But y'all earn it. Impacting the culture. They wake up in the morning and they want to hear that breakfast. The world's most dangerous morning show. We in the mother. We in the house. Good morning, USA! Angela Yee's a little late. Charlamagne was popping.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Peace to the planet. It's Thursday! Yes, it's Thursday. Angela, you got a good reason to be late, though, because last night, somebody had the bright idea to have the Breakfast Club host the VH1 The Breaks event. Drop on the clues box for The Breaks on VH1. Coming back this Monday at 9 p.m. Remember they had the whole movie with Mack Wilde and Wood Harris and Mephiman with Mack's father.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Well, it turned into a TV show now. That's right. And they had a premiere show yesterday where they had some of the cast there. They had Naughty by Nature perform. And Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep performed. Because it was a 90s thing because you know the breaks are set in like the late 80s, 90s, right? Yeah, so they wanted The Breakfast Club to host.
Starting point is 00:04:17 And that's a bad idea. Which didn't make sense. But it was late at night. 8.30 to 10.30. They didn't tell us ahead of time, so we couldn't plan. We all had things to do, but we made it there, got in and got out. Yeah, see, this life is a full-time job. You leave, like for me, I leave here in the morning,
Starting point is 00:04:35 and I go do like five other things. Like I don't go home. Right. You know what I'm saying? No, right. I got a TV show called Uncommon Sense. It'll be season three premieres next Friday at 1130 p.m. on MTV2. Do I have to tell you to drop on the Clues Bombs or are you just going to act?
Starting point is 00:04:48 Here you go. Oh, boy. So, you know, I'll be busy. Yeah. And I got a book coming out April 18th. You know, you can preorder it now. It'll be working. It's called Black Privilege.
Starting point is 00:04:57 We'll be working. Right. So it's kind of late. Yeah. So, Angelina, you overslept. I don't blame her. She sure did. Because she'd be busy, too.
Starting point is 00:05:02 That's right. Well, last night was, of course, this week is Fashion Week in New York City. And every year my kids walk the runway. So they walked the runway last night. And the fashion show was for Jordan Brand, Nike, Levi's, and Hurley. And it's just great to see the celebrities that watch their kids and watch the celebrities actually, you know, so into their kids walking. Fat Joe's daughter walked. Victor Cruz's daughter
Starting point is 00:05:28 walked. Tiki Barber's daughter walked. I'm trying to think who else's kids. There were so many kids. Antonio Cromartie's kids walked. All of them? You got like 20? Nah, I think like four of them. You got 20, right? No, I think he has like 10 or 11. Oh, yeah. No,
Starting point is 00:05:44 no, not 20. You got like 10 or 11. Oh, yeah. No, no, not 20. You got like 10 or 11. Okay. All right. From the housewives, I've seen Teresa, Judais. I'm trying to think who else I've seen. There was a lot of people there, a lot of celebrities. They were just watching their kids walk.
Starting point is 00:05:55 It was just an amazing fashion show. It was just really dope. And then after that, I had to go to the break. So, you know, my problem yesterday was there was a down period of four hours. Now, the kids couldn't go to the breaks event because they were serving alcohol. So now they're stuck in the car for three hours. Gotcha. So there was nothing for me to do. So I'm stuck in the car trying
Starting point is 00:06:14 to basically be a clown and crack jokes and do all types of fun things so they're not sitting there bored. Listen, nobody cares about our first world problems, damn it. You're right. Alright. You're right. Well, in some good news, Johnny Gill will be joining us. Drop one of Clues bombs for Johnny G. All right.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Of course, new addition. Johnny Gill from new edition will be here this morning. We'll kick it with Johnny Gill. He's been here before, though. Yeah, he's been here before. So we'll kick it with Johnny Gill. Now, since he is not here, we don't know what's going on in front page news. Nobody gave me a piece of paper.
Starting point is 00:06:41 I'm sure it's got something to do with the Trump administration. Yeah, we'll say Donald Trump. All right. When we come back, keep it locked at The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We're at The Breakfast Club. What the hell are you talking about? We gotta do front page news and they just gave me the story, so I don't know what these stories
Starting point is 00:06:56 are about. Listen, man. Who cares, man? You're a professional. Alright. And everybody knows you're slightly dyslexic. A little bit. You've already overachieved, honestly. In life. Let's get into front page news. First and foremost, Carmelo Anthony has made the All-Star team.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Give him a round of applause. Yeah, absolutely. I'm going to close bonds for Carmelo. Carmelo is having a decent season. He's a reserve, I'm sure. He's having a great season.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Kevin Love got injured. Okay, all right. And Melo was on his way to vacation on vacation, and he decided that the league called and said, you got to play. So now he has to play. Now, Melo, how does Lala feel about that? If the vacation was vacation, and he decided that the league called and said, you got to play, so now he has to play.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Now, Melo, how does Lala feel about that? If the vacation was planned, go take the vacation. Well, I don't think you necessarily can do that. When the league calls, you kind of got to go. Oh, okay. I saw Phil Jackson sleeping on the train, on a bus or something. I did.
Starting point is 00:07:38 It was a picture of Phil Jackson passed out on the bus. I said, man, the Knicks are in shambles. This is a Phil Jackson doppelganger if I ain't never seen one then. Oh, let me find this picture while you're talking. Now, while you're looking that up now, Charlamagne, you think you have a tough life doing radio. Imagine working for station FM 103.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Never heard of it. I'm going to tell you, a Dominican Republic radio host was killed during his Facebook Live broadcast. Oh, you're saying that I got a tough life, meaning that I've been attacked a couple times. There you go. I have. I've been attacked twice. You've probably seen the Can I Get a Drop video. If you don't, you should saying that I got a tough life meaning that I've been attacked a couple times. There you go. I have. I've been attacked twice.
Starting point is 00:08:06 You've probably seen the Can I Get a Drop video. If you don't, you should Google it. It's amazing. And then it was another time I had to beat up a guy across the street
Starting point is 00:08:13 at the pharmacy. Yeah, you gave him a two-piece. A two-piece? Come on now. It was more than two. Come on, you saw it. Three-piece. No, it was more than three.
Starting point is 00:08:21 It was a three-piece and some chicken wing and some french fries. About a good nine. No, not a piece. Come on now. It was no damn three. It was a three-piece and some chicken wing and some french fries. About a good nine. Come on, now. It was no damn nine-piece. It was about a guy. It was five.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Let me see. Hold on. It was boop, boop, boop. Did I lay him out, though? You laid him out. Come on, now. You laid him out. Come on, now.
Starting point is 00:08:36 You can drop one of those balls for your boy now. You laid him out. You know what I'm saying? You laid him out. I'm a sucker, though. Please, don't test me. I just had to defend myself in that moment. But if we're going to be honest, right, when he came back into the drugstore, me and you
Starting point is 00:08:47 was in there. Me and you was a little... I didn't want to fight no more. You and me neither. I was like... I didn't want to fight no more. I was like, if he's coming back, he got a weapon. I said, you know what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Yeah, yeah, I didn't want to fight no more. All right, I'm good. I'm cool. We cool. All right. Now, well, these two individuals were shot and killed. They don't know why. They were taping their Facebook Live video. Everybody was watching
Starting point is 00:09:06 and all of a sudden they heard two gunshots. Bong, bong. They heard people yelling and they passed away. What the hell did they do to them in the Dominican Republic? I need to hear that broadcast. I need to hear what led to that shooting. Now also there's two strikes or two marches that are about to happen.
Starting point is 00:09:22 One is called A Day Without a Woman. The organizers of the Women's March on Washington have set a date for their general strike. A Day Without a Woman is going to be March 8th. It's going to be International Women's Day. I ain't about that like that. I can't. What you mean without a
Starting point is 00:09:38 woman? Like, my wife can't talk to me? My wife can't do nothing? Women run my life. They run mine. What's going to happen? From my manager to my assistant to my wife to my daughters to my mom. Like, no. Where y'all going? I don't know. But that's what they're preparing for.
Starting point is 00:09:54 And also. How about they strike on the people that are oppressing them. There you go. And don't respect them. Like, do that. Absolutely. Don't treat us like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And lastly, now they're going to have a day without immigrants. That's the day, actually. No, that's Thursday. Yeah, it is today. A day without immigrants. They're planning to strike, and it's going to basically be there's going to be no immigrants. They don't want to do anything. They're going to be chilling at home, relaxing.
Starting point is 00:10:19 So why are we here? We immigrants? You're right. Let's go home. Technically, we are immigrants here in America. That is the day. So they're supposed to be not working at restaurants, not working at the Trump Hotel, not working at public buildings, not doing cleaning, not doing a lot of that stuff.
Starting point is 00:10:35 So we'll see how that works out today. By the way, everybody's an immigrant except for the Native Americans. Drop on the clues bombs for the indigenous people of our society. Right. Even you white people. Y'all immigrants too. Y'all came out to Caucus Mountains. our society. Right. Even you white people. Y'all immigrants, too. Mm-hmm. Y'all came out to Caucus Mountains.
Starting point is 00:10:48 To Caucus Mountains. Now, Angela Yee is late. She is on her way. And that's front page news. Look, look, Phil Jackson. Passed out on the train. Look. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Hold on. He picked a picture bigger. That ain't Phil Jackson. I don't know what Phil Jackson is. That ain't Phil Jackson? Tell me that ain what Phil Jackson is. That ain't Phil Jackson? Tell me that ain't Phil Jackson. That's Phil Jackson. Look.
Starting point is 00:11:09 That look like Phil Jackson. That ain't look like Phil. That's Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson lost his weight. Anyway, tell them why you're mad. 800-585-1051. If you're upset, you need to vent, call us right now. Maybe you had a bad night, a bad day.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Whatever it may be. 800-585-1051. Also, we're allowing you to tell them why you're blessed. If you're blessed and you feel that you have some positive vibes in your life and there's things going on in your life that's just great and you want to share it to the world, we'll take both calls coming up, alright? Call us now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:11:38 The Breakfast Club. Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, good morning. This is Mad Rap. I'm going to tell you why, man. I'm going to tell you why I'm mad. I'm mad because I hung out in the club last night, and there was too many good girls in there.
Starting point is 00:11:50 Yo, for real, we don't need none of y'all good girls in the club. We need loose girls. We need drunk girls. We need sloppy girls. We need girls that's just going to call away. We don't need none of y'all nice girls in there. Go home. Go away.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Talk about it, and tell me why you mad. Breakfast Club, for real. Hello, who's this? Hey, good morning, guys. It's your boy, Port-A-Potty Guy. What's up, Port-A-Potty? Hey, it's a day without immigrants. Why you working?

Starting point is 00:12:19 This is why I'm mad, man. Yo, you heard what happened in Chicago to that two-year-old little kid, man? I did hear about that. It's sad, B, because I have a son that's two years old, man. You know what I mean? And what's going on in Chicago is ridiculous, man. You're talking about the two-year-old who got shot, right? Yeah, man, and died, bro.
Starting point is 00:12:37 And you got dudes like Soulja Boy and Chris Brown who want to be in a gang. I would never support these dudes, man, in whatever they do, man. Yeah, it's crazy to me that the guys who seem to be asking for it don't ever get it, but then a two-year-old will get popped. Innocent child get killed. Hello? Hello. Hey, tell them why you mad.
Starting point is 00:12:56 I'm mad to goddamn my damn boss, man. You did what? What? My boss. What about your boss? Why? What your boss do? What about your boss? Why? What your boss do? Man, they was supposed to give me the manager's job, and then they switched it up and hired
Starting point is 00:13:12 somebody new to get the manager's job. What kind of job? Manager's job. Oh, the manager's job. Oh, okay. Maybe you're just not ready to be a manager, sir. You ever thought about that? Oh, you don't speak clear enough to be a manager.
Starting point is 00:13:22 That could be it, too. Man, I speak real clear. I've been out for like five years. I done saw everything switch in front of my eyes that I'm still there. And they told me they was going to make me the manager. But then when it come up time for me to take the manager test, they just erased it. They don't even talk about it no more.
Starting point is 00:13:41 So what you going to do? What you going to do, bro? You going to stand up for yourself? Oh, boy. I don't know. You might be talking to what? I mean, I ain't really
Starting point is 00:13:49 in a position to because if I do, it's ****. They can send me to the apartment. They don't respect you. I don't even know what you said just now.
Starting point is 00:13:58 They don't respect you. Your phone don't respect you. Damn it, man. They don't respect you, bro. Damn it, man. Tell them why you mad. 800-585-1051. But when we come back now, let's have some positivity.

There you came up as a drug dealer. You came up. Hey, did you... Did you meet your wife because you were serving a dope? There you go. Did she know you was a drug dealer? Went from there, man. Had a long-distance relationship, and I moved to Ohio. I was in Detroit, I'll tell you that much. There you go. Did she know you was a drug dealer?
Starting point is 00:15:27 Yeah, I tried to have it for as long as I could. Okay. But it didn't work out like that. I'm just making sure. I'm just making sure because I want to make sure she get picked up on a conspiracy charge when they come get you. That's all. God, stop.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Hello, who's this? This is Nick Mack. Hey, tell them why you blessed, bro. Man, I went to prison, man, when I was 25 or something. That's what I did when I was 19, man. And when I got out, man, I started out washing cars at about $8 an hour, man, and working two jobs and hosting at a club. I checked my W-2s this year.
Starting point is 00:15:55 We're nine years later, man. And I live in Columbia, South Carolina. 803, the Metro. Yeah, you know what's up, Charlamagne. So I checked my W-2s, man, and the boy broke $60,000 a year this year, man, legally. Oh, man, drop one of the clues bombs for my brother right here. There you go.
Starting point is 00:16:12 That's what I like to hear. In South Carolina, man, you know, $60,000 puts you on your way, man. Oh, you a king. Yeah, you know, Charlamagne, you know how I get down to Leroy's, man. But, you know, I'm just blessed, man, because it could have been a lot worse, you know. I could have been, you know, gone for a longer period of time. I could have been, you know, real bad and let it get me down. But, you know, for the first time, I'm like, yo, things is finally looking up, yo.
Starting point is 00:16:34 So, I'm blessed, man. Hey, next Saturday, man, come spend some of that money with us. We're going to be in Charlotte. You know I got my section. Starting point is 00:17:16 There's a bunch of people that came through over the years. Last year, it was 50 Cent, Cardi B, and Ply's. Ply's, yeah. So come on through and spend the day with us. We'll give you more details. Hit up on our Instagram to find out. It's at the V Charlotte 500 West 5th Street, Charlotte,

So come party with your people, Charlotte. Absolutely. Alright. Now, when we come back, we got rumors on the way. Solomon, you know any rumors?
Starting point is 00:17:46 No, I don't know any rumors. That's not my job. That's not mine either. But hold on. Let me go to Ball Alert and see. Ball Alert. Salute to Ball Alert. Salute to Shade Room.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Ball Alert and Shade Room got up right now. Hold on. Bear with me, guys. All right. Ball Alert has pictures of the Yeezy fashion show that went down yesterday. So we'll tell you about that. Also, The Weeknd throws a shot at Justin Bieber. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:18:08 The Breakfast Club. You ain't got no headphones here? I'm here. Hey, somebody bring you some headphones, please. I can hear you guys fine. Okay. I'll just pretend I have them. I just can't hear if there's audio playing or anything like that. What you got for a report? We are going to be talking about... Let me see. Let me see if it's what I teased.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Let's see. What did you tease? I don't even know what you teased. I wasn't here. I teased The Weeknd dissing Justin Bieber. Well, we're not going to do that here. Okay. But yes, that's in there. Just hit the intro. We'll figure it out. It's about time. What's going on?
Starting point is 00:18:41 Rumor Report. Rumor Report. This is the Rumor Report. With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Well, I'm sure you guys Oh, yeah. Rumor report. Rumor report. This is the Rumor Report. Talk to him. With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Well, I'm sure you guys all saw CeeLo at the Grammys, right? Right. Dressed in gold. Allegedly.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Now, now CeeLo is saying that he never even went to the Grammys. Here's what he said. Oh, that's somebody else all together, man. Is that the new you? I've been hearing about the guy. I saw a lot of the trouble he's making out here, man. Is that a real gold suit you think he was wearing at the fairway? I don't know, bro.
Starting point is 00:19:08 I wasn't there. I mean, it's possible that wasn't him. No, that was him. Listen, it's possible that wasn't him. That could have been a CeeLo-inspired suit, and he could have sent somebody to wear it. We don't necessarily know if he was inside of it. Okay, good point.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Can't prove it. Just like we don't know if Charlamagne was here yesterday. That's right. Had a ski mask on the whole time. Right. So you never know. Maybe it really wasn't him. True.
Starting point is 00:19:30 All right, now let's talk about our guy Nick Cannon. What actually is going on? Because America's Got Talent is still acting like Nick Cannon is going to be there. They released some promo pictures. Nick Cannon is in the pictures.
Starting point is 00:19:40 But he has said that he's not going back to the show. Well, according to sources, they're saying that Nick Cannon was devastated when he learned the network was talking about firing him as host of America's Got Talent. And he said there's a long history of entertainers
Starting point is 00:19:54 who have trashed their networks right on the show and everything was all good to go. Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, David Letterman, many others have done that in the past. I'm glad you said it before it came out of my mouth.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Drop on the clues bombs for Nick Cannon. He's a great guy. He does a lot of things out here, but he is none of those individuals you just named. They said Nick Cannon also talked about Tracy Morgan, who made a comment during a show and suggested he might knife his son if he found out he was gay. Why are you throwing other people under the bus, Nick? Defended was gay. Why are you throwing other people under the bus, Nick?
Starting point is 00:20:25 Defended Tracy Morgan. Why is Nick throwing other people under the bus? Well, this is according to a source close to Nick. And by the way, Tracy didn't say that on NBC. Tracy said that on his stand-up special. Well, Nick Cannon didn't say it on NBC either. He said it in his stand-up special. But I mean, okay, I said that wrong. That wasn't about NBC. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:20:41 It wasn't about NBC. And Tracy took that back and apologized. Now we're told they're saying that Nick Cannon was questioning his own self-worth as an entertainer. He started thinking he was being treated differently from others because he just wasn't that good. He also talked about his salary. That's kind of true, though. What are we talking about when you say not that good? Rap? That's what you mean?
Starting point is 00:21:01 And that's your friend, man. I'm telling the truth. What are you talking about when you say not that good? So he felt like that he just was being very undervalued and all of that. So he has quit. I just, I mean, I don't mind Nick taking a stand. I just want to make sure he's taking a stand and there's actually a stand to be taken. Everything is sources said, sources said.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Like what executive did Nick talk to that told him, hey, we were thinking about firing him? Because according to NBC, they were not. They didn't say that. They still even have him on the promos for America's Got Talent. That's what I'm saying. Like, who told Nick this? Who told Nick that NBC was going to fire him? Maybe somebody was just playing a joke.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Gassing him up. Probably it was Charlamagne. You know they about to fire you, I heard. That might have been Charlamagne. Charlamagne says all kinds of things. Sounds like something Charlamagne would do. That's not true, and then forgets. Oh, I will gas you up and forget I gassed you up. Yeah, I never said fire you, I heard. That might have been Charlamagne. Charlamagne says all kinds of things. That sounds like something Charlamagne would do. That's not true, and then forgets. Oh, I will gas you up and forget I gassed you up.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Yeah, I never said, yes, you did. I heard you say it. What? It might have been Charlamagne. No, I don't think. I don't know. Nobody in NBC. Even better.
Starting point is 00:21:57 You still might have did it. All right. Now, there's this new thing happening in porn. The new thing happening in porn? What's this? Brian Pumper is doing something that's never been done before. What's that? As far as I know.
Starting point is 00:22:09 Now, you know everybody's always trying to do something that's different, all kinds of fetishes. If he could stick his old thing in his... Never mind. Come on. Now we'll be doing different. Go ahead. Excuse me? Nothing.
Starting point is 00:22:19 What do you want to do, Envy? Why are you even thinking about that kind of stuff? I don't know. It's just something new and different. So weird. Why are you thinking about that? I'm sorry. Go ahead. So you would watch that? No, I don't know. It's something new and different. So weird. Why are you thinking about that? I'm sorry. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:22:25 So you would watch that? No, I wouldn't. That would not even cross my mind. Well, here's what Brian Pumper is doing in the middle of some doggy style backstrokes. He cracked an egg on her head. That's hot. Drop one of those balls for that. You know, you got to tell people that have kids in the car
Starting point is 00:22:49 that they might want to turn the radio down for 10 seconds before you play that part. Why? It's just breakfast. The man thought... Boy, turn it down. Envy's breathing heavy. That man was into cracking his egg. That's all.
Starting point is 00:23:01 And then he put on Twitter, sometimes I just want to crack an egg on a hoe. What's the point of telling him like that? You ain't got to call her a hoe. Cracking an egg on that's all. And then he put on Twitter, sometimes I just want to crack an egg on a hoe. What's the point of that? No, tell him like that. You ain't got to call her a hoe. Cracking an egg on her head is enough. But after you crack the egg, what do you do with it? But what's the point of it?
Starting point is 00:23:11 I don't know. I guess it just dribbles down. So then he posted a picture of himself holding dozens and dozens of eggs, and he said, about to start a movement. Hashtag crack an egg on a hoe. The wackest thing about that is you wasting food. Then he said More eggs my N-word
Starting point is 00:23:27 About to scramble some vagina That's so wack It's wack as you wasting food Why you wasting all them good eggs man Somebody can eat them eggs Right well that's the thing So I don't know if anybody's gonna try to follow suit Or if they're gonna start a movement
Starting point is 00:23:43 Let me tell you something I will say this though is going to try to follow suit or they're going to start a movement. Let me tell you something. I will say this, though. If somebody cracks an egg on you in the middle of sex... And you let him, you deserve to be called a hoe. What? You can't go to no women's marches.
Starting point is 00:23:54 You can't stand up for yourself no more. Unless you're cooking in the kitchen. No, no, no. And you're cooking in the kitchen and you're doing that. You buy the stove and you be like, okay, boom, crack. You let a man crack an egg on your head
Starting point is 00:24:04 during sex and the challenge is called the crack an egg on your head during sex, and the challenge is called the crack an egg on a hoe challenge. If you allow that, you deserve to be called a hoe. Ladies, do not let nobody crack an egg. Guys, do not let no woman crack an egg on you, please. Okay. I don't even sound right. That's so weird.
Starting point is 00:24:20 All right, I'm Angela Yee, and that's your rumor report. All right, thank you, Miss Yee. When we come back, we have an OG in the building, Johnny Gill. Of course, some new addition, the lip-quivering Johnny Gill. M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m. What? M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m. Yes, and we'll do a Johnny Gill mini mix, all right?
Starting point is 00:24:37 So, Johnny Gill, when we come back, keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. That was Ray Shermert. Morning, everybody. It's DJ, MV, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We got a special guest in the building.
Starting point is 00:24:49 One of the members of the greatest R&B group of all time, in my opinion. Yes. Johnny Hill. I agree with you. Johnny Hill. Yeah, I love Josie. I came in with a new addition. You know what I'm saying? But what made a new addition great was that everybody was able to go on and do more even outside the group.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Yeah, yeah. So there's not a lot of groups that could say, like, what other group did everybody go and do something? Wu-Tang. Yeah. Wu-Tang, huh? Everybody had a solo? Yeah, everybody. Yeah, everybody.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Even Master Killer. Yeah, Master Killer. No set date. Johnny Gill lost a lot of weight. Johnny Gill lost some weight. When I seen Johnny Gill perform in Essence, you was about 50 pounds heavier. Well, I go up and down.
Starting point is 00:25:29 How do you lose the weight? Girl problems. Come on, man. Stress. Man, I'm trying to tell you, man. It's like, damn. Now let me ask you this. You really having bad girl problems? You know, well, my roster's getting pretty strong now, but, you know, sometimes, you know.
Starting point is 00:25:51 You got a roster, JJ? How he playing, man? Oh, come on, man. Come on, man. Yeah, yeah. I'm like, you know, hey, man, I try to keep it tight and right, you know what I'm saying? The rest of them all married and locked down and stuff. But somebody's got to hold it down, you know, and I take it for the team, you know?
Starting point is 00:26:03 You were one of the first ones in New Edition in a relationship, though, even before you joined the group, because the rest of the guys were single, running around crazy. Yeah, yeah. So I did. I bet you had done that. Yeah. Yeah. You know, that's old, back in the day, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:26:14 Yeah, back then. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But now I'm like, I have to hold it down for the guys, because they held it down for me when I was, you know, locked down. So, you know, I take one for the team. Now, Stacey's family was real upset with you. Why? They told the website, they said, I'm going to read the quote, it know, I take one for the team. Now, Stacey's family was real upset with you. Why? They told a website they said, I'm going to read the quote, it said,
Starting point is 00:26:27 Jerry, Stacey Ladislau's brother, my mom don't care about what color Johnny Gill is. If it wasn't for her, he wouldn't be in New Edition, period. She basically got him his first record deal, by the way. Stacey's husband is brown-skinned, too. How are they going to put my mother out there like that? Johnny Gill, you're still my brother, though. They basically believed they was falsely portrayed in the film.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Well, let me say this, young man. And I'm going to try to be politically correct. There you go. Do this really nice and cool and sweet and make sure
Starting point is 00:26:52 we get our point across. If you've never done a movie before or had a movie done on your life, part of the process is they sit down, they talk to you
Starting point is 00:27:02 about your journey, your truth, your ups, your downs, your good, your bad and your uglies. Well, we talked about because she was a part of my career and get me started. We dated. What was some of the issues and some of the things that we've gone through, some good stuff, some bad. So that was my truth. And that was my story. And nobody gets to govern me to tell me and to talk about my truth and my story whether you like it or whether you don't this had nothing to do with trying to make
Starting point is 00:27:31 your mother look bad make Stacy look bad we're talking about my journey this is my story that's going out there to the world and whether you agree to disagree and as a young man you don't know everything that might have taken place. So I hear what you're saying to protect and defend your mom. But, you know, I think at the end of the day, sit down, and be happy, and take your 15 minutes or five minutes with that window open, see what you can do with it that might help your sister maybe get her life and her career back on track. Oh, damn, Johnny.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Oh, well now. You know, because sisters are mad when they see there was a white woman. It was a white girl. Well, Stacey's not white. Stacey's black. Oh, she's black? She's black, absolutely. Stacey Lattisaw? Yeah. You don't know Stacey Lattisaw? Yeah, she's, well. Stacey's black. Oh, she's black? She's black, absolutely. Stacey Latisaw?
Starting point is 00:28:25 Yeah. You don't know Stacey Latisaw? Well, I mean, she was light. She's really light. And a lot of people thought, everybody thought that she was. Well, I Googled the picture. She was so pale. Everybody thought that.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I guess I'm so pale, too. I guess I always knew her music before I knew what she looked like. So I always just knew she was. And for the record, her mom has never treated me, disrespected me in any way. But, you know, even with my own mom, even with the record company, the president of the record label, he was just like, you know, that story, that part of the story, he was just saying, you know, he used to call her heavy cream and he was like, yeah, you know, Sondra, don't really, you know, like you, dating Stacey, you know, you're a little too dark.
Starting point is 00:29:03 My manager, old manager, Bill Underwood, Bill used to call me after he used to laugh about it. They started calling me Darkie. Yeah, come on, Darkie. Thank you. You wasn't even the darkest member of the group, though. But it was just because they knew about the whole situation with Stacey and I. And, yes, Stacey and I, even in the comment that Luke made about the fact that we were, you couldn't tear us apart.
Starting point is 00:29:30 We were together a lot, and they had concerns with us being together and spending too much time and all those things. But that was just a part of growing up and a part of the journey and a part of our, you know, what we went through. So that was just my story. It had nothing to do with trying to make her look bad or anyone, but this is just my truth. And that was back in the day when they wanted y'all to be single to appeal to the fans, right? To the fans and stuff, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:46 Although a celebrity relationship is good, too. Oh, absolutely. But you gotta understand, I was on top of my game before I was even a celebrity, because I was dating her before I was a celebrity. So, you know, I was... How did you get it? Was you writing or something? Were you a writer?
Starting point is 00:30:01 I was a singer. You know, singers, back then, we really used to, the athletes now is taking over and trying to give us a run for our money. But back in the day, singers, we had first dibs. It was like. When Bell Big DeVoe was up here, they talked about the whole process of sitting in the room and going over your stories and reading the script together. Were there some discrepancies
Starting point is 00:30:25 that you saw in the script uh in the script itself uh like the ways that other people told the story you're like that's not how that happened i don't recall that well i i saw recently that they were just saying that they didn't know that you know wasn't sure that that um or wasn't aware that what ralph was talking about took place but um i remember distinctively i was there when the first day when we got into the whole shouting match and all that stuff um ralph and i wind up and it was so funny because we wind up talking like every day once we finished from recording we would go and sit down in his room. Remember when we were sitting there and just talking?
Starting point is 00:31:07 And I remember when Ralph told me about the fact that he had all the things, the way he was being treated. And he was talking about the sacrifices that he had made with the fact that they've been they was asking him to go solo a long time ago. And he was like, everything was about, you know, what are the guys going to do? What are the guys going to do? What are the guys going to do? So the things you got to understand when you're an artist, and Ralph was the lead singer, not being able to be free at some point creatively to do some things and you have to stay in this bubble and certain things
Starting point is 00:31:39 because they had a sound, they had a style. So I think that was more frustrating for him more than anything. you know i i mean i know we discussed it and we talked about it back then so i was you know maybe they didn't i don't know but uh i was aware of it and you and bobby brown never fought i don't know where this thing came about with bobby the craziest thing about bob was bobby told me he was like man i was so of you, envious and jealous of you. And then when I got a chance, when I saw you singing and watching you singing, I kept going, damn, wow. But he said that I was jealous, but it was like, what could I do? And, you know, and the craziest thing is Bobby used to come over to my crib. He used to stay at my crib when he would come to L.A.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Right. And it was like I still kept hearing all this stuff about, oh, they're fighting. And he came and he took Bobby Brown's place and that they were, you know, and it was the total opposite for us. So y'all never had real tension? It seemed like you and Ralph had a little tension and then you and Bobby had some tension? Nah, nah. We had, you know, it was getting to know each other.
Starting point is 00:32:43 It was kind of like the standoff thing where you go, oh, yo, what's up with you? What's up with you? But it was never a, I never had any issues with Bob or with Ralph. Even Ralph, when we got there and started talking, we realized we had so much in common. As a matter of fact. That scene, I remember that scene with Ralph and Luke.
Starting point is 00:33:03 I forgot who played Ralph. In the studio. Yeah, that scene, I remember that scene with Ralph and Luke. Luke and I forgot to play Ralph in the studio. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That that happened. And it was so funny because we realized we had so much in common.
Starting point is 00:33:14 And that was because he was talking about leaving the group. And he said, he'll tell you to this day. He said, when you came in and we started bonding, man, he was like, that is what made me stay in this group because I realized there was somebody in here who understood where I was coming from. All right, we got more with Johnny Gill when we come back. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:33:32 The Breakfast Club. That was Missy Elliott with Work It. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Johnny Gill is in the building. Charlamagne? Now, the scene in the movie where it's kind of like they just brought you in the group,
Starting point is 00:33:49 and Ralph walked in and didn't even know that you was a part of the group. Was that real? That was true. Wow. That was true? That was true. Wow. That was actually true.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Unfortunately, it worked out because I could see how that would upset. Oh, absolutely. Not have any say in who's joining the group. I was blindsided. Yeah. I was blindsided because they told me that I was coming in because they want to go back to the five member group because the choreography looks more, it would be more effective. So I didn't know all the internal stuff that was going on until I got there. And they had already started recording. So I come in, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis is looking and hey, hey. And I remember when everything blew up
Starting point is 00:34:26 and Terry looked at me and he said, you know, you won't be singing or doing any leads or anything on this album. And I said, okay. Just tell me what you guys need me to do. And that was cool with you. You didn't have a problem with it. I never had a problem with it. Was your contract messed up too, like everybody else?
Starting point is 00:34:39 No, never. I didn't come into this business and had the kind of issues that they had. So, you know, it was a little different for me. But you had to see them getting small checks and you were cool. You were all right. You had a crib and they were still going back to the project. So how did they look at you? That would have brought jealousy to them. Oh, yes, it did. Absolutely. It did. And that's just part of what came with the territory. I didn't create the mess. I just came in here and took care of my business.
Starting point is 00:35:03 And I started that from day one. There's a thing that I hear every art, a lot of artists talk about where they perform and they didn't get paid and they went somewhere and somebody took their money or they did all this. And I've never had any of that because from day one, I've always made it clear. And I was just a 15, 16 year old kid. But I also came up and I had great mentors from Henry Allen and Bill Underwood and the list goes on there was no you can't get me to leave home without half of my money so I'm not the risk taker and I realized that early on so if something is going down and there's no negligence on my end the reality is that hey listen if it ain't going right I understand but I can't take
Starting point is 00:35:40 the risk and put my money up that's not what I do I'm just here you ask me for my services I'm coming to render my services if you're going to pay and we're going to keep it rocking. So I never had that story where it was like, okay, you get on stage and come off and they don't have more money. It's like, listen, I'm not getting on stage unless my money's in my hands. So
Starting point is 00:35:57 it was like, I keep, when I hear these stories, I keep going, what did I miss? Like, really? Like, this is so many people went through that. But I knew about business and understood business a long time ago. That's why I look at where I'm at today with my own label, all the things that I've been talking to the guys about. I was like, before I put out this last album, this Game Changer,
Starting point is 00:36:17 which, by the way, is getting ready to come up on its third year of being out, and we just released our fourth single off there. Three top tens, one number one, and this is all just me doing it myself. And doing it myself and i've you know tried to lead by example even with my own guys i'm like we've been in this business long enough we got too many relationships why are we sitting here with our hands looking like cups asking somebody to give us something let's create our own right especially right now the moment is there after the movie yeah yeah so you know and you just try to lead by example. So sometimes I don't think it works for everybody, but I get it.
Starting point is 00:36:47 I understand. And the thing is about us is we all want the same things. If you put us all in separate rooms, we butt heads and have internal issues. But if you put us all in a separate room, we all want the same thing for New Edition. And finally having an opportunity to be recognized and be respected, to get our names written in stone, to get our story told. The next, the $100 million question was, what's next?
Starting point is 00:37:11 It seems like the members of New Edition get along just enough to do something and then y'all go back to not getting along. Yeah, yeah. I don't know, but some kind of way we always seem to land on our feet. I don't know, I some kind of way we always seem to land on our feet. I don't care how you chop it up.
Starting point is 00:37:27 It seems like it's just total chaos. I heard you have a new album, though, a new album. A few days after the movie was released, I called Michael, and we talked, and I said, hey, you know, it's just me and you on here, and let's keep it 100. Some things you don't like about me and some things John don't like about you. Let's talk. Let's figure this out. Michael, what's up?
Starting point is 00:37:47 Yeah. Okay. And we sat down and we talked. We talked for almost a couple of hours. Why is Michael? By the way, I wanted to play Michael 15 years ago. But why is he the one that everybody seemed to have some type of issue with? Like, he had issues with Ralph.
Starting point is 00:38:00 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he had issues with you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you're Jew. Yeah, yeah. Well, I think Michael realizes that, and I think in some ways I can understand how he feels. When you look at Puffy and you look at Jay-Z and you look at Jermaine and all of them, Michael was one of the ones that was at the forefront. And I truly believe that he just feels like he never really got his respect and his just do. And I think anytime somebody's doing something that is not being brought or it's not him being probably part of doing that and making that happen, it just doesn't feel good to
Starting point is 00:38:31 him because he wants to be respected. And I understand that. So anything that's coming, it looks like it's coming from somewhere else that looks like somebody else is doing it kind of feels almost like, yo, this is my lane. You know, you just hold the mic. Y'all sing. This is what I do. Yeah, they don't mention him in that mogul space.
Starting point is 00:38:48 Even though Viv 10 was popping. Yeah, it was popping. Boyz II Men, another bad creation. And so I understand that it's like it's a part of working hard, and nobody wants to work. As a vocalist, I don't want to go with my work being unnoticed. It's like we all do what we do because we want to be respected. We want our work and people to recognize our work and respect us so i think that's probably where most of the problem
Starting point is 00:39:10 i think lies with him is just that being hands-on and being able to say i was a part of or i did this i created this was a thing that he was just really driven and it was driven i think simply because he's always wanted and never got the respect that I think that he rightfully deserves. So what was your problem with each other? Because I've seen y'all perform many a time. So what was that conversation like after that? The craziest thing about us is we could be fighting, throwing chairs and everything in that room and we get on stage.
Starting point is 00:39:38 You would never know there was an issue. And we're on stage laughing and talking, going, come on, old man, pick it up. Let's go. The problem with the stage is and talking, going, come on, old man, pick it up. Let's go. That's probably the stage of your outlet. Yeah, yeah. But everybody, we were so frustrated because we never got the respect and the kind of paper that we thought we deserved. Don't say respect.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Y'all may not have got the paper, but I don't know nobody who don't respect New Edition. To the point when that New Edition biopic came, we were like, hell yeah. Yeah, yeah. To get us to watch three nights in a row? Yeah, but you know how long it took? Ten years. Right.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Ten years to get somebody to get it because nobody, we went through all the houses. Took them ten years before somebody was able to. Well, that's their fault because they don't know our culture. They're white people who don't know our culture. Yeah, so, I mean, they were beyond in shock that we had the biggest crowd ever for the induction of the Hollywood on the Hollywood Walk of Fame just a few weeks ago. And they were actually totally blown away
Starting point is 00:40:33 going, this is the biggest turnout that they've ever had. But we sometimes didn't even realize we realized our worth but because the way that we were being treated or not being treated, we was just all frustrated. So everybody individually went out and became successful and could get things done.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Sometimes we couldn't get done collectively as an audition. So people was frustrated and everybody was just fighting amongst each other because we all thought my way is the best way. You always best. My way is the best way. So That's what the frustration, I think, came from. And that's so true because if you guys are probably getting paid well and compensated properly, it has to be really frustrating to be coming back from tour and it was getting like a dollar. And you're still looking going, wow. And then now I got to deal with y'all tired.
Starting point is 00:41:17 We're all working really hard. We haven't slept. And we have no money. That has to be a way that y'all are not going to get along with each other because your individual lives were probably like... Yeah, we were able to do a lot of things really individually that we just, for some reason, just couldn't happen with No Addition for a certain period of time. And you kept sitting there going, wow, like, when are they going to get it?
Starting point is 00:41:38 Like, when are we going to really get that level of respect? All right, we got more with Johnny Gill when we come back. Let's get into a Johnny Gill mini-mix. Just a couple of his joints. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. That was a Johnny Gill mini-mix. Good morning, everybody.
Starting point is 00:41:50 It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club. We got Johnny Gill in the building. Charlamagne, now does your top lip flutter right every time you do my mama? Like, when you go... You know what happens with that You know We don't want
Starting point is 00:42:09 We're growing folks in here But you know Sometimes man You got to do what you got to do You got to hum Yeah yeah yeah They like that Like a vibrator
Starting point is 00:42:20 I talk about even if you're singing verbatim If you're singing along You got to do that Are you really not down. Just like that? Can you stay in the ring just like that? You're all in the studio and going verse to verse? No, no, we didn't do that. But a lot of the stuff I would sing and then do the ad-libs and then, you know, they would
Starting point is 00:42:44 come back in and whether it was Ricklibs and then they would come back in whether it was Rick or someone and they would just go, okay. This is what JG did. How do you avoid the drug? The craziest thing is I've been around so many people and so many people that I really admire.
Starting point is 00:43:00 I've never, to this day, I've ever seen, I've never even seen cocaine. I'm 50 years of age. Never seen it. Never seen anyone or no one around me ever use cocaine. But you can see some people's demeanor to recognize something's going on. But never seen it. I don't think I've ever seen anybody use cocaine either.
Starting point is 00:43:20 Never seen it. And I often thought, those people look at me when I walk in a room because there's so many people that... With the cocaine away. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And that's how I feel. Right. So I often wonder, like, what is it?
Starting point is 00:43:31 Because everyone always go, no, no, no, you don't want to do that with him and he's not the one. He's not that. Like, they just... I feel like maybe everyone has always had that level of respect for me and realizing that, like, yeah, here come Reverend Gil
Starting point is 00:43:42 because I don't have no problems going, hey, listen, let me just keep it 100 with you. Let me just be honest with you. Come on, man. You know, come on. You can't do that. Yeah, I've never seen it either. I've never seen nobody use cocaine in front of me before.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Yeah, never. Never. I've definitely seen cocaine. I done fake sniff cocaine before. Knock you off the table, just got a little bit on the top of your nose. Oh, okay. And, you know, I smoked it in the table with a little beacon on the top of your nose and you know I smoked it in a blunt
Starting point is 00:44:08 but it's just a blessing man just looking at all this stuff happening 33 years later and you go wow it's like it's surreal man it's like surreal because this is what we worked hard for and we have an opportunity now at this point to capitalize and continue to grow
Starting point is 00:44:24 and take this for what it's worth and do it. And then I had, you know, after we had that conversation with him, I got on the phone and I talked to Al Heyman. And I tell you, this guy started with us and got us up and running many, many years ago. Al Heyman? Al Heyman. The boxing promoter? Yes, Al Heyman. Heyman's not a boxing promoter.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Oh, he was in the music before he started. Oh, yeah, he started from the OJs was one of his first acts. But Al was just as huge in the music game as he is in boxing today.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Wow. Oh, he was the man. And to be able to call him and have him to come out of retirement and say, JG, if the heads are right, I'm in. Is everybody's heads right? Well, everybody seems to be in a good place.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Bobby too? Bob seems to be in a good place. But we've talked about the issues and the concerns that we have. We all got on the phone to talk about our concerns with him as our little brother. And knowing that what we know he's capable of doing that we still haven't seen the best of him yet so he understands that we're we're going to move down the road all of us deserve to make sure our babies and our our family going to be you know taken care of and al is one of the most powerful promoters on the planet if he's the most powerful and he says i
Starting point is 00:45:42 want to do something for you guys and i want to make sure that this time around that you guys get an opportunity to go out here on this road and come back and be really happy and comfortable. And he says, I'm on it, I'm working on it, and I'm going to make sure, he says, I'm going to make you proud. And what was the process like with Luke James?
Starting point is 00:46:00 Did he follow you? Out of all the actors, we spend the least amount of time around each other, only because my mom's been sick, so I've been in D.C. with my mother for the last six months. So I wasn't even on the set a lot with them when he was shooting. And I met with him once, and we talked over the phone. Any questions that he had, I would answer. But to watch him embody me and spend not that much time around me
Starting point is 00:46:27 was a guy that really did his homework. And I looked, when I was looking at him, I'm just sitting there going, wow. And all my friends said the same thing. Anybody that knows Johnny, that they know that that's who you are. And it's like, it was funny to watch this guy be able to, and we know he could sing,
Starting point is 00:46:53 but to be able to pick up on my demeanor and be able to uh embody me and my attitude about how i felt about the business about life about them was truly uh incredible and i told him i was like man yo son you nailed it you nailed it you know I was concerned because when I did, I was back, like I said, in D.C. with my mother, and I never got a phone call from anyone to say, hey, this movie is about done. We want you to take a look at it and see if there's anything in here that would be, that, you know, you disapprove or might not be uncomfortable or that you might not be happy with. And I never got a phone call from anyone.
Starting point is 00:47:23 So I saw the movie the day that everybody else saw it. Wow. And I never got a phone call from anyone. So I saw the movie. The day that everybody else saw it. Wow. And I kind of felt a certain kind of way. Because at one point I'm thinking. This is a part of my life too. A part of my life story. And like nobody's going to. Because of doing what my circumstances is.
Starting point is 00:47:37 Nobody's going to call me and go. Hey. Let's make sure you can. You know. You take a look at this. And then get calls and go. Hey. We want you to go out and promote the movie.
Starting point is 00:47:44 I said. But how am I going to promote something. I don't know. I'm the same. But that's want you to go out and promote a movie. I said, but how am I going to promote something? I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it. But that's the reason why you didn't promote the movie. I'm like, hey, I can't. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything was going to be great. Looking at your Twitter timeline.
Starting point is 00:47:56 Yeah. I'm just like, man, like, really? But you were happy with it. I was beyond pleased with it. Beyond pleased. And I'm grateful. But it was a scary process because I'm sitting here going, wow, nobody's going to call me, I guess. All right, I got it.
Starting point is 00:48:09 I see. But, you know, it turned out wonderful. But there's some things you wish were in there that didn't make it as far as your story? I think the movie turned out incredible. I'm glad. I think it was just enough of who I am and people got the, you know, the gist of who I, who Johnny goes. So at the end of the day, I'm cool. But I thought at one point, I felt a certain kind of way when they were shooting at one point because I said, wait a minute, they got their girlfriends, they got their brothers,
Starting point is 00:48:32 they got their sisters, they got their mamas in here. And I didn't just show up like a genie out of a bottle and just started singing. I had a family too. So, you know, and we had talked about going, we talked about going to D.C. to do so, you know, to film some of the stuff of where I come from and all of that. But unfortunately I found out later that, you know, due to the, you know, the budget and they had ran out of money, whatever the case was, I heard was a part of maybe why that got cut out. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:48:58 I was a little, you know, disturbed at one point too about that. Cause I'm going, Hey, what am I going to tell my mama and my brothers? And okay., you know, everybody else's family's in the movie, but mine's. So, you know, but I never heard from anybody to really,
Starting point is 00:49:12 well, they never heard from me to, we never talked to really understand what that felt like for me. So I just said, you know what? It's the movie. You guys going to do what y'all going to do. I'll step back. Well, I'm glad it turned out great.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Yeah, I am too. And I hope y'all, I can't wait to see y'all tour again. Absolutely. But you're on tour now. Well, I'm glad it turned out great. Yeah, I am too. And I hope y'all, I can't wait to see y'all tour again. Absolutely. But you're on tour now. Yeah, I'm on tour now with Fantasia, Uncle Charlie, and myself. And it's like, man, as soon as the show starts, it
Starting point is 00:49:35 just goes, it skyrockets and it never falls down. It's just a night of just, I mean, that's just real entertainment where we just kind of just, everybody comes bringing the A-game. But it's like, Uncle Charlie, he, I mean, that's just real entertainment where we just kind of just, everybody comes bringing the A game. But it's like Uncle Charlie, he, I mean, God, he's hitting 60, I mean, a little over 60 maybe. But he, man, he comes with fire. And then, you know, my baby Fantasia.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Ooh. She brings it, man. So it's just a night of just entertainment where grown folks, you can just come out and it's a great, incredible show. The grandma will be there. That's Cleveland. Really? Yeah, that's a crowd. Well, we appreciate you joining us.
Starting point is 00:50:13 Man, thanks for having me. Yes, sir. Thanks for having me. It's Johnny Gill. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. I just want to fill people in, you know,
Starting point is 00:50:25 because sometimes you don't see, well, you can't see what's happening behind the scenes. But during the mini-mix, when I played Ma, Ma, Ma, Charlamagne was up here slow dancing. Who was Charlamagne? That's you. Slow dancing with who? You tell me who you was slow dancing with.
Starting point is 00:50:40 I don't know. He was slow dancing. I didn't even see. I didn't see that either. He was slow dancing up here. Man, Envy, you got to stop doing shrooms in between breaks, man,
Starting point is 00:50:46 and coming in here hallucinating. Yeah, I... You might imagine me slow dancing to my mom. I ain't imagine you slow dancing.
Starting point is 00:50:51 You ain't see me slow dancing to my mom. All right. Revolt's got it, so if you got Revolt, I'm sure they'll show it. Okay, well, nobody's going to see it then.
Starting point is 00:50:58 I'm fine with that. If that's what it's going to be seen, I'm fine with that. Okay. My goodness. Let's get to the rumors. I'm fine with that. Okay. My goodness. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Queen Latifah.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Listen up. It's just in. All the gossip. Gossip. The Rumor Report. Gossip. With Angela Yee. It's the Rumor Report.
Starting point is 00:51:15 The Breakfast Club. Well, Queen Latifah recently did an interview with Insta Magazine, and Tracee Ellis-Ross was actually interviewing her, and one of the questions that she asked her was what was the most difficult role of her career, her toughest career decision. Well, according to Queen Latifah, what do you think it was?
Starting point is 00:51:34 Um, let's see. Well, Queen Latifah's toughest role. I don't know. I don't know. Queen Latifah seems to, like, do a lot of her roles with ease. She said it was a decision to play Cleo instead at all. Oh, stop it. But said it was a decision to play Cleo and set it off. Oh, stop it. But Cleo was lesbian, right?
Starting point is 00:51:47 Stop it. Queen Latifah. Stop it, Queen. She's trolling. Stop it. Well, according to Queen Latifah, she said it was because of the stigmas attached to gay characters in the African-American community.
Starting point is 00:51:57 She said, when I got the role of amateur bank robber Cleo Sims and set it off, I sat down with my younger siblings and told them, listen, I'm playing a gay character. Your classmates might tease you or say negative things about it, but I'm doing it because I believe I can bring positive attention to the gay African American community
Starting point is 00:52:14 and I believe I can do a great job as an actor. Isn't that more of a male stigma, though? Like, most men would probably feel like, oh, man, I'm playing a gay role and go have to tell all their friends and family I'm playing a gay role. I don't know if that's actually a woman stigma. But she killed it, regardless. She killed it.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Yeah, she did. Great decision. Some would say she was typecasting. Alright. Now Magic Johnson is going to be returning to LA as an advisor to the Lakers to help rebuild the Lakers. He's going to be an advisor to the team's owner. And part of the things, one of the main things he's going to do is bring back somebody to
Starting point is 00:52:51 help the team win. And who is that person? He said, first call I make if I'm in charge. Kobe Bryant. Absolutely. Kobe Bryant. Without question. He said, Kobe understands winning.
Starting point is 00:53:01 He understands these players. I would call what role you want. If you've got a day, just give me that day. I'll take that. Whatever time he has, I want him to come and be a part of it. So he said that on ESPN's first week. And Kobe still can relate to the younger guys. Because he's only, what, not even a year out of the league.
Starting point is 00:53:16 And most of the younger guys probably look up to him. And they respect him. Exactly. A lot of them respect Kobe more than they respect Magic. That's because Kobe was the guy that was, what, the generation before him? Yeah, right, yeah. They still were watching him. All right, Ashton Kutcher was talking to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
Starting point is 00:53:32 and the main issue was sex slavery. How do we end sex slavery? Well, Ashton Kutcher also talks about different things that he's done and seen as far as being the chairman and the co-founder of Thorn, which is a company that actually fights human trafficking. They built software for that. They're fighting the sexual exploitation of children. And he also
Starting point is 00:53:54 of course has two children, himself a two month old and a two year old. So here's what Ashton Kutcher had to say about why he's so passionate about this. I've seen video content of a child that's the same age as mine being raped by an American man that was a sex tourist in Cambodia. And this child was so conditioned by her environment that she thought she was engaging in play. I'm not watching that video.
Starting point is 00:54:20 I couldn't watch that either. I'll just take your word for it. I'll take your word for it and fight for the cause. I'm not watching that video. Can you imagine? No, I can't watch that either. I'll just take your word for it. That's disgusting. I'll take your word for it and fight for the cause, but I'm not watching that video. Can you imagine? No, I can't. How terrible. I mean, he told several different stories that were heartbreaking,
Starting point is 00:54:32 and so I think it's really important. So what's the technology aspect got? Is it like they're going to start putting chips in kids, or what are they going to do? No, the software is actually because they can see, like, when people are putting these things online, because they have that whole thing called the dark web, which is basically people putting up underage videos. Yeah, child pornography.
Starting point is 00:54:50 I couldn't watch that. I couldn't even say, let me watch it to see. No, no, no. And he also talks about just different tools that they have. He said they created this tool called Spotlight, and that helps police cut investigation time by 60%. So he said that's his day job. He's really trying to help the police and aid them in finding these sex traffickers and these child pornographers and all of that.
Starting point is 00:55:12 And he says sometimes people call him and it's a last resort. They can't find these perpetrators. They watched a 7-year-old girl that was being sexually abused for three years and could not find the perpetrator. And he says sometimes we're the last line of defense for these people. Well, here's what Senator John McCain had to say about Ashton Kutcher coming through and actually helping with these investigations. I also want to thank Elisa and Ashton.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Ashton, we're better looking in the movies. It was a little one lighthearted moment. You said that after talking about human trafficking? It was a one lighthearted moment. Trying to lighten the mood when it comes to discussing human trafficking? Ashley Cooch and then blew a kiss at him. Wow. So he wanted to be
Starting point is 00:55:51 human trafficked by John McCain is what he's saying. No, they just had a little fun moment in the midst of all this. You gotta understand, John McCain is 137 years old. At that age, you hate on any man younger than you. When you get to that age and you suffer from erectile dysfunction, you mad at anyone who can still get a hard on. Goodness gracious. Alright, well I'm Angela Yee
Starting point is 00:56:07 and that's your Rumor Report. Alright, thank you Miss Yee. Charlamagne, say the gang don't get out of shape. Charlamagne! You are a donkey. It's time for Donkey of the Day. Donkey of the Day does not discriminate. I might not have
Starting point is 00:56:23 the song of the day, but I got the donkey of the day. So if you ever feel I need to be a donkey man, hit it with the day. Donkey of the day does not discriminate. I might not have the song of the day, but I got the donkey of the day. So if you ever feel I need to be a donkey man, hit it with the heat. It's the Breakfast Club, bitches. Who's donkey of the day today? Yes, donkey of the day for Thursday, February 16th goes to a young man named Leonard. I have no
Starting point is 00:56:39 clue who Leonard is. Never heard of him until he started trending on Twitter along with the hashtag Hurt Bay. Now, I did some investigating and I went to this article on the Huffington Post titled This Man Cheated on His Girlfriend and the internet is absolutely fuming. Now, the first thing I thought to myself was, hey,
Starting point is 00:56:56 dudes get caught cheating every day, B. Who gives a damn? What y'all mad at Leonard for? You know, was all of y'all in a relationship with Leonard and you're mad he cheated on every single one of you? Because I could not understand why somebody was trending just because they cheated. But then I went and watched this video of lame-ass
Starting point is 00:57:12 Leonard and his girlfriend, Courtney. Now, this video was courtesy of thescene.com. It's six minutes long. The video was Leonard and Courtney sitting down, facing each other, and Leonard is spilling his guts to Courtney, confessional style, as they sit around and discuss their former relationship
Starting point is 00:57:29 from beginning, middle, and end. Now, all Courtney did was cry. Oh, so heartbreaking. All she did was cry. And all lame-ass Leonard did was twist the knife the more she cried. Would you like to hear it? Here it go. What did you do?
Starting point is 00:57:44 I did everything. Like what? I had What did you do? I did everything. Like what? I had sex with other girls. I did everything. I would go through his phone and I would like see text messages or like pictures of girls and then I would ask him about it. And sometimes he would lie and just say like, oh, that's not not true you don't know what you're talking about one time i went to his room and he had someone else in his room and he told me to leave and i went back to my room and i just cried there was kind of a point where things weren't the same what do you mean just like you would always go through my phone or my computer. Yeah, I didn't trust you. If you would go to that measure to find whatever, why wouldn't you just
Starting point is 00:58:33 leave? How many times did you cheat on me? I wasn't counting. It had more to do with me just not being able to commit. There's nothing that you could have done differently that I think would have prevented it. I think that you did everything that you needed to do to be a good girlfriend. I was lucky to have someone like you. I apologize for hurting you, and I hope in the future we can remain good friends
Starting point is 00:59:04 and I get a chance to see you grow into the woman that you're becoming. Nigga, please. You cannot say that word, man. Well, listen, I have all kinds of issues with this clip, okay? And this is one of those moments where I just take a deep breath, click the heels on my Tims three times, say deadass and facts to myself and use
Starting point is 00:59:25 the opportunity to teach. Okay. First of all, my brothers, the cheat and not get caught is always the method because it's not the cheating that gets the guy in trouble. It's the getting caught. Okay. Congregation, did you hear what I just said? It's not the cheating that hurts your girl's feelings. It's not the cheating that breaks your girl's heart. It's not the cheating that gets you in trouble, young man. It's the getting caught. What your girl don't know, Canton won't hurt her. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it,
Starting point is 00:59:48 does it make a sound? If Nick Cannon drops a rap album, Beyonce style tomorrow, and nobody cares, nobody listens, would the rhymes on it whack? The answer is probably yes,
Starting point is 00:59:57 but you understand the point I'm trying to make. The point is, if I don't listen to how whack Nick Cannon raps, you know, then I can never call him whack. If you never get caught cheating,
Starting point is 01:00:04 then your girl can never call you a cheater. You see the logic? Oh, it's brilliant. Leonard, Leonard, Leonard, do you not know the rules of engagement when your woman is misled? Okay. And listening to the fake news about you cheating. Okay. And by fake news, I mean the text messages, pictures that the girl sent or anything else you may receive from another woman.
Starting point is 01:00:22 All right, Leonard, only one thing you need to remember. If you do indeed find yourself in an unfortunate situation, deny, deny, deny. Okay? I don't care that Courtney walked in and caught you red-handed with another woman. You look her dead in the eyes and tell her, wake up. You're dreaming. All right?
Starting point is 01:00:43 You really need to get that sleepwalking thing checked out. Okay? Your woman catch you with another girl, you have to blame it on the media. The media? This is fake news. Tell her the Russians hacked your penis. Tell her this woman that she's looking at is what you call an alternative thought. Y'all are engaging in alternative fornication.
Starting point is 01:00:59 None of this is the truth. It's not a fact. It's not even real. It's a figment of your imagination. Okay? This is why all you fools need to go buy your woman a copy of Don Miguel Ruiz's The Fifth Agreement. Okay? Listen to me. Everybody always gets The Four Agreements. That's a great read. But it's a sequel called The Fifth Agreement.
Starting point is 01:01:14 And The Fifth Agreement is be skeptical but listen. Okay? The Fifth Agreement uses doubt as a tool to discern the truth. Okay? Doubt takes us behind the words we hear to the underlying real message, our intent. By being skeptical, we don't believe every message we hear, and we don't put our faith in lies. We quickly move beyond emotional drama
Starting point is 01:01:31 and the feeling of victimization. So when you buy your woman this book, and she catches you cheating red-handed, butt-naked in the pom-pom, she will stop and analyze the situation. If you tell her it's not what it looks like, she may believe you, Lynette, okay? Because she's being skeptical, but listening. So if you get caught red-handed cheating, looks like, she may believe you, Leonard, okay? Because she's being skeptical but listening. So if you get caught red-handed cheating
Starting point is 01:01:47 and your woman is being skeptical but listening, since she's listening, since you got her ear, tell her you got drugged and raped, okay? Pass out as soon as she walks into the room. Don't move, okay? Wake up and tell her, call the police. On the alternative thought, okay, you're with at the moment. I'm trying to tell you, Leonard, a.k.a. Lenny Loudpacks on Twitter, deny, deny, deny.
Starting point is 01:02:09 Only reason a man should be confessing to any cheating is if he's married to one of the greatest artists ever. And you know she can turn those lemons into a lemonade album. Okay, other than that, all you're doing is making the block hot, Leonard. You know why? Because the truth is, men don't cheat. And I don't like the false narrative, the alternative facts that Scene.com is putting in people's mind with this video of Leonard and Kourtney. Okay? Clearly two paid actors that are reading a script reinforcing the negative stereotypes of men being low down, good for nothing, cheating dogs who can't help but get caught.
Starting point is 01:02:41 It's disgusting. All right? And a misrepresentation of men everywhere. And Leonard, we hate you for participating in this video. Because once again, men don't cheat. And let's just hypothetically say, if this Leonard and Courtney video is real, then Leonard, you should be
Starting point is 01:02:56 embarrassed for breaking the rules of adultery. And I just explained them to you. Number one, don't get caught. And number two, if you happen to find yourself in an unfortunate situation, deny, deny, deny. Please give lame-ass Leonard the biggest hee-haw, please. I don't know about that, Leonard. Out here got us looking crazy this morning.
Starting point is 01:03:15 Now, let me ask you this. Would you give Issa Rae on Insecure on that final episode that same advice? Deny, deny, deny. Issa Rae. Yeah, she should have denied. When she got caught cheating. She should have. But you know why she can't deny?
Starting point is 01:03:29 Because we all saw it. Because it was an HBO TV show. And we all watched her get smutted out in the studio. He didn't see it. And we watched Lawrence be a good man and deny, deny, deny other vagina he could have had. Okay? But always remember to cheat and not get caught. See that double standard? To cheat and not get caught. That is the method. I've been telling y'all for years. Okay? But always remember to cheat and not get caught. See that double standard?
Starting point is 01:03:45 To cheat and not get caught. That is the method. Been telling y'all for years. Okay? You got to treat cheating. How about don't cheat like you were saying the other day? There you go. How about just don't cheat?
Starting point is 01:03:52 That too. Don't cheat. Because men don't cheat. You're right. You did the right thing. Sometimes you got to express your feelings. I'm just hypothetically speaking. If you do cheat.
Starting point is 01:03:59 Should you find yourself in that situation? Yes. You treat cheating like you're a black man who is a two-time felon and you're driving a car with 10 kilos and a dead white woman in the trunk. You can't afford to get caught. You treat cheating like you're a black man who's a two-time felon and you're driving a car with 10 kilos and a dead white woman in the trunk. You can't afford to get caught. You know how cautious you would be driving that car? Alright. That's how you be if you decide to be one of these men
Starting point is 01:04:13 who cheat. You'd be too cautious and get caught. Because men don't cheat. Alright. Well, thank you for that donkey today. Okay. This guy here. Askey. 800-585-1051. Leonard, you might want to call Angela Yee if you need some help. 800-585-1051. Leonard, you might want to call Angela Yee if you need some help. 800-585-1051. If you need relationship advice, call her right now.
Starting point is 01:04:30 It's The Breakfast Club. Come on in. The Breakfast Club. Breakfast Club. We're in the middle of ASCII. Hey, this is Vine from Detroit. What up, dog? What up, dog?
Starting point is 01:04:42 Shout out to the D. What's good? What's your question for Yeezy? Nothing. Okay, well, I'm from Detroit. What up, dog? What up, dog? Shout out to the D. What's good? What's your question for Yeezy? Okay, well, I'm from Detroit. My baby daddy, he's from Bedstock, Brooklyn. That's where I live.
Starting point is 01:04:53 Okay, but I don't like them. I don't like them right now because I was trying to find them up in Atlanta City or whatever. We were making our money or whatever. And then this a**hole is up
Starting point is 01:05:05 with my money for Calcanteco and with Calcanteco with another chick with my money. Wait, slow down, slow down, slow down. So, you guys were
Starting point is 01:05:13 in Atlantic City. Y'all was making money together. What were you guys doing? I was tricking folks. Okay, so you're an escort, a prostitute? Yeah,
Starting point is 01:05:23 well, something like that. I was just getting money. We was doing everything to get money, basically. You know, I like to get money or whatever. So he's a parent. But at the end of it, basically, and at the end of it, well, he do a little bit of everything. I'm just saying like that. He do a little bit of everything.
Starting point is 01:05:38 He touch his hands and do a little bit of everything. He was making money again, and I was making money as well. He went to Turkey and take us where I was pregnant and told me I was in a way. I'm in a way. So I did, and I robbed his ass. So wait, hold on, hold on. You robbed your pimp? I robbed my baby daddy now. He's my baby daddy.
Starting point is 01:05:55 What'd you take? What'd you take? I took two Rolex watches. I took a Chanel bag. I took whatever I took. His other big mama took the fake. We was planning up the damn condo and the neighbors didn't say nothing because they saw me always in and out. What size are those Rolexes?
Starting point is 01:06:11 Shut up, Envy. I'm sorry. So you robbed your baby daddy along with his other baby mom? Yeah. And she don't like me because I caught her watching to give her half up. But it's just the point that he want me to move out there. How can I life
Starting point is 01:06:27 together? You know what I'm saying? I work a freaking lot of homes. This is the old shenanigans. I'm going to school or whatever. And now he's telling me he ain't taking care of my son unless I pay him. So he's not going to take care of
Starting point is 01:06:44 the child you guys have together unless you pay him? Yep. Isn't that his job to kind of pay to take care of his own child? He said he can't take care of my son unless I take care of the family. And I told him, I said, no, I'm not about to do that. And then now it's tax season. He's talking, I don't know how to manage money. And he's trying to get my money. No, I'm not about to give you my
Starting point is 01:07:08 money. I'm not about to give you my money. I'm broke. There's a lot going on here. Yeah, he just bought a $60,000 truck. Talk about he's broke. Okay, I think you gotta sort these things out. Number one, first and foremost, for the sake of
Starting point is 01:07:23 your child, right? You're not trying to be with him, are you? I don't know. Okay, I think you got to sort these things out. Number one, first and foremost, for the sake of your child, right? Uh-huh. You're not trying to be with him, are you? I don't know. You don't know. So, in a way, you are. You want to get back together with him. I just want to get some money.
Starting point is 01:07:35 I was getting money. This is the only time you're going to get my money. That's the only time I want to get my money. Hey. Because you don't want to make money. Hey, boo, all money ain't good money, though, right? Sure. It's hard out here.
Starting point is 01:07:47 I need some money, but... I'm just saying, don't you want to be there for your child and be a good example and a role model and make sure nothing happens to you and you don't go to jail or something worse happens? Yeah, that's the only thing. That's in the way. You know what I'm saying? I was like, you know, I can't be doing all that because I can't get locked up. You know what I'm saying? I've never been to jail.
Starting point is 01:08:07 And you will get locked up at some point. And I don't think jail's for me. I'm sitting up here for eight hours. I don't think it's for you either. Listen, I think that, in my own opinion, I think that you should be happy that you managed to get away from this man
Starting point is 01:08:23 that was a pimp and doing everything else because that was just going to go down the wrong path for you. Listen, we all want to get money, right? But sometimes you've got to sacrifice and go through periods of time that we're not making that much money so that later on, in the future, in a couple of years from now, you can legitimately make good money. Well, I go to law school. I'm entering to law school the year after next.
Starting point is 01:08:46 But he talking about that's in the way. I'm like, that's in the way. Why are you even listening to what he has to say about what you want to do with your life? Because he telling me I need direction. No, it sounds like somebody that's advising you to not go to school and not go to law school and saying
Starting point is 01:09:01 that that's getting in the way is actually in the way himself. It sounds like in order for him to control you, he wants to make sure that you never make something more out of your life. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Don't go back out there. He's worth it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:14 You got everybody telling me don't go back out there. All right. Well, I'm telling you, don't go back out there. He's trying to persuade me and talk about we're going to get this nice ass house and play and all this stuff. But he's lying. I don't know. And you know he mess with mad other chicks, too.
Starting point is 01:09:29 Oh, of course. And he's telling them the same thing. He brought me to his other chicks. He ain't no liar. He's going to let me know what it is right then and there. He ain't about the sugar coat. Nothing. Okay.
Starting point is 01:09:40 That's the only thing. And you're okay with that? Yeah. I mean, I don't like being in on it. I don't like it. I'm going to tell you something right now that? Yeah, I mean, I'm not even in on it. I'm going to tell you something right now. We always say, well, at least he ain't lying. Well, at least he kept it real. At least he's upfront about it.
Starting point is 01:09:51 These other dudes out here be lying. No, it's not at least that. It's not okay for somebody to do stuff like that to you just because they're being honest about it? Yeah, you're right. But, I mean, I prefer somebody to tell me the truth. I'd rather... How about you would rather somebody not do that? No, it was a mean one.
Starting point is 01:10:08 The Department said I'd rather go to Dubai and get cheated on than stay right here in Jordan and get cheated on. And it's true. You got to expect better for yourself and have better expectations for yourself. How about be with somebody that doesn't do those things, that's not bringing you to other women's houses, that's not cheating on you, that helps you take care of your family, that supports you and wants you to go to school and do better for your life?
Starting point is 01:10:30 Why can't you find somebody like that? Man, that's some square stuff, though. Like, these guys out here, they want you to give them money, and they ain't doing nothing for you. At least, I mean... Listen, forget about them doing something for you. What about you doing something for yourself? I mean, I can do something for myself. I got my own...
Starting point is 01:10:49 All right, good. Well, you keep your own-ish and take care of your child and handle that. Instead of thinking about getting this fast money, think about securing a bag for later on in the future, having a foundation, having your education together, so you can do and be anything you want to be in life. Yeah, you're right. I'm going to take that advice. Y'all have a good day.
Starting point is 01:11:10 Alright, you too. I hope she don't call him right now. Alright, Askey, I don't even know what went on in that call, but if you deciphered it and figured it out, I'm happy. It was just madness. 800-585-1051. If you need help.
Starting point is 01:11:25 But we got rumors on the way. Yes, let's talk about the Grammys. They are responding to all this controversy over Beyoncé now winning for Album of the Year. Also, let's talk about R&B diss tracks, okay? Who is dissing who? Okay, all that and more. Keep it locked.
Starting point is 01:11:40 It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Love, Tory Lanez. This is The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Love. Tory Lanez. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy Angela Yee. Charlamagne Tha God.
Starting point is 01:11:51 We are The Breakfast Club. Hey, salute to everybody in MCC 5, man. The correctional facility. My guy, Tax Stone, was happening. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. You listen in the morning? Yes, they do, actually.
Starting point is 01:12:04 They listen every morning from MCC 5 South. MCC 5 South, by the way. Shout out to everybody in all the jails that listen to us. Definitely appreciate it. We get a lot of letters up here sometimes, a lot of love from people that are locked up. We definitely appreciate this. Yeah, jail is different now. They got emails and text messages.
Starting point is 01:12:18 Remember Envy had somebody draw a nice picture of him? They drew a picture of Envy naked. They did. Yeah, I remember that. They did. And it used to hang up on the wall. Where is it? It was not naked.
Starting point is 01:12:26 It was inappropriate. You used to always get caught on camera. Like, why is this random picture of him naked? It was a good picture, though.
Starting point is 01:12:33 You know what? Anyway, let's get to the rumors. Let's talk The Weeknd. This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee. Rumor has it. On The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:12:44 So listen up. Well, people are speculating that this song that The Weeknd is on is taking some shots at Justin Bieber. The song is called Some Way. And here is what The Weeknd is saying on there. So they're trying to say that's... He said a fork in his tongue. His F, yeah. He got a fork tongue? No.
Starting point is 01:13:15 He's sick. They had to bleep that out, clearly, because he's saying something that's a curse word. But anyway, there's been some back and forth. Justin Bieber gets really irritated if you ask him about The Weeknd. Obviously, Selena Gomez was the love of Justin Bieber's life. The Weeknd is now dating her.
Starting point is 01:13:29 So people are feeling like that's some shots. And then it doesn't help that Selena Gomez put out a song the very next day. And she hasn't been on anything in quite some time. So she has this song, It Ain't Me. Check it out. Somewhere along the lines, we stopped seeing eye to eye. You were staying out all night and I had enough. Check it out. I can't tell you how much I don't care. I don't know what's going on right now.
Starting point is 01:14:05 Well, what's going on is The Weeknd is now dating Selena Gomez. I knew that. That's Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend. Okay. So then The Weeknd put out this song, and then the very next day, Selena Gomez puts out this song, and people are feeling like these lyrics are directed toward her ex, Justin Bieber. Oh! They had a lot of back and forth. Oh, got it now.
Starting point is 01:14:18 Somewhere along the lines, we stopped seeing eye to eye. You were staying out all night, and I had enough. Okay. So. That's lame. Thank you for clarifying. What's Okay. Thank you for clarifying. What's lame? This record stuff is whack. Why?
Starting point is 01:14:29 But don't you think people should write songs from what's going on in their own life and it makes you relate to it more? Because then you'd be like, oh, okay, I know what she's talking about. That happened to me too. I just thank you for clarifying and reassuring me that I really don't give a damn. Well, that's what a lot of people do. That's why it's been in all the blog sites and everything.
Starting point is 01:14:46 All right. Now, Beyonce, the beehive, is mad at Carlos Santana. And that is because of some things that he had to say about Adele beating out Beyonce for Album of the Year at the Grammys. He said, Adele is a singer. Beyonce is a model, basically. And people went crazy on him after that, of course, in The Beehive. And he has since had to correct himself
Starting point is 01:15:07 and clarify what he meant by that. He said, I would like to clarify a comment that was reported when I was doing an interview for some upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand. My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the Grammys. My comment about Beyonce was regretfully
Starting point is 01:15:23 taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way. I wish Beyonce and her family all the best. How can it be taken out of context? You said that you think she's not a good singer. She's more of a model. How is that taken out of context? Well, he didn't say she's not
Starting point is 01:15:40 a good singer. He just said Adele's a singer. Beyonce is a model, but that does insinuate that she doesn't have the same credentials of being a singer or the same vocal abilities. Stand by your opinion. See, I don't like people like that. If you say something and you feel that way, stand by it. I know the beehive is ferocious on him and attacks you, but so stand by your opinion. Now, nobody can take you serious, Carlos Santana.
Starting point is 01:16:02 Well, he has since said that. So we'll see what happens, but I know that Beehive is still going in. Now, let's talk about the Grammys, because we all know there was so much controversy over Adele winning over Beyonce. So now, the chairman of the Recording Academy has spoken.
Starting point is 01:16:18 Neil Portnow, he's the chairman and CEO of the Recording Academy, and he is saying that the Grammys have made some efforts to diversify its ranks in terms of ethnicity and age. He said, you don't get to this point without a diverse and relevant voting membership. And you can see the five most nominated artists were Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna, Drake, and Chance the Rapper.
Starting point is 01:16:39 He said, it's more about personal taste. So it's hard for me to criticize when we see no basis that the results are about anything other than music and certainly not race. He says that we have come a long way as an organization. We're certainly not complacent or satisfied with where we are, but we also need the participation of the communities to do more.
Starting point is 01:16:56 That's how democracy works. It's not a democracy. It's a bunch of culturally clueless people. Well, Terrace Martin, who was also nominated for Best R&B Album, and he's also a Grammy voter, said, When I go to recording academy events, I'm the only one there with tattoos on my neck. I'm trying to get my friends to vote. Everybody acts like they don't give
Starting point is 01:17:12 an F about the Grammys until the Grammys come around. That is a fact. We gotta vote. That is true. We have to find out how to get in there and vote because everybody else is voting. We need to vote for our own. Yeah, you need more people that have a clue about the culture in these positions. When you have a clue about the culture, then you can make the proper decision. So in closing, Nailport now has said, I understand people might feel left out, but it's really simple.
Starting point is 01:17:30 Participate and vote, and then you're part of the conversation. Does my vote count, though? Yeah. Hopefully it does. Is it an electoral college at the Grammys? No, I'm sure it counts. I actually have been invited to be a part of the voting committee, So maybe you have to pay like a fee, a membership fee. I don't care.
Starting point is 01:17:46 It's not a lot. I think it's like $100 or something. No, I refuse. I don't care. And then you're part of the voting. $100 is a lot of money. I only spent $67. And when you get nominated, you're part of the committee.
Starting point is 01:17:53 Then you can't complain. If you don't want to pay $100 to vote and then possibly vote. I don't complain. I tell you all the time, the Grammys are clueless. When people show me who they are, I believe them. Okay? They showed me who they are a long time ago. Tupac ain't got no Grammy.
Starting point is 01:18:06 Biggie ain't got no Grammy. Public Enemy ain't got no Grammy. Big Pun. Pun ain't got no Grammy. I don't know. Nas ain't got no Grammy. Nas ain't got no Grammy. Like, come on.
Starting point is 01:18:14 All right, I'm Angela Yee, and that's your rumor report. I'm truly clueless. Thank you, Miss Yee. Had enough of this country? Ever dreamt about starting your own? I planted the flag. This is mine. I own this.
Starting point is 01:18:25 It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Or maybe not. No country willingly gives up their territory. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Listen to Escape from Zakistan.
