Here are the days. biggest stories. Stay with me. A Memphis mother who says she found a 20-year-old man hiding under her 13-year-old daughter's bed is now facing a first-degree murder charge. Police say 36-year-old

Kendra Scott came home around 140 in the morning and found Rodarius Morden underneath her daughter's bed. According to the arrest affidavit, Scott confronted Morden and ordered him to leave. Investigators say he walked out the front of the house, but the confrontation didn't end there. Police say Scott followed Morton outside and shot him once in the back of the head. Officers found him in the front yard. He later died. Scott is being charged with first-degree murder and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Her bond has been said at $100,000 and she's due back in court next month.

Well, you know, the challenges I'm seeing are for the state in trying to go forward on first-degree murder charges. You know, you've got a woman who is kind of living out your, your worst nightmare is a parent. To expect anybody to be able to act in a cool, calm manner, premeditate any sort of act. It's just unrealistic. I think even the best of us, the worst of us, any of us, would be acting irrational. The legal fight in this case centers on what happened after Morton left the house. Under Tennessee law, homeowners can use deadly force in certain situations to protect

themselves from an intruder. Prosecutors argue those protections no longer applied once Morton, outside. They're also pointing to statements Scott's daughter allegedly made to investigators. According to the affidavit, the girl told police her mother had previously said she would shoot any boy she found inside the house. Prosecutors say that statement could help establish premeditation. There's also new questions about Morton himself. Family members have said he may have had developmental disabilities, though investigators have not confirmed that publicly or said whether it played any role in the events leading up to the shooting. A jury will ultimately decide whether

prosecutors prove this was first-degree murder or whether the facts support a lesser charge. Ryan Clark's run at ESPN has come to an end. The former NFL safety and Super Bowl champion was among several high-profile personalities let go at ESPN as a restructure following its acquisition of the NFL network. Multiple reports say Clark learned he was being laid off, while he was appearing live on NFL Live. ESPN reportedly moved up the timing because executives believed news of the layoffs was about to become public. Clark spent 11 years at ESPN becoming one of the network's most recognizable NFL analysts. Others reportedly affected by the cuts include Cam Newton, Bart Scott, and NFL insider Tom Pellasero.

The chairman of ESPN told employees the company had to make what he called difficult decisions, as it combined the operations with the NFL network. One person who didn't hold back was Stephen A. Smith, who called the decision a mistake and questioned why ESPN would let go one of its most recognizable NFL voices. My brother, Ryan Clark, a person that I consider to be arguably the best NFL analyst in America, is no longer a member of the ESP. And I can't even tell y'all how much that hurts.

He's a man, and so he's going to handle it the way men do, and we understand it. But I'm going to miss him. I am not happy about this decision one bit. The bosses know I'm not happy about this decision. I've made that very, very clear. But it's also important that myself and anybody else in a world of business be grown-ups and understand that these are the kind of things that happen when layoffs happen. Clark addressed the news with a workout video on Instagram writing, quote,

proof of life. He also posted a message of support for colleagues also affected by the layoffs saying he was praying for everyone who lost their jobs. And while his time at ESPN is over, Clark continues to co-host the Pivot podcast, one of the country's most popular sports podcasts. And finally, Apple is changing how it wants customers to pay for its products. According to Bloomberg, the company is partnering with Klarna to launch a new leasing program called Apple Upgrade. Instead of buying a new iPhone, iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch outright, customers could make monthly payments over two or three years. When the lease ends, they'll have the option to keep the device, return it, or upgrade it to a newer model. The timing isn't accidental. As electronics become more expensive to make, companies are looking for ways to make higher prices feel more manageable. A monthly payment is often easier to accept than paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars up front. For consumers, though, the important question isn't just the monthly cost. total cost over the life of the agreement, including any fees and the options available when

the lease ends. Apple has not officially announced the date of the program, but Bloomberg reports it is expected to launch July 28th. That's your front page. I'm Mimi Brown.
