Starting point is 00:00:00 Had enough of this country? Ever dreamt about starting your own? I planted the flag. This is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Or maybe not. No country willingly gives up their territory. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:00:16 What is that? Bullets. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. We need help! That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast
Starting point is 00:00:46 Post Run High is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, y'all. Niminy here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and John Glickman, Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone.
Starting point is 00:01:30 The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did
Starting point is 00:01:45 the same thing. Check it. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records because in order to make history you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. 50% righteousness. I love you. 50% ratchetedness.
Starting point is 00:02:19 I don't ratchet, just sit down. I don't like 95% ratchetedness. Becoming the most prominent form for his life. Wake your ass up. It's early in the morning, but they tell me it was y'all. I say, oh, hell yeah, I'm getting up. The world's most dangerous morning show. DJ Envy.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Your people's choice. Angela Yee. I'm a sweetheart, but I'll cut you. Charlamagne Tha God. Principals and people's owners. I can't believe you guys are the best, kid. Collectively known as Breakfast Club, bitches. Good morning, USA.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Hey, fam. Good morning. What's up, ye? Guess what day it is. Guess what day it is. Hump Day. No, it's not Hump Day. It's Jay-Z's birthday. It is also Hump Day. Yes, it's not Hump Day. It's Jay-Z's birthday.
Starting point is 00:03:06 It is also Hump Day. Yes, it is also Hump Day. But today is Jay-Z's birthday. The Hove, the goat, turns 50 today. Happy birthday, Jay-Z. Wow, wow, wow, wow. All right, happy birthday, Jay-Z. I walked in today, you know, Eddie, our producer.
Starting point is 00:03:19 You got a million bucks. Eddie, our producer. I said, yo, we're going to play a Jay-Z joint every hour. He was like, why? I said, we did it for Diddy's birthday. He says, Hove's not 50. I said, yes, he is. to play a Jay-Z joint every hour. He was like, why? I said, we did it for Diddy's birthday. He says, Hov's not 50. I said, yes, he is. We got to do it for Hov, too.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Okay. What's up, Ye? What's up? What's up? Let me send a congratulations to one of my wife's best friends. Her name is Ingrid. She had her first baby today or this morning. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:03:43 So it's weird. You know, you sleep with your wife every night. So this morning... I don't. Oh, well, I know you don't. A lot of people don't, but they don't sleep with my wife. I was with my wife, and usually when I wake up,
Starting point is 00:03:52 I roll over to her. A lot of people. So this morning I rolled up, and she wasn't there. I got scared. I said, what the... And then I remembered she was at the hospital. Well, congratulations, Ingrid.
Starting point is 00:03:59 She had a baby boy. So congratulations to Ingrid. Give her a round of applause. Yay. All right. Well, yesterday I went to go see Sir perform. Oh, how was that? Oh, it was amazing. He's to Ingrid. Give her a round of applause. Yay. Alright, well yesterday I went to go see Sir perform. Oh, how was that? Oh, it was amazing. He's a great performer. So it was nice
Starting point is 00:04:09 to be out. It was a sold out show. It was packed. It was crazy. And you know, his brother D Smoke got up there and performed with him. Also SZA was there. Okay. She said she I guess due to weather she was stuck here because she's from New Jersey. Right, right, right. So she came out with her mom.
Starting point is 00:04:25 That's dope. That's nice. So it was nice. It was a good night. You know, I don't go out like late at night if I can help it. But I was like, I can't not go. Like, he's in Brooklyn. That's dope.
Starting point is 00:04:35 You know, I want to see Sir perform. It's my type of vibe. So shout out to Baby Sam also for inviting me and Gio. That's pretty dope. And also, you know, of course, it's Christmas time. It's the time of giving. So every year what we do is I get these notes from kids of things they want for Christmas.
Starting point is 00:04:50 So yesterday I got five notes from five different kids in Queens. And I'm reading the list and I'm thinking I'm going to see dolls. I'm going to see Legos. I'm going to see this. I heard you reading the list. You heard me, right?
Starting point is 00:05:01 Like kids were asking for socks. They were asking for pants and asking for shirts, asking for Nikes. I was like, wow. Like, as a kid, and these were 7-year-olds, 8-year-olds, 6-year-olds. I'm like, don't you want a doll? You know, an Avengers Lego set? So I felt really bad last night.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Like, I felt really, like, for a kid to ask for socks. It's Christmas time, and you're asking somebody, can you just give me a pair of socks? I felt really, really bad. So I got them the Legos, the socks, the pants. I got everything. That's dope. So I was very excited about that.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I'm going to do more of that, not just in Christmas time, throughout the year for kids that need something that they just might not have. And just answer their letters. It doesn't have to come from me or say it comes from me,
Starting point is 00:05:41 but just to send a box to the house with all that stuff was pretty dope. So I had to mail it out. And I think actually shipping all that stuff out might have cost just as much as buying all the stuff. Well, you should have did all the free shipping stuff.
Starting point is 00:05:52 You do it online and send it directly to them. It's not free. Yeah, it is. They did a lot of free shipping. It was Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday, by the way, was the biggest shopping day in Amazon's history. You could have got free shipping on everything.
Starting point is 00:06:05 I should have thought of that. I went to the store mall and bought everything. Put them in different boxes and sent them out. And they'll wrap it for you and everything. It's a gift. I definitely didn't wrap it now. Yeah, but it really helped you. It came kind of. I put it in a Home Depot box and I put all the stuff in the box and I just sent it out. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Alright, well let's get the show cracking. The Simmons kids will be joining us this morning. Angela, Vanessa, and JoJo, they'll be joining us this morning, of course from Growing Up Hip Hop. So we gotta talk to them in a little bit. And then we got front page news. What are we talking about, Yee? Well, Kamala Harris has ended her 2020 presidential
Starting point is 00:06:38 campaign. I think we could feel that this was about to happen. Yeah, we've seen it coming. And did you call Kid Capri back, Eddie? All right, Kid Capri hit me yesterday. He was pretty upset with you, Eddie. Making sure. All right, well, let's get into a Hov joint.
Starting point is 00:06:51 It's Hov's birthday. It's public service announcement. Happy birthday, Hov! It's the Breakfast Club. Leave me alone. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get into some front page news. Where do we start,vy Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get
Starting point is 00:07:05 in some front page news. Where we start with Yee? Well, let's start with Kamala Harris. She has ended her 2020 presidential campaign. As we know, she was having a lot of financial issues as far as fundraising and she was having issues within her own staff. People saying that they were treated poorly. If you remember, one of her aides actually quit and wrote a letter about that. She launched her campaign, though, to high expectations, and she's had high numbers, and she actually already had qualified for the December debates, so people were a little shocked that she left this early.
Starting point is 00:07:37 But they said, you know, it's actually good for her to regroup, restructure, and also make sure that she doesn't have a poor showing in her own home state because that would have looked really bad for her and probably would have had longer lasting political consequences. Now she did release this video. So here's the deal, guys. My campaign for president simply does not have the financial resources to continue. I'm not a billionaire. I can't fund my own campaign. And as the campaign has gone on, it has become harder and harder to raise the money we need to compete. My dear supporters, it is with deep regret, but also with deep gratitude that I am suspending our campaign today. But I want to be clear with you. I am still very much in this fight.
Starting point is 00:08:21 And I will keep fighting every day for what this campaign has been about. Justice for the people. I mean, I would have loved to see Kamala run against Donald Trump. I really like her. I love the fact that she's aggressive. I know a lot of people were mad at her because she was a prosecutor and couldn't get over the things that she did as a prosecutor, which was prosecuting criminals. I just thought she was great, and I love the fact that she gave hope to a lot of African-American young girls out there, the fact that they can look at somebody and be like, wow, I can be president.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Like, my son can look at somebody and say, hey, I can be president like Barack Obama. I really like that. I wish I had billions of dollars, because I definitely would support her. So would that have been the person that you would have wanted to see win? I mean, I was going Democrat regardless, but I would have loved to see her go against Trump. I mean, as far as the nominee, you would have backed Kamala Harris over everybody else.
Starting point is 00:09:08 I would back any Democrat, but I definitely would have backed Kamala Harris, yes. All right, now, she also, Donald Trump tweeted out, of course, he said, too bad, we will miss you, Kamala. And she responded, don't worry, Mr. President, I'll see you at your trial. Yeah, she wants that smoke. And, you know, I really feel like she would have had, she would have got that smoke with Donald Trump. It wouldn't have been easy for Donald Trump just to walk all over her. Well, as she said, that she will still continue to be working.
Starting point is 00:09:33 And she said, I'm still very much in this fight. She'll be fighting every day for what the campaign has been about, justice for the people. How is Cory Booker's numbers? His numbers were lower than hers. So he's still in it, though. So we'll see. And he's also got this HBCU plan right now
Starting point is 00:09:49 that he's been talking about that we'll get more into as well. But he has a $100 billion plan for HBCUs. Okay. Alright, now also I thought this was interesting. A winning lottery ticket for $14.6 million just went unclaimed in Arizona. Can you imagine?
Starting point is 00:10:05 Tickets expire after 180 days. Now, that winning ticket was sold June 5th in Goodyear, Arizona. So that person had until December 2nd at 5 p.m. to claim the prize, and the deadline came and went. So now that $14.6 million is just out there somewhere. You know, I'm one of those people. If I go to a gas station and I see the lotto's a lot of money, I might just buy five tickets and keep it moving,
Starting point is 00:10:27 and then I always forget to check it. I put it in my glove box or I put it in my car somewhere, and then I always forget about it. I mean, I don't live in Arizona, but I definitely could have won some money before and not claimed it. Absolutely. That's a weird thing to do. Let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:10:41 I'll be checking them numbers online immediately as they get released. Because sometimes you might pick up a ticket on a Tuesday and the drawing's Thursday, so you forget about it and it's in your car. I set my alarm for everything. I set an alarm. Alright, well that is your Front Page News. Alright, get it off your chest. 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:10:58 If you need to vent, hit us up right now. Maybe you had a bad night, horrible morning, or maybe you feel blessed. 800-585-1051. Get it off your chest. Hit us up right now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:11:09 The Breakfast Club. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this.
Starting point is 00:11:24 It's surprisingly easy. There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson the First, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. Well, why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets.

Starting point is 00:15:07 He's the only one screaming. How old is he? He's seven weeks. Oh, yeah, you can't. You just got to let him scream. You just got to give him some milk. He probably just wants some milk or you got to change his pamper. Yeah, well, I was just calling because I am blessed and highly favored.
Starting point is 00:15:21 I want to spread positivity, tell everyone to go into their day with a smile on their face, stop tapping their step. And, you know, always try to find the good in everything that happens. Okay. Good. I agree with that. There's always a positive side to every lesson that you learn when things don't go the way you expect. Yes.

Starting point is 00:15:54 This is Lisa. Hey, good morning, Lisa. Get it off your chest. Morning. I just wanted to say, DJ Envy, you are doing a fabulous job with your seminar. I went to the seminar in Houston, but I just want to know, I live in Dallas, though. Are you going to do one in Dallas? Yeah, I think we're going to do one in Dallas this year.
Starting point is 00:16:14 We're going to do a lot of markets that we weren't able to touch. So many people have been hitting me. They've been getting overcharged for real estate knowledge. So the fact that we can help people in those markets, we're definitely going to try. So, yes, to answer your question, we will be in Dallas. And let me shout out ProStyle. ProStyle, he works at our station here in New York City, Power 105. He picked up his first investment home yesterday,
Starting point is 00:16:35 a three-family that we helped him with. So shout out to ProStyle. I love to see people really investing and creating generational wealth for their family. Did you get your property yet? Did you buy a property yet? No, not yet. I'm still looking.
Starting point is 00:16:47 I'm on action.com as we speak right now. But, yeah, I'm looking. And actually on the news this morning, they said here that our properties were going to be limited because people are holding on to their homes much longer and that we got this big surge of people coming here and they're just buying up property like crazy. So I got to get in the mix.
Starting point is 00:17:11 You guys are right. Yeah, I'm looking right now. But yeah, Angela, I'm sorry I missed your lip service when you came to Dallas. Oh, that's okay. It was a good time, but I'm sure we'll be back.

Starting point is 00:22:06 And everybody don't go to college. They always donate to HBCU. A lot of these HBCUs is now predominantly white. I don't know if y'all know that. I don't know what HBCUs that you're checking out, but when I do my tour, which I do every year, and I hit up FAMU, North Carolina, Honest State, or it's Hampton, or it's Howard, or it's Morgan,
Starting point is 00:22:26 or it's any of those schools. When I go to those schools, it's not nowhere near. Yeah, I don't think that's an accurate number that you just threw out there. Yeah, to be honest, it's half-white. It's other people from other cities that's coming in that don't go to college that you see at these probably concerts and all these little events they be throwing. Nah, I don't know what you're talking about, sir.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Yeah, I don't think that's it. I don't think that's correct. There are more white students going to HBCUs. It ain't no half. It ain't half, bro. Come to Harmony State. You'll be shocked. This ain't the 90s no more.
Starting point is 00:22:57 I'm looking right now. It says 13% are white, 3% are Hispanic, and 1% are Asian. I went to Hampton. All the white students were in the row class. Are you in the rowing class, sir? No, I'm not. All right. Well, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:09 It says within HBCUs, 83 percent of students are African American. I don't know where. You got to come there. You'll see it. How old are you? How old are you, bro? I'm 27 years old. 27?

Starting point is 00:23:30 You've seen the cannons going to Howard. Yeah, you're right. Hello, who's this? Hey, good morning. Peace and blessings, guys. How you guys doing? Hey, Porter.
Starting point is 00:23:38 No. Oh, my goodness. Sean Stone, how are you? I'm sorry. Hey, Angela E. Thanks for always remembering my name, man. I've been calling this radio station for 10 years. And for six of those years, you've been Port-A-Potty guy, man.

Starting point is 00:24:10 yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, I had two questions for y'all, man. I've been doing public interviews on my YouTube channel. So I wanted to know if you or Angela can name all 12 Zodiac signs. All the Zodiac signs? Yeah, it's 12 of them. No, I can't. Of course you can. I can't. I'm not into Zodiac signs. I know Virgo.
Starting point is 00:24:38 That's all I know. I know I'm a Capricorn. My family, Libras, Scorpio, Aries, Pisces, Gemini. What did I forget? Aquarius. Sagitt, Libras, Scorpio, Aries, Pisces, Gemini. What did I forget? Aquarius. Sagittarius. Sagittarius. I don't know how many that is.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Man, I got a second question. Scorpio. Yeah, you know, we pay attention to that because you got to figure out who can you date according to what their sign is. I've been married. Abby, did you cut your hair? Huh? Did you cut your hair? Yeah, a little bit.
Starting point is 00:25:04 A little bit. Trimmed it up a little bit. You like it? You like it? It looks weird in the front. You like it? She hating. What's up, bro?
Starting point is 00:25:09 Go ahead. What's the other question? What's what? Would you like better weed or alcohol? Hmm. It depends. Depends where I'm at and what I'm doing. I'm going to say I like drinking better than smoking.
Starting point is 00:25:26 It depends where I'm at. Depends. Smoking makes me sleepy. Well, thank you, bro. Hello, who's this? Good morning, Angela. Good morning. Oh.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Yeah, yeah. Hold on, hold on. Yo, I'm blessed with stage time in Bridgeport, Connecticut tonight, yo. Okay, so you got to, this is our resident comedian, Snack Man. This is your resident comedian. He didn't even speak to me. He just speaks to you. What do you want, Snack Man? This is your resident comedian. He didn't even speak to me, he just speaks to you. What do you want, Snack Man?
Starting point is 00:25:47 Nah, I just want to let you know that I'm going to be, I got stage time tonight, yo. Where at? Tell everybody the venue. All I care about is telling you, Angela, it's at the Stress Factory. Okay, the Stress Factory. They're going to boo you tonight, bro. So tell us how you're going to open up. Nah, nah, nah, nah, this is my jam, yo.
Starting point is 00:26:02 How are you going to open the show? Yeah, yo, I'm going to do my nuns joke, my consistency joke, the court date joke, flexible bursts, and Ray Rice jokes, my box series, both my dentist jokes, and I'm going to insert the BYOB joke somewhere. All right. All right. Well, good luck, Snack Man. What about the other joke that we like that you call up and do?
Starting point is 00:26:22 Yeah, stay tuned. That joke. Oh, man. he's kind of like the Joker. Yeah, right? Get it off your chest. Remember when the Joker did stand-up? 585-105-1. He just liked the Joker. You got rumors on the way? Yes, you know, it's Jay-Z's birthday, so we'll
Starting point is 00:26:35 tell you something that he did to celebrate his 50th birthday. Alright, we'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ, MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. It's Ho's birthday.
Starting point is 00:26:52 We playing other artists. How dare you guys? All right, well, let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Jay-Z. It's about time. What's going on? Rumor report. Rumor report.
Starting point is 00:27:03 This is The Rumor Report. Talk to Report. This is the Rumor Report. Talk to them. With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Yeah, you guys should look at the trending hashtag Whole50. There's so many different facts about Jay-Z, and he's 50 years old today, as we know. And another thing that happened today is he has released his entire catalog to Spotify for his 50th birthday. So you no longer have to just have that title subscription to listen to his entire catalog to Spotify for his 50th birthday. So you no longer have to just have that title subscription to listen
Starting point is 00:27:28 to his back catalog online. In honor of his birthday, he put his entire discography on Spotify. Well, happy birthday to Hov, man. He's a legend. I think he's the greatest of all time, in my opinion. I think he's the best that ever did it. It's kind of where I got my start with the mixtape
Starting point is 00:27:44 game, because I used to do all the Rockefeller mixtapes. So shout to Hov, shout to Big, shout to Dame, shout to Lenny S, shout to G Robeson. I appreciate those guys over there. You want to shout out Tata? Oh, Tata, Hip Hop, and all of them as well. Memphis Bleak? Okay, you want me to shout out the whole Rockefeller?
Starting point is 00:27:57 Yeah, go ahead. Keep going. Shout out Emery? Memphis Bleak, Emery. Oh, man. That's all I got for right now. Okay. All right. Just checking.
Starting point is 00:28:05 All right. Now, since we That's all I got for right now. Okay. All right. Just checking. All right. Now, since we're doing things Jay-Z related, in other news, Damon Dash, he is able to come up with that entire $950,000. Because, as you know, Lee Daniels owed him some money. So now he's going to use that money from Lee Daniels that Lee Daniels owed him to pay for his child support. So that's how he's managed to come up with the settlement plan. And there you have it. You know, that was a settlement over a $5 million lawsuit that Damon Dash had filed against Lee Daniels. And so now they'll be paid in full thanks to that money he's owed.
Starting point is 00:28:37 I'm happy for Damon. I'm happy with what Damon's doing. He has a website that I know that just launched that's doing pretty well. He has a streaming service. He has grown-up hip-hop. And we do have the Simmons kids on today. Yes, we do. So I'm happy for Dave. Alright, now, and more Jay-Z related
Starting point is 00:28:49 news, people around him. Beyonce's dad, Matthew Knowles, he's letting people know that before there was Destiny's Child, there was another group called Girls' Time, and he was on TMZ Live. He was talking about the new book he has and the Girls' Time album that he just released.
Starting point is 00:29:06 And here's what he had to say about it. They had performances but never released music. Yes, that's accurate. They were on Star Search, which is equivalent to American Idol, in 1992. And they had an album but never put this out. I actually bought the master to this project in the early 2000s. And I did that because I didn't want
Starting point is 00:29:30 it interfering with Destiny's Child work. But we're now putting that out. But I also put out yesterday the book, Destiny's Child The Untold Story. Yeah, so the Girls Time was a group that was pre-Destiny's Child and it had more than 30 members.
Starting point is 00:29:45 And so they were on Star Search, and he had music, and he owns the masters to the music, and so that's out now. And then he also has the book. I wonder how Beyonce and the girls feel about that. I didn't see them post it. You know, that's the thing. It's like, you gotta get to a point where it's like, that's your daughter. Do you care about your daughter and how she feels and how her career is? And do you care if she would even want that out? Like, I hope I never get to a situation where I'm just doing stuff that my daughter might not like
Starting point is 00:30:09 or my daughter might not appreciate. I'm sure you've done that. No, definitely haven't. Definitely. Definitely haven't. But, like, you get to the point where Matthew knows you managed him. You should be fine. Well, maybe he's had a conversation.
Starting point is 00:30:18 I don't know. Like, maybe he did say, I'm doing this. You know, I would like, who knows? It seems like to me, and it's just to me, it seems like Rihanna's dad and Beyonce's dad always does the most. It just seems like that to me. But we, again, don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Like, I know with Matthew Knowles,
Starting point is 00:30:34 maybe he did talk to them. And then, you know, he did have his breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year that he talked about. And here's what he, oh, oh, before that, though, I'm sorry. Let's play this Girl' Time snippet, one of the songs from the album he just put out. Oh, boy. Put it in the mix, baby.
Starting point is 00:30:52 This sounds straight 80s. Well, it's old. Oh, my goodness. Hey! Have a slumber party We'll be a little naughty Turn up my mustaries And turn up all the lights Play some silly games And have a pillow fight There's a reason why they didn't want that out. There was a reason why it never came out.
Starting point is 00:31:16 That was trash. That sounds straight up and down. I'm sure at that time it might have went. That time it might have been popping. That didn't make you want to have a slumber party and a pillow fight? Some girls time? might have went. That time it might have been popping. Yeah. That didn't make you want to have a slumber party and a pillow fight? No. Some girls time?
Starting point is 00:31:26 No. All right. Well, he also talks about his cancer-free diagnosis on TMZ Live, and here's what he said. I found this extremely early why I focus more on telling folks about the benefits of early detection. Today, gratefully, I'm cancer-free today. I love that conversation. I love talking to men about, you know, checking themselves early to make sure they can prevent cancer,
Starting point is 00:31:49 but releasing music and doing books, why? I mean, he owned a master, so I guess he had the right to do it, and he decided to do it. I don't know. People look at family differently. Like, if you're my family, I don't want to do nothing to hurt you, to upset you, to piss you off. Maybe she's not upset.
Starting point is 00:32:03 I don't know. She would have posted it. She would have been like, check out my dad's new book. This is my dad's new book. Go support it and buy it. Let me go look at her page and see because she don't post much. All right. I'm Angela Yee and that is your rumor report. All right. Guess whose birthday it is?
Starting point is 00:32:16 Shout out to my friend Aaron Burke. Happy birthday, girl. No, I'm talking about Jay-Z. When we come back, we got front page news and we're going to play Jay-Z Big Pimpin'. Of course got front page news. And we're going to play Jay-Z, Big Pimpin'. Of course, Pimp C is on that. Rest in peace to Pimp C. Today is the anniversary of his passing.
Starting point is 00:32:30 So when we come, we're going to play Top of the Hour. Then we're going to play Big Pimpin'. And let me know your favorite Hov joints. We're going to be playing Hov joints all morning long. Let's go. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 00:32:40 It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news. Where we starting with Yee? And before you do that, I just want to, since you talked about Pimp C, I saw that Bum B just did a UGK New Era hat. The first recipient was Meg Thee Stallion. Oh, that's pretty dope.
Starting point is 00:32:57 I just saw him post it, that's why. That's dope. And you were playing that at the same time. All right, now, Carmelo Anthony, let's discuss an interview that he did with ESPN's Rachel Nichols. It aired yesterday, and he was talking about how he was really ready to walk away from the NBA. What did you hear about yourself?
Starting point is 00:33:14 Selfish, bad teammate, bad locker room guy. Early, that was, that's what was, you know, that was cutting deep, and it was just like, why? And I have prepared myself to kind of just walk away from the game if the right situation didn't come about i mean because it's hard like waking up every morning not knowing what to expect not knowing what to do not knowing what to work on
Starting point is 00:33:35 you know wanting to give up hope wanting to give up faith and belief and just like you know just forget this whole basketball thing. That is dope, isn't it? That is amazing. Portland Trailblazers, and he's also saying that he's looking forward to Friday's game against the Lakers. Yes. Because you'll be playing LeBron. I just want to say from the start, I told you that Carmelo was good enough to be in the league. I told you guys that the league was doing him dirty.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Everybody who came up here who had a little influence, I always asked about Carmelo. I'm happy he's playing. I'm happy he's doing well. I just really wish that he would have went back to the Knicks because I'm a Knicks fan, but that's okay. That's okay. I don't know. Was he happy on the Knicks? No.
Starting point is 00:34:13 So why would you wish that on him? I just think he just wanted to play at that point. He just wanted to play, and I think he's good enough as he's showing that he can play and he can compete, and he's a starter. He's not a seventh man or eighth man. The boy's ball. Okay, Envy Lala. Now Cyber
Starting point is 00:34:27 Monday was the biggest shopping day in Amazon's history. So, like, you know how amazing that is because obviously Amazon's had so many sales throughout history. Hundreds of millions of dollars. They said Tuesday shoppers ordered hundreds of millions of products between Thanksgiving and Monday.
Starting point is 00:34:44 They said that customers bought more items around the world on Monday than on any other day in Amazon's two decades of existence. They said shoppers ordered a record number of Amazon devices over the past four days. The Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick 4K were among the most popular items. Wow. So there you have it. Okay. You know what they say were some of the most popular things
Starting point is 00:35:07 that people were buying in general in the United States? What, drones? I'm sure the Apple, the pods, the AirPods, right? They said a DNA kit from 23andMe. Really? It was one of the top items. Wow, okay. The Instant Pot Duo 80.
Starting point is 00:35:21 I don't know what that is. I'm going to have to look that up. Instant Pot, mm-mm. LOL Surprise Toys and the iRobot Roomba. And they said the fashion items had its biggest sales day ever globally with a Carhartt beanie hat and a champion hoodie was the most popular as well. Okay. And they got, you know, the iRobot, the little robot vacuum thing. I have one of those.
Starting point is 00:35:38 They got to stop the commercials where the guy sits on it. But my son got in trouble. My son went to my grandfather. We went to my grandparents at their grandparents' house. And he sat on it and tried to ride around. And my pops almost back slapped him so crazy.
Starting point is 00:35:49 He was like, what are you doing? And my son was like, I seen it on TV. You better not do that. So they got to watch them commercials because kids do those things.
Starting point is 00:35:55 I saw a story about one of those vacuum cleaners actually sucking up a cat. Like the cat didn't move out of the way. Yeah. And the hotel got caught. They had to like
Starting point is 00:36:04 do an emergency. Really? Yeah. The hotel and the cat was like move out of the way. Yeah, and the hotel got caught. They had to like do an emergency. Really? Yeah, the hotel. And the cat was like stuck in the vacuum. That'll teach the cat. So that's just a little tip for you guys. If you have pets in the house, maybe put them up when you use the robot vacuum cleaner. Goodness gracious.
Starting point is 00:36:16 That'll learn them. Poor little pussy cat. All right. You just wanted to say that word. No, I didn't. We're not going to talk about Kamala Harris? Yeah, we can. I don't know if we had time. We do. Well, Kamala Harris has actually dropped out of the campaign to be
Starting point is 00:36:29 president in 2020. She has ended that 2020 presidential campaign and she released this video. And I will keep fighting every day for what this campaign has been about. Justice for the people. Remember Kamala Harris actually launched her campaign on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January.
Starting point is 00:37:15 And, of course, Donald Trump weighed in. He said, too bad, we will miss you, Kamala. And she said, don't worry, Mr. President, I'll see you at your trial. But finances were a large reason why she had to actually end her campaign bid. As you heard her say herself, they said the campaign had only reserved less than $10,000 for a digital ad it was talking about. And they actually ended up canceling that ad, never releasing it online. And she had closed down a lot of her campaign offices. So clearly finances played a huge part.
Starting point is 00:37:43 She's definitely a friend to the room and I wish her the best. I definitely wish she would have ran against Trump. I definitely would have supported her. What did you think about Kamala? I wasn't completely sold on Kamala Harris. I actually haven't made up my mind who I'm going to support yet. So there's different times that I've liked different people and then something happens and you're like, I don't know about that person.
Starting point is 00:38:03 So I have been paying a lot of attention to the debates and what everybody's saying. And what I care most about is people's policies. I know we spend a lot of time discussing what they've done in the past and this happened and what they did wrong. But I don't think there's any politician that hasn't made bad decisions or signed a bill that people don't agree with every single aspect of it. But I just like to know how people are responding, how they plan to move forward and what are those actionable steps they're going to take to make sure that we are in a better state than we're in right now. Okay. All right. Yeah, I don't have a solid person yet.
Starting point is 00:38:33 All right. Well, that's front page news. Now, when we come back from Growing Up Hip Hop, Angela, Vanessa, and JoJo Simmons will be joining us. So we'll kick it with them when we come back. And also, Charlamagne is not coming in, I guess. He's not coming in? No. He changed his mind. He changed his mind, I guess. All right.
Starting point is 00:38:47 So, Donkey of the Day. Let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. If you want to give somebody Donkey of the Day, Charlamagne is out. So we're going to open up the phone lines.
Starting point is 00:38:56 You can give Donkey of the Day to whoever you want. Phone lines are open, all right? 800-585-1051. And we'll be back with Angela, Vanessa, and JoJo Simmons from Growing Up Hip Hop. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same.
Starting point is 00:39:11 Tomorrow at 8, only on VH1, it's the season premiere of Black Ink Crew Chicago. Ryan is facing a new threat that's blowing in from across the pond, and ink is about to get real. Black Ink Crew Chicago premieres tonight at eight on vh1 the breakfast club is your country falling apart feeling tired depressed a little bit revolutionary consider this start your own country i planted the flag i just kind of looked out of like this is mine i own this it's surprisingly easy there's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete.

Be part of a great colonial tradition. Why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves.
Starting point is 00:40:02 What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. Starting point is 00:42:33 Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was Claudette Colvin. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Shalameen the guy, we are The Breakfast Club. We got some special guests in the building from Growing Up Hip Hop, JoJo, Vanessa, and Angela Simmons. Welcome guys. Hello. Thank you, good morning. There's a lot going on in this family. Yeah, always. First, congratulations JoJo on getting married.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Appreciate it, appreciate it. Congratulations. Thank you, thank you. Angela, congratulations on the baby. The baby's three years later. Three, congratulations on the baby. Three years later? I haven't seen you in that long. And Vanessa, congratulations on everything you're doing. I see you're a party
Starting point is 00:43:31 promoter, party planner now. I'm a party Oh God. Yeah. I've seen the first episode. It happened this season. I don't know how I got into that, but yeah. I'm apparently a party planner. Let's get right into it, because what we've been waiting for on every single season of growing up hip-hop And it felt like it was about to happen
Starting point is 00:43:49 Angela and Romeo. It wasn't about to happen. It felt like last season No, maybe it felt like that, but I know it wasn't about to be that. This trailer's getting good She tried to plan a date right a Double date for her and Romeo to go out and she was gonna hook him up with somebody and he didn't want to go because really he wanted to go out with Angela that was kind of weird too because he just didn't show up that's probably where it all went wrong I mean not gonna lie to you I just thought it was a good idea we weren't really dating in real life so I was like okay cool like we filming this like let's just do like a fun double date thing like we both single and
Starting point is 00:44:23 then he really didn't show up like I, I was sitting there waiting, filming, and I was like, oh, you really had me drive all the way over here to a skating rink for this and you just don't show up? So would you date him? I mean, like, I... I mean, like, is not a good answer. That's a no.
Starting point is 00:44:39 I've known Romeo, like, since, what, L.A.? Like, moving out to L.A. for a while. We all have history. Yeah, but, like, we didn't really date like that. Like what's like that? Like we were like cool like we hung a lot. See how she about to put her arm around me like we were like What did y'all kiss? Y'all dated if y'all kissed. No but it wasn't like that like Like, it was very, like... It was a kiss on the forehead?
Starting point is 00:45:06 It just wasn't like that. It was a good night. We had a good time, a good run. It wasn't like that, like that. And then, I don't know, we started working together more, like, recently on the show. And then this season, things just kind of went left. South. But you texted him a couple of times.
Starting point is 00:45:21 No, yeah, so, like... He didn't get you back. He was kind of mad about that. So, we're producing partners first, too. So after everything happened with me and my child's father and what happened with my son, he was like, I'm going to be there for you. And he said this on TV. So I was like, yo, if you say that, and I don't care if we film or not, really mean that.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Correct. Because that really means a lot to me, especially what I have on my plate. And to me, he didn't step up at all. And I'm like, I don't expect nobody to do nothing for me. Whatever, it's fine. But he didn't step up. And so we got around time to film, and I't step up at all. And I'm like, I don't expect nobody to do nothing for me. Like, whatever, it's fine. But he didn't step up. And then so we got around time to film, and I hadn't heard from him. So I'm like, let me hit him up, you know, see what's going on,
Starting point is 00:45:51 what we doing this season. Silence. I'm like, okay. This dude's on Instagram, shirt off. I'm like, all right, let me DM him because he's clearly at the gym. Well, you said shirt off, so that means you were checking him out. No, this is because he's always doing this. That's the worst.
Starting point is 00:46:07 When you text somebody and then you see they didn't hit you back, but they're on Instagram. But you're like this. So I'm like, yo, like, let me hit him. So I DM him. Silence. I'm like, okay, this is weird. So next thing you know, I'm asking people in the production, like, did y'all hear from Romeo?
Starting point is 00:46:18 Because he's not responding to me. They're like, oh yeah, we heard from him. He did the same with your sister. And I'm like, oh, okay, bad. And it's about you. And I was like, oh, so we talking about me like on TV, but we heard from him. He did a scene with your sister. And I'm like, oh, okay, bad. And it's about you. And I was like, oh, so we talking about me on TV but we can't respond. And I don't even get like this. I don't talk about people publicly
Starting point is 00:46:31 but I feel like this is the route he wanted to go. I still haven't heard from him to this day. What? To this day. And y'all work together so that's different too. I haven't. We've been in the same room and I haven't heard from him. I tried to bring them together. He's talked to her. He got JoJo upset as you can see. It's not like this is something that's together. He's talked to her. He got JoJo upset, as you can see. It's not like this is something that's
Starting point is 00:46:47 fake. What's he mad about? Maybe I should have him up here and find out, because I don't know. But you were planning his party, Vanessa. Yes. And you didn't invite your sister? I invited my sister. He said he didn't know. He brought me to his house to tell me how he felt about everything and
Starting point is 00:47:03 said he wanted me to plan his party. And i was like who's invited and he he don't like who i'm dating he don't like we don't want to give away the whole episode well he doesn't like who you're dating well y'all gonna find out it's a lot but i'm just saying like it's very real what's happening though but to me it was more hurtful than anything like maybe he likes you and the fact you're dating somebody that he doesn't approve of is making him feel the way. But I ain't dating nobody. I'm single. You just said who you was dating.
Starting point is 00:47:30 No, but he's saying the people that he thinks that I'm mingling with if I've been on dates. Oh, you in the car posting when you with another guy. It's not that serious. Yeah, I'm single, and if I date and I choose to post anything, that's on me. But I'm very private about my dating life, so no one even really knows when I am dating someone unless I want it to be known. You said you go on one date on this last season. Yeah, yeah, but that was like, you know,
Starting point is 00:47:51 it was different, but anyway, it's, yeah, it's weird. Well, let's talk sisterhood then, since we want to talk about. Oh, wait, before we do that, let's just say, let's just play. Now, if I liked her, right, and I felt I was attracted to her
Starting point is 00:48:04 and I wanted to date her, and I felt she was attracted to her and I wanted to date her, and I felt she was dating some lames, I might feel a way, too. Because if I didn't like her and I didn't care, then who would care? But if I felt the way and I liked her and I see you dating some lames and I think it's some whack dudes, I might feel a way. But would you have a conversation? Are you going to be like a little boy and not say nothing? But what do I got to do with it? Why do you got to come to me?
Starting point is 00:48:23 Or maybe Romeo still has a crush on Vanessa. No, I don't think that that's ever a thing. Goodness gracious, you just gonna break up this family. That's just too much. Are you talking about having his big boy pants? Are you talking about having his big boy pants? Well, because I feel like you're going about it in like a little boy
Starting point is 00:48:40 way. Not because you know like any other time you could text me, you could call me and you're mad because I'm not answering certain things. Like you text me, I respond. If you ask a one-on-one question, if you send in Bible verses out, okay, I digest it. Do I have to respond to it? Do I have to every time?
Starting point is 00:48:55 I mean, it was so much. I have a lot of friends. I usually do, but I have a lot of friends that send mass text prayers stuff out. I just double tap. That's my response. It's a double tap. I would say thank you because I usually do.
Starting point is 00:49:11 So people who are just listening out there, if you don't know, Romeo sends out these Bible quotes every Sunday. Right. And he expects the people that he sends them to to respond. Vanessa usually responds with an amen. Thank you. JoJo responds with a gotcha. Or a double tap. Or a double JoJo responds with a gotcha. Thumbs up.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Or a double tap. Or a double tap. And Angela just does nothing. You can ask a couple of my friends to send me Bible verses. You know, sometimes it hits home. Oh, this is right up my alley. I read it. Okay, cool.
Starting point is 00:49:36 It's not that it didn't hit home, but like it's like his Bible notes. And sometimes I hit the heart when we on Instagram because he'll send them on there too. Church notes. And I hit the little button. And sometimes I just don't. Like I might wake up, my son's doing, oh Jesus, alright read it. Put it down and keep it moving. And what's up? What'd you think? Because I thought this was really for you
Starting point is 00:49:58 today. I might, then I'm going to respond. It's a group text. So in a group text you're not obligated. All 36 of them she didn't answer. Nah, I said I'd respond to some. After a while, I just started realizing that it was like, at first I thought it was very personal, like when he first started. And I was like, oh, that's really nice. And I was like, wait a minute, everyone's getting this.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Okay, cool. We got more with Angela, Vanessa, and JoJo Simmons from Growing Up Hip Hop. So don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. EJ, Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now from Growing Up Hip Hop, we have Angela, Vanessa, and JoJo Simmons here.
Starting point is 00:50:29 So, JoJo, you wanted to put the pause on them. Nah, it wasn't. I mean, the way that the episode looked and the trailer looked like that, y'all were really into it, really arguing, really beefing. But see, you know, obviously editing and all that other good stuff. But it was no physical going to happen. It was more I was annoyed because I was leaving it alone. I'm a protector of my sisters, but overall my family.
Starting point is 00:50:49 But I wasn't even really worried about the situation until he had came up to me in the scene. I'm not going to talk about it much, but he came up to me in the scene, and I kind of felt pressed about it. Like, you're pressing me, and you're telling me I'm not married to your sister and all that stuff. Like, she's, like, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's the other way around almost. So I kind of got. Like, I'm pressed. Yeah, like, she's, like, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's the other way around almost. So I kind of got... Like, I'm pressed. Yeah, like, so I kind of got annoyed.
Starting point is 00:51:06 I'm just like, that's when you see me kind of saying, like, oh, are you scared to talk to you? Come and talk to everybody else. You're talking to Vanessa. You come and talking to me about this. I'm not even paying attention to you because this is something, whatever, this is between y'all two,
Starting point is 00:51:18 but that's why I turned up because I felt pressed. And I felt like, you trying to, like, what is we doing here? Like, I'm not going to do this on camera. What we're not going to do is try to be funny or try to play somebody on camera.
Starting point is 00:51:30 I don't, I'm not, I'm a real person. You feel what I'm saying? And I like to talk to people for real. Like, and I tell people, we could go off the camera
Starting point is 00:51:36 and we could talk or we could do whatever we got to do. You know what I'm saying? It's not on some tough. You got your tips on today, JoJo? No, I got my UC boots. You got your tips on.
Starting point is 00:51:44 No, but it's not even on some tough. It's more on some respect. What I told Vanessa, JoJo? Now I got my easy boots. I just want to make sure. You got his tips on. No, but it's not even on some tough shit. It's more on some respect. What I told Vanessa, I told everybody, I said I would never disrespect his sister in any way, so the same way applies for my family. Don't come talking about my sister. If you disagree with the way she moves or how she acts,
Starting point is 00:51:59 keep her moving. But there's no reason to call my other sister, do a scene publicly for the world and be like, I don't like that she does this, this, this, this, this. What's the point of it? You feel what I'm saying? But you're not answering her and telling her that yourself. Y'all could have dealt with that yourself.
Starting point is 00:52:13 That's my issue. You feel what I'm saying? And that didn't have to go to camera. And if y'all didn't want to shoot together no more, then whatever. Let the world guess why they're not filming together no more. But now you want to come and do that. And now he want to backtrack. I'm not even going to talk about it.
Starting point is 00:52:24 You know what I'm saying? So it's whack to me And I don't even speak about people I don't even have intentions But I have to be honest You're not going to have me looking dumb on TV Because you don't want to have a conversation with me When all it took was a hey
Starting point is 00:52:35 So listen This is how I feel about you Bet whether I disagree or agree with you Cool You said what you said as a friend And that's it But don't have me looking dumb on TV You just got to be real about it
Starting point is 00:52:44 Y'all should have him up here, have a conversation with him. Well, he's actually in the next room. No, I'm kidding. That's supposed to be genuine love between them to me, and that's not genuine if you just want, you can automatically cut somebody off because of how they move, but just a year ago, you were like, I'm here for you. You know, the father, your child passed away, hit me whenever,
Starting point is 00:53:05 and then it's like, I don't like the way you move. It shouldn't matter. So how's marriage life for you? Because I've seen you do one thing wrong already, right? What have I done wrong? Oh, my God. You got in an argument, and you walked out. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:53:15 You can't walk out on an argument. Now you're married, you can't walk. Like, you're stuck there forever. There's no walking out. You're there. I had to walk out and get some air, you know what I'm saying? I walked to the front of the house. I ain't going nowhere, You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:53:25 But I just, sometimes I feel like I don't want it to escalate. So I just remove myself from the situation. I'm a fan of the walk out when you feel like it's too emotional. No disrespectful walk out either. Like, you know what? Let me get some air. Obviously, they're going to edit it to make it look like I just walked out. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:53:39 But I would never just walk out. I think sometimes walking out is better than staying and, like you said, making the argument even worse. And then now it just walk out. I think sometimes walking out is better than staying and like you said making an argument even worse. And then now it just escalates. We gotta calm down before we can speak to each other again. Except for now when I walk back in, people more calm and we can sit down and talk about it. You got a conversation. Okay, I get that. So how is the marriage life now? I mean
Starting point is 00:53:57 it's the same. I would just explain Look, look, look. It feels better, but what I was just explaining to somebody out there, he was asking me how to marriage and i said only only the people that weren't ready to commit or or really take the relationship serious feel like marriage is a new step or something that's so different oh my god i gotta be because you still want to go out there and do your thing but a guy that already is committed and to his relationship and knows what he wants and how he wants to move with his woman that's your wife and
Starting point is 00:54:24 that's just what it's going to be. Now, let me ask you, since the new season is starting, right, let's flash back to the last season. Pastry. Yes. Now, Vanessa, you really wanted to bring pastry back, and Angela wasn't as interested in doing that. So how did you feel about that, and where is that at now?
Starting point is 00:54:40 Well, pastry never really stopped. It still exists in, like like the spirit market and dance. It's really big in the dance world. And I did go back as creative director so I'm working with the brand to just kind of bring a more fitness edge to it. Angela did not come back with me and it's no hard feelings. We are gonna have
Starting point is 00:54:58 disagreements in business and we're not always gonna work together. I think people were just so used to us always working together that they really wanted to see that. Yeah, but we left in 2012 to just kind of get to know ourselves more. We got into that business at such an early age that, you know, there was more growing to do. So we relinquished our shares and left in 2012. They cashed down and dipped.
Starting point is 00:55:18 Cashed out. But you would have preferred for Angela to be on that trip with you. A hundred percent. I'm looking at her right now, but I mean, a hundred percent, I would have loved for that to happen. But I mean, you know, I have a daughter who's very creative, loves designing herself. And I want to show her that, you know, your dreams are valid at any age and show her, you know, what mommy did at a young age. And that when she becomes of age, she can do that too. You know.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Why did you leave Pastry? Why didn't you want to come back? It had been years. We went back, revisited it. When I revisited it, for me, business-wise, it didn't make sense, and it didn't work for me. We both have different and separate instances going on. My focus really is women empowerment stuff.
Starting point is 00:55:58 I am working on some fashion stuff, but mainly my Purpose app, which people, please download that, by the way. But I'm just focused on doing that stuff. Now, last time you were here, JoJo, you said you weren't following your sisters because some of the pictures
Starting point is 00:56:08 they post. Are you following? Are you following? Not me. Not you. I follow Amber, but when I know she goes on vacations or something,
Starting point is 00:56:16 I just go quick. Swipe right past it real fast. I just take you off my closest friend list when I'm on vacation. No, I'm cool if you're on your closest friend list
Starting point is 00:56:22 because that don't matter because it's what you post on your page. It don't be your story. It be the whole Cheeto picture. Oh, you're going to bring that up right now? You don't remember the cheat with the orange fur and the Cheetos? Man.
Starting point is 00:56:33 I was like. Orange fur and Cheetos? Listen, y'all look up the Cheeto picture. Why you bring that up? Because Aster type. I'll be like. Where was the Cheeto picture? Where was the Cheetos?
Starting point is 00:56:41 I was in Tulum and I took a picture in a jacket. My stylist asked me to take a picture and I had some Cheetos? I was in Tulum, and I took a picture in a jacket. My stylist asked me to take a picture, and I had some Cheetos, and I took a picture sitting like this, and I had the Cheetos. And your crotch? Yes. It wasn't like that. So you see what I'm saying? No, I was sitting down, and it was just like this.
Starting point is 00:56:58 Scroll quick. I was minding my business. I see Angela Simmons. Scroll. You know what I'm saying? You ever look at the comments to see who's leaving a comment? Any of your friends leave a comment and be like, I got to see this person. I don't even want to know.
Starting point is 00:57:08 I'll be fighting people in comments. No, I wouldn't even fight, though, because I've been dealing with, your sisters are pretty all my life. That's a compliment. I always say that. I'll be mad if somebody says, yo, your sister's that ugly. You know what I'm saying? Then I'll be like, what? What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:57:19 But that's a compliment to me. I always say, my family beautiful. Goodness gracious, that Cheeto picture, man. Oh, my God, Envy. You see it? She's right there. Look at this right now. I always say my family beautiful. Goodness gracious, this Cheeto picture, man. Oh my God, Embiid. You see it? She's right there. Look at this right now. No, don't show anyone.
Starting point is 00:57:29 She getting it right. She getting it right. Don't bring it back on. Goodness gracious. Because I had to use a good example. Wait, it might not be. One was on my story, so it didn't count.
Starting point is 00:57:37 That was four. You had to slide. Because people went on my story and screenshot it. That wasn't really supposed to go on the main page. Sheesh. All right, now keep it locked.
Starting point is 00:57:45 We got more with Angela, Vanessa, and JoJo Simmons from Growing Up Hip Hop. So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now from Growing Up Hip Hop, we have Angela, Vanessa, and JoJo Simmons here.
Starting point is 00:58:00 Now, Yee? Now, Angela, you also opened up a little bit more in this last season. And I saw you were doing that empowerment women's conference. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I know stuff like that is still difficult for you, like to answer certain questions and give so much. Is that getting easier? It's not difficult.
Starting point is 00:58:17 I mean, I think being open is not a difficult thing for me. It's just being honest. And the reason I do the women empowerment stuff is because I've been through a lot you know what I mean like I've firsthand dealt with abuse and never really spoke out about it and I know that there are a lot of women that are stuck and stuff like that which is why I made my program pressure makes diamonds because it's not what you went through but what you come out as right so it's like people need to tell their story from where they're at now and not be ashamed of what flaws and what they have. Because I went through that quietly and like fought my own silent like public battle because people would never know.
Starting point is 00:58:53 And like it's hard to get out. You know, and I think that it needs to be talked about. And women need to protect themselves or get like people around them because you need support in order to get out. You can't do it alone. Now, you say abuse. Now, how come you didn't tell your sister or your brother or your father, your mother at that time? Because you seem like you have a strong, strong relationship with your family. It's like, I think when you're in it, it's something you want to get through, kind of. Like, you want to work through it.
Starting point is 00:59:16 First of all, you can't believe you're in it. You're like, wait, how did I get here? You know what I mean? And then you're like, it's going to go away. It's not going to keep happening. Did it start off like a yoke? Did it start off a grab of a hand? Did it start off like that? It just starts off small, flick in your head. And next thing you know, things are being
Starting point is 00:59:29 thrown at you. So it's like, you know, I guess it just happened so quick. And so those conversations really don't have happened, which for me happened with my family until I'm done with it. I'm like, okay, I'm in a better headspace and I know that I'm done and I can like focus in and like get therapy and move on. Gotcha. But yeah, it's a tough, it's a tough situation. It's definitely tough to talk about why you're in it. And I know I've, I have found that there have been a lot of women that just don't speak about it
Starting point is 00:59:54 and they're stuck in relationships, marriages, whatever it is. Being, they stay either for their kids or they stay because they don't have finance, financial means to get out of it. But by all means, like you could wind up not here tomorrow, you know, and it happens to women all the time. And so I just encourage people to get help. Like, even if you're silently getting help, you got to get help. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:00:14 And you always think in your head, like, that would never happen to me. If that happens to me, I'll just. Oh, I was that number one person? Never. Never. Until it happens to you and you're like, I'm embarrassed to tell anybody. Is this my fault? Is this going to keep happening?
Starting point is 01:00:24 I think it's more of a scared thing you know what I mean like you're like and I don't know if I would have been embarrassed or just more afraid or not sure
Starting point is 01:00:31 what is going on or is this really this person doing this to me you know what I mean because you see different sides of people and so they could be abusing you
Starting point is 01:00:38 but then they're loving you at the same time you're like you all of a sudden you're confused so it is it's tough but that's definitely
Starting point is 01:00:44 why I've created programs and why I'm really big on women empowerment and all that stuff. Right. Now, Bow Wow, it seems like you and Bow Wow
Starting point is 01:00:50 have a great relationship. I've known him since 17. Is there any sparks in that situation? I mean, that's my... Because it just always looks like every time I see y'all
Starting point is 01:00:59 on the camera, I see something there. And you know, Romeo and Bow Wow battled it out on the basketball court over Angela too. Who won? Oh, God. Bow Wow battled it out on the basketball court over Angela, too. Who won?
Starting point is 01:01:05 Romeo. It was more like a team game. Romeo won because he picked up all the best players. It was in his hometown. They had all the best players. They had me on Bow Wow. We both 5'7".
Starting point is 01:01:22 What are we going to do? I got six footers on that team. What was we really going to do against them? So you helped Bow Wow lose. Huh? Yeah, pretty much. What'd you say? No, I didn't help Bow Wow lose.
Starting point is 01:01:31 I was chilling, really. You know what I'm saying? That's the reason why I played a couple minutes. I played a couple minutes. You know what I'm saying? But I was really chilling. So now, any sparks with Bow Wow? It's my people.
Starting point is 01:01:41 Like, I've known them since I was 17. So you got to imagine. Imagine, like, we've seen each other go from 17 to like where we're at now like that's forever I mean like we'll always be like real cool
Starting point is 01:01:50 as far as anything happening I don't know think about how long you had a crush on him yeah I did I remember my dad used to call he was on a court
Starting point is 01:01:58 with Jermaine Dupri and he called him I was so excited to talk to him then that was like 10 years old that's crazy to me like they go through this you used to really actually have a crush on him and now you're like I don't know I used to him. That was like 10 years old. Crazy to me that they go through this.
Starting point is 01:02:05 You used to really actually have a crush on him, and now you're like, I don't know. Yeah, I used to be on tour with Bow and everything. Wow. We went to all of the Omarion, Bow Wow tour, Chris Brown. That'd be a nice time to reunite. We going to the Millennium Tour 2020? I'm sure we got tickets.
Starting point is 01:02:19 Keep little Fizz away from Angela. I'm just saying. Oh, my God. Listen, that's their business. Omarion is official. I like the way he handled things. You know what I'm just saying. Oh, my God. Listen, that's their business. Omarion is official. I like the way he handled things. You know what I'm saying? I got to start handling things like that.
Starting point is 01:02:30 You know what I'm saying? That was nice. Now, has your Goddy ever reached back out to you? Because he had. Speaking of crushes, he had a huge crush on you. Yeah, he's cool. I'm a friend. What?
Starting point is 01:02:40 From the way you say, yeah, he's cool. Nah, I'm friends with Goddy. He's cool people. Shout out to your Goddy. What? Why are you looking at me like he's cool. Nah, I'm friends with Gotti. He's cool people. Shout out to your Gotti. What? Why are you looking at me like this? Nothing, I'm just, nothing. He's cool people.
Starting point is 01:02:50 Nothing, nothing, nothing. Now, Vanessa, acting, what's going on? Because we, of course. Well, acting, I just finished up season two of Monogamy. I think I came up here and talked to you guys about that. So that's back on UMC and Amazon Prime. And then I just heard that Games People Play got picked up for season two. So I'm excited about that. So that's back on UMC and Amazon Prime. And then I just heard that Games People Play got picked up for season two.
Starting point is 01:03:07 So I'm excited about that. Yeah. It's working out. Acting things. It's always been a dream of mine. So I'm happy to be able to do it.
Starting point is 01:03:14 And only y'all pursuing because JoJo, you're still doing your music with the label. I'm not doing no music. I have no music. I don't mean you. Let's keep that clear.
Starting point is 01:03:22 JoJo is not doing no music. I'm talking about with the label, with the studio. No, no, but yeah, doing the label. And I'm managing artists. Well, not managing, signing artists. And I'm developing artists, producers, writers. Like when I go to LA, I have a whole writing camp where we just write songs. And whether somebody want to pick it up or we use it for another artist, it is what it is.
Starting point is 01:03:39 But I'm definitely always going to be involved in music. That's my number one love, is music. So me making it, not so much. But me, you know, involved in it, of course. Okay. We appreciate you guys for joining us. Thank you. Thank you for having us.
Starting point is 01:03:52 I'm not playing. I'm telling you, come on. We doing this, you know? We getting your sister something, right? I need a couple. I'm excited. You need to hit up DJ Envy because he's really, I said, listen, I've been trying to, you know. Did it not go with you?
Starting point is 01:04:03 Did it not go with you? You had the same trainer, even though I haven't used him in years. JoJo, you know you can reach out directly. That sounds like you didn't reach out directly to Envy. Look, we had Angela in the house. And we went to the, did we go to car show? Yeah. We've been hanging.
Starting point is 01:04:17 Listen, cars is cool, but I want to flip from houses. But you've got to start somewhere. I want to flip from houses. All right, well, we appreciate you for joining us, Vanessa, Angela, and JoJo Simmons. Thank you. Thank you. New season of Growing Up Hip Hop premiere is coming on Thursday.
Starting point is 01:04:29 Tune in because it's getting real in real life, man. All right. We'll see if Angela's going to date Romeo. I'm not. Or if she's going to date Bow Wow. Or maybe she'll find a whole new person. And you get to see Rob run on the season. Right.
Starting point is 01:04:39 Oh, yeah. We get to see Rob. All right. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:04:47 In the next hour, we have Ask Yee. So if you need relationship advice, any type of advice, you can hit Yee right now. Get on them phone lines. But let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Cardi B. She's spilling the tea. This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. All right. So this turned into some drama online yesterday.
Starting point is 01:05:14 Now, Jade, who was Tekashi69's girlfriend, and just for some backstory, also the woman who has a case against Cardi B for allegedly getting her beat up in a strip club. Right. For allegedly having a lituation with Offset. Jade posted on social media a supposed alleged DM from Offset that said, miss you, for real.
Starting point is 01:05:33 She posted that and said, your wife, Cardi B, has an open criminal case. Why are you writing me? You don't respect her. There's a lot of shit. Ooh, can't say that. I didn't say it all.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Yeah, but you said most of it. I said shit. Right, now you gotta start over. Don't say it again. We you said most of it I said shit Right now you gotta Now you gotta start over Don't say it again We had to dump twice Okay Let's start over
Starting point is 01:05:48 Start the conversation Cause nobody heard the conversation Cause Angelina you cursed I didn't curse Yes you did I said the beginning No you didn't Two letters
Starting point is 01:05:54 Yeah no you didn't I can't say shh No you can say shh That's it That's as far as you can go Okay So What happened was
Starting point is 01:06:01 This young lady Jade Who uh Says that Offset Sent her a DM, Miss You For Real. She posted that on social media. It was at 1.36 a.m. And she said, Your wife, Cardi B, has an open criminal case.
Starting point is 01:06:12 Why are you writing me? You don't respect her. There's a lot of shh. I haven't exposed yet. But there's a time for that. I'm the queen of talking shh. Now I'm backing it up. All right.
Starting point is 01:06:22 Well, she then went on to say, Imagine fighting cases for N-word and he still missed the bitch. And after that, we saw that there were some tweets from Offset. It said, I lick cheeks. I'm gay, y'all. Can I say balls in my face? No. Okay. And then he said, I suck.
Starting point is 01:06:43 Okay. All right. It was a lot of explicit things. We get it. We get it, Yee. So apparently Offset's account got hacked, and that's how that DM got sent to Jade. So Cardi B woke up to some drama, and here's what she said on social media. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 01:06:57 So as you can see, this guy's Instagram has been hacked. Now, let me tell y'all something. My bad. We look crazy. We just woke up. Like, we've been sick throughout the whole damn night. Babe, I me tell y'all something. My bad. We just, we look crazy. We just woke up, like, we've been sick throughout the whole damn night. Babe, I know you done some dumb s***. I know he done
Starting point is 01:07:10 we here. Everybody know he done some dumb s***. But come on now. N****s ain't dumb. N****s ain't crazy. N****s ain't gonna play themselves like that. That's why I'm not entertaining me. That's why I'm not getting no rowdy. Yeah, I mean, he's done some dumb-ish, but there's no way in hell he would DM the woman that is has a case against Cardi B.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Like, come on. Well, she also posted that they contacted Twitter to talk about their account having suspicious activity for Offset. And they were trying to say that he got hacked. And then Hennessy said, it's clear Offset's Instagram and Twitter got hacked. You got hype there, huh, thirsty bitch? And then Jade said, the hack started after you got exposed. Why it didn't start at 1 a.m.? So there was just a lot of back and forth.
Starting point is 01:07:53 Here's Offset. Somebody hacked one of my emails, you know what I'm saying, that's connected to all my s***. And that's how I got hacked on the jump. You know what I'm saying? I've been having a good weekend, man. I wake up to the bulls*** with my family, man. I wake up to the bulls**t with my family, man. I ain't done no bulls**t, man. I want to thank Facebook, Google,
Starting point is 01:08:09 Twitter, Instagram for all sticking together and helping me. I still don't have my grams as of right now, but I know I'm going to get it. Shout out to Officer, man. He's a good dude. And like he said, he's probably enjoying himself. And all of a sudden he gets this. People say, well, why didn't all those tweets come out before?
Starting point is 01:08:26 Because if somebody wants to really believe that it's them, they're not going to make that many fake tweets. They want to cause a disruption like they did. All right. Well, that's just the story that we heard yesterday. So we're reporting it and their responses to everything. I don't believe it. All right.
Starting point is 01:08:40 Mary J. Blige has a documentary coming. We're excited for that. It will be produced by Amazon Studios and E1 and a premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Glad I have a subscription to that. And Diddy is going to be serving as the co-executive producer. So I'm excited. It's going to detail the life of her.
Starting point is 01:08:57 And when she came into the hip-hop scene with her second studio album, My Life, da-da-da-da-da, should be exciting. Okay. All right, now let's discuss something, and I want to hear you weigh in on this. All right. If you're friends with somebody. Friends with somebody.
Starting point is 01:09:12 Should they charge you to promote their product on social media? If they're friends? No, no. I mean, not at all. Like, when Fab has an album coming out, I promote Fab's album. Funny you say Fab. Queen Swizz or anybody that I'm cool with, they promote Jeezy. I promote them. And then when I do something like my car shows or something like that,
Starting point is 01:09:30 they'll post about my car show. That's what friends do. I can't charge Fab. Well, Fab and Casanova were reacting to Shiggy. They were all backstage at Fab's concert. And they were saying that Shiggy basically wanted compensation for an Instagram post promoting Fab's music. You can think now.
Starting point is 01:09:48 You gotta separate the four friends sometimes. That's my job, bro. That's not your job. Yes, it is. It's not your job to support friends. What happened? He said he needs some money. No way.
Starting point is 01:09:59 Everybody posted for free. No, I mean like before this. Like earlier. I think choosy. Choosy. Okay, okay. I think choosy, choosy. I need you to do the choosy challenge. You wanna do that to Trey? I said, yo, I need a re-check.
Starting point is 01:10:11 So basically, Fab wanted him to do the choosy challenge and post a video in support of his single and Shiggy asked for a check. What do you think about that? But Shiggy's saying that's his source of income. I mean, that might be a source of income, but if that's his homie, his friend, that they've done things with each other before,
Starting point is 01:10:28 you know what I mean? Hell no, I can't charge certain people. Certain people I don't care about, but if, for instance, if Fab asked me for something, Clue asked me for something, Jeezy asked me for something, a lot of these people that I really mess with, and they hit me all the time and say,
Starting point is 01:10:40 yo, Envy, can you post it? I can never charge nobody. That sounds crazy. All right, well, Fab clearly is cool with Shiggy because he did even shout him out. Damn. So, you know, they cool. I don't know. It's hard to say if that's somebody's
Starting point is 01:11:03 job. I also feel like if there's... No. But if y'all are friends... That's not his job. Well, that's how Shiggy makes his money, I guess. He's an entertainer. He dances. He does a lot of things, but his job is not...
Starting point is 01:11:14 He should have just did it, though. I do agree that Shiggy should have just posted that video. They all actually hugged and everything before they left the room, so it's no hard feelings, but it's a conversation. So he never posted the video? I don't know. All right. I'm Angela Yee, and that's your rumor report. All right, thank you, Miss Yee.
Starting point is 01:11:28 You know who hit me yesterday? Who, Offset? No, Lil Wayne. Okay, maybe he got hacked. No, Lil Wayne hit me yesterday. Right now, the funny thing is, Lil Wayne has never done The Breakfast Club. When I was doing a morning show at Hot,
Starting point is 01:11:42 he came to do the interview, but then we kept him waiting for too long, and he left. So I never really met Lil Wayne, nor have I ever had a conversation with him. I interviewed him once when I was at Sirius. He hit me yesterday and said, good morning, brother. Just letting you know, I F with y'all-ish every a.m. So if you ever need to know the real about me or anything, just scream, my G. Love and respect.
Starting point is 01:12:01 Let's see if that's really him. Let's hit him and ask him a question only he would know. Then he said, tell Charlamagne I know he doesn't like my album, but I'm gonna work harder on the next one. I was like, wow. That was pretty cool. So hopefully we can get Lil Wayne up here and shout to Lil Wayne and the whole family over there. That was pretty nice, right? Yes, sir.
Starting point is 01:12:16 All right. Now, Donkey Today's up next. 800-585-1051. I hope I wasn't supposed to read that. I hope I wasn't supposed to be quiet. Well, you can forget it now. I know, right? All right. Anyway, Donkey Today. 800-585-1051. I hope I wasn't supposed to read that. I hope I wasn't supposed to be quiet. Well, you can forget it now. I know, right? All right. Anyway, Donkey of the Day. 805-805-1051. If you want to give somebody Donkey of the Day, hit us up right now.

Starting point is 01:14:05 Yeah, right now. How you going to put me on with your sneakers dirty? How you a promoter and you go to bed early? How you a pastor but you beat your wife? Want to expand your mind and you ain't never take a flight? How you a real *** whacking on your friend? How you run your mouth and you don't know what happened? Are you a church girl with your cleavage out,
Starting point is 01:14:27 with your booty shorts when the heat is out? Fake coach bang. Girl, you know you frontin'. How you act too good, but you don't own nothin'? Don't take it personal. I'm just a person, yo. How can I MCFL right personal? How you catchin' bodies and you ain't never squeeze the burner?
Starting point is 01:14:44 Oh, you beat your lady? I call you Ike Turner, and you ain't do squeeze the burner. Or you beat your lady, I call you Ike Turner. And you ain't do a big if it's a misdemeanor. I just flick them off middle finger. That was very aggressive. Yo, I'm the best. Listen, when Jay-Z and I was beefing, I ran the
Starting point is 01:15:00 **** and spit for them. How old are you, bro? I'm a seagull. I open for Joe Buttons. I got hit records. How old are you, bro? I'm a seagull. I'm Oprah for Joe Buttons. I got hit records. How old are you, bro? I'm nicer than 40. But I'm nice. Don't get it twisted.
Starting point is 01:15:14 Don't get it twisted. Thank you, bro. Look at him. This might be monumental. He called up and spit on Jay-Z's 50th birthday. That's right. Maybe something's going to happen, Envy. He'll start popping when he's 50. Well, Envy, you get donkey of the day.
Starting point is 01:15:25 Hello, who's this? Yo, Envy, what's going on, bro? This is Tastelands and Joystown. Hey, what's up, bro? Ain't nothing, man. Called to give you
Starting point is 01:15:31 donkey of the day. Remember when I came up there and you said I wasn't going to make it? No. Why is everybody giving Envy donkey of the day today?
Starting point is 01:15:37 When did I say you wasn't going to make it? Were you a rapper? No, I was a guy from South Carolina on the restaurant, the Honey Jerk Sauce. Oh, okay, the Honey Jerk.
Starting point is 01:15:44 I never said you wasn't going to make it. Yes, you did. You see, I didn't say I didn't want to talk. You didn't make it up there. I said, bro, not for anything. Oh, yeah, I was a guy from South Carolina. I owned a restaurant, the Honey Jerk Sauce. Oh, okay, the Honey Jerk. I never said you wasn't going to make it. Yes, you did. You see, I didn't tell anyone. You didn't make it upstairs. I said, bro, not for anything. Oh, yeah, I said you wasn't going to make it upstairs. Okay.
Starting point is 01:15:51 You made it upstairs? Yeah, we got that Honey Jerk Sauce. Okay, all right. You know, thank you, Angelina Lee, because you had my back, too. When I was calling you, you were like, yeah, Charlamagne, you did tell I got it coming. I pulled up on him. You definitely pulled up on him.
Starting point is 01:16:02 You know I love a nice Honey Jerk Sauce. Well, I'm glad you made it upstairs. I got the jerk sauce, too. Thank you. Did y'all try it for Thanksgiving? Did you? Not on Thanksgiving. I thought you had it back, E.
Starting point is 01:16:12 Yeah, I didn't try it yet. But I wasn't here for Thanksgiving. I wasn't here for Thanksgiving. But I'll make sure I try it. But it's all good because I've been calling since you left. Since you got off your tour, I had another Inside Connect left you a bottle with a producer, but if you didn't get that one, I was going to send you a care package anyway.
Starting point is 01:16:29 I did see your sauce up here and I was like, oh, that sounds good. And another thing, I'm mad. I look at y'all show every day. Why they clean Charlemagne's section up? My sauce is not there. It's definitely not clean. He said he was going to leave it there to put on for the steak. His section is actually cleaning.
Starting point is 01:16:45 You're right. I'm looking over there. It's not up there. We're looking at the show right now. It's cleaner, but it's still dirty. No, it's definitely clean. Hello, who's this? It's Wardell from Detroit.
Starting point is 01:16:54 Hey, Wardell. What up, Wardell? Give it up. You said give it up. Why'd you say give it up? I don't know why I said give it up. Why'd you just say give it up? I was going to say give it up for the D.
Starting point is 01:17:02 Oh, my God. Why would you just say that? Who you want to give donkey to, bro? That is crazy. I'm giving donkey of the day to Charlamagne for not coming in today. Yeah, I thought he was just late, but then I guess he decided not to come at all. Yeah, but then he changed the whole vibe of the show. You can hear it in Envy's voice.
Starting point is 01:17:17 Envy's like, is he coming or is he not coming? Whoa. He got to give donkey of the day. All right. Thank you, brother. Envy's like, yep. Give it up for the D. Is he coming or is he not coming?
Starting point is 01:17:27 Let's go one more, one more, one more. Hello, who's this? Yeah, Patty. I'm not your daddy. I'm not saying daddy. I'm saying Patty. Patty. Oh, hey, Patty.
Starting point is 01:17:36 Hi. Who you want to give donkey to, Patty? All right. So, hi. My daughter just finished her first semester at a prestigious HBCU, and needless to say, we regretted that decision very quickly. What school? You got to tell us what school.
Starting point is 01:17:53 HU, Howard University. What happened? Oh, say that again. Stop it, stop it. What happened? Shh, shh, shh. Say it louder for the people in the back. What school?
Starting point is 01:18:01 Howard University. Oh, my goodness. What happened at Howard? Facilities were dirty and grass and mice. What school? Howard University. Oh, my goodness. What happened at Howard? Facilities were dirty and grass and mice. Oh. Roaches everywhere. Oh.
Starting point is 01:18:11 Nobody ever answers the phone. Oh. Where was she staying on campus, though? She was staying at the new, the quad, the new quad that was newly built.
Starting point is 01:18:20 Oh, my goodness. Somebody get AJ on the phone. AJ, if you're out there, please chat with Bozeman, Taraji, Diddy. Who else went there that talks about all that Howard stuff? Anthony Anderson. Would you like me to make a call to the real H-U? Which one?
Starting point is 01:18:34 Hampton. That's not what you said when you did Change for Change. Hampton. I'm so sorry about your negative and bad experience about Howard University. That hurts me so bad. No, I'm just joking. You know, maybe it was just a problem that one day or something. Maybe because it's new, they still had
Starting point is 01:18:50 things to work through. Yeah, we gotta support the HBCUs. We had visited a lot of universities. You know, my daughter wanted to try it out, but I felt, even visiting the grounds and everything, I felt like they were lacking a lot, a lot. Oh my God. Well, I'm so sorry for your experience.
Starting point is 01:19:06 I actually, I like Howard University. I joke about them all the time because I went to Hampton, but I think it's a good school. They have great programs. But I'm sorry you had a bad experience, Mama. Thank you. Have a good day. If you feel like driving like three and a half hours,
Starting point is 01:19:18 Hampton is right there. I'm just putting that out there. All right. Have a good one. She's like, calm down. Bye-bye. All right. Have a good one. She's like, calm down. Bye-bye. All right. Don't kill the day.
Starting point is 01:19:28 800-585-1051. When we come back, ask ye. If you need relationship advice or any type of advice, hit ye now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. What, what, what, what, what, what you want to know? Baby mama issues? Need some words of wisdom?
Starting point is 01:19:42 Call up now for Ask Ye. 800-585-1051. The Breakfast Club. Need relationship advice? Need personal advice? Just need real advice. Call up now for Ask Ye. Eat the bread. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 01:20:00 It's DJ, MV, and Angela Ye. Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Hello. Good morning, Cliff. Hey, how you doing? Take us off speaker. Hey, how you doing?
Starting point is 01:20:09 All right, let's try this again. Cliff, what's your question for Yee? It's Ask Yee. Hey, how you doing, Yee? I got a question. I've been in a four-year relationship, and we've been living together, but she works in a different state than I do,
Starting point is 01:20:22 and I'm there most of the time holding most of the responsibility. And when I talk to her about it, she acts like she really don't, like, she gets mad like she's there, but I try to explain to her, you're only there financially, but I'm the one with the kids all the time,
Starting point is 01:20:36 working and taking care of everything. Okay. So what is it that you want to happen moving forward? Because you say she's working, but she works out of town. Yeah, like, I don't know. I'm just at a crossroad. Like, I think I'm ready to kind of move on.
Starting point is 01:20:51 Like, I'm, you know, because I'm kind of, I feel like I'm stuck in the same spot. Like, I feel like it's no progress. And she doesn't. And it's not like I don't love her or nothing like that, but I just feel like I'm stuck in the same spot. What does she do that she has to travel? She works in the doctor's office, so she can get a job where we live at,
Starting point is 01:21:09 but I guess she chooses to work where she works at because she feels that she's been there for a long time and she doesn't want to give up where she's at. Right. And, you know, that's a hard decision for people to make with careers and family if she feels like her career is flourishing. But I also feel like, you know, there's a
Starting point is 01:21:29 compromise to be made here. If she won't even make the effort because maybe there's a way that she can explore other things that she might want to do that's along her line of work that could even possibly pay more money and at least explore that as an option. Do you think that she just doesn't want to be at home either
Starting point is 01:21:45 or you think it's really just work-related? I think it's a little bit of both. I think she just don't want to admit it, that she don't want to be there. Because, you know, sometimes she can't come home. She works from Monday through Thursday and she can't come home on a Friday, like a Thursday night. But sometimes she don't come home until like Friday at 8 o'clock
Starting point is 01:22:02 after she gets her nails done. You know what I'm saying? So then she complains about home until, like, Friday at 8 o'clock after she gets her nails done. You know what I'm saying? So then she complains about quality time with me, but you're only home from, like, sometimes from, like, Friday night to, like, Sunday evening. And then you complain about me spending quality time when I got things to do on my own or I have my own kind of free time a little bit sometimes. Yeah, that's tough. And I think she's got to at least compromise a little bit. And with compromise, maybe something's not going to happen right away, but
Starting point is 01:22:27 maybe there's a time limit she could put on it or at least start fishing around to see what could be available that would let her be home. Or even at work, see if there's a way that she can spend more time at home and have some flexibility because she's been there so long. Yeah, because that was never the plan. The plan was never for
Starting point is 01:22:43 her to keep working. The plan was to move her work for like a year so we could keep that stable income and then later on find something where we're at. But she just left it in the same spot and never left where she was working. I have multiple jobs in this state. I'm not doing good for myself. Cliff, y'all got to sit down together
Starting point is 01:23:02 and come up with possible solutions. She needs to throw out some things that she can compromise on, and you need to come to the table with some possible solutions so that you guys can come together and fix this. And if you really truly feel like in the next few months that there's been no progress and she's not making an effort, then that's when I think is a real conversation about what are you going to do moving forward.
Starting point is 01:23:23 All right, thank you. All right, no problem. Good luck, bro. Thank you, Cliff. He sounds so upset. He does. I feel bad. Ask Yee, 805-85-1051.
Starting point is 01:23:32 If you need relationship advice, hit Yee right now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Get some real advice with Angela Yee. It's Ask Yee. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:23:49 We're in the middle of Ask Yee. What line you want to go to, Yee? Let's do line three, Monica. Hey, Monica. Good morning. Hi. Hi. Why you put that sexy voice on?
Starting point is 01:23:58 Hi. My gosh. I can't. Okay, let me settle down. I had this all cut up to play for you, and now I can't find it. Okay, this is Asi. So what's the question? My daughter, she lives in Barbados.
Starting point is 01:24:13 She was in a competition over there, and I wanted to play her a verse for you. Okay. So it's not really advice. You just want to play a snippet of a song. And then she wants your advice on how it sounds. Yes. I'm actually flying into Barbados next week. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 01:24:33 You know, my daughter went to school with Rihanna, the one that wanted to play the tune for you. Rihanna was a little older, but they went to the same school. Rihanna's on the song? Shut up, Judy. No, no, no. They just went to the same school. Rihanna's on the show? No, no, no. They just went to the same school. She doesn't know her personally but she was
Starting point is 01:24:49 we often call cadets at home. Rihanna was kind of like the cadet leader. Alright, but let's hear it. I see what's happening. Hold on, mama. Hold on, mama. Monica, why don't you give out her Instagram page so people could hear her music there?
Starting point is 01:25:16 Do I tell you now? Yeah, tell us now because we can't really hear this. It's B-E-A-U-T-I-E underscore fades. Underscore what? Fades. F as in Frank, A as in Adam, I, D as in David, Z as in zebra. Fades. Okay, thank you, Monica.
Starting point is 01:25:38 Beauty underscore fades? Fades. Like, you know, your beauty doesn't always stay forever. But fades, F-A-I-D-Z. D-Z, yeah, she spelled it differently. Okay, you know, your beauty doesn't always stay forever. But fades, F-A-I-D-Z. D-Z, yes. She spelled it differently. Okay, Mama. Beauty on the surface.
Starting point is 01:25:51 Thank you. I love you guys. We love you back. I believe your hair looks great. He just cut it. Oh, Mama, you got a fan now.
Starting point is 01:26:00 Okay. There you go, Mama. Evie, beauty fades. All right. Thank you, Mama. Thank you. Take care. Goodbye. God bless. God bless. I don't see fades. All right. Thank you, mama. Thank you. Take care. Goodbye.
Starting point is 01:26:06 God bless. God bless. I don't see it. I don't see it either. Mama gave me the wrong Instagram. I think that's wrong. All right, well, let's go to another line. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 01:26:14 Yo, this is Travis. Hey, Travis, what's your question for Yee? Hey, what's going on, Evie? Hey, Yee, I got a question, man. All right, so I started a business not too long ago, and then shortly after, my wife, we had our daughter prematurely. Okay. And then, you know, it forced me to go back into a nine to five and I'm trying to balance that with a job. But then at the same time, I'm trying to be a father. I'm trying to be a husband. You know, I'm trying to be a working man. And like certain
Starting point is 01:26:37 times, you know, like I feel like, you know, at the end of the day, like I didn't do enough or is it enough? And, you know, it kind of it kind of creates a depression, I guess you would say. Right. And, you know, a lot of men go through this and we don't know, you know, from a woman's perspective, what can we do? So is your wife feeling, does your wife feel like you're not doing what you should be doing? I mean, she doesn't say it, you know, and that's the thing, like, I try to communicate and I try to get it out, but
Starting point is 01:27:08 like, I never get a clear answer, or I don't even get, like, you know, the body language that's giving me an answer. Well, I'm gonna say a couple of things here. Your wife just had a baby, right? The baby was born prematurely, but thank God the baby is fine. You should understand also that your wife is probably going through her own things, too.
Starting point is 01:27:23 You know, with her hormones. I tried to call in the other day when you guys had this, you know, a question about, you know, women and men. And why do we not feel attracted to each other? But I couldn't get through and I got through the day. So it was kind of the same thing. So you guys are just basically not having sex anymore either on top of this. I mean, it's a lot less than what it was. But, you know, you have to be sensitive to the fact
Starting point is 01:27:46 that she did just have a baby, right? And I think what's really necessary for myself as a woman, like I've been in situations with men who were going through a tough time, and the hardest thing for us when you're going through a tough time is for you to not treat us well because you feel like we're disappointed in you
Starting point is 01:28:01 or you're depressed about, you know, what you have going on. And it's difficult for us because what we need is for you to be more optimistic about what you're going to do in the future and to treat us really, really well during that time. Because sometimes in relationships, we could be down on ourselves and take it out on the other person. Well, what you really want to do is go to that other person for support, support that
Starting point is 01:28:22 other person as well and show and prove. You know, we love men that are putting in effort. Even if that effort isn't paying off immediately, and we can see that you're doing everything you can, and it sounds like you are. You started a business, right? And then realize that now you have to support the family, so the business might not be flourishing yet, but at least you've gone and done the nine to five things to hold down your family at the same time. And at least you care enough. You care enough. And I do feel like communication is important.
Starting point is 01:28:53 Ask her how she's doing and make sure that she's doing okay. And don't try to force her to tell you that she's disappointed in you or any of those things. She might not feel that way. You might be too hard on yourself. And sometimes I do feel like I am too hard on myself. And, you know, and I guess that's the factor of depression where we start blaming ourselves for things that we don't we don't necessarily, you know, see happening. Right. Because we don't get the results. And, you know, it's just more or less like, you know, I just want to make sure, you know, like as a man, you know, coming going towards a woman.
Starting point is 01:29:25 I don't want to over I don't want to oppress or I don't want to oppress her and come at her like overly aggressive. Right. And maybe it's time, you know, for you guys, for the sake of your family to seek outside help and do family therapy. You have a baby now at home. You know, you guys are going through your own individual things that you might not be able to even communicate with each other about. And it might mean an outside person should step in so y'all can express yourselves. Yeah, I never thought about that. That's really that is should be what i should be doing too yeah so i would definitely get some recommendations on who you can go see insurance a lot of times will cover that so look into that as well and you know for the sake of your family and for your own mental health
Starting point is 01:30:01 and for your wife's mental health i think now that you see there's these issues, let's attack it. Yeah, because you know, I really love her and I don't want to see myself with anybody else, you know? I have the luxury of knowing my mother and father my whole life and I want to give that same luxury to my daughter. And sometimes there's really little sweet things that you can do that will just really
Starting point is 01:30:20 brighten up her whole entire mood. So don't stop doing those things. Okay. Okay. Alrighty. Thank you, guys. I really appreciate it. Alright, good luck, Travis. You sound like a great guy.
Starting point is 01:30:29 Good luck, bro. Ask Yee. 800-585-1051 if you need relationship advice or any type of advice, hit Yee. Now we got rumors on the way? Yes, and since we're talking
Starting point is 01:30:38 about mental health, let's talk about Taraji P. Henson. She talks about her own struggles with depression and anxiety. Alright, we'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:30:48 The Breakfast Club. Good morning, everybody. We are The Breakfast Club. And shout to the Double Tree Hotel. They sent us those cookies. You know how they give you the warm cookies when you stay there? As soon as you check in, they give you that warm cookie. I know it's National Cookies, though.
Starting point is 01:31:04 Can you please finish chewing the cookies, please? Yeah, but they sent up a bunch of cookies. I know it's National Cookies, though. Can you please finish chewing the cookies, please? Yeah, but they sent up a bunch of cookies. I thought it was pretty dope. Anytime you check in, they give you that nice, warm cookie. And they put in these little baggies
Starting point is 01:31:11 so that you can put it in the microwave for 10 seconds and it'll be warm just like it is there. Yep. I just was at the DoubleTree in Silver Spring, Maryland when we did the lip service tour.
Starting point is 01:31:18 Yep. And first thing I did was go to Frontier and say, where are the cookies? Well, thank you for the cookies. They sent us about 20 cookies up here. Shout out to Donnell Rawlings and Austin and Stephanie.
Starting point is 01:31:28 They're in the car right now coming from the airport. So, hey, Austin. Hey, cutie. Morning, guys. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk TI. Listen up. It's just in.
Starting point is 01:31:38 All the gossip. Gossip. The rumor report. Gossip. Gossip. With Angela. Angela Yee. It's the rumor report.
Starting point is 01:31:44 The Breakfast Club. Well, this drama is continuing. Goss. Goss. With Angela. Angela Yee. It's The Rumor Report. The Breakfast Club. Well, this drama is continuing. Wack 100 versus T.I. You know Wack. He's Blueface's manager right now also. And T.I. posted on Instagram because Wack had said that Nipsey Hussle is not a legend. And T.I. posted a legend and he put the definition of legend on there. And he said this, say Nipsey all over it.
Starting point is 01:32:04 Record sales and number one hits ain't the only barometer for legendary status. Impact is what's important. Although his notoriety did grow exponentially more after his demise, his impact is undeniable. Now, Wack then posted a video of T.I. I remember when T.I. had to do those Crime Stopper videos as part of his, I guess, when he got arrested, I think he had to do these.
Starting point is 01:32:26 Yep. And this is what he posted. Hey, what's happening, y'all? Some people call me Till, but this is about another kind of Till that can help our mothers, our sisters, our brothers, and our fathers help get the perpetrators who commit crimes against them off the streets. All you gotta do is call Crime Stoppers Atlanta.
Starting point is 01:32:43 Tips can be anonymous, and there's even a reward. I don't like that. You don't like what? That he posted that? I don't like whacking T.I. going back and forth. T.I. does.
Starting point is 01:32:50 I mean, they can have a difference of opinions. So then T.I. posted people on Twitter versus people in real life and it says, at famous guy, shut up, your music sucks, talentless idiot.
Starting point is 01:32:57 And then it shows that same person asking the famous guy, oh my God, could you please sign my hoodie? I'm your biggest fan. He said, until it's in my face, it's fake.
Starting point is 01:33:06 This social media-ish gets weird. However, my paperwork clean and presentable for any and all to pull up and see in real life. So he said, ain't no back and forth. You way too old for this, sir. And I'm way too rich. Yeah, I don't like this. And they can have a difference of opinions. I mean,
Starting point is 01:33:22 Wack feels Nipsey's not a legend. T.I. feels he is a legend. Why does it have to go past that? T.I. does too much to the community, too much for the culture to play with T.I.'s name like that. I like Wack, but this is something where they should have a man-to-man conversation. Let Nipsey rest in peace. The family is still having to deal with this. Just let's stop.
Starting point is 01:33:43 I don't know if Wack was asked. Somebody might have asked Wack that question and he answered. He should just not. Just leave it alone. I don't even want to speak on it. Yeah, I don't like to see that. Alright, so then he posted about T.I. some more and I also don't like bringing up, you know, T.I.'s best friend had gotten killed. Let's not even bring that up. That's a horrible tragedy, but
Starting point is 01:33:59 it was a lot of back and forth. Alright, Raji P. Henson is talking about her struggle with depression and anxiety. Now, she did an interview with Self Magazine, and she said her depression got so bad before she got help that she felt like she was in a dark cloud. She said, I noticed the mood swings. Like, you know, one day I would be up, and the next day I would be down, feeling like I didn't want to go out in public, almost agoraphobic. There would be days when my brain wouldn't stop racing with the worst scenarios in the world, which would heighten my anxiety. There was no shame when I started to recognize it. It was like, I have to get some help because I'm
Starting point is 01:34:30 the life of the party, and when I go dark, I go dark. I don't want to leave the house. So she did get the help of a therapist. She found that therapist through Gabourey Sidibe from Empire also. Okay. She got the help that she needed. And shout out to Gabourey Sidibe. You know I did an episode of Empire just recently, and she actually is the one that she needed. And shout out to Gabourey Sidibe. You know, I did an episode of Empire just recently,
Starting point is 01:34:45 and she actually is the one that directed that episode, and she did a great job. So shout out to Gabourey Sidibe. Shout out to her. All right, Alicia Keys and Meg Thee Stallion, here's some great news. They're going to be honored at Billboard 2019's Women in Music event.
Starting point is 01:34:57 So that's well-deserved. 15-time Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, musician, producer, philanthropist. Alicia Keys is getting the American Express Impact Award for her inspiring work with She Is The Music. And Meg Thee Stallion will earn the Powerhouse Award with her Fever mixtape and Unshakable Confidence and Rhymes. All of that, she's getting that award. So other women who will be honored. Nicki Minaj is getting the Game Changers Award.
Starting point is 01:35:22 Desiree Perez from Roc Nation. She's getting the 2019 Executive of the Year Award. You know you can't do anything at Roc Nation without going through Desiree. And yeah, so a lot of people being awarded there. And that'll be streamed live on YouTube too, by the way. All right, The Rock says he was hesitant to remarry after his divorce.
Starting point is 01:35:41 He said his split back in 2007 from his ex-wife really did a number on him. He said, I wasn't fearful from his ex-wife really did a number on him. He said, I wasn't fearful of getting married again. There was just some hesitancy, but Lauren was incredibly patient. I love you. You love me. We have this amazing life together. No presh.
Starting point is 01:35:54 And they were actually together for over a decade before they got married. Okay. Well, congratulations to them. I'm glad he got married. I'm glad he found love. Mm-hmm. All right, I'm Angela Yee,
Starting point is 01:36:03 and that is your Rumor Report. All right, thank you, Miss Yee. Now, when we come back, Shout Out to Revolt. We'll see you tomorrow. Everybody else, People's Choice mixes up next, and yes, it's Hov's 50th birthday. Oh, so you know what it is. Every year, Envy. What?

Starting point is 01:36:25 My favorite has to be the record he recorded on my album called Hova. I don't think that's anyone's. You know how they do that? Nobody ever? Yeah, that's nobody else's favorite by mine. Is that anybody else's favorite? Maybe it is. I'm sure it's going to be in the mix.
Starting point is 01:36:40 So if you haven't heard it, you'll hear it in the mix. I'm going to start the mix off with it. Oh, my God. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Let's go. DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne the guy. We are the Breakfast Club. And shout out to ProStyle, DJ ProStyle, who works at our station here in New York.

I know he's off to the next deal, so he'll be picking up a bunch of others. He's making sure his kids are going to be straight with the generational wealth. So congratulations to ProStyle again.
