Mostly Human is your playbook for how tech can work for you. Anyone can now be an entrepreneur. Anyone can build an app. And it's very empowering.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Listen to Mostly Human on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your favorite shows. I'm a home girl that knows a little bit about everything and everybody. You hear that exclusive? I don't know if you don't lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot. Hey, y'all, it's Lauren Rosa. And this is another episode. of the latest with Lauren La Rosa.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Disney Daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Now, before we get into the episode, you guys know all of my lowrider community, anyone that's new, welcome, that we
Starting point is 00:03:25 check in behind the scenes of the grind. Today I am feeling very full. I did a girl's night over the weekend with friends for our friend's birthday. And, you know, anytime you link up with friends and you know, the people that really know you for a row and just get a chance to just take a break and just be. It's just such a refreshing thing.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Even if it's for a couple hours, even if it's just dinner, but we got a chance to do dinner. Then we went to the Cardi Bee concert. Yes, I went for a second time. And then, you know, we spend the night at the Cardi concert. with drink and, you know, just having a good time. And I think, you know, what I begin to realize in this adult or adult team phase of my life is that when you can spend time, spend it, it all matters. I think a lot of times I'm always so worried and feeling guilty about what I'm not able to do.
Starting point is 00:04:28 So like the times I'm not able to pull up or not able to make the event or, you know, I don't take the time to just call and check in with everybody. in my life that I love with, you know, the same way. So sometimes, you know, I might hear, you might hear from me very often. Or sometimes you might not hear from me often at all. But when we check in and when we get a chance to lock in, you know, it's all love. But just growing into, like, adult life for real for roo is a very different mental, like, I'm going to say battle.
Starting point is 00:05:03 I don't want to use the word battle, but just experience. because I don't know you just always it's like I'm always trying to rational and I don't even have children so I know it's going to be even worse once I have kids because you know my friends that do have kids my family members that do have kids
Starting point is 00:05:18 that's one thing that I see them doing often or just hear them talk about often it's just the rationale and trying to figure out the balance when to be honest it just seems like in talking to everyone that there's just no real balance possible you just learn how to make things flow but when I say I'm always trying to make things rationale and just, you know, fight this like guilty feeling of not being able to or just, you know, realizing that like there's like certain friends and family members for certain things, times, and reason.
Starting point is 00:05:54 And it doesn't take away from the love that you have for anyone, the place that they're holding your life, the meaning, the value, or anything like that. But I think when you go from, you know, when you go through these different seasons and the areas of your life, you're able to spend more time with certain people. You talk to more people about certain things more. You know, you, y'all just identify differently at different points in times of your life. And there's ebbs and flows. And the majority of my friendships, not even just talking about family, because family is like a lot of my family are my friends as well. but I think family they kind of understand a little bit differently for the most part anyway that they might not hear from you see you and talk to you all the time but like there's no love
Starting point is 00:06:41 loss but it's because they're family so there's an unconditional understanding there sometimes because it's still kind of you know I still get a little guilty and battle with that on the family side too but with friends I think my thing is is like as the ebbs and flows come and go and you know I might not get to see everybody as often or talk to everybody as often. Just trying to be intentional with the time that I had by also battling with the, like, I want everyone to know, like, yo, I love you. I am here for you. Call me if you need me, but things just change. Like, though the barriers to entry change and not because you put them up at all.
Starting point is 00:07:22 But I feel like, you know, just as we get grown and as we grow older and we, you know, start to. experience different things in our lives and people have different accomplishments and even different failures. I think we kind of do it to ourselves. Like, and I always remember this, like, quote, I don't know if it was JD that said it or not, but I just always remember this whenever I'm thinking through these type of situations or these type of thought. You know, it was said that when things start to like change for you, like as you accomplish certain things or just, you know, like, it's not even about accomplishments. It's just like, you know, when you're set and you're focused and you're, shoot, breaking
Starting point is 00:08:07 chains and trying to like, you know, redo what the circle of life looks like in the barriers and the boundaries, all the things that your family has faced. You're trying to reroute that in a real way and break these chains and change the way and the different, you know, things that have been put on your family, right? it's not that you're going to change toward the people around you, but they'll change because of how they perceive what you no longer can do, what you're no longer interested in, the time that you no longer have.
Starting point is 00:08:39 And that's been so real for me in my, like, journey. That's been kind of one of the personal battles that I've, like, I feel like I do it quietly because I do try and show up for everybody. But I feel like that's one of my, like, quiet battles. It's like, I'm always like, oh my God, I hope that this person doesn't feel like, you know, I don't love or support them. Because it's certain things I don't want to do anymore, certain places I don't want to show up to anymore. Certain things I just, even if I want to do or want to show up, I physically don't have the time to. And spending time with friends this weekend just kind of made me feel a little bit better about there's nothing I can do about that.
Starting point is 00:09:22 I do as much as I can with who I can and how I can. And I value those moments so much. So I don't want to focus on the guilt that I feel sometimes. And I'm not able to do it with everybody. I want to focus on like the fulfillment and the joy. And just the just the reminder that like just being is a wing. Like just being able to get up, have fun, laugh, joke, eat good. But that is a win.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Just being is a win with everything that you focus on and you face and you figuring out on the day to day. Like, but this weekend going to the concert, you know, I talked to you guys on a previous episode. Let me sure you check that out about heading to the concert with the breakfast club. But going with friends, making it a girl's night, just really made me okay with the fact that like I can be all things, but like I'm only one person. and the growth that I'm experiencing in life right now and the growth that I'm watching my friends experience and the fact that like it makes us distant from each other sometimes because I have friends too that are like, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:36 going through their own things whether it's positive or negative and whether they mean to or not, it makes them distant. And for me, I always try and give empathy and like never think about it like a oh, something has to be wrong thing. I think about it like, okay, shoot, when I'm in that same predicament, what is my focus? What is my why? What do I have time for? What am I trying to fight noise-wise?
Starting point is 00:11:01 So I don't ever hold it on anybody. But, yeah, like this weekend, I just, I really just had a conversation today that kind of, to sum this up, that kind of helped me put that. It's not like a survivor's guilt. I'm going to say that because I think everybody is surviving in their own way. It's just, I don't know how to do. describe it is when things when you start growing and your interest and you know what you your focuses are start changing and just what you want to get to right so maybe i haven't fully accomplished everything maybe i haven't fully established like you know the life i want but i see what it is i need
Starting point is 00:11:39 to do in order to do that so i'm you know adjusting in real time my friends came in here laughing this weekend because i posted a book that i was reading on friday night and my friends was like you were reading a book he was in the house reading a book on a friday night and i was in the house reading a book on a Friday night and I was like, yes, y'all, people. And they thought it was so funny. But that is like the physical representation of what I'm trying to say. It's like, as I'm growing and I'm changing and I'm involving, the things that I'm allowing into my like view.
Starting point is 00:12:07 So like what I'm listening to, what I'm watching, you know, what my activities are. Those things are changing as well too. And because of that, it changes kind of like, you know, what I'm around and what I'm experiencing and what I'm allowing myself to experience. And yeah, I felt guilty for that for some time, for a very long time up until this weekend. And I don't know what it was about this weekend that made me rethink that guilt. Not that I'm not going to still feel guilty about not being able to spend as much time and do as much with friends and family.
Starting point is 00:12:38 But like, it just made me rethink about how much pressure I put on myself in that guilt. Like, you're doing the best you can't sleep. And that is all you can do. And that is fine. there's nothing else that you can do to change the fact that you are growing and blossoming and it's making you reprioritize things and people so that's how i'm feeling behind the scenes of the ground and that feeling kind of helps me get to like a more complete like you know i can kind of turn off that part of my brain that like guilt part of my brain that i mean into
Starting point is 00:13:11 very often that distracts me from things i can i feel like going into this week i can turn that off at least until i feel guilty about not being able to do something again But, you know, I think that was God, though, because that was beginning to peek back into my focus and my conscience a lot, especially when it comes to, like, family, like my mom and my grandmother. And what I'm able to do and not able to just physically time rise with them at this point in my life and, you know, be having a focus on, you know, work right now. I'm a lot and trying to find that balance. So, yeah, that was my weekend. And credit to be brought out 30-wile. So we're going to talk about that.
Starting point is 00:13:48 And the latest, let's get on into it. You know, experience Bruton Mars live in Toronto. IHard Radio wants to send you and a friend with flights from TripCentral.C.A. Two nights at Sheridan Center, Toronto. Tickets to Bruno Mars and $1,000 cash. Don't believe me, just watch. Download the free IHard Radio app. Listen to IHart new music for 10 minutes.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Win your way to Bruton Mars. Will you be there? Every day you listen is another chance to win. You know Roll Doll. The writer who thought up Willie Wonka, Matilda, and the BFG. But did you know he was also a spy? Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Our new podcast series, The Secret World of Roll Doll, is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life. His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans. What? And he was really good at it. You probably won't believe it either. Okay, I don't think that's true. I'm telling you.
Starting point is 00:14:49 I was a spy. Did you know Doll got cozy with the role? Roosevelt's, played poker with Harry Truman, and had a long affair with a Congresswoman. And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock, before writing a hit James Bond film. How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids. The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Listen to the secret world of Roll Dahl on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Five, City Hall building. A silver 40-caliber handgun was recovered at the scene. From I-Heart podcasts and Best Case Studios, this is Worshack, murder at City Hall. How could this have happened in City Hall? Somebody tell me that. July 2003, Councilman James E. Davis arrives at New York City Hall with a guest. Both men are carrying concealed weapons.
Starting point is 00:15:51 And in less than 30 minutes, both of them will be dead. about everybody in the chambers ducts a shocking public murder I scream get down get down those are shots those are shots get down a charismatic politician you know he just bent the rules all the time I still have a weapon
Starting point is 00:16:13 and I could shoot you and an outsider with a secret he alleged he was a victim of flat down that may or may not have been political that may have been about sex listen to Rorschach murder at City Hall on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If you're trying to keep up with everything happening on and off the court, we've got you covered on the podcast, flagrant and funny.
Starting point is 00:16:42 You look at the top four number one seeds. What do you think UCLA is going to do? Break down that for me, my friend. Obviously, Yukon is the overwhelming favorite in this tournament. But I'll be honest, I think people are kind of sleeping on Texas. Experts are suggesting that UCLA is the number one challenger to Yukon and that right after that would be Texas. S&C is so deep and so thick and just about everything. It really is annoying.
Starting point is 00:17:09 So it's UCLA, Texas, South Carolina, LSU. Only ones that could possibly upset Yukon. On Flagrant and Funny, we're giving our unfiltered takes on the biggest moments of the conversations everyone's having. So whether your bracket is busted or you just want the latest on the tournament, we got you. Listen to Flakron and Funny with Kerry Champion and Jamel. on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. In 2023, former bachelor star Clayton Eckerd found himself at the center of a paternity scandal. The family court hearings that followed revealed glaring inconsistencies in her story. This began a years-long court battle to prove the truth. You doctored this particular test twice in someone, correct? I doctored the test ones. It took an army of internet detectives to crack the case. I wanted people to be able to see what their tax dollars were being used for.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Sunlight's the greatest disinfectant. They would uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing. Greg Lesbian and Michael Marantini. My mind was blown. I'm Stephanie Young. This is Love Trap. Laura, Scottsdale Police.
Starting point is 00:18:21 As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences. Ladies and gentlemen, breaking news at Americopa County as Laura Owens has been indicted on fraud charges. This isn't over until justice is served in Arizona. Listen to Love Trapped podcast on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Chili from TLC is under hot water right now. So there was some recent donation, not recent, I'm sorry, there were some donations from 2020. that surfaced that Chile donated the political donations to some organizations. Now, these organizations are linked to Donald Trump in various ways.
Starting point is 00:19:08 So in 2024, Chile donated a total of $900 to three different organizations. And the reporting of this has sparked so much backlash that she has actually had to come out and clarify something and defend herself and not even really just defend, but honestly just try and make some sense of what we are seeing, you know, via the news and where are you ones attention is being skewed to right now. Now, in addition to these donations,
Starting point is 00:19:38 reporting has also brought up the fact that she, Chile, had retweeted something on Instagram that was a misinformation-based post about a negative one about Michelle Obama. Now, let's get into the donations. And then I'll let you guys hear from Chile herself. So there was a total of $900 over a series of donations donated to three organizations that are linked to Trump.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Now, one of the donations was Winred. Winred is a payment processor for Republican campaign donations. They also serve as a payment processor or a payment foundation for nonprofits and things of that nature on the Republican side. It's a counter to act blue, which was the same thing, but on the Democratic side. And Chile donated, you know, money a few times over or throughout 2024 to this organization. She also, according to the FEC's official government website, donated to Trump National Committee, JFC. and she also donated money to never surrender a aunt, which is the leadership
Starting point is 00:20:51 political action committee or PAC that has been closely associated with Donald Trump. So it used to actually be known as his 2024 presidential campaign. It was known as Trump for president, 2024 up until about 2022, 23, 2024. I believe it doesn't give me an exact date, but it would make sense that it stopped,
Starting point is 00:21:14 that the names converted in 2020. 24 after the July assassination attempt where he was speaking in Pennsylvania because the never surrender became like the echoing sound for Trump during that time after that shooting happened. Now, of course, in finding this out, people are upset. People are very upset with Chile. They are now associating her with MAGA. They are questioning her support, you know, of Donald Trump. And again, all of this is happening or. being reported while reports are also focusing on the fact that she had retweeted, kind of like a conspiracy theory thing that talked about Michelle Obama allegedly identifying as a man on
Starting point is 00:22:03 previous voting records. Now, this conspiracy theory has been debunked so many times by official voter registration records of Michelle Obama's. This is completely false. But Chili's Instagram page, her retweeted it, and then went back in unretweeted it on Instagram. Now, let's hear from Chile because Chile is saying that her donations
Starting point is 00:22:28 were for organizations that supported things that she believed in, not Donald Trump, but for causes for people, and that she fixed this Michelle Obama retweet once she noticed it. Let's take it. Let me say this first. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama, and I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman. I would never do that.
Starting point is 00:22:52 And I had no clue that this repost had happened until I started getting phone calls and text messages from everybody and I immediately went to my page to see what was going on. Now mind you, I'm not very computer savvy so I'm looking for this repost button and I see that all of them, all of these buttons are very very close to each of other. And clearly I was scrolling and my thumb hit the repost button. I took that down and, you know, I would never post anything like that. I would never do something like that. That is not my character. I have supported the Obamas. I gave to the campaign both runs, voted twice for him and supported the organization that Michelle had in the schools for exercise for the kids.
Starting point is 00:23:46 do anything that's harmful or hateful to anybody. Now, what I will say on the organization side, via the FEC's website, you can see that Chili's donations are linked to these organizations, right? But you can't see what the actual funnel into the donation was, right? So I've reached out to a press contact for the FEC. I want to be given Chili's publicists a call back I texted and called them
Starting point is 00:24:18 We were talking yesterday And when I Sorry not yesterday you tell her We were talking over the weekend I was literally headed into the Cardi B concert As this news was breaking And at that time Chili was really upset
Starting point is 00:24:31 She was like really really upset Because of the conversation That this sparks And the fact that she wants people to know That she is not a Trump supporter she is not MAGA. She was solely donating on organizations that she believed
Starting point is 00:24:46 were going to help people in relation to veterans and human trafficking because of her own personal, you know, just things that she wants to see better in society. That's why I want to know exactly what the organization was that she donated to. So I can see on its
Starting point is 00:25:01 face, does it represent as something connected to Trump? I mean, at this point, all you can do is take Chile for her word and take her for what we've known her for. And I know like back in 2017, people were upset with Chile because she had made like an All Lives Matter comment. But to be clear, she cleared that up and saying it was no way meant to down Black Lives Matter. She just, you know, was trying to be a human.
Starting point is 00:25:27 But she understood the like, she understood the difference between All Lives Matter and Black Lives Matter. She was not trying to denote or downplay Black Lives Matter. And saying that, and she understood why people were upset at her comments then and she clarified it. but she has been vocal previously about, you know, not supporting anything Donald Trump-related. I'm also told by her team, like she said in the video, that she had actually reached out and tried to closely work with Michelle Obama along her campaign, along Barack Obama's campaign route, and just some of the things that Michelle Obama had done. So I'm right now waiting to get back on the phone with them to try and develop this out more.
Starting point is 00:26:04 And I've reached out to the FBC because if I can find out exactly what those organizations were, I think it'll clear up a lot of this for her. But again, at this point, all we have is was president on face value. And you guys might wonder, well, why even we'll get the organization's names? Like, if you can clearly see that on the back end, they are connected to Trump. She should have been able to clearly see that. And the only reason why I say that is because there could be an organization, you know, called, I hate human trafficking, that their ads solely, you know, just talk about how
Starting point is 00:26:39 bad human trafficking is, the numbers on, you know, how kids are being trafficked and, you know, all of that without directly claiming their affiliation or allegiance to MAGA or to any Republican party whatsoever. And that could have been the commercial or the ad that got Chile to a point where she wanted to donate and put her card on auto pay to continue to support something. Now, these are, you know, donations from 2024. So these are donations from years ago. So trying to backtrack that is going to take some time. And I am here to do it because I think if anybody should be able to track it back, you know, maybe her from her side, I'm thinking like, you know, bank records or something like that.
Starting point is 00:27:25 But they did it's from two years ago, but it's possible. But also on the FEC side, they should be able to see kind of what the funneling in link was. Like where does she apply a credit card? What was the website? What was the name of an organization? and then I can kind of take it from there. So, you know, we'll see. I know right now, though people are so upset,
Starting point is 00:27:44 they're talking about not going to see TLC on tour because TLC is currently on tour with InVogue and Salt and Pepper. And that was just announced recently, like literally, just announced recently. And, yeah, now it's iconic tour. And now people are having these conversations and talking about not buying tickets.
Starting point is 00:28:09 So I saw Salt of Salt and Pepper come out in support of Chili. So Salt said, Chili, please keep your pretty head all the way up, sister. This world is very quick to believe anything and everything posted on social media, quick to crucify and slowly and slow to forgive. Even when you straighten it out, haters will always hate. We know you and we know your heart.
Starting point is 00:28:31 I truly play that you don't shed not one tear or lose not one minute of sleep or peace over any of this. got you and any threat of not coming to the show from anyone will not stop us from loving on you and supporting you as a person and your legacy and music this is the type of bullying we as people have to stand up to whoever comes to see us great whoever doesn't will miss something special powerful sisters coming together positive vibes only continue to let your light shine queen now like i told you guys when i talked to um chili's rut last night as i was headed into the concert um and even today uh she has shot me a voice note and in the voice notes she made it very
Starting point is 00:29:07 clear like chili was very very very upset like she was super upset by all of this and just the way that you know people will just like quickly turn the conversation on her um so i'm just hoping to be able to provide some clarity so there will be a follow-up report on this so you guys stay locked um into the latest and i mean as much as i can get i provide and we'll see what happens i mean they're set to go out on the score August 15th of tennessee and then they'll hit uh chicago Atlanta, Phoenix, Las Vegas. Like, you know, I know they just did the I Heart Music Awards at an ensemble performance to promote the tour as well.
Starting point is 00:29:41 So look, I'm going to go to the door. But, man, I think it's just crazy. Like, I understand people wanting to be upset. But first of all, I feel like people need to understand, like, $900. Do you know how much money people get? They give millions and millions of dollars to these political campaigns
Starting point is 00:30:00 that they really try to support something to force a candidate on the people. Like, and again, I don't have any additional information to what I've given you, so I also understand people being upset, even if it's $900. But I'm like, yo, Elon Musk gave so much money to Donald Trump in his campaign and then went and became a part of his, like, one of his advisory board. And people, I mean, I'm people. We're still on Twitter or X or whatever you want to call it. People still buying cyber trucks. And then there's a pushback up like, okay, well, people.
Starting point is 00:30:34 throw eggs at cyber trucks and you got people turning in their cyber trucks that don't want to support it. It's not happening in masses enough where Elon Musk is out of her hurting. But people are in it's a viral and trending conversation that people are backing out of this tour already.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Like I just think it's Craig's like we always want to yell that we don't have power and people don't listen and we don't know how to get together and we talk about communities that do know how to get together and do know how to cancel. But I feel like we do have power or we do amplify things. Like we make stuff go,
Starting point is 00:31:07 but we pick and choose what we do it around and how we do it and where we extend grace and where we turn another cheap because, I mean, there are so many brands that we still support. Like, I wear Belantiaga.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Gucci. People have had issues with ticket masks of themselves and price gouging and, you know, how that affects, you know, people that, the trickle down, right? Like, people that can't afford
Starting point is 00:31:30 certain things. How it's unfair? Like, there's so much stuff we still support. But then, like, We rally behind things that, like, I feel like even if on, even if we do more digging and we find out, and again, this is nothing that I know for certain that we find out whatever, right? Maybe you choose not to believe chilly, right?
Starting point is 00:31:48 But even if that is the case, it's like, why are we like indefinite when it comes to, like, us, but, like, not indefinite when it comes to people who don't look like us who have way more power and control over the things that y'all are upset about? Eli Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, you know, all these people, they literally sat at Trump's inauguration and like welcomed him into the White House. Like, I don't know, maybe I'm just making a lot of noise about nothing over here. But I just, when I saw the report, I knew that it was going to be a thing because it's chilly and because it's Trump.
Starting point is 00:32:22 But I also thought that like it would be something that like people would be upset about, they tweet about it, and then, okay, but no, I'm seeing so much conversation. about support or lack they're of for this tour now because of it. You know Roaldahl, the writer who thought up Willie Wonka, Matilda, and the BFG. But did you know he was also a spy? Was this before he wrote his stories?
Starting point is 00:33:16 It must have been. Our new podcast series, The Secret World of Roll Doll, is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life. His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans. What? And he was really good at it. You probably won't believe. it either. Okay, I don't think that's true. I'm telling you. I was a spy. Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelt's, played poker with Harry Truman, and had a long affair with a congresswoman.
Starting point is 00:33:43 And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock, before writing a hit James Bond film. How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids. Starting point is 00:34:13 You look at the top four number one seeds.
Starting point is 00:34:39 It really is annoying. So it's UCLA, Texas, South Carolina, LSU. Only ones that could possibly upset Yukon. On Flagrant and Funny, we're giving our unfiltered takes on the biggest moments of the conversations everyone's having. So whether your bracket is busted or you just want the latest on the tournament, we got you. Listen to Flakron and Funny with Kerry Champion and Jamel Hill

Like the people around us were going so crazy when he came out.
