Starting point is 00:00:00 Had enough of this country? Ever dreamt about starting your own? I planted the flag. This is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Or maybe not. No country willingly gives up their territory. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:00:16 What is that? Bullets. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. We need help! That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best. And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts
Starting point is 00:01:25 that arise once we've hit the pavement together. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's on your radio right now. Do you know how to pop that coochie for a girl? There you go. It's the world's most dangerous morning show. Cut the cameras, I'm out of here. I agree. What kind of show is this? Let's not listen to this show. The Breakfast Club. With DJ Envy.
Starting point is 00:01:54 The captain of this bitch. With Angela Yee, the only one who can keep these guys in check. With Charlamagne Tha God. I'm a lovable asshole. And this is The Breakfast Club, bitches! Good morning, USA! Hey, fam! Hey, fam, what's up? It's Thursday!
Starting point is 00:02:23 Yes, all day. All day, every day. morning, everybody It is Thursday Long night last night Me too I was out with Angela Yee We were at the Juice Bar Educating people on real estate and financial literacy Yeah, it was good
Starting point is 00:02:36 We learned about crowdsourcing As far as trying to get funding to get a home And we learned about what Fannie Mae does And about Airbnb And all different kinds of things And how Envy's been buying all his homes. Yeah, you should definitely, if you get an opportunity, a chance. It's called Wealth Wednesdays. It's at the Juice Bar in BK.
Starting point is 00:02:55 And we also stream it live on Facebook. Yes. And so it's up there, too, if you can't make it out. Yeah. And it's a lot of knowledge, a lot of information. It's absolutely positively free. All you got to do is RSVP. So if you're ever in a New York area, you can get a lot of knowledge, a lot of information. It's absolutely positively free. All you got to do is RSVP. So if you're ever in a New York area, you can get a lot of that knowledge.
Starting point is 00:03:08 All right. I'm also traveling all over the country trying to teach people, encourage people to invest in real estate and own their own community. I'm going to be in New Orleans coming up, Charlotte coming up, Chicago coming up in L.A. coming up, Houston coming up. So if you're in those areas and you want to learn about that you could just you know hit me on Instagram just hit the link and then you can see what I'm being your town I'm really really big into encouraging people to invest and buy their own community a lot of people have been renting for 30 years 40 years 20 years and that money that they spent in renting they could have been owned a property a multi-unit property made
Starting point is 00:03:43 some money off of it I'm'm really proud of Angela Yee. Give Angela Yee a round of applause. Drop a bomb for Angela Yee. If you don't know, when she purchased her first crib several years ago, she was very nervous, but she wound up purchasing that home. It was a two-family home or a two-unit home,
Starting point is 00:03:59 so the upstairs pretty much pays her mortgage. Well, the downstairs. I live in the top two. Oh, excuse me. She lives in the penthouse. The downstairs pretty much pays her mortgage. Well, the downstairs. I live in the top two. Oh, excuse me. She lives in the penthouse. The downstairs pretty much pays for her mortgage. And I just remember her buying a house a couple of years ago, how nervous she was. Five years ago, to be exact. Yeah, she didn't know if she was going to have enough to do it. It's very expensive.
Starting point is 00:04:15 But now she paid for that crib, and the crib went up a couple of hundred thousand dollars. $400,000. Look at that. See that? So she has a lot of equity in her home, and that's the home that she lives in. So I want to shout out to you and everybody out there that's really, really trying to get into investing. And, you know, like I said, you don't have to take a seminar. You don't have to take a class.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Google, you know. Read a book. Just try to get the knowledge that you need. Get some great referrals. We need to own our own neighborhoods. You know, I'm tired of them kicking us out of our neighborhoods. And then when we're trying to get back in, they're charging us extra money or the price is shot up. And I'm talking about Detroit. I'm talking about Texas.
Starting point is 00:04:51 I'm talking about, you know, New York, Harlem, Jersey City, Chicago, St. Louis and all those areas. I mean, those areas are everywhere around the country, but we need to own a lot of those properties. Yes. And before I came to Wealth Wednesday yesterday, I was filming for my podcast, Lip Service, and we had Lisa Ann on. You know who Lisa Ann is? Lisa Ann. The name sounds familiar. All right, well, you should Google her,
Starting point is 00:05:12 but she'll be on on Friday, but it was a great conversation. Okay. Remember the porn who's nailing Palin and someone plays Sarah Palin? Yes. That was Lisa Ann. Oh.
Starting point is 00:05:22 She's the number one most searched porn star. Now I'm going to see what she looks like. So she's, no, I'm definitely not searching her on my phone. I'm going to use your phone, Dramos. No, yesterday was not. Dramos already looked it up yesterday. He looked it up yesterday. Yes, he did.
Starting point is 00:05:34 He said, of course. He knew who she was already. Yesterday was my son's birthday. My son turned five. Oh, you should have bought him. Oh. I should have bought him the what? Lip service.
Starting point is 00:05:41 No. That's all right. He doesn't need to know about Lisa Ann or whatever her name is. I took him bowling, though. We went bowling. He's a five-year-old that loves to bowl, so we went bowling yesterday for his birthday. They put the bumpers up for him, or?
Starting point is 00:05:52 Yeah, they put the bumpers up for him, but it worked out well for me. I'm sure. Had like a 200 score. It was amazing. I had a great last night. But anyway, let's get the show cracking. Front page news, what are we talking about?
Starting point is 00:06:01 Oh, let's talk about the game last night. I know you want to talk about what's happening with the Golden State Warriors and with Toronto. Alright, we'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ, MV, Angela Gee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Let's get into some front page news. Alright, last night, game three of the NBA Finals. The Raptors beat the Warriors 123-109. Raptors lead the series 2-1. Very undermanned Warrior team, though. Steph had 47 last night. Klay Thompson didn't play. Nope. Duran didn't play. Plus Kevin Duran is still out.
Starting point is 00:06:32 But Klay Thompson will be back Friday. And I think KD, I think they said KD's returning for game four. I mean, they all gonna return for game four. Enough's enough now. They're like, even if they're a little injured, they're gonna come back and play, probably. Well, the Golden State Warriors did warm up to that story of Adidon's song as well. Pusha T's joint, yep.
Starting point is 00:06:48 That was disrespectful. It was. But was Drake there? Nah. I mean, it don't matter, though. Why they going at Drake? Drake don't play basketball. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:06:58 That was going at Drake. The Pusha T was going at Drake. Drake goes at them all the time. They got a week. He heckles them. Last night, Drake was posting pictures of Klay Thompson with a bunch of white girls. I don't even know what that meant. He said, stay golden, my friends.
Starting point is 00:07:10 But do you think the Raptors cared that they played Pusha T? The Raptors, I don't think they cared. That was a dig at Drake. Okay, Drake saw that. Just the way you saw that, Drake saw that somewhere, too. The dig would have been winning. That would have been the real thing. Well, you know, that's kind of tough when you don't have, you know, two of your starters.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Klay Thompson, all right, Kevin Durant. He'll be all right, game five. Maybe they should have played push on Friday then when they had everybody back. What else you got, Yee? All right, well, a Texas high school teacher thought she was sending some private messages to Donald Trump about anti-immigration. And this is really sad because she's a high school English teacher in the Fort Worth Independent School District. She's been a teacher there since 1998. And she tweeted, Fort Worth is loaded with illegal students from Mexico.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I really do need a contact here in Fort Worth who should be actively investigating and removing illegals that are here in the public school system. So what's sad about that? I mean, she's trying to get students from the school removed. So they're here in the high school trying to learn. She's a bigot. And she's writing on Twitter, but she's also teaching these students. This is America. I don't know that I would feel comfortable with somebody like that.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Yeah, no, I wouldn't feel comfortable if that was my teacher trying to get those students out of there. We live in a bigoted country. What are we talking about here? Oh, well, she got fired. Exactly. So I'm like, I don't know what's sad about that. She's a bigot.
Starting point is 00:08:23 No, it's sad for the students that they had to have this person as a teacher. Well, it's sad for all of us that we got to live in a bigoted country. Well, what most people in positions of power are bigots. Okay, so anyway, she did get her contract terminated, but she is asking for a hearing to contest her firing. So other allegations did come to light once these tweets did come to light as well because you can imagine what somebody like that who was supposed to be teaching the kids who are our future, what else they're doing in the classroom
Starting point is 00:08:48 that might perhaps be harmful to our students. All right, Oakland is the second U.S. city to decriminalize shrooms. So now people will be able to grow and take magic mushrooms and they don't have to worry about getting arrested because it has been decriminalized. This is crazy. I really need to know what the health benefits of these shrooms are. This is crazy.
Starting point is 00:09:06 You mean to tell me all our life they've been telling us shrooms are dangerous and now they decriminalize them? Like, Jesus Christ. I've known people that have OD'd off shrooms and jumped out of cars and all kinds of stuff. Like, why is shrooms a thing? Well, a lot of supporters say it's a way to become closer with the planet. This is crazy, man.
Starting point is 00:09:23 I mean, the thing about shrooms is they are natural from the earth. It's not like you're making something that wouldn't already exist. As a kid, they told me shrooms was bad, you shouldn't use it, it'd make you crazy, and now you're just gonna decriminalize it. I didn't have any issues. All right. So you would encourage
Starting point is 00:09:39 shroom you, shroom you? I'm just saying. You just chaffed out the teacher, you. Don't be that... You just chaffed out the teacher, ye. Don't be that. You just chaffed out the big of the teacher. Now, don't be that person. I think that anything that you use in excess and you use under the wrong conditions is an issue, but I think if you know what you're doing and you know how to use it properly,
Starting point is 00:09:57 then you'll be okay. All right, that is your Front Page News. All right. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you're upset, you need to vent, hit us up right now. Maybe you had a horrible night or maybe you had a great night. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you're upset, you need to vent. Hit us up right now. Maybe you had a horrible night or maybe you had a great night. Whatever it may be.
Starting point is 00:10:09 800-585-1051. Get it off your chest. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Wake up. Wake up. Wake your ass up. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed, we want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:10:29 Lacey. Hey, get it off your chest. Good morning, good morning, good morning, guys. What's up? Good morning, good morning, good morning. So I met this girl off Tinder, right? And we were dating. And the whole time she told me, like, she was married and they've been split up for a year.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Well, I went to go get my charger from her house and he was sitting on the couch. And I was a little confused because I was like, I thought y'all broke up. The whole time he was like, no, we've been together. I'll leave for the weekend. I'm like, wow, that's the weekend she tells me to come over. Dang.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Well, what you going to do? So you decide shit. Oh, I left her. Like, I left her alone because she had me messed up. She had you effed up. Oh, she had you effed up. She had me get rid of all of my stuff. She had me get rid of girls, other girls and everything, telling me that we was going to be together.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Damn. Oh, she ran that game on you, damn? I didn't know women run that game, too. I thought that was just guys who do stuff like that. Wow. Lady do. She played me all the way to the left and then was like, well, Lacey,
Starting point is 00:11:34 I still want to be with my husband, so it is what it is. Damn. I was like, oh, God. You didn't want to join in? Hell no. Well, she didn't want to be a full-time lesbian like you. She just wanted to be a part-time lesbian, okay?
Starting point is 00:11:46 Are you mad at her because she wanted a temp job? That's some ball. Well, I'm sorry, mama. That's what you get for giving people full-time positions. Well, you sound like you're in good spirits. Right? Marley! Hey, what's up?
Starting point is 00:11:57 Let me get a hit. Hey, what's going on? What's going on? What's going on? Good morning, y'all. You needed a hit? Where you at, Marley? Nah, I was on my way to work.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Let me jump out to Z real quick. So, yo, look. Ye, right? My name, Marley D, y'all. You needed a hit? Where you at, Marley? Nah, I was on my way to work, but let me jump out to Z real quick. So, yo, look, Ye, right? My name, Marley D, the electrician. N.V., y'all all entrepreneurs. Peace, peace. I've been working for this company for like six years. I'm thinking about just jumping off the ledge and starting my own.
Starting point is 00:12:16 I've been doing electrical work out here at NYC for about the last four years for myself. Okay. Business started to pick up. That's good. Y'all can follow me on Instagram at Marley D, the electrician, to check out my work. I get good. You can follow me on Instagram at MarleyDedeElectrician to check out my work.
Starting point is 00:12:26 I get busy. Quality work 24-7. And you got a lot of properties, man. If you ever need an electrician, I'm a young black man trying to do my thing. Check my page out. Hit me up, man.
Starting point is 00:12:35 I'll come hook you up. Where you at? Where you from? I'm in Brooklyn, man, but I do all five boroughs. I got a mentor. He's a black man, licensed electrician.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Okay. I'm trying to do my thing, man. Shout out to him. And you're a licensed electrician as well, right? I'm certified. I'm working on my license. I'm going to be a mass electrician soon. I'm going to get that.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Okay. I'm going to get that. All right, brother. So I just wanted to plug myself. Say good morning to y'all. I like that. You did it the right way. You've been working on it.
Starting point is 00:13:00 You've got some clients built up now from the job that you've been working on. And now that you have that base ready and you feel knowledgeable, you're ready to jump out and start your own business. I love it. Good luck, bro. I'm thinking about it. I'm thinking about it, man. He's thinking about it, ye. I'm trying to do my thing. Sounds like he's ready. Trav, what up, Trav? What's going on, Heavy? How you? I'm good. Trav!
Starting point is 00:13:18 What's up, ye? Hey, Trav. Hey, boo. How you? Good. How you, boo? I'm doing good. What's up, sis? What up, sis? How you? I'm doing good. I'm doing what up sis how you i'm doing good i'm doing good listen man can i talk about this dude real quick that went viral the um it's above me now guy uh-huh yes so everybody seen that video yes yes so in the video he's like you know talking to the white lady and he's telling her oh in this climate you know you can't be saying these type of things and all that which is great and all that.
Starting point is 00:13:45 But I don't know if everybody knows, literally like two days before that, he was going on a whole transphobic rant about how he doesn't like transgenders. And the bad thing is he's actually a very gay, he's actually a gay man. And he's one of those gay men that like to divide the LGBT community. I heard about that, but what that got to do with him experiencing racism? So my whole thing is, like, he put on all this transphobic stuff and started selling T-shirts and then tried to issue an apology, come up with, oh, that's not how he really feels. I can't stand people who literally say stuff about people and then just because they want to get to the bag, they start apologizing.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Well, here's the thing. I didn't know who he was before that. He may be transphobic, but he still experienced racism. Sure did. Like, I hate when we do that because it's like if we don't like racism, we can't like racism across the board regardless of who it happens to. Yeah, no, no. And I totally agree, but at the same time,
Starting point is 00:14:33 you can't be saying that you don't like racism when you're out there discriminating against your own people in your own community. I don't like to see people who get discriminated against discriminate, but he still experienced racism. He did, but he also need to be selling T-shirts after he literally just being transphobic two days before. So you can't be an entrepreneur when you're transphobic either? Like, well, Jesus Christ, Trav. Man, Trav just hangs up when he's done.
Starting point is 00:14:57 My God. They did the same thing when dude got killed, when dude got killed by the police. And then they was like, well, he used to slander black women. His past record, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, what that got to do with anything? He still got killed by the police, and police killing unarmed black men is wrong. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out
Starting point is 00:15:24 of like, this is mine. I own this. It your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Be part of a great colonial tradition. Why can't I create my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh, my God. What is that?
Starting point is 00:15:55 Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series,
Starting point is 00:16:19 The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step.
Starting point is 00:17:43 And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best.
Starting point is 00:18:02 And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Breakfast Club. This is your time to get it off your chest, whether you're mad or blessed. You better have the same energy. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Hello, who's this? Kaden from 757. 757, what's up? Get it off your chest. Well, man, I mean, I'm a little bit sad this morning because I was helping my boy cut his yard the other day, right? Uh-huh. And he had his dog out there, and I had the gas can out there. Well, as I walked away from the dog,
Starting point is 00:18:47 you know, cutting the rest of the yard, the dog went over there and started licking up the gas, right? Uh-oh. So we had to take him to the veterinarian. Immediately, we put everything up, took him to the veterinarian. He was running around,
Starting point is 00:18:59 and he just passed out. So when we got him to the veterinarian, the veterinarian's checking on him and everything, and we're like, oh, man, what's going on? And so all of a sudden, the veterinarian comes back there and he's like, hey, I know what's going on. We're like, what's going on? What's going on? He said,
Starting point is 00:19:16 the dog just ran out of gas. Boo! You know, man, when you started talking about the gas, when you started talking about the gas, I thought I was going to get me a nice hot dog joke off this morning. Oh, my God, that was terrible. Didn't end that way. One person liked it.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Hey, but I've been making funny videos and stuff. Nope. You can't talk to me about being funny after what you just told us. I was really connected. I'm like, damn. Everything about his dogs. You can't talk to me about being funny after you tried to get that lame one off. I really thought something happened with the dog. I was really, I was like, damn, what happened to the dog? Everything about his dogs. You can't talk to me about being funny after you got, after you tried to get that lame one off. I really thought something happened with the dog.
Starting point is 00:19:47 I was concerned. I was like, damn, what happened? I thought the dog was going to end on fire in this story. And I had a nice hot dog pun ready to go. Damn it, man. All right. I was still in laws after. I was like, damn, what happened to the dog?
Starting point is 00:19:59 Hello, who's this? What's up, Andy? What's up, man? Yo. You want to tell us your name? Hey. Yeah, it's Troy out of Virginia. Hey, Troy.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Get it off your chest, bro. Man, yeah, man. I just want to speak on that case about the guys in New York, man. What guys in New York? The guys that got charged with the rape in Central Park. Central Park 5. Central Park 5, okay. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:20:20 I want to know who come up with these numbers, man. $41 million for all them years out of your life, man. Not only did you destroy them guys' lives, man. I want to know, who come up with these numbers, man? $41 million for all them years out of your life, man. Not only did you destroy them guys' lives, man. You destroyed their family lives as well, man. $41 million is not enough. I agree. Well, truth be told, there's no amount of money, though. Nothing.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Not at all. Nothing is enough to give you back your life. Yes, yes. I definitely agree with that. And I'm like, I think they need to go back to the drawing board. Because $41 million, that's crazy, man. That's crazy. Y'all forcing boys to lie on themselves and say they did that, man.
Starting point is 00:20:55 That's ridiculous, man. There are people still looking at them a certain type of way. Their character is destroyed forever. Y'all, that's crazy. Yeah, and the fact that they still are saying that those young men did it when, you know, evidence shows otherwise.
Starting point is 00:21:08 DNA evidence, a confession. And Linda Fierstein's still like, well, I believe they had something to do with it. What? Hello, who's this? Hi, good morning.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Good morning. What's your name, mama? Oh, hi, Andy. Hey, good morning. Hi, Angela. Hi, boo. Is Linda Fierstein there? He's here.
Starting point is 00:21:25 What's up, baby? How are you? I'm good. How are many kids you're making me? This is Sasha. Hi. Wagwan, brethren. Madea, Madea.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Madea, Madea. I've seen the last farewell play. Tyler Perry is amazing. She didn't say Madea. Okay, get it off your chest, mama. Okay, first of all, I just want to say I'm blessed. My baby girl just turned five months. I love you, Mama. You completely
Starting point is 00:21:48 changed my life. Uncle Charlotte, I want to ask you a question. Can I send you a book, Shook One, so that you can autograph it for me? Of course. Where you live at? I live in Miami. Yeah, of course you can do that, baby. Mail it and I'll mail it back.
Starting point is 00:22:04 That's easy. Oh, because my boyfriend, do that, baby. Mail it and I'll mail it back. That's easy. My boyfriend, like, we just had a baby and his anxiety's through the roof, like, ugh, oh my God. But I just want to see if you can, like, write something for him to just let him know that it's okay. We're gonna make it. Everything's fine. We're almost closing
Starting point is 00:22:21 on our house. He just needs to take it easy. That's easy, baby. Please, mail it. We'll put you on hold, and they'll give you the address. Mail it. I'll mail it right back. Hold on, okay? Thank you.
Starting point is 00:22:32 I love you guys. Love you back. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need a vent, you can hit us up anytime. Now, you even got rumors on the way? Yes, find out about an NFL player who got robbed by two women for half a million dollars. My goodness.
Starting point is 00:22:47 All right, we'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ, MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk 50 Cent. It's time. She's spilling the tea. This is the Rumor Report with Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Well, 50 Cent is still collecting money that people
Starting point is 00:23:13 owe him and he posted part of a clip from The Breakfast Club where Young Buck was on. I had no knowledge of legal money and how that rotated. I always got a hold of the paper and put it up in something. Man, I gave this s*** of money, man. I come off this rock-the-mic tour
Starting point is 00:23:29 and 50 telling me, yo, that account that I told you to set up, you need to go check it. I gave this s*** of millions. I came back to 50 like, yo, bro, did you give me the right? Did you write a mail? And he laughed at it like, yo, that's yours. I didn't tell you about taxes. Nah, not at all.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Man, everybody's got to pay for s all. Not at all. You done everything. I want my money Monday. Alright, 50 cent posted that and said I gave this fool the money man he spent it. I paid his taxes, all his legal fees. I can't read the rest. 50 posted that two days ago, so it's a great chance that since then more people have been exposed for
Starting point is 00:24:03 owing 50 cent money. Absolutely. I'm sure. All right. He lends a lot of people money and helps a lot of people out. You would be surprised. How does he give it, though? Because if he gives it to you
Starting point is 00:24:15 and says, look, take care of your taxes. Check your account. You're good. Yeah, you're good. You got to give me some rules and guidelines. I think it's a little bit of both.
Starting point is 00:24:20 I think it's sometimes he knows people are in trouble and they call him and they reach out to him and he's very, you know, 50 never says no. But does he say, you're going to have to pay me back now? I think it's understood. You know what?
Starting point is 00:24:30 It ain't understood. No, no, no. I'm not giving you nothing. You're not my son. Can you borrow the money to pay him back from him? No, you can't borrow money to pay him back. Let me borrow $1,000 to pay you back $1,000. No, you can't do that.
Starting point is 00:24:42 No, if I lend you money, I need it back. Yeah, but if I say to you, yo, man, loan me some money, I'll give it back to you, and I get on my feet,000 to pay you back $1,000? Yeah. No, you can't do that. No, if I lend you money, I need it back. Yeah, but if I say to you, yo, man, loan me some money, I'll give it back to you and I get on my feet, then I owe you. But if you just give it to me because you know I'm in trouble, and I say thank you and we tap each other. No, I need that back. No, you're not my son. I need that money back.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Some things got to be written down. I need that money back. That sounds good. Who just gives out money for free for nothing? 50 Cent? No. All right, Le'Veon Bell. Apparently, two of his girlfriends stole $500,000 worth of jewelry from his home.
Starting point is 00:25:12 Who's that? Le'Veon Bell. He's a New York Jets running back. Okay. Now, he was at his house. He had two of his, quote, girlfriends. That's how he refers to them at his home in Florida. And he discovered the jewelry was missing when he got back from the gym.
Starting point is 00:25:27 So he told authorities that the items in his closet were also in disarray and his girlfriends were nowhere to be found. Those weren't your girlfriends. Amongst the things they took, two gold chains with diamonds, a black panther pendant with black and white diamonds, and a Rolex watch. They all have a combined value of $520,000. I don't care how much you paid them. I don't care how much y'all kicked it.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Those weren't your girlfriends. Now they stealing your stuff, bro. You got got. Yeah. Those aren't your real friends. Those aren't your real friends. They drove off listening to the City Girls. I guarantee it.
Starting point is 00:25:55 All right. Now, Joey Badass, he's going to be playing Inspector Deck in the Wu-Tang and American Saga series. And he was on with Angie Martinez, and here's what he said. No more movie roles that are coming up that week? Oh yeah, not his movie roles.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Oh, tell me please. I love, love, love you as an actor. Me and Dave East is in Wu-Tang. I love that.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Mm-hmm. So, is Dave playing Method Man? I think he's playing Method Man. He's playing Method Man. He has to play Method Man. He's so Method Man. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:26:21 I'm Inspector Deck. That's dope. I always wonder how I feel about that, though, because Wu-Tang Clan is my favorite group of all time. And, you know, I'm glad Dave East and Joey Badass are getting to work. But Wu-Tang is such iconic characters. Method Man wanted Dave East to play him in the movie. But that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:26:37 I wonder if I'll be able to watch that and be able to get past the fact it's Dave East and Joey Badass. You understand what I'm saying? I think you can get past it. Yeah, I think so. I think it'll be good. I've seen some of the other pictures from set. You know what I'm saying? I think it could get past it. Yeah, I think so. I think it'll be good. I've seen some of the other pictures from the set. You know, I used to work for Wu-Tang,
Starting point is 00:26:48 so I saw the guy who's playing Divine. He looks just like him. And then Jamie Hector's in the movie as well, and I just hosted his benefit the other night. So he was running from, and he posted this on his Instagram, from the set to the charity event that he was hosting at the same time.
Starting point is 00:27:03 I can't wait to see this movie. A lot of great actors in this. I definitely can't wait to see it, but those guys are such iconic characters and such iconic figures. So I just hope I can get past the fact that that's Joey Badass on screen and Dave Eat's on screen. But now look at playing Meth and Death. You saw Gravy as Biggie, and you were fine with that, right? Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Gravy wasn't as well-known as Dave and Joey Badass, although. But Dave, looking at Dave now, I kind of see Method Man. I kind of see how they can make Method Man out of Dave. And the other good thing is the guys are involved. So I think that helps, too, when you have the people that they're playing actually helping them out and being involved. I think that's a great thing. We saw Jamie Foxx's Ray, and I thought that was good.
Starting point is 00:27:39 Jamie Foxx bodied that role. Yeah, so that's what I'm saying. So maybe these guys would do a great job. Happy birthday to Davey. You've got to go that deep if you're going to play, you know, iconic characters like that. And Davies is also making his debut with his first movie. It's a Netflix original movie called Beats. So he revealed that as well.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Beats looks at the life of a gifted young man suffering from mental health issues following the death of his sister. And he's starring in Davies will be in that movie as well. All right. I'm Angela Yee. And that is your rumor report. All right. Thank you, Miss Yee. Alright, I'm Angela Yee and that is your Rumor Report. Alright, thank you Miss Yee. Now when we come back, Front Page News, what are we talking about? Well, yesterday we were telling you about the couple
Starting point is 00:28:11 at the Bahia Principe Resort in La Romana in the Dominican Republic. Well, now there's another couple that has come forward talking about an incident they had at that very same resort last year. Alright, we'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:28:25 Good morning, everybody. It's DJ, MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Now let's get into some front-page news. Last night, Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the Raptors beat the Warriors 123-109. They lead the series 2-1. Curry had 47 last night.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Yeah, but Klay Thompson didn't play. Kevin Durant didn't play. Don't worry. The Warriors will be fine. All right, Klay will didn't play. Kevin Durant didn't play. Don't worry. The Warriors will be fine. All right? Klay will be back Friday. I think KD's coming back Friday, too. They said he was a strong, strong possibility for game number four. I'm sure he'll be back this Friday, especially them losing like that. I think
Starting point is 00:28:56 they both come back. What else we got here? All right. Well, let's talk about this Bahia Prince Bay Resort in the Dominican Republic. Now, we told you about a couple that died at that resort, and then you about a couple that died at that resort and then also a Pennsylvania woman who died at that resort also. All of those mysterious circumstances, respiratory problems. Well, now a Colorado couple is talking about
Starting point is 00:29:16 they stayed at that same resort in the Dominican Republic and they stayed there in June of 2018. Things started off well, but then they got so sick, they had to cut their vacation short and go home. Here is what Kaylin Knoll had to say. As soon as we came back to the room, we noticed it smelled like somebody had dumped paint everywhere. We were drooling excessively.
Starting point is 00:29:36 My eyes would not stop watering. That night, we both woke up soaked in sweat at like 4 in the morning and kind of terrified. We booked a flight home before the sun came up. I was having the worst intestinal cramping I've ever experienced. It felt like a chainsaw going through my gut. That's in the DR? Yes, the San Bahia Principe Resort.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Y'all are going to have to hire a publicist. Yeah, they've already released a statement. Now, what they are saying is when they went back, they had a diagnosis from a doctor. And the doctor said likely organophosphate poisoning, which is a reference to pesticides, they say, that were being used on plants all over the resort. They did try to file a lawsuit against the resort. They asked for a million dollars. And the hotel refused to reveal the chemicals they used. They refused to refund their money or anything.
Starting point is 00:30:23 So this case has been stalling in the courts in the Dominican Republic. Nothing that's going to stop women from going there to get their bodies done. Okay. Now, the resort did release a statement. They said the recent deaths aren't connected, and right now they're investigating
Starting point is 00:30:35 and waiting for toxicology reports. Jesus. All right. A Columbus, Ohio doctor was indicted, and that was on 25 counts of murder. That's in connection with allegations of overprescribing pain medication. And that pain medication was for patients who were near death. William Hussel is a doctor who worked at Mount Carmel Health System.
Starting point is 00:30:55 He pleaded not guilty. He's being held on bond. And what they're saying is the deaths took place from February of 2015 to November of 2018. Each of these 25 counts could carry a penalty of 15 years to life if he does get convicted. Now, during initial conversations, the attorney revealed that a doctor, which was Husserl, was administering doses of fentanyl at a level they thought internally was inappropriate and not for a legitimate medical purpose. So they are saying that he did overprescribe these things to hasten the death of patients
Starting point is 00:31:25 that were being treated. That's 25 people. Hmm. I know, right? And Oakland is the second city that's going to decriminalize shrooms. So now they're going to say if you get caught with shrooms, if you grow them any of that, you won't get arrested. So you don't have to worry about that at
Starting point is 00:31:42 all anymore. I don't understand why they decriminalize shrooms. Like what are the benefits of shrooms that somebody can tell us so they don't have to be criminalized anymore? Well people who are fans of it say that it helps you actually connect and become closer to the planet
Starting point is 00:31:57 and... Yeah but it also gives you panic attacks, it gives you anxiety they say that if you got a history of schizophrenia in your family you shouldn't do them or any type of mental illness you shouldn't do them. Well then you definitely. They say that if you got a history of schizophrenia in your family, you shouldn't do them or any type of mental illness, you shouldn't do them. Well, then you definitely shouldn't do them if that's the case. Yeah, it doesn't seem like it's... I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:32:11 I mean, as a kid, they told you you shouldn't do none of it. Now it's okay? Now they say... I guess they told you don't smoke weed. Now in a lot of places, it's legal. All I've ever seen people do is trip out when they do shrooms. Oh, you haven't seen... Well, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:23 I know a guy that jumped out of a car because he said everything looked like Super Mario Brothers when he was on. Really? Yes. I just want to know what the benefits are. Like, if you're decriminalizing something, I want to know why. Like, is there some health benefits to it?
Starting point is 00:32:34 Mm-hmm. All I hear is, what are they? Well, and just so you know, it's decriminalized. That doesn't mean that it is something that you can just give to anybody. You still can't distribute it commercially. It's still forbidden in schools. It's still illegal in most of the rest of the United States.
Starting point is 00:32:48 They must not be arresting a lot of black people. If a lot of black people was doing shrooms, they would not decriminalize it. There must be more white people doing shrooms than black people. That's what that is. All right. Well, that is your Front Page News. All right. Thank you, Miss Ye.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Now, shout out to Irv Gotti and Ja Rule. They were on the show yesterday. And they were talking about college. A lot of people were upset about what they had to say about college. Actually, what Irv Gotti and Ja Rule. They were on the show yesterday and they were talking about college A lot of people were upset about what they had to say about college actually what Irv Gotti said They had two different sides. Let's play a clip of the conversation yesterday. I chose a different route for my boys I said f*** college and I took them with me But if they wanted to go to college Yeah, but they didn't know what they wanted to do. A lot of people gonna be like now that's a bad idea
Starting point is 00:33:24 My kids make six figures. I'm cheating life, basically, for my kids. There was a time when it was illegal for a black person to even learn how to read. So why wouldn't you want your kids to be as smart as they can be? I want my kids to be successful. They can be successful after they go and get educated. They can be successful without college. That they're doing with dad. Every black young f***ing get education. They could be successful without college. That they're doing with that.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Every black young man and woman needs f***ing education. All right, well, let's open up the phone line. 800-585-1051. Is college needed for this day and age? You know, Ja Rule says yes. His daughter went to Hampton. He says he's pushing his kids to go to college. Irv Gotti says no.
Starting point is 00:34:01 You know, I don't necessarily think my kids should go to college. I think that life lessons is more important than getting a college education. 800-585-1051. What do you guys think? I think that it depends. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer for a person, but I wouldn't discourage people from going. I understand some people feel like college is a very expensive debt to take on, but I also feel like for me personally, it was great for me to go to college. I don't regret it. personally, it was great for me to go to college. I don't regret it. I would encourage people,
Starting point is 00:34:27 if you have the means to be able to make it happen, to do it. And I think for many different reasons, which I'll explain when we come back, it's been really beneficial to me. But I know people can also be very successful and not go to college. So I can't say that you have to go or you shouldn't go.
Starting point is 00:34:43 You said, is it needed? Is this dependent on what you want to do? If you want to be an attorney, a doctor, an engineer, you need it. As an attorney, not really, though. You can also just be an apprentice like what Kim Kardashian is doing. I thought you had to go to law school. But, yeah, I mean, I guess it's needed if you get into some of those fields, but it's not needed.
Starting point is 00:34:59 See, I'm with you. Definitely, I wouldn't want my, you can't be a doctor if you don't go to law school. Right, but I'm with you. You can be an attorney without going to college? We just talked about that with Kim Kardashian. I thought she was taking some type of classes be a doctor if you don't go to high school. Right, but I'm with you. You can be an attorney without going to college? We just talked about that with Kim Kardashian. I thought she was taking some type of classes. Yeah, but she's not going to law school. No, she's not.
Starting point is 00:35:10 She's studying under attorneys. That's still a form of school, though. She's not paying to go to any school. She's not attending a school. I don't think you can be an attorney without going to school. Well, that's what she's doing. She's doing, I guess... She's not going to law school.
Starting point is 00:35:22 I don't know about that one. That's what she's doing. That's why people are so mad about that. She's just taking the bars. I thought she was taking some type of classes, though. No. Well, 800-585-1051. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:35:32 Is college needed for this day and age? I don't necessarily think so. I think it depends on what you want to do. But I think we also have to change the curriculum of colleges. We'll talk about it when we come back. 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
Starting point is 00:35:55 I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition.
Starting point is 00:36:11 The Waikana tribe own country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that?
Starting point is 00:36:25 Bullets. Bullets. We need help. We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection,
Starting point is 00:38:10 it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself.
Starting point is 00:38:30 You're trying your best. And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:38:42 or wherever you get your podcasts. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ, MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, if you just joined us, we're talking college.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Yesterday, Irv Gotti and Ja Rule were here. They were talking about college being a necessity. Irv said he doesn't necessarily feel like his son should go to college. Let's hear what they had to say. I chose a different route for my boys. I said, f*** college, and I took them with me.
Starting point is 00:39:11 But if they wanted to go to college. Yeah, but they didn't know what they wanted to do. A lot of people are going to be like, nah, that's a bad idea. My kids make six figures. I'm cheating life, basically, for my kids. There was a time when it was illegal for a black person to even f***ing learn how to read.
Starting point is 00:39:27 So why wouldn't you want your kids to be as smart as they can be? I want my kids to be successful. They can be successful after they go f***ing get educated. They can be successful without college. That they're doing with dad. Every black young man and woman needs f***ing education. And I kind of agree. I absolutely positively agree.
Starting point is 00:39:44 You agree with who? With Irv Gotti. needs f***ing education. And I kind of agree. I absolutely, positively agree. Yes, there's some... You agree with who? With Irv Gotti. Oh. There's some things that you have to go to college for certain jobs, but some of those jobs,
Starting point is 00:39:51 no, you don't necessarily have to. I just remember going to school and some of the classes I had to take, like the periodic table of elements.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Have I ever used that? But I had to memorize that. But I've never used it a day in my life. I didn't have a core curriculum at my college, so I didn't have to take classes I didn't want to take.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Algebra. Pi. What is it? 3.14? I've never used it ever again. But I feel like something is going to be better to do internships and apprentice and things like that. But you can do that and go to college. Yeah, but college really gets you a high bill.
Starting point is 00:40:23 And sometimes the classes, the curriculum needs to change. Those curriculums have been the same for over 200 years, but times have changed. There are some classes too that I took Latin, and the reason why I know English so well is because I took Latin, because a lot of words in the English language derive from Latin. People might say it's a dead language, but it definitely has helped me with my vocabulary
Starting point is 00:40:39 and understanding definitions. But I will say, from college, I've gotten a lot of opportunities that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. And I know people that have raised money from graduates, from alumni of their school and called up and raised millions of dollars to start a company.
Starting point is 00:40:55 I didn't go to college. I'm the wrong person to ask about college, but my wife went to the University of South Carolina, so I hope my daughter's following her footsteps and go to college. And I also want my daughter to be entrepreneurs, but you got to listen to what Irv said. Irv is speaking from the perspective of a seven-figure individual.
Starting point is 00:41:08 Gotti said he took his kids with him. Gotti is an entrepreneur. He has businesses. And nepotism is real. And that's fine. Because that's what we're all hustling for. I didn't have those connects. To be able to pass on more to our kids than just trauma.
Starting point is 00:41:20 And it's a difference between education and certification. Education is what you learn from experience. Certification is what you get from college. You get your bachelor's degree, your associate's degree, your master's degree. That's certification. Education is what you get by being out here living and learning. And then, you know, a lot of people that graduate college, they start off making about $40,000 to $50,000 a year,
Starting point is 00:41:38 which is struggling, which is difficult. Once you have an apartment, you have a car, you pay for your food, and then you pay your loans back, you broke. So you wouldn't change your whole Hampton experience and not gone to college? Well, I was forced to go to Hampton. I was the only person in my family to go to college, so I had no choice. But I'm saying, now that you look back, would you say, well, I would not go there?
Starting point is 00:41:56 Or would you say, because you want your kids to go to college. I see you taking Madison on the school tours and everything. You want your kids to go to college. It depends on what they want to do. If they want to do something that I think they have a strong curriculum, then yes. But, like, my daughter is into real estate. She also thinks she wants to be an attorney. So, you know, going to school, there's no real real estate classes.
Starting point is 00:42:16 They have one class or two classes. There's nothing that really teaches kids about real estate, just like coding. There's not too many classes that make kids take coding classes. These are things that are very important in today's day and age. Now, are you sure about that? Because you haven't been to college in a long time. Are we sure there's not coding classes in college? Yeah, I think there are. No, there are coding classes. There definitely are.
Starting point is 00:42:33 There's not like a coding major in a lot of the colleges that my daughter went to. Are we sure about this? I went to at least nine HBCUs. She could go to a specialized school, too. I went to nine HBCUs and they had coding classes and they had real estate classes, but they didn't have anything as a major to really, you know, they give you a class, but not to really teach you. And sometimes people don't know what they want to do, and then they go to college,
Starting point is 00:42:53 and they take a class and find something that they love. Like, I took screenwriting, I took playwriting, I took all kinds of things that I was somewhat interested in, so now I have the capabilities to do those things that I didn't otherwise. And listen, I would tell kids, too, you know, if you haven't figured it out and you have nothing else to do when you graduate from high school, go to college. It's like going to the gym. It's not going to hurt you. Right.
Starting point is 00:43:12 You know what I'm saying? You're going to get a degree, so while you're trying to figure it out, at least you're in school. And, you know, I'm the wrong person to talk to about this because I didn't go to college, but always remember, you're never as special as me. What? All right? I'm amazing.
Starting point is 00:43:24 What, your mom would tell you you're special because you believe her? I know I'm special. You ain't got anybody to tell me nothing. Okay? Brennan! Yo, what's up? What's up? Oh, man, you need a college, bro.
Starting point is 00:43:33 We're talking college. Is college needed for today's day and age? No, I really don't think so, man. There's a lot of people that go to college and, you know, don't even get jobs in the field that they want the college in, man. You know what I'm saying? What do you do? I'm in the Army. Did you go to college and, you know, don't even get jobs in the field that they went to college in, man. You know what I'm saying? What do you do? I'm in the Army. Did you go to college? I did. And I don't have... I didn't...
Starting point is 00:43:52 You know what I'm saying? I didn't do anything. I'm not doing anything now that I went to college for. Okay, what'd you go to college for? Criminal justice, actually. Oh, you went to be an attorney or a police officer? Uh, not... Well, not necessarily an attorney. At the time, I really didn't know what I wanted to do with it. They told me to pick a major, and police officer? Well, not necessarily an attorney. At the time, I really didn't know what I wanted to do with it.
Starting point is 00:44:09 They told me to pick a major, and that's what I picked. I was young. I didn't even really know what I really wanted at the time. So you still got options? You could be a cop, right? You could be a CO. Corrections officer. Did you feel like you learned anything valuable?
Starting point is 00:44:23 I feel like I learned life lessons, but I don't feel like college was the only way that I could have learned those life lessons. You know what I'm saying? There's a lot of different ways. I mean, trade schools might be even better than colleges. I agree with that. We need to bring back trade schools, man, because you can go get those jobs and get to work
Starting point is 00:44:39 immediately and start making money. People that do air conditions and know mechanics. Absolutely. Yes, I do agree with that do air conditions and, you know, know mechanics. Absolutely. Yes, I do agree with that. Darryl, good morning, Darryl. Hey, what's up, Charlemagne and Envy? What up, King?
Starting point is 00:44:52 Hi. What's up? We're talking college. You think college is needed for today's day and age? No, I don't think it is at all. I ain't go to college. I just got my high school diploma, and I paint cars for a living, and I'm making way more money than people still in college.
Starting point is 00:45:05 That's a great trade. Once they get out of college, they come back and pay what they just got out of college for. You know what is crazy? You say you paint cars and that's a huge industry and people are making millions of dollars and a lot of people don't have a college degree. A lot of people just
Starting point is 00:45:22 have a high school diploma. The fact, you know that wrap that they put over cars to protect your cars? That wrap costs $5,000 if you want to get that wrap on your car. And people are making a killing by just going to school, learning how to put that wrap on cars, and they're making a killing. Now, that's something I think everybody should get into. Learn a freaking trade. You know how many people, you know, sheet metal workers
Starting point is 00:45:42 and the iron and steel workers, they make a lot. Plumbers, they always going to eat. That's right. Always. Brick masons, man. 800-585-1051. We're just having a discussion about college.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Is it needed for this day and age? Call us now at The Breakfast Club. Good morning. C.J. Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, if you just joined us, we're talking about college. Is it needed for this day and age? Now, this conversation came from Irv Gotti and Ja Rule,
Starting point is 00:46:12 who were on the show yesterday. Let's hear it. I chose a different route for my boys. I said, f*** college, and I took them with me. But if they wanted to go to college. Yeah, but they didn't know what they wanted to do. A lot of people are going to be like, no, that's a bad idea. My kids make six figures. I'm cheating life, basically, for my kids. There
Starting point is 00:46:30 was a time when it was illegal for a black person to even learn how to read. So why wouldn't you want your kids to be as smart as they can be? I want my kids to be successful. They can be successful after they go get education. They can be successful without college. That they doing with that. Every black young man and woman needs f***ing education. We keep saying needed. Like, I don't. Nothing's needed. Yeah, I don't think it's needed.
Starting point is 00:46:53 It's needed depending. It's not for everyone. By one time they said college was needed to get a good job. You needed a college education to get certain jobs in certain fields. You needed a degree. I think it depends on what you want to do. Like, if you want to be a doctor, you want to be an engineer, an attorney. We talked about that earlier.
Starting point is 00:47:09 You have to have some type of degree except for, like, four states to be an attorney. So, like, if you want to be in those type of fields, you have to go to school for that. Now, other things, a lot of entrepreneurship, no, you really don't. Well, you know how we were talking about sometimes, you know, they made the laws hundreds of years ago, and now times have changed, and sometimes they have to adjust certain things. I feel the same way with the college curriculum. I feel like, yes, back in the day, a lot of the stuff that we needed,
Starting point is 00:47:36 the periodic tables, okay, cool. But now the times have changed. I don't even know what the periodic tables are, all right? I'm not even going to tell you what I think about when you say periodic. What would you do it? Periodic tables. What would you do it? I'm not even going to tell you what I think about when you say periodic tables. What are you doing? Periodic tables. What are you doing? I'm not saying.
Starting point is 00:47:47 What's H2O? Water. That's periodic tables. That's from the periodic tables. What the f*** does it say water? It's water. You don't never wake up in the morning and say, pour me some H2O. It's water, just H2O though. Nitrogen and oxygen and all that.
Starting point is 00:47:58 But I'm saying, I had to memorize that as a kid in college. Well, yeah, and if you wanted to be like a chemist or something like that, it wouldn't matter for you. But again, like I said, when I was in college, we didn't have a core curriculum, so I only took classes I felt like taking. I was doing photography. I was doing screenwriting. I was doing some fun classes. I think I did religions of African American
Starting point is 00:48:17 people. I took classes like that. The core curriculum should be like entrepreneurial classes. They should make you take those type of classes. They should make you take real estate classes, investment classes. They should make you take those type of classes. They should make you take real estate classes, investment classes. They should make you take those type of classes. I agree with the person who called last break, man. Trade school is the move because you can go there and learn. It's so many different, like think about the elevator installers and repairers.
Starting point is 00:48:37 The other day the elevator got stuck here at the radio station. That's what they had to call. You know what I'm saying? If that's what you're interested in. Yeah, but I'm saying electrical and electronic repairers, boilermakers. Like, if you want to make some money, learning to trade is the way to go. Hello, who's this? Alicia.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Hey, Alicia. We're talking, is college needed for this day and age? Well, as a person who acquired her master's from NYU, absolutely. But I feel that you can acquire education through multiple ways. You don't necessarily have to acquire your education through multiple ways. You don't necessarily have to acquire education through one venue. Because after living in multiple countries
Starting point is 00:49:09 and looking at externships, apprenticeships, I feel that there are other ways. But having an education is crucial because you have to know where you came from to know where you're going. I think it's a difference between education and certification. Education is what you learn from experience. Certification is what you get from college. Because you've got to think, you've got highly educated people like Malcolm X who didn't go to college.
Starting point is 00:49:28 Is it because they read everything in the library and they lived life experience? Right. And I don't disagree. But I'm a person who's an educator. I'm a school teacher. I work with at-risk kids. And I work as well as in the mental health field. So those things that I acquired while being a, this is my second, like this,
Starting point is 00:49:46 this is my second life at education because I was a dancer first. I toured all over and then I went back and got my education so that I could be a teacher so that I can make a difference on another level. So in order for that to happen, I had to have that education. I had to have that knowledge.
Starting point is 00:50:01 It would take me even longer to acquire that knowledge or be certified within that place of where you have that certification for you to say, hey, this piece of paper says I'm qualified to teach. No. This piece of paper just says that for the other folks who need to not understand that I have the tool, the knowledge,
Starting point is 00:50:18 this is for you. But for me, being able to say I can do this on another level, you have to acquire education. Thank you, Mama. But you know what I was thinking? We both were saying the same thing. Right.
Starting point is 00:50:33 When I took my daughter on that college tour, and we went to about nine to 11 schools, and she was talking to the different counselors, and they were talking about different majors. And when they said that, yeah, after four years, you get a job, and you make anywhere from $42,000 to $50,000, my daughter was like $42,000 to $50,000? My daughter was like $42,000 to $50,000. My daughter, she did the math herself. By the time I get a place to live, a decent car, food, and I got to pay these loans back if I have a loan, how much money do I have left? I have nothing left.
Starting point is 00:50:56 I can't enjoy myself. And what winds up happening? You have to get credit cards. Now you're in debt. Now your credit card, now your credit sucks. And now you're back into the same hole that you were in. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:51:07 College was a life-changing experience for me. It was a nice transition from high school to real life for me. It was a great way for me to learn how to be an adult, but still be in an environment with people that are like-minded like me and people that I have, you know, friendships with forever, networking with, people that I do business with still to this day. And I do feel that I learned a lot in college, and I wouldn't take that back. It was a great experience for me personally. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:51:29 It was a great experience. It depends what kind of life you're living. Like I said, education and certification are two different things. I think education is just life experience, living and learning. You know what I'm saying? Networking with people. That's a great experience as well. 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:51:44 We're talking college this morning. Is it needed for this day and age? Call us now. It's The Breakfast Club. Hey, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, if you just joined us, we're talking,
Starting point is 00:51:55 is college needed for today's day and age? We're taking your calls. A lot of people on the line. It's definitely not needed. Sleaze, what up, Sleaze? Sleaze, what college did you graduate from, my brother? Huh, Sleaze? I ain't go to college. No!
Starting point is 00:52:10 Nah, I don't believe that, Sleaze. Nah, I ain't go to college, but at the same time, you don't need to go to college to be a successful individual or anything like that. What do you do, Sleaze? I work at the airport. Okay. What you do at the airport, bro? I'm actually
Starting point is 00:52:26 a cook at the airport. Okay. At what restaurant? Landshark, but they just closed. They renovating right now. So you a chef? You went to culinary school or something? Nah, I actually just learned from my peoples, but you know. Who is your peoples? Sleaze?
Starting point is 00:52:42 Huh? You know how that goes. So you used to cook crack, and then you turned that into Sleaze. Hey, man. Huh? You know how that goes. Okay. So you used to cook crack, and then you turned that into, you know, being a good chef? See, that's a stereotype right there, Charlotte. Terrible. I'm going to tell you what another stereotype is. I don't want no f***ing name Sleaze cooking my goddamn food. All right?
Starting point is 00:52:58 I hope you don't say that. Sleaze might be good busy, Sleaze. That's just my moniker. My name's Kavar. All right, Kavar Alright Kavar There you go Thank you bro You don't need to go to college
Starting point is 00:53:08 To be a successful individual Look at you That's very true But I'm special When y'all gonna realize I'm special? Your mama tell you you're special? I know I'm special Brianna
Starting point is 00:53:19 God shines on me a different way Hey y'all This is Bri from West Oh my god Can I be on the phone with you guys? What's up Bri? Hey Hey what's up This is Bama from West... Oh, my God. Can I be on the phone with you guys? What's up, Bree? Hey.
Starting point is 00:53:25 Hey, what's up? This is Ramya from West Philly. I think that you don't really necessarily need to go to college because think about it. I work with people that have bachelor's that's making the same as me.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Like, they salty, but it's like they got all this debt. They can't even enjoy their money. They can't even make money. They salty.
Starting point is 00:53:40 They got all this debt. It's like, damn. It's the truth. Like, we on the same level, sister. You went to where? I'm in community. Like, not to doubt you.
Starting point is 00:53:50 I mean, you don't have to put nobody down, but it's like, eh, don't put me down because you got all these debts. Your entrepreneurial skill is probably different. You know what I'm saying? You probably know how to hustle and do and make some money on your own. They probably looking to get jobs. They is. Well, since you talking about hustling, Uncle Charlotte, I have a
Starting point is 00:54:06 podcast that's on Apple Podcasts. Okay. It's Sip and Chet, and it's Brie and Brie and it's Black Girl Magic. I'm about to cry because I've been waiting for this opportunity. I listen to, you know, every day I read your books. I listen to Liz Service and, you know, Gia, and like, I'm about to cry.
Starting point is 00:54:22 What's the name of your podcast? It's Sip and Chet. The picture is Black Girl Magic and it your podcast? It's Flippin' Chet. The picture is Wet Girl Magic. It is by Bree and Bree. We talk about everything. It's a dynamic melanin duo. I'm about to cry. She's sweet.
Starting point is 00:54:34 I'm the sultry. So it's like, it's popping. We talk about everything. We even always coach you. So don't get mad. I appreciate it. Everybody go check out Bree and Bree. I still can't understand the name of your podcast.
Starting point is 00:54:46 No, no. I ain't going to lose this opportunity over Charlotte. It's called Sip and Chat on Apple Podcasts. Oh, Sip and Chat. Sip and Chat. All right. I got you. Yes, and the picture is called Black Girl Magic.
Starting point is 00:54:57 You see it. Not them other ones because I'm at the trade market because they want it. It's Sip and Chat. All right, Mama. All right, baby. I respect the hustle thank you you got it hello who's this hey now we're asking do you think it's college needed for today's day and age um personally not for everything but i'm a college student from a poorer neighborhood, so college is important to me. I feel like education is important.
Starting point is 00:55:26 Like Darul said, I do feel like because my ancestors fought for education, we should take up the opportunity. There's nothing wrong with educating ourselves. As black people in the black community, education is important. It's essential. For some people, it gives us purpose. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:55:44 Well, thank you, Mama. I'm with it. Thank you. I just people, it gives a purpose. Okay. All right. Well, thank you, Mama. I'm with it. Thank you. I just really think they need to change the curriculum. And I told you a story about the guy I was on a panel with that went to Duke, and he said he couldn't raise any money for his company that he started, and then he started, somebody recommended, why don't you hit up the alumni from your college?
Starting point is 00:55:59 And he went and hit up alumni that he never even met before, and he raised millions of dollars that way, just because they went to the same college. And I would also say, man, I would tell kids, if you haven't figured it out and you have nothing else to do and you graduate from high school, go to college. It's like going to the gym. It's not going to hurt you.
Starting point is 00:56:14 But also, don't sleep on trade school because people leave trade school and go and get jobs immediately. But don't listen to me because I didn't go to college, nor did I go to trade school, and none of y'all are as special as me. I don't know. I mean, your mom said you special. Who else said you special? God.
Starting point is 00:56:29 I am blessed black and highly favored. Okay. Definitely special. God shines his light on me in a different way. So please don't look at me as an example because you'll never be me. All right. Special education. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:56:38 And shout to all the trade schools out there. Shout to Lincoln Tech. Shout to all the students out there that's really trying to get a trade and really trying to get it in, man. Trade school is the wave. I'm telling you. Like, everything in this room requires somebody to have some type of trade, some type of skill. Because they got to fix the microphones, fix the boards, fix the computers, everything in this building.
Starting point is 00:56:55 The elevator got stuck the other day. They had to call the elevator repair people. Plumbers. Like, go learn a trade. You will make money immediately. Absolutely. All right. Now, we got rumors on the way? Yes.
Starting point is 00:57:05 Since we're talking about being successful, let's talk about this billionaire that might be on Shark Tank. Did he go to college? I don't think so. All right. We'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJMV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:57:22 Hey, good morning, Natina. Natina is an exec at Def Jam. She has us on right now. good morning, Natina. Natina is an exec at Def Jam. She has us on right now. Good morning, Natina. Drop one of the clues, Bob, for Natina. Natina. One of my favorite people in this business. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:57:34 She works at Def Jam. That's right. Hey, bestie. Exec at Def Jam. Right now, she's like, please don't say nothing crazy, Charlamagne. Exactly. Please. Fingers crossed.
Starting point is 00:57:43 She probably like, why are you always talking itch about me if I'm one of your favorite people? I don't talk about Natina. Yeah, you do, just a little bit. No, I don't. And about Def Jam.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Well, you know, Def Jam can do better. There you go. Listen, Def Jam sees their quarterly numbers, they know they can do better. All right, let's leave. You think they don't know?
Starting point is 00:57:59 All right, let's get to the rumors. Let's talk. Oh! Listen up. It's just in. All the gossip. Gossip. The rumor report. Gossip. Angela Oh! Listen up. It's just in. Oh, the gossip. Gossip.
Starting point is 00:58:05 The rumor report. Gossip. Gossip. With Angela Yee. It's the rumor report. The Breakfast Club. Well, Jay-Z, people want to see him on Shark Tank. Amongst those people that want to see him, because he's a billionaire, is Barbara Corcoran.
Starting point is 00:58:18 Here's what she had to say. He's a self-promoter. He works his ass off. Why shouldn't he be a billionaire? Is he, like, the best? He'd be the ultimate shark, right? He's like the best businessman. I bet he'll be a guest shark.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Why not? I'll make sure he gets invited. Who the hell is that woman? Who is that? You don't know who Barbara Corcoran is? No. She's a big real estate mogul who's on Shark Tank. Mogul on Shark Tank.
Starting point is 00:58:37 You never heard of Corcoran Real Estate? She sold a lot of New York. She owns a lot of New York. She's huge. But Corcoran is a real estate agency all over. And she's on Shark Tank. You don't know Shark Tank? As much as you like. See, this is y'all problem. You like to say explain New York. She's huge. But Corcoran is a real estate agency all over. And she's on Shark Tank. You don't know Shark Tank? See, this is y'all problem. You like to
Starting point is 00:58:47 say explain everything. Explain what water is. But when you know something, you think everybody knows it. You should have said, who is Barbara Corcoran? Whatever her name is. She's telling me we're changing around. And when I don't know something, I say explain it. Then people should know. Wait, hold on. You don't watch Shark Tank?
Starting point is 00:59:03 No, I don't. Oh, wow. But everybody watches Shark Tank but you. No, I don't. Oh, wow. Okay. But everybody watches Shark Tank but you. No, they don't. And see, I don't think that. I don't think that. That's why I explain everything. Shark Tank is always on, too.
Starting point is 00:59:12 That's why I even. Now I want to explain why you, I understand why you explain everything. I love Shark Tank. Same goes for you. You don't assume people know who that is. I just don't. When I explain it, everybody should know Envy. Well, you be, no.
Starting point is 00:59:22 Okay, my bad. I'm sorry. I did think that. I did think that. What is? Nike.. Okay, my bad. I'm sorry. You'd be like, explain what Nike is. I did think that... Explain what what is? Nike. What is Nike? See what I'm saying? See?
Starting point is 00:59:28 I did think that Barbara Corcoran was well-known, but I guess not. All right, now Lee Daniels is developing a... Explain who Lee Daniels is. He is a gay icon. Drop on the clues, Bob. Why can't he just be an icon? Because he's a gay icon. Not a regular icon?
Starting point is 00:59:46 No. Nothing regular about Lee Daniels. Anyway, he's developing a Sammy Davis Jr. miniseries, and he's doing it with Tom Hanks. Who are these people? Yo, stop it. Yo, shut up. You know who Tom Hanks is.
Starting point is 00:59:58 Go ahead, Yee. So they haven't given us an official release date. And Tyler Perry. Never heard of him. Tyler Perry. Who's that? You would think that. Imagine you wanted to get a job working for Tyler Perry.
Starting point is 01:00:12 And you're like, let me be creative. Not just going to give somebody my headshot and a resume. This one woman decided to actually get a whole billboard. Raquel Bailey is her name. I thought that was amazing. She paid thousands of dollars to put billboards up in Atlanta asking Tyler Perry for a job. I thought that was great. The billboard said, attention, Mr. Perry, Raquel Bailey is your next leading lady.
Starting point is 01:00:31 Well, he posted it, but he didn't think it was so great. He said, so here's the deal. This is not the way to get my attention. If you're looking for a role in one of my shows, please don't do this. Save your money. This is the third time that someone has done this. Please stop. To audition is free. I'm sure you can use that money for a better purpose. I love that you want to work with me and I love that you invest
Starting point is 01:00:51 in yourself. But when you do things like this, it puts my team on high alert and makes me look at you sideways. I know the message that you want to send is a positive one, but this comes across as the opposite. Well, it definitely got Tyler's attention. It just didn't get her a job. The only thing that's going to get her a job is for her to go in there, audition and be good. Correct. And then she'll get a job. But it definitely did get his attention. And that's what she wanted. I thought that was amazing. I thought that was great. I was like, yo, that's smart.
Starting point is 01:01:15 That's great marketing. It did the opposite of what she wanted though, but hopefully somebody will give her a job now. If it's not Tyler Perry, maybe somebody else. Well, they're not going to get her a job because of the billboard. They're going to get her the job because she's actually good. Now, will she get called into some more auditions because of that billboard? Maybe. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:01:30 There's no guarantee. Right. But at least people will know who she is. Now, if she put that billboard up, if she comes for a casting call, you might pay extra attention to her just because of that billboard. Yeah, you're the woman that was on the billboard. But if you trash, they're going to be like, yo, you know the girl that's on the billboard? She came in to audition
Starting point is 01:01:46 and she's terrible. She's trash. They're going to remember her even more. Correct. Although some people have good auditions and bad ones.
Starting point is 01:01:51 Good days, bad days. All right, I'm Angela Yee and that's your rumor report. All right, thank you, Miss Yee. Charlemagne. Yeah, speaking of billboards. Charlemagne, can you explain
Starting point is 01:01:58 who Charlemagne is? I am a, that's, no, that's true. That's why our consultant Dennis Clark said we should always reintroduce ourselves to people because we're always on a new market. So this is the Breakfast Club. Charlemagne, the's true. That's why our consultant, Dennis Clark, said we should always reintroduce ourselves to people because we're always on a new market. So this is The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Charlemagne. We're a nationally syndicated radio show. I am Charlemagne. I'm one-third of The Breakfast Club. Yes. Charlemagne used to be dark-skinned. He's light-skinned. He fondles me every morning.
Starting point is 01:02:18 This is dark-skinned by the way he's talking about. That's the only one he caught. He said, the dark-skinned one I don't know about. I don't know this dog skin person that used to fondle you. Who is this guy? If there's a dog skin man in here fondling you, you should tell somebody. We could all be in danger. Danger.
Starting point is 01:02:34 Who you give that doggy to, man? We need a young man named Chad Focus to come to the front of the congregation. We'd like to have a word with him, okay? This is... I don't even know what you call this, but we're going to talk about it for after that. All right, that's next. Keep it locked.
Starting point is 01:02:46 This is The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
Starting point is 01:02:59 I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There's 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tried my country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that?
Starting point is 01:03:29 Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
Starting point is 01:05:30 I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best. And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 01:05:45 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Keyhole. Donkey of the day. The Breakfast Club, bitches. Now, I've been called a lot in my 23 years, but donkey of the day is a new one. Donkey of the day for Thursday, June 6th goes to a Baltimore rapper named Chad Focus. Chad, I need to talk to you. And I need to talk to everyone taking penitentiary chances for their career, okay? Nothing wrong with investing in yourself. In fact, you should invest in yourself, but it's the right way to invest in yourself and the wrong way to invest in yourself.
Starting point is 01:06:28 We'll get back to that in a moment, okay? Guess what Chad wants to be, ladies and gentlemen? I told y'all already, right? A rapper, okay? Listen, I tell every aspiring artist I meet that on the road to chasing your dreams, investing in your dreams, you also have to deal and invest in your reality,
Starting point is 01:06:44 okay? Your reality is bills need to be paid, you need to eat, rent is due, car payments, whatever. Okay. You got monthly fees, just like the rest of us. And one thing I can't stand to see is someone putting all their eggs in one basket. All right. You can't limit yourself to one hustle. So once again, in the pursuit of your dreams, you have to deal with your reality. But for some reason, people think they can't do both. It's so strange to me, especially, you know, these kids that are in college, like it's 24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week.
Starting point is 01:07:11 If you're working 40 hours a week, whatever job it is, it doesn't matter, whatever it is, you can take care of your monthly bills. If you go to school, you might be in class 20 hours a week. You can even add on another 20-year study time just to be safe. That's 80 hours a week accounted for, alright? Job, school. So you still got
Starting point is 01:07:27 88 hours to play with. You can do whatever you want with that 88 hours because your reality is being taken care of. So if you want to pursue a music career, be a producer, if 88 hours a week isn't enough time to fit that in, then you're not hustling right to me. Now, Chad Focus is his name. He
Starting point is 01:07:43 had a day job, alright? He was dealing with his reality. He worked as a search engine optimization specialist for several years at an unnamed company. I don't even know what a search engine optimization specialist is, but it's a job he had for several years. And the company gave him an American Express card. So this ain't no job. This is a career, right? If you get an Amex card, right? Yep.
Starting point is 01:08:04 To make company purchases on it? Mm-hmm. All right. Now, if you got a job for several years, right? If you get an Amex card, right? Yep. To make company purchases on? Mm-hmm. All right, now, if you got a job for several years, I would assume you're making enough money to invest. Maybe not the way you want to, of course, but you got something to make some kind of investment into your career, rap career. Nonetheless, Chad Focus had a bright idea,
Starting point is 01:08:19 ladies and gentlemen. A bright idea that has landed him in jail. I think we know where this is going. I mean, come on. To be a successful rapper, you have to have some kind of jail record, right? Let's go to WJZ CBS 13 for the report, please. Baltimore rapper known as Chad Focus looked to be living a lavish lifestyle,
Starting point is 01:08:36 showing off cars and money and a major social media following, but prosecutors say it was all allegedly paid for with stolen money. He looked like an artist on the rise. His music videos averaging 4 million views on YouTube with thousands of followers on Instagram. An indictment released Tuesday says Arrington worked as a search engine analyst at an unnamed company where he was issued a company credit card for business expenses. But prosecutors say that between January 2015 and August 2018, he used it to make 4.1 million dollars in unauthorized purchases. Purchases such as concert tickets,
Starting point is 01:09:13 billboards, audio equipment, and travel expenses. The indictment also says he brought followers on social media and paid outside platforms to artificially increase plays on streaming services. He took a number of steps to basically cover up his tracks and make it much, much harder HE TOOK A NUMBER OF STEPS TO COVER UP HIS TRACKS AND MAKE IT MUCH MUCH HARDER FOR HIS EMPLOYER TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HE WAS DOING AND STEALING OVER THE COURSE OF TIME. THOSE STEPS INCLUDE ALLEGEDLY FORGING SIGNATURES FROM SUPERVISORS SIGNING OFF THE PURCHASES AND HAVING
Starting point is 01:09:30 CO-CONSPIRITORS USE COMPUTER SOFTWARE TO FALSIFY BILLING STATEMENTS. THE BALTIMORE RAPPER'S CAREER NOW COMING TO A SCREECHING END AS HE FACES UP TO 20 YEARS BEHIND BARS FOR CONSPIRITORS. THE BALTIMORE RAPPER'S CAREER
Starting point is 01:09:38 IS NOW COMING TO A SCREECHING END AS HE FACES UP TO 20 YEARS BEHIND BARS FOR CONSPIRITORS. THE BALTIMORE RAPPER'S CAREER IS NOW COMING TO A SCREECHING END AS HE FACES UP TO 20 YEARS BEHIND BARS FOR CONSPIRITORS. THE BALTIMORE RAPPER'S CAREER IS NOW COMING TO A SCREECHING END AS HE FACES UP TO 20 YEARS BEHIND BARS FOR CONSPIRITORS. Conspirators use computer software to falsify billing statements. The Baltimore rapper's career now coming to a screeching end as he faces up to 20 years behind bars for conspiracy, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft.
Starting point is 01:09:53 Lord have mercy. Chad want to be a city girl so bad. My God. He's way ahead if someone was going to be scammed this season. Chad Focus, you should change your focus. All right, you just ruined your rap career. You just ruined your life, all right, for a rap career that was never going to happen for you.
Starting point is 01:10:11 All right, let me tell you something. If you invest four point something million dollars into your rap career, and I've never heard of you until now, you must be trash, all right? Chad Focus had a billboard in Times Square. The billboard said, Chad Focus, number one artist in the world.
Starting point is 01:10:35 Has anybody here ever seen that billboard? I've never seen it. I've never seen it either. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to see it, did it really fall? Hell yes, it did. If a billboard goes up in Times Square and nobody notices, did you waste your money on it? The answer is hell yes, you did.
Starting point is 01:10:50 All right? Now instead of a record deal, Chad Focus has a federal indictment, and he is charged with wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft. As I said, it's a right way to invest and a wrong way to invest. This was indeed the wrong way. Please give Chad Focus the sweet sounds of the Hamiltones. Oh, now you are the donkey of the day. You are the donkey of the day.
Starting point is 01:11:23 Yee-haw. Yeah, that wasn't too bad. I want the record to show it wasn't until about 15, 20 seconds ago that I said, yo, we should actually download this music and hear what it sounds like. But I'm not doing it. I'm fighting the urge.
Starting point is 01:11:37 Nope. Your investment was terrible. All right? Your investment sucked, Chad. I'm not giving you that. I'm not downloading your music. Know it while I play it. He spent a lot of bread.
Starting point is 01:11:48 Four point something million dollars. How does his music sound? I have no idea. We don't know. Know it while I find out. Don't care. All right. Well, thank you for that donkey dick.
Starting point is 01:11:56 If you're going to be a scammer, you got to have jamming music. Ask the city girls. All right. Up next, ask Yee. 800-585-1051. If you need relationship advice or any type of advice, call Yee right now. It's The Breakfast Club. Come on in.
Starting point is 01:12:11 The Breakfast Club. I got bullies, wreckers, break that, break that. Teach me, baby. Turn around and teach me, baby. You got what I want and need, baby. Let me hear you say, please. Let me hear you say, please. Please, baby.
Starting point is 01:12:34 Turn around and tease me, baby. You got what I want and need, baby. Let me hear you say, please. Let me hear you say please. Let me hear you say please. You used to call me on my cell phone. Fizz Club, it's time for Ask Yee. Hello, who's this? It's King John, man.
Starting point is 01:13:04 What up? What's up, bro? What's your question for Yee? Man, I's this? It's King John, man. What up? What's up, bro? What's your question for Yee? Man, I wanted to basically know how to get out the friend zone with this one chick. Basically, bro, I kind of set myself up, and I just try to figure out how to get out the friend zone. Okay, so friend zone. So she doesn't know that you like her. I mean, I think she do, but at the same time, I don't want to come out with that.
Starting point is 01:13:28 Because I don't know. It basically builds a friendship with her where we talk to each other about everything. Like, I know the dudes she mess with. She know the females I mess with. But I'm trying to, like, get out of that and, like, let her know, like, I want you. Have you taken her out on a date yet? Yeah, yeah. We actually, we went out before, and I bought her, you know, I bought her something for her birthday or whatever. You know, little stuff like that, but nothing serious, though.
Starting point is 01:13:51 Well, since you guys are already so close with each other, maybe you should ask her to go on vacation with you. Yeah, that's dope, though. I'm supposed to be going to Orlando, too, in July, so that's dope. Well, I don't know if you went by her. Because I don't know how to really do that, though. How can I, like, really ask her? What are you going to Orlando for? Uh, just a family vacation. I'm taking my son
Starting point is 01:14:07 down there. Oh, and she knows your son already? Yeah, yeah, she knows my son. I just want to make sure that's not a weird situation to have her around your whole family. She knows your whole family. No, that she don't. She don't know my whole family. So you would like for you guys to start talking, but I don't know if that's a good time, because that's a lot
Starting point is 01:14:23 of pressure. Yeah, I mean, what you think I could do to, like, get her to, like, to kind of make that move to, like, get her to see me in a different way? I think that you guys should do something together. It shouldn't be a family vacation. That's too much too soon. But it should be the two of you one-on-one. And I wouldn't even have your son involved. I think it should just be the two of you, even if it's like a weekend getaway.
Starting point is 01:14:43 And that's how you can tell, A, if she decides to go with you and you guys decide to share a room, then clearly she's maybe interested as well. And then you can let her know if the vibe is right while you're on that trip, that you like her and see if she feels the same. Okay, I appreciate that. But I do feel like if she agrees to go with you, knowing that it's kind of a romantic trip of the two of you, then she must have some type of feeling.
Starting point is 01:15:04 But if you want to take it to the next level, you got to make those moves. Right, right, right. it's kind of a romantic trip of the two of you, then she must have some type of feeling. But if you want to take it to the next level, you got to make those moves. Right, right, right. That's true. I just want to say real quick, y'all let me go. I love y'all show and I check y'all out every time I get a chance to. You know what I'm saying? But one time y'all get a chance, check me out. I'm King John, man. I got a new album
Starting point is 01:15:19 out. All right, bro. Have a good one, man. Okay. You too. Ask Yee. 805585-1051. If you need relationship advice, call her right now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. All right, cool. Good morning, everybody.
Starting point is 01:15:34 It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We're in the middle of Ask Yee. What line you want to go to, Yee? Line three. Hello, who's this? Hi, this is Anonymous. Hey, Anonymous. What's your question for Yee. What line you want to go to, Yee? Line three. Hello, who's this? Hi, this is Anonymous. Hey, Anonymous. What's your question for Yee?
Starting point is 01:15:48 Okay, so I am 19 and my boyfriend is like 10 years older than me. And so recently we got into a huge argument and he's like, you can't do anything without me, this, this, and that. So I went and
Starting point is 01:16:03 got me another apartment. Okay. And signed the lease. And he doesn't know yet. But my question is, like, when is a good time to tell him? I was thinking, like, give him a month of time or just not tell him at all and just move out. So you guys are breaking up.
Starting point is 01:16:18 Yeah, but he doesn't know that. He thinks everything is all kumbaya because he does this a lot. Like, he's like, he says things to try to, like, mentally break me down. And I'm just over it at this point. Okay, well, right or wrong, I'm going to tell you what I would do if it was me. When does your new lease start? It starts August the 1st. And you'll be living there with him until then?
Starting point is 01:16:40 Yes. I would probably wait until he's not home. I know he's not going to be there. Pack up all my stuff, get on up out of there, and then let him know once my stuff is gone and I'm not there anymore. Oh, that's good. Yeah, that's what I would do. Just because clearly he's mentally abusive to you,
Starting point is 01:16:55 has he ever put his hands on you? Well, he tried, and I beat his ass up. Yeah, once things start getting physical and all of that, I wouldn't trust it. So I wouldn't want to have to stay someplace with somebody who might get physical with me. So what I would do is on a day when I know he's not going to be home all day, if I have to take off from work while he's at work, make sure I get all my stuff up out of there. And then once I'm gone, be like, I probably wouldn't even, I might not even call him.
Starting point is 01:17:19 I might just leave a note and be like, hey, told you I didn't need you anymore. Have a good life. Oh, yeah, that's good. I think I might do that. All right. Well, good luck, and I'm glad you're getting out of a toxic relationship. Thank you so much. All right. We're proud of you. Okay, bye-bye. All right. Good luck, Mama. Ask Yee
Starting point is 01:17:35 800-585-1051 if you need relationship advice or any type of advice, you can call Yee now. Now, we got rumors on the way, Yee? Yes, we have that 911 call that was made with Jussie Smollett when he was allegedly attacked in Chicago. So we'll play that for you. All right, we'll get into all that when we come back.
Starting point is 01:17:52 Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee. Rumor has it. On The Breakfast Club. So they have released the phone call, the 911 call that Jussie Smollett's manager made when Jussie Smollett was allegedly attacked in Chicago.
Starting point is 01:18:17 Now here is that call. I just need a police to come by. I work with an artist. I don't really want to say his name. But he went to some way. He was walking by some guys. I don't know if he jumped him or something like that. And I just want to report it and make sure he's all right.
Starting point is 01:18:33 Does your friend need an ambulance? I just think he's startled. Well, it's really weird, ma'am, just because I'm scared. I don't know what it is. They put a noose around his neck. Okay, and this is a well-known person? Yes, it is. All right.
Starting point is 01:18:47 Watch for the police. All right, so they finally have just now released that call. Now, Wendy Williams. What did that prove? Like, what was the point of that? Just to say it? I mean, right now, all this information is getting leaked from the case and getting released. So this is just the first time we've all heard this 911 call that was made when it happened.
Starting point is 01:19:05 I don't know what it proves, but it does. It don't prove anything. It proved Jussie called his manager after whatever situation happened. And his manager relayed the message that Jussie gave him. Right. And they said that he didn't want to file a report, but he was going to make Jussie file a report. All right. Wendy Williams, she's trying to do a
Starting point is 01:19:21 sit-down interview and allegedly she wanted to do it maybe perhaps on Gil King, but Gil King felt like it might be a little bit too much for her show. I don't believe that. Even though Gil King was at the top of Wendy's list, they said her people want either a morning show or an hour-long primetime special. They wanted to sit down with a big-name anchor. They said Gil King was at the top of the list, according to the Daily Mail,
Starting point is 01:19:44 but she turned it down. Gil King said it's not clear the list according to the Daily Mail, but she turned it down. Gil King said it's not clear. They said it's not clear why Gil King turned it down, but there's a lot of talk that they felt like maybe it was a little
Starting point is 01:19:52 too trashy for morning television. I don't believe that story at all. I think that is a completely... Yeah, that would be ratings gold.
Starting point is 01:19:58 I think that's a completely made up story. You said, oh, a morning show? That would be ratings gold. I can't see why. In the Daily Mail. In the morning show?
Starting point is 01:20:07 The Daily Mail is usually accurate. They broke a lot of the stories about Wendy. Yeah, and if Gayle did turn it down, it's probably because she just doesn't want to do it at the moment because she probably wants Wendy to heal, but I don't believe any of that, oh, it's messy. She don't want to do it. Nonsense.
Starting point is 01:20:22 All right, Dwayne Wade is putting out his memoirs, and that's going to come out in October. It's called Three Dimensional, so it's going to focus on his life story and his professional accomplishments. And that follows his story, A Father First, How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball. That book came out in 2012.
Starting point is 01:20:40 All right, Michael Jackson's estate is now saying that HBO is in breach of a contract. And that's because they had a non-disparagement clause back in 1992. Michael Jackson had that non-disparagement clause with HBO. So now the estate is suing for $100 million, saying that HBO was in breach of contract when they developed an air leaving Neverland because they had that longstanding contractual relationship. All right, so now Lathan. She said that when she was filming Love and Basketball, it was miserable for her. Now, part of the reason was she had to learn how to play basketball.
Starting point is 01:21:16 She had all these professional NBA players around her. It was a lot of stress, a lot of pressure. And she also did not feel like she was the top pick for that role. They really wanted a basketball player who could act. But when that didn't work out, she was kind of like the, you know, consolation, I guess. Here's what she said. I was miserable because I got the job, and I think Gina, you know, it finally got to the point where she had to hire somebody, and when she, it's almost like she hired me because she couldn't find somebody else. So it wasn't, there wasn't a lot of joy and there wasn't a lot of trust in me. You felt like the default pick. I was like the default and that's hard. First of all she did a phenomenal job. She did.
Starting point is 01:21:53 Listen we would never think that though watching that movie it looked like she was you know she killed it. Well did they want a basketball player to play Omar Epps part because Omar Epps was pretending to be a basketball player in that movie as well so did they want a basketball player to play his role too? I have no idea. I don't know. Maybe. Who knows?
Starting point is 01:22:08 But it was also Gina Prince-Bathwood's first movie that she directed. So I'm sure there was a lot of added stress because of that. And it was like her baby film. Classic, goddammit. Drop on the clues bombs for Love and Basketball. All right? Tonight Latham is actually in two of my favorite movies of all time. Love and Basketball is one.
Starting point is 01:22:24 Brown Sugar is the other. Brown Sugar is the greatest rom-com ever. Don't debate me on these type of things, okay? Because I'm not here to argue with you. All right, now, according to the New York Post, they are saying that DJ Khaled is upset. And he's upset because his album, Father of Assad, was not the number one album.
Starting point is 01:22:39 It was number two. And according to the New York Post, he went up to the label and went off on them. Why are you mad at the label? You can't be mad at the label when a situation like that happens. You came out the same week as Tyler, the Creator. Tyler, the Creator has a more organic connection
Starting point is 01:22:55 with people and Tyler, the Creator sold more records. It's just that simple. Maybe the label didn't do something that they were supposed to do. No, the label did everything they were supposed to do. Khaled had the machine behind him, but that's what I keep trying to tell y'all. The machine doesn't really matter nowadays
Starting point is 01:23:07 if you have a real organic connection with the people. So you can have as many labels behind you as you want. You can have as many videos as you want. You can get all the radio rotation in the world. That's not going to drive people to your music if they don't want it. He still did very well, let's be clear. He did good.
Starting point is 01:23:22 He did great. And then the people didn't want his music. But he also, according to this report, he was upset that the label didn't fight for him because he had done this bundle deal, and those albums that were sold in that bundle deal, the downloads did not count. It was a bundle deal with an energy drink,
Starting point is 01:23:37 and those weren't included in his sales by Billboard. What did Tyler, the creator, do to sell all them records? Organic. He was number one that week. Just being organic. Exactly. And by the way, they're both on Sony. So they had the number one and two albums.
Starting point is 01:23:48 I thought Cal was on Def Jam. No, he's on Epic. And Sony owns Epic. All right, Chris Brown and Drake are going to be putting out a song together. It's what it looks like. All right, Chris Brown posted a picture of himself with Drake and says, summertime about to get a lot hotter. So that's what people are speculating.
Starting point is 01:24:05 Looks like they have something new coming out. All right. And then it was tweeted out that Chris and Drake's song is a song of the summer. Day parties, pool parties, and roller skating rink vibes. That's according to songwriter Nyjah Charles. I also want to say Khaled has no reason to be mad at his label. No, seriously.
Starting point is 01:24:20 Khaled gets hella promotion, bro. He does. Who gets more promotion than Khaled when Khaled comes out? Khaled gets all the radio play in the world, videos. Tyga might be a second choice. He's on... Tyga? I'm just messing with you.
Starting point is 01:24:33 Tyga? Tyga? He's on... Like, Khaled is on everything when his album comes out. He's bigger than the Khaled. Like, so, no. All right, well, I'm Angela Yee, and that's your rumor report. You just didn't sell as much as Tyler, because Tyler...
Starting point is 01:24:44 I just think Tyler has a more organic connection with people, and he's got a real cult-like following. We like Khaled. I don't know if people rush out to buy Khaled's album. His album, maybe singles. Singles, not the album. Now, Revolt, you're not here tomorrow, right? Well, we're not here tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:24:59 We'll be in San Antonio. Revolt's not here tomorrow. But everybody else, Revolt will be back Monday. You guys will be back Monday? Okay. All right, well, the People's Choice Mix is up next. Revolt, weote will be back Monday. You guys will be back Monday? Okay. All right. Well, the People's Choice Mix is up next. ReVote will see you on Monday.
Starting point is 01:25:08 It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Hey, I'm really tripping off this DJ Khaled story. I just played a report from the New York Post, page six, so we don't know. We don't know if it's true or not. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:23 Well, explain it again. Allegedly, they said that he was upset that his album was number two and not number one. He didn't like that. We the second best. We the second best. You stupid. I'm going to be honest with you.
Starting point is 01:25:33 Now that I think about it, I don't believe that story about Khaled. The reason I don't believe that is because Khaled seems like the type of person that... Positive vibes only. Yes, gratitude is always his attitude. Right. But if that is true,
Starting point is 01:25:42 I'm very disappointed in Khaled. Only because Khaled gets a lot of promotion, bro. But it's not true, I'm very disappointed in Khaled. Only because Khaled gets a lot of promotion, bro. But it's not even Khaled's fault. It's just the fact that the machine is dead. There's no such thing as the machine no more. Like, you can have the machine behind you, and it can push your album, and it can push your record,
Starting point is 01:25:58 but if it don't have an organic connection with the people, it's not gonna go. Simple as that. Tyler, the creator, sold more records than Khaled that week, because Tyler has a cult-like following and he has an organic connection with people and I see people saying,
Starting point is 01:26:08 yo, the album is dope, the album is dope, the album is dope. I don't matter how many features you got, how much radio spins you got, if you don't have that organic connection
Starting point is 01:26:15 with the people, they're not going to gravitate towards it. Simple. And can't no machine make them. Gosh, you're really upset about this whole Khaled thing.
Starting point is 01:26:22 I'm just saying. It's just like weird. Well, congratulations, Cali, on a great album in the number two spot for the first week. Still did great. Alright, when we come back, we got your positive note. Don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy
Starting point is 01:26:35 Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, Charlamagne, you got a positive note for the people, bro? Well, yo, first of all, I want to tell everybody, man, if you in New York today, I will be at Macy's. You shopping? No, I'll be there at 5.30 p.m. I'm having a discussion and a meet and greet about, you know, mental health.
Starting point is 01:26:56 And my book, Shook One Anxiety, playing tricks on me, and it's hosted by Gia Peppers. So today at 5.30 p.m., I will be at Macy's Herald Square in the men's department on the third floor. So pull up and have a discussion with me in Macy's, okay? If anything, go to meet Gia Peppers too. Gia's an amazing person. I rock with Gia. Now the positive note is simply this.
Starting point is 01:27:18 The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking. That is Albert Einstein. Breakfast club, bitches! Y'all finished or y'all done? Had enough of this country? Ever dreamt about starting your own?
