Starting point is 00:02:25 Happy to be here, another day to serve our beautiful listeners. Good morning. How y'all feeling, man. How are you feeling? What was your day yesterday? Yesterday was great. What did I do yesterday? I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:02:34 When I wake up in the morning, yesterday was yesterday. Yesterday was yesterday. You know, onward. Today is Tuesday. And, you know, we have a very special guest today. His name is Joey Badass. That's right. Now, you know, Joey Badass.
Starting point is 00:02:45 He blew up in Hollywood. He was in that movie that won an Oscar a few years ago, two distant strangers. He's Mr. Radio on USA, Unique and Raising Canaan. Yep. What else? He was inspected Decc in who on, on, on the Hulu show, on the Hul-Tang show. But he's got a new album coming out.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Let's not forget Joey Badass as a rap. And he can wrap his ass off, lonely at the top. He went, he had a 20V1 going on early this year. He did. He did. He was like him versus, you know, a lot of West Coast. A lot of West Coast artists, you know, like Ray Vaughn and Reason and a bunch of others. But he'll be here to talk about his new album, Lonely at the top,
Starting point is 00:03:20 which would be out August 29th. He'll be here this morning. That's right. We'll be kicking with Joey Badass. And I like Joey, too, man. Because Joey is a brother who learned early, which so many of us learned late. and that is you have to take care of your mental health. You have to take care of your emotional well-being.
Starting point is 00:03:35 I like the fact that the brother is young and he does the work on himself from therapy to meditation, different healing practices. So he'll be here to talk about all that this morning. It's a good brother, good brother. We're going to be kicking me bad ass in a little bit. And then we got front-page news coming up next. We don't talk about the good brothers enough.
Starting point is 00:03:51 You know, we live in an era where it's like everybody always wants to, you know, highlight the digital de-heads. Yes, that's true. The ones we say are doing it wrong. That's right. But what's it doing it right? We don't amplify enough. So glad to see Joey Badass here this morning.
Starting point is 00:04:04 That's right. We're going to be kicking it with Joey Badass. We got Front Page News. What's up, Morgan? Hey, y'all. Hey, how y'all feeling on a Tuesday? Bless Black and Holly favorite. Good.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Auburn said, don't forget about us. You know, we knew him too. We knew him first. No, I'm not going to get too much into that. All right, let's get into what's first on front page. President Trump called yesterday a very successful day so far, or a very successful day while trying to broker a deal to end the Ukraine-Russia war. Trump first had a one-on-one meeting with Ukraine's President Zelensky, who agreed that Trump, that they had a very good conversation.
Starting point is 00:04:37 And so the two also met with European allies and the head of NATO. The president said he's already spoken to Russia's Vladimir Putin by phone, and then he would call him again following that meeting. Now, Trump and Zelensky said any deal that would involve some part of American security for Ukraine to head off any more Russian aggression. Trump said that he believes there might be a three-way meeting soon involving himself, Zelensky, and Putin. Let's take a listen to President Trump. Important discussions as we work to end the killing and stop the war in Ukraine. We're all working for the same goal. Very simple goal.
Starting point is 00:05:11 We want to stop the killing, get this settled. I'm sure we're going to have a solid meeting, good meeting, maybe a great meeting, and we're going to try and work out a trilat after that and see if we can get it finished. put this to sleep because this is not since the Second World War has there been anything like this. He said the meeting was a very good
Starting point is 00:05:33 first step and European leaders suggested increasing pressure on Russia for a ceasefire and Trump responded by saying a ceasefire may not be needed to bring an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine just citing that he's had peace deals on the table with other
Starting point is 00:05:49 countries and but so that a ceasefire didn't necessarily happen But meanwhile, Ukraine Zelensky had positive things to say about the meeting as well. He thanked President Trump and European leaders for being in attendance. Let's take a listen to Ukraine's President Zelensky. I think that we had constructive specific meeting. And I'm very thankful to all the leaders who are here and you help a lot. And so we're happy that we have such big unity today.
Starting point is 00:06:21 I found it very interesting that all those European. allies came to the meeting to ensure something productive was done. Is that normal for all those European leaders to come to a meeting like that between, you know, two countries? I think, I think that if it's, if the situation has escalated in the way that it has, um, for sure, but to your point, I have not seen that recently, you know, fairly recently that it, uh, that there was such a need of that magnitude for everyone to come to the White House at that. I mean, seeing them talk at summits and things of that nature, but for everyone to come to the White House and have these meetings, they had the meeting in front of the press
Starting point is 00:06:54 and then of course they had the private meeting it does indicate that the world essentially is worried about this issue because I thought about how when Zelensky was there I guess the last time and they they sort of like just jumped them you know what I mean? They bullied them. You know they bullied them so the European allies pulled up like
Starting point is 00:07:10 okay you're not going to do that this time y'all going to act right nah for real and Trump you know he had the coup he was you know he's very thankful for them but it does seem like the pressure is pretty much on Trump trying to get that Nobel Peace Prize so he got to act that's right I was going to say he's definitely looking for the peace prize. But again, Trump is hoping to have a three-way meeting between himself, Zelensky, and Putin soon. Now, Zelensky did say that that meeting is supposed to take place.
Starting point is 00:07:35 He confirmed that while speaking to reporters outside of the White House. But he also said that there has not been a date yet set for that meeting. So, of course, he'll keep you guys posted. And to your point, Charlemagne, as you continue to reiterate, it would be nice to see Zelensky and Putin actually have the meeting between themselves, because that's where the conflict lies. It's between their two countries. And, yeah, well, Trump can try to mediate as much as he can. And, you know, we just want to see it into the conflict.
Starting point is 00:08:00 And I think that's essentially what they were saying yesterday as well in that meeting is that, you know, everybody wants peace out of this situation. And I think, you know, what else, Donald Trump has successfully made people stop talking about the Epstein, Fox. I was just about the same. I had, that's so crazy over. Yeah, he successfully made the media stop talking about the Epstein. Over the weekend, I said the same thing. I said, listen, this was the first week.
Starting point is 00:08:23 You hear it up now and then, like, you hear it in sprinkles now. But it's not, you know, dominating the news the way that it should be. Between this and D.C., for sure. Yeah, you got the Epstein files up out of here, at least on the front page news anyway. Meanwhile, Trump is still telling y'all that y'all want transgender to play sports. Oh, Lord. He's still hammering that point home every chance he gets. Well, y'all don't learn nothing.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Y'all don't learn a damn thing. Democrats. That's your front page news for 6 a.m. That's your front page news for 6 a.m. at 7 a.m. We'll talk more about the president and how he's trying to get rid of mail-in ballots. So stick around. All right. Everybody else, get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:09:00 800-58-105-105.1. If you need to vent, phone lines are wide open. Again, 800-58-1-505-101. Call us up right now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. I'm telling.
Starting point is 00:09:14 I'm telling. Hey, what you doing, man? I'm calling you. This is your time to get it off your chat. Whether you're mad or blessed. 800-585-105-1. We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:09:29 Who's Xavier? Xavier, what up? Get it off your chest. Good morning, y'all. How y'all doing, man? Check this out. I got a little thing. It's a therapist later that I'm trying to really get at.
Starting point is 00:09:39 So I feel like if I give a shout-out on her journal, she might let me get at a... Who's the trainer. It's called The Invitation. She's a family and a man. therapist, so I just wanted to see if she listened to her, will she give me a shot? Will she give you a shot? Why don't you book a session
Starting point is 00:09:56 would it? No, that would be kind of predatory. That would be kind of Chris. No, you can't do that. You book a section and she won't be able to talk to you for like 10 years, I think. Oh, Lord. Wow. I thought about that. What did you meet her at? I met at the grocery store. Why you ain't hollered at the grocery store? I did, man, but, you know, she told me if I purchased
Starting point is 00:10:14 a journal, so look, I thought if I bought a journal, can y'all a couple journals? Then I might get it like that. I don't know what you're talking about, but feel free to send the journals up, sir. Good luck, brother. All right, appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I mean, I don't want you to sound so defeated and deflated. I'm just saying, I just don't understand how that's going to work. Like, if you met her at the gross, though, why don't you just talk to her directly? Like, why are you going all indirect through the breakfast club and everything else? Well, why don't I give a journal a shout out, then don't you think that it works as well? So support.
Starting point is 00:10:44 So her journal? She didn't take out on date. What's her journal? Yeah, her journal. Okay, what's it called? It's taught the invitation. is he's a marriage and family therapist out of Houston, Texas.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Okay, well hopefully she'll listen to her. Okay, I'm going to send this tour so I can speak in the work. Oh, you're going to send this clip to her? Yes. Hey, both of y'all need to come to my Mental Welfth Expo in October. I'll be announcing that soon. See, y'all might and, you know, meet each other face-to-face there. A lot of people be hooking up that weekend, by the way.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Yeah? I mean, just because it's a weekend of, you know, we bring people in town, and that's when people, like, really get to communicate and, you know, I don't know if people would be hooking up. I just made that up. that up here. I'll be honest with you. I have no idea. Get it off your chest. 800
Starting point is 00:11:23 585-105.1. If you need the vent, hit us up now. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Get it off your chest is sponsored by Michael the Bull Lamansoff. And now the Fowler 105-1 traffic report. This report is
Starting point is 00:11:41 sponsored by Jeep. Big delays on 95 Sappon, heading through Westchester County. There is construction still in place from the overnight between Mameranac Avenue and Chatsworth Avenue, there's only one left lane getting by. That's going to be really slow. If you're in a non-commercial, definitely go with the hutch instead. That is so much better. Now, out of the Bronx and the Queens, not good on the Whitestone Bridge.
Starting point is 00:12:01 There's a stall vehicle along the right side of the roadway. So stick with the Throgsneck, if you can, on the stretch of 24 Westbun and Short Hills. This is an overturned tractor trailer crash by Exit 7, JFK Parkway. I'm Bernie Viter from the W.O.R. Newsroom. Get ready, Brooklyn. The Deep Brand is rolling in the Domino Square Park, August 22, and 23rd for the exciting reveal of the all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee. Fun for the whole family, free and open to the public.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Visit jeep.com for details. Again, back right now. Back to the world's most dangerous morning show, The Breakfast Club. If this world were mine. Hey, Roman rule seven days, drop it like it's hot.
Starting point is 00:12:50 If this world was mine, I take your dreams and make them most apply. If this world was mine, I take your hand of me's in front of God. Introduce them to that light. Get through strictly with that fire. Five, five, five, five, five, five, five. It's a new day. This is your time to get it off your chest. Wait, wake up.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Whether you're mad or blast. It's time to get up and get something. Call up now. 800-585-1051. We want to hear from you on the Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? That's Nick out of Florida. I wanted to talk about the trucking the economy
Starting point is 00:13:24 and behind here and what's going on. What's up, Nick, sir. I talk to different drivers on a daily basis, and a lot of guys coming from over the road and coming back home and trying to work local. And there's just an oversaturation of truck drivers down here now, and everybody is trying to get whatever loads is available and doing it for real cheap.
Starting point is 00:13:48 And it's like nobody, no truck, the trucking economy down here is just going to collapse. These brokers are like taking all the money for themselves, not trying to pay the truckers what the load is actually worth because they know there's so many truck drivers down here. And from what I'm talking to a lot of these drivers, they're saying that when Trump passed the law to where if you can't speak English, then they're going to take your license. That took a lot of the overroad drivers from over the road that's brought. them back home because they figured if they're going to lose their license at least they're closer to home now and now these guys are are doing loads for like gas money basically if you
Starting point is 00:14:29 ask me damn yeah i've been saying i watch shipping wars and i don't know if it's it relates to life but i see everybody undercutting each other to get these loads in and nobody's really making no more money yeah um i had a contract with i had a dedicated route with lg and we lost it to uber freight because they're doing it for like literally half the price and they're doing double the work for half the price and it's like I can't compete with that I'm a I'm an owner operator I'm not a big company like Amazon that's who took over the contract Amazon FedEx and ABF they're the ones that's taking over the contract from a smaller guy because they're doing it for half the price and up it's like I can't compete with that so I got a family to feed I can't do that so what's the solution
Starting point is 00:15:14 or is there a solution at the moment? Like, what would y'all need to happen to get the trucker economy booming again? Well, the truckers themselves, I mean, I understand it. I own my truck and I own my trailer, so I don't have no payments to, you know, to submit to that say,
Starting point is 00:15:30 okay, I have to take this load so I can make this payment. You got people that's coming into the trucking business that got a $700, $800 a week trucking bill plus their trailer, $600. a week, you know, plus fuel. So I get it. They got to do the work to make the money to pay their bills.
Starting point is 00:15:51 So that's why they're taking every little thing that they can get. But what has to happen is we have to have a base minimum of every load that we do. It doesn't matter if, like, it doesn't matter if the load is five minutes away. For me, it has to be a minimum of like $300, $400 for us to do that load. You got people that's taking that load for $200. Hey, I'm going to be honest with you, man. I respect this trucker economy conversation, but if I hear you say you got to take a load one more time,
Starting point is 00:16:21 I'm not mature enough to have these kind of conversations. You just keep talking about all these loads that you got to take as a man. What is wrong with you, man? Salute to all the truckers out there, man. I still don't hear the solution. I want to see how we can help. I really don't know if there's a solution. You know, a lot of people got their CDC licenses
Starting point is 00:16:39 and they're carrying Paul's loads. CDL, you mean? CDL, yeah, CDLs are, man. And they're carrying loads. So it's like, it's more and more truckers out there. There's more and more people that the brokers are getting a lot more money. I really don't know what they could do. If you're taking all them loads, you need to be a porno star.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Oh, shut up, man. Hello, who's this? KG from Kansas City, man. What's going on? What's up, bro? How are you feeling? You go off your chest. You sound like you got to blunt in your hand right now.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Nah, I'm working, man. I'm in my, bitch, my man. This is a test right here. I don't know, y'all heard that. The what? What'd you say? Yeah, man, I got a beef, man with all three of y'all, man. All three of us.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Wow, what we do? Yeah, what happened? Because, for one, Jess, don't never come to Kansas City, man. You're always talking about some foreign states and stuff, man. He'll never come to Kansas City. What's a foreign state? Hey, yo, stop. I haven't been there in a long time.
Starting point is 00:17:29 I used to come to Kansas City all the time. I used to go to both, Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri. Where are you at? What? I'm in Kansas City, Missouri. You know how we feel about being called Kansas. We don't do that on that other side I know that's why I had to distinguish the difference
Starting point is 00:17:45 I said I'd go to Kansas And then I've been to Missouri as well I will be there, sir I'm very sorry about you. She don't like Taylor Swift So ever since Taylor Swift started hanging out in Kansas City so much You don't want to be around here
Starting point is 00:17:54 I actually love Taylor Swift It's always the Dallas Cowboy fan church Yo yo yo relax Relax And envy man What's up with the Carson show You don't never come this way Man I heard you tell a old girl
Starting point is 00:18:08 That it was hard to get this way to the mid-west. I mean, we need to make that happen. Yeah, I mean, it's an 18-hour drive, and if, you know, putting cars on them trucks to drive 18 hours is very expensive. Because, like, they said, the gas is expensive driving all them trucks now.
Starting point is 00:18:23 So it makes it very, very high expensive. We're going to try to get to the Midwest. I don't know if we're going to get to Kansas. To a boss, man, you got it? No, I ain't got it. I got six kids. I ain't got it. You got to take some more loads.
Starting point is 00:18:33 You got to take some more loads. And then, Charlie, man. Can I get a book, man? I know how to read, too. Hey, yo. Yeah, I'll send you a book, brother. I'll send you a book. Don't get no barbecue sauce all over the book, man.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I know how y'all doing Kansas City, okay? Yo, you're a corner. All right, man. All right, man. I appreciate you, man. Hey, y'all have a blessed day, man. Keep doing that work for us. We appreciate you, King.
Starting point is 00:18:56 All right, brother. Get it off your chest. 800-585-105-105-1. We got the latest with Lauren coming up. What are we talking about? We do. We're going to start this morning talking with Wendy Williams because she may be taking legal action
Starting point is 00:19:07 in this whole conservators shit back and forth. And I don't know, y'all, I don't think it's looking too good for her about getting out this conservatorship. We're going to talk about it. Dang. All right. Have you spoke to her? I haven't spoke to her directly, but I talked to her attorney over the weekend
Starting point is 00:19:19 and I've spoke to some. Don't tell us. Yeah, we'll do it when we come back. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Why y'all love slow songs so much in the morning? People trying to wake up.
Starting point is 00:19:32 You know what I'm saying? It's why people would be smoking because you're doing cocaine early in the morning. Cooking an energy drink. I'm just saying. Coffee. I'm sorry. You got some residuals? Yeah, that's a lie.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Could have went to any else with it. Slow song. People trying to wake up, man. Wake people to hell up. All right. Good morning. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Lauren becoming a straight fat. Tell us. Tell us. Man. She gets them from somebody that knows somebody. She gets to detail. I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything. She'd be having the latest on this.
Starting point is 00:19:59 That's the latest. The latest with Lauren La Rosa. Sometimes you have facts. Sometimes you have details. Sometimes she have a little bit of everything. Well, it's the latest. on the breakfast club Talk to me
Starting point is 00:20:10 So Wendy Williams attorney Joe Takapina We know him because he also worked with A set Rocky in the case as well too He told me over the weekend That they are definitely exploring The idea of taking legal action Following Wendy's medical records
Starting point is 00:20:23 Being allegedly leaked to the media So we talked about this last week Remember it was a story about Her testing is done And then a source confirmed That she had been found That it came out That she actually has the dementia
Starting point is 00:20:36 and all the things that they were claiming, according to that source. So Joe Tecapena was pissed off. He was really, really mad. When I spoke to him, he said that this is a clear violation of the Hippelaw, even if the report is false, because he's still saying that this report is false. Now, Wendy has been out over the weekend. She ran into page six. She looks good, but there's one video where she's talking about Joe Tecapena being upset.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Listen to the audio. Wendy, how are you tonight, and what brings you out? Coming out to eat, it's dinner time. And any reactions to your medical report that does hold up the dementia diagnosis? No, and my attorneys are highly upset. They are? Yes. My attorneys, my attorneys are highly upset.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Okay, good. Diamond, yeah. And what about the, do you have anything you want to say to your conservator? I want to say hi to my attorney. Alan Diamond, all right. And Joe. Cool. Joe Takapina.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Cool. Those are my attorneys. And I will get out of guardianship. I saw the video over the weekend. She does not look okay. She didn't look good in that video. So there was two. That video, she's walking with it.
Starting point is 00:21:52 What do it mean she didn't look good? She looked sick? She didn't look. Explain it. Just all the different faces. And at one point, she seemed like she was about to cry and break down. And then, like, she's like snapped back into it. And I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:03 It's different. She just does not look okay. She was talking very slow just now. Yes, and then there's another video where... A comma after every word. Oh, yeah, a big pause after every word. But there's another video from this weekend as well where she looks a lot better than what you're talking about.
Starting point is 00:22:18 And she's talking a bit better. But, I mean, it's still a lot different than we've seen her. But according to, like, you know, how they've been trying to... The conservatives have been trying to present this whole dementia thing. It's like she can go in and out of it. So I don't know. Like, we don't know. I mean, that's what happens with dementia.
Starting point is 00:22:33 You do go in and out of it until you are, you know, until it gets to a stage where you can't. You can't get out of it anymore. But I agree with you though. She didn't look good in that first video. And the reason why I was saying earlier that I don't think it's looking good for her is because at this point, what it's seeming like is the things that
Starting point is 00:22:49 her family, the attorneys that they're arguing about, it just doesn't seem like they're ever going to come to a resolve. Where did it go wrong? Because at one time, I thought it was going in a good direction and she possibly, yeah, had a good chance of leaving and then all of a sudden it just spiraled out of control.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Well, the conservative are still saying the same thing. Sabrina Morrissey doesn't want to be the conservator. She wants to figure out exactly what is going on with Wendy Healthwise, which is why these tests happened or did not. And then they find a new conservator, then they figured out. But it's all dependent on these tests.
Starting point is 00:23:20 And I'm being told two different things. Like I literally read a letter that said that the tests were complete. It did not have her medical diagnosis in it, though, which is why they're upset because somewhere somehow a diagnosis got given to somebody. And that was given to the judge. But Joe Tocopina is saying there's an independent doctor. who was supposed to do these tests. I don't know if they're arguing semantics.
Starting point is 00:23:37 It just seems like it's going nowhere at this point. So, yes. But in other news. I'll just say it felt like things were moving a lot more, a lot more positively when Gina Lisa was at the helm. Yeah, like Gina was holding it down. That was the woman who was helping Wendy figure out like, almost like as a consultant,
Starting point is 00:23:57 figure out like who should be on our team, what should be done. When she gets out of conservatorship, what does that look like? because she still will need a bit more help. You know, she's talked about other health issues. I feel like things have gone off the rail since Gina hasn't been around. It's all over the place right now. To Gina, drop on the clues bonds with Gina Lisa. Yeah, I agree.
Starting point is 00:24:13 This really makes you think if you have older parents or even yourself to make sure that you put yourself in a predicament or in a situation where you have somebody that you can trust. Not a predicament, then you want to position. Just prepare. Yeah, prepare for, you know, that somebody that you can trust can take care of you. And that you don't put yourself in this situation like this. Well, speaking of Gladys Knight.
Starting point is 00:24:32 So Gladys Knight, currently on tour with Shaka Khan, Stephanie Mills as a part of the Queen's tour, and Patty LaBelle. And her son actually filed some paperwork in North Carolina claiming that she is being, or alleging that she's being mentally and financially abused by her current boyfriend. Now, I'm glad as night had to come out and release a statement. So we have the statement. The statement says, I'm sorry that my health and performances have been misrepresented. She says, I want my fans and those concerns to rest assured I'm doing. doing well for someone who has been on stage for three quarters of a century, hard to believe, right?
Starting point is 00:25:07 I'm healthy and I'm happy. I'm visiting friends and family these last few months. I'm excited to get back on the road with my sisters on stage during the Queen's tour, see you soon. So she had to come out and make that statement because her son is alleging that her boyfriend who is, you know, a bit younger than her.
Starting point is 00:25:20 It's taken advantage of her. And her son is saying she should not be on stage. It's not helping her. She looks happy in the videos that I've seen though. So behind the scenes is obviously some issues. Yeah. It's funny when you say things like that. She looks happy in the videos I've seen that's all you saw was a video that was probably two three minutes long
Starting point is 00:25:36 Like you know what I'm saying like when people make these statements they're making them because they're with These people for long periods of time way longer than we see them Oh they seen something we didn't see you know like some behind the scenes They see something that made it make them feel this is wild how social media people work and how we just work Because we see somebody for three minutes be like she looked fine to me I see that video What do we have the go off of because she herself she's saying she's okay Think about that But then her son is saying
Starting point is 00:26:02 no. Because her son is with her all the time. You ever thought about that? Yes. And her son has been with her for her whole life. So he would know when something's wrong. Gladys Knight is 81 years old. So if something's going on, she might not want to show what's going on.
Starting point is 00:26:17 She might not want to say what's going on. But if she, it might keep her going and be able to get out of stage. By the way, I don't know what's wrong with her, but we've all been. Or something is wrong with her. Yes. And we've been all been, we've been in situations where we've seen, you know, when old the people start to break down, they never. They're always the last to know.
Starting point is 00:26:34 That's my point. So there's been an instance where her son has talked about, to you guys' point, that there was one time during like a New Year's Eve party where for like 45 minutes he says that, you know, her memory struggled and she couldn't even remember who he was while talking to him. So he feels like she's just on cruise control right now. So she's like her being on stage and performing and doing all this touring.
Starting point is 00:26:54 It's not helping her. So he wanted her to sit down somewhere. Yeah, he wants her to, you know, he wanted to sit down. Yep. mom you too mom you're getting up there I'm starting to see things not be the way they used to be I need you to sit down somewhere mom I think I care about you
Starting point is 00:27:10 But you know sometimes when you get to that age where you just want to do what you want to do Sometimes performing keeps you alive Sometimes you don't want to just sit down and relax You want to work The older you get the more stubborn you are Like that's just how it is She's been doing the same thing for a long time
Starting point is 00:27:26 And it's her pattern Yeah And her Gladys nice son is saying that like her husband who he's saying is misusing his power. He says, I've given him room to be her husband and do her thing, but now I'm stepping in. I'm not trying to overstep. But yeah, but as her son, I just feel like this was going on.
Starting point is 00:27:40 But I think you look at people like, you know, Wendy, she keeps talking about doing a podcast and getting back on air last night, so she wants to get back on stage where her sister is in tour. So maybe it's just that thing. But if there's any more updates here because she did release this statement
Starting point is 00:27:53 and she says she's okay, we'll let you know. That's what's up. Oh, and before we get out of here, guys, the glasses that I had on yesterday were called the OMGs. These are the city girls. You use the promo code again, Wake, W-A-K-E. If you want 20% off your messy-vision eyewear.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Messy-Vision-E-Ware.com. It's all girl groups? What do you mean? OMG girls or in that city-girl? No, no, no, it's not. This is one style. So, no, you actually bought that to my attention, but no, it's not. These are the city girls.
Starting point is 00:28:19 And yesterday was the OMG. So thank you guys for helping me sell out the OMGs. Absolutely. Oh, they sold out. Yes, they will be back in stock next week. Thanks to listeners. All right. Now, when we come back,
Starting point is 00:28:29 we got front page news and then Joey Badass will be joining us. So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envi. Just hilarious. Shalomania guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get back in some front page news. What's up, Morgan? All right. So I definitely want to talk about Trump trying to eliminate mail and ballots. But first, let me get into a weather update on Aaron. The first hurricane of
Starting point is 00:28:49 2025 Atlantic season is still a dangerous category three storm this morning. At last check, the National Hurricane Center said Aaron's maximum sustained winds had dropped from 125 miles per hour to 115 miles per hour. Forecasters say Aaron could bring high surf and possible tropical storm conditions to parts of the Bahamas and the U.S. Atlantic coast this week. Now that includes North Carolina's outer banks where coastal flooding could...

Starting point is 00:30:12 American history is full of wise people. What women said something like, you know, 99.99% of war is diarrhea and 1% is gory. Those founding fathers were gossipy AF, and they love to cut each other down. I'm Bob Crawford, host of American History Hotline, the show where you send us your questions about American history, and I find the answers, including the nuggets of wisdom our history has to offer. Hamilton pauses, and then he says, the greatest man that ever lived was Julius Caesar. And Jefferson writes in his diary, this proves that Hamilton is for a dictator based. on corruption. My favorite line was what Neil Armstrong said. It would have been harder to fake it than to do it. Listen to American History Hotline on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
Starting point is 00:31:06 you get your podcasts. I'm Hunter, host of Hunting for Answers on the Black Effect Podcast Network. Join me every weekday as I share bite-sized stories of missing and murdered black women and girls in America. There are several ways we can. can all do better at protecting black women. My contribution is shining a light on our missing sisters and amplifying their disregarded stories. Stories like Tamika Anderson. As she drove toward Galvez, she was in contact with several people, talking on the phone
Starting point is 00:31:41 as she made her way to what should have been a routine transaction. But Tamika never bought the car. And she never returned home that day. One podcast, one mission, save our girls. Join the search as we explore the chilling cases of missing and murdered black women and girls. Listen to hunting for answers every weekday on the Black Effect Podcast Network,
Starting point is 00:32:07 iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming and you don't know who's next to you.
Starting point is 00:33:03 And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It would become a problem by late Wednesday. North Carolina's Outer Banks is also under a tropical storm warning. Along the Jersey shore, some communities have already banned swimming at their beaches because of dangerous surf conditions. The storm is creating.
Starting point is 00:33:28 Now, Aaron is currently turning about 750 miles south, southeast of Cape Hatteras in North Carolina. And again, North Carolina is under a tropical storm warning and could see some coastal flooding later this week. Wednesday, that's tomorrow. So, forecasters also say that the storm could produce life-threatening surf and rip currents along the east coast this week. So please, please be safe and keep your eye on. Aaron. In other news, President Trump is moving to eliminate mail-in ballots ahead of the 2026 midterm election, so he wants this to happen soon. The president shared a post on truth social, which outlined his plan to, quote, lead a movement to get rid of mail-in ballots,
Starting point is 00:34:05 and it targets what he called highly inaccurate, very expensive, and seriously controversial voting machines. Trump has previously claimed that there's widespread voter fraud involving mail-in ballots and pledged to fight for election integrity. Let's take a listen to President and Trump's comments on mail-in ballots. Ballots are corrupt. Mail-in ballots, you can never have a real democracy with mail-in balance. We, as a Republican Party, are going to do everything possible that we get rid of mail-in ballots. We're going to start with an executive order that's being written right now by the best lawyers in the country.
Starting point is 00:34:39 All of the money they spend, it's approximately 10 times more expensive than paper ballots. And paper ballots are very sophisticated with the watermark paper and everything else. That's a very interesting move for someone who just, you know, by his words, won in a landslide, you know, like he claims. He did win every swing state, you know. You know, he claims it was a blowout, which it wasn't, per se. But that's a very interesting move for somebody who just won the way he won. So what you're saying is that if you, basically, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you won the way you say you did, why touch you?
Starting point is 00:35:13 Yeah. Okay. So while the president's post is calling for an end to mailing ballots and effort to dramatically. The overhaul the way federal elections are run has faced legal roadblocks in recent months. So, again, I will keep you guys posted on that because you definitely want to know what's going on in your state regarding these midterms coming up and how you can vote. And, you know, Morgan, I told people I believe it's a political coup going on amongst Republicans. Like, if you are Trump and MAGA and you aren't sure, you aren't sure you can trust, let's say, a Rupert Murdoch in his media machine, you know, from Fox to the Wall Street Journal. And you're not sure you can trust, you know, Elon.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Musk and whatever mechanisms he can use, you know, to sway voters, then they need to take things into their own hands and figure out how to manipulate elections the best way they know how and you get, you know, conversations like this talking about ending mail and vote. Yeah. And redistricting and map redistricting. So you're saying it's just, it's happening, y'all. Pay attention. Wake up.
Starting point is 00:36:08 And here in Washington, D.C., D.C. mayor, Muriel Bowser is pushing back on President Trump's declaration that his anti-crime crackdown is making the city safer. Trump called D.C.'s crime statistics fake in a truth social post yesterday, adding that the surge in federal agents and National Guard troops is already improving safety across this city, the nation's capital. Now, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser disputed that during remarks to reporters saying that the increasing number of troops posted in the city doesn't make sense. Let's take a listen to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's comments. This doesn't make sense. You know it doesn't make sense. The numbers on the ground in the district don't support a thousand people from other states coming to Washington, D.C.
Starting point is 00:36:53 You know that. So if you want to know what's happening, the question is really not for us. It's for why the military would be deployed in an American city to police Americans. That's the question. Yeah, so several hundred people have been gathering for protests across the city in recent days. And those present said the increasing number of National Guard troops in the city is creating fear and anxiety, especially among those who may be targeted for detention and arrests. There have been some arrests in undocumented immigrants and organizers urge D.C. residents to actually make noise outside of their homes every night at 8 p.m. to show their opposition.
Starting point is 00:37:36 And I will say this, too, as someone who's in this area, even though, you know, last week we spoke. with Mayor Bowser and I asked her if it would be safe or you know how it would impact them the city economically for people like me who come in from Maryland or coming from D.C., I mean, coming from Virginia, who are very
Starting point is 00:37:54 close to the city, frequent the city, whether we're coming in there for work, you know, I'm on Capitol Hill, I come to eat, I come to party, whatever the case is and I will tell you that the sentiment right now is do not go to D.C. So I'll keep you posted on, you know, what comes of that situation, but it's you know, the sentiment is right now,
Starting point is 00:38:10 It's just not the time. Stay out of D.C. And, you know, and if you are in the city, just to be safe and keep your head on the swivel. And it's sad because you already had to keep your head on the swivel,
Starting point is 00:38:20 but now you've got to keep your head on the swivel, not only for someone who's supposed to be protecting you or what you would think is somebody protecting you, but also, you know, but also in addition to the already the crime that was going on, which isn't, which to her point, the mayor's point was on a decline. Is this a broad sentiment, Morgan,
Starting point is 00:38:38 or is it like amongst, you know, black people? Um, this, I could, well, I can say that that's who I talk to is black people, black and brown people. Um, and yeah, that seems to be the broad sentiment amongst the, the, the, the, the black and brown collective is. Trump said it worked. We got them niggins out. We didn't have to build a wall. We're not partying. We're not brunching as much.
Starting point is 00:39:00 I mean, there's, there is to an extent, at least during the days, but like, partying at night and stuff like that is kind of like, nah, it's cool. I'm good on that. Matter of fact, it is back to school time. anyway. As a matter of fact, let me. Somewhere like this right now. He's like,
Starting point is 00:39:13 yes, yes, Trump's a drop on the clues bombs for keeping the f*** out. It worked. No, I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Oh, my goodness. All right, so that's your front page news. I'm Morgan Wood. Y can follow me on socials at Morgan Media. That's M-O-R-G-Y-N-M-E-D-A.
Starting point is 00:39:28 And for more news coverage, follow us at Black Information Network. Download the free I-HartRadio app and visit us at B-I-N-N-N-N-N-N-U-com. Thank you, thank you. All right. Thank you, Morgan. When we come back, Joey Badass will be joining us.
Starting point is 00:39:40 His new album, Lonely at the Top. It comes out August 29, so don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody is DJ NV. Just hilarious. Salameen Nagar. We are the Breakfast Club. Nila is here with us as well, and we got a special guest in the building.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Joey Badass. What are you doing? What are you doing? Good. I am blood to black and highly favorite. How are you feeling? Good, man. Good. First of all, how is fatherhood?
Starting point is 00:40:06 fatherhood is amazing amazing congratulations father of two now thank you thank you appreciate that loving it basking in it you know i mean i'm at the stage ain't getting much sleep yeah right now but you know it's it's going great how old is in a couple what two months now or something right yeah yeah okay how they changed you as a man yeah um i mean i won't say it changed me as a man i say it's refined you know what i mean um just uh you know matured It's like, I ain't got the bandwidth, bro. You know what I'm saying? For, like, the bulls-no more.
Starting point is 00:40:42 It's like, when I had my first child, the biggest revelation I had was like, oh, I only got one kid. You know what I mean? It's like, I've been taking kids so many people and, like, putting so much energy into that and you realize that you have, like, one child, like, one person that you actually solely responsible for. And, you know, having my son now is like, you know, it's no different. It's just, it kind of gives you that extra boost of, like, yo, listen, let's get
Starting point is 00:41:06 to it let's get it done like when we leave in the house we on a mission and the mission is to complete it and you know get back home that's right yeah yeah for real you got the best of both us now because you got your girl and your boy now absolutely absolutely yeah as you said you've matured is there like a major difference from your first time having a child when you're younger versus now yeah I mean I say the biggest difference was you know I don't I'm at a different readiness and preparedness level now you know I'm saying so it's like you know with this one and then also kind of having the experience in the data now, right? It's like, like, playing words data, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:41:43 Like, and having that to apply, so everything that I've learned from my first experience, being able to take that and it kind of catapult me into this one. Pretty much is like going on, navigating the street and knowing where the bumps is at. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's kind of like that. You know, I was listening to Dark Horror. They sent me lonely at the time. last night, they just sent me snippets, but I was to the whole
Starting point is 00:42:07 Dark Orr this morning. Yeah, that was purposely done because I know you guys have a system and y'all like to listen to the music before, but I also like to reserve some of it for, because I want you guys to actually be in tune, you know what I mean? When it dropped, so, yeah. But you say on Dark Orr, you say independent
Starting point is 00:42:24 mindset, you ain't fucking with them majors. So when I think about everything that's going on with your label right now and them delaying the album, does it make you wish you was indie? Well, what I'll say is, you know, We had our complications, and, you know, I think what had disappointed me or angered me the most is that I'm very passionate about my relationship with my fans. And, you know, when I say things, I want them to know that my word is born.
Starting point is 00:42:55 So I hate that I was put in a position where I communicated a date and then I had to change that. You know what I'm saying? Because I've worked so hard on that relationship with my friends. Because, you know, historically, it hasn't, I haven't always been the best at that. And that's, you know, me taking accountability and me wanting to improve and be better. You know what I'm saying? But, you know, so, yeah, we had our little whatever, but we're on common ground now. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:43:19 And, you know, I feel fully supported and everything in August 29th. Do you really feel fully supported? Because that was my last, right? What's the point? Do you really, brother? Do you really? You know, we got to drill into this thing. You see how I was trying to just be political, right?
Starting point is 00:43:34 Just get past, he's that, but do you really, let's dig it to it. Like, damn, I thought the juice would take the edge off. What's the point of a label even delaying an album? Because it's not like they're going to work the records at radio the way to they should. It's not like they're going to put the building behind you with the promo and marketing the way that they should. So what's the point of delaying the album? Shalomeman, you got some intense feelings today. That is like, bought some juice, y'allel.
Starting point is 00:44:04 I want some juice before you get started. Did they give you a reason? You ain't like that ginger shot? But if they give you a reason, did they say, hey, goy? So the reason was that they felt as if, like, you know, they wanted to put more into it. And, you know, like I had my complications with that, if you will. But at the end of the day, you know, I'm like, okay, you know,
Starting point is 00:44:29 that's not a bad thing. I just think that the way that it happened, you know what I'm saying? Like telling me the week before, my fans think that the project is coming is just like not productive you know what I'm saying it's counterproductive to the whole situation so like you know I could say
Starting point is 00:44:42 that their intentions were good but the execution of it wasn't the best you know what I'm saying but like I said like you know old is well now and you know everybody's on common ground and we got a day so always 29th at the end of the day
Starting point is 00:44:57 I just want to put this music out and that's what I'm looking forward to because I was having a debate about you in a group chat hip-hop group chats. Oh, yeah. And so I was saying, like, Joey, like, I looked through the project and I'm like, I've been in the group chats a lot this year, huh? But for good things. Great reasons. Like, it's like the fifth person I heard saying, y'all told about you in a group chat. And everybody had one, one common thing in regards to Joey Badass's music. They always
Starting point is 00:45:25 say he just need a record. Is that something you chase? I won't say that I chase that, but I won't say that it's something that I'm not. cognizant. Got you know what I mean? I definitely have an awareness of that and, yeah, lonely at the top of August 29 let's see what happens.
Starting point is 00:45:42 You know what I'm saying? Is that implying that it's on this tape? We'll see. I think that there's a record on there, maybe two records on there. Ready to Love? I think that's a great record. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:45:54 I think that's definitely poised for that type of position but there's another one I'm specifically thinking about. What is? The Super Flea one? The one I got like the club vibe to do it
Starting point is 00:46:05 man let's say you're sorry you're trying to reserve you know what I mean I want people to because you know it's and it's funny and I'm glad we having this conversation because I feel like in 2025 like I'm at a point I'm at a point with my artistry
Starting point is 00:46:20 where it's like I really don't want to give samples out I really don't want to drop no songs ahead of it I really want you to experience the body of work like I intended it to and I wanted it to be fully new when people hear it you know what i'm saying like i don't want the i don't want to give away too much i have too much expectations like i really enjoy creating bodies of work and sharing that you know what i'm saying so but yeah you know you still got to promote your project it's like how do you
Starting point is 00:46:48 promote the project without like putting singles out and you know shit like this is one cliff hanging ass man like he will leave on a cliff with his music and in acting because who me yeah you know i'm a cliff hanging there yes you are you want to leave something somebody on a cliff and not know what's going on because even in the films, even with the shows, like, we ain't know if unique died or not. You got to create some suspense, you know what I mean? Some suspense and anticipation. Yeah, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:47:14 I feel like you should feel something. Hell of anticipation this year, especially starting off the year. What was it? The first week of January, you coming. First day. First day. January 1st. Attacking the, or, you know, claiming your title in New York, but then also, you know,
Starting point is 00:47:30 coming for the West Coast. what struck that? So first of all, it's like, you know, my intention was never to come for the West Coast, you know what I'm saying? I think that like with Roolers back, it was really in the spirit of like, yo, y'all having y'all moment, but New York got something to say too type of thing, you know what I'm saying? And it's like, yeah, you know, people had their complications that like, oh, y'all had y'all moment, we ain't say, none, this at the third, but I'm like, yo, it was 2025. And it was a playful nation for me, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:47:58 Like, this rap is a sport, and I have so many. many allies on the West, like from my perspective, if you really seen it, it was like, I didn't mean no disrespect. That wasn't my attention or whatever, but I'm like, yo, we're rapping, you know what I'm saying? So when people felt like I was attacking, I had to respect it because I think that my perspective would have kind of been the same if the shoe was on the other foot, like, yo, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:48:21 So, and I think that a lot of people took the opportunity and a lot of good things came from that. We're still kicking with Joey Badass. Nile's here as well. Jess. So if any of those guys from the West Coast decided to respond back, right? One of the rappers was to, like,
Starting point is 00:48:38 all right, go back at you, were you prepared for it to be? Oh, people did respond. Yeah, a bunch of people respond. It was like 50 people respond. Yeah, no, we definitely going to get into that. But I want to get into this line where you were like, women lie,
Starting point is 00:48:50 but Joey don't lie, might delete later. I know damn sure that Joey won't. But with that line, you know, the play on words, but might delete later and, you know, that being Coast project, how do you feel about the big three now? Um, I mean, what do you mean? Do you still feel like there is a big three?
Starting point is 00:49:05 Did the big three change? Do you feel like it's like not a thing anymore? No, I want to say that it changed. I mean, I say that, you know, over the last 10 years when we talk about rap, like, yeah, I think that those figures are the prominent figures, you know what I'm saying, in the space. I think, you know, a lot of interesting things has happened in the last year. But, yeah, to say the least, you know what I'm saying? But, yeah, I mean, I don't feel.
Starting point is 00:49:31 no particular way about it you know what I'm saying I love it I love it all As a New York artist you feel the way And the reason you feel the way Because when you're talking about big three And no MC from New York is mentioned
Starting point is 00:49:43 Oh I mean bro listen I think I think the big three though Was more of like a Like it's like a class I feel like that Like when we talk about the big three We're talking about that class And I think that there's a new era
Starting point is 00:49:57 That's like you know kind of right behind that Where we might be talking about a different three individuals in like the next five years. But you don't consider yourself in that class? I mean, see, the thing is I kind of do, but I'm so much younger than anybody else. Anybody else in that class got me about like eight to ten years.
Starting point is 00:50:15 That was going to be my question for you because I feel like the game that you play versus the game that they play is different. Like, I think you brought it to my attention that Big Daddy Kane and Jay-Z are the same age. And then it's like, wait. They are? Yeah, close to it.
Starting point is 00:50:29 They're the same age, but they're indenting. different classes. So I feel like it's the same thing for you where it's like you're in the same classes then, but you, your game is just a little different. Yeah, yeah, no, for sure. The game is 56, J55. Oh, wow. Wow. The more you know, um, yeah, but you know, I feel, I feel similar to that and I think that me being younger has kind of allowed for different things for me, you know what I'm saying? Like, I think everybody path is different. And, um, there's not much that I would really change about my path. I'm just getting better. You know what saying as I go on and um yeah you know I think that me being younger than those pairs gives me
Starting point is 00:51:07 more years you know what I'm saying it gives me like um still like a longer runway to you know do what I want to do so so in terms of your music career what do you think has kept you from like getting to that next level just music well what you mean just like to be in that to be mentioned with that with those guys or maybe have the commercial success that they've had well I think it's me I think it's the music that I put out you know what I'm saying I don't put out a lot of commercially poised music. You know what I'm saying? Do you think it's that or do you think it's that you went the independent route?
Starting point is 00:51:37 I think it's a combination of both. You know what I'm saying? Like I don't think that I've put out much commercial sound and music. You know what I mean? And it's like the ones that I did like, you know, I put out devastated back in 2016 and that had a big moment. And that's like probably one of my least favorite songs in my catalog. So it's like I remember how that made me feel.
Starting point is 00:51:59 And it's like, even though it had the success, I'm like, is this feeling worth it? Like, do I want to, like, really be attached to a song that I don't love? You know what I mean? So, like, it kind of became more about artistic integrity for me. It's like, I just kind of value that a little bit more. But what I will say is I am trying to find the sweet spot. You know what I mean? I am looking for that sweet spot.
Starting point is 00:52:20 It's like, how can I stay true to me but still, like, you know, amplify it, amplify the sound. And nobody ever talks about that. Making a record that works, but it don't feel right to you, but you got to go out there and live with it. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. You know what I'm saying? So that's what that taught me, and it's like after that it was like I was very skeptical about making those type of sounds again.
Starting point is 00:52:42 Like, you know, even though for me, like, I really do enjoy being experimental and versatile. And I enjoy when I play a song for somebody and they're like, yo, that's you? I enjoy that feeling. But sometimes it also kind of like, takes away from like division a little bit right because like I don't have a single other song like devastated in my catalog and it's like when I'm when I'm going certain places that's the representative thing of me but it's like when you dive into my discography it's like my shit sounds nothing like that you know what I mean so I think just kind of being aware with that and then also just focusing on my bodies of work as well you know how do you particular piece in the industry that thrives off jail um stay out the way man you know stay out the way. I think this year has been the most in the way I've ever been. For a good reason, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for a good reason, right.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Like, a lot of good music came out of it, but, you know, just from a general standpoint, like, I think it's staying out the way, and I think lifestyle affects a lot of that, right? Like, you know, like, where I'm at now, my life at 30 years old, like, you know, I'm still fairly young, but my life reflects that of, like, a very mature man, you know what I'm saying? So it was like, you ain't going to really find me in the club. You ain't going to find me in, like,
Starting point is 00:53:57 you know, these, these dark energy spaces, you know what I'm saying? Where, like, like, yo, I got a, my social battery is so low. Like, yo, when I saw you out the other night
Starting point is 00:54:07 when we was at the Metro Boomer Joint, like, after that, like, I just had to stay in the house with five days. It's like, yeah, it's like, yeah, recovering, you know what I'm saying? You didn't even do nothing. You sat.
Starting point is 00:54:17 And it was too much because, you know what I mean? It's like, I gave mad daps out, you know, mad people, like, yo, boom, boom, boy. It's like the first time a lot of people were seeing me, you know what I mean? And it's just, it does a lot to me and it's like I kind of got to recover from that
Starting point is 00:54:29 after. Yeah. Yeah, I probably want to have to recover from this interview. Dang. Nah, he's, I bought the juice thing. You're talking to impress me about the labor. How much is being a successful active change the trajectory of your career? You ain't just Joey Badass
Starting point is 00:54:45 to rapper when you go out, you know what I mean? I would say that, you know, it made music, because I feel like at a point music was becoming to me like, um, feeling like a job. And I think that the success in acting has like supported music being art again for me and just like it being like just do what you want to do because you good you know what I'm saying like like you good
Starting point is 00:55:11 there's other things that you can do like you know you are you're limitless so do what you want to do and just make sure that every expression is as true as to to heart you know what I mean it's to spirit as as you wish it to be what do you like better acting or music. I like both, you know what I mean? It's like, people ask me that question a lot. And I'm like, man, like, why do I got to choose? You know what I'm saying? Like, I think that they're, we're talking about the field of arts. So to me, it's the same thing almost. You know what I mean? It's like, it's still me, I'm just showing up in another space, another medium, but as an artist. Still, you know what I mean, expressing myself performing, this, that, the third. So it's like,
Starting point is 00:55:51 yeah, I like, yeah, I like, I don't plan on choosing that one over the other. Like, I think that, Yeah, I'm highly capable And I'll continue to be capable of just doing both You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, I got some movies that I'm working on I'm some shows that I'm working on I can't, you know, spill no beans yet But um
Starting point is 00:56:12 Have a cliffhanger Yeah, man, I gotta be aware of that man My clip hanger ass nass, just on the clip Like, yeah, what's next? No, you leave us on the clip all the time It's lonely at the top of the cliff, I guess. Yeah, no. This is a problem.
Starting point is 00:56:30 Has acting changed the way you write music? Hmm. No, but I have been having a repeated thought. Like, I want to approach my music more from a space like that, more from like a theatrical space, like, how can I, you know, not with this album, but like, how moving forward, how can I involve what I've learned on the TV and film side and bring it into my music more? I have been, like, you know, examining that whole field of thought and being like, yo, like, I definitely want to charm my hand that, like, world building and playing a character on a body of work, if you will, and, like, playing into it
Starting point is 00:57:08 and music videos and all of that type of shit because I'm like, I can do that. You've seen that, though. I mean, Biggie did it with, like, Ready to Die or Rayquine did it with... Right, right, right. But, you know, doing it in 2025 at a whole new level, you know what I'm saying? We're still kicking it with Joey Badass.
Starting point is 00:57:22 Nila. When Unique got killed off, did you know? know you were killed off? Or, like, did you know you were coming back? Did I know I was coming back? I know. Oh, you mean, the cliff hang?
Starting point is 00:57:32 Oh, right. Yes. So I did know I was coming back. Oh, you did know? I did know I was coming back. So, like, you know, the story goes. So the reason why that even happened was because that year I had put out an album when we was
Starting point is 00:57:44 filming that season, and I had to tour it. And the tour was conflicting with the shooting schedule. And I was just like, yo, at that point, it was like season three. And I was just at a point where I was like, yo, I feel like, I mean, how long is the show going to go on? I don't know, but I feel like I've done what I had to do. So I'm like, I'm cool with y'all 86 to me if that's what you got to do.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Right. You know what I mean? So that's where I happen. It was written into the script, Unique Dies. And then the day that I wanted to get my head casting, right, which is like the process of, like, you know, if you're about to have a brutal death in the TV, you got to get your headcast it because, like, they need something to bang in. You know what I mean? So, like, they make a fake prosthetic version. When I walked into that office, I was like, oh, no, something is wrong.
Starting point is 00:58:32 I made a mistake. You know what I mean? Like, and I called up Sasha Penn, who was the creator and the showrunner of Raising Canaan. And I'm like, yo, is there any way? Damn. Because, you know what it was? I had that moment, and I'm like, yo, I felt like I was, like, at a crossroad. First, I called my mom because my mom is somebody who is just going to give it to me raw.
Starting point is 00:58:53 You know what I'm saying? So I'm like, yo, like, what should I do? Because at the time, there was something on the horizon that wasn't set in stone yet. So I was cool walking away from the show because I'm like, I'm about to walk into this other opportunity when I get back from tour. And then my mom had dropped some wisdom on me like, yo, one in the hand is better than two in the bush. That's right. And I was like, all, let me cool you back.
Starting point is 00:59:17 And I called up Sasha. And I'm like, yo, is there any way we could reverse? Because he never wanted to let me go. He never wanted to kill my character. I mean, yeah, right. What? Exactly. We were pissed.
Starting point is 00:59:29 He never wanted to kill him. And then he was just like, yo, Joey, like, tell me you serious because if you are, like, I'm going to make some calls and it's like, you cannot play with me. And I'm like, nah, I'm dead serious. He made it happen for me. And I left the fucking head casting. Thank God for that.
Starting point is 00:59:43 I was so pissed. I'm glad you only look at DMs, bro. I was up in them. I was up in him. I was mad at him. Like, he was really unique and he's not unique. He's not unique. You only wanted to kill you if you wanted to die.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's crazy. Yeah, really. Were you dying to tell us, like, all right, guys, I'm coming back. Because everybody was tweeting you, you know, mentioning you. It was a whole thing. Yo, so it's kind of f***ed up because I had to even lie to my castmates. Yeah, like, I couldn't even tell my castmates.
Starting point is 01:00:13 Why, though? Because that's what they told me. It was like, yo, like, you can't tell a nope. Because it was a cliffhanger, right? So it was, um, everybody was still shooting. Like, I died's episode five. Mm-hmm. And it's like, they had to keep going.
Starting point is 01:00:29 So it was like, they're like, no, we got to keep the character, like, we got to keep the character safe. Like, everybody got to believe that. Right. And I was like, oh, I mean, all right. That makes sense. It's a great TV. It's a great TV. Because 50 Cent do be doing some random, random near-death moments and then they come back.
Starting point is 01:00:43 What does 50 say during that time? But is he, or he's not that type of involvement? I didn't speak to 50 till after when I, had came back and um yeah he had he pulled up on me one day and like it was just me and him like we just chatted up for like 45 minutes 50 is it's like he he said a lot he said a lot that day you know what I'm saying he dropped a lot of game and um and wisdom and I could tell that like he got respect for me and obviously he's mutual you know what I'm saying so um yeah no he was just basically like, yo, you got it.
Starting point is 01:01:18 Like, yeah, you're the one. Like, you could do whatever the fuck you want to do in this joint. Like, and he was like, yo, you know, I want to let you know, I got like 30 plus other shows. So it's whatever you want to do. You know what I'm saying? And, like, you know, just kind of giving me that talk.
Starting point is 01:01:33 And I'm like, word, you know. What's more therapeutic? Actual therapy are going in the booth and getting it all? You know, you always hear the artist, be like, your therapy is. Yeah, yeah. My music is my therapy. You know, it's interesting.
Starting point is 01:01:43 You asked that because, you know, I think both are therapeutic. I think, you know, when you, When you in the booth, though, it's like, it's just letting off steam almost. Like, you know what I'm saying? You get to express, but, like, do you really get to understand? You know what I mean? And I feel like that's what's sitting down what the therapist really brings to you. It's like it helps you get to that place of, like, knowing why things are happening
Starting point is 01:02:07 to you and not just, like, what is happening to you. You know what I'm saying? I feel like the music gives me the outlet to talk about what is happening, but therapy gives me the outlet to understand why things are happening. You know what I'm saying? And, yeah, it's like, I actually am looking for a therapist at the moment. Oh, another new one? Yeah, yeah, new one.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Why do you think you need a new one? Well, I loved my past one, but it's like, it's just been a little minute since, you know, we connected, so it's just like, I'm looking for somebody, no. Yeah, because it's like, yeah, you know, we got to, we're going to have to do the whole thing anyway. Like, you know, re-download and shit like that, but yeah. Hey, guys, it's AZ Fudd. Starting point is 01:03:48 American History is full of wise people. And Jefferson writes in his diary, this proves that Hamilton is for a dictator based on corruption. My favorite line was what Neil Armstrong said. It would have been harder to fake it than to do it.
Starting point is 01:04:37 Listen to American History Hotline on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Hunter, host of Hunting for Answers on the Black Effect Podcast Network. Join me every weekday as I share bite-sized stories of missing and murdered black women and girls in America.
Starting point is 01:04:58 There are several ways we can all do better at protecting black women. My contribution is shining a light on our missing sisters and amplifying their disregarded stories. Stories like Tamika Anderson. As she drove toward Galvez, she was in contact with several people, talking on the phone as she made her way to what should have been a routine transaction.
Starting point is 01:05:23 But Tamika never bought the car, and she never returned home that day. One podcast, one mission, Save Our Girls. Hey, sis, what if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance, bro, tell you how to manage your money again? Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards.
Starting point is 01:06:00 If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem a year from now. When you do feel like you are bleeding from these high-intridden. interest rates. I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union, shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt and it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away
Starting point is 01:06:40 just because you're avoiding it, and in fact, it may get even worse. For more judgment-free money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. He was great, and he helped me a lot. I love when black men learn early what I learned late, because I didn't start going to therapy until I was 36, 36, 37, so what was the moment you realized you needed it? You only 30. So I actually had did one of those therapist sessions with noises.
Starting point is 01:07:10 You remember those joints? They used to put out with the rappers, The Therapist series. Prodigy did one too. Potagy did one. YG did one. I did one. And it's funny because that's the first time
Starting point is 01:07:20 I ever did therapy. It was live for the world to see. You know what I mean? And I felt like indifferent about that at the time, but I was very glad that I did it. And I was very like, you know, typical. Like, he's going to say. Right.
Starting point is 01:07:34 He's going to help me with it. And I end up, like, crying. And I ended up, like, crying and interviewing with all type of shit. And then after that, I actually connected with him and that's who became my therapist for like the next five years. You know what I mean? We conducted private sessions after that. And, you know, and yeah, shout to Dr. Siri.
Starting point is 01:07:51 Like, he's, he has helped me become a better person. Yeah, Bajjo, Bja. I love that. I love how you can be transparent about that. Not many men can be transparent about that. Prior to your relationship with Serra, you kept your personal life very private. Like, we knew very little about you. And I know that is.
Starting point is 01:08:09 intentional but how hard has it been adjusting to people knowing because we still don't know a lot but just even knowing that part of it how have you been adjusting to that um i would say that it's a learning experience because it's pretty new for me um you know but what's not new for me is being a public figure so i'm somewhat used to and normalize the idea that i'm free game you know what I'm saying like my life is up for anybody to talk about like at least whatever I show yeah you know what I mean so I just try to be as cognizant as that as possible and um you know uh show what I want them to see and you know not show other things like you know I don't I've never been a person to like you know really show my kids like that on social media because you know um like you know with my daughter for example like her mom and I's obviously not together so like there are moments where my daughter is not going to be with me and the last thing that i want is for people coming up to her because you know what i'm saying they know me or something like that like yeah so it's like i do that out of protection and um yeah i'm very
Starting point is 01:09:22 very critical about you know protecting the people in my life you know what i'm saying it's like i'm not just because these people are not on the stage i am you know what i mean so i'm i'm i'm I'm built for this, you know what I'm saying? The public opinion and stuff like that. People say negative things. I mean, I see negative things at the time. I don't respond. I don't engage, but these people are not.
Starting point is 01:09:43 You know what I'm saying? It's like that are really affect their world and affect their energy. You know what I'm saying? So I do my best to protect my love ones. You think people realize how popping you are in Hollywood. How popping I am. Like, you were part of a project that won an Oscar, bro. Crazy.
Starting point is 01:09:59 Yeah, I mean, shit. Listen, man. I don't think I really give a fuck about that. that type of shit, y'all, man. You know what I'm saying? Like, if you came to my house, you will understand why I don't give a f***. Like, I live a beautiful life.
Starting point is 01:10:11 You know what I'm saying? Like, I pray every day, every morning. If the world got to catch up with some type of, like, understanding of who I am, inshallah. You know what I mean? Joey badass, lonely at the top. Drops August 29th.
Starting point is 01:10:24 Good to see you, brother, man. Keep growing, man. Keep evolving, King. Like wise. Absolutely. Thank y'all for having me today. It's the breakfast club. Let's get to the latest with Lauren. Lauren becoming a straight fact
Starting point is 01:10:34 She gets them from somebody that knows somebody She gets the details I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything She'd be having the latest on this The latest with Lauren La Rosa Sometimes she has facts Sometimes she has details Sometimes she have a little bit everything
Starting point is 01:10:50 Well it's the latest On the breakfast club Talk to me So Torrey Leads Turin's team is still fighting to get him home And they're fighting back right now in an appeal court or appealing in court. And they're saying
Starting point is 01:11:04 that based on the DNA evidence, there's a one and one million chance that Torrey Lane's DNA was on the gun, that it was actually another black person. Let's take a listen. We found in the DNA evidence that they labeled Mr. Peterson's LR to be inconclusive and
Starting point is 01:11:20 uninformative. This is an LR of one. Therefore, Mr. Peterson had an LR of one and a million that his DNA was on this fire arm and with that fact it is actually marginally more likely that another
Starting point is 01:11:36 member of the African American population touched this gun over Mr. Peterson. Wow. Yeah. So they're leaning on that for the DNA evidence because y'all remember it was inconclusive and basically Tori's team is saying that was presented unfairly because
Starting point is 01:11:52 it being inconclusive doesn't mean that it was his DNA. Exactly. So yeah they're saying that there were four DNA profiles found on the magazine and then I'm lost. I thought that the judge wasn't hearing this again. I thought the judge wasn't talking to Torrey's security. I thought they weren't going back on the evidence. I thought they weren't going back on the evidence. So what's happening now? Has things changed? No. So there were two other requests that Tori tried to put in to appeal. So he had asked for a new evidence to be submitted in and a judge said no. And then he had asked for just a new sentence in general. And the judge said no. But this is the big one. This is the can he just be exonerated? from all of this. So those two things did happen and that was reported so I think it did confuse people but this is the
Starting point is 01:12:36 big appeal hearing and there's three women judges that are sitting and listening to both arguments from both sides that went down yesterday. So that's who you're hearing. That's Story Lane's his attorney. Now they're also saying that in addition to this DNA evidence argument they're also saying that Kelsey's testimony was BS because originally
Starting point is 01:12:52 she was saying she didn't remember what she said to the investigators then they had to play audio clips for her to remember certain things and her in Tories's team is like y'all didn't even play the full audio y'all only played clips and we never heard the full audio we only heard certain things they're also saying that um because meg the stallion's security guard they they said in the beginning of trial that he was going to testify that tory uh confessed the shooting to him allegedly the next day after it happened when he went to pick up some stuff from tory then this edison guy never got on the stand remember he went missing um so tourist team is like that's unfair because when you mention things when you open up you know your opening statements the judge the jury has hurt you it now so you can why would you why would he be even allowed to say that now on the other side the defense is like look y'all had ample enough time to shoot back at all this stuff oh that's what that's what i'm thinking like during the trial where was all this energy during
Starting point is 01:13:43 the trial and even when you talk about the DNA they never used DNA to convictory lanes they said during the trial that uh his DNA was inconclusive and it could neither exclude nor definitively include Tori so they never even used it yeah they're arguing that they should have brought in the actual there's like a scale of inconclusive and they should have brought in the numbers so you could see how many like how wide range of scale is and how small his evidence I thought they did I thought they said 90% of the DNA was was male but yeah so it was 90 it was 90% male contributors there was four DNA profiles found on the magazine and four DNA profiles found on the gun but the attorney is saying that there's like these numbers specifically that they did not mention that they should have which is this scale not even a percentage it's like one and one million of something something something and because they didn't mention that they did a bad job or an unfair job of painting how wide range any... It could have been any black male. It could have been any male.
Starting point is 01:14:37 That's what she's saying. So now... Any nigger USA. Basically. The defense is saying, first of all, the gun was found in the car. There were four people in the car. Y'all are arguing semantics here. They're also saying that Harris or Kelsey and Megan both
Starting point is 01:14:52 identified him as the shooter themselves. Then they brought up the text message that he text. And then they also brought up that phone call from jail when he was recorded. And they're seeing, like, if y'all are only saying he apologized because he was drunk and he ruined a friendship, why would he only apologize to Megan and not apologize to Kelsey on the phone? So they brought up all this stuff to shoot back.
Starting point is 01:15:11 I keep saying that, sorry. Where was all this energy during the trial? I wouldn't give them lawyers a damn dime. That's what I'm saying. It feels like too little too late. He switched attorneys, though. Like, all these things they should have had beforehand. Like, it just seems like.
Starting point is 01:15:25 That's what they're arguing. His new attorneys, because remember he had Sean Holly, then it was a second set of, attorneys now he has a whole unite the people another set of attorneys and he's arguing that they weren't given discovery or so like the evidence in time and all the things y'all are saying that's what
Starting point is 01:15:40 they're alleging right now but the defense is saying that's not true y'all could have asked for anything at any time y'all could have said that certain things weren't fair at a certain time y'all could have objected to things and y'all did object to certain things but not others but now y'all are bringing it up so we'll see what happens but there are three women judges one is a black woman judge who will be determining on whether
Starting point is 01:15:57 what happens with Tori Now in other news The girls and the singers Money Long, so yesterday I saw you do the report Money Long Jahim And she said Joheen. Right? No, it's Life Jennings Thank you. Sorry, Life Jennings. My bad.
Starting point is 01:16:14 I remember when you used to be on point. Must be nice. Oh, I remember what your time I used to be too. That's crazy. You are, it's okay. But Jaheen? It's okay. Wrong male singer, just like you had the wrong facial color a couple years ago. We let you live. But you in here, where do I mean?
Starting point is 01:16:29 You went here anyway. You could have just corrected it moved on. You love to start a pot, Indicoe. That's crazy. And ain't nothing over there, but a rainbow. Wow. You hate me, people. No, I am.
Starting point is 01:16:41 Ignore you, I'm glad. I was very homophobic what she said. Continue on. Ignore. No, because the girls know you saucy and you like to set a pot. Okay, I'm back. Anyway, so yesterday, Money Long actually commented on the Breakfast Club, Instagram, and she wanted to clarify something.
Starting point is 01:16:54 She says that she was just joking. She was not hating. She was not shading. We said that, though. We said that in the conversation. I said maybe she was joking. Yeah, maybe she was playing. She wanted to clarify.
Starting point is 01:17:06 I couldn't see the joke. I couldn't say, I ain't think she was playing. I don't never see money playing. I'll never see a laughing, smiling, joking plan, but I'm glad to know that she was playing. That's just because she got a serious face all the time. Yeah, I mean, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:19 I don't know if she put an L-O-L in the post. Yeah, I didn't see her L-O-L. Even in the comment. And people was in the comments like, like, girl, playing. You wasn't playing. but I mean the lyrics don't make any sense for her to be serious but she wanted to let y'all know she was just playing
Starting point is 01:17:34 so leave her alone I said that yesterday let a rock my bad life Jennings That's all she got to She'll write to it all right Yeah it'd be nice Before we get out of here
Starting point is 01:17:44 Make sure you get your messy visions The one I'm wearing right now It's called the city girl So period Messyvision I wear.com If you use the promo code Wake W-A-K-E You'll get 20% off
Starting point is 01:17:55 Thank you all y'all Help me sell out the OMGs yesterday to help me sell out these city girls. You know what you should do. You should have somebody come to all your shows because you get hundreds and thousands of people at your shows. Right at the front with the merch, boom. Because that way I ain't got to order online,
Starting point is 01:18:09 I come see you, I'll leave with some glasses. But you know, it's crazy at Saucca Can Fuego. Last week, it was three of my fans in the audience with Messy Vision On. So, yes, listen, they be rarely in for me. Okay. But yeah, sure right. I should look into that.
Starting point is 01:18:23 You should definitely do that. But until then, get to the website. At www. messyware-Ovish.com. All right. Shalaman, who are you giving your donker, too? Man, we need Fox News host Dana Perino to come to the front of the congregation. We would like to have a word with her, please. All right.
Starting point is 01:18:37 We'll get to that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. This is a miracle. There is no question that there are problems in this country between police and community. Yes, you are a donkey. The latest on that police killing of a black man. Now to new developments in the deadly spa shooting rampage.
Starting point is 01:18:57 And yesterday it was a really bad day for him, and this is what he did. And so we are in a state of emergency. Okay, white supremacist violence is that always have been the number one threat to our society. But I'm also very proud that my wife is white. The breakfast club, bitches. All right, friendly, please tell me why was I your donkey of the day? Listen, donkey of the day for Tuesday, August 19th goes to Fox News host Dana Perino. Okay, there is something going on in the Democratic Party that I actually like,
Starting point is 01:19:27 and I haven't liked a lot of things this person is done because a lot of things he's done have seemed very inauthentic. Okay, very fake. I'm talking about California Governor Gavin Newsom. Now, I have given Gavin credit for being ahead of the curve in regards to having his own platform. Okay, he launched a podcast with IHeart called Politicking last summer
Starting point is 01:19:45 and his co-hosts were Marshaun Lynch and an agent by the name of Doug Hendrickson. I enjoyed it. I thought that he was able to speak politics in a very digestible way. And Marshaun kept Gavin's boots on the ground and didn't let him speak over people's heads. I thought it was very impactful. And then Gavin Newsom launched another podcast called This is Gavin Newsom, also with Eyeheart.
Starting point is 01:20:06 And I didn't like that podcast. Okay, nope. Okay, I like the concept, all right. He said he wanted to have conversations with people that he agrees and disagrees with, which I'm awful. Okay, he had Steve Bannon on, Charlie Kirk. Those two episodes didn't move me. So I didn't care to revisit. All right, the reason I didn't care to revisit is because I expected more from a governor, okay, in regards to push back on people like.
Starting point is 01:20:26 like Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon. It felt like he was just sucking their kneecaps and licking their boots. I didn't like it. But let me tell you something. Gavin Newsom for the past week and some change has been doing what I've wanted a Democrat to do for a long time. Okay, see Michelle Obama once said, when they go low, we go high.
Starting point is 01:20:44 And your uncle Shala has never agreed with that. Okay, when they go low, either you ignore them and mind your business, stay doing the work, or when they go low, you go to hell. Okay, and Gavin Newsom over the last week and a half, been going to hell with the Trump administration, not even really going to hell, just matching energy. And I like it. Would you like to hear what he's been doing?
Starting point is 01:21:04 Let's go to MSNBC News for the report, please. Since Donald Trump returned to office, his feud with California governor Gavin Newsom has intensified from social media through the courts. First, it started with Trump launching federal agents, often fully masked and disguised, to lead ice raids across communities and workplaces in California. Then it escalated when Trump sent the National Guard and Marines into L.A. to go after protesters. So today, Newsom, like a true internet troll,
Starting point is 01:21:32 took directly to social media and started speaking Trump's language. He blasted out the following in Trumpian, all caps. When Speaker Little Man Johnson is standing in the unemployment line, he can thank Donald Taco J. Trump. Trump missed a simple deadline, something he has often done with his many failed businesses. Now, California will fire him with new, more beautiful maps.
Starting point is 01:22:00 Highly anticipated, historic press conference with your favorite Governor Gavin, Christopher Newsom. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Somebody has been reading the 48 laws of power, okay? Law 44, disarm and infuriate with the mirror effect. And old people like Dana Perino on Fox are absolutely infuriated. Would you like to hear what she had to say about Gavin's tweets? Let's listen. The other thing for me is that for the last week,
Starting point is 01:22:29 Gavin Newsom, and why am I giving him advice? You have to stop it with the Twitter thing. I don't know where his wife is. If I were his wife, I would say, you are making a fool of yourself. Stop it. Do not let your staff tweet. And if you're doing it yourself,
Starting point is 01:22:46 put the phone away and start over. And if he's got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job, he has to be a little bit more serious. Dana, have you ever told the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America to stop? Have you ever told the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America that they need to be more serious? Have you ever asked where the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America's wife, first lady Melania Trump is? You do realize Governor Gavin Newsom is biting Donald Trump's whole flow.
Starting point is 01:23:17 Word for word, bar for bar. It is a deliberate imitation of Donald Trump's nut-ass social media style. Okay, law 44 and the 48 laws of power disarm and infuriate with the mirror effect. Okay, do you understand what the mirror effect is? It's when you are mirroring an opponent's actions or words. It can be a powerful tool for deception and manipulation. Okay, by reflecting their behavior, you can confuse them, make them overreact, and ultimately gain the upper hand. This law, law 44 and the 48 laws of power, highlights the seductive nature of mirroring,
Starting point is 01:23:50 exploiting the human tendency towards narcissism and a desire to be reflected. It's brilliant. Okay, Fox News you would be better off saying it's time for all of this type of foolishness to stop. You would be better off saying we really don't like it from President Trump
Starting point is 01:24:06 and this isn't something to be imitated. But to act like it's cool when Trump do it, but it's a problem when Gavin does it, knock it off. Okay, the hypocrisy is disgusting. I don't know this guy's name but he was on Tracy Gallagher show on Fox. Let's listen to him. Gavin Newsom, meantime, posting this on X, Liz, using all capitals, of course, trying to mock Trump, use Trump style.
Starting point is 01:24:27 He's been doing this for a while now. He says, quoting, Trump, Trump just fled the podium with Putin, no questions, nothing. Total low energy. The man looked like he'd just eaten three buckets of KFC with Vlad. Admit it, Donnie, Jay. You're terrified because this was the worst week of your life because of me, Gavin C. Newsom. I think he's trying to be funny. I think, I mean, I don't know what he's trying to do, but it comes across.
Starting point is 01:24:50 as childish and what are you're the governor of the biggest state in the union what are you doing honestly i feel like he's trying so hard to be trump but he's coming off like conier west he seems absolutely insane once again the hypocrisy is disgusting we've been watching president trump have his way for almost a decade now okay gavin newsome gives you a week of your own medicine and y'all become these fragile as snowflakes i love it okay salute to camille uh Zapata. I think that's her name. Drop on the clues bombs for Camille Zapata.
Starting point is 01:25:23 That's who I heard is behind Gavin News from social media. I don't know if it was your idea to incorporate the mirror effect, but bravo, bravo, the mirror effect. Law 44 is brilliant. When someone sees their own actions reflected back at them, especially by an adversary, it can be deeply unsettling and even infuriating. And this can lead to overreactions and strategic errors. I love it.
Starting point is 01:25:49 Now, Gavin Newsom has explained why he's tweeting exactly like Donald Trump. Let's listen. What's going on with those posts on X that are clearly pulling the president? What? Can you just talk about that? It's not like a strategy? I hope it's a wake-up call of the President of the United States. I'm sort of following his example.
Starting point is 01:26:07 If you've got issues with what I'm putting out, you sure as hell should have concerns about what he's putting out as president. So to the extent it's gotten some attention, I'm pleased. But I think the deeper question is, how have we allowed the normalization of his tweets through social posts over the course of the last many years to go without similar scrutiny and notice? It's just that simple. If you are concerned about what Governor Gavin Newsom is putting out, then you should be more concerned about what the President of the United States of America is putting out and how his tweets have become so normalized. Okay, Fox News, the five, Jesse Waters, Dana Perino. Can you discuss that?
Starting point is 01:26:52 Just discuss what we just heard Gavin Newsom say. Answer that question. How have we allowed the normalization of President Trump's social media posts? And how come they're not getting the same scrutiny you are currently given Governor Gavin Newsom? Please let Chelsea Handler give Dana Perino and every other conservative talking head, hypocrite, the biggest he-ha. Hi-ha, he-ha! That is way too much, Dan Manez. All right.
Starting point is 01:27:21 All right, well, thank you for that donkey today, sir. Yes, ma'am. Now, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-105-1. Now, a mother is facing backlash because she was dropping her two kids to school. Yeah. And while she was dropping her two kids to school,
Starting point is 01:27:37 she was wearing a towel wrapped around her head, a bathrobe, and some flip-flops. And people are saying, a little disrespectful. You should get dressed when you take your kids to school. Absolutely. Like, listen, I understand you're waking up late. You're trying to get, yo, you can snatch the towel off your head. You can find a hat. You can find a pair of leggings, a pair of shorts, throwing a t-shirt, big t-shirt.
Starting point is 01:27:57 Like, yo, a bathrobe looking like you fresh out the bathroom with a towel on your head, at least a damn bonnet, which is even just, I don't even like having a bonnet's taking my kids to school, but I'm just saying, like. You wore a silk scarf to blast a breakfast. And did. Yeah, it was a scoff. Yeah, it was a scoff. It wasn't a bonnet or tail, period. But, and then for me, it's just the other people comment and, like, supporting this.
Starting point is 01:28:21 Like, at least she's walking them to school. My mother was hung over every morning for being in the bar the night before. And I had to walk myself to school. She got her babies to school. That's all that matters. Cut the BS. Cut it out.
Starting point is 01:28:31 No. We should be presentable at all times. Even if you ain't got to walk in like Annalise Keaton, but goddamn, you can wear, I'm talking about nightgown and the leggings with a hoodie, something. this is trash this is crazy and you're embarrassing your kids let's open up the phone lines let's discuss 800 585 101 5151 I'm what what the hell is that what the hell was that I'm mad about it like that's embarrassing 585105151 we'll put it on the breakfast club page so you can see exactly the video that they're talking about many people reposted it but that way you can see what we're talking about it would have what would have one of the kids classmates is like, you're my mother dirty.
Starting point is 01:29:16 Like, you know how kids are these days. Well, these little kids, though. They don't know what's going on. Oh, please. Are you? Not these little kids. They look like she's about 70. No.
Starting point is 01:29:24 And everyone looked like she could fight. Five. So, yes. Yes. You know, I had a ponytail. I used to have the same ponytail and I could fight. Okay. Yes.
Starting point is 01:29:31 But you're putting your kids through it. I agree. 800-5-8-5-1-5-1. Goodbye. She did. She did. She didn't. She didn't give it up.
Starting point is 01:29:41 She ain't give it up. She ain't given up. You see what I'm saying? You're looking at the back. You're looking at the back. You're looking at the back. Let's discuss. It's the breakfast club.
Starting point is 01:29:49 Come on. Call out your phone. Call in right now. You call me. Add your opinion to the breakfast club topic. Break it down. 800-585-105-1. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:30:04 That they're calling my phone. It's topic time. Call 800-585-105-1 to join in to the discussion with the breakfast. Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NVV. Jess Hilary, Shalameen de Guy. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:30:20 If you're just joining us, we're talking about something that was I seen on social media yesterday. A mother was facing backlash for wearing a robe and a towel wrapped around her head to drop off her kids at school. Now, are people overreacting
Starting point is 01:30:33 about the video, or do you think it's just foul? I think it's foul. I don't think people are overreacting. You know, and then for the people like basically like awarding her for walking her kids at school, you're supposed to do yo like you stop making the same like like tasks that we're supposed to do we get rewarded for it no you're supposed to take your kids to school i get it they made it there yeah some some parents that are trifling who don't care about their kids getting to school but definitely
Starting point is 01:30:57 be presentable y'all kids are so cruel and i just never want to put my kid in a predicament right where they have to verbally retaliate to somebody or physically retaliate to somebody because of something that i've done you know what i mean i'm i'm with you at the end of the day you You want to look presentable for your kids. You want to look presentable for yourself too. You want to look presentable for yourself. Like you said, you don't want your kids to be made fun of. And also, it's nothing to throw on a sweatsuit.
Starting point is 01:31:21 No, nothing. There's nothing to throw on a quick t-shirt and some quick leggings or whatever it may be, whatever may be to get to work. Now, I will say, you're also talking to somebody that don't take their kids in school in the morning sometimes, and I know they be rushing. But it's nothing to throw on a sweatsuit. Nothing. In my opinion.
Starting point is 01:31:34 Nothing at all. A little hat, tie a scarf arranged. I mean, I'm talking about you, look, yo, it was like she hopped out the shower and was like, all right, let's go. A towel? I've never even seen nobody with a towel on their hair outside. You know, some of the people around New York
Starting point is 01:31:48 that are sleeping outside, but not like nobody pulling up to the school. Salome? I mean, it's inter-ethere. I don't necessarily disagree with anything that I'm hearing in the room right now. I just, I don't know if I can judge her like this because I don't know what's going on in her life
Starting point is 01:32:02 for me to form an opinion on why she decided to pop out like this. Because being a mother is hard. And if this woman... Absolutely. If this woman had to pop out like this, it's serious I'm looking at it and it's like
Starting point is 01:32:14 time must have been of the essence you know like it's not even just the role like you said it's the towel over the head like she just washed her hair like she got some way to be but she these kids can't be late either you know what I mean
Starting point is 01:32:25 which I respect because kids late they don't ever want to be late right but the whole thing you could have thrown a sweatsuit bro you didn't have 30 more seconds I don't know I'm saying I don't know
Starting point is 01:32:34 I really don't know that's what I'm saying like something had to be going on for her to pop out like this let's go to the line Tony on the line Tony come on Because the kids is ready. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:32:43 The kids are ready. The kids look good. Absolutely. New backpacks. The kids are fresh. Everything. Hello, who's this? This is Tony from Houston.
Starting point is 01:32:51 Tony from East Town. Talk to us. What's your thoughts? So I kind of look at it. I think sometimes as we have to give grace and mercy. Mm-hmm. Just because I'm a mother. I'm throwing my brother to school right now.
Starting point is 01:33:01 She's feeling embarrassed because I called in on this. See how we be just doing nothing and embarrassing them kids? But I just look at it. If this is her first morning doing it? Let's just give her grace and mercy. Maybe she was tired last night. She got a shower, trying to drop them kids off at school and go to work. Let's just not be quick to judge the photo.
Starting point is 01:33:20 We don't know the big story. That's exactly what I just said. It's hard for me to judge her because I don't know what caused her to do this. But a bathrobe told me. And a towel on her head. I know. I know. I know.
Starting point is 01:33:33 Unless it was like you said, unless it's something to the extreme. Like we don't know. The house caught on fire. This song she had. The house caught on fire. Anything. Her boyfriend destroyed her clothes. He's trying to figure out what the problem is.
Starting point is 01:33:45 The house caught on fire? I don't know. You know you only got a bad road? All I know is. I know. Hopefully she got something underneath there. But I'm going to give her grace and mercy on this one just because I know. Some morning it would be tough.
Starting point is 01:33:57 That's what I'm saying. It's one of them one that she might pop up on line later crying with the snobble and tell y'all a really deep story. And you'd be like, damn, I get it. But y'all done jumped out. But not even pajamas, though? Like, if it was PJs. And then you got to also understand, too, right?
Starting point is 01:34:14 Sometimes when this happened, it's just literally what they're used to. Like, something ain't got to be going on all the time when you see stuff like that. Man, I am from Baltimore City. Like, and, man, what? Like, this is what. Don't compare Baltimore to everybody else. What that? What, that's that?
Starting point is 01:34:33 What, Baltimore? No, where is that at? Baltimore. No, it's not. Yes, it is. Shut up. No, it's not. But I'm saying, this happens everywhere.
Starting point is 01:34:42 Sometimes you got mothers that just don't care. They care more about getting their kids to school than themselves. Yeah, I'm not the lot. This is my mother. My mother, I wouldn't went to school that day. That's what I'm saying. If my mother only had a bad road, y'all ain't going to school today. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:34:54 I'm not saying that this mother's not going through anything, but a lot of times, mothers don't be going through nothing. A lot of times, this is just to get the kids out the house so they can go back home and lay down. Hello, who's this? This is Jalen from Houston, Texas. I love y'all show. Jay Lou. What's up, Jay Lane? Hey, so I just feel like I'm an educator, y'all.
Starting point is 01:35:15 I'm a teacher, and I just... Hey, guys, it's AZ Fudd. You may know me as a gold medalist. You may know me as an NCAA national champion and recent most outstanding player. American history is full of wise people. What women said something like, you know, 99.99% of war is diarrhea and 1% is gory. Those founding fathers were gossipy AF, and they love to cut each other down. I'm Bob Crawford, host of American History Hotline, the show where, you send us your questions about American history, and I find the answers, including the nuggets
Starting point is 01:36:44 of wisdom our history has to offer. Hamilton pauses, and then he says, the greatest man that ever lived was Julius Caesar. And Jefferson writes in his diary, this proves that Hamilton is for a dictator based on corruption. My favorite line was what Neil Armstrong said. It would have been harder to fake it than to do it. Listen to American History Hotline on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Hunter, host of Hunting for Answers on the Black Effect Podcast Network. Join me every weekday as I share bite-sized stories of missing and murdered black women and girls in America. There are several ways we can all do better at protecting black women.
Starting point is 01:37:31 My contribution is shining a light on our missing sisters and amplifying their disregarded stories. stories like Tamika Anderson. As she drove toward Galvez, she was in contact with several people, talking on the phone as she made her way to what should have been a routine transaction. But Tamika never bought the car, and she never returned home that day. One podcast, one mission, save our girls. Join the search as we explore the chilling cases of missing and murdered black women and girls. Listen to hunting for answers every weekday on the Black Effect Podcast Network,

Going through something like that is a traumatic experience, but it's also not the end of their life. That was my dad, reminding me and so many others who need to hear it, that our trauma is not our shame to carry, and that we have big, bold, and beautiful lives to live after what happened to us. I'm your host and co-president of this organization, Dr. Leitra Tate. On my new podcast, The Unwanted Sorority,
Starting point is 01:38:44 we weighed through transformation to peel back healing and reveal what it actually looks like, and sounds like, in real time. Each week, I sit down with people who live through harm, carried silence, and are now reshaping the systems that failed us. We're going to talk about the adultification of black girls, mothering as resistance, and the tools we use for healing. The unwanted sorority is a safe space,
Starting point is 01:39:06 not a quiet space. So let's walk in. We're moving towards liberation together. Listen to the unwanted sorority, new episodes every Thursday, on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I feel like I don't agree with it.
Starting point is 01:39:22 Like, coming out the house with your robe on and, you know, whatever rap, like this, I know you had on a scarf girl, but the bonnets and all that, nah, no, we can't do that. I mean, we got to set an example for the little ones and for the youngsters, you know? Exactly.
Starting point is 01:39:34 But I knock a lot. I don't pick them my kids, pajama pants before, though. Yeah, I... But they pajama pants. Envy, you can't do that. The fellas, this applies to fellas, too. You know, we can't go up and there with little white beaders on and put them down.
Starting point is 01:39:46 Because then when our kids go to church, we're mad because they're not dressed right or she's. We got to put an example out. Because there was a bit of time before my wife was like, yo, you got to grab the kids. And I was taking my nap and I didn't have... I just ran out the crib, T-shirt, pajama pants. But it was pajama pants. But you... Oh, Lord.
Starting point is 01:40:02 He said, oh, Lord. Just stay in the car next time, Envy. Yes. All these damn clothes you got. You couldn't grab a pair of sweatpants. I didn't want to leave the kids outside, so I just jetted in the car and took off. I also think it's very corny that somebody recorded her. Like, I'm watching the video now.
Starting point is 01:40:17 That's corny, man. Like, you don't know what people will be going through. And now this woman is getting, you know, like crucified online. Thank you, Jayland. I ain't going to front, though. Thank you, I love y'all. What do you teach? What do you teach?
Starting point is 01:40:30 What do you teach? I teach theater. And actually, Charlemagne, the guy came to visit my. school, I'm sure he did. I've been there a couple of times. I had a couple of book events that for my first book and my second book. That's right.
Starting point is 01:40:45 It comes right in the back door, yeah. Thank you. You're so homophobic for no reason. What are you talking about? You know what you know. And God sees you. God see me what?
Starting point is 01:40:54 And God sees you. That's why you got to wear a dye all in your bed now. That's why you and fat Joe got to rewind the time. You know what I mean? I don't rewind the time. Mine is a little better. It's just for men. Period. Period.
Starting point is 01:41:07 I love it. I don't like how she's looking to robe. Now, I ain't going to lie. Yo, shut up, man. But you know, somebody might have taped that to put in their group chat. Be like, look at this. That's what I'm thinking. She, I'm definitely is giving.
Starting point is 01:41:21 I'm not going to be able to do. She, I'm telling you. It's like, all right. Now, if he's just joining us, we're talking about this mom on social media. She's facing backlash. She was taking her two kids to school, and she was wearing a robe and a towel wrapped around her head. Look like she just got out the shower, fresh out the shower. and she's getting backlash for it.
Starting point is 01:41:38 Jess said enough's enough. Put some clothes on. Yes. That's why I say it. Charlemagne said, well, we don't know the circumstances. I mean, I just don't know. I mean, I understand what all of y'all are saying.
Starting point is 01:41:47 Walking outside in a bathrobe and a towel is crazy, right? But I just don't know what's going on in her life for her to have to do that. Like, I don't feel like that's something she does on the regular. But I don't know because their kids is put together. The kids are. Yes, they are. Yes, they are. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 01:42:03 From my man, man. This is Stephen from Long Island. How are you? Good morning. What's up, Kishy from Long Island, talk to us. What's your thoughts? Well, prior, when I just spoke to the gentleman before, I didn't see the video, but I'm looking at the video, and I personally think that your kids are representation of you. Her kids look decent.
Starting point is 01:42:21 Her role was not too provocative. I mean, there's times where I was running behind, and I mean, I may not have my kid up to school, but I've driven him in school like that. So I don't think there's anything wrong with the way that she brought her kids to school. Her kids look presentable. you know, they're dressed nicely like, and at the end of the day, they represent who she is, and they're looking pretty good. They're looking sharp.
Starting point is 01:42:42 Yeah, I think, yeah, kids do look good. I think it's the towel more so than the robe, right? And look, but I was going to say the other way around, I think it's the robe more so than the towel because there could be a lot of reasons you got a towel on your head, right?
Starting point is 01:42:56 I think it's the robe because she could have just did her head and could be wet and she didn't want to get, you know, get the morning air to hit it, you know, a sweat, suit with a tail in your head is way better than a robe and nothing on your head. A robe is not for outside. And I'm looking at the way the cheeks is sitting, right? No, listen, seriously, seriously.
Starting point is 01:43:14 I think that she probably has on like some biker type shorts and like a tank top or something. So she didn't want to walk out like that. So she probably grabbed a robe to cover that up. Or maybe her butt is just perfectly sitting, you know, on her back. I probably, but I bet. It's not like she got on panties and bra under that robe. I guarantee you she probably got on like something else. Something revealing.
Starting point is 01:43:34 But it's something you would wear around the house. Right. Like a rope. Yeah, a tank top and biker shorts. Uh-huh. She knew she couldn't pop out like that, so she just grabbed her robe real quick. Yeah. Let's go to another caller.
Starting point is 01:43:44 Hello, who's this? Mango. Mango, what's up? Talk to us. What's your thoughts, Mama? I'm glad that these schools are implementing these rules where they're not allowing parents to show up with their hooch-cucci shorts and they bonnics to come respectful out of respect for these kids and setting examples for these kids.
Starting point is 01:44:02 I'm glad. That's nice. but that's not what she got on though she got on a robe and a towel that's nothing up under there you don't know what's under there if that rope blow open like maryland my road in would shoot that would have made this video even better oh wow crazy now mind you I have taken ash to school before
Starting point is 01:44:24 with bonnet not a towel but like bonnet something that I wouldn't be presentable in front of kids I had that on but he was also I never got out the car He was also big enough to get out the car and running the school himself. Well, let me ask you question. So that's different. I just want to take it a step further.
Starting point is 01:44:39 I've been noticing a lot, in the last I would say seven years, maybe 10 years. I've been seeing a lot of people wearing bonnets in the airport. We're wearing bonnets and restaurants. That's right. And restaurants. Yeah, going out wearing the bonnet. So what's your thoughts on that thing?
Starting point is 01:44:53 I do not like that. In a restaurant, yeah. All right, now look, I have also been one to wear a bonnet when I got them four a.m. 5 a.m. flights and I don't want to get up and do my edges and all of that stuff. because then people take pictures or whatever.
Starting point is 01:45:05 I'd rather people take a picture with me with a bonnet on. This one I ain't really handled. Back in a day either. So it was like, dang, I had to, you know, get up early and just throwing a bonnet. But I never, ever went further than that, just a bonnet.
Starting point is 01:45:17 But I don't do that anymore. Since Monique scolded us for that? No, seriously, that was a whole thing. I stopped doing. You have never seen, you have not seen Justelarius in a bonnet in an airport in a long-ass time. Okay.
Starting point is 01:45:30 But a restaurant is crazy. All right. But you know what she should have? her head on? What's that? Some glasses for messy vision. I wear.com to make the outfit better.
Starting point is 01:45:41 And if she would have used the promo code W.A.K.E. She could have got 20% off of the city girls. Y'all have been killing if y'all saw her with them damn messy vision glasses on because you ought have been like, so you got time to put on your goddamn
Starting point is 01:45:51 messy vision glasses, but you ain't got time to put on a sweatsuit? Okay? Yes, because you could put prescription in these glasses and what if she can't see? So she better had had time to grab them glasses on the way out.
Starting point is 01:46:00 What if that's the case that she thought that was a dress? Not a real. I'm serious. Why don't she thought that was a big hoodie? Okay. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:46:09 Goodbye. All right. Now, we got the latest with Lauren coming up, so don't go anywhere. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Lauren becoming a straight fat. Tell us.
Starting point is 01:46:21 Tell us, man. She gets them from somebody that knows somebody. She gets to detail. I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything. She'd be having the latest on this. The latest with Lauren La Rosa. Sometimes you have facts. Sometimes you have facts.
Starting point is 01:46:34 get details. Sometimes you have a little bit everything. Well, it's the latest. On the breakfast club. Talk to me. All right, y'all. So before we get started, I want to take a second to send Mia J., who is Young Dauph's wife, some love yesterday, Monday. They started trial for the guy that they're calling the mastermind of everything that happened with the Young Dough, of the Young Dolf shooting. His name is Hernandez-Golven. So all that is taking place. And of course, she's having to deal with this again in
Starting point is 01:47:01 real time. And she posted to her Instagram, a photo. up Doff in one of their children and said Dear Lord God, may every hand seen and unseen whether on the trial today or tomorrow be held accountable for taking a life that only you can give. May you cover our family in your hearts today tomorrow and forever in Jesus name amen and it says justice for Doff
Starting point is 01:47:18 So long live Doff man Send the healing energy to his family always I don't know why I thought that case was closed That was one more person. He's not to shoot he was the driver Got you. That decided to go all the way with it but we'll see that happens Yeah so I just wanted to send her some love She watches the show she has hit me about the clips
Starting point is 01:47:34 and stuff. So I wanted to do that. That's good morning. Yes. Now, changing gears, we're going to head on over to a Nause and a Nause conversation. And I don't know why, and maybe y'all could tell me better, why is Nause always the person that people want to debate about his legacy and his career?
Starting point is 01:47:50 Because he liked it. Maybe that's why. But I didn't know it was a debate. What's the debate? People always try to have this conversation about relevancy when it comes to Naz and how relevant he is or he isn't. And knowing the song's not knowing the song. I've seen that in reason. I mean, I only saw that once with the little young boy was saying he like Jim Jones better than
Starting point is 01:48:08 Nas but Nas is on the Mount Rushmore like there's no debate about who Nas is definitely on the Mount Rushmore probably one of the nicest lyrics in hip hop ever yes he's that guy he's one of them he's one of them one yes I'm not arguing with you guys I'm just saying I don't understand why people even like to toss up the conversation but speaking of conversation so Fabio who's home now he sat down with Jim Jones Jim Jones has a platform that he's doing called FTC. It's like artist to artist and he sits down and has these conversations and Fabio has been dragged from one of his takes about Nas in the conversation. Let's take a listen.
Starting point is 01:48:42 Look what I just went through with the whole Nause situation and shit like that. I told him you better than not. I'm gonna tell you why. No, let's not get it. Let me just say one thing. I grew up with like Sosa, Gino. And I'm not saying that the man is wacky. He's not a legend. He's been been out for years. Look at a song with the n'b. But I can't sit there and say a Nause ball to you or a song I like one mic or like a song but I can't
Starting point is 01:49:07 Nause was my arrow like I came up when I like we knew I know the Nause yeah so people of course were pretty upset about the comments and I will say maybe the I don't know if it's like the tone or demeanor or what but I didn't think that he was disin Nause I thought he was just being honest about not being able to name songs but understanding that he's a legend but
Starting point is 01:49:25 conversation took a life of his own of course Clips. Hey can I say something real quick? Go ahead I don't give a damn wood Favio for him and think about Nass. I don't care. Why not? Fabio is 34 years old, right? He didn't grow up on Nause. He grew up on his
Starting point is 01:49:41 he said his biggest influence was Chief Keefe. And that's his opinion. And there's nothing wrong with that. That was his error. Yeah, what error is and, you know. There are people that, you know, when you hear rappers, they be like, oh, I really wasn't into Jay-Z. You know what I mean? They weren't in the big. Like, they weren't into certain people, but
Starting point is 01:49:58 that's fine. That's his opinion. But I don't care. Nause is such. solidify, regardless of what Fabio Ford thinks about nods. Yeah, wait, in 20 years from now, in 30 years from now you'll still be hearing the fire rule the world. Y'all are teaching me nothing? I'm just bringing the conversation here. I think my main point is, is why is it always not?
Starting point is 01:50:17 Because remember 21 Savage has tried to make the comment about the relevancy and irrelevancy before two, and people had to come out and be like, it's Nause, what are we talking about right now? It is, they do between Nod's and JZ. People like to do that as well. You know why? Because Nause and Jay-Z are the bar. When you're the bar, people are always going to compare themselves to you. Like, you're the bar.
Starting point is 01:50:38 Like, that's just the reality of the situation. You're going to always be the person that somebody, you know, wants to make a comparison about. Because you're the bar. Like, I like Chingi. That's exactly why I don't care about what I'm probably a foreign thing. That's exactly. What?
Starting point is 01:50:55 I was the whole era. Like, he had a chameleonair too. Definitely had this. By the way, you're not lying. I'm not going to sit there and act like chingy and million they didn't have a moment. Yeah, thank you. But there's a difference between moments, relevancy, and consistently classic. Legacy. Like, we acting like
Starting point is 01:51:09 Nause didn't just put out King's Disease Volume 1 through 3. And we want a Grammy for that. You're right. Like, come on, we got to start. Like, this is stupid. But like, we're comparing Nause to a lot of these artists, like, come on. It's silly. At some point, we just got to start starting some of this stuff is silly. But it's also people's
Starting point is 01:51:25 opinion. Yeah. And I mean, the conversation was actually a good conversation with Jim and Fabio. And it's actually, it's I-FSI factory. It's the intellectual factory of content that Jim Jones is doing. He's producing a bunch of content, a bunch of different artists. He feels like media gets it wrong, so he's trying to get it right for artists like him.
Starting point is 01:51:42 Now, in other news, speaking of... Probably I didn't get it right just now. I don't think he said anything wrong. He was being honest. That's his opinion. Yeah. In other news... And by the way, he didn't dis-niz. He just says... That's what I'm saying. Jim was more, I guess... He followed Jim and Chief Keith Moore. He followed Niles. He didn't dis-nosed.
Starting point is 01:51:59 Y'all remember, Jake Kwan? Everybody in clear of getting sick. What's the next story? Don't worry about it because I'm sick at the time I say something. Y'all don't, y'all can't relate. Shabuzi just made Jaquan a million plus probably.
Starting point is 01:52:13 Period. Because they wasn't out in a tipsy's curse. Well, I was going to just say in other news, speaking of artists, Little John is viral all over the world. I see now you're talking about some of life. Right now. I saw this video yesterday and I didn't know
Starting point is 01:52:29 Lord John was so put together under the clothing. NV you about to go look at him? No. Okay, I thought you was looking it up. I got the video for you. He's right here. I know you'd be in a gym and me you'd be trying. You should link with bro because he's doing very well. But this is not new. He's been posting content like this. There's another
Starting point is 01:52:45 video of him. I think it's like a week or two. You know, Lodon been like this for years. I did not know. And it started from the inside out because little John is also really big on meditation. He actually put out a meditation album. I think it was like maybe a year ago. He came up there? No, he wasn't. Did he come up here? No, he did not. Lord John has never been up here.
Starting point is 01:53:01 I thought John came up here. They're talking about the meditation now? I could have sworn he came up here. No, you're wrong. I would love to have a conversation with Lord John. Any opportunity I get to celebrate little John, I will because he is one of the most underrated, underappreciated cultural hip-hop thing is ever. It's called Total Meditation.
Starting point is 01:53:16 It came out in 2024, yep. I don't know. I did not know that he had that. And that's a genre. What you're just saying, that was, you talk about people who had moments. Lord John had about a million of them. Period. My thought a little John was up there.
Starting point is 01:53:27 Sloops a little John. We need you up here, John. He has done songs that I don't even know about my last. we were just talking about it behind the scenes you what's something you so neat? Oh the Capleton Tor joint you didn't know he did goodies I did not know that he did goodies
Starting point is 01:53:40 What's the era? He did do goodies right? I don't know I did no idea but I thought Jazzy Faye did goodies I don't know who did goodies Jazzy Faye was a more show to Jazzi Fee No it's that song by Little John though I don't remember I know all I know is When you when you talk about the era of
Starting point is 01:53:56 Crunk the genre called Crunk Little John was the face of it Don't get me wrong, 3-6 Mafia created it, but Lil John took it to a whole other level. Then you got snap music. Then you got some club records like shots, shots, shots, and turned down for what?
Starting point is 01:54:07 And when you just talk about personalities, top five hip-hop personality of all time, man. Come on, man. When you can be spoofed. When you can be spoofed by Dave Chappelle, you're a top-five personality of all time. Yo. Yes.
Starting point is 01:54:20 Blow the whistle. Shake that monkey. I did not know he was a part of the movies. I never heard no damn shake that monkey now. Calm down and here. What? What did shake that monkey? And racist just when you.
Starting point is 01:54:29 I'm going to blow it with some shake I'm honking What is you talking about? I need to spend more time on Little John's Instagram All I know is little John is one of the most underrated underappreciated cultural hip-hop figures ever we should all be celebrating Little John
Starting point is 01:54:42 Okay And the fact that Liljohn has never been up there It really pisses me off now Little John, John if you're listening Come on. Embed you still wait and stop through the city Yes he got to I know he's the right on his glasses
Starting point is 01:54:53 I know you've been trying to figure your arms out Little John has it figured out Look at that video He sure did. I got to spend more time on his Instagram. I had no idea. He was doing yoga and everything. No John's dress look dope too.
Starting point is 01:55:05 Thank you for putting me on, Unk. I appreciate it. I didn't know. I did not know. You need to spend more time about my hair. What? What? He said little John hair and looked better than yours.
Starting point is 01:55:14 Nobody said that. Stop. And he didn't a jam girl. By the way, the reason I really don't mind my lowering head because I grew up off Lord John. So being in the club back in the day and everybody used to get crunk and be sweaty. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:55:26 The head would get off smelly. That reminds you She's never sweaty, right? Okay The girl is never sweaty, let's stop. Like, huh? What? Lauren is never sweaty.
Starting point is 01:55:35 No. How should go from ashy to sweaty? We never said to sweaty. We can't pick a, like, couldn't pick a face, can't pick a fire. You know what I mean? It's just all in the mix. That was the latest with Lauren.
Starting point is 01:55:45 All right. People's Choice mixes up next is the breakfast club. Good morning. Morning, everybody is DJ NV. Just hilarious. Salomey Naga. We are the breakfast club. Now we got to salute Joey Badass

Starting point is 01:56:07 And we were talking about Little John earlier, the icon Little John. Little John did produce Sierra Goodies. I love it. Yes. I did not even know that. He did. His voice is on it, right, in the beginning of it, mom, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:18 I just couldn't remember. The man has produced so much. Yeah, man. Petty Pablo, raised up. No, that was Timberland. Pete did Petit Pablo Freakily. Freakily, freaky. And he did, uh, Usher, yeah, he definitely did Usher, yeah, he definitely did, uh, lovers and friends. Absolutely. I mean, Little John is an eye. We do not celebrate Little John enough. To me, he is the absolute positively most underrated, underappreciated producer and cultural hip-hop figure probably ever, bro.
Starting point is 01:56:44 I'm telling you, this man, like he's like Little John different, man. Little John gave us a whole era. Sure did. A whole era. A whole era. A whole era.
