What up, y'all?
It's your boy, Kevin on stage.
I want to tell you about my new podcast called Not My Best Moment,
where I talk to artists, athletes, entertainers, creators, friends,
people I admire who had massive success about their massive failures.
What did they mess up on?
What is their heartbreak?
And what did they learn from you?
I got judged, oh, horribly.
The judges were like, you're trash.
I don't know how you got on the show.
Check out Not My Best Moment with me kept on stage on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm a homeguard that knows a little bit about everything and everybody.
You know if you don't lie about that, right?
Lauren came in hot.
Back on the ground.
Hey, y'all, what's up?
It's Lauren the Rosa, and this is the latest with,
Lauren the Rosa. This is your daily dig on all things, pop culture, entertainment news,
and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Now, today, hopping right on into
the latest, because I got some teetails for y'all. Okay, so it's like details, but it's giving
the tea, because I'm about to really take y'all on into this story. So today, there was a story
that broke. There was some documents that were filed. Giselle Bryant and Robin Dixon
of the reasonably shady podcast. You guys know they are our podcast, because
which means they are also a podcast here on the Black Effect Network are being accused of
harassment by Eminem by rapper Eminem. Y'all are probably like, wait what? For anybody who doesn't
know the background of the story, hearing Eminem and Real Housewives of any sort in the same sentence
is like, how did we even get here? Don't worry y'all. I got you. So listen, Giselle Bryant
and Robin Dixon created their podcast some years ago. They created their podcast back in
In February, I'm sorry, they created their podcast back in May of 2021.
When they created the podcast, reasonably shady.
And if you guys watch their show, you understand that, of course, the title of the podcast is a playoff of how they get into things and topics and, you know, just their personalities and what they're known for on the Real Housewives of Atlanta or, you know, formerly Real Housewives of Atlanta.
because Robin is alum
Giselle is still actively on the show
but yeah I mean
it fits never in a million years
when I first saw that they launched this podcast
what I think that Eminem would be like
hold on wait what
uh uh uh that shady that's all mine
but it happened and I remember when this story broke
because what happened was so they launched a podcast
in May of 2021 they then went on to file
a trademark trademark trademark
application for the name reasonably shady in February following the date that they launched.
Now, when they went to go and file this trademark, M&M opposed the trademark application in February
of 2023.
And when he opposed it, he argued that his brand would be damaged if the ladies obtained
the trademark because of the things that they would be talking about.
And he alleged, you know, there's that thing that people always do when they try and
push back on a trademark application where they talk about, you know,
people being confused and the consumers would be confused and he says consumers who have known him
by Slim Shady or Shady since the 90s would be confused he says he also owns the trademark for Shady
for merchandise use so he's arguing and he's pushing back right now that following month after so
the month after March March 2023 after Eminem pushback joselle brian
and Robin Dixon's attorney gave a statement to some outlets and he said
Robin Dixon and Giselle Bryant denied any likelihood of confusion between M&M's
trademarks and their reasonably shady podcast trademark.
We are prepared to defend any allegations against them regarding their intellectual
property.
All right.
So that is the background on how we got here.
Now, there's been some back and forth since this.
This has been ongoing since 2023 at this point.
There were conversations about depositions.
I know that Robin and Giselle were deposed by Eminem's attorneys.
But this has been, I mean, in my opinion, this has been the greatest publicity for their podcast that anyone could ask for.
I mean, their podcast makes headlines.
We talked about them literally this week in a previous episode where they talked about Kaye Michelle potentially joining the Real House of Atlanta.
And Kay Michelle then responded to that.
and that picked up everywhere right but of course these are women who have a huge audience because of
the platform of you know housewives that they were on for as long as you know for as long as
a lot of people can remember potomac uh so you know it's not like they need the reach of the publicity
moment but it's a good one you're going to make one so in the headlines today m&m says that
they're harassing him because after they were deposed jazelle brian and robin dixon
Now it's Eminem's turn to be deposed.
They're asking for Eminem to be deposed by their attorneys.
So his attorneys and their attorneys are going back and forth,
or they have been going back and forth.
They're trying to figure out when he's going to be deposed.
Originally, they had agreed to October 29th of this year for the deposition for Eminem.
And then things went Haywire.
They couldn't agree on the time.
You know, Giselle and Robin felt like,
Giselle and Robin felt like, you know, because Eminem's attorney,
I basically said, look, y'all went 11.
A.m. Eastern Standard Time.
He's asking for 2 p.m.
It's very hard to get Eminem to sit down for a deposition.
Take him when you can get them, is my advice to you.
But if we need to...
And he also said, can we make sure that it's, you know, less than two hours?
Because we made sure you guys deposition was less than two hours.
But we'll stay as late as you need.
They took that as...
Basically, like, you better be lucky.
We even sitting down for this deposition.
Like, do you know who this is?
This is Eminem, girl.
Okay?
Y'all better be lucky.
We even giving y'all the time.
give you all take take it or leave it and they're saying no that's not fair that's not how these things
work so i reached out to jazelle um and i i called her on the way here into the podcast and i'm like
listen and when i called her she was like hello because when i called people because there's people
are so used to me calling being like hey such and such is happening what's going on you got a statement
you know she was a little bit apprehensive at first when i called her but me and her know each other
we did a few black effect events together uh but she was just more so
like, what did I do, Lauren? Like, why are you calling? But I asked her she would speak to you guys,
our lowriders, just about what's going on. So y'all can hear right from her, because Eminem is
accusing them of harassment. So I'm like, who better to speak than those in question, uh, Giselle
Bryant or Robin Dixon? So let's give Giselle a call. She knows we're calling.
A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers. But it wasn't
until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there hidden in plain sight. So why did
it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island
serial killer, the investigation into the most notorious killer in New York, since the son of
Sam, available now. Listen for free on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your

Hey, just finished drawing up that quick one-page business plan for you.
Here's the link.
But there was no link. There was no business plan.
It's not his fault. I hadn't programmed Kyle to be able to do that yet.
My name is Evan Ratliff. I decided to create Kyle, my AI co-founder, after hearing a lot of stuff like this from OpenAI CEO Sam Aldman.
There's this betting pool for the first year that there's a one-person billion dollar company,
which would have been like unimaginable without AI and now will happen.
I got to thinking, could I be that one person?
I'd made AI agents before for my award-winning podcast, Shell Game.
This season on Shell Game, I'm trying to build a real company with a real product run by fake people.
Oh, hey, Evan. Good to have you join us.
I found some really interesting data on adoption rates for AI agents and small to medium businesses.

Hey there, Dr. Jesse Mills here.
I'm the director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health,

And I'm Jordan, the show's producer.
And like a lot of guys, I haven't been to the doctor in many years.
I'll be asking the questions we probably should be asking, but aren't.
Because guys usually don't go to the doctor unless a piece of their face is hanging off
or they've broken a bone.
Depends which bone.
Well, that's true.
Every week, we're breaking down the unique world of men's health,
from testosterone and fitness to diets and fertility,
and things that happen in the bedroom.
You mean sleep?
Yeah, something like that, Jordan.
We'll talk science without the jargon
and get you real answers to the stuff you actually wonder about.
It's going to be fun, whether you're 27, 97, or somewhere in between.
Men's Health is about more than six packs and supplements.
It's about energy, confidence, and connection.
We don't just want you to live longer.
We want you to live better.

boo somebody had tomatoes
I'm kidding
but if they had tomatoes
they would have thrown the tomatoes
let's be honest
we've all had those moments
we'd rather forget
we bumped our head
we made a mistake
the deal fell through
we're embarrassed
we failed
but this podcast is about that
and how we made it through
so when they sat me down
they were kind of like
we got into the small talk
and they were just like so what do you got
what ideas and I was like oh no
what
check out not my best moment with me

Hi, I'm Dr. Priyank Wally.
And I'm Hurricane DeBolu.

You'll hear us being completely honest about her own health.
I'm talking about very serious stuff right now, and you're laughing at me.
And you'll hear candid advice and personal stories from experts who want to make health care more human.
Sometimes you're there to listen, to understand,
To empathize, maybe to give them an understanding or a name for what's going on, that helps people a lot, understanding that it's not just in their head.
We are breaking down the science, talking with experts, and sharing practical health tips you can actually use in your day-to-day life.
From when to utilize and avoid artificial light to how to sleep better.
Everything you need to know about fiber and how to poop better.
How to minimize the effects of jet lag and how to stay hopeful in times of distress.
We human beings, all we want is connection.
We just want to connect with each other.
We want to make health less confusing and maybe even a little fun.

Hi.
Hey.
Hi.
Okay, so we're taping.
So you're on the podcast now, the latest with Lauren the Rosa.
You're here with my audience.
I called them The Lowriders, and they are going to be so excited to hear from you.
Great.
can't wait. Well, okay, so I just gave them some background on everything that has been happening
to catch him up, you know, from the time you guys created the podcast to filing for the
trademark and Eminem's team pushing back on the trademark and, you know, talking about this
would confuse the audience and it would damage his brand. But today, the story broke via
Us Weekly and Page 6 that Eminem is accusing you guys of harassment because there was a
disagreement or not even a disagreement, but there was no agreement.
to be reached on a time of the deposition that he's supposed to sit down on? Right. So, back story,
his attorneys deposed Robin and I separately. Right. And in doing that, they asked for the day,
the complete day. And, you know, when we finished is when we finished. But they asked for the
complete day, and that is what we gave them. And in turn, that is what we're asking for from him. He could
only come up with a two o'clock start time of the day and that's just like not sufficient so we're
not harassing the mayor we're just asking for what we were asked to do which was give the
seven hours in the day a nine to five situation so um he finally came up with i think a day that
he could sit i think at two o'clock and and my attorney told his attorney that
she works until five that is when she's done and because they they said that well they said hey we can
find people to work after hours to you know if if him and him were to go after hours in the deposition
we can find people to to work you know after hours and my attorney rightly so said look I don't
work after hours so no that's not going to work and it's not unreasonable to ask for
nine, ten o'clock start time.
Right.
Especially when he said no, he wasn't going to be deposed for like a year.
So we had to depose his manager, Paul Rosenberg, which we did.
And then finally Pat and Tray said, no, you know, if Marshall Mathers is the person that is listed, that is opposing our trademark, then he should be deposed.
So we're not harassing him.
We would just like for this to be done in the same.
frame that was done
to me and Robert. So his attorneys
mentioned that
there was also something
mentioned in the docs about you back and forth
where his attorney said, oh,
is there a way that, okay, so here's a
time, and I know you guys opposed to time, but
also they had asked if the
deposition could be two hours or less
because that's what they, that's
the amount of time they took with you guys, but you're saying
that you guys gave them a full day.
We gave them a, they
asked for a full day, and
And so I took a full day off of my time.
Like, I cleared my day for the deposition.
It just so happened that his attorneys didn't have any more questions to ask
after we told them that, no, we did not start, name our podcast reasonably shady, after M&L.
So, like, there's nothing more to discuss.
Yeah.
My lawyer's position is like, look, she doesn't know, is he going to talk slow,
is he going to have to take a million bathroom breaks
is he going to answer the question adequately
so it is standard
just to clear your schedule for the day
and give a seven
hours
and then there's the you know
kind of like the take it or leave it
I know you guys kind of felt like when they changed
when they suggested what they suggested about the time
as far as he's busy
if this is the time you can get him
we suggest that you do it
there was like a oh we feel like you know they're saying we'll take it or leave it and that's not fair
how does like so what is the patent and trademark office saying to you guys after you guys of course
are opposing all of these things and they're kind of seeing you know how this is playing out
where the availability you know from what you're saying is it being made the same way like
have you heard from the patent and trademark office yet so it is with them now but but my position
on that is to take it or leave it is crazy to me because that's not how we did business with them
they asked for specific days we gave it to them and for eminem to say he's so busy
Lauren I have seven jobs I'm busy too so but I cleared my schedule and so did
robin for this for this whole situation and the take it to leave it is even more crazy
when he filed the petition we were minding our business he is coming up against us
so we think that if you're going to come up against our patent our trademark you're
you would find the time to be deposed.
Very true.
Very true.
At no point did he, like him or his manager, you know, Rosenberg, like, they never just
reached out and said, let's find like a happy medium here.
Like this, to me, it's kind of like the, it's a very far stretch between the two worlds.
I, I, not kind of, kind of.
Yes.
We've been offered something that's not reasonable.
Okay, monetary.
Okay.
I, my position is, we've gone this far.
This is, I don't know, we're in year two of this nonsense.
We're going to go to the end of the road.
But everything is now with patent trade and they are going to come back with, I guess, their findings or their rulings or whatever.
When you guys were offered, like, when they tried to offer, I guess, like, kind of almost like a settlement type of thing, like a, is it?
I don't want to say that.
No, I don't want to say that they offer the settlement.
I want to say that there was some language of.
kind of like a happy medium, so to speak.
Okay.
And it, I wasn't happy and it wasn't medium.
Are you able to tell us what that hit?
Wait, first of all, you get on my nerd.
I wasn't happy and it wasn't medium.
Are you able to give us any, like, what that was?
Was it that you guys couldn't do the podcast or shady would have to be removed?
Like, are you able to give us anything on, like, what it was that they actually asked,
without telling us what they offered?
I don't think legally I can say that.
Okay.
So, so, but I will tell you when this is all over for sure.
Okay, got you.
And then my final question is, uh, there, the Eminem's attorney gave a statement to an outlet
and he says, or no, this is actually from the document.
I'm sorry, I read that wrong.
In the document, they say refusal to cooperate and assistance on filing a motion over
three hours, start time difference, prove that their pursuit of this deposition is designed
to harass.
Any response to that statement?
Totally.
that's a stretch and if if it is designed to harass then I will say his lawyers harassed me
because again I cleared my schedule for the day because that is what his attorney asked up
us so you can't ask me and Robin two very busy black women to do something that Eminem can and
will not do.
Got it.
Well, thank you.
And, I mean, we love reasonably shady.
So I hope y'all figure this out, because I don't know what else to call y'all.
Like, I really, I was sitting here thinking, I'm like, well, what else would they be?
Like, because it is very, you know, in the opening of this podcast, before I called you, I said, it's very, it's so on brand for y'all with your personalities, the way y'all cover the topics.
Y'all talk about, your persona's on the show.
It's, you know, the shade is there.
but y'all can be reasonable so where else do you go from here it's like i just don't know what i i don't
know anyone that listens to the podcast that knows about robin and i that listens to reason to be shady
that thought about m&m in any capacity so this is not an issue like the patent trademark of it all
it's like no one thinks about m&m no one thinks about slim shady and quite frankly he didn't stole shady
from the black community anyway so you know i don't even understand why we have
have gone down this road but we're going to be reasonably shady law and don't you worry okay
okay well thank you so much enjoy your thanksgiving i know you're probably in the kitchen
getting ready to cook i'm about to head on home and starting to do the same myself i appreciate
you for tapping on in with the latest i really appreciate you all right thank you all right
all righty bye well guys you have it right here i don't know what's going to happen basically but
And whatever happens next, you guys will hear it right here first on the latest with Lauren
the Rosa because at the end of the day, there's always a lot to talk about.
But my lowriders, I tell you every episode, I am appreciative that you guys decide to be right
here with me.
It is my job, my due diligence, and I'm honestly starting to believe it is my calling to
being these people's business, okay, to bring you updates first, foremost, but also
make sure you know what is going on lately, because this is the latest.
I'll catch you guys in my next episode. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.
