I'm a home guy that knows a little bit about everything and everybody.
You don't know if you're going to lie about that, right?
Lauren came in hot.

that shake the room, baby.
Now, y'all know we always kick off the latest with Lauren the Rosa checking in behind the scenes
of the grind.
Let's get to it, y'all.
Back on the grind.
All right, y'all, so we, I mean, look, we, we.
You've been ripping and running throughout fashion week and doing the things, doing the things.
But let me tell y'all something.
But I feel like I tell y'all that every single time.
But this time, I think you guys will believe it because guess what I did y'all?
I'm at Jay-Z and Beyonce.
You probably heard me talk a bit about this by now because I've been talking about it everywhere you can hear this voice.
But I don't care.
I mean, look, let me see.
I am T minus two days, 48 hours removed.
from me meeting Beyonce and Jay-Z.
And I don't even think it's like the, oh my God, the celebrity of it for me.
I think, you know, I had one of my home girls text, one of our group chats.
And she was asking me, like, you know, she was like, how do you feel?
And I was like, I feel regular.
Like, I mean, they were mad, cool, super regular, very, like, human down to earth.
Like, you just felt the good energy and you felt that like they were, it was like,
surrounded by family.
It was all the things, right?
And that was really good to see, especially at that height of.
career because I'm always so worried about like yo how am I going to continue to figure all of this
out with balance and family and the fact that I love being with my family being surrounded by
my family but also just the responsibility that comes with having family getting older and making
sure they straight I know you know you only see people's lives and a glimpse especially first time
meeting them and it's Beyonce and JZ and resources resources are endless but looking at them made me feel like
girl it's in you it ain't on you like you are fine the folks will be fine if everybody will be fine
yesterday i actually had a very like challenging day only because i feel like i'm getting ready
and gearing up to go to and i'll tell you all why i'm telling you guys i will tell you guys why
i'm telling you this um in extension to me talking about me and j z and biont and seeing kind of that
element of them being there enjoying our time with the family right
I'm gearing up to go to the IHeart Radio Music Festival.
It's in Vegas this weekend, September 18th through the 20th.
And it's work, you know, while there.
And I know that because I'll be working while there and I'll be away from things.
And I'm still prep that goes into that.
Like, you got to, you know, figure out what your itinerary is, what you're doing, all the stuff.
And I have another opportunity that I'm flying out for L.A. to do literally.
By the time you listen to this podcast, I'm from.
probably already on that flight. So I'm going to L.A. I'll be in L.A. I'm still working while there.
So prepping stories and watching, you know, all the things to be ready for the breakfast club.
We also have the podcast. I also have my, you know, my personal brand and I have things that I am
developing outside of just entertainment in general as well, too, now that, you know, I've been
blessed to be in a position to be able to do so. It's a lot to have on the plate. One of my biggest
things that I'm always trying to figure out is like, how do you, I mean, I don't think you balance everything,
but how do you make everything flow together?
And I know I'm early in the faces, the places, the faces and the stages of all of this stuff.
But that has always been very important to me because I know that it's needed as far as I just creating a financial foundation for myself.
But also, you know, personal interests and things that I like outside of the world of entertainment.
I want to be able to sustain and do as my breathers.
And you just need it.
Like I'm not a one-dimensional person.
but one of my homegirls she was asking me like you know how I feel and I was like to be
honest with you I feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be and it took me a while in all
of this if I'm being honest to feel like that not that I didn't feel like I wasn't deserving
not that I didn't know that I work hard not that any of that I think it was the thing of
if I always have felt like if I lean too much in I'm exactly where I'm supposed to
supposed to be I'm here will that distract me from the work will that you know change my work
ethic and my ability to like push through and follow through because right now I'm in such a
season of like I ain't got no choice we got to run this up like this season is personally dedicated
to the grind and I've always that's just always in my thing it's like I don't want to get that
too much in my mind because I don't want to get comfortable and complacent.
so no you I mean you're here but like you are not here yet and I think that that's a twofold
mindset I think on one end of the spectrum that mindset does continue to motivate you it does make
sure that you don't get complacent because you can I'm nowhere near where I want to be I'm nowhere near
being able to do the things I want to do I'm nowhere near some just being able to put out into the
world, all of the things that I know that God is putting me to put out. But sometimes when you've
been fighting just to create your own sense of stability and comfort, and you finally feel like,
okay, you know, I can, and it's different because I've had jobs now, right? Like, I've had really,
really great jobs prior to this. Like, I've worked in everything from, you know, flying in the skies
with Delta to, you know, corporate banking in the philanthropy arm there at Barclay. Like, I've done a lot of
things. So it wasn't about like a money number. Like I was making really good money coming out of
college, but I chose to not to step away from Barclay Card and go to LA and give tours around
Hollywood because my thing has always been, I don't just want to be like comfortable and being
able to do all these things. I want to be happy as well. So when I say I don't want to get complacent
and feel too comfortable, it's because I'm really happy right now. And even that like y'all hear how long
it took me to say that it's like I'm scared that if I if I live in the moment and and lean into
the happiness and understand that like all this stuff is going to work out because it always has
I'm a trip myself up because there's this this is the other side of the coin is there's this
mental thing about the scarcity like it if it's all going today what happens tomorrow
if this happiness you feel right now isn't continued you know
You know what I mean? Things happen in business and career ups downs, all that.
But I mean, like, I'm always thinking, like, if I wake up tomorrow and, like, there is no more any of this, what is, what does that feel like?
And what I was watching and learning from Jay Z and Beyonce and Rotana is that none of my thought process about myself, my, I'm here moment.
And it's not like I arrive, like a diva thing.
It's really like, it's okay for me to enjoy what I've worked for and for me to be confident about and trust God about what's coming next.
because none of that stuff and none of the feeling that gets me to those feelings
should be predicated on anything but look around you you got your people with you
god is doing amazing things in your life period and that's what you feel you know in a room
like that and don't get me wrong i mean i haven't been in all of the rooms but you know i've met
and interacted with some people where it's like the success is there the money is there but
something still feels empty.
There wasn't an empty feeling in that room.
It felt like,
like I felt like I was at my family's get together.
And I think, you know,
when you interact with people
and those type of feelings
and, you know, levels of comfort
and welcomeness hit you,
it's because those people
who are curating that space.
You know how people talk about spirit of discernment.
It's like you can sense and you can feel
when you can tell.
Like, you can sense and you can feel
when you can tell that Jay-Z, Beyonce,
and the people they keep around them, whether it's professionally or personally,
are people who know that, like, this is, it's so much deeper than how well can I perform
in business.
It's like, who are you as a person?
And what cloth do you are you cut from?
And what's the company you keep?
Because I'm very particular by mine, so what yours look like?
And knowing all of that, everything else works out.
If family is a priority for you, that will work out because people around you will know
and understand that.
And God will allow that to keep happening.
because those are the people that that's those are the people in business that you're going to bring
around you and even if they don't fully understand it it's not too far too few far in between
where they empathize with it even if they don't fully understand it because it's not their
actual situation so you know meeting jz and biance for me in experiencing you know j and eight
the documentary that dropped september 18th on h p o max was so much more of like a spiritual
motivator. Like, yes, career and business, but like that is going to happen when you're standing
next to billions, okay? But just some of the conversations I was able to have in the room and the
feeling that the room felt and watching, you know, these billionaires prioritizing family and
real storytelling and substance and their people, people that they've been rocking with for
decades at a time and everybody's, you know, lockstep in a line. I mean, that was, that was
different. That is like my dream. Like, I got my people with me. We got our financial success.
We also mentally have been successful at keeping our head on our shoulders and understanding
what's important. And, you know, I said it because not that I think, I think level-headedness
is, it's really in you, it's not on you. It really determines the people.
people in the cloth that you come from.
But I think sometimes in this business that I am in,
dealing with like the different relationships I have to build.
And people, it's like I can't always expect me from other people.
And my prayer to God always as I figure out movement and change in new people
and new places and new things is that even if I can't expect me out of the people I
will interact with, I ask God to number one, protect me in those situations.
protect my intentions and because sometimes I still got to be transactional in those you know what I mean
protect the journey to the goal um is what I ask God but I also ask God to like bring more people like
that into my life and let me see it at a level of like like I don't believe all people with
money and success and people have this capitalism conversation especially when it comes to Jay-Z
I don't believe all of them are bad people I don't buy it I don't I think capitalism
if used the right way to benefit the right people
people could help all of us.
And I understand people's gripes and issues with it.
But I got to experience a moment with this family and see that at the end of the day,
all of that stuff is like moving variables, the money, the career, the performances,
the albums.
But what's in you is in you no matter where you go.
Now that leads us on into the latest.
Let's get into it.

Welcome to Decoding Women's Health.
I'm Dr. Elizabeth Pointer, chair of women's health and gynecology at the Atria Health Institute in New York City.
On this show, I'll be talking to top researchers and top clinicians, asking them your burning questions and bringing that information about women's health and midlife directly to you.
A hundred percent of women go through menopause.
It can be such a struggle for our quality of life, but even if it's natural, why should we suffer through it?
The types of symptoms that people talk about is forgetting everything.
I never used to forget things.
They're concerned that, one, they have dementia.
And the other one is, do I have ADHD?
There is unprecedented promise with regard to cannabis and cannabinoids,
to sleep better, to have less pain, to have better mood,
and also to have better day-to-day life.

So speaking of, Jay-Z, he was on the carpet for the Jay-Z-N-8 documentary.
it's an eight-part series.
There'll be, you know, episodes dropping weekly.
And the first two episodes drop on Friday, September 18th.
Now, this is, you know, he's in live conversations with Rick Rubin, who he's done, you know, tons of music and art.
Not art, like, actually painting, but he's done, you know, tons of things with, they've had,
they've had such a creative relationship.
So, you know, the way that this docu-series is set up is that they take music from Jay's career.
and in real time you're watching Jay-Z.
It's great because you're in real time watching Jay-Z break down.
His mental process then at the time the art was created,
where it has evolved to now and everything in between?
After dealing with like, you know, the conversations once,
because, you know, once you put a song out there,
especially like a song like a 4-4-4, right,
where he's talking about not being faithful in his relationship
and having it talking to his daughter about that
and being lucky, Beyonce, you know,
to me was the woman she was to see the man that he was becoming and not the man he was in the
moment um having to deal with all of the conversation around putting out a song like that or a project
where he's very vulnerable um which he's done for his you know he's done that for his
damn their entire career um just the reflection of it was interesting to watch and in real time
you're watching j z reflect and be very honest uh he you know admittedly says
some of the songs specifically 4-4-4,
but I'm sure there are going to be others in here.
He hadn't really sat and listened to and dealt with again
since putting them out.
There was one song at Jay-Z that they brought in
because we watched a mixture of the first episode
and the third episode.
It was about like 30 to 40 minutes long
that we sat in the,
it was at the Metropolitan Opera here in New York.
And, I mean, even that experience was crazy.
like Jay-Z and Beyonce literally sitting right behind you as you watching him open up about his most vulnerable moments in his life, which also include Beyonce.
But he talked about how, you know, even over time, like just maturing in his business and, you know, his voice as an artist, there'd be a little bit more heads up with people and things about certain things because there would be things that he would put into music that he didn't want to, like, really, like, talk about after the music.
So there was a song that he released earlier in his career about his mom.
him and his mom had a conversation and she was like
certain things was like more she felt like it was more her story to tell
and he says even when he did like later songs in his career
like at that point he's like kind of like talking things out with her
like and letting her you know
like kind of approve things before they go like when he did
smile in 2017 and y'all know that there is that poem
that is featured from his mother miss gloria right
he says that at first he gave her the song and the poem wasn't on there but he actually had to like like she she wrote the poem while flying to him as kind of like a yes or an okay and approval that the song could go out it's just dope like it really gets into like maturity and maturing and just understanding that like where you start is nowhere near where you finish like at all it's it's so vulnerable as well um it's vulnerable it's it's reflective
I think
I think it's going to get a bit controversial
I think
I'm I'm I
from what I can see
or from what I can understand
I don't see why it wouldn't go into
some of the
you know I think the Kanye conversation
is going to come up in this as well
yeah it's going to be all of that
on the carpet on the way to the premiere
Jay Z is stopped
and he has asked about
you know of all of his career
the people or the person that he you know of everybody he's mentored all the people he signed
who it is that he is like most proud of or that like stands out to him and he mentions
Rihanna let's take a listen this is jZ talking to art and from foreside company
you've been able to mentor a lot of athletes and musicians looking back which one stick out
in stillie and why wow wow well we're looking at the studio tonight so it's like the interview
I would say, no, because I'm a guy.
I'm a kid, Your Honor.
You are always things to the life.
He has a preference of the family.
I didn't want to know if she rides hard.
That way we ride for her.
More than a lot of these guys, you know.
A lot of these guys are turn on you, you know,
and you change their life and they forget really quickly.
And she's just always been, like, super solid and steady the whole way.
Let me tell you something, okay?
Your ROI on black women will never disappoint you.
period. I think there is a camaraderie that happens between amongst men as well, but I can only
speak for myself. I think especially like if you're a person that has changed my life in any way,
not even that it has to be transactional like that. I just think as a black woman, when I set out
to do something, I am so gung-a-ho on doing that and doing it until I can't do it anymore
because there's this thing that we're taught young. I don't.
even know if it's intentionally meaning to spill over into our career but we're talking young just
about being a woman and you know taking care of a household and when i say taking care of a household
i mean whether you're single or married you know being able to cook clean and keep a household
you're taught that consistency matters repetition matters with something it's if something ain't
broke you don't fix it um and that who you bring into your home and in and in and in and
into your atmosphere and allow yourself to nurture should really, really matter.
I remember my mom I used to always tell me, you know, my body is a temple and not to run
and jump so fast to commit myself long term to people, whether it's like, I used to always
be like, my best friend for life.
And she'd be like, girl, you was only 13 years old.
What you know about the best friend for life?
Like don't enjoy your friendship that you have with this person now, but don't run and jump
to commit yourself for life because you never know who people will be.
find out who people are and then commit because when you commit that's that's all you got and I think
you know it speaks to that it's like for me I just I think that there is I've gotten the best results in
my life when both personal business whatever when I've really committed to something consistently
and really committed to something in a way that like it's us versus the world period now whether
I've always picked and chose, whether I've always picked and chose the right things to feel like
that about, like, you pick about like 10 things in your life where you're like, yo, I'm loyal to
this. You learn from about a good two or three of them that like you got to really watch the
signs leading into what you're, what you're loyal to. But I think, you know, I'm going to
tell you this. Another thing I've learned is that as a woman, when you're literally growing and you're
being taught, you know, consistency, commitment, follow through all these things as a part of being a
nurturer and then your parents get older and you start having to apply it to them in your
relationship, you completely understand why it is important, number one. But you also understand
why a person like Jay-Z is talking about basically his return on his investment just
at morally from a moral standpoint because everybody gets to their point gets to a point in something
in business and relationship where you have to eventually depend on the other person.
If you are a child right now of a person, eventually that parent is going to depend on you.
If you are in a relationship, eventually your partner one day might have to look over and
depend on you.
I think about the people that we trust blindly on a day to day, like Uber drivers,
chefs and restaurants, police officers, like all of these people at some point,
we look at each other and trust and depend on each other.
So if I can control, you know, how good and loyal I am to a person in the midst of all
of that, I think that I just always know and feel like it benefits me more.
Like, we just understand water in the garden, man.
Like that's what it is.
We just understand watering the garden.
And it doesn't always mean that things is peaches and cream.
Like I think one of the biggest things that we run away from as black women,
let me speak for myself.
Let me not overgeneralize.
One of the things that I run from a lot as a black woman is the fear of being vulnerable
enough to be loyal and to lock into something and to commit to something and want to
nurture and want to grow and want to feed and give give give give give but being scared that like my cup is
not going to be full at the end of it and not because I know that I might do it to a point where like
I don't ever say hey my cup's not full or hey I need to walk away now because my cup's not full
and I've told you that and and it's not returning that's that's like the biggest fear for me
because I think that at the same time that you're taught to nurture and consistent and water the
garden and watch things grow and patience and all these things as a nurture.
We're also taught to really like stick around sometimes and in situations that you shouldn't.
And I think when you have conversations about women in business, right, like you think about
Rihanna.
Rihanna is a billionaire.
She ain't never got to sing a song a day in her life again off of her big business acumen.
That means she has had to trust somebody enough to be like, all right, I'm going to try this new
thing.
I'm going to probably spend some of my own money.
I'm a lean on and depend on people who want to also invest into this
and know that I can still have my control and my say so
and all these things like there's a lot of trust that goes into it
but I'm sure there's burnout that has gone into it as well
but you it's like trusting the people who are guiding your ship enough to know that like
they're going to see you like hey like you see me
and because you see me I'm here and I will always show up for you.

Without a doubt, he was going to hurt me.
I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming.
They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced.
But these aren't stories about what's taken from them.
They're stories about what it takes to make it out alive.

It can be such a struggle for our quality of life, but even if it's natural,
why should we suffer through it?
The types of symptoms that people talk about is forgetting everything.
I never used to forget things.
They're concerned that, one, they have dementia.
And the other one is, do I have ADHD?
There is unprecedented promise with regard to cannabis and cannabinoids,
to sleep better, to have less pain, to have better mood,
and also to have better day-to-day life.

30 years ago, an island off Manhattan almost brought down New York City.
Who will you trust your friends and neighbors?
Or will you trust the people five miles overseas?
This is a story about neighbors turning on each other.
And what happens when a forgotten place decides it's had enough.
We reached for a feeling that exists in this city.
But we're not stopping, are we?
I'm Ben that of Halfrey.
And for my new series on revisionist history, I took a deep dive into Staten Island's attempt to succeed from New York City in the 1990s.
And what it all has to do with the politics of resentment that dominate America today.

Interesting enough, when I saw Jay Z say this about Rihanna and I started to think about all of the reasons why I,
Rihanna as a person,
like why it didn't surprise me
that she was the first person
that was top of mind to her.
Like I've never met her before,
but just, you know,
I'm watching her interviews
and the things that I've heard
about her in the cloth that she's cut from.
Instantly I thought about that.
And it took me back to a conversation
that I watched that,
Gail Bean, who is on this new series,
this new snowfall series,
on effects,
what is it called?
The drop, Gail Bean, who was on the drop.
It took me back to a conversation that I recently watched with her and Kim Newton on Funky Friday.
And Gail Bean, you know, she was talking a lot about being a woman who, you know, being raised with our brothers really understands that, like, give and take of, like, the nurturing aspect that happens between men and women and family and business and all the things, right?
And she then shared a really, it was heartbreaking to hear.
She didn't share a really, really dark experience that happened to her with the man that she was working with who completely violated her boundaries.
I said, you could listen.
There's also been really great experiences.
I've had an experience where an editor, I was doing, I did an indie film.
A editor sent me footage of him editing my film and like, I guess jacking off.
And yeah, it was crazy.
Insane.
Insane.
this is a real thing.
And then I guess he busts.
Good thing.
Sorry.
No, I'm being, this is real life,
but my screen was cracked,
so I couldn't even see it,
so I could just hear it.
And I said,
I don't know what's wrong with you,
but don't you ever.
In fact, don't ever use my phone number
or number again.
Like, you, you dead to me.
That was an indie film.
Later on, he got hired to,
edit on P Valley. No way. Swear on my life.
Reached out. He ended up getting fired. I didn't say nothing because I don't get people fired.
But I didn't say anything to get him fired. It didn't work out. Why didn't you though?
Because this is the brother in me if we were related. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
Because if you're telling me, I'm angry. Because that's some, that's some, that's some, I'm trying to
curse. I'm trying to tame my tongue. That's some foolery.
that if I see you, bro, I'm watching Kim Newton's reaction to this.
And I'll tell you guys why all this makes sense of the end.
Watching Kim Newton's reaction to this, I was like, wow, it's crazy that in 2026, a man can hear that and still be like, what?
How to hell?
And not that he's absent-minded of it.
I'm not saying that.
What I'm saying is that there are certain things that just should not be happening.
anymore because as women we have voices we are not afraid to use them we got platforms but also i think
black men are just being a lot more conscious about making sure they're our support system and being
able to speak out for us and it led to a point of the conversation where cam newton talked about
wanting to repair his relationship and apologize to black women for some of the things that he thinks
have led to black women not feeling like we have the allies we need um and the conversations that
kind of stare that feeling, which I thought was amazing to hear from him. Let's take a listen.
I'm really trying to rehabilitate my relationship with black woman. And when I have conversations
like this, the only thing that I can say is, I'm sorry. Because I know the weight of my voice
now and I'm learning more. Contrary to what a person may believe, I'm not.
perfect, man. I just am trying to do something that I deem is cool. God has given me the ability to
enjoy talking to people. And there's been things that I know has set us back with the masculine,
feminine relationship in our culture. And when I hear things like this, where knowing that I
haven't always displayed and used my platform to speak truth to this is the oppression that our
black women have dealt with, even with black men, even with the industry, even with Atlanta.
It's like, man, I'm sorry. And I think these uncomfortable conversations, but these conversations
move it forward because any man who hears this, just think about it, bro, if this was Shakira,
who's my daughter, if this was Sovereign Dior, who's my daughter, if this was Jazabella Lee,
who's my daughter, and they say, Daddy,
I'm at work.
Matter of fact, I'm at the crib, chilling.
And this dude just sent me this message.
What that would ignite in me is something that would not be healthy for nobody,
especially that individual who sent it.
So I take this time to apologize publicly,
but also to say, I'm a work in progress.
You feel I'm saying?
Because there's things that I know as I take a step.
back and I look back and I'm like, dang, I shouldn't even say it that. I shouldn't even
been a part of that discussion.

Now, the reason why I brought all that into it is, what I'll say is, is that from the brief interaction that I had with Jay-Z, from watching, you know, the people in his life and how they operate, shoot, Desiret Perez, who is, you know, big boss over there at Rock Nation.
watching the women that surround Jay-Z and how they move and go and stand front line for him,
I think that that is a reflection of what he is in the lives of those women as well, too.
Like if you think about, you know, for all my female listeners, all my lady listeners,
if you think about any of the many of your life who have been the voice you can go to,
the protection you can go to, just a safe space of any sort,
think about how much you are willing to like stand ten toes down for them and i think us as women like
we i talked about that spirit of discernment and understanding like when and where to do that and how to do
that it's one of those things where like it just like with the riana and a j z i i see the transaction
within it is what i'm saying like it didn't surprise me all to hear him say that and i think
black men more openly are getting to a place where they can say yeah
I probably wasn't the best proponent of that.
Like, we're watching, you know, Jay-Z and his doc.
And just from what I saw so far, I mean, he openly admits in 4-44 that he wasn't the best protector of, you know, the black women, woman, especially like talking about Beyonce in his life at one point.
But he had to realize and understand and really think about what is this going to do for the black woman that I'm raising.
Blue Ivy.
And I think that that type of relationship with any woman,
I think that's why men need platonic relationships too.
Because I think having that relationship and the men understanding that,
it changes how they then go out into the world and talk about,
talk with,
talk up and or down other black women.
And that changes the relationships that we then allow ourselves to have in business
and life and relationship in love with black men.
It's just like a whole, like it's like a pay for,
type of thing.
So it was beautiful to see.
That was a beautiful answer to hear from him,
especially knowing that, you know,
there's been so many people that have passed through
Rock Nation State Property, Rockefeller,
on all these years.
So, yeah.
That was my little tip bit for today, y'all.
I hope y'all are as excited as I am
that I'm at Jayze and Beyonce.
Because you all might hear about this
for the next couple episodes.
Okay.
Excited.

It was literally just a party.
