In early 1988, federal agents raced to track down the gang they suspect of importing millions of dollars worth of heroin, into New York from Asia.
Starting point is 00:01:31 I had 30 agents ready to go with shotguns and rifles and you never. Five, six white people. Pushed me in the car. Basically, your stay-at-home moms were picking up these large amounts of heroin. All you got to do is receive the package. Don't have to open it, just accept it. She was very upset, crying. Once I saw the gun, I tried to take his hand, and I saw the flash of light.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Listen to the Chinatown Sting on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere. you get your podcasts. I'm I Belongoria. And I'm Maite Gomes Gron. And this week on our podcast, Hungry for History, we talk oysters, plus the Mianbi Chief stops by.
Starting point is 00:02:10 If you're not an oyster lover, don't even talk to me. Ancient Athenians used to scratch names onto oyster shells to vote politicians into exile. So our word ostracize is related to the word oyster.
Starting point is 00:02:24 No way. Bring back the OsterCon. Listen to Hung for Hung. history on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm the homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everybody. You know if you're going to lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot. Hey, y'all, what's up?
Starting point is 00:02:43 It's Lauren LaRosa, and this is the latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things, pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Now, Ms. Jennifer Lopez has been on a. press tour of sorts. J-Lo has been running around presenting her, or presenting, has been running around having conversations about a new movie that she is starring in, a kiss of a spider woman. And during these press tours, you know, there's a lot of conversations that are being had about her dating, her marriages, and all the things. You know, she recently, real recently was, it has been divorced
Starting point is 00:03:24 from Ben Affleck. They got divorced back in February. And this was their second time. trying to do this whole thing. This was Benefer 2.0. This was supposed to be the one. This was supposed to be, okay, she finally got it together. They doing the things. It was so beautiful. The love story rekindled and done, done, done.
Starting point is 00:03:41 It did not work. So as she's on this tour, of course, these conversations are coming up. Now, she sat down with Howard Stern, and Howard Stern began talking to her about dating in her dating life. And Howard Stern asks J-Lo, you know, how are you? even doing this at this point? Because you're jailed. Like, what does love look like for you? And how do you even, you know, y'all know that conversation because you're super famous. Like, how are you dating? What is that vibe like? Let's take a listen.
Starting point is 00:04:10 As soon as you hook up with a guy. Yeah. I don't know how a relationship could survive. It's difficult to be under that, you know, microscope. Yeah. Does it seem like everything is doomed from the beginning? You know what I mean? No. No, I don't, I don't feel that. I feel that I live my life very out loud, even though I was in the public eye and I wanted to share my life with someone I want someone to be there when I'm having my big important moments
Starting point is 00:04:35 on the red carpet I want someone to be there when I'm doing whatever or when I'm going to the store whatever it is like I wanted to share that and so I didn't hide from it and I spoke about it and I think now after what's happened in the past few years to me
Starting point is 00:04:50 and to my children I just feel like I want to keep that part so much more quiet in my life. And it's hard because these are big moments in your life. You want to share them with everybody, right? And you think that's okay. But the truth is, when you're in this type of career and you have the type of level of fame that we're talking about, there is a compromise. There are adjustments that you do need to make because it is a very blessed life. But then, and this is what got one of J-Lo's exes, pretty, pretty upset. Her first husband, O'Johnny Noahe, I'm probably saying
Starting point is 00:05:25 his last name wrong. I say names wrong a lot. She was married to him in 97. They divorced in 98. They were only together for about 11 months. And then she started dating Diddy. So that ex-husband was pissed about these comments. She says she's never been truly loved. Let's take a listen. Do you think you've truly been loved? No. No. And do you think you really have experienced loving someone? Yes. You have? Yeah. And when you can't get that love back, What I learned, it's not that I'm not lovable, is that they're not capable. They can't love. They don't have it in them.
Starting point is 00:06:00 They need to appreciate the little person inside of them. They have little to give. You've been in relationship. And they gave me what they had. Right, but it's not enough. They gave me all of it, every time. But it's this much. All the rings, all the things I could ever want.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Right. Try to give me the houses, the rings, the marriage, all of it. But. They didn't love you. They didn't. And didn't know you. And I didn't love myself. Right. It's tough. This is some journey, right?
Starting point is 00:06:24 It is. And, you know, I was thinking about your music. Most of your songs are about love. They really are. They're all about love. I'm not going to hold you all. When I saw the clip, like the never been truly loved clip, I knew. I'm like, all of the relationships we've watched with JLo and the ex-husbands, somebody is going to come out and be like, girl, what? because to me there isn't a lot of accountability in her answer and we don't know the inside details of the marriages we don't so i mean who's to say that she was the one in the right
Starting point is 00:07:01 and they were in the wrong every single time it just doesn't seem realistic like as a human being as a person who you know relationships they're always 50-50 you got sometimes somebody's right sometimes somebody's wrong, all the things, right? And granted, it is totally her choice to say, I feel like I was not loved correctly. And I'm saying on that. And that is why I am choosing to, you know, do me and focus on me and love me right now. I totally love that for her.
Starting point is 00:07:31 But it just didn't seem realistic. I don't think that there is ever, in my opinion, I've never heard someone talk about a divorce or a marriage in general where one thing didn't, Like, not one thing didn't cause the other, but where, you know, there just wasn't things on both sides. Like, when you're with somebody, I mean, in 11 months, it's not a long time, you know, but it's still some time. But there has been multiple different marriages following O'Johnny. You know, she was married to Chris Judd in 2001, Mark Anthony in 2004, Ben Affleck in 2022, and then dating and stuff in between that. I thought that there would be a little bit more, and I think a lot of us were waiting to see, you know, where does she come into play in this at all?
Starting point is 00:08:11 people have always wondered like what's the issue and is it jlo people always wondered that but he came out and he had a lot to say so in response to that ojani says stop putting us down stop putting me down with your victim card the problem it's not us not me the problem it's you you're the only one who couldn't keep it in your pants you have been loved and he put loved in quotation marks a few times. You've been married four times and have had countless relationships in between. You have had good relationships. Dot, dot, dot, dot. Me, for example, I was in love with you. I was even moving out of state, leaving my job. So when they were dating, they were in different places. So he was in one state. He was a waiter at the time that him and J-Lo met. J-Lo
Starting point is 00:08:58 was like on her way up and figuring it out. But the start, it wasn't like J-Lo. I mean, she was J-Lo, but she was still on her way up. So she had just got cast. that's Selena. And then you guys know around the time of Salinas when she started working on her first album, you know, she got the big record deal and all the things. So they were kind of in the beginning stages of their career. His dream was to open up a restaurant. She was doing the entertainment thing and they were going to do it together. So they were in various states at the time. So he's saying, I was going to move out of state, leave my job, my family, my friends behind and support you, to love you, protect you, and to care for you. I'm an amazing loving
Starting point is 00:09:34 person, a great human being. Honest, faithful to you. I'd never lie, never miss. behaved, never cheated, and he put cheated in all caps on you, I was too good for you. I'm too good of a man for you. And I will say around the time of their separation, and even years after, O'Jonni has always spoke out. And when he spoke out, he's always said, I might be saying his wrong name. I believe it's Ohani, not O'jani. Yeah, it's Ohani. Dang. I'm saying O'jani. It's oh honey. But even around that time, he was always saying that. You know, when he alleges that when J-Lo got the big record deal and Diddy was brought in to produce some of her songs, that's when everything kind of splits.
Starting point is 00:10:17 So it sounds to me, and I think he's actually said this before, that Diddy was the reason for them. Because at that point now she becomes J-Lo and the fame hits and all the things, and she decides to move on. And I've also seen reports, too, that there were some, like, you know, paperwork sent to him so that he could stop talking about their relationship and in the past with them and all the things. But he's talking now.
Starting point is 00:10:42 That was supposed to be his Instagram story. And of course, you know, the people picked it up. Could not wait. All I know is what I've been told, and that to have truth is a whole lie. For almost a decade, the murder of an 18-year-old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved, until a local homemaker, a journalist, and a handful of girls,
Starting point is 00:11:13 came forward with a story. I'm telling you, we know Quincy Kilder, we know. A story that law enforcement used to convict six people, and that got the citizen investigator on national TV. Through sheer persistence and nerve, this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran. My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, producer,
Starting point is 00:11:39 and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find. I did not know her and I did not kill her, or rape or burn or any of that other stuff that y'all said. They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I poured gas on her. From Lava for Good, this is Graves County, a show about just how far our legal. system will go in order to find someone to blame.

Jason versus Freddie. Michael Myers versus the 80 thing with the little tongue muster. October, we're doing it Halloween style. In early 1988, federal agents raced to track down the gang they suspect of importing millions of dollars worth of heroin into New York from Asia.
Starting point is 00:13:51 We had 30 agents ready to go with shotguns and rifles and you name it. But what they find is not what they expected. Basically, you're staying home. moms were picking up these large amounts of heroin. They go, is this your daughter? I said yes. They go, oh, you may not see her for like 25 years. Caught between a federal investigation and the violent gang who recruited them, the women must decide who they're willing to protect and who they dare to betray.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Once I saw the gun, I tried to take his hand and I saw the flash of light. Listen to the Chinatown Stang on the eye heart. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere you get your podcasts. I'm Ibel Ongoria, and I'm Mytego-Messer-Huan. And on our podcast, Hungry for History, we mix two of our favorite things, food and history. Ancient Athenians used to scratch names onto oyster shells, and they called these OsterCon, to vote politicians into exile. So our word ostracize is related to the word oyster. No way.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Bring back the OsterCon. And because we've got a very My Casa is Su Casa kind of vibe on our show, friends always stop by. Pretty much every entry into this side of the planet was through the Gulf of Mexico. No, the America. The Gulf of Mexico,
Starting point is 00:15:21 continue to be it forever and ever. It blows me away how progressive Mexico was in this moment. They had land reform, they had labor rights. that education rights. Mustard seeds were so valuable to the ancient Egyptians that they used to place them in their tombs for the afterlife.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Listen to Hungry for History as part of the My Cultura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Now, in other relationship news, NLE CHAPA, so y'all remember, we talked about NLE Chapa
Starting point is 00:15:58 and he did the sit down on Kirk Franklin's dinner. of Kings. He was with Ray J., Kev on stage, Dr. Jay, who does the Just Hill podcast on the Black Effect Network with Dr. Jay. And they were having conversations about so many things, relationships, self-harm, suicide, just being black men, being vulnerable, you know, being happy, not being happy, grief, death. And in L.A. Chapa really got mixed reviews about his role in the conversation. And when I reported this on the Breakfast Club, I said that I believe NLE Choppah meant well. And his input was valued. You know, I think the point of the discussions
Starting point is 00:16:40 that Kirk Franklin has is that he brings people from all different places, all different walks of life, different ages, different experiences. And it's like, come as you are. And they get together. They eat good. They talk good. And it's a great interaction to see. You got Ray J. in the room so you know there's some comedic relief, not even on purpose. But it was a good interaction. It was a good conversation. But N.L.E. Choppa got pushed back, even, you know, from Ray J. in the actual dinner, because a lot of people felt like N.L.A. Chapa just wasn't listening. And, you know, he was only there to rebut what was being said and not actually take in, and, you know, all of that stuff. But there were some pretty, you know, crazy moments. Not crazy,
Starting point is 00:17:25 But there were some moments between N.L.E. Chapa and Jonathan Majors, one of the ones that picked up the biggest was when N.L.E. Chapa began to talk about reading the Bible and, you know, just everybody being able to walk the same and, you know, how people look at God versus you, listen. Let's take a listen to Nali Chapa. And Christianity, it's a thing where people praise the son more than they praise the Father. and that's what I don't like because if we are man made in a likeness Jesus is our brother you get what I'm saying why would I drop down
Starting point is 00:18:08 and praise my brother instead of praising my father and that goes back to honor on your parents I just got to say something good Have you read the Bible? I read the Bible, I read the Bible, I listen to the Bible, I received from sorts straight. I would say, read it again. Let me ask you a question, right, okay?
Starting point is 00:18:33 That go read the Bible again went crazy online, okay? And I just think that, I mean, listen, I watched the full interview when it came out. We broke it down here on the latest with Lauren the Rose of the podcast. If you guys have not listened to the episode, please go take a listen. It'll give you some more context into the full conversation. I didn't feel like there was tension between Jonathan Majors and N.E. Chapa. I felt like a few people in the room were getting to the point where they were running out of patience for N.L.E. Chapa and just how he was responding and, you know, those things. But I didn't feel like there was tension.
Starting point is 00:19:08 But NL.E. Chapa said to TMZ, they called him out at the airport over the weekend. And he says, he believes there was sentient because he shot his shot at Megan. Good, who was now married to Jonathan Majors. Let's take a listen to NLEC Chappo on the alleged beef with him and Jonathan Majors. I feel like it's not an issue with Majors. I never had one. I do feel like it was tension going into the interview on his behalf because I've publicly said things compliment and Megan Good about how he looks and stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Oh, that's what it was about you said. So like during the interview, it was like certain moments to where like I just felt like he kept trying to use the Megan thing. to like, you know, how people are, as kids, people wave stuff in your face like, hey, I got this, you ain't got that. But it wasn't even that, but it was like, you know, I respect whatever, you know, union you all have. But it was like he kept during an interview with his moments where it just felt forced and it felt unnatural with how he was bringing her into the equation.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Yeah, so let's take a listen to the, you know, NLEC chopper shooting his shot. Now, can I preface this was saying, Megan Good was single at the time? She wasn't with Jonathan Majors that we knew of. She was recently, you know, divorced from Devon Franklin, who, you know, she had a very public relationship with. A lot of people were shooting their shot, even if just on social media, because it's Megan Good. She's gorgeous. Let's take a listen to N.A. Chapa, though. He was sitting down with Jason Lee.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Shout out to Jason Lee. Hey, Jason Lee. And Jason Lee actually called Megan Good for N. Because he had been shooting his shot so much. This next one, she's recently single. Megan good. My, we're waiting on her. Yes, man.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Like, listen. Let me call Megan. Hey, you got Megan over? Come on, Jason Lee. Come on. Oh, she got an answer. I could be a preacher out of there. What else you want me to be?
Starting point is 00:21:04 Megan. Hey, who's this? This is Jason Lee. This is my other phone. I'm literally sitting here filming my show right now. I'm filming right now with a rapper who just, just said you're playing a game called Smash or Pass. I put it Megan Good and he almost fell out his chair.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Everybody else has been getting passes. What? Say hello to NLE Chauper. He hasn't given me this much energy, the whole interview, but now I see every tooth in his mouth. Hi. Hey, how you doing, Megan? I'm good. How are you doing?
Starting point is 00:21:37 I'm extremely blessed. I was just telling, she hug up. Let me see. A phone, dad Now the phone got disconnected You know And of course that was That went viral as well
Starting point is 00:21:50 But NLEE Chapa says That Megan Good called back And Meggin Good actually talked about calling back as well But I don't think she was interested She said, you know NLie Chapa was a baby He was a little young for her
Starting point is 00:21:59 I don't think she was really interested I think she was just being polite Now let's also preface this We're seeing The whole NLEE shooting A shot and Megan Good phone call thing That was back in March of 2023 It's October 2025
Starting point is 00:22:12 I don't think Jonathan Majors would still be upset. But let's take a listen to back and good because back, you know, in 2023, she did address the phone call and the phone called, you know, dropping or her hanging up and her calling back. And I don't think she was interested. I mean, so he kind of shot his shot. So what happened in that conversation? Oh, I'm just, I'm very old.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Who shot me? I'm just kidding. Oh, okay. He's a little too young. He's too young for me, yeah. Oh, okay. But, I mean, it was still, still flattered, you know? No, always. Definitely flattering.
Starting point is 00:22:44 So y'all let me know what y'all think. Is it real beef in these streets with Jonathan Majors and N.E. Chapa? I never thought I'd be putting those two names together and asking, is there beef? You know, take it to the streets and the tweets. Let me know what y'all think. We're outside. We outside. We outside. Every other page I go. I really think that N.E. Chapa misread the energy from Jonathan Majors.
Starting point is 00:23:10 I don't think that it was intentional from Jonathan Majors, but we have not heard from him on this. But I watched the full interview, and there were points where I think everybody was kind of, you know, growing a bit impatient with Nellie. Even Kirk Franklin, there was a moment where Kirk Franklin had to ask Nellie chopping himself like, hey, you know, and Ellie, hold on for a second.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And it wasn't an impatient where it was like in disgust. It was brotherly. It was out of love. It was, we love you. We want you to hear us. Y'all let me know what y'all think, okay? I'm Lauren LaRosa everywhere. I want to hear from you guys.
Starting point is 00:23:42 At the end of the day, there's always a lot to talk about. And y'all, I love it and I appreciate it. Every single time you guys are here with me to talk about it. I'm Lauren La Rosa. This is the latest with Lauren LaRosa, and I will catch you guys in my next episode. The murder of an 18-year-old girl in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved for years.
