Starting point is 00:02:52 Hello, who's this? Man, this Blight Mike got a dupe on, man. Dupe. You said Blight Light? Blight, Mike. Blight. Oh, what's happening? Man, what's happening, man?
Starting point is 00:03:03 I want to get off my chest this morning, man. Okay. I'm trying to deadbeat baby mamas, man. They always talk about deadbeat baby daddies. I'm trying to deadbeat baby mamas, man, who don't want to let the daddy be in their son's life because of the relationship they have, man. Yeah, I hear about that a lot, which I think is whack. It's whack and very selfish.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Man, there's more than whack, man. There's a lot of what Sean May say is trauma, man. H hurt people that's right i'm sorry i'm sorry you're going through that but they shouldn't hurt the child but it is what it is they shouldn't hurt the child behind that because that's the only person they hurting in a situation like that by not letting both parents be in their life absolutely hello who's this good morning this is marcia hey marcia get it off your chest mama hi i just want to give a shout out to my son, Trayvon. Today is his 12th birthday. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Happy birthday. How old is he? He just said, she said 12. I didn't hear him say 12. She said it's his 12th birthday. I didn't hear him say 12. Well, happy birthday to Trayvon. Trayvon.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Thank you. All right, mama. Hello, who's this? This is Jennifer. How are you? Good morning. Get it off your chest. Yeah, I'm kind of upset because my boyfriend broke up with me because I took his cell phone.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Why'd you take his cell phone? I don't know. I don't know what happened. I just grabbed the phone and I got in my car and I just drove off. And then at the red light, he was there like, give me my phone. Twerking on him head like, take me. Question, but what do you mean you don't know why you took his cell phone? You know why you took it.
Starting point is 00:04:27 I took it because I just felt like he was not being trustful, like truthful. You just weren't truthful to us. I know, I know. I'm just saying, like, he was always texting and stuff at night, and it's like, why are you, like, who you calling, who you texting? So what'd you find in the phone? Can I ask you a simple question? Exactly. Can I ask you a simple question? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Can I ask you a simple question? Why didn't you just wait till he go to sleep and then go through his phone? Like, why would you snatch it and then drive off? So you had a passcode? Y'all watch too many videos online. You know, you see these videos online with people chasing the girls outside the hospital and all this stupid stuff. Listen, for your phone people...
Starting point is 00:05:00 No, he didn't chase me right away. He didn't even know I took it. He was like, it was sitting there and I grabbed it. I put it in my pocket. We talked and I was like, alright, I'm leaving. I left. And by the time I got to the red light, he was right behind me. I'm like, dang. So you didn't even get to look at it?
Starting point is 00:05:15 No, I didn't. You're just lying because first you just said you found nothing. Now you say you didn't even get to look at it. You're just a liar. I didn't find nothing. I'm like, no, I'm just here. How you found nothing if you didn't even get to look at it, you liar? This is why people go to jail during interrog you found nothing if you ain't even get to look at it you liar that's why people go to jail during the interrogations you know you didn't have stuff right now if you found something would you leave him no okay so this is okay i'm gonna be truthful i took his phone you're going to jail so you did find something what'd you do no the first time i took his phone i found something okay and you stayed yes okay he was texting some girl
Starting point is 00:05:46 talking about they miss each other and that's way more messed up because that's more emotional than i really just the chick didn't come out how you miss her no you don't but you can still miss the boy let me let me ask you this okay so you stayed with him he's still doing the same things he was doing before that made you not trust him so that you wanted to go find out again what he was doing and then what and then he broke up with me he should i think he made the right decision well if you don't trust somebody and you gotta grab their phone it's probably not the best relationship for you to be in and you had his password too i had it the first time the second time i was trying to get into it i ain't find nothing but i could see you know the app on you can see like you can see who called but you really can't get in there So I've seen people calling him, but I'm gonna tell you something
Starting point is 00:06:31 It's why this is why the first thing the police officers tell you is you have the right to remain silent You done told us about five or six different inconsistencies in this story, man I'm not gonna lie. This sounds like a very unpeaceful Relationship before you get locked up. If I was an officer, you'd be going to jail with no bail. Get it off your chest. The Breakfast Club, good morning. The Breakfast Club. Let's go. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. So if you got something on your mind, let it out.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Hello, who's this? It's Kneezy. Okay, Kneezy. Talk to us. Get it off your chest. Yeah, I want to know why you want to try to make you flirt on the radio every morning, man.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Who flirting? I don't flirt with that man. Nobody flirting. Why y'all don't do it behind the scenes, man? Nobody flirting. What are you talking about, bro? If we did it behind the scenes,
Starting point is 00:07:22 that'd be actually gay. And cheating. And cheating on our wives. Huh? It's gay to be doing it on air anymore. No, it's not. You don't want to hear that? You sure? Our kids don't want to hear that.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Hear what? Two men flirting with each other every day. Who flirting with a man? Nobody flirting with you. And both of y'all married. Yes. When did we flirt this morning, bro? Y'all women don't care about that?
Starting point is 00:07:46 When did we flirt this morning? Man, we haven't had breakfast yet. Have you had breakfast this morning? Huh? Yeah, I just got to eat. Yeah. What'd you have? Some sausage?
Starting point is 00:07:53 Little beef sausage? Turkey sausage? How long was the link? Pork sausage. Why'd you take the rest of me? Why'd you take the rest of me? What? What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:08:01 Ask what you had for breakfast. He just asked what you had for breakfast. He asked if you had a sausage or maybe like a hot dog in the morning. We just asked it. Did you have sausage this morning? No, not yet. Not yet. I'm going to have me a nice hard.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Listen, I'm having a nice hard boiled egg for breakfast this morning. You said so where's the meat, so I'll say so where's the meat. You just asked me what I'm having for breakfast. I don't have a problem with it. I think I am going to have some sausage in a little bit. I had heated. I had heated me what I'm having for breakfast. I don't have a problem with it I think I am glass and sausage a little bit As he did we got flirting on the air. Why are you calling up here flirting with us right now? You sound jealous, bro. You have to go kids. No, man. My kids don't listen in the morning But I'm not flirting with no man. Anyway, what about a salad you feel like you want a toy salad?
Starting point is 00:08:40 I'll be happy go kids teachers feel about you playing with another man your kids teachers feel about you I don't know. I gotta ask them but feel about you flirting with another man? How do your kids' teachers feel about you? I don't know. I got to ask them, but I don't flirt with another man. Man, that's sick, man. That's sick for y'all to be doing that every morning. We love you, brother. Love you. Have a great day.
Starting point is 00:08:55 He kissed you. You're not going to kiss him back? I'm found a fish in the rain. Hello. Hello, who's this? Yo what's up This is Tyler calling back Tyler good morning
Starting point is 00:09:11 Calling back For when? Good morning I called in yesterday man Charlamagne cut me off Cause I ain't appreciate his attitude I didn't cut you off How I cut you off?
Starting point is 00:09:20 You cut No no no You cut me off bro Whoever did Red I was up there Trying to get it off my chest. I was having a rough week.
Starting point is 00:09:26 A hell of a week, as you would like to say, Charlamagne. And all I was trying to do was just let the weather know. I was like, all you had to say was, man, I'm glad you're alive, King. That's it. That was not me that cut you off, bro. I don't even control the phone. Go ahead, Tyler. Like I said, right.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Hey, all I'm saying is I got a clothing brand, man, and I'd appreciate some support because I did lose my job a couple weeks ago, and I'm just trying to get my brand off the ground so I can eat out here, you feel me? What's the name of the brand? The brand is called Dingo. Dingo0925. Oh, I remember that.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I know you remember. Everyone knows it, right? He said everybody knows it. A lot of people know it. A lot of people know it. You feel me? But we're going to be worldwide, real strong,
Starting point is 00:10:10 and I would appreciate all support. Our website is dng0925.com. I'd appreciate any and all support, man. For real. I'm just trying to do
Starting point is 00:10:18 my thing out here. Trying to be and start my own legacy and build something for my family. That's all I'm trying to do, man. Yes, sir. Get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:10:26 The Breakfast Club, good morning. The Breakfast Club. If you miss The Breakfast Club, you don't come from my world. It's dangerous. Check out this rewind. Morning, everybody. It's DJ MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:10:43 We got a special guest in the building. The living legend. Master P. Yes, sir. What's up, y'all? The Breakfast Club. We got a special guest in the building. The living legend. Master P. Yes, sir. What's up, y'all? Now, P.I. Senior came on with some sneakers. Now, are those sneakers the Zions? Is that what we doing?
Starting point is 00:10:52 This is the Maniades, man. You know what I'm saying? Zion might have Nike or Adidas, but guess what? I got these for all the court. You got the leopard print. That's the leopard. That's the high-end fashion. Did Zion ever reply for the $20 million deal y'all put out there for him?
Starting point is 00:11:06 You know what? I'm just saying. That's what I'm asking. You know what? That's on him, though. You know what I tell you all the time? You got to make product. We're not Nike.
Starting point is 00:11:13 We don't own none of that stuff. Why we can't do this? And that's what this is about. Us creating a way and an opportunity for us. Now, Essence must have felt amazing for you this year because you guys did the screening for I Got the Hook Up 2 and it sold out. Yes. So what was it like screening that movie there?
Starting point is 00:11:26 Yeah, did he call you? I didn't get a call. I didn't get a call. Dan P. You know who did hit me? We was down there, too. Juju hit me, and she was like, hey, are you in? Y'all know y'all was in fight.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Now, get out y'all feelings, y'all, for real. Get out. Get out y'all feelings. Y'all worth it. Tyler Perry, y'all. For real. I wanted to buy tickets, but it sold out. Let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:11:46 I bumped into Tyler Perry right there. I'm thinking, like, I don't really know, bro. I'm like, man, get out your feelings, dog. Like, I was thinking, like. You had a run-in or something? No, I don't even, like, it's just the spirits wasn't right. You know, like, you from the old, you think now I'm doing movies. I guess maybe like, man, now you're doing movies now or whatever.
Starting point is 00:12:02 But I've been doing movies. Right. So I bump into him and uh I'm thinking he gonna be yeah big brother. I'm proud of you the movie. I got the hook up too You know the big screening was big the whole city showed up, you know It was just like awkward like like you were scared or something like like bro, you know like man i'm happy for you You know, it's enough opportunity for all of us because really really, I tell people all the time, it's really not that much money for us to make in filmmaking because we don't own that.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Right. I heard the speech he said on BET and all that, man. But that's what we talk. Maybe because seven years ago, we talked like, look, man, we just hook up and do something. But then you don't show up. But that's my first time seeing him. So I forgot about all that.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Right. So I'm just like, man, look, I'm thinking it's going to be, you know, like we took the city over, like you said. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was like, I don't know, dog. You didn't invite him. See, he was mad he didn't get invited, too. You know what, dog?
Starting point is 00:12:53 Y'all know y'all could just show up. He know he could just show up. I didn't think that you'd just show up at, though. I'm sure it was packed. It was crazy. To be honest with you, we brought Hollywood to New Orleans. And we did something that is history because this movie is owned by me and Romanyo as a father and son. The star in this film. And also financing.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Like I said, it's only 5%. I mean, you know there's 5% of all the production owned by African-Americans. 95%. That means we don't own nothing. So you see us on all these big films and all these big projects but the real money is in the production you know
Starting point is 00:13:28 even with me I watch them like they don't really want us to own the production part they want us to be in front of the camera I had to really go you know take one I just wanted to check it out
Starting point is 00:13:37 so I took a project like a no limit project even to like a BET I'm like man it was just hard to get it through the system even though I got the money and everything don't matter it was like yeah and I went got another person of another color to go and went right through right I'm like that's crazy that's crazy to me you know and I'm just
Starting point is 00:13:55 like just like you I've seen when you uh when you had Connie on because I talked to Connie too and I'm telling I'll be telling like you know what you really have to get involved in this and really be about to change. Because I see when you ask about the Nipsey Hussle thing, you ain't go too in detail with it. But I like what you said, like, was Nipsey up for that before he passed? And she told you no. You know, and I was like, that was crazy because a humanitarian, you know what? Like, we've been in the community for years, over 20-something years. You know, Snoop Dogg. Y'all know Nipsey, my dog. Likesey my dog like that's my boy but i'm like man give people their flowers while they're
Starting point is 00:14:29 here you don't just get caught up into the hype thing that's why i introduced you as a living legend yeah but you know what you remember uh nipsey daddy was trying to say that why y'all didn't get up to my son while he was here right you know what i'm saying i just think that everybody get caught up whatever's hot instead of doing what's right and that's's my thing with Connie that I'm going to talk to her about. If she want to talk, if not, it's cool. But it's like, you know, you got to be real. You got to be real. You can't do this.
Starting point is 00:14:51 This man deserved a lot of this stuff while he was here. And I just think that for the Humanitarian Award, that was a big thing for, you know what I'm saying? Like last year. You could have got that last year. Yeah. I don't even think they knew who he was last year he got into it with the guy
Starting point is 00:15:06 at the thing they was acting like they ain't know him he slapped him they had him performing the pre-show with YG okay so if that was
Starting point is 00:15:12 me at 50 Cent we wasn't even about to get into the BET Awards this year thank him bye and then his music was crazy
Starting point is 00:15:19 his music was incredible last year the year before that it was the best rap album of the year. I said that numerous times. And guess what? Why you get it this year?
Starting point is 00:15:28 Because that was already passed. The same album. That sold 52,000 copies when he first came out two years ago and now it's gone to a million. So I just feel like, man, us as people, we got to be real. Like you said, we've seen the thing with Tyler Perry talking about ownership. But, man, look, we got to be real with each other. We got to come together. We got to be real like you say we've seen the thing with tyler perry talk about ownership but man look we got to be real with each other we got to come together we got to stop and you know we can't be faking with each other i think maybe i remember i said in the interview one time i i wouldn't uh put no dress on that's the truth i don't care who it is i ain't put no
Starting point is 00:15:59 dress on to make no money that's just me but it's not meaning to nobody so i don't know if people take that the wrong way or whatever that's just me as a man not meaning to nobody so i don't know if people take that the wrong way or whatever that's just me as a man all right we got more when we come back it's the breakfast club galore taking you back right back with the classic rewind it's the breakfast club i thought this was a podcast the breakfast club is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy.
Starting point is 00:16:34 There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tribe owned country.
Starting point is 00:16:50 My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets.
Starting point is 00:17:03 We need help! We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, guys. I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running
Starting point is 00:17:26 Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all it's light-hearted pretty crazy and very fun
Starting point is 00:18:13 listen to post run high on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself and leaning into her dreams. We are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay like grace have grace with yourself you're trying your best and you're gonna figure out the rhythm of this thing alicia
Starting point is 00:19:11 keys like you've never heard her before listen to on purpose with jay shetty on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. because we've got a ghoulishly good lineup ready for you. Let's just say things get a bit extra. We're talking spirits, demons, and the kind of supernatural chaos that'll make your spooky season complete. You know how much I love this time of year. It's the one time I'm actually on trend. So grab your pumpkin spice, dust off that Ouija board, just don't call me unless it's urgent,
Starting point is 00:20:03 and tune in for new episodes every week. Remember, the veils are thin, the stories are spooky, and your favorite ghost host is back and badder than ever. Listen to Haunting on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, y'all? This is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records.
Starting point is 00:20:32 It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand-new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone Bash, bam, another one gone The crack of the bat and another one gone Life through hip-hop. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records, because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to historical records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:21:56 If you miss The Breakfast Club, you don't come from my world. It's dangerous. Check out this rewind. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Master P. Charlamagne?
Starting point is 00:22:09 Now, what about when you own your own stuff the way Tyler does? Because I used to think that way about Tyler, too. But I was like, man, he was putting the dress on because he wanted to, not because somebody made him to. That's a whole different personal decision. I don't care about that. That's what I'm saying. So I feel like we all got our pictures. Like, I got the hookup, too.
Starting point is 00:22:20 I mean, this is a big movie for us. This is a movement. This is not just a movie like they don't own this because you gotta you gotta realize man why it's so important when we do a project like black panther we didn't benefit off of that man like people we look as black people was in the movie we just happened excited but it wasn't us yeah yeah for me so this is even though a movie like this so think about this a movie like I got to hook up to. We did this for the budget.
Starting point is 00:22:47 We did it for, and we did it for millions of dollars. But imagine if we had hundreds of millions of dollars to make a project. How would it look? So this is the growth. This is why this is important because we're coming back into the community, putting money back into the community. But we, it's a process. We got to grow with this, just like I did with music. I just didn't jump straight out it made hundreds of millions of dollars it was a process because the production
Starting point is 00:23:10 has to get bigger and bigger so that's why i was saying we have to support us because this is only one a few ways about to go at you spoke about nipsey he's got a song on the soundtrack and he recorded it two days before his death yeah so uh one one thing about Nipsey, man, he was always a stand-up guy. He's probably one of the most realest guys I've met that if I ask him for something, he gonna send it. He gonna get it done. He gonna go no question, no talk. He looked up to you, though. He used to call his label No Limit of the West.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Yeah, you know what? Let me tell you how I met him. I met him with Lo from Chicago. He moved out there in the Cali. He was 1,500. He hooked us up. Say, man, look, you know, you out in L.A., man. You and Nipsey need to get together.
Starting point is 00:23:57 And when we got to the studio, it was just magic. We just started making songs. I think we made like over 17, 18 songs. Just dropping them. So, you know, we had remixed that that rap song too we had remixed supposed to be me jeezy uh busi and jay-z wow yeah so did that get done it's done it's done so they're probably gonna put that out but that's what i'm saying man these record companies we gotta stop we gotta stop all these people from controlling what we have you know because even right now look all the money they're making off them is his kids really gonna get that or how
Starting point is 00:24:28 long the process how how do how do that take you know because now you're dealing with a state and you're dealing with record companies so that's why i was saying we have to take control because i mean he was with atlantic records at the same time you know so those are the type of things i was trying to show him when he was alive like look man and he was doing it but it's just sad tragedy to where you know you come from somewhere and you die in that same hood and that's my thing to educate the next generation that we have to figure out how can we you know educate ourselves even about the environments that we're in because it's about putting putting things in our community but it's also about surviving and living to be able to be there to make sure. I mean, his kids, his girl, his mom, his dad.
Starting point is 00:25:09 I mean, this is a tragedy for them, man. This guy should still be here today. You told Page Six you would get more respect if you were a white businessman. You've been speaking on that. Yeah, you know what the sad thing about it? I was saying that for like even the athletes and entertainers like we'll talk we don't want to give us what we do because our skin color and what you said or either like like what we was talking about when we talked about kodak we'll give this guy 10 or 15 percent or even 20
Starting point is 00:25:37 percent we're not even thinking about it but with us we gotta oh well what what this for and i mean i mean if i'm gonna go get you a deal, I deserve a percentage. That's just business. Yeah, you don't even ask the white man no questions. Nothing. Just like right now, I mean, just like you said, I think even with him, I think after he gets out of jail this time, he's going to wake up and see that these lawyers are robbing him.
Starting point is 00:25:59 They are taking his money. I mean, he even posted up. It's like, so those are the type of things. But you know the lawyer going to come back and say back and say well man he was talking about the lip now man that man know after a while you will see sometime god gonna put you through something you're gonna see maybe you at a stage in your life where you don't want to see that but you will eventually grow up and start saying man well how much this car because they're not doing it for free any of those lawyers i mean whether nba young boy in jail whoever in jail right now those lawyers are doing it for free any of those lawyers i mean whether nba young boy in jail whoever in
Starting point is 00:26:25 jail right now those lawyers are not working for free they're gonna get their money off top they're gonna suck every quarter you got until you don't have them no more then they're gonna forget about you well i got the hookup too comes out july 12th in theaters definitely go check it out purchase your tickets if it's not in your area buy tickets anyway and support and you said they can stream it as well right yeah go to itunes and uh you can download it from there pre-order it now all right well it's master p we appreciate you for joining us yes sir it's the breakfast club good morning taking you back right back with the classic rewind it's the breakfast club i thought this was a podcast call 800-585-1051 to join into the discussion with the breakfast club
Starting point is 00:27:06 talk about it morning everybody it's dj envy angela yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club now if you're just joining us we're talking about uh you saying that male enhancements have been going up from uh plastic surgeons right yes they're getting their abs done and a little lipo and they're also getting penis enlargements with fillers that has to be tough though as a guy like what can you really do right are you there god it's me i would like a bigger penis and nothing happens and so i must i must i must increase my thrust but let's go to the phone lines 800-585-1051 hello who's this melanie it's miss melanie hi peace miss melanie how are you i'm good how are you blessed black and highly favored amen said he wanted to increase his penis size would you
Starting point is 00:27:54 get that for him maybe for christmas absolutely what made you say that with no hesitation? She waiting for Christmas right now. Absolutely. I mean, I don't have a man currently, but I've had men in the past that I felt like they could have benefited from some enhancement. Like they were perfect in all other areas, but they lacked there. And I just feel like the same way a man is quick to be like, here, babe, go get your BBL and they'll pay for it. A woman should be able to say that, too, or suggest that he gets enhanced without him feeling offended. Because a lot of times they get offended. And it's like there's different options for you to explore for yourself.
Starting point is 00:28:40 I got to hurt. You tell a man he need a penis enhancement. He don't got the money for it. Oh, my God. Right. He's like, he don't got the money for it Oh my god He's like well you gonna pay for it And she's like yes Because I will be benefiting from it Thank you very much
Starting point is 00:28:53 What about when you break up with him Yep I might have to have some kind of agreement Signed So I don't I mean if I'm at the point where I will pay for a man's enhancement, my relationship better be pretty solid. Imagine a man leaving you to go with another girl, and you have to run down on the other girl and say,
Starting point is 00:29:16 I bought that D. I paid for those inches. Wow. She's like, it's mine now. Let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? It's your boy, Willie D, man. Willie. What's like, it's mine now. Let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? It's your boy, Willie D, man. Willie.
Starting point is 00:29:27 Willie D. What's up, Willie D? He's picking a witch. Nah, nah, that don't actually sound crazy, dog. I actually just watched a video the other day of some dude talking about it on some other podcast. And I was just like, man, just love yourself, man. Like, for real, for real. You wouldn't get nothing?
Starting point is 00:29:45 You wouldn't get no abs done, no nothing? Nah, dog, nah. I mean, you got to maintain it. You know what I'm saying? So it's not even just, like, getting it done. You know what I'm saying? Because, I mean, if you get it done, then you ain't going to work out every day
Starting point is 00:29:56 and, you know, do your thing for real. Eat healthy. You know what I'm saying? All that stuff. I mean, it's going to be pointless. That's real. True. I guess it's a good jump start.
Starting point is 00:30:06 And I mean, like, hello, who's this? crazy like you said what's your name not mine hello who's this hey good morning good morning what's your name bro my name is real one what's up real one now if you had the opportunity would you would you add some interest to your penis real one um nah i wouldn't do it i wouldn't add any inches or nothing like that like i'm pretty good where i'm at you sure as far as like the yeah i'm definitely sure i'm definitely you say that till you get a gift certificate for five free inches nah because like what if you start to mess with how you feel like i can't feel it anymore like it won't make any sense that's true and there's a nerve and then i like exactly like i don't think it's worth it i don't think it's worth it at all and then uh the whole ad thing it don't make any sense. Right. That's true. Because of nerve endings. And then I like, exactly, like,
Starting point is 00:30:45 I don't think it's worth it. I don't think it's worth it at all. And then the whole ad thing, it don't make no sense either because if you're not eating right, you're gonna, you're gonna lose it anyway. That's right.
Starting point is 00:30:54 If you keep eating McDonald's and everything, it don't make no sense. Make no sense whatsoever. You're not gonna change your habits and your lifestyle after you get there. It's pointless.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Yeah, you waste the money. All right. Thank you. Okay, so it's a hard no for you. Let's go to call the last one hello who's this yo it's dray calling from out of petersburg for game okay dray your girl just called and she said that she she thinks that you need a couple of inches so would you do it uh i'm not doing that i'm not doing that you
Starting point is 00:31:23 gotta work with what you got man you gotta to work with what you got, man. You got to be good with what you got. I will say women always get their tummy tucked and a couple inches cut off, and they ain't doing the work we do in the gym, so I would do that. But as far as with my manhood, I'm just going to be the best with what I got. Okay. All right. You're going to have some abs with a little penis. Everybody not blessed down there. Okay. All right. You're going to have some abs with a little penis.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Everybody not blessed down there. Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. Okay. Everybody not blessed. Okay for him. You're good at other things, right?
Starting point is 00:31:56 You're good at other things. I'm great at everything. You know what's sad about this, man? You know how they say if you appreciate what you got, you will get blessed with more? That doesn't apply to penis us. Not at all. Goodness gracious. What's the moral of the story?
Starting point is 00:32:09 I just said it. That's it? And you sounded really sad saying it. You definitely did. I thank God for it all. All right. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:32:24 The Breakfast Club. That's right. And it all. All right. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. That's right. And it wasn't my ass. It was a mold of a ass. Yes. I thought it was a mold of your actual. No, no. My shit ain't that fat.
Starting point is 00:32:36 And then what about when they touch each other and stuff? That's never happened. We don't touch each other. We don't touch each other. I've never seen them touch each other. That hasn't happened. No. You want to tell me something I need to know?
Starting point is 00:32:44 Well, no. They like rub up, brush against each other. If they're walking out the door or something. That's not true. They threaten to rub up touch each other. I've never seen them touch each other. That hasn't happened. No. You want to tell me something I need to know? Well, no. They like rub up, brush against each other. If they're walking out the door or something, they go in there. We threaten to rub up against each other. We don't ever do it. They go in the revolving door together. That happened one time by accident. Explain that.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Now I need answers. It was stupid. I don't even know how that happened. It was really stupid. It was really dumb. That had to be very intentional. No, it wasn't. I don't even know how it happened.
Starting point is 00:33:06 One is in, and then one makes his way in. The revolving door together walking around was so stupid and dumb. All we did was giggle because it was so stupid. We just had to giggle our way through it. You just added insult to injury. You're sitting there in the one slot giggling together. It's so stupid. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:33:24 All right. Anyway, back to the matter at hand. I don't lie. Real life, real love. What is that magic that holds y'all together, you think? How would you describe it? You know, whenever I find that people come to our house or are around us, I think they're kind of surprised at how much fun we have together.
Starting point is 00:33:43 I find him to be very charming and charismatic and one of the things that I love most about him is his boyish nature so we really have a lot of fun together and we always have since we first met the first week we spent together I thought to myself he's a lot of fun he's he's like a friend you know and that's part of the magic you knew that this was the person you spend the rest of your life with? After about two weeks of knowing him, yes. Wow. But he knew before y'all even spent a day together.
Starting point is 00:34:10 I did. Explain, before we even spent a day together? Well, when I first seen you, I mean, I wrote in the book that I thought you were beautiful and amazing, and the first time I saw you, you were actually running track, and for people that don't know you know track she's playing track You know you had you know big double D's and I would stop basically stalker outside and just watch her run track and watch her
Starting point is 00:34:37 Breast bottle like that word. Don't say stalk. He wasn't stalking Actually Stalking and I would see him sitting with his friends in this bright blue Con Edison van. Because that's what his parents bought him to transfer his DJ equipment from Sweet 16 to Sweet 16. Because that's what he was DJing at the time. I just had a Con Edison van. It was cheap back then. And I would see it parked behind the fence.
Starting point is 00:35:03 I'm thinking to myself, to myself why is this van there every day at track practice is the power out of the van yo that is crazy yes it was bright blue he wasn't low he was not low and he was just sitting in the van
Starting point is 00:35:21 and then one day he emerged actually babe do you remember one day he emerged from the van and approached me and kicked it. And I was like, oh, so you're that weirdo. That's in the van. Which all were both kids. Yes. She was 15.
Starting point is 00:35:34 I was 16. We went to the same high school. So, Embi, you say that you knew that she was going to be your wife right away. You think it was before y'all even spoke? When you were just stalking her? No, when we actually spoke and, you know, I found out how, you know, beautiful she was inside and outside. And how smart she was and caring. And she was just that. She was the one.
Starting point is 00:35:54 She was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life. And the most precious thing. So I was like, this is going to be my wife. I want people to get the book, but I do want, you know, to explain. How do you keep reinventing the relationship? When you start that young, now Envy's 50-something, you know what I mean? You're much, much younger, but how do you keep reinventing? I think that that's part of the magic.
Starting point is 00:36:18 We don't have to try. We don't intentionally. We do a lot of things intentionally and deliberately, but we don't intentionally reimagine the relationship and act on that. The only thing that I would say that we're good about is keeping it sexy and making sure that that part of our relationship doesn't get too monotonous and doesn't get stale. So we have a lot of fun in that space, but we don't have to think like god how am i gonna stop being bored of you or how am i gonna get to a point where you don't annoy me anymore he legitimately does not annoy me i look forward to his phone calls every day and we probably speak on the phone about maybe eight or nine ten times a day because he's away a lot you know so he calls me
Starting point is 00:37:01 on his way to the breakfast club he calls me on his way to the breakfast club. He calls me on his way home from the breakfast club. He calls me if something happens. He calls me incessantly. I'm never like, oh, you again. I'm like, oh, him again. You know? It's just that feeling that I've always had that no matter what ups or downs we were going through, that never left me. Now, he told us a story about
Starting point is 00:37:19 the cowboy outfit that he wears. He told you about that? Yeah. Wait, wait, wait. The cowboy outfit in college? With the assless chaps? Yeah. Wait, wait, wait. The cowboy outfit in college? With the assless chaps. There's no assless chaps. They were. Yeah, you told us about that. Hold on, wait, Rashawn,
Starting point is 00:37:31 did you actually tell him about that? Like on air or in private? I forgot I told y'all about that. He did. Because if it was in private, this is a whole double cross. Yeah. Right now.
Starting point is 00:37:39 He told us he dressed up as a cowboy and he had the... Why are you looking at me like that? Hold on. Because I remember that day. Okay. Because I remember that day. Okay. Because I remember that day because after he told the story, he goes... And I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:37:49 He did. When we were in college, yeah, we went through a stage where we were doing like a lot of... Role playing. Role playing. Yeah. And one night, I dared him to be a cowboy. So we went and got the cowboy outfit. Wow.
Starting point is 00:38:03 He had like the big brown hat and then he had like the little holsters and everything. And babe, do you remember I took pictures? Where are those?
Starting point is 00:38:11 Are they in the book? He, about maybe three years after, he made me physically burn them on the grill. Wow. He put them on the grill
Starting point is 00:38:20 and told me I had to light it. Yeah, they don't exist anymore. Don't you wish you still had that in me? No. But y'all talk about role play in the book. You say he likes to put on the
Starting point is 00:38:26 Roc Nation paper playing hat, and he goes, what's my name? And he wants you to say Jigga? I didn't contribute to that chapter. Okay. That wasn't my work. No, I didn't do that. No, okay. So wait, so he wasn't lying. They were assless chaps. Yeah, yeah. He had a whole, it was a whole thing. I just pulled the you on you, Gia. He did not tell us that.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Damn it, Tehosi! Get my book and you will learn a slew of tactics, tricks, and techniques on how to get what you want out of life. Okay. It was a holster, by the way. They were holsters. Yeah, it was a holster. What were some other dress-up things you guys did? Right! It was more so
Starting point is 00:39:00 me dressing up. He was just like the recipient of that. That was a one little... And that's why it was a dare because it was kind of supposed to be a joke, but he never really dressed up. One time I was a nurse and he was a doctor. Did you really burn the pictures? I really did. Really? In front of him. Wow.
Starting point is 00:39:15 You didn't have copy. I would have kept those. Put those in the safe. I had the negatives. See, I wasn't going to share that. If anything ever goes left in our relationship, I will ruin his entire reputation. Or he might never be able to work again. And might crush him over to a new audience. Goodness gracious.
Starting point is 00:39:34 All right, we got more with my wife, Gia Casey. When we come back, we're talking our new book that's out right now, Real Life, Real Love, so don't go anywhere. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club we got a special guest still in the building
Starting point is 00:39:50 my wife gia casey we're talking about our new book real life real love life lessons on joy pain and the magic that holds us together you could uh pick it up today or you can get it on audible on kindle or wherever you get your books yee How was it for both of you writing this book together? Some of it was fun. It was nice to be creative and get your thoughts down on paper. It was work. But a lot of it was difficult. I'm a very open person.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Rashawn, I think, had a difficult time because he had to relive a lot of the negative things that transpired in our relationship um and he can tend to be surface in some respects where you ask him a question he gives you an answer i'm a lot more of an in-depth person you know i think critically about things and when we would go over these chapters that he's assigned to write i would ask him questions like okay you can't just answer it with a yes or a no or a simple blanket. Like one question would mean 10 more questions to really get to the meat. And, you know, I had to keep reiterating, we're writing this book so that people have
Starting point is 00:40:54 something tangible, a reference point for them to make changes in their lives if necessary, or to recognize that the person that you're with needs to make changes in their lives. And it was a journey. It was was a journey but I think it was difficult didn't know it was difficult I had to relive a lot of the f-boy ish I put you through and you don't you forget about a lot of it because you don't have to relive it but then when you start no it's like, we don't realize how much we do hurt our women. Is that true, though? Yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 00:41:30 I don't think we realize how deep that goes. That sounds like an okey-doke to me. No, I don't think we... Until you actually sit down and have those, you know, uncomfortable conversations, you don't realize how much you affected your woman. If your wife cheated on you and told you That she would have no idea How much that it stood to hurt you Would that make sense to you?
Starting point is 00:41:50 Probably not But I mean Men don't make sense You believe that You believe that you're born inherently With like a deficit Not a deficit But I just don't think
Starting point is 00:41:59 A common sense I don't think we're thinking about it You know what I mean? Like that's the sad part It's selfish And that's what keeps you From doing it in the future You know what I mean? Like, that's the sad part. It's selfish. And that's what keeps you from doing it in the future.
Starting point is 00:42:07 You know what I mean? Because you do not want to hurt the woman that you love. And it's so crazy because I saw that with my pops. Like, I saw the pain that that caused my mom with his infidelity.
Starting point is 00:42:16 So in my mind, I was like, damn, I'm about to make the same mistake. So I think it is difficult when you got to relive it because you don't want to talk about it
Starting point is 00:42:22 because we don't want to trigger you. You know, some people feel... I don't get triggered though damn what that scared me just now i'm about to call security no once i got to a point and it was a process once i got to a point where I accepted that it was my job to move on because I decided to forgive him. And because he had done all of the work and then some to regain my trust, to earn grace from me. I got to a point where I no longer wanted to punish. And I didn't have that you to hurt.
Starting point is 00:43:07 And anytime that I felt any type of way, I made sure that he felt some type of way. So once I learned how to forgive, and that was a process because I wasn't necessarily a forgiving person before everything was very black and white to me, not very much gray. but once I learned and I understood that that's what was expected from me of God I had to commit to that and do my best to live up to what forgiveness meant and that's what set me free because when you forgive you don't forgive to ease the burden from the other person you forgive to ease the burden from you that's's real. What was the work you guys did together? Like you had to work on forgiveness. And when you said, okay, I'm going to, you know, have to move on from this. But what was the work that he did that let you know, okay, he's serious.
Starting point is 00:43:56 And, you know, I can finally just say, I'm not getting triggered anymore. I'm going to let this go. One of the first things was I realized that he understood the impact of what had happened, what he did. He understood it. He didn't just accept it and was accountable for it, but he actually understood. He would do things that a lot of men wouldn't do. He would sit there through those eight-hour conversations locked in a room. He answered every question that I had. And I had a lot of questions.
Starting point is 00:44:30 And he answered them all truthfully. And, you know, when you ask somebody a question, you can tell by their answer because, I mean, the answers weren't pretty. They weren't things that I would have wanted to hear.
Starting point is 00:44:43 He went through all of the separation, as as I call it and he did it until because a lot of guys when they mess up and I mean a lot of them have told me I have friends and that have gone through it it's like listen I did it I apologize I said I was never gonna do it again I mean that ish right but it's like every day I'm being punished i'm being punished i'm being reminded it's like let it go i apologize like what more do you want from me blood he never took that approach with me it was the until until you are good until you are healed if i have to be a punching bag i will be that if i have to be a doormat, I will be that. I will do anything that it makes to survive this because I cannot be without you. And he proved it every single day.
Starting point is 00:45:30 It was as though, and he was like this before, but it was even more so during this time. It was as though he communicated to me that the only thing that he wanted was to make me happy. And that's pretty much how he lives his life. He lives his life every day waking up thinking like damn how can i make his life easier today how can i make gia happier today but to answer your question it was the until it was the indefinite and it was the willingness to do any and everything to earn what he lost back and was there ever a question in your mind i know there was a point when you thought no matter what i do she's never gonna take me back was there
Starting point is 00:46:05 ever a time when you were like i'm gonna come over there and hug you i'm just letting you know you better hold them tears i'm gonna hug the out of you from the back if you cry in front of your wife but yes catch that little feel at that point at that point i just you know i didn't know what was gonna happen but i was like i have to be honest to at least get my friend back. You know, and at that point, you know, I didn't know what Gia was going to do. I thought it was a wrap. But I was like, I still wanted my friend. I still wanted somebody I can talk to.
Starting point is 00:46:34 You know, I still wanted a relationship with her that we can bounce. Like this, she's all I knew since I was 16. So I still wanted my friend back. And she's Jamaican. That could have been forever beef. But, you know, it's interesting that you didn't kick him out of the house you were still polite to him you still wanted to maintain a co-parenting friendship I feel like that hurts more when you're like we're not having sex and I might end up with somebody else one day but you know we're cool that hurts
Starting point is 00:47:01 more I think sometimes than just completely like being nasty to somebody and cutting them off. Yes. Well, when I found out divorce was imminent, it was never a question. I was raised by a very strong mother who taught me that if a man ever disrespects you to that degree, then you walk. So it didn't matter how much I loved Rashawn and how much I would have missed him. It didn't matter if I cried every night. It did not matter one
Starting point is 00:47:31 iota how I felt. The only thing that was important to me was that I operated with my head and not my heart and that I did what I always said that I was going to do. So when I found out when it was confirmed for me, and you can read the book and see the entire story.
Starting point is 00:47:51 But when he confirmed it, we were in a parking lot. And when I drove away from that parking lot, it was a few days before Christmas. And his mother was at the house helping me decorate because we were hosting that year. But I walked into the house and I told her, I said, Christmas is canceled and she said oh she said christmas is canceled and i said well i just found out that rashaun cheated on me and we're getting a divorce so
Starting point is 00:48:16 there's not gonna be any christmas this year um at least i'm not hosting yo it's wild that people actually cancel christmas i thought that was just a figure of speech. No. No. If this shit happened, we canceling Christmas. I cancel Christmas. You cancel Christmas. Yeah. Cancel Christmas. Well, in the sense of us hosting, I wasn't going to cancel it for our children, but, you know, we didn't have to decorate for 30 people to come over.
Starting point is 00:48:37 And my lovely mother-in-law, hi mama, she defended her beautiful son with everything that she could because bitch is lying. Pretty much. And when she said something to that effect, I said, but for the fact that he just told me that it was true. And he came home maybe 20 or 30 minutes later. And it was a whole thing. Right. But I was adamant that we were getting a divorce. I contacted an attorney, paid an attorney. It was decided. But thankfully, there were a whole host of things that happened that that convinced me that God had other plans. All right. Well, don't move. We got more with Guy and Casey.
Starting point is 00:49:26 We're talking our new book, Real Life, Real Love. Let's get into a Mary J. Blige joint. Here's Real Love. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel.
Starting point is 00:49:51 I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capriburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. Why can't I create my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Oh, my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan.

As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going.
Starting point is 00:52:06 This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best. And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing.
Starting point is 00:52:22 Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's just say things get a bit extra. We're talking spirits, demons, and the kind of supernatural chaos that'll make your spooky season complete. You know how much I love this time of year. Starting point is 00:53:12 just don't call me unless it's urgent, and tune in for new episodes every week. Remember, the veils are thin, the stories are spooky, and your favorite ghost host is back and badder than ever. Listen to Haunting on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So y'all, this is Questlove and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records,
Starting point is 00:53:56 Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip hop. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. No, I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was called a woman. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy envy angela yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club we're still kicking in with guia casey we're here talking about our new book real life real love charlamagne what did god say to you you know i wasn't raised with this um deeply instilled faith where i felt as though I knew God. And I lived differently because I didn't know God in that way. So when God revealed himself to me, and he may have tried for years, you see, but I didn't speak his language. I would have never been able to interpret God trying to reach out to me. So I really believe that this happened so that me particularly not
Starting point is 00:55:46 even rashaun so that i could be humbled when god spoke he spoke through other people and when he found when i found out what happened it's funny we were being approached for reality shows at the time and when he took someone's terrible advice to apologize to me on the radio, they make our personal woes private. Yeah, our personal woes public. I didn't know, though. I didn't know what he was going through. He'd be laying on the floor. I didn't know what he'd be like out of.
Starting point is 00:56:27 I'm like, yo, what the fuck is your problem? I didn't know what it was. So as I'm prodding him, like what the hell is going on? I didn't know that was coming. Oh, okay. Yeah, I didn't know that. So when he apologized, you didn't know what he was apologizing for? No, he would literally come in here and be like laid out on the floor in the fetal position the whole show.
Starting point is 00:56:44 Like he would not be here with us. He wouldn't be present. And I just knew something was wrong. You should call him out of the floor in the fetal position the whole show like he would not be here with us he wouldn't be present and i just knew something was wrong so i'm like so no i was like when he gets on the air i'm gonna ask him on the air what the is his problem because i was tired of asking him behind the scenes and so i asked him on the air i didn't know that was coming though it's a terrible idea but maybe it was the same dose of common sense that you guys are talking about men seem to be born with Men think differently. Men think differently. Like that's a grand gesture or something. Yes. But when it was made public, one of my best friends, his name is Rashid.
Starting point is 00:57:13 He's the husband of my other best friend. Her name is Sasha. He called to see if what he had heard was true because he thought that maybe it was just something being drummed up because we're supposed to be on a reality show or something like that and when he called i said no everything that you heard is absolutely true it's it's a terrible story um as you said you know roshan was circling the drain at that time and rashid decided to come to new york from california from California because he lives in LA. But we had a very horrible event happen at our home and you can read about it in the book.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Rashi didn't like me. He always thought our relationship was toxic. He thought I was too controlling, which I was at times. So he didn't like me. The fact that he flew in to try to save this relationship meant a lot because he already didn't like me. I thought you said Tyrese saved the relationship. That's coming. He flew in to try to save this relationship meant a lot because he already didn't like me.
Starting point is 00:58:06 I thought you said Tyrese saved the relationship. That's coming. That was the sign. We're telling too much. Well, what happened was he flew in and I didn't want him there because our marriage was ending and I just wanted to be by myself. But he insisted. He said, I'm flying into Newark International Airport at such and such a time. Come get me.
Starting point is 00:58:26 I went and I got him. And that was the start of the biggest change that we needed to go through. He came to our house and I said, why are you here? And he said, God sent me here. I said, of all people, you, you're the only person in our lives that didn't champion our marriage. You're the only one that ever told me that maybe he's not the right person for me. Why you? He said, Gia, I don't know. I've been praying since I got off the phone with you after that terrible thing happened. And I walked into my boss's office, told him I had to take a leave of absence, went home, packed a bag and got on a plane and headed here. And it's only through the assignment of God.
Starting point is 00:59:07 God spoke to me. I said, so what does that mean? Like, are you hearing voices? Like, what do you mean God spoke to you? And he said to me, when God speaks to you, it's as though he puts an overwhelming feeling on your heart. And when he tells you to do something, you don't ask any questions. You just do it.
Starting point is 00:59:24 I said, okay, well, basically, I'm going to have to wrap my mind around that. Because I didn't have the tools to really understand that. And he stayed with us for about maybe 10, 12 days. And he taught us a lot about God and faith and spirituality and what his assignment was. And he brought in his pastor. Her name was Sister Nancy. She had the same feedback from God when she prayed. And this was all new to me.
Starting point is 00:59:52 And I was actually very angry because now I have people in my life that I respect and love that are telling me that I have to stay in a relationship that I'm adamant on getting out of. And it was very, very heavy. I can't describe to you how heavy it was and how insistent he was in his assurance of what God communicated to him. And in the fast forward, Tyrese, same thing. I didn't know, you know, we knew Tyrese coming up here doing interviews, but I didn't know Tyrese had to have his number. He didn't have a new song.
Starting point is 01:00:20 But when he heard me on the radio that day, called and and wanted to speak to Gia and you can read in the book because he got us together but he said the exact same thing like Tyrese and Rashid was speaking to each other and it was kind of like those two were the ones to really save my marriage and they didn't know each other and Gia you had asked for a sign well that was the thing because I was so angered by what I was hearing like oh I was a victim being cheated on now I'm being victimized again by God telling me that I have to stay in a relationship, that I'm adamant about leaving. I don't understand this. And I'm not a big crier, but one day I was taking a shower and I began to cry.
Starting point is 01:00:58 And I began to pray in the way that I was learning how to pray. And I asked God for a sign that I can interpret for myself. So at least it would feel as though I was making my own decision and a decision wasn't being made for me. So I damn near begged for a sign. And then shortly after, Tyrese called Rashawn and asked for him to set something up. And we went to Philippe Chow's.
Starting point is 01:01:22 He came in with a backup singer and a guitarist. He performed Stay just for Rashawn and I. Then he sat down for about four hours and we had a conversation. And he tried to explain to me how a man can love you and still cheat at the same time, because I didn't really understand that. But at the end of the conversation, I asked him, I said, you know, why are you here? You don't even know if I'm a good person. You don't know if this relationship is even worth salvaging. Why would you do that? You didn't know Rashawn. You have no dog in this fight. You have nothing to gain or lose. You're supposed to be at a wedding somewhere else. You changed your flights to be here. Why? He said, God sent me here to do this. I said, what do you mean God sent you here to do this? He said,
Starting point is 01:02:05 God sent me. I said, are you hearing voices? He said no. And then he reiterated verbatim exactly what Rashid said to me in my kitchen that day. And I had to ask Tyrese, I said, is that like in the Bible? Is that what you just said? Is that like a thing that people know? And he said, no, I'm just telling you how I feel. Like, what do you mean? At that like a thing that people know and he said no I'm just telling you how I feel like what do you mean at that moment I just like threw my hands up and I said like okay and I looked at Rashawn and I said I forgive you I don't know what that means I will work on this with you I don't know how long that will take I will do what I'm now believing is required of me, but we're going to be
Starting point is 01:02:48 in for a ride because I'm not really there, but I can commit to you in this moment because there is not that much coincidence in the world for what just happened. Thank you, God. Yes. I'm sorry, Gia. I'm sorry to my wife, too. I just feel like apologizing.
Starting point is 01:03:04 This is a trigger conversation. I just feel like apologizing. I'm sorry, Gia. I'm sorry to my wife, too. I just feel like apologizing. This is a trigger conversation. I just feel like apologizing. I'm sorry to all women. All right, we got more with my wife, Gia Casey. When we come back, we're talking our new book that's out right now, Real Life, Real Love. So don't go anywhere. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:03:17 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We got a special guest still in the building, my wife, Gia Casey. We're talking about our new book, Real Life, Real Love, Life Lessons on Joy, Pain, and the Magic That Holds Us Together. You could pick it up today or you can get it on Audible or Kindle or wherever you get your books.
Starting point is 01:03:37 Yee. Envy, let me ask you, because, you know, for women, we always are like, and like you said, Tyrese was having a conversation, how a man can't cheat on you, but still love you. Yeah. But why? Like, you know, that's something that for women, we always want to know. And I'm sure you had so many conversations.
Starting point is 01:03:54 I still don't like his answer. I don't necessarily agree with what Tyrese said. I really feel that until you know the definition of what love really means. I think a lot of times people just say, I love you. And oh, i love you and oh it's oh i love you but until you understand the definition of what love means then you realize i don't if i love somebody like i say you don't want to hurt them you don't want to cheat on them you don't want to disrespect them you don't want to have them looking crazy because you love that person and i don't think i knew the definition of love but when i figured that definition of
Starting point is 01:04:21 what love is and what guia meant to me you know know, you realize I don't want to hurt her. I don't want to see her cry. I don't want to see her feel a way. I don't want to disrespect her. I don't want to be controlling. I don't want to be any of those things. And when you realize what that definition is, your outlook of life changes. I agree with you.
Starting point is 01:04:35 And I'll add on because I've explored this in therapy. When you say you can cheat and still love a person, you might, but you don't really love yourself. I think a lot of times, not a lot of times, all the time, men cheat for ego. Like I said, it's wounded ego. It's something that we're lacking. It has nothing to do with our wives, nothing to do with our girlfriends. It's something that we feel like we're lacking for whatever reason. And that's what we go and do.
Starting point is 01:04:59 It's literally just to feed our ego. Nothing more, nothing less. Do you think women cheat for the same reason as men or you think it's different? Like when women cheat, you think they cheat for different reasons? I think women also cheat for ego. Who doesn't like to have the attention of the opposite
Starting point is 01:05:16 sex? You know, especially when you are at a deficit and you do have holes and you need those holes filled. And most people have slight holes. You know, not that you're out there thirsty for the attention of the opposite sex. But even if it's of the same sex, when someone pays you a compliment, like, it's nice to be wanted is essentially what I'm saying. So for women, yeah, I mean, I think that if you're with someone and you cheat, I think a big part of it is ego. But then,
Starting point is 01:05:45 you know, you'll have people that say that they cheat because the person at home isn't doing what they're supposed to do, you know, and we have a son, Logan, he's 18. So he's starting to date seriously and whatnot now. And I had a conversation with him the other day. And I said, Listen, if you commit to a girl, and you make her your girlfriend, one thing I do not want you to do is cheat. Do not come to me and tell me that you guys broke up because you cheated on her because I've raised you better than that. If you decide that you want something else or she's not satisfying whatever needs you have, break up with her and move on to the next. And if within a week you feel the same way about that girl, break up with her and move on to the next and if within a week you feel the same way about that girl break up with her and move on to the next do not cheat because you're sacrificing
Starting point is 01:06:27 your own integrity when you do that and that's pretty much a sign of really not loving yourself when you love yourself you want to be self-actualized you want to be your best self you want to reach your highest potential you want to be a kind a good person and you owe that to yourself You don't necessarily owe it to the other person. You owe it to yourself to do those things. And that's what I'm trying to instill in him as my oldest male child. One of the biggest things I think that came out of this was all the work that he did do on himself. And he was suicidal at a point.
Starting point is 01:07:00 We know that, right? I don't think that was all because of what was going on with you. I think it was, like I said, it was other things that he was dealing with inside of him that probably got him to that point. Yes, we would have to ask him because we've never had a conversation of it being about anything besides the threat of losing our relationship. I would say this. I would say, you know, I used to look at people who committed suicide as so often suck. Like that's because that's what society made you think. Until I got into that predicament where I felt like my life.
Starting point is 01:07:31 Well, everybody's life around me would be better if I wasn't here and I couldn't shake it. And majority of it was losing my wife, losing my family, losing the thing that I knew and that I love. And I really feel like i didn't want to be there and and i guess it was everything else that we said like the insecurities that made me do it the insecurities around me and i just didn't know who i was as a person oh that's powerful um that's the big what i will say during all of that in all those conversations and all those late night talks and with praying, you feel like you realize who you are as a person.
Starting point is 01:08:07 And once you figure that out, you figure out who you want to be, who you want to, who you want to live like, and you don't care about anything else. You know, at one time I used to care what people thought. Now I don't care.
Starting point is 01:08:16 As long as my wife and my family's happy, everything else is just white noise behind it. So think about how much stronger you guys are as individuals and your marriage is so much stronger after everything you've been through oh yeah oh yeah yeah if he said something powerful too because this business this business will have you living a lie because we're characters right so we create these characters that kind of protect the rashaan and protect the lenard and we're going we go home and we one way but then we out in the street being another way but you can't do both eventually that negative is gonna catch up yeah so that's that's why i think he was going through like not only just the threat of losing you but just like who am i was that hard for you um having this dual
Starting point is 01:08:55 personality almost absolutely because i mean like nothing's better now than to not care what people think you know i would have to freedom if freedom i would have to think about what i was saying on the radio and how it would affect me how people would look at me i would have to think about this or think about that instead of just being free and say hey it is what it is take it how you like it if you like me you like me if you love me you love me if you hate me you hate me and once i got to that that place life became a whole lot better see a lot of gems in this book you guys i was thoroughly entertaining like i said you look stressed i'm good it's just it's i thought he's been nervous all morning before you got here the book is out today go get it man make sure you pick it up real life real love get it today
Starting point is 01:09:37 life lessons on joy pain and the magic that holds us together that's right amazon barnes and nobles wherever you buy books your local bookstores please pick it up today and when you do read it or you read it please what we want you to do is uh we want you to tell us what you think about the book whether it's a 30 second video tag here and now we want to repost it whether you love it whether you hate it we're going to repost all of them because we'd love to get you guys's feedback and i think that y'all gonna help a lot of couples and it's clear that y'all two are meant to be with each other you know what i'm saying one of my favorite chapters is called the new deal and it's pretty much about reparations that the offender has to make after offending their partner um and it's those things that will help to let to signal to your partner that you just may be worthy of
Starting point is 01:10:22 forgiveness and being extended grace. So what are those reparations? The first thing people will say is, oh, that's why he does the 12 days of Christmas. You know, that's right. A lot of people do say that. We did that before. But you know what's funny?
Starting point is 01:10:35 And that's the funny thing. We've always done 12 days of Christmas. We just never made it public. And it's not the type of thing that at first I ever wanted to make public because it is grand. But I decided to start posting it because it's not about the material items that he gives me for Christmas. It's about the intention behind it. It's about the thought. You know, he starts shopping almost a year in advance for that.
Starting point is 01:11:06 And every gift comes with something special. A little note, a little treasure hunt to find the gift, a prayer, a poem, something that is giving of his heart, not giving of his pocket. And that's why when you read the book and you hear y'all talk, that's why you understand why he got so upset at Deedee Zamarro. That's correct. You know what I'm saying? Because y'all talk, that's why you understand why he got so upset at Deedee Samara. That's correct. You know what I'm saying? Because y'all relationship is so much deeper than that. Of course. Because with their comment, it almost to me suggests as though there's nothing else worthy about him that would signal me to stay aside from what he has to offer financially.
Starting point is 01:11:48 And it's a joke right but we all know that all jokes are rooted in some truth and that's what i think their truth was looking at it from an outsider i wasn't some jackie come lately and met somebody with money and was like, oh, come up. We ground it out from day one. I was always there and supporting him and loving him. And if he failed and wound up being a secretary or anything, followed another path,
Starting point is 01:12:17 I would still be there. Yeah, I think you'd be a proctologist. A proctologist. He does that on the side. It took a beat to get that? I don't know He does that on the side. Did that take you? It took a beat to get that? I can't believe he's flirting with me with my wife. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 01:12:32 I'm just suggesting other career options that you could have taken. I can't believe he's flirting with me with my wife. It's like you're disrespectful. Real life, real love. Thank you for having me, guys. That's right. Pick it up today. And it's the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:12:45 Good morning. No, you got to tell this guest I love you before you sign off. Yes. Gia Casey, thank you for joining us. I love you. I love you, too. I love you way more than Charlamagne. It's the Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:12:56 Good morning. It's time for Donkey of the Day. Donkeys of the Day at Charlamagne. I'm a Democrat, so being Donkey of the Day is a little bit of a mixed question. So like a donkey. Keyhole. Donkey of the Day. The practice club, bitches.
Starting point is 01:13:14 Now, I've been called a lot in my 23 years that Donkey of the Day is a new one. Donkey of the Day goes to a 29-year woman in louisiana named jenna lisa lawrence now jenna lisa lawrence is wanted for attempted second degree murder her bond is 150 000 and police believe she fled from louisiana to dallas because that's where she's from or that's what they thought she's actually turned herself instance then uh second degree murder well what did this young queen do to catch that charge well jenna lisa is what i like to call a peace disruptor a agitator of auras the type that cannot allow a spirit to just be still oh yes we all have those kinds of people in our lives do you understand at
Starting point is 01:14:00 42 years old all i want to do is protect my peace by any means necessary my mental health diet is very important if what i'm taking in does not nourish my mental health i don't allow it in my space my peace is non-negotiable i'm not going anywhere i don't want to be i'm not doing anything i don't want to do and i'm damn sure not going to talk or be around anyone i don't want to be with see some people like jenna lisa just want to argue i know the type they enter your space and can't wait to get into a back and forth with you now i love me a good debate okay that but sometimes you know i'm saying i don't and that's why sometimes when people text you certain things looking for a debate an argument a back and forth whatever you want to call it if i don't ignore it completely i just reply back okay that's growth but see that's not enough for
Starting point is 01:14:51 a peace disruptor like jenna lisa no no no people like that will not stop until you go back and forth with them and as a wise man named little duval once told us i'm living my best life ain't going back and forth with you that ain't going back and forth part is very important but once again an agitator of auras like jenna lisa she's not having it she won't stop until she transfers that negative energy that exists within her into you that's the law of energy kids sir isaac newton said it best the law of energy is energy is never lost destroyed just merely transfer from one party to the next and that's exactly what jenna lisa was trying to do see according to action news 2 in atlanta jenna lisa was upset because her boyfriend refused to argue with her did you hear me j me? Jenna Lisa was upset because her boyfriend refused to argue
Starting point is 01:15:47 with her. Jenna Lisa, do you know how many women would love to have a man who doesn't argue with them? Do you know how many women would love to have a man who didn't pick a fight about every little thing? There's some women driving to work right now, listening to donkey of the day, angry because their man picked a fight with them last night our first thing this morning they was up arguing about something stupid i promise you this quarantine has tested the strength of so many relationships has tested the patience in so many relationships and so many people have sat around and asked themselves repeatedly, what are we arguing about now? Because they have a significant other who absolutely positively always has to find something to argue about.
Starting point is 01:16:34 Meanwhile, Jenna Lisa, you have a man who doesn't want to argue with you. He's probably chanting to himself, spiritually disciplined brother who's trying to be the best version of himself okay attempting to have heightened energy and more sensitivity towards others nice compassionate buddha chant just listen yes this just protecting his space okay protecting his truth protecting his peace and then pow this happens let's go to ksa ksla news 12 for the report please a man is fighting for his life tonight and the woman police believe is responsible is 29 year old gina alicia lawrence she is allegedly the estranged girlfriend of a 34 year old man that was shot lawrence allegedly shot him following a dispute she left the area
Starting point is 01:17:31 in a green honda accord with primer on the left passenger side front door right now police have a warrant charging lawrence with attempted second degree murder that's right uh general lisa shot her boyfriend simply because her boyfriend didn't want to argue with her you see how negativity works do you see how negative energy works general lisa's boyfriend didn't do anything to her she wasn't mad at him she was mad at herself whatever hurt she had inside of her she passed on to him because that's what hurt people do. Hurt people. Heal people. Heal people.
Starting point is 01:18:08 Hurt people. Hurt other people. I respect the boyfriend because clearly he's farther along in his journey of healing than she is because she likes discomfort so much. She likes disruption so much that she was upset her boyfriend wouldn't give her back what she was trying to serve him oh you just gonna walk around here peaceful you just gonna be happy in my presence what's going so good in your life that you don't want to argue with me what is this hakuna matata thing you talking about let me tell you what that is generalisa it's called making a choice and when you are protecting your peace, you have to make the choice
Starting point is 01:18:45 to not allow anybody to make you angry. Don't let them disturb your peace of mind or upset you. Don't give your power away to another king or queen. You decide your mood, not them. Jenna, Lisa, you tried it. And every other peace disruptor out there, I'm gonna pray for you. I want you to get healing.
Starting point is 01:19:05 And to all my brothers and sisters out there that are attempting to be the best versions of themselves, living their best lives, protecting their peace. I want to tell you, please, please, please protect your peace today and every day. Rise above any ignorance and don't allow someone else's misery to steal your joy. Please give Jenna, Lisa and Lawrence the sweet sounds of the Hamilton's. For now you are the donkey of the day. You are the donkey of the day. Yee-haw. Yee-haw. All right. Well, thank you for that donkey of the day, Shalemite. That's right.
Starting point is 01:19:46 Well, thank you for that donkey of the day, Charlemagne. That's right. The Breakfast Club. Hey, guys. I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about.
Starting point is 01:20:12 It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:20:53 Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia.
Starting point is 01:21:15 I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tried my own country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:21:34 What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast.
Starting point is 01:21:47 That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love.
Starting point is 01:22:36 I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best. And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:22:54 Hey there, my little creeps. It's your favorite ghost host, Teresa. And guess what? Haunting is back, dropping just in time for spooky season. Spooky Season talking spirits, demons, and the kind of supernatural chaos that'll make your spooky season complete. You know how much I love this time of year. It's the one time I'm actually on trend. So grab your pumpkin spice, dust off that Ouija board, just don't call me unless it's urgent, and tune in for new episodes every week. Remember, the veils are thin, the stories are spooky, and your favorite ghost host is back and badder than ever.
Starting point is 01:23:49 Listen to Haunting on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Sup, y'all. This is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it.
Starting point is 01:24:19 Make sure you check it out.
Starting point is 01:24:57 Check it. Did you know, did you know, I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was Claudette Goldman. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Wake that ass up up in the morning check out this breakfast club rewind morning everybody is dj envy angela yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club we got a special guest in the building yes sir her what's up good morning how are you i'm good it's bright and early is. You don't like getting up this early? You know, I'm not a morning person, but I just came back from the UK, so I'm good.
Starting point is 01:25:48 Okay. So congratulations to you, because you've been having a phenomenal past couple years. Amazing, yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, it's been crazy, honestly. So how many instruments do you play? I play mainly guitar, keys, bass, and drums. Damn.
Starting point is 01:26:03 Let's start from the beginning. A lot of people don't know. How did you get into the music industry? I know you were signed at the lot of people don't know How did you get into the music industry? I know you were signed at like the age of 14 How did you start? How did you get into the industry? Man, I mean it's a long story But I've been doing music for a really long time
Starting point is 01:26:13 My dad was a musician just for fun And I was singing as a young kid And things just happened The way they were supposed to happen The stars kind of aligned for me And I was doing meetings and stuff at a very young age people saw me you know singing playing Alicia Keys songs as a young girl like on YouTube and stuff and Eventually I got signed to RCA when I was 14
Starting point is 01:26:34 And you know I had the time to develop and figure out who I was as a person and growing to they held you that long Yeah, absolutely. They would have dropped you. Oh pretty much. I mean, you know when you're 14 You don't know who you are yet. You don't know who you want to be so i've seen the talent that early man i mean my parents number one um but there were so many people mbk entertainment you know they built alicia keys's career um jeff robinson is my manager he kind of gave me that creative space and we were kind of like going against what RCA, it was like a push and pull as far as what was going to happen for me. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:27:15 It was like I wanted to make sure that I was in complete control of my situation as my management team. And so I had the creative space to just figure out myself and figure out my sound and who and what I was going to represent. Can you really grow as a human at 14 with a record deal? I can you really grow I mean I did cuz I was going to regular school, you know And then I would I would come to New York for like a week or two weeks and record and and work with people And then go back to school, you know You know, it's so funny. I just I wrote a song called curious
Starting point is 01:27:44 I wrote about people being in my business like my parents, You know, it's so funny. I wrote a song called Curious. I wrote about people being in my business, like my parents, you know, like stuff like that. No boyfriend stuff. They weren't in your business. It's called being a parent. Right, exactly. No boyfriend stuff, though. No, no, no boyfriend stuff.
Starting point is 01:27:54 So you wrote all your own music. Absolutely. Absolutely. I've been a writer. I'm a poet, you know, as well as a writer. And I kind of, you know, they go hand in hand. And you never got discouraged being signed so early and and not really taking off to no absolutely I mean you know after a few years it's like okay when am I going to put out music when am I going to figure
Starting point is 01:28:13 this out who am I you know what what am I what am I going to do as far as my career is concerned and so when I graduated high school or before I graduated high school I'm like am I going to go to college or am I going to be in this music 100% so there were frustrations there you know and watching everybody else that was signed to my management company you know it was uh K Michelle and Brandy and Alicia Keys and L Varner and all these people and Justine Sky like all these great artists doing their thing and me kind of like sitting on the sideline you know at their shows kind of like waiting my turn like okay pretty soon I'm gonna have music out I'm gonna be doing shows i'm gonna be doing this and uh yeah i was just i was being patient and and i finally decided like all right i'm gonna
Starting point is 01:28:53 just be in this 100 my parents supported me so what does a teenager know about patience right what did i know about patience i don't know man i just i love music so much and there was nothing else i wanted to do i feel I feel like you know as a young child with the label telling you you should be like this and you should be like that like that would be hard in your formidable years because everybody's trying to tell you what to be instead of just letting you be man it is definitely definitely difficult that's why I always preach to people like no matter what anybody tells you surround yourself with people that are going to embrace who you are and see the potential in in what you can be and not what you should be or something that is modeled, something that you should be modeled after or manufactured into.
Starting point is 01:29:35 That was my whole thing. I'm going to just find my voice and figure out my truth and present that. What made you hide your identity for so long? I mean, it wasn't so much of a hiding my identity it was more so like focusing on the music like i didn't want people to know how old i am i didn't want people to know my you know ethnicity and i didn't want people to like see my face you know or or have any assumption you know we focus on all the superficial things and what's happening now and i just wanted people to focus on the music and the message and now
Starting point is 01:30:04 people of all ages have kind of taken my music and made it their diary you know like oh they feel connected to it because they don't know anything about me you know all right we got more with her when we come back don't move it's the breakfast club good morning taking you back right back with the classic rewind it's the breakfast club i thought this was a podcast if you missed the breakfast club you don't come from my world. It's dangerous. Check out this rewind. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 01:30:28 It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We have R&B recording artist Hearth. Now, Charlamagne, how did your career change when you revealed your identity? I didn't really reveal it. They were speculating. Oh, you know who that is?
Starting point is 01:30:41 Right, right. I mean, I never was like, hey, ta-da. You know what I mean? Here I am. Right, right. Exactly. exactly I mean you see me a lot more and uh at this point I don't think it even matters who I am what my name is or anything because people are in love with the music that was the point to begin with and people are still falling in love with it regardless of of knowing what I look like or anything so so nobody can slide in your dms huh no no no people be signing my dms you know you get their little requests sometimes oh you be checking them sometimes depends you know why
Starting point is 01:31:12 why don't you follow nobody because i'm not really like a you know i don't really be on social media like that like i want to see all that mess on her timeline right i still keep up you know a little bit it's on the Explore page. People start getting salty. Why don't you follow me back? You can't follow Daniel Caesar or nobody? No, I'm not following anybody. Do you miss the... What's the word?
Starting point is 01:31:36 Anonymity? What's the word? Anonymity. There you go. You know what I'm talking about. Do you miss people not knowing who you are? You should have said it like that. Anonymity. Sometimes. Sometimes I guess I expected this you know I kind of mentally prepared for whatever would happen I'm just happy to do music you know like it doesn't
Starting point is 01:31:56 doesn't matter I think sometimes I do like I try to be low-key you know I take the glasses off because if I have them on, they recognize me and put my hair back. Walk around like, wait a minute. That's and I'm like, you know, like my cover is blown. So how do you deal with relationships now? You know, because it's different now. Now they know who you are. They know your face.
Starting point is 01:32:15 I don't know. You know, it's hard to know if somebody really loves you for you. They don't. You know what? Not anymore. You know what? There are people out there. You're hurting us.
Starting point is 01:32:26 That's so negative. Listen, listen. That is so negative. The truth. Listen. You got to be very, very careful. Honestly, whatever it is, whatever situation I get into,
Starting point is 01:32:34 love takes time. When people show you who they are, you pay attention. You ever had any corny lines like, hey, her, I want to be your him? Yeah, all the time. They always do that. Actually, an artist did come out as him.
Starting point is 01:32:44 I'm talking about a guy trying to holler at her. Yes, all the time. They always do that. Actually, an artist did come out as him. I'm talking about a guy trying to holler at her. Yes, all the time. All the time. Shalem is thinking about his corny lines that he would have had back in the day. What's the corniest one? That is the corniest one. That's the one. You hit it right on the nose.
Starting point is 01:32:57 Right. How do you respond to that? I don't respond. I just be like, oh, okay, all right. I can't hear out of the side of my head. What made you name yourself after a whole pronoun? So it's kind of a long story, but when I was 15, 16, I used to look at other women, my high school, or people I consider my big sisters. And I would say, I'm never going to make the mistakes that they're making.
Starting point is 01:33:22 I'm never going to fall in love with this guy and fall for the wrong guy and all this stuff. Right. And I became her. I became that girl. Plus, we have to go through things on our own sometimes. Absolutely. You watch people make mistakes and you would wish we could learn from the mistakes of other people. But sometimes you're in something and it doesn't.
Starting point is 01:33:40 You're like, how did I get here? Exactly. I'm here. It's like you got a little bit of other women in you so to speak i mean i would say i am her kind of right so we all as women when we're you know even from high school to adulthood we experience similar changes we have shared experiences right we have feelings we've all fell for that wrong guy or that guy that was no good and we knew it was no good so it's this it's just that connection that all women have well you're
Starting point is 01:34:11 from l.a right well i'm from the bay area the bay area see people people in new york always think california is just l.a nah just charlamagne oh okay i didn't know you were from the Bay. Yeah, I'm from the Bay. Okay. Vallejo, E40, Sly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mack Dre. Yeah. How did Nipsey's death impact you, being from the West? It's really sad because when you see somebody doing really good for the community and they're gone, it's just like you feel like there's a missing piece. That's kind of how I felt.
Starting point is 01:34:39 Yeah, it feel weird, right? Like this one hits a little different. Yeah, it's a bit different. It affected everybody in some way. Just the energy kind of changed when we all found out. Her got to get up out of here, guys. She's supposed to leave 10 minutes ago. I've been ignoring the label over here, capping me.
Starting point is 01:34:53 What white outlet are they rushing you off to? You know what? I don't know. Where are we going? They want you to be on time for the white outlets, but they just breeze you through the black ones. No, I will always make time. That's why I'm still here right now. But just think about that when you go to the next outlet and you're in there time for the white outlets. I'm just working. Breeze you through the black ones. No, I will always make time. That's why I'm still here right now. But just think about that when you go to the next outlet and you're in there with all those
Starting point is 01:35:09 white people. You'll be like, damn, they really did rush me out of the black outlet to bring me over to play guitar. Dance. All right? Oh, my goodness gracious. Well, Herb, thank you for joining us. Thank you, Herb.
Starting point is 01:35:20 Thank you. Good luck with everything. Thank you so much. All right. Yes, it was a pleasure. We're so happy. And thank you for your donation that you made to Change for Change. You were actually the first person to call up and make a donation when we did our fundraiser.
Starting point is 01:35:31 Oh, wow. That was her? That's crazy. Thank you. Oh, my goodness. That's her. That was her. All right.
Starting point is 01:35:37 Thank you, guys. Appreciate it. It's The Breakfast Club. It's her. Taking you back, back, back with the classic Rewind. Rewind. It's The Breakfast Club. I thought this was a podcast.
Starting point is 01:35:46 It's topic time. Call 800-585-1051 to join in to the discussion with the Breakfast Club. Let's talk about it. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now, if you're just joining us, we're talking about Yee saying that male enhancements have been going up from plastic surgeons, right? Yes, they're getting their abs done and a little lipo.
Starting point is 01:36:14 And they're also getting penis enlargements with fillers. That has to be tough, though, as a guy. Like, what can you really do, right? Are you there, God? It's me. I would like a bigger penis. And nothing happens. I must. I must.
Starting point is 01:36:25 I must. I must increase my thrust. Well, let's go to the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Hello, who's this? Melanie. It's Miss Melanie. Hi.
Starting point is 01:36:34 Peace, Miss Melanie. How are you? I'm good. How are you? Bless black and highly favored. Amen. How blessed. He said he wanted to increase his penis size.
Starting point is 01:36:44 Would you get that for him maybe for christmas absolutely what made you say that with no hesitation she's waiting for christmas right now absolutely i mean i i mean i don't have a man currently but i've had men in the past that i felt like they could have benefited from some enhancement. Like they were perfect in all other areas, but they lacked there. And I just feel like the same way a man is quick to be like, here, babe, go get your BBL and they'll pay for it. A woman should be able to say that, too, or suggest that he gets enhanced without him feeling offended.
Starting point is 01:37:23 Because a lot of times they get offended. And it's like there's different options for you to explore for yourself. See, I got to hurt. You tell a man he need a penis enhancement and he don't got the money for it. Oh, my God. Right. He's like, well, you going to pay for it? And she's like, yes.
Starting point is 01:37:40 Jesus. Lord have mercy. Because I will be benefiting from it. Thank you very much. Well, then what about when you break up with him? Yep. I might have to have some kind of agreement signed.
Starting point is 01:37:55 If I'm at the point where I will pay for a man's enhancement, my relationship better be pretty solid. Imagine a man leaving you to go to another girl, and you have to run down on the other girl and say, I bought that D. I paid for those inches.
Starting point is 01:38:11 Wow. She's like, it's mine now. Let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? It's your boy, Willie D, man. Willie. Willie D. Speaking of which.
Starting point is 01:38:22 Nah, that joke actually sound crazy, dog. I actually just watched a video the other day of some dude talking about it on some other podcast. And I was just like, man, just love yourself, man. Like, for real, for real. You wouldn't get nothing? You wouldn't get no abs done? No nothing? Nah, dog. Nah. I mean, you gotta maintain it.
Starting point is 01:38:40 You know what I'm saying? So it's not even just like getting it done. You know what I'm saying? Because, I mean, if you get it done, then you ain't gonna work out every day and you know do your thing for real eat healthy you know i'm saying all that stuff i mean it's gonna be pointless that's real true i think it's a good jump and i mean hello who's this crazy like you said what's your name not mine hello who's this hey good morning good morning. Good morning. Good morning. What's your name, bro? My name's Real One. What's up, Real One? Okay, Real One.
Starting point is 01:39:07 Now, if you had the opportunity, would you add some inches to your penis, Real One? Nah, I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't add any inches or nothing like that. Like, I'm pretty good where I'm at. You sure? As far as, like, the... Yeah, I'm definitely sure. I'm definitely sure.
Starting point is 01:39:20 Nah, you say that until you get a gift certificate for five free inches. Nah, because, like, what if it starts to mess with how you feel? Like, I can't feel it anymore. Like, it won't make any sense. That's true. Because of nerve endings. Exactly. Like, I don't think it's worth it.
Starting point is 01:39:37 I don't think it's worth it at all. And then the whole ad thing, it don't make no sense either because if you're not eating right, you're going to lose it anyway. That's right. If you keep eating McDonald's and everything, it don't make no sense. It don't make no sense either because if you're not eating right, you're going to lose it anyway. That's right. If you keep eating McDonald's and everything, it don't make no sense. Make no sense whatsoever.
Starting point is 01:39:49 If you're not going to change your habits and your lifestyle after you get that, it's pointless. Yeah, you waste the money. All right. Thank you. Okay, so it's a hard no for you.
Starting point is 01:39:57 Let's go to another caller. One last one. Hello, who's this? Yo, this is Dre calling from out of Petersburg. It's a dream. Okay, Dre. Dre, your girl just called and she said that she thinks that you need a couple of inches.
Starting point is 01:40:09 So would you do it? I'm not doing that. I'm not doing that. You got to work with what you got, man. You got to be good with what you got. I will say women always getting, you know, their tummy tucked and a couple inches cut off, and they ain't doing the work we do in the gym. So I would do that.
Starting point is 01:40:26 But as far as with my manhood, I'm just going to be the best with what I got. Okay. All right. You're going to have some abs with a little penis. Everybody not blessed
Starting point is 01:40:37 down there. Okay. Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. Okay. Yeah, everybody not blessed. You're good at other things, right? You're good at other things. I'm sorry I didn't mean to Okay Yeah Everybody You're good at You're good at other things Right
Starting point is 01:40:46 You're good at other things I'm great at everything You know what's sad About this Man You know how they say If you appreciate What you got
Starting point is 01:40:53 You'll get blessed with more That doesn't apply To penis us Not at all Goodness gracious What's the moral of the story I just said it That's it
Starting point is 01:41:02 And you sounded Really sad saying it you definitely did I thank God for I thank God for it all alright it's the Breakfast Club good morning hey guys I'm Kate Max you might know me from my popular
