaz.
Jalen Jossie.
Her.
Her, yes, yes.
SZA still working.
SZA.
Everyone is still killing it and dropping music
and it was dismissive just because i don't know tank gotta say tank yeah tank exactly amazing
yeah i don't know why he said that it was not nice
but i do love a good way to put it i do love all that he's contributed to music. So it's no shade.
But it's like be more nice to the people that are really, you know, we're out here still.
Stop it.
All right.
I often wonder when you was young trying to get on, what did you think the industry would be like?
And what have you realized, you know, it really is?
What did I think it was going to be like?
I don't remember.
I just knew I just I saw Bow Wow up there and JoJo. And I just going to be like? I don't remember. I just knew I just, I saw Bow Wow up there and JoJo,
and I just wanted to be like them when I was young.
What did I think?
I don't know what I thought.
Maybe I thought there was going to be a lot of devil people,
Illuminati.
I've yet to see that.
I thought there would be a lot of cocaine.
I've yet to see the rooms with...
No one's ever offered you cocaine.
I've never seen it before.
Are you waiting to sacrifice a family member or something?
No, I'm not waiting.
I promise.
I don't want to sacrifice.
I've never seen cocaine before either.
No, yeah, exactly.
I've been offered it, but I've never seen it.
I've never been offered.
I don't believe it.
I think I've been offered it twice in my life.
But they didn't like
have it in their hand
wow
they were like
do you party
yeah
then I have been offered it
before then
oh
in a bathroom
yes that's what that meant
oh my god
you've been offered cocaine
I have been offered cocaine
it's called a party party
all my friends
are in the Illuminati
all your friends
are in the Illuminati
I'm just playing
oh my god
oh no but we do appreciate you we appreciate your music thank you I'll say all your friends are in Illuminati. Oh, my God. Oh, no.
But we do appreciate you.
We appreciate your music.
Thank you.
And, you know, I was kind of hurt when you said you don't want to do interviews anymore.
I was like, don't let one bad interaction with somebody mess up somebody else, you know?
And I'm glad you're over that, and I'm glad you're doing interviews again.
Thank you.
I want people to understand that was just a part of my anxious nature of like what I met earlier when I was just like, nobody cares. I kind of would release something that we didn't agree on him
releasing and i just kind of felt ambushed you know so yeah well let's get into a record off
the album what you want to hear oh i guess boy bye because that's a real sexy record i love this
lucky day is awesome all right i can't wait to see you on tv and movies too i see that in your
future thank you as well That's so sweet.
Yeah, we need to get with Shonda Rhimes and do this miniseries, How to Get Away With Rapping.
Oh, my God.
Stop it, man.
About secret struggle rappers.
I know.
It would be brilliant.
Yes.
That's what we're going to do.
Put a little thriller in it.
Yes, please.
Well, Ari Lennox, thank you for joining us.
It wasn't that bad.
Thank you.
It was beautiful.
Y'all's energy.
Wow.
See that?
And we prayed before we came in here.
Why you talk so damn much?
Because we held hands.
Why?
Why you talk so much?
As a big family.
Why you talk so much?
Because I love you.
I do feel the peace.
You don't love me back?
No, not today.
You talk too much.
You guys, this is about Ari Lennox,
not about y'all.
That's what I'm trying to tell him.
No, I just said we prayed together as a family.
What are you talking about?
Oh, God.
We set an intention before the interview.
That's what we did.
Thank you. Yeah, salute to Ms. Kelly. Don't take radio personalities either, Ari. I felt that. What are you talking about? We set an intention before the interview. That's what we did. Thank you.
Don't date radio personalities either.
I felt that. What did you say?
Don't ever date a radio personality either.
I promise I won't. Almost did.
I won't. Really?
No, that's all.
See, the interview was about to be over.
Now he's crying.
Tell the tea.
No more.
You can't do that. That's payola.
Yeah, really?
Oh, my God.
Okay.
All right.
I'll keep that in mind.
No, I don't want that.
It's Ari Lennox.
Why are you playing Ari so much?
No.
200 spins?
No.
In a week?
It's Ari Lennox.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Rumor Report.
Rumor Report.
This is The Rumor Report. Talk to Angela Ye It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Rumor Report. Rumor Report. This is the Rumor Report.
With Angela Yee.
On the Breakfast Club.
Well, here was something that we definitely did not see coming.
An altercation between Tory Lanez and August Alsina, allegedly.
Now, this all started on Gossip of the City T.
They posted, Tory Lanez KO'd August Alsina tonight
after August got froggy with Tory
over something Tory said months ago.
Tory was trying to show him love
and August wanted to take it to a negative place
and got knocked out.
August was the negative one, not Tory.
August felt some kind of way
because Tory said months ago
he wouldn't have snitched on Jada like August did.
It was like a little freestyle.
Yeah, he did a freestyle, yep.
Yep, Tory tried to shake his hand and August ignored him. Tory asked him about it have snitched on Jada like August did. It was like a little freestyle. Yeah, he did a freestyle. Yep. Yep.
Tory tried to shake his hand and August ignored him.
Tory asked him about it and August got negative and told him to keep the same energy.
So that was the first reporting of it from Gossip of the City team.
And then the neighborhood talk tried to confirm the rumor.
And apparently Tory Lanez liked the post.
But then he said that was an accident.
I didn't confirm anything
August Alsina then went and posted a picture
of himself with a bloody mouth and
talked about the interaction
now August did a whole entire post about
this and he said
as I'm exiting the building
after the show
last night a 4'11 size leprechaun
ran down on me with 8 oversized security
edmars whom I greeted each individually upon their walk up as they tried to press me.
Whole time, I'm one deep, no security.
Tory continues to ask with a broken ego why I didn't dap him up.
I go on to tell him I was a fan of him and didn't understand him speaking on my business
publicly in the past because I don't know him or ever met him until last night.
So when he spoke, it called me off guard because of his past actions.
I assumed he didn't like me.
That's all.
Not to mention with my history of health and condition, just recently overcoming being
paralyzed, my doctor directed me not to compromise my health while out on the road and shake
as less hands as possible due to Corona and monkey pots.
So he said there was never any disrespectful words.
And he also wants Tory Lanez to put out the footage.
He was like, his people got the whole thing on camera.
Put the footage out.
I'd like to see it.
Anyway, let me go clean this blood off my face
with some Encina Wellness,
which is a brand that he's involved in
that he's been pushing.
All right, well, Tory Lanez then went and talked to academics
and said nothing happened.
What happened with August, bro? everything good okay so you're not involved no hell no like i don't know if he's doing a promo i don't
i don't know what they're talking about yo when i read it i'm like your tori not even
violent like that, bro. Like, yo.
All right.
So basically, Tory Lanez is denying the whole thing and saying it never happened.
August Alsina posted a few different pictures of his injuries.
Yeah, that was the fallback comedy tour, R&B comedy tour.
It was Friday in D.C., Saturday in Chicago, and Sunday was supposed to be last night in Long Island, but neither Tori or August
performed last night.
Now, I know this was in Chicago
and they did talk, TMZ reached out
to the Chicago Police Department, but they
said they didn't have any charges that had
been filed as of that time.
I've been hearing these stories
and I've been like, what are we supposed to do with all this information?
It's like a non-stop soap opera that'd be hearing these stories, and I'd be like, what are we supposed to do with all this information? Like, it's like a nonstop soap opera that'd be happening via social media all the time.
And the crazy thing is the R&B tour when I DJed last night was dope.
It was R&B music.
It was calm.
It was cool.
It was just a good vibe and good feeling.
Some R&B dudes been wilding for the longest.
Once again, 50.
We need you to produce an R&B boxing match. Oh, boy. Because it kind of started with your tycoon weekend with the R&B guys wilding wilding for the longest. Once again, 50. We need you to produce an R&B boxing match.
Oh, boy.
Because it kind of started with your tycoon weekend with the R&B guys wilding.
You know what I mean?
And then it kind of just has been carrying on.
We see the Omarions and the B2Ks.
Now this weekend with Tory and August.
I forgot all the ones that happened for 50 Cent Tycoon weekend.
It was Jacquees.
It was Trey.
Let's do some r and beef celebrity boxing
matches you know i mean was it pleasure b2 i don't remember yeah let's do some r and b celebrity
boxing matches august said you wouldn't even know about this story if he didn't try to go leak the
story me and his people were the only people out there when this happened but for the sake of
storytelling we gonna always stand on truth and that is your rumor report all right charlamagne who you giving that donkey to
man four after the hour we need former governor of mississippi phil bryant to come to the front
of the congregation we like to have a word with him brett fauve need to get some of this hee-haw

Did you see? Donkey. Donkey.
Punch him.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
For the donkey of the day.
That's pretty funny.
Charlamagne the devil?
Possibly.
The Breakfast Club.
We gotta add Ab-Soul to one of those.
Ab-Soul just did a donkey of the day
mentioning his new record. Dropping the clues bombs for Ab Soul.
Don Quixote today for Monday, September 19th,
goes to former Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant.
Okay, this story bothers me in such a real way because it's just more proof
that regardless of what this country tries to tell us,
the powers that be do not care about the poor.
Period.
Okay, because Philan is at the center
of a welfare scandal there is a civil lawsuit against him because he used federal welfare
funds toward the building of a new volleyball stadium at the university of southern mississippi
a massive criminal scandal in which prominent officials misspent or stole millions in welfare
funds intended for the nation's poorest residents disgusting disgusting
a project prosecutors have called a scheme to defraud the government let's go to ktla for the
report please brett farve's life after football has been focused on philanthropy but as first
reported by mississippi today newly revealed text messages filed in an ongoing civil lawsuit
show farve was part of a scheme that funneled at least $5 million
of welfare funds to build a new volleyball stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi,
where Favre graduated and his daughter played. The texts show former Mississippi Governor Phil
Bryant pushed for the facility, despite denying close involvement. A friend of the former
governor's wife, Nancy New, would submit a $5 million
upfront lease to use the university's athletic facilities for her non-profits programming.
Former Welfare Agency Director John Davis approved $4 million immediately.
Oh, when the scammers is white, the light's not so bright, huh? They don't shine the light on the
white scammers like they do the others. This is bigger than PPP loans, baby.
This is how the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor.
You wonder why the people who need relief in this country can't get it?
It's because the money that's supposed to go to them is going to rich people's pet projects.
As if they can't get the money to build that volleyball stadium from donors already.
Hell, if Brett Favre doesn't have the money to do it himself,
all that money Brett Favre made ringless, I know he got it.
But why spend your own money when you can spend money
meant for the poor and disenfranchised in our society?
Now, of course, Phil Bryant denied it, but screenshots will never lie.
And there are text messages that show that Bryant guided Favre
on how to write a funding proposal so that it would be granted.
Now, Brett Favre previously denied that he discussed the volleyball project
with Bryant, but the text messages quoted indicate otherwise, suggesting that $5 million was given to the school. Now,
Brett Favre's involvement in the welfare scandal first emerged when it was reported that he
received $1.1 million for work he allegedly didn't perform. He eventually repaid the money,
but he's been sued for the interest on the money he received and returned. Let's go back to KTLA
for more to report, please.
Favre, texting in gray, tells New that the governor has seen the proposal, but hint, hint, you need to reword it to get it accepted.
He adds, hopefully she can put more details in the proposal,
like how many times the facility will be used and for what specific purpose.
Favre also received $1.1 million in welfare funding
through the Mississippi Community
Education Center for speaking at events he never showed up to. Favre asks New, if you were to pay
me, is there any way the media can find out where it came from and how much? Favre has repaid the
money, but state auditors want more than $200,000 in interest. Favre's attorney denies the former QB knew that money came from a welfare
fund, describing his client as honorable throughout this whole thing. General Merrick Garland requesting that the DOJ investigate this situation and that they
focus on Brett Favre and Phil Bryant in particular.
Favre has already been questioned by the FBI.
I say, hell yes, they need to be investigated because there's not too many things more despicable
than stealing from the have not.
This is literally like, you know, seeing a homeless person on the street and walking
up to them and just taking money out of their Starbucks cup.
Like it's bad enough we live in a country where folks can't even make ends meet,
but when you have elected officials who are supposed to be providing relief
for these individuals, but instead they are stealing from them?
This is why when things really, really, really hit the fan in this country,
it's going to be bad.
Because the poor aren't going to continue to cannibalize themselves.
No, they're going to hop those gated fences
and start coming to the start coming to the communities
uh y'all are in not only because they know that's where the prosperity at but now they have even
more incentive because not only are y'all not helping the poor and disenfranchised you're
stealing from them as well i never understood this the same way i never understood labels not
paying artists what the artists are old it's not your money the money is there for who is there for
simply give them what is rightfully theirs. It's simple.
There's no need for Phil and Brett
to be dipping their hands in the church's money.
For what?
Now, we all know nothing is going to happen to Phil, Brian, or
Brett Favre, because if something happens to them,
then it sets a precedent, and now more elected
officials will start to get exposed, investigated,
and arrested for the same thing.
And we all know Phil, Brian, and Brett Favre
weren't the first to do things like this.
So they're not going to make an example out of them because doing that will lead to them making an example out of the whole system
or having to make an example out of the whole system.
And that's not going to happen.
OK, the good old boys, you know, don't know how to punish the good old boys.
OK, but Benny Thompson is right.
You have to push for them to be investigated.
You know why?
Because if you forgive the fox for stealing your chickens, he will take your sheep.
And America been past stealing chickens and they've been taking sheep.
So, yes, investigate them.
So it leads, you know, to some type of conviction.
But we know it won't because we have a system that feeds off sheep.
And once again, they will never punish the good old boys.
OK, but I just want to warn America of where we are headed.
If we're not already there now, but we're definitely headed that way.
If the haves don't start doing right by the have nots.
Woof. Man, matter of fact, this ain't even a word for me.
It's a word from a prophet. One of the greatest messengers God has ever sent this dimension to Pax Accord if I know in this hotel room
They have food every day, and I'm knocked on the door every day to eat and they tell and they open the door
Let me see the party. Let me see like them throwing salami all over that
I mean just like throwing food around we're telling me there's no food in here. No I'm saying every day
I'm standing outside trying to sing my way in.
You know what I'm saying?
We are hungry, please let us in.
We are hungry, please let us in.
After about a week, that song is going to change to,
We hungry, we need some food.
After two, three weeks, it's like, you know,
Get me all the food, I'm going to be breaking down the door.
After a year, you know what I'm saying?
I'm picking the lock, coming through the door,
blasting, you know what I'm saying? It's like you're hungry.
You reached your level. You don't want anymore.
We asked 10 years ago. We was asking
with the Panthers. We was asking with them.
You know, with the Civil Rights Movement. We was asking.
You know, now, those people that were
asking, they're all dead and in jail.
So now, what do you think we're going to do?
This is where we are headed, America, and you did it
to yourself. Please give former governor of Mississippi, Phil Bryant and Brett Favre, the biggest
hee-haw, please.
All right.
Well, thank you for that donkey today.
Now, up next, we have the woman from The Woman King joining us.
The movie came out this week and did like.
The Women of The Woman King.
You said The Woman of The Woman King.
The Women of The Woman King. As if it's just one woman in the whole movie. 19. The Women of the Woman King. But that's it. You said the Woman of the Woman King. The Women of the Woman King.
As if it's just one woman in the whole movie.
Nah, the Women of the Woman King.
And it came out this weekend and it did, I think, over $19 million.
I think it did like $19 million.
$19 million.
That's right.
So we're going to talk to them next.
Is it number one?
Yes.
Oh, okay.
Dropping the clues bombs for the Woman King.
Now, I think it's very, we need to be honest with the people.
We recorded this on Friday.
We did.
Okay.
All right.
So it's Viola Davis, Queen Viola Davis, Gina Blythewood.
Blythewood.
And I'm going to mess this sister's name up.
Thuso Bedu?
Bedu.
Thuso Bedu.
Thuso Bedu.
Yeah.
Bedu.
Okay.
All right.
So we're going to talk to them next.
So don't move.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired?
Depressed?
A little bit revolutionary?
Consider this.
Start your own country.
I planted the flag.
I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete.
Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen It's surprisingly easy.
The Waikana tried my country.
My forefathers did that themselves.
What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up their territory.
I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
Bullets.
We need help!
We still have the off-road portion to go.

but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
It's okay.

Hey there, my little creeps.
It's your favorite ghost host, Teresa.

Let's just say things get a bit extra.
We're talking spirits, demons, and the kind of supernatural chaos that'll make your spooky season complete.
You know how much I love this time of year.
It's the one time I'm actually on trend.
So grab your pumpkin spice, dust off that
Ouija board. Just don't call me unless
it's urgent. And tune in for
new episodes every week.
Remember, the veils are thin,
the stories are spooky, and
your favorite ghost host is back
and badder than ever.
Listen to Haunting on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
It is a moment of movement.
Yes.
Now, how difficult was it for you to get in that type of shape?
Because from the pre-meal, I mean, it was a lot.
It looked like you did your own stunts and everything.
Yes, we did, and it was a lot. Hour and like you did your own stunts and everything. Yes, we did. And it was a lot.
Hour and a half of weight training every day.
And heavy weights because they wanted me to be really bulky.
So you could believe I could take down 250-pound men.
Three and a half hours of martial arts after the weight training.
You know, weaponry training.
You know, punching, elbows.
Running 10.0 on the treadmill.
Wow. Which, you know,
when you start running,
your
heart rate goes up and you lose oxygen.
And I'm over 50.
So the fact that I'm alive and sitting here
is a testament.
Are you ready for somebody to try you?
Just to show.
If you look at people differently now,
hold up, roll up.
I'm going to hold up, hold up.
But that's a powerful feeling to be able to just really transform
your body like that.
You think you'll incorporate this training like just forever
into your life now, some of it?
We're still at it.
We're still at it.
Yeah, we still work out together, all three of us.
They come to my house and we complain.
Yeah.
You know, but yeah you know but you
know for me and two so can attest to that it's getting into the mindset of
the warrior that mindset of either you fight or you die yeah you know because
as actors you can't just transform the body you have to transform even inward
yeah we are after all at the end of the day,
playing people.
And, I mean, I don't know.
I don't walk through my life
except with my child.
If you come for my child,
I'll try to kill you.
Right.
But really, every day,
I don't have fight or die
sort of spirit.
So for people that don't know,
let's break down what the woman king is
about. This incredible group of elite
female warriors who
defended their kingdom, defended their people
at a time when they were at a great
crossroads of which way they were going to go.
And
it just tells the story of this incredible kingdom
that was
different than any other kingdom in all of Africa.
And it's based on a true story, right?
Because this is the real life Dora Milaje.
Yeah.
Right?
Absolutely.
Yeah, that's the incredible thing.
These women were real.
So many of us have never heard of them, never were taught about them.
So to be able to go to the movies, see yourself reflected up on screen,
how you've never seen it heroically, we think it's going to be a game changer.
It's exciting for me because I've never seen black women in a role like this.
And I love movies like 300 and Apocalypto
where you see all the fighting and running and excitement.
But to see these powerful black women,
I just feel like this is something that is life-changing for us.
I saw that you said, Gina, that when you read the script,
you knew even before you finished that you wanted to
do this movie. Yeah, for real. Five pages in.
Wow.
It's written that these women rise
up from the grasses about to go ham
on some men who
took their women prisoner.
And for me, my mindset
athlete
wanting to put us up on screen, I wanted
to see that image. I wanted to be the one to
shoot that image. Yeah, I'm glad y'all did this
too because I'm a big comic book guy, so I always
knew that Dora Milaje was based off
a real crew of
women, but I never did the research on it.
I never went to go look about the Dahomey Amazon.
So this is a great educational piece, I
think. And Viola, you produced
this also, right?
My production company with my husband Julius Tennant, we produced the movie.
We fought for it for seven years.
Seven years.
Seven years.
Wow.
Seven year fight.
It's always hard to get a movie done in Hollywood.
A miracle.
Anyone has a hard time.
But us especially have a hard time.
Do you think this is going to start a shift in Hollywood where instead of the narratives of
the enslaved, we get those stories all the time,
we'll get more of these stories showing our
warrior spirit?
We have to.
As you said, it's time. It's what we love
so much about this film.
Again, so many of us are
taught, certainly in America, that our history
begins with enslavement, and there was so much
more going on
before that, where we
truly do come from kingdoms and warriors
and kings. So
with the success of this, it has to open
that door. Actually, keep that door open that
Black Panther kicked open for us.
We want to keep that door open for others
to tell these stories.
We had John up here the other day. He said...
John Boyega. Boyega, yeah. He said this was his easiest robe
because he said...
He didn't have to train.
He was like,
which robe am I going to wear?
That was a tough decision
to decide which robe he was wearing
because he said,
you guys did the work
and he said it was amazing
watching you guys
really get in the play.
He said he loved it though.
And he felt very comfortable on set
because there were so many
black women around.
Yes, he did.
Oh, yes, he did.
He said y'all would tell him
if he had a crust in his lip
or a crust in his eye.
You know, he was very excited about that now the thing about john that was amazing about his involvement is he normally obviously he's a leading man yeah um but he came aboard this he
used his power to help us get this made help us get that green light um he obviously wanted to
work with v but that was big He just wanted to be there to support
black women. And he was incredible on set. He came when he wasn't shooting just to watch, to take it
in, to take in the environment. So he, yeah, he was a king. How many no's did you get before you
got the yes? And what reason would they give you to say this isn't going to work or we're passing? Well, it's any number of things. It could be
fighting for the actors. A black actress, especially dark-skinned black actress, is not
going to have the same resume as a white actor. So then you have to fight for them because
everything is about what you've done before, how much money that movie made that you did before you have to fight for the director you know the studios
approved directors who are the steven spielbergs the christopher nolans the david finchers they
have their own movies that they don't have to do woman king you know you have to fight for the
budget you have to fight you you know what you have to fight for everything even hair and
makeup okay because there's no precedent i just have to add this because gina said it so i have
to keep it going it's the whole idea of support And supporting is different than just helping.
Supporting is caring. You're always
that net that's always there.
And the thing about our movies,
this is a predominantly
black female-led movie.
There is no white savior in it.
If you do not plop your money
down to see the movie,
then it is going to be really hard
for the next black artist to come into that room and get a movie green then it is going to be really hard for the next black artist to
come into that room and get a movie greenlit.
It's going to be 10, 15, 20 years because we will set a precedent that we did a movie
that y'all didn't want to see.
And it's as simple as that.
It's not like, OK, we just didn't want to see this movie.
No, you don't want to see dark skinned women driving the narrative in narrative and in a global box office now we got more with viola davis to so they do also gina
beithewood so don't move it's the breakfast club good morning everybody it's dj envy angela yee
charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club we're still kicking it with the women from the
woman king which is in theaters right now viola davis to Tussauds, Beidou, Gina Bythewitt. Now, Charlamagne?
What do roles like this make you feel
about American patriarchy and the
roles they tell us men and women are supposed to play?
Come on,
come on, Tussauds.
Gina. Well,
it's not necessarily just American
patriarchy. I think it's globally.
Global. We see it back in
South Africa as well.
Just from my history, I know that the shows that i've been been on in south africa were extremely hard to
be commissioned because again dark-skinned black women aren't sellable as far as people are
concerned and um this i think this movie will show the opposite it shows you know the humanity
of the dark skinned black woman
it shows that we are people
who are talented we've got something of value
to add and that whatever the
system has deemed as the standard
isn't necessarily true
Gina why was it important for a woman especially a woman of color
to direct A Woman King
it had to be from my point of view
Arlen's what I brought to it like as a director a woman of color to direct a woman king man it had to be from our point of view our lens um what
i brought to it like as a director it's a vision it's my vision what do i want the audience to see
how do i want these women portrayed um i just think somebody else who didn't have the love
of our people love of these women they may have made a movie that was just about kick-ass women
killing and that's it but i wanted to show
our humanity i knew we needed to see our humanity and that's that's the thing why more of us have to
tell our own stories is because our lens we're putting the camera on what we want to see um
and it makes a huge difference so how is it how important is it for black americans to have a
connection to the motherland i think so from what
i've observed um and i talk about it with most of my friends is there is an identity that was
stripped from african americans when you know they were taken from this land i have a confidence in
me that i cannot possibly fathom you know what life would be like without knowing who I am.
You know, again, I was talking to my friend about this the other day that, yes, we had apartheid.
And, you know, we have our own system that oppressed us, but we still knew where we came from.
I can say I am of the Zulu tribe, you know, King Shaga, and I can trace my history.
I can take my confidence in that my king fought A, B, and C to see XYZ happen. And so for
African Americans, that was taken from them. And so there's, I'm noticing this
constant search for something that cannot be filled by anything that this space might hold.
And tracing whatever, Africa might be the answer to that.
Ms. Davis and Gina, I'd love for you all to answer that question, too.
What we did intentionally on this film,
because oftentimes you hear a little bit of conflict,
is that we wanted this cast to come from all over diaspora.
So we had African-American actors, South African, West African,
London, Jamaican, Ugandan.
We wanted all of them to come together so that it was black women telling the story of our ancestors together.
And, of course, you celebrate each other's cultures,
but it was black women as a collective,
and that's a vibe we wanted on set.
And that's what we wanted to put up on screen and hopefully inspire to stop the division because we
all came from the same place. Well, I've felt like I've spent my whole life running and chasing and
trying to find me, you know, because I've been defined by a culture that really has had a very definitive
idea of who I was. And it's been negative in order to control, in order to just suppress.
And so when I went to Africa for the first time when I was 25, it changed my life. It just blew, once again, a hole in it.
I was coming from Juilliard where the big thing was disappearing,
trying to become a perfectly white actor with speech training
and trying to lose weight, which never happened.
And I don't know why I was trying to make it happen.
But once again that's
when I went to Africa I saw the why that's what I saw I saw the why and I can't say that I'm
I'm not still in search of because I'm not African so I don't know what tribe I'm from
I still don't know that I don't know that I'm Zulu. I don't know
what my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather
could have done, but I just know
that there's something else out there
that I was
that America
has not given me.
You're from South Carolina like me,
so it's probably West African. I didn't mind.
I'm West African. It's Senegal,
Guinea-Bissau, and Sierra Le my no see I'm Kenyan Cameroon
yeah oh wow okay yeah I'm gonna ask you know for for people that don't understand
you guys had to fight so much for to put your product out of what you wanted
whether it was this film or love basketball why do you continue to fight
and not let go because it would have been easy to say, you know what, let's go to another movie.
But in all those cases, the movies that you did became classics
and the fact that our people love them.
Why is it so important to continue to fight even if they say no and shut you out?
Because it was easy just to let go.
It is.
Because if I don't fight, they won't get made.
And then we won't see ourselves.
And that is absolutely my goal, is to put us up on screen to be inspired by.
I learned early on in my career, it just takes one yes.
And that's the thing.
Fight, fight, fight until you get that one yes.
And you do that when you're doing things that you're passionate about.
The passion fuels the fight.
If I was doing stuff
where I just thought,
well, maybe Hollywood would buy this,
then it's easy to give up.
But I tell stories
that mean something to me
that's going to mean something to us
and that I'm passionate about.
Part of the story is also
Africans assisting in the slave trade.
Was it harder to get those roles filled?
Because nobody wanted to play that role.
I would think. Unless some people like being the villain.
It was about
we're being truthful with the story.
And every single role
is necessary. And it is brave
to take on a role like that.
And props to Hero finds Tiffin who
played the... Oh, I was about to ruin
the movie.
Wow.
I'm glad it's you, Jim.
There were a couple roles.
But it's important because it's important to tell the story.
And we need those people.
And we were going to go in and tell the truth.
I think that's going to be new to a lot of people,
especially a younger generation.
They're going to be like, really?
Everything's assisted in the slave trade?
Yeah, I mean,
the, like, globally,
every single civilization participated in some way,
you know?
But for us,
it was having our women,
our Goji women,
and the Niska.
She represents those
within the kingdom
who were pushing for change.
And that's what
they ultimately did.
What do you want people
to take away from the woman king i never want to tell an audience what to take away they who knows
how it's going to land on them i have no idea but i know that i have a 12 year old daughter who saw
the movie and she cried profusely wow okay. And then she said she was so proud of me.
And then I get all of her text messages on her phone.
She showed me a text message that she was going back and forth with a friend who had also seen the movie.
And they said, oh, wasn't she great?
Wasn't Tuto great?
Wasn't Lashana?
Oh, my God.
It was literally art.
And then she says, and I'm not just saying that because it's my mom.
So she showed me the text message.
And I said, thank you so much.
I text her back because I'm on the road.
And I said, thank you so much, my baby.
And then I wrote in all caps, AGOG with exclamation point. And then I waited, waited,
waited, and I got a buzz on my phone. And the response was, PUSU. And I thought that that was
awesome to inject in my daughter what I didn't have. That sort of spirit of the warrior. It's like whatever you dream,
whatever you dream is beyond fear.
You know?
And that was everything.
Brought me to tears.
Amen.
Go support the woman king.
Everybody go see the woman king now.
It is out in theaters.
Thank you so much, guys, for joining us.
Check out the woman king.
It's the Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Thank you, ladies.
Thank you so much. the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Thank you, ladies. Thank you so much.
The Breakfast Club.
Responded to these charges.
Now, according to the statement, they said Mr. Shaka Zulu, the beloved son of the city of Atlanta,
is disappointed in the Atlanta Police Department's decision to bring charges against him surrounding the shooting that occurred in June 2022.
A close review of all of the evidence
including surveillance footage and eyewitness interviews reveal that Mr. Zulu was attacked
and jumped from behind by a gang of at least four individuals sadly including the deceased and was
forced to defend himself after this gang repeatedly stomped punched and kicked him while he was on the
ground in a defenseless posture in an attempt to save his life he lawfully
discharged his weapon in self-defense a weapon that he was licensed to carry and so the narrative
i guess now they want to make sure that you know he doesn't end up going to jail for defending
himself when he could have potentially gotten killed in this incident yeah yeah i don't understand
this one at all like does the standing ground law not apply to black people not to mention he was his place of business. I feel like if that was a white person at his place of business and that happened, not only would charges not be pressed, the people who jumped him would be arrested. And how is there footage of him getting jumped and shot? And did I read correctly that nobody's been arrested for that yet?
No, just shocker.
Huh?
How did that make sense he surrendered to authority september 13th he bonded out the
same day and he was one of three people that was shot in that incident at that time what was
reported was several men got into an argument and several shots were fired and shaka was one of the
people who was struck one person was uh killed and another person was injured i mean i'm sure he'll
you know beat that when he goes to court but I want to know why was he charged to begin
with? Right. Imagine
you're fighting for your life, all of this happens,
you're jumped and attacked, and then
now you're being charged. And Georgia's
definitely a standing ground
state. Yep.
Alright, now Post Malone
had a really nasty onstage fall.
I mean, that looked painful. I guess there was
a ramp and a hole in the floor that had been used to lower his guitar. I mean, that looked painful. I guess there was a ramp and a hole in the floor
that had been used to lower his guitar.
It's like a trap door.
And somebody did not cover it up.
And so you can see Post Malone go down really hard
and he's laying on the ground for several minutes
holding on to his rib cage.
And eventually he was able to get off of the stage.
He did promise his fans he would be back
and he did come back about 10 minutes later,
but he looked really injured.
Here's Post Malone.
So whenever we do the acoustic part of the show,
the guitars on the guitar stand,
and it goes down,
there's this big hole,
so I go around there,
and I turn the corner and bust my a**.
Winding me pretty good.
We just got back from the hospital,
and everything's good.
Everything's good.
They gave me some pain meds and everything so we can keep kicking.
On the tour, I just want to apologize to everyone in St. Louis.
And I want to say thank you guys so much for coming to the show.
That's the kind of lawsuit people hope for.
Who do you sue in a situation like that?
Like when he's out.
Yeah, someone neglected to do something.
Yes.
But that's his stage set up though, right? I don't care.
Somebody gotta get sued.
When he's out walking to that convenience store on Friday
and laid out on the floor and said, my neck, my back,
my neck and my back. That's what he was hoping for.
That type of lawsuit right there. That's a big lawsuit.
Now people initially
were saying that he broke his ribs, but he bruised
his ribs. Which, by the way, I bruised my ribs
before. That is extremely painful when you try
to breathe, you can't laugh, sit down, move and everything but i can't imagine what breaking them would be like
but he did bruise his ribs it hurts when brief is that what you're saying yes it did i'm sure
all right and nikki minaj and jt were on instagram live together and this is the part that everybody
was talking about and they did clear this up afterward Nicki Minaj brought up the fact that JT had made a diss about her years ago and wanted her to wrap that
This like is against me and the call
No finish it keep it going wait Nikki can't rip my ****** beat. She ain't even from the streets. I was in my Jeep, my Lute, and my Race.

Nikki can't rip my ****** beats.
She ain't even from the streets.
I'mma drop you, like, a bag of groceries.
You know what a grocery store would be?
You drop it at the door.
Mm-hmm.
Now, JT went on Twitter and said,
Y'all so delusional.
I wanted to repeat the song I made in my car,
and we was laughing the whole live like a phone combo.
We talked about literally everything, and it was all laughs.
And Nicki Minaj said,
Man, F these duds, babe.
Everyone on the live knows how dope it was from beginning to end.
We were having fun being silly.
That's a little freestyle she was actually making up off the top of her head in her car. y'all keep trying to pull her down i'm gonna go mad hard for her can i hear it

A 15 year old girl in Alabama
Who refused to give up her seat on the city bus
Nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing

Hear that?
That's the sound of your life.
Perfectly imperfect.
Beating in rhythm to the world you've created.
But every time you drive after drinking,
the music gets drowned out.
Your life sounds pretty great.
Don't let a buzz ruin it.
Buzz driving is drunk driving.
Don't drive buzzed.
