Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Short on time, but big on true crime. On a recent episode of the podcast, Hunting for Answers, I highlighted the story of 19-year-old Lechay Dungey. But she never knocked on that door. She never made it inside. And that text message would be the last time anyone would ever hear from her. Listen to Hunting for Answers from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio,
Starting point is 00:00:30 app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I love that you created his system that revolves around you creating pockets of peace. World Mental Health Day is around the corner. And on my podcast, Jess Hill with Dr. Jay, I dive into what it really means to care for your mind, body, and spirit from breaking generational patterns to building emotional capacity. I'm going to walk away feeling like, yes, I'm going to continue my healing journey. Listen to Jess Hilbert, Dr. Jay, from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Bridget Armstrong, host of the new podcast, The Curse of America's Next Top Model.
Starting point is 00:01:12 I've been investigating the real story behind that iconic show. I ended up having anorexia issues, bulimia issues, by talking to the models, the producers, and the people who profited from it all. We basically sold our souls, and they got rich. If you were so rooting for her and saw her drowning, what did you help her? Listen to the curse of America's Next Top Model on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you. When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome.
Starting point is 00:01:57 avoidance is easier ignoring is easier denials easier complex problem solving takes effort listen to the psychology podcast on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts i'm a home girl that knows a little bit about everything and everybody you hear that excuse me don't know if you're going to lie about that right Lauren came in hot hey y'all was up it's Lauren la Rosa and this is the latest with Lauren the Rosa or it might be the latest with born Lauren day, because Nikki Minaj has decided that, you know, she had a few things to get off her chest. And apparently Nikki thinks, you know, I'm boring. I'm for the boring girls. So not only is this your home of all things pop culture, entertainment, and all of the exclusives, but we got some things to talk about because Nikki Minaj has some things to say. So now this is your home for all of the barbs to tune on in and take a listen because I know y'all out there listening.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Hey, y'all. Let's get into it. So Nikki Minaj got on her ex account, and, you know, she tweeted a ton of things. Like, some of the things were so random. I don't know if you've ever had, like, a family member that was like, or even a friend that was dealing with a guy or girl. The relationship was horrible for them, right? Like, I mean, the relationship is just ripping them the shreds, but they just keep going back, keep trying to figure it out. To the point where they ain't even calling you for advice no more because they don't want to hear the honest truth.
Starting point is 00:03:23 But you feel so bad. You're just watching it. you're like, oh, things are supposed to go better for them. I was watching Nikki Minaj on X last night, and it is exactly how I felt. This is Nikki Minaj, this is, you know, the queen of rap, self-titled, but also, like, you know, she worked hard for that. And she's here, and the things that she's tweeted, like, she tweeted that she believes that Jay-Z and Beyonce stole a photo pose from her and her husband, Kenneth.
Starting point is 00:03:52 And, of course, she's doing, and I'm, first of all, I think that was just, Like, where is her mind? Like, what's happening right now? But then, you know, she goes into all of the Barney B things. And y'all know all the back and forth that her and Carty have been doing. But she begins to call out some of the media outlets. And she does take more shots at Cardi's kids. I'll read a few of those seats, but I'm not going to get even into too much detail about that.
Starting point is 00:04:17 But if you guys have been seeing Nikki Minaj and Cardi B and people doing a breakdown of what their beef is and why there is beef on your timeline, It's because the X accounts have been Xing. Okay, both of them have been on Twitter using all characters, all right? 150 or more. What does the character count on X now? I think it's about like maybe like 250 or something like that. Whatever it is, okay?
Starting point is 00:04:38 The girls are giving paragraph essay, okay? So Born Lauren is here reporting live from the sidelines to tell you, this shit is sad. It's very sad to watch because Nikki Minaj to me has always been the girl who can hang, The girl who could, you know, she can get with the guys, the raps is rapping, the penance pinning, she's doing what she needs to do, trailblazer, pink print. And I'm not a barb, like, at all. I honestly think people who subscribe to the barb language are delusional, very delusional people, especially if you're over at the age of, like, 21 doing it.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Like, I got barbs in my mention right now that are 55 plus, and I'm like, yo, being a barb AARP is crazy. Like a bar receiving social security Like using your government received money Because you have hit a certain age And a certain level of You can't even remember your kid's names To be a barb and go see Nikki Minaj is insane But one thing I will say
Starting point is 00:05:36 Nikki Minaj is such an icon and such a legend I admire the fact that she has people All over the world I mean I got people cussing me out In French, Spanish tongues like y'all ain't chilling whatsoever they didn't call me a tab hole i thought that was a good one i i'm like i see what y'all did there i thought that was a good one all right they go hard for her i've said this about taylor swift and bionthe i really respect people in any industry but especially in the
Starting point is 00:06:09 creative industry who can galvanize who can get people together make them think all on one accord make them buy things make them show up that is a art in itself that not everybody can do. But the issue is, you know, just a very brief summary and background. If you are seeing all of this Nikki Minaj and Cardi B stuff on your timeline, you're a bit confused or you're just tired. To put this all in a very short summation, Cardi B has joined that group of women that I'm talking about that is able to use her art to be able to galvanize to make people listen to her music, care about her thoughts, go buy her products, show up to album signings and things all over the world in concerts.
Starting point is 00:06:51 And Nikki Minaj is upset about that. That's what it boils down to. That's what it is always boiled down to. And it's sad to watch. I remember when Cardi B and Nikki Minaj had that fight at Fashion Week. And I'm going to get to the tweet where she's coming for us. I'm going to get there. But I remember the night that Nikki Minaj, I'm going to get there, but I got to be a little bit
Starting point is 00:07:12 boring before I get there, okay? You know, I'm going to lean into this boring law and thing. I dress like a librarian a day for. reason all right they had the fight during fashion week and i remember getting the phone call middle of the night and the phone call i received on the other end of the line they're screaming they're like niki minot and carty b just got into it and you know it was it was all it was it was it was mayhem and i could sense that it was hectic just from being on the phone and i'm all the way in la my first thought was first of all these two women are the biggest celebrities
Starting point is 00:07:46 some of the biggest celebrities in the world right now. What the hell are they doing and why? That was the first thing, I thought. The second thing I thought was, why is Nikki Minaj? Like, why as Nikki Minaj, are you even allowing yourself to get to this point with any new artist?
Starting point is 00:08:09 Beyonce would never, ever. A Diana Ross. Like, let's talk about, like, celebrity and elegance and big brands and big business and trailblazers. Diana Ross would never. You can't even speak to her nice because you can't speak to her at all. You got to go through her people unless she allows you to. My point is that at one point I held Nikki Minaj to a very high regard because of everything
Starting point is 00:08:38 she's been able to accomplish in her career, I know it's not easy for women and rap. And a lot of it too, I've always said, and I've said this on my the breakfast club how much of what we see niki minage do in response to women and rap or just not even just women because you know she's calling out rock nation and a bunch of other things and other people to just things and rap in general right or things that she goes through in her life how much of what we're seeing and how we're seeing her response to that have to do with what she's been through she's had to fight very hard she's had to you know tuck her tail and just take some things a lot I'm assuming as a female in rap, especially because she opened up so much for so many other people.
Starting point is 00:09:22 She came after some of the great, too. She's also had issues with Kim, you know. But we cannot act like Nikki Minaj and everything that she has done, the albums, the sales, the tours, the, you know, all of that. We can't act like that didn't happen. But I think the reason why people love to talk to her as if she's just anybody is because she already acting like it. And it's not just her. I feel the same way with Cardi, too. I think there is a certain level of y'all get into this.
Starting point is 00:09:53 It's the rap beef, right? But when it starts getting to a point where you might be, y'all, y'all, y'all messing up the coin in all of the Trailblazer, big brand, big business image and not even just image, because it's not even just about perception. Y'all have really done this. When it gets to the point where y'all are messing that up, I'm like, all right now. Like, let's take a lesson from the greats. even if they got busy, baby, it's a folktale. We hear about it. It's a different time now.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Everything is documented. Y'all, they're on X with all this back and forth. So Nikki Minaj tweets yesterday at Cardi B. She mentions culture again. And in the tweet, you know, of course, anything coming at culture, it's, you already know how that's going to be received from Cardi, like whatsoever. And I want to also say, too, that I don't think here in this situation, like, people are picking sides, like, I'm team Nikki, I'm team Cardi. I don't have a team anything.
Starting point is 00:10:56 I'm team, this looks dumb as hell, and here's who's looking the dumbest, and here's what's dumb on both sides, and I'm going to say it. Like, I think for Cardi, if, first of all, you come from my kid, it's up. So I understand how Cardi feels. I don't have a kid, but I mean, I could only imagine because I feel that way about my niece and she's not even my child, right? So I get that. And I think that there's a certain level of, like, I'm not even on the whole like women
Starting point is 00:11:24 should empower each other and blah, blah, blah, because I've said it and I've said it here on this podcast, sometimes you just don't like a bitch. And it's just how the cards fall. But I do think that there's a decorum, even if y'all going to get busy, even if you're going to trade shots on song, talk crazy about each other. all that. I think it gets to a certain point where it's like, but please remember who y'all are. Like that's my whole thing with this, right? So Nicky Minaj tweeted, it's a lot of tweets. Okay, I'm only going to read a few. This is the same one. This is the same one. I'm looking
Starting point is 00:11:56 at the Barney photos right now that made me laugh. This is the same one I read this morning on the breakfast club too that kicked it all back off. So Nikki Minaj got back on X after they were feuding. They, Cardi B and Nick Minaj were feuding yesterday on X. And she, and she, She said, why can't I find it now? I know it ain't deleted. Okay, here we are. Dear Culture Vulture, your mom is pregnant with another monkey to add to her litter. The gag is she was jealous of a little baby boy simply because his hair was longer than all four of you bald monkeys put together.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Now, that is a tweet to Cardi B and Offsett's daughter, culture. Of course, Cardi replies back and, you know, there's the back and forth. and then they continue now it started. There was one point where Cardi B says that Cardi B says that Nicky Minaj's son Papa Bear that his favorite color is five and that's why Nikki Minaj is mad. She's been calling Nikki Minaj's son slow this whole argument.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Yesterday, okay, yesterday, Cardi said that Nikki Minaj's son is nonverbal and the only thing he knows how to do is bang on, It's bang spoons. If you say my kid's favorite color is five, I got to see you now. Like now I, like, and that's what I mean by, I get it. I totally understand that it gets to a certain point where it's like, all right, what's up? All right, okay, cool.
Starting point is 00:13:25 What's up? But Cardi B is pregnant, number one. Nikki Minaj is Nikki Minaj. They're never, Nikki Minaj and Cardi B realistically will never ever see it. each other. Like, it's not like y'all just randomly be, like, hanging outside. Y'all going to run into each other somewhere, like, in the clubs, in the streets. I know Nikki, I mean, not Nikki. I know Cardi goes out, like, Cardi be in the strip clubs and she be running around or whatever. But even that, it's like, there's security. There's
Starting point is 00:13:53 hell of cameras. Y'all are two of the biggest celebrities in the world. That's not going going to happen. So at this point now, the show that's happening where y'all are coming for each other's kids and talking about all these personal things. The only people watching is them people that are sitting behind the checks of the brands and the businesses and all of that, I wouldn't even play them games with my coin because one thing that's not going to happen, Nicky Minaj, when people decide and businesses decide and other artists decide that they want to distance themselves from you,
Starting point is 00:14:23 the barbs in their social security check, them OG barbs, them barbs that, you know, still got china closets in their kitchens and smoke Newport Pack 100s, that's in my comments screaming right now with the sink breath, they're not going to be able to support the lifestyle you're used to living. That lifestyle is funded by the fact that you are a global superstar. What are you doing? There's obviously something more here at play. And whatever that is,
Starting point is 00:14:49 I hope that people around you are seeing this because it almost gives like a spiral out, like a down spiral of sorts. Like almost like what we were seeing, like what we were saying Kanye West do online. I'm Hunter, host of Hunting for Answers on the Black Effect Podcast Network. Join me every weekday as I share bite-sized stories of missing and murdered black women and girls in America. There are several ways we can all do better at protecting black women. My contribution is shining a light on our missing sisters and amplifying their disregarded stories. Stories like Tamika Anderson.
Starting point is 00:15:26 As she drove toward Galvez, she was in contact with several people, talking on the phone as she made her way to what should have been a routine, transaction. But Tamika never bought the car. And she never returned home that day. One podcast, one mission, save our girls. Join the searches we explore the chilling cases of missing and murdered black women and girls.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Listen to hunting for answers every weekday on the Black Effect Podcast Network, Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. In early 1988, federal agents raced to track down the gang they suspect of importing millions of dollars worth of heroin into New York from Asia. We had 30 agents ready to go with shotguns and rifles and you name it. But what they find is not what they expected. Basically, your stay-at-home moms were picking up these large amounts of heroin. They go, is this your daughter? I said yes. They go, oh, you may not see her for like 25.
Starting point is 00:16:36 years. Caught between a federal investigation and the violent gang who recruited them, the women must decide who they're willing to protect and who they dare to betray. Once I saw the gun, I tried to take his hand and I saw the flash of light. Listen to the Chinatown Sting on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere you get your podcasts. Hey, sis, what if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance bro? Tell you how to manage your money again. Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards.
Starting point is 00:17:15 If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem a year from now. When you do feel like you are bleeding from these high interest rates, I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union, shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt when it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary,
Starting point is 00:17:53 it's not going to go away just because you're avoiding it. And in fact, it may get even worse. For more judgment-free money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, everybody? This is Snacks from the Trabner's podcast, and we're bringing you the horror every week all October long. Starting point is 00:18:24 our favorite horror and Halloween movie, and figure out why black people always got to die The Umbro Reliquary invites any and all fooling, brave enough, to peruse its many curiosities. But take heed, all sales are final. Weekly horror side quest written and narrated by yours truly. With a full episode read and a commentary special. And we will cap it off with horror movie battle royale. Jason versus Freddie. Michael Myers versus the 80 thing with the little tongue muster.
Starting point is 00:18:56 October, we're doing it Halloween style. Listen to the Travener's podcast from the Black Effect Podcast Network On the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And Cardi said it in her tweets. It's to the point now where I just got to see you. But again, when are y'all going to see each other? That's not going to happen. Like, y'all would have to plan that.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Like, it would have to be so planned that it's not even worth the meetup because y'all are who y'all are. But she said it. I'm not going to let you mess up my money. smart choice Cardi because at this point whatever is happening is so sad to watch because I don't care what nobody says whether your Cardi B I don't care what anybody says there's no at some point in Nikki Minaj's career she's inspired women across the board I'm not a rapper I feel like I should have a mixtape though I definitely think I
Starting point is 00:19:51 yo if I dropped a mixtape called boring Lauren y'all would y'all listen to that mix-tap i do like four tracks i would do like four because i'm so boring that's all y'all probably gonna get through anyway maybe two my whole point is though that at some point in every woman's life that is a fan of culture especially if you're a fan of hip-hop there has been something that you have taken from niki minage as inspiration we talk a lot about the bad things with her because she's always just doing the stuff like niki is very outspoken. She's very loud. The beefs be beefing. Like, you know what I'm saying? And I don't want people to take this as, like, I feel like Cardi B and Nikki Minaj can't have a issue with each other
Starting point is 00:20:35 because when the guy rappers do it, we talked about Drake and Kendrick Lamar forever. And they went to hell with each other as well. And we let them rock because it was in music. My point is, though, is that, and I say this with Drake, too, you can't take away what Drake has done. You can't take away to what Nikki Minaj has done. You can't take away to what Nikki Minaj has done. But it is sad to watch. It is very sad to watch knowing how, I mean, at least how I think of Nikki Minaj and what I think of what she's been able to accomplish in her career and breakthrough and all that. To see her online giving it up the way she giving it up right now, I'm very confused. I don't know what's happening. And it's scary to watch if I'm being honest with you. Like,
Starting point is 00:21:18 I'm looking at it. Like, I don't ever want to end up like this. Like, I don't ever want to be, I don't know what is the cause of this, you know, there's been a ton of different reasons why people think this is happening, that has been reported. I know, you know, even Cardi and thrown insults, Nikki Minaj's way has, you know, mentioned what she thinks is the cause of this as well, too. Whatever it is, I don't want to end up here. Because what it screams is that, I don't know, it's just miserable. It's miserable. It's confusing. It's sad. It's childish. is very insecure and that is not the Nicki Minaj that moved to Atlanta and then took over the rap game that Nicky Minaj was busting down doors not giving two shits about what
Starting point is 00:22:09 anybody had to say about her all of this because Nikki Minaj thought that Cardi B shaded her on an album not gonna hold y'all I thought Cardi got off a line or two about Nikki as well but even if she did so what get Like, Nikki Minaj is one of the greatest female rappers. Debate who you want to debate. She's there. Let's have the conversation about it. Like, she is.
Starting point is 00:22:37 All right. So she threw a line away. Throw one back. Y'all talking about babies and kids. And I'm like, yo, this is insane. And it's so crazy to me, too. I think even the stuff when Nikki Minaj is tweeting about Jay-Z, it's like she's tweeting about Jay-Z and Rock Nation.
Starting point is 00:22:54 But she don't touch Queen B. But even with that, I think about that. And I'm like, I know that that relationship with Beyonce meant a lot to Nikki Minaj at one point. Being able to do shows with Beyonce meant a lot to Nikki Minaj at one point. Where do you think that relationship comes back into play, Nikki, at this point? Like, how? Like, that's that woman's husband. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:23:17 It's just there's so much on the line here for both ladies. So it is sad to watch something. small as she might have talked about me on a song, be the root issue of all of this back and forth to the point where now it's like, all right, y'all. Let me get to this tweet. So Nikki Minaj tweeted at a bunch of outlets. She tweeted at Billboard.
Starting point is 00:23:40 She said their time is done. She tweeted to Charles and Harvey over at TMZ, said their time is done. And then she tweeted to the breakfast club. And she said... Charlemagne, did you put that bleaching cream on your dick too? She tagged the president of the United States and told him, lock them all up.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Imagine if you called yourself, Trump the God. Oh, bitch, lock up born Lauren. She's spelled my name L-A-U-R-E-N. My name is spelled L-O-R-E-N. And it pisses me off when people spell my name wrong. But that was my only issue with it. I'm like, I mean, am I really going to lock me up? I ain't did nothing, Nikki.
Starting point is 00:24:24 All I did was read the tweets. You tweeted, like, my bad. So sad. Like, I don't know what you want me to do. I mean, stop tweeting. I'll stop reading. Oh, dang. I'm dressed like I belong in Dr. Seuss.
Starting point is 00:24:38 And now I'm rhyming. The Barb's are going to have a field day with that one, too. Y'all are, y'all going to eat me up. I can already, I'm green eggs in him. I can already see it in the comments. Yep. Go ahead, Barbes, go off. Um, yeah, so born Lauren, that is me.
Starting point is 00:24:51 I'm here. I'm being born. reporting live and just with the test to coals two they're very nasty people queens niggas run these niggas and i guess the queens people she's talking about her something is envy i i don't know man i don't know but here's what i will say first of all stop tweeting stop tweeting i'll stop reading. I also mentioned, too, the boring conversation was a conversation back in 2003 when the world first met me on the breakfast club. So that
Starting point is 00:25:26 means Nikki Minaj has been paying attention for some time. And I am truly honored. Y'all know I'm new in this space. I don't act like I'm not. Truly honored that you have tuned in and that I've kept you tuned in all of this time. Because what what people don't think much about is, you know, Boren Lauren is anchoring conversations and choosing how we discuss things on that platform and you have been tuned into every single conversation
Starting point is 00:25:50 even though this is the first time you've said something directly I know it has grinded your gears Ms. Mnage and not be able to say anything any other time because there's been several times when we've talked about you in some of those conversations I've actually defended you not that I care to have to defend you nor is that my job. My job is to be born
Starting point is 00:26:07 because that is obviously what keeps you coming back. I appreciate the tune in, the bar welcome please follow me totally fine if you want to you know spar in the comments do what it is that you guys do but all i will ask at this point is that both women nicky minage and carty b i think it's just done i think it's over y'all got j t and santana and you know the whole that whole click down spiraling over this yo last night x was looking like 2014 twitter was lit last night i I think it's been a long time since I pulled up the club Twitter and was like, yo, I'm here. I'm parlaying in the parking lot.
Starting point is 00:26:48 I ain't going nowhere, but I was there. And I guess you always said, well, I mean, you're telling them to stop, but you're tuning in. It's my job. I'm not just boring Lauren. I'm also in your business, Lauren, too. Nigel Minaj says she has an album dropping on March 27, 2026. Boren Lauren will be tuned in and we'll be talking about it over on the breakfast club been here at The Latest with Lauren the Rosa.
Starting point is 00:27:12 So welcome. Welcome to the latest with Lauren La Rosa featuring Born Lauren today. I'm here tomorrow. The next day, the next day, the next day. Y'all catch my drift. I'm not going anywhere. So just make sure you spell my name right when you mention me because I'm here. And it's this day.
Starting point is 00:27:29 At the end of each episode, I tell you guys, I am always appreciative for you guys tuning in. My low riders who've been rocking out with me, born or not. I appreciate you guys because y'all could be anywhere. with anybody talking about this stuff and hearing all the recaps, but y'all choose to be here with me every single episode.
