10, 10 shots fired in City Hall building.
How could this have happened in City Hall?
Somebody tell me that.
A shocking public murder.
This is one of the most dramatic events that really ever happened in New York City politics.
I scream, get down, get down.
Those are shots.
A tragedy that's now forgotten.
End of mystery.
That may or may not have been political.
That may have been about sex.

In 2023, Bachelor star Clayton Eckerd was accused of fathering twins.
But the pregnancy appeared to be a hoax.
You doctored this particular test twice in so much, correct?
I doctored the test ones.
It took an army of internet detectives to uncover a disturbing pattern.
Two more men who'd been through the same thing.
Greg Gillespie and Michael Marantini.
My mind was blown.
I'm Stephanie Young.
This is love trapped.
Laura, Scottsdale Police.
As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences.
Listen to Love Trapped podcast on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm a homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everybody.
You hear that excuse?
You don't feel a lie about that, right?
Lauren came in hot.
Hey, y'all, what's up?
It's Lauren Rosa.
And this is the latest with Lauren Rosa.
This is your daily digital, all things, pop culture, and entertainment news, and all.
all of the conversations that shake the room, baby.
Now, I've been all day long just watching this Jay-Z interview that dropped with GQ.
So, Jay-Z did a sit-down, exclusive interview with GQ.
The written article dropped, and then a 35-minute-long video interview dropped with GQ.
Now, y'all know, first of all, Jay-Z is not one to just, like, sit down and do any interviews, like, at all, period.
but he's back outside right now.
This interview was actually filmed in January.
He sat down with a Frazier,
Frazier start in L.A. for two candid conversations.
And these are like some of the first in-depth interviews he's done in years.
And in the written part of the interview,
it said that the two conversations he had were two hours long.
So these were very long interviews,
and they combined them and busted down to a little bit over 35 minutes.
Now, I was watching this interview.
I watched it twice so far.
And I do plan on watching it again because I just feel like there's so much that you can take from it and just like so many different ways to analyze the conversation.
I feel like the way that they're talking through a lot of his like lyrics and his music as they're having a conversation, I want to, my last time, not my last time, but then I told myself the next time I go back in and listen to this.
I want to go back in and actually like listen to it, play the song, go back, listen to it again.
like really like it's almost like listening to a new album watching this interview right um but okay
so let's first let's check in behind the scenes of the ground back on the ground but y'all can't
tell I am really excited like I am super excited um and I think it's because in the last what like
two episodes of the podcast so if you were listening to this episode and you did not listen
to last two episodes of the podcast please go back and listen
you guys will hear me, you know, as I check in behind the scenes of the grind, having a
conversation with myself, a very honest one, just about, you know, legacy and longevity and
staying power and more than just like, you know, career and achieving and all of that, like,
more than just like all of that, um, real life like impact.
And I think my biggest thing is, you know, as I'm navigating and, you know, as I'm navigating and
this new space and in this new room and, you know, I'm new over here in the podcast space
that we're building the latest with Lauren the Rosa podcast community and the lowriders.
One of the things that I'm always trying to figure out is why.
Like, what is my, not figure out, but I'm always trying to make sure that I'm delivering
on my why.
And why am I doing something?
So, like, you know, I talk about purpose.
and understanding my purpose and really getting closer to God
or leave that's like two years
and that becoming so clear to me.
Purpose becoming clear to me.
Alignment.
And alignment changes for me, you know,
alignment changes depending on, you know,
I felt like there's like one general like, okay, boom,
you're in alignment in life and spirituality and love.
And, you know, but I think that there are different things
that in different variables that come into your life that move the alignment or try to flow
along with the alignment and when it feels good they are aligned.
So not that alignment changes, but the things that align with you as you are in your
alignment, moving in your purpose, some things hit and some things just don't.
And I think that all of that is important and I'm always trying to figure out if what I'm
doing every day and what I'm spending my time on is getting you to a place where
like the audience, the listener, the person impacted is also feeling that way and also moving closer
to what they believe their purpose and their mission and their alignment is because of, you know,
the vessel of storytelling that I think it's like such a, I think it's such a gift of God to be able
to storytell to move people with words.
And because of all of this and because I'm, you know, able to, you know, talk about these
interviews and learn from these people. I don't know Jay Zee, but watching this interview, I'm learning
from him. I'm like, okay, why is that exciting me and why is that something I want to share
with my audience? And I always want to make sure I'm continuing to ask why, if that makes sense
to you guys. I hope so. You can't tell I am really like in such as this face. Just after
watching this interview a couple times, I feel like this interview confirmed for me that, you know,
I might not have it all together, but I'm on the right track. And I hope it does it for you as well.
This is a checking in behind the scenes of the grind as we open the episode,
but it's kind of like a, it's like a, it's like a, not a check-in.
It's like, let me check you real quick.
Like, let me make sure your mind is right,
because we're going to really get into some things.
This is definitely a conversation that shook the room.
So let's get on into the later.

It must have been.
Our new podcast series,
The Secret World of Roll Doll,
is a wild journey through the hidden chapters
of his extraordinary, controversial life.
His job was literally to seduce the wives
of powerful Americans.
What?
And he was really good at it.
You probably won't believe it either.
Okay, I don't think that's true.
I'm telling you.
I was a spy.
Did you know Doll got cozy with the Roosevelt's?
Played poker with Harry Truman
and had a long affair with a congresswoman.
And then he took his talents to Hollywood,
where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock,

How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever?
And what darkness from his covert past
seeped into the stories we read as kids.
The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote.

flagrant and funny.
You look at the top four
number one seeds.
What do you think UCLA is going to do?
down that for me, my friend. I do think UCLA has a really good chance of getting back to the
final four. Obviously, Yukon is the overwhelming favorite in this tournament, but I'll be
honest, I think people are kind of sleeping on Texas. Experts are suggesting that UCLA is the
number one challenger to Yukon and that right after that would be Texas. S&C is so deep and so
thinking just about everything. It really is annoying. So it's UCLA, Texas, South Carolina,
not LSU.
Only ones that could possibly upset
Yukon.

We fed down with GQ,
35 minute interview,
and they touched on so many different things.
in this interview.
There was so much that I learned.
So in the opening of it, right out of the gate, Jay-Z gets into what his 20-25 was like.
And if you're not familiar, 2025 was like the attack on the black billionaire, okay?
Jay-Z being one of, Jay-Z was accused of sexual assault in 2024 in a civil lawsuit,
and it was dismissed in February of 2025.
The lawsuit also named Diddy in the lawsuit.
and then allege that the two of them, after like a video music awards,
MTV Video Music Awards, like at an afterparty that they raped allegedly,
it alleged that they raped the 13-year-old girl in 2000.
Now, from the rip, Jay-Z was fighting back and denied all of this, right?
And he talks in this interview just about, like, what 2025, like, you know,
that whole combination of that year and, you know,
what it was like, let's take a listen.
It was hard.
Really hard.
I was like heartbroken.
Really?
Yeah.
I'm glad we got right to that.
You know, so we could just get that out the way.
Okay.
Like, I was really heartbroken by like everything that occurred.
Mm-hmm.
You know, with all like, you know, we're in the space now where it's just like almost like consequence is not thought about enough.
So everything is so incident.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
And like that whole Busby, this lawsuit that was dropped, dismissed.
That shit took a lot out of it.
I was angry.
I haven't been that angry in a long time.
Uncontrollable anger.
Like, you don't put that on someone.
Like, that's the thing that you better be super sure.
It used to be like that.
Like, you'd have to be super sure before you put those kind of things on a person.
Let's see a person like me.
Like, even when we were doing the worst things, we were doing bad.
And from this, I learned that, number one, the human and the best of us never dies, right?
Because I don't know.
For some reason, it's like you look at Jay Z, you look at Beyonce, and they're able to,
and I say not get on line and respond, even though I, you know, before we played this clip,
told you guys that Jay Z responded to this, you know.
He came out of wherever, you know, the Jay Z and Beyonce reigns supreme, where they ignore everything.
and made a very clear statement that he was not going to let this just happen to him,
and he was going to fight back, and that Tony Busby, who was the attorney that was representing this girl,
had basically, she was messing with the wrong one, and he was going to make an example out of him
because these were lies that were damaging not only him, his brand, his business, but also his family.
And it's like, you think, I always, I have the saying a lot of times I ask myself like,
with Beyonce do. And the reason
I bring in what Beyonce do when talking about
Jay-Z is because they are, like,
they do a lot of the same things where
they see everything, they know everything, but they don't
respond. They don't be a part of a lot of the drama
and the BS and all of that stuff, right?
And
the reason why I wrote down,
the human and the best of us never dies when I was
listening to this part of the interview, because
I'm like, no matter how much you don't
respond, no matter, you know,
how put up and out the way you are, no matter how
successful you are no matter your human nature to just be hurt like hearing j-z i mean first of all i
just feel like hearing you know a man admit you i was hurt is that's instantly you want to stop
you in your tracks because men don't know them to do that men don't love to admit when they're feelings
got a question not black man but to hear him say that like i was so hurt and then he goes on and he
talks about, you know, all of the things that he went through and how he, you know, he, he,
even throughout the fight, it was still like a, it was, it was so heavy and it was weighing on him.
And I think a lot of times, too, when you're looking at these celebrities, I know for myself,
had the person who reports on people's lives and talk about people's lives, every now and then I got
check myself, like how I checked you on the beginning of this episode, like, all right, where you're
mind at, you're ready for this type of conversation?
Because, you know, where I'm at and the energy, I'm vibrating on week,
We're about to really get into some things.
Sometimes I have to check myself and be like, yo, to you is just a story.
To you is just a, you know, breaking news, an exclusive, a headline, a video reaction, you know, a segment on the breakfast club, a, you know, talking point on the latest along the rose of the podcast.
But to these, this is someone's real life.
And to have that power in your hand to, you know, be such a weight in someone's life.
You got to, I mentioned the whole asking myself, why, right?
You got to ask yourself, why?
Like, what is the greater good and all of this?
And even if there is no greater good, why?
Why do you care to censor this?
And, you know, it's so crazy.
A lot of times, like, shall I'm going to be yelling at me about this all the time?
Like, you know, the stories I choose and how I choose to talk about things.
And for the most part, like, you know, I'm able to push back and say, but it's my job.
I have to talk about A to get to B and to C.
But when I'm listening to Jay Z talk and I'm feeling the emotion and the hurt on him,
I'm thinking about all the headlines and all the news and all the media
and everything that just piled on and piled on and piled on.
But he's dealing with this in real life.
Like his daughter, he had to sit blue ivy down and explain these things to her.
He had to talk to. He talks about it.
In the interview, he had to talk to his wife about the fact that he wasn't just going to settle this out.
He was going to fight it.
We should have dragged it along and did drag along for some time until, you know, he prevailed, but still.
And, you know, he had people that still by him, but he talks about community.
The newest tracks.

Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Presented by Capital One, founding partner
of IHart Women's Sports. And then, I mean, I think, you know, one of the biggest, you know,
takeaways from this interview is like, I think the people always talk about like being real
and what real is and real niggott is and, you know, like all of that, right? And I think
what I've been able to experience in my life just because of how I was brought up and in and in how I was raised not even just because of my environment right like people talk about Delaware and it being so small whatever I'm from Wilmington Delaware and Womington Delaware it is very like I mean it's like any inner city you know what I mean you have your violence you have your poverty you have you know your middle class you have the people that are doing well you had you know the positivity of like you know the boys and girls clubs the skating rings like but it's
It's community for real.
We go through our things, but we go through it together.
But one of the things that growing up in that environment,
but also just in my house before I even ever walk outside,
one of the things that I was always instilled in me was reality
and being a realist.
And I think a lot of people that people look at as like real
or people that claim they're so real or real about things or, you know,
I'm just that vulgar because I'm honest and I'm real.
They're not realist.
Like a lot of people are doing those things
because they want the shop value that comes with, you know,
the saying the thing that nobody wants to say.
Or they want the, they want the recognition in the room.
Like they want to be the loudest person in the room without having to actually be the loudest person.
So they do loud things, right?
And I'm listening to Jay-Z talk about just being a realist and just dealing with the world for what it is.
Like, yo, it's certain things we can't change.
in the whole capitalist conversation of like,
I'm not running from the fact that I make money and I do well.
Why should I?
This is how the world is.
It's meant for you to get out here, get your bread, get out the way.
Let's take a listen.
Yeah, so I wanted you to talk a little bit about this idea of like,
like you said earlier, like the things that you do for the culture,
the ways that you put on, the ways that you try to protect and move forward,
but kind of the pushback that you get sometimes about like people throw capitalists at you
in a derogatory sense.
Yeah, I think in that verse specifically,
the only thing I heard coming up
was the American dream until we started
being successful. And it was like,
wait a minute, you're selling out because you make it money.
That was the first thing that was put on
musicians. People had this
a law for the struggling artists. That's a mind
game. What we were called back in the day
for Tritonology, it was like,
no, I'm not going for that.
Like, no, I make art
first, and then
I make sure that I'm compensated for my art
I didn't take advantage
I didn't get here by taking advantage of people
I didn't take it with no one
you know and I just see the world for what it is
not for what I wanted to be
I'm a realist
not ideal it's not idealistic
people speak about the world
how they want to see it
you're never going to win like that
one of the biggest things
in closing that I took from this interview
Jay Z was talking about the fact that he did not get on the
clips album so the clips
dropped let guy sort him out
and it was teased throughout their whole press run that Jay-Z
like I mean I threw out their whole press run prior to
like before the music came out people thought that Jay-Z was going to be on the album
even when it came to the Breakfast Club they talked about the fact that like the Jay-Z
verse you know didn't happen or like you know whatever that conversation was
so Jay-Z gets into why he decided not to get on the album that's movie
the street really wanted you on that Cliffs album yeah I was close I was close
I think if I if I think the first thing that I say it has to be said from me.
It can't be like a, I don't want to be so rigid with it though.
I'm, I'm going to keep that open.
I'm going to take that back.
But at that moment, at that moment, I was like, yeah, I want to do something.
But in order for me to move forward, I got to get this shit out.
When I heard this, I was like, okay.
So this right here.
So it's like, okay, you got the motivation.
You got the, you got the, like, you know, the gems that you could take away.
But this right here, this is a part of the playbook.
That, that keep, that is what it is, you know, mentality.
Life is what it's going to be, you know, be a realist about things.
That was like, that was the setup.
That was the confirmation of like, there's a certain cloth of people he's talking to.
And everybody else is going to go over their heads, right?
And if it hits you, it hits you.
If it don't, it don't.
But right here, it's like, here's the call to action for me anyway.
So what I wrote down when I heard this part of it,
interview was stop take time digest and I wrote a question to myself how do you do that in
2026 in the lane that you're in knowing where you want to go to and what you want to build
because you're disrupting and no one else is going to have done it before you've gotten there
so it's like figuring all of that out I think that's what I've been going through these last
couple days of like, all right, like everything in 2026 is so popcorn. It's so like,
loud. There's so much noise. Oh, my God. When I first had TMZ, I felt like it was like,
I mean, it's still very clear to me. Like vision and purpose, like that's a godsend thing. That's
that's not faulty. But I feel like the market, like I was able to look out and be like,
all right, you know, this person over here doing that, this person over here doing that. And I felt like,
Like I could see it, but I felt like you guys as the audience could really see it.
Like, who really has truth?
Who really has facts?
Who's just loud?
Who do you rely on?
Who should you rely on?
What is, what does, you know, truth in reporting and these takes and these viral tweets?
And, you know, like, how do we focus out the BS and noise?
Now, I feel like, I don't know how much I believe a regular consumer is different for me because I'm in it and I'm on the side of like reporting.
and I talked about the media and how this interview made me think about the responsibility
of the media and how heavy you can make things for someone, right?
Like, what does that look like in the new era of new media?
Like, what's that middle point of being human, understanding human emotion,
having them yourself, but also having empathy and compassion and not wanting to be a part
of the noise and actually stopping, digesting, but still breaking through and disrupting.
like what is that formula and like how do you figure that out because jZ has figured that out
very well and that is why he's so successful and that is why everything he does because
all comes off so poised because even in his interview you could tell he's still in his feelings he's
still upset he is hurt he is pissed off but he also is happy and excited about some of the things
that he's done the Super Bowl Kendrick lamar all of these things but the emotion is still there
but it's so poised and it's so gathered and it's very like sharp and concise and it does
and it teaches and it sticks with you and i know that that comes with time you know things like
that come with time you know but like i'm always trying to figure out like okay how do i get to
that point that greatness now i'll end on this because a lot of y'all gave jZ shit for
when all the Drake and Kendrick Lamar not like us stuff was happening and y'all made it like j-z picked
the side in the battle and he's addressing that head on he ain't running from it that's the
personal thing that you chose kendrick for the Super Bowl it's like oh man he's choosing the side and he's
putting and he's not like like i don't have what i have to do with that i chose the guy that was having a
monster year i think it was the right choice word it wasn't in in some sort of alliance to a battle
i don't yeah what i care about them two guys battling like it's like i got to do with me or
Have at it.
Have fun.
It's almost like,
not on just me, by the way.
They drag everybody in it.
Like, everyone's part of this conspiracy to undermine Drake, I guess.
But, like, what the fuck?
Like, what?
I'm fucking Jay-Z.
Or do respect them.
I'm fucking old.
Dude, respectfully.
Like, for what?
folk to what end?
Yeah.
It couldn't be like these guys just don't like each other.
Yeah.
And I think they haven't liked each other for a long time.
Y'all ain't going to hear him, though.
The Drake Bots is already out there doing exactly what I just told y'all about all the noise, talking all crazy.
You know what I mean?
I mean, business is strictly financial, but in this, it's numbers.
Like, he can't, like, he has conversations about the artists that are going to come and perform in the Super Bowl.
He's not just picking out of the blue.
the numbers are there
the proof is in the pudding
