The Breakfast Club - Macklemore Interview and More
Episode Date: September 19, 2017Tuesday 9/19 - Today on the show we had Macklemore come by where he spoke about his new album, speaking out on politics and more. Also Charlamagne gave "Donkey of the Day" to Chanel West Coast because... she she tried convincing a producer on the show "Love and Hip Hop" to work with her by stating that she is up there with the biggest rappers when it comes to hip-hop because Charlamagne dissed her on the show "Ridiculousness". Speaking of Hip-Hop and the great MC's, VH1 had the Hip Hop Honors last night, so we opened up the phone lines to hear what our listeners thought of the performances. Had enough of this country?
Ever dreamt about starting your own?
I planted the flag. This is mine. I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete.
Or maybe not.
No country willingly gives up their territory.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.

Hey, y'all. Niminy here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called
Historical Records. Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and John Glickman,
Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone.
Bash, bam, another one gone.
The crack of the bat and another one gone.
The tip of the cap, there's another one gone.
Each episode is about
a different inspiring figure from history.
Like this one about Claudette Colvin,
a 15-year-old girl in Alabama
who refused to give up her seat
on the city bus nine whole
months before Rosa Parks did
the same thing. Check it. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical
Records because in order to make history, you have to make some noise.

Muhammad Ali,
George Foreman, 1974.
George Foreman was
champion of the world. Ali
was smart and he was handsome.
The story behind The Rumble in the Jungle
is like a Hollywood movie.
But that is only half the story.
There's also James Brown, Bill Withers,
B.B. King, Miriam Akiba.
All the biggest black artists on the planet.
Together in Africa.
It was a big deal.

Hi, I'm Dani Shapiro, host of the hit podcast, Family Secrets.
How would you feel if when you met your biological father for the first time, he didn't even say hello?

The world's most dangerous morning show, The Breakfast Club.
Man, what the hell is this, man?
Breakfast Club, bitches.
I'm glad they put y'all together.
Y'all are like a mega force.
Y'all just took over every...
Wake your punk ass up.
This is Chris Brown.
I've officially joined the Breakfast Club.
Say something, mother...
I'm with it.
The world's most dangerous morning show.
Breakfast Club, bitches. Good morning, USA!
Well, this is awkward.
It's Angela Yee.
I'm here.
Oh, okay.
There's DJ Envy.
Good morning.
Good morning.
Charlamagne's not here yet, so I was just talking to myself.
Oh, okay.
Had a long, light night last night.
The Giants.
I wasted my time, time that I can't get back.
I went to the Giants game.
You went to the game.
Yeah, I took my son to the game.
It started off pretty good.
We went to the field.
Odell Beckham was playing.
He's back.
I said, okay, we're going to have a great game.
And then the Giants just stank it up.
Horrible.
Horrible, horrible, horrible game.
It's hard to...
I mean, I'm a New York fan, so I've been through this with the Knicks.
And the Giants just suck this year.
Maybe you should go with the Jets.
I'm not going to say this year, but maybe the first two games they just played horribly.
Not too good.
It's a good start.
Yeah, I mean, I had a great time with my son.
Shout out to my iHeartRadio family.
Shout out to Peggy.
They had us in the iHeartSuite, which was amazing.
Had a great time in the box,
but it was just a
bad game. What up, Charlamagne? Hey, guys.
What's happening? Y'all still watching football?
No, I'm not watching football. Okay, god damn.
When you gonna learn to boycott like me?
I'm boycotting. Jesus Christ. I'm boycotting.
You know, I'm sitting there watching VH1
Hip Hop Honors last night, and then I
accidentally, accidentally,
accidentally, you, accidentally,
you know,
flipped over to the network the football was on.
Yeah,
the channels are right
next to each other.
Nothing was going on
over there.
And I was like,
I hope the Giants fans
are boycotting the NFL
the way that I've learned.
Definitely,
definitely,
definitely,
definitely.
Some people weren't
too happy with the
VH1 Hip Hop Honors either.
Trash.
Trash.
How was that?
I don't see it.
I actually watched it.
I am so disappointed.
Listen,
I am so disappointed
in VH1 because I was thoroughly disappointed to see at the
end when you see like executive producers and they had like Queen Latifah and Sha Kim
and Mona Scott Young, people who actually came up in the 90s era.
They could have put that show together a whole lot better.
It was very poorly.
I was very looking forward to it because the 90s was a great time for music.
It was the best time.
And so I anticipated to see a lot of different people on there,
a lot of different groups, musical acts.
So what did we see?
What was so bad about it?
The problem with the show last night was,
first of all, you can't fit a whole decade in 60 or 70 minutes,
however long it was.
You can't do that.
That's number one.
Number two, I didn't like seeing people share awards together.
Like, if you're going to honor Master P
and you're going to honor Jermaine Dupri,
let them get their time.
They were trying to shove everything in together.
Exactly.
Did you see the Martin tribute?
Martin tribute was trash.
First of all, I'm going to tell you why it was trash.
It wasn't long enough because it's Martin.
That's number one.
He's had such an impact on the culture.
Number two, if you're going to have people come out there and play the characters,
how you got nobody to come out there to play Shanaynay?
Yeah.
How you got nobody?
That should have been the number one character you played.
How nobody played Shanaynay.
You couldn't find no guy that wanted to dress up like a woman?
Now I'll tell you one part that I did like.
Tiana Taylor dancing.
Did you see that part with Tiana Taylor?
I didn't like that part either.
I thought she did a great job.
She did.
I like Tiana.
Who did she represent?
Everybody.
It was like a hodgepodge of different music.
TLC to BBD.
What do you mean?
They meshed all of these different 90s songs together in these segments.
She was dancing to different songs.
But I didn't think that was bad.
It was like a nice little intro, I guess, to the show.
We need a Tiana single now.
We need a single from her now.
Well, this is from the 90s.
But I thought she did a good job as far as dancing.
I liked how she looked.
She did do a good job as far as dancing.
I just felt like the whole show was rushed.
Don't disrespect our culture like that.
Don't disrespect an era
by rushing through it.
If you're going to do it,
do it right.
Mariah Carey came out.
She came out.
The Lox came out
and performed with her.
Who else was out with Mariah?
I think Jermaine Dupri
I seen in the Brat.
Was that part of that too?
Yeah, Brat and Jermaine Dupri.
I think Clue produced that one.
I think Clue was DJing.
Oh yeah, Clue was DJing.
Clue DJed the whole thing.
Yeah, he produced that one.
Yeah, they just rushed
through a whole era
and I thought that was whack.
And I was really,
really looking forward to it.
Wow.
Very poorly executed.
Glad I missed it.
All right, well, let's get the show cracking.
Macklemore will be joining us this morning.
So we're going to kick it with Macklemore.
That's another one I missed.
I'm missing all the white people lately.
Yeah, some type of plot going on here.
Yeah, all right.
And we got front page news.
What are we talking about?
We'll talk about some protesters that were arrested after torching a cop car. Alright,
we'll get into all that when we come back. Keep it locked.
This is The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy
Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are
The Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news.
Now, in Monday...
Go ahead. You was watching football?
You're supposed to do it like this. Monday Night Football!
You was watching football? Well, listen,
we do have to, you know, take into consideration our listeners who aren't boycotting like we are.
Okay.
Well, I'm boycotting.
Detroit beat the Giants.
Now, let's talk about this.
What was the score?
24-10.
24-10.
Listen, when your team loses, just boycott the NFL.
That's what I did yesterday.
My Cowboys lost.
I don't know nothing about no football.
Now, what happens if they win?
You back on?
Of course. All right. Now, let know nothing about no football. Now, what happens if they win? You back on? Of course.
All right.
Now, let's talk about these hurricanes.
Right.
So, now Hurricane Maria has left devastation in Dominica.
According to the prime minister there, they said initial reports are of widespread devastation.
So far, we have lost all of what money can buy and replace.
My greatest fear for the morning is that we will wake to news of serious physical injury
and possible deaths as a result of likely landslides triggered by persistent rains.
So it did hit as a Category 5 storm.
Now it's downgraded to a Category 4, which is still extremely strong.
And it's headed to the U.S. and Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands now in its path.
Well, there's nothing you can do about natural disasters.
There's hurricane warnings now for Guadalupe, Dominica, San Quintin
Nives, Montserrat, the U.S., and British
Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Culebra,
and Vieques. There's nothing you can do
against natural disasters. It don't matter what race you
are, don't matter what your class is, don't matter what your
status is, your gender, sexuality,
nothing. Just gotta pray for everybody. Hurricane Jose
is also in the Atlantic right now, and so
there's tropical storm warnings for parts of the
U.S. East Coast. There was also an
earthquake that struck near Westwood in
L.A., a 3.6 magnitude
earthquake that was felt last night,
particularly on the west side
in the San Bernardo Valley. Remember I told y'all
a couple weeks ago, I said, oh, and the earthquake's
going to start on the west coast soon. Remember I told
y'all that? Yep. And then it
was one in Mexico, and now it's been one
in L.A. It's going down, baby. There's nothing we can do
against natural disasters. Y'all can keep tripping off
stuff like race, keep tripping off stuff like sexuality
and gender and class and
all of that good stuff. Guess what? When them natural
disasters hit, we all gonna be seeking shelter.
Now let's talk about these protests. Together.
Three people who were arrested Monday night. Now,
I'm sure you guys heard about this, but police
shot and killed Scout Schultz
late Saturday night
because he himself called 911 to report an armed and possibly intoxicated suspicious person.
When the cops showed up to that 911 call, they actually ended up shooting and killing him.
They said he had a utility multipurpose tool.
They said the knife blade was not out.
Now, of course, his parents are upset because they are saying that the officer who shot Schultz
overreacted.
He was having a breakdown.
You think?
And he was suicidal.
If the officer
had used non-lethal force
rather than shooting,
then Schultz could have
gotten the treatment
much better.
He actually had
three suicide notes
that they found
afterward.
So he didn't lunge
towards the cop or nothing?
No, they were just telling him
to put the knife down.
He didn't even have
the blade out.
My goodness. They told him repeatedly to put it. And he's the one that called 911, by the way. That was the, they were just telling him to put the knife down. He didn't even have the blade out. My goodness.
They told him repeatedly to put it.
And he's the one that called 911, by the way.
That was the white guy
they just had on revolt?
Yeah, he's a white guy.
Oh, well, welcome to our world.
He was also president
of Pride Alliance at Georgia Tech.
He said in his statement
on the Pride Alliance profile
on bisexual, non-binary, and intersex.
He had a 3.9 GPA,
but unfortunately,
he was having some mental issues.
So according to the lawyer for the family,
they feel like university police officers should have the highest training in dealing with people having mental or emotional breakdowns.
That sounds like an echo chamber of black people.
And issues.
He had actually struggled with depression, attempted suicide two years ago,
using a belt as a noose also.
That's an echo chamber of black people.
We were screaming that for years, okay?
Trying to get police officers
to use less lethal force.
Well, rest in peace.
He shouldn't have been killed.
Especially if his knife wasn't out.
He didn't lunge at the cops.
Sounds like an echo chamber
of black people.
So three people were
after they were having
all these protests on campus
and they actually
torched a cop car.
Wow.
All right.
Well, that's front page news.
Now get it off your chest.
800-585-1051.
If you're upset,
you need to vent. hit us up right now.
Maybe you had a bad night.
Maybe a Giants loss.
Whatever it may be.
If you're upset, call us up right now.
800-585-1051.
Or get it off your chest.
Or tell them why you're blessed.
If you're blessed, you want to spread some positivity,
call us now at The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Pick up the mother, mother phone and dial.
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Whether you're mad or blessed.
Say it with your chest.
We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.
So you better have the same energy.
Hello, who's this?
It's D-Dog.
What's up, man?
D-Dog, get it off your chest, bro.
Hey, man, I just want to, you know, send my condolences out to them Giants because them Lions beat them yesterday.
You know, put the smack down on them yesterday.
You know what I'm saying?
They should be protesting, bro.
I guarantee you'll be boycotting when your Lions lose.
Man, I've been riding with the Lions since they was 0-16.
What you talking about, bro?
There you go.
Now that's loyalty.
But have you been riding with the Giants since Colin Kaepernick took a knee
for police brutality, though?
Man, that situation is different.
Goodbye, man.
Is Colin Kaepernick tweeting during the game?
No, not at all.
Chantel.
Yes?
Get it off your chest, mama.
Okay.
Well, I'm sorry, guys,
but I never feel sorry for a woman
that was cheating with a man,
and then that same man turns around
and cheats on them.
I told you, y'all do not feel bad for Iniko at all.
Not at all.
Like, what you thought?
He wasn't going to do it to you?
Like, I need you to have that same energy like Sullivan said you had when you thought it was okay.
But do we honestly...
But you're going to be cheating with...
But do we know that Kev was cheating with Iniko with his wife?
Yes, he was.
He was still married.
He was still married to her.
What about the virgin separation, though?
I mean, he admitted to it.
It doesn't matter.
With her?
Yeah.
Not with her.
Yeah, it doesn't matter.
Well, Tori Hart's on Inside Edition, so we're going to have that audio this morning.
Yeah, if you read Kev's book, he does admit to constantly cheating on Tori, but not with
Nico, though.
Hello, who's this?
Hi, this is Chandler from Columbus, Ohio.
Hey, Chandler.
Get it off your chest.
Hello, Chandler. What's going on? How are you, Chandler from Columbus, Ohio. Hey, Chandler. Get it off your chest. Hello, Chandler.
What's going on?
How are you, Chandler?
I'm good, good.
I'm blessed because I finally got, after court fees and stuff,
finally got to see my daughter after two years.
Damn, two years?
I'm blessed about that.
How old is she?
Yeah, yeah.
How old is she?
Nine.
Wow.
Yeah, so it's been about two and a half years
when I finally got to see her.
So got to see her a few provides visits, but I finally got to see her. So, got to see her a few times. I finally got to see her.
I'm blessed about that.
And I'm mad,
because y'all didn't give Kevin Hart a donkey of the day.
Like, you don't get married,
you don't get engaged at the high point of your life.
You hoe around for about a year, year and a half.
And then, after you hoe around for that year and a half,
two years, then you get married.
But you don't do it at the high point.
I would expect somebody with a square-ass name like
Chandler to think that, okay?
I'm not giving a man donkey of the
day for cheating, alright? That's against guy
code violation, alright? And then
ten years later, when I get caught out here
with a young tender, I'll be playing my donkey
of the day back, alright?
There you go. About half-diving someone
for cheating, alright? Thank you, bro.
You never know.
Life has a lot of twists and turns.
Everybody got to do better, man.
Get it off your chest.
You never know what could happen.
585-1051.
You're upset.
You need to vent.
Hit us up right now.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Pick up the mother,
mother phone and dial.
This is your time
to get it off your chest.
Whether you're mad or blessed.
Say it with your chest.
We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.
So you better have the same energy.
Antoine.
What's going on?
Get it off your chest, bro.
Yeah, man.
I'm going to just say why I'm blessed.
As a matter of fact, two weeks ago I met a young man.
We needed an extra man on the basketball court.
He's 18 years old.
His name is Trey Sean from Dayton, Ohio.
Angle, that sounds like the beginning of a great porno. We needed a man in the basketball court. He's 18 years old. His name is Trey Sean from Dayton, Ohio. I ain't gonna lie, this sounds like the beginning of a great porno. He needed a man
in the backfield.
What happened, bro? Yeah, we needed
an extra man for the basketball court.
Afterwards, you know,
I always talk to the kids about staying
motivated and educated. And, you
know, I was blessed that two weeks later,
he took every word that I was saying to heart,
came and told me he got accepted into four colleges.
There you go.
The best part about the story is he's an orphan.
He grew up an orphan.
He's homeless right now.
So, you know, I opened up my door to him
and let him stay with me so he could finish high school
and, you know, for the better of his life.
But, listen, I'm going to be honest with you.
I respect you for talking to that young man.
But if he got offered the four colleges a couple weeks later, he had been focused, sir.
It wasn't your conversation that got him focused.
Maybe you helped him a little bit.
Maybe you helped him a little bit.
Two weeks later?
Nothing wrong with doing something positive.
Two weeks later?
That means he's been performing well for the past four years in high school.
Stop it, guys.
Well, maybe that conversation helped him.
Hello, who's this?
This is Anthony.
Hey, Anthony.
You blessed this morning?
Yes, sir, I am. You about who's this? This is Anthony. Hey, Anthony. You blessed this morning? Yes, sir, I am.
You about to get married?
Yes, sir.
Congratulations, bro.
When you get married?
October 21st, man.
Been with her for three years.
I don't want her to put up with my s***.
Have you gotten all that buck out your system?
Yes, sir, I have.
You got that buck out your system?
You got to make sure you got that buck out your system now
because you don't want to find yourself in a situation like our guy Kevin Hart. Oh, I know, man. Well, say your queen's name, man you got that buck out your system now because you don't want to find yourself in a situation like our guy Kevin Hart.
Oh, I know, man.
Say your queen's name, man. Get that buck out your system.
Sabrina, man.
How long have you guys been together before you got engaged?
We've been together a year
before we got engaged. Wow, okay.
Yeah, I moved down here from Georgia
and I met her through work and everything like that.
You knew she was the one? Ma'am?
I said you knew she was the one. He said ma'am.
He said ma'am.
Hey, I'm from Georgia, man.
It's a respect.
I know.
I do the same thing.
Thank you, sir.
Did I apologize?
Get it off your chest.
800-585-1051.
If you're upset, you need to vent.
Ma'am?
Yes?
You got rumors on the way?
Yes, my child.
We'll be talking about joint albums.
We'll tell you what artists are saying.
They have some albums coming out together.
Also, Janet Jackson, is she falling in love with this person again?
Already?
All right, we'll get into that when we come back.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Listen up.
It's just in.
All the gossip.
Gossip.
The Rumor Report.
Gossip. With Angela Yee. It. The Rumor Report. Gossip. Gossip.
With Angela Yee. It's the Rumor Report.
The Breakfast Club.
Well, according to BASIP, Janet Jackson is ready to give Jermaine Dupri another chance.
Wow.
Allegedly, things have been heating back up between the two of them.
They dated formerly, and they have reunited, and it's not just for making music. Now we told you previously that Janet Jackson's brother Randy Jackson says that she was
emotionally and verbally abused by
her husband which is why she left him and she
actually broke down crying on stage
while she was performing so maybe
the two of them will be back together.
Hopefully at this age Jermaine Dupri got that
buck out of his system. Okay.
And he won't be making the same mistakes he made
when he was with her the first time.
He cheated on her the first time, right?
How do you cheat on Janet Jackson?
A lot of things happen.
Sheesh.
All right, now let's discuss these joint projects.
Now, Quavo is saying that he and Travis Scott
are planning to put together some type of thing.
I don't know if it's an album, a mixtape,
but here's what he had to say.
Yeah, it's going to drop real, real soon.
We've been making a whole bunch of records.
We got a lot of records together right now.
We've probably got like 20 records.
We just need to get some time to just sort them out.
All right.
Well, Travis Scott also has a new album about to come out he finished up.
And also in this interview, he talked about the Migos
and how they actually started a whole new genre of music.
We're in a time right now where we're setting the trend.
We started this whole little way.
We started the whole genre. We started the little way. We started the whole genre.
We started the whole flow.
We started the whole melody.
Ain't nobody right now at a point in their career can't say right now they ain't took the outflow.
We never did call nobody out.
We just having fun.
We creating a whole new sound like hip-hop has changed in a big way, you know.
So you can mark this down as we changed.
Quavo not telling no lies.
The Migos absolutely ushered in a new sound, a new way of rhyming, all of that good stuff.
He's not lying.
They're the leader of the new school when it comes to this wave.
Now, over the weekend, Playboy Cardi teased on Snapchat that he's going to be doing a project with Lil Uzi Vert.
So that makes sense.
The two of them just woke up like this recently, big song.
And obviously, they're very affiliated with each other.
So that could be a good one too.
And Childish Gambino, we've been waiting for this,
that Chance the Rapper joint project.
Here's what he had to say on the red carpet at the Emmys.
You know, music, I don't ever want to do anything
because I'm forced to.
I think once you do that, like things start to get bad
and you jump the shark.
Also, I feel like if I don't make a Chance to rap for mixtape, like double mixtape,
a bunch of 14-year-olds are going to kick my ass.
So I feel like I got to do something.
I probably will.
Which one of these are you most looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to all of them.
I'm going to tell you why.
Because none of these people are being constrained by nothing.
Like, there's no labels holding them back.
They're doing what the hell they want to do artistically.
And that's what it's about when you're an artist.
Drop one of Clues Bombs
for every single one of them,
damn it.
And let's not forget
Lil Uzi Vert's doing
that joint rock album
with Marilyn Manson also.
Now, I'm going to tell you something.
I'm probably not going to listen
to the Playboy Cardi
and Lil Uzi Vert.
That's a little too young for me.
I like them.
I'll probably listen to
Quavo and Travis Scott
in the gym.
I'll definitely listen
to Childish Gang
being on Chance to Rap with her.
Now, are you going to listen
to Blac Chyna
when she puts out her album? I've already heard a record to Blac Chyna when she puts out her album?
I've already heard a record from Blac Chyna.
You heard the single already.
But her album, are you interested in that?
No.
What do you think?
Absolutely not.
All right, well, they're saying that she has a whole bunch of deals on the table coming at her.
She's already turned down one deal with a major label,
and there's four different labels right now that are trying to give her a seven-figure advance.
If Cash Me Outside Girl can get a record deal,
why wouldn't Blac Chyna be able to get a record deal?
But I will tell you something.
When we was on the set of Hip Hop Squares, filming that in L.A.,
Joe Budden said to me, Charlamagne, Blac Chyna got a record.
I said, Joe Budden, please leave me alone right now.
I really don't want to talk to you.
Joe Budden said, Charlamagne, I'm telling you,
this is Joe Budden, grouchy, grumpy, Grinch-like ass.
Telling me this.
And he let me hear a record, which I think he wrote. I'm going to, this is Joe Budden, grouchy, grumpy, Grinch-like ass. Telling me this.
And he let me hear a record, which I think he wrote.
I'm going to be honest with you.
First of all, Joe Budden and Youngberg is cool.
Youngberg produced the record, and Joe Budden was very eager to let me hear this record.
And I know all of them was in the studio together.
Yeah, he probably had something to do with it. I'm like, why would Joe be co-signing this Blac Chyna record so hard?
Did it sound very lyrical?
No, but he let me hear the record record and the record actually could go, sadly.
Based off everything that we're hearing now
in this era, the record could probably go.
Alright, and shout out to Lorenz
Tate. He is now a series regular
for season five of Stars.
Drop one of the clue bombs for Lorenz Tate.
He plays councilman Rashad Tate.
Interestingly enough, the same
last name he has in real life was a city councilman from
Jamaica, Queens, and so now he's going to be
on there regularly. So that's great.
I like his character. I like Lorenz Tate
as a person. I admire Lorenz Tate. The reason I admire
Lorenz Tate is because that man is aging very gracefully.
Yeah, he still looks the same. That man is 40 plus years
old. Okay? And he's
aging very well. That's how I
want to look when I'm 40 plus. Alright, so he's
vintage penis. If you
think so. But I just think that
the way he keeps himself
together physically.
All right.
Well, I'm Angela Yee.
All right.
This is getting weird.
I'm Angela Yee
and that's your rumor report.
Especially after watching
VH1 Hip Hop Honors
and watching everybody
was stomach.
Was it that bad?
Everybody had a stomach
on VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
It could have been that bad.
Leave them alone.
Leave everybody alone.
Okay.
My goodness.
All right. When we come back, we got front page news.
We'll tell you about all the hurricanes, the protests, and all that.
We'll tell you also what major retailer is about to go out of business, maybe.
All right.
All that and more.
Keep it locked.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
And don't forget, you want to go to Powerhouse NYC?
We'll pay for your airfare, hotel, and possibly hang with The Breakfast Club. You get't forget, you want to go to Powerhouse NYC? We'll pay for your airfare, hotel,
and possibly hang with
the Breakfast Club.
You get to see The Weeknd.
You get to see Cardi B,
French Montana,
Migos, and a host of others.
We'll keep it locked.
We got your chance
to go to New York City
to Powerhouse NYC
in minutes.
But let's get into
some front page news.
I ain't watch football,
so we ain't talking
football this morning.
Oh, now all of a sudden
you boycotting.
You can't be selfish.
Don't worry about it. The people are there. I want to know the scores. All of a sudden you boycott. You can't be selfish. Don't worry about the people that want to know the scores.
All of a sudden you boycott.
That's not good.
Now, because you're a giant.
Shout out to the Lions.
Now you want to take a stand with Kaepernick because you're a giant.
What up, though, Lions?
All right, Detroit beat the Giants.
All right, let's keep it moving.
Let's talk about...
There's no other games on?
No, that was Monday Night Football.
Okay.
Let's talk about the Hurricanes.
Yes, Hurricane Maria has left devastation in Dominica.
Isn't that where you're from, MB? Yes. All right. Well, Hurricane Maria has left devastation in Dominica.
Isn't that where you're from, MB?
Yes.
All right.
Well, yes, my dad's from there.
Well, man.
Man, shut up.
Stop lying.
Well, there are initial reports of widespread devastation.
According to the prime minister, they have lost all what money can buy and replace,
and their greatest fear is that they'll wake up to news of serious physical injury and possible deaths as a result of landslides that were triggered by persistent rains.
So right now it went from a Category 5 storm.
It's now a Category 4.
And they're saying that it is going to hit Puerto Rico.
It'll be the first Category 4 or greater hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in 85 years.
There's also hurricane warnings in effect for Guadalupe, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Montserrat.
That's where my mom is from.
The U.S. and British
Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Culebra,
and Vieques. So, in addition
to that, we still have
Hurricane Jose in the Atlantic
and they're saying there will be tropical storm
warnings for parts of the U.S. East Coast. And there was
also an earthquake in L.A.,
a 3.6 earthquake that was felt in L.A.
That was last night, particularly
on the west side and in the San Fernando Valley around
11.20 p.m. I told y'all that the earthquakes
was going to start soon. When those first couple of hurricanes
hit, I said, wait till the earthquakes start on the west coast.
You ever been in the west coast during an earthquake?
Nah, I haven't either. I was one time. I didn't know
what was going on. I was in a restaurant and
I didn't know if it was me, if I drank too much.
Everything just started shit. It feels weird.
Lord have mercy. I felt the earthquake here
once in Jersey. This was a few years ago, remember? It was like a slight Lord have mercy. I felt the earthquake here once in Jersey.
This was a few years ago, remember?
It was like a slight little tremor.
I thought I farted real hard.
I was sitting on the couch with my wife.
I was like, damn, you fart?
One of us farted.
But it wasn't an earthquake.
All right, now Toys R Us is preparing for bankruptcy,
and that's all happening right before Christmas.
Toys R Us cannot compete in this current market as consumers are going where?
To online retailers like Amazon.
Of course.
So if they file, that bankruptcy will be the biggest to take place this year.
It has around $5 billion in debt and more than 1,600 stores worldwide.
Taking away the kids' toy experience, man.
But you know what those stores like Toys R Us should have been did?
You know how, like, you go to McDonald's and they got, like, play areas and stuff like that?
Places like Toys R Us should have been had those so kids still want to go.
Like, kids would still want to actually physically go into a Toys R Us should have been had, though, so kids still want to go. Like, kids would still want to actually physically go
into a Toys R Us.
Nah, you don't.
I mean, online now,
you can just go right online.
You ain't got to worry about it.
And kids don't want to go there anymore.
Kids don't really want to play like that.
But I just gave you a reason
what would make kids want to go.
Like, take me to Toys R Us.
Yeah, kids still like to go places
where there's activities.
I used to love going to Toys R Us, though,
because you get to see everything
and want everything.
But Adidas has also passed Jordan Brand
as the second most popular
sneaker now. Nike's still number one.
Adidas is now number two.
They're saying that they've never seen a brand in the sneaker
industry grow this fast. From January
through August of this year, Adidas had 11.3%
of the U.S. market share by dollars,
and that was up from 6.6%
that they had over the same period last
year. Don't drop one of those bombs for Adidas.
Things change. Change is good.
Shares of Adidas are up 31.3 percent over the past year and shares of Nike are down
three percent.
Listen, Adidas makes the best women's athleisure.
So, and Puma.
I thought Fashion Nova made the best woman's leisure.
Athleisure is like athletic leisure.
Yeah, I thought Fashion Nova made the best woman's athletic leisure.
With the hoodies and the sweats and the leggings.
They don't...
Okay, there you go, boy.
I wouldn't say that, no.
I don't know.
I don't see y'all women
on Instagram talking about
get 50% off Adidas
athletic leisure,
but y'all be on there
to get 50% off Fashion Nova.
Adidas ain't sponsoring
them, Fashion Nova's sponsoring them.
Use my code.
They need a Fashion Nova
for men, don't you think?
If they have Fashion Nova
for men, be lit.
All right, well, I'm Angela Yee,
and that's your rumor report.
All right, thank you, Miss E.
Speaking of Fashion Nova.
I mean, I'm Front Page News, sorry.
All right, thank you, Miss E.
When we come back,
Macklemore will be joining us.
We'll kick it with Macklemore,
so don't go anywhere.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee,
Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We got a special guest in the building,
Macklemore. What's up, y'all?a God. We are The Breakfast Club. We got a special guest in the building, Macklemore.
What's up, y'all?
Welcome.
He looks all calm and everything.
What am I supposed to look like?
I don't know.
Supposed to look excited, energized or something.
That's true.
I am pumped. You have an album coming out September 22nd?
Yes.
Yes, I do.
I wasn't going to talk about that.
The fact that you're here.
I've seen the story on TMZ that recently a drunk driver ran into your Maybach.
Yes. Now, tell us what happened with that. An a drunk driver ran into your Maybach. Yes.
Now tell us what happened with that.
An alleged drunk driver.
Alleged drunk driver.
But, yeah, he was drunk.
Let's call it what it is.
We'll say alleged because he will try to see you.
So we'll say alleged.
Yes, alleged.
Okay.
I was with my nephews in the car.
How old are your nephews?
10 and 14.
14-year-old in the front, 10-year-old in the back.
And we were driving home, driving into the hotel.
And a guy came, taking a turn that you probably should have taken in about 15 miles an hour.
He was probably going 50.
Sheesh.
Almost tipped his truck and just smashed right into me.
Did you see it coming at all?
Yeah, I saw it coming.
I mean, he was going so fast, there was nothing I could have done.
You were driving? Yeah, I saw it coming. I mean, he was going so fast, there was nothing I could have done. You were driving?
Yeah, I was driving.
Oh, my goodness.
And, yeah, you know, it was like that split second of like, am I going to die?
Boom.
And, yeah, I've never been in a car accident like that.
You know, I've been in fender benders and whatnot.
But that was, it was scary, man.
It was very scary.
And, you know, lucky.
Your nephews were good?
Everyone was good.
I mean, there was some. Everybody had seatbelts on and everything? Yeah, everyone had seatbelts. The Maybach is, of course It was very scary. And, you know, lucky. Your nephews were good? Everyone was good. I mean, there was some.
Everybody had seatbelts on and everything?
Yeah, everyone had seatbelts.
The Maybach is, of course, a very safe car.
The reason why I bought it.
Oh, that's.
Because of its safety.
Okay.
And.
Because of its safety.
That's why you bought it.
I'm sure.
Yes.
Not the flex whatsoever.
Let me go get a Maybach.
Yeah, not the fact that it's a beautiful machine.
Yes.
But go ahead.
That I know you appreciate as well. Yes. You go ahead. That I know you appreciate as well.
Yes.
You like those beautiful machines.
I own one as well.
That must be traumatizing for, you know, your nephews too.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
No, my 10-year-old in the back was screaming, cussing.
I was like, oh, yeah.
I could imagine.
He was just like, what the f***?
What the f***?
And you can't get mad at him.
You can't beat him.
You can't say stop cursing.
You just got to let him go.
Thank God you're alive and cursing.
Yeah, you got to let him cuss.
You got to let him cuss.
Get that out.
But yeah, it was crazy, man.
It was crazy.
We were lucky to walk away.
And everyone was okay.
You know, I thought the other guy was going to be dead when I walked up to the car.
Because he didn't have a Maybach.
He had a truck.
But he was okay.
I mean, he was bloody.
So how was he when he came out?
Did he apologize?
He was unconscious.
Really?
Yeah.
And then you ended up having to go to court
for a suspended license.
Oh, come on.
You didn't have a...
Yeah, that was the worst part.
I mean, that wasn't the worst part about it by far. So then they give you a ticket.
You just get in an accident.
It was like I was there for two hours, you know, at the scene, talking to police, all that.
And then at the very end, he was like, oh, yeah, by the way, here's a court date.
You have a suspended license.
They could have just said, man, just make sure you take care of your suspended license.
Nope.
They had to give me that ticket.
What was the suspended license for?
Like not paying a ticket, a speeding ticket
Damn it man
Yeah man, I don't know, I didn't even know about it
But you took care of it of course
I took care of it
Now you've had quite a journey already
With number one songs
And then even just dealing with your own personal life issues
In the midst of all of this
And coming back and doing a solo album now
Without Ryan Lewis Did he produce anything on this and coming back and doing a solo album now without Ryan Lewis
who did he produce anything on this album?
No not on this album. Nothing.
Why not? You guys beefing or?
There's a lot of beef.
No there's not a lot. I was joking.
I was like wow really? I said okay.
Spill it. Spill it. Nah there's
no beef at all. You know we worked together for
10 years straight. You know every single day
in the studio, on the road, music videos
like literally every day.
And I think after the last album, it was like,
you know what? Let's take some space. Let's take some time
and, you know,
go work with other
people, do our own thing when the timing
is right. It does. It does.
There's no way to explain it without it.
Yeah. Let's go be with other people.
Let's go be with other people and see what go be with other people. And see what happens.
You have an open relationship now.
Yes.
It's meant to be.
We'll get back together.
Yes.
I've tried to pull that one with women many times.
And it doesn't usually happen when I would go on the road.
I'd be like, let's just take some space.
Because I'm going to.
For the next two weeks.
Right.
And see what happens.
I'm going to ask.
Well, so far from what I heard, because I've heard two songs and a snippet of the song with Offset
So you had the song and the video Glorious
For your grandmother's 100th birthday
You took her out on the town
So it seems like this is more of a fun album
Yeah it definitely
I mean there's some moments in there for sure
There's some songs in there that are a little bit darker
But for the most part
It's where I'm at in life
If I'm in a good place that's's going to be reflected in the music.
You know, I built a studio on the crib, got my daughter upstairs.
You know, I would record, go up, hang out with her, go back down.
And it was just a fun experience.
And when you're in that place, that's the creativity that's going to come out.
I didn't expect that from you. I expected, you know, you're in that place, that's the creativity that's going to come out. So I didn't expect that from you.
I expected, you know, you're a very conscious person.
You talk about everything that's going on in the world is gay rights or police brutality.
Black Lives Matter.
Black Lives Matter or going on what's going on with Trump.
White supremacy.
Right.
What made you have the fun route this time opposed to being more conscious?
I mean, I did that on the last album, you know, and I people always say to me, like, yo, there's so much like going on in the world right now.
Like, I know you got to say.
And for me, it was like, you know what?
I don't want to make music because I feel like I have to or that's what people expect.
You know, I want to make music if I'm feeling that if i'm feeling that and i was feeling
it you know you're watching the news like i'm feeling those things but um i've already touched
on it and not to say that i won't touch on it again but i think that music is resistance
even if it doesn't touch on those issues specifically you know i think glorious is a
song of resistance it's just an uplifting song it doesn't have to hit the nail on the head and be
like this is what i'm talking about this is the subject matter this is the social you know
moment that i'm speaking on right now it's more like you know i'm just trying to have fun in the
studio and hopefully pull people out of those moments um that they're seeing on the news yeah
you think that talking about politics affected the sales of the last album yes yes i mean i think amongst other things i think we
had a rollout that was pretty horrible trash because horrible trash is really negative
um no it was trash let's call it what it is it was trash we just had so much time in between like
downtown dropped and like you know the album didn't come out for seven months after that.
White Privilege 2 was obviously a very polarizing record, which we knew going into it.
But yeah, I think it was the rollout.
I think anytime you bring up an issue like white supremacy, you're going to have a bunch of particularly white people like what
like white supremacy like what is he doing what is this what is this concept who's he trying to
appeal you know there's just so many questions that came from it um but i wouldn't you know
outside of our own timing i wouldn't have changed a thing you know i'm very proud of the music that
we made and stick by it and very proud of what white privilege was as a record.
And as you know, behind the scenes of the conversations and the relationships that I built around that record and and talking about race and and really going there.
All right, we got more with Macklemore when we come back.
That was 50 Cent, 21 Questions.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God,
We Are The Breakfast Club.
Macklemore is in the building.
Is it very difficult for you
being a white artist
and going against the system?
Because do you have both fans?
Because it seems like
you would have both fans,
people that are for the system
and people that are against the system.
It's difficult for me to complain
about being white in America
in any way.
Right.
You know, I think that this system is built for me to prevail.
That is what white supremacy is.
So it's difficult for me to be like, oh yeah, it's difficult.
I think that anytime anybody talks about race in America,
I mean, you look at what's going on right now,
you bring up white supremacy and you're going to get a bunch of feedback and criticism.
But, yeah, I don't know, man.
I think it's important that we have conversations around race, that we're honest around race, that we continue that dialogue, knowing that it's not going to be perfect, knowing that, you know, it's a learning process, that we're all trying to learn and get better at talking about race openly. But as long as there's that conversation happening, I think
that we're in a good place. You feel like it's your fight to do? Absolutely. Why? We as white people
are the reason why white supremacy exists. You know, it's not on people of color to fix this problem.
It's on white people to fix this problem.
Now, when did you decide that it was time for you to do another solo album?
Because it's been a while since you did one.
Like, how long?
Over 10 years?
12 years?
Something like that.
Makes me sound real old.
Yeah.
What made you say, okay, now it's time for me to do another solo album?
You know, when Ryan and I were like, we're gonna take a break it was it was definitely a moment you know i'm like i don't need to go back
into the studio you know i don't know what i should do right now do i go into acting do i
you know what do i want to do like creatively and it was really my wife that was like yo get back in
the booth like go make an album don't take off two years don't take off
more time like go get in the studio and do what you love to do and um that's when that was that
moment and i set off last november i you know when we got off the road i was like okay i'm gonna make
a song a day in november and uh i never really done that before like the way that me and ryan
worked was like okay like now we have a subject.
We're going to work on this beat and this topic for a couple weeks.
I'm going to rewrite a bunch.
I'm going to keep writing.
He's going to keep working on the beat.
This was like, yo, every day, let's start something new.
And songs just started to stack,
and I was liking the way it sounded,
and I was like, okay, this is an album.
Did your relationship with your wife suffer
when you were going through a period of like you know substance abuse oh yeah was it
that like did she tell you you have to get help you have to do something or was there a period
of time when it seemed like it might be over um yes yes uh if I'm using drugs, then that's like the worst version of myself.
Right. You know, I can't show up and be present in a relationship. I can't be present for myself.
Everything goes to the wayside. I only focus on getting loaded like That's it. And because of that, relationships suffer,
and my wife is at the forefront of those relationships.
She gets it the worst.
I'm not there.
I'm just escaping, trying to not deal with what's in front of me,
which is life.
So, yeah, she's always the first one to look at me and be like,
are you okay?
And call me out.
And, yeah, so we definitely went through some ups and downs for sure.
Yeah, definitely.
And, you know, stuff that's not fair to her that I've had to go back and make amends for.
And trust issues, you know, I mean, still, like, you know, the more that I'm, you know, doing interviews on The Breakfast Club and, you know, music's popping off and it's on charts and all these things.
You're about to go on tour.
Yeah, about to go on tour.
Like, my wife gets scared.
She's like, you know.
This is how it started the first time.
Yeah, exactly.
Like, it got really crazy during the heist.
And I didn't know how to handle all the fame and the success and the ups and downs with it.
And that's when I turned to drugs.
So now she's like, you know, make sure that you're hitting your meetings.
Make sure that, you know, you're connected to your sponsor, that you're spiritually fit.
What got you into drugs?
I know you said it was the success of Heist and you didn't know how to handle it.
But what introduced you to that?
Because, you know, what's ironic is that you were doing so well.
Yeah, you were doing so well.
Top of the charts.
Right.
From the outside looks like
your life was great yeah absolutely when you have money when you're successful things like that
don't happen right like why would you go get high like right like you're good you know it was just
from the jump it was like i never had that off switch i never had that moderation i never had
that you know i'm just gonna do it on saturday and and that's gonna know, I'm just going to do it on Saturday, and that's going to be it.
Or I'm just going to have one drink, and that's going to be it.
You know, it was always like, what the f*** is one drink?
What the f*** is like one pill, one blunt?
Like it just never stops with me.
The minute that I put it in my body, I have an allergic reaction to it where I need more, and it doesn't stop.
You know, the crazy thing about it, I've never used drugs,
and that's my fear, that it feels so good,
you just never know when to stop.
So I try to make my drug life.
So what encouraged you to use drugs?
Was it the songs, and you heard songs on the radio?
Like, damn, let me try this.
Or was it people close to you?
You know, I don't know.
You know, you grow up with hip-hop music.
And by the time I probably started to smoke weed, I was in seventh grade.
Seventh grade?
I'm listening to, you know.
It feels like the cool thing to do.
Yeah, I'm listening to Wu-Tang talk about smoking weed.
So don't blame it on Wu-Tang today.
It's Wu-Tang's fault no but like it's all that
stuff does influence you though you know we we can like joke about it but the truth is like
we look up yeah you look up to rappers you know particularly I mean even as a grown-ass man I'll
hear some music and be like you know that sounds kind of fun like we just had dj paul and
you know talking about scissor and that it does sound like that's cool they do it you know you
know and i don't have a problem with people talking about their drug use you know rap
reflect your life if you're if you smoke if you drink if you do pills, whatever. What I have a problem with is the people that don't do that
and still rap about it to sell records.
That, to me, is super corny.
It is a detriment to society.
You know, you don't have to be a role model.
Like, you don't have to, you know, be clean and sober, like, by any means.
Get loaded, talk about it on record, whatever.
But if you don't do that and you talk about it, to me, that's like the worst.
I think it's really helpful when people have gone through things and talk about what they went through.
Like for you to come up here and in other interviews and just be open about the struggles that you had,
because things like that are really helpful to other people who might be considering like trying something or struggling with it themselves.
And they're like, OK, Macklemore went through this.
And, you know, at least I know I'm not alone.
At least I know even if you're successful, you can fall into those pitfalls.
Right.
And that is what, when I first got sober in 2008 and went to rehab,
that was a conscious choice for me to put, you know,
I wrote a song called Other Side.
And that is, that was a conscious choice of me to put, you know, I wrote a song called Other Side and that is, that was a conscious
choice of me. Like, yo, I can't not talk about my struggles with drugs and be like an authentic
artist. Like this is a part of who I am. I have this disease. I need to speak on it. I relapsed.
I made a song called Starting Over about like, you know, losing your clean time and having to
start over. I've talked about, you know, relapses in the past.
I want to be an open book about it and be like, you know, it's progress, not perfection.
I'm never going to be perfect with it.
It's going to be a thing of daily maintenance.
And if I only talk about like, yo, I'm sober, but I'm really getting loaded, that's whack too.
I need to be honest with my struggles. Does that mean you don't drink at all I don't do anything
no no no no I don't do anything got an absolute positively stop but again I
have relapse you know I haven't drinking alcohol and in almost 10 years but um
you know I you know had moments of doing drugs and falling back and you know had
my issues for sure.
Well, there you have it.
September 22nd, Gemini, the album comes out.
And then you can catch them on October 6th.
And we appreciate you for joining us.
Thank you, guys.
It's Max Lamar.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee.
Rumor has it.
On The Breakfast Club.
So listen up. Well, Kevin Hart's ex-wife, Tori Hart, was on Inside Edition,
and she talked about the situation with Kevin Hart and him
as he has openly admitted before cheating during their marriage.
This is all in lieu of what's happening now,
where Kevin Hart came out and admitted that he did his new wife,
Aniko Hart, wrong.
Here is what she said.
I have an ex-husband who has repeatedly used me in his stand-up routines.
You know, for years I had to endure that.
Did Aniko start dating Kevin while you guys were married?
According to her dates, yes.
Aniko claimed they were separated, living in separate homes.
I was never a secret.
I was like, what? Never a secret.
She said that we were separated and not living together.
That's a lie.
We were very much not separated.
Is he capable of cheating again?
I don't know.
I can't say yes.
I can't say no.
I can just say that if it happened to me, it can happen to anyone.
All right.
Well, in the meantime, Kevin Hart had a meeting by telephone yesterday afternoon
with two investigators on the case of whoever is trying to extort him
That call lasted an hour and a half
And he wants to help law enforcement identify and catch whoever the person trying to extort him is
Or whoever they are
As he should, this is a teachable moment for everybody
Guys must learn not to cheat
And women must learn not to extort men when we cheat
Alright, well the woman who is on
the beginning of the video
that was released is
a stripper named Mantia Sabag.
She was a stripper.
And she's also, yeah, she's in there
as well, but we don't know
if it was her. What's her name?
Mantia, M-O-N-T-I-A
Sabag, S-A-B-B-A-G.
Jesus Christ. Now she's denying
That she had anything
To do with shooting
This video
And releasing it
And trying to get money
Really
So who set the camera up then
She has gotten her lawyers
Almost immediately
After Kevin Hart's team
Contacted her
And her lawyer said
That she would sit
For a lie detector test
If Kevin paid her
$420,000
First of all
Stop it you lying asshole
Okay
Shabag was trying
To get the bag
Who else set the camera up in the room?
Kev sure didn't.
All right.
Knock it off.
Right.
Now, Inigo has been.
I just want to tell you, when you Google her name, it says she's a traveling stripper.
Traveling stripper?
Yeah.
I guess she travels from state to state.
That's not far-fetched.
I've seen that before.
I haven't.
Go ahead.
All right.
In the meantime, Kevin Hart is currently shooting in Clayton, Georgia, Night School, the movie
that he's in.
And Inigo has been out and about.
She's not answering any questions about the whole situation, but she's been spotted out and about.
So she's not in hiding or anything like that.
Listen, man, it's just not worth it at the end of the day.
You got to get that buck out of your fellas.
OK, if you're going to commit to a woman via marriage, you just got to get that buck out of you.
All right. It's not worth it.
This is a prime example of it not being worth it.
Definitely not worth it.
All right. now let's discuss
the real.
They had your Honda Pace on.
Your Honda Pace is the woman
who said...
Where are these names
coming from this morning?
She had an underage
sexual relationship
with R. Kelly.
And this was on yesterday,
so she talked about
different details
with her alleged experience
with R. Kelly.
And she started off saying
how she was trained
to satisfy him.
She actually lost
her virginity to R. Kelly.
Here's what she said.
The trainer is a woman, and she trains you to please him sexually.
I got invited to his tour bus.
So I went out there to his tour bus, and you have him naked, and you have her naked.
And I'm looking like, okay, what is this?
Because Rob is the one who took my virginity.
So I was like, so what's going on?
And he's like, don't worry about it.
Because I guess he saw that I was looking uneasy.
And I wanted to know, what am I doing?
And that's when he told me, look at her.
And he said, she's going to teach you everything you need to know.
OK, she goes on.
Wow, what the hell is going on?
To talk about what else was happening in this home
where she was staying with R. Kelly.
Here's what else she said.
And he told me to remove my clothes. that's what made her engaged in sexual activity.
And she just, she was doing everything. Like, I didn't know. Like, I was 16. I was scared,
but I was like really nervous. And he's like, just take your clothes off and she'll teach you
everything. And I'm like, okay. So I just went along with whatever he was asking me, but I was
very scared and he picked that up.
At what point did the culture collectively say, you know what, no more R. Kelly for me?
Now, she talks about escaping.
Jahanda Pace said she escaped from R. Kelly, and this is how she did it.
Well, he was preparing for a party at the time, and I told him that my uncle lived a few doors down,
and I wanted to go to my uncle's house to grab some shoes.
And he was like, okay, well, when you get there, you get the shoes,
you come right back. And at that moment,
when I knew I got out the house, I was like, I'm not
going back. And I got out. You left everything behind.
I left everything behind. Only thing I had in my
hand was the cell phone. That's because, of course, you
need to communicate with him to get back in.
I have no, I don't know if that girl's lying or telling
the truth, but I have no reason to believe she's lying
because we all saw the tape. All right? That's
number one. And number two, I expect
Fox in the Real to be getting hit with a lawsuit
from R. Kelly real soon. How old was she again?
She was only 16 at the time
and she said she was still a virgin, so she was
very inexperienced when all of this
allegedly went down. Now, of course
he could sue if this is an
untrue story, but she's told this story before
to BuzzFeed and other outlets.
BuzzFeed ain't Fox in the real. Different kind of bag.
So we shall see what happens.
Alright, I'm Angela Yee and that is your Rumor Reports.
My goodness. Alright, Miss Shee, thank you.
Charlamagne! Yes. Who you giving that donkey to?
Look, man, I need Chanel West Coast to come to the
front of the congregation. I'd like to have a little word with her.
Oh, you saw Love & Hip Hop yesterday. I didn't see
Love & Hip Hop, but my producer hit me to it about
20 minutes ago and I would just like to
have a conversation with Chanel.
Me and Chanel are cool, though.
We'll see about that. One thing about me
and mine, I like to tell mine the truth.
Okay. We'll get to that when we come back.
Keep it locked. This is The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
I was born a donkey.
It's the donkey of the day.
That's pretty funny. Donkey of the Day. Donkey, donkey, donkey. What the f*** is that?
That's time for the Donkey of the Day.
That's pretty fun.
With Charlamagne the Devil?
Possibly.
The Breakfast Club.
Yes, Donkey of the Day for Tuesday, September 19th goes to Chanel West Coast.
You know Chanel West Coast and I had a little encounter earlier this year on MTV's Ridiculousness.
Let's hear it in case you're not familiar.
My only strategy is just to tell the truth. It's like whatever I said about you,
I'm gonna say to you, and I'm gonna
continue to say it to you regardless of how mad you get.
But just because you say something doesn't make it the truth.
I told her she was whack rapping one time.
Yeah.
Have y'all ever heard her rap?
Okay. Good for the people that said no.
Well, no.
Hold on, hold on.
Let's just get this.
Lil Wayne, who co-signed Drake and Nicki Minaj,
is the same person who co-signed me.
I won a BET award with Young Money.
I got songs with French Montana, YG,
Ty Dolla $ign, Snoop Dogg.
Mind you, I did a song with Snoop Dogg
after getting into a verbal argument with him because he respected me so much after I spoke my mind to him, he still came, I did a song with Snoop Dogg after getting into a verbal argument with him.
But because he respected me so much
after I spoke my mind to him,
he still came back and did a song with me.
Why you talking with your hands, dog?
You don't know my musical track record, bro.
You don't know my musical track record.
Sorry.
I can't be so funny today
because he doesn't know my mother...
musical track record.
So get from me, man.
At the record show,
people always like to say Wayne found Nikki and Drake,
but they always leave out Lil' Twist and Tyga.
Chanel is hilarious.
Bless her little heart.
The thing about Chanel West Coast is that she's always talking about this imaginary resume she has.
She's always talking about this track record.
She's like the side chick who claims she's the main chick,
but when you ask the guys about it that she claims to be with,
they don't claim her like that.
Now, last night
on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, Chanel West Coast
was trying to convince a producer named A1
to do something that no producer
really wants to do, and that's record music
with her. Last night, Chanel West Coast
asked the producer A1 about helping her
make some mayonnaise music. Yes, Chanel
wanted to know if A1 is interested in helping
her provide a soundtrack for her unseasoned
chicken breast, and A1 had to remind her
that back in the day when I wanted to work with you,
you played me. Oh yes, we've heard
this tale before. Back then you didn't
want me, now I'm hot they all on me.
That's what happened with Chanel and A1 last night on
Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. Can we hear a bit of this, please?
I rap and sing, and I really
like your beats. We should definitely link up.
Just so you can get familiar, I was with
Lil Wayne and Young Money. I sat and played all my music for Lil Wayne,
and I have songs with French Montana, Snoop, Be Real,
Ty Dolla Sign, The Lister and all.
I got a lot of good collabs.
I got a lot of good collabs.
Yeah, you could ask them.
I met you before.
Um, I wasn't as hot.
I was in a session with French Montana, you know,
and I'm like, yo, we should work.
And, um, you had your shades on.
I don't know, you probably never looked at me, but
I was trying to work with you.
You played me.
I hope the best for you.
I can't work with you.
Drop on a clues bomb for A1,
damn it.
That's why you got to treat everyone
with respect because you never know
who's going to be who. Basically, A1
told the deli owner to hold the mayonnaise.
Now, when the mayo that is Chanel West Coast wasn't allowed on A1's sandwich,
when she got introduced to a tribe called Curve,
not only did she start running down her track record,
it was interesting to see how she took me telling her that she was whack.
I don't know if you know my track record.
Charlamagne said it, right?
No, I had to tell him what it record. Charlamagne said it, right?
No, I had to tell him what it was.
Charlamagne also has went at some of the biggest rappers in history.
So in my opinion, I'm up there with Kanye and Drake and everybody else.
You know what I'm saying?
What?
But listen, if Charlamagne's been dissing Chanel West Coast,
you're just putting me up in the caliber of the mother**** you dissing.
Wow.
That's very ambitious.
That's dope.
Chanel West Coast thinks because I have called out Drake and Kanye before that,
since I called her whack as well, she's on their level.
First of all, even though Drake has never been my cup of green tea,
I've always said he was an extremely talented individual.
Just because I call Kanye West Kanye Kardashian and I think he's in the sunken place does not mean I am not a fan.
Kanye West is a musical legend. You, Chanel,
are none of these things. Alright? Let's be clear
on that. There are four types of delusions
in this world. Alright? You got bizarre
delusions, non-bizarre delusions,
mood congruent delusions,
mood neutral delusions. I would say,
Chanel, you fall under the bizarre delusions
category. Somebody ask me what bizarre delusions
are. Nobody's gonna ask me.
What's bizarre delusions? Bizarre delusions are. Somebody asked me what bizarre delusions are. Nobody's going to ask me. What's bizarre delusions?
Bizarre delusions are considered extremely
odd, highly implausible,
and inappropriate based on the person's culture
and life experiences.
An example of a bizarre delusion
would be the belief that an alien
performed surgery and replaced
all your blood with Kool-Aid without
leaving the scar.
Chanel West Coast thinking she's on the same level as Drake and Kanye West
because Charlamagne has so-called dissed all of them.
I have been very specific about any reason why I wasn't feeling Drake and Kanye
about something, but those guys are extremely talented.
Just like with you, Chanel, I think you're a lovely person,
but you're just a whack artist.
Okay.
I think Donald Trump is whack,
and I've said that he's whack a bunch of times on this radio,
but that don't make you the president, does it,
Chanel? Doesn't make you one of the highest
politicians in the world, does it? Just because I diss
you and Donald Trump. Chanel, you're
a whack rapper, okay? You have done music with
all of those people, you got this long track
record, and it's gotten you absolutely nowhere.
You have every musical cheat code
known to man, and you keep
failing. And you know what they say.
When all else fails, there's always delusion.
Chanel, don't go chasing Texas Pete.
Stick to the Hellmans and the Miracle Whip that you're used to, please.
Uh-uh.
Give Chanel West Coast the biggest, you know?
Jesus Christ, man.
I'm actually going to play her joint in the mix this morning.
No, you're not.
Why are you lying?
You couldn't name a Chanel West Coast record.
Exactly.
All right.
I was joking.
I ain't got no Chanel West Coast in my laptop.
Oh, we believed you.
No Chanel West Coast in my cell phone.
God bless Chanel West Coast's mayonnaise-filled heart.
All right.
All right.
Well, thank you for that donkey today.
When we come back, let's talk the VH1 Hip Hop Honors last night.
I didn't see it, but you guys are talking about it so much.
Charlamagne, what was your opinion on it?
I thought it was trash.
I thought it was absolutely, positively garbage.
It had some moments, but I feel like there was a lot missing.
I feel like you cannot put a decade's worth of music into an hour and ten minutes or whatever it was.
And I found it very disrespectful that they would make people like Master P and Jermaine
depreciate a stage.
Both of them are legends.
They should have been honored separately.
I hated how they tried to mash up all the songs that had no cohesiveness.
Like, what do Big Pun, I'm Not a Player, and TLC, No Scrubs have in common?
Like, why did they mash all those songs together?
Well, how were the performances?
They were performing, right?
The older artists were performing. Performances were good. Escape came out and did Just Kickin' together? Well, how were the performances? They were performing, right? The older artists were performing.
Performances were good.
Escape came out and did Just Kickin' It.
Oh, how was that?
I mean, listen, I love Escape, so I'm here for it.
I just felt like you can't rush through the 90s, bro.
All right, well, let's open up the phone lines.
And shout out to Regina Hall, who actually hosted.
I like Regina Hall a lot, too.
Let's open up the phone lines.
800-585-1051.
Did you see the VH1 hip-hop honors last night?
What did you think?
Who did you think was missing?
Because I have a list of people.
Okay, we'll get into that when we come back.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Good morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
Now, if you just joined us, last night was the VH1 Hip Hop Honors show.
Yes, indeed.
I didn't see it, but tell me about it, guys.
I thought it was trash.
It was poorly executed.
You can't cram a whole decade into an hour and 10 minutes.
And I hate when you have all the right ingredients to make something good, but the food still comes out nasty.
You had Martin Lawrence there, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Hype Williams, Master P, Jermaine Dupri, Missy Elliott.
You had all those key pieces that you were honoring.
Right.
And you couldn't get it right.
It was rushed.
It was edited poorly.
I hated how they mashed up all the different songs from the
90s that didn't even have no cohesiveness.
You had Fat Joe
and Remy Ma come out and do Big Point, I'm Not a Player.
But then you had Candy and Tiny doing
No Scrubs with that.
There was a couple other artists in that mix as well.
Then you had
Silk the Shocker, Escape, Trina, Trick Daddy.
They all were performing.
Yeah, like they did a Down South medley
where it was like Trina and Trick and Romeo and Usher.
I mean, not Romeo and Usher.
Romeo and Silk did Master P.
And then who came...
Escape came out with them.
Mariah Carey performed.
No, but I'm talking about during that one segment.
Right.
During that one segment.
It was a lot.
But it was like, that didn't make any sense because you was honoring
Matthew P. and Jermaine Dupri.
So why wouldn't you do All So So Deaf and All No Limit?
It just felt like it just wasn't put together properly.
There were some highlights, like Missy Elliott.
I always love seeing Tiana Taylor dance, so that's always a highlight for me.
I mean, that was cool, too.
But think about all the songs they crammed into her spot.
First of all, she came out there dressed like TLC.
You didn't shout out TLC once.
You had Tiana come out dressed like TLC, but she was dancing to like Belle, Bibb, DeVoe.
And it's like, you know, they just missed a lot.
It was a whole medley of songs.
But there was a lot of people that I felt like were missing, too.
Like when you think of the 90s, who do you think of?
Uptown Records.
Right.
TLC.
And New Jack Swing was there in the 90s.
Yes.
80s and 90s, yeah.
Late 80s, early 90s.
That's up there.
I think of, what about hip hop?
Like Wu-Tang.
Wu-Tang.
The Chronic album came out in the 90s.
There was no hip hop.
They paid homage to Mobb Deep.
They had Lil' Kim and Havoc come out there and do,
and Fabulous come out there and do,
I think, Shook Ones, I believe.
I think of like Jodeci.
They did West Coast.
Janet Jackson.
They had Warren G come out.
And that was weird, too, because it's like,
why wouldn't you just let the older artists
perform their songs?
And if you want to...
Well, I guess because
they're being honored,
maybe they didn't want
to make them have to do that.
But that made no sense
because you had Warren G
come out there
and do his own song.
I think what they do
traditionally with the
VH1 Hip Hop Honors
is that they have
the newer artists
perform the older artists.
That's traditionally
they honor those
and they don't normally
have to perform.
That would make sense,
but they had Warren G
come out there
and do his own song.
It just didn't make a lot of sense. And then they had Ty Dolla $ign do Nate Dogg's part. Like, why don't normally have that form. That would make sense but they had Warren G come out there and do his own song. It just didn't make
a lot of sense.
And then they had
Ty Dolla $ign
do Nate Dogg's part.
Like why wouldn't you have
they have Montel Jordan
in a commercial.
Why not have him come out
and do this is how we do it.
Like it was just poorly done
and it hurt my feelings
to see it at the end
when it was executive produced
by Queen Latifah
and Shaq Ham
and Mona Scott Young.
Y'all grew up in that era man.
Y'all not supposed to let
Part of that era.
If y'all part of that era
y'all not supposed to let
somebody rush through
the 90s, bro.
Like VH1 did a very
piss poor job.
And you know,
I know I'm probably
going to get emails
and calls about this later
from my Viacom people.
Now on Twitter,
people are saying
the crowd was all wrong
and they said,
how do you not show love
to Outkast?
That was, oh, hey, Gala.
Outkast was 90s.
Yeah.
It was just poorly done.
Like I said,
you can't rush through a whole decade in an hour and ten minutes,
however long it was.
And how are you going to honor Martin, right?
And have Avion Crockett come out and do Dragonfly Jones.
I think that was Lamar playing Officer.
I can't even remember what the officer's name.
The officer, the crazy officer, the police officer.
Otis.
You had Regina Hall come out and play Roscoe, but nobody going to play Shanaynay?
How you don't have Shanaynay?
How you going to have three characters from Martin
but not have the most iconic character, Shanaynay?
Y'all dropped the ball on that VH1.
I love the Niners, man.
Did they do anything bad boy, biggie, none of that?
Nothing bad boy.
Nothing Tupac?
No, I don't remember no Tupac.
It was just a lot missing.
Maybe they should have just focused.
You know how they did when focusing on New Jack Swing.
Maybe they should have just focused. There you go. It had focusing on New Jack Swing. Maybe they should have just focused
on... It had to be more focused.
There you go. That's exactly it.
If they would have did maybe girl groups of the
90s. There you go.
You take three or four... Because that's something that you can
constantly do. That's not something you can just
do one time. You don't have to do one thing on
the 90s. They did nothing about SWV.
I saw Lili actually complaining about that
on a social media live. Let's go to the phone line.
Hello, who's this? Deja from
Boston. Hey, Deja, did you watch the VH1
Hip Hop Honors last night? I sure did.
I caught about 45 minutes of it. What do you think?
First of all, it was over
so quickly. All I know is I went in the kitchen
to get something to drink and came back and it was over.
I know. I agree. I was like, damn, that's it.
Did I miss the first hour? You do a whole decade in 60 minutes.
Is there a part two? I was like, oh, no. It was trash to me. It was like, damn, that's it. Did I miss the first hour? You do a whole decade in 60 minutes. I was like, is there a part two?
I was like, oh, no.
It just was, it was trash to me.
Like, it was just so short.
I was like, what?
That's it?
Okay.
Thank you, mama.
Wow.
Hello, who's this?
Yo, my name is Carlita.
Carlita, did you see the VH1 Hip Hop Honors last night?
Yes, I did.
What did you think?
Okay.
So, I don't know, like, after all these years, Mariah Carey, she still can't walk and sing at the same time.
Like, they didn't teach her how to bop, rock side to side or nothing.
Mariah does not care.
Could you stop? Mariah's 57 years old.
She does not care. She's 47.
You called her 71 earlier today.
800-585-1051.
Last night was a VH1 Hip Hop Honest.
It was trash. It was very poorly executed.
Call us up right now.
Everybody involved, that should be ashamed of themselves.
It's the Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are the Breakfast Club.
Did you see the VH1 Hip Hop Honors last night?
What did you think?
Now, Charlamagne said it was trash.
It was very poorly executed.
You can't cram a whole decade into an hour and ten minutes.
And, you know, Yee brought up a very good point.
It just should have been more focused. Right. Like, you don't have to try toam a whole decade into an hour and ten minutes. And, you know, Yee brought up a very good point. It just should have been more focused.
Right.
Like, you don't have to try to do the whole decade.
Honor a few artists from that decade and keep it moving.
Right.
If you're not going to do something correctly, don't do it at all, man.
And it bothered me that Queen Latifah, Shaqem, and Mona Scott Young were executive producers of that show
because they are part of that era.
They are part of the 90s.
You cannot let our culture be disrespected and misrepresented the way it was last night.
Now, you said it wasn't her cup of tea.
She said some of the performances were okay.
I said, yeah, listen, I don't want to insult certain people that I thought did a good job.
I just thought the whole production and the way it was put together did not honor the 90s properly.
I mean, it had nothing to do with the people that were there.
Like I said, I hate when you have the right ingredients to make some good food and the food still comes out nasty.
You had Martin Lawrence.
When was the last time
you seen Martin on TV?
Anywhere.
I was so excited
when they told me
Martin was going to be there
and he was being honored.
They also honored Hype Williams.
Hype Williams?
You never see Martin
in Hype.
Nowhere.
He gave the shortest speech
in history.
But it was edited wrong too,
though.
Like,
it was something wrong.
They edited it.
I'm sure Hype probably
didn't say much,
but they just edited it
to make it look terrible.
What about the Fugees?
No Fugees was there, bro.
No Fugees was there, though. What about Mary J. Blige?
They didn't rep Mary either. No Mary?
Yeah, man. They missed a lot. My goodness. Hello, who's this?
This is Deanna. Hey, what did you
think about the VH1 Hip Hop Honors?
I mean, it was pretty good to me,
but I was just like, where's Aaliyah?
She's dead. Yeah, Aaliyah wasn't going to be there, but they should have definitely honored Aaliyah.
You know Aaliyah passed away, right?
No, they could have honored her.
I don't want to make sure she knows.
Because Missy Aaliyah was there.
Missy not dead.
No, I'm saying to honor Aaliyah.
Oh.
What about Genuine?
He ain't do Pony?
No, no Pony.
And you know white people love Pony.
They love Pony.
That's why everyone loves Pony. No, not like white people love Pony. If we put Pony's what you want. When they ain't no... FYI, everyone loves pony.
Nah, not like white women.
If we put pony on right now, both of y'all gonna start jarring up.
Fat white women love pony.
That's my two goals.
You hear me?
My two goals during the Kentucky Derby.
Pony.
White women over 200 pounds love pony.
As soon as you hear that first...
They get to jiggling.
They get to jiggling.
Hello, who's this?
Hello.
Hey, what's your name, bro?
Hey, it's Jason. What's going on, Envy? What's up, Charlamagne? What's up, Ye? Hey. What. Hello, who's this? Hello. Hey, what's your name, bro? Hey, it's Jason.
What's going on, Envy?
What's up, Charlamagne?
What's up, Ye?
Hey.
What's up?
What's happening?
What's happening?
We're talking VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
Did you see it last night?
Yeah, I saw it last night, man.
I mean, I had a lot of questions about it.
Like, I don't know.
I think it's another Mona Scott sale,
produce series thing.
Oh, my gosh.
I can't blame it all on Mona.
She was one of the producers.
Queen Latifah was a producer.
Shaquem was a producer.
You know, they all are to blame because they came up in that era.
They should know better.
Indeed, indeed.
But one of my biggest questions was Mariah Carey's a pop icon sensation.
She doesn't have that much to do with hip-hop, to be honest,
because she did a couple of records with ODB.
No, no, not true.
I think that is one thing I think they got right when they explained why she was being honored at Hip Hop Honors.
Because they were saying she helped hip hop cross over.
Like ODB on a pop record back then.
The Lox on a pop record.
Like Mariah didn't have to do that.
Mariah was a pop music darling.
So what do we say about Martin and the hip hop culture for getting honored?
Because Martin, that was a hip hop show.
Martin was a hip hop guy. Think about all the hip hop artists that used a hip-hop show. Martin was a hip-hop guy.
Think about all the hip-hop artists
that used to be on this show.
Think about the slang
that was used,
the clothes that were worn.
I get that.
I get that.
I totally get what you're saying,
but I mean,
there were so many other people
that could have been honored.
I mean, you had this little
honored Sesame Street.
You know what I mean?
No, no, no, no.
Martin was incredibly huge.
He had Biggie on the show.
He was definitely hip-hop. You sound like one of the people who probably helped produce this show.
Now, what about Kid Capri?
No DJs?
Clue was DJing.
Clue.
Clue was there.
Clue was the quintessential 90s DJ.
Okay.
All right.
Well, what's the moral of the story?
The moral of the story is, man, if you're not going to do something right, don't do it at all.
You cannot rush through a whole decade in 70 minutes, man.
People really take this culture serious.
Like, I grew up in the 90s.
You know what I'm saying?
I caught my first felony in the 90s.
All right?
I sold crack in the 90s.
I lost my virginity in the 90s.
I got my license in the 90s.
I was in high school in the 90s.
I have a lot of memories attached to the 90s.
So, to see VH1 try to cram a whole decade into an hour and 10 minutes, it was just extremely disrespectful.
Cameraman said you lost your hairline in the 90s.
I didn't lose my hairline until about 2009, 2010, actually.
I've lost my hairline in recent years.
Goodness gracious.
You got rumors on the way?
Yes, we are going to talk about since Mariah Carey was at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
You know, she has a new show coming.
We'll tell you about that.
Also, Kendrick Lamar talks about his first concert ever.
All right.
All that when we come back.
Keep it locked.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club.
Let's get to the rumors. We're talking Kyrie Irving.
It's about time.
What's going on?
Rumor report. Rumor report.
This is The Rumor Report.
Talk to him.
With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club.
Well, Kyrie Irving was on first take and he talked about LeBron.
He was asked about why he didn't speak to LeBron about his trade request
and also whether or not he thought he could win a title without LeBron James.
And he said absolutely he can.
Now here's what else he had to say.
Stephen A., as you sit up here and Molly and Max, as you guys are professionals,
I don't think that you owe anything to another person in terms of figuring out what you want
to do with your life. And it's not anything personal. I'm not here to go at any particular
person or the organization because I have nothing but love for Cleveland. Ultimately,
you have to be selfish in that and figuring out what you want to do. It wasn't about me
not wanting to win. I want to be extremely, extremely and figuring out what you want to do. It wasn't about me not wanting to win.
I want to be extremely, extremely happy.
Okay, now there were all kinds of rumors floating around about what's going on with Kyrie and LeBron.
Some of those things were that he didn't want to wait around to see what LeBron would do in free agency after the season.
That sounds about right.
That he didn't have faith in the team's management or coaching staff.
I can see that too. That he was tired of the drama and the circus that follows
LeBron wherever he goes. I doubt it.
And that he preferred to focus on basketball.
So all of those things are rumors that were
floating around. I should have given my heads up though.
I mean, yeah, but clearly there's something
between him and LeBron. I wouldn't call it
tension, but there's something. But at the end of the
day, it is just business. LeBron
ain't friends. But we on the same team. We played on the
team for what, the last what, three, four years?
Yeah, and guess what?
Give me a heads up.
I'm going to go talk to the boss, all right?
I'm not talking to the second in command.
Because contrary to popular belief, LeBron James is still the second in command in Cleveland.
All right, now, Kendrick Lamar, what is the first concert that you would think that he's ever been to?
What would you guess?
After Dre.
All right, well, it wasn't until he actually got his first performance where he was opening for the game that he actually went to a concert.
So his first concert was his own.
Wow.
He'd never been to a concert before that.
He said, I didn't even get to go to a show when he was younger.
This is in an interview with Billboard magazine.
He said, back then we didn't have the money for it.
When I went on tour with the game, that was my first show.
So that's pretty popping.
That's your first time ever going to a show, and it's yours.
Mariah Carey has a new show
coming on VH1. Now, her show on
E! got canceled, Mariah's World, but
now she is doing a docuseries. She's working
on another show where she'll be
documenting her 20th
anniversary of her album, Butterfly, with a
world tour that she's doing next year, and VH1
is documenting all of that. So,
if you're here for it, you're here for it.
If it's better than the VH1
90s hip hop honors or whatever it was called last
night, yes. If not, no.
Alright, now Dick Gregory's family is
upset that he wasn't honored during
the Emmys. I thought they would at least honor
him. Disrespectful. Yeah, so
Charlie Murphy's rep too. Now Charlie Murphy's
rep said they even sent in photos
for the Emmys for the show's In Memoriam segment.
So there's no excuse for not having him in there at all.
They were like, oh, these are going to be great.
These will work really well.
And then for some reason.
How you don't remember Charlie Murphy and Dick Gregory?
They remembered the dude from True Blood who got my face, Lafayette.
But they didn't remember Dick Gregory and Charlie Murphy?
I mean, it's just a picture.
Like, that's all it is.
You can't put up a picture of Dick Gregory and Charlie Murphy? That's crazy. I mean, it's just a picture. Like, that's all it is. You can't put up a picture of Dick Gregory and Charlie Murphy?
That's crazy.
Jesus Christ.
Now, Eminem is getting involved with hurricane relief efforts for Texas.
He's getting his celebrity friends to auction off their most rare sneakers.
He has his own platform called StockX.
He's one of the owners of that.
It's the world's first online stock market of things for high-demand consumer products.
So he's already gotten Pharrell, LeBron, Mark Wahlberg, Snoop,
a whole slew of people, Steve Aoki, 2 Chainz, all of them,
Steph Curry donating sneakers to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas
and Hurricane Irma in Florida.
Fans get to make $10 donations.
You get entered into a drawing.
17 people will win a pair of sneakers from the celebs listed above,
and the first $250,000 that they make,
his Marshall Mathers Foundation will also match that.
That's dope. And A$AP Rocky and
Under Armour have announced a new partnership.
Me and Envy have that stock. You think that's
going to help it? I hope so. It's been going down.
Alright, so that should be pretty
interesting. And
Floyd Mayweather, speaking of getting money, has
just purchased a new home in Beverly
Hills. $26 million
cash is what he paid for. $26 million cash. Sheesh.
Is what he paid for it.
$25.5 million for the purchase of the home
and $500,000 to purchase all the furniture inside.
So he's going to keep all of that.
And then he's going to put a Trump sign in the yard?
Probably.
Probably, right?
All right, well, I'm Angela Yee,
and that is your Rumor Report.
All right, thank you, Miss Yee.
Had enough of this country?
Ever dreamt about starting your own?
I planted the flag.
This is mine.
I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete.
Or maybe not.
No country willingly gives up their territory.
Oh, my God.
What is that?
Bullets.

Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, 1974.
George Foreman was champion of the world.
Ali was smart and he was handsome.
The story behind The Rumble in the Jungle is like a Hollywood movie.
But that is only half the story.
There's also James Brown, Bill Withers, B.B. King, Miriam Akiba.
All the biggest black artists on the planet.
Together in Africa.
It was a big deal.
