Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed human. When a group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist, they take matters into their own hands. I vowed I will be his last target. He is not going to get away with this. He's going to get what he deserves. We always say that trust your girlfriends.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. What's up, everyone? I'm Ego Vodam. My next guest, it's Will Ferrell. Woo, woo, woo, woo.
Starting point is 00:00:42 My dad gave me the best advice ever. He goes, just give it a shot. But if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat just hanging. Hang in there. Yeah, it would not be...
Starting point is 00:01:05 Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Yeah. Listen to Thanks, Dad, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 2023, Bachelor star Clayton Eckerd was accused of fathering twins. But the pregnancy appeared to be a hoax. You doctored this particular test twice, Ms. Ellen's, correct?
Starting point is 00:01:26 I doctored the test ones. It took an army of internet detectives to uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the... the same thing. Greg Gillespie and Michael Ranchini. My mind was blown. I'm Stephanie Young. This is Love Trapped.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Laura, Scottsdale Police. As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences. Listen to Love Trapped podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. 10 shots five, City Hall building. How could this have happened in City Hall? Somebody tell me that. A shocking public murder. This is one of the most dramatic events that really ever.
Starting point is 00:02:05 happened in New York City politics. I scream. Get down. Get down. Those are shots. A tragedy that's now forgotten. End of mystery. That may or may not have been political. That may have been about sex. Listen to Rorschach. Murder at City Hall on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You're all finished or y'all done?
Starting point is 00:02:35 Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envi. Just Hilarious. Salomey Nagar. We are the Breakfast Club. Long Lawn LaRose is here as well. Yes, indeed. Beautiful day in New York City, 90 degrees. Today, we got a special guest in the building. He's got an R&B concert tomorrow at the UBS Arena. Yes, UBS Arena. He's up before the way.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Tank, Tamar Braxton, Genuon, Lloyd, and ladies and gentlemen, Tyrese. Black Ty! Yes, my brother, my brother. Hey, man, how are you? Is it winter? What's the season is this? It's springtime. It's spring.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Yeah. Beautiful in the city, 90 degrees. 90. I heard you announced that. That's right. The fuck y'all wear a turtlenex from? I don't know what you're talking about, but you got on a leather jacket
Starting point is 00:03:16 in the hoodie, so you should shut the fuck out. This is true. You ever thought about that? Same. I'm going to leave it alone. I'm going to leave it alone. I put this shit on for the sake of style. I ain't think about the season.
Starting point is 00:03:27 How you doing? We're all out of season. Hey, you know what? They can run this shit November, October, December, they can run this back, and they're going to be like, yeah, this shit was in season.
Starting point is 00:03:37 It's called continuity. I know that's me. On movie sets. How are you, sir? I'm good, man. Thank you all for having me. Of course, man, of course. Now, listen, now that it's over, in your heart,
Starting point is 00:03:48 who won the verse? I'm gonna ask y'all. You, to me. That's what they said. I'm gonna be honest with you. I didn't get to see it. I didn't watch it. But from what I gathered from the people,
Starting point is 00:03:59 people were feeling like Tink might have won. But there were people that were going hard for you too because they said you brought the classic R&B. You stuck to the singing. You didn't bring out a bunch of guests and do all of the, you know, magic tricks. From what I saw, that's what I, witnessed, you know, the fact that you was by yourself.
Starting point is 00:04:14 You didn't bring out no guess. It was just you in the microphone. Envy said, what did you thought? Tank. And what did you think, Jess? I thought, Tyrese. I watched the whole verses. I'm not just saying this because I love you.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Obviously, no. I need envy to take that back. Oh, why? You don't give a damn about what I'm saying. Yes, of course. It just hit me. I'm sorry, babe. It just hit me what he just said.
Starting point is 00:04:34 That's just thung a little bit. He said, he said, I got something for him. He did. But no, this is what I was saying. This is also what I was saying that I'm going to let you get back the envy. But no, I thought that it was set up a little unfairly because I thought it was
Starting point is 00:04:47 artist to artist, not artist to artist songwriter. I think it should have been just your songs, like where y'all are singing not like, oh, I wrote this for such and such. I didn't think that was fair, but yeah, I thought you won. But every verse is a feature like that. Every verses is their
Starting point is 00:05:03 right, what they write, if they produce, it's a little bit of everything. So why do you think they're because the only thing I saw is everybody saying tank bought out a bunch of guests, but they were like Tyrese, was killing it with the vote. I think Tyrese killed it with the vocal. Now, these guys didn't see it, by the way.
Starting point is 00:05:16 They were at Cardi B's concert. No, they saw it. I definitely saw it. Yes. I didn't watch it before. So what? And I watched the verses the next day. Oh, next day.
Starting point is 00:05:27 I thought she did too. No, I didn't watch it before. I watched it as much as I could. And I said it in the before. I watched as much as I could because we were at the concert. And then I went and looked at all the comments to see who was voting for what. Because there was a lot of the back. Well, Jess said why she thought Tyrese won.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Why you thought Tank one? But would he show up to a wine cellar? We'll just leave that alone. Damn. Damn. So let's just move on. But like I said, I love how Teng performed, and he killed it. He was playing to the women.
Starting point is 00:05:51 And I thought he killed it. You said he thought he was funnier. He was more entertaining. That's not right. That's not what the version is about. It was more. His man said his tank became just hilarious. It was a vocalist.
Starting point is 00:06:04 And I think he was more of an entertainer that night. And then I think the fact that he came up with the whole turtle thing. I just thought take one. Which is why are you wearing a turtleneck? No, I'm not wearing a turtlene. I don't know. I don't see no turtlene. You wearing a little? Why do you think take one? I didn't watch it in full, but I
Starting point is 00:06:22 did you definitely see a thing. Yeah. I said, from what I gathered, from the people who watch it in the comments, from what I was seeing, people, I think people were talking about just the variety of what he brought out, but there were people who hated that, too. Yeah. That's a really nice Erica Bardue thing up there. I really liked what you're doing.
Starting point is 00:06:38 We should move on. From verses? Yeah. You asked. You'd be ass. No, I didn't ask. Oh. Then he asked.
Starting point is 00:06:46 He was like, who do you out there? Dock and ball men don't look alike, sir. No. Okay. Well, I was going to tell y'all, in my opinion, I definitely won. In my opinion, I knew I won from the moment that he opened his first two songs with a sermon. He was out there preaching. Hard to be God now.
Starting point is 00:07:08 When you set the stage with God? He was set the tone with God. He was sitting the tone with God. He was trying to set the tone. But the ladies were here for that. They was like, nigga, shut up and take a shirt off. You got to understand women. But, yeah, I didn't know he was going to start the whole show off with a sermon.
Starting point is 00:07:23 So as I was backstage with Chingi queued up, first of all, it was like, damn, I got to follow this. You know what I mean? I had to follow the fact that he killed the crowd on his first two songs. His second song was, because I gave me. Sitting at a piano. Like, nigga, that's like, that should be like song 17, like you start, you want to, I can't make you love me. Song number two, off top I knew I had them.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So when I came out with my, what do you like and pulling me back, featuring Chingi, which was my only feature, I knew I had them off top, you know what I'm saying? I was just, yeah, it was like, that was, that was the chess move. But I think, I think the other thing, too, like, I think people are just grabbing shit out of the sky at this point to figure out why a tank won. I just want to lay out a couple of things.
Starting point is 00:08:20 I told you wanted to move on, Ty. No, no, no, fuck that. Let me cook. Okay, I'm committed, just like you committed to this turtleneck. Because you look hot as a motherfucker right now. Is this a turtlene? You need some wet wipes. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:08:32 Why do you keep talking about turrets? You're traumatized by Turner. What is going on? It's all right. Mona. Mona, stay out of this. This is crazy. Okay, so like what I said, just hear me out.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Okay. We both squint our eyes and we talk, so take that off the table. Okay. Now you like Skid. Everybody is out here talking about Tanks' catalog. I wrote what am I going to do? I wrote how you're going to act like that. The bridge.
Starting point is 00:08:59 I wrote lately, okay, 100% all right? I wrote a lot of the songs that I did on stage live. So get out of here with the cat. He might be known as a producer writer, but I'm out there heavy in these writing streets, but I'm just in the wings. So for folks out here like, yo, he wanted to put his catalog on display.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Listen, man, I stood 10 toes down. And the feature that I had, because I thought it was Tyrese versus Tank, I brought a rapper out only. Every other thing that happened on that stage was me. So we bringing this same energy to the U.B. S Arena and y'all gonna be there with your turtlenecks.
Starting point is 00:09:43 It's part two. This Saturday, by the way. I'm coming there. Me and my husband, that's a date night for us, period. You know what I'm saying? And I said, I said, I need Jess because that's my baby right there. I said, like, I need her to come pull up.
Starting point is 00:09:55 And where are you going, Charlemagne? I got, my daughter got freshman orientation this weekend, man. This weekend, but I'm on stage at 10.30. That's what headliners do, not the opener. You're going to miss Tank. Damn. You know what's so funny?
Starting point is 00:10:08 Taking by me. That's a good point. Thank you about to me. That's crazy. You're going to miss. Your daughters will be night night by then. Damn. You know, fans weren't debating heavy online about who wanted to?
Starting point is 00:10:18 What surprised you the most about the public reaction? I think I surprised myself more than me focusing on the public reaction. I'm not, I've never been the kind of guy that arrive at, oh, I won or I didn't win or this is how I feel about myself based on what people are. I was really like just shocked, you know, because I've never done anything like it, you know what I'm saying? Like this versus thing, there are people that have done verses where they press play on all their records,
Starting point is 00:10:52 and then there's people that have done verses where they're actually up there singing. And so Tank said, we're doing a live band and we sing, and I was like, mega, okay. So, yeah, it was, I think for me, it was just getting through it. was a surprise. And then, yeah, I definitely went home and slept for what felt like six days. Wow.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Damn. Yeah. It took a lot out of you emotionally. It just wiped me out, bro. Like, because I, yeah, because I'm like, I was listening for every note. You know, when I'm in concert, I can hit a couple bad notes and it ain't a live DVD or nothing. You know what I mean? It's like, so it was that.
Starting point is 00:11:32 It's crazy because watching it, the bit that I saw, it just seemed so effortless for you. It was, because Mona Scott Young, it was. It's different. She demanded that I rehearse, which I never do. What did that look like? That's good. Tank tried to say, was it Tank tried to say you came to the rehearsal late or you say he came late? No, he was late.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Well, he was early and I was late. So what I mean? No, no, I had to change the story. I had to tell the truth. So what was your rehearsals that Mona Scott was putting you through? Like, what was that? No, no. All of my rehearsals was just like private rehearsals.
Starting point is 00:12:07 And then we had the rehearsal at Apple. But you've never stopped rehearsing. You're an OG artist who never stops working on their gift. I've never known you to not be singing or doing something. Yeah, well, let me explain what Mona is on edge about. Okay, okay, okay. Because this is about Mona Scott Young. He's no idea.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Shout out to Mona Scott Young, who is in the building. Hey, how are you? She manages you now, right? Yeah, Mona Scott Young, she's not just managing me. I am very contained. there are no scheduled tears today Breakfast Club so don't even try it
Starting point is 00:12:44 we've actually told them to adjust the temperature before we came in there because we got the heads up about your turtleneck so you niggas will be melting shortly and then everything about Mona Scott Young has been you know
Starting point is 00:13:00 we're about to switch this up we're about to change all of this up so like a mad scientist she and her husband Sean Young they really like wrap their entire
Starting point is 00:13:13 brains around the ism of all things all the things we need to get rid of it's like a dissecting I've been on the surgical table man with my knee and my chest open and I've been in surgery man so I would love to know what
Starting point is 00:13:29 Mona feels like she need to get rid of when it comes to Tyree's Gibson because you are a lot when Mona when I first heard she was managing you after this she won all on her plate I did no he did what was the response remember I don't remember She said she was all in. She said she loves it.
Starting point is 00:13:45 She didn't do that. She didn't do that. She didn't do that. You know what? Hold on. Okay. Hey, Envy, I'm about the damn dashed you, Nicky. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Oh, G. OG. OG. OG. OG, OJ. OJ. OJ. OJ.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Clearing the OG up to the mic. Hey, y'all. Come on. Let me see. You keep interrupted. You keep interrupted. Oh, G, come on, man. Mona said no.
Starting point is 00:14:15 We just want to know what is the strategy for Tyrese, Mona. This is the setup right here. No, because, look, you got. The legendary Mona Scott Young. Hey, hey, hey, guys. How I ended up until you don't know. Yeah, you can sit in other chair, Tyra. You got new artists that don't want him.
Starting point is 00:14:32 This is dirty now. And Tyrese is being, breaking them down and building them up. So what was the question? What? He said that, you know, there was some things he had to remove. And you let him know that he had to remove some things. What were those things? What do you think was in Tyrese's way?
Starting point is 00:14:45 Tyrese. Tyrese. You know, and he knows it, and we've talked about it because this is an incredible, talented, you know, visionary who wears his heart on his sleeve, leads with emotion first, which is great when you're an artist. But all of the big visions that he has,
Starting point is 00:15:04 all of the things that he's already put in motion, even before I came into play, those are the thoughts and visions and dreams of an entrepreneur, of a business. person, right? And it was like if that is where you aspire to and that's actually where I see you, then we need to start, you know, rebuilding. Right? We need to change. And I don't want to say change. I would call it course correct. Mm-hmm. Course correct. So what were your thoughts that you mean? Mona though. Yeah. So what were your thoughts on? She's unavailable.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Wow. Wow. Yo, Envy. Yes. You squinting your eyes a little too much at Mona right now. If that's your way of thinking, maybe she'll manage you. She's unavailable. Motors already been down in line with me and helped me so many different times. She's unavailable. So what is your thoughts on the TGT? Do you continue with TGT or do you think it was three brands that didn't necessarily need to be together? No, I think TGT worked well for, you know, what it did and what it was at the time.
Starting point is 00:16:02 I think that all of the guys are on their own paths right now. And if they come together again, we always love a good reunion. But there are so many things that we have lined up, so many things that we have lined up, so many things that we have ahead of us, you know, with Tyrese individually. I mean, of course, the versus was an incredible, you know, gust of wind that we're going to ride that sale, you know. But I just think that these guys all have their own thing that they're doing,
Starting point is 00:16:26 and there's so much that we have in the pipeline with Tyrese. We'll see if he's available. I don't feel like Tyrese has scratched the surface acting-wise. Who said that? You do. Who said that? All the time. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I absolutely agree. I agree with you. I feel like he had lightning in a bottle, right? With what happened with Fast and Transformers, but those were these huge franchises that, you know, he was able to cement his place, but it didn't really show the full scope of his abilities and his talents. And there's some great, you know, other pieces that he did.
Starting point is 00:17:01 There are some shorts that were working on, and one of them in particular, which Tyrese wrote and, you know, was instrumental in the execution of, really highlights his talent in a way, that this little clip has opened the door for him with other things. So we want to continue to go down that path and grow that. And there's some, you know, major, I see you smiling, I know where you're going.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Projects that are ahead of him that I feel are going to be his opus projects, his Oscar projects, right? Big studio movies. Big movies, big projects that allow people to see the full range. Right? Listen, people like, how did this happen? And like when you said, why do, you know, there's so many artists, so many talents that have.
Starting point is 00:17:41 have come to me along the way. And you guys know I did the management thing for so long, right? Missy Buster, my labors of love. We just in it. That's family. And I get approached all the time. And it's like, for me, I've been doing all this other stuff. There's got to be something.
Starting point is 00:17:56 And I never know what that something is, by the way. It's not like I'm like, oh, this is what I'm looking for because I wasn't looking. Tyrese and I connected because I was trying to cast this movie that I did. And they were like, what about Tyrese Gibson? I'm like, why the hell would Tyrese Gibson do this? But fuck it. Let me go and see. and we connected over that
Starting point is 00:18:13 and he was like, no, I'm not going to do your little movie but let me apologize. I ain't say a little movie. Damn, I ain't say a little movie like your little turtle tonight. He was like, nah, but then we connected and it's that thing that you never know until you're sitting across from it, right?
Starting point is 00:18:33 Tell him what made you say yes, Mona. Oh, he was like, you know, I've got this album and I did this and this was kind of me pouring out And I said, well, I want to listen to that. And we sat in that studio and I listened to this album top to bottom. And I didn't even know that there was a yes. But after listening to that album, it was like, yes. Wow.
Starting point is 00:18:56 This is what this is supposed to be, the Beautiful Pain. Album. Have you guys all heard that? Yes. That is a masterpiece, genius body of work. And it was that sitting in that studio and I'm talking about we was just, in it and I came out of that like, okay, God, I don't know what this is supposed to be. I don't know what this journey is going to be about, but I hear the yes.
Starting point is 00:19:19 What do you think? Sometimes it does feel like there's a disconnect between Tyrese the star, Tyrese the talent, and Tyrese the person, right? Because they're like the stuff people I've seen on social media. I think sometimes that makes people not respect the talent as much as they should. How do you correct that? I mean, this is the crazy part. Because he's going to tweet and be on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:19:39 They are talking about me. I've been trying to take that away from him, but I'm not successful there yet. But the interesting thing, right, for Tyrese, and it's crazy the conversations I have to have where I'm just like, you are a global superstar. I get, he is so accessible because for him it's one thing, right? There's no public persona versus I'm this, you know, billion dollar box office superstar. None of that computes in his head because it's just him like literally, I'm like, sir, could, everyone not have access to you.
Starting point is 00:20:12 This man will stop. He talks to everybody here. Take my number. Oh, it looks like you're having a hard day. Let me sit here and build with you. And I'm like, I love that about you, but there also has to be the time and the space for that
Starting point is 00:20:26 so we can continue to build on all the other things. For him, it's all one person. He is, who he is, all day, every day, to whoever he's talking to, whether it's a one-on-one conversation or him on Instagram to the world. Right? And people judge that.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Right? They don't understand that. They don't want to understand that. So a lot of times they're judging him. Right? So you have to find that balance between who you are and who you need to be for people to give you an opportunity to show them who you can be. Because once they judge you and they put that label on you, you're not working to prove that you're not who they think you are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:06 You know? I love this, though. and I love that like a black woman is here and doing it because I'm watching just even your demeanor as she's talking and just like, you know, and I imagine that you've been through some really dark times behind a lot of that stuff, right? And now to have somebody who's like,
Starting point is 00:21:20 she's actually sold deeply into you. Oh, no, it's, it's, it's, the thing is, I think for me at this point in all of our lives in whatever capacity, we would all say, oh, somebody's got an agenda or are they trying to do this for the money? She don't need the money We would like to pay the mortgage on a regular basis
Starting point is 00:21:43 She don't need the money So I can't be a money motivated for her When you got Boston and Missy And you got love and hip hop season 79 She's all right So money is not the motivation So when you're waking up at 3 a.m., which she does clockwork And you see that she's added every single day
Starting point is 00:22:05 dissecting The analogy was, because we both love Rose Royces, I arrived at this thought. This entire time, I've been a Rose Royce. This whole time, I've been a Rose Roy. Oh my God, oh my God. He was a bus. He was a bus. He was in the back of the bus.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Okay. O.G. Okay. It's not. See, that's what I said. This name is that. Get that. Get you out of it.
Starting point is 00:22:32 It's a back in the bus. Why you can interrupt to me? You started on the bus, Tyree. Why are you? doing it. It's true. You were trying to get his point across. Can I talk? Can I talk? Can I talk?
Starting point is 00:22:44 Can I talk? Yeah, okay. Please talk. All right. Thank you, O.G. I love you. Thank you so much. All right. So we can get the two shot of Charlemagne in it. All right. So anyway, you're Rose Royce?
Starting point is 00:22:58 I was a Rose Royce's whole time. Don't interrupt me, bro. Can I please? I know what you're doing. So I was a Rose Royce's whole time. but I had no engine. Without systems, without operations, without a functionality, you're in a Rose Royce, you're the appeal, you're attractive, everyone sees and notices you, you're shining.
Starting point is 00:23:23 It's new, it's nice. But without a system, you know, what is Charlemagne without his president with the black effect? That's operation. Dolly, that's right. Dolly, there's operations. There's operations happening right now while he's up here doing his part. So imagine me feeling like
Starting point is 00:23:44 I got all the potential in the world as an actor, as an entrepreneur, as a person with vision. But you have vision, but you need the vision implementer. It only works if you listen to that vision implementer. Bro, did I talk while she was talking? That's what I meant by the meeting?
Starting point is 00:24:00 Should you interrupt me again? No, no, no. No, they said you was a boneless car. You said you was a boneless car. He was the Roseroys for No Engine, and we totally got it. I love that analogy. Yeah. I think it's fired.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Imagine the question, Tye, is there any downside to being casted in a franchise film? And the reason I asked that, because those franchise films clearly took you to the next level. No. Okay. No, you've been to my house, okay. Yes. Been to both of them, man. When you had in Cali, too, back in.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, no, no problem at all. Yeah. Everything's fine. I remember the house you had in Arizona, too. God, damn. Well, see, that wasn't my house. We rented that to do my R&B bootcats.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Which is, wait, wait, we rented that house to do my R&B boot camp, which I was writing catalog. Yeah, that's true. That's true. So, anyway, hey, guys, hey, listen, I want to just share some amazing news. Mona Sky Young, thank you for everything. And I'm so grateful because in the capacity of personal business, I really, really believe that God sent me the person that's going to take me to that next level. This is what happens when Mona Scott calls my phone. Mona Scott Young calls my phone in the morning, okay?
Starting point is 00:25:13 First thing that happens is, good morning. Well, good morning. And then I hear, she opens up the hood of my Rosreuth. And the dissecting and the rebuilding of the engine happens every single day. Wow. I'm talking about, but here's the thing. Now, when somebody is mentoring you, they'll talk about what you're supposed to do,
Starting point is 00:25:42 and then they'll say, now get out the way and let me get busy. She puts the tools in my hand, and I'm standing in front of my engine of my car, and she's giving me the information of why my engine is malfunctioning. And she's making me go in there physically do that, and she's doing that and doing that and doing that, which is why I'm so proud to,
Starting point is 00:26:05 share with the world that I just launched a Patreon. Yes, congratulations. And so imagine how long I've been in the game, right? 30 years, all of these hard drives, terabytes and terabytes full of footage. You know how we go on our iPhone or our Mac and it take us all the way back to 2012, 2010? I got all of these videos and photos that I have never. posted uploaded from the sweet lady video behind the scenes making up to wildflower the making of to shame with Denzel and Jennifer Hudson the making of all of my fuel fest events I got the
Starting point is 00:26:52 cameras rolling and they have been rolling and even though I do post a lot I only post 10% of my life so all of this footage with my lady Zelly footage from interviews that I did about my ex and my divorce and the stuff that I was dealing with. I was doing like literally a confessional video where every time I felt some feelings, instead of posting it, I just started pulling out my camera and filming myself in real time. So if you go to Tyrese patreon.com,
Starting point is 00:27:25 it's already a bunch of stuff on there that nobody in the world has ever seen. And the cameras were rolling the entire to look at Jessica's eyes. She's just like, It's crack it. Are you good to go back to that place? That was so dark.
Starting point is 00:27:39 I'm not talking about the fuel fest and the self. Everything. Because here's the thing, right? It's very different to put it out there for public consumption when it's for everyone's entertainment. But it's like it feels like I've taken control of my narrative, you know, control of what people are going to see. you know, Charlotte Maine says something to me,
Starting point is 00:28:05 hey man, have you dealt with your trauma? Bub, boom. I started crying, right? So now I'm in control of everything that goes out there. And so this is the most exciting part. Literally today, right now, today, an hour and 20 minutes of what actually happened at Versus, from stealing background singers to the turtleneck,
Starting point is 00:28:31 to the turtleneck to the turtleneck. To making Trayson's get off stage. Yeah. Why didn't the turtleneck bother you so much? I don't understand. Like, what about that night? Because he had it going and it was hot.
Starting point is 00:28:47 That's so crazy. I'm the only actor here and you're trying. I have no idea what you're talking about. You're really trying. But I can't wait to see this hour, 20 minutes. It's going to be very good. It is the unreleased verses, and I'm going to tell you all right now,
Starting point is 00:28:59 I'm not going to make this like, you know, negative. You have never seen anything. Like, I'm talking about from the rehearsals. Every time Tank called me on FaceTime and we was talking and plotting and gaming and coming up with and he kept catching me off guard with the shit, we would establish what we're going to do
Starting point is 00:29:19 and then he would do something else trying to throw me off. Right? He threw me off 20 times. You had no idea about the guests and none of that that he was bringing out? Not one nigga was announced. Wow. And we came up with a plan.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Oh, so you know, he went left on the plan to try you do dirty. So you wasn't solely by yourself as a plan? I was, I was fully, I was like, yo, I got Chingi coming out. You know what I mean? I said, bro, I'm working on Ben Diesel or ludicrous to come out so that they can introduce TGT because Genuine was supposed to. Canadian women are looking for more. More to themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world are at them.
Starting point is 00:29:59 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the only. Honest Talk podcast. I'm Jennifer Stewart and I'm Catherine Clark and in this podcast we interview Canada's most inspiring women entrepreneurs artists athletes politicians and newsmakers all at different stages of their journey so if you're looking to connect then we hope you'll join us listen to the honest talk podcast and iHeart radio or wherever you listen to your podcasts there's two golden rules that any man should live by rule one never mess with a country girl you play stupid James, you get stupid prizes. And rule two, never mess with her friends either.
Starting point is 00:30:40 We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends... Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care, so they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no, I vowed I will be his last target.
Starting point is 00:31:07 He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back. I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation. with some of my favorite musicians.
Starting point is 00:31:40 Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Lave, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name. And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Kara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. You related to the Phantom at that point. Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that. That's so funny. Share each day with me. night each morning say you love me you know I...
Starting point is 00:32:17 So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to Playing Along on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, everyone? I'm Ago Wodom. My next guest, you know from Stepbrothers, Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network, it's Will Ferrell. Woo, woo, woo, woo, woo. My dad gave me the best advice ever. I went and had lunch with him one day.
Starting point is 00:32:42 And I was like, and dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through and I know it's a place that come look for up and coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall,
Starting point is 00:33:07 and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Listen to Thanks Dad on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:33:31 I make it. I was like, bro, let's shock the world. I'm going to try and get Venn to come. That likeskin, brother, would have stole the show, by the way. Well, yeah, that's what I understand. Got to stay there for my life. It's crazy. You actually dropped a couple shades.
Starting point is 00:33:44 He must have came from the Maldives. You look a little dark and his nose is a little red today. So, yeah, it's that, you know. And here's the thing, right? I'm going to be honest. Yes, I'm a Capricorn, but I'm not the competitive Capricorn. I'm not the dude that lose sleep over nobody's gifts, right? Which is why a tank is at 2% body.
Starting point is 00:34:07 fat because he's trying to keep up with these 17-year-old and he won't give nobody a chance. Right? So Tank is very competitive and we got it all on tape and all the funny, all the moments like I just did a screening yesterday at my crib and I was sitting there with them it was like 12 people in my living room
Starting point is 00:34:27 and I swear to God, I was like damn I just do this every day, you know? The niggas like, oh he's funny and I'm like just the shit that just be happening in real time. they laughed the entire fucking documentary. Are they laughing with you or at you? It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:34:42 They're laughing at all the shit that's going down. Because, you know, Tank, tank is a problem. That's all. Both of y'all comedians. Yes. I've always told you if you would stop taking yourself so serious and do a curvy enthusiasm style show,
Starting point is 00:35:00 it would be so goddamn funny. Yeah. It's funny and don't even realize it. Don't even try. Tank funny too. He's cool to be, but no. How are you funny shit? Why do I do a doc
Starting point is 00:35:09 and take people back to 1995 Coca-Cola commercial? Seriously, because think about how long you've been in the game, how long you've been around. I think sometimes people forget that. And when you don't see the process, you don't respect where a person is now.
Starting point is 00:35:22 This is true. Well, listen, the process was filmed. The cameras was rolling. Like, after, we're going to start with a Patreon for a thing. No, no, no, no. That's what we go in first. Is it an ownership thing? I think the doctor would be.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Tyresepatrient.com. There's four different categories on there. I got all my motivational videos on there. All of the things that you usually go to my Facebook or my Instagram, it's a data dump. Like, I just went crazy. I'm literally sitting on hard drives. You know how you go film something?
Starting point is 00:35:53 Oh, I got this vision. I got this idea. You pay for all the cameras. You pay for niggas to follow you around. And then you go what? Around to all of the studios trying to get your project greenlit. Sometimes they land. in most cases they don't
Starting point is 00:36:08 so then you're like damn this shit is good and it's just sitting on my hard drive I've uploaded everything I'm uploading everything Tyrese patreon.com jump on there and here's the thing
Starting point is 00:36:23 I got something for us too Charlotte man okay yeah we'll talk about that later but I'm excited man do you think versus is more about strategy now after doing it or just undeniable records because clearly you need more than just an undeniable record.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Well, that's a really good question. My response would be it would feel like a strategy if I didn't already have Mona Scott Young in place. Now, what do we do with all this hype and energy? I don't know what he's going to be doing on his side, but when her phone rings, yesterday's price is not, You know, so I just ordered my turtleneck. Oh, I know, that's right.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Like a whole bulk of them? Yeah, whole ball. You're not coming out with a line of turtlenex. You got to send me some. Well, you know, during the summer, the price of turtlenecks are down. Oh, so you get a wholesale nail and then you're going to drop it later? Yeah. For the summer ones, you should do the crop top, no-sleeved turtle next for the women, like me.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Yeah. That's fire. Tide Tarton. Tiles turtles? Nothing. Don't even put the neck on it. Tyne one. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:37 We've got some pause on that one. I don't like it. I think we need to move on. That'd be crazy. I like the turrets. I want you all to know that I had. No one had more fun. No one had more fun with the turtleneck shit than me.
Starting point is 00:37:52 I told Tank, and this is again, Tyrese patreon.com. I told everybody, I told people in the video, I was like, yo, man, when my boy was in the dresser room packing up all of my clubs. after we finished versus I had a whole rack with all my options and I you know he was like yeah man and he's grabbed the turtleneck I said put the motherfuckers down you left the turtlenex
Starting point is 00:38:14 there I left the turtlenex in my dressing room how many turtlenex did you have that night six I know that's right oh you like turtles pause the tape trying to say you had one turtlene you just kept just you know I don't I don't really like how much lint you got on your turtleneck over here right plan that song or was that a freestyle no that was all free stuff no that was all free style. Okay, okay, okay. So you could have killed him. You should have said he planned it already. Well, I did, you know, first of all... You're not a liar.
Starting point is 00:38:40 First of all, I'm not a liar. No. But first of all, as I went back and looked at the verses, I was like, look, if people think that the turtleneck shit is the draw, because it did
Starting point is 00:38:56 go viral, right? It was dope. I was like, when they tune in, they're going to see that I look clean as a motherfucker. I'm talking about, Nick, I was casket sharp. look like I jumped out of the pages of Esquire, Vogue, okay, with every look that I put on that day. And so the turtleneck
Starting point is 00:39:12 was a choice because there was no time to change shirts in between each look that I wanted to switch up on. So I was like, I'm going to leave my same pants on, but as I change my jackets and I go from three
Starting point is 00:39:28 or four songs and I switch it up, then I can rotate this the turtle. Yeah. So it was a strategy. I like it, okay. Okay, you know what I'm gonna mean? So Tank goes strategy around the people he brought out. You brought out you know.
Starting point is 00:39:40 No, Tank came out there with a see-through sequence shirt on and we need to be asking questions about why. I did look, yeah. Why? If you're gonna come out with a see-through sequence piece with nipples showing through. Damn. Yeah. You might as well just... We're not doing sequence.
Starting point is 00:39:59 Nigger, you look hotter to me. So you came out with a shirt on with a shirt on with you. with a shirt on with air conditioning you came out with a shirt on with vents climate control button up his shit yeah okay that's what I'm saying his shit had vents did versus change the dynamic of your relationship I can't tell did it change the dynamic of your relationship no no I'm gonna tell y'all what happened bro I'm gonna tell y'all what happened tank is out here completely gassed he think he won just on
Starting point is 00:40:33 him talking shit about my turtleneck. He don't understand that he has not went viral from any of the songs that he sung. Any of all is, ewee, ewee. You out here, Kimberrella niggas, and none of that shit went viral. If you want to go viral,
Starting point is 00:40:54 you might want to sing about the headliner's turtleneck. You see what I'm saying? See? So wait, so none of your catalog went viral. Your band members was up there looking sad as a motherfucker like they lost after song number two. They didn't try to steal my singer, Kenyon Dixon. Right?
Starting point is 00:41:16 So now I'm telling y'all, when you go to Tyrese patreon.com, it's all exposed, like all of it. And I've put so, I've already put too much shit on my Patreon right now. What about... You seem like you were mad at Tyrese, you know, at Trey's songs a little bit. Were you mad at Trey? What happened with Trey? It didn't seem like you were too happy.
Starting point is 00:41:38 Like, I wasn't mad at Trey. I was mad at the sweatsuit that he came out there. I was like, yo, we're kind of here looking a certain kind of... Gotcha. Yeah, yeah. You know, he looked like he just left baggage claim.
Starting point is 00:41:54 You felt like he shouldn't have been able to do the song because Tank had already... No, I just feel like he shouldn't have been able to be on the show with what he was made. wearing. It wasn't the proper attire for that night. Yeah, our whole shit, we was up, you know?
Starting point is 00:42:06 And Trey is my young, that's my young, that's my young nigga. And then I really felt like, what really through me was, he did the When We remix. I didn't know we was doing remixes. That's what I thought the issue was from your side. It was. That was my issue, and that's what I said.
Starting point is 00:42:22 I was like, yo, Trey, uh, Tank. So we are out here doing the When We remix? I said, I said, Motherfuck, I got remixes. You know, I could have called Snoop, Lenny Kravitz, where's Khalifa? I could have called Usher. I could have called everybody I've ever collaborated with. Snoop Dog, I've done 15 songs with Snoop.
Starting point is 00:42:42 And we were in Culver City. Nigger, Snoop was 10 minutes away in his compound in Englewood. It was 10 toes down. It was Tyrese versus Tank. So as you are still in your life-skinned feelings about who won. I'm not. You are. Yes, you are.
Starting point is 00:43:00 You have said, not even mention it. You are in your family. You really feel away when people say tank one because I saw the backup work with Joe Button, too. Yeah, because people are delusional if they believe he won. Joe Button was basically saying that tank one. And then you called him Tinder and said that he is a tank supporter. And then he said that you should go child.
Starting point is 00:43:23 Tank support is not like truck support. It was crazy. He called him Tinder buttons. And I describe buttons because you push his buttons He loves to push niggas buttons And all of that's on my Patreon Like I like
Starting point is 00:43:39 We've already had calls Let me tell you something Do y'all understand What happens every day Where you know because you're like I'd be calling you Yeah yeah yeah Do you understand when the cameras is rolling
Starting point is 00:43:50 And You got niggas on FaceTime And the audio is live And the camera guy is over there you can't see them. So you and Joe Bennett had a conversation that's on Patreon
Starting point is 00:44:02 you're saying? No, no, no. What I'm saying is everything about everything that's going on I filmed and documented it all. Tyresepatriotton.com
Starting point is 00:44:12 is what I'm saying. Because we're going to see the real. It's all there. Now, me and Joe had a conversation. Following all the back and forth. Because I don't really know when Joe switched up
Starting point is 00:44:23 because, you know, we was cool. And I think my last... You know, being cool with you doesn't mean somebody wanted. I'm not laws. You can still be cool with somebody and be like, oh, I just like, that's better than other.
Starting point is 00:44:32 See, that doesn't make you not cool. Yeah, I just think you still, I think you still got your own little tender issues with me to envy. That's why you wanted to stick it to me with saying tank one. But that's, we'll talk about that later. You don't even listen to Tank songs as much as I do, nor does your wife. So stop playing. That's true.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Okay. Because they, they, they, don't start. Don't you start. Don't go down that hole. Don't see, I know he was going to do that. I know he was going to do that. The whole question, that's crazy. Like, you know what am I?
Starting point is 00:44:59 No, no. How do I know that? How do I know that Envy and his first lady are fans of my music is because they told me. Correct. And because you sang for Envy when he needed you to.
Starting point is 00:45:10 And that song, stay, was the song that really helped. One of my favorite songs in it. Okay? So him saying... You both to ride with Tyrese, where you ride with 50 people. Yeah, because that's so unloogued.
Starting point is 00:45:22 That's so... That was crazy. He's like, tank the money. I don't understand. to somebody. No, that's great. 10 never put in marriage. But to envy's defense wasn't about the performance at the moment, though?
Starting point is 00:45:34 It was, but there's no way that anybody can say he won when he has 17 niggas to come out. That's what I was saying. It was you versus everybody. Now, see, Mona's about to text me in a second. Every versus. I'm about to get turned to. People bring artists out on verses. If y'all ever watch verses again, they bring artists out.
Starting point is 00:45:49 They bring the songs that they write. In the capacity of how talented that man is. Take us very talented. It did not take 17 niggas. why you come out here to beat up Jody. I know, exactly. 17 niggas jump me in front of the liquor store. They jumped Jody.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Why don't they jump Jolie, nigga, nigga? I was, I was chilling. I just was on my bike at the liquor store. Yeah, being a good store. Just trying to sing, nigga, and get my quarters. Tank killed it, though. See, that's so petty, but Teng didn't save your merge. That's so wild.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Man, if people could get jude and ran out when you were getting jub. I got to go. I love. This is why I love this moment. You know what I'm saying? You got to pull. What's the point, though? What's the point?
Starting point is 00:46:28 You would never do that to clue? Never. You would lie for clue? You would live for 50. Yes, you would. Yes, you would. That's messed up. Yeah, envy.
Starting point is 00:46:37 We know what happened. Come on, Jess. Let's take a picture before you leave. Envy, we know what happened. But I think, I think take one. You want me to lie? All right. Rainy, can you grab the photo or say you?
Starting point is 00:46:49 Don't touch. Because they're not trying to the camera. No, no, we're not done. I got depressed from my book. No, no, no, we're not done. I got depressed from my book. I love it. I know. I'm not going to have been gone, but I want to do this.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Okay. Here we go. One, two, three. Here's Alex. I'm so mad at you. I'm so mad. Come on. Alex.
Starting point is 00:47:12 That's my OG. My OG stepped in the interview. O.G stepped in. One, two, three. Maybe get in there. Yeah, she got to put on that. Come on here. I have a turtle.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Wait, hold on, hold on. I want you to get this on video. Where is that? Where is time? Thomas. Yeah, where you're here? Yeah, hold on. Let me go up.
Starting point is 00:47:44 I'm sorry, guys. Hold on. No, no, no, no. Let him stay in there. You're sure? Yes, yes, babe. You know what we're getting a quick picture? No.
Starting point is 00:47:52 We didn't see in you all anymore. Start the video over. Start the video over. You can edit in post. No, I don't want to. Okay, there we're ready? Yeah. Video.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Three, two, one. Yeah, the breakfast club, baby. It's time. It's time. It's Charlotte Man. Wait, did you take that again, keep going? that again keep going I got that here bro do yourself do yourself put your feedback on it I got that from Tarreed's house in Georgia
Starting point is 00:48:16 Elena oh man yeah wow come on bro put you I got no hair I got no hair don't go back listen I got no hair that's why you know how you know you know he he's crazy oh oh oh oh hey guys it's a breakfast club we all this motherfucker hey man listen tell us about the tell us about the verses Tell us about the verses. Okay, listen, man, we all know. We all know what's really going on in life. Tyrese, patreon.com.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Tell them about the show this Saturday time. Yeah, tell them about the show this. No, you got to talk it to the mic. This is the real show. Wait, wait, wait, you got to get the real camera. You got to get the camera. Hold on, you got to get the camera. Come on.
Starting point is 00:48:59 That d-a-ha-fucked up. Yes. Tell them about the show this weekend. Hold on. We had to stop to take a picture. because Jess was leaving. Yeah, Jess had to leave. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:49:15 So tell me about the show this weekend, you guys are opening up for Genuine, right? Wow. That's disrespectful. Oh, my God. Now you and Tank opening up for Genuine? That's crazy. Now I know what's going on.
Starting point is 00:49:27 My life skin, bro. I know what's going to. Wow. I know what I'm going to respond to Envy's comment? Hold on, turn around. Come here, sir. Look at what this nigger's wearing. Look at what he's wearing.
Starting point is 00:49:39 I'm not wearing nothing. Look at what he's wearing. Okay. New York niggas. I need to reach out there. You can't do that, though. You were dressed like that on Big Boy. Remember when you had the Stacy Adams?
Starting point is 00:49:50 Can't go to be here. We can't go turtleneck in this look right here. Oh! Okay, switch it up. That's the part we're going to edit out. Why you keep talking about turtlenecks, though? No, no, no, that's my response. There's no turtlenex in here.
Starting point is 00:50:03 But listen, how do y'all go on tour together, though? Because Tank is on the show Saturday. Yeah. So how do you go from competition mode to, I guess, Brotherhood on Stakes? I'm sure y'all do some records together, right? No. Damn. What the hell?
Starting point is 00:50:16 Yeah, don't do no records of what? Y'all don't do TGT records? Well, all three of us are on the bill. Right. Yeah. I got love for Tank. I just really, I really feel shocked at his conduct. Really?
Starting point is 00:50:27 Really? You're playing, though. You're joking and you're serious? I'm serious, bro. I was really shocked at his conduct. I was really shocked at the levels that he took it to, and I got it all on tape. I didn't know what was that deep. So it's such things that we must not have seen.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Yeah, I didn't know it was that deep. See, he even noticed it. I didn't know what was that deal. I thought y'all was that deal. I thought y'all be playing. So there's things we haven't seen is what you're telling us. Yeah, Tyrese patreon.com. And what you said? What you said about Avant?
Starting point is 00:50:53 Oh, because Tank was joking. He said Avant should have been in TGT, not Tyrese. Wow. See what I'm saying? He meant that shit. He was joking, though. He said he meant that shit. He hahed after.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Yeah. A ha-ha after doesn't make the joke not real. Hmm. That hurt you a little bit. Tag would have sounded crazy. group name tag did you see what taraji did I said you something what taraji said
Starting point is 00:51:22 yeah but that was from an older interview where Taraji was talking about after baby boy she should have got like well first of all you should have been way bigger like just movie star role wise but her as well too like she should have been in a bigger film she talked about that.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Did you see that? Yeah but that's been the unfortunate of black Hollywood in general and black women in Hollywood it, you know. So, yeah, it's, I remember when Viola Davis did her interviews and she went down her resume and compared it to the other woman. I forgot her name.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Oh, Merrill Street. Yeah, she went down her, she went down her parallel of Viola Davis and Merrill Street. And then went into the financial disparity between what she's getting paid versus Viola Davis. And so, yeah, you know, I just think, for me, for me, Mona Scott Young has a really big announcement, not now, but we're about to do something with Taraji. But it's crazy because, oh.
Starting point is 00:52:26 Yeah. A film? Well, no one knows this, right? But as y'all are speaking to funny, as y'all are speaking to, you know, the alpha male I've never done a romantic comedy
Starting point is 00:52:45 I've never done a love Jones I've never done anything in that space so you know this woman Miss Mona Scott Young she has there's a gift and the gift is
Starting point is 00:53:02 I know of you but I don't know what I don't know about you Mona lives in her world I live in mine so she was able to like step into my spear and dissect the entire thing and create an algorithm around. Let's stay away from this.
Starting point is 00:53:22 Let's get you more into that. And then what the fuck is all of this and picking it all apart and pulling it all together.
