Hello, America's sweetheart Johnny Knoxville here. I want to tell you about my new true crime podcast, Crimeless, Hillbilly Heist, from Smartless Media, Campside Media, and Big Money Players. It's a wild tale about a gang of high-functioning nitwits who somehow pulled off America's
Starting point is 00:00:54 third largest cash heist. Kind of like Robin Hood, except for the part where he's still. Gills from the rich and gifts to the poor, I'm not that generous. It's a damn near inspiring true story for anyone out there who's ever shot for the moon, then just totally muffed up the landing. They stole $17 million that had not bought a ticket to help him escape. So we're saying like, oh God, what do we do? What do we do? That was dumb. People do not follow my example.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Listen to Crimless, Hillbilly Heist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. I live below a cult leader and I fear I've angered her. Wait a minute, Sophia. How do you know she's a cult leader? Well, Dakota, luckily it's I'm not afraid of a scary story week on the OK Storytime podcast. So we'll find out soon. This person writes,
Starting point is 00:01:47 My neighbor has been blasting music every day and doing dirt rituals. And now my ceiling is collapsing. I try to report them, but things keep getting weirder. I think they might be part of a cult. Hold up. Real life cult? And what is a dirt ritual? No clue, Dakota.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Find out how it ends. Listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Cal Penn. And on my new podcast, here we go again. We'll take today's trends and headlines and ask, why does history keep repeating itself? Each week, I'm calling up my friends like Bill Nye, Lily Singh, and Pete Buttigieg to talk about everything from the space race to movie remakes to psychedelics. the way, are you high? Look, the world can seem pretty scary
Starting point is 00:02:33 right now, but my goal here is for you to listen and feel a little better about the future. Listen and subscribe to Here We Go again with Cal Penn on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hold on. Every day I wake up.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Wake your ass up. The Breakfast Club. You're all finished or y'all done. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envi. Just hilarious. Shalemaine the guy. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:02:58 We got a special guest. in the building. Yes, indeed. Bejee, welcome home, man. Welcome back, brother. How you feeling? I'm feeling good, man. Like, I'm blessed, man. You heard me, I can't complain, man. I'm good, man, I'm good. Good to see you, brother. Fresh off the verses. That's right.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Yeah, man, fresh off the verses. How was that? It was incredible, man. Like, it was a good moment, man. Like, something like that couldn't have happened, you know, 20 years ago. You know what I mean? So, you know, for all us to be on stage, you know, at the same time and it just be, you know, love and fun and, you know what I mean? Like, for us to just give it, you know, to the people
Starting point is 00:03:44 and what they've been asking for a long time. Hold on a quick. I want to say your energy was very infectious on that stage because you sold New Orleans. So for me, when I'm watching you on that stage, I'm just watching you celebrate the city. Even when no living music was coming on, you I was like, ah, that's like, I couldn't help myself.
Starting point is 00:04:04 I couldn't help myself, man, because I'm a fan. Right, right, right. You know, I'm a fan of Mac, I'm a fan of Mia. I'm a fan of Feen. Like, you know, soldier slim. That's my brother, free-seat murder, like, you know, so I just was in the moment, you know what I mean? Like, you know, even though we was battling,
Starting point is 00:04:24 like, it was certain records that came on where I just couldn't help. myself you know what I mean like for real for real but how bad was the beef because you know we I'm from New York he from South Carolina yeah yeah yeah yeah so how bad was it because people were saying like they didn't they never thought it could happen yeah yeah yeah I mean you know back in the days man like you know that that that that Magnolia you know call your beef was was real now I'm saying it was it was it was really real man and I don't want to you know just go into you know the the specifics of it right but you know it's you know I'm saying it's some people that die
Starting point is 00:05:02 right you know I'm saying on both sides or whatever you know what I mean but um yeah man it is what it is man you know for us to be able to come together you know after all this time and make that happen and then not only that man like you know they didn't reach out to us for the no limit cash money to her man you know what I'm saying so you know like man we I'm I'm saying, let's check the bag, man, you know what I'm saying? Like, like, like, like, let's check a bag, yeah. I heard they're going, I heard of about a documentary that explained in the Calio, Magnolia. Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Like, it's a lot of opportunities that presented itself, but yeah, I was on the phone with the, with AG yesterday. You know what I'm saying? Talking about, you know what I mean, a bag. Yeah, like, we're going to close that out and make that happen. And the tour are definitely going to hit New Orleans because, you know, people was mad diversity. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Nah, it, but you know it was complex kind, right? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:06:03 So, you know, I think if it would have been in New Orleans, it would have been, it would have been sick, right? Because they were saying that it couldn't happen because maybe the violence, but I was like, no, no, no, it would have been just as, it would have been just as fun and, you know, just as incredible as it was in Las Vegas, man. But I think, you know, that it should have been in New Orleans, but, you know, it happens. So now that they see, you know, that it could happen on a level
Starting point is 00:06:35 to where it ain't no BS involved, you know what I mean. Now we could, you know, move on and make things happen on another level. So it's all good. Why wasn't Wayne there? That's the question that everybody. I talked to Wayne yesterday, man. And I talked to Wayne the morning before, right? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:06:55 the morning before the verses. And, you know, short, it wasn't feeling good, man. You know what I mean? So, you know, because he had a concert that dress the same night, and he canceled that as well. You know what I mean? And Swiss was, you know, even hurt behind it, right? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:07:13 Because for real, for real, you know, that's the reason Swiss pulled the trigger on it. You know what I mean? Because Wayne, you know, agreed, right? I heard Wayne overstated the whole thing. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, like, come on. I mean, you know, shorty, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:07:27 Like, shorty, you know, shorty, you know what I'm saying? He got muscle, right? So, but, yeah, man, I think it was, you know, shorty wasn't feeling good because he definitely was supposed to be there, you know what I mean? So, you know, he told me that, you know, he wasn't feeling good and, you know, he had to go to the hospital or something like that, you know what I mean? So, you know, people be thinking that it was, you know, whatever. whatever, whatever. But at the end of the day, like I told him, man, we ain't spring chickens no more, man. You know what I mean? So, you know, you got to make sure, man, your health and, you know what I'm saying? You know, get your rest, man. You've been running 35 years strong. You know what I'm saying? So you got to make sure, you know, you get your rest and, you know, make sure, you know what I'm saying? That's your, you know, body and health just all the way and tech or whatever, whatever. But yeah, it was, it was, I think that was. I think that was.
Starting point is 00:08:25 the reason that you know short it wasn't there he was dealing with some personal issues and we'll get to see wayne on the tour if the tour happens with no limit attachment when we'll get to see way i mean you know that i i can't answer that you know what i mean like i i really can't answer that you know what i'm saying like you know sure to be on be on with shorty be on you know what i'm saying so you know i would love to see him out there with us you know i'm saying and on the tour and you know i don't think you know know that sure they'll turn down, you know, the bag that's on the table, but then, you know, them, they're already rich forever, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:09:03 I'm playing ketchup, you know what I'm saying? So, you know, I'm trying to clock at all, you know what I'm saying? But, yeah, man, we'll see, we'll see. When you and Wayne were coming up, and the reason I say you and Wayne, because I don't know if even people would know, the first time I got introduced to anything cash money related with baby gangsters. Not facts, BGs. Not facts.
Starting point is 00:09:25 BG and Wayne. Not facts. When y'all were coming up, did y'all realize, man, this could be what it turned out to be 30 years later? Absolutely not. Absolutely not. You know what I mean? Like, you know, we just was doing it for the love of the music. For real, like, you know, at that point, we was kids, man.
Starting point is 00:09:42 You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, Wayne was 11. You know, I was 13. You know what I mean? Like, we couldn't see this for. You know what I'm saying? Like, we really couldn't see this fault. You know, that was a vision.
Starting point is 00:09:54 and you know that that baby and Slimhead, you know what I mean? And, you know, they was, you know, trying to come out the streets, you know what I mean? And, you know, try something different and, you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, change our lives, you know, through the music or whatever, whatever. But, you know, if I was to say that, I saw, you know, us being who we became, like, you know, nah, I didn't see that far. Well, break down that vision. Because what did Baby and Slim see in each one of y'all?
Starting point is 00:10:26 Because y'all were young, 10 years old, 11 years old, 12 years old, juvenile was young. Well, really him and Wayne, that's why I want to stress that because that brotherhood to me is the foundation of character. Yeah, no, that's a fact. What did he see in y'all, and how did he find y'all to say this is the start? Well, you know, baby and Slim knew my mama, right? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:10:48 And, you know, I don't be wanting to, you know, put it out there. like that or whatever whatever but you know my mom my house was a stash house like where you're back in the g you know what i'm saying so you know what i'm saying like you know moms used to have bricks in the oven you know what i'm saying like for baby slim like way in 88 87 889 you know what i mean so i knew baby and slim since i was you know in elementary school you know what i mean and then when i started, you know, writing raps and things of that nature, and they hadn't started cash money like, what, 91, 992, you know what, and they heard I was, you know, rapping or whatever, and my barber stand called him like, man, little to get woo de, woo he rap, blah, blah, blah, blah,
Starting point is 00:11:38 no I'm saying, and they come to the barbershop, and hold on, they like, hold on, man, that's since, like, you know what I'm saying? And I rap for them, and, you know, they put me in a car and brought me, you know, to my mom, man was like, man, we're going to change his life, man. Like, you know, let us take him. My dad had just got killed. None of I'm saying, and, you know, I was out wild and, you know, I ain't had no gardens or whatever, whatever.
Starting point is 00:12:00 So, you know, Babe, and Slim took me under their wing and, you know, the rest history. How did Wayne get in the picture? Wayne came into the picture. I think it was like 94, 94, man little slim who was an artist on cash money records you know what i'm saying at the time man you know he um yeah he he introduced you know wayne to to to cash money and told baby man slim you know to check him out or whatever whatever and um you know he came to i let's hit records one time we had an autograph signing or whatever and way spits some things to him and then bam like you know
Starting point is 00:12:47 Bid and Slim, you know, put me and Wayne together and formed a group called the BGs, which is the Baby Gangsters, and you know, that was the first album. You know, that me and Wayne dropped together in like 19904. No, that was 94. That was 94.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Yeah, 94, we came with the true story album. It was me and Wayne. None of me. And then rest in peace, the rabbit, you know what I'm saying? Wayne stepped daddy, you know what I'm saying, who ended up getting killed. You know, he wanted to start his own record label, you know what I mean? And he ended up taking Wayne, you know, from the label, you know what I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:13:24 and was going to invest his own money in Wayne, and then he ended up getting killed, right? And then in like 906, you know, 97, you know, Ms. Cedar let Wayne come back, you know, to the label. And then that's when we formed the hot boys around me, Chuvry, you know, Wayne and Turk, you know what I mean? How did that brotherhood between you and Wayne, like that brotherhood before the fame, how did that shape y'all as artists and as men? Man, like, man, bro, we, man, man, Wayne used to be writing raps together in my mama kitchen. You know what I mean? Like, you know, baby, lock us in the house. You know, I'm talking about it like, he'll get manned and fresh to make a beat.
Starting point is 00:14:12 And literally, you know, lock us in the house. in the house while they're going out and run emirons and stuff and make us, you know, write songs to this one beat, you know what I'm saying, and then, you know, he'll come back and listen to what we had and, you know, be like, that ain't it, that ain't it, that ain't it, that ain't it, and, you know, tear our raps up, like, but keep this, you know what I'm saying, and yeah, man, I'd be like, hey, he just tore this my shit up, like, I've been writing all day, know what I'm saying, but he, like, I mean, it was like military. It was like a military school, man, but it created, you know, the, it created something.
Starting point is 00:14:58 It created monsters, man, you know what I'm saying? Like, you see what Wayne have became, you know what I mean? Like, you know, and, yeah, just the work ethic. It created a work ethic that's just undeniable. And Birdman was like a father figure to both of you. Absolutely. I've heard you call Burma and Paul. No, absolutely, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Absolutely. He raised me. You know what I'm saying? Like he pretty much raised me, man. You know what I'm saying? Him and Slim, man. They raised me, man. From 12 on up, man. Like, you know, I got to give them all the credit, man.
Starting point is 00:15:29 They raised me, man. And that's why I like talking about cash money because, you know, of course, everybody knows what Wayne does. Everybody knows who he does. But there's no cash money without BG. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, you know, I mean, cash money was built on my back, man. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:15:44 like when when you think about it you know jewelry first feature was on my chopper city album you know what i'm saying like you know from you know bg true story chopper city is all on you volume one is all on you volume two you know till we formed the hot boys in nine and seven with the get it how you live and you know so forth and so on with the soldier rags and this that and the third but yeah i was i was yeah yeah Yeah, I was him. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. In the documentary, after all that, in a documentary, right,
Starting point is 00:16:17 you talk about how hard it is to stay relevant while you're locked up in your way for the amount of time that you did. Did you think it was over for you while you were locked in? I did. I did. Like, when a judge gave me them 14 years, like, you know, it's hard to stay relevant and it's a rap thing for a month, you know, six months a year.
Starting point is 00:16:37 You know what I'm saying? And you got 14 years, not for a vicious, of violent crime. No, I didn't give 14 years for a violent crime. You got a gunman. Guns and obstructing justice. I really got 10 years for the gun,
Starting point is 00:16:49 14 years for the obstructing justice. You know what I mean? But, you know, when I got them 14 years, I was like, damn, it's all over it. You know what I'm saying? My career all over it. Like, I couldn't see the end. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:17:02 And then, you know, social media started popping and Instagram started popping. And you know, it was ways to, you know, stay relevant, you know, through social media that really helped me, you know, stay in tune with the fans and things of that nature. And, um, yeah, man, I'm, I'm back. And not only that, I was attached to a brand, you know, that stay relevant, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:29 throughout that time, you know what I mean? Because at the end of the day, yeah, absolutely. Like, Stunner was there, like, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, no, Stunner was there, you know, Wiesie was shouting me out and, you know, the whole gang or whatever, whatever, but if it wasn't for, if it wasn't, you know, for social media, who knows?
Starting point is 00:17:49 You know what I mean? Like, because yeah, man, yeah. That's interesting. You say that, though, because, you know, Jay-Z once said, if everybody in your click is rich, your click is rugged, nobody will fall because everybody will be each other's crutches. I would think even with 14 years, not flex. Wayne, I mean, Wayne became Wayne in those 14 years.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Right, right, right. Movie and Birdman, like, they was all still in the mix. They were still in the mix. they would ever let you. And not only that, though, like, you know, at the end of the day, I can't tell my story without telling his story. That's right. You know, Julie can't tell his story without telling my story.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Wayne can't tell his story, you know, without telling my story. So, you know, we all joined at the hip, whether we like it or not. You know what I mean? Like our legacies are all, you know what I mean? Like, one, you know what I'm saying? So, you know, that I think that benefit. me too. What do you think that era taught you about loyalty and ownership?
Starting point is 00:18:45 Um, man, I mean, it taught me to be on your, be on your head, you know what I mean? Because, you know, it's a lot of things that I had to come home to, you know what I'm saying, that I had to fix your day force, you know, having people around me, you know, that was around me for all the wrong reasons. you know, was doing things that, you know, I wasn't aware of, you know, that had me in situations that, you know, I didn't choose to be in, but, you know, they was doing crooked, you know how I go, man, you know what I mean? So, yeah, it taught me a lot, man, and now I'm on point now, man.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Now, with your release, is it true that every lyric that you rap now or right now you have to send for approval? So, so, so I definitely, so I have to turn it over to my pill, you know what I mean? Like, they, they don't get to approve because when I first came home, the, when I did the album with Gucci, man, when I first came home, me and Wap did the tape together, right? And they tried to violate me and send me back to jail for that. You know what I mean? And I was like, damn, like, you know, like, what, what's up? Like, I ain't did nothing but what I've been doing, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:20:13 So they were saying that they didn't want me doing nothing pertaining to entertainment or nothing pertaining to music that I can make money off of. You know what I mean? So it was like, God damn, like, yeah, like, I don't, I didn't understand it. And that's why I fought it. Exactly. Like, I've been doing this since I was 13 years old. Like, and you're trying to send me back to jail for just simply trying to make a living, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:20:44 So the judge agreed with me and said it was a violation of my freedom of speech. You know what I mean? And, but she did say that I had to turn over the lyrics to my probation officer before I made them available to the public. You know what I mean? So I still. That sounds crazy. You know, have to turn my lyrics over to my probation officer before I make them available to the public.
Starting point is 00:21:09 But she don't have to approve them or nothing, but I still be having to just, you know, be mindful of what I say and how I said. You know what I mean? Can they exit out? Can they say, nah, you can't put this out commercial? No, I ain't going to lie, though. They've been, they've been working with me.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Like, they've been, they've been, they've been giving me, They've been giving me my space and letting me make it. And I got a good PO, man. And I ain't got a number like two months left. You know what I mean? I didn't done everything. I was supposed to do the right way. You know, I ain't feel no drugs to it.
Starting point is 00:21:48 So I didn't do all my community service. You know, I didn't complete it all the programs, you know, that they, you know, wanted me to complete. Like, so everything is everything, man. And I'm grateful. They want you to drop a gospel album. Exactly. And listen, not, because in the beginning, though, like, they didn't want me rapping about guns. They didn't want me rapping about snitches.
Starting point is 00:22:16 You know, they didn't want me rapping about, I'm talking about, you know, everything that I've made a living of, like, my whole career. And I'm like, hold up. Like, I ain't the first one to rap about it. I ain't going to be the last one to rap about it. Like, what you mean? You know, I can't rap. about this this that and the third like come on like it's it's only entertainment yeah know I'm saying like I ain't no different from Denzel Washington playing Frank
Starting point is 00:22:40 Lucas like I'm Christopher Dorsey playing BG right like it's only entertainment you get what I'm saying I wanted to do BG even still have to play that anymore because I mean you you're you're a wiser man now older you got a lot of life experiences not facts you've always been you know vivid with the pin you can tell you're making stories but do you even have to lean into that anymore not not not not not not Not really. Like, I, I just, I just pretty much, I just pretty much tell my story. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:23:09 And, you know, rap about what I see, rap about what I go through, rap about what I experience. And, you know, just try to keep it authentic, man, and try to keep it real, man. No, when you first, in a documentary, you talk about when you first came home and you tried to go to Vegas versus staying in New Orleans because you just knew it wasn't good for you. And they denied that at first. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:28 And then you had that conversation with your prosecutor for two hours, but you don't tell us what the conversation really entailed in the documentary. So I'm wondering, like, you said it went well, but, like, what did you say to him or her and what did they respond back with that got that approval? I mean, basically, you know, I just told them that, you know, I felt like my life was in jeopardy. You know, if I went back to New Orleans, like I felt like it wasn't safe for me. You know what I mean? And I told him that I needed a new start.
Starting point is 00:23:58 You know what I mean? And I wanted a new start. you know what I'm saying and I just didn't want to go back to the city man like because you know a lot of the dudes that I left was still out there doing the same things that I left him doing you know what I'm saying so you know I just wanted a fresh start and and he agreed with me he agreed with me and and they gave me a pass and let me go you know start a new life in Vegas so I went to Vegas and you know and everything worked out for me that should be common sense though like if you're asking that. Like, I don't know why you have to sit down and because if I would have went back to New Orleans, I'd probably be already back in jail. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, if I don't went back to the city, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:24:40 Like, if I'd have went back to the city, man, I already be back in jail right now, man. You know what I mean? Like, I couldn't go back to the city. One thing I like about you, too, you've always been open about your drug addict. Mm-hmm. Did jail help you get clean? No, no, absolutely. Because when I left, you know, I was a lean head. You know,
Starting point is 00:25:00 I was a pill-popping animal, like, you know, syrup-sipping, you know, so how you couldn't reach me with an antenna, like, like, on my way. Like, but, yeah, nah. They did heroin, too, was that? Not, I ain't did heroin since 2020, since 20-2, 20-03. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I had started popping pills and drinking lean in, like, 0-4-5, like, when the hurricane hit, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:25:29 So, yeah, I haven't there in heroin since, like, 2002, 2003. I kicked heroin, but then I picked up another opiate, you know what I'm saying? And, you know, I learned that that just was a substitute for that. You see what I'm saying? So, yeah, man, Jail definitely, you know, help me, you know what I'm saying, just shake that all the way, all the way, all the way. Do you know what you might have been trying to escape when you were doing those drugs? um just just just just you know the man it's a lot of pressure you it's a lot that come with with this
Starting point is 00:26:10 industry you know what I'm saying it's a lot that you know come with you know just the bills and you know your family and you know just trying to please everybody and and just trying to mass you know what I mean like certain things and and it's just It'd be an escape, man, for real, for real. Like, and that's why I was at with it, man. What makes you feel a whole now? Just, just living, you know what I'm saying? Just really, for real, for real, being free.
Starting point is 00:26:43 You know what I'm saying? Being free, you know, being happy and being alive, man. For real, for real, you know what I mean? Because, you know, I didn't lost a lot. I didn't lost a lot of good homies along the way. And, and... In the heat of battle, your squad, lies on you. Don't let them down. Unlock elite gaming tech at Lenovo.com. Dominate every match

Hey, I'm Cal Penn, and on my new podcast, Here We Go Again. We'll take today's trends and headlines and ask, why does history keep repeating itself? You may know me as the second hottest actor from the Harold and Kumar movies, but I'm also an author, a White House staffer, and as of like 15 seconds ago, a podcast host.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Along the way, I've made some friends who are experts in science, politics, and pop culture. And each week, one of them will be joining me to answer my burning questions. Like, are we heading towards another financial crash like in 08? Is non-monogamy back in style? And how come there's never a gate ready for your flight when it lands like two minutes early? We've got guests like Pete Buttigieg, Stacey Abrams, Lili Singh, and Bill Nye. When you start weaponizing outer space, things can potentially go really wrong. This person writes, My neighbor's been blasting music every day and doing dirt rituals, and now my ceiling is collapsing. I try to report them, but things keep getting weirder. I think they may be part of a cult? Hold up, Sophia. A real-life cult? And what is a dirt ritual?
Starting point is 00:30:12 No clue. But according to this person, contractors are tearing down the patio to find out what's going on with their ceiling, and her neighbors are not happy. Well, she needs to report them ASAP. She did. And now they've been confronting her, in really creepy ways all the time.
Starting point is 00:30:29 So do we find out if this person survives their neighborhood cult or not? Starting point is 00:31:48 and Gizi had a conversation before versus did you have to have a conversation laid things out or no on both sides Well, well, home team in.
Starting point is 00:31:57 I mean, you know, me and KLC been working together forever. Like, I love KLC. Like, you know, we're doing a whole project together right now. Like, Mac is my brother. Like, I love Mac. Like, Mac was on my first album, Chopper City. You know what I'm saying? Fee my brother.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Like, me or ex my sister. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, C, murder my dog. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know, you know, the conversation that, you know, baby and pee had or if they even had a conversation but yeah i was having conversations with you know all the people that i just mentioned before you know we didn't and i'm like man listen man come on man stop playing man let's check this bag man you know what i'm saying let's check this
Starting point is 00:32:42 bag you know what i'm saying let's give it to the people let's do it for the culture man you're me you know what i'm saying like it's it's been long overdue and um it happened I could be wrong, but I feel like you and see murdered, the only no-limit cash money artists to collaborate? I feel like... And me and Matt collaborated, and me and Finn collaborated. Finn was on my last album, yeah, yeah, yeah, facts.
Starting point is 00:33:03 And how bad does the Turk situation hurt? Because y'all grew up with each other. Y'all lived in the same house as y'all toured. I'm sure y'all that you've been on the same. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Many vans traveling from some of the cities. How bad is that situation that the family can't be tight? I mean, man.
Starting point is 00:33:19 I mean, bro, like, man, bro, man, this Internet is, it's poison, man. You know what I mean? Like, you know, it's a crazy place, you know what I mean? And, you know, a lot of people, you know, just get caught up, you know what I mean? Like in the likes and, you know, in the followers and, you know, just in the BS, you know what I'm saying? that come with it and you know everything ain't for everybody you know what I mean
Starting point is 00:33:54 and that's just how I feel you know what I'm saying because I come up and grew up in a time where you know you you try to keep what was private private you know what I mean
Starting point is 00:34:07 and nowadays it's just like everybody's just want to just you know what I mean like come on man like what is we doing like come on man Man, stop it, man.
Starting point is 00:34:19 Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, we're supposed to be men. Like, we're supposed to be cancer. Like, what is you going? You know what I'm saying? Like, what is you doing? Like, like, what's what's that? Like, and it'd be throwing me off, man.
Starting point is 00:34:33 But, you know, it is what it is. Have you tried to be the bridge, the one that say, you know what? Let me be the guy that. Well, y'all got your own issue. I thought to say. I thought you got your job. Yeah. We're going to bridge.
Starting point is 00:34:44 We're going to bridge here. Right. But you say. But you say it's about the check, and you've grown and you've evolved. Nah, facts, facts. I mean, listen, man, like I said, man, you know, me and Stunner got our relationship. You know, I got my relationship with Juvic, you know what I'm saying? Man, we've got our relationship.
Starting point is 00:35:03 You know, men, fresh, you know, we got our relationship. You know what I'm saying? Like, Tiki, you know, he be on. He be, man, he be on with he be on, and I just ain't on that. No what I'm saying? So, you know, at the end of the day, man, like, it is what it is, man. But it always looked good to see all of y'all whole. No, big facts.
Starting point is 00:35:25 Big facts. They'd be trying to front on Turks roll in the hot boys. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And, you know, I mean, don't make me go there, man. But you got to admit, though, he did have the best verse on Bling Bling. On Blink Blink, no, maybe on I need a hot girl. No, Blank Blank Blink. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:35:45 Maybe I need a hot girl. That's a much, I guess. Yeah, not fake. Nah, nah, he's slid. He's like, like, I ain't taking nothing away from around. You know what I'm saying? But man, round be tripping now. It ain't nothing that can resolve it though.
Starting point is 00:36:02 I mean. Because y'all did what y'all wasn't on tour together for a little while. And I saw y'all in New Orleans, it was a great vibe. Not fact. But then it was the whole thing that happened with the other tour. And then he just be doing goofish it. You know what I'm saying? Like he's just, for no reason.
Starting point is 00:36:16 reason like like like for like he's just be jumping out there know what I'm saying with no parachute on you know what I'm saying like for no reason like and you know what I'm saying like and it just be like man you know what I'm saying like come on bro you you got juvie mad you got fresh man you got bird made you're you you're playing with me nothing and then you got shorter in the cut like don't get about none of it you what I'm saying And it's like, bro, come on, you shot yourself in the foot. Damn. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:36:52 Like you, and then you constantly shooting yourself in the foot. Could he be going through something, though? Like, could it be something deeper, like, you know? Man, I don't know, man. You know, you know, you know behind, you know every, you know, what they say, behind every strong black man is a strong black woman, right? You know what I'm saying? And then you know behind every goofy is a good.
Starting point is 00:37:16 goofy female that's telling them what they're doing is, is, like, you know what I'm saying? All right, all right. He's about to go too far. Yeah. Yeah. All right. All right. So, leave me alone.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Leave it. I wasn't, I wasn't trying to go there with it. Bibi, I do want to ask you, what's one thing you know about freedom now that you didn't understand back then? Oh, man. It's, it's, it's, man, it, it's the most important, like, because I got my son in here with me right now, right? And when I left the streets, he was 11 years old, you know what I'm saying? And I come home to a grown man, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:38:01 Like, I come home, he's 22, 23 years old, you know what I'm saying? And I miss, you know, the most important years of his life, right? You know what I'm saying? And, you know, sometimes, you know, he'd be doing things, and I'd be like, damn, I can't even fault him for not knowing what I wouldn't ever teach him. You see, you know what I'm saying? Like, so, you know, it's, it's, man, bro, like, man, freedom is, man, man, it is everything, man. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:38:34 Like, I don't wish, you know, jail on my words hitting me, man. You know what I'm saying? because that's not nowhere that, nah, ain't nothing cool about it. You know what I'm saying? I mean, I know it come with it. You know what I'm saying? When you're out there living,
Starting point is 00:38:49 you know a certain type of way or, you know, when you're doing certain type of things, you know what I mean? Like, you know, you got to, I mean, it is what it is, right? You know what I'm saying? And you got to take your leg and you got to, you know, move on. But, yeah, man, I definitely, it's a lot of things. I wish, you know, that I could have, you know, took back so I could have been there, you know what I'm saying, for my family and for my kids and just for, you know, the people that love me, man.
Starting point is 00:39:21 So, yeah, freedom is, is everything. What's dad, BG, like, like, now your home and you're getting to be with your son? Like, what are you like as a father? I mean, I'm the cool dad, you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, I try to, you know, put my food. foot down when it's, you know what I mean, time to put my foot down. But also, you know, I miss so much time, right? You know what I'm saying? So where it's like, you know, in certain situations, I be kind of timid, you know what I mean? And don't be wanting to be too,
Starting point is 00:39:56 you know what I'm saying? Like strict or whatever, whatever. But yeah, man, I'm just enjoying it. I'm just enjoying it, man. I'm just enjoying it. I'm just enjoying it. I'm enjoying it. I'm you always been raw with your music but you know now that you older wiser you got your freedom is there a part of your story you're more protective of like something you'd rather keep to yourself than put it in music um no not not necessarily like i've always been an open book you'm saying i've always been an open book like i ain't never really hate nothing you know in my music i always you know embrace the good the bad and ugly you know what i mean so yeah man and still keep it that way yeah
Starting point is 00:40:40 what was the the hardest thing you had to adjust to when you first came home um social media you know what I'm saying social media like you know the you know the the DM in and you know
Starting point is 00:40:55 you're getting with females and they're trying to take pictures so you and you're sleeping now oh man you're a man Listen, listen, listen, listen, but I'm glad, you know, I'm in a relationship now. I got a woman now, you know what I mean? And I ain't got to, you know, live like that no more.
Starting point is 00:41:18 You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? For five seconds, I got to get out of it. Yeah, man, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was strange. Yeah. No I'm saying? It was different, like, you know, just adjusting. Because when I left, Instagram had just started, you can only just post a picture.
Starting point is 00:41:35 You know what I mean? Like, you couldn't go live. You couldn't do this, do that, do that, do that. No I'm saying? And then I come home and it's just, you know what I mean? Like, you know, everybody got a voice now. Everybody got old pain and everybody. Like, it just was a lot.
Starting point is 00:41:53 You know what I mean? Then you got girls that want that fresh out of prison dick. Yeah. I'm serious. Yeah, I believe it because the niggas. It's a whole junior. They got a little. And they was waiting on you.
Starting point is 00:42:04 They were waiting on you. The people were waiting for BG to be released, so I know it was like... Nah, no, facts, man. But, yeah, I'm happily, I'm happily in a relationship, man. I think I'm getting married next year, man. So I'm good, man. You know what I'm saying? For real, for real.
Starting point is 00:42:22 How you know that's the one? She makes me feel, you know, complete. You know, she makes me happy. He's blushing. You know what I'm saying. You're not talking to DG anymore. We're talking to G. Like, like, he brings the Christopher out.
Starting point is 00:42:43 It's not, for real, for it's real though, man. It's, it's real, man. And I ain't never, like, I've never, I've never out of my 30 years of just whaling and just thugging and just, you know, being a hot boy, right? you know what I'm saying I ain't never like you know being in this place like you know just mentally like and physically you can say in love you're saying love no I'm in love you know what I'm in love that's a fact you found a ring already you picking up you've been looking at rings already I've been I've been I've been looking at rings already I love this no for real for real man How does an artist like yourself
Starting point is 00:43:35 who really come from the street who really come from that life How do you adapt to this new era without losing your authenticity? Damn, that's a good question, man. I mean, I just got to stay true to who I am. You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, just as a person
Starting point is 00:43:56 and as a man, right? You know what I mean? Because, you know, it's just water down all you, man. Like, it's different. You know what I mean? Like, it's a lot of things. That I just be like, man, what the up? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:44:09 I'd be like, man. Like, sometimes I just be wanting to hang it up. Like, man, I'm about to go do sibs. Like, I'm about to find. Because it's, it's, but at the end of the day, man, that's what I signed up for. You know what I mean? That's what I signed up for. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:44:27 And I love the culture. You know what I'm saying? You know, like music, you know. and rapping, like, you know, it's just in my heart. You know what I'm saying? Like, and, yeah, man, like, I ain't going to let, you know, the buffoonery or just the sucker stuff, you know what I'm saying, dictate, you know, what I'm doing and what I'm on.
Starting point is 00:44:48 So I just stay true to who I am, man, and keep it pushing. My last question, I guess, on the documentary is the whole time throughout the documentary you're talking about how much, or your lawyer talks about how much you wanted to fight from the very beginning. It's a big fight to have when you've gone up against the government, right? Nah, big facts. Were you ever scared at any point, like, yo, this might go the wrong way? Because you said you felt like they were putting you in that position because you wouldn't cooperate with that.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Right, right. Nah, absolutely. Like, I mean, I was, but I knew I didn't do anything wrong. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, I knew deep down inside, you know, that I didn't do nothing wrong. Like, it's music. Like, how are you going to lock me up for some reps?
Starting point is 00:45:36 Like, come on, man. Like, make that make sense. You know what I mean? Like, so, you know, like I told him, and then, you know, I paid you a hundred grand, man. You know what I'm saying? Like, you better go in here and make this make sense for me. But, you know, at the end of the day, like, yeah, nah, I just wouldn't lay down. Like, you know, because at the end of the day, you know, I felt like,
Starting point is 00:46:01 If I lay down and then I seen what Doug was going through, you know what I'm saying? And in his case, you know, with them using his lyrics against him, you know, I've seen other artists, you know, go through, you know, whether it was C-Murder or Mac or, you know, this one, or that one. And I'm like, man, nah, man, I, nah, I ain't, nah, because I ain't there, nothing, but with some rapids, you know what I'm saying? Like, just because you don't like it, you know, that don't make it, you know, wrong, like, you know, it's rock and roll artists that talk about killing these
Starting point is 00:46:35 Mamas and you know what I'm saying doing all type of wild stuff you see what I'm saying so you know you're trying to ridicule me and and and nah nah nah nah I ain't lying down like that man because I ain't did nothing nothing I'm saying I ain't did nothing but I'm just trying to make a living and I'm just telling my story and the end of the day is on entertainment so I had to go with my move and you had Lana and then Tasha I know she's here with you mm-hmm fighting for you hard as well from returning back home or is she not here Tracy, sorry, I'm sorry, Tracy. Tracy, fighting hard for you
Starting point is 00:47:09 and they were in the documentary talking about them choosing to fight for you during a time where you said a lot of people kind of like backed away. What did that teach you about relationships and valuing relationships? Because they didn't get nothing out of supporting you. I mean, you know, you always find out who love you for you.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Like, you know what I'm saying? You know, like, you know, people, people, man, people love you. when it's beneficial for them, right? You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, it's, man, I could go on and on about that whole, you know what I'm saying, situation because I didn't experience a lot when they come down to that book. You know, they hadn't wrapped their arms around me from day one, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:47:55 Since, you know, the moment I went to prison to, you know, the moment, you know, I came down that escalator and they was there, you know, waiting on me. So, you know, that goes without saying, you know what I mean, that they was going to stand with me and fight with me, you know what I mean? But, yeah, man, it just sees you a lot about, you know, people, but I ain't, come on, man, like, I already know it. Like, I ain't knew to this. Right.
Starting point is 00:48:24 You know what I'm saying? I'm true to this. So it's like I already know what it is. So when you've seen both sides of loyalty from the business side and the screen side and just, you know, even your people, like, what's harder, forgiving somebody who crossed you or forgiving yourself for, like, the choices you might have made? I ain't lying, man.
Starting point is 00:48:45 You know, I forget, but I don't forget, right? You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, I know a lot of people feel like that, right? You forget, but you don't forget, you know what I'm saying? And, you know, it just make you wiser and it make you smarter and they make you, you know, picking shoes to people that, you know you choose to you know have around you in the future right you know what I mean like
Starting point is 00:49:08 it give you a better you know I'm saying like it give you a better sense of the type of people that you know you want around you or that you need around you because I definitely don't like no yes man around me you know I'm saying I need people around me that's gonna call me on my BS you know what I'm saying uh that's gonna check me you know when I'm you know I'm doing something wrong and things of that nature because, you know, like Pimsy said, man, in his book, like, when you get to believe in your own hype, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:49:40 Like, that's a recipe for disaster. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, I try to keep people around me that's going to, you know, just keep me in line and let me know, like, man, look, you tripping, you know what I'm saying? Or you ain't, you know what I mean? But it got to be somebody that you respect. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:49:56 And yeah, that's why I'm at with it. Do you ever feel like your story could have been a warning or a lesson for the next generation. Absolutely. Absolutely. Like, don't be like me, be better than me. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:50:08 Like, that's what I always try to preach, you know what I'm saying? Like, I be going to, you know, juvenile jails and, you know, when I do my community service, I be going to the jails and, you know, speaking to the youth and, you know, doing, you know what I need to do to give back and things of that nature. But I just be trying to tell them all the time, man,
Starting point is 00:50:29 listen, man, don't be. be like me, man, be better than me, man. I've been there, done that, man. I know where it leave, man. You know what I mean? Like, man, I'm telling you, man. Like, it's real. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:50:42 Like, I know a lot of tools, man. That's never coming home, man. Like, they're going to die in that joke. You know what I'm saying? Like, literally, like, they're going to die in that motherfucker. You know, excuse me. You know what I'm saying? But, like, it's, it's real out here.
Starting point is 00:50:59 What part of your life do you think you want? this generation to pay attention to the most um which one could do what part of your life could they learn from them um for real for real like i ain't lying bro man it them drugs bro you're what i'm saying like you know and i used to love that cup i loved it that cup you know what i'm saying i loved it you know palming pills you know it was my escape you know it was my safe place like it made me but bro, that it hold you back. You know what I mean? Like in a major way, man.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Like, it really, really hold you back. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, I know, I know it's a look and, you know what I mean? Like, you know, it's, you know, it's part of the swag and you know, all this and all that. But at the end of the day, man, like, man, nah, that ain't where is that? You think it kept you from being like even the... Man, it, it absolutely. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:51:59 Absolutely. It helped me all the way back. You know what I'm saying? It held me all the way back. I think I could have been way bigger, you know, than I was if I wasn't doing what I was doing. You came up with the turn Bling, Bling, Bling, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, us, you know what I'm saying, as a whole. Like, you know, we was in the studio just having fun one night.
Starting point is 00:52:19 You know what I mean? And, you know, we had just started, you know, I mean, well, we had been getting money and shining and whatever, whatever. And, you know, you're like, man, you blink and, you blink and then Wayne come up with the hook. and the rest history is in the dictionary and all type of, you know what I mean? So I'm like, yeah, yeah, but, you know, I wouldn't credit myself. I'm going to credit the whole gang, man. You know what I'm saying? What does healing look like for BG?
Starting point is 00:52:46 Healing? Healing, yeah. I mean, you carried a lot, you know what I'm saying, grief and incarceration. Like, what's peace look like to you now? Um, man, you know that just, you know, love man like you know just you know the kids you know I'm saying like you know my girl like you know music you know what I mean just you know doing what I love like I mean yeah man that's that's that's that's that's that's that's pretty much you know what what what what healing
Starting point is 00:53:23 look like to me man like just you know just just just just really for real for real just just you know, being happy, man and just staying focused, man, and staying out the way for real. All right. Who won the verses? I think that was coming. You're honest, New Orleans opinion.
Starting point is 00:53:41 Don't give me no answer, like New Orleans or hip-hop. Hey, hey, hey. Who won the verses? Um, I ain't gonna lie, man, like, on some G, uh-uh. You know, and it's just, you know what I'm saying? Me and you on some G, like, presentation-wise, you know what I think they probably got us.
