This is an iHeart Podcast.
I'm Bob Crawford, host of American History Hotline, a different type of podcast. You,
the listener, ask the questions. Did George Washington really cut down a cherry tree?
Were JFK and Marilyn Monroe having an affair? And I find the answers. I'm so glad you asked
me this question. This is such a ridiculous story. You can listen to American History Hotline

So what happened at Chappaquiddick?
Well, it really depends on who you talk to.

And left a woman behind to drown.
Chappaquiddick is a story of a tragic death

Stacy, tell them to stop playing with you, Stacy.
Right, right, right. Wait, Charlemagne, tell them to stop playing with you, Stacy. Right, right, right.
Wait, Charlamagne, I just want to give you
your flowers real quick.
Yo, it's so funny, right?
Because like I keep saying, I'm a regular person.
Everybody who I told I was going on the breakfast club,
they always ask for a negative to say about me.
And I'm like, yo, Charlamagne was the reason
why I was up there.
So Charlamagne, thank you so much.
You don't know what you did for a regular person like me,
and you don't know what you did for my cupcake business.
So thank you so much Charlamagne.
Okay, Jeff Hilarious, where you at?
I'm right here.
No wait, don't call me honey, that's a little gay.
But okay.
Oh, wait, Jeff Hilarious, how was the edible?
Oh, it was good, I'm still high.
Man, this man gave me a cookie. I think it was what? 200 milligrams?
God damn.
Oh, no. No.
Just small crack.
Oh, it was 40. Okay. 40 milligrams.
Just small crack. Just small crack.
No, it was 40 milligrams.
It was no, no, no. It was 40 milligrams all together,
but it felt like it was both.
No, I'm sorry. grams and my weed butter 40 grams
Yes, how ever you measure it I was high as a kite
Okay, good. It's just thank you. Okay DJ empty. I need the information for the car
Okay, you said I can do live said you good. Don't worry, man
We got some time you coming to Virginia or the one in Jersey, which one or both?
I'm coming to Jersey, but you know what?
He gonna have you in the BBC section
Section relax my goodness.
Oh, okay, got it.
Now wait a minute, where is Lauren?
I know I can't stay too long.
Is Lauren there?
Yeah, she in the back.
Come on, Lauren.
What you doing in the back?
I got questions for you too.
But okay, I love y'all so much.
And yo, yo, do y'all know that I met Ice Cube
and Dwight Howard and they got some of my stuff too?
Yes, they sure did.
They sure did.
So Jess and Larry, we may be in a movie together,
or if I'm real.
Period.
Goodbye, Stacey.
I love y'all so much.
Love you too, Stacey.
I love you too.
No, thank y'all so much.
Y'all are my favorite.
I love y'all.
Absolutely.
We love you too.
I'm gonna say this call you, Stacey.
And then, listen, that bad boy booty rocker's cookie, it was so good. The what? Bad boy booty rockers cookie it was so good.
The what? Bad boy booty rocker cookie. That's what it's called with all the weed in it? Yes it's a sugar cookie it got
fruity pebbles in it it's really really good and you don't even know that you
because you don't really taste the THC oil you don't taste the weed oil so you
eat the whole thing and then that crap will sneak up on you you'll be feeling
crazy. That's funny when somebody take 40 milligrams and say, snuck up on me.
No.
You're kidding me.
What you mean?
I know.
You said 40 milligrams and shit.
I underestimated it because it don't taste like edibles.
Now I did hear a rumor and I don't know if this is true.
I was gonna look into it yesterday.
That they're gonna be drug testing people that go to Disney now.
I don't know if that's true.
Oh my God.
No.
Because you haven't had fun unless you have Edible and they go on the rides.
Oh my god, it's the best feeling ever.
But why are they drug testing people? Is that illegal?
A lot of people do that.
Yes, because as a parent we got to do that to relieve our stress.
It's the happiest place on earth for kids. It's the most stressful place for us as adults.
That's why they serve drinks there. What are you talking about?
Go to Edible and you go on the little teacup rides and they have the little happy one.
Oh, you be happy. it's the best ever.
Oh, I bet.
It's the best ever.
Get it off your chest.
800-585-1051.
If you need to vent, hit us up now.
It's the Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
The Breakfast Club.
It's a new day.
This is your time to get it off your chest.
Wake up.
Whether you're mad or blessed.
It's time to get up and get something.
Call up now.
800-585-1051.
We want to hear from you. This is your time to get it off your chest. Wake up! Whether you're mad or blessed. It's time to get up and get something.
Call up now.
800-585-1051.
We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club.
All right, I want to get it off my chest first
before we go to the phone calls.
This is what happened yesterday,
and I don't know if you guys are aware of this in New Jersey
and maybe some other states.
Yesterday, I let a car of mine to somebody so he can drive.
He didn't know his license
was suspended. He had parking tickets. He paid the parking tickets, but it didn't go
through the DMV. He got pulled over and got a ticket. Did you know in the state of New
Jersey, if you lend somebody your car and they have a suspended license that you get
a ticket to? Hell no. Yes. I got a ticket yesterday because he had a suspended license.
And it's not a ticket that you can pay.
I have to go to court.
Oh, wow.
And if I don't go to court, I lose my license and I can get jail time with 30 days because
his license was suspended and he was driving my car.
I don't see nothing wrong with that.
What do you mean?
No.
Do you know how sick of court envy is?
No.
No.
No, but I don't see nothing wrong with that because lending lending somebody your car it may not seem like a big deal
But it is and so if you loan somebody your car, you should really make sure that they are
Legally able to drive that car, but he didn't know his license
No, he had a parking ticket. It's like he didn't pay the part
He actually paid the parking ticket, but it takes two days to register the DMV
It didn't register as yet and they're also how close are you with him?
Like you got to be
close if you just lend him cars. Like you don't do that. Okay,
yeah, so he didn't know.
He didn't know he drove your car. That's like if you lend a
car to a family member and then your license is suspended. They
get pulled over no accident or nothing.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
And then you get a ticket. You got to go to court. You got to
hire an attorney. It's crazy.
Well, it does make you think it does make you think about who
you let loan your car. Because you might let that person loan
your car. They might go rob a bank.
I'm serious.
Like they might go commit a crime.
So you really should think about that before you just say,
Hey, you're driving my car.
Yeah, but it's a family member.
Just like if Jess says, yo E, let me borrow your car.
I got to drive up to the West side.
I'll be right back.
I'm like, yeah, go ahead.
This is my child.
I can understand that.
I'm responsible for that.
Jess ain't my child.
Jess is my friend.
No, no, but you said a family member.
This is my child.
I can understand being responsible for that.
That is wild.
The fact that I got a ticket.
It's just the fact of the whole situation,
like you have to go to court, you can't even just pay it.
No, you can't pay it, you have to go to court
because his license was suspended.
What family member is it, Eo?
I just said his family member, I said close friend.
It's a close friend.
Oh, you said family member.
No, no, not close friend.
No, I said that, damn.
Close friend.
See now, I gotta stop letting Rome hold my cards.
Sometimes I let Rome hold my cards.
No, it's the truth. If his license is suspended, you get a gotta stop letting Rome hold my car. Yes
If it's license is suspended you get a ticket as well. That's crazy. I've never heard anything like that
But that's what happened to me yesterday. Hello. Who's this? Hey, good morning. Good morning. How y'all doing? Coach Davis? How's everything?
Hey listen, I know got some bad news last night a member of my basketball community
So come to a heart attack man, and you know, he was just just retired man
Well, we can do his retirement and it brought me back to
Something that you talked about Charlamagne
a heart, a heart when you do a full body scan. I forgot to mention the company.
So my man Dr. Pum has Soren Medical, man.
I'm telling you, go get that Soren Hearts game, man.
Let him go, he can look at your whole heart,
look at your arteries, he does like a,
he'll show you a 3D rendering.
He can see all the blockages, everything, brother.
And there's no age to go.
They're like, don't wait till your 60s.
I went, my wife went, I know Charlamagne went,
his wife went, please go.
But you know, it's also not just about the blockages, man.
The high blood pressure, the high cholesterol, stress,
all that stuff can cause you to have heart attacks, bro. Call your You know, you know, it's this Martin in here, you know, we just seen him, you know
He was playing in a playoff fair, you know, it's just crazy
You know, uh, he was he was in this early 50
I'm sorry
But I appreciate you all charming man. All right
And you too, Jess. I love you, baby. I love you too. Thank you, babe
Get it. Hold on every did you get a ticket or did you get cited? No, I got a ticket
Oh, i've heard of people getting cited for like no no no
My license driver's driving like a ticket with my name on it because my name is on registration and insurance
And I have a court date where I have to go to court and then when you google what the fine is it says
You can lose your license or spend 30 days in prison damn for lending somebody your car that's crazy get it off your chest
800-585-1051 hit us up right now. It's the breakfast club. Good morning the breakfast club
Morning everybody is DJ envy just hilarious Charlamagne the guy we are the Breakfast Club. We got a special guest in the building. We got
The pretty victory 100 day guide to recent to yourself and find your purpose is out right now. How you feeling?
I feel so good. I feel blessed black and just you know obsessed with this book now
You know, I'm just excited for this journey.
It came from a text message via social media posting
and now just having my own book.
It's an amazing feeling for sure.
It makes sense for you to have a devotional
or a book full of affirmations
because all you do is send us devotional
and affirmations every day.
I know.
Yes, so it makes sense.
So it's completely on brand for you.
On brand.
Yeah, and you know what I love about it because we just wanna jump straight into it's completely on brand for you. On brand. Yeah.
And you know what I love about it, because we just want to jump straight into it, because
my sis got other press.
So, you know, what I love about it is you had said how to use this book.
You said it took you 100 days to start thinking new and doing new things.
What are some of the things that you felt like you had to work on in those 100 days?
What were the hardest things that you had to overcome?
Well, just not entertaining social media. That was one of it.
It was like a fast.
Yeah, I was literally in my closet writing this. I was giving snippets on social media.
I watched TD Jakes. So when I seen TD Jakes' sermon, he's like, stand on what you know.
And for me, I'm a mind person. You know me, I be all in my head over thinking things.
But it was more of like, okay, let's separate from what I know that I'm familiar with doing
the skits on the table, entertaining, checking the social media, checking the DMS engagements
to like, girl, you just have this book deal and you need to get to it.
Like, so I was really in my closet. I had to separate, just sacrifice the social media,
take that away for a little bit and get locked into my closet and just start writing.
And I would just throw in little snippets on social media to see how people's gonna react,
and it just became a book.
And I just had to literally write, write, write each day.
Shout out to Nikki, shout out to Frankie,
just for helping me,
because I still wanted to add the comedic side,
and wanted to Charlemagne yourself,
asking y'all for your quotes,
what makes you guys victorious?
Trying to put it all together,
and not just be your typical devotional,
because everyone is not religious, and everyone doesn't understand, you know, spirituality.
Yeah.
So I believe in Jesus Christ.
So, you know, I didn't want to dump that down either.
I needed to throw him in there.
But it's for everyone.
It's a unisex book.
It's for the women as well.
And I just wanted to really like tap into the other side outside of being funny for
sure.
So much.
Why this for your first book though, because Devonna is a person that wears many hats.
You are not just funny.
You do so many other things.
Why not a memoir for the first book?
Yeah, a memoir, like you said.
Why Devonna for your book?
Yeah, and I just, no, no, not even, all right,
well not even a memoir, but like who you are,
like your layers of who you are.
Because a lot of people don't know you are Devonna XL.
Who you say, who you are in the book.
I ain't trying to spoil it.
You do, but you do say in the book, I'm a save who I am for the next book.
Okay.
Why is that not the first one?
I just, for me, I just felt like I just have so much work to do.
Like that's not even there yet.
Like I just need to like do some, so much more.
I'm just not there yet.
And I feel like let's put something out
where the people could appreciate, you know,
and I was like this devotion.
Someone told me I had an interview.
They were like, okay, well, we just be like the funny be
like this is just book is so serious.
I was like, girl, you haven't even got the book,
but not even I am.
Like, you know, like I want to give you guys a part of me.
And if this is what I have to do, I'm gonna be still.
I remember when I had, we had COVID
and I reached out to Charlotte when I was like, oh, Charlotte I'm overthinking, we ain't gotta work.'m going to be still. I remember when I had, we had COVID and I reached out
to Sharla and I was like, oh, Sharla, I'm overthinking, we ain't got to work. Sharla
said to be still. I hated when Sharla told me that. I was like, be still. I hate the
word still because I get to think, I get to be in my head. But that's one of the things
that's to answer your question in the beginning. Like I had to be still and I hated it because
I was like, this has to be written and the only person that's going to write it is me
and whoever else we hire to help me put it all together.
So I mean, I just wanted to put a devotional out
because I'm like, it's just necessary.
Like you said, it's on brand.
And I just want people to hear my story.
Everything that I've been through,
delay has never denied you.
I talk about Hollywood in here, just don't change,
and just keep going and don't be afraid to walk alone.
The relationships I have, friendships,
and people I've dated, like how you just don't afraid to walk alone. The relationships I have friendships and people I've, you know, dated like how you just don't
have to walk alone in your pain.
You need God will send help.
He was an angels.
I talked about in the beginning when I was so hungry in college, I had no money.
I had no food in Miss.
A day.
I said, you know, uh, San Augusto University.
Hello, North Carolina.
Um, he helped me, gave me $50 and laid on his heart.
God said, you didn't eat and here's money.
I just talk about all the propheticness that's in here
that brought me to this day.
So I just hope, I know it's gonna help us all.
You feel me?
The mission is I don't look at the numbers.
I look at like, who am I touching in this season?
And if that's what it is, we gonna rock out.
I wanted to ask you, now your mother's a pastor, correct?
Yes, she is.
So she instills a lot of this into you.
So to talk about growing up with your mother being a pastor
and you still doing the funny skits and the outlandish skits and but you still are so close to your your faith. Yeah.
My mom like again her mission is to do what she has to do in ministry but this is the thing we're
doing ministry okay we're healing like laughter is healing you know outside of what we do is a
gift you know what Jess does on stage I can't do what she do.
That's up there 15 minutes, 20 minutes, four to five.
I'm gonna be like,
can we do some magic tricks on them?
But that's what you do.
I know.
I know.
I wanna do some magic tricks, y'all.
Y'all wanna see it?
Like that's me.
You know, like,
can we do some,
come on now, like, let me put the pink robe back on.
Like, that's just, like, I commend them
for being in their purpose and walking in their purpose
and being the legend that she is.
Me, on the other hand, I'm like,
I'ma jump on some tables, I'ma be a personality,
these characters that I have, and there's no judging.
Like, just walk in your gift,
and when God steers you some other way, go do that too.
But right now in this season, I'm just doing both.
I'm balancing it all.
I mean, people may take it serious, may not.
You know, and some people, you know,
may not take it serious, like, okay,
should we trust in this character
that has been doing this stuff for years?
Now she's writing a book, I don't believe it.
So that's why everybody face,
I'm posting every day about it.
I ain't on the table right now.
I'm gonna just let y'all see what's going on
because respect this avenue.
You know, we're doing a lot, but respect this calling until I decide to say, all right,
it's been five months now, let me get back to what I'm doing and still carry with it
because it's my brand.
You know, but my mom, she loves me.
She doesn't judge.
She's like, if this is what you're doing, just don't do nothing that's going to take
you away from God.
That's it.
That's all. She's not that type of mother for sure.
And you started out your first show last year when you did Charon.
Oh, Charon the Bike Y'all!
Charon the Bike Y'all!
That was very different.
You was in Atlanta at the, where was you at? What was the name of the video?
Center Stage.
Center Stage.
Yeah, we was there.
You sold that out?
Hurry.
She ain't never say Charon sell out.
Charon the Bike Y'all! And that's the thing, we putting her on the road too.
Like, you know, we added more characters.
I was actually scared about that.
She should put her on the road like it's not her.
Like, we gonna put her on the road.
That's how she gotta talk about it.
We gonna put Sharon on the road, you know, this year.
So I'm excited about that.
I was just trying to just make, get this book going,
but Sharon deserves a stage, like more people to see her.
New York for sure, this is the pit of Bargyal,
Jamaican people, so I wanna bring her out here.
But yeah, I wasn't afraid.
My mom came up, she seen me whining,
she seen me talk about people,
she seen me up there carrying on.
So yeah, we just wanna walk into that.
You know what's interesting about that,
you talked about Jess and her gift
of being able to do standup.
Like, you know, stage plays have been around forever.
You know what I mean?
There's people that have made multi-millions
of dollars off stage plays.
Of course we know the Tyler Perry,
David Talbert, I think, yes, David Talbert, I think. But that's a lane that a lot of people, especially your generation, aren't in. You could easily be producing stage plays.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And everyone tells me that. They're like, I just got a text. I think,
shout out to Tory Lanez. I know you, you feel me? Shout out, free.
Free, free, free. That was it?
Tory Layz, like he DM'd me the other day
and was just like, yo, you could be producing plays.
Like you're just so.
I'm gonna be like, how you know?
You're supposed to be, you know?
But.
You're like, yo, you feel me?
Yeah, Megan Thee Stallion just unfollowed you too, man.
Well, she wasn't following me in the jump.
From the jump.
Oh, okay.
She wasn't following me from the jump.
You can't try to throw stones, you can't throw stones.
Yeah, I'm saying.
Baldi.
Oh, yeah, Baldi. Ah. She wasn't following me from the jump. She wasn't trying to throw stones at me. Baldi! Oh!
She wasn't following me, but I love Meg.
And you know, I love Meg, but I'm just telling you
what he told me.
Shout out to him, like, hey, I think you should do that.
And of course, Charlotte told me too,
I brought the idea to him, like, yo, I wanna do this,
I wanna do these plays, you know,
I wanna get my characters involved.
But my thing is, is like, I sent him out the devotion,
I said, look, thank you so much for that advice, but don't we act on it we're gonna act on it but I
just I just want to make sure everything is right and someone told me just do it
I think I just be scared of people just like are y'all gonna show like y'all gonna come out and support me
yeah that's how I was at Sharon I was like y'all gonna buy a ticket like you know what it is and I
was so nervous that day but you know faith and faith can't coexist man I I know, I know, I know. So that's why I just, I went at it and just did it.
We're still kicking it with pretty V. Jess?
Now with all the long list of everything that you've been doing, you also received your
honorary doctorate degree for humanitarianism.
Yes!
I said that word right, humanitarianism last year.
That was on your ass for me too.
I know.
Jess said it should be a certificate.
I knew you was coming.
I knew it, I knew it. I knew you was coming. I knew it.
I knew it.
A certificate, Sissy.
Now, I know you are proud of that.
I'm extremely proud of you.
You went to college in real life anyway.
You got a real life degree.
But not taking anything away from your honorary doctorate degree.
But did that moment when people were coming for you or you know the backlash that you received from it, did that take away from like the enjoyment that take away from you
know the fact that it was a victory for you that was still a victory?
Yeah.
That you received?
Um, it did but it didn't.
Okay.
Right?
Because like I said, I wasn't the only one who received it.
My mother received it that day.
My brother received it that day.
And I feel like there was there's a process.
It wasn't like, yo, what up?
Can we honor you?
You're gonna get your doctors.
No, I had to like, for the whole moment out,
I had to get in this class and do these essays.
Put work, I had to just do the whole thing before I got it.
So it was that moment dragged out for the longest.
I was like, why are we still talking about the doctors?
I ain't never told y'all I was getting a white coat.
I never told y'all I was getting a white coat.
I didn't say, Charlotte, come to the graduation and just be here at five and
envy, bring your wife and kids. I didn't say that. I said,
I didn't say I was getting a white coat. I got something that's
American history is full of wise people.
Well, women said something like, you know, 99.99% of war is diarrhea and 1% is glory.
Those founding fathers were gossipy AF and they love to cut each other down.
I'm Bob Crawford, host of American History Hotline, the show where you send us your questions about American history. And I find the answers, including the nuggets of wisdom
our history has to offer.
Hamilton pauses and then he says, the greatest man that ever lived was Julius Caesar. And
Jefferson writes in his diary, this proves that Hamilton is for a dictator based on corruption.
My favorite line was what Neil Armstrong said, it would have been harder to fake it than to do it.
Listen to American history hotline on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
So what happened at Chappaquiddick?
Well, it really depends on who you talk to.
There are many versions of what happened in 1969
when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond.
And left a woman behind to drown.
There's a famous headline, I think,
in the New York Daily News.
It's, Teddy escapes, blonde drowns.
And in a strange way, right, that sort of tells you.
The story really became about Ted's political future,
Ted's political hopes.
Will Ted become president?
Chappaquiddick is a story of a tragic death
and how the Kennedy machine took control.
And he's not the only Kennedy to survive a scandal.

Community respect and honored. And I was feeling great about it. Like all these great people
got it. Usher, Missy, Michael Jackson, I guess because I'm not in that caliber. It doesn't
matter. And she's on the girl and she's doing the skits and like we're not taking
it serious like oh they're just giving out this title to everybody, whatever.
I was like whatever, I got it.
They seen me, they acknowledged me, they gave me my flowers, they shouldn't change the name,
it shouldn't be a certificate just but at the end of the day it is what it is, you know.
I got it and I stood on it and I know my friends were happy.
I know you guys like-
Absolutely, I definitely was happy for you.
Yeah, I know y'all was just like let's get it, let know my friends were happy. I know you guys
Let's get it. Let's go, you know, so it's just for the next person, you know Like they may call you and say just we want you to be an honorary Delta. I'm like I'm all for I love that for you
Yeah a doctor's
We like jazz do you not know I did a whole video for you when you got this position for records reference club
The whole video was represented around just hilarious because this is awesome where you're sitting. Thank you like this
It was no other person. I hit shaw I said, oh you as Jesse like she deserves that seat
So even when you went gone with missing for the baby, I'm like, okay
We're just that you know, but again things have to come in and fill in for you,
but this is your seat.
So as a person, as a pretty V, a B. Simone,
a Jessalys, a Drewski, a Marco,
these are accolades that we're like, what we're getting.
Like, and I'm just happy that I got it.
And I'm happy that it's all my house, ended up.
And I'm like, yeah, I'm excited.
It's amazing.
I got one from South Carolina State,
just getting one from Baltimore City Community College. First of all, oh my God got one from South Carolina State, Jess getting one from Baltimore City Community College.
First of all, oh my God, what?
No, I'm not getting anything
from Baltimore City Community College.
No, they didn't send nothing here.
They tweeted, they did.
They don't even have Twitter.
Top of the city.
It's a community college.
Don't do them like that.
They don't got no damn Twitter.
Tuesday said he wanted to give you honorary doctorate.
You didn't hear that?
He should have been.
Look, and if Jess get that from the Community College,
we lit, like.
You know what's great? You don't even have to look that up. He community college. We lit. You know what's great?
You don't have to look that up.
He had to look that up.
You know what I mean?
He's such a clown.
BCCC.
See?
I told you he looked that up.
Anyway, you talked about...
I'm happy about it.
You said earlier that you know you talk about people you've dated in the book and stuff
too.
Yeah.
I ain't say no names.
You know what I'm saying?
Ain't no names in the book? Ain't no names in the book. I actually called to make sure I could throw a little slip of the pen. Where's
the love life now since you don't always work on yourself and you had a hundred days to
change and to think newly. Yeah. Where's the dating status today? Single and not ready to
mingle. We is focused. We is getting to it. I mean, we are on a mission right now to just
focus on a pretty victory, focus
on all the great things, whatever I put down on picking back up in the season. I feel like,
like I'm just growing spiritually more like I'm asking God to cover my heart, be open
to new collections, connections, but cover my heart, cover my borderlines of my ear gates.
Like, I'm just really intrigued, just having fun. Like the skits, the comedic side and
I'm running what Charlotte told me so you all purpose entertainer
I'm running with that doing everything I could possibly do whatever I put down on picking back up. So right now I'm single
You know, I hear whoever like you feel me like
Miami Dolphins
Eagles what they do
Entrepreneurs You know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know,
you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you
know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you that in regards to relationships. Like does God say, you know what,
that's who you should be dating
or that's who you should be dealing with?
Absolutely, I feel like God sent me a man
after his own heart.
You know, me and Chris, we pray together.
That's my partner.
This is the first time I've been in a relationship
where I actually feel like
we're doing the spiritual growing together.
You know what I mean?
Like, in other relationships,
I'm not saying that I was dating atheist, you know
But I would initiate the praying I would initiate. No, let's let's read together
Let's you know when you know, you sent me two of these right? He took one. He's like, yo
I didn't know she was doing the daily devotion. I said, yeah what she sends me
He said I know she was turning into a book and you know, we started reading it like he he's very very spiritual
He's Christian God-faring man.
And yeah, I do feel like God has spoken to me
and told me this is the last person that she wanna be with.
This is the last and final relationship
and this is the one.
This is what I was preparing you for.
I do believe that wholeheartedly, yes.
I believe that for you.
So what about you, Via?
Has God told you, look,
I don't want you dealing with nobody right now? See, God is is the author of confusion. So whenever it gets a little rocky for me, I know that's not him
I've been in spaces where it's been confused confusion
Manipulative I talk about that
conniving just controlling and that is not of God now God will put you in a situations for you to learn it's a lesson like
a warning does come for destruction
I mean I can't understand what that means. Like it comes for destruction. So I think
in this season, God is saying be still and be patient, because you have tapped into different
relationships, whether it wasn't good for you. You have tapped into different friendships
that held you back. So I think in this season, he is telling me to be still and wait on him.
Seek he first the kingdom of God. I keep hearing that every time somebody call me they like, Oh, you were in my spirit and this dropped in it, Matthew, you need
to read it. So I'm like, okay, what am I doing that is moving too quick and not bringing
God along? So and waiting on his answer. So that's why I said in the beginning, I'm just
waiting on that soft whisper to move. So in this space that I'm in, I'm like, if it ain't
of him, and if I ain't, if we ain't doing what we need to do, I don't want you.
I don't care how much money you got,
I don't care if you got the G Unit chain on,
I don't care if the jibows is to the ground,
I don't care if the Timbs is flapping, I don't want it.
Yeah, if it's not.
We want a New York.
That's what it sounds like.
The G Unit chain, Timbalairs, jibow.
We're still kicking it with Pretty V.
So question, what's the most important chapter
in this book to you?
The most. If you wanted one person to say,
I wanted you to read this one chapter
because I think this chapter is whatever.
Yeah, I love you.
I love you, and why?
Because we don't hear that enough.
Yeah.
The household I grew up in, my mother said it,
but my dad was very slim to none.
Caribbean man, very hard, very like straightforward.
You don't hear as much. And then when you do, it's like, I have to say it. All right,
dad, did you hear me? I said, I love you. I love you too. My father showed he loved us
for sure. But it wasn't like I want you, I want you to tell me that because the trips
and the gifts and the Christmas stuff and expect to school clothes, that's cool. I need
to tell you who I fell in love with
and they broke my heart.
I need you to understand that I'm hurting right now
and I don't need to call my mentors in the industry
to ask for advice, I wanna call you first.
So I Love You is my favorite day of the book.
I don't know what day that is,
but that's one of them points,
because we don't hear it, I didn't hear it from anyone.
How has that changed you as a person?
Do you say I love you to everybody now
because you missed that, you didn't get that
like you wanted?
Mm-hmm, I do say I love you to a lot of people,
but I also, I think my heart is warm to people.
It's like more open because my father was very close.
Yeah, like again, it was just all about
making sure you're dependent, you're this,
you become a lawyer, you become a realist.
He didn't care about the comedy,
he was just like, that ain't gonna, like, whatever,
until I showed him that I could turn funny into money.
Until I showed him that I could do these things
about my first home and help the family, you know,
as much as I can, but I love you was not,
he didn't say that as much, you know.
What is your relationship with your dad now?
We're good, we locked in, like, that's my daddy, like,
you know, but it's just, like, being a Caribbean person,
everything's hard, like, it's just like,'s just like I books make sure you're in there
Make sure you become who you supposed to be don't do this don't do that
But like me my desk like my best friend have you had those talks?
I did we had a moment one day in Miami and we was back and forth and like I was like in his space
I'm like you need to respect that so he texts me and my dad and my dad don't even know I don't even know how you know how to text. I was like is my
little brother doing this for you or this is from your heart and he was like
we just have to work on communication. That's the first time he understood my
side and I understood his side you know so yeah. How did you pick who you wanted
to do your help with devotionals? The impact that you guys put on my life I
mean before like I knew what rap was,
Sharla was just like, yo, this show would be great for you.
The advice that I've gotten over the years from him,
keep going.
I text Sharla Reni, I love you, keep going.
You too, V, keep striving.
It's just the impact.
Jess, I watched her growth.
I'm inspired by her walk.
Again, I can't do what she does.
I think it's inspiring to me.
Issa, taking a chance on me to be a part of her show and still speaking to me
after the fact, like checking up on me and you know, she was going to be one of my moderators,
you know, for the book tour, but her scheduling for people, because I'm saying people who
to come out, they wait to do things like this is a pinch me moment for me.
You know, I don't take this for granted.
Like everything to me is like pure and genuine.
I love it.
And Shaq for giving me the best advice.
Every time I would respond in the blogs, Shaq would hit me like literally two minutes after.
You know, I had to call you like, yo, tell Shaq, don't block me.
Like what's going on?
So I think for me, it's more of like him giving me the best advice.
Don't respond.
You're a queen.
You don't come off your throne for them people.
And I didn't understand because I want to explain so much.
And he's like, no, we're not doing that.
And Duvall, like that's just my dog. Keara Sheer helped me when I was in, you know, in my head during
COVID. She gave me her aunt's counselor, you know, therapist so I could talk to her. So
shout out to Kierrasheer. Like I was really in a bad place in 2020. And she was just like,
you know, look at the Bible, everybody in there had committed suicide, overthinking,
you had this in the Bible, like this, you're not the only one walking through this space V, like keep your head up and I'm gonna give you my auntie's counselor
so you can talk to them because I was afraid of it. Like I was like, I'm a church girl, like all
you gotta do is pray and you'll be all right. But no, you actually need somebody. What put you in
that space in 2020? Just the COVID, you know, and I had COVID and COVID hit me mentally, it didn't
hit me physically. I was just in my head a lot. The brain fog, overthinking stuff,
like just doing the most.
And I kept calling my mom,
I think I need to go talk to somebody.
And she was like, it's COVID.
Like it was bad, 2020 was bad.
Everyone was passing away at that time.
And I just didn't know how,
I didn't know how to center myself.
And I think in that season, it's like getting your word.
Like God's pulling on you with some things.
He wants to talk to you spiritually.
And that's when I reached out to Kiki and she was just like, you know, I'm gonna tell
you right now to keep going, but you know, this is gonna happen.
But getting your word, and I'm gonna give you my auntie's, you know, counsel so you
can talk to her.
So everyone plays a part in my life, even the Victoria Teach Campbell, like just everybody
in here.
So be Simone, like everyone's in this book.
Let's end on this.
You say if you're starving, you'll eat anything.
Oh, Lord.
If you're starving, you'll eat anything. Oh lord. If you're starving you will eat anything. It's just plain and simple. You know again,
you got to wait and be patient. Like I just said, if the opportunity come for me to do something
that's off-brand and I want it and I feel like I'm not doing anything in the moment and I feel like
I need the money or if I feel like I want to be at a place just to show the people I'm not doing anything in the moment and I feel like I need the money or if I feel like I I want to be at a place just to show the people I'm working I'll do anything down the line
It starts tinting things and tinting the brand and making you look crazy when you should just wait be patient in this
And just wait. That's the thing like
Opportunities have come to me to do certain things and I've said no no no
But if and I know I needed the money, I know I needed to do certain things
I know I wanted to do certain things.
I know I wanted to put it towards a Sharon Shaw or just my craft.
But if I would have said yes, I'm just doing anything just to do it.
I'm not waiting on the process.
That's what I just said.
And I think day two, there's a process before the promise.
And the thing about it is we'll just go through, try to go straight through that promise and
it ain't doing nothing.
You just did it just cause to show your fans and your followers that
you moving and you working.
I'm out here with da da da, but they got you doing all these roles.
I remember a producer hit me and said, yo, I want you to be a stud and be like a lesbian
stud in one of my movies.
And I was like, you straight?
Like, I don't want to do that.
I'm bigger than that.
Like, you know, like no shade.
Like I don't want to put like, you ever miss a stomach out?
Like y'all straight?
Like I'm good. Like I don't want to do that. I'm bigger than that. Like you know like no shade like I don't want to put like you have to be a... you ever miss a stomach out like y'all
straight like I'm good like I don't want to do that. Did you tell him I would do that?
Why you didn't call sissy? Why you didn't call sissy? Crazy. Why you didn't call your sissy Jess?
You want to do this in Rome for me right? Want to be a stud? You already know, you already know I ain't get stud on these b******. I get stud on them. Like a lesbian, she a little, she a little butchy. A pregnant?
Lesbian?
And she like wife beat on, picking the hair.
All that.
What?
I'm like I don't wanna do that.
You don't see that for Jess?
I see it for Jess.
But I didn't wanna do that.
You're a fowl, you ain't passed out.
I love you, you're a fowl.
Well the book is out now to Pretty Victory and I think it's only right now.
It's available on the internet.

I said God's prayer so it's up to you.
Close your eyes and you go.
Okay period.

Lord God, whatever he's thinking about, Lord God, him and his wife shall do, Lord God.
Even his kids will eat off of those benefits, Lord God. And Father God, the generations
to come and to come. And every soul that's a part of Breakfast Club's team, Lord God,
bless them now and forevermore. Jesus mighty name. Amen. Amen
How intentional she is when she prays
That's right
It's pretty V
The pretty V, the pretty victory
It's the Breakfast Club, good morning
The Breakfast Club
Morning everybody, it's DJ Envy, JustHilarious, Charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club
We got a special guest in the building. I am insulted at YouTube or Google because I went to go Google Carlos
Just to see what they say he is they called you a goddamn youtuber
Producer mogul. Yes. Well, no, I'm definitely a multi-hyphenate
like everybody in this room.
So yes, listen, I'm a CEO of a production company,
King Dera Entertainment.
I am somebody who has a YouTube channel.
I am the host, EP of my podcast, Reality with the King.
I'm a certified Yapper, and you know, I'm a Libra.
Call those kings here here y'all.
What's happening, what's happening, what's happening?
So happy to be here.
Talk about a bit because to Charlamagne's point,
when people talk about Carlos King,
Reality with the King is a big show.
People know the moments,
but I don't think people really understand
that you were very integral in a lot of our favorite
reality TV, Real Housewives of Atlanta, the opening season.
Talk about that journey in your career.
Yeah, so listen, I'm the first black man
to ever executive produce the Real Housewives franchise
in general, so Atlanta was my first one, season six.
And to this day, under my leadership,
season six of the Real Housewives of Atlanta
still remains the highest rated season
on any show on Bravo.
So, you know, for me, I am somebody
who takes my career very seriously when it comes to the amount of work I've done. Real
Housewives of Atlanta, Real Housewives of New Jersey. And because of that is when I
left the show to start my production company, Kingdom Entertainment, and now I'm the creator,
executive producer of Love and Marriage Huntsville, which is
the number one show on Oprah Winfrey's network.
I read an article on Outtha that says that that show is responsible for 69% of all original
programming hours on own.
Yeah, so my production company, Kingdom Rank Entertainment, produces 69% of the programs
on Oprah's network.
Love that.
I need to talk about some goddamn YouTuber.
How do you? How do you figure out what you want to do
or what you want to get involved in?
Because love and maritime feel original idea.
Yes.
Where does that come from?
I love black people.
I am somebody who is interested in telling black stories.
I love black couples.
And I felt that at the time there wasn't a reality show
that focused on black couples and I felt that at the time there wasn't a reality show that focused
on black couples and their relationships when it comes to not the man being
behind the woman like on a housewives or theme ensemble show one thing I know by
men straight men they have an opinion a black man, as we see with the million podcasts people have,
they have an opinion.
And I wanted to do a show for the first time where the man and the woman had equal footing
and billing on the show.
And Love and Marriage Huntsville has been the number one show on for the past six years.
How did you go about casting the couples?
Are these friends of yours or do you know?
No, so I had a meeting with a band couple named Melody Martell who wanted to do a show
about property preservation and I was like, not sure about that.
So I said, find me some people I want to do a show about couples.
They introduced me to the Scots and the rest is history. What originally drew you to unscripted TV and what keeps you passionate about it?
Yeah, so listen, I'm a journalist. Hey, Portia. Hey, Lauren. I'm a journalist. I grew up watching
Oprah Winfrey, the late Ananda Lewis, who was my idol for so many years and still remains.
And for me, I wanted to just be somebody who was able to report on real people's stories,
real people issues. So when I got the bug and the call to produce the real hospital to Atlanta,
that's the first reality show I've done. And the moment Charlotte May, I stepped on set,
I felt like how you all feel it was it's like when your purpose meets your passion.
And I felt that God created me to be a storyteller
and to tell people's stories in the most authentic way.
And doing on scripted is the blessing
that I never thought I needed.
Wow.
It really is.
You talk about why though?
Because the thing is this,
I feel like everybody has a story.
So when I started my podcast, Reality with the King,
I wanted to create a safe space
where people were able to be unprovoked, not judge,
and be able to just sit with somebody who cares about them
and say, this is my truth, and this is how I feel.
And for me, when it comes to reality television,
there's nothing that makes me more happy
than to see regular people live their wildest dreams.
I think it's the most important blessing of my life.
When you think about season six
of Real Housewives of Atlanta, right?
We all know all the historic cast members
of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
What makes a cast member must watch TV to you?
Is it personality, is it vulnerability, is it drama,
or just something else that we might be missing?
It's all of the above.
And what's funny is, so when I cast women
and men on my shows, the number one question they ask me
is what are you looking for?
And I always say, I want authenticity.
The reason why the three of you are so amazing
at your job is because people wake up in the morning
and want to
listen and watch what the three of you have to say. So for me, it's all about being authentic,
being vulnerable. And listen, we all like a little excited life that may be a little
messy just like the world is. Put your scarf on and go live.
Well, you know.
Jess had to get the mess off her chest.
Like how about my dad had to get the mess off her chest.
That's a hot 16. Shout out to Nikki.
So for me, I love that.
That's why we just went live and was talking, you know, her truth, I called Jess and Lauren said, Hey, I have a podcast called Reality with
the King. You want to come on and talk to me? So that's what I do. I did.
But you've been also to, even from the first day I met you, you've been really encouraging
of us. You spoke to me about just before all of that
and you spoke to me about just this environment. What has that looked like for you mentorship
wise? So because it was, I didn't even know you, but you were like, here's what you need
to do. Here's what you like. Why are you that way? And what does that
Because I know what it's like to grow up in this crazy business and just wanting to be
heard. Yeah, I know what it just wanting to be heard.
I know what it's like to be the only in the room.
I'm an overly gay black man, shocker.
I know this voice is so deep, so much bass in it.
But for me, I know what it's like to be the only one.
I know what it's like to feel alone.
And I know what it's like to be a black person
in a space where everybody feels like
they know you. So when I saw what the two of you were going through, um, I just great
TV. Yeah. No, listen, listen, listen, you, first of all, Charlamagne is the Carlos King
of radio. I never say Andy Cohen, but definitely. Yeah to say. Say it now. Get off your chest.
And then gave me a hug before.
And she's crying and you was like, you felt that way?
I know I was like, well, Sean, they should be crying for weeks.
And they're going to say, well, I see a crowd all the time and don't.
Right.
So for me, I love black people.
I really do.
I really do.
I love black people.
I love black people.
I love black people.
I love black people. I love black people.. So for me, I love black people.
I really do.
And I am everybody's mentor.
I'm known as somebody who loves all the girls.
Every single reality star has contacted me to give them advice.
They slide in my DMs to no shade to, you know, hop on my shows.
But other than that, they do want somebody who looks like
me to say how do I go about doing this and that's why mentorship is very important to me because I
want to be able to give back to my community in a way that feels safe. We're still kicking with
Carlos King, Charlamagne. You, there's always a fine line between storytelling
and exploitation in reality TV.
How do you know when you've crossed it and do you care?
I do care, I do care.
I have a show called Bell Collective.
A wonderful woman named Marie Monroe
has a mother who abuses drugs currently
and has been doing that since Marie was a little girl.
It was Marie's decision to have that story be told on the show.
We told the story in one particular episode.
Marie was looking for her mother and she was searching for her through
crack houses and we were following it and we of course wanted the end
of the story to be she was getting healed because that was Marie's intention.
The moment I saw that this woman had a problem that didn't look like she was going to be
healed, I ceased shooting with her.
And I said that at some point will feel like we're exploiting this woman who clearly still
has a drug abuse situation that is prominent today.
And I did not want to be somebody to use my millions of viewers and audiences to show
a black mother dealing with that for the rest of the show.
So I see production on that one.
And then even not even before you get to her, even some of the other extra crackheads and
some of the houses that y'all
Followed him in they just probably like damn. I ain't telling us that they was coming today
Real crack houses of Atlanta would be fired
Radio I'm not saying this is bad. I'm trying to tell you. The Carlos King of radio. You call him Oka Minish for the rest of the day. Yeah, Charlotte May, you are.
One of the girls.
Not one of the girls.
No.
I'm going to say, do you know this?
Us gays love you.
I tell them.
I know the kids love me.
They call me, they say I'm trade.
I don't trade.
No.
What?
They say you trade.
Do you know what trade means?
No, but it's flattering, I think.
Trade is an instrument.
Trade is an instrument. Trade is an instrument. Trade is an instrument. No, but it's flat rate is and I had clock it trade is a black masculine but not black
a masculine man that looks like this, you know, with your basketball shorts and t-shirt and everything.
Yeah, it's like very like, ooh, what's up?
Yes, we like short brown around over here.
That's what I was waiting for you to say. They'd be like, he's so round, he's so thick. I'd be like, can y'all...
Oh my God!
I was talking about that time, I was walking out of Bi-Com in 1550.
What happened?
I was walking out of Bi-Com, and it was about four brothers, right? I didn't even pay no attention. I'm walking right, so I'm minding my business, all ahead.
Uh-uh, Charlamagne, don't you walk over here,
don't you walk past us with all that ass
and not say nothing.
I'm like, what?
I'm not excuse you.
Yes!
We love that.
American history is full of wise people.
Well, women said something like,
you know, 99.99% of war is diarrhea and 1% is glory.
Those founding fathers were gossipy AF and they loved to cut each other down.
I'm Bob Crawford, host of American History Hotline, the show where you send us your questions
about American history and I find the answers, including the nuggets of wisdom our history
has to offer.
Hamilton pauses and then he says, the greatest man that ever lived was Julius Caesar.
And Jefferson writes in his diary, this proves that Hamilton is for a dictator based on corruption.
My favorite line was what Neil Armstrong said.
It would have been harder to fake it than to do it.

So what happened at Chappaquiddick?
Well, it really depends on who you talk to.
There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car
into a pond. And left a car into a pond.
And left a woman behind to drown.
There's a famous headline, I think, in the New York Daily News.
It's, Teddy escapes, blonde drowns.
And in a strange way, right, that sort of tells you.
The story really became about Ted's political future, Ted's political hopes.
Will Ted become president?
Chappaquiddick is a story of a tragic death
and how the Kennedy machine took control.
And he's not the only Kennedy to survive a scandal.
The Kennedys have lived through disgrace, affairs,
violence, you name it.
So is there a curse?

It is big blushing, too.
You know what?
I went back.
All right, Joe.
You went back.
I went back.
How long?
Exactly.
Oh my God.
He's not talking yet.
So I want to go back to something that you said before.
You were saying that, you know, you wanted to be the change in the industry.
What were some of the things that you had to go through before you even got to that?
Like were you ever mistreated in the industry before you got to where you are?
Yes.
I, good question.
I remember being a producer and I worked really hard and I climbed the ladder the right way.
I was a PA, AP, I had every step in this business.
And I remember I had these set of mentors who I thought were like everything to me.
And long story short, I reached out to them for advice. Like, oh my gosh, you know,
I have an opportunity to be an executive producer.
I need some advice.
What should I do?
Do you know an agent?
Should I get an agent?
And all these things.
Long story short, they went behind my back
and told my bosses I did not deserve the promotion.
Wow.
Why?
Because what I have learned in this business is everybody wants you to do great
as long as you're not doing better than them. And that was a tough pill for me to swallow.
And I remember crying about that because it was my first time experiencing betrayal from
people who I thought were looking out for me. So when I experienced that, I said to myself,
no black person in my wheelhouse
would ever have to go through that again.
And that's the reason why my company,
I have an open door policy.
I speak to everybody from the PA, to the grip,
to the sound person, to the executives,
because I want everybody to know that
when they work for Carlos King,
we're gonna have a great time,
we're gonna work really hard,
but you also have somebody where the owner of the company
is gonna shake your hand and speak to you
and say thank you at the end of the shoot.
You know what I was always wondering
about black reality TV stars,
they seem to not get the same mainstream deals
or magazine covers.
Why do you think the industry still treats
black reality stars like they decide this is not the entry?
Especially when they had success
like Real Housewives of Atlanta.
A lot of people talk like that about Nini.
They feel like she should have more.
Yes, Nini to me is the Meryl Streep of reality television.
And we're gonna put some respect on her name for sure.
We all have benefited from Nini Leakes.
And I'm comfortable saying that given the woman
her must do in this business, I think when it comes to black reality stars, unfortunately,
just like any black woman in any industry, you aren't given the investment that you deserve.
You're not, whether it's the music industry, whether it's journalism, whether it's the
medical field, it's an unfortunate fact that when, you know, the medical field is an unfortunate
fact that when it comes to black women in any industry, black women lead the charge.
They're the curators, you know, they're the tastemakers.
But unfortunately, advertisers feel like if they're not white, would the consumer buy
into that?
And I think they will. And that's why when you look at Portia Williams,
Portia, capital P.
The cover of People Magazine.
Big deal.
Bernardine Peters.
Right.
Angela Bassett.
Yes.
You know, like you look at Portia and listen,
I'm gonna say this, cause I believe in it.
I think Portia Williams is currently
the black Kim Kardashian of our time.
And I think we need to look at her as somebody who is going to make so many strides in this
business.
And I believe strongly her People magazine cover illustrated that fact.
And when I saw that, I was like, where's her deals now? I'm like that to me that to me really showcased like this
woman's about to set things on fire like she did that car.
You said it was iconic.
I think Portia is so iconic and I just love her so much because again she's what Charlamagne
I just talked about. She's vulnerable, she's funny, she's authentic and you know she's what Charlotte May and I just talked about. She's vulnerable. She's funny. She's authentic.
And, you know, she's having a season where she's going through a divorce. And that's challenging.
I think anyone who's going through a divorce sees that and understands that. And if you have never
gone through a divorce, I think you will never understand what that does to a woman. It does
something to a woman.
And I've seen it with Nini Leakes.
I've seen it on my shows, Love and Marriage.
I've seen it across the world.
And I think we have to really give her some grace.
We're still kicking with Carlos King Lauren.
Did you see the interview that Simon recently did with Page Six where he did?
How did you feel about that interview and him throwing a lot of the blame on?
Portia for the I think this I think it's one of situations where I don't know Simon
I met Simon at the wedding for the first time
Nigerian wine at the time I was with an African who looked like Charlamagne
The Mali region. That's where I'm from. Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal.
Like I'm serious.
You know that guy, you know him.
He could have been related to cyber. I don't know.
So he was either plus one for the wedding?
I mean, you know.
Yeah, he was.
Oh my God!
What'd you say? What did you say?
That's a wrong question!
Yes it was!
That's an exclusive!
So my thing is, well I'm vegan now, I'm trying to make so...
Kola!
My vegan meat.
Stop, yes!
I like a good amount of protein.
But my thing is this, I met Simon at the wedding day, the
Nigerian wedding. It was me, Giselle Bryant, sitting next to each other. And I saw the
love in that room. And you had to be there to understand there was love there. I am shocked
that Simon has decided to go this route when it comes to creating a narrative
about his wife.
Listen, I wasn't there.
I was in the bedroom.
I don't know what happened.
For sure.
But I do think when it comes to a man, at the end of the day, I do think there's some
sort of protection that needs to happen to where you have to look at her mental health and understand that
I do believe that everybody should tell their own story, but I do think it comes to a point
to where it could be too much.
And I think as a man, you have to decide like, I got my point across and I'm done and I hope that Simon in his
quiet times understands that I feel like he did an interview he got his story out and
I think now is the time to be like alright bro we heard you.
Also Tudor you got to look at it and think to yourself how much of that is projection
because I mean he's going through a lot of trying.
Sure.
He just was locked up. You got deported.
Now you got to step set up like shopping a whole new place.
Even though you're from there.
Yeah.
Dubai, Nigeria.
I don't know.
He's in Nigeria.
Yeah.
I mean, he can go between both, but I think he's in.
Yeah.
He just can't come back to America.
I just think when I saw the interview, I just saw a lot of projection.
Yeah.
I saw a lot of pain and listen, I'm not here to dissect that man's emotion and what isn't really not
I believe he obviously
Listen, I know there was love there. I was at the wedding and Porsche teared up and I saw so much
Love between those two that I am shocked that things are where it's at now
But with that being said I do think at some point you have to put down, you know, the
missile and just say, I will deal with this now privately.
So hopefully that happens.
Has doing reality TV ever been challenging to you to the point where you're like, all
right, look, I'm done with this.
Like I'm walking away from this.
Like has there ever been a moment where it got personal for you? Although it's business. Oh, just with the girl. Okay. You know, I'm done with this like I'm walking away from this like has there ever been a moment where it got personal for you
Although it's business. Oh just with the cook. You know I learned a little bit
Okay. Look, I think there is a time to where you have to
Take inventory of what's happening in an industry and I look at reality television now
And it's not what it used to be. Yeah, I started 2008
Like I was there when NeNe Lee's had a quick leave
Okay, you know I'm saying I was there when charade have broken gates in her million dollar home
You know I'm saying like I was there when things were real and women joined the show because they were like this could be interesting
And obviously listen be famous and all those things and whatever.
I don't like where it's hitting to where I feel like a lot of people
join the show for the wrong reasons.
And they don't understand that.
It's it's a.
You're doing a deal
where you have to exchange your privacy for publicity.
Yeah. And when you hear reality stars saying, I'm talking about that, where you have to exchange your privacy for publicity.
And when you hear reality stars saying,
I ain't talking about that, that's too real.
Or when they use social media to turn people
against the production,
because they don't like the fact that the audience
doesn't like them in this particular episode.
You know what I mean?
Like we all have bad moments.
You know, I felt for you when you,
you know, talked about your situation. I felt bad for you. You're good. But you know, because
he loves he loves he's like me. He's like, was my name spelled right? Okay, I'm good.
Because that's Sean and me. Did you get the G in the end of the E because theences is silent. Okay. So for me, I do understand that this is a tough industry
because of social media. And I have said that social media has killed the reality star.
Tell me more. Because social media has poisoned the reality star into behaving in a way that pleases them.
And the reality star, if they're not strong enough, and if they don't have the right people
around them, they can fall into that trap and they can lose opportunities because nobody
wants to be around somebody who constantly is berating someone when you're like,
we were good.
Oh, but that episode aired.
And you don't like the feedback that you're getting.
So now all of a sudden it's editing fault.
But baby, during the production, we were good.
You know, we had a watch party, it was great.
You got the episode, you like, yay.
And then user 3079 and you like production and it's like
come again so those days to me are definitely diminishing and that's the
reason why look reality with the kings of hip- podcast. And that's why I'm so happy to announce that we have partnered
with Black Effect.
That's right.
Yeah. So shout out to Charlotte May.
I really appreciate you.
Listen, you're somebody who I always
looked up to since your days being
with Wendy.
And I feel like our stories are so
parallel because I know what it's like
to be the psychic and I know what
it's like to just want tokick and I know what it's like
to just want to be able to, of course, service the person who you're working for, but also
have your own dreams and desires.
So with my podcast, joining the black effect network, you know, expect things to be bigger
and bolder.
And listen, I think for me, it shows that you have two black men who are powerful in their
own individual industries.
But I believe this partnership will show the world and the community and the culture that
two black men, okay, can join forces with no ego and figure out a landscape to where
we can do business on a multi-level scale.
So the fact that this partnership is happening,
me and Shailen May about to make a lot of money.
Yeah, and I'm looking forward to learning the world
of Unscripted through you.
Yeah.
That's what I want Black Effect to be,
a multimedia company, right?
Multimedia production company.
So we've already talked about doing Unscripted stuff.
Yes, yes.
Now that Reality with the King is on the black effect network first of all download
the app mm-hmm okay they got recently shady which is L Bryant and Robin
Dixon they got the latest with Lauren LaRosa they have a lot of people okay so
I'm going to be dropping between four to five episodes a week. Oh you coming for me cuz I'm daily well you know for everybody yes yes as long as I don't have a Bob you and good

But you're so good at it.
You're trying to be a fake ass Charlamagne.
There's only one Charlamagne in the world.
Damn Charlamagne, who you give a ducky of the day to then?
Well, sexy red, Donkey of the Day goes to a 34 year old woman
from Mississippi named Jessi, let me see, Jessinia,
Jessinia Faye Ezell.
Let me tell you something, man,
I don't know what world we live in anymore.
Okay, stop thinking you know people
because you think you know, but you have no idea.
I was born in 1978.
Personally, I believe after 1990,
God stopped making humans.
Okay, he stopped making humans.
He sold the patent.
It's his product, but not his recipe
because these people out here look like us,
but they not like
us okay see Jusinia went into a dollar general with a gun very low-hanging fruit
okay if you're gonna take a penitentiary chance don't do it at dollar general
okay I would rather you not do it at all I would rather you not walk into any
store with a gun but definitely not dollar general in fact if your brain
says I should go rob this
Dollar General, you should immediately change your thoughts to I should go in this Dollar
General and fill out a job application. One of the reasons it's stupid to rob a Dollar
General is because you never know how much cash a Dollar General has on hand at any given
time. So you might fool around and get 20 years for $20. The money in Dollar General
fluctuates constantly
based on sales, expenses, deposits, withdrawals. It's just not smart to do. Not smart to rob
any place, but definitely not at Dollar General. Okay. Now, just send her into the store with
a firearm in demanding money. Then she got into an altercation with an employee before
leaving the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Dear Dollar General employee,
Dollar General not dying for you.
Okay, the only way you should end up in a fight
with someone who walks in any store with a gun to rob it
is if your life is being threatened.
If you fighting for your life, I completely understand.
Other than that, get the hell out the way
and go hide behind the Doritos.
Now, I'm not giving you donkey because you robbed the Dollar General, Jusinia. I could,
okay? But there is more to this story. See, officers came to the store to investigate.
And after they came to investigate, Jusinia did something no criminal should ever do,
and that's return to the scene of the crime. What did she return to the scene of the crime
for? What'd you like to know? What do you think she returned to the scene of the crime. What did she return to the scene of the crime for? Would you like to know? What do you think she returned to the scene of the crime for?
Huh?
What'd you think?
I have no idea.
Because she dropped her cell phone.
I repeat, officers said they were at the store
investigating when Jasenia Ezell returned to the scene
and asked about a cell phone she dropped during the robbery.
Is it crack?
It's got to be crack.
OK, Ezell, you got the right last name because you must be a crackhead.
Ice Cube, if you look in the cast, a new crackhead named Ezell.
And last Friday, we have found your person.
RIP AJ Johnson.
OK, you just robbed the Dollar General at Gunpoint, Yesenia.
And you came back to the store while police was investigating the ask about a cell phone you dropped during a robbery.
Let me tell you something, man. Even if you're not smoking the fried cocaine,
that's normal from our era, you are absolutely addicted to this new drug,
the biggest drug on the market, by the way, and that's your smartphone.
Okay, once again, smartphones making dumb people. We love these devices so much. We treat them like they are the 79th organ in our body. We
treat them like they are our hearts, our lungs, our livers, our kidneys. We are
addicted to these devices. No doctor has universally diagnosed us with phone
addiction but it's obvious. Okay, all of us exhibit behaviors and symptoms that
suggest a strong dependency on these smartphones and this right here is just the latest example.
Some donkey todays just sell themselves.
Please give Jusinia Ezell the sweet sounds of the day Yee-haw!
You wanna play a game? We think we gotta figure it out.
We can play a game.
You think we gotta figure it out?
Play a game. X and a first.
Okay. Well let's play a game of
Guess What Race is!
Yes, J inia easel
Okay from Mississippi all right with the Robber dollar general
Yes got into a fight with an employee but then left with an undisclosed amount of money
But came back to the scene of the crime while police were investigating because she dropped her cell phone DJ envy
Yes, what right? She is black damn
I don't like how you said that so quickly.
Why, why you think that gotta be one of us?
Just a hunch.
Just a hunch, huh?
Okay.
Just a hunch.
Okay.
Jess Hilarious, Jusena Ezell from Mississippi,
walked into a dollar general to rob it,
got into a fight with one of the employees,
but were left with an undisclosed amount of money,
but came back to the scene of the crime while police were investigating because she dropped
her cell phone.
Cheslarians, guess what race she is?
I'm going to say black too for one.
Why?
Ezel is her last name.
Okay, okay.
Two, I robbed many dollar generals.
Not at gunpoint.
No, not at gunpoint.
No judges, we don't know.
But I've definitely robbed many of them and I've gotten into altercations with cashiers
as well.
Because you were stealing something and they trying to stop you.
Like it's theirs and it's not.
Since I can steal some stuff for you too, chill.
But why Dollar General?
Why not?
Because it's easy.
Everything is easy.
I told you, me and...
I was broke, Envy.
Sorry.
I wasn't out hit like you since I was 10.
I had to fend for myself a lot.
So me and Asher used to steal.
I want Jess Hilarious and DJ Envy to know
that they are both absolutely, positively wrong.
What?
Okay?
I was wrong. I'm going off experience.
He's just judging black people cuz he not
black that's right Dominican Yesenia is not black what is she she's my girl
it's a difference and until y'all learn the difference y'all will continue to
make that mistake okay okay okay yes but why she went back in for the phone when
she's in the police the phone when she seen the police there? I was just skating.
You were gonna have to catch me.
You were gonna have to catch me.
Why do we keep having to tell y'all this all the time?
N***a got the egg.
Well, she probably thought that they was there for something else.
Dude, shut up.
Yeah, honestly, she probably thought the cops was there for something else and came back
and just, yeah, she wasn't thinking.
How old was she?
Thirty-four.
Damn.
Damn, yeah, she's stupid as hell.
All right.
Well, thank you for that donkey today.
Yes, indeed.
The Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's time for hell. All right. Well, thank you for that donkey today. Yes, indeed.
The Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ, Envy, Jess, Hilarious, Charlamagne, the guy.
We are The Breakfast Club.

Horsha is back.
Horsha Williams, welcome.
What's good?
How you feeling?
I'm feeling good.
I was just saying, I love you.
Oh, I love you too.
I love you on the show.
Why, is her name Lauren, like your sister?
Yes, I love me a good Lauren.
Lauren, Lauren, yes.
Lauren's are special people.
They really are.
I was just saying this morning, how many I have.
My assistant is Lauren, Lauren.
We have another stylist, Lauren.
It's just, Lauren's everywhere.
Lauren's everywhere.
We look rich.
Thank you.
You giving glow, giving money.
The spirit is giving rich, honey.
The spirit is giving rich.
Back on Housewives.
Yes, I love you.
I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. Lawrence and we're rich
Back on housewives. Yes, who would have thought three years away from the show and now I'm back
It's really exciting to be honest with you. So what happened? How do you get a lot of money for sure? It's not like you need to be on
God has you know what? It's God has really been good to me three years away
from reality TV.
I thought you know somebody getting money.
God is good to me.
He's good.
Really good to me.
Okay, in spite of, okay?
But no, you know, I have a certain relationship
with my fans.
I've been doing a show for 10 years,
and they're really not fans.
I call them supporters,
because they've been with me through everything,
a divorce, giving birth to Pilar on TV
Like ups and downs of life and so, you know, I really felt like at the time it was gonna be great to share
My life my happily
Married life, you know, but I one thing about me my fans do respect
I'm transparent. So even though it didn't turn out the story that I wanted to share
I still was open what I had
So let's let's I want to know what let's start with the divorce, right?
Assumed it was infidelity, but you know in the first episode you talk about you would go to the airport
You would always get pulled to the side and you got to the point
He was like why the hell do we keep getting pulled to the side? Right, right, right? What do you call ice on son?
No, no.
It doesn't benefit me at all for him to be locked up.
Mentally and financially it doesn't benefit me.
You know, just because you're going through a divorce doesn't mean you hate someone.
I hate actions, I hate lies, I hate a lot of characteristics, but I love the person,
you know, and I would never wish harm on anybody.
And at the end of the day I I know that he's a hard person.
He's a slithering snake.
He's going to find his way out of it.
I'm sure he'll be fine.
You know, and I pray for him, his family, and I hope they all figure it out.
So where is it at right now?
Because last the last reports were like he's detained.
The existence was denied.
Like, so where is he physically and like what's happening right now?
So I only know as much as you guys know and as much as what's online.
As far as I know, they've been posting
that he's still being detained.
In Georgia?
I'm not sure, I haven't looked into it that much.
I just know I'm trying to finish my divorce
and I can't deal with that
if I don't have a person to divorce.
Really? You gotta be able to do it?
We need to be in court.
Yeah, well, you know, he wanted to have our last court date,
which was just a couple of weeks ago. He asked for it to be in court. Yeah. Well, you know, he wanted to have our last court date, which was just
a couple of weeks ago, a week ago. He asked for it to be in person. I didn't want it to
be in person because I knew this whole thing. You know, when I got enlightened about the
whole thing. So you did call us. No, I knew that he already had a peculiar situation with
the United States of America. And so it wasn't going gonna benefit me or him for it to be in person.
We had already done a year's worth of the divorce over Zoom. So why in person? Why are you fighting
for that? Girl, you would have showed up looking just like that too. Who me? Of course. Oh, well,
you know, you gotta give me that last look. You woulda. Now I don't want the divorce.
Now he also filed that he didn't want you to record in the house? Yes, yes.
So I did. But it was your house? Yes, our house. So I mean I know he's explained it a
thousand different ways online. He has documented our entire divorce on the
Simon Show online and then I have the housewives I suppose. But yeah, there is
paperwork in place
that would make it a marital property 50-50 split.
Outside of that being enforced,
it is a premarital property or whatever.
But you know, I am on the other side of this.
Like we've been divorcing now through this process
for a whole year.
And you know, I've emotionally,
it's caught up with what I had to do.
So like emotionally, I feel like I'm ready to be done with it.
I'm ready to heal, ready to move on.
But you know, here comes the reality show.
So here's the part of my life where it gets interesting.
I'm done with the divorce,
but I had to deal with it all the darkness on camera.
So it comes right back.
Yeah, and so now it has to come back.
So now I have to be super prayed up.
I have to be super vigilant of who's around me, of energies.
I have to be very protective of my peace at this point,
because I know what I'm getting into.
More than any other season,
this season could affect me more than any other season.
And girl, this is your season.
I mean, you've always been, like you, Kenya, Nini, Candy,
y'all are the OG girls, but right now,
I think we're all excited
because you have been away from the show.
We know that Kenya eventually exits,
Nini's not there, Candy's not there.
So it's like, we are looking for you
to bring back how it used to feel.
So there's so many eyes and people
are gonna critique it so much.
So like, what's the daily mantra with filming?
Because these girls are not,
they not always gonna give you that
protected piece that you talking about.
Well, no, cause I just met a couple of them.
The show started with BS.
They know me too, protect me.
It was like, hang on, you stole.
I was like, what?
So, you know, for me, I came back into this kind of feeling
brand new, not going to lie.
Like three years is a really long time from having cameras
in your life.
American history is full of wise people.
Well, women said something like, you know, 99.99% of war is diarrhea and 1% is glory.
Those founding fathers were gossipy AF and they love to cut each other down.
I'm Bob Crawford, host of American History Hotline, the show where you send us your questions
about American history and I find the answers, including
the nuggets of wisdom our history has to offer.

The Kennedys have lived through disgrace,
affairs, violence, you name it.
So is there a curse?

Life on a daily basis.
I was looking into the damn camera lens for most of the time.
Like, I was getting stumbling over words.
It was like brand new Porsche all over again.
And then I just said, you know what? I talked to the producer. So this was collaborative. I was getting stumbling over words. It was like brand new Porsche all over again.
And then I just said, you know what?
I talked to the producer.
So this was collaborative.
Me coming back, a big part of me coming back was collaborative.
We had conversations, my husband or estranged husband and production about how I wanted
to be and how I asked them to be was completely honest.
I asked them, can I break the fourth wall?
Fourth wall on reality TV is saying I'm late because I had to film my mom at my house because
it's the season to sit on my crib.
You know what I'm saying?
So I told them, I said, listen, the only way I can do this is to just speak my truth and
be 100% honest.
You can edit what you got to do later.
But for me to get through this at this dark time and losing like my person I have to be as honest as I possibly can and they agree to that and I feel like they stuck with that
You know, I gotta see the show but I feel like they stuck to letting me just live authentically. I saw Dr
Simone Whitmore call you a mean girl. Why she say that about you capital P
I don't know. I couldn't really understand what she was saying.
I think Simone is reaching that straws.
I mean, I don't know.
I think Simone is full of it, just like that piece of doo-doo she had on her head.
Like she just, to me, she on her show, sometimes when you're on reality TV, right?
She's an OBGYN.
She started on the show and you know, she was a regular person and now on the camera.
Sometimes when you start lacking in story, you start lacking was a regular person and now on the camera sometimes when you start lacking in story you start lacking as a person
Individually you start just reaching and coming at you were on point
So she's lacking so when people lack they try to deflect and come to you
Yeah, I didn't get me in girl from the first episode. I got late. He was late. I was late
To be late, but again, logistics, behind the scenes, things that you will see
and things you don't know.
I had to film at my mom's house because I couldn't film in my house at the time.
And she lives out in Duluth, baby.
And that was on a Friday in the rain.
So wait, you're talking about filming at your mom's house in the house because I saw online
that you weren't awarded sole possession of the house.
So I was. But you still can of the house. So I was.
But you still can't film there.
So I was.
So no, here's the thing.
I could do what I want in my house.
I could film like a whole porno in my house.
I could do what I want, right?
Why you have to go there?
I don't know, maybe.
I know.
I ain't had none in a while, so I just have to think about it.
But okay, so I can do what I want in my house.
However, he sent the cease and desist to Bravo.
So when he sent that to Bravo, they don't want to play with that.
So I needed to get a separate document that said I can film in the house to give to them
so they don't have to worry about him harassing them with legal things.
Right.
Can he send anything legally being that he's here illegally?
Let me Google that.
I'm not an immigration attorney.
I don't know.
But if he has an attorney, he can send whatever he wants.
I would think everything he sends is null and void.
Yeah, but bravo.
I'm sure don't want to fight that.
Well, let's hope so.
We're still kicking it with Portia Williams from Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Charlamagne?
I want to ask you about this with more thinking because she said, I think she was, if I'm
not mistaken, correct me, Lauren, she was saying that Phaedra left her show to come
back with you.
Yeah, because they freaking back.
So it's like now the reunion of them as a friend,
she was basically saying that.
Freaking fracking over there to check was whack.
Like Housewives played very well.
Because I was going to ask you that because
Phaedra comes in later in the season.
I'm like, was that switched because what?
Did you need the friend or like did this,
it's the money thing?
We always need Phaedra.
I don't give a damn.
We always need the legends of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
There's just certain situations to where we can't have some of them back.
But if there was a where there's a will, there's a way.
I wanted to have a back.
The cast wanted a back and Bravo wanted her back in her home on Housewives.
Now, how tight are you and Drew?
Drew, you know, Drew, some people you just realize, OK, you just a little.
Is she still an ambassador of go naked hair?
Absolutely not. OK. Go naked hair? Absolutely not.
Okay.
Go naked hair is her hair brand.
I can't put my hair on people's head and then they think they're me.
Like that's what I can't do.
Like that's what we're not going to do.
You don't become Porsche by wearing Porsche's hair.
You need to just enjoy my hair, take it out when it's dirty and put it in back in when
it's clean.
You know, like you can't just like all that.
She is a she's the okay person. I think for a lot of her friends.
I think they love her.
I think they trust her.
I think if you're not her friend, you shouldn't trust her and you shouldn't be around her.
Okay.
So with you saying you shouldn't trust her, you shouldn't be around her and she is not
wearing go naked hair anymore.
You were not happy about the allegations that she might be in a relationship or whatever
with Dennis your ex.
See this is why I like Breakfast Club.
You ask the question that need to be answered.
Okay.
So here's the thing on the show.
I don't know how it's going to come off again because this is the show has to sensationalize
things.
Right.
So how good is it for me to be going through a divorce and I'm still jealous about my baby
daddy.
That's BS.
Right.
So in real life she actually was trying to film with him behind my back and that's just
not cool.
Come on.
We housewives.
Film with him on Housewives.
So it's just not cool.
Right?
It felt like a setup for me in some way.
So you didn't know Drew was recording with Dennis.
You didn't know anything.
You didn't know that they were speaking.
You didn't know that they were talking until that first episode.
In the hub holding hands, allegedly.
Holding hands in the club.
That's what they said on the episode?
I didn't know any of that.
So you found out right there in that episode.
What's so funny.
I saw the episode and she was like she asked him and I said yes and she talked to me and
I said yes and I'm like that's just not true.
Like I genuinely didn't know.
Look at the end of the day, I like I told Shamia if Drew and Dennis want to get together,
I just hope she can do baby hair for Pilar.
Like I'm happy with Drew.
I think she's a great parent.
I think if him and her were to get together
and you know, they can have a solid relationship.
That's good too.
Just don't screw me where you asked me to come back to be.
She had been asking me to come back to Housewives.
And when I came back, this is what you had waiting on me.
This whack storyline that y'all came up with.
Oh, so I see what you're saying.
So if it was real, you wouldn't have a problem with it?
Of course not. I've never got... Listen, everybody knows Dennis and I have a great
co-parent relationship and it is strictly because his personal life is his personal life
and mine is mine.
So he didn't say nothing to you at all either. You found out on the show,
so y'all didn't have no conversation.
No, he ain't gonna tell me because he can benefit off me finding out on the show.
Surprise!
Yeah!
Surprise, surprise!
That's what he went on.
Do you still love Dennis?
Cool.
Yes.
Yeah.
Not like, you know, please don't take that sound bite like that.
I mean, yes, as in that's my daughter's father and I want the absolute best for him.
But do you love him like still let him sweat on you?
You should have said sling hot dogs.
Sweat on me?
No. No. No. I still let him sweat on you. You should have said sling hot dogs. That's what you should have said. Sweat on me?
No, no.
No.
No.
I can't even, and you know, this has been a period of time,
I've been divorcing a year, you know,
and a lot of people move fast, even in their divorce time.
I just don't see him in that way.
I just don't.
And I think because, it's because of Pilar,
you don't play with that.
You know, I'm already going through a divorce and she's already, you know, losing someone
who she called a stepdad, papa, etc.
I don't want to play with her seeing me and her father be in a relationship and then break
up.
That's not responsible for me.
So the love I have for her just causes me not even to be attracted to him in that way
at all.
Because I just don't, we have so many ups and downs, our relationship can be toxic at
times and I just don't want to enter into that space with him.
You have a great relationship parenting, co-parenting.
We have a good co-parenting.
Well, I am single right now.
So we're going to see how it works out when I get somebody.
Is that hard to find somebody to portion because you are so high profile?
Yeah, for you.
Because you're high profile, you're on TV, people may not want to be, they may not
want their life involved in that. True. So certain caliber of people. I do, I do
tend to attract a lot of opportunists. So yes, the people who probably are
opportunists and who are in their own lane doing their own thing and don't want
to part of anything I have going on probably tend to skew away from trying to date me.
Which is the downside of being a reality star.
But I just feel like at the end of the day right now,
I can't even think about that.
Like I can't even imagine me like being
with someone else right now because I still have
the energy of my husband around me.
So when that's done, I think maybe the atmosphere will be like
her king is coming.
You said something that was interesting. You said that you can't get the energy of Simon
off you. What makes you get the energy of a person off you? Like Lauren got saved. Your
sister got to save you.
She could, she could, but you know, this divorce, it's going to take some time. It's going to
take time. To the public, our
relationship was so sensationalized that I don't think they saw it as a real
relationship, but I genuinely did love my husband and I had all kind of plans. If
you have ever been married on a long-term relationship, everything you do,
you're considering that person. They're a part of it. So everything I'm still
doing, I'm having to piece him out of it
You know and I'm still in our home. I would like to redecorate or do whatever
But I got to still wait to see what's gonna happen with that. He and I
Stop talking about Simon
This is not true
What does it say this can't be real they just handed me that. What does it say?
This can't be real.
They just handed me that, I have no idea.
Oh wow.
Okay, so,
Lauren, look at that.
What is happening?
Sorry.
I'm just playing, I made that up.
Oh my, what happened?
I'm just playing, I made that up. Oh my!
What?
What happened?
Insane!
I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm
like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm
like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm
like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm
like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm
like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like,
I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like,
I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm
like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm
like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I giggling so we knew he was up to something but he even playing it cuz he has somebody walk it in the letter says
this you know people online of course they're making jokes like oh you know
she called or whatever this is like a person who I have shared a life with I
don't want nothing to happen to him. I don't
want, I don't even want him to port it like at the end of the day. That scared me. I was
like, Mr. Mental Health just threw you off.
What you mean?
Ray, you disrupted my peace. You're all about protecting peace.
I really thought something happened to somebody because you look like you were about to cry.
Yeah.
All right. Woo-sah, woo-sah. Back to the show.
There was a lot of men that were happy that that happened to him though. They were? You look like you were about to cry. Yeah. All right, who's side, who's side? That's fine, because I don't need to know about the show.
There was a lot of men that were happy
that that happened to him though.
There were?
Yes.
Because of how he feel about you.
Because they went to high school.
Well, and that's the scary part about being online,
like going in on a personality that people actually like.
You don't know who could have done anything.
You know what I mean?
You just don't know.
We're still kicking it with Portia Williams
from Real Housewives of Atlanta. Charlamagne?
What happened when y'all shot the upshaws?
Cause we had NeNe up here.
Yeah.
And she said you blocked her from,
but you wouldn't do it with her.
I was doing this show called The Upshaws
and she kind of was like,
she didn't want to do the upshaws with me.
She didn't tell me that.
She told the production crew
and the production told us that, you know.
Is that true?
I don't believe it. It's the that you know, it's the truth
So no, it's not that I wouldn't do it with her so I signed on to do the upshaws and I had just fouled
so when it happened, I had already signed up to do the show and
I really couldn't cancel at that point
to do the show and I really couldn't cancel at that point. So when I got there I just was sitting in the green room or the waiting area and I just like
start breaking down. Then she was in the room next to me. Just hearing her
voice broke me down because I just felt you when you're going through the voice
you just feel so alone. Just hearing her voice just it was just too familiar. And, you know, I had not talked
to her. I didn't know how I could face her. I didn't know how I could face anybody. So
it genuinely wasn't me saying, no, I don't work with this person or that person, whomever,
because I agreed to it. I just wasn't capable of doing it that day.
Mentally and emotionally.
Mentally and emotionally. I could not gather myself at all. So when I spoke to them, they were like, you know, I understand you're not gonna be able to act as a housewife today
They ended up letting me go home
And then they said we'll fill you in will fill in your spot with Cynthia and then after that in true nanny fashion
She just turned it into something about herself and it genuinely wasn't about her. It was about me
You know what I'm saying? Like her actions of like taking Simon's side and hanging out with him with women
or whatever they were doing, which is fine because in a divorce you're gonna
pick a side. I can't judge if she wanted to go over there. Who knows? She may think
he right and I'm wrong. It is what it is. You know you said you like seeing the OGs
on the show. Would you welcome NeNe back? Yes, I will welcome her back. I mean it ain't gonna look like I'm welcoming her
back. Let me get this straight. We ain't gonna have a time in the beginning, but I'm
for what's good for the show, but I just feel like realistically as much as we
all love NeNe and I mean miss Neene, realistically you just can't sue a
network. You cannot say things about Andy Cohen that are that damaging and expect
that bridge to still be standing. So unfortunately I just don't know if she
can cross that and come back. I got one more show question because I know you
also are acting too. You got a lifetime situation we want to talk about but Kenya,, so I know she's not going to finish out the season because of what happened with
her and Brittany, but they were saying that she could come back potentially season 17.
Who said that?
I thought that she was only suspended for the rest of the 16.
I thought she was only suspended for season 16 and could potentially come back for 17
now.
I would hope that's true.
I just can't see I'm in 100%
agreement with her not being here. I would love for her to be at the reunion. I'm for
what's best for the show. And I loved where Kenya was going. She's not that happy with
me right now, you know. I should not be with you right now. I thought y'all were doing
better this season. She didn't like when I said that when I compared her to Brit and
I said they were similar. And I said they were similar,
but I meant because they're both fabulous.
They're both, to me, speak their mind.
Like, you know, when you don't like somebody,
you don't wanna be compared to them, so.
Right, got you.
But whatever, girl.
Hell, I gotta talk about you.
You a part of the show.
Don't you wanna be talked about?
A big part of it is kinda crazy, though.
I didn't even think about the reunion.
Like, the fact that she won't even be on the reunion.
Who said that?
It's possible. I'm still hopeful. I didn't even think about the reunion. Like the fact that she won't even be on the. Who said that? It's possible.
I'm still hopeful.
I'm still hopeful.
She is.
She's still a big part of the show.
She's not the show.
She didn't make or break the season, but Kenya is a person who I've been doing
this with for a very long time.
And for once we were possibly about to have a season of not being foes.
You know what I'm saying?
Phaedra.
I have to say when Phaedra came in, she helped to elevate the show as well and
keep us where we needed to be because everybody been wanting to see her. She's been gone the
whole time. Candy's been gone. Yeah. So, you know, it's people wanting her back.
And Candy has been really upset about how Kenya has been treated by the network. She's
been very vocal about that. And then Phaedra coming back, I don't know if Candy's too excited about that as well, too. But yeah, do you feel like the network. She's been very vocal about that and then Phaedra coming back I don't know if Kandee's too excited about that as well too, but yeah
Do you feel like the network protects you guys the way that they should cuz that's what Kandee's saying
It's like the network didn't protect one of their stars, which is Kandee. I still work for the network
So I don't share certain sentiments, okay
Let's be clear. All right. I'm saying that I think Kenya deserves an opportunity
And an opportunity can be given to anyone.
You can always say no.
She can say whatever she wants to say to Britt, the cast, the crew and whoever and they can
say no but I believe she deserves that opportunity.
I ain't say a damn thing about the network.
Love the network.
Talk about all this money you're getting pampered by Portia.
Lifetime series.
Go Naked Hair, the Lifetime movie.
Yeah, it's Detective Ebony Williams
and the upcoming Lifetime movie,
Single Black Female 3, The Final Chapter.
Yes, yes, that was big for me.
I always want to be in a Lifetime movie.
I am obsessed with Lifetime,
and I am amongst the cast of great women
who've been, they had two other movies.
This is the third installment, the last one.
And I played Detective,
I look totally different in this movie.
I even stopped doing Botox for this movie.
I did.
I was like, you know what?
I'm not doing any Botox.
I want my whole face to move.
How does that guy look at the trailer?
Oh, it's frozen right now.
I hope so.
No, but in the trailer, no, no, you look good.
But in the trailer, cause I know when you saw the Botox,
it's weird.
Every freaking line, I got lines on my forehead,
I got a crow's feet, I got all of it because my role is so different
from who I am.
Like I'm an alcoholic, I'm a bit of a stalker,
like you know, I ain't gonna say who else,
what else I've done in a movie,
but I think it's gonna be a good look for me
in the acting world because it's totally different
from me playing myself and a lot of other things
that I've done before.
I got one last question. Will the Nigerian man get another shot or do you feel like the stereotype
is true and all of them are scammers now? So you just done. Well I am Nigerian so
of course I would date another one. You know I would I would marry another one. I
want to love and marry who is gonna be honest and love me. I'm not ready to get
married I'm not rushing into none of that. I mean, unless. All right, so you say that damn girl.
Unless.
By the end of the season,
you'd be like, oh, poor shit got a new ring.
Oh, no!
You would get married again?
I would.
I would get married again.
Why?
Of course.
So just because of him,
I can't get married again.
I can't enjoy the comfort and the security of being,
I love being married.
I love being called somebody's wife.
I love waking up every morning, sitting at your feet,
asking you what you need me to do.
Like I just love that.
That's in me, I'm a Southern girl.
And I think that's probably why Nigerian men
and like men of wealth like me,
because I am very submissive and I'm very loving
and I'm very, even though I'm all that I am bossy,
I can shift that a bit for my man.
Do they have to have wealth?
You know I was thinking about that.
I was thinking about that and I think if I didn't have a daughter, they don't have to
have wealth, they do have to have self.
So you need to be self-sufficient, you need to have your own business about yourself and
you need to be able to come in here if I get pregnant and provide for our child.
But I do, I like this new conversation of like Dolly Parton, oh RIP to her husband who just recently died. But I like her
relationship. Like they were separated a lot of the time, is in space physically, but they kept
their relationship strong. Like I don't feel like I have to live with my husband.
–Charlie Ralph does that too.
–Yeah, Charlie Ralph. And I loved when she told us that.
I don't think it has to be traditional.
I feel like my next relationship will not be traditional.
I wonder what that means in the between times.
It'll be a little bit open.
Oh, you would do an open relationship?
Really?
Not with another female.
So you could go and have another man, but he can't have another woman?
I haven't found one who's going to allow that.
If you know one, let me know.
But no, they don't allow that. who's gonna allow that. If you know one, let me know. But no, they don't allow that.
I just mean as far as like your tradition of him having to be in the house.
I honestly could be in the house with just my baby and be good and then we come and visit my husband.
So you need a break sometimes.
You have enough houses though. I mean you have enough rooms in your house to be able to do that.
So why y'all didn't just do it?
Because I also like to be under people.
That's why I'm so confused because I'm watching you now. I'm so confused.
Yo, I'm like,
this stuff like my man, my man, my man.
So I'm sitting here like, girl.
Jesus Christ.
Portia, ladies and gentlemen,
Real Housewives of Atlanta comes on this Sunday,
8, 7 Central, on the Bible and Peacock.
And we appreciate you for stopping by.
Yes, capital B. Thank you.
Portia Williams, it's the Breakfast Club.
Good morning.
Morning, everybody.
It's DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious,
Charlamagne the guy, we are the Breakfast Club.
It's time for a positive note, what we got?
Positive note is simply this, man.
Be careful what you wish for others,
because it just might get to you, all right?
To wish bad things for somebody else
is actually like looking for something bad to happen to you,
because when you wish bad karma on somebody else,
you bring bad karma on yourself, okay?
You are consuming and bringing in negative vibes
into your life.
Instead, be the person you wish they were.
Be the person who brings only positive thoughts
and good vibes into their own life.
Because being negative yourself
will only bring negative into your life.
Don't poison yourself hoping somebody else will die, alright?
Breakfast club bitches!
You don't finish or y'all done.
I'm Bob Crawford, host of American History Hotline, a different type of podcast. You,
the listener, ask the questions.
Did George Washington really cut down a cherry tree?
Were JFK and Marilyn Monroe having an affair?
And I find the answers.
I'm so glad you asked me this question.
This is such a ridiculous story.

So what happened at Chappaquiddick?
Well, it really depends on who you talk to.
There are many versions of what happened in 1969
when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond.
And left a woman behind to drown.
Chappaquiddick is a story of a tragic death
and how the Kennedy machine took control.
Every week we go behind the headlines
and beyond the drama of America's royal family.

Are you so hard on yourself?
That's the way I was raised.
And the people that were hard on me are not here no more.
So I'm hard on myself.
You're gonna make me cry.
