The Breakfast Club - Grammy 2017 Recap

Episode Date: February 13, 2017

Monday 2/13- Last night was one of the biggest events in music, The Grammy's, so you know we had to discuss that and other things that happened during the weekend. Also, Tyrese joined us and spoke up ...about new projects and his feelings towards certain celebrities meeting with Trump. Moreover, other than some listeners calling up about their feelings about Adele winning an award over Beyonce last night, Charlamagne definitely was upset about it; so upset he gave Donkey of the Day to the Grammy committee. Really? I do not know why. Yes. It is hard for me to go to sleep on Sunday nights. You probably stayed up later than normal Friday and Saturday. No, well, this Sunday, I'm sure it was a late night.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Of course, you watched the Grammys. Yeah, I stayed up for the whole Grammys. I watched some of the Grammys, then I turned and watched Girls. But between the Grammys and Girls and Finding Bigfoot on Animal Planet, because I like that show. Okay. Yeah. I love Bruno Mars doing the Prince tribute.
Starting point is 00:04:06 I thought he did a great job. Bruno Mars killed it. His makeup could have been a little bit better. First of all, you know I love Prince. Mm-hmm. And so when I watched it, I thought he did an excellent, excellent tribute. Except for the makeup. Prince's makeup was way better than Bruno Mars' makeup.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Okay. He had the eyeliner on and everything. I like it. Yeah, Bruno Mars killed it. Shout out to Bruno Mars. When Bruno Mars first came out, he was running around the strip clubs. When I used to DJ at the strip clubs, I'd come to the strip clubs in the hood. Had him in Jersey Girls one night.
Starting point is 00:04:31 So I was like, okay. But shout out to Bruno Mars. Yeah, drop on a clues box with Bruno Mars. He's one of those gifted individuals. Absolutely. He's just gifted. He is. All the way around.
Starting point is 00:04:40 He is. And shout out to Chance the Rapper. Chance the Rapper had an amazing show. He performed and killed it. He picked up how many Grammys? Two Grammys last night? Yeah, it's interesting. I did this special with Entertainment Weekly where we talked about the Grammys.
Starting point is 00:04:52 And all my predictions came true. All of them. Which never happens. Drop on the clues box for Chance the Rapper. I felt like Chance the Rapper would win those categories and he did. I like the fact that Chance the Rapper is not afraid to testify. Chance the Rapper gives all glory to God. That is not something you see a lot of artists do.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Like, you might see a rapper get up there and be like, I want to thank God. And then go in and shout out his, you know, every gang he's a part of and all that. But Chance gave glory to God like seven times during one acceptance speech. Absolutely. And all in his album. And then his performance last night looked like David E. Talbot put it together. That looked like a Black Gospel stage play. He killed that performance last night. Yes, he did.
Starting point is 00:05:29 So much energy. And also, I've never seen somebody stop in the middle of their performance and then start it over. Restart. Let's reset. Let's reset. I wouldn't do this over. I know it's live. I wouldn't do this over. I was like, what? You can't do that. It's live. But she did it. I'm going to tell you something. You're talking about Adele. I'm one of those people that just don't appreciate Adele. I like the Adele 21 album, but Ade did it. I'm going to tell you something. You're talking about Adele. I'm one of those people that just don't appreciate Adele. I like the Adele 21 album,
Starting point is 00:05:46 but Adele on stage is boring to me. I mean, windshield wipers going and it's not even raining. The tribute was kind of just boring. She is a Twitter egg with vocals to me. Absolutely. I mean, I guess if you were a huge fan of Adele and had her albums, you would like to see her perform live, because I know people who are
Starting point is 00:06:01 humongous Adele fans. Some of them work here, by the way. I think you're talking. Some of them work here. I think you're talking about the George Michael tribute. That's who you're talking about? But I think you're talking about her performing in general. She performed other things. And I love the 21 album.
Starting point is 00:06:12 The 25 was cool. It wasn't better than Lemonade, but it was cool. But I know people who are super fans that go to every Adele performance and can sit through it because they love to see her
Starting point is 00:06:19 perform the songs live. Watch Beyonce. Watch a Beyonce performance and an Adele performance and come on. It's not even close, bro. I don't think a Beyonce performance and an Adele performance. And come on. It's not even close, bro. I don't think Adele fans anticipate her to be exciting. Beyonce ain't had no holograms.
Starting point is 00:06:31 That was an hologram? What was that? That was her regular superpowers. Shut up, man. When she leaned back in that chair, that was all telekinesis, bro. Shut up. What's wrong with you? It wasn't no special effects when Beyonce performed.
Starting point is 00:06:41 That's what it was. That was her superpowers, kid. You need to grow up. I need to grow up. That's her superpowers, kid. You need to grow up. I need to grow up. That's her superpowers. I can't believe you would say that. The 10 Beyoncés going around. Yeah, magic.
Starting point is 00:06:52 That was her? It was a beautiful... Yo, shut up, man. Beautiful, beautiful performance. You thought those were special effects? When she leaned back in that chair, you thought that was a prop? That was hot. Listen, when she leaned back in that chair, me and L'Oreal were like, whoa, whoa, now
Starting point is 00:07:03 come on now. That's the twins doing. We're not going to play those games. That was telekinesis. I was like, she got this. It's easy. And, of course, we got to talk about Cam'ron over the weekend. Cam'ron did an Insta Live for three hours.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Dropped on the clothes bombs for Cam'ron. It kept dropping. It was amazing. I was going bowling. I was like, all right, I got to go bowling. Nah, I watched that. Guy and I were doing date night watching Cam'ron. I see this on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Nah, it was great. Cam'ron started trying to start a trend of interviewing himself. Let me tell you all this stuff. That's not going to work for you. That's not going to work. You got to stop right now. You got to put a halt to that right now. That's not going to work for you.
Starting point is 00:07:30 All right. Well, let's get the show cracking. Front page news, what are we talking about? Well, of course, we are going to talk about the Grammys from last night. So you can weigh in. Also, tell us what you thought. And we'll talk about California and the dam system and why over 180,000 people had to be evacuated. And Tyrese is going to be here this morning.
Starting point is 00:07:48 Yeah, Tyrese will be joining us next hour. Tyrese Gibson. Black tie. If you're blessed, you feel good, you want to spread some blessings on blessings on blessings to the people, you want to spread some positivity, call us right now, 805-851051. I had to make sure I liked
Starting point is 00:08:04 that record. I had to make sure I liked that record. I had to make sure. That record's tough. I had to make sure I liked it because it's actually a dope record and not because, you know, I'm a Pinkett Smith, Winfrey Knowles, Carter. But that's a tough tour. Mm-hmm. All right, well, let's get in some front page news, all right? Now, let's talk a Grammy recap.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Yes, well, we're going to be talking Grammy recap all morning because a lot of things did happen last night at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Now, Adele swept every category that she was nominated for, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year for Hello. And when she won Album of the Year award, she actually felt like Beyonce deserved it for Lemonade. Here's what she said. My artist of my life is Beyonce, and this album for me,
Starting point is 00:08:44 the Lemonade album was just so monumental. Beyonce, it was so monumental and so beautiful and soul bearing and we all got to see another side to you that you don't always let us see and we appreciate that and all us artists here adore you. You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel,
Starting point is 00:09:05 the way you make my black friends feel is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves. And I love you. I always have, and I always will. It's awkward, my black friend. That didn't bother me.
Starting point is 00:09:16 I feel like Adele missed a moment. It was just a little awkward. I feel like she missed a moment to use her privilege to combat prejudice, though, because I feel like she could have said Beyonce's music makes me want to stand up for my black friends and other black people experiencing racial injustice in America. Of course, Beyonce's music makes her black friends want to stand up for themselves. But does it make you want to stand up for them?
Starting point is 00:09:34 Maybe she didn't feel that way. I'm just saying that's the kind of messaging I would have. I just think it was a bit awkward. That's all. I don't think she meant anything wrong by it. I just think it just sounded. I didn't say she said anything wrong. I didn't say she meant anything wrong. No, when Evie said maybe she doesn't feel that way, I just think it just sounded wrong. I didn't say she said anything wrong. I didn't say she meant
Starting point is 00:09:45 anything wrong. No, when Evie said maybe she doesn't feel that way. I just think it was an awkward moment. Maybe that's just how she felt. Maybe she didn't feel that way.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Intention matters. She wasn't saying anything in malice. But I'm just saying we know Beyonce's music makes your black friends want to stand up for themselves.
Starting point is 00:09:59 But does it make you want to stand up for them? Right. That's what I would've went with if I was her. But you know, whatever. All right. Well, Beyonce won for Best Urban Cont if I was her. But, you know, whatever. All right. Well, Beyonce won for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Starting point is 00:10:08 She won for Best Music Video also for Formation and the album for, of course, Lemonade. And here's what her speech sounded like. We all experience pain and loss and often we become inaudible. My intention for the film and album was to create a body of work that would give a voice to our pain, our struggles, our darkness, and our history. To confront issues that make us uncomfortable. It's important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty. So they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror. First through their own families and see themselves and have no doubt that they're beautiful, intelligent, and capable.
Starting point is 00:10:45 This is something I want for every child of every race. I don't want to be petty, but why Adele audio sound all crispy and clear when we played it with Beyoncé? They probably got it from two different places. They probably got it from two different places. I'm doing the same show, the Grammys. Give me two different places. I don't want to be petty here, but I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Well, Blue Ivy looked like she had a great time last night also. Absolutely. But that's some front page news. And I just want to talk about California too, by the way. There's over 180,000 people evacuated because of the dam. So a lot of people are concerned about that. All right. Tell them why you're mad.
Starting point is 00:11:18 800-585-1051. If you're upset, you need to vent, call us right now. Maybe you had a bad weekend. There was a little snow over the weekend. Maybe your weekend was F'd. Call us right now, 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:11:30 The Breakfast Club. Last night's a good day. You get it, man. Yo, son, why you look like that? Yo, yo, I'm a real man, son. Yo, stop acting like that. Yo, yo, I'm getting real bad, son. Matter of fact, yo, yo, tell me why you mad on The Breakfast Club, man, for real.
Starting point is 00:11:49 F*** me all emotional. I'm sweating slob coming out my nose. I can't stand it. For real. I'm out of here. Hello, who's this? This is Tracy. Hey, Tracy.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Tell them why you mad. Hey, Tracy. Hey, I am mad because I'm not a Beyonce performer. I'm sorry. She is not a singer. She's a performer. And if she's not in a compromising position or crawling on the floor, she has nothing going on. Any woman with a shape can crawl around, put on something seductive, and make it happen.
Starting point is 00:12:18 That's not true. No, that is true. We'll let you tell that lie this morning. You've not experienced that, but maybe it is true. You know, yeah, a woman in a seductive, compromising position with something flinky on is really hot to a man. But it's really downgrading women. You hating on Beyonce? Beyonce, there's nothing downgrading about women to Beyonce.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Well, let me ask you this. Don't you think that Beyonce's a great dancer and singer? That's what I'm saying. She's a performer. She's not a singer. She's a performer. You don't think she has a great voice? That's why Adele wanted for singing, not performing.
Starting point is 00:12:56 What I don't appreciate is Carrie Hilson having her fans call a pay to slam to Beyonce early in the morning. Well, honey, I'm not a Carrie Hilson fan either. I mean, I am me all by myself. Who do you like? I am very much a lady. I'm sorry? Who do you like? Who do I like? I like singers. You know, I'm
Starting point is 00:13:16 into like Rochelle Pharrell. You know, people that can sing. That can stand without a mic, without props, without all that, and just stand flat-footed and sing. You ain't got to sing. Baby, I'm so sorry. She's a singer that didn't make it.
Starting point is 00:13:28 And I do apologize on your behalf as well. But there are singers out here that deserve a lot more recognition than Beyonce. I'm sorry that you didn't look as good as Beyonce pregnant. Oh, baby, I don't have to look as good as Beyonce. I look better. So that's why I'm not even worried about it. You tell her, pregnant. Oh, baby, I don't have to look as good as Beyonce. I look better. So that's why I'm not even worried about it. You tell her, mama. Okay, mama. You can tell she's a struggling singer.
Starting point is 00:13:50 She used to be a singer. She's 69. Hello, who's this? I'm Jones. How you doing? Hey, tell them why you mad. I'm not really mad. I'm just upset with Charlamagne because Charlamagne is too intelligent. And that interview y'all did with Big Sean, that was so, so nice. Charlamagne is too intelligent to be yo interview y'all did with Big Sean, that was so, so nice.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Charlemagne is too intelligent to be, yo, yo, yo, that sounds so stupid. What do you mean? I can't say yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. Charlemagne, Charlemagne, you really need to stop. You're intelligent, brother. You got a book out. You got things going on. You got to go.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Oh, by the way, by the way, the book's not out yet, but it's available for pre-order at seethebook.com. It'll be out April 18th, okay? Yeah, you stupid. You shouldn't be saying yo, yo, yo, yo. Say it in a different way. Listen, I don't claim. I know I'm an idiot.
Starting point is 00:14:30 If you don't believe I'm an idiot, I don't know what's wrong with you. Hello, who's this? I don't know nothing. Hello? Hey, tell them why you mad. You upset, mama? Good morning. I'm very upset.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Why? I'm actually upset because I work for a private ambulance company based out of the Bronx, New York, and I'm upset because they're paying fast a private ambulance company based out of the Bronx, New York. And I'm upset because they're paying fast food workers more than they pay EMS workers right now. Yeah. I think that's very disrespectful. I feel like all public service workers need to be rich. I really feel that way.
Starting point is 00:14:57 Thank you for calling. Whether you're a police officer, firefighter, EMS, doctor, teacher, like, they should be balling. 800-585-1051. Tell them why you're mad. But now let's clear, teacher. Like, they should be bawling. 800-585-1051. Tell them why you're mad. But now let's clear the lines. And now it's blessings upon blessings upon blessings. If you feel blessed this morning, call us up. We'll put you live on the air.
Starting point is 00:15:13 It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Listen up. Okay. Are you blessed and highly favored? I feel blessed. Tell the congregation at 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:15:28 It's the Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Hey, Mama, you feel blessed? Okay, okay, okay, okay. What's up, baby? Why you feel so blessed? Hey, Amy. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:15:45 I'm blessed because I got a food for my apartment this weekend, so I'm moving up out of my daddy's house. There you go. How old are you? Uh-oh. I'm 22. Watch out now. Congratulations, mama.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Thanks, y'all. Have a good day. You too. Hello, who's this? How you doing? This is Will, man, calling out of Norfolk, Virginia. Will, you feeling blessed this morning? Yes, sir, man. I got a good wife, man, awesome kids, making a good income.
Starting point is 00:16:09 You know what I mean? I really can't complain this morning. I thank y'all for the opportunity, too. Thank you, man. It's a blessed segment, man, to be able to share it with the people, man. That's all, man. Be thankful for what you have. You'll get blessed with more. Hello, who's this? Hi, this is Rachel from New Haven, Connecticut. Hey, Rachel, you feeling blessed this morning?
Starting point is 00:16:23 I'm feeling absolutely blessed. Tell us why. My father moved from New York to Connecticut because Hey, Rachel. You feeling blessed this morning? I'm feeling absolutely blessed. Tell us why. My father moved from New York to Connecticut because me and my sister live here. And he's been helping me. He's been amazing with my kids. He's been helping me. Today they have a two-hour delay, and he didn't hesitate to say, oh, no, I'll take them.
Starting point is 00:16:40 He has to take a cab. But so be it. He had no hesitation saying he'll do it. So basically what you're trying to say is you're happy you don't got to pay for babysitters and Ubers no more for your little kid? No, no. No, I was good in the first place. But my dad is just
Starting point is 00:16:53 my grandmother passed away in August, so he moved out here. He was like, oh, there's nothing left for me in New York. So he came out here with us. That's great. Kudos to your dad for helping you out. And it's nice to have actually your father be the one to watch your kids. Absolutely. Someone that I trust more than anybody in the world, you know?
Starting point is 00:17:10 Nothing like having a grand babysitter. Oh, stop it. Now, that's blessings. If you feel blessed, you want to spread some positive vibes, you can always call us, 805-851-051. Naeem, we got rumors on the way? Yes, we are going to start off talking about the Grammys, of course, some more. And then Cameron, who went live on Instagram on Saturday night, will tell you some
Starting point is 00:17:25 highlights of what he had to say okay we'll get into all that when we come back keep it locked it's The Breakfast Club good morning The Breakfast Club Morning everybody it's DJ Envy Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God we are The Breakfast Club let's get to some rumors. Let's talk, Cameron.
Starting point is 00:17:48 It's about time. What's going on? Rumor Report. Rumor Report. This is The Rumor Report. Talk to them. With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Well, Saturday night, Cameron was on Instagram Live, and that is all to respond to an interview that Jim Jones recently did.
Starting point is 00:18:04 I was on my way into the bowling alley when this Instagram Live, and that is all to respond to an interview that Jim Jones recently did. I was on my way into the bowling alley when this Instagram Live started. I was watching it the whole way there, but then we were sitting in the car outside the bowling alley, and I was like, all right, we got to go bowl now. I was at home. There was nothing else on television anyway, so I was right there watching Cameron. Yeah, I was with you. Now, Cameron was giving the whole history between him and Jim Jones and basically what went down to lead to their falling out.
Starting point is 00:18:26 He says that they never had any paperwork together. He said he never had any paperwork with Jim Jones. And he also says that Jim Jones mismanaged his artists. He also talked about Max B. He talks about Stack Bundles. Mandisi actually called also during this interview. And here's some more of what Cameron had to say about Jim Jones. He's like, yo, Kim, let's act like we got beef.
Starting point is 00:18:53 And I'm like, why would we act like we got beef? I said, what we gonna do is confuse the fans and make them pick sides. That don't even make no sense. Why the f*** would we act like we got beef? That don't make no sense. He's like, yeah, yeah, you're right. Like, he was disappointed that I wasn't with the s***. That's why today, even to this day,
Starting point is 00:19:12 it make me mad because this was his plan 15 years ago to act like we got a problem that we don't have. Now, they did actually end up having a real problem, according to Cameron. He said things started going downhill. That's when Jim Jones started dating Chrissy, who, of course, we all know he's still with Chrissy to this day.
Starting point is 00:19:29 He didn't know how serious they would get, and he was making fun of Jim Jones for buying Chrissy all these presents early on in their relationship. He said he was buying her bag, shoes, the first two or three weeks after he met her. So Cameron had some T-shirts made. Tricky Ricky, a.k.a. Jim Jones, is a trick. And he made everybody wear them in the studio.
Starting point is 00:19:48 He was thinking it was fun, playful. But that's when Jim Jones took it seriously. And he said, to this day, he said, I'll be man enough. I'll apologize about that. It was a joke, and he took it seriously. He said, that's when Ish fell out after I made those shirts. So it's a long, like, over two-hour live stream. It was like three hours.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Three hours. I've listened to both POVs and I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but neither one of them seem like they have real issues with each other. It just sounds to me
Starting point is 00:20:12 like two people who simply outgrew each other. That's it. And then the words of Nile, the thug changes, love changes, and best friends become strangers.
Starting point is 00:20:19 It happens sometimes. But for the bread, they need to get back together. I mean, I would love to see a dip set tour all over again. And he talked a lot about Bird Gang also and how Jim Jones started kind of branching out and doing the Bird Gang thing. And he did say that he also trademarked Bird Gang.
Starting point is 00:20:33 I didn't understand that part. He got a copyright. I don't understand why he, that was foul. You can't go copyright my man's logo and something that he's representing. That's why he said that. Like, I didn't understand that. Right. Yeah, that was kind of weird. I don't know. All right, well, let's get back into Grammy talk. I said we're going to be doing that he represents. That's how he said that. Like, I didn't understand that. Right. Yeah, that was kind of weird.
Starting point is 00:20:45 I don't know. All right, well, let's get back into Grammy talk. I said we're going to be doing that all morning, right? And we gave you some updates on what's going on. We talked about Adele sweeping all of her categories, all five of hers. Rob and Beyonce for album of the year. Yes, we discussed that as well. Beyonce did win two.
Starting point is 00:21:01 She did win two Grammys, though, this year. I was upset that Rihanna didn't get anything, because I thought she, that was my album right there, too. But Chance the Rapper did also win two Grammys. Check him out when he won his award for best rap album. I didn't think that we were gonna get
Starting point is 00:21:18 this one, so I don't have cool stuff to say this time. I just, once again, I want to thank God for everything that he's accomplished for me, everything that he's went through with me. I want to thank him for my mother, for my father, for my brother, Taylor Bennett. And this is for every indie artist, everybody who's been doing this mixtape stuff for a long time. Shouts out to DJ Drama for doing it first. He put in that time. Shouts out to every independent artist out there.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Shouts out to SoundCloud for holding me down. It's another one, Peggy! Relax old DJs. Use this opportunity to teach Envy. Use this opportunity to teach Envy. Go. Drama wasn't the first, but Chance is young. Go. Who was before
Starting point is 00:22:01 Drama, Envy? I mean, there's many DJs before Drama. A lot. DJ Clue, DJ Dirty Harry. Before that, Ron G. Ron G. But this is what affected Chance the Rapper. Capri, Tony Touch. Tony Touch was amazing. I used to like DJ Lazy K with the mixtapes.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Remember her? Mm-hmm. All right, well, let's talk about who was in that category for Best Rap Album besides Chance the Rapper. It was in the anonymous Nobody De La Soul, Major Key, DJ Khaled, Views from Drake, Blankface LP,
Starting point is 00:22:27 Schoolboy Q, and The Life of Pablo Kanye West. I still think... If you would've predicted that. I still think Life of Pablo by Kanye should've won
Starting point is 00:22:34 for best rap album of the year. But I'm not mad at Chance. I like Chance's album better. His album's dope. I like Chance's album. And his performance last night was amazing.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Yeah, his performance was incredible. David Itabo directed it. Congratulations again to Chance the rapper. And congratulations to Solange. She won for Cranes in the Sky for Best R&B Performance, by the way. You may even put that on TV. I was saying before, man, I really hope that Solange wins something.
Starting point is 00:22:58 How many awards do they actually televise? I think it's only like seven or eight or something like that. Right. Throughout the entire night. Fat Joe Rameon? Gotta be more than that. No, it's only like seven or eight or something like that. Right. Throughout the entire night. Fat Joe and Remy Ma? Gotta be more than that. Nah, I think they don't. Those mad performances. You telling me in a three hour show they only televised eight? Yeah. Except like eight people
Starting point is 00:23:12 winning awards? Maybe like two an hour. I'm gonna tell you exactly how many it is, but they really don't show a lot of awards on TV. Fat Joe and Remy Ma didn't win? I don't think so. How many? No, they didn't win. Alright, I'm Angela Yee and that's your Rumor Report. Alright, thank you Miss Yee. Now that's your rumor report. All right, thank you, Miss Yee. Now, when we come back, Brother Reese will be joining us.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Ty Reese will be in the building. He has a, what show is it on? It's called Star. Star. It's called Star, so we'll kick it with him about that, Fast and Furious, and everything that's going on in Ty Reese's life. So don't go anywhere. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Good morning. That was DJ Khaled, Jay-Z, Beyonce with Shinin'. His new joint he released last night after the Grammys. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We got a brother, my brother in the building, Brother Reese. Definitely family.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Love when this guy comes through. Good morning, sir. Good morning. I love y'all. I like the jewelry. It looks really nice together. Thank you. I like that.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Thank you. I'm trying to do a little something. I'm trying to be like Envy. He told me what he was doing today, and I said I'll do'all. I like the jewelry. It looks really nice together. Thank you. Now you said that. I like that. Thank you. I'm trying to do a little something. I'm trying to be like Envy. He told me what he was doing today, and I said I'll do the same. Now, Tyrese, first and foremost, did the Tyrese challenge upset you? No, I loved it. I can't tell when he's serious or not. I can't tell when Tyrese is serious or not either.
Starting point is 00:24:18 Because when the challenge was going on, I was like, let me go to Tyrese Page and see what he's doing. Tyrese on some island somewhere. I just had breakfast on a balcony. I loved it. It ain't never happened to me ever in history. I loved it. Listen, truth be told, Kevin Hart put up the Tyrese Challenge, and then he texted me about it, like,
Starting point is 00:24:41 you might want to get to my timeline right now. And then I said, I just want to give you the heads up that I'm going to talk some shit underneath your comments like I'm mad about it. But I really love it. I was like, yo, y'all going too far. But I was loving it. It was great. You and Tank never going to fight, man. Y'all seem like y'all going to fight.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Me and Tank? Me and Tank? I would never fight Tank. He's got too many muscles, for one. My muscles have been inactive for many years. Okay. And he is working out every day. Yeah, it's ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:25:07 Now, you're still getting a lot of checks. A lot going on. It's a lot happening. Fast and Furious, what? Eight? Ten. Yes, Fate of the Furious is coming. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Yes. And then the Star. Stars. Star. Star. Star. Star. Yes.
Starting point is 00:25:19 The series is called Star. Star on Fox. Now, you're a pastor on that show. I'm a pastor. That makes sense. And I heard this week the gay community is going to be very upset at the show. Why is this? What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:25:29 He's trying to break the gay away. First of all, first of all, first of all, Charlamagne, you are not going to set me up to have the LGBT community to come after me. I would never do that. I hear you, man. You just threw that lob out there like I ain't here. I'm sitting right here. I see what you're doing. But you're performing in exorcism. First of all, I just want to clarify a couple things.
Starting point is 00:25:51 A transgender or something? I want to make sure I clarify a couple things here, alright? Because I just, you listen, I'm a man of God, and I just want to make sure I clarify. Whatever you're doing with your life, as long as you're happy, you live your life.
Starting point is 00:26:05 I don't judge. It's not my job. I'm not here to judge. I am here to tell you all about some uncomfortable shit that went down on this show. Okay. Okay? It was uncomfortable. So it was uncomfortable to shoot, and it's going to be uncomfortable for people to watch.
Starting point is 00:26:20 It's a character. And it's coming on this Wednesday. This Wednesday. What time? 9 p.m. on Fox. Now, what are you doing with this transgender? Conversion shock. Okay, well, let's...
Starting point is 00:26:29 Okay, so, a little back story on the characters. My character's name is Pastor Harris. I'm a street dude, ex-con, rededicated my life to Christ, and I became a pastor. And now I'm the senior pastor of my own church. Very small church, nothing big. Recently divorced with three kids. I started dating a woman in my congregation named Carlotta, played by Queen Latifah. I'm in love with her.
Starting point is 00:27:01 She's in love with me. I'm very transparent. She's met my kids. She's been to my house. I keep asking her, when am I going to come to your house? When am I going to come to your salon? When, I can't wait to meet her. Get to the house. We're sitting around the dinner table. Lo and behold, her daughter is actually her son. And she kept it away from me. Her daughter, her son becomes a woman. Transgender. Transgender.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Okay. So in this particular scene, the reason why I was uncomfortable to shoot and it's going to be uncomfortable to watch is because she invites me over to the house and she basically says help pray my son out of gay. Pray the gay away. Pray the gay away in some capacity. Now,
Starting point is 00:27:57 here's what's interesting. There's been a lot of parents and there's been a lot of family members, husbands and wives and people that have tried to do the same thing. While everybody's focused on Bruce Jenner and the outcome of his choice that made him happy ultimately, how many people tried to step in and say, Daddy, this is going to be bad for the family and try to get pastors and therapists and counselors to get in there and see if ultimately this is a decision that he wanted to make because everyone was going to be affected by it.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Now, again, do what makes you happy. But sometimes people be doing things, not necessarily thinking about the effects that it's going to have on others. So whether you gay or making a bad or good business decision, whatever the case may be, that's what happens. So I don't want the LGBT community to come after me. I'm just talking about that real shit. And I'm saying everything about this show.
Starting point is 00:28:47 First of all, Lee Daniels is openly gay. Right. Everyone knows. That's the protection right there. You got a complexion for the protection. I didn't write this movie. Lee Daniels got the erection for the protection. I didn't write this show.
Starting point is 00:28:57 I'm doing my job. I knew exactly what I was signing up for. Gotcha. And I just said, you know what? The reason I'm going to do this scene that I'm uncomfortable with doing is because it is unrealistic in 2017
Starting point is 00:29:11 to think or believe that homosexuality, gay or transgender is never going to come into your house. That's real. You may have a son or a daughter. You may be raising them as a good, wholesome Christian,
Starting point is 00:29:26 whatever the case may be. And your daughter may decide that I love a woman. And if your daughter is happy, your daughter should live her life. And I'm sure somebody in that community will watch that and be like, wow, I've probably been through that. You know what I'm saying? Of course. So what did you have to do? How did you have to learn that part? Well, I can't give
Starting point is 00:29:42 away the whole scene, but I can just tell you that after we shot it, real tears were flying. We were all hugging, praying together because it was uncomfortable. And, you know, the woman, I have to say woman because she's living as a woman.
Starting point is 00:29:58 It's just not an actor. Oh, she's not an actor. She's really a transgender. She's really a transgender. She lives it, been a transgender. So it's not like they did some casting with a man and said, hey, you could look good as a woman and then put him in the show. It's really a transgender. Was she pretty?
Starting point is 00:30:13 Huh? Amen. Of course, Charlamagne. I see what's going on in life. That's what he asked. So you might want to get in the comments and answer his question. I tried to hold it. I was wondering if I could hold it for 21 minutes.
Starting point is 00:30:32 So here's my direct invite for everybody to tune in this Wednesday, 9 p.m. on Fox. There's a lot of TV shows out there. I've never done TV in my life. And I just want y'all to give us a shot. Now you got Lenny Kravitz, Naomi Campbell, Queen Latifah, Lee Daniels. Y'all know he's behind Precious.
Starting point is 00:30:54 You got Paris Jackson about to come do an appearance. The show is touching on molestation, sexual assault. It's touching on people that's willing to do pretty much anything it takes to get on and stay on in the music industry. It's a real crazy show. Benjamin Brad is killing every scene.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Queen Latifah is like got all of us on her shoulders. It's a crazy show. I've never done TV, man. All right, we got more with Tyrese when we come back. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. That was more money, more problems.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy Angela Yee. Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We have Tyrese in the building. Charlamagne, why are so many Hollywood stars going to TV now? Like movie stars going to TV? Well, at first, most of us were scared to do TV.
Starting point is 00:31:51 I mean, Denzel Washington put this out there many years back, that if you give yourself away on TV every day for free, no one's going to want to come see you on the weekends in the box office. Right. Right? So, it's like feeling overexposed and losing your mystique. But I think social media has directly invited people into TV, right?
Starting point is 00:32:16 Because you're tweeting and Instagramming and you're on social media every day. So the mystique is kind of gone, away from a lot of stars. Matter of fact, most of us could find ourselves not getting a TV or a movie deal if you don't have social media engagement. First, they'll ask you, how much does he want? Well, how many followers he got? Because that's all a part of tying it all in and making it make sense. So it's kind of things are changing. That's just like saying that taxis are still relevant
Starting point is 00:32:45 versus Uber or Lyft. We're living in a different time. Taraji kind of shattered that with Hidden Figures anyway. They don't get no bigger than Cookie on Empire and then she jumped right in the movie and they done it over 100 million. Well over 100. And we were going to see you on Empire previously,
Starting point is 00:32:59 but now you're on Star. Yeah, well, you know, same folks behind it. You know, I just... The original Big Daddy. That's right. Can we do politics for a second? Yeah, let's talk about it. Donald Trump, your new president. Yeah, my new president. He ain't my president. He ain't my president. People were coming at
Starting point is 00:33:15 Chrisette Michelle for performing at his inauguration. What did you think about it? I came at Chrisette Michelle. Why? Well, here's the thing. Let's not make it about Chrisette. Let's make it about Kanye. Let's make it about Steve Harvey. Let's make it about Chrisette. And let's make it about the NFL player who also showed up.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Ray Lewis, Jim Brown. Right. So here's my thing. In Hollywood, when you're working on a movie or a TV set, they call them props. And then you got the prop master. The prop master is responsible for putting anything that you may need in the scene while you're shooting the scene.
Starting point is 00:33:53 He reads the script. It says he's got a gun, coffee on the table, da-da-da-da. Anything that's described on the script ends up in the scene being delivered by the prop master. And then you're being used as a prop. Donald Trump has no intentions towards black people.
Starting point is 00:34:11 He has nothing to do with the intentions of black people, period. No good intentions. He's got no good intentions towards pretty much anybody but his own agenda. I've been very vocal about it. I'm not here on The Breakfast Show taking off just because. So in my mind, I felt like they were being used as props by the prop master.
Starting point is 00:34:32 He's going to say whatever he wants to say in front of you. He's going to make you feel like he's involved and intrigued by whatever your visions and ideas is for the inner city. And he ain't going to do shit. And then he's going to
Starting point is 00:34:43 take a picture with you. Okay. He's going to take a picture with you. Okay. He's going to take a picture with you. He's going to go down to the lobby and have the cameras rolling, which he all arranged. And he's going to look like he's involved in the urban and black community with black and urban intentions when he's not. And my thing is, because I love Steve Harvey specifically, and I'm not going to be here to pile up on my brother. Steve Harvey is literally behind my R&B career. Shane was number one for 16 weeks because Steve Harvey was my biggest champion.
Starting point is 00:35:12 And he's a real nigga. Let's keep it 100. Absolutely. We all have a story. We all have a history. Most of us are saints. I'm sorry. Most of us are sinners that became saints.
Starting point is 00:35:23 We're trying to clean it up. A saint is a sinner that got up. We're're trying to clean it up. A saint is a sinner that got up. We're all trying to clean it up. Nobody's perfect. So at the end of the day, when you see people piling up on Steve and piling up on Corsette and piling up on Kanye, they have opinions. And here's the thing. Donald Trump is literally the most hated human being on human feet right now. So it doesn't matter what you say as far as what your ideas and intentions are.
Starting point is 00:35:54 You're setting yourself up to be attacked by everyone who hates that man, period. So I think at the end of the day, you know, now that Kanye is tweeting, I'm no longer aligning myself with Trump because of what he's doing with the Muslim ban and this and that. Bro, you should have never aligned yourself with him in the first place. What's the plan? What's the intention? Where you at, Scooter Braun? Where you at, Steve Stout?
Starting point is 00:36:16 Where you at, Jay-Z? I need somebody in Kanye's life to be able to step in and, first of all, be a brother and a friend and say bro as much as you want to think that as much as you want to do that you shouldn't do it and be able to show us that y'all still got enough influence to stop that man from jumping out there and doing so much like i'm concerned i know yay i don't want him to tweet about me i don't need the attention everything is fine in my life but at the end of the day, I'm concerned about the choices. The choices that they're allowing that man to make.
Starting point is 00:36:50 And friends don't let friends drive drunk. Friends also don't let real friends jump out there and continue to make a fool of yourself from doing things and not having a real mission and agenda attached to these intentions. So, on behalf of Steve, I would say this.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Steve, if you're going to jump out there and meet with Donald Trump and you say that the Obama administration asked you to step out there and have a conversation with Trump to try and bridge the gap, when you're getting attacked and your family's survival is being compromised because everybody is eating you alive and calling you buffoons and coons and all this, I need President Obama to put up a tweet and say, thank you, Steve, for doing exactly what I asked you to do.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Well, Obama did it during his last State of the Union address. That's what he said. He said that we should go across the aisle and speak to people who. Yeah, but not everybody did it. Steve Harvey jumped out there to go meet with Obama with Trump and got attacked. His ratings on his show
Starting point is 00:37:54 went down. Everything went crazy. And the Obama or the Obama administration never jumped out there to have Steve back to say thank you for jumping out there when they're witnessing this man catch all his heat. So what do you suggest we do? Do we just ignore the president?
Starting point is 00:38:09 Engage or resist? What do we do, Ty? Well, I would say this. If you're going to have any kind of conversations with that man, you should have the pedigree that reflects what your intentions are. Don't just be some random singer
Starting point is 00:38:25 and actor going in there to meet with the president. Sit your ass down. You'd have no pedigree that reflects whatever changes you're trying to affect with that man. Now, hold on. Let me play White Devil's Advocate for one second. Yeah. He's still a celebrity at the end of the day. He was the executive producer.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Donald Trump. He was the executive producer of Celebrity Apprentice. So Steve Harvey could talk circles around Donald if he want to. But I understand what you're saying being that he's president now and part of an administration. My thing is this. He should bring somebody in there and know his policy and stuff like that. The indication of someone's intentions is a direct reflection of their intentions of the past. Who you are and what you represent right now and your future, you can look at the past. When you got a man named Donald Trump
Starting point is 00:39:07 who went out of his way to stop black people from moving into his buildings. When you got damn near 7,000 lawsuits. When you say drain the swamp and you've now aligned yourself with every version of a swamp in the White House, it shows you what your
Starting point is 00:39:23 intentions are. You haven't even paid the people that worked for you. You've got people, you've got men, women, and immigrants that have worked in all of your buildings to help build your empire, and you basically say, if you did all the marble floors in my lobby, you getting paid don't matter. Right. So at the end of the day, and we've heard every version of every attack on Donald Trump. I'm simply saying if you don't have the pedigree, if you're not a real civil rights leader that live it, breathe it, eat, sleep it every day, get your ass out of the house and stop playing. Because you don't have the pedigree to walk into that room and affect change.
Starting point is 00:40:03 This is not about reality stars meeting with reality stars chrisette michelle i really want to believe that you got paid to do that show but my history has shown that most people that perform for political figures on that level we don't get paid we don't get paid as a matter of fact they make us fly ourselves out put ourselves up in hotels and pay for our own bands to perform at their events. But nobody wanted to do Trump, so they might have do us something. She said she got her normal appearance fee for it. Listen, man.
Starting point is 00:40:32 It was a regular booking. Beyonce ain't got paid and she didn't perform for several Obama events privately and publicly. Okay? When you're doing events for presidents and queens and royals, it's more of an opportunity for you to do your thing for them than for us to be paid for doing our thing for them. Yeah, she told me she threw out a high number and they accepted. It was a number over her feet that she used. Listen, man.
Starting point is 00:40:55 She lying? She lying. Listen, I won't call that woman a liar unless she put an Instagram post up showing us a check. I don't need to see where the money was wired to, but show me that you were actually paid from the White House for performing at the White House. Otherwise,
Starting point is 00:41:11 I personally don't believe it. We got more with Tyrese when we come back. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Straight up to my face, trying to play it safe. That was Drake, Fake Love. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:41:29 We have Tyrese in the building. The last time you were here, Tyrese, you said that you were going to retire. Is that still true? Well, I just did another deal. All that success they had. Okay, no, shame. Shame, my bad, shame. Okay, it's love, it's love, it's love. Listen, so I will be releasing a hip-hop album. Shout, no. Shame. Shame. My bad. Shame. Okay. Stay with the force. Stay with the force. It's love.
Starting point is 00:41:45 It's love. Listen, so I will be releasing a hip-hop album. Shout out to my man. Black Tie? Black Tie is coming. And I'm not going to do it for sales. I'm not going to do it for any other reason other than getting mine off. I got to put this out there to everybody in the industry.
Starting point is 00:41:59 There you go. I got to put it out there. Listen. The day that you start living your life within people's opinion is the beginning of the end. Everybody's going to have some shit to say about everything you're doing in your life. A
Starting point is 00:42:13 gift comes from God. Multiple. Some of us has many gifts. They all belong to God. So for you to decide to hold the breath of any one of your gifts that God has given you, at a certain point, it's gonna die. So Black Tie needs to breathe right now.
Starting point is 00:42:30 I gotta get my ideas off. It will happen. Identity Theft is the name of the album. Why is it called Identity Theft? It's called Identity Theft because I'm working with a bunch of ghost writers to help me to write my lyrics. Oh, wow. Like who? I'm gonna bring them up here when to write my lyrics. Oh, wow. Like who?
Starting point is 00:42:46 I'm going to bring them up here when I do my interview. So you're not doing another Tyrese R&B album? Listen, listen. Forget the you, he just said. Listen, listen. He openly admitted that he's going to have ghost writers writing his rap. But you've been telling her that for years. No, listen, this is what I'm saying to you.
Starting point is 00:43:00 You've got to get Quentin Miller. Listen, I got some really sad news for all of you hip-hop passionate fans out here in the game. Oh boy. Most of your favorite rappers got ghostwriters, and it's been going on for years. Now, here's the thing. This is what's crazy.
Starting point is 00:43:17 As an R&B, I'm just looking to make my statement, which is, I got love for hip-hop, I got a passion for it, and I'm gonna get in in there and I'm going to do my best. Now, guess what? I'm going to make these lyrics my lyrics because I'm never going to rap about anything I don't agree with. Right. Most of your
Starting point is 00:43:33 favorite rappers, believe it or not, not all, but most of your favorite rappers has ghostwriters, and what I'm going to do is, when I release this identity theft, I'm going to ask every ghostwriter that's ever demoed and referenced a track to release. Because it's sitting in a laptop. Why do you want to do that?
Starting point is 00:43:55 They are not going to do that. Why do you want to expose the audience? Because guess what? Guess what? I'm a singer. Right. Here's the truth. I don't know why y'all is so uptight about the reality of Ghost Riders working with your favorite rappers.
Starting point is 00:44:08 The truth be told is you still love me as an R&B singer. I ain't write all my R&B hits, but I'm still getting this vagina off of you. We're not mad at you. You can't be number one. Listen, I didn't write Sweet Lady. You didn't write Sweet Lady. You didn't write Sweet Lady. I didn't write Sweet Lady. Did you write Stay?
Starting point is 00:44:29 Some of it. You didn't write Sweet Lady at all. Who wrote it? Jontae Austin and Troy Taylor from the character. Character music. Listen, I didn't write Sweet Lady, but I definitely took advantage of all that vaginal activity that happened for many years. That's real.
Starting point is 00:44:48 And I'm going to tell you what else. I'm just keeping it real. Like at the end of the day, like you can't downplay my gift because I didn't put all the words. Listen, you go find me an actor who has won Oscars that can be able to say that they wrote all the words that they said in a movie. You didn't write the movie. You still are the most well-respected actor. Those are not your words. And some people don't have star quality.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Star quality is a gift, too. You can have the best lyrics in the world. Go ask all these backpack rappers running around here. They got bars upon bars. They got better bars than some of your favorite MCs that sold hundreds of millions of records. But they're not stars. Okay, I know I'm a star.
Starting point is 00:45:32 I think about that often when I see certain people and they used to be writers and they become stars. I said it to them. I said that's a dream. A dream. You don't look like a star. You don't have a face like a superstar. Aneel could write a better record for a Trey Saunders. I think Trey could perform some of the records better. Dream could perform records better.
Starting point is 00:45:47 There are certain visual pleasures. It's the pecking order. That's it. You got ladies out here. Some of them can't sing a lick, but they look the part, and they get to get away with it. But would you feel different if you heard that KD doesn't write his lyrics? Nas doesn't write his lyrics? Wouldn't you feel weird about that? I would feel a certain kind of way. Rak He doesn't write his lyrics. Nas doesn't write his lyrics. Wouldn't you feel weird about that?
Starting point is 00:46:05 I would feel a certain kind of way. Rakim didn't write his lyrics. Wouldn't you feel like... I would feel a certain kind of way, but guess what? It's still Nas that has to deliver the magic. It's still Jay, okay? When he's in the studio working with Pharrell Williams, I'm sure Pharrell said,
Starting point is 00:46:19 y'all, I like that bar, but what if you said, and Jay was like, oh, that's crazy. I'm sure he got into both of those. But that's not really writing for somebody else. Listen, a bar is a bar. That bar could be, listen. What if the bar was allow me to reintroduce myself?
Starting point is 00:46:35 Now, that bar come on, Envy! That bar! Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Ho! What if somebody else came up with that opening line? That is a bar, Envy. There's a difference. Nah, we not talking about a whole song.
Starting point is 00:46:53 If you found out somebody else wrote, allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Ho. How would you feel, Envy? Would you take all your chains back? I ain't got no rock, I don't know how to tell a tale. Envy, would you go turn in your Rolls Royce, Envy? Would you take all your chains back? I ain't got no rock. I don't know where I can find a chain. Envy, would you go turn in your Rolls Royce, Envy? Would you stop playing Jay-Z's record if you found out he didn't write that opening line, Envy?
Starting point is 00:47:15 Keep it real. I would feel a little funny. I don't think Hov would be my favorite artist anymore. But there's a difference between Hov and somebody giving him a ball and somebody saying, Diddy, do this Hov song. I can't believe that you still play Drake 100 miles'm saying... All I'm saying to you is this. Is that proven? It's taboo to believe that none of your favorite
Starting point is 00:47:32 rappers are homosexuals. Wow. What is that? We're going to do the Pray the Gay Away Challenge. No, listen. So make sure y'all watch Star Wednesday night. Listen to what I'm saying. Listen to what I'm saying. Listen.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Listen. Listen to what I'm saying. It's taboo to believe that your favorite rappers has wrote all of their lyrics. It's taboo to believe that all your favorite rappers is actually wearing real diamond chains. It's taboo to believe that all the women in this video is actually theirs. Okay? You got to fake it till you make it. But we're living in a different time right now. We videos are actually theirs. Okay? You got to fake it till you make it. But we're living in a different time right now.
Starting point is 00:48:08 We sure are. True. Okay? So your favorite rapper, male or female, it's unrealistic to assume that your favorite rapper is not gay or homosexual. I'm going to tell you, I had a conversation with my friends the other day and they were like,
Starting point is 00:48:20 I wouldn't be surprised to hear that anybody was gay. Like any rapper would be. Period. And guess what? We had a whole conversation. We started naming people and she was like I wouldn't be surprised to hear that anybody was gay. Like any rapper would be. Period. And guess what? They had a whole contest. We started naming people and she was like, wouldn't be surprised. If you are, live your life and do what makes you happy. They make dope records.
Starting point is 00:48:32 They make dope records. If they make dope records and they're happy and they're personal and business life, live your life. I don't have nothing against anybody who's doing their thing and living their life. I was just, I hit y'all, I caught y'all off guard with that. But I'm just saying, like, it's taboo, man. People need to get over it. People need to get away from these perceptions that they've created in their head. There's no way that my favorite rapper didn't write all of his lyrics on this album that I love.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Your favorite rapper and this style that you love, he has a stylist. Your favorite female star and you love their style, they have a stylist, which means ultimately they're wearing the outfit. But what they're wearing wasn't all of their ideas. It's no different than somebody rapping and borrowing a couple words from somebody else. People got ghost dresses. That's all he's trying to tell you.
Starting point is 00:49:32 I got it. I got it. Remember how mad Tyrese was when he had them shoes on? All right. Hey, man. Get out of here, man. First of all, y'all bringing up some shit that ain't got nothing to do with nothing. I don't appreciate it, man.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Y'all need to chill out. That's the Tyrese Challenge. Cookie Rock and Adidas tracksuit and hard bottom. Hey, y'all, listen. Tell them what Star comes up with. Listen, y'all, I want y'all to know that there's a lot of TV shows out there. Star, I need y'all to give us a shot. Go to Hulu, go to Apple TV, and catch up.
Starting point is 00:50:10 I want you to binge watch and watch all of the episodes that's already been aired. There's a lot of TV shows out there. We need y'all to give us a shot. The show is called Star. It's on Fox. Lee Daniels is the creator, writer. We got Queen Latifah, Benjamin Brad, Naomi Campbell, Lenny Kravitz,
Starting point is 00:50:26 and all of the stars, my man Quincy. Everybody is on the show killing it. I'm on the show. It's my first TV show ever, and I want it to be successful, and we're not successful
Starting point is 00:50:37 without viewers. 9 p.m. on Wednesday, it's going to be the most, they're dubbing this as the most controversial thing that's ever been put on television. Wow. This show is tying into a lot of different things.
Starting point is 00:50:50 And I just want y'all to give us a shot. I love y'all for having me on. This is my favorite show. Black tie. Tyrese. Tyrese. All right. It's the breakfast club when Tyrese comes, man.
Starting point is 00:50:58 I love y'all, man. The Breakfast Club. Good morning to you. Good morning to you. Good morning to you. The Breakfast Club. Well, Waka Flaka is very upset, and I can't blame him, okay? This is a St. Louis radio personality who's on AM radio. His name is Bob Romanek. And he had some nasty things to say about Waka. This all started when Waka was performing, and he ended up wiping his behind with a Trump jersey during a concert.
Starting point is 00:51:43 Now, according to Waka, the only reason he used that was because he was sweaty and gross and somebody handed it to him. He said it didn't matter what type of T-shirt it was. It just happened to be a Trump T-shirt. And here's what Romney had to say on his AM radio show in St. Louis. WACA FLOCCA. He took a good crap on our president-elect shirt. And you think that Trump has done anything to this man?
Starting point is 00:52:04 Trump will probably do more for this black b****** than Obama's ever done for the proud black community. In my opinion, of course. Think about it. We're talking about Waka Flocka, that greasy black b****** son of a b****. But it says you should not flaunt your support for Donald Trump at a Waka Flocka show. Why not? I tell you what, you black bastard.
Starting point is 00:52:24 Let me wear a Trump shirt, thenaka Flocka show. Why not? I tell you what, you black bastard. Let me wear a Trump shirt and you grab it off me. You'll be the deadest son of a bitch walking around. That's right. He dropped the N-word a couple of times. See, you got to understand. And oddly enough, he still has his job. He says he will not quit. And they have not fired him.
Starting point is 00:52:42 And this is an AM radio station in St. Louis. Let's be clear about one thing and one thing for sure. What's that? If you've never in your life heard what a cracker sound like, that's a cracker. That's a cracker-ass cracker right there. Goodness gracious. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:52:58 Like, how is this okay? Now, he says that he was justified in calling him the N-word because Waka Flocka had taken Donald Trump's jersey And used it to wipe his butt And he's been defending this himself And he's saying that Proud white people use the N-word They're patriots exercising their
Starting point is 00:53:16 First Amendment rights No, proud cracker ass crackers use the N-word In that manner He said if you say cracker or honky To a white race, I won't get any heat But let me say N-word in that manner. That seems so... He said if you say cracker or honky to a white race, I won't get any heat. But let me say N-word one time. A black person can use the word, and a white person can't.
Starting point is 00:53:31 How discriminatory is that? I mean... That's his rationale. But when black people use it amongst each other, they're using it as like a term of endearment. I don't use it in that way. I'd be like, boy, stay away from the N-word. But, you know, it's people who do.
Starting point is 00:53:44 So that crack-ass cracker is trying to justify some BS right there. Well, he's been using the word, and he's going to keep on using it, and he used it even more after this. Now, here's how Wacker responded. This show need to get shut the f*** down, period. If this show don't get shut down, let me let you know how far racism go in America. Anybody can get on the radio and say,
Starting point is 00:54:03 black f***er, f***ing black n***er. So if I go get on the radio and say, black nigger. Fucking black nigger. So if I go on my radio interview and say, fuck all Muslim, all black people, fuck this, fuck that, I'm going to go up to his show. I'm going to show you how we handle shit. I'm not going to call the cops. I'm going to go to his show and see if I can get a personal
Starting point is 00:54:20 interview. Let me see if he talk that rah-rah shit when I pull up. Yes, he will. Because he probably is in a state where there's a standing ground law. He got a gut on him. Okay. He said, I'm not going to quit talking and saying what I want until they cut my tongue out and put me six foot under. Who said that? Dominic, yes. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Crazy. I was just disgusted. I'm sorry, but it just really was disturbing. I saw your face, Envy, when you heard it because I guess you hadn't heard it before. No, I couldn't believe he really said it. I said, this is crazy. All right. Charles Oakley has been banned from Madison Square Garden by the Knicks. He's not allowed to come there.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Now, they said it's not necessarily a lifetime ban. They said we need to keep the garden safe for anybody who goes there. And they said, I understand he was a big star, but that doesn't excuse people from that type of behavior. Now, Dolan has also said that Charles Oakley has a problem with anger and he may have a problem with alcohol. We don't know. Charles Oakley's attorney said that they will deal with it in court. And Charles Oakley tweeted out, I love New York City. I love the Knicks. Thank you for all your love. I will be holding a press conference next week. Let's go, Nick. So he said that last week. So I guess this week at some point he is going to hold a press
Starting point is 00:55:23 conference. And Spike Lee was in the Garden when all this went down and he was actually wearing an Oakley jersey just recently and he said, I'm not mad at any of the Knicks that showed up today. I stood up for everybody, gave them love, applauded. I stood up for everybody so I'm happy to see them under better conditions. Yes, but I'm happy to see them regardless, but it just looks
Starting point is 00:55:39 so obvious to me. I don't know. You got to ask the Garden. I'm just happy to see these guys. So Spike Lee is also enraged that Charles Oakley was arrested and taken to jail. Yeah, that was foul. Yeah, very foul. Disgusting. We'll see what happens. And TI has even posted about it, too.
Starting point is 00:55:55 I don't see how anybody would ever want to play for the Knicks organization. After that, that's disgusting. If I was a free agent or somebody traded me to the Knicks, I would not want to play for the New York Knicks. If you see how the organization treats its veterans like that. That's a tough one. Alright, well, I'm Angela Yee and that is your rumor report. Alright, thank you, Miss Yee. Charlemagne, who you giving your donkey to? Listen,
Starting point is 00:56:13 man, I need the Grammy voting committee to come to the front of the congregation. We'd like out of shape. Charlamagne. You are a donkey. It's time for Donkey of the Day. Donkey of the Day does not discriminate. I might not have the song of the day, but I got the donkey of the day. So if you ever feel I need to be a donkey, man, hit me with the heat. It's a breakfast club, bitches.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Who's donkey of the day today? Yes, donkey of the day for Monday, February 13th goes to the Devil Damn Grammy Voting Committee. You know I don't give a damn about no Grammy awards. I tell artists all the time, go where you're celebrated, not where you're tolerated, because it seems like award shows like the Grammys just don't always get it right. Now, I'm only talking about one specific moment from last night,
Starting point is 00:57:01 and that moment came during the Best Album of the Year category, where Beyonce and Adele were nominated. Now, Adele moment came during the Best Album of the Year category where Beyonce and Adele were nominated. Now, Adele won Song of the Year and Record of the Year for Hello over Formation. I personally wasn't mad at that because Hello was a better song than Formation to me. And y'all know I'm a Pinkett Smith, Winfrey Nose Carter, so if I can admit Hello was better than Formation,
Starting point is 00:57:20 then Hello was better than Formation. But we're not just talking about individual records, singles. Okay? I just knew that Beyonce was going to win album of the year because when it came to 25 Adele's album and Lemonade, Beyonce's album as complete bodies of work, wasn't even close. Okay? Not to mention
Starting point is 00:57:37 Adele opened up to Grammys and we know Adele is an amazing vocalist. She's very talented. She makes great music. But on that stage, she is unseasoned chicken. Just a big piece of baked chicken with no seasoning on it. She's very talented. She makes great music, but on that stage, she is unseasoned chicken. Just a big piece of baked chicken with no seasoning on it, okay? Boring. The Tim Duncan of vocalists, alright? Meanwhile, Beyonce performed at the Grammys
Starting point is 00:57:54 last night, and it's crazy how people think she was using special effects and not her own superpowers. When she was leaning back in that chair, that was telekinesis. Okay, all that stuff you saw, you thought was holograms, nope, Beyonce is a telepath like Professor Xavier, and was simply controlling our minds. Don't you ever in your
Starting point is 00:58:10 life disrespect Beyonce's superpowers by calling them special effects, okay? Now, I stayed up until well past 11 on a work night to watch Beyonce win Album of the Year, and all I got to see was Beyonce get robbed, okay? And the very talented, yet boring performer Adele walked away with album of the
Starting point is 00:58:26 year for 25. Now, I don't knock anyone's blessings, especially when it comes to matter of opinion, because that's all the Grammy committee is, a bunch of people casting their opinions. But in this case, they absolutely positively got it wrong. And the Grammy committee should all feel foolish this morning, because even Adele acknowledged
Starting point is 00:58:42 during her acceptance speech and the press conference after the awards that she should not have one album of the year. Let's listen to her acceptance speech. My artist of my life is Beyonce. And this album for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental. Beyonce, it was so monumental and so beautiful and soul-bearing. And we all got to see another side to you that you don't always let us see,
Starting point is 00:59:06 and we appreciate that, and all us artists here adore you. You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves, and I love you. I always have, and I always will. That's how you keep the beehive off your ass.
Starting point is 00:59:25 Drop one of the clues bombs for Adele. She pulled an M&M in 8 Mile. That's how you keep the beehive off your ass. I respect Adele's honesty but I do feel like Adele missed the moment to use her privilege to combat prejudice. We understand Beyonce's music makes your black friends want to stand up for themselves
Starting point is 00:59:41 but I feel like Adele could have said Beyonce's music, Beyonce's messaging makes me want to stand up for themselves. But I feel like Adele could have said, Beyonce's music, Beyonce's messaging makes me want to stand up for my black friends and other black people experiencing racial injustice in America. That's the kind of messaging I would have liked to hear Adele deliver. But we'll discuss that in a second. Let's listen to Adele in the post-press conference, continuing to make the Grammy voter committee look clueless.
Starting point is 01:00:01 The reason I felt the need to say something was my album of the year is Lemonade. She is my icon of my whole life. So I felt the need to do it. Also, I feel like it was her time to win. My view is kind of what the f*** does she have to do to win album of the year. That's also how I feel.
Starting point is 01:00:16 Great question. What more does Beyonce have to do to win album of the year at the Grammys? Right. On this album, she exposed her man's infidelity, stood up for the injustices that black people have been facing, gave you a video
Starting point is 01:00:26 for every song on the album, debuted as a special on HBO, empowered women, and had the majority of the country getting information? All Beyonce's chicken was seasoned to perfection.
Starting point is 01:00:37 Adele 25, on the other hand, not so much. But this isn't a knock to Adele. She's great, except for her stage show. But this is one of those times when the Grammys
Starting point is 01:00:44 absolutely, positively got it wrong and everybody knows it knock to Adele. She's great, except for her stage show. But this is one of those times when the Grammys absolutely, positively got it wrong. And everybody knows it, including Adele herself. When an artist of Adele's caliber breaks her Grammy for Album of the Year in half to give the other half to Beyonce, that's when you know somebody got it wrong. Don't cry for Beyonce, though. When I hear stories like this, I think of a quote. The only permission The only validation
Starting point is 01:01:06 And the only opinion That matters in our quest For greatness Is our own And if anybody knows that It's Blues Mama Beyonce knows Carter Please give the Grammy committee
Starting point is 01:01:14 The biggest hee-haw Oh matter of fact Give them some of the Sweet sounds And the hammer tones And vocals You are the donkey Of the day.
Starting point is 01:01:26 You are the donkey of the day. Yee-haw. All right. Thank you for that donkey today. Now, 800-585-1051, we're asking, how do you feel about
Starting point is 01:01:44 Adele's comments? Which ones? Were you offended by them? The one where she says, you know, Beyonce, my black friends, you stand up for my black friends, make my black friends stand up for themselves. I just told you, I feel like Adele missed a moment to use her privilege to combat prejudice. I feel like she could have said, Beyonce's music makes me want to stand up for my black friends and other black people experiencing racial injustice in America. I mean, of course, Beyonce's music makes her black friends want to stand up for themselves, but does it make you want to stand up for my black friends and other black people experiencing racial injustice in America? I mean, of course, Beyonce's music makes her black friends want to stand up for themselves, but does it make you want to stand up for them?
Starting point is 01:02:10 We ain't only asking you. We're asking everybody. He said, I just answered. 800-585-1051. We want to talk to the people out there. I'm always ready. We're asking, how do you feel about Adele's comments? Were you offended?
Starting point is 01:02:22 Phone lines are wide open. Let's talk about it. 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Tell your friends to get with my friends. That was Big Papa.
Starting point is 01:02:36 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, if you just joined us, we're talking about Adele. She won Album of the Year. And when she won, this is what she said. My artist of my life is Beyonce. And this album for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental.
Starting point is 01:02:57 Beyonce, it was so monumental and so beautiful and soul-bearing. And we all got to see another side to you that you don't always let us see. And we appreciate that. And all us artists here adore you. You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is empowering. And you make them stand up for themselves.
Starting point is 01:03:19 And I love you. I always have. And I always will. So we're asking 805-85-1051. How do you feel about Adele's comments? Were you offended? Let's start with you, Ye. I was a little taken aback.
Starting point is 01:03:30 It was just a weird thing to say because I feel like she should want everybody to feel empowered and she should want that to be just, it should affect everyone, not just your black friends. You know what I'm saying? So that's how I felt. I should want you to do better as a white person knowing everything that's going on with black people. So I just,
Starting point is 01:03:49 but I do feel like she was just a bit awkward. It was just a weird thing to say. Maybe she didn't feel empowered. Maybe she felt like her black friends were empowered and she didn't feel that way. Well, then she's missing it. It should affect you too. And that's exactly what I said. Adele missed the moment to use her privilege to combat prejudice.
Starting point is 01:04:05 I feel like she could have said, Beyonce's music makes me want to stand up for my black friends and other black people experiencing racial injustice in America. You know? And, I mean, you know, when you see, you know, white people in positions of power, they never really say prejudice is whack. Or racist white people are wrong.
Starting point is 01:04:24 You know what I'm saying? Beyonce don't need to make your black friends stand up for themselves. She should make you stand up for us, especially since you claim to love Beyonce so much. Right. Adele. That's all I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:04:35 Well, the black friend thing just sounded a little harsh when she said it, but... That didn't bother me. I mean, how else do you describe your black friends if they're black? Like, you know what I'm saying? What do you say? It's like the racist that says, but I got black friends.
Starting point is 01:04:47 But I'm telling you, I think that Adele was having a rough night. Like, she had tried to do the tribute to George Michael. She ended up messing up. Stank it up. Yeah, so I think she was having an awkward night, and I think that was the awkward moment. No, but what Envy said is real, and that's really the point. It's like, yo, why put it on your black friends? Right.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Like, we know it's a given that Beyonce is going to make black people want to stand up for themselves. But Adele, does it make you want to stand up for black people and the injustices they face? Since you're such a Beyonce fan. Right. Well, let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? This is Justin. Yeah, what you think about Adele's comments?
Starting point is 01:05:21 Well, I thought they was pretty genuine. She ain't careless with the whole situation when they win awards or nothing. And she didn't say posse. I mean, she said black friends. I mean, she came from a good place. All right. Thank you. That would have been so funny.
Starting point is 01:05:37 You make me and my whole posse. Hello, who's this? Hi, good morning. This is Shondrea from Ohio. Hey, Shondrea. What did you think of Adele's this? Hi, good morning. This is Shondrea from Ohio. Hey, Shondrea. What did you think of Adele's comments? Actually, in looking at and reflecting on the comment, it's not necessarily about whether I'm seeking an adage from Adele,
Starting point is 01:05:55 but whether I'm going to have a self-determination in what I'm going to do. So often we are attempting to ensure that our solving these problems, these issues with us as blacks and me, particularly as a woman, is whether someone else can help me. What I look at is what is the self-determination of what I can do for myself. As a result, when she spoke about what Beyonce is helping with her black friends, I don't look at it that way. I look at it, what has my mother, what has my grandmother,
Starting point is 01:06:22 what have people around me who really love me enough to say when I'm right or wrong, what am I doing in order to profess my own self-determination? And so inclusivity and connectivity of us to others should not be about what others will do for us, but what will I do for myself? Are you related to TI?
Starting point is 01:06:39 No, I'm an attorney. You said inclusivity in some other word. I can't remember. She's anated African-American woman. Thank you though, but I do appreciate what she said and I never take anybody's feelings for them because I do also
Starting point is 01:06:53 look at the empathetic nature of what she said. But in actuality, when we sit back and when we look at what others attempt to do for us, and I use the word attempt because we are consistently looking at how everyone else is uplifting us. And I use the word attempt because we are consistently looking at how everyone else is uplifting us. What are we doing to uplift ourselves?
Starting point is 01:07:10 We're doing an excellent job. And I think once we make the decision that we can stand on our own with help, not with the inclusivity, as I said, or the connectivity, as I said, I don't believe that we should have that as our resounding voice. The drivers for us is self-determination.
Starting point is 01:07:33 I agree. Thank you. Thank you, Mama. That was Tory Lanez with Love. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, We Are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:07:43 If you just joined us, we're talking about Adele. She won Album of the Year at the Grammys last night, and she said this as she was receiving her award. My artist of my life is Beyonce, and this album for me, the Lemonade album, was just
Starting point is 01:07:58 so monumental. Beyonce, it was so monumental and so beautiful and soul-bearing. And we all got to see another side to you that you don't always let us see. And we appreciate that. And all us artists here adore you. You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is empowering.
Starting point is 01:08:21 And you make them stand up for themselves. And I love you. I always have. And I always will. So we're asking 805-85-1051, how do you feel about Adele's comments? And I just want to say, let's not forget she was crying earlier in the night. She had a rough night. She didn't plan to speech out. So she might have just said it like, whoop.
Starting point is 01:08:39 Right. Hello? Hey, what's going on? This is Keith from Bayfield, Long Island. Hey, Keith, what do you think about Adele's comments, bro? Honestly, I think I'm fine with it. I feel like the whole fact that she's even white or white-skinned and saying something about the community is enough for me.
Starting point is 01:08:53 I don't need nobody's pity. She didn't say nothing about the community, though. But you know what? She spoke on something. She spoke on something that had to do with black. And she spoke on something that had to do with... Oh, man. You need to stop.
Starting point is 01:09:04 You need to stop with that, man. You need to stop. You need to stop with that, man. You need to stop. We don't need nobody's pity, man. We don't need nobody's pity. I done did a lot of things being black. People saying, oh, we deprived this
Starting point is 01:09:11 because we black. We deprived that for being black. I done been through some obstacles being black and I came out fine. No, listen, I don't want her pity. I don't think she was
Starting point is 01:09:19 showing pity. I just feel like she missed a moment to really use her privilege to combat prejudice. Like, every now and then. Listen, man, we see people stand up for Muslims, LGBT, climate change. But nobody ever really stands up and says racism is wrong.
Starting point is 01:09:34 White people and racist white people need to do better. If you know the messaging of Beyonce's music, Adele, then won't you really stand up and make a stand on your behalf? Not not for what your black friends feel. Hello, who's this? Good morning. This is Dana from Astoria. Hey, Dana, what do you think about Adele's comments? Okay, I think she was genuinely stoked and astonished that she won over Beyonce.
Starting point is 01:09:53 Who wouldn't be? Beyonce is very talented. However, the black friend's comment, I just felt that she was trying to save herself because she didn't want to have to deal with the riffraff of the B-Hive. You already know. You already know. I think she was trying to save herself because she didn't want to have to deal with the riffraff of the beehive you already know you already know however well she's also trying to let some of you us know now is and she had friends that are black so she separated if you wasn't sure it was a black or white thing um she spoke a little too much and i think she sort of revealed it, and slightly revealed herself. I mean, I have white friends. I don't say
Starting point is 01:10:28 well, my white friends, my friends. Right. Okay. She shouldn't have went on color either. But I do think that Beyonce's Lemonade album was very empowering for black people also. So, I understand why she might have
Starting point is 01:10:43 thrown that term out there. I just think she was a little flustered. Right. Well, she felt guilty. That's why she said it, because there was nothing to say. I'm not going to earn an award and all of a sudden my black friends become my black friends. No, my friends. See, I take it for what it is. She might not have meant it.
Starting point is 01:10:57 You know what I mean? She might not have felt that way. Maybe she felt it for her black friends, but she didn't feel empowered for it. And if she didn't feel that way, I don't want to force somebody to stand up for us if they're not honestly feeling that way. But if you listen to the whole statement she said, she said, the way you make me feel, the way you make my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel like they want to stand up for themselves. Right. Like I said, is this the moral of the story?
Starting point is 01:11:18 Yes. Well, the moral of the story is I just feel like Adele missed the moment. And I'll keep saying it to use her privilege to combat prejudice. I feel like she could have said, Beyonce's music makes me want to stand up for my black friends and other black people experiencing racial injustice in America. We see it all the time at these award shows. People stand up for Muslims, LGBT, climate change, but you don't really see white people stand up and say racism is wrong and racist white people need to do better. If you know the messaging of Beyonce's music, Adele, and you know what message Beyonce is trying to convey,
Starting point is 01:11:44 then stand up and say Beyonce's music makes me want to and you know what message Beyonce is trying to convey, then stand up and say, Beyonce's music makes me want to stand up for black people and the injustices they face. Don't just put it on your black friends and what they feel. Alright, well, my black friend, Yee. Half a black friend. We got rumors on the way. Yes, we are going to be
Starting point is 01:11:59 talking about some great news. I'm so excited for this, and it all has to do with Prince. And by the way, let's just talk about Bruno Mars' his incredible Prince tribute last night at the Grammys. I loved it. Okay. We'll get into that when we come back. Keep it locked.
Starting point is 01:12:13 It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Hey, and drop one of Clues Bombs for Tribe Called Quest yesterday too, man. They killed it. They got busy at the Grammys.
Starting point is 01:12:25 They brought out Busta Rhymes. Consequence made it on. got busy at the Grammys. They brought out Busta Rhymes. Consequence made it on. Yep, Consequence made it on. I see Busta Rhymes made a statement. What did he call Donald Trump? The orange... I think we have that. President Agent Orange.
Starting point is 01:12:34 I wonder why they didn't just say his name, though. I wonder if they... Because nobody really said Trump's name like that. I wonder if they told him not to say his name on stage. Well, let's get to the rumors. This is the Rumor report with Angela Yee. Well, since we're talking Grammys, let's talk about the Prince tribute last night. Now, you guys know I love Prince.
Starting point is 01:12:57 I'm a huge Prince fan. And it started with the time. They came out and they did Jungle Love and The Bird. And then Bruno Mars came and did a Prince tribute as well. And I thought it was incredible. All right, check for Bruno Mars. He killed it. That young man is talented.
Starting point is 01:13:44 He is. He killed it. That young man is talented. He is. He's incredibly talented. If you didn't see it, you guys got to go back and watch Bruno Mars. He killed it. Listen, I don't know what he checks on the census, but he is talented. What is his background? He was born in Hawaii. I think he was born and raised in Hawaii.
Starting point is 01:13:58 Okay. He's also part Filipino, something like that. Cool guy, too. Other on the census. All right, the other good news about Prince is starting on Sunday. If you're a big fan of Prince, you can stream most of his music.
Starting point is 01:14:08 19 of his albums now available on iHeartRadio, Spotify, Apple, Pandora, Amazon Prime, everything now.
Starting point is 01:14:15 So for a period of time, Tidal was the only one streaming Prince music. But now if you have any of these streaming services, you can also hear some Prince. I'm so happy
Starting point is 01:14:24 I got to meet Prince at one time in my life. It was brief. And I actually got to go see Prince perform live. That was exciting for me. I saw him float in person. Sure did. I was there. We were all there. He had a cape on. He had a cape on, a purple cape
Starting point is 01:14:39 at six in the morning, floating away. Now, Prince actually used to own property in Turks and Caicos. At one time when I was there, our driver said he drove Prince before. He said Prince told him he wasn't allowed to play any music in the car. He couldn't roll down the windows, couldn't turn on the air conditioner, and couldn't speak. So he said the whole ride, they had to ride in silence, and it was hot, but he couldn't roll down the window, and he couldn't turn on the air
Starting point is 01:15:00 or say a word. And that was Prince's instruction. No, he should have just been breathing in all that air. He was fine with it. He should have enjoyed being in, he should have just been breathing in all that air. He was fine with it. He should have enjoyed being in that rare space and just breathed in that purple air. All right, now let's discuss Nick Cannon.
Starting point is 01:15:12 What is going on here? Now, Nick Cannon had made a joke at one of his stand-ups, right? And he said something about how NBC wasn't making him act differently and show less swagger. And he said that meant they were making him lose his black card.
Starting point is 01:15:26 This was during a stand-up. Little comment. Only thing is that he has a contract with NBC. He can't speak about them without running it by them first. And his joke had executives thinking that he was disparaging to them. So NBC learned about the comment. They learned that it would air during his comedy special on Showtime. And they found out about it because he was promoting on the Howard Stern Show. So now
Starting point is 01:15:46 there's a morning Nick Cannon has posted. I write this from a deeply saddened and dolorous mindset after days of deliberating over some extremely disappointing news that I was being threatened with termination by executives because of a comedy special that was only intended to bring communities closer
Starting point is 01:16:02 together. I was to be punished for a joke. This has weighed heavy on my spirit. It was brought to my attention by my team that NBC believed I was in breach of contract because I had disparaged their brand. So he goes on to say there is no amount worth my dignity or my integrity. I have loved hosting America's Got Talent for the last eight seasons, watching talented, brave and courageous Americans accomplish their dreams in front of millions has been nothing but a joy and everyone has been a pleasure to work with. But my soul won't allow me to be in business
Starting point is 01:16:29 with corporations that attempt to frown on freedom of speech, censor artists, and question cultural choices. So it looks like... So what the hell happened? Are you quitting? Yeah, it looks like he's about to be out of there. He said it's never been about the money.
Starting point is 01:16:41 He said it's difficult to walk away from the fans, the people who love me on the show. This hurts tremendously. Well, Nick Cannon caked up. He got it's never been about the money. He said it's difficult to walk away from the fans, the people who love me on the show. This hurts tremendously. Nick Cannon caked up. He got it. He got it. Nick Cannon caked up. You can walk away from the situation.
Starting point is 01:16:54 Sure can. I don't mind you making a stand. Right. So it's probably also bad for just how you feel. Like we had this great relationship with this network. I thought they were supportive of me. I made a joke. And now, bang, you're starting to find me.
Starting point is 01:17:05 Yeah, and Nick got a lot of other things going on. Just don't quit to be a rapper full-time. You don't need that. Right. Nobody needs that. But maybe in his contract, he should have said, unless it's part of a stand-up or something. I don't know, because if you sign a contract and they say that,
Starting point is 01:17:19 and then you made a joke without running it by them, because if in the contract it says you have to run anything by us, you know. All right, Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. Apparently now they're saying that you really can't fight on the show anymore. So once you sign your paperwork there, you are agreeing not to fight or else there's going to be some very severe penalties
Starting point is 01:17:37 as in they're going to take some money out your check. Why Love & Hip Hop Hollywood? I guess they fight a lot and now there's this clause in the contract and they have to agree not to do that. They said less severe penalties haven't really helped because they're still fighting so now they're saying that there's going to be suspension,
Starting point is 01:17:54 termination, and they're going to take some of your paycheck. It's all downhill for them shows from now on and if Love & Hip Hop ain't got no fighting on it, I don't really see the point of watching Love & Hip Hop. I'm going to watch for the creep squad. Can it exist? That is true. But you know what?
Starting point is 01:18:06 People are probably getting sued because you go on the show, you're in a safe environment and then they get knocked in the head with glasses. Man, that brand is built on fighting. Okay?
Starting point is 01:18:13 Stop it. Like one of the most epic fights was when, who did Chrissy Duff out the first season? I forgot now. I don't remember. Who it was.
Starting point is 01:18:20 But this is Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. That's the same with the whole franchise. I assume this is going to end up trickling down to the whole franchise after this. I don't want to see y'all just eat and talk all the time. Yeah. Nope.
Starting point is 01:18:31 All right. Offset from the Migos got kicked off of a flight. He says it's because he was talking on the phone. Now, he had posted a video. He was going in on American Airlines. He said he was talking on the phone before they took off, and that's why they actually removed him from the flight. He must have been talking mad long,
Starting point is 01:18:47 because they give you about five chances. Yeah, they tell you. Sir, you got to get off. Sir! Geesh! Quavo and takeoff stayed on, by the way. No, they didn't. They did for real?
Starting point is 01:18:57 I would, too. That's fine. How are we all going to get on another flight? No, man, we amigos. Everybody got to leave the plane. No, it's not amigos. Everybody got to leave the plane. Everybody got it's not amigos. Everybody got to leave the plane.
Starting point is 01:19:06 Me amigo, my amigo. All right, but then again, all right? If I'm on a plane, we all on a plane and I'm talking on the phone, they kick me off. Y'all getting off with me?
Starting point is 01:19:13 No. No, but we ain't all amigos. Absolutely not. We're the breakfast club. Breakfast club. It's a difference. It's rare you see
Starting point is 01:19:19 all three of us every time anyway. So that's your dumb ass. We don't be together that much anyway. Now you want to talk on the phone and ruin it? All right, well,
Starting point is 01:19:27 I'm staying on the phone. Now, logically speaking, it's easier for him to just, for Offset to just book his own flight and get on the next one than all of us. But he had to get
Starting point is 01:19:36 on the private jet. Because then now they all got to get off. Now all security, everybody got to get off with us. That don't make any sense. All right, peace, bro.
Starting point is 01:19:43 Right. See you when we get there. I'll get your bags for you when we land. That don't make any sense. All right, peace, bro. Right. See you when we get there. I'll get your bags for you when we land. That's fine. Damn. All right, well, I'm Angela Yee, and that's your rumor report.
