Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? Answer, a new podcast called Wisecrack, where a comedian finds himself at the center of a chilling true crime story. Does anyone know what show they've come to see? It's a story. It's about the scariest night of my life. This is Wisecrack, available now.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, luckily, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend's been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That seems inappropriate.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Maybe find out how it ends by listening to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. It's a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, terrorism. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System
Starting point is 00:01:36 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Hunter, host of Hunting for Answers on the Black Effect Podcast Network. Join me every weekday as I share bite-sized stories of missing and murdered black women and girls in America. Stories like Erica Hunt. A young mother vanished without a trace after a family gathering on 4th of July weekend 2016. No goodbyes, no clues, just gone. Listen to hunting for answers every weekday on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Good morning, USA!

Starting point is 00:03:01 matinee because I got to be to work on Monday right guys? You're going to be so damn tired you got shows and you're going to do meet and greets after every show after every show and since his home people just don't want to take a picture they're going to talk they're going to tell you I know you from when you was back then and I remember when you did this
Starting point is 00:03:16 and then that that that da da da da da da da da da da da you're already in the comments doing it like oh my god I'm your aunt see I used to watch you went okay No, stop neglecting your aunts. No, no, no, no. They're friends of my mother or friends of my father. That mean they're your aunts and uncles.
Starting point is 00:03:31 And they head, okay? You are right. You're right. But I'm excited, though. I ain't going to lie. Baltimore is the only, um, Baltimore is the only city I get nervous to do, though. Really? Well, that's old.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Yeah. But do you have to, do you make sure you curb what you're saying or say different things because you know it's going to be your mom's friends and they're going to be some church people? There's a whole new set. Okay. I do a whole. different set for Baltimore. I know how they talk.
Starting point is 00:03:56 I know the slang. I'm from there. I know what they want to hear. All of that, right? So I already, I already know. But, oh, yeah, I've definitely talked about my friends and my family and all that. So they won't stay for meet and greet.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Got you. Got you, got you, got you. All right. I see what you're doing there. Well, listen, we have an incredible show for you this morning, man. The former executive director of the NFLPA, DeMorris Association. That's right.
Starting point is 00:04:15 DeMores Smith. That's what I just said. Yeah, but people don't might not know but PA any plays association. DeMores Smith, he has a new book out called Turf Wars. to fight for the Soul of America's game. He'll be here joining us. That's right.
Starting point is 00:04:27 And also, man, we got Black Royalty, Black Hollywood Royalty will be here. Tay Diggs. T Diggs. Oh, T-D. T-D. Why don't say his name like that? I said his name like Stacy. Damn.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Wow. Yes, it's just Tate Diggs. Y'all said, Tate Zigs. Like, don't do that. He launched a new production company along with Troy Bookings and Jay Carter. They got a new movie called Another Man's Wife. That's right. That'll be coming out.
Starting point is 00:04:51 And they'll be here to talk to us about all things. things Hollywood and why they decided to start their own production company. They're tired of waiting on people. That's right. Jay Carter is actually the director of the movie I Hate I Love You, that executive produced by me on Peacock. Y'all go watch that now. Okay. We'll talk about that as well.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Hold on now. It says two be on the paper now. The two be of Peacup. It's both. Don't do that. It's both. Don't do that because once Peacock gets something, excuse me, you want to do that. Okay, okay, okay, got you.
Starting point is 00:05:18 All right, well, let's get the show cracking. We got front page news with Mimi. She's here. And now let's getting some front. page news. Start off quickly with some sports. Now, Caitlin Clark announced she will miss the rest of the WNBA season. Now, this is due to injuries, so she's going to miss the season.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Angel Reese, she got a one game. The season almost over. I think they start the playoffs in about a week or two. Now, Angel Reese, she got a one game suspension by the WNBA. That's for picking up her eighth technical foul. True, the season almost over. Damn. You have more games they got left one?
Starting point is 00:05:50 Speaking of season over, and the Cowboys lost last. night, the Philadelphia Eagles beat them 2420. How does that mean the season is over, sir? You act like the Giants not going to be 0-1 after Sunday when they play the Redskins. I'm not talking about us. I'm talking about you right now. I want you to realize your hypocrisy, because you're going going to have to deal with this on Sunday. We're winning
Starting point is 00:06:07 Sunday. That's what you believe? I believe that. Who do your team play Sunday in? Huh? The Redskins? Oh, okay. The Giants and Cowboys will be looking up at the Eagles and the Redskins in the NFC East all year long. We're winning. What's
Starting point is 00:06:21 what's the brother's name that got suspended? yesterday. He got kicked out the game. Jalen Carter? Jalen Carter, yeah, Jalen Carter, who plays... I went to bed after the delay. Once the delay happened, I went to sleep. I'm like, you know, I'm too old to be staying up, to be... They said they weren't when did the game even start back? 11.30. Come on, man. Nobody got time.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Now, this is the crazy thing about it. Jailen Carter, he was ejected for spitting on Dak Prescott right before the first snap. It was crazy. He spit on him. He thought Dax Prescott was spitting on him. Dak Prescott said, no, I spit on the floor and the gentleman spit on him, and he was kicked out the game. Now, it was a delay yesterday because of thunderstorms. I woke back up at 1130.
Starting point is 00:06:53 He said eight minutes left, and I was like, what? This is a long-ass game. I went right back to sleep. But morning, Mimi. Good morning, y'all. All right, so we're going to start on Capitol Hill this morning where Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., faced a contentious Senate hearing going head to head with lawmakers over vaccine policies,
Starting point is 00:07:12 recent CDC shakeups, and the administration's broader approach to public health. Now, senators, they grilled Kennedy on vaccine safety, federal health guidelines, and his leadership changes at the CDC. The exchanges, they grew pretty heated with lawmakers accusing him of undermining public trust, while others defended his effort to increase transparency and reshape the federal health policies. Among the toughest critics, though,
Starting point is 00:07:38 was Senator Rafael Warnock of Georgia, who represents the state where the CDC is headquarters, Warnock, Slam Kennedy, calling him the biggest threat to the health of the American people. Let's listen to that exchange. Despite your lack of credential, and expertise. Clearly you have an agenda. It is a threat to the public health of the American people. It's clear that you are carrying out your extremist beliefs, which is why you attempted
Starting point is 00:08:06 to fire. Sir, I'm not, I'm sickest people on the earth. I'm speaking. How am I? Secretary Kennedy, for the first time, we're seeing deaths from children from measles. We haven't seen that in two decades. We're seeing that under your watch. You are a hazard to the health of the American people. Damn. Jesus. Now that went on for about three hours. Kennedy defended his leadership while pushing back against senators who accused him of spreading misinformation and undermining the CDC's credibility. And he argued that his reforms are designed to restore trust and give Americans facts and not politics. And moving on to the latest in the job numbers, there are new numbers out this morning from the government's
Starting point is 00:08:51 joltz report that's the jobs opening and labor turnover survey. They show the job market is slowing down for the first time since the pandemic. There are more people looking for work than there are jobs available. Nearly 7.23 million
Starting point is 00:09:07 Americans are unemployed. That's compared to 7.18 million job openings. That's the lowest level we've seen since December of 2020. And when you add in another 1.7 million people who are, quote, discouraged workers. That's people who want a job, but have stopped looking. That's nearly nine million Americans that are effectively out of work. So when asked
Starting point is 00:09:30 about these numbers yesterday in the White House, this is what President Trump had to say. The real numbers that I'm talking about are going to be whatever it is, but we'll be in a year from now with these monstrous, huge, beautiful places, the palaces of genius. And when they start opening up, you're seeing, I think you'll see job numbers that are going to be absolutely incredible. Right now it's a lot of construction numbers, but you're going to see job numbers like our country has never seen before. Thank you very much. How do you come up with the numbers of like that though, right? Like who does, is that like some type of census? How do we know the percentage of discouraged workers? Well, see, Jess, I'm glad you asked that question
Starting point is 00:10:12 because the president just fired the person who is in charge of keeping track of those numbers because he didn't like the report. So there was a week July report, so they fired him, and then here come the August numbers, which are even worse. And so, you know, Trump is saying, oh, the numbers are going to come out next week, but economists, or excuse me, next year, trust those numbers. But economists are warning that literally if we can't, we have no one in charge of overseeing those numbers, how are we going to know? that we can trust the numbers that are going to even come out as we continue to see the job market slow down. And you know, another question I ask when they say more Americans are seeking work than jobs available, like what kind of work? What kind of jobs? Well, I'm glad you asked that question too, Charlemagne, because they're saying that there are more part-time jobs available. So when
Starting point is 00:11:01 you hear jobs, they're like a lot of the jobs have, the job growth has stalled, but more people are getting part-time jobs and full-time jobs because there's just really no full-time jobs available. So the numbers in itself are misleading because people are under-employed if that makes sense. Gotcha. And you know, even when the RFK Jr. thing, I want to go back real quick. I blame
Starting point is 00:11:22 America. For what? Because they should make it the way you have to have a certain level of credentials and expertise to hold these positions. Oh, absolutely. It only makes sense. I don't, you're talking about some of the highest positions in the land. Shouldn't you have some type of level of credentials and expertise when we're talking about all these other jobs?
Starting point is 00:11:38 You have to put your resume down. You have to put down what it is you've done in order to even get some of these part-time jobs, maybe we're just talking about so why shouldn't it be like that for these full-time jobs and these high-level positions in government? You should have some type of credentials and expertise. Well, that's what, when you have a president that's not necessarily accredited, right?
Starting point is 00:11:54 But that's my point. That's why I blame America. America should make it the way you have to have a certain level of credentials and expertise to hold these high positions in government. Well, you should run for president and change the rules. I don't have no credentials. Somebody always told him and he'd be like, I would never, I would never do that. Well, thank you. You know why?
Starting point is 00:12:09 Why? Because the bar. The bar is low because of Trump. That's actually an insult when people would be like, you know what? You should run for president. Like you're not a qualified person. They're only saying that because the bar is in hell. Pretty much.
Starting point is 00:12:21 They obviously see you to be smarter than the current president. That's not a flex. I know it's not a flex for the president. It's not a flex. All right. Well, coming up at 7, there's a surprising new health warning tied to your phone and the bathroom. We're going to tell you what researchers found.
Starting point is 00:12:35 And we'll talk about that next time. All right. We'll get into that next hour. Everybody else, get it off your chest. Matt's gotten something about some ass, yo. What are you talking about hemorrhoids? Like, 800-58-105-105-1. If you need to vent phone lines are wide open,
Starting point is 00:12:50 they're getting 800-585-105-1. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed. I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk. I hate the way that you dress. Everything with me is blessed.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Call up next. 800-585-10-1. Not just me. I'm with the coach of filling. Hello, who's this? Hey, good morning. This is James called from North Carolina. James, what's up, brother? Pete, James. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Peace, everybody. Peace. Yo, I have a problem with these anti-vaxas, man. Especially this Robert Kennedy guy, man. He is in no position to be telling people anything about health. I mean, he can't. Have y'all heard how he breathes? Yeah, we've interviewed him before. He's been a breakfast club.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Oh, my God. I mean, he ain't got no business telling nobody nothing. Think about this, man. Vaccines are important because it builds up an immunity to your system whenever you get those shots for whatever the illness is. And if people think that there's problems with that. Just think about this, there would be no military if there was a problem with vaccines because every military personnel has to have vaccines unless you're alerted to something.
Starting point is 00:14:07 I understand the vaccine hesitancy, though. Especially amongst black people. I mean, when you think about the medical mistrust that, you know, we feel because it, you know. With the Tuskegee, Henrietta Lax case, there's a lot of different reasons why we feel the way that we feel. I understand. And then there are natural ways to boost your immunity, though. You know what I mean? Like, a vaccine is not the only way to do that.
Starting point is 00:14:28 You know, you got to really be careful about the things that you're putting in your body. You got to do research on all that stuff. It's a new vaccine every few months, every year. You know what I mean? And then you find out after you how it took it is being recalled. Every time I have chest pain now, I'd be like, Matt should have never got that damn COVID shot. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:14:44 I'd be feeling like, I had no cardiovascular issues until, like, I got that goddamn COVID shot probably ago. Because it kind of forced us to get the COVID shot, right? We didn't have an option if we wanted to continue to work, which sucks. And I'm not saying it was the vaccine. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that when I think about, you know, the changes that I've had over the last five years,
Starting point is 00:15:04 that was a big one getting that vaccine. Well, I didn't have any problem with it myself. But, yo, Elby, you think you can throw in the roots what they do? You said what? The roots, what they do? Oh, you want to hear what the roots. He ain't even know what you were talking about. He didn't talk about her roots at first.
Starting point is 00:15:20 I'm like, what are you talking about? He thought you were talking about his family history. He didn't feel like playing nothing from Dominican Republic. Look, you know he's not, Blake. What is that? What is roots? How do you ask what his roots? Nobody knew what he was talking about.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Yes, I did. I knew exactly what he was talking about. You ain't saying. Hello, who's this? I got you with the roots, though. Hello, who's this? I'm not. You just lied to this mess like that.
Starting point is 00:15:40 I said, I'm going to play it during the mix. I got him. I'm going to play root record. All right. Well, you ain't got to. Hello, who's this? Yo, what up? It's Keith from Brooklyn, you heard.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Keith from Brooklyn, you heard. What's up, y'all? What's up, y'all? What's up? Y'all, what? See? King. Hey, no, it ain't none.
Starting point is 00:15:55 God bless. Hey, yo, hey, yo, what's good with this Chinese parade? I ain't heard y'all talk about this. It happened like five days ago. Everybody's talking about it. CNN's talking about it. TVS news are talking about it Fox News talking about it, but I ain't hear y'all mention it yet
Starting point is 00:16:10 I ain't here I'm not no Chinese parade What? No what happened tell us Bro there is a whole These guys hold In China they had a military parade It was like the biggest thing All the no it's America's ops All of America's ops even India is involved
Starting point is 00:16:28 It's a big thing and they're trying to They're trying to say that oh They're trying to pose an alternate Global World Order and China is leading to charge. That's a big deal. I feel like people should be talking about that a lot more. James, we spoke about it.
Starting point is 00:16:42 And the president responded that he thought that they had a secret meeting behind him. But he's conflating two things. Like they had a summit where it was Putin and it was North Korea and it was China. But then the Chinese had their military parade, which they always had military. It was 27 world leaders, bro. It was mad. It was mad people involved. Either India, which is a big deal, that India went to that parade.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Russia went to that parade. Uh, uh, what's the, what's the dictator that's in, uh, North Korea, uh, Tim John Oun, yes. Yeah, Kim Jong, which is a big deal. They said that was the first time he's ever, uh, uh, uh, been in China in a long time or something like that. Like, that was a big deal. The Indian prime minister and Trump told them all, Trump said, yeah, get them all my warmest regards. Well, thank you, Keith for putting this on. As they conspire against the United States.
Starting point is 00:17:31 We talked about that. That's what I said. Yeah, we spoke about this. Did they have any performances? Yeah, little Kim. Take it off your chest 800585-105-105-1 If you need to vent
Starting point is 00:17:42 Hit us up now It's the Breakfast Club Good morning The Breakfast Club Wake up, wake up With your ass This is your time to get it off your chest Whether you are blessed
Starting point is 00:17:56 We want to hear from you on the breakfast club Hello who's this Hello who's this Hey what's going on y'all's Manalik, how you doing man? What's up Menalik? Manalik Hey, yeah, yeah
Starting point is 00:18:08 Menalique Manalik You see a bunch of people A bunch of guys Peeing on the side of the road Minna league If you want to say That is my daughter's
Starting point is 00:18:14 Goffawna name And he's Indian What's up? He what? What? He Indian. Menalick is the name of it Yeah, yeah
Starting point is 00:18:21 Yeah, but I just want to call to say I listen to the interview yesterday with Montau Jordan Kind of going to You know Do the same kind of thing right now With my wife Her cancer came back
Starting point is 00:18:31 Damn I already hear that Trying to have the You know, trying to have The conversation With your children which I have a toy or a daughter whose birthday
Starting point is 00:18:37 he's coming up too so you know I haven't played a birthday envy you know you're just trying to add a conversation kind of don't want to feel like he's still in the innocence you know what I'm saying by putting them in that kind of situation
Starting point is 00:18:48 by letting them know stuff that they're kind of changing you know so we're just trying to figure things out you know things out of financial hardship you know due to treatment and stuff that we like to go through the surgery
Starting point is 00:18:59 and trying to make way for my daughter birthday as well too it's just been like I struggled so my daughter saw me Yesterday with my hands in my head, I thought she was asleep, and she came over and said, it's okay, Daddy, you know, I know things are rough, but, you know, all I do is, all I want is a phone for my birthday. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:19:19 So I just lift my head up and started laughing and, you know, it's kind of, you know, the depression I was kind of in for a second, but, you know, so what we're trying to do now is trying to just trying to come up with some things for my daughter and, you know, we created a cash app for her. I don't know if I can be able to give it. Yes, you can. Absolutely. Put it out there. You know, well, her cash app is, um, is, uh, R. Marie 9-1-3.
Starting point is 00:19:45 And then I don't, I don't know if I can call back on birthday, which is a, you know, Saturday if I can call back Friday to try to, you know, so she can listen before she go to school and say, happy birthday or something like that. Definitely, you can call back. How do you spell the cash name, odd Marie? Oh, it's a R-R-Marie, M-A-R-I-E. Okay. Is there 9-1-3?
Starting point is 00:20:05 Okay. It says nothing is coming up for me. Yeah, it is, R-Marie, huh? What is it, R-Marie-9-1-3? Yep, yeah, R. Yeah. R-M-A-R-M-A-R-E-9-1-3. Why the hell I can't find. Send it to me, Jeff, please.

I've been telling all your brothers, man, make sure you go out there and get your blood test that they use the screen for prostate cancer get your PSA levels check go get that digital rectoral exam and get that finger in your butt, okay?
Starting point is 00:20:43 For real. Would you rather get a finger in your butt or die? Yeah, but you don't have to say that every single time. But it's just the reality. It's what happens. Make it a fun thing. Go there excited about it. Go to excited about it. People have this dread about going to get a digital rectorial exam.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Make it a fun thing. Play some dope music on the way to have. Go with your fun. friends y'all go together what song would you suggest to play on the way um juvenile back that ass up doing the butt yeah for real doing the butt

Starting point is 00:21:31 good morning We got the ladies coming up. Hey, Jessica, morning. Yes, we do. So, Young Thug has been blowing up Gloverilla's phone, trying to figure out what color her eyes is. And we're going to tell you why. He can't look at him.
Starting point is 00:21:43 He can't look at him. Oh, baby, don't these jail calls is really, I don't know, man. Oh, like, when he was in pro. Okay. Listen, whoever is releasing these calls, they got it out for Thug. And this might be the cream on top, the cherry on top, whatever it's called.
Starting point is 00:21:58 It's happening. The cream on top. Cherry on top. Cream cherry on. the things. We'll get to that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. And y'all can kiss my ass. I'm telling you right now I can put together a glow pack of 15 to 20 songs
Starting point is 00:22:15 that can compete with anybody. Yesterday it was 20 to 30. I said 15 to 20. I said 15 to 20. I can compete. I didn't say 20 to 30. Y'all saw all the people y'all may argue yesterday because of that. That glow real over, Nicky and Ige was everywhere yesterday where people argued. People arguing. People arguing. Smoking crack.
Starting point is 00:22:32 It was a lot of people that called me. People were tweeting me like, Charlemagne, not lying. There was a lot of people who sat in with Charlamagne. That was a big conversation yesterday after we had it. A lot of DJs were saying that too. I wouldn't, well. Yeah, I mean, I, what was the, what was the conversation though?
Starting point is 00:22:48 Because the conversation got switched mad times. The three. People were calling me. Then it was relevancy. Then it was right now. It was like the conversation. It got switched mad times. Well, it didn't.
Starting point is 00:22:59 You all just wasn't paying attention. No, people were calling me about the song. and making the songs, but online, people were like, y'all crazy. Nicky Minaj is Nicky Minaj. Like, they were trying to have the Who's the Bigger Celebrity? But then people were like, who makes the bigger song? Let's get back to Charlamagne's point. It was a little thing happening yesterday.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Now, you know what people should do? You know what people should do, yo. All right, now DJs, remember when we was in a pandemic? DJ should actually do a versus. Oh, that would be fire. Right. And do Nikki versus Glow. And then see and get the opinions from the people. Yep.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Yes. All right. Well, let's get to the latest with Laura. Lauren becoming a straight fat She gets them from somebody that knows somebody She gets to detail I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything She'd be having the latest on this
Starting point is 00:23:42 The latest with Lauren La Rosa Sometimes you have facts Sometimes she have details Sometimes she have a little bit everything Well it's the latest On the breakfast club Talk to me Well speaking of Glorilla
Starting point is 00:23:54 Yesterday there was a new Young Thug jail call that was released and he him, yo, they are, whoever is doing this, they are really coming for him and this might be the one. Yes. So he was on the phone with Mariah the science as his girlfriend, also
Starting point is 00:24:10 a singer, having a conversation about Gloria and her looks. Let's take a listen. I saw the girl on Gorilla. She Yeah. Why don't they have? People say she pretty. That's ugly. Is she ugly? Like, yeah, they say she ain't ugly. Men, they're saying she ain't, man.
Starting point is 00:24:27 They're just saying to the library on them. They're like goddamn Brianna. Watch out. She looked like Riona. Longed-a-bucket, that weird, skinned a shit, the head head head, big mouth. Watch out. It's crazy. They probably be really running around sneaking and sneaking with a toothy on the henna.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Yeah, I'm just a lot of the bina and stuff. I'm just feeling like sometimes a lot of nuches like that, it'll be like, if the girl was regular, and you wouldn't try to fuck the girl, you know? It's just like, she's got a number one song. Mm-hmm. Like, oh, let him, let him. Man, that's about nothing. I would not pursue her.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Oh, ever. That big-ass-haired mouth that, like, always laughing, look at that bitch. You look funny at this. Man, the girl look funny, man. Who the hell for some? Who trying to smack this? Man, you know, like trippy red or some fucking trying to hear all. You know what I'm gonna ask the same question I asked yesterday.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Was Thug a hater before he was in jail? Or was he just being bitter while he was in there? Okay. I didn't know he was a hater like me. My name is Ed. Everyone say, hello, Ed. Hello, Ed. I'm from a very rural background myself.
Starting point is 00:25:26 My dad is a farmer. And my mom is a cousin. What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. The 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house.
Starting point is 00:26:01 So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass. The injured were being. loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and Order Criminal Justice System is back.
Starting point is 00:27:05 In Season 2, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight. That's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the IHeart Radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously suspicious. Wait a minute, Sam, maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
Starting point is 00:27:42 He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now hold up. Isn't that against school policy? sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we
Starting point is 00:28:06 find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Hunter, host of Hunting for Answers on the Black Effect Podcast Network. Join me every weekday as I share bite-sized stories of missing and murdered black women and girls in America. There are several ways we can all do better at protecting black women. My contribution is shining a light on our missing sisters and amplifying their disregarded stories. Stories like Tamika Anderson. As she drove toward Galvez, she was in contact with several people, talking on the phone as she made her way to what should have been
Starting point is 00:28:48 a routine transaction. But Tamika never bought the car. And she never returned home that day. One podcast, one mission, save our girls. Join the searches we explore the chilling cases of missing and murdered black women and girls. Listen to hunting for answers every weekday on the Black Effect Podcast Network,
Starting point is 00:29:11 iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Like me, it's insane. Nigger, I was about to say that's not like a phone call where you're talking about Lauren. Yeah. That is crazy. Wow.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Just sounding so catty, so girly. But I don't talk behind your back, though. I don't talk behind your back. But this is the problem. He don't do that. I don't like this at all. You shouldn't be able to get video and audio of people's phone calls when they're in jail, right? Let's say he was talking about some health problems.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Let's say he was talking about his mother, his family. Like, this has nothing to do what he's in jail for. If he's making calls to his personal family members, his girlfriend, his fiance, his kids, these calls shouldn't be able to be certain. I don't know all the rules. I disagree only because it tells you that the phone call is being recorded when you make it.
Starting point is 00:29:59 You know, it's crazy. But it's usually for law purposes, not for the general public. But listen. I don't know that. I just know it tells me it was being recorded. If it's being recorded, man, it's liable to be anywhere.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Exactly. Anybody can get it. Yes. And that person on the other side of the phone should know that as well, too. So maybe someone should remind him when he was forgetting. That's right. But this is what's insane, right?
Starting point is 00:30:18 So this calls surfaces. Everybody's like, what the heck going crazy? I swear, not less than 10 minutes later, Glorilla got on X and she said, mind you, this is the same nigger blowing my phone up to ask what color my eyes is. L-M-A-O. Rihanna that.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Which is insane because, I mean, why you want to know what color her eyes is? Why are you all in her face? I think Thug needs a podcast with Azalea Banks. That'd be fired. If Thug talked to where he'd talk on them calls with a zelia, who-what? Crazy.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Well, you know, but I don't like that, man, I ain't gonna hold you. Me and my nigga are ever talking about nobody that he wouldn't holler at. Because what we're talking about anyway? Like, I would never holler at her. You on the phone with your girls, sir. There's so many other things that you can be talking about than, um, Glorilla being ugly. Like that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, she's not ugly, because I'm gonna, hell no, she's not ugly.
Starting point is 00:31:09 No, she's not ugly. But look, Mariah funny too. Some of it. People say she looked like Rihanna. Like, she's funny. That's funny. I see what you did there, girl Well, it didn't work out in her favor
Starting point is 00:31:21 Because she looks crazy now Young thug responded to Gloria And he added her He said, first of all, I'm sorry to you For my words And I honestly don't think you're ugly at all I was speaking from jail Just having a hard time with life
Starting point is 00:31:34 I don't like bashing girls And hardly ever did I'm sorry to you twin That's real They didn't call the twin Called the ugly again That is crazy People was like bro you called her twin
Starting point is 00:31:44 Don't do that No, that's Atlanta slang. We know, but people were being funny because it's like, why would you ever say that about her in the first place? Shut up. Yeah, that's Atlanta slang, twin. That's not just Atlanta slang. That's not just a lot. We know, unks, it was just funny.
Starting point is 00:31:59 I thought it was Atlanta slang. I ain't know. It is. Okay, go ahead. They used to twin everywhere. Say what you was going to say. But that's how most of us sound when we're on the phone with our people, by the way. But not on a recorded call, Charlemagne.
Starting point is 00:32:10 You don't know what these calls be recorded? But that's my point. Like, I really thought that. Only the federal government can use those calls if it was some crime or something to talk about a crime. I didn't know that if you're talking about personal business. I don't know what you're making that face for. You, yes. What?
Starting point is 00:32:24 I know you're going to hear of a record call from Jess with the mess. And her news is real. Her cause is crazy, I'm sure. People hear how you talk when you're not on the phone. Okay. Okay. That is, I'll be on their key key, key, okay. The only difference between me and a lot of people, I key key key key key, and if the person key key key key a little bit too much on the phone, I'm going to bring it to the radio.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Because if you enjoy it, he will Don't talk to you on the phone no more now Well, people have been waiting for Young Thug to speak on some things And I don't know the release date But I did see yesterday that he will be up next As the guest on perspectives with bank So that will be dropping soon And he's going to have a lot that he's going to have to address
Starting point is 00:33:06 Okay I'm going to tell you that one It's already done. They did it early this week Okay, so we should be here now soon And also Glover really wanted to remind y'all yesterday was Beyonce's day we're going to give Beyonce the rest of this week she said let's not make today about me okay
Starting point is 00:33:20 she wanted to remind you it's Beyonce's day give Beyonce her time Gloria should drop a record there's a lot of chat about Gloria yesterday online say I'm ugly oh man salute to Glorilla all right pull up a Glorilla record too when we come back we got front page news Mimi
Starting point is 00:33:37 let's stop playing with that girl man we got to stop playing with that girl in early definitely got that in the system yes we should we had I think you've asked to play that before yes please stop playing with that girl, man. Y'all stop playing with Big Glow. And then after front page news,
Starting point is 00:33:48 DeMora Smith will be joining us. So he's the former executive director of the NFL Players Association. So we'll talk to him next. I'm just stalling a little bit until Red pulls up the Glorilla record. Tell me when you got it. He got it.
Starting point is 00:33:59 You got it, Matt? No, he ain't got it yet. I don't, oh, wait. Eddie, put that in the system. Glorilla, stop playing with that girl. You said two seconds? No, never mind. I'm not going to bring the move down.
Starting point is 00:34:09 What you're about to say? What happened? No, tell us. No, I'm just going to say today. It's Roland Ray's birthday, too. Oh, yeah. He passed away. He passed away this week.
Starting point is 00:34:16 I think he passed away. We don't know. His mom just posted online that he had passed away, but we don't know what happened. And yesterday it was a lot of, like, celebrities just like, because he's been interacting with so many celebrities online. He's a social media influencer.
Starting point is 00:34:28 He was also on Zeus. Cardi B. had posted yesterday and was like, Roland Ray was a menace, but he changed so much and became so positive. I know that soul made it to heaven, you will truly be missed. Big Purr. You know, the first time I met Roland Ray, they had did a, we had a spin off. Remember Catfish?
Starting point is 00:34:42 We did a spinoff of Catfish that I was hosting. And he was the first episode because he was team, who was he, was he Team Nicky or Kim? Yeah, he was team Nicky. And he was going against somebody that was on Team Kim. And, you know, it was, the show was called trolls. So it was literally about people who used to troll each other online, and then we would have them meet up.
Starting point is 00:35:01 And he was wilding then. Ain't he funny? I'm sure you can find out on YouTube. I love Roland Ray, but my favorite video is when he was getting at the cops when he was protesting for George Floyd. That is my favorite video. I love Roller Ray. Jocelyn Hernandez also posted yesterday and said this one hurts my heart.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Long live roller. Yes, yep. All right, we got it. Well, let's get this. It's Glorilla here. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. You're checking out the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:35:27 DJ NV. Jess Salarious, Charlemagne de Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get some front page news. Start off some quick sports. Now, yesterday they announced that Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are set to fight in exhibition. boxing match in 2026. Just silly, man. You're all excited?
Starting point is 00:35:46 Y'all want to see it? No. I mean, it's just silly. Hell no. Yo, what? Yeah, well, make your money. The Tyson and Jake Paul fight wasn't even good like that. Nope. You know why? The reason I don't be excited for these fights, because we know that they're not going out there to actually fight. Right. You know what I'm saying? So they'd be charging us
Starting point is 00:36:02 these crazy amounts to watch these fights where they're not really even banging on each other. If they were actually going out there to bang on each other, I'd be like, okay, I'll watch, but they're not doing that. No. Is this a money grant? That's all it is. What's up, Mimi? All right, y'all. We'll talk about the open AI.
Starting point is 00:36:16 They're rolling out new safety measures. They're aimed at protecting teenagers who use chat GPT, giving parents more control and better tools to keep their kids safe online. So for the first time, parents will be able to link their accounts with their teens, set up age-appropriate rules, and even manage features like chat history and memory settings. The goal is more oversight, more transparency when kids are interacting with AI. One of the biggest changes, and the most talked about, is a new system that will alert parents if ChatGTP detects that a teen might be in acute emotional stress. This is the first time that AI will proactively flag potentially high-risk moments to an adult, something experts say, could be critical in preventing harm.
Starting point is 00:37:01 Now, these new safety measures come as Open AI, the company behind ChatGPT faces growing scrutiny following the tragic death of 16-year-old Adam Rain in California. California, Adams' parents, they filed a wrongful death lawsuit, claiming that ChatGPT gave harmful advice when he expressed suicidal thoughts. Now, the tragedy, it sparked nationwide concerns and increased pressure on OpenAI to add stronger safe guides and better protections for teenagers. And I know you all have children and everyone's using Chat GTP now. Does this sound like it will be a little safer for kids to use nowadays? I'm so. So that way you can see what your kids are doing. So, yeah, I would think so.
Starting point is 00:37:39 Yeah, that's the biggest thing. The biggest thing is just monitoring what your kids are doing, man. Like, you know, we're acting like these new advancements in technology are, like, are different than anything that we grew up on. Like, when we had television, cable television, our parents monitored what we were watching. It's to be the same thing with this. You should monitor what your kids are doing on social media. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:38:00 Or on ChatGPT, AI, whatever it is. And speaking of our relationship with technology, we were just talking about the earlier story with ChatGPT, Let's talk about another habit that most of us have But rarely admit to It's called bathroom scrolling That's when you take your phone to the bathroom And you end up deep diving through social media emails while you're on the toilet
Starting point is 00:38:21 So girl y'all y'all and your feet will fall asleep And you will sit there like Oh my God, why don't I just do this? Right like who's like M.V. Charlemagne Does y'all do that take your phone in the bathroom And just lose track of time Because that's a thing No I do
Starting point is 00:38:36 Well if you don't You're lucky because most researchers found that most people do that, and it is bad for your health. They looked at 125 adults and found that two-thirds admitted to using their phone in the bathroom, mostly for social media, emails, and checking up on the news. But here's the issue. People who bring their phones with them into the bathroom or 46% more likely to have hemorrhoids than those who didn't. Oh, my God. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:06 They say, doctors say the real issue. is about how long you sit. So if you stay too long, that puts extra strain on your body and smartphones make it worse because it keeps you there. You lose track of time. And so they say there's also,
Starting point is 00:39:19 I don't know if y'all thought of this, the germ factor flushing since tiny particles into the air and it ends up on your phone. Yo, how about this, Mimi? How about you going there? You go in the bathroom with your phone. You do it number two.
Starting point is 00:39:32 You wipe your ass. Then you pick your phone up and then go wash your hands. Now you got E. coliolide all over your phone. I've been thought it. Like, why? I don't understand. That's common sense. Like, that makes no sense to me.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Why people do that? I don't know. Because a lot of people are doing it. They say, actually, they thought it was just the younger generation, but now they're seeing it more in people in their 40s and their 50s. So they have no excuse. And sometimes, when I be in a bed firm up there, I will be on my phone in the store, in the toilet.
Starting point is 00:39:59 And I hear somebody right next to me flush the toilet, but I don't hear the sink. What you're doing? Well, because after the sink is outside the toilet. No. Oh, so you can't hear the sink outside of the toilet? outside of the song? You should be in there. After you just leave the bathroom
Starting point is 00:40:11 that she didn't watch the head. Yeah, yeah. She said on the toilet, on the den and say, you mean after they lead it? No, I said I'll be on the toilet and I hear somebody next to me on another toilet and I hear them flush the toilet but I don't hear the sink when they come out. Yeah, exactly. I mean what you're saying, Jess. I got you. But they're saying
Starting point is 00:40:27 Mimi, that you're supposed to only stay on the toilet five minutes. Five minutes is the longest. That's a five minute rule. Thank you, NB. Five minute rule. The five minute rule is this. If nothing happens, get up and try again later. If the magic doesn't happen in five minutes, doctors say it is just not going to happen. Yeah, because you're not post the screen. People don't realize you're not post the screen when you're on a toilet.
Starting point is 00:40:44 They're supposed to just come out. What if you constipated? You have to. That's the problem. That's what she means. Like, you have to change your life. Yeah. But there are just certain times you have to disconnect.
Starting point is 00:40:54 When you're eating, put your phone away. When you're on the toilet, put your phone away. When you're in bed, put your phone away. Shoot, when you're watching TV. Like, you don't always have to be on your phone. That's why I recommend books like digital minimalism by Cal Newport. and from the internet to the internet how to disconnect from your phone
Starting point is 00:41:12 and reconnect with your life. Go pick those two books up. Read those years ago. And we got to read a book to disconnect with the phone. And the book is on the phone. Right. Yes. I can't wait until just come out with a book.
Starting point is 00:41:26 It's coming soon. But don't you even like to read. No, no, he's not. No, they not. All right. Well, thank you, Mimi. That is your front page news. I'm Mimi Brown.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Follow me on social at Mimi Brown. TV. And for more news coverage, follow the Black Information Network or download the free iHeartRadio app and visit BINNews.com. Yes, ma'am. All right now. Everybody else, when we come back, DeMoris Smith will be joining us. He's the former executive director of the NFL Players Association, and we'll talk to him next. Yes, and also, today is Friday, so you know what that means. It is the people's donkey. So you can call up here right now and give somebody the credit they deserve for being stupid. 1-800-5-805-105. one, who's going to get the biggest he hard this morning?
Starting point is 00:42:09 You decide. I just figured you was going to give Jalen caught a dog here today, but maybe somebody will. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Charlemagne de Guy. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Lawlerosa is here as well. We got a special guest in the building. Yes, indeed. He said, just call him D. D.D. Ladies and gentlemen, Demaris Smith. Welcome. Man, it's a pleasure.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Thank you for having me. I'm sorry I'm a little late. I would have crushed breakfast had I been here earlier. You still got time to get some. Done. Done. Done. You're the former executive director of the NFLPA. Tell us what that title
Starting point is 00:42:46 helped. You know, simply you're the head of the union. You represent all 1835 players. You go to war with 31 billionaires. You do the best to make sure our guys get paid. You make sure that they have health care. Make sure that
Starting point is 00:43:01 they have control over their work. You govern their pensions. Their post-career training, everything. So the union representing a lot of players, and they're young. For most of our guys, it's their first job, which makes it difficult to sometimes represent them because they've never had the kind of jobs I had coming up, paper routes, working at a pizza place. Those guys come into the business of football, believing in understanding how to play the game. They know virtually nothing about the ruthlessness and the cutthroat nature of the business.
Starting point is 00:43:35 And your job as the head of the union, at least for me, I only had one way of doing it. You know, my coach used to call it 10 toes to the wine every day, going up against the guys who, you know, sit in the sky suites and want our dudes to work. And then the other thing is, man, just tell the guys the truth. And sometimes they don't want to hear it because they've grown up in a culture of football that rewards them for everything they do on the field. And they have a misunderstanding that Jerry Jones doesn't care. Wow.
Starting point is 00:44:06 And Robert Kraft doesn't care. That's real. And, you know, there's always that sign on Draft Day that says, welcome to the NFL family. And I told the same rookies for 14 years, you are not in the family because you are not in the will. It's real. I mean, again, some guys don't like to hear that because it's a little brutal.
Starting point is 00:44:29 That's where I came from. And that's kind of the way I know how to do business. But you're not in the will. What's the most difficult thing you have to deal with with being headed at the union as far as dealing with teams? What's the worst thing that, the most thing that they hate giving up? I'm sure you can say money.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Control. What type of control? All of it. You know, I forget who it was, listening to Deion, who was always great to me. He always had this line. You either chase the game or chase the bag, right? You know, the bag, you chase the money, and sometimes our guys are just focused on the money.
Starting point is 00:44:59 What drives the NFL is control. They want to control. everything. For example, up until 2011, the National Football League had the unilateral right, exclusive right, to add as many games to the schedule as possible. Which is crazy. They could have gone up to 21 games, 23 games, if they wanted to. I mean, I'm a little older than everybody else in the room. Don't say anything else. Happy birthday. Thank you, brother. But I remember a 14 game
Starting point is 00:45:27 season. I remember a 16 game season. You know, when it went from 14 to 16, the players never got any more money. Wow. I didn't know that. Nobody does, right? It's control. So they don't get paid for the extra game? No. When they went from a 12-game season to a 14-game season to a 16-game season, they never got an
Starting point is 00:45:47 increased share of revenue. I get it because their contract is already set for the year. You just spread out the money longer, right? And even guys, when I came in in 2009, didn't understand that. Right? Yes, revenue increases, so the cap goes up. So in 2011, I mean, we went through a war. I mean, they declare a war on us.
Starting point is 00:46:07 I do war. The big win for the players in 2011 was we wrestled back that unilateral control, and we got the ability to govern our work. So, you know, that resulted in, you know, you fast forward to 2020.
Starting point is 00:46:23 The league won at a 17th game. Fine. You know, the players wanted a 17th game. Fine. Some players didn't want a 17th game. Fine. But it's a democracy. So the players voted for a 17th game. The kicker there was the league bought a 17th game in 2020 for approximately
Starting point is 00:46:39 $1.6, $1.7 billion over a 10-year period. It was a game they had for free in 2011. The game of football, the reason I wrote the book, it's about power. And I think that at the end of the day, I never wanted a football book
Starting point is 00:46:57 because I'm not a football guy. My high school coach will tell you, I was probably the worst high school football player he's ever seen. But I wanted to write turf wars because it's about power. I love the header. It says the fight for the soul of America's game because I thought to myself, does the NFL have a soul? The NFL does not have a soul.
Starting point is 00:47:17 The players have a soul. Okay. Right. And the NFL is the largest, most unregulated, socialistic business in America. Break that down. the NFL privatizes their wealth and socializes their cost
Starting point is 00:47:36 right so you think about stadiums for example every state and local government goes through a referendum to get taxpayers to pay for the owner's stadium we pay for it
Starting point is 00:47:48 he keeps the profit they are a completely unregulated business up to a few years ago the NFL league office was a five C6 nonprofit. They're going to do
Starting point is 00:48:03 $25 billion next year. How can a corporation like that be a nonprofit? Not a corporation. How? I'm saying how can they not be a corporation? Got time? Break down a little history? All right. So, first thing that happens in 1960s, they have the AFL,
Starting point is 00:48:19 American Football League, and the NFL. Those two entities merge, right? So think about it like Lowe's in Home Depot, right? If Lowe's And Lowe's and Home Depot merged, what would be the price of a hammer? $500. Right?
Starting point is 00:48:35 Because there's no competition. In the 1960s, that's exactly what the NFL did. They became the merger of Lowe's and Home Depot. So they merged, the only way they could merge, was they needed special legislation from Congress, which they got. So think about it. The taxpayers, who these dudes are supposed to work for, allowed the NFL and the AFL to merge, which basically meant they eliminated all of the competition from now until the end of time.
Starting point is 00:49:03 First thing that happened. Second, under the Sports Broadcasting Act, they also have the unique ability of negotiating singular television contracts. So instead of the Rams doing a TV contract or the Patriots or anybody else, the NFL does one big TV contract a year. Virtually nobody else can do that. so they've cornered the market on the merger cornered the market on media at the end of the day all of the teams are not corporations they are LLCs and LLPs limited liability partnerships so you know my job is to audit the teams which you know gave me an ulcer and you know got me addicted to Johnny Walker Blue but you think of those corporations you take something
Starting point is 00:49:50 like the Dallas Cowboys there is no one singular Dallas Cowboys there is no one singular Dallas Cowboy entity, they're made up of dozens of little LLPs and LLCs. They loan money to each other. They borrow from each other. They pay each other. So the way this thing works from a tax liability standpoint is if they do everything right, you know what they pay in taxes at the end of the year? Damn they're nothing. Yeah. So they're not a corporation. That's crazy. They don't file anything publicly. Make it even crazier. You cannot find
Starting point is 00:50:23 an audited financial statement for any NFL team or the NFL as it exists. They do not create audited financial statements because they don't want anyone to know. So when they put those numbers out and they say, hey, we made this amount
Starting point is 00:50:39 this year, that's just something they're throwing out there. There's just something they're throwing out there. We're still kicking with DeMora Smith. He's the former executive director of the NFL Players Association. Charlemagne? How did you look at Roger Goodell? Did you look at him as more of an ally or adversary? Pure-ass adversary.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Wow. I mean, look, Roger, I mean, he... He's there to protect the owners, basically. That's not even basically. I mean, the commissioner is a myth. So they created this title called commissioner way back in the day because it makes us think, oh, the dude's in the middle.
Starting point is 00:51:10 And he's just making sure that football is good for the players and football is good for the owners. No, Roger gets paid $63 million a year. I thought it was 64. I mean, he may have got the bonus. I don't know. I don't catch that. You know, I know when we do have lunch, he buys.
Starting point is 00:51:26 So, no, he gets paid $63, $64 million to represent the interest of the owners and a plane for life. I'm not even mad about the money. It's the plane. Damn. I mean, that's the kind of thing where you're like, Jesus. That man don't play no football. So it's impossible for him to be objective about the player. He's not paid to be a friend.
Starting point is 00:51:49 How, no? How hard was it for you navigating to Colin Kaepernick situation? because people felt like y'all were hands-off. You are very vocal. It seemed like you would be hands-off, but you would have been hands-off. Yeah, I wasn't hands-off on that one. Yeah. You know, the first person to do an interview after Colin Nelt was me,
Starting point is 00:52:05 because I knew exactly how the league was going to turn that story. And, you know, I didn't know that he was going to kneel. You know, it was a pre-season game, and I remember getting a call from one of my PR guys, that this is now going to be a thing. It's going to be a thing tomorrow. But I also knew in a heartbeat that, again, going back to this power, man, once the league realized that this is an individual player making a political statement that is rooted in history and rooted in fact, I knew in a nanosecond that they were going to come after him and come after anybody who supported him. That's just the way that they play the game, right?
Starting point is 00:52:46 And so for me, you know, I go in a game mode. You know, first, make sure that the message is out there, and two, if there ever comes a day when we believe that he is going to be blackballed for what he's doing, that's why we joined his lawyers and we sued the National Football League for blackballer. I know you talk about it in your book a bit, but do you feel like he was blackball? 100%. I don't want to say anything that gets a whole bunch of other quarterbacks mad at me. But in the year that Colin wasn't signed, other than the top. five quarterbacks in the league, you know, at that time. And I'm just talking about everybody from Brady to Aaron Rogers,
Starting point is 00:53:28 everybody in the middle, Breeze, Pat, Peyton, everybody. Colin was one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. I mean, everybody, there were a bunch of other guys who had jobs, quarterback jobs. I don't think it's close that he was better than 50% of the starting quarterback in the national football league at the time. So when he worked out with the Raiders are when, I know when Rock Nation had put together the workout that he was supposed to go to, but then he went somewhere else.
Starting point is 00:54:00 You're the one in it, yeah, the tryout in it in Atlanta. Yeah, what do you think of those two situations? Were they just for show or anything? Hey, look, I, I, nobody was more stunned than me that he didn't go through with that tryout in Atlanta. I know that there was a fight over some waiver or, or something like that. But, you know, there were a bunch of pro scouts there.
Starting point is 00:54:24 And he decided, you know, for his own reasons, that he wasn't going to throw that day. That surprised me. It disappointed me a little bit. Well, he did go throw. He just went up the road. He did. He went to a high school school where all the scouts weren't.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Yeah. But there were also dudes catching for him that day who were looking for jobs too. They didn't go to the high school team. Gotcha, got you, got you, got you. So, look, you lose. 100% of the fights you don't fight, right?
Starting point is 00:54:54 If I would have had to wave, wait of a magic one, would I have wanted him to go throw that day in front of a bunch of scouts and show off that freaking arm and show off, you know, his feet and his footwork? Yes.
Starting point is 00:55:09 You didn't have been hard to keep him out of the league after that if he had a good showing? Yes. Yeah. Because I think the pressure shifts, right? I mean, everybody was there in Atlanta. Press was there, scouts are there. Man, he is going to do well. And it is, at least from the way that I look at the game strategy,
Starting point is 00:55:29 it becomes incredibly hard from that moment for the league to continue to hold him out of the league when you've got 30-some-odd scouts there. The media is there and he does well. I mean, I just look at pressure points, right? That puts the maximum amount of pressure on the league at that moment. And what I have loved to see him go through that process, yeah. But you know what? I think it was a hope that if they show the rest of the players that they can control
Starting point is 00:56:01 what happens to somebody with a loud voice, if they can control someone who looks like they might be bigger than the league, what do they do? They send a message to that guy, you, and they say, oh, no, no, no, we can control and put a bullet in you. and that's a message to everybody else I don't think it worked though I don't think it did even
Starting point is 00:56:23 it didn't stop anybody from the earlier no it didn't and honestly I thought that was one of the that was one of the best times one of the few great times that I had in the job because guys responded to that in a way I'm always looking for guys to be to have a level of solidarity
Starting point is 00:56:38 between them and I'm like the owners like the owners I mean the owners are serial killers let's not again they are absolute killers and for the union to to survive. Forget us winning. For us to just survive, we need more solidarity on our side than you do with the owners. And that's what you saw with our guys. And then that, you know, that night after
Starting point is 00:57:00 the president gave that speech in Huntsville, you know, where he called and said, you know, wouldn't it be great if every owner, right? I mean, I am sure that he did not understand that he called every NFL player's mother. A son of a bitch. A bitch. A bitch. I mean, you know, from where we come from, you can say a lot of things. You get to that point, there is going to... My name is Ed.
Starting point is 00:57:25 Everyone say, hello, Ed. From a very rural background myself, my dad is a farmer, and my mom is a cousin. So, like, it's not like... What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. On 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family.
Starting point is 00:58:01 And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed.
Starting point is 00:58:44 There's been a bombing at the T-Dub. AWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and order, criminal justice system is back. In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight.
Starting point is 00:59:14 That's harder to predict and even hard. harder to stop. Listen to the new season of law and order criminal justice system on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam, maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think is a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's
Starting point is 00:59:48 insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe
Starting point is 01:00:04 him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast. on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

My contribution is shining a light
Starting point is 01:00:36 on our missing sisters and amplifying their disregarded stories. Stories like Tamika Anderson. As she drove toward Galvez, She was in contact with several people, talking on the phone as she made her way to what should have been a routine transaction. But Tamika never bought the car. And she never returned home that day. One podcast, one mission, save our girls.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Join the searches we explore the chilling cases of missing and murdered black women and girls. Listen to hunting for answers every weekday on the Black Effect Podcast Network, IHeartRadio, app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. To be a laying of hands on you when you say, and I think when the Republicans woke up that morning and realized that even Trump had gone over the line by calling players mothers a bitch, and that was the weekend you saw every player, Neil.
Starting point is 01:01:40 I mean, I talk about it in the book. I flew to watch the Cowboys play, not because I'm a Cowboys fan. I went. Thank God. Be respectful. We can go. Cowboys, baby.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Look, I mean, that Michael Parsons thing worked. I know. I mean, we don't have to talk about it. See, okay. See, I don't know. He's a little salty. He's a little salty. You know, okay.
Starting point is 01:02:03 Let's move all the sharp objects to this out of the table. You said that week that you went? Because I knew Jerry's team was going to kneel. And, you know, Jerry had come out and said, nobody's kneeling on my team because that's, the way that he believes in control. Yeah. I knew his team was going to kneel,
Starting point is 01:02:20 and I wanted to see what he was going to do. He went out there and nailed with him. He moved his self from the end of the line to the middle of the line and knelt, because for the only time that he has run that team, he understood the difference between being on the train or being in front of the train. And he chose to be on the train because his guys decided as a group of men this. And I was proud of him. But that's the job.
Starting point is 01:02:49 I'm still kicking it with DeMora Smith. He's the former executive director of the NFL Players Association. Charlemagne? You got with Collins lawyers and you sued the NFL. Yeah. There was a settlement. Yeah. Do you think that's when leverage was lost?
Starting point is 01:03:01 Was that the right thing you do except the settlement? Yeah. I mean, so we represented him with his lawyers. His lawyers did the settlement. We didn't. I didn't know about the settlement. I woke up and saw it in the news. Oh, so the NFLPA didn't even know about it?
Starting point is 01:03:14 No. That doesn't make any sense. Welcome to part of my job That's why people were confused about That's how I'm saying with the hands on hands off thing People were confused where y'all stood Because things were happening And it's hard because
Starting point is 01:03:25 You know again I'm a lawyer And lawyers have attorney client privilege I didn't know about the settlement The NFL paid did not know about the settlement We woke up and found out about it that morning And as a result It dismissed our part of the case
Starting point is 01:03:39 Against the league That's the way it happens He has the right to do that He has the right to be represented by his own lawyers fine the NFL PA's job is to protect our players and again I only know
Starting point is 01:03:53 one way of doing that and that is to start off at 100 miles an hour and go to 150 and if there's something in the way you run over it we were more interested in the facts of who made the decision
Starting point is 01:04:09 to blackball a quarterback a black quarterback in the national football I'm interested in what's in your phone. I'm interested in what emails you're sending. I'm interested because I get all of that in discovery.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Right? Just like the collusion lawsuit that I filed against the players after Deshawn Watson, I filed that lawsuit before I left. I wasn't there for the ruling. But the reason I filed that lawsuit is man, we're looking for the truth
Starting point is 01:04:39 because the truth gives us the ability to fight the control. right so my job in any collusion lawsuit man I'm going hard and there's nothing to settle for the for the union right so once you take all that money you you you wave all the rights to set the discovery and everything
Starting point is 01:04:58 it's like you don't care about you don't care about the actual issue anymore you never got it okay so I'm not second guessing anyone but we're all y'all on the same page about that obviously not anyway anybody read the book yeah I know there's stuff that I'm trying to avoid saying because I had conversations
Starting point is 01:05:16 with their side of the lawyer, so I can't divulge anything, but I can tell you that I woke up and found out about the settlement from, I think, ESPN. What were your thoughts on the way they handled the Sanders young man? Control. Same situation? Do you think that was true? Think about it.
Starting point is 01:05:33 Look, I don't know what happened. I borrow this line from James Baldwin all the time. I don't know if In your heart, you're a racist, but I see what you do, right? So I look at the way in which a young black man knelt during a preseason game, and the league turned, I believe, every gun that they had on Colin Kaepernick.
Starting point is 01:06:03 They went after Colin because he was iconic, and they were afraid that what he was doing would lead to other people doing things and they would lose control. Then you get to the Shadur... That would happen if you didn't take the favor. Right? I don't know. I'm just being nice.
Starting point is 01:06:26 But then you get to Shadour. And again, I wasn't... Nobody invites me into the draft rooms, but I asked myself a pretty simple, linear question. Is he better than Johnny Mansell? Shadoura Sanders Johnny Manzell? Yes.
Starting point is 01:06:45 In college? Come on. Johnny Manzell was a beast in college now. Come on, man. Like, he, I mean, I like Johnny Manzo. I mean, yeah, Johnny Manzo, he was a beast in college. The two people, if you put them side by side, as far as who is more likely to be a pro-caliber quarterback, Shadur beats him to death, right?
Starting point is 01:07:02 It's inexplicable for him to fall as far as he did in the draft. Right. You think about the number of quarter. that the NFL owners pull off of the draft line. He was predicted to go first round. So every other prognosticator is wrong and the NFL is right. No, that doesn't make any sense. I just go back to the number of quarterbacks that they pulled off that line.
Starting point is 01:07:33 After you get to the middle of the second round, every one of those quarterbacks that you pulled off the line, I would have taken Chador over any one of those dudes. So I find it inexplicable, except for one thing of why he would drop so far in the draft, on the draft side. Because remember, think about it, you draft this guy, you know, he still doesn't make the team.
Starting point is 01:07:59 Right? I find it inexplicable that a person of his caliber, the things that he was able to accomplish in college, for him to drop as far as he did in the draft. I agree, but I disagree with the Johnny Manzell comparison. Like Johnny Manzell was a beast, bro. He won the Heisman trophy. Like, Johnny was different. In college. He sucked in the pros.
Starting point is 01:08:19 Right. But there's a lot of dudes who do well in college. I guess we agree to disagree, but here I think we can agree on. There's a lot of guys who perform in a college system whose size and skill will not make them terribly successful in the pro system. Right? And I think that when you look at, the arm strength and the size of Chador and what he was able to demonstrate in college both with his feet and his ability to
Starting point is 01:08:50 throw it just crazy right what he was able to do in college mimicked what I thought he should be able to do in the National Football League but fine we can disagree about all that I keep coming back to this guy dropped so far in the draft despite everybody
Starting point is 01:09:09 rating him at a much higher level. And also the people, like the, I think people were awaiting. Like his debut, I think he was, it's 2.2 million views. It was the most rating, though. That's not a good place. But doesn't, so he plays well. We know that, right? And I love you, though.
Starting point is 01:09:23 But he is third string on the Browns right now. He is. But how much has a team want to take it? This is through training camp. You know what I'm saying? He's third string on the Browns right now. I guess what I would say is there are, I'm sorry. What was the question?
Starting point is 01:09:36 I was just asking how much does that matter? Like, because people wanted to see him. None. To an NFL scout, NFL coach, you know, quarterback, quarterback coach, man, they don't care about likes, man. They care about whether you can deliver the ball in a three-by-three box with you running right, throw in right, and whether or not you can throw that ball on a line for 30 yards. That's what they care about. That's all they care about.
Starting point is 01:10:03 My point is, coming out of college, when you take all of the predictors, about Chador did all of those predictive qualities point to him going higher than when he came out? Yes. And again, I don't know, but
Starting point is 01:10:22 I do know one thing. There is not an NFL owner that liked the way in which he carried himself in college. That is not their vibe. Because you're writing the book, owners aren't stupid. Morons on occasion, but not stupid.
Starting point is 01:10:38 They realized long ago that a single massive army is more powerful than 32 regional ones, especially while fending off an attack. And it made me think about it because you can have all the money in the world. But if they're unity and group operation, 100%. That keeps them in power. 100%. Man, do you want to be the next executive director of the NFLPA? No.
Starting point is 01:10:57 I guess I had to do a pitch. You can't give you too much. Pick up the book. Thank you guys. Appreciate it. You need to do Bill Simmons podcast, man. I would love to. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:05 I would love to. I would love to. I would love to. I think y'all have a great comment. We'd love to. Turf walls. DeMarcus Smith. Thank you for having, man.
Starting point is 01:11:10 Damaris. De. De Morris. D. D. D. How do you pronounce it just so? DeMars.
Starting point is 01:11:15 DeMaris. Okay. My mom, my mom wanted to call me La Cannard, or my dad did, but thank God, thank God my mother stepped in. My name's Lenard. That's close. Yeah, but Conard, La Cunard is the duck. La Cranard.
Starting point is 01:11:27 Yeah. That would have been a little bit rough. Yeah, Lenard means clown. Mm-hmm. So, yeah. Wow. Real crazy. Dee, we appreciate you.
Starting point is 01:11:36 Thank you guys. What? just means what lover I sure man this just thing went Dean we're out of here throwing off the rails
Starting point is 01:11:44 thank you brother it's the breakfast closed good morning let's get right to the latest with Lauren Lauren becoming a straight fat she gets him somebody that knows somebody
Starting point is 01:11:56 she gets to detail I'm the home girl that knows a little bit about everything she'd be having the latest on this The latest with Lauren La Rosa Sometimes you have facts
Starting point is 01:12:07 Sometimes you have details. Sometimes you have a little bit everything. Well, it's the latest. On the breakfast club. Talk to me. First of all, necklace, yes. Oh, thank you. I love the necklace club.
Starting point is 01:12:17 Yes, thank you, Jess. I appreciate it. This is from Sheen. I love that. Look like a futuristic slave. I know. He don't stop. Go, Lauren, go, man.
Starting point is 01:12:30 Well, so Sierra has added Wilson to a baby future's last name. so yes so Russell Wilson had posted a photo of Sierra and their kids at the U.S.
Starting point is 01:12:44 Open in the stands and when he posted the photo he listed Future's last name baby Futures last name as Future Wilson and so
Starting point is 01:12:50 that calls fans to try and figure out well wait is he adopted now because when did his last name become Wilson because Wilburn
Starting point is 01:12:57 is Future's last name so TMZ reached out to figure out this and sources confirmed to them that Sierra has custody of baby future and she did at Wilson to his last name illegally a few years ago
Starting point is 01:13:13 but he still does have futures last name so he is now baby future Wilson Wilburne. He has both names. Yes he has both names so people were trying to make this like a whole thing oh my god he was adopted by Russell Wilson and blah blah blah she kept both names it's her child removing her future's last name is Wilburne yeah what is it Lavernia's your first name yeah I'm not to say brought to see. It's like Optimus Prime. It's something wild. No, it's not Optimus Prime.
Starting point is 01:13:39 Future's full name. Oh, no. Why is it coming up as Cache? It's coming up as Nadevious. Yeah. It's something like Davis. This is we can say Optimus Prime. It's something like this.
Starting point is 01:13:50 Sounds like somebody in shorts. Yeah, but here they listed. They mentioned Wilburne. Was that his original? Okay. Okay, whatever. We're moving on. Yes.
Starting point is 01:14:00 We brought that up, though, because we've been having a lot of conversations about Russell Wilson this week. Another thing that stirred the pot here from the Breakfast Club, the Russell Wilson conversation. Now, moving on yesterday, Drake went on one of his, like, Iceman
Starting point is 01:14:12 streams. So this was episode three. He's been doing them as he rolls out the Iceman era, which is going to be his upcoming project. The reviews have not been the best from some people. So Kai Sinat, or Kaysanet, went on his stream and reviewed it, and he did not enjoy Drake's stream.
Starting point is 01:14:29 Let's take a listen to Kai. Biggest miss a my time, all time. The biggest his waist on my damn Armani Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yeah, yeah, yeah, I can't fake it.
Starting point is 01:14:44 I can't fake it. I can't fake it. I can't fake it. I actually can't fake it. I actually can't fake it. That was so ass. What did he do on the stream now? I made it so ass.
Starting point is 01:14:56 So Drake's streams are different. They're very like theatrical. So he takes you through like different scenes. It looks like he was in Milan because, you know, he's been on tour. He takes you. do like different scenes and then he shows you different things he doesn't really talk much and he uh previews and sometimes debuts full tracks so yesterday he had like one scene where there was
Starting point is 01:15:13 like pinocchio and he was sitting down at the table with the different pinocchio's and a lot of his fans are saying that that was like him reiterating at kendrick lamar because remember he was saying on the heart part six that kendrick marr was lying about some of the stuff people think it's that but it's very like imagery artsy artsy artsy very artsy farty um but he did debut some songs. Now he debuted Somebody Loves Me Remix, Yeat, or Dog House, and
Starting point is 01:15:38 I think the music was good. I have some of the previews of the music. Yeah, so let's take a listen to... I didn't hear none of it, but I'll say it's whack if y'all need me to. Shut up, man, he said y'all be on the private calls. Let's take a listen to, not Rick Ross yet. Let's take a listen to Somebody Loves Me Remix. Y'all just tired of Drake, because that's not like
Starting point is 01:15:55 every other Drake record I've heard. Like, what's so different? What's so different about it? It sounds like a vibe. It sounds like a vibe. Yeah, but Kai was reacting to the stream itself, I think, because on Kai's streams, you know, they have different things. It's almost like segments that they do. Drake's is very highly produced, but it's different. I thought that song was good as well, too, but Rick Ross had some comments for Drake. You all know Drake threw some shots to Rick Ross's way on that, sit down with Bobby.
Starting point is 01:16:17 So I think this was Rick Ross's way to kind of get back. Let's take a listen to Rick Ross on Drake's stream. There's the name of the Aubrey album, White Man, for real? Damn, Champagne Poppy, they say them songs that you just stream. with your new project, White Man. Say that shit ain't dope. The comments crazy. And then, Kassanak, shout out to Kassanak.
Starting point is 01:16:38 Kasset, that's a-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. This probably ain't mine, or not. Yeah. Why is his album called Iceman, though? Like, I'm a comic book guy, so Iceman is Bobby Drake, and Bobby Drake is gay in the comics. So I don't understand, like, what's going? Really? Yes, he's all openly. He's not there today?
Starting point is 01:16:59 No, he's not here today. You're so hurt. Listen, the fact, first of all, you know, he's Ovio, Eli, so he's a Drake stand, but he's a super screaming stand. So, Kai is his guy. He loves Kai. So the fact that Kai said Drake is ass, Ovio couldn't wake up this morning. I couldn't wait to send that to the group chat last night. I didn't even hear what happened.
Starting point is 01:17:17 I just said that early to immediately. Don't you cry, Eli. Eli hadn't even come to work. He came to work today. There's also one, leave Eli alone. There's also one line where people feel like he kind of was referencing what happened last summer with Kendrick Lamar. can we take a listen to that's just how I feel he said I really did F up this summer but not the
Starting point is 01:17:34 way I effed up last summer people think it's him admitting that he messed up last summer but I think he's saying he last summer was his I can smell the ass on that one no I think you say I can smell that I think he's saying he effed up last summer like he lost last summer and this is a new new summer I just can smell the ass on that
Starting point is 01:17:50 yo stop it because he's nicer than that like he just sound lazy rapping like like you'll Drake you nice than that but you know what he probably feel like you know how like some social media influences feel like yo I got to stay hot. I got to drop something. Even if it's not my best, I got to drop something, or I'll be
Starting point is 01:18:04 forgotten. You know, he probably is having that pressure, like, because ever since that bad, yo, it ain't been looking the same for yo. But that's why now is not the time to be lazy with nothing. Not at all. I get it. I get it. I'm with you. I think he needs to go back to the lab and start planning out his releases
Starting point is 01:18:20 and do it the right way, because it seems like this is that, that I did last a month. And then last summer, that wasn't it. Yeah. And I'm a Drake fan. Right. I'm a baby. And Bobby Drake is gay. What? Iceman is gay in the comics. I need y'all to know that.
Starting point is 01:18:35 I need to know what's coming out. I don't have the answer to that. I don't know. That's what I'm trying to say. I think about the interview he did the other day. Bobby Dress, it's like, what's going on? Iceman, he could be saying he has a cold heart. It's so many different things he could be saying.
Starting point is 01:18:48 He also could be a comic book. You know, he's been seen wearing some, like, the ice apparel. You never know what Drake, and I don't know the answer to that. And you just want to call him gay. That's what you just trying to say. That is not what I want to call. I'm just telling you. The facts, I'm reporting.
Starting point is 01:19:02 Drake gets busy. I want him to get back to rapping. I just need him to get back to rapping. What'd you say, Jess? He probably looks at himself as Sub-Z in the Mortal Kombat game. That's different. You know?
Starting point is 01:19:10 Maybe I'm Sub-Zerow. I get it. Yeah, but Iceman is different. Well, quick mention, speaking of rappers, yesterday I went to a press conference that Jay-Z and Rock Nation held. You guys know they're trying to bring the Caesar's casino to Times Square, to Caesar's Palace.
Starting point is 01:19:27 And they had reps from SL Green there. they had community members there they had a bunch of different people that their partner with and they explained kind of how this whole thing will go down and I know that there's been a lot of conversation about how this can hurt the community and take away from Broadway or whatever after sitting at that press
Starting point is 01:19:44 conference there is literally in my opinion no reason why anyone should be objecting to this happening like this is going to do so well for not just people's like their pockets but the community itself like to start and this is only one of the investments they're investing $250 million
Starting point is 01:20:00 directly into the community over the next 10 years and that starts even before the casino opens. They have a organization that they're partnering with and this organization will make it where the community themselves can become investors in this for as little as
Starting point is 01:20:15 $500. That's what I think a lot of people would love to hear. The fact that they can invest into their own community. Do you have the information for that? Yeah, I'm pulling up the name of it right now and also too it's a black man that created this organization. Yeah, the fund where you'll be able to invest.
Starting point is 01:20:34 But also, too, I want to say that if people do want to get involved and they want to vote for the casino to come, there is an email that you can reach out to. So the email is Caesar's Times Square Public Comment at NYS-TEC.com. It's for anyone that wants to voice support for Rock Nation's casino bid. You can email that casino bid. There's going to be, it's just, it's going to be amazing.
Starting point is 01:20:57 New York City needs to upgrade. I said it once, I'll say it a million times. For all the money, we're paying taxes, tolls, congestion pricing. New York City should be the most futuristic-looking city on the planet. Okay, we should look like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, but we don't. Okay, that casino will give this city a much-needed upgrade. I agree, I agree. Also, uh...
Starting point is 01:21:14 You don't look like Charlotte. Do you look as good as Dallas? What? Just in Times Square, you're saying? Yes. We got to go. Time Square, the whole New York City, Manhattan looks disgusting at times. And I love it.
Starting point is 01:21:26 I'm born and raised there. I go to some of these other cities. These other cities look beautiful. See, this palace will give it an upgrade. That's all I would hope so. I can't find an organization. That is the latest with Lauren.
Starting point is 01:21:34 When we come back, Charlemagne, Donkey today, what we're doing on the Friday? It's the people's donkey, man. So call us right now. You can give somebody the credit they deserve for being stupid. All right. We'll get to it next. It's the Breakfast Club.

Starting point is 01:22:18 You said his whole name. How much? Is he behind on child support? No, he's taking me to court for full custody. He has to see his son in nine months. Why he's taking you to full custody? You club too much? No, not at all. I'm a great parent.
Starting point is 01:22:31 To my kid, he's autistic. He doesn't even know that he's autistic. And he wanted to take me to court, and he hasn't seen his son in nine months. So he gets that keyhawp, real bad. Absolutely. Can I just want to ask a question? Forgive me if I sound stupid.
Starting point is 01:22:44 How autistic do you have to be to know you're not autistic? No, his father don't know he's autistic, dummy? His father doesn't know that he's autistic. I'm not going to lie. I thought you when he said that, I told you to the child. didn't know. That's what I said. That's why I took it too. I'm sorry. No, no, no. I'm sorry. My son is two years old. He'll be three of this mom's happy birthday to my son Zion. Why did that? Why David Allen don't know that his son's autistic? He's not around.
Starting point is 01:23:10 She ain't tell him no. She's not around. He's not communicating. He doesn't care to be in his life, but he wants to take me to court because he doesn't want to pay child support. Well, you know what? Maybe you should let him have custody for a little while. Surprise, surprise. Jesus Christ Because he won't even know Because he wouldn't know what to do with him That is true Right, that's why she don't want to do that But she ain't tell him even
Starting point is 01:23:33 All right, thank you about me Thank you for calling No Thank you for calling Good morning, who's this No one to answer the phone of ours Yeah, we just did Now what's up

Starting point is 01:24:03 I love Alabama. What Joe T. Baker from? Joe T. Baker from Mississippi, but he got out of prison. He'd be coming out of prison stores and he said to be giving people to go out word. He said a prison store. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:15 I'm looking at him now. He got a podcast called Locked Up with my daddy. Yeah. He got a whole story now. He had a murder card. He got locked up. He made his dad for the first time. when he was in prison.
Starting point is 01:24:25 Like, he's got the whole storyline. But that's the next time he'll lead people to the word of God. So I'm going to give you a doctor today. He's not knowing about Joe Pee. But how we get stuck here today? We don't even know this. Like, you just told us all.
Starting point is 01:24:37 I love y'all. But I just want to get Joe Pils up. Absolutely. You put me on. I'm looking at, I see he did an interview at 85 South show with Carlos and Clayton English. Dope, dope. Now we know about him.
Starting point is 01:24:49 Yes. Now we get him out. Good morning. Who's this? This is Steve. Stephen? Yes. Sir, how you doing?
Starting point is 01:24:54 I'm blessed black and highly faber, sir. How are you? I'm good, I'm good. Who you want to get the biggest he-haw to? I want to give it to the entire breakfast club. Oh, Lord, what we do again? We just got it. All right, what I did with, y'all did the exact same thing.
Starting point is 01:25:07 The Democrats did with Joe Biden with Wendy Williams. What? What did that mean? Yeah, I'm confused. Oh, my God. You got for hanging? Expound, expound. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:25:18 Y'all, okay, all right, check it out. Y'all was tapping so hard that she didn't need to be in that conservorship, when she's an alcoholic but the brain degenerative disease. Now see, I ain't heard that. You're telling me something new, though. Yeah, I ain't know that one. Where are you getting your information from, sir?
Starting point is 01:25:32 You know what? From the breakfast club. She was an alcoholic. Oh, you said it was. You said was an alcohol. Okay, okay, was. Yeah, she was an alcoholic, so she needs to be what?
Starting point is 01:25:41 You can't let her roam around when she was living at to go to the bar. I agree, but not stuck in a place where she got to ask permission to go see her father and stuff like that. That don't mean she need to be a natscript of a conservatorship. But there are.
Starting point is 01:25:53 consequences for what she did and she just had to live with him what did she do was she yeah was she committed a crime what she did no she was getting drunk so do you i was going to say i get drunk every weekend what's supposed to happen to me i don't have a brain in dinner neither does she as far as i know what what come on man yeah she's where you get your information from i get i get what he's saying thank you sir i get what he's saying it's just yeah have a great day good morning who's this it's ghost ghost what's happening who you want to get the biggest he heart too You already know you're on the thud, bro. Okay, talk to me.
Starting point is 01:26:26 If you go to the police to tell them, call me if you want any information. You did. Call me if you want information. You what? If you go to the police posting or if you're in the police precinct, you have a two-hour event of interrogation in the nation. You tell them, I'll tell you anything.
Starting point is 01:26:42 Don't tell the world what that makes you. Oh, got you, got you got. How old are you? I'm a grown man. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to be honest with you, man. You're right. But I don't have nothing to do with that.
Starting point is 01:26:52 You know what I'm saying? I just, that's real. I don't care enough about that situation. I really don't. No, I feel you. It's in the media right now. That's what y'all do. I understand.
Starting point is 01:27:05 But this is your people's dokey, so I get it. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Good morning. Who's, oh, we take one more. Good morning. Who's Candace from Virginia Bee? Hey, Candice, 757.
Starting point is 01:27:16 Who you want to get the biggest he-haught to, Candice? I want to give the biggest he-hawad to a local starting-out dress artist to need to need. A local what artist? You said what kind of artist? She's a makeup artist. Gotcha. She schemes you and tells you she can make a dress for you.
Starting point is 01:27:33 And she skated out on me on my wedding day the day before because she didn't know how to finish the dress. Oh, my God. Took me to court to try to sue me. Wow. And a year later, still trying to get this money telling lies to everybody who will listen. What she said? What's the lie she said? She said that I didn't like the dress, but she never gave me the dress
Starting point is 01:27:57 presenting me a finished dress to either see to decide if I liked. Oh, wow. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah. And what's her name? Her name is Toneil. She also goes by Tatei on social media, and she does makeup, and she tries to do prom dresses. And what's your name?
Starting point is 01:28:17 She tried. My name is Candace. Yeah, she's about to add this to the lawsuit, Candice. You call it up here and slandered her. It's already dismissed and thrown out. Oh, okay, okay, okay. All right. All right.
Starting point is 01:28:32 Well, have a great day, man. Listen, we do that every Friday. It's the people's donkey. You can call up and give somebody the credit they deserve for being stupid. All you can go on the Iheart radio app, go to the Breakfast Club page, and click the talkback feature and leave a message. So thank you for participating. My name is Ed.
Starting point is 01:28:48 Everyone say hello, Ed. Hello, Ed. I'm from a very rural background myself. My dad is a farmer. And my mom is a cousin, so like, it's not, like... What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago.
Starting point is 01:29:05 I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. Well, 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage.
Starting point is 01:29:38 Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975. LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal.
Starting point is 01:30:10 Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances. Just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerge. and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and order criminal justice system is back. In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight. That's harder to predict and even harder to stop.
Starting point is 01:30:40 Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Starting point is 01:31:10 Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him?
Starting point is 01:31:27 Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 01:32:06 As she drove toward Galvez, she was in contact with several people, talking on the phone as she made her way to what should have been a routine. transaction. But Tamika never bought the car and she never returned home that day. One podcast, one mission, save our girls.
Starting point is 01:32:28 Join the searches we explore the chilling cases of missing and murdered black women and girls. Listen to hunting for answers every weekday on the Black Effect Podcast Network, Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:32:46 Right. Now, when we come back, first, let me say Harry O. Happy birthday, Harry O. Today is Harry O. Happy Boy, Harry O. Happy birthday. Now, when we come back, Tay Diggs, Troy Brookings, and Jay Carter will be joining us. They got a new movie, another man's wife that's coming out later this year. We'll talk to him. And also, they did a movie with Jess Alarious, where you executive produced, right? It's called I Hate I Love You. I executive produced it, and it's on Peacock. That's right. And we'll talk to them next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's D.J. N.V. Jess Salarious. Charlemagne the guy. We are the breakfast club.
Starting point is 01:33:21 Longa Rosa is here as well. And we got some special guests in the building. Yes, indeed. You got the brother Tay Diggs, Jay Carter, and Troy Brookings. Welcome, fellas. How are you doing this morning? How are you feeling?
Starting point is 01:33:32 I'm happy to be here. What, too, what do we owe this threesome? Whoa. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. You know what I'm doing. He's killing him. Yeah, we said, say, Paul.
Starting point is 01:33:43 Yeah. He were born that way. That's what you're We're talking They're both a part of it. That's why I think I'm in hell hilarious
Starting point is 01:33:56 We're promoting this new loo Chocolate glide He's in some new loob That's right It goes in easy It comes out smooth That actually might work, Tate Chocolate
Starting point is 01:34:08 So is a production team We're a producer team newly formed and you know kind of happened organically where we started to produce content as we cast Tay Troy and I and then you know the natural kind of progression three black men
Starting point is 01:34:24 let's let's go and own this ourselves let's build a table let's build a couple seats so yeah that's what we also to promote a new movie nice that we just wrap I feel like that's the that's not that's the only way in Hollywood now like to form your own production company
Starting point is 01:34:39 and shoot your own stuff I mean you probably know better than most I mean it's like I mean Obviously, there's the way things have been done, but if you want to guarantee anything at this point, you've got to do it yourself because there's no shame these days. People will lie right to your face, and there's no code. And for someone like me, I just got frustrated because I like to play by the rules.
Starting point is 01:35:03 But when the people on my own team are not playing by the rules, and I'm watching them break them, but let's do this ourselves. and right now with social media and everything it's proof that like people are taking control and I love that how did you three come together how did this happen so I'm a part of Freely Films
Starting point is 01:35:23 so it's me Tenia Wright my wife LaShaan she's a partner in business and in life we have a production company and so we were producing this movie called The Comeback a couple years ago and actually we cast
Starting point is 01:35:35 the lead female in the role and this is how you know things just happen and you got to embrace that opportunity, right? The universe, right? Yeah, the universe just happened. So the agent for the female called me, the female lead called me and said, hey, have you cast the male lead yet?
Starting point is 01:35:50 And I'm just bopping around. I'm like, nah, we haven't cast it. We've got a few people we're talking to, right? And she was like, well, Taye Diggs has seen the script. Would you be interested in Tay Diggs? Now, that was the most obvious. But here's the thing about it. Like, and this is how you can block your blessings.
Starting point is 01:36:06 I tried to talk her out of it because I wasn't ready. I didn't think I was ready. That's the same thing. And we think we're doing the right thing because we think it's humility but we're getting in our own way. Getting in our own way. And so she talked me into it.
Starting point is 01:36:21 She was like, Jay, no, this is happening. Embrace it, run with it. And so that was a couple years ago he came into Atlanta where I'm based, shot it. I'm hugely successful on Peacock as well and the rest is history. So we've been collaborating ever since.
Starting point is 01:36:35 I'm interested in that because if you write a script, you know it's great. At least I would think you would know it's great. why wouldn't you expect anybody to read it and want to be a part of it? That's the crazy thing about the business
Starting point is 01:36:46 like what you said makes sense yeah business as it is now makes no sense it makes no sense like if you knew the movies that got turned down and if you saw the stars
Starting point is 01:36:57 that were in those movies and what you'd be like what there's no rhyme or read like egos I mean it's it's really frustrating because you're raised
Starting point is 01:37:08 to think that everything happens for a reason. Like I knew I was talented. I knew I would, I got got into school. When I got in the school, I was like, okay, black people, the business is going to need black people. I'm going to move to New York.
Starting point is 01:37:21 I can do stage or screen. That happened. And then I got movie after movie. Then all of a sudden, the rules changed. Wait, who are the influencers? Who is it? I don't know who that is. Wait, he got the part over, but he doesn't have any experience. Doesn't matter. He's got followers. What are followers?
Starting point is 01:37:40 It's his videos, videos, is anybody paying? No, he just put on videos. And because he got all, so it's like, you got to adjust. Yeah. So now it's like, let me do, I can't swear, let's do this ourselves. Yeah. And we'll play by their rules, but at least we'll, I won't have the excuse. I can't complain.
Starting point is 01:38:00 Now I'm going to play by your rules, but we're going to do it our way. Does it bother you when somebody doesn't put in the amount of time that you did, doesn't go to the school, doesn't do the things that you did, And then because of followers or because of social media or because of a funny skit might get the part over you. Does that bother you at all? I mean, if there's talent there, then it's cool. You know what I mean? For me, I just didn't, it didn't make sense.
Starting point is 01:38:26 I didn't care who was doing what, but good for you. Whatever they were doing was working and I was like, good for you. But I don't know what to do right now. Yeah. You know what I mean? Is that why you started showing your ass? Literally on the TV? Yes.
Starting point is 01:38:38 He said yes. Like, Envy would come in here and show me that video, and I'd be like, oh, that's why I'm not. That's why I smell like that. And I was like, how can I make this work for me? All right, well, I'll just be funny and not even, I don't even realize that people are watching.
Starting point is 01:38:52 I would just, like, express myself. And if it worked, okay, I don't know what's happening, but they say post. I still have to ask him, how do I like, how do I double the, well, how do I take this and copy, you know. Well, we love Tay Diggs on Instagram. I appreciate it. I apologize.
Starting point is 01:39:10 You never saw him if you liked the post? What are you talking about? You never saw when he liked the post? He loves your post. I don't know. I don't even read. No. Yeah, yeah, he put the beach emotion.
Starting point is 01:39:22 I don't even know how to read the responses. You just post and just going much a day. It's like therapy. Yeah. But you do realize, I mean, that's interesting, to see, to hear somebody like Tade Diggs feel like they had to do that. Mm-hmm. How do you think I feel?
Starting point is 01:39:36 Right. How do you think I feel? Right. I totally get it. You don't want me in this movie. You want Josh La Flanavani? Who's never acted in his life? And I can't...
Starting point is 01:39:54 It's not even I can't get an audition. I'm not even a part of the conversation. That's crazy. So I was like, I don't hate that dude, but somebody tell me what's going on with these rules because I've worked really hard. Yeah. And I like to buy a lot of nice reliefs, you know what, how are we going to do this?
Starting point is 01:40:13 Somebody just explained it to me. Yeah. But for a minute, I was like, I was, I was, I was, it was pushback. Mm-hmm. People like to argue. Mm-hmm. Well, I did this. Well, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:40:23 Nobody cares. It seems like the formula is now that a lot of influencers are being casted because they can push the movie easier, right? But what, but what happened? Because at first, we didn't need. that nobody needed that so budgets are smaller right budgets are smaller and so when you have an influence who has 5 million followers that is free marketing yeah and so the studio doesn't have to come up with a you know one million dollar marketing budget
Starting point is 01:40:52 because they have Jess you can post it right now we'll use Jess as a case study right because I cast Jess in the movie I hate I love you I hate I love you super super successful now it's on 2B the number one drama on 2B I love that yes yes excellent But, you know, we, we saw, obviously, Jess' followers, and we said, you know, built-in marketing, right? She could post, it's going to be great. But then I watched her actual acting work. She's great.
Starting point is 01:41:15 She can really act. Oh, that was the clincher. You know, seeing her and I got a story to tell. Oh, that's my shit. When she cut the woman head off. It was a psychological thrill. She was like, I'm not like, I'm going to be up here every morning. I am.
Starting point is 01:41:32 Every morning. Every morning. True to life, right? It was literally our to learn It worked for us It worked It worked And I'm like
Starting point is 01:41:42 Okay cool Well let me get on this boat So in Tay's example If you can marry The social media prowess And the following With the talent Like Jess is married
Starting point is 01:41:52 To those two things You got the winner We're still kicking it With Tay Diggs Troy Brookins and Jay Carter They got a new movie Another Man's Wife Coming out by the end of the year
Starting point is 01:42:01 Jess Another man's wife That is the name of the film okay who had what to do because that I already want to know another man's wife who wrote that
Starting point is 01:42:13 whose idea was it what's happening yeah so it was a like the story it just put you in a chokehold you know and it's about a young couple who are struggling backs up against the wall
Starting point is 01:42:27 losing their house losing their car husband lost his job and then to make matters words truly and love each other like they're yeah truly yeah yeah the world is just banging on right then the husband finds out his mom has a serious illness and she could die the the the medical treatment that she needs isn't covered by insurance so they're drowning in debt and just financial issues right so tay's character comes along and he throws them a life raft and he said for two million dollars i can change your life but he looks at the wife and he says
Starting point is 01:43:02 The only thing I want to return is one weekend with you. Now, this one weekend that this husband is going to give up his wife for could save his mother, could save his job, could save his car, could save his house, could save his marriage, but at what cost? So the question that we always ask people, you know, and I'll ask, you know, you just envy Charlotte, May Lorne, what would you do? Two million dollars to save your mom, to save your house, to save your car.
Starting point is 01:43:29 Jesus All you got to give up It's one weekend Your wife Yeah I didn't give it on my wife though But that's what you're going to There's a chance that nothing happens There's a chance that nothing happens as well
Starting point is 01:43:43 Yeah they can play Monopoly They can watch your wife So she All she has to do is go I know looking at my wife I know nothing will happen But it's just the fact of pain Some's a guy though
Starting point is 01:43:54 I don't say nothing not happening What if it's Maxwell? Don't your wife love Maxwell? Pretty much. Definitely not Definitely not You wouldn't leave with back well But it's the premise of pain
Starting point is 01:44:09 Yeah For yeah It just it seems like belittally And the therapy that you'll need after it That's right You know what I mean Because you're mad That's a mental thing after that
Starting point is 01:44:19 Because she may You know Even though you feel like nothing happened You'll never know You'll never know But if you're significant Other doesn't go though And all this stuff does happen
Starting point is 01:44:27 You lose a lot of stuff on the back in then you still need the mental team. So, Lord, you're going. I mean, I got to think, you're talking about my mom here. Like, you're saying that, like, I would lose my mom.
Starting point is 01:44:37 So you don't have a house. So what did you do? So what did you do, Jess? Oh, yeah, $2 million. There you go. You're going? What are you talking about? What's the problem about?
Starting point is 01:45:02 You know, you hurt. You're gonna let your wife go. I'm going. No. We're going. What do we lose now? We lose our mom. It's your mom, your house.
Starting point is 01:45:09 What else? Your marriage. Your marriage. Everything crumbles. Not necessarily, it depends on you if you lose the marriage. I need to see the nuance. Like, do I know who the guy is? Do we have a background on him?
Starting point is 01:45:20 Do we know he's mentally well? You know what I mean? He's all above level. He's like, this is me, this is what's going on. I want you to meet me. meet me and there's no manipulation. Everything's right. There's a contract.
Starting point is 01:45:32 It's more as chestnut. Why can't I say what the guy? What? Whoa, whoa, that's a new movie. That's a new movie. That's a sequel. That's a sequel. That's a sequel.
Starting point is 01:45:43 That's a sequel. I'm just saying. I'm going. What you're going to do? I'm just kidding. Wow. I can't do nothing. I'm just saying, why can't I go?
Starting point is 01:45:53 Like, why did they have to be on white? Because the guy not gay. That's the only point. That's the only point. I didn't say it's like, why I'm not a... What part two is this? It's not that type of situation. I didn't say it was gay.
Starting point is 01:46:05 I just said, why can't I go? That's what a man does, right? When you, when it's a job that you don't want your woman to do, when you're going to do it, right? But the guy's like, I don't like dudes. I don't want your wife, bro. I'm asking for your wife. It's not that type of arrangement.
Starting point is 01:46:18 He said, why can I go? Let me do what you're going to do, right? The guy's not ditty. I don't even like I got J looked at me and said that just now. I want your wife One weekend But you see the conversation That it sparks, right?
Starting point is 01:46:36 And so that's what we're banking on Is, you know, people sitting on their couch You know, the wife cutting her eyes at her husband The husband cutting his eyes at his wife Like, you know, well, damn, what would you do? Would you do it with a million? What's your number? Two million, three million, four million?
Starting point is 01:46:50 You know, what will it cost you in the short term And what's going to cost you in the long term Once there's a ripple effect on the fallout? So it just sparks up this really cool dialogue. And then all of the relatable issues that they're going through even before they get to the point of, you know, Tate's character, right? Like a lot of people are going through it. The economy that, you know, people's moms are, you know, people's parents, period, are getting sick. Insurance is not covering things that they need.
Starting point is 01:47:18 Some people don't even have insurance because of, you know, government issues and all that type of thing. So it's like, it's very relatable until you get to the saving grace here. Because literally insurance and insurance company, they are here to make money. They're not non-profit. They are a for-profit company. So they will say this procedure, this treatment, cost too much. When are we released in, I'm sorry, wait, like I'm a part of y'all team. When are you released in another man's wife?
Starting point is 01:47:44 Yeah, so we're at it. That's all right. We're not going to start with me, believe her. We're dropping Who will be another man's wife? So, it'll either be late Q4 or December or early Q1, 26.
Starting point is 01:48:07 So all the next four months, look out for it. Absolutely. Well, thank you, brothers, for joining us. We appreciate it. What's the name with a production team so we don't forget? Yes.
Starting point is 01:48:15 Freedly. That's a good question. So it's freely films. That's what I bring to the table. And it's down deep right now, down deep productions. Yeah. So we're part of it.
Starting point is 01:48:24 together and we'll figure it out. We haven't necessarily cat-bubed. Let's figure it out. We got you. You're Tay's ass productions. Chalking me. Chalking-and-ass productions. We got to support y'all, man.
Starting point is 01:48:40 None of this matters if, you know, people don't go out there and support. Say it for the people in the back part. But also, you've got to make it way back up here when the movie comes out, come back up, talk about things so people understand and see it. Thank you. Thank you. Absolutely. Appreciate you.
Starting point is 01:48:54 Jay Carter Tate Diggs. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ NV. J. Salaray and the Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Law and the Roses here as well.
Starting point is 01:49:08 And it's time for Pass the Oaks. Go. Go. Go. Hey, DJ, because that's my DJ. Say, go, DJ. Because they're my DJ. Yep. Nyla.
Starting point is 01:49:20 Layla. Yeah, DJ, come spin. What's up Nila? Nile Samone, Big Nila, what's happening? Man, what's up, guys? How are you? Hey, sis. I feel a little, I don't want to say a hangover, but last night, St.
Starting point is 01:49:35 was super, super jumping because Billboard had that award for, like, Rookies of the Year. People went to a director. Yes, and everybody came after. So, like. Oh, the power players there? Power players, yeah. We made that. Oh, did you guys?
Starting point is 01:49:47 Congratulations. I'm not surprised. You're a part of it. So if they make it, we make it. There we go. But, yeah, it was, it was jumping. Jumping and thumping, but I will say shout out to all the execs that were in there. And shout out to O'Dill.
Starting point is 01:49:58 He came by too. But B. Cox was in there. And then he ended up DJ in and just shout out to B. Cox, man. It's always good to see it. Lute to B. Cox. Brian Michael Cox. And if you don't know what she's talking about, Nile does a residency in New York every Thursday. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:50:12 At St. Lounge, 10th F pull up on me. It's really a vibe. But speaking of vibe, let's get into it. I want to start with this El Meney record called Damage Control. It's R&B. It's super sexy. And he's one of my favorites right now. Fire!
Starting point is 01:50:24 He's so good. I love when a man loves on a woman with a bounce. Yes. You know what I'm saying? Love on a woman with a bounce. You remind me like, that's Usher. You remind me, you remind me. Love on me.
Starting point is 01:50:34 Love on a woman with a bounce, man. I agree. That's dope. Yeah. And he's one of those singers who can sing with the mic off. I mean, with the mic on. Like, no background, vocals. With the mic on.
Starting point is 01:50:46 With the music off. But you know how people would be like the mic on. Yeah, yeah. But, yes. Shout out to Elmine. Next, I'm going to get into. another singer-slash rapper her name's Tiana Major 9. She's out of
Starting point is 01:50:58 the UK. He's actually from the UK too but she's in Brooklyn now and this song is called Shukwin. That's all. That reminds me of good little Rijis. And that's one of my favorite beats ever. That's one of my favorite produced reggae ever. I mean, Shik Ones, Jesus.
Starting point is 01:51:14 Top 10 best hip-hop beats of all the time. I just like when R&B artists do that because that's that's that old school Mary J. Blige. That's them old school lazy K. Ron G. Mashers. I like seeing people sing over the hardcore hip-hop record. That's why I love that Eric about doing Alchemist record. What's the new one called?
Starting point is 01:51:30 Next to you that samples the realist by Mobb Deep. That's hard. That was hard. Tiana Major. That was hard Tiana Major Night. That was hard Tiana Major Major Night. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:51:39 You're two for two now. Let's see you effing up. I'm about to take it to America. Okay. I'm about taking to America. She's like, if that makes up, it's not my fault. It's this new Lotto and Ice Spice record. It's been, you know, a really big deal online because, you know, a lot on ice spice
Starting point is 01:51:52 we're beefing. What? Why are you? making that face. I'm not making any faces. I'm just listening to hear what this is about to be. Okay, well, Lotto and Ice Spice were beefing earlier this year. The beef is over.
Starting point is 01:52:04 The girls did the record together. And I'm actually like... I know they was on Kyle's cream last night. I didn't see it. Yeah, yeah. They were. And I'm happy to see the U.N. amongst women because, you know, I feel like the beef.
Starting point is 01:52:13 The women always end up beefing and it'd be a point of no return this record. So it's cool to see it. What the record sound like, though? All right. Let's get into it. It's called Gap. Yeah, but what Ice Spice sound like? I wasn't worried about Lotto.
Starting point is 01:52:27 Lotto was not my concern. Big Lotto was not my thing. Big Lotto was not my concern. All right. No shit the Ice Spice, but I did want to hear the Ice Spice version. I'm going to be honest. Ice spice sounds all right on it. I'm not going to lie.
Starting point is 01:52:39 That's what I'm saying. White Sack, I'd be honest. Like, you didn't expect it. I didn't expect it. Be for real. So when you asked me what face I was making, that was that. It wasn't had nothing to do with Lotto.
Starting point is 01:52:49 But no, I think, I think Ice Spice actually did good. Okay. A cute little video, so I've seen the video. that they're in the wrestling ring wrestling. Yeah, I'm happy about it. And it, my thing, you just never know with Ice Spice. That's all I'm saying. You're right.
Starting point is 01:53:01 You just never know. But if she, sometimes, yeah, it veers. You just never know. When you step into the ring with certain artists, you got to come. You can't come with just ad lib. You got to actually rap. So I'm glad she did that. And also, I think, um, it's just good to see them both being active.
Starting point is 01:53:15 Like, I've been waiting on Lotto to drop all summer. Something. Lotto tough. Yes. And Atlanta's been going up. So it's like Lotto into the chat. And she did with this. We got a lot going on right now.
Starting point is 01:53:24 This was a great song. L-O-L. Yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah. So yesterday, the parts of the stream that I did see, I didn't watch a full thing. Because I was trying to see how they interacted. It seems like...
Starting point is 01:53:33 They seem cool. Yeah, like they seem genuinely cool. Like, it's not forced. Like, they just... Good. Man, I feel like you guys are in the same field. Y'all need allies. Why not?
Starting point is 01:53:42 You got the same type of vibes. But I just want to give some honorable mention shout-outs that dropped today. Ruben Vincent, a 9th Wonder dropped. Got to get it. Party next door, Drake, and Cash Cobain. Drop Somebody Loves Me Part 2, which is one of the biggest.
Starting point is 01:53:54 records off that collab tape they did 7th Streeter dropped assumptions Chase Chacore would tell me why Don Talaver with Tierra Masu Oh and this Isaiah Falls and Sir record Called Brown Sugar is So So Fire So yeah oh and Justin Bieber dropped a deluxe to swag Okay if people waiting for that they said it's supposed to come out at midnight
Starting point is 01:54:12 It didn't come out to like 4 a.m. Oh The Beavers what are the Beaver's called? Believers? The believers are a little upset I'm a believer for sure I love him okay but yeah So if you guys like what y'all here Make sure you go to certify vibe.com. The playlist are there.
Starting point is 01:54:27 There's multiple playlist, so definitely check in. And don't forget this Tuesday, me, Ninth Wonder, Static Selector, Rob Markman. We having a rap night party. It's sold out, but pull up. We have a few slots left if you want to, like, cop a ticket in person, you know. But, yeah, see you there. Question before we go. We had this conversation yesterday about Glorilla, Nikki Minaj.
Starting point is 01:54:47 What? So we were talking to the female rap top three. And the Billboard interview day, he said, said it was Nikki Minaj, Cardi B, and Magda Stalyan. So then we got into the conversation of it should Glorilla be there and not Nick, and Glorilla over Nicky Manage. No, what I didn't say now?
Starting point is 01:55:03 I said the big three should be Nicky, Cardi, and Glorilla. But then we started having a conversation about who was. And I said that I feel like over the last four years, Glorilla has made better music than all of them. Correct. And then we started talking about catalogs and I said, I could put, I could put a glowrilla with wash. He said, I didn't say wash.
Starting point is 01:55:22 No, I did not. I said, I said, I said, Glorilla could compete against Nicky Minaj in the verses, and a lot of people would be surprised at the fact that, damn, Glorilla got some joints. Yeah, L'Rillera definitely has joints. I think there is no big three for women. And if there is, Nicky Minaj isn't in the conversation with them
Starting point is 01:55:37 because Nick Minage came out during the blog air. I said that. I said, Nick Minnage has a 15-year head start, and I said also, Nikki Minaj, Monage. Yes, it does, because Nick and Mina's got way more records. I said, let me tell why NB is fake. When the mics was off, NB said, yeah, man,
Starting point is 01:55:49 Marilla got better. No, I did not say that. This is exactly what I said. I said when it comes to our culture, Glorilla would definitely take her out because she has records that stand in the time. And I said with Nicky Minaj, if I play a crossover record or pop club,
Starting point is 01:56:03 I said I won't play any Glorilla, but I'll play Starship and they'll go crazy. I'll play all of them records that I never play in our clubs. But nobody over here is partying to Starships. Let's be for us. Not here. Like, let's be for it. But if you go to that other side.
Starting point is 01:56:16 We're not okay to you. This Power 105.1. That's all I'm saying. We're not talking where we're at. We're talking artists. in their catalog I guess if we're talking from a global perspective
Starting point is 01:56:25 then yes it's still Nicky but that's what I say if you're talking culturally it's definitely not I was surprised to be convinced about just the making a good song well my last comment my last comment
Starting point is 01:56:36 because they tell me we got a rap meet me in Detroit and Indianapolis this weekend I'm on tour 85 South I'll be opening so get your tickets and get in your seats early so you guys can catch a vibe all right thank you miss Nila Simone
Starting point is 01:56:48 thank you guys for having me certified five but yeah that was past the auks all right Thank you so much. Now, when we come back, we've got the people's choice mix. It's the breakfast club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:56:56 You're checking out the breakfast club. Morning, everybody is D.J.N.V. Jess, Hilary, Sholomey and the guy, we are the breakfast club. Now, Jess, I'm just making sure. What? Madison's boyfriend's mom called me yesterday. She wants to make sure when you go to Ohio,
Starting point is 01:57:13 you got her for four tickets. She asked, I told her, I said, you got her. But she says, you sure? Make sure. Yes, I got his family. Yes, I got you. Now, mind you, I had never been outside with him. I never drank with them.
Starting point is 01:57:26 So I don't know if they drunk and they get a little turned up. So if they turn up a little bit, that ain't on me. I'm just saying that. All right? They're Mexican? What are they don't? Oh. What?
Starting point is 01:57:35 You never know what your... Yeah, we never know what your family. He's half black, half white. So it's the white side. Oh, okay, okay. So they mix. Okay, cool. No, you know, the Mexicans, they be getting trashed off that tequila.
Starting point is 01:57:45 So I'm like, okay. They're not Mexican. They're not Mexican. I just make sure. He looks Mexican. You're stupid. But you're going to be in Baltimore this week, right? Yes, I'm going to be in Baltimore, Baltimore Comedy Factory.

Starting point is 01:58:38 I'll be at Black Swan this Sunday celebrating with them the dropping of the second episode. So any way you can find your podcast, y'all, The Ish podcast. Get that, listen to it or whatever. But Baltimore, I can't wait to get there today. Salute to all the HBCUs out there. This is probably one of my favorite seasons, September, October, November's when they start schools are back in session, and they have homecomings. And this Sunday I'm in Tampa for the Trapped Tailgate, which is, I guess, the Buccaneers' first game. It's like they do, like, this big HBCU event, and I'll be DJing.
Starting point is 01:59:09 So it's probably one of my favorite seasons, just to see all the HBCU alumni coming back and just having a good time seeing what all my brothers and sisters are doing out there. So salute to everybody I'll see in Tampa. And salute to everybody in South Carolina, man. You know this weekend, South Carolina State University, which is my mother's alma mater. That's why I got my honorary degree from. They play the University of South Carolina. That's my wife's alma mater.
Starting point is 01:59:34 Okay. And so, yeah, they play this weekend. Who are you for? I ruled for South Carolina in a situation like that. Okay, just South Carolina. But, I mean, the reality of the situation is going to win. But you know what I mean? But we know this already.
Starting point is 01:59:47 But yes, they. They play this weekend, man, so salute everybody in South Carolina. Sloot to Louis Vee, too. Louis V and B. Lord and my guy, Frosty, and DJ Shaquim, they got a party tonight at the museum in Columbia, South Carolina and alumni and U.S.C. alumni, so, you know. Why you ain't called me for that one, Louie? Starting point is 02:00:07 Why are you called me for that one, Louis is hilarious. Well, that's a South Carolina thing. So what? All those DJs is from South Carolina. I could just go and pull up in the support, right? No. Why would you just be pulling up and coming up to South Carolina? Well, pull up and play Annie Ups when they can be a kid.
Starting point is 02:00:18 You know what I'm saying? be mad. We be at have us all in there mad as hell. Hey, yeah. Well, you got a positive note, man. Yes, the positive note is simple, man. Always do your best, but remember your best is changing all the time, okay? Your best will depend on whether you are refreshed in the morning or tired at night. Your best will be different when you are happy as opposed to upset or healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstances, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.
Starting point is 02:00:46 Have a great weekend. You're finished or y'all done? I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different.
