Episode Date: January 22, 2021

Starting point is 00:01:42 Hall of Famers. So honored to be in the presence of Radio Royalty. It's the world's most dangerous morning show, Thank you. Probably the greatest. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. Good morning, Angela Yee. Good morning, DJ Ambien. Charlamagne Tha God. Peace to the planet. It's Friday. Yes, it's Friday. That's right.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Did y'all enjoy yourselves last night? I know y'all watched the Keisha Cole, Ashanti versus. Did y'all watch it? Yes, I did. Yes, I watched that. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Keisha Cole and Ashanti have contributed so much to black radio. I hate the word urban, but black radio.
Starting point is 00:02:49 To culture, absolutely. If you grew up, well, of course, we're a radio personality, but I've been doing radio for 20 plus years. If you ever had to do the overnights, like that midnight to five in the morning shift. Okay, you ever had to do a quiet storm, even if you didn't have to do a quiet storm. You know so much Keisha Cole and Ashanti just because they used to play constantly. Constantly. Now, what time did it start? Because I kept coming back and forth, and then I ended up watching the Wendy Williams movie before it started.
Starting point is 00:03:15 About an hour and a half late. It was about an hour and a half late. Ashanti was about an hour late, and Ashanti rocked about 20, 30 minutes on her own, and then Keisha Cole came. So about an hour 30 late. I didn't even see all that. When I tuned in, Ashanti was sitting there by herself, and then it was Ashanti rocked about 20, 30 minutes on her own. And then Keisha Cole came. So about an hour 30 late. I didn't even see all that. When I tuned in, Ashanti was sitting there by herself. And then it was Ashanti and Bernie Sanders. And then it was Ashanti and Keisha Cole.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Stupid. I didn't even realize she was. I knew she was late, but I didn't realize she was that late. Jesus Christ. I did radio in New York as well. We didn't have a quiet storm. But we played a lot of Ashanti and a lot of Keisha Cole. So some of the music that I heard last night, I forgot about. What do you mean New York ain't had no quiet storm but you know we played a lot of ashanti and a lot of keisha cole so you know
Starting point is 00:03:45 some of the music that i i heard last night i forgot about you can't have no quiet storm von hopper the radio legend not uh hot 97 when i was on hot 97 the sister station did wv yeah yeah the sister station did yeah but uh uh like i didn't i forgot keisha cole was on the journey with sean paul no hell no come on that's one of the biggest ones. Give it up to me. I forgot. I truly forgot that was Keisha Cole on there. I forgot she was on there. No, I remember that one.
Starting point is 00:04:11 That was a nice little bop. That was a nice little bop. Let it go. When I heard Let It Go last night, man, it really made me miss outside. You know what I mean? Because that's nice happy hour, happy hour music. You know what I mean? That ain't the club.
Starting point is 00:04:22 You just had a nice little lounge somewhere having a few drinks on a Friday about 6 o'clock, 6.30. And then that let it go, come on, and you and your girl start singing.
Starting point is 00:04:31 You know what I'm saying? You need to get it if he don't want to love you the right way. He ain't gonna. Come on now. Okay. Now, was there
Starting point is 00:04:40 a winner of the battle? There's never a winner to these battles. Honestly, because the reason there's never a winner to these battles is because both of these, usually both of the people in Versus have catalog and they have legacy. And it's like, there's really no winner. You just enjoy it.
Starting point is 00:04:53 But people be thinking, which round did this person win? Eh, that's just for... Quote unquote win. That's just for feces and giggles. Because I can't say the sugar honey iced tea on the radio. Yeah, but if it was for round for round, I think Ashanti won, in my opinion, last night. Nah, I can't say the sugar honey iced tea on the radio. Yeah, but if it was for round for round, I think Ashanti won, in my opinion, last night. I can't say that. You just said it's not winning.
Starting point is 00:05:10 That's what I'm saying. That's why I can't say that. I wouldn't say that. Keisha had some joints. Keisha went deep. They both went deep. They actually went deeper than I thought they could go. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:05:19 I enjoyed it. I thought that was dope. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Shout out to Swiss, Timberlake, Larry Jackson. I mean, it was a great, great show. I wish they would have been together, but I'm sure for reasons, probably COVID, they couldn't be together. And the sound was trash. And did anybody call and see what Ja Rule thought about the sound?
Starting point is 00:05:34 Because that's what I was really wondering the whole night. What does Ja Rule think about this sound? I was wondering what OT Genesis thought about the sound. And I'm surprised OT Genesis came through because, you know, OT Genesis, Akeesha Cole were going back and forth for years. It didn't seem like they were cool, cool. But it was like, I'm just dealing with you right now. But I thought that was great. I loved it.
Starting point is 00:05:51 And they respected OT Genesis set because they had the Cool Ranch bag of Doritos, the blue bag of Doritos. That's stupid. With Akeesha. You know what I mean? The red with a shanty was great. You're stupid. I really thought about that.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Really coordinated. Well, let's get the show cracking. Front page news up next. What are we talking about? Coronavirus. Let's get the show cracking. Front page news up next. What are we talking about? Coronavirus. Let's talk about it. Biden has a new plan based on science not politics. You sure you want to talk about coronavirus, G? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:06:13 It's a real thing, clearly. Speaking of coronavirus, I tested a negative. My second test came back yesterday so I was going to come in this morning but I overslept. But we good money over here. And Front Page News is next. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get in some Front Page News. Where we start? Well, yesterday was President Biden's first full day in office. And the first thing that he did was to roll out his national strategy to get the coronavirus pandemic under control. Now, one thing that he did was start with a national vaccination campaign. I was telling you yesterday that there was nothing in place. So they had to start from scratch. And here's what he said. We directed FEMA to start standing up the first federally
Starting point is 00:06:59 supported community vaccination centers with the goal of standing up 100 centers within the next month. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will launch the federal pharmacy program to make vaccines available to communities and their local pharmacies beginning in very early February. We'll also test the Department of Health and Human Services to prepare and expand the pool of medical professionals who can administer the vaccine. Yeah, I mean, I'm not mad at any of that simply because there was no mandates or anything before. And nobody could do the right thing on their own. So now I have to tell you what to do. Sadly, that's what has to happen to you Americans because y'all don't listen. All right. Now, President Biden also said the next thing he wants to do is make sure he does that mandate for wearing face masks and also put together something that has to do with international travel for people coming into the country. Yesterday, I signed an executive action that requires mask and social distancing on federal property. Today, we'll be signing an additional executive
Starting point is 00:08:05 action to extend masking requirements on interstate travel, like on trains, planes, and buses. And, in addition to wearing masks, everyone flying to the United States from another country will need to test before they get on that plane, before they depart and quarantine when they arrive in America. Well, once again, I'm not mad at any of those mandates. Y'all fools don't listen. We tried to get y'all to do the right thing on your own, but you didn't. So now you got to get these mandates. Now, Dr. Fauci, according to Biden, will be seeing a lot more of Dr. Fauci. And Dr. Fauci did say that he does feel liberated now working for Joe Biden. He said, as you know, you know, if you don't know the answer, don't guess. Just say you don't know
Starting point is 00:08:51 the answer. That's what Dr. Fauci had to say when it comes to coronavirus. And he said getting back to facts and letting the science speak for itself and approaching the pandemic is a liberating feeling. Yeah. Dr. Fauci also he disputed the reports that the the vaccine efforts are starting from scratch he said that's not true he said biden's vaccine rollout is not starting from scratch which it shouldn't be they've had months and months and months and months and months of uh data and information and like they they got a vaccine so they're not starting from scratch now joe biden has also reversed donald trump's move to leave the UN's health agency WHO and they'll fulfill its financial obligations to WHO as well so they said this is a relationship
Starting point is 00:09:33 we value deeply and will look to strengthen going forward now has the health department contacted you Anjali has your local health department contacted you because I saw Dave Chappelle tested positive for coronavirus and if we did. I'm in Atlanta and I actually am here to film something. I got tested already negative, fortunately, but I did. You post to quarantine once you're in contact with somebody who's been
Starting point is 00:09:56 exposed to coronavirus. Well, I was here already. So you should be in your room for 14 days. I am in my room. We tested already and then I test again today because i have to film on saturday and none of the people i was with so far have tested past five of them have gotten tested everybody's been negative so far if we did contact tracing on dave chappelle angela you've absolutely been identified as a person who was close to someone who may have been exposed to covid 19 all right and i think that's
Starting point is 00:10:22 listen i think that's important because nobody anticipated that. Dave said he was feeling fine and the only reason he even knew was because they've been doing testing twice a day. Dramos is disgusting. After traveling or any
Starting point is 00:10:39 community, if you're around any bunch of people you're supposed to quarantine for four or five days and then take a test because it usually goes in your system four or five days. Did y'all do a deep clean in this studio? Angelina was in here on Tuesday, damn it. You shouldn't be in there either then. Why not? I ain't been nowhere.
Starting point is 00:10:53 I've been home. I was there. I know that. That's the problem. We told you that was the problem. Deep clean in the studio. Yeah, well, everybody in the studio should definitely double check just in case. Like, Drama should go take a test and Eddie and Dan just in case.
Starting point is 00:11:05 I contacted everybody before the news broke like all the people that travel with us like everybody please make sure you get tested and that's how I knew five of them had already gotten tested for work. Everybody's been negative. Fortunately you shouldn't have been here Tuesday. No, I trust me when I
Starting point is 00:11:22 come back out won't be well I got tested and I'm clear but no and trust me when I come back I won't be well I got tested and I'm clear but anyway get it off your chest 800-585-1051 if you need to vent call us up right now phone lines are wide open it's the breakfast club good morning
Starting point is 00:11:37 the breakfast club wake up wake up wake your ass this is your time to get it off your chest whether you're mad or blessed we want to hear from you on the breakfast club hello who's this this is jelly belly from the bean jelly belly if you don't have a big belly i'm gonna be upset um i definitely don't i don't like the jelly belly name then i want you to have a stomach like a care bear no but my initials is Jam, so they
Starting point is 00:12:05 call me Jelly. Oh. Yeah. So, I wanted to tell y'all about an experience. I had my brother yesterday. We walked into a restaurant for breakfast. We walked in. We should have known what kind of vibe it was, but, you know, we were hungry. And we sat there. Two men come
Starting point is 00:12:21 in. You could tell they were more than likely white supremacists because my brother and I were sitting, like, adjacent to their table. And they was having a conversation with the owner. And that conversation was very interesting. And it was like, oh, it's so nice to talk to somebody who knows what's going to do and what's going on in the world. Because if someone keyed my car today, Trump would pay for it. I was like, what is happening over here? Like, where is he?
Starting point is 00:12:45 Did he just hang up the phone and he was like, yeah, I know they kicked me out at the White House and stuff, but call me if they key your car. Who told him that? I don't know. People are real ridiculous
Starting point is 00:12:55 with idolizing people and they really need to calm down because then it starts to seem like a mental illness after a while. It is a mental illness. It's a mental illness because these people sit on social media all day
Starting point is 00:13:05 and the internet and make themselves mentally ill by taking in all this stupid inaccurate information. You know, I have my own business and I'm trying not to go the route of social media because I don't have any social media accounts. But I feel like now I'm having to be forced back into that
Starting point is 00:13:21 world and have to utilize it in a different format. Okay. Social media can be a lot, but I feel you. Well, I recommend a good book to you called Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. It shows you how to use social media and the internet for the tool
Starting point is 00:13:37 that it is. Damn, John Ross hung up right on her. He hates people. You said goodbye. You said alright. Still riding Latin for Trump. He hates people. You said goodbye. You said all right. Still riding Latin's for Trump. This is terrible. Hello, who's this? This is Brock.
Starting point is 00:13:49 How you doing? What's up? Get it off your chest. Hey, man. I just got a question and I want to know if I'm being too hard on my girl, you know?
Starting point is 00:13:58 I feel like she's cheating on me and goes out every night and come home smelling like wet. I don't know. Wet what? I don't know. Wet what? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:14:07 She always says she's going to work out and she's going to the store. And every time she come back, she just smell like shit. Really? Is that her in the back room? She had a shower after. Say that again? Are you with her now? She doesn't even.
Starting point is 00:14:20 No, I'm not with her. I'm going to get ready to go work out. Do you cheat, my brother? First of all, and be honest. I know black men don't cheat, but do you cheat? I don't. Okay, because I was going to say, if you're cheating, it might be your own guilt, your own insecurities. But if not, I don't know what to tell you. Does she look like she's been working out every night?
Starting point is 00:14:39 No, that's the thing. I don't want to just go out there and just say, you've been cheating. I just want to get ready to come clean. So why don't you just follow her one night know I don't want to just go out there and just say, you've been cheating. I just want to get rid of this. So why don't you just follow her one night? Just don't know. I mean, don't do nothing. Just, you know, just happen to be on the same road as her and, you know, see what a gym is. Just double check before you just start, you know, accusing people, bro.
Starting point is 00:14:58 You can hire a PI, too, by the way. Yeah, I can. Yeah, people do it all the time. Hire private investigators to follow their significant others to see what the hell's going on. the way yeah I can't uh yeah people do it all the time higher private investigators the father that significant others to see what the hell is going on I don't see the problem with it I think it's my neighbor Terry who damn it man his neighbor Terry well as Terry say Terry let me smell your finger I would just follow I would make sure before you like get evidence before you accuse or even ask you know like Charlamagne said hire a PI or follow yourself don't do nothing stupid because
Starting point is 00:15:36 if she is just let it go you know I mean but I would definitely um find a little more information nothing wrong being insecure, by the way. All right, brother. Good luck. We really haven't. Yes, we have. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:15:57 The Breakfast Club. Get it off your chest. It's your time to get it off your chest, whether you're mad or blessed. You better have the same energy. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? This is Jay, upstate by way of the Bronx.
Starting point is 00:16:18 I listen to you guys' show on an everyday basis. I get out of work at 3 in the morning. I shower to The Breakfast Club. I listen to the KC Crew while I'm at work. Charlemagne, I appreciate you for all you've done for people with mental health. I got anxiety, and it's been helping me. I lost my therapist during the pandemic. She didn't die from COVID, but I needed her at that time.
Starting point is 00:16:37 She passed away. I'm a single father. My lady passed away. I've been through a whole lot. I'm a single father. My daughter's 19. My brother has some slip slip ups on my own. But I'm just asking, can I get a book?
Starting point is 00:16:51 You know what I'm saying? Especially the anxiety one, the shit ones one. DJ Envy, Angel Lee, I just appreciate you guys. Y'all get me through my day. And that's for real, man. It's for real. Thank you, bro. I also want to say, Kyrie, pass the ball, man. Don't come in there and not pass the ball.
Starting point is 00:17:09 You know, you came in there yesterday. You acted a fool. You were shooting like you was Kobe Bryant. You got two other players on the team. And I just, you know, that was random. But, you know, I'm just asking, can I get a couple books, Charlamagne? I got you, King. My anxiety and things that I made you.
Starting point is 00:17:22 I'm going to put you on hold. I'm going to send you that. I'm going to send you my shookook, Win, Anxiety, Playing Tricks on Me book, but I'm also going to send you the Unapologetic Guide to Black Mental Health by Dr. Rita Walker. It's phenomenal. Alright, I appreciate that, folks. Thank you, man. Alright, brother. Hello, who's this? Jamar from
Starting point is 00:17:37 Baltimore, but reside in Dallas, Texas. What's up? What's up, brother? Get it off your chest. Hey, I'm a small black business owner. I own a trucking company with my brother, Osceola Walker, trying to figure out how to get funding for equipment. We give second chances to people that don't have a hard life and got out of prison and ain't other options. Trucking, they really don't care about your background so we you know i got a bad background and trucking saved my life and it's hard trying to get loans when you got bad credit or no credit
Starting point is 00:18:12 and what's your equipment what equipment do you need well like trailers trucks like hey that's it bro what's your credit at now oh um it's going back and forth Because I'm messing up with my credit cards But it's between like a $550 and a $590 Alright well I got a dude His name is the credit dude He'll help you with your credit But he can't make miracles happen So he can't help you and you don't pay your credit card bills bro
Starting point is 00:18:38 $550 is horrible What did he say he don't pay his bills He pays the bills late I pay them late sometimes I'll be having other I'll take kids, seven kids What did he say? He don't pay his bills. He pays the bills late. I pay them late sometimes. I'll be having other questions. I pay kids, seven kids. Like I said, I pay everything on my own.
Starting point is 00:18:51 It's just me. Those are your kids? I run a company. Those are your kids? I got five of them. My girl got two. Oh, okay. All right. And you still got to pay the credit cards. Even if you pay the minimum, you got to pay it on time because even if he goes hard and tries to fix your credit, takes inquiries off, takes everything off your credit that he needs to.
Starting point is 00:19:08 If you pay late, it's still going to continue to be effed up. So you still got to make sure you pay it on time, even if you put on auto pay and pay the minimum. Right. And the crazy part is, like, I only got like four things on my credit. And one of them is a car I bought last year for my girl. A 550 Benz. Nah, it was a kids rental. We got seven kids. We need to roll.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Wow, seven kids. His name is the credit dude. You can follow him on Instagram. We're going to put you on hold and I'm going to make sure he takes care of you, brother. I appreciate it. I want to give a shout out to Walker Bud Trucking. If y'all got to our studios and anybody trying to hire y'all,
Starting point is 00:19:45 I'll give y'all a chance. That's what I like to hear. We do sometimes get caught on a truck off an auction and we hire anybody regardless of background, as long as you're ready for a real second chance
Starting point is 00:19:55 and you like driving. I love that. It's funny. You don't pay no less than $3,000 a week and that's what we try and do out here. We try to give people a real second chance. I love that. And break that down right fast for people listening because I just,000 a week. And that's what we try and do out here. We try to give people a real second chance.
Starting point is 00:20:05 I love that. And break that down right fast for people listening, because I just invested in a truck. For people that don't know how well the trucking business does. So during the COVID, most things stopped, but the trucking business never stopped. So if you had a truck or you leased a truck, explain how you can make money,
Starting point is 00:20:19 what sites you go to, how people pick the truck to take them. Explain that so people really know how much money it is and how much trucks cost, because it's a great business if you have good credit because you can lease one yes so you can lease a truck and it don't matter about your uh sometimes it don't matter about your credit if you have enough money to put down it's great pay far as um if you own your own or you're leasing your own even even if you lease onto a big company, they pay you percentage. Rates are really high right now. I mean, they're medium, but medium is still like you're still going to make like $3,000 to $4,000 a week to take home.
Starting point is 00:20:55 You know, you're going to gross like five, six. It's really good if you start on with a company and, you know, get your experience and everything and learn the ins and outs but you can go to if you have your one do your own thing it costs about maybe two or three thousand dollars to start your own authority which allows you to run on your own and you can use apps you don't have to hire a bunch of people to find loads and you don't need a whole bunch of um they got apps out there that you can do everything you don't need this you don't need a store you don't need a store you don't need a secretary you can book your own well hold on brother because we're going to fix your credit man we're going to get your credit
Starting point is 00:21:29 right thank you alright get it off your chest how would you want to get this man credit right yeah he got to pay his bill 550 bins okay nothing you can do about that he can get it up but he still got to pay the bills though get it off your chest it just won't be as hard as it used to be
Starting point is 00:21:44 shut up man 800-585-1051 we got to pay the bills, though. Get it off your chest. It just won't be as hard as it used to be. Shut up, man. 800-585-1051. We got rumors on the way? Yes, and let's talk about Dave Chappelle testing positive for coronavirus and where people on social media think it came from. All right, we'll get to that next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Wake your ass up. Wake your ass up. Wake your ass the f*** up. Wipe the booger out your damn eye and the crust off your nasty face. This is Marlon Wayans, and I've officially joined the Breakfast Club on Power 105.1. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this.
Starting point is 00:22:30 It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition.
Starting point is 00:22:46 The Waikana tribe are in country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, guys. I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys,
Starting point is 00:23:43 and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. As a kid, I really do remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves. For self-preservation and protection. It was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love. I forgive myself. It's okay. Like grace. Have grace with yourself. You're trying your best and you're gonna figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
Starting point is 00:25:17 you get your podcasts. You know I got your rumor report. Coming up next on the breakfast club morning everybody it's dj nv angela yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club let's get to the rumors let's talk dave chappelle this is the rumor report with ang Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Well, Dave Chappelle ended up having to cancel his shows in Austin, Texas, and that's because he tested positive for COVID-19. Now, his rep did release a statement. Dave Chappelle is quarantined after testing positive for COVID. His remaining shows have been canceled and ticket holders should contact their point of purchase for refunds. Chappelle has safely conducted socially distanced shows in Ohio since June 2020,
Starting point is 00:26:08 and he moved those shows to Austin during the winter. Chappelle implemented COVID protocols, which included rapid testing for the audience and daily testing for himself and his team. His diligent testing enabled him to immediately respond by quarantining, thus mitigating the spread of the virus. Chappelle is asymptomatic. Now, I saw that Dave Chappelle was trending along with Grimes,
Starting point is 00:26:29 and Grimes is Elon Musk's girlfriend, and then they posted a picture of them together, and what people are saying is that she had tested positive for COVID and posted about it on January 9th. And so now people are thinking that's where it came from.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Have they contacted you angie because they got to do contact tracing you was in contact with dave chappelle this weekend well his team definitely did contact me and i did get tested again yesterday tested negative and i get tested again today i think we should take angie to breakfast club court this morning because she might be she might be she might be part of the problem when it comes to covid well we can't do it now but i'm just saying you want to take her to court next hour? We have to take Envy to court, too, because he's been DJing parties in Atlanta. But he comes back to New York and quarantines, Angelique.
Starting point is 00:27:12 You didn't do that. You know you're supposed to get tested. They said five days after you come back. That's what Envy does. That's what I did. But they also say you got to quarantine. You didn't do that, Angelique. I got tested.
Starting point is 00:27:23 I got my test results back yesterday, last night, actually. You was with Dave Chappelle all weekend in Austin, and then for whatever reason decided to come to the studio on Tuesday with somebody else who was with Dave Chappelle all weekend. Who? Right. Not you. Not you.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Oh. According to the CDC guidelines, when you come in state to New York City, you're supposed to self-quarantine just in case. Well, we'll do that next hour. What else we got here? All right, now we are going to talk about Donovan Mitchell. He has a one-word reply to Shaquille O'Neal, and Shaquille O'Neal had something to say to him about his game. Father, this is Shaq.
Starting point is 00:27:57 I said tonight that you are one of my favorite players, but you don't have what it takes to get to that next level. I said it on purpose. I wanted you to hear it. What do you have to say about that? All right, that's don't have what it takes to get to the next level. I said it on purpose. I wanted you to hear it. What do you have to say about that? All right. That's it. That's it? That's it.
Starting point is 00:28:11 Okay, cool. I mean, I've been hearing that since my rookie year. You know, I'm just going to get better and do what I do. Good. That's what I wanted you to hear you say. Love your game, brother. Keep it up. Appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I love that answer, man. Me too. I love it. Because I'm going to show and prove through actions and deeds, not words and lip service. There's nothing I can tell you right now to prove you wrong. I got to show you. Shaq's my guy too, but hey, I got to answer to you.
Starting point is 00:28:36 I'll show you. I'm cool. Word. I'm not going to say you don't have to answer him. You just don't have no answer. Because he's right. I'm going to bust your eyes. But what am I saying? I'm going to do better next time? No, show me. But up until this point, Donovan Mitchell hasn't shown that. So I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you better than I can tell you, Shaq. That's all.
Starting point is 00:28:52 All right. Shaq's also been hired by the sheriff's office in Georgia. He is the community relations director. What is that? They want him to help bring the community closer and bridge the gap between community and law enforcement. He's always wanted to be a police officer, though. Shaquille O'Neal. Well, I think he was a sheriff in California or Florida.
Starting point is 00:29:14 One of those, right? Yeah, he was already sworn in as a deputy previously. So they're going to be having a big press conference about that. Now let's talk about Keisha Cole and Ashanti. And we'll be discussing that this morning. Their versus battle went down last night and it didn't get off very smooth. It did start a little late. I saw Swizz was in the
Starting point is 00:29:32 comments saying this is very disrespectful. Can't lie, man. It was supposed to start at 8 p.m. It didn't start for like another hour. But then when it did finally start, of course, it was very exciting. Keisha Cole did bring out OT Genesis as a guest. OT! It did finally start. Of course, it was very exciting. Keisha Cole did bring out OT Genesis as a guest. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:49 OT! Ah! Now I'm dead. That's OT? Ah! Come here. Ah! What happened?
Starting point is 00:30:01 I'm OT! Yeah! Is it over? Now I'm dead. Much better. Much better visual, though. Yeah, much better visual. But it was dope. They didn't seem like they squashed their beef yet,
Starting point is 00:30:18 but I'm just happy that they were in the same room and they were able to do that. Ashanti and Keisha Cole had a beef? No. Keisha Cole and O.T. Genesis. Oh, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. I mean, clearly they swapped their beef if she was there. Nah, she's still a little upset. One person who did not appreciate O.T.
Starting point is 00:30:29 Genesis being there was Keisha Cole's sister. No, I'm a Keisha to the day I D.I. motherf***er me. But when you let a ****** hug you, that guy on the internet joking about selling your mama motherf***er crap, that's when I gotta take a
Starting point is 00:30:45 step back. Oh, I didn't know he did all that. Yeah, it was pretty harsh. They were back and forth, yeah. I just respect the fact that, you know, OT Genesis, who was a crip, was not in the room with the red bag of Doritos. They had Cool Ranch for Keisha set in red for Ashanti. I thought that was
Starting point is 00:31:01 good coordination. People paying attention to detail. I'm Angela Yee and that's your rumor report. Alright, we got front page news. Next, what are we talking about? Yes, and we are going to talk about diversity and, you know, Donald Trump had tried to get rid of all the diversity training in certain cases and
Starting point is 00:31:18 now Joe Biden, President Biden has brought that back. He revoked that order banning diversity training. Alright, we'll get into that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God.
Starting point is 00:31:31 We are the Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news. Where are we starting, Yee? Well, President Biden has revoked Donald Trump's order banning diversity training. The order had targeted workplace trainings that explores systemic racism and privilege. And he said that was un-American and potentially harmful to white workers. And that's why Donald Trump's administration had banned federal agencies,
Starting point is 00:31:54 contractors and recipients of federal funding from conducting that diversity training. Well, President Biden has revoked that order. And here's what he's had to say about making sure that there is racial equity. Today, I'm formalizing the Health Equity Task Force led by the brilliant Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, who ensures that is going to ensure that equality is at the core of every decision we make. That includes addressing vaccine hesitancy and building trust in communities, as well as fighting disinformation campaigns that are already underway. Above all, our plan is to restore public trust. Our plan is to restore public trust. White nigga, please.
Starting point is 00:32:36 We have hundreds and hundreds of years of data on why not to trust this government as minorities, especially black people. We'll get closer to trusting you when you atone for some of your legislation of the past. When you legalize weed federally, decriminalize it, whatever, and then let out every single person who's in prison for a nonviolent drug offense. When you let those folks go free for weed possession and distribution, things like that, that builds trust. But you can't oppress a people forever and then say, trust me.
Starting point is 00:32:58 If I cheat on a woman for years, don't apologize, don't atone for my behavior, but just tell my woman to trust me. Why should she? Why should she? Well, I think he said he's trying to start to build trust. And I'm telling him some things he can do to build trust. This is what you do to build trust. You got to you got to do some things to atone for. You got to atone for some of that legislation in the past. When you legalize weed federally, decriminalize it and then let out every single person who's in prison for a nonviolent drug offense. That's how you start to build trust after hundreds and hundreds of years of oppression yeah there's a lot of things that need to be done
Starting point is 00:33:27 still and so you got to start the work and keep it going and everybody has to make sure they keep on making demands like we've been saying it has to be big radical change too not these little baby steps these little increments of change it got to be big radical Civil Rights Act of 1964 type change. That's what needs to happen right now. Now, when it comes to more planning, here is what Biden had to say about schools. Today, we're directing the Department of Education
Starting point is 00:33:56 and the Department of Health and Human Services to immediately provide schools and communities with clear guidance and resources to safely reopen the schools and child care centers. My heart hurts for those kids. I'm not going to lie. Especially my daughter, my oldest daughter, she's 12. It's like half of her sixth grade year and which looks like all of her seventh grade year.
Starting point is 00:34:20 I mean, even though she goes to school for like an hour or two, it's just like it's just gone. You don't get that back. No, I think about it like this. gone. You don't get that back. No. And I think about it like this. I got five of them that miss school. I got a senior freshman at mid-school, my little ones. It's yesterday I see her doing jumping jacks in the middle of the living room. And I'm like, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:34:36 She was like, oh, I'm in gym. Yeah. I'm in gym. I'm like, this is this is sucks. And then they have another thing where they tell us like a scavenger hunt. They be like, go get a red pen. And they run it all over the house. I'm like, this sucks.
Starting point is 00:34:46 And, you know, middle school is like, those are like formative years. Correct. You know what I mean? And then you got the daughter of a freshman in college. Like, you missed your freshman year of college. And her senior year in high school. So she missed both of those. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:57 She missed prom. She missed all that. That's horrible, man. Yeah. All right. Now, President Biden, I didn't know this really is a real thing but there's a diet coke button in the office so it looks like he removed that and so basically every time donald trump would push the button it's a red button uh butler would appear with a coke
Starting point is 00:35:17 for the president and they said he would drink about i think like 10 of them a day. You know what drives my gears? What drives your gears? 12 of them a day. What drives your gears? Fat people who drink diet soda. You just drink water. You know what I'm saying? Like, I really can't stand that. Like, that really bothers me when I see a fat person drink a diet Coke.
Starting point is 00:35:38 And then after they've eaten something so disgusting, you know what I mean? Like, they've eaten something that's got a bunch of carbs and calories. You can wash it down with a diet soda.'s caffeine water come on whatever's in there they have to start you have to you know you have to start off slow and get yourself off of it donald trump got a busted challenge body but he freaking drinking diet coke you know i'm saying he's putting on a nice little some nice little short shorts and bust it and get off the pole my goodness okay all right well that is your front page news. All right.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Thank you so much. All right. Now, when we come back, let's open up the phone lines. 800-585-1051. We have to take one of our coworkers to Breakfast Club Court. Now, I had to go to court last week. Who's going to court today? Today, the individual is Angela Yee.
Starting point is 00:36:22 What is the case? What's on the docket? Now, last week, Angela Yee was out in Texas. She was out with Dave Chappelle and her crew. They were celebrating. They were partying. They were having a good time. But then when she got back, did she quarantine?
Starting point is 00:36:35 Did she stay away from people for the necessary amount of time? Did she get tested? No. She came to the studio on Tuesday. I did get tested. She came to the studio on Tuesday. She came to the studio Tuesday before she was cleared. She was hanging around Dramos, Dan, Taylor, Eddie, and Red.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Oh, my God. So she's taking this serious. Hold on. Hold on. You're leaving out one big piece of evidence. What is that? Dave Chappelle tested positive for coronavirus. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:37:01 Now, if we did contact Trace and Angela Yee has absolutely been identified as a person who was close to someone who may have been exposed to covid-19. And she was actually around somebody who actually did tech positive for covid-19. Has your local health department contacted you, Angelina? I don't know if you want to talk right now. You might want to wait to get your lawyer. We wait till we come back. And a CDC guideline says if you're in close contact with anybody that has affected or has have had COVID-19, you're supposed to sit for 14 days. Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, not 10, not 12, but 14. And we'll talk about it when we come back. Let's open up the phone lines and get your opinion.
Starting point is 00:37:35 800-585-1051. It is the Breakfast Club. It's the Breakfast Club. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Enj envy angela yee charlamagne the guy we got a breakfast club good morning now play the music now this morning we are in breakfast club court why are we here the reason being is angela yee for her birthday celebration last week and she had a great time she went out to texas hung out with dave chappelle donald rollings elon musk and the rest of the crew, which is
Starting point is 00:38:05 fine. No problems. But when she came back, when she came back, did she quarantine? No. She decided to come to work on that Tuesday, putting the lives of Tramos, Dan, Eddie, Taylor. Yes, she didn't do what she was supposed to do. CDC guidelines
Starting point is 00:38:22 says if you are traveling, especially at a high-risk state like Texas, Florida, or Atlanta, you must quarantine and wait four to five days and take a test. She did not. She came to work in LA. Let's read this verbatim so they don't think it's coming from DJ Envy. This is the Coronavirus
Starting point is 00:38:37 Health NY Government Travel Advisory. For travelers who are out of state for more than 24 hours, travelers must obtain a test within three days of departure prior to arrival in New York. The traveler must, upon arrival in New York, quarantine for three days. On day four of their quarantine, the traveler must obtain another COVID test. Angelique came back in town, came to the studio. Angelique, where are you currently?
Starting point is 00:38:59 I'm in Atlanta. You're in Atlanta. So you have not quarantined for three, four days? You said you took a test, but then you don't even know because you're supposed to wait four or five days to take the test. But then you decided to go to Atlanta anyway, you little super spreader. Well, it has been four days already. Since Sunday, we got tested every day, but I do have an attorney on the line. Okay, well, who is this attorney?
Starting point is 00:39:24 This is Attorney Rawlings. Oh, we I do have an attorney on the line. Okay, well, who is this attorney? This is Attorney Rawlings. Oh, we have another super spread on the line. Attorney Rawlings. Another person who probably hasn't quarantined since leaving Texas. He's in Texas. I just want to say how much I love the Breakfast Club. All right, we need you to represent me,
Starting point is 00:39:38 Don Al Rawlings. If this is your attorney, you're in trouble. The question is, Angela Yee was in Austin, Texas all weekend long celebrating her birthday with Team Chappelle. Dave Chappelle tested positive for coronavirus, right? Yesterday. Angela Yee came back in town. She immediately came to the studio on that Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:39:57 No quarantining at all. You're supposed to quarantine for three to four days when you come into New York and take a test on your fourth day. There's no objection, sir. Objection. If I knew I was around somebody with Corona, I would have loved to go back to work just to call for everybody there.
Starting point is 00:40:15 I know. We know. You're a hater. We get it. We know. Isn't that your job? This is your representation. You would call for everybody. Go ahead, Shana. No, what I'm saying is that when did we find out this information? Last night.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Yesterday. We found out Dave Chappelle had corona last night. You probably knew. You probably knew because that's your man's in them. You wouldn't care if he had COVID or not. You'd still be with him. Well, he got tested yesterday. That's how he found out because they get tested every day.
Starting point is 00:40:42 You know what? You know what? I will say this. You're absolutely right. I will. And the reason why is because you guys have protocol. We have protocol. I know I always crack jokes around, but I just want to say the measures that we take to make sure everybody is safe, have a good time, and live life as normal as possible.
Starting point is 00:41:02 There is nobody in DJ Envy, I'm pretty sure that you went places, you did your ooka ooka ooka and there was temperature checks. And this is what I want to say. Dave Chappelle is, and I'm not going to have, I don't have a defense for my client.
Starting point is 00:41:21 She's guilty. Wait, are you just saying that you didn't have a defense? Listen, I don't have a defense. We've lost this case. I'm going to go outside that. The measures that we take. We're the only show that we do four or five hundred people a night. Only show that tests everybody
Starting point is 00:41:39 that goes to the show. All the staff, hotel staff. But he still got it. He all the staff, hotel staff. But he still got it. He still got it. He still got it, Donnell. They still tested positive. It's not that.
Starting point is 00:41:51 I mean, anybody could catch it. I want to explain this. I want to explain this. You got to listen to me, all right? Or I'm going to mean you to death, and you don't have to tag me, Charlamagne. You know I won't. I know 100% you won't. You won't. I know 100% you won't. You won't.
Starting point is 00:42:07 The only person that takes the measures, and with that said, at every show, we specifically tell our audience, I know you all checked it, but that is not the answer. You know what? We got to hang up on Donnell. And the reason we got to hang up on Donnell, because all that proved is that Angelique makes poor choices. Okay, that's who you choose to represent you. That's why you were here on Tuesday, because you just make
Starting point is 00:42:32 poor choices, Angelique. That's why you're in Atlanta right now, because you just make poor choices. And yes, Donnell, I did my jiggle-jiggle thing. He said, oka-oka. But I quarantined, and I took a test yesterday, and it came back negative. That's why Envy hasn't been here all week. That's why I haven't been away.
Starting point is 00:42:45 I haven't even seen my kids or my parents. That's why I'm stuck in this. I thought you said 14 days. Right. No, it's four to five days after coming home. If you're with somebody, if you're around somebody that has coronavirus, then it's 14 days. All my friends have been tested. We all good.
Starting point is 00:42:59 We should go to the jury. We should go to take some calls, man. We'll do that when we come back. We'll do that when we come back. 800-585-1051. Call us up now. Maybe the jury will should go to take some calls man when we come back when we come back 800-585-1051 call us up maybe the jury will save you ye because don't hell wrong then you won't call meffin man call meffin man meffin man can represent you it's the breakfast club good morning morning everybody it's dj nv angela yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club now if you just join us
Starting point is 00:43:22 we're taking angela yee to breakfast. Now, over the weekend, she was celebrating her birthday out in Texas with Dave Chappelle, Donna Rawlins, Elon Musk. It was a huge comedy show. She went there with her friends. And Dave Chappelle tested positive for COVID-19. We found that out last night. That's right. But that's not the problem. The problem is when she got back, instead of quarantine, she came to work.
Starting point is 00:43:42 She came to the studio on Tuesday. Now, Angelique has been quarantining all year. Okay? work she came to the studio on tuesday nyanjalee has been quarantining all year okay haven't been in the studio she decided after she was around all those super spreaders to come into the studio on tuesday so we're asking what is your thoughts let's start with dramos and then dramos you have a slight mild case of uh you know uh so you know you take this very very very very serious you're a dj you haven't dj'd a club since february so yes how do you feel dramos i feel a little taken advantage of you know um by the powers that be over here i feel like uh there's no safety over here and uh
Starting point is 00:44:17 you know i'm just going out here on island wow coved island if you will go to cove it out okay now dan let me ask you a question dan how do how do you feel? I mean, you have been... Now, Dan, keep in mind you work for Angelina on the side. Now, don't get your money messed up. You have older parents that you go see. You know, you've taken this quarantine thing seriously. You don't even like to take the train. You try to get to work, walk if you can.
Starting point is 00:44:38 How do you feel about this, Dan? I'm disappointed. I had a dinner plan tonight canceled. And because I need to get a test. And getting tested in Manhattan is like impossible. And I was supposed to go to mom's tomorrow. But I don't know. Angela, how do you feel before we go to the jury?
Starting point is 00:44:55 I mean, I apologize. I had no idea this was going to happen. I have a better sob story. It's my birthday on Monday. I'm supposed to see my mom tomorrow. Oh, my God. Angela St. Patrick, do you see how you've ruined these people's lives? I mean, if you guys feel better, I did get tested twice already,
Starting point is 00:45:10 and I get tested again today. Go to the jury. Let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? Nope, lock ye up, ye. Lock up Paul, the CDC. I'm tired of not being able to go to the club and get ass thrown on me. Because of people like you, Yee.
Starting point is 00:45:27 And this is Trav. This is Trav. Your whole committee is turning on you. I love you, Yee. But you know, I'm tired of not being able to go to the club. I ain't had no ass thrown on me in a year. And I refuse to go to Atlanta with a bunch of Angelis. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:45:42 Angelis in Atlanta right now. Wow. All right. Thanks, Trav. Letis in Atlanta right now. Ooh. Wow. All right. Thanks, Trav. Let's go to another line. Hello, who's this? Hi, guys. This is Sandra, the Haitian therapist.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Sockbox, hey. Sandra, the Haitian therapist. Sockbox, hey. My boo-nay. Now, what do you think about Angelis? Are you the one that thinks that Charlamagne is handsome? No, no, no, no. She's not like you.
Starting point is 00:46:03 She's not like you. She doesn't make poor choices. All right. So what are your thoughts, Mama? Well, I mean, I do think that he's being responsible. She got tested before and after. And quarantine is really just a recommendation from the CDC. What?
Starting point is 00:46:18 I can't trust you. There's no actual scientific evidence that says that a body was infected virus in 14 days i work in the er and i know this firsthand so according to nobody so nobody's in the air she is lying every day i'm not lying you can have the virus and quarantine for 14 days and still have the virus after the 14 days it It varies from person to person. That's why the CDC is constantly changing. Oh my goodness. So you don't think Dave Chappelle should quarantine?
Starting point is 00:46:51 You don't think Dave Chappelle should quarantine? You think he should just be out and about? Oh, he tested positive. She's saying because I tested negative. Exactly. If you test it negative, it's a different story now. If you test positive, you don't want to spread the disease because it is still contagious. But you just said that we should quarantine. No, she said if you test positive. You don't want to spread the disease because it is still contagious. But you just said that we should avoid it.
Starting point is 00:47:07 No, she said if you test it negative. Exactly. If you test it negative, there's no need for her to quarantine. Ma'am, how long does COVID take to show up in the body? It can take several days. Exactly. Angela Yee was in Austin this weekend.
Starting point is 00:47:23 She was in Texas this weekend. She was in Texas this weekend. She came into the studio on Tuesday. She's in Atlanta now. Because she sounds stupid. That's the reason you're in the ER. That's the reason you're in the ER. If y'all were listening, what she said was that you could still have it. Even if 14 days, everybody's different.
Starting point is 00:47:43 It could not show up. So even if you quarantine for 14 days, you could still have it. Even at 14 days, everybody's different. It could not show up. So even if you quarantine for 14 days, you could still have it. You could have it right now. Even though all your tests came up negative in the first few days, next week you could take it and it could be positive. We could all have it. Dr. Fauci right now is shaking his head. That's why the CDC keeps on changing their guidelines.
Starting point is 00:47:59 You're just so irresponsible. I agree with her. All right. If y'all go to that doctor, y'all a damn fool. All right. 8-1-J-5-A-5-1-0-5-1-1-6-4-4. I believe with her. All right. If y'all go to that doctor, y'all a damn fool. 800-585-1051. I believe in science.
Starting point is 00:48:09 I can't tell. Wee! Everybody, it's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now, right now, we're in Breakfast Club Court. We have Angela Yee there. If you just joined us, Angela Yee was out and about all weekend long in Texas. She was celebrating her birthday with her friends and Dave Chappelle, Donnell Rawlings, and a host
Starting point is 00:48:28 of others. Well, it seems like Dave Chappelle tested positive for COVID-19. Don't seem like he did. He did. Well, Angela, instead of coming home and quarantining, nope, she didn't. She came to work the next day, and now she's in Atlanta. So we're taking your calls and asking, what are your thoughts? Hello, who's
Starting point is 00:48:44 this? Samantha. Hey, Samantha. Hi. and asking, what are your thoughts? Hello, who's this? Samantha. Hey, Samantha. Hi. Good morning. What are your thoughts, Mama? Well, at first I said yes, but then I think it depends how close she got to him and did she have a mask on? No, she did not. Definitely didn't have a mask on. There's plenty of pictures
Starting point is 00:49:00 on Instagram you can see. Okay, then I think she possibly can't have it because I got close to my nephew just giving him like a pat on the like giving him a hug and I got COVID. Actually, we all got COVID at my house so I think it could be a possibility
Starting point is 00:49:16 and the thing too is at first it starts like nothing like it's just like oh I have like a migraine and then it starts going into like start going through like the whole stages of COVID and depending I guess everybody takes it differently right well I hope you're okay and your family is okay we hope you're okay
Starting point is 00:49:32 let's go you guys are okay too I'm praying for everybody hello who's this this is Adrian from Texas what part I think what part of Texas? I'm in San Antonio.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Okay. Okay. So, you know, in all respect, Uncle Charlotte, Grandpa Envy, I think y'all have to sit your old ass down and let it be known that he's doing what she's going to do because she's young, she's trying to get time. It's hard being in quarantine. I think at least she's always on top of the game.
Starting point is 00:50:04 How old are you, young game. How old are you, young King? How old are you, young King? I'm 26. 26 years old. You're part of the problem. You probably went to go see Bow Wow. You probably went to go see Bow Wow in Houston this weekend, didn't you? It wasn't Houston last weekend, wasn't you? No, no. Actually, I haven't gone
Starting point is 00:50:19 into any clubs and stuff. Usually all I do is go walking downtown or hiking or something like that. But I always wear a mask, but at least he's always getting tested. That's true. Thank you very much. She does go out. None of y'all have really listened.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Why are y'all trying to lead the witnesses? I'm not trying to do nothing. I just know terrible misinformation when I hear it. And this is why COVID is what it is. This is not going the way you thought. It is. Let's go to another line.
Starting point is 00:50:50 Marlon, who's this? Marlon came up on you. Okay. You had a 26-year-old and a Haitian therapist who agreed with you. Everybody else said you should be locked up, Yee. Hello, who's this? Hello? Marlon, good morning.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Good morning, gentlemen and irresponsible lady. Where are you calling from? I'm from Harlem, New York. So what do you think about Yee's actions? I think Yee is a very irresponsible woman. Aside from that, who knows what else she visited. She probably went down to her juice bar and probably put them at risk. You know, it's something that she is part of the problem and not the solution. She visited. She probably went down to her juice bar and probably put them at risk.
Starting point is 00:51:29 You know, it's something that she is part of the problem and not the solution. Well, no one's allowed in the juice bar without a mask on and is social distancing in the juice bar. No one's allowed to leave their house. And yet again, you did it. You said no one's allowed to leave their house? Well, then we're all in trouble because Charlamagne's in the studio right now. If you've left New York for 24 hours, when you come back, you're supposed to quarantine for three days and take a test on the fourth day. That is the actual
Starting point is 00:51:54 New York City COVID guidelines. No, he just said no one's allowed to leave their house. Not during quarantine. Not during the quarantine period that you are supposed to take since you left the state. That's a fact. You put my good Latino brother, Dramos, at risk.
Starting point is 00:52:09 Thank you, sir. And everybody else that you came in contact with because you want to be selfish and go out for your birthday. You know, if you would have got sick and died, you won't have another birthday to celebrate. You should have been home. You guys, the whole point of going to that was to go safely. We got tested, all of us, before we went. We got tested twice a day while we were there. That's why we were able to go.
Starting point is 00:52:30 That's why I chose that. And I didn't want to go to a club. Didn't want to do a party. I wanted to be around people who were tested and above all. The point is not that you went out. I would agree with you if Dave Powell hadn't tested positive for COVID. The host, the man who put it all together, tested positive for COVID. I mean, the man who put it all together tested positive for COVID. I mean, eh.
Starting point is 00:52:47 But that's not the point. You can go out as long as you do it safely. But the point is, she came back and went to work the next day. Very next day. And now you're in Atlanta. It wasn't the next day. It was two days later. No, you got back Monday. Came to work Tuesday. That was the day. That was the next day. Half a day.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Sunday, and I was wrecked Tuesday. In the words of Bill Duke, you know you done f***ed up, right? I agree with the doctor. Okay. Okay. What's the verdict? Guilty. Guilty as charged. Guilty as charged.
Starting point is 00:53:21 You have to stay in your hotel in Atlanta for the next 14 days and don't come out ye that is your sentence. Oh my charged. Okay. You have to stay in your hotel in Atlanta for the next 14 days and don't come out. Yee, that is your sentence. Oh, my goodness. All right. Well, we got rumors on the way? Yes, and let's talk about Danny Lay. A lot of people do not like this song snippet that she previewed.
Starting point is 00:53:36 She actually took it down already, but we have it. All right. We'll get into that next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider
Starting point is 00:53:47 this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tried my country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong?
Starting point is 00:54:14 No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help!
Starting point is 00:54:26 We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:54:41 Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and
Starting point is 00:55:33 very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the remember having these dreams and visions, but you just don't know what is going to come for you. Alicia Keys opens up about conquering doubt, learning to trust herself and leaning into her dreams. I think a lot of times we are built to doubt the possibilities for ourselves, for self-preservation and protection, it was literally that step by step. And so I discovered that that is how we get where we're going. This increment of small, determined moments. Alicia shares her wisdom on growth, gratitude, and the power of love i forgive myself it's okay like grace have grace for yourself you're trying your best and you're gonna figure out the rhythm of
Starting point is 00:56:31 this thing alicia keys like you've never heard her before listen to on purpose with jay shetty on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Listen up. It's just in. All it got. Got. The Rumor Report. Got. Got. With Angela Yee. It's the Rumor Report.
Starting point is 00:56:50 The Breakfast Club. Well, Danny Lay teased a track and it did not go the way that she thought it would. The song has to do with being a yellow bone. Yellow bones, what do you want? What do you want? Yellow bones, what do you want? What do you want. What was that now? What happened?
Starting point is 00:57:18 Yellow bone, that's what he want. Now she posted yellow bone, that's what he want. Little Baby left yellow circles as in the comments. And then she, yeah, that's what the baby did. And then Danny Lay said, why I can't make a song for my light skin baddies. Why y'all think I'm hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speaking on all types. Why y'all so sensitive and take it personal. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:57:38 Y'all got another thing to say about me when you hate. It's all good. Only God can cancel me. That ish don't mean ish to me because the people around me are the ones that know my heart and intention in real life i'm sorry if i offended you y'all don't know me i'm gonna keep letting god bless me while y'all sit back and judge me now i was confused by this yesterday um uh because i'm trying to figure out what am i missing you know i think people are mad because they they don't she's not black is she black or she she posted i'm dominican she said i'm she not? She posted, I'm Dominican.
Starting point is 00:58:06 She said, I'm Dominican. I'm Spanish. I'm black. I'm white. Leave me alone. But she has a lighter complexion. So she made a song about having a lighter complexion. I'm trying to figure out what's the problem here.
Starting point is 00:58:20 Yellow bone, that's what he want. What's wrong with that? I think it's like a colorism thing and so it's brown skin girls colorism well i think the problem is that people have for so long uh acted like for light-skinned women there was more privileges they were getting casted in videos and tv shows there's been a lot of people saying things like i don't do dark-skinned women and things like that but it's not like it's not like she said her light skin is better than anybody's. She didn't say that.
Starting point is 00:58:50 I mean, I didn't hear that. I couldn't see you doing something like yellow bone is what he wants. I just don't think it was. But people, I mean, we have songs about melanin. There's brown skin girls. I think everybody should have pride in their complexion how are we going to tell people to love the skin they're in but when they make a song about their complexion people get upset that's just a little strange to me maybe i'm not because they
Starting point is 00:59:14 didn't feel she was black that's why i thought people were mad i thought they were saying how does a you know how does a woman make a light skin song and she's not black that's what i thought that's what i seen online only black people who like the complexion i don't know that's that's what i seen why people are mad well i don't know but um other posts where sukihana said make a song about how all shades of black is beautiful instead of making yourself feel superior and calling everybody haters that's dope listen to us and then maybe you would have more black women supporting you because honestly none of them are kendrick lamar did that with complexion you know i mean he? I do think like mentioning yeah, I do think mentioning
Starting point is 00:59:47 I mean, it's just a lot of division amongst black people on the tone of their skin, light skin, dark skin, all of that. It's a weird thing to do right now. Stop calling me light skin bitch, Charlamagne, or beige bitch, or waffle color bitch. You will always be my beige little bitch. All right? And men make
Starting point is 01:00:04 songs about wanting light skin women, wanting red bones all the time. That's the problem. Childish Gambino had a whole song called Red Bone. She's actually light skinned. She's rapping about herself and there's backlash. If she was on the song saying light skin is better than dark skin, I would understand. But yellow bone is what he wants. Like, really?
Starting point is 01:00:22 That's what y'all mad about? Now, Eliziza rain posted certain things are expected from these male rappers but i'm shocked a woman's still doing this in 2021 honestly anybody that's been in america more than two hours should know that's a touchy subject but then again we shouldn't expect a person who isn't even black red bone or chocolate to understand how it's offensive red bones are lighted tone black women by the way not hispanic but go off because see the reason i don't i don reason I don't dig this is because when a sister comes out and she makes a song about
Starting point is 01:00:47 her melanin or brown skin girls, that should be celebrated. So I'm not going to knock her because she's making a song about her skin complexion because I don't want anybody to knock the chocolate colored sisters when they come out and celebrate themselves. I just don't understand how we can tell people to love the skin they're in, but if they make a song about it,
Starting point is 01:01:03 it's backlash. If she would have said I'm better, would have said i'm better my mighty light skin is better i would totally get it which i didn't hear that well yeah i don't think anybody should do a song like that but i think when it comes to chocolate women like for so long they haven't been getting uh the roles they haven't been getting the attention modeling gigs all of that so you know just to uplift them and have their own uh melanin is a strong, powerful message for everybody. But when you listen, I'm all about keeping light skinned people down, especially like that. So that's what we're doing. I'm with it. OK, we're not doing that. We're just trying not to cause any division.
Starting point is 01:01:38 All right. Now, Megan, the stallion was on social media and there was at first a report that came out saying that the charges had gotten dropped against Tory Lanez. And she wanted to make sure people know that that is not true. She posted about it. Somebody said, I'm sorry, Meg, but how long are you going to keep bringing this up? She said, are you living under a rock? You think I brought this up today? And if I want to keep talking about me getting shot, I can. She said, y'all so believe black women and protect black women online.
Starting point is 01:02:02 But when I literally say I got shot, it's confusing how the F i got shot now i'm the world's biggest mf villain all y'all okay i can't even say all that um and then she said trauma is real i'm still traumatized from losing my mom dad and one of my grandmothers and on top of that being shot i'm not open about anything on the internet usually because i like to keep my emotions private but i I'm reaching my limit. I'm going to keep staying positive. Yeah. So there was a fake story. And so she was responding to that fake story. The charges have not been dropped, but they changed the court date is what happened. They changed the court date. The problem with that whole situation is they speak about it a little bit and then they stop and then you, and then people would make their own opinions. Cause she started talking about it a little bit when she was on live one time. And then he started
Starting point is 01:02:44 talking about it in his song and nobody knows. So what do you expect people to do? Well, I'll tell you one thing, that reality show that is Megan and Tori keep getting better and better. Cause yesterday, Megan said, you going to jail.
Starting point is 01:02:56 She tweeted that in capital letters. You going to jail. Like, whoa. Yeah. She said, y'all can't tell when it's fake news. Y'all still don't see an abuser picking
Starting point is 01:03:05 with me the first court date got pushed back because of the inauguration but I can't wait until the facts come out bitch you shot me and my story not changing and bitch you going to jail now Tory Lanez said I will continue my 2021 unproblematically just want to make great
Starting point is 01:03:22 content for my fans. Much love, y'all. All right. If you shout it, you should go to jail. Absolutely. This is an exhausting story. I don't know anything. I wish healing for all parties involved. Okay? Absolutely. Whatever's supposed to happen is going to happen.
Starting point is 01:03:42 Whatever people are supposed to get, they're going to get. That's it. That's all you got. All right. Well, that is your rumor report. All right. Charlamagne, who are you giving that donkey to? One of John Moses' people, Samuel Carmogel. You love him.
Starting point is 01:03:54 He needs to come to the front of the congregation. We need to have a word with him. This is insane. And he's from Florida. All right. We'll get into that next Keep It Locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Is your country falling apart?
Starting point is 01:04:03 Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tried my country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong?

And you're going to figure out the rhythm of this thing. Alicia Keys, like you've never heard her before. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 01:06:59 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Make sure you tell them to watch out for Florida, man. The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. Yes, you are a donkey. A Florida man attacked an ATM for a very strange reason. It gave him too much money. Florida man is arrested after deputies say he rigged the door to his home in an attempt to electrocute his pregnant wife.
Starting point is 01:07:25 Police arrested an Orlando man for attacking a flamingo. Put the breakfast club, bitchy. Donkey of the day with Charlemagne the guy. I don't know why y'all keep letting him get y'all like this. Well, that's because Florida is full of fools. All right. Donkey of the day for January 22nd goes to Samuel Carmargo, who is 26 years old and he hails from the great state of Florida. What does your uncle Charlemagne always say about the great state of Florida?
Starting point is 01:07:47 The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. Now, contrary to popular belief, I don't come in here and go to the Sun Sentinel or the Miami Herald or the Tampa Bay Times or the Orlando Sentinel and look to see what happened crazy in Florida. Nope. Florida crazy tends to find me. Florida crazy tends to find all of us. If we were the scene of a crime, Florida crazy always seems to make its way back to us. And that's exactly what this Florida fool, Samuel Carmargo, did. See, Samuel Carmargo, I'm looking at him,
Starting point is 01:08:19 and if I had to guess what race he is, I would say Spanish of some sort. Dramos, I showed you his pictures. This one of your people. No comment. Well, I think he is. And he is also clearly a Latino for Trump because he was one of the insurrectionists. OK, one of the domestic terrorists who stormed the Capitol on January 6th. Yes, he was one of the diversity hires for vanilla ISIS. And he's the reason Goya CEO Robert Unanu wasn't worried about nothing when he endorsed and praised Donald Trump because he knows that there was Samuel Carmargo's out there who would still support his brand of beans.
Starting point is 01:08:53 Now, how do I know Samuel Carmargo was one of the insurrectionists? Well, it's because he was warned about the FBI. Yes, wanted. You don't believe me? Let's go to WPLG Local 10 for the report, please. The South Florida man arrested after the siege on the Capitol fence, busting the man after he bragged about it on social media. Federal agents say his name is Sam Camargo and lives in Broward County.
Starting point is 01:09:12 His Instagram story showing a struggle with Capitol Police to open a door to the U.S. Capitol. This picture grabbing a metal object. The caption reading, got some memorabilia, did it myself. A Facebook post. The same day of the insurrection. Apologizing for taking part in it. And another posting, quote, just finished speaking to an FBI agent. I believe I've been cleared.
Starting point is 01:09:36 But in the federal complaint, FBI agents say they contacted Camargo on the phone, claiming he admitted to attending the pro-Trump D.C. protest, but became uncooperative, questioning the agent's loyalty to the Constitution. He's facing charges for civil disorder, entering a restricted building, disruptive conduct, and physical violence. If convicted, he could reportedly spend over 25 years. Let me give a quick translation. Let me dumb that down because that was a little long. A day after those mayonnaise-flavored mammals stormed the Capitol with apparently
Starting point is 01:10:10 a pinch of Sasson, the FBI agent contacted Camargo at his house in Florida. He admitted to attending the riot. Then he became uncooperative and questioned the agent's loyalty to the Constitution before saying he had no more information to provide. Then he posted on Spanish Twitter, just finished speaking to an FBI agent.
Starting point is 01:10:26 I believe I've been cleared. Well, that wasn't the case. In fact, the feds came back on this past Tuesday to arrest him in Florida, but he wasn't home. The reason he's getting donkey today is not just because he decided to be the adobo on some unseasoned white meat, but because of when and where Samuel ended ended up getting arrested i walked in this morning and our producer dan showed me several headlines cnn political the new york post here's
Starting point is 01:10:52 the headline florida man wanted in capital riot busted after returning to d. for the inauguration. I repeat, Florida man wanted in Capitol riot, busted after returning to D.C. for the inauguration. Now, there is an old saying, if you want to hide the treasure, put it in plain sight and nobody will see it. The thing about old saying is that the thing about old sayings is that they're just old. OK, and they often sound good, but they aren't accurate. Because to me, it depends on what the treasure is. If the treasure is a million dollars in cash and it's sitting right there on the sidewalk for everybody to see, I may not touch it because I don't feel
Starting point is 01:11:32 it's a setup, but it's not hiding. Okay. That's not a good hiding place for it. Something that is another thing. Sometimes the best hiding place is the one that's in plain sight. That's not true either. If I rob a bank, the worst place to hide is right in the lobby under the desk in the same bank. OK, Samuel Carmargo has now been charged with civil disorder, knowingly entering a restricted building or grounds disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. And the most egregious offense being a fool from Florida. Please give Samuel Carmargo. From Florida. Please give Samuel Carm- Let Remy Ma give Samuel Carm- Go the biggest hee-haw.
Starting point is 01:12:08 Hee-haw. Hee-haw. You stupid mother- Are you dumb? Draw most people. Why we gotta point out the one Latin guy? What are you talking about? I don't appreciate that.
Starting point is 01:12:19 What are you talking about? And what the hell is Spanish Twitter? I don't- You tell me. Charlamagne. There's no Spanish Twitter? I would just assume since there's a black Twitter, there gotta be a Spanish Twitter? You tell me. There's no Spanish Twitter? I would just assume since there's a black Twitter, there's got to be a Spanish Twitter, right?
Starting point is 01:12:31 I don't appreciate this. There's definitely a Spanish Twitter. I'd be seeing you online. What are you talking about? Y'all be having your own conversations. Who's y'all? You and the Spanish people. What do you mean? You know what? Am I lying?
Starting point is 01:12:43 It's the truth. You got your set with the Puerto Rican flag in the back. You said your set. Right? What are you talking about? The set you be on when you record. Okay. I only exist on Latin Twitter is what you're saying?
Starting point is 01:12:57 No, I just said that there is a Spanish Twitter. Wow. Oh, it's Latin Twitter. See, he just told us. He just told us what it is. It's Latin Twitter. Thank you for the clarification, Dramos. Thank you. Thank you for that donkey today. Now, when we what it is. It's Latin Twitter. Thank you for the clarification. Thank you for that donkey today.
Starting point is 01:13:09 Now, when we come back, let's talk Danny Lay. Now, she got in hot water yesterday for a song that she released. People didn't like the song. Can we hear a snippet of the song is trash, right? That's three. That's two, I think. That's part of it. That's what I was... That was part two of it.
Starting point is 01:13:36 Part one is people are upset that she's using the term yellow bone, and people are upset about that. Why? I'm really confused about that. I mean, I just think historically it's always been it goes back to the days out and i don't want to bring up slavery in this but it goes back to the days of certain people who were lighter were in the house and then the darker people were in the field and then i do think that even images and media we've been seeing you know and it's been changing i think as of late but there's a lot of
Starting point is 01:14:05 colorism so how do we know that's true and guys will be like light-skinned girls are better and you know we've heard things like that happen in the past i don't like dark-skinned girls and so so let me let me play white devil's advocate here if how do we tell people to love the skin they're in and don't turn down your shine for nobody but then when she makes a song about her lighter complexion she's not saying she's better than anyone she's just making a song about her lighter complexion it's a problem I'm really confused by this I really want to know what I'm missing she has a lighter complexion
Starting point is 01:14:31 that's what he wants so basically he wants her because she's yellow bone is what it sounds like so if that's colorism is brown skin girl's colorism is NDR what was NDR song called brown skin is brown skin colorismism? Is NDI Re, what was NDI Re's song called? Brown, brown skin. Is brown skin colorism?
Starting point is 01:14:47 Like, I'm really confused. I think that was more uplifting just because of, you know, colorism was that people always act like dark skinned women weren't as good as light skinned women. It's a real thing that exists. I agree with that. But she's not saying that. She didn't say her light skin is better than anybody.
Starting point is 01:15:02 Like, I mean, I don't understand how she can't make a song about her light complexion and be proud about it. 800-585-1051. Let's talk saying that. She didn't say her light skin is better than anybody. Like, I mean, I don't understand how she can't make a song about her light complexion and be proud about it. 800-585-1051. Let's talk about it. What are your thoughts? Call us now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:15:12 The Breakfast Club. Hey, hiding your skin complexion. What I'm saying is that historically, darker skinned women have been thought of as not as pretty, not as representative magazines. Very true. And so it's more like. historically darker skinned women have been thought of as not as pretty, not as representative magazines. And so it's more like, so that's what I'm saying about those songs. It's not saying that I'm better than you. And I think it's the yellow bone.
Starting point is 01:15:34 Daddy didn't say I'm better than you. And brown skin, he wants me for my brown skin. Like she said, yellow bone is what he wants. And then I also think that because the baby has a brown skin, baby mom and his kids are brown skin. People feel like she's taking shots at that. Well, I see a majority of people mad at Danny Lay because they don't feel Danny Lay is a black woman and she's talking all this light skin stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:55 I'm seeing all the tweets now. Danny Lay, your parents are not even black. How are you talking about yellow bone? Danny Lay is a non-black woman creating a colorist ass song called Yellowbone someone help me understand so I think a lot of people are mad that she's not quote unquote black I don't even know what her background is she's Dominican and Dominicans are Afro-Latinas I'm pretty sure she identifies as black as well
Starting point is 01:16:18 yeah I didn't know Yellowbone was just a term used for black women I didn't know that Dramos you're Latino do you call Latino women no I mean I women. I didn't know that. Dramos, you're Latino. Yeah, I never heard of that. Do you call Latino women? No, I mean, I've never, I don't use any of those terms. But if you go to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, you're going to see people who are light skin, dark skin, all of that.
Starting point is 01:16:34 So why would that be any different if these conversations happen? Anybody from Latin America, first and foremost, is of African roots, indigenous roots, and Spanish, European roots. So we have, you know, similar things in that. So it's African blood, African culture,an culture you know i mean on our island so i don't she kind of i can't identify with that i don't see why people but she didn't put anybody down did she i mean the song is trashed so let's just be honest and that's what i want to know songs that are dope make me actually think and have these type of conversations how y'all get past how terrible this song is to get to this deep colorism conversation?
Starting point is 01:17:05 Now Taylor's brown skin. Come here, Taylor. Brown skin girl from Philly. Lil' brown skin Philly John. Lil' brown skin Philly John. What do you think, Taylor? I think it's dumb and like I said to our producer Eddie, I'm like, I think people need to look at the bigger point that you said. The song's trash.
Starting point is 01:17:22 That's the main thing. The song is horrible. They don't like the song to say that. That's all they gotta say. Alright, I'm with you. That's the main thing. The song is horrible. They don't like the song. Just say that. That's all they got to say. All right. I'm with you. I thought the backlash should be about how bad this song is. If I was light skin and you tried to make a song saying Yellowbone is what you want and the song was terrible, I'd be like, that ain't us.
Starting point is 01:17:37 That don't represent us. That is horrible. That's what I would do. Angela has a point, though, with what she said about the baby mama and then the colorism in general, the history of it. That's probably also why. But I don't think it's a problem with light skins being happy to be light skinned either, though. Listen, man, any way we can keep light skinned men down, I'm all for it. So if this was a light skinned guy, he had a song, Yellow Bones, What Do You Want?
Starting point is 01:18:00 I would be agreeing with y'all. I would be fake outraged, too. But this is kind of silly, guys. Well, let's go to the phone lines hello who's this dominique hey dominique good morning where you calling from houston texas hey good morning now what do you what did you think about danny lay's song i think it was shot it's definitely a shot at um the baby mama she's dark skin beautiful but danny lay been hating for a Okay, now I'm starting to see what else is going on, too. Y'all are saying that this is a diss record to the baby's mama. Correct.
Starting point is 01:18:30 Well, she did post about it, too. She kind of made a little sub response to it, you know, laughing at the song and stuff, so. Well, the song is terrible. I would laugh at it, too. But that doesn't mean it was a diss record to his baby mama. It is. She's talking about liking is what she wants. She's saying he don't want you. She's been saying she's doing better and all that. I what she wants. She's saying he don't want you.
Starting point is 01:18:46 She's been saying she's doing better and all that. I don't know. I look at the shade room, so, you know. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, it could be the shot. It could not be. We don't know. I'm not this woke, bro. I need some sleep.
Starting point is 01:18:55 Y'all, I get rest. I'm not as woke as y'all. Go take a nap. Okay, I get rest. 8800-585-1051. If you just joined us, we're talking Danny Legsong. We'll take your calls when we come back. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:19:06 It's topic time. Call 800-585-1051 to join in for the discussion with The Breakfast Club. Let's talk about it. Morning, everybody. It's D-E-J-N-V Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Now, if you just joined us, we're talking about Danny Lace.
Starting point is 01:19:28 She created a song that I guess it's called Yellowbone, but the song is trash. And people are upset about it. Well, she just put up a snippet of it and she already took it down. As she should. That song will never come out. It's embarrassing. All right. It's so bad, it's embarrassing.
Starting point is 01:19:43 People are mad about the song and saying that it promotes colorism. So let's go to the phone lines and get your thoughts. Hello, it's so bad, it's embarrassing. People are mad about the song and saying that it promotes colorism. So let's go to the phone lines and get your thoughts. Hello, who's this? Hey, what's up, man? This is Nichols from Cincinnati. What's up, Nichols from Cincinnati? You said Nichols from Cincinnati? Nichols, man.
Starting point is 01:19:55 Oh, Nichols. Nichols, man. Five cent. Five cent. Got you. Got you. Got you. I think you need to call yourself five cent around white people so that I might get tricky.
Starting point is 01:20:03 That's what's up. Hey, man, listen. I don't know the young lady name who made the tone. Danny Lane. America is too sensitive, man. Like, I got a preference. Everybody has a preference. Like, I like my wife.
Starting point is 01:20:17 She's brown skin. That's my preference. They can't be mad because somebody might prefer a light skin compared to a dark skinned woman. America just got to quit being so sensitive, man. Yeah, I mean, even past the preference thing, I just don't understand how we tell people to love the skin they're in, tell people don't turn down their shine for nobody. But then when somebody actually makes a song about their complexion,
Starting point is 01:20:41 people get upset. People get upset for different reasons. Like, for instance, right? Could you imagine a network saying, you know what? I don't want to do something with you because you're dark-skinned, right? People would go crazy, right? Yes. Now, when BET said, Envy, I don't want to do with your family because your family's not black enough.
Starting point is 01:20:56 I totally understand. I totally get it. I'm with BET on this one. I'm with BET. Listen, I remember I dated a guy when I was... I don't even know what you were trying to make just now. I remember I dated a guy when I was younger and he told me he doesn't. He was like, I don't date dark skinned women. I only like light skinned or mixed women. And that made me feel disgusted by him.
Starting point is 01:21:14 And I couldn't I didn't even like him anymore after that. That's his loss. It just it just sounds disgusting. That's it. That's what it is. But and I get I get the historical context of it. But you can't project your feelings on onto her she's light-skinned she didn't say she better than nobody if she would have said
Starting point is 01:21:29 light skin is better than dog skin or light skin is what they want after dog skin holes i would totally understand the backlash she didn't say that she just said light skin is what you want i do feel like people have always acted like dark-skinned women weren't as pretty as like skinned women and i think that's disgusting and that's why i do feel like those songs were more i think uplifting and i i think those were important songs to make everybody should be proud of their own that's just how i look at it that's how like i have my best friend is brown skin and i remember a guy telling me one time i don't normally like brown skin women but your homegirls are really pretty. I think that that's a weird message to send to young light skin
Starting point is 01:22:08 girls. Because now they're going to grow up with their own insecurities and they're going to feel like they got to, you know, cover themselves and dim down because people say light skin girls can't be proud of their skin complexion. I guess that's just strange.
Starting point is 01:22:24 I don't know. And by the way, I cheered when Nino Brown stabbed Christopher Williams in the hand on New Jack City. I know you did, you ass. I get it. I know you did, you ass. But you know, you got to think about it. Like, you have daughters, and I have daughters. I have two daughters that are lighter complexion,
Starting point is 01:22:37 and I have one daughter that's a darker complexion. Brooklyn is the same complexion as my mother, which is a brown skin. And we tell them to respect, you know, to love their skin regardless. When they go to the American Girl doll, Brooklyn gets a doll that looks like her, which is a brown skin. And we tell them to respect their skin regardless. When they go to the American Girl doll, Brooklyn gets a doll that looks like her, which is a darker skin girl. And London does the same. But I tell them to love their
Starting point is 01:22:52 skin regardless. It doesn't matter what your complexion is, honestly. I think women might look at it differently than men do. That's all. I do. I really believe that just from women who have experienced how guys feel about light-skinned women versus dark-skinned women, I think it's more of a sensitive topic. Well, let's go to the phone lines.
Starting point is 01:23:08 Get another caller. Hello, who's this? What's good? This is Reggie. Reggie, what's up, brother? Hey, real quick, man. I just want to say, man, about the colorism. People, dark-skinned women have been getting, getting, taken off the screen like Mother
Starting point is 01:23:20 Love got taken off of Robin Givens on her Damon Ware's show, The Dark Skinned Daughter, got changed for The Light Skinned Daughter. So, yeah, I understand what you're talking about with all that. But overall, the song sucks to beat. That's the biggest thing about this. I do not see how y'all getting past how terrible this song is to have a deeper conversation about colorism. This song doesn't warrant this
Starting point is 01:23:45 conversation all right well thank you for checking in brother can we play brown skin girl this morning because i love brown skin girl you know i'm saying my daughters love that record because they all a bunch of little brown skin princess you know i'm saying so i don't want anybody to feel like they gotta um you know not be proud of just getting it they're in the only people that should be ashamed of that skin complexion is white people shut up man shut up white people and light-skinned men that is it you shut up man and shut up i'm not cosigning none of that that's lenard talking charlemagne got we got rumors on the way yes let's talk about little kim she has named the person that she thinks would be perfect to play her uh in a biopic all right i'm gonna get my light-skinned brothers to stand outside
Starting point is 01:24:24 the station and protest against you one day. I don't know what day it's going to be, but one day we're going to do it against you. You keep that little beige brigade away from goddamn this studio. All right? We don't want none of this. We don't want no waffle-colored war. All right?
Starting point is 01:24:38 The room is up next. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. I'm a skin girl. Your skin, your cypress. The best thing in the world. Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Ye yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club good morning now let's get to the rumors let's talk little kim this is the rumor report with angela yee on the breakfast club listen up now little kim was doing an interview for season two of the bet plus series, American Gangster Trap Queens.
Starting point is 01:25:26 And one question that she was asked is who would she want to play her in a biopic? It can only be a girl that's from the hood that I'm from. I love Tiana. She's my only my only other thought. There's nobody else in the industry. But even before Tiana, because I love Tiana, but, you know, she's from Harlem. Before Tiana, I would love to give some little girls from
Starting point is 01:25:48 Brooklyn a chance. I think that'd be dope. Everybody wants Tiana Taylor to play him. Dionne Warg wanted Tiana Taylor to play her. Lil' Kim want Tiana Taylor. I mean, Tiana Taylor's a phenomenal talent. I like her other idea, too, though, about finding an unknown from Brooklyn and do it. That'd be dope, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:03 Both of those ideas, but that's dope. And Tiana Taylor's with it, just so you know. So she posted that be told to. Yeah, both of those I did. But that's up. And Tiana Till is with it, just so you know. So she posted that. All right. Now, YFN Luti has requested bond in his murder case. He wants to be able to support his four children and his mother. So he is facing very serious charges for his alleged role in a homicide. But he's asking for a reasonable bond because he has four underage children whom he financially supports.
Starting point is 01:26:25 He said there's no risk of him fleeing his pending trial. He said he poses no significant threat or danger to any person, to the community or to any property in the community. And he has no felony criminal record either. That's a very valid reason for wanting to get bail. But he definitely needs a more original reason. That's everybody. That's everybody's reason. That's the truth, though. Especially if you're the breadwinner.
Starting point is 01:26:47 You're the one that supplies everything and does everything. If you're in jail, you can't work. That is very, very true. But you know what a judge would say? A judge would say, well, if that was the case, then maybe you shouldn't have gotten tied up in a situation like this. But you should be innocent until proven guilty, right? I absolutely agree. Right, and the fact that he has no right no criminal record no felony criminal record the fact
Starting point is 01:27:05 that he says that he poses no threat and he's not a danger to society you know the judge just has to decide based on all of that so we shall see i absolutely agree i absolutely agree he should he should get bill all right now bridgerton is returning for a season two how exciting is that my wife will be excited i'm sure all her friends will be excited as well. I can't wait. I wonder how long that's going to take. Have you watched it yet, Charlamagne? No, I haven't watched it yet.
Starting point is 01:27:30 I think you'll like it. I think you'll like the star of the show. I think you'll be really attracted to him and really like what he does. Is he light-skinned? Yes. Well, no, he's light-skinned, brown-skinned. Light-skinned men is not what I want. Who was it?
Starting point is 01:27:43 Somebody got in trouble for saying that he should play James Bond because he's light-skinned. I think he should play James Bond, too. I think that would be dope. What's wrong? Listen. Now, listen. Now, let's be—we ain't had a number of white James Bonds. So if they pick a black James Bond and he's light-skinned, y'all going to be mad?
Starting point is 01:27:59 As if light-skinned is not also black? Yeah, it was somebody named Paige Distorable apologized for suggesting that he played James Bond because he's light-skinned. I don't know. Why would somebody say that? Listen, I'm all about impressing light-skinned men. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:28:11 Let's Danny Liam right now. What do we do? Shut up, man. But I think he should play it. His name is Reggae and he does this thing and women love him. His name is Reggae.
Starting point is 01:28:22 Women love him and I think he should play it. James Bond. Who is Reggae? That's his think he should play I think he should play James Bond Who is Reggae? That's his name That's how you pronounce his name In real life In real life
Starting point is 01:28:31 He's French What is his name? Bridgerton Oh my gosh Why do I not remember his name I love when Envy clocks a man boy The last time I seen Envy clock a man like this Was that dude named from The Bachelor
Starting point is 01:28:40 Mike Envy went crazy over Mike He knew Mike's dimensions and everything. He was like, Mike is six foot something, 200 pounds. If you love him, you're going to love The New Bachelor. His name is Matt. And he's a good catch.
Starting point is 01:28:56 He's a good catch? He's a good catch. He's about 6'2". He's diesel. And he weighs about, I would say, about 190. That's what I'm talking about. Okay. All right. Now, Soulja Boy's ex-girlfriend slash personal assistant has come forward
Starting point is 01:29:12 with some details of what she says was an alleged sexual assault, and now what she claims happens to her is that she was held hostage by Soulja Boy and that he created a hostile work environment and also did not pay her the wages that she rightfully earned serving as his employee. She said she was expected to be available at all times to clean, cook, chauffeur, and perform personal assistant tasks. And then she said
Starting point is 01:29:33 after less than a month of employment, he started sending unsolicited photos of his penis. They did have a brief consensual relationship, but then things turned violent. She said he was often jealous and enraged. He once kicked, body slammed and punched her repeatedly in the head and told her, I should have killed you. She said she attempted to leave and he locked her in her room without water for three days and repeatedly raped and beat her until she lost consciousness. She said
Starting point is 01:29:56 when she was finally able to escape, she was forced to return to collect her personal belongings and he allegedly raped her again. So these are the allegations that a woman is making against Soulja Boy. It's his ex-girlfriend slash personal assistant. He has not made any comments so far on these allegations. All right.
Starting point is 01:30:15 Now, and by the way, previously there was a story, but the person wished to remain anonymous, and people are saying this might be the same story from back then because it's very similar. And at that time, he did respond and say it was 100% fabricated and that was last January all right I'm Angela Yee and that is your rumor report all right thank you so much if everybody out there listen I got a lot of uh tweets today um I am not Dominican I know Charlamagne says that all the time and I know he jokes with it all the time and it's a joke, but I am not Dominican. I don't speak Spanish. I am not from the DR.
Starting point is 01:30:46 You are a liar. You've always been a liar. You want Danny Lee on The Breakfast Club so bad you want to be her old DJ. Okay, Dominicans, stick together. I'm not Dominican. I am black. He's from Dominica, so that's, I think, where the confusion comes in.
Starting point is 01:31:01 No, Charlamagne calls me Dominican all the time. That's where the confusion comes in. You are Dominican. I calls me Dominican all the time. That's where the confusion comes in. You are Dominican. I'm not Dominican. My dad is half from Dominica, which is a Caribbean island, and half black, and my mom is 100% black.
Starting point is 01:31:13 I don't know nothing about that. I know you and Dramos being here having your own conversation in your own language. Yeah, I'm actually kind of hurt right now. He's denying it. I am not. You know what? People's Choice mixes up next, man.
Starting point is 01:31:21 Get your request in. We throw it back on a Friday. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. And it's just like if you've ever done an overnight shift, if you've ever done the quiet storm, if you've ever spent majority of your time at a radio station, there was a period where all you heard was keisha cole and ashanti like they contributed so much to black radio you
Starting point is 01:32:32 know what i mean and it's just like if you've worked in radio long enough you know a lot of those songs word for word just because they used to play them so much so salute to them two sisters man keisha cole and ashanti i I thoroughly enjoyed that versus last night. So I'm glad that he made a record for all the thick ladies out there like myself. All right. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.

Starting point is 01:33:48 Ant had the best performance of the whole inauguration. You didn't even know if he performed. You just had to ask. Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. Don't worry about all that. Okay. Ant had the best performance of the whole inauguration. All right.
Starting point is 01:33:58 Dropping the clues behind Ant. I want Ant up here, though. I want Ant to come to the Breakfast Club. Yeah. We need Ant to come to the Breakfast Club. Next time he's in the Tri-State. Does he live in Jersey still? Probably not.
