Starting point is 00:02:03 DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. The Breakfast Club, bitches! Break the f*** out! Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front-page news. Where we starting, Yee?
Starting point is 00:02:21 Well, right now with coronavirus, there are more than 34,000 cases of people who have tested positive in the United States. And so far, at least 254,000 Americans have been tested. Right now, they are saying that there is going to be the federal government activating the U.S. National Guard in three states. That's California, Washington, and New York. Listen to Donald Trump. The federal government has deployed hundreds of tons of supplies from our national stockpile to locations with the greatest need. In order to assist in those areas, I approved the state of New York's request for a major disaster declaration. The request from the state of Washington for a major disaster declaration was approved.
Starting point is 00:03:03 The request from the state of California was just received, and we will have it approved very quickly. Almost half of all the cases in the United States are in New York State, so that is what they are calling the epicenter of the outbreak in the United States. At least eight states have now issued stay-at-home orders. That's in California, New York, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey, Louisiana, Connecticut and Delaware. Philly has also announced a stay at home order as well. So there are some more testing locations and there are emergency hospitals and medical supplies and all of that.
Starting point is 00:03:38 And New York and Washington in particular, Donald Trump has set up these emergency hospitals and supplies as well. Your mic was sounding a little bit crazy. Now, the one thing that's happening is in California, the beaches are still packed, even though there is a shelter in place order and people were still doing things like going hiking on the trails and all of that so the governor is now warning people to not convene in other places and they are going to be closing down all the la city parks recreations and sports and all of that he said people should heed these closures and stay home we also now have a new tool in the united states to help with the demand for coronavirus testing it's an online bot named clara. And what Clara does is not diagnose you, but it helps you decide whether or not
Starting point is 00:04:28 you need to seek appropriate medical care. So they ask a series of questions to establish how sick you are and the illnesses that you're experiencing. And then they can determine whether or not you need to be getting tested or you need to be seeking more care. They're also saying if they have a loss of taste or a loss of smell,
Starting point is 00:04:47 that could also be crucial symptoms of coronavirus. There could be some warning signs and hidden carriers of coronavirus. So if you are experiencing one of those, they're saying you might be a carrier and therefore you should self-quarantine. All right, I'm Angela Yee, and that is your Front Page News. All right, thank you, Ms. Yee. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:05:07 If you need to vent, hit us up right now. Maybe you had a horrible weekend, or maybe you feel blessed. Maybe this is great. You're spending time with your family. You're enjoying your kids. You're enjoying your wife, your husband. Call us right now, 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy.
Starting point is 00:05:39 There's 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tribe owned country.
Starting point is 00:05:55 My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh, my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets.
Starting point is 00:06:09 We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs,
Starting point is 00:06:39 the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run run high is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves.
Starting point is 00:07:49 For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself.
Starting point is 00:08:12 You're trying your best and you're gonna figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. This is your time to get it off your chest, whether you're mad or blessed. You better have the same energy. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.

Starting point is 00:09:52 Got a lot going on at work. Got legal problems. But everything's going to be all right by the end of the day. Got to keep your head up. Keep moving forward. There you go. It could be worse. You could have the coronavirus, sir.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Yes, yes. Thank you, Charlamagne. That's right. But we all got to get through it. We got to come together. It don't matter about we don't got no choice. Everybody got to come together and be as one. Get this shit out the way. Get this stuff out of the way.
Starting point is 00:10:17 That is very true. This is something that impacts us all. Keep your head up, bro. So I'm assuming y'all can hear me now. Yeah, we can hear you now. Hello, who's this? Hi, this is Courtney Renee. How are you? Hey, Courtney Renee. Get it off your chest, mama. Well, I don't have anything on my
Starting point is 00:10:34 chest. I just wanted to really wish my sister Brittany Marche a happy 29th birthday. Happy birthday. All right. Well, happy birthday to her. She can't go nowhere to celebrate. What y'all doing? No, we already turned up all weekend. She can't go nowhere to celebrate. What y'all doing? No, we already turned up all weekend. We had a couple of house parties with all our family and friends.
Starting point is 00:10:51 You know, everybody was going. Wow. Sanitizers and light bulbs. No social distancing. No, no social distancing. Y'all supposed to be six feet away from each other. Shame on y'all. I know, but you know, in South Carolina, Sal Solomon, you already know. Yeah, it ain't that
Starting point is 00:11:05 from what I've been hearing, it hasn't really impacted South Carolina in that way yet. No, it still hasn't. We are located right there by Savannah, Georgia, so we really haven't had any, I think we only had one case in the whole state. Y'all good then. Stay home anyway.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Y'all not good. Just be, stay home anyway just in case. Y'all know who got it. It could be not a lot of testing going on, too. Yep, and it could be nobody showing symptoms. So be safe out there. Please get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now.
Starting point is 00:11:36 It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Wake up, wake up. Wake your ass up. This is your time to get it off your chest whether you're mad or blessed we want to hear from you on the breakfast club hello who's this what's up bro get it off your chest yeah man so i live in the state of georgia in this country down here my algae's always killing me every year. And now I'm trying to figure out, am I dying from coronavirus?
Starting point is 00:12:06 Or is it just my algae? Every day, I got to figure this out. Story of my life for the last two weeks. I'm a firefighter at EMT, so we got to deal with this, you know, coronavirus. And I got to come home to my two-year-old kid, just trying to make sure I don't spread this, you know, this mess to my kid. So there's a lot going on down here, man. How y'all doing? Bless Black and Holly favorite.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Dealing with the same thing. I get allergies this time of year too, my brother. So when you got that cough for a week or so, it's a bad time to have it right now. Yeah, it's a bad time. You sneeze, you cough. Like I said, I walk around with the thermometer just testing everybody to make sure everybody's okay in this house. I just want to make sure we good.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Now they're saying if you lose your sense of smell or taste, that could be an indication. I was like, this food doesn't taste the same as it normally does. I don't think they know. I think everybody's just guessing. I read that this weekend, too. I'm like, when did that become a symptom? I think people are just guessing.
Starting point is 00:12:57 I don't think people truly know. I saw the 12-year-old girl in Atlanta who caught it. Yeah. You don't know how she caught it. She didn't travel nowhere. No pre-existing conditions. Hello, who's this? Good morning.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Good morning. Good morning, guys. My name is Chris. What's up, Chris? I'm Chris New York. How you doing, guys? I just want to say I'm blessed today. I'm working.
Starting point is 00:13:20 I do sanitation for a living. Kind of dead on the streets. Listen, we need your help too. I am so glad that you guys are still working. We take for granted certain things that we have in conveniences. You know, being able to know that sanitation is still working because you guys are very necessary for us at this time. So we appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Yeah, man. I've been doing it about six years. I can't complain, man. I want to give a big shout out to all the other fellow sanitation workers out there working these streets. It's not easy for us. I'm taking some trash out to the curb today, sir. Thank you so much, brother.
Starting point is 00:13:54 We appreciate you, man. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, you can hit us up at any time. Now, we got rumors on the way here. Yes, and we'll break down club quarantine and some of the highlights of what happened with that over the weekend with DJ D Nice. And he definitely was making the most out of a bad situation. Also, we'll talk about somebody whose wife got coronavirus as well. And she wanted to make sure it happened because she's married.
Starting point is 00:14:19 She's ready to die. All right. We'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Listen up. It's just in. All the gossip. Gossip. The rumor report. Gossip.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Angela. Angela Yee. It's the rumor report. The Breakfast Club. Yes, Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for coronavirus. New York City has the nation's largest jailhouse outbreak of coronavirus. At least 38 inmates, including at Rikers, have tested positive for coronavirus. New York City has the nation's largest jailhouse outbreak of coronavirus. At least 38 inmates, including at Rikers, have tested positive. So right now they're saying that he is incredibly at risk
Starting point is 00:14:54 just because of how frail he is and everything. Harvey's been in there for a little minute. I wonder how he got coronavirus. Did he come in contact with maybe a CO or an officer who had it or somebody new to the jail? He's been back and forth from the hospital, remember? Oh, true. That's very true. Yep, he's been
Starting point is 00:15:11 hospitalized a couple different times over the past month. He had chest pains, he was getting cardiac treatment and all of that. Plus also, there's also employees for the New York City Department of Corrections who also have contracted the virus as well as other prisoners. So who knows where he's coming from.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Would that be fair? In like just the universal, I mean, I'm not wanting to, you know, say what fair is when it comes to karma, but in the universal laws of karma, if he caught coronavirus and died within the next week or two after being sentenced to 23 years,
Starting point is 00:15:41 how would people feel about that? Would they feel like justice was served? Maybe not. They probably want him to sit for a while. That's what I'm saying. You can't just clock out after two weeks, two weeks after being sentenced. You got to suffer a little bit.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Right. Well, at least, you know, I will say at least he was sentenced before anything like that could have happened. So there goes your legacy. But Rand Paul has also tested positive for coronavirus as well. They said he's feeling fine. He was asymptomatic and he was tested out of an abundance of caution
Starting point is 00:16:13 because of his extensive travel and events that he was participating in. So now Mitt Romney is self-quarantining after Rand Paul has tested positive for coronavirus as well. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are feeling much better after being treated for coronavirus. Tom Hanks tweeted out, hey, folks, two weeks after our first symptoms and we feel better. Sheltering in place works like this. You don't give it to anyone. You don't get it from anyone.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Common sense. No, going to take a while. But if we take care of each other, help where we can and give up some comforts, this too shall pass. We can figure this out. So they have been self-quarantined in Australia in their home after being released from a hospital. Yes. Yeah, you know they feeling better
Starting point is 00:16:51 because his wife was listening to D-Nice's homeschool this weekend, Wildin' Out to Naughty by Nature. I seen her. She knew all the words too. Yeah. I don't know if she was actually listening to D-Nice's homeschool,
Starting point is 00:17:01 but that's what she was doing in my mind. And let's talk about D-Nice's club quarantine that happened over the weekend. D-Nice was on there for like seven hours at a time DJing and everybody was joining the party. And he ended up having over 106,000 people at one time on his Instagram live, just vibing out. A lot of celebrities were in the building, too. He had 150, 160 yesterday. Well, that was yesterday. Saturday, yeah, Saturday he got up to like 105.
Starting point is 00:17:31 105. Yesterday he got up to like 180 yesterday. Yeah, he got there. Oh, yeah, I think when I was looking, it was at like 136 or something like that yesterday. So shout out to Dean Nice. He always DJs my birthday party every year, too. But he is one of the most incredible DJs
Starting point is 00:17:46 to be able to DJ for that long. And then doing every type of genre, he was all over the place with it, but it was all cohesive. And there were people that were actually listening on the live, like even Bernie Sanders was in there and Joe Biden was on there. Paul McCartney was on there, Quest, everybody.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Well, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, the people that run their accounts were on there. They McCartney was on there. Quest, everybody. Well, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, the people that run their accounts were on there. They might have been watching too. I'm going to be honest with you. I don't like when politicians do stuff like that. That was so pandering to me.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Because it's whack. Like, yo, you just, all of a sudden, you just want to show up to where you think all the black people are congregating because it's election season. I mean, it's a great look for D-Nice,
Starting point is 00:18:23 but that's whack. Yeah, obviously. I would say it was all great look for D-Nice, but that's whack. Yeah, obviously. I would say it was all kinds of people in there, though. It was. They knew that's what people were. So that's why they went there to leave a comment and show the fact that they were there. And I'll tell you another reason. I'm sure they don't usually listen to that type of music or D-Nice before, but it was good.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Yes, and the fact that Donald Trump has spoke every day this week, you know what I mean? And the Democrats haven't really offered any counter-programming. And the one time we see you pop up this week, you popping up on D-Nights Live. Come on, man. Like I said, it's a great look for D-Nights. Bought a lot of attention to what D-Nights was doing, though. It was dope for D-Nights. Yeah, shout out to D-Nights.
Starting point is 00:18:57 He was shouting out everybody who was joining him on his live. And I saw he posted something last night. He said... He passed the baton to quest love he said I had a tearful he had I had a tearful moment this morning after realizing that we all came together as a global community and dance as I played music in my living room it was beautiful to experience and I'm truly humbled by the amount of love I received thank you to everyone that supported me on this journey let's continue to uplift each other as we get through this dark time.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Because music is definitely something that brings people of all different genres together. So it doesn't matter what your political beliefs are. It doesn't matter anything. It doesn't matter if you're at home struggling right now. It doesn't matter if you're rich. Whatever it is, music is the common denominator. So a lot of people were on there just partying and having a great time. Salute them.
Starting point is 00:19:46 And by the way, where were all the terrestrial radio DJs? Why the terrestrial radio DJs? They were definitely doing their own. I've seen Self doing one. I've seen Mr. Rogers doing one. Quicksilver. Oh, that's good. DJ Active.
Starting point is 00:19:58 DJ Sus1. A lot of people were doing theirs. They all followed D-Nice's lead. No, there was a lot of people Doing it at the same time As D-Nice Every DJ got on And was doing it
Starting point is 00:20:08 But just nobody was You know got his Paying him no attention He got the most love That's right That's all Nobody was paying him No attention
Starting point is 00:20:15 Okay that's why I didn't see it then Cause I was wondering I was like where all The terrestrial DJs at At a time like this You know a lot of people Were doing their own mixes too
Starting point is 00:20:22 There was gospel ones I saw Kid Capri I saw Kid Capri. I saw Kid Capri. He does satellite radio. That's why I said terrestrial. Yeah, a self was on there. I didn't see Clue doing one, but I seen Mr. Rogers.
Starting point is 00:20:33 I seen Quicksilver. There was a lot of people. Andy, you didn't do yours. No, I didn't do one. I got five kids. I can only mix for 15 minutes before my kids start. And by the way,
Starting point is 00:20:42 don't do it when D-Nice is on, please, guys. Like, that was another corny thing I saw. D-Nice was on there killing it. Everybody was logged into him, and then people got on, like, trying to compete. Like, no, let D-Nice have his moment. You know, Michelle Obama ain't on your live, King.
Starting point is 00:20:56 All right, well, I'm Angela Yee, and that is your rumor report. All right, thank you, Miss Yee. Now we got front page news next. Yes, and we'll give you some more of these coronavirus updates. We'll tell you what's happening in your city and what you should Miss Yee. Now we got front page news next. Yes, and we'll give you some more of these coronavirus updates. We'll tell you what's happening in your city and what you should be looking for. All right.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Maybe I can give you cheese. All right. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Let's get in some front page news. Where we starting, Yee? Well, they were trying to come to a deal yesterday on some stimulus package, but right now that doesn't look like it's going to happen at this point in time. Democrats have shut that down, and I think they're trying to get some clarification on what is going to be in this stimulus package. So they said it's not a bipartisan proposal, according to Democrats.
Starting point is 00:21:46 It is a Republican proposal. Democrats are pushing back right now. Well, Democrats need to find a nice, simple... Oh, go ahead. I was going to say, what's making it even more complicated is that some of the Republicans are quarantined, so they can't vote right now. I just think Democrats need to find a simple way to let America know why, you know, they
Starting point is 00:22:08 holding up the money right now. Because, I mean, you know, right now it just sounds like, oh, Democrats are stopping these checks from going out. You got to let people know what are the fine, you know, details in that bill that you don't think will help the people. Because if not, it just looks like you're holding up the money. Right. Right. It looks like they're still up the money. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:25 It looks like they're still working on trying to figure this out. But what they're saying, part of it is that the amount of money that this will cost is roughly has grown to about $2 trillion. So I guess they want to get some clarification on where this money is going and how much it is right now. So right now they have blocked movement on that stimulus package. It's probably going to corporations more so than the people. That's what I would hope.
Starting point is 00:22:47 I would hope that the Dems are blocking it because it's going to more corporations than the actual people who need it. Other than that, I don't see why they would be holding up the money. But everybody needs to go at this point. Alright, now there's a 12-year-old girl, Emma, who is fighting for her life in Atlanta in the hospital after testing positive
Starting point is 00:23:03 for coronavirus. She was diagnosed with pneumonia on March 15th and then tested for positive for coronavirus on Friday night. As of Saturday, she was on a ventilator and is currently in stable condition. They're trying to figure out how could this even have happened. She
Starting point is 00:23:19 had not traveled recently. It's unknown how she contracted the virus. So they're saying how could this 12-year-old girl who was otherwise healthy have contracted the virus? Walmart and Publix. That's got to be the youngest case so far, right? That I've heard. A 12-year-old? There was a baby.
Starting point is 00:23:36 There's a newborn. There's a baby that has one too. Yeah, but I'm talking about somebody who's actually like in ICU, like fighting for their life. I haven't heard no kids. That's the first child I heard. I think overseas there was. I think maybe in Italy there was, but not here. And the scary part is, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:52 they were talking about this disease living on cardboard for 24 hours and on metal for a couple of days and all these different things. That's scary, bro. That's really, really scary. Yeah, I was sizing up all the Amazon packages in my house yesterday. Well, one of the co-founders of The Wing said that her six-month-old baby tested positive for coronavirus. Argie Gelman, she posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing a mask and surgical gloves in the hospital room. She said, this morning we learned that Sid tested positive for COVID-19.
Starting point is 00:24:22 He's doing okay, and we are monitoring him closely. Reach out to everyone in your life and tell them that you love them. So listen, how should you handle the packages when they come to your house? When Amazon send you stuff, are you supposed to spray it down with Lysol? Are you supposed to wipe the box down?
Starting point is 00:24:35 What are you supposed to do? That's what I do. I spray it down with Lysol, and I usually leave it outside for 24 hours, and then I bring it in the next day. See, I don't want to leave it outside because I feel like that corona would just be lingering in the air. In my mind, corona just out here it in the next day? I don't want to leave it outside because I feel like that corona would just be lingering in the air.
Starting point is 00:24:47 In my mind, corona just out here lingering in the air. I can't leave packages outside here in Brooklyn, so that's not going to happen. No, I'll leave it outside. I'll spray it down with Lysol. Anything you touch, just wash your hands before you, you know, do anything else after that too. Just period.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Just continually wash your hands. All right. Walmart and Publix have adjusted hours to help seniors. So right now what they're doing is from March 24th through April 28th, Walmart is doing an hour long shopping event for seniors every Tuesday. If you're 16 and older, an hour before stores open to the general public. And then Publix is designating Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. as senior shopping hours for customers age 65 and older. So this all starts tomorrow. So just so you know, Walmart is also announcing plans to hire 150,000 employees.
Starting point is 00:25:36 That is to meet demand in their stores. So they are going to be doing that. So if there's people right now who aren't able to work, this might be an opportunity for you. Purell is also facing a lawsuit. I feel like all those little kids will be shoveling the snow. Like now is the time to like hustle because you could be like going to get old people's grocery lists and going to do their shopping for them. That could be a nice little hustle. Yeah, that would be smart.
Starting point is 00:25:59 That's a smart hustle. Yeah. All right. Purell is also facing a lawsuit over false and misleading claims about the effectiveness of their products. You know, it says it can kill 99.99% of illness-causing germs. So the FDA went on record stating they have not been able to prove if those statistics are true. And so now they are facing a lawsuit over those claims. Don't call me a liar now.
Starting point is 00:26:23 We've been saying this for years. Okay, now all of a sudden when this little coronavirus come, y'all want to tell us that we don't kill all these other viruses. Knock it off, okay? Well, and by the way, they say 99.9% that the rest of them low percentages could be coronavirus. All right, in Atlanta, Magic City Strippers are dancing
Starting point is 00:26:39 for online customers. So for $20, you can actually go on the live stream and get 24-hour access to watch the dancers do their things on stage. Now, this was on Instagram, and I guess Instagram told Magic City they're not allowed to make money
Starting point is 00:26:55 off of the site. Not in that way. So now Magic City is going to have their own live stream site up and running by today, supposedly. I've seen T-Pain. I don't know if you watch T-Pain. T-Pain was doing a virtual, some kind of virtual strip club
Starting point is 00:27:08 where he puts on his glasses and he could actually be in the strip club. Some virtual thing he was doing. What are these women doing that I would pay $20 for? I got Pornhub. What are they doing that's worth $20? You know, Pornhub is free in some countries now. That's what I'm saying. I got Pornhub.
Starting point is 00:27:24 So it's just like, why would I need to pay them women $20 to watch them twerk? Pornhub is free in some countries now. That's what I'm saying. I got Pornhub. So it's just like, why would I need to, you know, pay them women $20 to watch them, you know, twerk? Pornhub is free here. What are you talking about? Not here. I said in some countries. I think in Italy, it's for their premium service, it's free. And I think it might be in France also, but not here yet. All right.
Starting point is 00:27:39 I'm Angela Yee, and that is your Front Page News. All right. Thank you, Miss Yee. Now, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. You sounded devastated about that. In the rumors, we were talking about
Starting point is 00:27:50 Idris Elba and his wife. Now Idris Elba contracted, of course, the COVID-19 and his wife was by his side. And now she has. Why you say it all formal? COVID-19. That's the Rona.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Whatever you want to call it. Coronavirus or COVID-19. Coronavirus. She has it now. All right, well, his wife Sabrina also is positive and has also tested positive for coronavirus. And she sat down and talked to Oprah about why she chose not to quarantine away from her husband.
Starting point is 00:28:21 I've been tested. Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive. You know, I'm not surprised I wanted to be with him. I think that's an instinct as a wife. You just want to go and take care. I could have made a decision to put myself maybe in a separate room or stay away,
Starting point is 00:28:36 and I'm sure that people are making those decisions and are tough decisions to make, but I made the decision to want to be with him and, you know, still touch him. So we're asking 800-585-1051. Would you be ride or die with your husband or your wife? Call us up right now. Let's talk about it. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. It's topic time call 800-585-1051 to join into the discussion with the breakfast club let's talk about it
Starting point is 00:29:14 morning everybody it's dj nv angela yee charlamagne the god we are the breakfast club good morning now if you just joined us we were talking about Idris Elba and his wife. Now, Idris Elba, of course, got the coronavirus. He tested positive. He made that announcement with his wife by his side. And now it seems like she has. Let's play the audio. I've been tested.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive. You know, I'm not surprised I wanted to be with him. I think that's an instinct as a wife. You just want to go and take care. I could have made a decision to put myself maybe in a separate room or stay away. And I'm sure that people are making those decisions and are tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to want to be with him and, you know, still touch him. So we're asking 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Would you be ride or die with your husband or your wife if you contracted coronavirus? Ye. Well, I'm not married. But I do have. I would think, and this is what Sabrina, his wife's reasoning was, that he contracted it from the person the same time she was with him. So she probably had it anyway. So I would think I would probably have it anyway. So I wouldn't quarantine myself away. And also,
Starting point is 00:30:29 if I have to help him out and take care of him, you know, I would probably wash my hands a lot and try to do the best that I could. But I'm not going to stay away and quarantine away. Yeah, for myself, if I had coronavirus, I would definitely stay away from my family. I would stay away from my wife. I would stay away from my wife. I would stay away from everybody. I would. We don't even believe you. No, I would.
Starting point is 00:30:48 I mean, I would have to. I wouldn't want my wife. I mean, I don't know how it would affect. Oh, you're saying if you had it, but what if she had it? Would you stay away from her? No, if she had it, I wouldn't. But if I had it,
Starting point is 00:30:57 I would definitely stay away from her. I mean, I just don't know how it affects her body or how it might affect my body differently or her body differently. And we have kids. I would definitely quarantine myself, go into a part of the house where nobody could go until, you know, it ran through the system.
Starting point is 00:31:12 But I would definitely stay away. I think I got too much on the line with having kids, and I would hate for me to be sick, my wife to be sick, and give it to my kids. What about you, Charlamagne? But if she had it, would you quarantine her away from the family? Yes. I would.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Yeah, I would. I mean, it's a tough decision to make. I think it's easier for Idris and his queen to make because, correct me if I'm wrong, they don't have children. And if you have children, it would impact your decision, especially if you've got young kids at the house. I personally wouldn't want my queen to get sick. I would fall back, go quarantine myself for 14 days, make sure I was straight before I took it back to the house. I personally wouldn't want my queen to get sick. I would fall back, go quarantine myself for 14 days, make sure I was straight before I took it back to the house. And it would kill me to be away from my family at a time like this. But due to the kids, yeah. And both parents can't be sick, especially when you got a bunch of young kids in the house. Yeah, there's no way I would do that. Not at all. And even my manager, June, I know we just, you know, a couple of weeks ago,
Starting point is 00:32:06 we went to Orlando, and his wife made him stay downstairs in the den for, I think this is his 13th day. He has one more day just to make sure he doesn't have a house. She doesn't want him to spread it to the kids. Now, are we sure June's not in the doghouse or something? Are we sure June's out here living right? I'm just asking. I'm just saying. Yes, he is. You're positive? Are we sure June out here living right? I'm just asking. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Is he? Yes, he is. You're positive? Yeah, I'm positive. He's not positive. He's negative. It could be a number of reasons that man
Starting point is 00:32:33 is down in the basement on that couch, okay? Shut up. Other than coronavirus. Shut up. Let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? Hey, this is Key.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Hey, Key. What's going on, bro? Hey, I'm all right. Now, do you have a wife or a husband? No. And not ready to make it at this point in time. So why are you calling on this topic then? This is for the people in the relationships, okay?
Starting point is 00:32:57 The married folks. So, I mean, I feel like at this point in time, you have to be smart about it. You can be a brideguard without being stupid, and she could have quarantined herself and still took care of her man. Okay. Well, you can't do both. Yeah, it's one or the other. So let's say your spouse.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Let's say you had a spouse, and your spouse got coronavirus. Would you want to be quarantined? What would you do for him? What I would do is they would be quarantined in a room. I would wear gloves and a mask for him when I'm taking him food, and I would clean whatever dishes he has, I mean, whatever the tray was on, with coir to make sure it's disinfected, and it would have like a garbage tray that he could go out.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Same thing with the plastic utensils. So you would treat him like I'm sure doctors and registered nurses treat the patients that they get now you make sure that you're Covered up and all of that good stuff It's about protecting yourself and others Because what she probably did was I'm pretty sure She got her test on Friday She didn't get infected on Friday
Starting point is 00:33:56 She was probably infected for a couple of days Before she found out she was positive for coronavirus So what she did Okay Dr. Stoose How do you But you would be there Bottom line is you would be there coronavirus. So what she did... Okay, Dr. Stoose. How do you... Alright. She took care of a man... But you would be there. Bottom line is you would be there. ...and affected those other people that were
Starting point is 00:34:12 in the store. You have to be smart about it. Alright, well that is very true. Bottom line is you would be there. Well, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. If your spouse contracted coronavirus, would you stay there? Would you be right or die? Or would you quarantine yourself away from him or her? Let's talk about it.
Starting point is 00:34:27 It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Me, me, me. Add your opinions to the Breakfast Club top. Come on. 800-585-1051. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now, if you just joined us, we're talking about Idris Elba. He was contracted the coronavirus. When he announced it, his wife was by his side.
Starting point is 00:35:00 She was being a ride or die, but now she has it. Let's listen. I've been tested. Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive. You know, I'm not surprised I wanted to be with him. I think that's an instinct as a wife. You just want to go and take care. I could have made a decision to put myself maybe in a separate room or stay away.
Starting point is 00:35:18 And I'm sure that people are making those decisions and tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to want to be with him and, you know, still touch him. So we're asking 800-585-1051. If you found out that your spouse had the coronavirus, would you be ride or die? Would you stay by his side? Or no way, you're getting far away. Let's talk about it. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:35:40 What up? This is Kee and Jay's dad. You know, I love y'all. What's up, bro? What's up, King? What's up? Hey, I was, yeah's dad. You know, I love y'all. What's up, bro? What's up, King? What's up? Hey, I was, yeah, I'm going to answer the question. I got 21 years in with his mom, so I probably sit around and I work quarantine.
Starting point is 00:35:52 But I was an ill-dressed albemann. This is new Billy Dee Williams. I got some female friends that was ready to get the rollin' behind that man. He's saying because it was ill-dressed. Women don't mind. Yeah, women don't mind because it's ill-dressed. But it's just kind of crazy that, you know, people would go that far because of who it is.
Starting point is 00:36:08 How old are you? You're close to 60, aren't you? No, man, I'm 39, Charlemagne, with your funny shot. You're 39? You're 39 and using Billy Dee Williams references? I'm saying, though, man, dang, I got to have old parents. My mama was about 70. I was the last baby.
Starting point is 00:36:24 What you expect? Got you. So you remember your mama lusting over Billy Deke. Thank you, bro. Hello, who's this? Hey, Jonathan. How you doing this morning? Now, if your wife or your husband had coronavirus,
Starting point is 00:36:47 would you be his ride or die or her ride or die? I would definitely be her ride or die. That's wifey right there. I got to hold it down for her. So you would stay right there? You don't care if you got it or nothing? Not at all. That's family right there.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Y'all got kids? Okay. No, I don't got kids. So, I mean, so I'm not endangering any of the youth. Right. Yeah, I think kids factor, kids play a real big part in this decision, man. Because, you know, you just don't want to do anything that infects the kids, you know? And you can't have both parents sick.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Another thing that plays a part is your own health, too, by the way, if you don't have any preexisting conditions. Because, obviously, if you are sick or you have asthma or you have anything else that's wrong, that's not something that you want to protect because it could be dangerous. I don't know about that. That's not true. I don't know about that either because I've been seeing a lot of people die this weekend that didn't have no preexisting conditions, man.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Yeah, we got to stop saying that because people believe, like, I'm good money. No, I ain't got to worry about it. No, you still have to worry. That does put you more at a risk, though. I would think that if you, if your husband or wife had it or your significant other, and you know that you have
Starting point is 00:37:54 pre-existing conditions, it could be a lot more dangerous for you, too, though. Because some people are saying, oh, I don't care. I'll get it, too. I don't care. But you do have to think
Starting point is 00:38:02 about your own health. I'm going to tell you something. I think that it's two viruses out here. I think it's two coronaviruses. That's my conspiracy theory. I think one is like the basic cable package and I think the other is like Corona Plus and I think Corona Plus is the one that's really out here
Starting point is 00:38:15 killing folks and I think that they know that it's two viruses out here but they don't want to tell that to the people because they know that one is mild and one is really taking people out. Now, I think it's Russian roulette with your body. You don't know how it's going to affect your body. Like for some people, they're able to go through it. And some people, their body just doesn't. I mean, there's no way of possibly knowing. All right,
Starting point is 00:38:35 let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. If your spouse has coronavirus, are you going to be ride or die? Are you going to stand right by them? Maybe you can get it or nope. You got to get the hell away from me. Let's talk about it. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
Starting point is 00:39:08 I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tribe owned country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory.
Starting point is 00:39:23 I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh, my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:40:50 I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams.
Starting point is 00:41:06 I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best and you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:41:51 It's topic time. Call 800-585-1051 to join in to the discussion with The Breakfast Club. Talk about it. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Talk about it. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Back to the work week on this Monday. Now, we're talking about Idris Elba. Now, he has the coronavirus. And when he announced it, he had his wife by his side. Well, now she has it. His wife, Sabrina. I've been tested. Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive.
Starting point is 00:42:25 You know, I'm not surprised I wanted to be with him. I think that's an instinct as a wife. You just want to go and take care. I could have made a decision to put myself maybe in a separate room or stay away. And I'm sure that people are making those decisions and are tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to want to be with him and you know still touch him so we're asking 800-585-1051 if your spouse contracted coronavirus what would you do would you ride or die or would you stay far away let's let's go to the phone lines hello who's this now you sound like you ain't about to die for nobody if your husband got the coronavirus, would you stay? I mean, I would definitely stay away. Not because it's bad.
Starting point is 00:43:09 I just think that that's the safest thing to do. I have kids, so it's a different type of time. I don't think it's a smart idea because now you're another person added to somebody who could possibly give it to somebody else. I agree with you. And you said the magic word when you got kids. Like, I agree with him. Hello, who's this? And if your significant other loves you, they shouldn't want you to get coronavirus too. Hey, my name is Jonathan Jones.
Starting point is 00:43:32 I will go ahead and quarantine myself, but I just want to say this to the world and everybody that's listening. God is getting everybody's attention right now. This is just the beginning of the things that's going to happen in this world. So just stay prayed of. Stay close to God and he's going to stay close to them and he's going to stay close this world. So just stay prayed of, stay close to God and he's going to stay close to them
Starting point is 00:43:46 and he's going to stay close to you. I don't disagree with you, sir. Not at all. I actually agree with you. All right now. Hello, who's this? Jasmine. Hey, Jasmine.
Starting point is 00:43:56 How you doing this morning? I'm doing fine. How are you guys doing? Good morning, Jasmine. What's happening, queen? Now, if you found out that you're from Detroit. Okay, what up, though?
Starting point is 00:44:05 If you found out your spouse had coronavirus, would you stay with him or would you quarantine yourself? Would you be his ride or die? What would you do? I'll stay. We could get through it together. Do you have kids? Yes.
Starting point is 00:44:17 That's the only thing, though. I have to figure out something with the kids. We have to come up with a plan A, B, and C. Yeah, if you got kids, for the sake of the family, I would say quarantine away from each other. It's just a very hard decision to make when you used to have an unprotected sex with a person. If you've been having raw sex with a person,
Starting point is 00:44:35 taking chances like that, you don't mind a little corona. Oh, stop it. Bye, Charlamagne. Not today. You know, when you get married, they say through sickness and health, though. They do say through sickness and health, but, I mean, yeah,
Starting point is 00:44:50 that don't mean I got to be sick with you. That's not saying you're going to leave them. That just means for this period of time, you'll be quarantined. Because I would think that, and, Amber, you said you wouldn't want to get your wife sick, so you care about her enough to know I don't want anything to happen.
Starting point is 00:45:04 So I'm infected. Let me stay over here and quarantine myself away from the person who I love. Yeah, when y'all got young kids at the house, both parents can't be sick. Like, imagine me being sick, you know, with an 11-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a 1-year-old in the house,
Starting point is 00:45:20 both parents being sick. Nah, man, you can't do that. And please, please don't let mama get sick. Because daddy ain't no good at a time like this. You just love the other person and you don't want anything to happen to them too. So you might just say, look, I just don't want you to get sick because people are dying from this.
Starting point is 00:45:35 So at the end of the day, I'd rather you just stay away from me until I'm safe here. You sound like Future. Yeah, and by the way, I would much rather get sick as the dad and go quarantine. Because let's be for real, dads ain't no good at a time like Future. Yeah, and by the way, I would much rather get sick as the dad and go quarantine, because let's be for real, dads ain't no good at a time like this.
Starting point is 00:45:49 The only thing we here for is to protect the house. That's all. That's all I'm doing. That's it. It's all about mama right now. Mama is holding it down. Shout out to all the queens that's holding the houses down
Starting point is 00:46:00 during this pandemic. Absolutely. You sound like Future, Amy. Parents right now because I don't know if I have it, if I'm asymptomatic and I don't want to give
Starting point is 00:46:08 anything to them. So it's the same thing. Now, Yee, we got rumors on the way? Yes, and we are going to talk about Taylor Swift versus Kanye West round 25.
Starting point is 00:46:18 That's still going on? Yeah. They cute as like herpes, bro. Just keep spreading? It won't go nowhere. It just won't go away. We'll get to it next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good, herpes, bro. Just keep spreading. It won't go nowhere. This won't go away. We'll get to it next. Keep it locked.
Starting point is 00:46:27 This is The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Taylor Swift versus Kanye still. This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee.
Starting point is 00:46:40 Rumor has it. On The Breakfast Club. So listen up. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Yes, so Taylor Swift versus Kanye West is back on again. Now this phone call has come out, and that was the phone call between Kanye and Taylor Swift from back in 2016. You know, the one that Kim Kardashian had put up some footage of previously to prove the fact to her that Kanye had actually spoken to Taylor Swift about the famous song and had informed her that she would be on the song and told her about
Starting point is 00:47:10 the lyrics. Well, now here is more of that conversation that you might not have heard before. It has a very controversial line at the beginning of the song about you. What does it say? Okay. I've literally sat with my wife with my whole management team with everything and try to rework this line i've thought about this line for eight months i've had this line and i've tried to rework it every which way and the the original way that i thought about it is the best way so it says to all my south side that know me best i feel like taylor swift might owe me sex that's not mean okay so now people are saying to cancel kanye west because of this they said
Starting point is 00:47:56 kanye did not call for approval which is what taylor swift had been saying all along and uh he had denied that and kim kardashian had said that they had gotten her approval and he had denied that and Kim Kardashian had said that they had gotten her approval and she had heard the song in advance but I guess this phone call proves that that was not really the case and some of the things in the song she was not aware of such as him calling her a bitch I think number one Kanye West and the Kardashians have proved that they can't be canceled that's number one and number two who cares at a time like this? It's about 10 years later. Who gives a damn about some Kanye West and Taylor Swift feud?
Starting point is 00:48:30 Come on, people. Taylor Swift probably cares, and her fans feel vindicated right now. And Kim Kardashian was liking tweets and things like that over the weekend after this phone call leaked, I guess. Well, explain to me what vindicated them, because I missed that. What vindicated them in that phone call? Well, I guess they felt like he did not tell her
Starting point is 00:48:50 everything that was going to be on that song as they had previously said that they did. He told her the line. He told her, hey, let's have, you know what? I'm not going down this rabbit hole. I don't care. He said we might still have sex, but I guess the part about calling her a bitch
Starting point is 00:49:02 and all of that was not previously told to her before the song came out. Sound like future. People bored. All right now let's talk about some positivity. Rihanna, her Clara Lionel Foundation has donated five million dollars to coronavirus relief. That donation will help doctors and nurses who are on the front lines right now. Also help speed up testing and medical care in countries like Haiti and also to help support groups in the United States and around the world to support a whole bunch of different efforts like local food banks who are serving at-risk communities in the United States.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Salute to Rihanna. You know what I knew Rihanna was a G? I mean, number one she donated that money, but this weekend at D-Nice's homeschool party, she was smoking weed right next to Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama and didn't even think about putting the joint out. Salute to RiRi. All right, Netflix has also created a $100 million relief fund,
Starting point is 00:49:51 and that is for out-of-work cast and crew. So that is going to help out a lot of people. They said, we're in the process of working out exactly what this means. But in addition to the two weeks' pay, we've already committed to the crew and cast on productions. We were forced to suspend last week. It will also help non-Netflix workers. The company said $15 million of that money will go to third party and nonprofits providing emergency relief to out-of-work cast and crew in the countries where their productions are shot as well. Hey, man, salute to Netflix.
Starting point is 00:50:18 By the way, salute to all the streaming services. They're so important right now. That is an essential part. That is an essential part of the house. Netflix, Hulu, goddamn Amazon. I was watching things that I never watched. BET Plus. I was watching things this weekend that I never watched.
Starting point is 00:50:34 So salute to all the screaming services. All right. Now, Wendy Williams is ready to risk it all to return to TV during the quarantine. During a recent trip to Dr. I, she said she learned she'd be shutting down production over the phone. And she basically wanted to go ahead. She first was doing the show without an audience. But she said, I can do it even with no audience. I don't even have to have the staffers there because I did that for two days.
Starting point is 00:50:59 And, you know, even though they said they needed to have her home indefinitely, she still wanted to go ahead and do her show. You know why? You know why this is probably killing Wendy? Because Wendy at the heart of her is a radio girl. And, you know, right now all of us are broadcasting from home. You know what I'm saying? We wouldn't even think about not being on air at a time like this. In fact, this is the time when you really earn your stripes as a radio personality. And I know she got that in her. So to not be able to go and express her voice and talk to the people and be
Starting point is 00:51:28 with the people at a time like this. Oh, I know it's killing her. All right. Now, Drake has tested negative for Corona virus. He was on Instagram with his dad, Dennis Graham,
Starting point is 00:51:37 and he delivered the news like that. It was something that people were worried about because he was hanging out with Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant had tested positive for the virus. And so people were saying, Oh, he was just with Drake. Drake might have it. Well, here's what Drake said. Corona? Yeah, it came back negative, though.
Starting point is 00:51:52 But, yo, that test is uncomfortable, though. They put that Q-tip all the way in, all the way inside your thoughts and shit. I think I'm OK. I bought a temperature gun. So, you know, like I don't have a temperature. I'm feeling fine. I was hurting a couple of days ago, you know, like in my chest and stuff. But I'm okay.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Well, that's good to hear. Yeah, that's great. He doesn't have it. You got a great house to quarantine in, though. Let's be clear. Huge house. Yeah, yeah. Drake got a little high school that he can quarantine in.
Starting point is 00:52:23 He'll be fine. Yeah. It's probably nice he gets to spend a lot high school that he can quarantine in. He'll be fine. Mm-hmm. Yeah. It's probably nice he gets to spend a lot of time at home right now in a house that he probably hasn't even seen every part of that house still. All right. Well, I'm with you. Very true. And that is your rumor report.
Starting point is 00:52:34 Nah, he's an artist. I'm sure he wants to be out and about like everybody else. Everybody. Well, he probably recording. In the house. Yeah, for a year. He got his studio. He probably is just sitting there recording.
Starting point is 00:52:45 He got his basketball court. He got the private two. He got his studio. He probably did this in every court. He got his basketball court. He got the private jet. He can go anywhere. It's a great time to create if you're a creator, though. If you're a creator and you're at the house, you're a writer, you know, you're doing scripts, you're writing books, music, whatever it is, this is a great time to be a content creator because you don't have nothing but time. Tap into, you know, those instincts
Starting point is 00:53:06 of that. Basically what I'm just trying to say is now's a good time to be a creator. I was trying to say something smart like Will Smith. I was trying to say something smart like Will Smith, but I realized this ain't Yeah, this ain't Red Table Talk and I ain't Will Smith. Yeah, right nigga. Alright. Charlamagne,
Starting point is 00:53:22 we giving that donkey too, bro. For after the hour, man, I can't believe the lack of empathy and sympathy that people have in these streets during these times. So I need Mayor Pam Triola and Michael Bornstein of Lake Worth Beach, Florida. Always goddamn Florida. They come to the front of the congregation so I can have a word with them, please. Why you yelling, man? You yell too much, man.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Shut up. All right, it's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Make sure you tell them to watch out for Florida, man? You yell too much, man. Shut up. All right, it's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Make sure you tell them to watch out for Florida, man. The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. Yes, you are a donkey. A Florida man attacked an ATM for a very strange reason. It gave him too much money.
Starting point is 00:54:03 Florida man is arrested after deputies say he rigged the door to his home in an attempt to electrocute his pregnant wife. Police arrested an Orlando man for tucking a flamingo. Put the breakfast club, bitchy. Donkey of the day with Charlemagne the guy. I don't know why y'all keep letting him get y'all like this. Donkey of the day for Monday, March 23rd
Starting point is 00:54:20 goes to Mayor Pam Triola and City Manager Michael Bornstein and all the council members of Lake Worth Beach, Florida. Now, what does your Uncle Sharla always say? The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. But we can't just chalk this up to Florida. No, this right here has to do with the lack of empathy and sympathy that some of us in America have for others. Now, everybody knows America is based on the haves and have-nots,
Starting point is 00:54:45 and having is a privilege. Simple as that. And when you have, you must use that privilege to help the have-nots, okay? In a lot of cases, you have to use that privilege to combat the prejudice that the have-nots usually receive. And you would think that this global pandemic that is impacting everyone called coronavirus or COVID-19, Corona, Quimby, that damn Rona,
Starting point is 00:55:05 whatever you want to call it, you would think that it would bring people together. Why? Because we all in the same boat. Doesn't matter what your race is, gender is, sexuality is, religion is, social status, financial status. None of that matters, okay? It doesn't matter how many followers you got on IG, Twitter, TikTok.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Doesn't matter what your last name is, where you from. Any and everybody can get it. Any and name is, where you from, any and everybody can get it. Any and everybody is being affected by it. Okay. This is a virus that has brought the country to a standstill. The dollars aren't circulating. Nothing is moving. So at a time like this, you would think that humans would understand what other humans are going through, but no, not in Palm Beach County, a place that has the third highest number of reported coronavirus cases in that state, which is 22. But it's also important to note that none of those are in the city of Lake Worth Beach. Now, all over the country, politicians at all levels
Starting point is 00:55:55 are trying to figure out the best ways to deal with threats to health and the economy caused by that damn Rona. OK, everybody is trying to figure it out. Now, I can't expect everyone to have all the answers. This is a problem that will require many solutions, but I do know that we shouldn't be causing people more problems at a time like this. We all have to collectively attempt to lighten each other's loads, especially those of us who, you know, have, okay?
Starting point is 00:56:20 Well, city manager Michael Bornstein clearly doesn't believe this logic because he turned off electricity for 50 customers on Tuesday before the city turned off people's utilities. OK, this is happening all over America. People utility disconnections are happening all say, I know people are losing their jobs to an external factor they can't control, but screw all that, turn their lights off. Okay, remember when I said the haves have to use their privilege to protect the have-nots? Well, this is the opposite of that. Okay, now, usually during Donkey today, I would have to, you know, get on Mayor Pam Triola's ass and I would have to have some sharp words for Michael Bornstein, but not today. Why? Because not all heroes carry hammers and are the
Starting point is 00:57:11 kings of their own fictional countries in Africa. See, it's a brother named Omari Hardy, who is 30 years old and he's a city council member who has been requesting an emergency meeting of the city council to discuss the pandemic and to discuss why in the hell would you cut people's utilities off at a time like this and of course those devils declined the request in fact the city manager michael bornstein said he talked to other city council members and no one other than omari believed an emergency meeting about the pandemic was necessary it's amazing to me that those mayonnaise flavored mammals don't understand the law of karma. Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us.
Starting point is 00:57:50 And this weekend, Omari Hardy was the beginning stages of that karma. Oh, he was a force of energy. Listen to how Omari Hardy stepped up for the people and challenged the powers that be for turning off people's utilities during this global pandemic. We could have banned large gatherings. We could have closed the beach. and challenge the powers that be from turning off people's utilities during this global pandemic. We could have banned large gatherings. We could have closed the beach. We could have put a moratorium on utility shutoffs. Also not within your power, and the attorney has held that that's true. You came up with new rules at the beginning of the meeting, and then you didn't even want to follow the rules that you came up with.
Starting point is 00:58:21 I don't care anything about this. We should have been talking about this last week. Can we cut off people's utilities this week and made them pay what could have been their last check to us to turn their lights on in a global health pandemic. But you don't care about that. You didn't want to meet. But every other year you go around and beg people for their votes. Can we explain more about your relationship with that guy than you care about the relationship with the people who don't go to work in this building. You were done.
Starting point is 00:58:47 You were done. Disrespectful. Disrespectful is what you've done to the working people in the city. I didn't do anything. You failed to act. I didn't do anything. When you're a leader, you failed to act. You said you didn't do anything.
Starting point is 00:59:00 You failed to act. Drop one of the clues bombs for Amari Hardy. Amari, salute to you brother i read about you in the washington post and i read how you said you didn't know how to feel about how you spoke to them devils king you did nothing wrong okay mayor pam triola had the nerve to tell that brother he was being disrespectful no what's disrespectful is you being a disgusting human jaw of helminth and not caring about the same people who voted your ass into that position, okay? Michael Bornstein, the city manager, what's disrespectful is you leaving a bunch of folks that you are supposed to represent in the dark, literally, while you go to your house and enjoy regular, everyday creature comforts like lights in the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:59:42 This is why voting on all levels matter. I don't care what y'all say. Those people were put in those positions because folks voted for them. Okay, black people, we have to be involved. We need more folks like Omari Hardy at these tables because he's clearly one of us. All right, and if he's not one of us, he's looking out for us. Imagine if that brother wasn't there speaking on behalf of the have-nots. This wouldn't even be a story.
Starting point is 01:00:05 Hell, we probably wouldn't even know these folks had their utilities cut off. That's why we have to have more public servants in those positions, not fake public servants, but actual public servants who care about the needs of the people, the public, okay? Omari Hardy is one of those people. Mayor Pam Triola and Michael Bornstein are not. Please let Kathy Griffin give Mayor Pam Triola, City Manager Michael Bornstein,
Starting point is 01:00:30 and all the council members in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, the biggest hee-haw. Please give this giant jar of mail the biggest hee-haw. Hee-haw. Hee-haw. You know, this got me to thinking, right? Like, how many places is this happening and we don't know about it? Because I was also reading in the Washington Post that, you know, this got me to thinking, right? Like, how many places is this happening and we don't know about it? Because I was also reading in the Washington Post that, you know,
Starting point is 01:00:47 the state of Maine is disconnecting people's utilities. And, you know, I just told y'all about what's happening in Lake Worth Beach, Florida. Like, how many places is this happening and we don't know about it? Because these people just simply, their voices aren't loud enough. Well, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Is this happening to you? Maybe they're shutting off your power, your electricity, or your water, or maybe they're
Starting point is 01:01:09 trying to evict you out your home. Let's talk about it right now. 800-585-1051. Is this happening to you? Let's talk about it. Put those devils on blast. Call us right now. Let's put those devils on blast. God damn it. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, if you just joined us, we're asking 800-585-1051. Are you in the area where they're cutting off your power, your electricity,
Starting point is 01:01:45 maybe your gas or your water, or maybe they're trying to evict you. Yeah, this comes from something. Yeah, this comes from something because, you know, in Lake Worth, Florida, that's what they're doing to the citizens of Lake Worth, Florida, cutting their utilities off. They're doing it in Maine. So we just want to know, you know, who else is going through this and they don't have the voice
Starting point is 01:02:01 to be heard about it. Alright, well, let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? Yeah, this is Marley from Luton, Louisiana. Hey, what's up Marley? Marley, what's happening? Yeah man, we got schools closing. People are out of work down here. We got plant
Starting point is 01:02:17 workers out of work. Man, it's crazy. Are they cutting y'all utilities off though? That was the question. I need you to pay attention, Marlon. Oh, I just got in the call. I just got in the call. They haven't cut anything off yet, but they've been talking about it. Cutting off y'all utilities?
Starting point is 01:02:33 Yeah, sir. For what reason? What's the reason? People don't have the money to pay their bills. I don't know, bro. It's crazy. God damn, boy. All right.
Starting point is 01:02:42 Thank you, brother. Now, mind you guys, we don't have interns, anybody answering the phone. So we just going random. So you don't know what you get sometimes. Hello. Who's this? What's up, Envy? This is Eric, man, from South Carolina, bro.
Starting point is 01:02:54 Eric, what's up, bro? How's it going? Not much. Not much. Just calling in on a little situation y'all was talking about. It's kind of crazy, too. But actually, Duke Energy sent an email saying that they were not out of respect to the COVID-19, but Spectrum sent an email Saturday
Starting point is 01:03:08 to me saying that they were going to actually discontinue my services if I don't pay the bill. Now, what part of South Carolina is this? I'm right here in Sumter. It's probably like 30 minutes from Columbia. I know where Sumter's at, brother. Now, listen, imagine a question. Are you behind on your bill or are you all caught up? Are they
Starting point is 01:03:23 cutting it off because of the corona or just because you ain't paid in a while? No, no, no, no. I ain't behind. I ain't behind. So that's your cable bill you're talking about or your internet service? What is it that they're cutting off? Spatial is the cable and internet. I have my cable and internet land through Spatial.
Starting point is 01:03:39 Okay. Lord have mercy. So what you gonna do, brother? What you mean what I'm gonna do? What you gonna do? You gotta adapt do? What you going to do? You got to adapt. Are you going to pay the bill? Yeah, I'm going to pay the bill. You ain't got no choice.
Starting point is 01:03:53 Well, you got a choice. You might not have no money. So if you ain't got no money, you can't pay the bill. They might not pay, but I got to pay. If I want the services, it's born and done. As it is, I can't watch no sports, no nothing. So I got to pay. You got to pay.
Starting point is 01:04:05 All right. That is a fact.'t watch no sports, no nothing. So I got to watch cable. You got to pay. All right. That is a fact. All right. Well, thank you, bro. Hello, who's this? I feel like water and electricity is probably the more important things that you need to make it. Yeah, water, electricity. Yeah, I ain't tripping off the cable company.
Starting point is 01:04:15 As much as these streaming services is important, that's not a necessity to have the cable on. Hello, who's this? Hey, it's me, Lata, calling from YC. What's up, PJ and B? What's this? Hey, it's me, Letta. Calling from YC. What's up, you, J&B? What's up? Good morning. Now, have they cut off anything by you? Your power, your electricity, your gas, your water?
Starting point is 01:04:31 No, no, no. Just my idiot landlord just trying to put me with me. I had a court hearing tomorrow. It's been canceled. Why are you trying to evict you now? Because I'm complaining about my refrigerator, Charlamagne. You're complaining about your refrigerator, and he's trying to evict you now? Because I'm complaining about my refrigerator, Charlemagne. You're complaining about your refrigerator, and he's trying to evict you. Come on now.
Starting point is 01:04:49 How many months are you behind? Ask me his name so I can put him out there. What's his name? My ***. Let me ask you a question. How many months are you behind on your rent at all? No, not at all. I just paid him on March the 6th, and he sent me an eviction notice on March the 9th
Starting point is 01:05:07 because I'm complaining about my refrigerator. He basically said... Where you calling from? That ain't got nothing to do with Corona. I know, but he asked about if anybody having any problems and stuff. He talking about... He meant your health, not the refrigerator, baby.
Starting point is 01:05:25 Come on now. Thank you. Thank you, mama. Let me just say this. It is literally stressing me out because we were in the middle of buying a house and we lost $2,000 trying to close on a house. Okay. So I was trying to call DJ Envy and ask him questions.
Starting point is 01:05:41 I didn't know you could have more than one lender. I didn't know you could have more than one lender. And then my husband of 25 years had been stressing over the last three months. And then my landlord come with this good card, eviction notice, because I'm complaining about my residuals. So now we don't go to court until April 20th.
Starting point is 01:05:58 So we can't do nothing next month. Where you calling from? New York. New York? Well, you ain't got nothing to do with no damn York? This ain't got nothing to do with no damn coronavirus. This ain't got nothing to do with the coronavirus. The question was, the question was, is anybody getting their utilities
Starting point is 01:06:13 cut off because they are out of work and they can't pay their bills? Well, if you are from New York, Mama, they're not doing any evictions right now, if you read. I don't know when they're going to start evictions back up, but I'm not telling you what to do, but just think about it like this. They can't ev evictions right now, if you read. I don't know when they're going to start evictions back up, but I'm not telling you what to do, but just think about it like this. They can't evict you right now, so do what you got to do.
Starting point is 01:06:33 All right, 800-585-1051. What's the question again, Charlemagne? The question is simply this, man. You know, for everybody that is experiencing utilities being cut off because of the coronavirus, because they're out of work. You know, in Lake Worth, Florida, they decided to cut off people's utilities. I think I read in Maine in the Washington Post, they said they're cutting off people's utilities. So I just want to know if anybody else
Starting point is 01:06:52 is experiencing, you know, that kind of injustice. Because to me, that's an injustice to get your utilities cut off just because you're out of work and you're not able to pay your bills this month. And for the woman who was calling from New York just now, in New York and New Jersey, they are suspending utility shutoffs. So York just now, in New York and New Jersey, they are suspending utility shutoffs.
Starting point is 01:07:06 So that's not something in New York or New Jersey or California or Michigan that you have to worry about. 800-585-1051. Let's talk about it. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
Starting point is 01:07:22 We are The Breakfast Club. Now, if you just joined us, we're asking 800-585-1051. We're asking, have they tried to shut off your power, your gas, your electricity, your water, or even evict you due to you being laid off because of the coronavirus? Maybe you couldn't pay your bills and they like F'd that. That's what we're asking. That's what we want to talk to this morning. So let's go to the phone lines.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Hello, who's this? Hi, this is Margie from Florida. Hey, Marjorie. Hey, crazy woman from Florida. Hi, Charlamagne. Hi, DJ Envy. Hi, Angela. Good morning. Hey. Good morning. Have they tried to shut anything that you had off? Your power,
Starting point is 01:07:59 your gas, your electric, anything? Yes, so I'm a concierge at a hotel hotel and we got sent home for eight weeks and our landlord still sent us an email saying the rent is due on the 1st. Damn, does he not know what's going on out here in these streets?
Starting point is 01:08:15 Yeah, but they don't care. If Donald Trump heartless ass can push the tax deadline back to April 15th, some of these landlords gotta have the same type of mentality, man. Well, the problem with the landlords is the reason the landlords have to ask is because a lot of time the landlords have a mortgage. And if the mortgage company is not giving them a break, they got to pay their bills, too.
Starting point is 01:08:35 So that's why it's not just that all landlords are horrible. Some landlords got to pay the mortgage. And if they can't pay the mortgage, they'll foreclose on that property. Everybody's got to go. Yeah. And that's why I said that we have to all collectively attempt to lighten each other's loads. Everybody. It all starts, I guess, at the top. Whatever the mortgage people, and the mortgage people can help the landlord, and the landlord can help the tenants.
Starting point is 01:09:00 Right, the tenants. The tenants. Everybody has to collectively tenants, tenants. Everybody has to collectively attempt to lighten each other's loads in a situation like this. I know because I know a lot of people say, I'm just not going to pay. Well, if you don't pay in the nine times out of 10, the landlord can't pay the mortgage. And if the landlord can't pay the mortgage, they lose that property. Then everybody got to go anyway. So, I mean, it got to be a lot more.
Starting point is 01:09:23 It has to be the banks helping. It has to be the banks helping. It has to be everybody has to help. It has to be collective. Yeah, collective. Hello, who's this? Hey, my name is Dee from Detroit. How y'all doing? What up, D?
Starting point is 01:09:35 Dee from the D. Yeah, that's me. That's a wild name to have, though. If you're a guy, you're like, yo, I was getting some D in the D. They'd be like, what? I didn't know you was that way. My goodness. Now, we're talking, has any company shut you off because you lost a job because of coronavirus
Starting point is 01:09:49 or anything that's affecting you, whether it's your gas or power or water or landlord? Anything like that, Mama? Well, you know what? That's what I said. I want to just put Detroit on the map with some positive things because they did restore everybody's water if their water was cut off. So everybody's water was restored and then their monthly bill would be like $25 a month.
Starting point is 01:10:13 So I just thought that that was, you know, good when I heard it. And that happened about two weeks ago. Yeah, they were early with that. I feel like Michigan was first. Yeah, it was just a positive thing, you know. Beautiful. Yeah, that is great. I just had to call you on that one. And I believe in Michigan they also said
Starting point is 01:10:31 that they are, if you have taxes on your property right now, they're not going to take your property or anything like that from you because of back taxes that's owed to. Absolutely. Alright, well thank you for your call, Mom. We got one more call? Hello, who's this? Hey, what's your name? Hi, this is Sarah. Where you calling from?
Starting point is 01:10:48 Hey, Sarah. I'm calling from New Jersey. Okay. Well, in New Jersey, they haven't been able to, the power company, electric company can't shut you off, the water company can't shut you off, right? Yeah, that's exactly what's going on, actually. I have a family in Florida that got a letter that they owed like $160
Starting point is 01:11:04 and they're going to turn their electric off. These are families that voted for you to be the mayor. They rooted for you. They wanted you to be there. Now you're just going behind their backs and doing exactly what you said you weren't going to do. I thought they passed something where they couldn't shut it off. I thought they couldn't shut off the electric
Starting point is 01:11:19 and power in Jersey. No, in Florida. Oh, Florida, you said. Oh, you're in Florida. No, no, she's in Jersey, but she's talking about the situation that happened in Jersey. No, in Florida. No, in Florida. Oh, Florida, you said. Oh, you're in Florida. Okay, because I know... No, no, she's in Jersey, but she's talking about the situation that happened in Florida. Yeah, exactly. These are people
Starting point is 01:11:31 that need your help. These are people that are going behind their backs and turning their electric off. These are people that have families. Yep. No, you're absolutely right. Now is not the time for that, man, to inconvenience people like that. Especially everybody's got to have running water right now
Starting point is 01:11:48 because we're trying to prevent things from happening. Everybody's at home right now, so people have to be able to have electricity. This is not the time to be inconveniencing people right now. This could have terrible health outcomes. But they have to do something. And they have to do something more than just suspend. And the reason why I say just suspend, because if you suspend it for three months, that doesn't mean I don't have to do something. And they have to do something more than just suspend. And the reason why I say just suspend, because if you suspend it for three months, that doesn't mean I don't have to pay it.
Starting point is 01:12:07 That means I'm going to have three months of payments to pay. And then when I do get a job, I got to pay three months of electric, three months of gas, three months of mortgage, three months of car notes. Like, I'll be behind for the rest of my life. Like, they have to do something else than just say, okay, we're going to suspend it. They have to do something. The government has to okay, we're going to suspend it. They have to do something. The government has to come in and take care of some of this.
Starting point is 01:12:27 And by the way, they don't understand the kind of monsters that they could be creating, too. And what I mean by that is, man, if you put somebody in a position where they're already not making no money,
Starting point is 01:12:35 they're already not able to pay their bills, and you turn their lights off, there's no telling what you're going to cause them to resort to doing. All right? Correct.
Starting point is 01:12:42 So, you know, you got to think about, you know, the thing that could possibly happen in the streets when people, you know, start getting desperate. All right. Simple as that. All right. What's the moral of the story? I guess that was it, huh?
Starting point is 01:12:54 Moral of the story is my wife just bought me breakfast, and it's amazing. I am eating some avocado toast right now. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm.
Starting point is 01:13:00 Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm.
Starting point is 01:13:01 Mmm. On raisin bread? Man. You ever had avocado toast on raisin bread? I love it. Oh, my God. All right. She didn't bring that for nobody else, huh?
Starting point is 01:13:10 Mm-mm. I.E., we got rumors on the way? Yes, we'll be talking about Casanova. He was outside, literally. We'll tell you what he's been doing. All right, we'll get into that next Keep It Locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:13:20 The Breakfast Club. It's about time. What's going on? Rumor Report. Rumor Report. This is the Rumor Report with Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Yes, rest in peace to Kenny Rogers. He passed away at his home in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He was 81 years old. He had stopped performing back in 2018 for health reasons, and they have not yet specified what his cause of death was, but they did say he had been in hospice care for some time. And he did have 21 number one country songs. Of course, you guys know the song The Gambler, right?
Starting point is 01:13:58 One of the most famous songs that he's had. And rest in peace again to Kenny Riles. No when to fold them. No when to hold him. No when to walk away. No when to run. Also rest in peace to New Orleans DJ Black and Mild. He died after testing positive for coronavirus. He's been working for over 20 years.
Starting point is 01:14:19 He was a popular New Orleans bounce DJ and radio personality. And he was one of two coronavirus-related deaths in Louisiana on Thursday. So rest in peace to him. Rest in peace to that brother. Young man, too. Young man, 44 years old. Rest in peace to that brother. I don't think he had any pre-existing medical conditions either.
Starting point is 01:14:39 No, no underlying health issues at all. All right. Our condolences to his family, who he has unfortunately left behind. They said that he left work on March 9th with a fever and did not return. And so it was completely unexpected. All right. In New Orleans, Saints head coach Sean Payton was on Good Morning America with Michael Strahan. And he talked about his coronavirus diagnosis as the first member of the NFL community to test positive.
Starting point is 01:15:05 Here's what he said. I'm feeling okay. It's been a week now, a week today that I got tested. When I went in last week on Monday, I had more chills. I had a little low-grade fever. Certainly felt like I had the flu. And then gradually during the course of this week, I would say I've progressively gotten a little better each day. I haven't had to deal with any respiratory issues.
Starting point is 01:15:28 Still getting tired, still getting fatigued. You know, you might get up and start working on a section of the house or cleaning the dining room or something. And then in about 20 minutes, just feel like you want to lay down again and take a nap. Man, I'm not going to lie. Listen, it takes me about a few different breaks every time I try to clean up each area of the house i work for about 20 minutes and i'm like okay i need a break then i sit down for a little while do something else then get back to it yeah i always need a nap to be able to do anything like i need a little 15 20 minute power nap so that would throw me off too yep all right now k camp has a black men don't cheat song and he has Ari Lennox, Black, and Tink on that song as well.
Starting point is 01:16:07 So he said when he first made the record, the second verse had Black all on it. He said, I reached out to Ari first, and when I hit her phone, she sent me that voice memo. So I used it on some creative-ish, even though she never laid a verse with Tink, that people love when we collapse. It was only right I added a verse for her.
Starting point is 01:16:22 He said he made an R&B classic, In My Opinion. We'll listen to it and see what you think. She think I'm messing around. She think I'm cheating on her. Boy, you've been acting strange. Got me lurking all in your phone. Keep playing all these games and I'm going to leave you alone. Hickeys on your neck. Boy, you're always making excuses. Sneaking around with that bitch. You can shoot steady feet and be pushed.
Starting point is 01:16:58 First of all, drop on the Clues bombs for Tink. Okay, I love Tink. She's one of the best artists out, period. Singing, rapping, songwriting. She can do it all. I'm a huge fan of her and I don't understand why one of these labels haven't snatched her up yet. And I fully support the K-Camp record Black Men Don't Cheat because I support the
Starting point is 01:17:14 message because black men, we really don't cheat. But Duvall's song with me was better. Just want to throw that out there. All right. And Casanova was shooting a music video even though there's this whole coronavirus scare that's happening, and we're talking about social distancing.
Starting point is 01:17:29 But he was outside. He was in Flatbush in Brooklyn, and the cops did come and shut it down. Listen to this. Calm down. My man, just back up a little bit. You might think you're running some shit, but you're running nothing. Listen, pick up your shit and go. I'm telling you right now.
Starting point is 01:17:43 There's an emergency. Come on, let's go. We're doing this. Well, Casanova apparently is not scared, and neither are the people that he was outside shooting this video with. Listen to him talking and the people around him. Listen, we all test positive for corona. I hope y'all do.
Starting point is 01:17:58 We all give a f***. We outside. I heard you. We all give a f***. Yeah, maybe it's not the time to be outside right now. Man, listen, I love Kaz, but Kaz, you gotta grow up, okay? I love that brother, but that's just
Starting point is 01:18:12 irresponsible and immature. You gotta use your influence better than that. People look up to Kaz in those Brooklyn streets. I saw the woman jumping out to give him a hug and saying how she couldn't wait to meet Kaz. Like, if they see you not taking it serious, Kaz, why should they take it serious? And why would you pretend to have something
Starting point is 01:18:27 that's actually killing people, that's making people sick? If somebody Kaz loves gets that disease and something bad happens to them, he's not going to feel good about that. And I understand him calling on Jesus, but always remember faith without works is dead. You can have faith in Jesus, but still follow the CDC guidelines and social distance.
Starting point is 01:18:44 You see how Rudy Gobert was joking about it and then ended up getting it. You don't want to play, but still follow the CDC guidelines and social distance. You see how Rudy Gobert was joking about it and then ended up getting it. You don't want to play around with that. That's what I'm saying. Don't play like that, Kaz. Come on, bro. That's just irresponsible and immature. I expect better of Kaz than that. All right. Well, I'm Angela Yee, and that is your rumor report. All right. Thank you,
Starting point is 01:19:00 Ms. Yee. Now, when we come back to People's Choice Mix, get your request in right now, 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Now, it's Women's History Month. And who are we repping today, Yee?
Starting point is 01:19:13 Well, today we are representing for somebody who, by the way, my mom loved my childhood growing up, Miss Chaka Khan. She was known as the queen of funk, and she was the first R&B artist to have a crossover hit with the song I feel for you back in 1984 She has 10 Grammy Awards and she sold 70 million records worldwide Here is Chaka Khan talking at Variety's power of women events It's Women's History Month and we're celebrating the most influential women in history. Check out this phenomenal woman. I started out with a band called Rufus. This was in the time, this was just like 70, 1970, 69, 70 when it was popular.
Starting point is 01:19:57 Girls were just getting, girls, any girl was just getting into the music industry. For a black girl to be the singer in a white man. And I used to work on Rush Street in Chicago. And I worked all the clubs in Rush Street. And I was way underage. I must have been in maybe five or six bands before I got with Rufus. Just singing around. I'm just a hard worker.
Starting point is 01:20:23 And I love people. And I just love to sing. Singing is my sanity. When I'm not singing and creating, I'm hurting myself. And it's not been easy, but I love it so much. And I love children so much. I sing because I have to and I love to. And that's the payoff for me.
Starting point is 01:20:44 That's the magic of my life and that was another phenomenal woman in history all right shout out to the queen yes who by the way I did have the opportunity to meet last year at Magic Johnson's birthday party and I was so excited and I took a picture with her and it was everything I ever imagined it could be you know sometimes you meet people and you'll be disappointed well when i met chaka khan i was elated she was amazing so shout out to chaka khan for women's history month all right now when we come back we got the positive notes so don't move it's the breakfast club good morning everybody it's dj envy angela yee charlamagne the god we
Starting point is 01:21:23 are the breakfast club now um again everybody if you're out there please stay your ass inside DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, again, everybody, if you're out there, please stay your ass inside. Only go out if you have to, if you got to check on relatives or you need food or you have to go to the doctor, emergencies. If not, stay home, man. Use FaceTime. Just sit back, relax. There's so many DJs playing music right now. You can relax.
Starting point is 01:21:41 There's so many good movies. I've seen Madam C.J. Walker was pretty good. I've seen the Malcolm X documentary. What was that called? Oh, Malcolm X documentary was called Who Killed Malcolm X? Who Killed Malcolm X. That was really, really good. I've been seeing a lot of documentaries.
Starting point is 01:21:59 Yeah, I didn't get a chance to watch the Madam C.J. Walker movie. You know what I did this weekend? You know the movies that they released online? Like the Onward. I watched Onward with the kids, but I also watched Invisible Man, and I would have never went to go see Invisible Man in the theater. So I'm telling y'all right now, if it's not a big
Starting point is 01:22:16 blockbuster movie like a Marvel movie or Fast and Furious, a lot of those movies are going to do very well on those streaming services because I damn sure paid $20 to see Invisible Man. I never wanted to see that. I definitely sat home and I watched A Fall from Grace. I hadn't seen that previously.
Starting point is 01:22:32 Did you guys watch that previously? No, I haven't seen that. With Bresha Webb? No, I haven't seen that. Yes, I watched that. I watched Miss Virginia. I don't know if y'all saw that. I've been watching all kinds of stuff.
Starting point is 01:22:44 I'm catching up on You series season two. I'm almost done with that. I watched The Virginia. I don't know if y'all saw that. I've been watching all kinds of stuff. I'm catching up on You series, season two. I'm almost done with that. I watched The Marriage Story. That was a pretty good movie. Scarlett Johansson is in that. Yeah, I don't never really watch TV, so this has been very different for me. Yeah, and Donald Trump is all over your TV, too. That's another thing you realize.
Starting point is 01:23:01 And I really want to tell the Democrats, I want to tell the Democrats, y'all should really do counters to Trump's briefings every day, especially the presidential candidates, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, because we live in an era where you have to keep people's attention. And Trump is doing a great job of that. And I see so many young people, rappers, influencers starting to say they like Trump. He's a gangster. They would vote for him if they could vote. Even if they can't vote, they got influence. And Trump really looks like he has no competition out here. He looks like he's the only one leading this fight against Corona.
Starting point is 01:23:31 And Democrats look like they busy fighting Bernie Sanders. And they look like they busy fighting against Trump. And Trump looks like he's out here helping the people. So I would really like to see some counter-programming to Trump briefings every day from the candidates. We have to be ready to figure out what's going on with the stimulus package that the Republicans presented and the issue that they are having with it, worker protections in the bill, because the Republicans wrote that and they said the rules on corporate bailouts
Starting point is 01:23:55 are too lax. They want to make sure that the average everyday person gets that stimulus money and it's not all going to these corporations and the 1%. So that's something we got to pay attention to as well because we do need a stimulus package. It just has to be the right one. Also, shout out to BET and BET Her. I did a whole Being Angela Yee. It's season seven of Being.
Starting point is 01:24:17 So I was the first person to kick that off. Excellent series. You know, it's Women's History Month. So I was honored to be part of that Being series. They always feature great women on there. So it was just nice for me to be part of that. So thank you to everybody who participated as well. Make sure you check out Being Angela. You can see it now digitally also on BET.com. Well, you guys be safe out there. Like I said, and Charlemagne, you got a positive note? Yeah, man, my positive note. And if everybody that's at home, I want
Starting point is 01:24:44 y'all to read The Seven Spiritual Law laws of success by Deepak Chopra. Or you can listen to it on Audible. On Audible, it's like an hour, 20 minutes. And it's a real quick read as well. But it's a really good book to read during these times. And Deepak Chopra says you accept things as they are, not as you wish they were in this moment. This is important to understand. You can wish for things in the future to be different. But in this moment, you have to accept things as they are, period. And if you cannot accept things as they are, you are ready. And if you can accept things as they are, you are ready to take responsibility for your situation and for all the events you see as problems.
