Starting point is 00:00:00 Had enough of this country? Ever dreamt about starting your own? I planted the flag. This is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Or maybe not. No country willingly gives up their territory. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:00:16 What is that? Bullets. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. We need help! That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast
Starting point is 00:00:46 Post Run High is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:01:21 Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best. And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing thing alicia keys like you've never heard her before listen to on purpose with jay shetty on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts the world's most dangerous morning show the breakfast club man what the hell is this man i'm glad they put y'all together. Y'all are like a mega force. Y'all just took over every...
Starting point is 00:01:48 Wake your punk ass up. This is Chris Brown. I've officially joined the Breakfast Club. Say something, mother... I'm with it. The world's most dangerous morning show. Breakfast Club, bitches. Good morning, USA! The Bunk Bed Boys? No, we're not the Bunk Bed Brothers right now. Okay? The Bunk Bed Brothers was something we did yesterday. It was a demo.
Starting point is 00:02:28 All right? We're going to be doing that midnight to 1 in the morning, starting in 2021. And radio stations all across the country. I don't know. I'm just making all this up. Angelique's out. What's popping, Charlemagne? Peace to the planet.
Starting point is 00:02:40 It's Friday. Yes, it's Friday. Good morning. It's Friday. Yes, it's Friday. Good morning. Not just Friday. Our last live show of the year. Okay. Being that COVID-19 hit us the way that it hit us this year. You know, we've been broadcasting from home a lot.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Our last in-studio show was March 23rd. Then we came back and went. We came back on September 9th. That's when I announced the Black Effect Podcast Network. Then we came back in mid-October, I think it was, right? Yep, sounds right. We haven't used any vacation.
Starting point is 00:03:18 Vacation days this week, this year. I think I used like one. We got a lot of vacation hours left. Today is our last live show of the year. Absolutely. Well, yeah, that's what we think. But then they called us and said some guests wanted to come through next week.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Oh, I forgot about that. Guests that's never been on The Breakfast Club. And, you know, sometimes there's opportunities where we don't want to pass. I forgot about that. I don't want to even say who the guests are, but they're good people. They're friends of me and Charlamagne that's never been on a breakfast club that has some things they want to discuss and talk
Starting point is 00:03:51 about, so we got to give them that opportunity. And people that I hate talking to over Zoom. Absolutely. You know what I mean? That's the one thing I'm looking forward to the most when all of this is behind us is no more Zoom conversations. Okay? Actually having people in studio again, looking them in the most when all of this is behind us is no more Zoom conversations. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Actually having people in studio again, looking them in their eyes, discussing whatever the hell we're discussing. I'm so sick of Zoom, everything. Lord have mercy. Somebody sent me, somebody said,
Starting point is 00:04:15 sent me a link yesterday to a Zoom for something I got to do today. And my stomach started hurting. Yeah. Yeah. I've had a computer screen too long and my head will start hurting. Yeah, me too. I get a little dizzy every once in a while It is what it is though But today we have a couple of people joining us And you know, a lot of times
Starting point is 00:04:33 We do a lot of righteousness We do a lot of ratchetness on the show And sometimes we try to help people Perfect balance So today, there's a young lady named Lyric Who I talked about before Her Instagram page is Young Chanel. Beautiful young girl.
Starting point is 00:04:47 I believe she's 12 or 13 years old. She developed some type of brain cancer. If you follow Cardi B or Beyonce, Trader Truth, me, DJ E-Feezy, Little Duval, you see this young lady's journey and how she went from everything's okay, from her singing and dancing to her having brain cancer and I'm trying to get this cancer out of her brain
Starting point is 00:05:14 and the tumor continues to grow and we're doing a fundraiser for her this Sunday. And that's for treatment. That's for her family because they had to move out of their home in Atlanta and go to Houston because Houston has one of the best, I guess, treatment centers for children's cancer. So we want to help her. So we're going to talk to the mom today and just talk about what's been going on with her. And I know a lot of us out there have kids, just some of the signs to look for. So we're going to talk to her and also um what's her name is um monica monica
Starting point is 00:05:47 yes and my guy uh dj shock he's from south carolina you know i'm saying he's somebody that i came up with in my early radio days in south carolina and um he hit me up because you know like a lot of djs and radio, this lifestyle can catch up to us. You know, the late nights. Literally, yeah. The late nights, the no sleep, the not eating right, things of that nature. And it caught up with DJ Shock. And, you know, my man DJ Shock, he needs a kidney transplant.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Right. So we're going to have him on this morning to tell his story. And hopefully we can find him a kidney. Yeah, and I'm going to sound a little stupid. I mean, I've sounded stupid before. I didn't know that, you know, you can give up a kidney and everything can be okay, because when you first told me about it, I'm like, damn, you could give somebody a kidney and be all right, or it has to be one of those things where, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:37 somebody just got into a car accident and they are dying and then they could take the kidney. You never heard of a kidney transplant? I have, but I always thought that it was somebody that was in a car accident and it was dying and it was happening and they could take the kidney before the person dies. You know, in the back of your license, they say, do you want to donate your organs?
Starting point is 00:06:54 And that's what I thought. I didn't know that you could, so. Now, I'm not the highest grade of weed in the dispensary, but I've watched enough movies and TV shows to know that what you just said is absolutely not true. Yes, you can give up your kidney when you're alive, Envy. I didn't know. I'm sorry. What the hell is wrong with you?
Starting point is 00:07:09 Look, I did not know. I'm telling you, I didn't know. And it's good to say you don't know. That's the problem with the world that we live in now. Everybody trying to act like they know what the hell they be talking about when they don't, when the easiest thing to say is, I don't know, and ask them questions. So, yes, you can give up your kidney, and hopefully we'll find one for DJ Shock this morning. All right. Well, let's get the show cracking. Front page news.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Angela Yee is out, so I'm sure we're talking coronavirus and we'll get into it next. It's the Breakfast Club. And we are the Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news. Now, last night and Thursday night, football. The Rams beat the Patriots 24-3.
Starting point is 00:07:48 All right. And also, six-time All-Star forward Paul George has signed a maximum contract extension with the Clippers that guarantees him $226 million over the next five years. I'm happy to see any black man getting their money. You know what I'm saying? But I don't see why the Los Angeles Clippers would be paying Paul George $226 million.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Okay. Jesus Christ. He's not allowing everybody to get his money. He's getting his money. I know. I'm just trying to figure out the business aspect of it. I mean, I didn't see that last year. But whatever.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Drop on the Clues Bonds with Paul George. Get your money. All right. I just hope he becomes the Paul George of old so he earns that cash. Now, Dr. Fauci is saying the U.S. could be back to normal by next summer, provided everybody gets vaccinated. So they are still encouraging everybody to get that vaccination,
Starting point is 00:08:37 except pregnant women. They're saying if you are a pregnant woman, I think the recommendation will be that pregnant women not receive the vaccine until we know more. So now which one is it now? Yesterday they said you can't. I didn't hear the pregnant part. I heard that you can't get it if you got serious allergies. Now they adding pregnant women to the list, too.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Yeah, you know, they did it so fast. I don't think they 100 percent know everything. I think it's just kind of just guessing at this point. Well, you know, if you're pregnant, maybe you shouldn't shake it right now. You know? Once again, that's y'all dumb ass. If y'all run out there and want to be first with that, okay? Just way to beat.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Way to beat. Let everybody else go first. Now, yesterday, this was trending in the last two days. A youth football coach is being investigated for child abuse. Now, the coach, his name is Gerald Williams. It's a video out there. You see the kids coming off the field. Maybe it was a fourth down or maybe it was a fumble. You don't see that part, but the kid is walking up. The kid looks like he's about maybe nine years old, maybe eight, nine years old, 10 the most. The coach cocks back
Starting point is 00:09:41 and punches the kid in his helmet, in his face. Like, not even like a smack on the helmet. No. He swings on somebody like you would swing on an enemy. Knocks the kid on the floor. The kid gets back up. Did it a couple times. Then he hits the kid again, screaming and yelling. There's a parent that's taping it.
Starting point is 00:09:58 Now, I don't understand that. There's no way that I could be, and my son plays football, that I could be watching that, even if it's not my kid, and allow that to happen. You're not just going to swing on a nine-year-old. It's not going to happen. First of all, I was wondering if that was his child. Even if that was his child, it's not okay.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Then I was thinking, all right, well, is that like his stepchild or some woman he's dating, her child? And I was like, even still, that's still not okay. And then I was like, where was that kid's father? Where was that kid's uncle? Where was that kid's nephew? Where was that kid's mom? How do you let the coach do that to your child? I showed Gia the video. She was like, look,
Starting point is 00:10:36 I'm picking up anything I could possibly pick up that's around there and I'm swinging. She was like, if I lose, I lose, but there's no way you're going to punch my son like that. You got to say the young man's name. His name was Jarrell Williams is the coach. That's the guy. Yeah, that's what I said, Jarrell Williams.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Well, he did apologize, a half-assed apology. Can we play it right fast? I'm going to apologize for my actions about what took place. But at the end of the day, I am a man, and I'm not going to make no excuses for what I did. I was wrong. I shouldn't have disciplined him in public. I should have waited until he got back to doing what he did.
Starting point is 00:11:04 At the end of the day, I apologize to him, the kids, the city, down here, and my family back at home. I do apologize. There's no excuse for my actions, you know. He forgave me, and his parents have forgiven me. So nobody else should be bashing me. Thank you. He said that he shouldn't have done it in public.
Starting point is 00:11:19 In public. No, you shouldn't have put your hands on that little man at all. And the fact that he said his parents have forgiven me. Who is his daddy? Who is that little boy's daddy? That little boy's daddy should be putting hands on Gerald Williams just like Gerald Williams put hands on that little boy. Like, I don't understand the reasoning for that.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Like, I don't get it. But I'm a person that don't even beat my kids because, you know, I grew up getting some real extensive beatings when I was young and didn't even realize that was the source of a lot of my trauma. You get beat with an extension cord and then your pops make you go take a bath. You be, you know, that kind of sticks with you. That's why I'm in therapy today at 3 o'clock, 3.15 actually. But, yeah, he had no business putting his hands on that kid like that.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Yeah, no, I agree with you, but we'll get into it more. That is crazy, but that is your front page news. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up right now. Phone lines are wide open. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:12:13 What's up, everybody? This is Maury Povich, and happy 10-year anniversary to The Breakfast Club. I mean, 10 years. Urban radio. It's a tough gig, And to survive that long, you're The Breakfast Club. I'm telling.
Starting point is 00:12:33 I'm telling. Hey, what you doing, man? I'm telling. I'm calling. I'm calling, yo. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed. 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:12:43 We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? What's up, Envy? What's going on? Who's this? It's Trav. What up, Trav? What's the matter, man? You don't sound like the usual, normal Trav, man. You got a lot of bass in your voice this morning.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Yeah, I ain't gonna lie, man. I need everybody. I need the praying grandmothers. I need praying mothers. I need everybody that can pray. All the prayer warriors that pray for my little sister. What happened, sis? Yeah, she's only 20.
Starting point is 00:13:11 And about a month and a half ago, we found out that she needed a double kidney transplant. So, on the other day, she had a seizure. So, they took her to the hospital. And yesterday, she had a stroke and now she's in ICU on a ventilator. Damn. She has a rare bleeding on the brain so
Starting point is 00:13:32 let's pray for her, man. Definitely, man. Definitely, Chad. Definitely will, my brother. Let's pray for her, man. We definitely will, Chad. We definitely will, Chad. Alright, Joe. Give me a her, man. We definitely will, Trav. We definitely will, Trav. All right, Joe. Give me a hug, man.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Trav. I'm all right. I'm all right. I'm all right. I'm hugging you and I'm rubbing your lower back right now. He's, yeah. He's hugging your stomach. He's hugging you from the back, Trav.
Starting point is 00:13:59 No, I'm hugging you with your lower back. Stop moving my hand. I'm not going no lower, Trav. Yeah, I'm funny, man. But, no, seriously, pray for her, man. Yes, definitely will. All moving my hand. I'm not going no lower, Trav. Y'all funny, man. But, now, seriously, pray for her, man. I'm about to represent her. Alright, man. Appreciate you. Thank you, brother.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Everybody going through this. That time of year, man. Yeah, alright. Well, let's go to another caller. Hello, who's this? What up, man? This is Knowledge, man. How y'all doing? Knowledge, what up, man? Knowledge Born. What's up, baby? What's the science, God?
Starting point is 00:14:29 I've been calling y'all for 10 years, man. First of all, you got to tell me what movie that was from before we continue this conversation. Man, really, man. Okay, I'm just making sure. There you go. You know, but nah, man, I appreciate you guys. I called y'all when I was in Pine Bluff,
Starting point is 00:14:44 and then I moved to Dallas. And, man, you guys have been so inspirational across the no, man, I appreciate you guys. I called y'all when I was in Pine Bluff, and then I moved to Dallas. And, man, you guys have been so inspirational across the globe, man. And if y'all get out these next five years, man, y'all got to come to the west side of the Mississippi more. There's small towns that need to see you guys. Like you said, Charlemagne, like what the Democrats need to focus on is run through the whole South, come through these small towns because there's black people down there that want to believe.
Starting point is 00:15:10 But, man, it's so manipulative, man. It's so manipulative. You know how you got your big bosses in New York on Wall Street? Man, you got these people that got these sharecroppers that got all the land in small towns and they manipulate it. You know that you've been in this one corner, cross the track. You know what I'm saying? You already know.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I'm from one of them small towns. I'm from the corner of South Carolina. Yeah, man. So I appreciate you guys. And Charlamagne, man, you know, if you got room, man, we got a podcast, unspoken conversation, man. We just need Taylor for about 90 days. We just need Taylor for about 90 days. Starting point is 00:15:46 You know what I'm saying? Drop on a peace bond for Taylor. Yeah, man. Of course. She the next Oprah. She the next Oprah, man. Yeah, come to Dallas, man. We'll pay for a ticket.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Outspoken podcast? That's what it's called? Unspoken conversation. Unspoken conversation. Website, IG. We're going to approach our 100th episode, man. You know what I'm saying? We got some good podcasts in Dallas.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Y'all just got to come down and come get the content. Come vibe with us. All right. Check it out, King. All right. Keep achieving. All right. Get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:16:16 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Hey, guys. I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High High is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together.
Starting point is 00:16:54 You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tribe owned country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast.
Starting point is 00:18:19 That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step.
Starting point is 00:18:55 And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best.
Starting point is 00:19:13 And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's go. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed. Say it with your chest.
Starting point is 00:19:32 We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. So if you got something on your mind, let it out. All right, it's time for Get It Off Your Chest. And let me shout out to everybody out there that rocks with me and my wife, Gia. Now, you know, every year we do 12 Days of Christmas. Every year we do 12 Days of Christmas. And if you don't know 12 Days of Christmas,
Starting point is 00:19:49 I started this tradition early on where every day I would get my wife something for Christmas. It started with something small, whether a letter, a picture, something like, you know, something from the first restaurant that we ever went to, which was Tony Roma's or something like that. And then it became, when I started making more money,
Starting point is 00:20:06 the gifts started getting a little better. This year, we're not doing 12 Days of Christmas. And the reason for it is it just doesn't feel right. With everything that's going on in the world, everything that's going on, it doesn't feel right to purchase my wife something every day for Christmas. It just, it doesn't feel, it doesn't sit well with us.
Starting point is 00:20:23 So what we're doing is we're actually giving back for 12 days of Christmas. So we're taking 12 families in because people are struggling. They lost their jobs. They've been furloughed. They're praying that they can get their kids toys for Christmas, or they're praying that they can have food for Christmas, or they're praying that they can have clothes and help with a lot of other things. So instead of buying 12 days of Christmas and paying for 12 days of Christmas,
Starting point is 00:20:47 what we're doing is doing 12 days of giving back where we're going to take different families and help them out. So I know so many people are asking, when does it start? No, we're not doing it this year. I think this is better. It just feels better. It just honestly does. So just hit Gia's DM and my DM.
Starting point is 00:21:05 And you can hit our email if you listen to the podcast. And we just want to help families out. I mean, we've been blessed. It's been tough during the pandemic, but we all right. We've been okay. So if we can help people, I think we prefer to help people and do the 12 Days of Christmas this year. All right?
Starting point is 00:21:21 Dope. Let's continue on. Hello, who's this? Hey, my name is John from Connecticut. So first things first, I just want to give y'all a big shout out. Y'all are super duper dope. I'm a cleaner. I listen to y'all all the time on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 00:21:36 Brother Y'all Live, and I've been listening to y'all on YouTube. So real quick, two things. I just wanted to add Charlamagne for if he could send me that ladies book. I got both of his books already. I wanted the ladies. Yep. It's called The Unapologetic Guide to Black Mental Health by Dr. Rita Walker. Just put you on hold and get your address.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Yep, I'll send it to you. Perfect. And wait, one more thing, one more thing, one more thing. My favorite moment, real quick, is a moment that I didn't even hear live. I heard it years ago. Like I said, I've been listening to y'all YouTube videos on YouTube, and there was a moment on a decision where some kid had brought his daddy up there because his daddy had slept with his daughter.
Starting point is 00:22:14 No, his dad. No, no, my bad. What? Because daddy had slept with the kid's girl, and he had confronted the dad and was like, yeah, we did it one time, and the kid got mad, and the dad whooped his ass in the studio and that was hilarious. I remember that. I just heard that episode. I want to say like last week
Starting point is 00:22:30 while I was cleaning. I wonder if we should bring the decision back in 2020, 21. I definitely need to. If y'all could do it in like a super duper safe 2020 way, not like a 2013 way, but y'all definitely need to though, man. I'm telling you. That's the problem. We'll figure it out. Right. All right. Well, thank you for calling,
Starting point is 00:22:46 brother. Hello, who's this? What up, man? Scooby from Virginia, man. Scooby, what up? Scooby-doo-doo. Scooby-doo-doo. Yeah, yeah, yeah, man. I know, man. I relapsed. My bad. I didn't relapse because I wanted to
Starting point is 00:23:01 when certain deaths happen. It's really messed up. Hold on. First of all, I want to when certain deaths happen. It's really messed up. Hold on. First of all, I want to give y'all a 10-year mark. Full clip, gangsta,
Starting point is 00:23:10 decade of hits. For real, man. I love y'all. All day, straight up and down. First and foremost. All praises due. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:23:17 Thank you. You said you relapsed on them Scooby snacks? Nah, son. Chill out, Sharla. Chill out, dude. What? Come on, man.
Starting point is 00:23:26 Okay, okay. Come back up with that, manla Chill out, dude Come on, man Go back to your back of a back, man Chill out Alright, listen Envy, beige race Ain't no beige race You're not Dominican Yo, I peep it It's cool But look
Starting point is 00:23:35 The mental health issue You're right, yo It sucks, yo Because me When I lose people Lose people in my life I lost my son My homegirl, homies, a rack of people.
Starting point is 00:23:47 You know what I mean? I don't know. I'm still trying to figure out why I'm still here. You understand? And when I'm relaxing, that's what I do best. I drink. Well, you need to stop drinking. That's not what you do best, sir.
Starting point is 00:23:59 That's not what you do best. Don't lie to yourself and tell you that's what you do best. When you're indulging in self-destructive behavior like that, that's not you at your best. No, that's you at your worst. And people that love you. So you need to be here. You're here for a reason.

Starting point is 00:27:47 and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Starting point is 00:28:19 and you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Debo. She's spilling the tea. This is the Rumor Report with Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. We have to send a rest in peace to Tommy Tiny Lister. He died at the age of 62. You might know him as Debo.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Now, friends and business associates of Debo became worried Thursday when they hadn't heard from him. So they called the police and the police did a welfare check and they found him unconscious. They believe that Debo died of natural causes, you know. Why do people say natural causes? What is natural causes? It's got to be something. What makes people die of natural causes?
Starting point is 00:29:24 What is natural causes? I don't know, but that's what to be something. Like, what makes people die of natural causes? Like, what is natural causes? I don't know, but that's what they're saying. If you don't know who Deebo is, one of his biggest parts was when he played Deebo in Friday. Let's play a clip of it. What's up, Smoke? Nah. What you got on my drink?
Starting point is 00:29:37 Nah. Don't lie. I'm not, man. What you got, Craig? I'm broke as a joke. Y'all some high rollers rollers and y'all broke What's up Stanley Craig's telling been acting funny lady
Starting point is 00:29:58 Come on smokers go in Yeah, I like him is I like him in Friday But I like them too when he was a, the human wrecking machine in the WWF. Yeah, he was a wrestler as well. At one time. Now, Zoe Dollaz, we reported yesterday that Zoe Dollaz was shot, and now we have more details. They believe he was pulling up to a club. He was driving his black Mercedes, and they said another vehicle pulled up on the side of him
Starting point is 00:30:25 and started unloading on the vehicle they believe it was a silver suv and they fired multiple gun shots uh and hit zoe dollars in the leg several times he also had a female passenger in the car and she wasn't injured well i'm glad that they didn't die because when you die like that that's called uh being dead of nigga causes. All right? Nothing natural about that. Right, right, right. So they said that Zoe Dollaz had been at a birthday party and they believe was followed onto the highway
Starting point is 00:30:53 and that's when it probably happened. He was shot five times. Now see, when you hear that, how old is Zoe Dollaz? Zoe Dollaz is, let me see, I've just seen his age. 30 years old. Yeah, when you hear stuff like that thank God that he's alive I'll take the natural causes for 500 Alex give me that all
Starting point is 00:31:10 day long I just want to live long I want to live long and prosper 62 is young to die that's old 62 years old yeah and also Lil Wayne is being sued by his ex-manager his ex-manager saying Lil Wayne you owe me 20 million dollars nowmanager. His ex-manager is saying, Lil Wayne, you owe me $20 million.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Now, the man's name is Ronald. No, it's not Cortez. I never heard of his manager. His name is Ronald Sweeney. He claims Lil Wayne hired him between 2005 to renegotiate his deal with Cash Money. They believe that he also had to fire Cortez, but they said things got a little strange,
Starting point is 00:31:45 and then all of a sudden he feels like Cortez and Mac Mane pushed him out. He was supposed to get a commission between 10% to 17%. He says Lil Wayne has money. He says Lil Wayne just sold his masters to Universal Music Group for more than $100 million, and he wants his PC. He wants his percentage.
Starting point is 00:32:02 I don't know if he's telling the truth or not. That's why they got court. They have court and contract. So, I mean, if he was Wayne's manager during that time and he can prove it, I'm sure he'll get something. But he is being sued for $20 million. All right. And that is your rumor report. Now, when we come back, we have front page news.
Starting point is 00:32:24 We'll give you some updates on coronavirus and we have to talk about this coach who punched a nine year old in the face. Say his name. His name is Jarrell Williams. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Be part of a great colonial tradition. Why can't I trade my country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:34:45 What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:35:10 As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like, grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best. And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.
Starting point is 00:35:54 Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's get in some front page news. Now, in Thursday night football, the Rams beat the Patriots 24-3.
Starting point is 00:36:14 And no surprises there. The Rams are 9-4, Patriots were 6-7. I thought it would be a little closer. Nah. Now, also, six-time All-Star forward Paul George has signed a maximum contract extension with the Clippers. He signed a $226 million deal
Starting point is 00:36:29 over the next five years. Yeah, that deal is proof that they don't pay you for what you're doing. They pay you for what you've done. Right. Because Paul George has had a pretty stellar career, especially in the beginning. So they're definitely paying him for what he's done because they can't be paying him for what he did last year.
Starting point is 00:36:45 Right now. Also Dr. Fauci. He says that the U S could be back to normal by next summer, provided everybody gets the vaccinated. But if you're pregnant, he doesn't know if the FDA doesn't know if you should be taking this vaccination.
Starting point is 00:37:00 He says likely to recommend against the vaccination. If you are pregnant. Well, I'm pregnant. Okay. I'm going to wait until I have this baby about nine months. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Let y'all go out there first. And you know, if everything gets back to normal, they don't need to take it. I'm not a vaccine type of person. I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but I just, I haven't taken vaccines in years.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Yeah. I'm going to take it. I took the flu shot this year. My doctor told me that I should. Reason being is if I do get sick, they can kind of just say, well, at least we know it's not the flu. So me and the family. You're going to be on the front line? Well, I mean, we can't be on the front line.
Starting point is 00:37:37 They're going to give it to elderly people. They're going to give it to essential workers that work with elderly people, people that work at hospitals or doctors. They're going to get it first regardless. But then after that, yeah, I think I'm going to jump in that line. Nope, I'm going to let that other wave go. Then I'm going to sit back and watch and see if a horn grows out your head. If the horn don't grow out your head and I need it, I'll get it.
Starting point is 00:37:56 All right. Now Biden has his latest cabinet picks. He picked the Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary Tom Vilsack picked the Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary Tom Vilsack. Also Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, he picked Congresswoman Marcia Fudge.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Yes. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Dennis McDonoghue. Director of the Domestic Policy Council, he picked Ambassador Susan Rice. She's been on Breakfast Club before. She has.
Starting point is 00:38:26 And United States Trade Representative, he picked Catherine Tai. So those were his picks. Yeah, I'm glad Marsha Fudge became the head of HUD because that means that it's a congressional seat open. And our good sister, Senator Nina Turner, a former Ohio State Senator who also served as national co-chair for Bernie Sanders. She's filed to run for Congress. She's going to go after that seat. That seat was held by Marsha Fudge, but now Senator Nina Turner, I'm hearing,
Starting point is 00:38:56 is putting her hat in the rink to go after that seat. So I'm all behind Senator Nina Turner. Drop on the clues box for the good sister, Nina Turner. And you can check out the Hello Somebody podcast on the Black Effect iHeartRadio podcast network hosted by Nina Turner. Right, and show them it meant throw a hat in the ring, not rink, the ring.
Starting point is 00:39:14 What I said? Rink. What is a rink? Why do people say that? It's a ring, man. Oh, okay. Like rocks and rings. I thought it was a rink.
Starting point is 00:39:22 For all these years, I thought people were throwing their hats and skating rinks. I didn't know. and lastly uh you throw your hat in the ring and they throw your hat in a ring like you throw it in a fight you compete yeah you're not okay oh you had no ice skating rinks all right goodness gracious now lastly uh this this story really upset me now youth football coach he's investigated for child abuse. Now, the coach, he attacked a kid. His name is Jarrell Williams.
Starting point is 00:39:50 He's from Georgia. So let me tell you what happened. This is a nine-year-old football team. So the kid is nine years old. They were running off the field. So we don't know if it was a fourth down, if they fumbled, whatever happened. But as the kid was running off the field, the coach, Jarrell Williams, cocked back and snuffed the kid. And it wasn't like he just smacked him on the helmet
Starting point is 00:40:09 or it was a little rough. No, he punched him like you would punch your enemy. Like it wasn't no, come on, you got to do better. No, he punched him like I'm mad with you. And if I, it was almost like homie did Nate, Nate Robinson. Like he punched him that hard, right? The kid got back up and then he went back over there and hit the kid again.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Hit the kid again. Who's the kid's daddy? Who's the kid's uncle? Okay? I need to talk to them. They need to be doing more push-ups because there's no way in hell that grown-ass man was able to put his hands on that child. You know, that's under nine youth football teams, and the kid was like eight years old. Come on, bro.
Starting point is 00:40:44 Yes. Where's the daddy? Where's the uncle? Where's the mom? Where's the other brothers? That ain't even related to the little boy, but just see something like that happen. You're supposed to step to Jarrell Williams
Starting point is 00:40:54 and check him immediately. He should have gotten mushed just like he mushed that little boy. But not even that. None of the other parents, you know, was like, oh, yo, yo, what you doing? Like, I figured some of the other parents that would be there. Like, LeBron James posted it and was like, you know, if I was there, yo, yo, what you doing? Like, I figured some of the other parents that would be there.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Like, LeBron James posted it and was like, you know, if I was there, if that was my son, we'd have a problem. And he said, even if it wasn't my son, we'd still have a problem. By the way, we don't know if that happened, though. And I literally just thought about that just now because that's a viral video. We only saw 15, 20 seconds. We don't know what happened after that. Nah, bro, because if they jumped over that fence
Starting point is 00:41:26 and whooped his ass, the guy would still be taping it. Let's be honest. He would still be taping. That don't mean they had to jump over the fence. They might have caught him after the game or something. I don't know what happened. I'm just saying we don't know. Right, well, he did apologize halfway, kind of, almost.
Starting point is 00:41:41 But let's hear the apology. I'm going to apologize for my actions about what took place. But at the end of the day, I am a man, and I'm not going to make no excuses for what I did. I was wrong. I shouldn't have disciplined him in public. I should have waited until he got back. I'm doing what he did. At the end of the day, I apologize to him, the kids, the city, down here, and my family back at home.
Starting point is 00:41:59 I do apologize. There's no excuse for my actions, you know. He forgave me, and his parents have forgiven me. So nobody else should be bashing me. Thank you. No, that's not true. He didn't apologize. He said, I shouldn't have did it in public.
Starting point is 00:42:12 No, you shouldn't have did it at all. You shouldn't have did it at all. And you know you're dealing with a guy who has a bunch of unhealed trauma in him. He got a bunch of hurt in him because there's no way you so easily did that to a kid that's under nine years old at a youth football game there's nothing that young man did on that field that warranted that nothing you could have yelled at him you could have screamed at him anything but the way you put your hands on that little man you should feel ashamed of yourself this morning my brother absolutely all right well
Starting point is 00:42:40 that is your front page news now when we come back come back, we're going to talk to Monica. Now, Monica is Young Chanel's mother. Her real name is Lyric. Now, Young Chanel is a young lady that she's been all over Instagram recently. I know Cardi B posted about her. She's always with Trader Truth, Little Duval, DJ E-Feezy. And they're doing a fundraiser for her this Sunday. Now, she was originally from Atlanta, a young, cute, pretty girl.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Everything was fine. You see videos of her early on her Instagram and things are fine. And then she developed a tumor on her brain. She had four or five surgeries and they're trying to get it right. She talks about the process of them going to hospital to hospital. At first, they basically said nothing it right. She talks about the process of them going to hospital to hospital. At first, they, you know, they basically said nothing was wrong. She had headaches.
Starting point is 00:43:31 And now she's at a point where she's at like a fourth or fifth surgery. They're trying different procedures to make sure she's okay. And the story is heartbreaking. So we're going to talk to her next. She's going to break everything down. And we're just asking on Sunday, we're going to do a um kind of like a block party on her instagram live and we're going to raise money to help the family so she could get more surgeries more procedures and just helping out they moved from houston i mean from atlanta to houston they've been living in hotels because they got to be close to the hospital and they just don't
Starting point is 00:43:59 have it and we always talk about helping each other and this is the time where we have to help what now what's what's this the phrase that Killer Mike says? I can't remember. If all of us do a little, none of us got to do a lot. There you go. So we're going to talk to her when we come back. So don't move. The story is touching, and if you have kids,
Starting point is 00:44:16 you really want to hear this, all right? It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. What's up, y'all? This is Ms. Pat. Congratulations to The Breakfast Club on 10 years, and I got to give a big shout-out to Charlamagne for giving black people hope on that pretty-ass skin
Starting point is 00:44:30 he be rockin' every day. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, last week, I told you about a young girl who was originally from Atlanta that had to move out to Houston because she had to go through some cancer treatment
Starting point is 00:44:50 and I tell you that shout out to DJ E-Feezy. He called me one day and said I really want to help. I want to put on this whole kind of a day where we raise money like a platform because the young girl likes to dance, likes to sing and he asked would I help and be involved so I, of course.
Starting point is 00:45:05 He told me the story, and I said absolutely positively. And now we have her mom on the line right now. Good morning, Monica. How are you doing? Good morning, Monica. Good morning. So now this story meant a lot to especially me and Charlamagne because Charlamagne has three daughters. I have three daughters.
Starting point is 00:45:20 I have five kids. So for people that don't know, explain the story and explain what's going on. Well, Larry gets dealing with a grade three anaplastic appendomoma and grade three stage three. That's the highest. And she was diagnosed with that from the beginning. So when I first found out about it, Larry kept having headaches. But, you know, you don't take a kid to the emergency room for a headache. But she kept explaining when her head hurt, her neck hurt, her back hurts.
Starting point is 00:45:51 And, you know, I explained this to her doctor. They kept sending us away with some Zofran. And eventually it got worse to where the child couldn't see. And took her to the ER, and they just kept turning us away. And a lot of parents with brain tumors, they get turned away. And when you Google brain tumor symptoms, everything that Lyric was describing comes up.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Really? From the beginning, asking for MRI. And it's like, oh, it's not that serious. Well, after they kept running tests on her, trying this drug, trying this, eventually they got her to be able to, you know, get out of bed, keep energy down and keep her food down. So, you know, I'm thinking we're going back home. Now I'm calling my mom.
Starting point is 00:46:41 I'll be back to work. And when they took the medication away from her, the IV away from her, she began to throw up again. So it's like, you know what, before you go home, I'm going to get an MRI. Now I'm home, you know, getting things together. And then all of a sudden I get a phone call like she's not okay. She has a mask on her brain. And, you know, the doctors are always nonchalant about everything. And when they tell you they need to operate, it's like we need to operate right away.
Starting point is 00:47:08 So you don't get the time to think about the doctor's experience, you know, the reviews. You don't have time to think about that. You're just in shock that your child's skull has to be cut open. Right. You know, how do I explain this to her and things like that? And this was what age? This was at 11. 11.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Wow. You know, after she had the surgery and she was released from the hospital, I'm thinking that that's it. Like, that's over with. And it was in January when they called me and was like, it's cancer. Dang. So my daughter said to me, if my mom is crying, which I try not to let her see me cry,
Starting point is 00:47:50 if my mom is crying, then it means it's something serious. So she began to cry. And when I told her she had cancer, it was just like a shock to her, you know. And she cried. And I tried to get her over this fear and to do fear exercise with her she said the one thing she was worried about is is not being cancer so immediately after the surgery they wanted me to do chemo radiation with her and i'm listening to everyone that experienced chemo radiation was like no don't put her through that don't put her through that and then I'm hearing the doctor side saying if
Starting point is 00:48:28 you do not put her through the chemo radiation your daughter will die you know so I chose to go and I turned to route and deal with um homeopathic doctor I would get up at five in the morning you know preparing raw vegetables for this kid and for a child 11 years old to get up at five in the morning, you know, preparing raw vegetables for this kid. And for a child, 11 years old, to get up in the morning to have to feed her raw vegetables and a half a grapefruit and walnuts, like, and water. That's a lot. Yeah. Like, what kid wants to eat like that? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:49:02 She did it, and she didn't complain about it. You know, she took the medicine, but maybe I probably should have pulled her out of school at that time to monitor her eating habits. Because when she would go to school, that's when she would indulge
Starting point is 00:49:16 in other stuff at school. Damn. So, on March 30th, I took her back to the ER. And a couple days before that, she's like, Mom, I don't want to go back to school. I'm like, was someone teasing you?
Starting point is 00:49:27 And she's like, no. But she's like, I don't want to be tempted to eat anything that I'm not supposed to eat. I noticed that she started throwing up her food again. I take her back to the ER. And they tell me that the tumor has grown and is bleeding now. Oh, my gosh. And, you know, Lyric is crying. You know, she's like, I'm so stupid.
Starting point is 00:49:43 I shouldn't have did this. I shouldn't have ate that stuff. Mom, you wasted so much money on this, this, my gosh. And, you know, as Lyric talking, she just, her head just ended up dropping. And I'm like, Lyric, because my daughter pranks a lot. I'm like, Lyric. And I looked at the monitor and it said zero. And we got a nurse. I was like, I think she stopped breathing. And she had coded. So they had to intubate her and everything.
Starting point is 00:50:18 But they also told me if I don't do chemo or radiation, there's no point of them doing another surgery. So I said, okay, I'll come on board with doing chemo radiation. It was a difficult time at that time. Lyric heart rate got down into the 20s. Blood pressure got up to the 200s. You know, doctors are running with her because they don't know what's going on. They had to do drainage, you know, where they put the catheters on each side of the brain to get the fluid off. So she went through a second surgery around April 7th. And again, I'm thinking like, okay, after this surgery, you know, we have to do chemo and she put it through,
Starting point is 00:50:55 they put it through two rounds of chemo. And when I took her in there for chemo, she was complaining about her head hurting. So they had to do um you know the operation to give her her port they did the operation did that incorrect something went wrong so they had to take her again and do another operation to fix that port okay at the same time she keeps complaining about head pains and they keep giving her morphine it seemed like they was just trying to rush this chemo in her and every time she wakes up she
Starting point is 00:51:26 complained about head and they give her morphine so at this point i'm like getting i'm getting frustrated because i feel like you just pacifying the problem i've given her this morphine right and i'm like can you see what's going on well kind of fell out with the nurse behind this so they switched out a nurse so about six o'clock in the morning lyric coded because no one's taking the time out to look to see why this kid keep complaining about a headache so they had to stop the chemo and they took her she had to get a surgery where they put a shot on her brain because the fluid was building up on the brain and that's why lyric was having this headache so after that in june 2019 we found out that the chemo did not work they told me that she was gonna need to have another surgery this will put her at
Starting point is 00:52:14 um surgery number three so at this time you know um i told him i said well can she enjoy her birthday first you know her birthday's fourth of july You know, I took her to California, let her see family there and things like that. And on her birthday, her attitude was so bad. I'd never seen her act like that before. You know, she was crying. She was just all over the place. But she cried out to me, and she was like, you know, I've got to have surgery, and I don't think I'm going to make it.
Starting point is 00:52:43 You know, I might die. And, you know, it's hard to hear your kid talk like that. After her party, when I took her home, she didn't too much complain to me, but she told her dad, you know, my head hurts. The following morning, she ended up throwing up. I took her to the ER, and they told me the ventricles were swelling. We gave her some steroids, and they felt comfortable with her going home. So when she had that surgery July 10th um she came back they called me at 6 p.m told me I can come back and when I get there I'm like waiting around I didn't get to see the doctor until around eight
Starting point is 00:53:17 and so they telling me Lyric doesn't want to wake up from the anesthesia and um but the surgery went fine so it wasn't until 10 p.m 10 15 p.m I was able to get to the back to see Lyric and you know she was just shivering and um she was comprehensive I heard the monitor the following morning keep hearing the monitor go off so I asked the nurse and said come come check on her you know monitor was going off quite some time and the nurse sounded to be a little irritable so I went down the foot of the bed and I looked at Lyric and her face was blue her lips was blue and all of a sudden another nurse comes in and they began to shake Lyric's chest you know wake up Lyric wake up and they hit cold blue so they
Starting point is 00:53:58 went ahead and intubated her you know whole team rushed in and it's like an hour later, she cold blew again. And, you know, the doctors, they bring me into this little room and tell me that she wasn't going to make it, that the tumor was taken over, winning the race and things like that. So at that time, I just walked out the meeting, and I just cried. And I just sat outside for a while and looked to the sky. I'm like, I can't lose my daughter. All right, we have more with Monica when we come back. Don't move.
Starting point is 00:54:28 It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Monica. Monica has a young daughter named Lyric. On Instagram, it's Young Chanel.
Starting point is 00:54:44 And she has a story. So let's get back into it. Charlamagne? So Monica, the doctors told you that Lyric's not going to make it. Let's hear more. So the following morning, I woke up. I didn't know what I was going to run into, you know, turning that corner, but it was quiet. You know, the doctors told me another surgery would take her out. But then a week later or so, the doctor comes back and tells me, oh, maybe we could do another surgery on her and wake her up. And I'm like, no, I'm not doing another surgery. At this time, her lyrics head felt like a water sack in the back.
Starting point is 00:55:17 She probably was on a ventilator for about two weeks. But I knew that there was some type of brain functioning there. I knew she was going to be okay because when I take her ring off, she could put the ring back on. And the only thing she could move was that left hand. Lyric ended up suffering from a stroke when I was old. How old is she at this time? She's still 11 or she's older?
Starting point is 00:55:38 12. 12, okay. Told me she was suffering from a stroke. They didn't think she was going to make it to radiation. So at this point, you know, when they put a feeding tube in her, yeah, I'm paying attention, you know, how they inject their medication. So as a mom, I'm going to do everything for my daughter as well, you know. So I would inject herbs into her feeding tube.
Starting point is 00:56:02 I know I'm not supposed to do that, but you know, I'm fighting with my daughter. And finally, when the tube came out, I began to, you know, give Lyric little tiny ice chips, which they tell me not to give her anything by mouth. But I could see that she was dehydrated. And so seeing her like chew on a little tiny ice chips was like the biggest thing to me and um the therapy I mean it took a lot of therapy to get her back you know she wasn't talking she lost her vision she couldn't walk it was like a infant I wasn't sure if my daughter's gonna ever be able to walk again or talk you know when therapy wasn't in the room I was working her out myself stretching her legs you know just constantly talking to her playing music for her. And her first words, I had whispered in her ear to tell her I love her.
Starting point is 00:56:48 And, you know, she just took a deep breath, was like, I love you too, Mom, you know. And from there, she just started back talking. After that road, she did radiation for six weeks. Her tumor stayed stable for like a little over a year and it's like you're not worried you know the child is almost running again you know she's walking on the treadmill like two hours at a time you know she's happy I felt comfortable I started she started experiencing seizures and I take her to the ER again in August and they tell me that her tumor has a slight growth. And I'm like, here we go again with this.
Starting point is 00:57:31 The team in Atlanta, they always are so very nonchalant about everything. And when they told me that she's going to have to have surgery again, I was like, oh, I can't let this surgeon, the same surgeon operating on her again. I was like, oh, I can't let this surgeon, the same surgeon, operate on her again. So I began to research doctors that experienced with ependymomas, and I found Dr. David Sandberg because he has a clinical trial here in Houston. So I immediately rushed Lyric scans over to him. He looked over her scans, and he contacted me back and told me that she's not eligible to go into clinical trial because of where her tumor is located.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Most kids' tumors are located in the back. However, hers is located in the top of the pineal region of the brainstem. I immediately brought Lyric to Houston. When Dr. Sandberg got her, he was very worried. He was like, your daughter has a massive tumor. After doing the surgery, you know, he came out. It was like a 13-hour surgery. But he said on the stage 1 to 10, that tumor was like a 20.
Starting point is 00:58:35 So, you know, he got that tumor out, and he recommended me to get treatment right away. So we got her into MD Anderson. She started doing a immunotherapy treatment and she did probably about three or four appointments with that. And on the week of Thanksgiving, Monday, I noticed her legs was like a little weak. On Wednesday is the day she have treatment. And I told the guy, the doctor, I said, you know, her legs are feeling kind of weak. And he was like, well, do you think she guy, the doctor, I said, you know, her legs are feeling kind of weak. And he was like, well, do you think she's fatigued? I said, no, I don't think it's fatigue.
Starting point is 00:59:09 She's her legs are weak. So they approved her to go ahead and get treatment. She got treatment. And then on Thursday, you know, she was able to stand tall in the shower. You know, she stayed up straight. I sat there in a chair like, let's take pictures. And she ended up leaning over and fell out the chair. I couldn't, when I went to pick her up, it was like dead weight. And Thanksgiving Day, she could not move those legs. Like she could not stand. It hurt her to stand.
Starting point is 00:59:37 And I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm here at this hotel by myself. You know, how am I going to get through this? The following day, it was a little better she was able to stand but she couldn't she couldn't move and her legs was in pain the seizures she ended up having four seizures the following day i took her to the er and that's when i got the news that um the tumor has grown back dramatically the immunodrug chemo drug whatever is not working they have nothing else to offer her and they don't want to put her through another surgery i don't know what it is i don't know what lyric may be
Starting point is 01:00:11 feeling because she doesn't really express that part of the brain with her being expressive but you know she told me mom i don't want to d because i told her don't say die and i just keep just talking to her you know know, we pray together. And it's a scary situation. You know, the very following day, after I'm hearing what these doctors are saying, there's nothing else they can do. And then the very following day,
Starting point is 01:00:35 you got hospice coming in with oxygen tanks, with morphine medicine. And it's like, it had me feeling like she's about to go any day now you know? Where is she now? She's sleeping right now. Okay. In the hotel or hospital? We're at the hotel. Alright we have more with Monica when we come back
Starting point is 01:00:54 don't move it's The Breakfast Club good morning everybody it's DJ Envy Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy we are The Breakfast Club we're still kicking it with Monica Monica has a young daughter named Lyric. On Instagram is Young Chanel. And she has a story.
Starting point is 01:01:09 So let's get back into it. So what's the next steps? Is there another doctor? Is there another surgery? What's next? So TI contacted me before all of this news. And he reached out to Dr. Seian's grandson Isaiah Bowman and Isaiah started sending herbs down however I didn't know I thought feeding Lyric on a vegan diet you know as long as there's no soy
Starting point is 01:01:35 you know she's drinking plenty of water I'm thinking I'm doing the right I'm feeding her correctly apparently not so he came down last week and he got her on a detox, a detox, blood purifier, some other herbs. And they did a meal prep for her, juicing her in raw food, like raw vegetables. The very next day after taking his herbs and stuff like that, I was so impressed Lyric was able to start taking steps. I want to say the day before yesterday, she did 20 minutes on the treadmill. Wow.
Starting point is 01:02:12 So it feels like at this point, we just got to continue to do that in good old-fashioned prayer. Yeah. Prayer. You know, and I'm a little worried. You know, last night she went to bed. You know, like I said, this kid never complains.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Even if she have a headache, she won't complain. I sometimes see her grabbing her head or something like that. And I'm like, Lear, do you have a headache? And she's like, no. And I think she... Mom, Lear wants you, and you're out here. Can you get Lauren, tell Lauren to get her for me real quick, please? Lauren, please.
Starting point is 01:02:42 Wake her up. If you got to go, we understand. Yeah. If you got to go, we understand. Yeah, if you got to go, we understand. We understand if you have to go. Yeah, I got her oldest sister taking care of her right now. But, you know, last night I was just, like, worried because of the headaches. You know, she was experiencing pain last night. But I just stay hopeful at this time, you know?
Starting point is 01:03:02 Well, we're coming together this Sunday. Like we said, E-Feezy hit me, and I said absolutely positively, so we help him put it together. And we're just trying to raise as much money as possible. I know it's hard for you because you had to move out of Atlanta to come here. You've been living in hotels. And I know part of the goal, I know E-Feezy wanted to make sure that you weren't in a hotel for Christmas.
Starting point is 01:03:23 He wanted to make sure that at least, even if it was an Airbnb, that you guys were comfortable. And we just want to make sure that the community is there to support you. So this Sunday, we're going to be doing a huge party on her actual page, which is Young Chanel, which is Y-H-U-N-G dot C-H-A-N-E-L underscore. And every DJ damn near will be doing it. Me, E-Feezy, Kid Capri, shout out to Mr. Rogers, Camillo, Ace, Mark the Spot, Spin King, Infamous, Steph Cakes, Cash, JQ, RIA, and Double J. So we're doing it for her. Deshaun Watson, who plays, who's the quarterback for the Houston Rockets. Texans. Texans.
Starting point is 01:04:04 I said Rockets. Houston Texans. He's going to be donating something big, which he's the quarterback for the Houston Rockets. Texans. Texans. I said Rockets. Houston Texans. He's going to be donating something big, which he's going to be announcing today, tomorrow. And we just want to say that, you know, we're with you. We're praying for you. And we're going to try to help as much as possible. I appreciate it. And what's the, is there, is there like a website, a GoFundMe that people can donate to now, even before, even before Sunday?
Starting point is 01:04:22 There is a GoFundMe. It's attached to lyrics. Yeah. My bio. Yeah, my bio. Yeah, I'm going to donate some money too. And more importantly, I'm going to be praying for you, Monica, and Lyric. I hate when I hear things like this because I just don't even know what we can do other than lean on our higher power. Right.
Starting point is 01:04:39 Thank you so much for getting up. I know it's early today in Texas. And it's a scary, scary situation because i was just saying i haven't found one one person to survive an anaplastic appendectoma wow and that's that's real sad that's that's sad you know that not enough research is going into like pediatric brain tumors. Like it's sad. Maybe lyric story will help raise awareness to that. Absolutely. And hopefully it's a change and we will continue to support.
Starting point is 01:05:14 And, you know, we want you to continue to check in and let us know how she's doing. And this Sunday we're trying to raise as much money as possible to make sure that you guys are straight and she's okay. And give them the go for me again. Let me see if people can donate. Give them the goFundMe again. Give them the GoFundMe again. You can go to her page, which is Young Chanel, which is
Starting point is 01:05:31 YH, let me go to it, YHUNG dot C-H-A-N-E-L underscore. Her GoFundMe is on the link. You can click the GoFundMe and please donate. We're going to be pushing it. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:05:46 Thank you so much for checking in this morning. Thank you, Monica. Prayers up for you. Sending you healing energy to you and Lyric. Thank you, Sky, so much. All righty now. Give our love. Take care.
Starting point is 01:05:57 All right. Listen up. It's just in. All the gossip. Gossip. The Rumor Report. Gossip. Gossip.
Starting point is 01:06:04 With Angela Yee. It's the Rumor Report. The Breakfast Club. Well, Bill Cosby is back on Twitter, and he tweeted some things out yesterday. Yesterday, he said on this 10th day of December 2020, I want to pay homage to those who have supported me and my family simply by saying thank you. The first person to be recognized on Thank You Thursday is rapper Boosie. Thank you for your support, and I'm praying for you to have a speedy recovery and for your mobility to be restored. Again, thank you so much. You my Nick.
Starting point is 01:06:39 He didn't say that. What's so interesting about that, you know, back in the day when Bill Cosby gave that whole speech about, you know, pulling your pants up and, you know, how black men should carry themselves, you know, the whole respectability politics conversation. Boosie is the type of person that Bill would have been talking about. Even now. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:06:58 Absolutely. You know, I just found that interesting. That's all. Also, Ben and Jerry's ice cream. They create a Colin Kaepernick-inspired ice cream flavor. All right. Now, Ben & Jerry's unveiled its new Change the World vegan ice cream, which is made with caramel, non-dairy sunflower butter,
Starting point is 01:07:15 and fudge chips with graham crackers and chocolate cookies swirls. They want to celebrate Kaepernick's courageous work to confront systemic oppression and to stop police violence against black and brown people so it actually has a picture of Colin Kaepernick on the ice cream well I saw that it's non-dairy too
Starting point is 01:07:36 because if it wasn't non-dairy I'd be upset because I'm lactose intolerant alright being lactose intolerant is a form of brutality all to itself alright not being able to eat dairy. But the money goes to all the proceeds go to something, too, right? Yeah, it all goes to a good cause. I'm not sure of the cause. I'm sure it's Colin Kaepernick's Know Your Rights organization. Yes, it does. Yep. Sales will be used to support the work of his Know Your Rights organization,
Starting point is 01:07:59 which teaches black and brown children about how to deal with police interactions. Hey, man, nothing wrong with using capitalism to fuel the revolution. Now, Ellen DeGeneres, she tests positive for COVID-19. So her talk show production will be halted until January. She said, hi, everyone. I want to let you know that I tested positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, I'm feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified,
Starting point is 01:08:26 and I'm following all proper CDC guidelines. I'll see you all again after the holidays. Please stay safe and healthy. Hmm. Okay. You know what? I want to go back to the Colin Kaepernick thing, because I'm thinking about this. I would like to see Colin Kaepernick talk more. I feel like he only speaks to people. see Colin Kaepernick talk more. He doesn't talk much at all.
Starting point is 01:08:46 I only feel like he speaks to people when he's pushing a product. You know what I mean? If it's sneakers or ice cream, something like that, then you hear from Colin. I know he puts his money where his mouth is a lot of times, but I still feel like when you've been put in that position as a leader, you have
Starting point is 01:09:01 a greater responsibility. He's been the symbol of the revolution for a while now. You know, I just would like to see him. I'd like to see him speak more. I'd like to see him be on the front lines more than when he's just pushing a product. That's all. And lastly, we got to say congratulations to a couple of people. Cassie.
Starting point is 01:09:20 Yes, Cassie is pregnant with her second child. That's with her husband, Alex Fine. So they posted a picture. So congratulations to them. And also Christina Milian, her and her boyfriend, Matt Pecora. I don't know who that is. Welcome their baby, Isaiah, their first child together on January 20 of this year. So congratulations to her as well.
Starting point is 01:09:42 She's expecting child number three. I'll drop on the clues bombs for both of those young ladies and their families. I wonder how Diddy feels when he sees Cassie pregnant and happy. I just wonder. Sad. Shut up, Drum. Nobody asked you something. Okay? I have a simple
Starting point is 01:10:01 question that I would like for Diddy to answer and here you go with your ad-libs. I didn't realize my mic was on. That's my fault. You didn't realize? You thought that was in your inner voice? I'm talking to myself here in the studio. You got to feel this and you got to feel the weight.
Starting point is 01:10:14 I'm going to be honest with you. I saw Cassie post that picture. And then I saw Diddy on a boat looking at a sunset shipping tequila. I was like, boy. I don't know. I mean, I was just putting two and two together, but I could be wrong because it's social media, so I'm sure Diddy has a million other things on his mind.
Starting point is 01:10:30 Well, congratulations to them, and I'm sure Diddy is okay. All right, now that is your rumor report. Now, Solomon, who are you giving that down to? Four after the hour. We need Gerald Williams to come to the front of the congregation. We'd like to have a word with him. He is the football coach who put his hands on that young football player who
Starting point is 01:10:47 was under the age of nine. And since today is Friday and I go to therapy every Friday at three, or today's three 15, usually three 30, but we need to talk about unhealed trauma. Let's have a conversation this morning, people. All right, we'll get to that next. So keep it locked. It's the breakfast club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:11:05 This don't be a duncey because right now you want some real donkeys. It's time for Donkey of the Day. So if you ever feel I need to be a donkey, man, hit me with the heel. Did she get donkey in the name, please, Debbie? Absolutely. I have become donkey of the day. It's The Breakfast Club, bitches. You're a donkey.
Starting point is 01:11:23 Yes, Donkey of the Day for Friday, December 11th. Last live Donkey of 2020 goes to a former Savannah youth football coach named Gerald Williams. Salute to everybody in Savannah who listens to us on 94.1 The Beat. Drop on the clues bombs for Savannah, man. Beautiful city. I was actually thinking about Savannah a couple days ago because December 9th, I believe December 9th was the late rapper Camouflage's born day. Y'all remember the rapper Camouflage?
Starting point is 01:11:49 You remember Camouflage, Envy? He had that record, Cut Turns, back in the day. He was tragically murdered back in 03. He was outside of Pure Pain Studios with his 16-month-old son. He was shot and killed with his son in his arms. He was only 21 years old. So rest in peace to Camouflage, Pure Pain Records. Drop on the clues box for Pure Pain Records.
Starting point is 01:12:06 I always think about what the rap scene in Savannah would have turned out to be if Camouflage had lived. But back to Donkey of the Day, Gerald Williams. Okay, look, a lot of donkeys have been dark this year. This year was a dark year filled with a lot of death, a lot of sickness, a lot of grief, a lot of pain, a lot of trauma. People
Starting point is 01:12:21 are going through it. Alright, there's people out here suffering. They got all types of emotional and mental issues going on inside of them. And sadly, a lot of those folks take that out on other people. Now, I'm not making excuses for anyone who exhibits the type of toxic behavior that hurts others because as a human, it's your job to deal with your BS. Whatever you got going on in your head and your heart that's causing you to, you know, be not only self-destructive, but destructive to others, you got to fix. There's no excuses. Okay. Until you go do that work on yourself
Starting point is 01:12:50 to deal with your unhealed trauma, ain't no good going to come to you. And that's why Gerald Williams is receiving today's donkey of the day. Now, maybe you've seen this online. Maybe you've seen LeBron James post about this. Maybe you heard us talking about it in front page news this morning, but Gerald Williams is the youth football coach who can be seen on this video putting his hands on somebody's son that he coaches. Now, in the video, Gerald Williams appears to hit one of his players twice in the helmet. Now, keep in mind, these kids are under nine years old, and Gerald, big grown ass, hit this little boy twice for no damn legitimate reason.
Starting point is 01:13:24 He knocked the kid to the ground, screamed at him, and then shoved the kid's head, pushing him off the field. Let's go to WTOC CBS 11 for the news report, please. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office confirmed that after consulting with the state attorney, they will pursue charges against Jarrell Williams, the man who was a youth football coach here in Savannah. The Savannah Gators U9 team was playing in Florida this week when the incident took place. In the video, Williams appears to hit one of the players twice in the head and it knocks him to the ground.
Starting point is 01:13:53 The incident report says Williams was screaming at the child. The AYF says that his actions were, quote, wholly inconsistent with the fundamental value of youth sports, which at its core is an opportunity for adult leaders to be role models for our nation's youth, and that he had been banned from all AYF events in the future. Ben Fatula said that the coaches do have a background check each year, but he thinks more should be done to educate and train coaches.
Starting point is 01:14:19 Williams was also a counselor in the Chatham County Detention Center. Sheriff John Wilter tells us that he was given the choice between resigning and being fired on Thursday, and Williams chose to resign. A counselor, huh? Well, sometimes counselors need counseling. All right? Sometimes counselors need counseling. We got to establish the village again.
Starting point is 01:14:37 We're very tribal nowadays, so folks only deal with their immediate circles. We have to get back to being a village because instead of taping folks to post online to talk about them, we need to be checking folks and talking to them directly. Now, I'm still a work in progress, my damn self. I always say I'm the perfect balance of ratchetness and righteousness. The righteous side of me knows
Starting point is 01:14:56 and wants Gerald Williams to get some professional help. This brother needs therapy. Point blank, period, full stop. Clearly this dude has a bunch of unhealed trauma in him that he needs to deal with, okay? He needs mental, emotional, and spiritual counseling, his damn self, okay? All that is true because Gerald is not mad at that little boy.
Starting point is 01:15:15 He's mad at himself. For what, I don't know, but there's something there, all right? A lot of unhealed trauma. But even with all that, I believe Gerald needs his ass whipped, okay? Where is Jake Paul when you need him? All right, street fights are great, but no, put some boxing gloves on him and put him in the ring with a grown man, and I'll bet you see Gerald get manhandled the same way he manhandled
Starting point is 01:15:35 that under-nine-year-old boy. Now, Gerald did give a half-assed apology. Let's listen. I'm going to apologize for my actions about what took place. But at the end of the day, I am a man, and I'm not going to make no excuses for what I did. I was wrong. I shouldn't have disciplined him in public.
Starting point is 01:15:50 I should have waited until he got back to doing what he did. At the end of the day, I apologize to him, the kids, the city, down here, and my family back there. I do apologize. There's no excuse for my actions, you know. He forgave me, and his parents have forgiven me. So nobody else should be bashing me. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:16:05 That's not true. We shall bash you. Okay. But we were destroyed to build. All right. That's what you do. This is why you don't apologize under pressure. He apologized because he lost his job.
Starting point is 01:16:15 He apologized because he's facing charges. He didn't apologize because he truly has remorse. He apologized because he got in trouble because he doesn't, he doesn't even see the error in his ways. He thinks people are upset because he did it in public. said it verbatim i shouldn't have done it in public no fool you shouldn't have put hands on the little boy at all all right there is no excuse for the abuse i've watched lean on me a million times and i thought joe clark had controversial and unconventional ways of discipline but you make joe clark look like mr miyagi joe clark walked
Starting point is 01:16:43 around with a baseball bat but I never saw him use it. You ever seen Joe Clark use that baseball bat? I haven't. Now, we have some live footage. Me neither. I haven't. Now, we have some live footage from one of Gerald Williams' huddles. Let's listen.
Starting point is 01:16:55 I don't want winners out on the field. Who's a winner? I said, who's a winner? I am. Everyone's hand should be up. I am. Okay, everyone bring it in. Who are we?
Starting point is 01:17:05 Tigers. What? Tigers. All right, let's break someone's clavicle on three. One, two, three. Break someone's clavicle. Let's go. This is insane, all right?
Starting point is 01:17:17 And I'm glad this brother is banned from coaching for life, but I'm serious. I want this brother to get some help. It's a cycle of trauma that clearly needs to be broken, all right? Someone did that to him when he was a child, so he's traumatized. So he went and traumatized somebody else's child. I saw my sister, Angela Rye. Drop on the clues box for Angela Rye.
Starting point is 01:17:32 Love my sister. I saw her post this yesterday via the good brother, Winston Duke. And I'm going to post it later on my IG because it is a word. Okay? And the word is seeing unhealthy patterns in your family and deciding that those patterns in which you and, and will not be passed down to future generations is an extremely brave and powerful decision. Gerald Williams, what choice are you going to make, sir? Are you going to be brave and get some help for your toxic ways? Or will you continue to be a self-sabotaging coward who passes his trauma
Starting point is 01:18:05 on to others as opposed to healing what's hurting you you have a choice and a great coach named john wooden once said there is a choice you have to make in everything you do so keep in mind that in the end the choice you make makes you what kind of man do you want to be moving forward, Gerald Williams? Please let Remy Ma give this former youth football coach, Gerald Williams, the biggest hee-haw. Hee-haw, hee-haw. You stupid mother******, you dumb. All right.
Starting point is 01:18:38 Well-deserved. Well-deserved. All right, well, thank you for that donkey of the day. Now, up next, DJ Shock. Now, a lot of you don't know who DJ Shock is, so break it down right fast. DJ Shock is from South Carolina. You know, he's a partner of mine. Been running with him for a long time.
Starting point is 01:18:56 I think I met Shock like in 2002. You know what I mean? He's a DJ in Columbia, South Carolina. Was in the strip clubs and the clubs. Now he works at a school in Columbia, South Carolina In the strip clubs, in the clubs Now he works at a school In Columbia, South Carolina But you know that lifestyle of DJing can catch up to you That lifestyle of being a radio personality can catch up to you
Starting point is 01:19:12 You know when you're not eating right When you're not getting enough sleep You're not going to the doctor And it's caught up to my man DJ Shock And DJ Shock needs a kidney transplant So I want him to come on this morning And tell his story And I don't know, maybe
Starting point is 01:19:25 just maybe we can get him some help. Alright. So we'll get into that when we come back. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. You're checking out the world's most dangerous morning show. Morning everybody it's DJ Envy
Starting point is 01:19:43 Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We got a special guest on the line right now. Yes, indeed. DJ Shock. What up, brother? What's happening, fellas? Good morning.
Starting point is 01:19:52 Good morning. Shock is my longtime homie, man, from South Carolina. And he hit me up the other day. I didn't even know that he was having these health issues that he's having. But Shock, tell him what's going on with you. So, yeah, I'm in stage 5 kidney failure. Basically, having high blood pressure for a long time has caused my kidneys to fail. So, I'm not able to be able to do regular functions like that anymore.
Starting point is 01:20:23 So, with the help of dialysis or whatever, which I'm on right now, with the help of dialysis, I'm able to feel better. But the ultimate goal is just to find someone to donate a kidney to me. And Shaq, you're not even old. No, I'm 40. I just turned 48 on July. So what was it? Was it the kidney failure first or the high blood pressure? What was it? The high blood pressure came first,
Starting point is 01:20:45 but it was something that I really didn't know I was going through. I was working a lot, DJing a lot, so I figured with the headaches I was just tired and just needed to get some sleep. So I, like, take a nap, drink some water or something. I wake up and I feel fine. I just didn't know at the time that that was the main reason that was going on with me.
Starting point is 01:21:01 It was basically my blood pressure was, like, through the roof. It was, like, in the tubes. So you weren't going to the doctor? I had no idea. No. As a black man, something that I knew I needed to be doing, but no, I wasn't going to the doctor. And I plead to every black man right now who's watching this, who's hearing this, at their earliest, start seeing a physician.
Starting point is 01:21:22 That way you can catch things early. So when did you realize it was it was kidney failure what what got you to the doctor what got you was it so bad it was like damn i gotta go today um well it it was a regular day man i was just at the house chilling watching tv and and waiting because at the time i had to pick my mama from work so i was waiting for her to get off work and i was just chilling watching tv and all of a sudden my heart just started pumping like it's great like it's going to jump out my chest so I got scared I thought I was having a heart attack so I called the ambulance and um the ambulance came and they took me in and they
Starting point is 01:21:54 watched me to the emergency room and stuff and they said well you you're you're fine and I'm like I don't think so you know my heart is like going crazy so they put me on the machine and yes my high blood pressure was well my blood pressure was in the twos at the top. Like 180 at the bottom, which is crazy. So the doctors gave me some fluid, wanted me to just calm down. He came in and said, how long did you have kidney problems? And I looked, I said, not that I know of. You know, and he was like, well, your kidneys are in pretty bad shape.
Starting point is 01:22:26 Like, the kidneys are supposed to be in like 100, 120%. And at that time, August 2nd, 2018, my kidneys were at 15% function. Damn. But what exactly is kidney failure? I mean, we hear that often. You know what I mean? I know even the good brother Scarface recently is going through the same thing. What exactly is kidney failure?
Starting point is 01:22:45 Yeah, shout out to Scarface. Shout out to Freeway. He just got his kidney a while back. Basically, kidney failure is just, you know, the kidneys act as filters in your body, and they filter out all the bad stuff in your blood. Because we build up toxins every day through the foods we eat, through the drinks we drink. So what the kidneys do is filter all that stuff out and turns it into urine or feces. So that function goes down.
Starting point is 01:23:11 So we're not able to get that fluid off our bodies a lot. And did you have blood in your urine? Were you fatigued? Was there swelling in your hands or your feet? Was any of that stuff there that they usually see? Yeah, I was fatigued. It got to the point, because I work at a high school here in South Carolina. I work at AC Florida High School.
Starting point is 01:23:28 AC Florida, what's happening? I was walking up some steps, and I felt like I was just out of breath. And there's steps I go up every day. So I was fatigued. My legs started swelling. And I really didn't know. I thought, because I'm on my feet all the time, I thought I was just, you know, my legs were swelling because I'm on my feet all the time, I thought I was just, you know, my legs were swelling because I'm on my feet all the time.
Starting point is 01:23:46 Didn't understand at the time that that was the calling sign for my kidneys failing. Because that happened probably two or three months before I even went to the hospital. So for you, what contributed to all of this is just great lifestyle. Because, you know, Shock, like I said, me and Shock go back to when I was doing radio on Hot 1039 in Columbia. Shock was DJing then. So just the lifestyle of being a DJ over the past 20 years? Yeah, man, that late-night eating, not really cooking, not paying attention to the salt that you intake in your body
Starting point is 01:24:17 because our bodies naturally produce salt. So we don't actually need to put salt on our food because your body produces it already. So just that, and I had horrible eating habits. Man, I remember just times getting like two Whoppers at lunch and then two Whoppers at dinner. Like I was eating terrible. A lot of greasy foods, just not drinking the water like I was supposed to. But around 2015, 2016, I woke up one day and I was like, I just don't want to eat no more
Starting point is 01:24:46 fried food. So I haven't been eating fried foods that cut down on a lot of red meat. Drink gallons and gallons and gallons of water. Which now I can't do because I have to watch my fluid intake. I can only have 16 fluid ounces a day. Damn.
Starting point is 01:25:01 That would cause health risk. Health problems. You can't get dehydrated because the body needs fluids. It needs the water to stay hydrated. So with me just having 16 ounces a day, I just take like small sips here and there. Like when I go to the center, usually they want you at a certain weight so that way the machine don't pull too much off of you because that machine tugs at you and it tugs at your heart.
Starting point is 01:25:31 So you don't want the dialysis machine to tug at your heart so bad where it tears your heart up. So you have to keep the fluid off of you in order for that machine to run naturally. Wow. But it's crazy, man. It's crazy. It's a lot that we have to do. We have to watch our eating because, you know, just eat a salad.
Starting point is 01:25:53 Salad has a lot of water in it. So that adds on to your fluid. Eating like pasta. Pasta has water in the pasta. So that adds on to your fluid. I guess things that you really got to watch out for. So it's eight ounces of water total. So that includes salad, pasta, and all that. So that adds up to your fluid. I guess things that you really have to watch out for. So it's eight ounces of water total. So that includes salad, pasta, and all that.
Starting point is 01:26:08 Yeah. And there's so many people who are going through this. I see people each and every day at the center. And, you know, we talk to each other, we pray for each other, and we just try to get through this
Starting point is 01:26:16 the best way we can. So I thank you guys for allowing me to be in this space so that way I can ask someone, anyone to be a lifesaver for me, become an organ donor and donate a kidney. All right, we got more with DJ Shock. When we come back, don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with DJ Shock. Now,
Starting point is 01:26:42 Charlamagne. So, Shock, my brother, what do we got to do to get you a transplant? There's a list. It's over 100,000 people. And the list grows each and every day because there's so many of our people, black and brown, beautiful people, who need to do more with their eating habits. And we wait until it's too late, and then all of a sudden our kidneys fail, and we're in this predicament. I'm active on two lists.
Starting point is 01:27:04 I'm active on two lists. I'm active on a list at MUSC in Charleston, and I'm active on a list in Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia, a list that I'm trying to get on as we speak. I reached out to Sean, and I was like, you know, maybe someone out here in the radio world would like to donate. And for me being diagnosed in 2018, I really hadn't said anything until this year what's your blood type shock be positive be positive but um the technology is different now so the um the blood types don't even matter anymore really
Starting point is 01:27:39 what what happens is they would like say for instance if you were or mv1 to say that you wanted to donate, what they'll do is they'll take my blood and they'll mix it with your blood to see if they get a positive reaction. If it's a positive reaction, then yes, you can donate. But if it's a negative reaction, then you won't donate. So how can people help, man? Like if they wanted to donate a kidney or anything, I'll help you skip the list. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:28:01 I don't know how that works. But how can people help you? They can reach out to me on my social media. That's DJShock803. That's spelled D-J-S-H-O-K-803. They can hit me up anytime on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. My name on Facebook is Delvon Harling, D-E-L-V-O-N-H-A-R-L-I-N-G. Hit me up anytime in my inbox, and I can certainly give you the information to either Charleston or Augusta.
Starting point is 01:28:28 And what would happen is you would give them a call. They would give you a preliminary little workup form to just get a short health history on that person. And then from there, if everything checks out, then they will send you a heart monitor to wear for about 24 hours just to just engage your heart activity and if that all goes well there was they will send you um a blood packet to go to the lab core wherever you live wherever you live in the nation they will send you to that lab core and then you'll get worked up and then after that we would set a surgery schedule
Starting point is 01:29:06 and we'll go in together we're going at the same time they will remove the kidney from the donor and put it right in me because the kidney can't be out in more than 30 minutes after 30 minutes it'll start to decay oh um the reason i ask people to donate to my gofundme is because i have to pay for the well well basically for for the person who wants to donate, all of the expenses comes out of my insurance. You don't pay a dime. So you mean like the surgery? The surgery. Travel.
Starting point is 01:29:35 The travel, the hotel afterwards because they would like for us to stay in Charleston or Augusta for a week. We can have just to keep up with how well the surgery site is healing and see doctors and Cash App is dollar sign DJSHOK. What's the goal for me? Yeah, the link is on my Instagram. It's right there in the bio. So if you pull up
Starting point is 01:30:00 my Instagram, DJSHOK803, the link is right there in the bio. Hold on, let me see. Let me pull it up. I know you're looking my Instagram, DJSHOK803, the link is right there in the bio. Hold on, let me see. Let me pull it up. I know you're looking for it, right? Would you take Charlemagne's or you know his been through so much? Like that's just one I pass on. I would give.
Starting point is 01:30:15 I would give Chaka kidney. I just don't know how mine are. You know Charlemagne. Yeah, I know him. I know him for a lot shorter time than you do, and I've seen what his kidney's been through. So I'm just saying, would you take his? Because I wouldn't take it.
Starting point is 01:30:29 I'd be like, nah, I'll pass on that one. At this time, I would take anyone's kidney just to be able to be back to where I want to be 100%. To be honest, I mean, I feel great right now talking to you guys, but I know once I get a kidney, I feel 100 times more greater. Okay. Yeah, I'm looking at the GoFundMe. It looks like it's GoFundMe.com backslash save slash shock.
Starting point is 01:30:53 I don't know how to read. We know that. Save shock's life. Yeah, yeah. Save shock's life. I mean, you got a goal of 10,000. You almost there. I'm about to throw something in there right now,
Starting point is 01:31:04 but you're probably going to have to i'm gonna throw something in there right now but you're probably gonna have to increase that after the day but um yeah man support my dude dj shock anybody out there that you know wants to donate a kidney or if you're an i don't know somebody that just passed away and their organ donor i don't know how any of this works uh i just would like to see my man get get get a kidney transplant, man. Yeah, exactly. I definitely would appreciate it. Like I said, I got a lot of just gumption to do this from watching Scarface story, from watching Freeway story. Shout out to my nurses and doctors who's been egging me for forever just to share my story because I kept it in for so long
Starting point is 01:31:48 because I kind of felt embarrassed. I thought that I let a lot of people down just by my eating habits and stuff. But since then, man, like that water you drinking right now, man, I miss doing that, bro. I used to have like three, four of those a day. I shouldn't have even did that in front of you. Oh man, it's all good. You don't got an email shot? You don't got an email people can hit you up at?
Starting point is 01:32:11 Yeah, I got an email. It's SHOKMP3s at Gmail. Once again, that's SHOKMP3s at Gmail. And if you niggas send my man music instead of goddamn sending him anything about this kidney, we gonna fight. I probably would get a ton of music. And just know he's not a Cowboys fan, so he's good on this side. Nah, I'm Green Bay Packer for life.
Starting point is 01:32:36 Aaron Rodgers my guy. All right. Shock, thank you, my brother, man. I'm gonna be checking in with you, but I appreciate you, man. I'm praying for you, and I know something good gonna come of this. Hey, I pray so, my brother. I thank you, but I appreciate you, man. I'm praying for you, and I know something good is going to come of this. Hey, I pray so, my brother.
Starting point is 01:32:47 I thank you so much for this opportunity, man. Thank Mr. Fennell, too, for putting this together. And I want to thank everyone who's been supporting me for the past two years. Yeah, Eddie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I want to thank everybody who's been supporting me for years. I thank my clinic, Midtown Clinic here in Columbia, South Carolina, Meadowlake Clinic, Columbia Home Clinic,
Starting point is 01:33:10 and a bunch of people who I talk to each and every day who I send support to and they send support to me because it's a bunch of people just in the Columbia area alone that I've learned that's going through the same thing I'm going through. So hats off to y'all. Keep your heads up. We're praying for you. I'm praying for you. And we're going to live. We're going to be an area alone that I've learned that's going through the same thing I'm going through. So hats off to y'all. Keep your heads up. We're praying for you. I'm praying for you.
Starting point is 01:33:28 And we're going to live. We're going to get through this. That's right, brother. Shocked. Thank you, King. Appreciate you, Kings. Peace. Bye, brother.
Starting point is 01:33:33 Bye. Peace. Happy 10-year. 10-year. Wow. 10-year. Charlamagne, Angela Yee, Envy, you guys have been nothing but the best, the dopest. I appreciate you guys for holding it down for so many years.
Starting point is 01:33:48 Congrats on the Big Ten. Not many get there. I'm glad that you guys have and I can't wait to see you guys at the number 20. Love y'all. Peace. The Breakfast Club. Morning everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne the guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk new music.
Starting point is 01:34:09 This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee. Now, today is New Music Fridays, and a lot of people are dropping some new music. We'll start off with Kid Cudi. Man on the Moon 3, The Chosen. It's an 18-track album. Features pop, smoke, trippy, red, and more. And let's play a clip for the people out there. Show up, show up. See us pull up, pull up.
Starting point is 01:34:36 Back out, pull up. Got them running, running up. Big damn, roll up. Roll the font over here, right. Big damn, roll up. We are supreme, just see what I mean. Me and the team, running up, hitting up, roll up. Roll the font, don't get right. Make them roll up. We are supreme, just see what I mean. Me and the team, running up, hitting up, sending up, get them on impact. Pull up our scene, have them all looking, we stunting, no, can I forget that?
Starting point is 01:34:54 Gather round, I love the real domain. Look in the mirror, see who you are. All of this evil that's in my way, I pray to God, we're over arms. That was called Show Out. Yeah, I definitely got to check out Kid C Cuddy's Man on the Moon 3. Kiddy ain't put out a project in a long time. I think the last thing he put out was, I guess, the Kid C. Ghost project with Kanye.
Starting point is 01:35:12 Kanye, yeah. Which I enjoyed. I enjoyed it more for Cuddy than Ye. So I'm definitely going to be checking out Man on the Moon 3. Okay. Now, also, Jack Harlow, he dropped his debut project. It features Lil Baby, Chris Brown Lil Wayne
Starting point is 01:35:28 And more And let's play a clip off that big bars you just at a bureau hometown hero tell them at a mural on the face of my city cosigned by diddy hard liquor i'm hotel somebody gotta do in my bidding you changed no kidding wasn't always this pretty pretty i'm the man in my city yeah can't with me book back 350 cash got my hand on my blicky my swag on dance for First come, then I'm paying the bills. Bums, they got nowhere to live. Ain't chasing nothing but me, some M. Yo, I dig the young man, Jack Harlow. And Jack Harlow is one of those new artists
Starting point is 01:36:13 who wants to do the Breakfast Club in person. We actually had Jack Harlow on Zoom this week. I ain't like it. I don't like meeting people through Zoom. You know what I mean? And I think he deserves a better look than that. Sleuth My Man DJ Drama. So Jack Harlow, we're going to have Jack Harlow in studio.
Starting point is 01:36:31 Yeah, so he dropped the project. So you can definitely pick that up. I believe Kamiya dropped a new project called No Explanations today. And also Fetty Wap. You know the vibes. That all came out today as well. Now, Charlamagne, you should be excited. Marvel released on their Instagram
Starting point is 01:36:46 all the new projects that are going to be coming out next year. Are you excited about that? Oh, let's talk about it. Yesterday, I was glued to Marvel's IG page, okay? I am so glad I have Disney+. The only reason I ordered Disney+, is because of all the Marvel TV shows that they had coming out.
Starting point is 01:37:01 But nowadays, in my house, Disney+, is all Cher, Callie, and Bluey. My kids love Bluey. Your kids watch Bluey? Yep. We watch so much Bluey that I walk around the house screaming, Mom! Dad! Bingo! Bluey! Some of the titles are Captain Marvel 2,
Starting point is 01:37:16 She-Hulk. Come on now, Captain Marvel 2, Fantastic Four movie, they're doing a Moon Knight TV show, a Secret Invasion TV show, She-Hulk, as you just said. They put the trailers out for Falcon and Winter Soldier. Why did you just go home, Dramos? What if? Secret Invasion?
Starting point is 01:37:32 What do you mean? That don't sound like a real movie. That sounds like an adult film where the girls never show up. All right, shut up. All right, WandaVision is a TV show. Loki is a TV show. And I'm going to tell you something. They're doing an Ironheart TV show if you don't know who Ironheart is her name is Riri Williams from
Starting point is 01:37:50 Chicago she's a young black princess who is Tony Stark's protege man Disney plus drop on a close bond for Disney plus y'all was cooking before but this is what I subscribe to you for I am happy yes okay oh okay am I supposed to be that excited as well I mean it depends how secret you like for I Am Happy. Yes. Okay. Oh, okay. Am I supposed to be that excited as well? I mean, it depends how secret you like your invasions. My goodness. And lastly, we reported yesterday that Tiffany Haddish, that the Grammys reached out to her to host an event,
Starting point is 01:38:17 but they had no money. They wasn't going to pay for nothing. They didn't want to pay for hair, makeup, wardrobe, or nada. So Tiffany Haddish said, hell no. Well, they responded with an apology. Let's hear it. Unfortunately, and without me knowing, a talent booker working for the Academy told Ms. Haddish that we wouldn't even cover her costs while she hosted this event for us. To me, that was wrong. I'm frustrated by that decision. And it was disrespectful. Thankfully, Ms. Haddish was gracious enough to allow me to have a conversation with her. I apologize to her personally, and I apologize to her from the academy.
Starting point is 01:38:53 I express her my regret and my displeasure about how this went down and how it was handled. As they should apologize, okay? And the reason they should apologize is the same reason the whole industry should apologize. Every single industry needs to stop playing with people, especially black people. The days of us just being happy to be in the room are over. Deal with us fairly or don't deal with us at all. And I respect Tiffany for not agreeing to do it. That's the thing about business negotiations. You know, you don't have to agree to things that you don't want to do. If you know something isn't fair, don't do it. And then don't do something that you know isn't fair and then complain about it later.
Starting point is 01:39:29 We all at the age and wage that we don't have to do anything we don't want to do. Absolutely. Well, and that is you. Hold on. I want to say folks be trying Tiffany, like they be trying to give Tiffany flack. You know, oh, she's a coon. She's this, she's that. But I'm telling you, I've seen her deal with these corporate white folks,
Starting point is 01:39:46 and she don't be bending for them at all. She fights for black people. I've seen it. So when people wonder why I ride hard for certain folks like Tiffany, it's because I see how hard they ride for us where it matters, which is in them offices, them boardrooms. Absolutely. All right.
Starting point is 01:40:02 Well, that is your rumor report. Now, up next, we've got the People's Choice Mix. You know well that is your rumor report. Now up next, we got the People's Choice Mix, you know, Fridays we throw back, but you know, the last couple of Fridays, let's play some holiday music, man. Hip-hop, we make holiday music too, whether it's Run DMC, whether it's Summer Walker, whether it's... What about Outkast Players Ball?
Starting point is 01:40:18 Outkast Players Ball? Definitely want to hear Little Duval Christmas Trees with Queen Monica, but Outkast Players Ball is a Christmas record. That's a holiday record. We ran together in Columbia, and also shout out to dj shock who checked in today go to my brother dj shock man dj shock is from south carolina but we we ran together in columbia south carolina back in the day and you know the reason i'm happy that dj shock told his story is because it's a story that happens too often for black men right like you know we don't take care of ourselves we don't go to the doctor you know we don't eat right and that lifestyle catches up to you so now my man dj
Starting point is 01:41:42 shock needs a kidney transplant because of all those years of djing and those late nights early mornings you know eating late not eating good and he needs a kidney transplant so you know i'm gonna hit him up in a few hit him up later just to see you know what his email is looking like what the response has been but i really hope the brother you know finds the kidney because he's a really good dude all right well when we come back we got the positive notes so don't move it's the breakfast club good morning it's time to get up out of here. Starting point is 01:42:46 It's called Schultz Saves America. So check that out, all right? Now, the positive note is simply this. You can't be committed to your BS and your growth. I repeat, you can't be committed to your BS and your growth. It's one or the other. Choose wisely. Breakfast call, bitches.
