Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show,
where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more.
After those runs, the conversations keep going.
That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about.
It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories,
their journeys, and the thoughts that
arise once we've hit the pavement together. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. own? I planted the flag. This is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water,
500 pounds of concrete. Or maybe not. No country willingly gives up their territory. Oh my God.
What is that? Bullets. Listen to Escape from Zaka Stan. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-A-S-T-A-N
on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions,
but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself. It's okay. Have grace with yourself.
You're trying your best, and you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.
Alicia Keys, like you've never
heard her before. Listen to
On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the
iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts. Good morning, you Collectively known as Breakfast Club, bitches.
Good morning, USA. Good. Well, Angela Yee is out. We just found out like 30 seconds ago. Charlamagne Tha God. Peace to the planet.
It's Friday.
Yes, it's Friday.
The weekend is here.
Yeah, man.
I think I lost my voice yesterday on the set of my talk show, The God's Honest Truth, which comes on tonight at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.
But guess what?
I got enough voice to do the breakfast
club this morning. Damn it.
There you go. Well, today is Friday, of course.
We got a great show this morning to you.
It is Friday. I seen the locks were on the show
tonight. I seen Sheik who's posted a picture.
Man, I got
tonight, I got the locks on
tonight, and I got the senior
advisor to President Joe
Biden, Cedric Richmond, on tonight.
They both were on tonight.
We're discussing a whole bunch of things.
Of course, we're discussing things that happened
during the week, but the overall
basis of the show tonight
is why
the Democrats are such cowards.
The title of the show is actually the Cowardly
Donkeys. So Cedric Richmond,
the senior advisor to Joe Biden, he'll be on tonight to discuss that.
And the locks will be on as well.
Because, you know, don't act like Styles isn't politically sound.
All right.
So they'll be on to talk about.
Yeah, because I feel like, you know, black people, we in a bad record deal with the Democrats.
So, you know, who better to tell us to get out of a bad deal than the locks?
So we'll talk about that tonight.
On the God's Honest Truth, 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.
Yeah, I'm out in Detroit for my car show, of course.
So last night we were starting to load in cars and load in things.
And this morning we'll start doing it again.
Of course, the car show is on Saturday.
We have thousands of people and hundreds of cars and so many activations and so many things to do.
A lot of people think that it's a huge, I would say, business behind this.
But no, it's just me and my crew, me and my family.
We do this thing together from start to finish.
So we're down in Detroit.
And Angela Yee is out in Chicago.
Now, yesterday was the Radio Hall of Fame.
And we didn't make it.
Charlamagne had to tape his show. I'm out in Detroit.
It was actually last year when we were inducted, so they had the ceremony last night.
We couldn't make it, so she went, and I guess she overdid it last night, huh?
She celebrated a little too much.
Celebrated too much.
I saw a picture with her.
What? What? What'd you say?
You know when you think you're still 18 and you celebrate, you'll be like, look, it's time for me to take a nap.
So she's taking a nap right now, I'm sure.
Yeah, I saw a picture with her and Sway and Angie Martinez.
I'm sure they were celebrating, rightfully so, you know, getting into the Radio Hall of Fame.
That's a blessing.
Dropping the clues bombs for the Breakfast Club.
Dropping the clues bombs for Angie Martinez.
Dropping the clues bombs for Sway. Dropping the clues bombs for Angie Martinez, dropping the clues bonds for Sway,
dropping the clues bonds for Donnie Simpson.
I don't remember who else Black got in,
but I remember those four.
I think that, yeah, you may be right,
but it's a blessing,
and I wish that I could have been there,
but you can't be two places at one time.
All right, well, let's get the show cracking.
Now, like I said, we just found out about 30 seconds ago that Angelique is not going to make it.
So I'm going to be filling in for all her parts.
So wish me luck.
Now, Yvonne Orji will be joining us this morning, right?
Yvonne Orji from Insecure.
Molly from Insecure will be here this morning.
She's got her book out, Bamboozled by Jesus.
That's out right now.
You know who else will be here this morning
for all you wrestling fans, all you
WWE fanatics, the
WWE champion, Big
E will be here this morning as well.
I'm here already.
Man, shut up. Oh, you mean
WrestleBig E because you always
call me Big E too. I've never
called you Big E a day in my damn life.
I call you Bottom E. That's who my damn life. I call you Bottom E.
That's who I call you.
I call you Bottom E.
All right?
That's what you've been hearing.
Not no big.
Bottom.
The B stands for Bottom.
Bottom E.
All right.
Okay?
Well, let's get the show cracking.
All right, Front Page News is next.
Facebook changes its name.
We'll tell you all about it.
Well, maybe we won't.
I'll tell you as much as I know.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get some front page news.
Now, in NFL football, the Packers beat the Cardinals 24-21.
Now, tonight is World Series Game 3.
Of course, the Astros versus the Braves.
Now, Major League Baseball also, you know that the cows are hurt.
Yeah, the cows are hurt.
Peter is asking Major League Baseball to rename the bullpen to the arm barn because they say it's insensitive to cows.
So I can't say that Peter's on some bull right now.
They'll get mad at me for saying that.
Let me tell you something, Peter.
This is the problem with y'all and the way y'all want to change animals' names.
You don't even know if a bull is a bull.
Did the bull ever tell you, hey, my name is Bull?
Somebody named a bull a bull a long time ago.
And now you're upset because somebody is naming,
somebody named a pin after something y'all named that thing.
Like, y'all are ridiculous.
Knock it off.
And I would think that's homage.
That's honor to say it's a bull pin, right?
What's wrong with a bull pin?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Shut up.
I'm lost.
I was going to say, 42 Doug, you should be, hey, tell 42 Doug
he should be offended by the term dugout then.
And he need to make the baseball teams change the dugout from dugout.
Since we might be offending 42 Doug.
Stop it.
Now, also, Facebook is changing its name to Meta.
Yeah, Meta.
And we have Mark Zuckerberg talking about it.
The word Meta comes from the Greek word meaning beyond.
I'm proud of what we've built so far and excited about
what comes next as we move beyond what's possible today beyond the constraints of screens beyond the
limits of distance and physics and towards a future where everyone can be present with each
other create new opportunities and experience new things it's a future that is beyond any one company
that will be made by all of us.
That is not being present with each other.
No.
I don't understand.
No.
They believe a rebranding could be part of an effort
to overhaul Facebook's reputation
and turn the page following a series of nightmares,
including misinformation on its platforms,
content moderation failures,
and negative effects on some of the users and mental health.
So that's what they believe they're changing the name because of.
It's going to get worse now.
I mean, reality, we know it is a wrap.
It's over.
Between this and Elon Musk developing Neuralink, it's done.
Humans can literally be whatever it is they want to be.
It will be reason for folks to never leave their house.
And when you factor in how people are still kind of like not wanting to leave the crib, you know, because of COVID and whatnot, they don't have to go nowhere now because it is.
Oh, my God.
It's over.
Reality, as we know it, is a wrap.
It's over.
He breaks down what metaverse is.
Yes, there will be challenges and risks and disruption of established interests. But there will also be opportunities and benefits that we can't even imagine yet.
For connection, for creation, for learning and joy.
We'll all need to work together from the beginning to bring the best possible version of this future to life.
A future where with just a pair of glasses, you will be able to step beyond the physical world and into the kinds of
experiences that we have talked about today. People will never want to deal with reality.
They'll spend more time cultivating their virtual reality because it's easier to do than they will
their actual reality. They won't have to put any hard work in in the virtual world. You know what
I mean? You don't have to, you know, go to school, get education. You don't have to put any hard work in the virtual world. You know what I mean? You don't have to
go to school, get an education. You don't
have to go out here and figure out what your
gift is and get on your grind
to pursue your dreams. You can just
go create your dreams virtually now
online. Man,
it's over, people.
Reality as we know it is a wrap.
Alright? God might as well come down
and wrap all this up. Wrap it up. It's time to go. Alright, well get it is a wrap. All right. God might as well come down and wrap all this up.
Wrap it up.
It's time to go.
All right.
Well, get it off your chest.

Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired?
Depressed?
A little bit revolutionary?
Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's
surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am
King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme
Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition.
The Waikana tribe own country.
My forefathers did that themselves.
What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up their territory.
I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
Bullets.
We need help!
We need help!
We still have the off-road portion to go.

Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself and leaning into her dreams.
I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves.
For self-preservation and protection. It was literally
that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment
of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself. It's okay. Like, grace. Have grace with yourself.
You're trying your best.
And you're gonna figure out the rhythm of this thing.
Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before.

We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club
Hello, who's this?
This is C
C, what's up? Get it off your chest, brother
Alright, first I want to dedicate
The Breakfast Club show today
To all black women.
That's right. I love that.
They look out for us. They pick us up when we're down.
That's right.
You know, they hold us when we sit. They have our kids for us.
So I want to put out a challenge.
I want every black man today for this weekend to at least do
something special for at least five black
women in his life
and even a couple of strangers.
Also, I agree with you, brother.
Also,
I want to say this.
Now, Clarissa Shields,
she had a fight the other day.
Abigail won,
but Clarissa did not lose.
She beat that girl.
I didn't see the fight, but you got to agree.
Go ahead, brother.
I want to say to Clarissa, I am a fan.
A couple of other things.
I listened to Big Lotto freestyle, L.A. Lakers.
That girl is spitting fire.
You hear me?
Yeah, Big Lotto was spitting.
She was snapping.
So I am a fan.
Big Lotto, I am a fan.
Major Stallion, I am a fan.
Well, thank you, brother.
Hey, man, give us our show back, all right?
Yeah.
You're just like a big thing to throw up.
Whatever came on your mind, you just spit it out, huh?
And salute to Clarissa, though.
Clarissa, I mean, you know, she's trying something new.
What was she fighting, MMA?
She won her first fight. You know, she's trying something new. She's fighting MMA. She won her first fight.
You know, she lost her second. You know,
she's not a great grappler
yet, but she's still got them hands.
Salute to Clarissa Seals, man.
She's a warrior, period. Absolutely.
Hello, who's this?
Hi, this is Jess. Hey, Jess.
Get it off your chest.
Well, I'm up early for the first time
and I'm back from living abroad in
china and i'm just super excited to be home and enjoy just you know being back in the u.s and i'm
really excited to talk to you guys i listened to you guys when i was living abroad and it's super
exciting to be on right now and i love you guys thank you so much thank you what were you doing
abroad what's your business over there um well first first I went to study, get my master's, and I was just working for a few companies, digital marketing and whatnot.
And now I'm back home trying to find jobs here.
So wish me luck.
All right.
Well, thank you so much.
Get it off your chest.
800-585-1051.
If you need to vent, you can hit us up.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Let's go.
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Whether you're mad or blessed.
Say it with your chest.
We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.
So if you got something on your mind, let it out.
Hello, who's this?
Hey, what's going on?
It's Cass.
Cass, what up, man?
Get it off your chest.
I just want to get off my chest.
Man, it's hella hard to plan in a wedding.
It's just stressful. And I thought it would be, the misses that we make are more stressful than. Man, it's hella hard to plan a wedding. It's just stressful.
And I thought it would be,
the missus that we're making
are more stressful than anything,
but it's the family.
It's just, I don't know.
Why, what they doing?
Well, my mom is just intruding in everything.
We asked her to just make reservations
for the restaurant
and she's adding like 15 other people on,
wanting to throw different other things in there
and asking me to pay for it.
I'm like, wait, you suggesting these things. Why don't you pay for it? asking me to pay for it. I'm like, wait, you're suggesting these
things. Why don't you pay for it? Why don't I pay for it?
I pay for everything else.
It's very difficult. I would just
let your wife handle it, brother, and just
say yes and just take care of it. That's what I
did for my wedding. I let my wife take care of everything, brother.
What happened to the father's wife paying for
everything? Remember that used to be a thing that they used to
tell us growing up? That never happened.
You should shut up. You got four daughters and I
got four. We ain't doing that no more.
My father-in-law did donate a significant amount
to me and my wife's wedding though. That is
a fact.
The only person that's helped out is her grandmother
and her godmother and they helped her with her dress
and as far as some of the planning
and everything, but everything else has been on me
and nobody else has done nothing but
me. So this is just crazy.
Y'all mind if I shout out my wife?
You should, yes sir.
I just want
to give a shout out to India Hawkins.
This is from a future husband.
Let you know I love you baby.
We're about to spend the rest of our lives together.
Fantastic lives together. We're growing.
We're going to elevate and get better
through everything. I love you.
There you go.
Dope.
Dope.
All right, brother.
Have a good one, man, and good luck with everything.
Hello, who's this?
Yeah, what's up?
This is Anonymous.
Anonymous.
What up?
Get it off your chest, bro.
I know y'all can't see me, but I had a new name for your car show.
It was going to be Car Sellers.
I got that because cars, that's what you do.
That's what your show is.
Sell. Car sells what your show is. Sell.
Car sells, what the person is trying to represent.
And y'all is like everybody.
Us, they, we, car sellers.
Car sellers.
You was anonymous to tell us that?
Yeah, I just wanted to get off my chest.
All right.
Well, thank you, brother.
You have a good day, man.
Now, you know he didn't have to be anonymous to say that.
He definitely didn't.
I don't even know why he did that.
He must not want no smoke with a car, car, car, car. What's that place called? I don't know. We didn't have to be anonymous to say that. He definitely didn't. I don't even know why he did that. He must not want no smoke with a car.
What's that place called?
I don't know.
We don't know that place.
But my car show is tomorrow in Detroit.
If you haven't got your ticket, get your ticket, man.
It's going to be a family fun day.
Games, rides, and a host of things all day long.
All right?
Get it.
5-1-0-5-1.
Now, when we come back, DaBaby.
Back and roll aloud.
We'll tell you all about it.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
It's about time.
What's going on?
Rumor Report.
Rumor Report.
This is The Rumor Report.
Talk to them.
With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club.
Well, yesterday was the start of Roller Loud New York City,
and it was dope.
There was three stages,
different artists performing on every stage,
and my daughter actually went.
She said she had a great time.
One of the highlights of the show on Thursday night was 50 Cent.
He performed.
Shout out to the boy, Fifth.
And he brought out the baby.
50 Cent, the rock and roll show.
Get out of here.
And the baby jumped into the crowd
He performed a couple of joints and killed it
The crowd went crazy
Now if you remember
He was supposed to perform in Rolling Loud in Miami
But he was taken off because
Well no actually that's when he said those things
That made the whole world go crazy
So he since came back on the stage
And he killed it last night
So congratulations and shout out to the baby
Well that's great
Drop on the Clues Bonds for the baby.
Salute to 50 Cent.
Do they have fake outrage at 50 Cent
this morning over doing that?
Or last night? I wasn't paying attention.
No, and you know 50 wouldn't care anyway.
But yeah, he brought the baby out on his set.
Now in Sabato...
I mean, clearly, I would think
Roland Loud Would have to
Approve that anyway right
Yes
Like I'm sure that
50 didn't just pull him out
On stage
I'm sure he had to
You know show him
A set list
And who he planned
To bring out
So if Roland Loud
Approved that
Then you know
Clearly
Dave moved past
The situation
I would think
I mean the brother
Apologized and he spoke
With so many different
Organizations
I mean You always say grace Yeah man Isn't, the brother apologized, and he spoke with so many different organizations. I mean,
you always say grace. Isn't it time
he apologized? He said he was sorry? You gotta give people
grace. Did his work?
Give people the same grace
you want God to give you, and if
that's too difficult, at least just give people the same
grace you want other
people to give you, because humans will
always fail purity tests.
Ain't none of y'all perfect. As much as y'all want to walk around and act like it, ain't none of y'all perfect. humans will always fail purity tests. Ain't none of y'all perfect. As much as y'all want to walk around
and act like it, ain't none of y'all perfect.
Humans will always fail purity tests.
Now the producer just sent a note that said allegedly
they did approve the baby
but they said the live stream was cut off when the
baby got on stage allegedly.
Oh lord. Okay.
But anyway, so shout
to Fifth, shout to the baby. Now also,
Roddy Ricch, he turned 23 last week 23
man well he turned 23 last week and instead of buying himself something he bought his dad a
brand new porsche a silver porsche 911 turbo s which ranges anywhere from about i would say 135
to 175 000 so he said gobs pops that 911 turbo as for my birthday i love you for life dad
which is pretty dope now young blue uh he purchased a baby monkey and he found out uh yesterday that
it wasn't actually a monkey it's a baboon do you know the difference between a monkey and a baboon
charlamagne i have no idea i hope you did because i don't producer do you know anybody in the
building know the difference between the difference between a baboon and a monkey?
No.
What's the difference between a baboon and a monkey?
Why do you keep asking this question?
I don't know.
I'm hoping maybe one of the producers is running and be like, hey, a baboon does this and a monkey does that.
Our producer said it's actually a chimpanzee and a baboon and a chimp is small and friendly.
He said it's on the sheet, dumbass.
That's what he said. He said it's on the sheet, dumbass. That's what he said. He said it's on the
sheet, dumbass. Alright.
Well, Angelia usually does this. She called
in... Hold on. I need you
to answer me this question. Why were you asking
that question? Because I didn't know the
difference between them. I didn't know what's the difference.
Well, what's the point? Why do we care about that on this fine
Friday morning? What did I miss? I'm just giving
you the rumors that he purchased it and he figured it was and he was upset about it.
Look, I don't do this.
Angel Lee is not here.
They do this thing in front of me, and I'm just trying to do the best that I can.
How about yourself?
How you doing?
How about you just report that Young Blue bought an expensive pet?
We did.
I say, what's the pet?
And you say a monkey.
And that'll be enough for me.
All right, let's do it.
Let's do it over.
Go.
Okay, go.
Now, Young Blue, he bought an expensive pet recently.
What'd he buy, Envy?
He thought it was a monkey, but it was actually a baboon.
There you go confusing me again.
All you had to do was say it was a monkey.
See, I just told you that.
And here you go.
Here you go bringing up the goddamn baboon, the chimpanzee again.
Just say monkey, man.
All right, I get it. When Mikeyson bought the white tiger back in the day i didn't
ask what kind of tiger it was i just like oh okay white tiger that's rich right cool there's the
tiger that was the name of it was the tiger it wasn't a lion tiger it wasn't a anyway and also
lastly uh squid game it says surpasses rare 3 billion minute viewing mark
so it's on the Nielsen top 10
chart over 3 billion people have watched
Squid Game right now
damn
great movie I mean
great TV show but like I keep saying
I don't want to see a sequel
to Squid Game you know what I mean
because I don't want to see that dude
turn around and go out and try to be on
some vigilante stuff. You ain't Batman.
What I would like to see is Squid Game
move on to different
areas. I want to see Squid Game
in the hood. That's what I want to see.
I want to see Squid Game in Detroit.
I want to see Squid Game in Newark. I want to see
Squid Game in Atlanta. Take Squid Game in the
damn Charleston, South Carolina.
That's what I want to see. My man Atlanta. Take Squid Game in the damn, you know, Charleston, South Carolina. That's what I want to see.
That would be dope.
My man, Hovane, had tweeted a while.
Yeah, and he turned around.
He turned around.
No, he turned around like he about to be on some tough guy stuff.
Like, I don't want to see that.
Yeah, but his daughter is in America.
His wife is in America.
So maybe he flies back there.
Maybe he creates one there.
We'll see.
But that is your rumor report.
Now, when we come back, we got front page news.
If you haven't heard, Facebook changed its name.
And we got a lot more.
So don't move.
And Yvonne Orji will be joining us next hour.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Your mornings will never be the same.

What could go wrong? No forefathers did that themselves.
What could go wrong?
No country willingly gives up their territory.
I was making a rocket with a black powder,
you know, with explosive warhead.
Oh my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
Bullets. We need help!
We need help!
We still have the off-road portion to go.

As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions,
but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt,
learning to trust herself and leaning into her dreams.
I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves.
For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step.
And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going.
This increment of small, determined moments.
Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
I forgive myself.
It's okay.
Like grace.
Have grace with yourself.
You're trying your best.
And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.

charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club let's get some front page news the last night was thursday night football and the packers
beat the cardinals 24 21 all right now if you haven't heard facebook is changing its name all
right the new name is called meta the word meta comes from the greek word meaning beyond i'm proud
of what we've built so far and excited about what comes next as we move beyond what's possible today,
beyond the constraints of screens, beyond the limits of distance and physics,
and towards a future where everyone can be present with each other, create new opportunities, and experience new things.
It's a future that is beyond any one company that will be made by all of us.
Yeah, so it's a metaverse.
It's a virtual world where you can plug yourself into and do, in theory, almost anything.
So, Charlemagne, you could be yourself.
You could be a robot.
You could have concerts.
You could do meetings.
It's like a virtual world.
I know exactly what it is.
And you know what?
Like I said earlier, reality as we know it is a wrap.
It's over between this and you know elon
must developing um the nora link which i'm not even mad at the nora link for people you know
dealing with paralysis but humans can literally be whatever it is they want to be and i just i
just don't see how this ends well for anybody. I really don't. Like, you know, what reason would somebody have to really go out there and chase their hopes and their dreams and their desires
when I can just sit in a little room and create whatever reality I want and that's going to be enough for me?
That's nuts, bro.
Well, he breaks it down some more.
Yes, there will be challenges and risks and disruption of established interests,
but there will also be opportunities and benefits that we can't even imagine yet
for connection, for creation, for learning and joy. We'll all need to work together from the
beginning to bring the best possible version of this future to life. A future where with
just a pair of glasses, you will be able to step beyond the physical world
and into the kinds of experiences that we have talked about today.
All right.
And lastly, how does you create in a virtual reality?
How does you create in a virtual reality for yourself change the world?
Like how?
Like think about all of these great innovators
and all of these great people who changed the world with their words.
What if they were in the house just sitting around creating a virtual reality and not actually being out in the streets, you know, touching people, breaking bread with people?
How would they have changed the world?
Yeah, you're absolutely right. You're absolutely right you're absolutely right I can see like this movie where everyone is home
creating a virtual reality for themselves
and then when they walk outside it's like
the world is just
stagnant it's like
it's like I am legend because everybody
been in the house or maybe it'll be better
actually if all the humans stay in the house
nah it's not gonna be better I mean you need people
you need to meet people you need to show love you need to express
feelings you can't just be online doing things.
I think that's whack.
You never leave the house.
No, that's horrible.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's horrible.
And like our producer says, well, you can do conference calls.
You can do conference calls now.
How about that?
I mean, you don't have to be in a virtual world where people can't see your face to see you as a robot.
Like, that makes no sense.
And former governor of New York, uh andrew cuomo has officially been
hit with his first criminal charge now uh prosecutors in albany announced the charges
on thursday the complaint filed by uh an officer said uh cuomo and i'll just say allegedly did it
knowingly and intentionally commit the act of forcible touching which is a class a misdemeanor
so we'll see how that plays out. Jesus Christ.
Who did Governor Cuomo piss off, boy?
Lord have mercy.
All right.
Well, that is your...
I'm telling you, this time last year, he was the man.
He was.
Damn, homie.
He saved New York City.
They loved him.
He should be running for mayor.
It was old.
My God.
Mayor, president.
What are you talking about?
Mayor.
President.
Yeah.
You tired, man.
I am. I shouldn't be doing this. All right. Well, this is your front. Yeah. You tired, man. I am.
I shouldn't be doing this.
All right.
Well, this is your front page news.
Now, when we come back.
So Angela Yee is out, if you just joined us.
We found out that she was out maybe two minutes before we were starting the show.
So they threw all this front page news and stuff in front of me.
What's so funny?
What's so funny?
The disgust in your voice is hilarious to me.
Okay.
It's disgusting.
I mean, if I'd have known the night before, I could have.
All right, all right, all right.
No need to bring this to the radio.
Okay, whatever.
All right, okay.
We got Yvonne Orji.
We got Yvonne Orji coming in next. Yvonne Orji will be joining us next.
So we'll be kicking it with Yvonne Orji when we come back.
Of course, you know her from Insecure.
She's a comedian, actress, author, all that.
So we'll talk to Yvonne Orji when we come back, and it's The Breakfast Club.
Come on in.
The Breakfast Club.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We got a special guest in the building.
And she look rich, like filthy rich.
Sequins on the boots. You already rich Appreciate y'all I was for somebody else that came on here from the show. It's cool. It's cool.
It's cool.
I love y'all, too.
Now, listen, when you get this thing off.
Yo, you were close with that.
Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool.
So what we gonna do.
But good to see you.
How are you?
Good to see you.
How are you?
How was your pandemic?
Man, I worked.
Issa and I, we called each other actually like around June of 2020.
And we're like, or like yo yo who
all these people who are bored and don't have anything to do because now people
know where we are you know like you can have like that cloak of like invisible
I'm busy I'm traveling everybody was home so I was like no no we know your
home we know you at the house so what can you do this other thing and me so
like we got like eight other things that we're doing like I don't like that people can find this
So we worked Have mercy. I'm going to send it to my dad in Nigeria. I'll be back there. You re-gift a lot?
You re-gifted?
Yeah, I can.
Sorry, wait.
Someone get this.
We got too many bottles.
I got nobody name on it.
It might say Angela.
I'm like, thank you, Angela, for everything you've done for us.
I'm like, dang it, they got me.
No, it was busy.
I think by the time December of 2020 came around is when it was just like,
I think like my,
a plan of mine got canceled and it was the first time that I was like,
man,
this pandemic sucks.
And,
uh,
my friend was like,
so you mean you just now feeling what everybody else is doing? Wow.
Like,
don't,
don't say that in public.
And I was just like,
yo,
you're right.
And I had to,
I was like,
y'all mad grateful that like,
I wasn't able to feel the breadth of it in terms of like how everyone else did. Cause we were just on autopilot. I was writing a book. I was just like, yo, you right. And I had to, I was like, yo, I'm mad grateful that, like, I wasn't able to feel the brunt
of it in terms of, like, how everyone else did.
Because we were just on autopilot.
I was writing a book.
I was premiering the special.
We were, like, we were doing Insecure Season 4 promo.
It was a lot just rolling.
Yeah, you did have a lot.
And I didn't have time to stop.
And then I realized, I was like, no, I need to sit down because the world's going to open
back up again. I'm going to be real upset that I didn't sit down right so that's what I remember you saying
last time we spoke to you you wrote the book yourself and you were like damn it why did I do
that to myself I told you not to do that I understand I understand why and how people have
other people write their book I just wanted for, for me, I wanted that to prove myself
like a rapper, it's like, I write my own rhymes.
But after a while, I was like, no, it's okay,
you can get a ghostwriter.
Give him a help.
I mean, I write, but you get somebody else
to just flesh it out, do the research
and all that other stuff.
But I'm actually glad that I wrote it
because in the process of writing it, I became myself.
Right.
You know, and I had to go through the journey
of not trying to be perfect or say the right thing.
It was like, no, no, no, no.
You're going to be vulnerable
and you're going to really tap into like
who you are and what your voice is.
It's relatable.
Cause you talk about your first hour long
headliner set that you did,
which I thought was a great story
because a lot of times we do doubt ourselves.
You know, when you agree to do something
and you like, don't feel like you're ready for it
and then you're hoping that it's gonna get
canceled. Yo, I think
the biggest lesson I learned from that was that my agent
gave me the freedom
to fail. And as
an immigrant, that's not a thing that we give
ourselves. It's like, literally, she was just like,
well, let's just see. I was like, no, Heidi.
We not about to let's just see, because
it's in Atlanta. If it don't work
out, I'm gonna be the one on stage getting booed.
But she was just like, well, it'll let us know where you are.
Like we can figure out like if you need another 30 minutes or like if you just need a full hour.
Like, let's just see.
And that's so hard when you're a perfectionist.
I'm a recovering perfectionist.
But when you're a perfectionist or when you're Nigerian, we literally say like,
we can't finish
second. So the idea of let's
just see it. If it fails, it's fine. We can regroup.
No. Failure is like literally
never an option. And in that moment
she was giving me the luxury
of failing.
That was a pivotal moment that changed
and then I got my hour.
What is something that Yvonne Orji is hard on
herself about? Because you always seem like so positive and go with the flow type.
Well, you know, ease and flow is my new word.
Like, I pick a word at the beginning of the year.
Those are my words for 2021.
Okay.
Because I was really, I said this year I'm becoming less Nigerian.
Don't worry, I love y'all.
But I had to undo the gangsterness that comes from hustle and grind.
Because I know that.
Like, that's been my security blanket.
And it's worked.
Like, I've got successful hustle and grinding.
And God was like, can I show you another way?
Just can you, like, sit back and receive?
And I was like, yeah.
I want it.
It sounded good.
And I'll never forget after we wrapped season five of Insecure.
Like, I found myself just like,
like with not a lot to do for the first time in a long time.
And I remember my therapy session and I was like,
yo fam,
I feel mad lazy right now.
Like,
I don't know what to do.
Like,
I feel lazy.
I feel like I'm like,
what,
what,
what,
what,
who am I?
She was like,
are you lazy or is your body just at rest from a decade of working?
I was like,
well,
read me.
I was like, is your name Dr. Rhonda too? of working? I was like, well, read me, man.
I was like, is your name Dr. Rhonda, too?
Like, what's going on?
And that also freed me to be like, yo, we put it on ourselves. Like, I've really done a great job of separating my work from my worth.
And I'm like, I'm so at peace with it.
That's why I be traveling.
I'm just like, oh, I don't, in this season,
I don't feel compelled to, like, keep up. I've done what I've done, and things are in this season, I don't feel compelled to like keep up.
I've just, I've done what I've done and things are in the oven and when they come out, they
come out.
So you're cool with just relaxing and chilling out?
Yes, I got to make space for my boo.
I got to make space.
You know what I'm saying?
I haven't got to that point.
Like, I feel like if I'm not doing something, I feel like, oh, I'm not doing nothing.
I got to work.
I'm lazy.
I can't stop that.
Therapy helps.
Yes.
And in therapy, they'll tell you that being busy is a trauma response a lot of times.
Like you staying busy because you're running from something.
You're afraid what may happen if you sit down and just be alone with yourself and your thoughts.
So you said you have to make space for a boo.
I do.
So how does one do that?
By being the best you.
Like all the things that I'm doing right now, I'm like, yo, I'm giving you the blueprint.
You can't come into my life and be like, well, we didn't know you liked to travel.
Exhibit A.
You know what?
In your book, you also talk about, because you talk about a Chris Rock joke that he had about Janet Jackson and Jemaine Dupri, right?
So when it comes to you looking for a guy and standards, what would you say you're looking for?
Like, you have to be currently walking
in your purpose. I can't do
no science fair projects. I appreciate
everybody that's on the come up and do
I'm just not there right now in
my life to support that.
And you know what? And there are going to be some people that are like
you missed out on. I did. I did.
In this point
in my life, I need a fully
formed human being who is
currently working on themselves, knows who they
are, confident in who they are, and
fulfilling purpose. You need a partner, not a project.
Every single homegirl I got says that. I need
a partner, not a project.
I think the thing about it is,
okay, so you get married, you're going to be working.
Any relationship is work.
We've all been in them.
But it's just, it depends on the kind of work.
Like, so people look at comedy and like, oh, that's hard work.
No, I look at brain surgery and I'm like, that's hard work.
That's right.
You know what I'm saying?
And a brain surgeon is like, this is easy.
You got to be in front of people.
So everybody's work is different.
And so for me, I'm like, I want to start here and work here.
All right, we have more with Yvonne Orji.
When we come back, don't move.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We're still kicking it with Yvonne Orji.
Yee.
So what happened with your ex?
Because you had a third. Don't do that.
Wait.
Don't do that.
You had the boo, and then all of a sudden,
I didn't know what happened.
Yeah, I needed it out.
How you turn to Molly season four just now?
That was evil Molly just now.
Don't do that.
What is it? Positive or negative?
I would say positive on this one.
I did read what you said.
You did get upset with Issa for the first time.
Was that real? I didn't get upset. We had beef. with Issa for the first time. Was that real?
I didn't get upset.
We had beef.
We had beef for the first time on the storyline this season.
What was it?
Why?
I ain't going to tell y'all.
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
It hasn't happened yet.
All right, I hope you redeem yourself because, you know.
Well, did you watch episode one?
Yes, yes.
Okay, y'all are back to, yeah.
My God.
Angelina.
I just want to make sure it's consistent and it's not just a quick comeback.
Because, you know, a fractured friendship, does it come back stronger like your bones when they break?
Or is it more fragile?
Issa and I actually sat at the theater because we had, before premiere week,
we had people come into the theater to watch.
This is one through four.
And we watched, it was me, the young lady who Molly is based off of,
Issa's best
friend and isa together and so we were keeping a tally like strike two for isa strike ten and then
it was like ah strike five for molly like it was like she had a super strike and i was like okay i
could i definitely could see it but it was it went both ways i just found out about the fact that
molly is based off issa's real best friend.
So did you ever consult with her through any of these seasons?
I didn't consult with her, but I did meet her.
The first time we met, Issa was like, this is who Molly's based off.
And so we had to say mannerisms in one moment, and then we started dancing.
It was like, I am you, and she is me.
And then we just became friends over the seasons.
And she's great.
She's the life of the party for sure.
Are y'all going to piss people off every week?
Is there going to be something on Insecure that's going to make people fake outrage?
We wouldn't be insecure.
But see, we're not purposely trying to piss people off.
Y'all just get pissed off because it's such a real life.
What did you think about the AKA controversy?
It wasn't a controversy.
Uh-oh. It really wasn't. I'm glad you said that. the AKA controversy? It wasn't a controversy. Uh-oh.
It really wasn't. I'm glad you said that. It was noise. I'm not upset. Okay.
I'm not an AKA. I can't
speak to it. I mean, but it was
established that
both Molly and Tiffany were AKAs
in season one because we had that party
at the house. So I
don't know where the controversy came from
and, you know, I can't speak.
I'm not, I didn't pledge nobody's.
I put me for G.
Ah, that's me for G.
Okay, that's, I don't choose that.
That's a me for G.
Well, let me get my membership.
Where the letter's at?
So, you know, I can understand, you know,
obviously I have trademarks and whatnot.
But, you know, I think what we have done in the show is to represent a lot of black institutions
and black themes, especially in South LA, et cetera, in a positive light.
And we try our best to do that.
That's all I can say about that.
Did they get clearance or not?
Or you don't know?
That's my pay grade.
I just drink positivity water.
Too much clearance. That's a legal question? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just drink positivity water. Too much curse.
That is not a, that's a legal question?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know.
You know what I love in your book, Chapter 4, you say,
don't allow yourself to disqualify what you bring to the table
just because someone else sat down before you.
Yeah.
Explain that.
No, it's real because it's easy to be like, ah, this person's popping this way.
Man, my stuff is trash.
And it's like, no, no, no popping this way. Man, my stuff is trash.
And it's like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
So it's just like what you have is what you have.
And people don't even know they have an appetite for what you have to offer until you bring it to the table.
Right.
I want to address something, no, that happened recently,
and I want to get your take on it.
Because from when I first met you, I always thought you have a great spirit,
great energy.
And on Twitter recently somebody was talking about that interaction
where she felt like you played her a little bit.
So I want you to tell your side of that story.
What happened?
She was in the audience of something.
You were speaking on a panel and she asked to take a picture.
And you said not right now or something like that.
And then you got up and kind of called her out like she should have been more persistent.
Yeah.
You know, so it's a lot of things. Right. And then you got up and kind of called her out like she had been more persistent. Yeah, you know
So it's a lot of things right in that moment So that was like three years ago that that tape was from like three years ago
And in that moment I can totally when I when I found out about I was like I could totally see how
She perceived it the way she did and I'm like I eat that and I own that like oh, that's my bad
Cuz that's never my intention
It was one of those situations. I was about to speak it like Forbes and I own that. Like, oh, that's my bad because that's never my intention. It was one of those situations I was about to speak at, like, Forbes.
And I'm a comedian.
This is now, like, a keynote.
Right.
And so, and it's Forbes.
And I was like, I'm nervous as heck because I'm like, this is not out of my element, but it's a new element.
And it's like, I got the mic in my hand.
And, you know, right before I go on stage, it's like, can I get a picture?
And it's like, I need to remember my first line. Right. So, in that moment, it was like, no, no, you know, right before I go on stage, it's like, can I get a picture? And it's like, I need to remember my first line.
So in that moment, it was like, no, no, you know, no.
And so if you watch the whole speech is available on on YouTube, because that was like a 15 second clip.
So the context of that is I was about to go into my first talking point, which is I never accept no for an answer.
And in that moment as a comic, I remember I'm i'm like ah but i just told this chick no so like how do i clean this up like
either because i know now somebody in the audience is feeling like well you just told me you know me
so then like trying to be uh what do you call it like just improv he was like i know i just told
you no okay well you know you just told you no. Ha!
Okay, well, you know,
you just got to, you know, so I'm trying to clean it up
and I'm like, yo,
I can accept when the joke went bad.
And also, we're not at the comedy club,
so the context of it is like
very different.
I've done something similar.
And it was improv on the spot, too.
It was improv on the spot,
so I'm not,
I'm trying to connect it
just so I can move on
and you're just like,
it's not landing.
Let me just, ah!
You know, and I can fully understand
how, in her mind, she's like, what the hell? Like, why would you? I'm not thinking that because I'm really just like, it's not landing let me just you know and I and I can fully understand how in
her mind she's like what the hell like why would you I'm not thinking that
because I'm really just like I just got us I got ten minutes to do a keynote
trying to clean this up make sure she's good but like you know and so when I saw
the tape I was like oh dang never my intention but I completely understand
and in my mind I'm like yeah I would have here's the crazy thing right after
I got off the stage because we were in, I had to take a flight for the season three finale.
So you never took a picture.
So I normally the me that I am would have been like, hey, sis, where you at?
Hey, let's get this picture.
And but I literally got off the stage and went on the flight.
So when I saw it popping off, I was just like, oh, snap.
And then when the crazy thing about it is when I when I apologize, even though people think it wasn't an apology,
well, hey, this is me apologizing right now, so I apologize.
The first thing, the first comment is like,
it's too late to apologize.
I don't know if there was a thing to apologize for.
You know what I mean?
And in that moment, I just muted it because I said,
I pay too much in therapy.
And when everything popped off, I checked myself to myself and said, all right, well,
this probably wasn't your best moment, but it doesn't track with who the you that you
are.
Like, this is a moment.
This is not definitive of who you are.
Absolutely.
There's another conversation to be had, though, because I think that the no you're talking
about in regard to like pursuing your dreams, chasing your goals is different than the no to respect my boundary
because in that moment you had to do a keynote speech yeah yeah you were like no not right now
because you're focused you're locked in i don't think that's disrespectful no you just set the
boundary the woman was upset because she called her out and pointed her out yeah as part of that
but it was a improv type of thing and and I think as a comedian, when you're trying things out,
it doesn't always land.
Definitely, but I still want to talk about the fact that,
because I don't know if you've ever seen that piece
that Debbie Brown did about setting boundaries
and about how sometimes no has nothing to do
with the other person.
Don't take my no personal.
My no is for me.
I'd be having to explain it.
I got a facial the other day, and I was leaving,
and this guy was like, can I take a picture?
Mind you, my face is all red. I was like, ah, I'm going to be honest. I just a facial the other day and I was leaving and this guy was like, can I take a picture? Mind you, my face is all red.
I was like, I'm going to be
honest. I just had a facial right now so
I don't think it's the best time for me to be taking a
picture. I was like, man,
I hope he doesn't hate me. People get upset
because they're fans, right? And they never
see you. So all of a sudden, here's this person I hear on the
radio. Here's this person I see on television.
Let me just take this picture, please. I want to show the family. When you say
no, they get hurt and crushed they take it personal we'll see that
i've read something that says if you ask a question and you don't anticipate no as an option
was it a question or a demand that's right and so you know like was it a question or a demand and
i think we need to like really understand it because like you take it so personally but
you i you ask the questions. I have a choice.
And I'm hoping that.
And I think one thing that I reason why I muted like all of the things is because at some point I realized I'm like, oh, people don't want like they don't want an apology.
They don't want atonement.
They want blood.
Correct. And I'm like, that's it.
I don't I don't operate in that.
Because then it's like, well, what's the statute of limitation?
You know, like, am I apologizing forever am i is there have we never done anything in our lives because
if if you have never done anything in your life then i need to stop praying to the person i'm
praying to like i need what's your name i'm gonna put your name in my Bible because i found a new i
found a new idol you know what i'm saying like all have something, but it's just this thing of like,
you're supposed to be perfect because you're on TV.
It's like, I'm like, in what world?
In what world?
All right, well, don't move.
We have more with Yvonne Orji when we come back.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Hey, guys.
I'm Kate Max.
You might know me from my popular online series,
The Running Interview Show,
where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs,
the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a
chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys,
and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together.
You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout?
Well, that's when the real magic happens.
So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know,
follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High.
It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all.
It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun.

Is your country falling apart?
Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary?
Consider this. Start your own country.
I planted the flag.
I just kind of looked out of like,
this is mine. I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete.
Everybody's doing it.
I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
I am the Queen of Laudonia.
I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg.
I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Be part of a great colonial tradition.
The Waikana tribe owned country.
Listen to Escape from Zakistan.
And we're losing daylight fast.
That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions,
but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt,
learning to trust herself, and leaning into her dreams.
Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty
on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We're still kicking it with Yvonne Orji.
Yee.
Can you find the funny in anything you think?
I find the funny in a lot of things.
Almost anything.
There's some things that are like, no, we're not going to touch that one.
We're not going to touch that one.
But like often, I'll never forget.
This is what I knew.
I'm like, oh, God has a sense of humor. I'll never forget. I was I knew I'm like oh God has a sense of humor I'll never forget I was a college student and I was
like new in Christianity and I was walking to the the train station at GW
and this dude rolled up on me like it was not a great car it was not a great
car but you know you know when you got the internships and I had like my
grandmama's pearls on I was trying to be somebody and he was like my grandmama's pearls on. I was trying to be somebody. And he was like, hey, how you doing, shorty?
And I said, and I was like, who does he think he is?
And he hollered at me and loud as day, Holy Spirit said,
but he in the car and you walking to the bus stop.
I was like, what side are you on?
But it was a very humbling experience.
And I had to like, I laughed out loud.
Like, you right.
But still, like, daddy, come on, son. Like, have some respect. Did you speak with the young man? I did not. I don't loud like you right, but still like
I did not I don't remember you might have missed your blessing I did not I might have been God talking you give it a second chance
I might like he got a car just give us just say so say hi back whoever you are. Hope things are working out
But God bless the paper pay for stuff when you're with Issa?
Yes, Issa and I go back and forth.
I would never pay for nothing when I was with Issa.
Well, you're the gentleman.
You should pay.
I have a rule that if you're richer than me,
you should have to pick up the tab.
No, I act like I'm going to pay.
You know what I mean?
So you do the fake reach?
You do the fake reach?
Absolutely.
I don't like when I'm with people.
She's a jerk.
I don't like when I'm with people, and they expect you to pay all the time. I don't like when I'm with people. She's a jerk. I don't like when I'm with people and they expect you to pay all the time.
I don't like expectations, period.
Right, and then they never even pretend to pay.
And then they don't even be saying thank you.
No.
Like, they're just used to it.
So what I do, this happened recently.
So we all went out and the check came.
So I just waited.
I'm like, let's see.
Let's see what everybody's doing.
No, because I got my points. Let's see what everybody's doing. Nah, because I got my points.
Let's see what everybody's doing.
Now you're also hosting Yearly Departed, right?
So talk to me about that, because that's all women.
Phenomenal.
Comedians.
I feel like there's a great time right now for women in comedy.
What do you think?
I think so, too.
That project was really special, because I literally had just come from Insecure that's like black and black and black and black.
You know, it's just like lots of brown and brown stories, brown characters to jump now into like, oh, all women.
It's like I love when representation is really represented.
So it was like female producers, a female director and a female comedic actor.
So everybody wasn't a comedian, but they were like comedy in the comedy side guy space.
And it was beautiful
because everybody
just brought their specialty
and people that I had never met
or interacted with
and seeing just how,
like people were gracious.
I think it's going to be fun.
I think it comes out
like middle of December.
It's going to be good.
I host it.
I have two like monologues
and I think they were happy.
And it's nice
when you're the host.
I like it though. Yeah. I just, I happy. And it ain't nice when you the host. I like it, though.
Yeah.
I just did some, I just hosted Ellen.
I co-hosted Ellen.
Like, oh, guest hosted Ellen.
So that's going to come out.
You think you would want to do that?
Like daytime every day?
You don't have, you could do that.
You have time for that?
I mean, I enjoyed it in the sense,
I don't necessarily, how do I say this?
If I were to do it, I would want it to be like the big joint.
You know what I mean?
I would want it to be the big joint.
Now, was there any part of you that really related to Molly last season?
And was that tough on you psychologically?
Because you've been the fan favorite for so long.
You know, pressure breakers were rough.
And I was saying like season one, I felt like I didn't understand Molly.
I was like, who is this chick?
Like, I didn't have a lot of Mollies in my life.
And so I was, like, learning her.
And then season two was kind of like, oh, she was teaching me some stuff.
And then, you know, at some point I was teaching her.
We were all kind of, like like either ahead of each other.
And so now we're kind of parallel a little bit.
And it's interesting because going through, you know,
not being on set with Issa, I was shook.
I was like, yo, Issa, who wrote this season?
Like, we're not on set together.
Like, when I see you, we fighting.
And like, this don't sit right with my spirit, but I understood.
But I am acting. I understood the storyline, but I was like, fighting like this don't sit right with my spirit but I understood but I am acting I understood the storyline but I was like yo this is trash
but I
learned in that season cause it's like yo
you go as an adult going through a friendship breakup
that's it's wild it's rough and there's
so many nuances did you think that this
would have an impact on y'all real relationship
though I mean the fact because of the storyline
and y'all wasn't spending that much time on set,
did it ever, like, man, this might impact our
real friendship? No, because it was all love.
I feel like the
season finale is
when I was like,
I gotta let you go. Like, it's like,
you're my friend, but like,
I'm really, like, you're
released into the world now. Like, you're a different
Issa than when we started and like we're not gonna be
Spending four to six months together every year and it was it was kind of like it wasn't it wasn't a goodbye cuz I know
What you are like we still text everybody, you know every day and she's dope but it was like
Like you're not mine, you know, like I really took ownership of what we had. I found myself emotional last Sunday when we premiered.
She was just like, because we spent Thursday together,
Friday together, Saturday together,
and Sunday I was just in the bathtub listening to Gideon.
This sounds so sad.
So damn sad.
But it was also like, y'all.
You smoked a cigarette.
Journaling.
So she was like, girl like girl you gonna come watch the
premiere but I was like girl one I'm tired too like I'm just being my feelings she was like not
you sitting in the bathtub crying I was like not you not respecting my morning babe uh but it was
and it was funny because when she cracked me up I was like that's why I love you because like she
instantly got me out of my thing because for me me, this is the thing that ushered me
into the platform that I have.
And I know I'm doing other things.
So not even like I'm going to do other things.
I'm doing other things.
But it is this feeling of like when you graduate college,
you still cry.
No point in tending.
It's like a sorority.
So this was college for y'all.
And y'all going out into the world.
Y'all got each other forever.
Now, Molly also was in an interracial relationship.
And now that you're single, could you see that for you?
I could.
I could.
Like, I want to be happy.
And I think when people see interracial, they think, like, black or white.
I'm like, there's so many races out there, you know?
Hello.
Black and Chinese.
Hey.
I wonder if you'll be able to trust a guy, though,
because you're a different person.
You're rich now.
You got all of these things going on.
He's going to have more money than me. Ooh. How are you going to know that, though? He's going to have more money than me. That's right. How do you know that? Because you a different person you rich now you got all of these things
He's going to have let me speak English
but if on social media
it appears that he has
a lot of money
but he did a bunch
of PPP scams
I'm not dealing
with social media
he's not a project
but he just doesn't
have as much money as you
do you got money
he treats you well
yes
I'm dead broke
but he treats you well
he would not be an option
would your parents
be disappointed
if you're not
with a Nigerian man
I want to be happy no I'm just asking because I know We treat you well. We would not be an option. Would your parents be disappointed if you're not with a Nigerian man?
I want to be happy.
No, I'm just asking because I know for, you know.
I mean, I'm my dad's only daughter.
And so my dad wants to have the whole traditional wedding, got the dowry.
So you brought a Caucasian guy home to your dad?
There are so many different types of men in this world.
There's so many. There of men in this world. There's so many.
There's a gamut of them.
But I think after they understand, because I already did that. I tried to give them the thing that they wanted, and it didn't work out.
And I was like, are we good now?
Wonderful.
And so I'm happy.
How much do looks matter?
They matter a lot.
Like looks, physique.
Yo, earlier you said it was nothing.
You just wanted a man that wasn't a project.
All I'm learning from this conversation, Yvonne,
is your dreams are your dreams,
and you shouldn't share them with other people
because you got dream killers out there.
You know what I mean?
No, I'm a sheriff.
My God.
I'm a sheriff because no matter what the attacks go,
when the dream manifests,
remember when you told me, F FB that I couldn't have
what I wanted?
That guy that was driving past you at the bus stop
right there?
That's all you heard from this conversation.
I'm so disappointed
in you and your hoodie.
I'm so disappointed.
I'm disappointed in you and your hoodie.
Thank you.
I did the snort.
I'm the snort, yes.
Dear future husband,
I hope you like my sense of humor and my snort.
Bamboozled by Jesus
is out right now.
Yes, and insecure
every Sunday
till the day after Christmas,
10 o'clock on HBO and HBO Max.
All right.
Well, we appreciate you
for joining us.
It's The Breakfast Club,
Yvonne Orch.
It's time.
She's spilling the tea. This is
the Rumor Report with Angela Yee
on the Breakfast Club.
Now for those that don't know,
Damien Lillard of course plays for the Portland
Trailblazers, but he also raps and
he's pretty good when it comes to the
bars. Would you say so, Sean? He raps his ass off.
Yes, he does. He raps his ass off.
Now he stopped by Connecticut's own bars on I-95 for a freestyle,
and the brother went in.
Hey, drop one of Clues' bombs for bars on I-95, man.
I love that.
I love what they doing.
I love the Papoose freestyle they had.
I just like to see when they have spitters on there.
Soot the bars on I-95.
Let's listen.
I'd end up being my Achilles heel.
Hector, I'm on my shield.
Trying to get next to freaking Dirk on that lonely hill. Now my Listen. Okay.
Drop on the clues bombs for Damian Lillard.
I love the fact that ESPN and Fox Sports have to report on that story through a Damian Lillard rap.
They have to report on Damian Lillard saying him not joining the super team might be his Achilles.
I think that's what he said.
But I like the fact that they're going to have to report on it through a Damian Lillard rap.
And they're going to have to cite bars on I-95.
Also, bars on I-95, from what I saw on Damian Lillard's Twitter page,
they went to Portland to go get that rap.
So I respect the hustle, man.
I respect the grind.
Salute to y'all.
Shout out to those guys.
Now, Michelle Obama, she'll be guest starring in an episode of Black-ish as it's heading into its eighth and final season.
That's pretty dope, right?
Sure.
Yeah.
I'm mad at that.
And also Nas.
Nas is going to be directing the documentary on Video Music Box.
Now, if you don't know what Video Music Box is, it was the first place to play hip hop videos.
So shout out to Uncle Ralph, Ralph McDaniels, who became one of the founders of Video Music Box. He's from Queens. He was the first one. So all those first videos, whether it was Run DMC, LL Cool J, The Wu-Tangs, Method Manz, B.I.G., Tupac, Hov, he was the first one and the only one to play it it would come on right after
school so you'd have to rush home to check it out and uh he would also go to clubs so in between him
doing interviews in clubs and talking to people and talking to the artists he would also be playing
the videos shout to uncle ralph a great brother great individual i love you uncle ralph um and i
can't wait to see that yeah salute to the good brother brother Ralph McDaniels, I mean Ralph McDaniels
Is sitting on diamonds and gold man
He's got decades
Of you know
Documenting the culture
Documenting hip hop
That's worth billions of dollars
You know
This is a no brainer
To do a video music box documentary
Is a no brainer and the crazy part a Video Music Box documentary is a no-brainer.
And the crazy part is Uncle Ralph got the kind of footage
that can help so many other artists with their documentaries.
You know what I mean?
Because he's got so much archive footage
that when these artists are working on their docs,
they got to go to Uncle Ralph to be like,
yo, can I license that?
Can I put that in my doc?
He's got diamonds, man.
He's got diamonds.
Now, also, Young Miami, she released a single last night, this morning, I should say.
It's called Rat Freaks.
And she calls out everybody from Lil Baby, 50 Cent, and Diddy.
Let's play a clip of it right fast. So this song, she's calling out every rapper imaginable that you can think of.
Dropping the Clues bombs for Young Miami.
I love Young Miami.
I'm telling you, man.
The Roaches.
Biggie did that with Dreams,
effing R&B chick back in the day.
I just think that's a very unique way to express yourself on a record.
I'm telling you, man, I can't wait till Lil Nas X do his version.
Lil Nas X, you on deck.
Hey, I'm not playing.
You've heard me say this a million times.
That is my dream.
Lil Nas X, you on deck.
Lil Nas X, your dream is on deck, okay?
Hey, Lil Nas X, however I can help you make that come to fruition,
please let me know.
That would be hilarious.
Can you imagine that day on social media when Lil Nas X dropped his version of Dreams, f and r and b chick uh uh what's the
young miami record called uh it's rap freaks so if he does rap man who's the first artist he should
go man hey i'm not i'm not i'm not lending out no bars i'll give lord nazx some bars i got some
i got a few bars already ready for lord nazx now Nas, just holler at me, Lord Nas X.
Okay?
We make this happen.
Before we play that full version, who are you giving your donkey to?
Oh, Peter.
Peter needs to come to the front of the organization this morning.
I'm sick of him.
All right?
We all sick of Peter.
All right?
We need to talk about Peter before after the hour.
All right.
Well, let's play the full version of Rap Freaks.
This is Young Miami.
And donkey, the day is up next. It's the Breakfast Club. All right. Well, let's play the full version of Rap Freaks. This is Young Miami. And, Dawg, today's up next.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
Your mornings will never be the same.
Angela here talking about my friends at The General Insurance.

Some restrictions apply. Don't get a name, please, Deli. Absolutely. I have become donkey of the day. It's a breakfast club, bitches.
You're a donkey.
Donkey of the day for Friday, October 29th goes to PETA.
How do I say this respectfully?
PETA, I'm just sick of y'all.
I really am.
Okay, we all are.
I bet if I did a survey, 100% of Americans who aren't members of PETeter would agree that we just playing sick of y'all okay we just are with all the real issues
in the world here y'all come protesting and raising hell over things that don't make any
logical sense why is peter getting donkey of the day-to-day let's go to wfxg fox 54 for the report
please the animal rights organization peter has called for baseball to eliminate the term bullpen to describe the location where pitchers warm up PETA says the
term connotates cruelty to bulls it suggests baseball instead adopts the term armbar
so would it offend them to say this story is some bull?
Huh?
Yes. I guess this whole segment offends them.
Donkey of the day.
You know, reducing people to donkeys.
First of all, what bothers me about all of this is we are telling people what's offensive to animals.
Unless one of y'all is Dr. Doolittle and have talked to these animals, all right, and these animals have talked back to you, then how the hell y'all know, all right?
Humans named these species of creatures we call bulls.
A bull didn't walk up to a human and say, hi, I am a bull.
All these people with me, we're all bulls.
I'm bull one, that's bull two, that's bull three, that's bull four.
In fact, that's what's actually offensive, that you all give one population of creatures the same exact name oh you don't think it's rude
imagine someone not calling you by your real individual name and just lumping you all in
together and making general statements like the whites the blacks you women the gays, the Jews, the Mexicans at the border, the Haitians at the border. No,
these are people. Okay. I know you attempted to herd the Haitian, you know, migrants like cattle
at the border some weeks ago, but these are people with names, souls, personalities, just like these
animals that y'all just be naming and then getting mad at us for using names that you made up to describe them.
Not to mention the word bull isn't just a word for an uncastrated adult male of domestic cattle.
It is also a person who buys shares hoping to sell them at a higher price later.
And guess what?
Words matter.
So when you put the words bull and pin together, I know exactly what they're talking about.
And it has nothing to do with uncastrated bales of domestic cattle or a person who buys shares hoping to sell them at a higher price later.
And even if it did, so what?
They're paying homage to the bull by calling it the bull pit.
That's respect if you ask me.
What's next?
You going to try to get the Chicago Bulls to change their name?
Huh?
Bulls are associated with the greatest NBA player in history.
All right?
One of the greatest NBA – no, not one of.
The greatest NBA player in history calls himself a Bull.
Okay?
One of the greatest organizations in history, the Chicago Bulls,
called themselves a Bull. And you're going to take that from them?
You don't really love bulls like you say you do.
Now they want to change the name of the bullpen to the Arm Barn.
Did I hear that right?
Was it Arm Barn?
Well, as a person with two arms, this offends me.
Have they consulted with arms around the world to see if
this is okay? Huh? How come the same rules for bulls don't apply to arms? And furthermore, Peter,
have you talked to any cows, horses, pigs, sheeps, goats, chickens, maybe, and ask them if it's okay
to name this place after where they live? I couldn't just call something an armed mosque or an armed synagogue
or armed cello. There would be consequences and repercussions to doing that. But since you know
animals can't speak for themselves, you know, or at least to us humans, you have decided to speak
for them and try to tell us what we can or can't do or what we can and can't say about them. It's wrong when we choose to name something after a name humans gave said something.
But when PETA does it, it's fine.
Tracy Ryman, a PETA exec, said words matter.
OK, in baseball bullpens, devalue talented players and mock the misery of sensitive animals.
Not only are you telling animals what they are called,
you're telling them how they feel now?
The gall, Peter.
You don't know if they're actually bulls.
That's what humans name them.
And you damn sure don't know if they're sensitive.
The arrogance.
Moral of the story, we named all these creatures.
We named all these things. We named all these things.
Humans.
That's something somebody made up.
Everything on this planet, living or not, is named something because someone gave it said name.
We only humans because someone said we were humans?
Hell, we could have been sugar.
All right?
Sugar could be called blood.
Tables could be called chairs.
Chairs could be walls.
Names are just words that we use to identify.
And until someone at PETA
has talked to a bull to tell
me that a bull is offended
by the term bullpen, I'm going
to have to call bull on this
whole situation, okay? I'm going
to need PETA to shut the F
up forever.
Please give PETA the sweet sounds of the Hamiltons.
Oh, now you are the
donkey
of the day.
You are
the donkey
of the
day.
Yeehaw.
Yeehaw.
By the way,
Peter said they don't want athletes saying that they pulled their hamstring anymore.
They said it's offensive to pigs and shrinks.
And don't refer to people as having camel toe.
It's offensive to camel and toes.
And do you know one of the greatest joys of my life was when we had Ingrid Newkirk, CEO of PETA.
You know, the Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club speaks to a wide range of people.
And I love talking to people from, you know,
different areas of life.
And when Ingrid Newkirk, CEO of PETA, was on here,
oh, it brought me so much happiness to talk to her.
You hear me?
Can we play a little bit of that?
Dan, let's flashback.
Same difference.
We ate everybody else.
And I say everybody.
Like who?
Well, we ate Veal, for example.
Tasty.
No, you know, hey, Charmin, you know veal?
It's the baby cow.
And the mother loves that cow.
That's why I'm so tender.
Mother's love.
I've heard a lot of people say you should always eat the mother if you're going to eat the child, too.
Well, it actually would be a courtesy if you shot the mother first in the head when she wasn't looking.
But no.
I am a more healed version of myself and I try to see things from, you know, a lot of different perspectives.
This perspective would never make any sense to me.
All right.
Well, thank you for that donkey of the day.
Now, up next from the WWE, we have Big E joining us.
Now, I don't watch wrestling like that anymore.
He's not just from the WWE.
He's what?
I said I don't watch wrestling like that anymore.
So tell me about Big E.
Big E was a member of the New Day.
The New Day got really popular in the WWE.
And now Big E is the WWE
World Champion. Only the fourth
black WWE
world champion
ever.
I'm not going to sit here and act like I watch
a lot of wrestling either, but I watch
enough to know through
my man Kaz
and my man Wale to know who Big E
is. So I'm going to enjoy this conversation.
Oh, yeah.
All right, so we'll get into that.
Man, shut up.
Macho man Randy Sissy.
That's what you sound like.
What you going to do when I put these hands on you?
No, I don't think that was Macho Man.
That might have been Macho Man.
That was Hulk Hogan. That was supposed to be Hulk. I would think that was Hulk Hogan. That might have been Macho Man. That was Hulk Hogan.
That was supposed to be Hulk.
I would think that was Hulk Hogan.
That was definitely Hulk Hogan.
All right.
Anyway, Big E, when we come back.
You just channeled a racist.
Oh, you're right.
Sorry.
Sorry.
All right.
Well, the Big E, when we come back, is The Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club.
Your mornings will never be the same.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We got a special guest in the building.
We're the WWE Champion.
The brother, y'all know him.
Come on, man.
Only the fourth black WWE Champion in history.
Yeah, yeah.
And we only had one until a few years ago.
So we're making some progress.
So was it Booker T?
The Rock.
Actually, Booker T was World Heavyweight champion a different title but you know similar prestige but
the rock was the first yeah i wasn't i didn't know the rottenness i didn't know if the rock
got labeled as black you know what i mean that's the thing i'm not going to be the one to legislate
his blackness so uh yeah yeah i'll put it the rock is black though i i don't know but i ain't
like that yeah i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know, but I ain't like that. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know.
His dad is black,
so that don't work for me.
Oh, his dad is black.
Yeah.
He presents as a black man to me.
So The Rock is black.
But we're not here
to talk about The Rock.
Big E.
That's right.
Yes, sir.
Now what makes a brother,
first of all,
where are you from?
I'm from Tampa,
Tampa, Florida.
Okay.
Yeah, my parents are
from the Caribbean though,
Jamaican and Montserratian.
That's right,
because you know my mom's
from Montserrat too.
Yeah. Oh, really? Yes, indeed. That's why I was excited before you came here. I was like, you know heican and Montserratian. That's right, because you know my mom's from Montserrat, too. Yeah.
Oh, really?
Yes, indeed.
That's why I was excited before you came here.
I was like, you know he's part Montserratian.
She definitely said that this morning.
You know he's Montserratian.
There's not a lot of us.
I was going to say, it's a tiny island, so it's a very small amount, but that's dope.
Have you ever been there?
I've never been.
I need to rectify that.
My aunt currently lives there, and she keeps telling me I need to buy a house there.
Look, I'm going to set you up at the tourism department in Montserrat.
Please do.
So that you have a great experience. I need to go. Look, I'm going to set you up at the tourism department in Montserrat. Please do. So that you have a great experience.
I need to go.
Because they'll take you to the exclusion zone.
That's where the volcano erupts in the lava flow.
So you can't go there unless they bring you.
And then you have to leave your car on
with the car running,
facing away from the volcano
in case something happens.
Wow.
You have like a few minutes to go.
So you want this man to end his life.
You want to go.
You really trying to take out the full flag?
I took my mom and everything but yes you have
to go it's an amazing experience how did you get into wrestling brother uh so i played football in
iowa but i had a bunch of injuries tore both my acls broke my right patella tore my left pec in
two and a half years and i said maybe this football thing isn't for me um but i just ended up uh i was
in in grad school at the time and i just had someone come up to me and said,
hey, is this something you might want to try? I just happened
to know a guy who knew a guy who knew someone with WWE.
So it was really, you started
real wrestling. It wasn't like backyard wrestling first.
No, no, no. I just, I got signed by WWE
with zero experience whatsoever. I got lucky,
took a job on a whim, and 12 years later
still doing it. Was it because of your chest?
Yes, yeah, yeah.
The chest gets you in a bunch of doors. So, you know, I used to be kind of ashamed of it because people would always make comments about it
But I'm embracing my large pick
I'm saying this respectfully.
You got it very pronounced.
It is pronounced.
It's the kind of chest people do push-ups for.
Bro, your chest looks good.
You can say that.
It does.
That's why you do push-ups.
That's why you do bench press.
I want that.
I developed that at a young age, honestly.
I started working out even before I was 12.
But I started working out for real when I was 12.
And the chest popped right away.
Wow.
But yeah, I did some powerlifting too.
Won a national championship. No big deal. Yeah, you're jumping around a But yeah, I did some powerlifting too. You know, won a national
championship. You know, no big deal. Yeah, you're jumping around
a little bit. I need to know the steps.
You know what I mean? You didn't just go from Tampa to Swole
to WWE. This is true. Because we see all these people
saying, oh, it's been my dream to be
in the WWE. I'm about to do it. But it's not
that easy at all. Yeah,
you know, everyone has a different path. We have a lot of
guys who wrestled for 10 years before they had
opportunities with WWE. My path is different i was an athlete i was a state champion
wrestler in high school like i said did some power lifting played football at iowa so i kind of
bounced around doing some different things athletically and just ended up stumbling into
this job but i love it you know we get to travel the world uh you know making kids day it's the
best did you know the moves at all or did you have to learn all that from the door?
I had to learn it all from the door.
So I was a huge fan as a kid.
I love Goldberg.
I actually got to meet Goldberg in the late 90s,
so it's kind of crazy that I'm wrestling now in the same company with Goldberg.
But, yeah, so it definitely, I had a lot to learn.
It's very different from football and from a lot of the other stuff I did.
Were you a WWF, WCW guy?
I grew up in Florida, so I was a big WCW guy.
It was a southern promotion, so I
love that feel of WCW.
And I would watch, I would go back and
forth, because back then, obviously you watched Nitro,
you had to flip back and forth watching Raw.
But yeah, I was more of a WCW
guy. And that was the Four Horsemen,
Lex Luger. I mean, in a
way, you kind of remind me of Lex Luger.
I'll take that. I'll take that.
I'll take that.
Yeah, Luger was massive, too. Yeah, absolutely.
Jacked as hell, but yeah.
And for you guys in particular, I would say you could really see how representation matters
when it comes to the New Day and the impact that that had on kids.
Because, look, it's not like I watch a whole lot of wrestling, but I actually went to SummerSlam
at the Barclays.
Yes.
And your boyfriend loves wrestling.
And I actually have a Booty O's t-shirt.
Respect.
I appreciate that.
I should have wore it today, but that's so random.
But honestly, just even like the way that you guys present yourselves,
I think is incredible for kids who are so into wrestling.
I can just imagine how that has impacted kids.
Yeah, no, it's been important for us because the three of us,
you know, we're nerds, we're comic book nerds.
So we wanted really just to be ourselves.
I think too often in our industry, you would see talent of color put in certain boxes like you have to be a rapper or a dancer.
So we just wanted to be ourselves.
And we came out wearing bright colors, these phallic unicorn horns on our head, just doing silly stuff.
And the response at first was rocky.
But for us getting off the ground and being able to
show people you can be yourselves, you can be
unique, and you can still be proudly black.
What did your parents say when you wanted to be a wrestler?
When you said, Ma, I want to be a wrestler.
What did she say? So my dad,
funnily enough, he's a huge wrestling fan.
He would watch, like, if Raw was on,
he'd watch Raw, the Raw replay,
and he's a massive wrestling fan.
But he was just always worried that I'd get hurt, so that was his big thing. But, like a 30 he's a massive wrestling fan but uh he was
just always worried that i'd get hurt so that was that was his big thing but you know he's been to
shows too so that's the worst injury you had wrestling um i had a tore my meniscus a couple
years ago but that's that's not bad it's a six-week recovery do you remember when the new day
popped i do it was probably it it was right after WrestleMania in 2015.
And for us, we were, so we were good guys. We were baby faces for a while, but the crowd hated it.
They turned on us. And it wasn't until we got to be heels and to let loose.
And once, once the company kind of like took their hands off and let the rain and let us be free to be ourselves.
That's when we were able to really take off.
That seems like more fun anyway.
Yeah, way more fun.
I love being a heel.
I love being able to, like, break kids.
And, like, it's the best.
But it's all part of the show, so it's fun.
Yeah, I always wonder who writes the storylines,
who creates these characters.
Well, it's a give and take.
There's definitely, you know, Vince is still, he's still,
we call it gorilla.
So it's the area right before you go out of the curtain.
He's still very heavily involved.
He's still the one who pulls all the strings.
But kind of for the reason that we were able to take off
is because we got some more freedom with our promos.
A lot of people are, you know, you're kind of handed a script
and you have to say it.
But thankfully, we have the freedom to kind of play around with what we say.
How did they decide who's going to be the next big thing in wrestling?
Is it the fans?
That's a great question.
Is it Vince?
Is it, you know, what's going on in the world? Because, you know Is it the fans? That's a great question. Is it Vince? Is it, you know,
what's going on in the world?
Because, you know,
in the last couple of years,
you see more and more black people raising to the top.
Are you the Black Lives Matter champion?
Hey, you never know
if sometimes you're given that opportunity
because of that reason.
It's a combination.
Definitely the fans have a say
because my tag partner, Kofi,
took off a couple years ago
because of the fan response
like he was he was just a substitute in a match and people really got behind him and they wouldn't
shut up about it every single week so that was able to we got to a certain point where it was
undeniable for the office and they said they had to change their plans because he wasn't supposed
to be the guy so then i think that's the beautiful part of our business is our fans really can steer
the show like if they're really behind someone, they can, like, this is clearly our guy.
All right, we got more with Big E.
When we come back, don't move.
It's The Breakfast Club.
Come on.
I must have just cut you a check for a minute.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
We are The Breakfast Club.
We're still kicking it with Big E.
I noticed back then when I used to watch when it was the whole cold game, the macho man.
Wrestlers would get hurt. Like, you would see blood, the Macho Man, wrestlers would get hurt.
Like you would see blood coming from the head like it would get hurt. You don't see that as much now.
So how are they protecting the wrestlers now? Well, we have what we call like a wellness policy.
So there was this drug testing now as far as helping to protect us that there wasn't necessarily several years ago.
But I mean, it's still you're still falling down. You're still getting hit with chairs.
You can't you can't fake that. So there's definitely still a very very real like level anybody hit you in the wrong way and you was like i gotta
see him after this show uh i settle everything in the ring so we call them we call them receipts or
someone potatoes you or gives it to you a little bit different they should a potato is just
something where like all right this kind of went outside the bonds of what we talked about you went
a little too far you're a little too physical then you just give it back to them you gotta you
gotta know how to kind of stand your ground in there.
Did you encounter a lot of racism?
In WWE?
No, no, honestly, I haven't.
I will say, you know, I feel like we've,
as far as our representation on TV,
I feel like we've gotten,
like we're getting to where we need to be.
It's still always a work in progress.
But, you know, I think oftentimes if there are issues,
it would present themselves as people see you a certain way.
And they want you to, as a character, oh, you're a big black man,
so this is the role you need to play.
And our goal with The New Day was to start tearing down those boxes
so people don't see performers when they see a black woman,
they think she needs to be sister-necking and doing certain things.
And I look at someone like Bianca.
I don't know if you guys are familiar with Bianca Belair.
But she's so dope to me because not only is she an incredible athlete,
but she's so authentic.
What you see on screen is who she is off screen.
And I think that's like we're just,
I think we're getting more of those kinds of black characters on TV
that are authentic, that feel like one of ones.
I also think that wrestlers don't get enough credit
for the great acting jobs.
Y'all are performers.
We are.
We can't act like...
I mean, it shouldn't be no surprise
that anyone at The Rock is killing in Hollywood.
Exactly, exactly.
And I think...
And granted, I'm not going to say
you're always going to watch Emmy-caliber performances
from an acting perspective,
but I think what we do does train you in entertainment.
And not just...
The cool thing is not just The Rock,
but you look at John Cena having success.
Dude, Dave Bautista is a hell of an actor.
Bautista?
Yeah, people forget about Bautista.
Yeah, so they've kind of helped pave the way to show,
like, yeah, we're wrestlers,
but we also know how to do these different facets of entertainment as well.
Not to get into your pockets, but how much do wrestlers make?
Sounds like you're in them.
The Google's way off.
It's way off.
But how much do wrestlers usually make when they get...
Some people are like, I never wanted to be a wrestler
because I didn't think I could get money.
You have to get to a certain level, too.
When WWE first signed you, what was your first
check at WWE?
When I was with WWE, I got
signed in 2009. I was under a WWE contract, but I wasn't on TV. So I got signed, when I was with WWE, I got signed in 2009.
So I was under a WWE contract, but I wasn't
on TV. So I was essentially
assigned to the
developmental system. That time,
I'm making $500 a week.
So we're talking about like $26,000 a year
a pin, not making much money.
You used to live with moms at that point.
Actually, I was at one point. I actually moved because it was in Tampa.
So I moved with my folks.
Your chest is way too big
to live with your mom.
At any point in life.
I'm just eating it that damn quick.
Too much, so they got me out of there.
But the money definitely
went up for me when I got
to the main roster. And, you know,
we have certain people who might be making
$300,000. We also have
certain people who are making millions of
dollars uh i've been fortunate enough to to be i'm taking care of is it tough as a black champion
because you know there's things that have happened like you know vince mcmahon is used to end work
right yeah or like i think they said uh wwe is one of trump's was one of Trump's biggest donors. Do you get flack for that? I don't get flack for it.
I guess I see myself as,
I don't want to say like I'm light in an area of darkness,
but I think sometimes you have to work from within.
We all work for these massive systems
and there's certain beliefs and views
that I don't necessarily agree with or feel,
but I feel like my presence in WWE, I still feel like I can reach people,
that I can motivate people, that I can still show like, hey,
this is how I feel, this is how I see the world.
And so, yeah, I still feel like within the system,
there's a lot of people that it's a massive platform and I don't want to lose that.
Have any of those conversations ever happened behind the scenes?
You might have personal questions like, so what's up with this?
So I haven't necessarily asked Vince about his political views
or donations and whatnot, but I know there are things that I wanted to do,
and again, smaller gestures, but things that matter to me.
So after George Floyd, Kofi and I decided we needed to show people,
like, hey, we're with you.
We're feeling the same pain you are.
We're crying the same tears. So I just went up to Vince and said, hey we we're with you we're feeling the same pain you are we're crying the same tears so i just went up to vince and said hey we want to kneel and throw a fist up and
is that cool just want to run it by you and he said yeah there was no problem whatsoever and
that's what we did and again i'm not saying we changed the world by any means but uh a lot of
things that you know that i felt were important to me this past year especially there's just
something and i feel like so many of us the
that george floyd's death was something that touched me in a way that no one and i think it
had a lot to do with the fact that i wasn't jumping on a plane i didn't have all these distractions
during the pandemic i had to sit with this we all had to sit with this so especially man when you
see these black kids at shows and we all we obviously we're here to entertain kids from all
backgrounds and ethnicities but there's just something too because i you know you can look out and see a young black girl or boy and they remind
you of yourself or they remind you of like my sisters when i was young and that means a lot to
me to let them know just because we are on tv just because we have money or fame or whatever it is
that doesn't make us above feeling the way that you feel like i'm hurting like you hurt i'm talking
to my my black friends who are we're talking about being stopped by police when we were younger we're talking about these same things
having these same conversations shedding these same tears and that's been important for us you
know it was trash and i and i hated when they first opened back up the pandemic and they made
y'all wrestle with no fans in there how was that because you could hear you grunting oh it just
didn't sound right so how was that for you? It's different, but it's different.
But we were trying to do the best we could.
Sports for me this last year was weird all around.
I feel like for everything I watched,
I couldn't get into college football the same.
I couldn't get into boxing the same.
But now with fans coming back, so I feel like everything.
And I think to our industry,
maybe more than almost anyone, I think, relies on fans.
That fan reaction is such a massive part.
Because like you said, we call it the Thunderdome,
and we had fans there virtually, but it wasn't the same.
We're just doing the best we could.
It does make you appreciate those athletes more, though,
because you realize that they genuinely have a love for what they do.
Because they'll go out there and just do it.
They just want to be on the court.
They just want to be on the field.
They just want to be in the ring. Exactly. Because if you're there just for the notoriety and the fame and going out there and just do it. They just want to be on the court. They just want to be on the field. They just want to be in the ring.
Exactly.
Because if you're there just for the notoriety and the fame
and going out there for those empty arena matches,
boy, it's going to wear on you.
That's got to be hard.
What's the craziest fan moment you've ever had?
What?
What's that?
What's the craziest fan moment you've ever had?
Nothing too crazy.
Let me pass this title.
I've had people ask to sign body parts.
That's regular, right?
Right.
But some more intimate body parts as well.
But everyone's usually pretty respectful.
Everyone's usually pretty cool.
You don't look tough.
It looks like you're about to topple over.
It's the hardest way to hold the belt.
I love when people hold the belt like this.
Over the shoulder. That's the way to go. I love it. And the Surviv like this. Over the shoulder.
That's the way to go.
That's the way to go.
I love it.
Hold on.
Survivor Series coming to Brooklyn next month.
Yeah.
Yes.
That's right.
Survivor Series is massive.
November 21st, we'll be at the Barclays Center.
Raw versus SmackDown.
But we'll be here.
We'll be in town.
It should be a hell of a show.
Well, Biggie, we appreciate you for joining us this morning.
Biggie.
I appreciate it.
Thanks for having me.
All right.
It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning, Biggie, we appreciate you for joining us this morning. Biggie! I appreciate it. Thanks for having me. All right. It's The Breakfast Club.
Good morning, Biggie.
The Breakfast Club.
This is us.
It's just in.
Only gossip.
Gossip.
The Rumor Report.
Gossip.
Gossip.
With Angela Yee.
It's The Rumor Report.
The Breakfast Club.
All right.
Now, I just want to tell you guys, Charlamagne, you ever went somewhere and forgot to pack underwear?
I forgot to pack underwear.
No, never.
Literally never.
I did.
I go buy fresh drawers sometimes when I travel,
especially when I travel out the country.
I don't know.
That's just a ritual of mine.
I go to Target and buy me some fresh drawers
and some fresh wife beaters and some fresh drawers and some fresh wife beaters and
some fresh socks okay hell you mean travel with no underwear underwear i don't know how i forgot
to travel without underwear all right you're traveling with no underwear it's not like you're
trying to stay prepared you stay ready you don't gotta get ready honey so shut up man let's get to
some new music now uh walking around with no drawers the heart of they fall soundtrack features
uh lauren hill kate cuddy jada kiss just to name a few, and that boy Hov.
And let's play a snippet of some of the records on there.
This one is a snippet of, let me see the name of it.
It is Guns Go Bang. Okay.
That's a snippet of that.
Now, also, he has another joint on there, Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Conway, and Backroad G.
It's called King Kong Rhythm, and the boy goes off on this one. PTSD from the concrete. Jungle, I move up under. A hundo at my peak.
My cocaine wreckage.
Stand up next to me.
Tiger cubs in the clubs.
Helicopters above.
Yeah, them flex weak.
I speak Patois.
All right.
That's whole.
Peter going to hate that verse.
Peter going to hate that verse.
Way too many animal references.
Yeah, it was a lot.
It was a lot.
It's a lot.
He named a lot of animal references.
Salute to Conway and Jadakiss too. Jadakiss is going to be on my late night talk show tonight. The God it was a lot. It was a lot. It's a lot. He named a lot of animal references. Salute to Conway and Jadakiss, too.
Jadakiss is going to be on my late night talk show tonight, The God's Honest Truth.
The whole locks are 10 p.m. tonight on Comedy Central.
Okay.
Now, also, Big Sean and Hit Boy, they released the EP What You Expect.
Can we play a snippet off that?
I can't afford to waste that shit again.
No, if I can't cut you out, I cut you off.
Being honest to you only left me scarred. Can we get a little Ed Sheeran on?
Why are you not going to play that?
Drop one of Clues Bumps for my guy Ed Sheeran.
That's my guy Pharrell Pharrell.
But damn, you just jumped.
You just said, you just forget Meg Thee Stallion.
Now you just gonna jump over Meg Thee Stallion?
No, it's called Megan's Piano.
But we just don't have time.
We got A$AP Rocky released a mixtape.
He added a new song to that.
Young Miami, of course, released Rap Freak.
We played that earlier.
Lil Uzi Vert released Demon High.
French Montana released a song and video for I Don't Really Care.
He announces his Amnesia album.
And Bobby Shmurda released a single, Cardia Lenses.
We got a snippet of that.
Okay.
All right.
I can't keep up, man
There's too much going on
So much new music
And again, Megan Thee Stallion released something for the hottie
So that's all
A lot of new music, man
We didn't have time to get through a lot of them
Like I said, Angelique is out
So we're just doing our best with these rumors and stuff
But I think it's only right to play the joint King Kong rhythm
Which is Hov, Kiss, Conway, Back Row G.
I think we could play that in full. I feel New York
bias. And I'm not mad
at your pick, but I feel this is New York bias.
I feel like you're only playing this record
because it's three artists from New York.
Two legends and one legend in the making.
That's what I feel. Am I right about this assessment?
So?
Okay. Let's make it short.
As long as the bias is confirmed
that's all
it's fine
I'm not mad at it
I mean it's only right
I do the same
lyrical monsters
I do the same
well shout to
this is what we have
a show for
we'll see you tomorrow
this is our show
we can do these
kind of things
I'm not mad at you
let's get on
King Kong Rhythm
Jay Z
Jay to Kiss Conway
Back Row G
and Up Next is the mix
my mother just texted me.
She was like, you know why you forgot your underwear?
Because usually your daughter packs for you.
And now that she's in school, there's nobody packing for you.
You're absolutely right, Mommy.
That is the reason.
Damn it, man.
Well, guess what?
You're going to be assed out today, literally.
All right?
All right.
It's the breakfast.
Hey, also, too, make sure.
Hey, hold on.
Hold on.
Tonight, 10 p.m., Comedy Central, The God's Honest Truth.
The locks will be on and senior advisor to the president,
Cedric Richmond, will be on.
10 p.m. tonight, Comedy Central.
Join us.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
We are The Breakfast Club.
Now, shout to everybody in Detroit.
Tomorrow is my car show out here.
I started these car shows just because I really enjoy cars and love cars
and started bringing it to the markets.
And so many people said it's a great family day.
You could bring the kids, the wife, the grandparents.
Everybody can come and really have a good time at the car show.
So we started bringing it to other places.
We brought it to Atlanta, and it did very, very successful. So now we're in Detroit. So come on out. We have monster
trucks. We have one of the very few black old NAS cars will be in the building. They'll show the
kids how to change the tires, which is pretty dope. We have double Dutch aerobics, which they'll
teach kids and people, parents as well, how to double dutch, how to jump rope the right way.
And it's just so much things going on.
There's amusement rides and celebrity cars.
There's so many different surprises.
Shout to Louis V.
He's going to be DJing the whole event.
So if you haven't got your tickets, come on out.
It's going to be a great night.
Don't worry about the rain.
It's indoors.
Don't worry about candy for the kids.
The kids can wear costumes.
We'll have tons of candy for the kids.
So it's just a family fun day.
My kids get out here in a little bit after school today.
And we're just going to really enjoy Halloween in Detroit.
So what up, though, Detroit? And I can't wait to see you guys get your tickets if you haven't got it already.
And listen, man, I got to salute the homie Latham Thomas.
You know, Latham is an amazing doula who has helped, you know, me and my wife through my wife's last two pregnancies.
Tomorrow, they are doing the Doula Expo by by Mama Glow.

14 Park Street, Brooklyn, New York.
The Doula Expo tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Salute to Latham Thomas.
Yeah. And speaking of doulas, I went to the doctor yesterday with my wife and he said the baby is in position.
So the baby, the head is down and ready to rock and roll so it can happen anytime in the next four weeks.
So baby's ready to rock and roll, brother.
Why you don't get why you didn't you didn't have five.
I would say why you never had a doula.
We never had any problems, anything.
Nothing at all.
We have the same pediatrician, the same doctor.
We do it at the same place.
They kind of know me already.
My wife pushes but twice, and baby's out.
So we haven't needed one, thank God.
Yeah, they just be like, oh, it's them again.
It's them again.
Oh, it's the Casey's again.
It's the Casey's again.
All right.
Well, positive note When we come back
It's the Breakfast Club
Good morning
Morning everybody
It's DJ Envy
Angela Yee
Charlamagne Tha Guy
We are the Breakfast Club
Now let me shout out
To our friends
At the Balloon Saloon
Doc's Cake Shop in Harlem
And shout out to DJ Will
And his company
Will and Daughters Catering
That supplies the food.
Every time we have artists come up, they supply the food,
they cake the balloons, and we just want to say thank you to those guys.
A hundred percent, man.
I mean, you know, it's big for us to celebrate all of these people,
so I appreciate it.
All right, well, leave us on a positive note.
Well, first, I want to tell everybody, man,
make sure you tune in tonight to my late-night talk show,
The God's Honest Truth.
It comes on 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.
If you're not able to catch it in real time, make sure you DVR it or scream it on Paramount+.
But tonight, on tonight's show, we have the senior advisor, the President Joe Biden, Cedric Richmond.
And we got the L.O.X., Styles P., Jadakiss, Sheik Looch.
They'll all be on tonight on The God's Honest Truth at 10 p.m.
You know, it's our cowardly donkeys episode.
And, you know, we're talking about a lot of different things, man.
You know, I feel like black people are in a bad deal with the Democrats and nobody knows how to get out of a bad deal like the locks.
So we shall discuss tonight, 10 p.m., on Comedy Central,
The God's Honest Truth, okay?
Now, the positive note is simply this.
It comes from my man Don Miguel Ruiz.
It's one of my favorite quotes.
Be impeccable with your word.
I don't know why I feel the need to say that this weekend.
Be impeccable with your word.
Speak with integrity.
Say only what you mean.
Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.
Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love. See you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or the gossip about others.
Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
See you Monday.
Breakfast club, bitches!
We all finished or y'all done?
Hey guys, I'm Kate Max.
You might know me
from my popular online series,
The Running Interview Show,
where I run with celebrities,
athletes, entrepreneurs, and more.
After those runs, the conversations keep going.
That's what my podcast Post Run High is all about.
It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories,
their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together.

Had enough of this country?
Ever dreamt about starting your own?
I planted the flag.
This is mine.
I own this.
It's surprisingly easy.
55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete.
Or maybe not.
No country willingly gives up their territory.
Oh, my God.
What is that?
Bullets.
