Hi, I'm Dr. Priyanko Wali.
And I'm Hurricane Dabolu.
It's a new year.
And on the podcast, Health Stuff, we're resetting the way we talk about our health.
Which means being honest about what we know, what we don't know, and how messy it can all be.
I like to sleep in late and sleep early.
Is there a chronotype for that or am I just depressed?
Health stuff is about learning, laughing, and feeling a little less alone.

Hello, I'm Jorge Ramos.
This week, on the moment, we take a look at Venezuela's uncertain future in a conversation
with two people who have directly advised U.S. presidents.
Juan Gonzalez, during the Obama and Biden administrations, we're really good at invading
countries.
We're very bad at nation building.
In Carlos D.Rosillo, we're in Trump's two terms.
I can guarantee you that nobody in the Trump administration likes Del Cid Rodriguez.

Oh, no.
Every day I wake up.
Wake your ass up.
You're all finished or y'all done?
Morning, everybody is DJ Envy.
Jess Salarion, Sholomaine the guy.
We are the breakfast club.
Long & Rose is here with us as well.
We got a special guest in the building.
Yes, indeed.
Welcome home, ladies and gentlemen.
It's Fettiw.
Welcome.
Yeah, man.
What's up?
How you feel?
I feel good, man.
You ain't missed no push-ups,
been eating your protein.
You're taking full advantage of that time, huh?
Couple of chicken packs and tunas and all life.
See what I'm saying?
How are you, first of all, brother?
I'm blessed, man.
You know, I'm blessed.
I can, you know, if I can sum it up,
I'm just blessed, man.
I feel good to be back, you know,
sleep in my own bed,
eat some real food,
see the family, you know,
get all I love,
and see everybody just happy to see me
like I'm happy to see them,
so it feels good.
I'm definitely blessed for that.
Do you feel like you need to get right back to it?
Or like, you know, do you want to just adjust and be human first
before you got to get into artist FettyWat mode?
Are we allowed to do that?
No.
Yes, you are.
You allowed to, but not, like, you would have to make that decision for yourself.
Yeah, I mean, for me, I don't know, I'll just, you know,
making music is just what I love to do.
So I wouldn't say, I wouldn't say it's like getting right back to it.
It's just like something that I miss for the last four years of my life,
you know what I'm saying?
Definitely being in that studio, letting that be.
my outlet, you know what I'm saying, for whatever I'm going through at the time.
So, if that's getting back to it, then, yeah, yeah, definitely got to get right back to it.
Have you gotten in the studio yet?
Yeah.
Oh, you're back in there already.
Already working.
Oh, you did the first day out record?
No, no, I did it first day out record.
Okay, okay, okay.
Not, except for a longer project or something?
No, just, you know, just, like, you know, how you said, like, you know, when the box
ain't been in the ring for a while, I just got a, I mean, got a mid-up real quick,
so if you still got it, you know what I'm saying?
Like that, so that's all just, just, just filling it back out.
What was the, okay.
I was going to say, so, you know, most people want to know what happened, right?
And the reason they want to know is you had numerous platinum, multi-platinum hits.
Numerous records that went through the charts.
Fetti had a run.
And not just urban charge.
Mainstream.
I mean, you were doing bar mitzvirs.
What's the Spanish one?
Kisietas.
Don't act like you don't know?
I'm not Spanish.
I am not Spanish.
You know what I mean?
You see what he tried to do?
You know what I mean?
You did everything.
And then you went a different route.
What happened?
Like, what was the?
a disconnect for fettie was it label was it uh i mean well you know certain things that i still
you know i can't really talk about like like that i mean just for certain legal reasons but um
i guess to sum it up you know what i'm saying uh as far as the music side like as far as the
music side i just kind of uh was going through something with certain parts of a different label
you know i mean i want to say those names because i'm not into bashing nobody that's not what i do
You know what I'm saying?
But certain things just wasn't lining up.
So I just, you know, when they say, you can't teach it.
What is it?
What is it saying?
You can't teach it.
Old dog.
Yeah.
Something like that.
You know what I'm saying?
To basically put it in a way where I don't know.
You know what I mean?
So I just had to just, I just did what I know how to do, you know what I mean, when
certain things was happening.
So.
Now when you got, when you got locked up, did it make you love music more?
Because I feel like at one time you didn't love music the same like you did when
when you first came out.
Did it make you love music again?
Being locked up did a few things for me.
As far as music, yeah, of course.
Know what it is, honestly, not being able to record music
was the biggest thing.
Because, you know, as an artist,
you're going to, you hear a little bit,
you do a little beat on the table
and you could just start the writing,
you know, you get the writing stuff in your head
or you hear melodies in your head,
but that feeling when you just,
I'm going to go to the studio,
like, oh, nah, I ain't about to go nowhere right now.
You know what I'm saying?
So it made me miss being able to, you know, just get up and go when I want to go do music.
Definitely humble you a lot, you know what I'm saying, stuff like that.
But, yeah.
So when you got that feeling when you were locked up, did you just write?
Like, how did you, because as a creative, it's still there.
Like, what do you do to release at that point?
Man, that's actually crazy, right?
Because if anybody knows me, they know, like, I don't really write your music.
I just kind of freestab.
Like, I just go in there and do my thing.
So to write a song, it took me, like, maybe three weeks.
Because I had to, the problem with me with writing is,
I feel like it's not as authentic as it is when you just go in there
because you got the option to change out things, say different things.
I would say this different.
I don't want to say this.
So, like, when you're writing, it's kind of like,
let me make it sound better.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
But when it's coming out, it's just whatever you feel.
that there's like raw emotion you know what i'm saying so like that uh that created
process was was basically the hardest thing for me what did prison teach you about yourself that
that success never could um what the prison teach me about myself uh that success never good yeah i mean
honestly well in that case not really too much not really too much it just like made me uh it just made me
understand certain things in life.
You know what I'm saying?
It made me understand like
the value of freedom.
You know what I'm saying?
I don't think a lot of people understand
how blessed they are to just wake up
and do whatever they want to do.
Well, let's slow you down from
and I'll see in interviews where you, like,
I go to store, it'd be 20 of us.
Everybody gets an Avericks and everybody gets a pair of jeans
and then everybody gets a shirt.
Will that stop you from doing that?
Were those 20 people still there
when you were locked up or you realized,
They ain't definitely like that.
Yeah, no.
Yeah.
That is, yeah, that is definitely, the crazy thing is,
if they were there, it would probably be the same mentality.
No exaggeration, you know what I'm saying?
If they were there, it would be the same mentality.
I'll probably be, you know.
Let's get it.
Let's get it.
Like, we back on, you know what I'm saying?
But, you know, when you be behind that wall, man,
everybody's show you who they are.
You know what I'm saying?
You want their time now.
You know what I'm saying?
And you got to just take it how you want, you know what I'm saying?
You want their time.
So if they don't feel like doing it, it's done.
And if they don't do it, well, he ain't coming home no time soon.
Was the industry there for you when you were locked up?
Like who?
Artists, label, people, family.
Family included?
Family?
Yeah, my family was there.
Industry?
Not too much. Not too much.
No, man.
Let me see.
Oh, Coilet.
Coilet.
Corle ray.
50 cent
Chief Keith
How, though?
In like in what way?
When you say they were there for you, like, what was it?
Each of them.
Like, what did Corey do?
Well, Corey, she actually helped me out with a record.
I had put out an album called King Zoo.
Right?
And she actually, she featured on the record.
She did a whole TikTok thing for me.
And she just did it off the love.
It was like, all right, Fetti, I got you, don't worry you.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
And she, you know, she pushed that as if it was her own record.
So, like, things like that, I could, I never, like, I won't even, I don't even know how to thank her for that, you know what I'm saying?
Because she didn't have to do that.
She was already, she already, she's doing her thing, you know what I'm saying?
You know, and she's from Jersey.
So that was even more like, like, damn, like, they have, like, this theory with people from Jersey where we like to pull each other down.
So for her to help lift me up in my time with darkness, it was like, thank you a lot, you know what I'm saying.
I'll be out too, you know what I'm saying?
I'll be at, man.
You said 50.
What did 50 do?
Man, 50?
Huh.
So I don't even know where to start with him.
50 did a lot for me.
You know what I'm saying?
From day one, it was like he reached out like,
yo, whatever you need, just holl at me.
You know what I'm saying?
And I'm like, all, all, all, all.
And then it was like, where is money going?
I'm like, what?
You know what I'm used to that?
I'm used to, it's always the other way around.
You know what I'm saying?
Send me the money here, yeah.
Yeah, so it was just like, it was nothing.
Like, he, whatever I needed, he was right there.
Like, he answered the phone.
He, he, he didn't shy you off, you know what I'm saying?
All the way down to the time I'm about to come home.
He said, yo, how you're getting home and stuff like that?
You know what I'm saying?
So, like, if anything, like, as far as, as far as financial and, like, mental, like, help,
he was probably there the biggest.
That's old.
Yeah.
I know 50 was like helping you diversify like income and different things like that as well too.
What were there conversations like about when Fetty Wap comes home, 50 cents giving you what advice of like here's what you should be doing business why because the industry has changed so much.
I can't curse, right?
Yeah, you curse.
Yeah, you curse.
Yeah.
Hey, yo, stop fucking up.
You know what I'm saying?
You should have never stopped making music.
Like, you should have kept going hard.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
That's 50 going, 50 going, he's going to say what he wants to say.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
He ain't got no filter.
So, it was good.
It was, everything he told me, it was just like, you know what I'm saying, just get back to it.
Like, don't waste no time this time.
You only got this, this, this my last chance, you know what I'm saying?
Whatever that sounds to people.
But, you know, if you're in this industry, you know what that means, you know what
saying?
So you got to make it count.
I remember the interview you did with, I think it was academics before you had one,
Yeah.
And you was talking about, you know, going broke.
What did going broke after making multimillion dollars teach you?
See, that's crazy because, you know, that was like clickbait.
You know, if you actually rewatch the interview, I never said that I was going broke.
I just said it was slowing down.
You know what I'm saying?
It's a big difference.
I said you fucked all your money up, baby.
Yeah, it was a big difference.
No, I was just basically like saying, I was telling him how,
I felt the transition from being 2015-2016 Fettywop to being 2017-2018 Fettywap.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's just like, I guess the way they broke it up and put it together, it was like, damn, like, but I get it though.
You know what I'm saying?
Like it is what it is.
You blame yourself for that at all?
What, that transition?
The transition from 16 to 17.
Yeah.
Wow.
For the most part, man.
I just, you know what I mean?
I was young.
man I was real young I was young
hot-headed and you know what I'm saying
I was just
pro to gods man like you know what I'm saying
like if it ain't me in my
if it ain't me and my niggas ain't nothing
you know I mean straight like that
you know I didn't show up to a few things
we didn't talk about that
we ain't talk about that
but no truthfully though man
truthfully man I just you know
I had to grow up man you know what I was
still I was I was young
with all that money man like just
having fun making sure everybody eat and making sure everybody you know what I'm saying like
like how I'm shunning you know what I'm saying they told me a story the other day actually they
said you you pull up to uh sneaker store in Patterson right sneaker palace you pull up there and you buy
50 pairs of sneakers yeah and it'd be like you'd have you'd have 10 cars 10 of your cars outside
yeah somebody driving a different car and you all get in and just drive to Atlantic City and
gamble and going to party all night and nobody else paid for everything and they was like
Fetti would pay for everything.
They said they did this
damn there every weekend.
And there'd be a time where
like you didn't like to fly
because they were like
then you would drive to Atlanta.
I'm scared as hell of flying.
Even though?
Yeah.
Damn.
Oh, it's just trust me.
The last time I was on the plane
before I came home,
I was shackled, ankles and wrists.
And I'm like that shit.
Yeah.
That's another thing.
Like I told, I kept telling myself.
I said, look, man,
fuck first class.
They let me out right now.
You can put me in 52 F in the middle C.
Hey, y'all good?
We had a thing?
anything you know what I'm gonna get a little bag of peanuts
some shit like no you too big now
you can't sit all the way back there
no yeah they didn't they made the plane small on the back
they try to make more money more seats
your shoulder's too big for that shit at this point
yeah man so outside of like showing up for things
bit like when you get back to like the business of
fettie what else are you going to do differently like label
because you said there was like some issues with
the label was that the RGF
um yeah with some issues with the label
you know what I'm saying
And this is like the best way I could put that without like getting to that whole thing.
Like I said, I don't like to bash nobody.
And I like to have conversations while the other person is present to kind of, you know what I'm saying?
Money complicates family.
And when it gets to a point where how can I say that?
It's just like money complicates things, you know?
That's the best way I could put it.
Like, you know what I mean?
Without getting it all deep into it.
But yeah, money complicates a lot of things.
So with that being said, you know, a lot of people,
a lot of things didn't go right because of a certain situation.
So that was just like, that's one of the biggest things as far as the Feddy Wops side with the label.
But other than that, man, I'm still, you know, I'm still, I'm just ready to make music, you know.
I do, I do hate.
when we do that to art.
Because I know you're ready to make music
because you want to get back to it,
but man, there's still a part of you
that just has to be a human first.
Like, you just put your boots back on the ground.
You know what?
It's got family.
Like, I don't know.
What was the hardest truth you had to face
while you were locked up?
I lived in my truth, man.
Like, I didn't, I don't know.
I just, you know what I'm saying?
Like, where I come from,
I'm from Patterson, right?
You know what I'm saying?
I'm from Paterson, New Jersey, man.
Like, you know what I mean?
You make your baby out late.
So it wasn't, when it happened, it was like, all right, whatever, whatever.
Like, let's just get this shit over.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, it wasn't like, damn, I wish I could have did this or did that because I did it once.
And that's what I chose to do.
I know what the consequences.
I know what was going to come with it.
So that was that.
Do you think you understand the lesson God might have been teaching you?
Yeah.
You know it for sure.
Yeah, for sure.
You want to share it?
Take advantage of your blessings,
I'm giving them to you.
You know, this time we're gonna,
I'm gonna show you what can happen
you keep playing around.
You know what I'm saying?
Next time might not be so lucky.
Are you staying away from Patterson?
No.
You're out of Patterson.
Or are you going back home?
Of course.
You don't have to, I feel like that theory is flawed.
What you mean?
When they say, oh, if you go back,
home this can happen that can happen it only happens if you're allowed if you're a weak man
weak shit gonna happen to you what I'm saying you stand on business stand on business
you know I mean so I don't I don't follow crowds I lead them you know man I wasn't I wasn't
the Remy boys I'm fattie Wop hey you know I'm saying like I'm saying I'm saying no disrespect
to my guys but yeah I'm not the follower I'm the leader have you spoke to the guys
yeah I spoke to a few of them I spoke to the ones who spoke to me when I've been there
Did you have to forgive yourself for anything in order to come home free just mentally?
I really, it's not more so me forgiving myself.
I just hope in the future that my kids forgive me.
Yeah, that's more so.
Like, you know, I took a lot of time from them.
And four years a long time, you see your kids go from here to here.
You know what I'm saying?
And it's just like, I miss birthday.
I miss Christmas.
I miss doctor's appointments.
I miss daddy's school,
back daddy day at school and shit like that.
Basketball games,
dances.
Basketball games,
football games.
My son,
first day of high school,
stuff like that,
you know what I'm saying?
Most I just hope they forgive me.
Have you spoke to them?
Yeah,
like your older kids?
Yeah, I spoke to the older ones.
Yeah.
Do they forgive you?
Man,
I think they're just happy right now.
They don't really understand yet.
I thought they're not even understand.
Yeah,
I don't think they really understand.
But, you know,
they, for a while we just tried to play this, uh,
daddy's away and then, you know,
after, it's like, come on, they got phones.
After about 30 days, like, all right, now, mom, we ain't stupid.
Yeah, you know, the phones and, you know, they're on social media.
So, you know, like, daddies, we're daddy in jail?
You know, like that, so.
How do you separate who you were from who the world still thinks you are?
Hmm.
Um, I guess I'll just separate about a time, like, separated by Tom.
Like, separated by Tom.
time time either is going to fix everything or it's just going to make it worse you know what I'm saying so
for me I feel like this time away fixed a lot of things from you know what I'm saying especially with me
and my family me and my sister like we always had each other back know that's my gym twin you know what
saying she June 6 I'm June 7 you know what I'm saying uh my baby sister too you know what I'm saying
my older brother like commissary every week you know what I'm saying even if I ain't
I didn't even need it.
I really didn't even need it.
Like, but, you know, any phone call,
I might just be going,
I just might be going through something.
I'm calling, you know what you think?
What you think they're going on?
You think they're still going to rock me
when I get home?
You know what I'm saying?
Like, you know how you say?
You know, how you say, if I leave the game,
you're still going to love me.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, and then just learning myself, man.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, that detoxing, that detoxing,
you know, getting your body together,
especially working out, working out.
working out kind of like kind of got me together a lot too you know that discipline like being
that like I don't feel like doing it but still getting it done like uh just watching just learning
from the old heads in there you know what I'm saying I was down with a few homies that's you know
that's not coming home no time soon you know what I'm saying really probably no time ever
depending on if they outlast the years I mean outlast the sentence and you know I got a lot of
wisdom from them and they all like you know the way you carry yourself little bro like you know
saying where you carry yourself i don't really let everybody love bro me but you know certain people
that i respect you know i mean i call them big bro and they just the way you carry yourself the way
you move i'm saying i see the way you move through here you ain't you ain't you ain't fully yourself
you don't think you're the shit and you know what i'm saying like when you get out there man like
like like like do it for the gods but i don't want to see you back in here man yeah like you
like you got a lot of shit to look out to and then you know a lot of people hey hey hey hey hey
guess what i'm in here with you know what i'm with freddie hey oh tell them to send me a picture
So, you know, I'm taking pictures for the guys.
We send her autographs and shit like that.
And, hey, man, my daughter, man, they, man, I'm like, man, I ain't even know your daughter knew I was.
You know what I said?
They're younger now, you know what I mean?
So it was just like every time I start to feel like, I don't know if it's going to be.
It is, hey, yo, man, somebody's in there.
I'm like, where?
Then, like, I remember in 2025, like the type of 2025 that was doing, like the again thing with the JBL speaker.
And it was like that.
My sister, hey, trending.
I'm like, how do what I do now?
Like, you know what I do? Like, what I do?
Like, I'm in trouble with some shit.
But it's just like,
every time I started feeling down
or feeling like,
like, it wasn't going to be nothing for me
when I come home.
Something always reminded me, man.
Like, so like I said,
either time, going to either fix it or make it worse.
So for me,
Tom made everything better for me.
You know, at your peak,
everything was moving fast, right?
But then when you in prison,
everything stops.
How did that shift your sense of purpose?
Um, it was much needed.
Uh, it was much needed, uh, for sure.
Definitely much needed.
And a lot of people say, I'm crazy for that, you know what I'm saying?
But you got one day, you're downtown selling CDs, trying to make a name for yourself.
And then you got another day you're on, you're on stage with Taylor Swift.
Hmm.
You know what I'm saying?
And then it's like, you do so much, everything was a blur.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, I was moving so fast half the times.
I don't even have pictures of everything I did.
I'm like, hey, send me pictures.
You ain't got nothing?
Like, you know what I'm saying?
So it's like, all right, let me see where I went wrong over here or what I did
this and you start to, you know, you just take mental notes.
Like, you learn yourself, man.
Like you learn yourself.
Like I said, you either going to get better or you're going to get worse.
You know what I'm saying?
You're going to give up on yourself or you're going to go hard for yourself.
You know what I'm saying?
So for me, it just was like, I got to go harder, man.
Like, I can't, this can't be it for me right here.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
like ain't no way I'm about to just come home and just go get a job or some shit like you know what I'm saying
like I'm not going to target like you know what I mean like I got to do what I'm saying if I got a if I got a
man up and take responsibility for the shit that I did to make to get me in this position I'm going to do that
you know what I did how did 300 treat you I seen you you uh went to 300 yesterday how was that
reception yeah man you know it's it's love man I've been with them for for 11 years oh shit no it was
It's the beginning, right?
For 12 years now.
Yeah, we've been together for 12.
But everybody left 300 when you did, though.
Not the same people are there, right?
Rain and Salim still there.
Rain and Salim still there.
I think if I'm not mistaken, I don't want to miss,
but I think they're like the president or something like that.
Yes, Salim just, I think he just got promoted, didn't he?
Yeah, my trip?
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, man.
So now what's your mind frame with doing music now?
Is it, one time you went straight street?
The other time it was crossover and party in music.
So what's Fettie's feeling now?
I don't have a, I don't have a genre, man.
Like, whatever I feel, I'll just do it.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I don't really have like a, I don't want to be.
In a box.
Yeah, like, I don't want to be like that guy.
You know what I'm saying?
If it sound good, if it feel good, I'm going to do it.
Like, it's all up to the people's reception of it, of course.
You know what I'm saying?
But I don't try to just stay, you know what I mean?
because what I feel like personally,
I feel like when you become a certain kind of artist,
you have to follow a certain kind of movement, you know what I'm saying?
So if you're a gangster artist, you've got to be a gangster all day.
If you're a trap artist, you got to really trap about this.
You know what I mean?
You got to really know what you're talking about.
If you're a pop artist, you know what I'm saying?
You can't be, you know what I mean?
Like you can't be, certain things you do.
like but with me is like you know even when when i'm like when i'm in prison you know a lot of people
listen to the songs and they like ain't no way it's the same dude that's singing these songs like
you know what i'm saying just by the way i carry myself but then it's where i come from you know what
a lot of people misconcept the artist for the person so they're they thinking like oh he he's singing
and you know what's saying he probably this way and they it was good it was popping where the
god's at you know what what this this fuddywop
You know what I'm saying?
Like, so for me, I don't want to be in a box.
I don't want to be.
I just want to be a great artist, man.
Did your voice ever change?
I think the first project to the second project,
it felt like your voice changed a little bit.
Yeah, for sure.
Was that for something you did on purpose,
or was it from drinking and smoking?
That shit just came from getting older.
You hit puberty, sir?
Word, man.
I was, you know what I'm saying?
Like, there was certain ranges and shit.
I couldn't, it's kind of hard down.
But, um, hmm.
I think more so, more so for me, it was just like,
I was trying to find a way to just do something different.
You know what I'm saying?
Because trying to follow these songs was damnly impossible.
I'm stressing myself out trying to make another six, seven, nine,
try to make another mile, try to make another mile away,
try to make another trap queen.
It's like, this shit's not going to happen, bro.
It's just, it is what it is.
You know what I'm saying?
And the way they built, like the way that the songs are hyped up,
like I can't.
It's like, you know what I mean?
It's a lot of people don't get a trap queen record.
So trying to follow that shit is like damn near impossible.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm not saying it is, but that's tough, man.
Like that feeling, like the shit I was going through at that time, you know what I mean?
I wasn't going through that no more.
You know, like a lot of that plays a role.
And, you know, like a lot of things I'll be saying, like, you know when you follow artists from the beginning.
And once they pop, you kind of like,
I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I don't relate to that.
And it was like, the same thing happened with me.
You know what I'm saying?
It was just like, when we're doing trap queen,
this is real shit.
Like, man, like, you know what I'm saying?
We, we outside.
You know what I mean?
We're looking through the little,
we look at through, we look at through social thing.
You like that, let me.
I like that one.
If I could get this one, I would get it in this color.
You know, we like that until then it went to which one of these you want.
You know what I'm saying?
We're going to take both of them.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, like,
Life changes, so life experience change, so music change.
So it was like from the Fetty Wop album towards the butterfly effect,
you know, I was going through a lot of shit, a lot of personal things was happening.
So when the butterfly effect, it was more so me telling my story than trying to make a hit record.
Gotcha.
Yeah.
So what do you, coming back to music, what do you focus on?
Because people want the hit, but you got a lot of life to talk about at this point.
It's been years.
I mean, honestly, I don't feel like that's important.
Like, I did my time.
You know what I'm saying?
I did my time.
It's a lot of rappers that went to jail.
I mean, I hate to say it like that.
They came home, man.
You know what I'm saying?
If they chose to talk about their jail, shit, that's dumb.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, me, I did my time with the guys in there.
You know what I'm saying?
And they all, bro, leadership behind you.
When you walk out, leave it.
You know what I'm saying?
You want to know what my evenings actually look like?
Homework questions.
Someone needs a permission slip signed.
The dog's begging for a walk.
Someone's yelling for a snack.
And somewhere in the middle of all that,
I'm supposed to figure out dinner?
That's why HelloFresh has been a lifesaver.

Hi, I'm Dr. Priyankawali.
And I'm Hurricane de Bolu.
It's a new year.
And on the podcast's Health Stuff, we're resetting the way we talk about our health.
Which means being honest about what we know, what we don't know, and how messy it can all be.
I like to sleep in late and sleep early.
Is there a chronotype for that or am I just depressed?
We talk to experts who share real experiences and insight.
You just really need to find where it is that you can.
can have an impact in your own life and just start doing that. We break down the topics you want to
know more about. Sleep, stress, mental health, and how the world around us affects our overall health.
We talk about all the ways to keep your body in mind, inside and out, healthy. We human beings,
all we want is connection. We just want to connect with each other. Health stuff is about learning,
laughing, and feeling a little less alone. Listen on the I-heart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get
your podcasts.
Hello, I'm Jorge Ramos.
This week, on the moment, we take a look at Venezuela's uncertain future in a conversation
with two people who have directly advised U.S. presidents.
Juan Gonzalez, during the Obama and Biden administrations.
We're really good at invading countries.
We're very bad at nation building.
In Carlos D.Rosillo, during Trump's, two terms.
I can guarantee you that nobody in the Trump administration likes Del Cid Rodriguez.
Listen to the moment with Jorge Ramos and Paola Ramos on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcast,
or whatever you get your podcasts.
We're trying to see you on TV.
Everybody want to, listen, I'm going to tell you y'all something in jail.
There's three things that you don't turn the TV from.
Sports, news, love, and hip-hop.
That's just the three things in jail you don't turn the TV from,
so it might happen to you, you know what I'm saying?
But, you know, that's just, we want to see you on TV,
bro, we're trying to hear you on the radio.
I know, bro, like, 20 days, I want to hear something new on the computer,
you know what I'm saying?
Like, this is the type of thing.
motivation I was having so I don't I don't I don't to come home and to talk about that
shit is it's it's pointless I did my time in it you know what I'm saying it possible
like because I'm wondering like will you're writing change now that you've lived such a
real life consequence instead of success I guess I wouldn't say it'll change I guess
it's always going to change especially when you're trying to be creative but more so I
I just feel like
I just feel like
I appreciate music more
I appreciate life more
like
just checking out
going to 7-11 for a bottle of water
you know what I'm saying
like I appreciate everything
just to even just sit here
without
you know what I mean
I visit over
you know what I'm saying
like shit like that
you know what I'm saying for real
so I mean you're watching your people
walk out the sign you looking at that exit time like damn i can't wait till it's my turn you feel
what i'm saying so it's like i just appreciate everything man like i don't i'm never going
forget it you know what i'm saying i ain't gonna never forget it but i'm not i'm not trying to
make that my focal point like you know what i'm saying i don't want nobody to feel bad for me i'm
known for making we're gonna have fun when these shit's come on everybody want to grab a damn i
remember what i was doing at this time that i'm trying to keep that yeah i don't want that oh he's
talking i i live this shit for real like and if anybody that
that was locked up with me there, I tell you, like, bro stood on business.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
I wasn't in there playing around.
You feel me?
So it was just like, I'm, I'm chilling.
Would there ever a moment, you know, it was so noisy in your life before you went in?
Was there ever a moment when you was in prison where you fell in love with the silence?
Yeah, for sure.
Definitely.
I think I told my sister that a few times, too.
Yeah, I just like, man, I want to say, wait, what, wait, what, yeah,
was that.
2014,
I think I did,
I think I did
$6,7 on my birthday
in 2014.
That was the year
we signed a deal
with 300,
I think like
around November
or September
or something like that.
I don't remember
nothing else
besides getting sentenced.
Like,
from there was just,
a blur.
Yeah.
Wow.
Like,
I really,
I think the,
the earliest thing
I remember
was softball
itself was
and the next thing
I know it was like, all right, I'm going to go to jail.
Like, for real, like, it was just like that.
So it's like, like, damn, the widow, I was just 23 years old.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I'm in my 30s now, mid-30s, like, shit's crazy.
You know what I'm saying?
Looking at my son, I'm like, well, you was only five years old
when all this shit was happening.
You know what I'm saying?
Like that, so it's just like, man, everything just happened so quick.
It was just crazy.
You know, the Bible script.
I think it's Psalm 40, 6, 10, be still and know that I am God.
Nobody, I know people probably said that to you, when you said you fell in love with the silence a little bit.
Yeah.
I mean, I just, I don't know.
It just felt good to just hear myself think for a second.
Slow it down.
Just take control of my own life, you know what I'm saying?
How are you going to keep that going now?
Because like once things start going and you're moving around,
and you're touring and all this stuff,
like the noise is going to come.
It comes with a celebrity life.
Oh, trust me, it's loud in prison.
It's live.
As long as they pop them doors, it's live.
You know what I mean?
You just gotta, whether it be,
you got your workout team, you know what I'm saying?
We hit the yard at a certain time.
Now, I mean, we're gonna get our money.
Oh, you got, you just, you know,
you're in your saddle or your bunk and you just,
you know what I'm man, yo, look,
holl at me later.
You know what I'm gonna, like,
they're gonna respect it,
You know what you make them respected.
So it's kind of like the same thing for me,
except this time I'm just going to go in the house.
Like, I'm going to the crib.
I don't feel like talking and take my phone.
Oh, that's just that simple.
How did time, the time away change your relationship with fame?
I mean, I think everybody know I didn't really care about being famous.
I don't think that was like a secret.
I didn't, I don't, that's, that was never to go.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, that was never to go.
I just wanted to make everybody
I just wanted to get a Ferrari
I said
And you got a few of those
You know
Ferrari being loved
He's all types of shit
Lamboats all types of
That's it
I just wanted a Ferrari
You know what I'm saying
I was gonna Ferrari
You bought your mama house
Yeah for sure
Yeah man
They said you used to ride
The motorcycles in the Atlanta house
Yeah
How do you know that
They said they used to ride
The motorcycles in the Atlanta house
Like my dirt bikes
Yeah
We used to ride through the house
Oh how much did you have
your account at the peak of everything.
Like what number did you look at?
You're like, God, damn, at the peak of everything,
how much did you have in your account?
A lot.
It was a lot.
It was a lot.
Like hundreds of millions, 10 millions?
I don't know.
Tens of millions.
Tens of millions.
I'm still trying to get to 100.
Tens of millions.
Yeah, I had a few.
I had a few others.
All right.
What part of your old lifestyle do you not want back,
even if the money is?
It's there with it.
The feeling the need to take care of everybody.
Everybody don't deserve me, man.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I'm a real loyal person.
I'm loyal to a fault in the sense,
and I'm loyal to the court.
When I love you, I love you to death.
Like, you'm saying?
I go to the end of the world for you.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, it ain't nothing I won't do for nobody I love.
So that part of me, I don't miss it at all.
yeah I block him out
that was one of the main
I guess you could say
no I'm a Geminae so
that other side of me I blocked him out
and definitely it's over with it for that shit
like I don't I don't feel like I owe nobody
nothing I did it all already
you just got home yesterday right
uh
on this
Wednesday
it's been like 48 hours right
yeah
7th
what is it like
it's a lot real fast
this is a lot real fast
two days it feel like you've been here for about
Three weeks.
Yeah, for sure.
Did you even get some chicks yet?
No.
Oh.
Why are you all in this bad thing?
You're just asking that y'all ain't even letting the band breathe.
That was like such a weird random party.
Why is that weird?
I saw Maseka tweeting about, yeah, that whole situation.
You see that?
She wanted that segue,
I was going to ask a question regardless.
You all in his bedroom.
But, I mean, okay, so I'm asking you.
I saw her tweet about disappointment.
And I know you guys have a,
daughter together like what's the plan for you or her moving forward because that gets loud i appreciate her
for you know i appreciate her for making sure she making sure that my daughter knew that i love her
she didn't she didn't try to keep her away at this time you know during that time i was damn uh
you know whenever i call for her she let me talk to her you know i mean i don't got nothing bad to say
about her.
So
whatever, I don't know.
I'm not really a social media
person. Would you jump back on the
reality show? Would you do that?
I promise my guys I'll do it
for them.
Loving hip-hop is on his way.
You know what I'm saying? That's not
nothing that I would have chosen for myself.
But like I said, when you
down, you just like,
damn, I should have did that, man.
You know what I'm saying? Like, it's just a whole bunch of things.
You just wish you should have did.
But yeah, as far as that situation, I don't have
nothing bad to say by nobody.
How do you plan to break cycles, man?
You know what I'm saying?
Like, not just financially, but emotionally and spiritually.
Yeah.
I guess just, like I said, man, with time, man.
Like, I know it's probably like a, like a, like a, like a, like a corny answer, but
like, like, I don't know how to explain that to you.
Like, I really don't know how to make it sound like how I feel about it.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, just to have time to just.
It's just, it's a wonderful feeling, man.
Like, it's a lot of people waiting for their time to come, you know, to come home to
to be back with their family.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Or, like, when you want to visit floor and you keep looking at the clock, like,
all right, time, what's up?
Like, that word is powerful, bro.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, to have time is a lot, so to take advantage of it.
So, you know what I'm saying?
Like, to end my cycles, I'm going to do it with time.
Like, when time comes great things for me, like, and I know,
that no matter what like I haven't had a I haven't had a single besides the yams things in 10
years bro you know what I'm saying and somehow some way every year one of them songs just get
do y'all remember when we used to scream 17 30 like somehow some way something happens where
they where's fettie like you know what I'm saying and it just like like damn I had to ask myself like
bro where you at you know what I'm saying with and with time I
I figured that question out.
What kind of example are you most intentional about setting, not at your home?
Honestly, I just want to, like, show kids, like, especially kids with disabilities.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, kids with disabilities, kids that's less fortunate, kids that, like, grew up without their
pops or grew up without their moms or grew up in a foster kid that, you know what I'm saying,
it's nothing impossible.
You know what I'm saying?
like I wasn't supposed to be able to drive, let alone even see.
I was born with congenital glaucoma, you know what I'm saying?
It was supposed to affect both of my eyes, you know what I'm saying?
But they save one.
So like, I really want to do like a foundation for kids that's like to better them with whatever the disability may be.
You know what I'm saying?
Of course, you know, I fight for the for the blindness.
You know what I'm saying?
that's just, you know, it's quite obvious why.
But I just want to set an example that, you know,
no matter what you go through and like, like,
you don't have to let that define you.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, for years, you know, some people are going to say,
oh, well, he went to jail and, you know what I mean?
You got some people that, that remembers me from the music,
you know what I'm saying?
But you have to set the standard.
You have to kind of narrate what you're going to be
or who you're going to be.
So I just want to, like, I just want to be there for the people
that don't got nobody.
You know what I'm saying?
And if I could do that,
then I feel like, you know, I did a lot.
I mean, one of the doping stories I heard,
I don't know if it's true,
but you said you used to wear the prosthetic eye,
but you stopped because you wanted to embrace the natural look.
Yeah, for sure.
Definitely.
When we got your statement when you first came home,
I posted it.
And the biggest feedback that I got from, like,
the audience who, like, pays attention when I'm posting the stories
is people really appreciated that the first thing you talked about
was doing stuff for kids
and what you wanted to do with your community and the foundation
and not music.
Like, people were like, we love that.
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's just like,
first of all, I have kids myself.
And like I said, I was, I missed a lot of their life,
you know what I'm saying?
I missed a lot of, to me, important parts of their life.
Even if I see phone calls, like, sometimes it's not enough.
You know what I'm saying?
So, and then like to, to, before that,
I'm running so much, like I'm doing so much
that I really wasn't making time for my own kids, you know what I'm saying?
And I feel like, I feel like, you know, I was fucked up for that.
You know what I'm saying?
No matter how I try to justify, oh, I needed to get the money,
so we've got the money that might be good.
I could make sure they always got rid of it.
It doesn't matter, you know what I'm saying?
One thing I learned that the most important thing you could do for these kids
is give them time.
You know what I'm saying?
Like there's nothing bigger.
and time and showing up,
and, you know what I'm saying?
Just come here, let's watch Frozen.
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
You want to learn how to throw football?
Let's go throw the football.
Buying them shit ain't going to do it.
You know what I'm saying?
You're just going to be the nigga with the money.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Is time going to be the name of the new album?
That sounds fired, but no, I can't do that.
No, time is just something that means a lot to me, man.
Like, that's just, it just,
I learned a lot within these few years,
especially about myself, about how I want to approach certain things.
And when it comes to helping the kids, man, like,
it's something I always did anyway.
Yeah.
You know, I'm just, like I said, I'm real private,
and maybe it's a bad thing, you know what I mean?
Because, you know, I had that mind state, like,
damn, why you got to post everything?
Like, I used to always say that to be like,
why they always got to post it if they're doing the shit from the heart, you know what I'm saying?
And, like, I kind of understand now,
like, maybe some people want to see it, some people don't.
But for me, everybody knows me.
Like, I pull up all the kids around, everybody getting $100.
Like, little stuff like that.
It was back-to-school jobs.
We do back-to-school drives every year.
You know what I'm saying?
Breast and peace of my cousin Jay.
Like, we did the back-to-school drives every year, J-Day.
We do, like, 2,000 book bags, sneakers, and school supplies without a post.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, this is what we do.
Like, there's no secret to the community, but it's a secret to the world.
So it's like for me helping the kids is something that I always been
You know what I mean?
I know how I felt to go to school with some fucked up sneakers
I knew how I felt like damn I don't really want to wear this
Because I just had it's like I've been wearing the same jeans for three days
You know what I'm saying like I know that feeling I know that feeling of
Like getting laughed at and stuff like that you know what I'm saying
So when it came to when it was my turn instead of me being there for for my little ones you know what I'm saying
I'm thinking let me make sure they all fly his head like you
You know what I'm saying?
So they don't have to, you don't got to worry about that feeling.
You know what I'm saying?
Just give me good grades.
And, no, it's a bigger gap than that.
You know what I mean?
So just that, just to be there and, you know, let them see you.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, let them see you.
Let them be next to you.
Like, yo, can I sit in the car?
My door open.
Go ahead.
Bro knows.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, my door is, go ahead.
Send the car, take your pictures, do what you want.
You can stand on top of this motherfucker.
I don't care.
It's just a material item, you know what I'm saying?
So I just want to be the best of me
I could be for whoever that's going to appreciate me.
I feel like in a way, man,
I got, you know, of course prison takes years from your life,
but I feel like it also gave you the clarity
to finally own your life.
Yeah, for sure.
In the right way.
Yeah, for sure.
I definitely agree with you on that.
Yeah, well, we appreciate you for joining us, man.
And I can't wait to hear new music.
I know you ain't got nothing now, right?
No, just double-checking, man.
Keep us posting on the foundation work, too.
The foundation work.
Sure, I appreciate you.
Thank you.
Absolutely.
Well, I do got a couple more questions.
How do you protect your freedom now?
Like, I mean mentally, I mean financially,
I mean spiritually, like, how do you protect that freedom?
Oh, yeah.
Like I said, man, turn our phone off.
Give yourself, it's just saying we got in jail, right?
If you could watch TV for an hour, you could do anything for an hour.
So out of jail, of course, we don't have to be.
be at certain things at certain times.
Give yourself two hours a day for yourself.
Go in there, close the door,
meditate, whatever. That's what you
went to, meditate. I don't know.
Do some yoga or some shit. I don't know. I don't know how
to do yoga and shit. I'm not flexible
and shit. But for me, I like
pull-ups. That's what I do.
I like meditation and pull-ers. Yeah. That's what I, that's
how I, that's my thing.
I throw the headphones on, put the music on.
Do pull-ups.
Whenever I'm up there, I don't count, I think.
I just go. I'm, all right,
This is right.
Like, get down.
Like, boom, walk around.
Next, you know what I mean?
We're in the line.
And every time I hit it, I'll just think about something else, you know what I'm saying?
Then I go back, I sit down, you know, take my shower.
All right, this is what we're going to do.
I'm going to do this.
I'm going to do this.
You know, just you got to find time for yourself to give yourself time to do things.
You know what I'm saying?
So that's basically how I could keep my freedom.
Do you believe the system, the prison system, is designed for rehabilitation or just survival?
The outside prison system or inside?
Inside.
Hmm.
I don't know if I could talk about that.
Like, I don't know if I could talk about that.
But my personal experience, if I had to give you an answer, it would be no.
Yeah.
Well, not at all.
How did, I guess what I'm, of course you survived, but how did you kind of rehabilitate yourself?
Because I'm seeing a, I feel an older, wiser Fetty.
Like, so what did you do?
You said exercise.
Yeah.
Uh, I like to learn shit, man.
So I talk to a lot of the old heads.
You know, like, what you did?
How you fuck up?
You know what I'm saying?
What you did wrong?
You know what I'm saying?
What you did wrong again?
Then you hear, like, they got classes.
Like, so the state prison and federal prison is two different things.
You know what I'm saying?
So in federal prison, the prisoners run the jail.
You know what I'm saying?
As far as, let me rephrase that because I'm like, get it out wrong.
The prisoners run the programs in jail.
So if you're like taking classes, like I got my GED in prison.
Congratulations.
Thank you.
No.
I did that.
They have like stock classes or like, what is it called, S&P Fortune, something like that,
S&P 500s.
And they teach you about the Billinger, top Billinger thing, bottom Billinger, all of that stuff.
If that's what you went to, they got whatever you want.
If you want to learn Spanish, you can go in there and learn Spanish.
If you don't know Spanish, you want to learn English.
You go on there and learn English.
It's ways to better yourself.
But the actual system, no, it's fucked up.
And it's got to be more fucked up for people who were actually rich and famous.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like, totally different experience.
And that's a thing I always say too.
Like, you know, that part of being in jail was always the worst part for me.
Because you're not coming, like, no matter.
matter what spot I was at, you don't just come in and, you know, get yourself together.
They know I was coming before I even knew I was going there.
Like, people knew I was coming weeks before I even landed on the, before I landed on the
yard.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's like, all right, let's just get this, let's just get this shit straight to the point,
honey.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
I'm not about to be singing for nobody.
We ain't about to be yellow 1738.
You know what I'm saying?
But you know what I mean?
Like, no, you just
You just be a man.
You know what I'm saying?
Be a man, man, man.
They're going to respect it, man.
They're going to respect it.
What do people misunderstand
about incarceration
if they've never experienced it?
Oh, hmm.
Wait, ask me the question.
What do people misunderstand about incarceration
if they've never experienced it?
I think people think
jail is like
old jail.
When I say that,
like I don't know if people ever watch like the show the Oz
like that like shit like that like the jail's not like that
no more it ain't like that no more don't get me wrong it's
violent it's hell definitely violent but
state prison and federal prison is way different
like it's way way way different like it's way way different
it's like goddamn government in there it's politics
you know what I mean you got you this person you run with these people
with you this you run with them and you can't even do nothing you can't even do nothing without
asking this dude and he got to go out of access and then it's crazy it's different people misunderstand
like you don't just go to jail and just think I don't know I don't even know how to answer that
but you know I don't want to tell nobody to go to jail you know what I'm saying but if you want to
figure out what it's like go to jail what I'm saying what does redemption actually look like for you
Uh, loving of my kids, man.
Word.
Yeah.
Loving on my kids.
I just want, you know, when, when, when, when, when I'm able to just, come on, let's go.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm in there watching.
I never been on a cruise before.
And I just seen, like, I was, I was, every day the commercial come on.
Yeah, that's funny.
Max Beach just said the same thing.
When he just left.
He was like, yo, I can't with go on the cruise.
Yeah.
Like, that's something you just, it'd be little shit like that.
Like, I swear, when I was home, uh,
Chick-fil-A didn't have mac and cheese yet.
And so every day Chick-fil-A show mac and ronnie and cheese.
I'm like, what the fuck?
Damn, I got to get some macaroni and cheese.
Did you try some already?
Nah, I haven't been.
But, you know, it's like little things like that, you know what I'm saying?
So, man, like, I just want to love on the kids, man.
That's what my redemption felt like.
I get them.
I want to go on a cruise.
I want to take them to Aspen in the winter, get a cabin, do the hot chocolate shit.
I want to take them to Norway so they can see the water.
I want to take them to Norway.
Everywhere.
Like Florence, my favorite place I've ever been was Florence.
I want to take them there so we go get some real Italian food.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Just, I just want to experience this shit with them.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like I said, like they deserve, they deserve me.
You know what I mean?
Everything I gave these niggas, all them 20 cars that I let everybody drive.
And we out at Atlantic City all this time.
And, you know what I'm saying?
I'm telling myself, oh, no, I'm getting the money so everything good.
I could do this.
I deserve.
that's that's bullshit you know what I'm saying even when it comes down to what you asked me
earlier as far as my daughter's mom like you know like no matter what happens as a man you
stand up so it doesn't matter what what anybody says about me you know what I'm saying like
you take care of my you take care of my kids I'm gonna love you forever it doesn't matter
like you know what I'm saying and I appreciate each one of my kids moms you know they
healthy they all in school they all breathing they're all doing anything you know what I'm saying
like and uh you know oh yeah and I want to say I appreciate uh my daughter Lauren's mother too
she was she was there at the beginning of this uh bit for me you know when she didn't have to be
you know she was going through her own thing you know what I mean so um yeah I just I don't have time
for negativity man like I don't want to be a negative person I'm not even going to feed into no
negative shit man and and that's how I'm gonna keep it going from here like I'm just gonna
keep going up you in the right place what you give out is what you're going to track
you know you in the right place and I know it's only been 48 hours but you know what
conversations with your kids have you had that that just hit different my son's
funny as a my oldest son he's funny as half yeah he's uh yo I'm y'all hey now
like chill baby boy you know what I'm saying if I had to do it see I'm saying
you know he that one you know he that one
work out oh the first day out he took my chain oh all my my my nephews too right yeah they took my
my chain and my hats they took everything all right yeah they de-bole-me wear it up so uh
my oldest daughter she you know she's she don't play no games neither she listen dad i don't know
what you're doing but figure it out i need to see you you know what i'm saying wow so it's just
It's just, man, I'm just happy, man.
Like, I'm just happy to, you know, see their face when that face time came through.
And they, who, who, and you know, you see that reaction, like, yeah, Daddy Home.
You surprised them, they didn't know.
Some of them knew, but they didn't know exactly when I was going to pop up.
Got you.
Yeah, so it was like that.
Well, congratulations, man.
I'm happy that you home, and I'm happy to hear the clarity.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So than anything.
Absolutely.
You know?
Thank you.
We appreciate you.
I'm sure you'll be up here with some.
Some music soon.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.

Hi, I'm Dr. Priyanko Wali.
And I'm Hurricane de Bolu.
It's a new year,
and on the podcast's health stuff,
we're resetting the way we talk about our health.
Which means being honest about what we know,
what we don't know,
and how messy it can all be.
I like to sleep in late and sleep early.
Is there a chronotype for that, or am I just depressed?
Health stuff is about learning, laughing, and feeling a little less alone.

This week, on the moment, we take a look at Venezuela's on certain future in a conversation
with two people who have directly advised U.S. presidents.
Juan Gonzalez, during the Obama and Biden administrations.
We're really good at invading countries.
We're very bad at nation building.
In Carlos D.Rosillo, we're in Trump's, two terms.
I can guarantee you that nobody in the Trump administration likes Delci Rodriguez.
