Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Hey y'all, Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and John Glickman, Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was Claudette Colvin. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, my undeadly darlings. It's Teresa, your resident ghost host. And do I have a treat for you. Haunting is crawling out from the shadows, and it's going to be devilishly good. We've got chills, thrills, and stories that'll make you wish the lights stayed on. So join me, won't you?
Starting point is 00:02:06 Let's dive into the eerie unknown together. Sleep tight, if you can. Listen to Haunting on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Allow me to introduce myself. DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. Boy, y'all came a long way. I think that y'all have a certain amount of respect for, you know, what everybody else does. And y'all are just the best at what y'all do.
Starting point is 00:02:35 This platform, the reach y'all have that you've earned, makes space for somebody like me. You guys have a direct line to the culture. Oh my God, I'm on the radio with Angela Charlamagne and DJ Envy. Yes, you are. All I do is read about the Breakfast Club. Every morning, you guys are trending. I drag my ass out of that. I'm like, what happened
Starting point is 00:02:55 at the Breakfast Club today? Good morning, DJ Envy. Charlamagne Tha God. Peace to the planet. It is Friday. Yes, it's Friday. Friday. Weekend is here. I mean, listen, don't get me wrong. Weekend still means something. Remember when Friday used to really mean something?
Starting point is 00:03:38 Like you would have plans to probably go away somewhere or just even go out somewhere. You know what I mean? Fridays used to mean so much more now every day just feels like the same day a good day but the same day nonetheless yeah well you don't have work tomorrow but yeah i get what you're saying i used to travel or you know i would have a dinner date or i would have something to do now it seems like really not too much to do just chilling and it's still snowing here on the East Coast, which is disgusting and I hate it. I'm tired of the snow now. I really am.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I've been tired of snow. Snow is disgusting. Snow looks good when it first falls. Like it's all clean looking and pretty. But then once it stays for like a week or two here in New York or New Jersey, it just gets gross. It does. Well here in New York after a day it gets gross.
Starting point is 00:04:23 After one day in Madrid it looks gross out here. It's disgusting. Yeah, it's Bob and Rita Marley's daughter. Also, Amanda Sills is getting honored. And so is Dean Nice. So I want to shout out to them and everybody that's part of it. Dougie Fresh is hosting and Janelle Snowden. So I'm excited for this weekend. Normally, it's a big deal every year. It's like one of the biggest things that I attend.
Starting point is 00:05:03 But this year is a virtual. But I want to shout out to all of the recipients who are getting their awards and that money does go to benefit the students that want to go to the University of the West Indies. What island is D-Nice connected to? I know my sister Amanda Seals is Grenada. Grenada, massive all day. Nutmeg,
Starting point is 00:05:17 massive. Dropping a clothesline for Grenada. What's D-Nice? Let me see. What island is D-Nice from? I'm not sure. I don't want to say the wrong thing. He's from the island of the Bronx. Yeah, I don't want to say the wrong thing because I think I know, but I don't want to say the wrong thing and be wrong. He's from the island of the Bronx.
Starting point is 00:05:34 The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. They are definitely islands unto themselves. There you go. Definitely the island from the Bronx. All right. You should definitely need a passport to go to Florida. You should need a passport to go to Florida. You should need a passport to go to Florida. You need a tracking device to go through the Bronx.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Just in case you go through there and don't come back. Just in case something happens? Yep. Oh my goodness. Alright, well let's get the show cracking. Now we got front page news coming up. What are we talking about? Well, let's talk about Senator Ted Cruz. While everything was happening in Texas
Starting point is 00:06:03 and people are struggling and still having issues with water and power, he went off to Cancun. All right. And also, Audrey Jackson and Eric Adams will be joining us. Audrey Jackson is Pop Smoke's mom. Today is the one year anniversary of his passing. So we're going to talk to Audrey Jackson and Eric Adams. All right. So we're going to talk to them a little bit later as well. So Front Page news is next. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Let's get in some front page news. Now, quickly, last night, I know Yee's excited about this, but the Brooklyn Nets beat the Lakers last night.
Starting point is 00:06:42 109-98. LeBron James had 37 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Kyrie Irving had 16 points. James Harden had 23 points and that's it. A win is a win, but let's be clear. Anthony Davis didn't play either, though.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Anthony Davis did not play. Kevin Durant didn't play either. Yeah, Kevin Durant didn't play. Yeah, but you still got Kyrie Irving and James Harden on the court with LeBron and who? Shout to Amon. Doesn't matter. It's a win. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:07:12 I don't know why Amon Shumpert hasn't played yet because I know they traded him. I've been waiting for Shumpert to play. But anyway, what else are we talking about? Well, they also, since we're talking about that, did name the all-star teams. And so the captains are going to be LeBron and Kevin Durant for their respective
Starting point is 00:07:27 teams. Also on the West, it's going to be Steph Curry, Luka Doncic, I'm going to say his name right, Nikola Jokic, and Kawhi Leonard. And then for the East, it's Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bradley Bill, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, and Kyrie Irving starting. Yeah, I'm not
Starting point is 00:07:44 excited about the all-Star game this year. I mean, I guess it's not a whole weekend around it. And the fact that I know a lot of those players don't want to play. And the fact that I know Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms doesn't want them in Atlanta to begin with. She wants them in Atlanta. She just doesn't want the parties around there. She doesn't want us there. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:00 She wants the NBA there. But that's impossible. There's going to be plenty of parties around it. So it's like a dark cloud over the All-Star game. How many parties you DJing in Atlanta that weekend, NB? Five. See? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Five. Exactly. Five. I understand Keisha Lance Bottoms' concern, but niggas going to nigg. All right? Always remember that. I guess Atlanta has the vaccine before all
Starting point is 00:08:26 of us. People have been doing this everywhere. They had the Super Bowl at Tampa. They've been doing it everywhere. It's not just Atlanta. It's been all-star in Atlanta since this pandemic started. Pretty much. All right. Senator Ted Cruz, by the way, has flown to Cancun,
Starting point is 00:08:42 Mexico. We were talking about this yesterday. One of our listeners called in and she was going through it in Texas. And she was saying that Ted Cruz went over to Cancun and he did fly back. Now, here was his reasoning why. It certainly was not my intention for that to be understood as critics have tried to paint it as somehow diminishing the suffering and hardship other Texans had experienced. It was obviously a mistake. And in hindsight, I wouldn't have done it. I was trying to be a dad.
Starting point is 00:09:10 When you've got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven't had heat or power and they're saying, hey, look, we don't have school. Why don't we go? Let's get out of here. I think there are a lot of parents that'd be like, all right, let me if I can do this. Great. You can get that survival of the fittest. That that survival of the fittest. The mayor, Tim, what's his name? Mayor Tim, the Tim Boyd. That's a survival of the fittest.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Mayor Tim Boyd was talking about yesterday. Oh, yeah. And your family is cold and your family needs water and your family needs food. Is that is that how you survive? That's how you thug it out. But why did he have to go with them? Now, he put out a whole statement about what he did. He said, with school canceled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip, wanting to be a good dad. I flew down with them last night, and I'm flying back this afternoon. My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas. And he said, I will continue to use all our resources to keep Texans informed and safe. Now, he did say that it was like a last minute type of thing.
Starting point is 00:10:06 He wanted to be a good dad. But then they have text messages that were sent by his wife and it painted a different picture. She asked friends in a group chat, anyone can or want to leave for the week? We may go to Cancun. And she said they wanted to get a direct flight. She said their house was freezing and she suggested a trip lasting until Sunday. They also were talking about staying at the Ritz Carlton. Well, if only all the families in Texas could just up and leave and go to Cancun.
Starting point is 00:10:32 That's such a luxury, but it's not a surprise. I mean, these people don't give a damn about us. They are not public servants. They are not here to serve the needs of the public. They are in positions of power for their own self-serving reasons. And those reasons don't have anything to do with the people who elected them in the first place. And when you see folks on the ground, like our guy, Trader Truth,
Starting point is 00:10:49 like our guy, DJ Mr. Rogers, when you see these people actually on the ground, going from location to location, family to family and helping who they can, you got to ask yourself, how come they not the ones in positions of power? Why aren't they the elected officials? Right.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Well, not Ted Cruz, even though he had said- Because they're doing the elected officials job for them. he had said he was going to come right back. But here is what he said. Another statement that seems to contradict that. As I said, really, from the moment I sat on the plane, I began really second guessing that decision and saying, look, I know why we're doing this. But but I've also got responsibilities. And it had been my intention to be able to work remotely, to be on the phone, to be on internet, to be on Zoom, to be engaged. But I needed to be here. And that's why I came back.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Yeah, it was a lie, but I get it. I mean, your kids are freezing. You should have sent your kids and your wife, you know what I mean? You're the senator, you know what I mean? You send your kids and your wife, let them, you know, stay in the warm and you go out there and help the people. That's what you're supposed to be doing. Right. That's what the senator is doing. Right. Supposed to be helping the people of that state. Right. That's what he should have. I think the family got to freeze, too, though. If your constituents are cold, then you got to be cold, too, because guess what? You wouldn't even be in this house or in this position if it wasn't for your constituents.
Starting point is 00:12:03 I think you got to I think you got to thug it out with the rest of the citizens of the state. I really do. You can thug it out, but you send your kids, you send your little girls. I don't know how what age his kids are, but I would send you your little girls and your wife. And then if you got it, if you can afford it, you send them and you stay and you thug it out and you join Trader Truth. And Mr. Rogers, get on the back of their trucks and really help feed the people and rescue people. And that's what I'm saying. The way folks like Trader Truth, Mr. Rogers, and Relief Gang move is how you expect your elected officials to move. You expect them to show up
Starting point is 00:12:29 in your time of need. You expect them to show up when the city and the state is in distress, but no. They on their way to Cancun. Passport stamp, baby. I fly first class to change the forecast. Imagine Ted Cruz would have tweeted that out yesterday.
Starting point is 00:12:45 First class to change the forecast on Imagine Ted Cruz would have tweeted that out yesterday. First class to change the forecast on that ass. Ex-ass. Jesus Christ. Oh my goodness. All right. Well, that is front page news. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Wake up. wake up. Wake your ass up. This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed, we want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? This is Sandra, the Haitian therapist. Hey, Sandra. Hey, Sandra.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Well, I want to say thank you to Charlamagne for not going in on singles this Valentine's Day. I'm very proud of you For that Well I figured You know Since that we had The pandemic Last year People are
Starting point is 00:13:29 Really lonely for real You know what I mean People have literally Been alone for the past year And some change Yes Yes They are
Starting point is 00:13:37 But I thank you for that Because it really Does affect people No I agree That is Yeah Thank you And I think WandaVision that is yeah thank you and i think wandavision is amazing so thank you for uh talking about that oh i can't wait to watch episode seven tonight so i'm
Starting point is 00:13:52 assuming that you were alone on valentine's day but it could be because of the bad covid 19 vice you give out and people know that you don't really social distance and wear a mask and stuff and so it could have been that i have had the second dose of the vaccine for over a month now. So thank you very much. Okay, essential worker, we see you. Look at you. She said calm it down. Oh, this vagina vaccine, vaccined up.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Yes, yes. And I'm okay being single, shall I? When you love yourself, being single is not a punishment. You are good to go, girl. Hello, who's this? This is Lee from Vegas. How y'all doing? What's up, Lee? Give me a good to go, girl. Hello, who's this? This is Lee from Vegas. How y'all doing? What's up, Lee?
Starting point is 00:14:28 Get it off your chest, bro. So, yeah, I was telling you, boy, man, I've been dating this girl that's been on all these fans and she makes like $10,000 a month. You know, she's doing really good for herself. She's a dancer or whatever. We've been talking for like a year.
Starting point is 00:14:41 We had some real ups and downs. I've been kind of like taking a couple of shots and dealing with some I usually wouldn't deal with people. And, you know, I'm kind of wondering like if I'm, you know, the pandemic kind of got me down now, would it be weird for me to ask her like, you know, to join on her only fans to get in a better position in my life? Or like, should I just let her go?
Starting point is 00:15:02 Wait, hold on. You want to be on her only fans or you want to create your own page i mean honestly i'm just trying to get in on the on the money while the money is good you know i'm saying but it's like she kind of hasn't insinuated we've been dating for a while and it's like you know i don't want to be a mooch or anything i would love to establish my own income out of that you know but like i feel like she might not have the love for me that i have for her because she i love it, bro. Plot on them pockets.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Plot on her pockets, bro. Women do it to us all the time. What would be on your page? What would be on your page? I mean, the same thing she do. You know what I'm saying? I don't know what she does. What does she do? She does sexual content.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Okay. So you want to, okay. Why you just don't try to get some of her money? Oh, she is sex. Like sex. I mean, because honestly, I grew up with a single mother, so I would never ask a woman for her money. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:15:49 But it's like, I've been kind of dealing with that lifestyle for a year, and it really hasn't panned out for me. You know what I'm saying? It's kind of embarrassing when everybody knows what your woman's personal stuff was like. And it's like, you know, I'm not saying she owe me anything, but it's like, after a year, you would think she'd be like, yeah, babe, you should get in on this. Why would she tell you she She don't know that you
Starting point is 00:16:06 wanted, she doesn't know that you would want to do that. You can't assume that. Well, we've had a conversation. That's why it's kind of frustrating, because it's like, she said, she don't think I'm ready for that lifestyle, and I'm like, what? She might be ready. What's her Instagram? Shout it out, man. Like, send people to her Instagram so she
Starting point is 00:16:21 can make more money. No, it's OnlyFans. Her OnlyFans. I ain't making no money. I ain't doing it. She done already got enough help from me. Wow. King, let me tell you something, man. Send people to her Instagram so she can make more money. No, it's OnlyFans. If I ain't making no money, I ain't doing it. She done already got enough help from me. Wow. Let me tell you something, King. Why don't you approach her like the boss that she is and why don't you say, look, boss lady, how can I earn an extra $1,000, $2,000 a month working
Starting point is 00:16:38 for you? And then ask her what you ask her. Really? Why don't you just do it? Why don't you be her manager? Why don't you be her manager, bro? She already got content on there with her ex that she cheated on me. She don't need it. Yeah, she don't.
Starting point is 00:16:52 What? Why don't you just start your own page? Y'all missing some good stuff. Y'all ain't listening to me. I know. He said she has content with her ex that he cheated. Yeah, you got to take that down. Yeah, you got to take that down.
Starting point is 00:17:04 I kind of, you know, took it to the chin because I was like, yeah, maybe. Oh, you gotta take that down. Yeah, you gotta take that down. I kinda, you know, took it to the chin because I was like, yeah, maybe I'll just Oh, so did she. You know, but yeah, I had to get that off my chest. She got me messed up, y'all. So I'm gonna find another OnlyFans girl. I'm sorry. Why don't you just start your own page?
Starting point is 00:17:20 Why do you need her to start your page? Just start it. I think men's OnlyFans kinda goes with, a lot of money put in a promo. She kind of showed me how it all goes. And I'm like, it'd be so much easier. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm about to go through all that work. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:17:31 You should follow Bobby. You should follow Bobby Lights and do what he does. He does a great job on his. Well, thank you, Angela. I appreciate that. And I appreciate you guys' support for the men and women. You appreciate a recommendation to follow Bobby Lights' page? All right.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Well, if he likes it, he likes it, bro. All right. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:17:58 This is your time to get it off your chest, whether you're mad or blessed. You better have the same energy. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello. Who's this? Yeah, what's up, Envy? What's up, Trav? I was just talking about you, Trav.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Oh, what are you saying? I was just giving advice, and I was like, you need to do what Trav does, but I'll talk about it later. Okay. What's up, Char? Peace, sis. What's happening? How you doing? I'm blessed, black, and highly favored. You sound disgusted with me. What I do?
Starting point is 00:18:24 Okay. Let me ask you a question. Yes. Me and my best friend got into a little argument last night right so on wanda vision do you think wanda's a good person or do you think that he is a bad person for what she's doing man that's such a great question i think wanda is grieving you know what i mean and that's the thing about the marvel movies they always show the superheroes in a human light so i think that she's she's just simply grieving she lost her brother you know what i mean and that's the thing about the marvel movies they always show the superheroes in a human light so i think that she's she's just simply grieving she lost her brother you know she lost she lost vision her the love of her life and i think she's just grieving so i you know i can't judge her for what she's doing while she's while she's grieving you know that's so crazy you
Starting point is 00:18:57 sound like my best friend i was telling i was like but no i said but what she's doing to the people and the way that she's controlling their mind and everything that she's doing to them she is like really showing me that she's not really a good person oh well two things can be true i think i think both of y'all are right you know i mean but but i think that's just up the whole show is up for interpretation you know i mean but she's definitely grieving though yeah yeah yeah you're right you're right you're right but i was going to talk about two things real quick so fan bases there are two horrible fan bases I want to talk about. One is the Eagles. They kept saying how Carson went. They're horrible. I hate the
Starting point is 00:19:29 Eagles fans. I hate Eagles fans. They kept talking about how Carson went. Was better than Dak Prescott. And now, look, they got rid of that bum quarterback and sent him to the coach, right? Yep. And now what they got to say,
Starting point is 00:19:46 because Zach Prescott was always better. And second is, and this has nothing to do with Nicki Minaj, because Nicki has been chilling. What are you talking about this morning? Say it again. Go ahead. Nicki has been chilling. She's minding her business, and she has been doing good. But her fan base is still one of the most disgusting
Starting point is 00:20:06 trash fan bases. And they literally, all they do is go around and mess with other female rappers. They be mad at their business, bro. Yeah, nah. I bet you won't put your, I bet you won't put your
Starting point is 00:20:18 Twitter, Instagram out there, though. You know them bobs that show up at your front door. I don't put up my, I've only put up my Instagram. That's right. You scared, you talking slick about the bobs, but you won You know them bobs will show up at your front door. I've only put up my Instagram. You talking slick about the bobs, but you won't tell the bobs where to find you to pull up.
Starting point is 00:20:31 You won't tell the bobs to pull up, though, Trav. The garbs need a life, man. But all right, y'all. All right, Trav. Hello, who's this? Hi, this is Victoria from Canada. Hey, Victoria from Canada. Get it off your chest. Hey, Angelo E., Charlamagne Tha Gomez, DJ Envy.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Good morning. Thank you. Thank you for the intro. I just want to apologize on behalf of all of Canada for Ted Cruz and say we do not want him back. I want to be talking to all of you. I want to give a shout out to you I love your new segment
Starting point is 00:21:08 On celebrating black people We do that every black history month I am a black man In a little white girl's body Okay you trans black I don't have big energy Oh my gosh Thank you for calling, Mama.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Average energy is fine, too, though. That got weird. Have a great day. You, too. All right. No, what's so good about that call? She's a white woman, right, who was celebrating black people, but also went to a stereotypical trope about black men.
Starting point is 00:21:40 I know. I didn't want to break her heart and tell her that's definitely not true. Well, maybe the people that she's experienced, it's true. it off your chest 800-585-1051 we got rumors on the way yes i'm gonna tell you what a rapper is going to be making his big screen debut opposite robert de niro all right we'll get into it next it's the breakfast club good morning the breakfast club is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed?
Starting point is 00:22:07 A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tribe own country. My forefathers did that themselves.
Starting point is 00:22:34 What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. Bullets. We need help!
Starting point is 00:22:51 We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. Starting point is 00:24:32 I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. history to life through hip-hop. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the
Starting point is 00:25:01 city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was called a moment. Get the kids in your life excited about history
Starting point is 00:25:18 by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to rumors. Let's send the rest of peace to Prince Marky. Listen up. It's just in. All the gossip.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Gossip. The rumor report. Gossip. Gossip. With Angela Yee. It's the rumor report. The Breakfast Club. All right.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Well, a big rest in peace to Prince Marky D. He is one third of the group, the Fat Boys. He passed away suddenly yesterday. They did not mention a cause of death on the Rock the Bells channel on Sirius, where he used to host a radio show. Now, he also was part of the pioneering rock group, like I said, the Fat Boys. And remember, they had that movie called The Disorderlies. They were also in Crush Groove. Prince Marky D moved on to a solo career after the Fat Boys. He did sign with Columbia Records.
Starting point is 00:26:23 He released his debut album Free in 1992. And he also worked as a radio host. And yeah, so rest in peace. Yeah, if you've been in Miami the last 10 years, if you've been in Miami the last 10 years, he DJed a lot of the strip clubs. So when you're probably at the strip clubs, he was probably DJing.
Starting point is 00:26:41 And he was a great dude. He always took care of me and my family when we came down there and he was DJing. He was DJing for like the longest time. I think he did Booby Trap. He did a couple. What was that big, big club in Miami that time? King of Diamonds?
Starting point is 00:26:57 He DJed most of it. G5. He DJed a lot of those clubs. And like I said, very, very good dude. You know, you come into the club, he always comes, gives you a pound and a hug just to say what's up and have great conversations. So definitely rest in peace. He also wrote and produced for other artists. Yeah, 52 years old. He wrote and produced for other artists too, like Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Drake, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Destiny's Child, Frank Ocean. So what did he write for Drake? I mean, I'm sure, I don't know exactly what he wrote,
Starting point is 00:27:26 but he has writing credit on some of those songs. Big records, too. Big Mary J. Blige records. Big Mariah Carey records. Stuff like Real Love. I was actually looking at Artemis Gordon's page yesterday, and he was posting all of the different songs that Prince Marky D produced or wrote on.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Like, very, very extensive catalog. Absolutely. Yeah. So, rest in peace to Prince Marky D produced or wrote on, like very, very extensive catalog. Absolutely. Yeah. So rest in peace to Prince Marky. He also used to be on 103.5 in Miami. 103.5 The Beat. Mm-hmm. All right.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Now, Quavo is making his big screen debut opposite Robert De Niro, and the movie is called Wash Me in the River. So the film is shooting in Puerto Rico right now. And according to Quavo, he told Variety, I honestly think this movie is going to be one of the greatest to come of this time. The experience was unbelievable for me with Robert De Niro and Jack Huston being so down to earth and making me feel like family. Going to see me doing some stunts and a lot of what you hear from me in my rap. This is one of my biggest debuts I've ever had.
Starting point is 00:28:19 And so proud of what we did and to get to work with Randall, who's such an amazing guy. I can't wait to do more films with him. I love to see it. I wanted to see more of the Migos, you know, Quavo and the Migos on the screen since that appearance they had in Atlanta. So I think that's a great look for Quavo.
Starting point is 00:28:36 All right. And Sihai the Prince, he says that the alleged gunman chased him on the highway as he tried to escape in reverse. We already told you about this earlier. Saihai the Prince was driving in Atlanta and he got ran off the road and shot at. And we don't know who did it.
Starting point is 00:28:58 He has no idea if it was a mistaken identity, if those people were really looking for him. But here's what he had to say on TMZ Live. I was on the highway and I thought they were trying to race me. So I tried to like just, you know, go to the next lane. They speed up and get next to me again. I realized they were following me. So I tried to speed off and smash on the brakes so they could go past me. They actually smashed on their brakes on the highways. So we almost had a pile up. So I tried to get to the right shoulder and I put my car in reverse and start reversing back up the highway. And they made you turn on the highway and start driving towards me. Yeah. So let me just tell people out there who don't know something similar happened to me.
Starting point is 00:29:37 But when you drive in reverse, your car only goes 30 miles per hour in reverse. So if you're trying to back out of a situation like backing down a highway, because I tried to do the same thing, your car can only go 30 miles an hour. I guess they put a limit on the car how fast you could go backwards. So you can only go 30 miles an hour. So when those guys turned around to get them,
Starting point is 00:29:55 they can catch them immediately because your car can only go but so fast going in reverse. What happened after Si High did the abrupt U-turn? Why did it cut off like that? What happened? Well, he turned around and he tried to take off. He wound up crashing into a ditch.
Starting point is 00:30:08 The car flipped over. He hopped out the sunroof and kept it moving and started running. And he seen him come to the car. Do you want to hear what Sy High had to say? Oh, I didn't know. I didn't know if you had it. Yeah. I'm like, why'd it cut off?
Starting point is 00:30:16 Yeah, because it cut off. I didn't know you had it. I was intrigued. Here you go. Well, I was getting off at the exit. That's when the gunfire started. Me, I'm just kind of swerving back and forth, ducking and everything. And it was so much gunfire, I had to just go on and do what I felt like was best for myself.
Starting point is 00:30:32 So I felt like if it was a car robbery, if I wrecked the car, that they wouldn't want the car no more. I didn't expect to hit a pole and hit a tree. I was just trying to go to the side of the road. But I was going so fast that I lost control of it. And that's when I landed in the tree. All right. And then what? That's when they started shooting at him after that?
Starting point is 00:30:56 Right. They were shooting at the car and everything. He's really fortunate. That has to be one of the most traumatizing experiences, like to think God really got you. Did he come to any conclusions because i know prior he didn't know whether they were trying to rob him or kill him like i don't think he talked about that no he doesn't know and the words of sean carter uh broke because don't want no cash they just want to kill you
Starting point is 00:31:19 that's all right well that is your rumor report. All right, thank you, Missy. People are miserable right now. If they can't get no money, the jealousy and envy they have for you just having and them not having at this moment, they'll take you out just for that. And that sounds so crazy. So crazy. All right, well, front page news next. What are we talking about? Well, let's talk about the officers under investigation after the Capitol riots. We'll give you some updates.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Where are we starting, Ye? Yes, well, let's start with the Capitol police who are now being investigated. Six Capitol police officers have been suspended, 29 others being investigated for their alleged roles in the riots that happened on January 6th at the Capitol. So right now, one of these suspended officers, they are saying, took a selfie with someone who was part of the mob thatth at the Capitol. So right now, one of these suspended officers,
Starting point is 00:32:05 they are saying, took a selfie with someone who was part of the mob that overtook the Capitol. Another wore a Make America Great Again hat and started directing people around the building. So these suspensions and investigations come at a time of a lot of turmoil at the department as officers are trying to figure out who was in on it. But we knew this already though.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Yeah, we knew this already. And suspensions are not enough. Forget investigations. I hate when they say investigations, when we saw these things happen on video. Like there's nothing to investigate. The six officers who have been suspended have been suspended with pay. It's like a vacation. It makes no logical sense whatsoever everybody everybody is is
Starting point is 00:32:47 deserved due process but some situations due process is absolutely positively not necessary especially situations like this get rid of them they gotta go bye they should have been fired immediately when people come in the capital and they're trying to attack and kill people got killed and you're taking selfies and pictures. Absolutely. And you're directing people to where to go. You should be fired immediately. That feels like that's... They're traitors.
Starting point is 00:33:12 That's treason. You know what I mean? I thought that we don't negotiate with people who commit treason in America. Like, come on, man. All right. Now, right now, State Assembly Republicans are trying to form an impeachment commission to gather facts and evidence. And that is all surrounding Governor Andrew Cuomo in New York's handling and subsequent cover up of the COVID-19 crisis in nursing homes in New York.
Starting point is 00:33:33 So right now they're saying that next week they'll introduce a bill to create a bipartisan panel that's going to examine the state's method of administration and conduct in all matters related to nursing homes and long-term care facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. So they said that Cuomo's top aide, Melissa DeRosa, admitted on a conference call with lawmakers that Cuomo, his administration withheld the true death toll of nursing home residents for fear that it would be used against us by federal prosecutors. They said it's one of the most alarming scandals we've seen in government. Damn. Yeah, we will keep you updated. And I've been trying to follow this
Starting point is 00:34:12 story now because I guess he was feeling like this was going to be used against him. But you can't lie. You still have a responsibility, even if you feel like Donald Trump as president is going to take away some resources from you and attack you. You still have a responsibility to report the correct numbers. Yeah, I can't even speak on the situation because I haven't even heard about the situation.
Starting point is 00:34:33 Yeah. And according to sources, they're saying that Cuomo is threatening people and threaten their career if they did not cover up for what she said. So, you know, they said Governor Cuomo tried to pressure them to issue statements and it was very traumatizing and there's certain lines that you're not supposed to cross and they said he was very angry and threatening people and threatening to destroy people's careers if they told. Everybody got to be held accountable for the consequences
Starting point is 00:34:58 of their actions, okay? I don't care how good you were during a pandemic. I don't care how good you were during a pandemic keeping, you know care how good you were during a pandemic, keeping the city abreast of what was going on. If that happened, then you got to be held accountable. Period. Alright, well that is your front page news.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Alright, thank you, Miss Yee. Now when we come back, let's open up the phone lines. Now you just don't get to the phones like that. It's Friday, right? Yes, it is Friday. Thank you, Envy. Wow, okay. It's Friday, right? Do it. Yes, it is Friday. Say it, Envy. Wow, okay. It's Friday, so you know what that means. It's Freaky
Starting point is 00:35:30 Freaky Freaky Friday! Let's talk penises. How many is too many? You tell us. How many is too many, Charlamagne? I don't know. What's the conversation? You just asked us. You just said let's talk penises. How many is too many? Charlamagne? I don't know. What's the conversation? You just asked us. You just said, let's talk penises.
Starting point is 00:35:47 How many is too many? So you got to answer the question. I was setting it up, but let's set it up for our... That's called a headline. I'm grabbing the people in. I'm bringing them in. You're holding them in. You're pulling them in, right?
Starting point is 00:35:56 You're grabbing the penises. I'm bringing them in. I'm bringing them in. Bring them all in. There you go. I know how to entertain. I've been doing this radio thing for a long time. Radio Hall of Famer right here, baby.
Starting point is 00:36:04 There you go. How many is too much to bring in? So we're talking a long time. Radio Hall of Famer right here, baby. There you go. There's too much to bring in. So we're talking Boosie. Of course, Boosie had all types of opinions about Lori Harvey and who she's dating. We have audio? I wake up to all these Lori Harvey fans on my ass. I just say, y'all got it f***ed up saying that's gold. If you're saying that's gold, that means you want your daughter to f seven or eight, nine niggas in a couple months in the industry. If that's gold, if
Starting point is 00:36:29 that's cool with you for your daughter doing that, then I can't say shit. But what's wrong with y'all motherfuckers is y'all salute the woman who get passed around, but y'all dog the woman who stick by they n***a when they n***a f*** over. Alright, so what is the question guys? Charlamagne? For me, I think the question is, you know, do you care about your woman's body count?
Starting point is 00:36:55 How many penises is too many? 800-585-1051. Charlamagne wants to know how many penises is too many. So call us up right now. Let's have a conversation. Do you care about your woman's body count? Uh, let's talk about it.
Starting point is 00:37:08 All right. It's the breakfast club. Good morning. The breakfast club. It's topic time. Call 800-585-1051 to join into the discussion with the breakfast club let's talk about it morning everybody it's dj envy angela yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club now if you just join us we're talking about bussy now bussy uh had these comments about
Starting point is 00:37:37 laurie harvey let's hear them i just say y'all got it up saying that's gold if you saying that's gold that means you want your daughter to seven or eight nine in a couple months in the industry if that's gold if that's cool with you for your daughter doing that then i can't say but what's wrong with y'all mother is y'all salute the woman who get passed around but y'all dog the woman who stick by they when they over so we're asking 800-585-1051 do you care about your partner's body count you didn't do it go back press rewind y'all forget why we here it's friday come on all right it's friday so you know what that means it's freaky freaky fre, Freaky Friday! All right.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Now, Charlamagne asked a question since it's Freaky, Freaky Friday. Charlamagne wants to know how many penises? Yeah, how many penises is too many? Do you care about your woman's body count? You know what I mean? Like, that's been the conversation all week. All right. So let's open up the phone lines.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Let's talk about it. Let's start with you, Charlamagne. What do you think? Well, I'm not on the phone. But, I mean, it's layers to what Boosie said, right? Number one, we just assume, you know, Lori Harvey is having sex with all these guys. We don't know that, you know, she did.
Starting point is 00:38:49 She could just be dating, but whatever, you know, and number two, Boosie said, would I want my daughter sleeping with seven or eight guys in a matter of months? Right. The answer is hell no. I don't want that for my daughter at all. But third, and this is the most important thing. You have to remember the serenity prayer at times like this. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and most importantly, the wisdom to know the difference. My brothers,
Starting point is 00:39:13 let me tell you something. Your wisdom should tell you that you can't control what any woman does with her vagina, period. And you will drive yourself crazy thinking that you can. And when it comes to your woman, you can't change her past so if you grow to love a woman and she tell you she got 20 bodies 40 bodies whatever it is you're not gonna leave her if you've really grown to love her and guess what the reason women don't tell you their real body count is because they know you can't handle it so i don't know what boozy talking about to be honest because every woman got a past and he's saying you can't handle it so i don't know what boozy talking about to be honest because every woman got a pass and he's saying you don't care the women that he's with got a pass i mean so you're saying
Starting point is 00:39:49 you don't care boozy by the way has clearly slept with a whole lot of women based on the amount of children that he has in children's mothers so and and the main the main reason that i don't care is because like i said once you grow to love a woman any any penis other than yours is one too many. You know what I'm saying? That's just the way a man's ego is set up. But can you learn to look, can you love a woman knowing that, let's say there's 20, 30 or 40 before you love it. When you, when you first start dating, can you continue on knowing that there might've been 30 or 40? Oh no, that's no, that's not going to work in the beginning.
Starting point is 00:40:20 But that's what I'm saying. Well, that's, that's part of it. I think a real confident and secure, it's easy to say, Oh, I don't want this that's part of it. I think a real confident and secure, it's easy to say, oh, I don't want this, I don't want that. But a real confident and secure man doesn't care who was with you before if they with you now.
Starting point is 00:40:32 No. That's how I feel. I have never ever had a man even ask me how many guys have you slept with? I think that's a weird question because I wouldn't even ask a guy that. Like who even asked anybody that? That's not a beginner
Starting point is 00:40:45 question either though that's a question that you have later later later later on you don't just give up your body count why are you just telling your body count on the first date no but but if you're dating somebody and you get to that that conversation and let's say the number is 30 can you see yourself moving on with that person before you fall in love before you get into the all that no myself you know I cannot. I'm just being honest. I cannot. Yeah, that's not a beginner's question, but if you've already grown to love that person, you ain't
Starting point is 00:41:11 leaving just because they got 30 bodies. Because guess what? You probably got 30 or 40 of your damn self. What if she left you because all the bodies you got? That is facts. But let's go to the full on. Real confident men don't care who you've been with before them they just care that they with you now
Starting point is 00:41:25 and nobody should use your past I'm not a confident man because if you knocked off 50 dudes and I know you knocked off 50 dudes I'm not confident enough
Starting point is 00:41:32 to be with you that's just me and it's hypocritical because y'all be sleeping with all these women and then want somebody to be not doing what you did
Starting point is 00:41:38 somebody is safe and confident and they do what they want to do with their body we're missing one very important thing here though. What's that? Because Boosie specifically talked about
Starting point is 00:41:50 these guys in the industry and sadly, if a woman sleeps with one or two guys in the same profession, she does get labeled a hoe. It's just the truth. It's not that she is a hoe, but she gets labeled that the truth like it's not it's not that she is a hoe but she gets labeled that so it's like if you sleep with you're not going to date a guy if that guy slept with
Starting point is 00:42:09 your friend and then somebody else your friend is different that's a that's more of a girl code i don't care if it's just one person you slept with that one person is your friend then that's just a different thing but if it's other people then yeah okay let me ask you a question if you was dating a guy who you found out slept with three or four other radio personalities, would you stay with that guy? No. As long as they're not my friends, then that's just girl code. If it wasn't my friends and I don't know these women like that, maybe I just know them casually,
Starting point is 00:42:37 then that's fine. So if he openly dated three or four other people in the industry, right? Just openly dated, like in the radio business, you wouldn't care? No, I wouldn't. What if he's a radio personality too, and that's who he's around? Now, what about you, Sean?
Starting point is 00:42:51 Let's say you were dating a woman that was the same situation, dated many men in the industry, three, four guys in the industry. Could you continue dating that person? I'm married, sir. I can't even have that. Yo, yo, yo, I hate you.
Starting point is 00:43:03 Listen, I'm going to tell you something. I don't even hypothetically cheat no more, bro. Okay? You came up with this question. What are you talking about? But let's go to the phone line. We were talking about penises. Oh, penises makes it slide in easy.
Starting point is 00:43:14 Okay, I get it. Hello, who's this? It's George. Hey, George. So we're asking, George, does your girl's body count matter to you? If your girl was... Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:24 It's like a car, man. You can't have too much miles on a car. You're a liar. Why you call him a liar? Let me ask you a question. So what if you've already grown to love this woman? The woman that you with now, right? That's different.
Starting point is 00:43:36 You grew to love her. That's different. So as you grew to love her, you've been with her, then she tell you your body count. You leaving her? No, but it's going to be an argument every time we get... Every time she pisses me off be a it's gonna be an argument every time we get every time something she picks me up it's gonna be an argument that's fine
Starting point is 00:43:48 but you can't say you can't say if you love her already like if you love her already there's a lot of things that's gonna slide if you found out that she was a a prostitute way back when that might slide but i'm talking about if you're dating her and you know that she had 40 dudes or she had 30 dudes or 20 dudes could you still stay in that situation i really i really don't think you can help where you go okay yeah but it depends how long ago it was well it's last year we know we got covid going on we got well listen what if and i'm just using michael b Jordan Because that's Lori Harvey's current boot right What if they get married
Starting point is 00:44:27 And have kids And live happily ever after What if that's really his one What if that's really his soulmate Who cares who came before him And if that's the case Alright well 800-585-1051 We'll take some more of your calls
Starting point is 00:44:41 It's The Breakfast Club Good morning. It's Friday, so you know what that means. It's Freaky, Freaky, Freaky Friday! And the Freaky, Freaky, Freaky Friday question comes from Boosie. Now, Boosie was talking on Lori Harvey, and this is what he had to say. I just say y'all got it f***ed up saying that's gold. If you saying that's gold, that means you want your daughter to f*** seven or eight, nine n****s in a couple months in the industry.
Starting point is 00:45:26 If that's gold, if that's cool with you for your daughter doing that, then I can't say s***. But what's wrong with y'all motherf***ers is y'all salute the woman who get passed around, but y'all dog the woman who stick by they n***a when they f*** over. I don't personally, I'm going to be honest with you, I just don't personally care. I mean, you know, call me a simple whatever it is, but I know that every woman has a past. And, you know, even if you know about that past, you cannot help who you grow to love. That's just my mentality. It is what it is. I get what you're saying, grow to love. But if you notice before you fall in love with them, could you continue on? Could you continue to date? That's the question. Because if you fall in love with somebody, a lot of things slide because you already get to
Starting point is 00:46:03 notice each other. But a lot of times you won't get to know that that person because of their past or because of something that you've heard. That's that's just the truth. But but even even if you've already heard these things. Right. And even if you already know this person's past, you know, men are so quick to add to a woman's body count. Right. Even though we know about a person's past, we quick to add to the body count. What if as we're adding to that body count, just in conversation, we actually dig this person. And you get to know this person and you like this person
Starting point is 00:46:29 and you really do grow to love this person. Like I don't, you know, I just, you know, it's different ways to look at this. Like if you know a girl got like, you know, a train ran on her by like some of your boys, that's a little different.
Starting point is 00:46:40 You know what I mean? It doesn't matter. But let's say if you fall into it. No, it doesn't. If you fall in love with her and you already fall in love with her, she tells you something happened 10 years ago. Do you fall out of love with her that happened 10 years ago, 20 years ago?
Starting point is 00:46:52 That's what I'm saying. But if you know it, going into the relationship, it's a done deal. For myself, it matters. To me, it matters. Especially when you meet somebody, it matters. That's what I mean. If you know of a girl and somebody got a train ran on her before you start kicking it with her, that's different. But I mean, you you know a girl and somebody got a train ran on her before you start kicking it with her, that's different. But I mean, you know,
Starting point is 00:47:07 if she tell you that five years, even a year or two into the relationship and you already into her, you're just like, oh man, you know what it is. Let's throw some holy water on that vagina and keep it moving, man. Let's pray for repentance. I pray for repentance for your vagina, you know what I mean? Let's take your vagina to the past
Starting point is 00:47:24 and let's pray over it. And listen, Boosie tried to say that he wouldn't want to date Lori Harvey. I don't believe that. I don't believe that. They were like, would you date her? He was like, nah, like, come on, stop. And by the way, Lori getting a bad rap too, because we don't know if Lori's sleeping with these men. And that's true too. We don't know what Lori's Harvey relationship is. She could just be dating.
Starting point is 00:47:39 And there's nothing wrong with dating somebody. But even if she is, who cares? She could do what she wants. It's her body, whatever. He shouldn't care who anybody else is dating. If it's not your girl, what do you care what she does? All right, let's go to the phone line. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:47:54 This is Katrina. Hey, good morning. We're talking your significant other's body counts. Does it matter? In the back of my mind, to be honest, you always think about it, but it's always kind of like, what are you willing to accept and not accept. And sometimes I feel that, you know, sometimes men, not trying to be discriminated,
Starting point is 00:48:11 but sometimes making it away with a lot more than women can, especially based off our chemistry and our makeup. But worst-case scenario, you can always just have that person go test it because you never know what you pick up along the way because you have all these people that you slept with and the people that they slept with I've been saying, I mean
Starting point is 00:48:34 there's some stuff that, you know soap and water and hand sanitizer don't get rid of No, that's true That's very true Alright, thank you mama. Hello, who's this? It's Big E Hey, what's going on asking does a person's body count matter to you when you're dating them honestly it don't matter to me
Starting point is 00:48:51 but it just mattered to me that some of the guys think that they did something like your girl could get the same treatment you know what i'm saying but another thing too, Charlamagne, I seen on your Instagram, like, women talking about, oh, he couldn't get no, your daddy didn't get no women. Like, how do that? Me and my wife got the same, all our kids through the same person. Me and her. Four kids. So that's what I'm like, that's stupid to do like that.
Starting point is 00:49:22 But you know that, though. But that's why I posted it, because niggas going nigg. I posted it because it was funny, man. The guy said, the girl said, having the same parents with all your siblings is a flex. And another girl retweeted her and said, if your dad ain't getting no bitches, just say that. That's so stupid, man. All right, man. Thank you, brother. What's the man. Thank you, brother.
Starting point is 00:49:45 What's the moral of the story, guys? I mean, the moral of the story is simply you just cannot control what a woman does with her body and what a woman has done in the past. Hey, man, that honestly might keep you from getting your soul made if you care. Truthfully. That's just something that I don't know if you should necessarily give a damn about it in that way. Personally. I well, we got rumors coming up. So don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are the Breakfast Club. Starting point is 00:51:23 I think I did something on financial freedom. I think I did some financial freedom and generational wealth and real estate. I can't remember. We've been doing so many of these. I don't know if this goes to that. I really don't know. Well, I filmed my part in our juice bar, Juices for Life in Brooklyn. So we're having some drama right now.
Starting point is 00:51:40 No, this is the one I did with Gia. This is actually, I did Black Love. I don't remember. I don't remember. I don't remember. Eddie! You don't know what's going on. All right, well, we got rumors coming up. Yeah, I don't know what's going on with that either.
Starting point is 00:51:53 Beyonce and Adidas, they are providing financial assistance to people who have been affected by the winter storm. We'll give you more information on that. And also, what else she has coming out today. All right. Beyonce doing more than them bum-ass politicians in Texas like Ted Cruz and Tim Boyd. All right. We'll get into that next.
Starting point is 00:52:11 It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine.
Starting point is 00:52:23 I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Be part of a great colonial tradition. Why can't I create my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. Well, why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that?
Starting point is 00:52:54 Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast Post Run High is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my
Starting point is 00:53:33 guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, y'all? This is Questlove,
Starting point is 00:54:17 and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone.
Starting point is 00:54:58 The tip of the cap is another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was called a moment. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee,
Starting point is 00:55:46 Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Beyonce. This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee. Rumor has it. On The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:55:58 So listen up. All right, Beyonce and Adidas are providing financial assistance to people who have been affected by the winter storm. Her Be Good Foundation has announced they have teamed up with Adidas and Bread of Life. And they're going to seek to give up to $1,000 to individuals who have some financial hardships because of the disaster that has left a lot of people in Texas without food, water or power. So if you need to do that, you can go fill out an application to get that financial relief. And people in surrounding states can apply as well. But the emphasis is
Starting point is 00:56:30 that it's a one-time payment. It's not for ongoing financial challenges. It's only for people because they were affected by this storm. Hey, man. Beyonce doing more. Beyonce doing more for Texas than those bum-ass politicians, Ted Cruz and Tim Boyd. And it's great
Starting point is 00:56:45 marketing for Icy Park, by the way. Yeah, they actually are releasing this new Adidas collection today that she has, the Ivy Park clothing label with Adidas. And so the Icy Park capsule... Oh, it's Ivy. But Icy Park is the capsule part of Ivy Park. So Ivy Park is the overall
Starting point is 00:57:01 brand. She don't need no press. That thing sells out in minutes, so she definitely don't need no press. You can go to adidas.com slash Ivy Park and see what's available if you can get yourself anything today. All right. And let's talk about Young Thug. Young Thug is saying that criticism doesn't hurt him because his family doesn't want for anything. Now he was on social media, on Instagram, and he posted this. It's gone, kids. I don't care about having friends. And it's just for all the young entrepreneurs that's taking care of business, but still worried about how motherfuckers look at them and how they're viewed, you know? Like, sometimes I be having to come to my senses like, bro, all my people straight. That's right.
Starting point is 00:57:56 Perspective. I really like Thugga Thugga. I really like young Thugga. I like Thug too. I like Thug too. Not only does his family not want for anything, but, like, listen to all the real stuff he just broke down and he got going on in his life. Like who got time to really be caring about what people say about you on the Internet or anything else when your family is going through real life issues and coming through on the other side? It's all about perspective. I like that, Thug 2.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Absolutely. All right. And Kodak Black is engaged. Some people are saying he's already married, but who knows? But he did propose. And the woman is Mellow Rack. She's another rapper. And he also posted a, she posted a social media clip. He gave her a diamond ring and there was an aircraft in the sky that said the message, might as well marry me, Melody. I love you. Now, when he was on The Breakfast Club, he was saying that he was in love with somebody.
Starting point is 00:58:43 I don't know if it's her or somebody else, but listen to this. You think you could be monogamous, though? Yeah. Do you know what monogamous means, Kodak? No. I know. Exactly. That means that you can be faithful to one woman.
Starting point is 00:58:54 One woman. All the way. Yeah, I could. Listen, the other night, I fell asleep on the phone with a girl. I ain't do that since, like, middle school. So that's your girl? What was you saying to her? We were just chopping her up. For the first night ever, you talked to only one girl. Yeah. So that's your girl? What was you saying to her? We were just chopping it up.
Starting point is 00:59:05 For the first night ever, you talked to only one girl? Yeah. Is that the one? I hope so. Okay. I wonder if that's who young Kodak was talking about. Wasn't Kodak just singing to JT the other day though? Yes, he sure was.
Starting point is 00:59:21 From the city girl. But there's also other drama. There's all kinds of drama that's going on. Now there's another woman that says she was recently with Kodak Black. And she said they've been dealing with each other on and off since 2018. Her name is Rine Trill. And she posted, I was just at his house in Florida. And, you know, she posted about the girl, why she thinks she's doing something. And then this is all kinds of drama.
Starting point is 00:59:47 I don't even understand what's going on. There's a man now that's claiming that he is Mello Rax's ex and he said they were together just last week. I'm confused. I'm setting a date on the yacht for my baby. She's mad at me. Been set it up.
Starting point is 01:00:00 Sending her Addie, sending her everything she don't pull up. Man, good gifts and all. Showing me good drinks, good eats. F***ing crazy. Who was that? That's the dude. That's the guy that says he was Mello Rax's boyfriend that says that they were together last week.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Well, she engaged to Kodak now. So once again, that goes back to the conversation we was just having about 20, 30 minutes ago. It don't matter. One of my OGs told me that one time. He said, you know, a dude would be like, yeah, I used to sleep with his girl. I sleep with her now.
Starting point is 01:00:30 You know what I'm saying? She with me now. Like, it is what it is. Like, who cares? And also too, in Kodak's defense, he did just get out of jail. How long he was in jail? A couple years? Yep. Listen, guys fall in love in jail with them phone calls, letters, pictures. But no, I'm talking about if he was indeed with another girl other than his fiance, he just got out of jail.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Getting some of the rust off, that's all. Well, there's a lot of drama going on surrounding this on both of their ends. So I guess now it's F the world, it's us against the world, right? Yeah, I hope Kodak's happy. I hope he has found love and I hope he stays out of jail. Slowly. That's all that matters Alright
Starting point is 01:01:08 Well I'm Angela Yee And that is your rumor report Alright thank you Miss Yee Charlemagne Yes sir Who you giving that donkey to? For after the hour I'm giving donkey of the day
Starting point is 01:01:18 To the worst Cuban American In Congress So says the Miami Herald Ted Cruz We need him to come To the front of the congregation. We'd like to have a word with him, please. All right, we'll get to that next.
Starting point is 01:01:27 It's the Breakfast Club. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this.
Starting point is 01:01:41 It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition.
Starting point is 01:01:56 Why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets.
Starting point is 01:02:11 Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more.
Starting point is 01:02:40 After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast Post Run High is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. Listen to post run high on the I heart radio app,
Starting point is 01:03:25 Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So y'all, this is Questlove and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman
Starting point is 01:03:36 called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out.
Starting point is 01:03:56 Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history, like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Starting point is 01:04:46 Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This don't be a donkey, because right now you want some real donkeys. It's time for Donkey of the Day. So if you ever feel i need to be a donkey man hit it with the heel did she get donkey today please i have become donkey of the day at the breakfast club bitches you're a donkey donkey of the day for friday february 19th goes to senator of texas ted cruz now yesterday i gave the biggest hee-haw to colorado city texas mayor tim boyd or should i say ex-mayor because he resigned
Starting point is 01:05:33 after this because tim boyd wrote on facebook that no one owes you or your no no one owes you or your family anything nor is it the local government's responsibility to support you during trying times like this sink or swim it's your choice the city and county along with power providers or any other service owes you nothing i'm sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout that was the former mayor of colorado city texas talking to his constituents in texas in regards to the deadly and record-breaking winter storm that has left much of the state without power since Tuesday. Now, Tim Boyd said, for anyone who doesn't have heat or that, what? What being water and power? Tim Boyd said only the strong will survive and the weak will perish. He said, if you have no water, you deal without and think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family. Well, you have folks like 23-year-old Kevin Ayala, his wife and four-year-old son who tried to think outside the box to keep warm.
Starting point is 01:06:31 When their electricity went out, Kevin used the generator to keep warm, but he bought the generator inside the kitchen, which caused the house to fill with carbon monoxide. They got sleepy and passed out. Luckily, a friend stopped by and was able to rush them to the hospital so his wife and son recovered, but Kevin sadly passed away. Now, Kevin, Tim, clearly did what he had to do to survive. Is he not strong because he didn't make it, Tim Boyd?
Starting point is 01:06:57 Inquiring, taxpaying citizens would like to know because when I hear stories like that, those are true stories of folks attempting to live. Those are true stories of folks fighting the elements and doing what they had to do in order to keep their families warm and literally losing their lives to do it. Well, I tell you what, Jay Jenkins' voice, they wouldn't have to risk their lives to survive if they had elected officials who actually gave a damn about the people they are supposed to represent. You got this human jar of Hellman's head ass, Tim Boyd on Facebook, telling folks to basically shut your poor asses up. As I said yesterday,
Starting point is 01:07:29 Tim Boyd might as well have quoted juvenile, huh? You know what it is. You make nothing out of something. You handle your biz and don't be crying and suffering. Okay. He might as well have said that yesterday as if it's not his job to wipe those tears away after people are crying, as if it's not his job to lend a helping hand when folks are suffering, as if it's not an elected official's job to be there for the people he governs. Well, maybe it's not. Maybe this social contract between government and citizens
Starting point is 01:07:55 doesn't really exist like I thought it did because enter Ted Cruz. He did what he had to do to survive. Tim Boyd said, sink or swim, but Ted said, F that, sink, swim or fly. Ted Cruz was repeatedly, repeatedly slammed other politicians for vacationing during a crisis, decided to travel first class to change the forecast. Oh, he packed up his family and went to Cancun while millions and millions of folks in Texas were freezing their ass off.
Starting point is 01:08:21 Let's go to CBS News for the report, please. Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is back in the U.S. after facing criticism for flying to Mexico while his state battles a brutal winter storm. These photos went viral, showing Senator Cruz and his family at an airport Wednesday. Now, sources tell CBS News he was originally scheduled to return Saturday, but changed his reservation this morning. That's in contrast to a statement the senator released Thursday, where he said he was, quote, wanting to be a good dad and flew down with his daughters, who he says asked for the trips and school was canceled.
Starting point is 01:08:57 He also said he was in constant communication with state and local leaders. Now, Ted Cruz released a statement via facebook like tim boyd did he put in all caps um let me read this verbatim with ted cruz that he said up in the clouds me and my spouse rumors on the ground getting too loud please turn them down can't hear myself think hashtag bitch don't kill my vibe wait hold on i don't think that's right wait oh no that wasn't ted's real statement this is ted's real statement listen it certainly was not my intention for that to be understood as as critics have tried to paint it as as somehow diminishing the suffering and
Starting point is 01:09:36 hardship other texans had experienced it was obviously a mistake and in hindsight i wouldn't have done it i was trying to be a dad when you've got two girls who've been cold for two days and haven't had heater power and they're saying, hey, look, we don't have school. Why don't we go? Let's get out of here. I think there are a lot of parents that'd be like, if I can do this, great. As I said, really, from the moment I sat on the plane, I began really second guessing that decision and saying, look, I know why we're doing this, but but I've also got responsibilities. And it had been my intention to be able to to work remotely. But I needed to be here. And that's why I came back. Now, Ted Cruz could get donkey donkey today for just this move alone.
Starting point is 01:10:22 This move alone should cost him his seat in 2024. Actually, he should just resign now. Okay, just like Tim Boyd did, but he won't. But another reason he's getting the credit he deserves for being stupid is because, as I said earlier, Ted Cruz has repeatedly slammed politicians for vacationing and doing other recreational things during crisis. Oh, this past December, Ted Cruz tweeted Austin Mayor Steve Adler and said, hypocrites, complete and utter hypocrites. And don't forget Mayor Adler. And he added him, took a private jet with eight people to Cabo. And while in Cabo, recorded a video telling Austinites in Austin, Texas, to stay home if you can. This is not the time to relax. He literally tweeted that to Steve Adler in December when Steve Adler went to Cabo.
Starting point is 01:11:03 And Ted Cruz on Monday told folks in Texas to stay home if they can too. Listen, this storm is dangerous. So if you can stay home, don't go out on the roads. Don't risk the ice. I was speaking this weekend with a meteorologist expert who was saying the combination of these two storms, we could see up to 100 people lose their lives this week in Texas. So don't risk it. Keep your family safe and just stay home and hug your kids.
Starting point is 01:11:28 In the words of Ted Cruz, hypocrites, complete and utter hypocrites. Ted, that, if you can, must have applied to you and your family as well, because clearly your mixy ass couldn't. And let's not talk about all the times Ted Cruz attacked President Barack Obama for playing golf and pool and other things. OK, Ted Cruz attacked Barack for attending a fundraiser during a crisis at the border in Texas and said the president spent too much time on the golf course. Listen, the cynicism of President Obama seems to know no bounds. He is in Texas tonight. He's going to two major fundraisers where he wants to be with wealthy Democratic donors. But apparently he doesn't have time to actually go and see the border. He doesn't have time to go see the children who are suffering because of his failed policies.
Starting point is 01:12:10 Earlier, he was playing pool. Apparently playing a game of pool is a higher priority for this president. You know, if only the terrorist attacked a golf course, that might actually get the White House's attention. Holy cow, this is serious. Dear Ted Cruz, practice what you preach or change your speech. That might actually get the White House's attention. Holy cow, this is serious. Dear Ted Cruz, practice what you preach or change your speech. In fact, I have a better one.
Starting point is 01:12:33 Since you don't practice what you preach, give up your seat. I said, since you don't practice what you preach, give up your seat. Resign from the Senate immediately. You're not fit to lead. You don't care about the people you're supposed to be governing. Your lips and your life is preaching two different messages, okay? See, Ralph Waldo Emerson has this quote I love. And the quote is what you do speak so loud that I cannot hear what you say. Those statements you gave after coming back from Cancun, they fell all the way on deaf ears because the only thing that saddens you about
Starting point is 01:13:00 this situation is that you got caught. I guarantee you that you feel worse about what's happening to you right now than you do about what's happening to the citizens of Texas impacted by this snowstorm. Do you know yesterday the Miami Herald named Ted Cruz the worst Cuban American in Congress? I'm not making this up. Google it. The Miami Herald yesterday labeled him the worst Cuban American in Congress because of the fact that he left millions of his constituents who are suffering through this devastating winter storm, that he left them while there was massive power outages and people without basic needs like electricity and water. It's 10 Cuban Americans in Congress. I think it's about 10. It's about 10 Cuban
Starting point is 01:13:45 Americans in Congress, and they label Ted Cruz the worst one. Ted Cruz, you let Pitbull down! Please let Rami Ma give Ted Cruz the biggest hee-haw. Hee-haw! Hee-haw! You stupid mother******, you dumb.
Starting point is 01:14:01 Meanwhile, you see what true leaders are doing, like my man Trader Truth and Mr. Rogers and Relief Gang. They on the ground providing aid. You see what true leaders are doing. Like Beyonce, you see what she's doing, using her corporate ties to make sure Texas get relief. Let's talk about AOC. AOC raised $1 million for Texas relief in four hours. AOC.
Starting point is 01:14:27 Drop one of Clues' bombs for all the real leaders, okay, in our culture and in our community. Absolutely. Ted Cruz, as I said, since you don't practice what you preach, give up your seat. Resign from the Senate immediately. You're not free to leave. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:14:42 All right. Well, thank you for that donk here today. And shout the trade of truth for mr rogers again i mean every time something happens in texas and houston they are there they are first in the scene rescuing people supplying food i remember um two years ago we uh we got a big tractor trailer 18 wheeler and we packed it up with clothes food water all types of donations and we sent it down there. They were kind of mad at us, Charlemagne. I don't know if you remember, because you came actually. Because we didn't put the clothes
Starting point is 01:15:10 and water and supplies and stuff neatly. We kind of just threw it in the truck. Remember? When you gave me all those Timbs? I'm not, listen, I'm not good at stuff like that. That's what I told him. My wife, I'm not an organizer. My wife is a good organizer. I am not the one. So they said when the truck got there, they opened it and everything just kind of just fell out. I wife, I'm not an organizer. My wife is a good organizer. I am not the one.
Starting point is 01:15:28 So they said when the truck got there, they opened it and everything just kind of just fell out. I said, well, it made it easy. Hey, man. Hey, man. Hey, man. Sorry, man. It's the thought that counts, man. My heart was pure.
Starting point is 01:15:36 I'm actually about to donate. I'm donating some money to Relief Gang today, matter of fact. So salute to Trey Bann and my man, Mr. Rogers. Yeah, shout out to them. I appreciate it. Now, when we come back today is the one year anniversary of pop smokes passing all right pop smoke of course passed away a year ago today and this morning we're going to talk to his mom audrey jackson and brooklyn borough president eric adams will be joining in as well so don't move it's the breakfast club good

Thank you so much. Audrey, how are you? Good seeing you. I'm well. Good to see you as well. Now, I want to thank you for joining the show
Starting point is 01:16:41 this morning. I know you want to honor your son and this is with an anti-gun violence message. And February 19th? Yes. Is that correct? Is the date that your son was unfortunately killed. So can we discuss this initiative that you guys are doing? Well, I was really just really deeply moved. We did a video together and I spoke with Audrey and her husband, Pop Smoke's dad.
Starting point is 01:17:11 And I walked away from there just really saying that this story must be told. Sometimes when we look at those who are in the record industry, we do not know the depth of the families who are involved. Audrey is an educator, an amazing educator. Her husband is in the financial industry. And Brother Pop Smoke had an amazing foundation that we saw in his creativity. He didn't just come out and all of a sudden decided he wanted to rap. He was deeply rooted in strong faith, a strong understanding of the English language, knowing how to put together the lyrics, and he brought his own flavor to it. You know, this is a story that people really need to hear, that this brother was taken from us at an early age because of gun violence. And we are losing too many pop smokes all over our country
Starting point is 01:18:08 that could have a significant impact on the direction of who and what we are. Miss Jax, I was going to ask, you know, with your son's success, let's talk about that moment because his record gets played everywhere, every day. I mean, you see his videos. You got a movie coming out. He has a movie coming out. His record gets played everywhere, every day. I mean, you see his videos. You hear his name. He's got a movie coming out. He has a movie coming out. How does that feel?
Starting point is 01:18:29 Because I know you want to be happy, so it's almost like a bittersweet. It is. It's very painful. And, you know, I get the language where people think this is entertainment for me, but it's not. He should be here with you this morning. You know, this is what we're looking forward to. It's these moments that, as you said, they've been sweet. Here's a breakfast club. You guys, he listened to you all every day.
Starting point is 01:18:53 He sat in the kitchen at the table, played you all. This should have been his moment. Everything I'm doing to promote and expand his legacy. It looks from the outside looking in. She's on stage, but every moment of that is painful because there's a way that in planning it, there's a secret place inside of me that says at the end of the day, when this event happens,
Starting point is 01:19:18 he's going to be there. And then at the end of it, I'm trying to check in with myself. Why are you feeling so bad? The thing went well. And then I realized I was expecting him to show up. And I'm still in that place. And I know he had started the foundation, like Eric Adams said, the Shoot for the Stars foundation, even prior to that, because he was so interested in giving back to his community. So is that foundation you guys are still operating what's happening with that we're we're we're
Starting point is 01:19:45 going full force ahead um the commemoration on the 20th is kind of our coming out um where we're getting just the community to come together to talk about um social justice and social justice movement and how his music impacted that and so then we're going to just go forward from there it's providing other things for the community, you know, basketball events and things such as that. We're looking at technology, not just technology. I'm giving you a set of computers for your classroom, but giving our young people access to technology, how to use it in various kinds of media. You know, Ms. Jackson, I know healing is hard,
Starting point is 01:20:25 and this is something that I'll probably never truly heal. So when you constantly hear his music being played everywhere, does that help or hurt with your healing? It hurts, and I'm going to tell you guys, I don't. Unless I have to, I can't listen. I mean, even in my car, I turn on news. I can't, any kind of music, because that was our connection. It sounds kind of iconic, but we danced together. We sing together. We were just kind of, our relationship
Starting point is 01:20:57 was around music in our household, right? So music is hard for me to hear, but I try to listen to, you know, when something really is being played and it's popular and people are saying to me you know mom this is really jumping off I try to listen to it there's some things you know because I recognize who he is to his peers and I'm a teacher you know I try to to use things so I don't play it but maybe I'll use the words to teach because then the words are there and I'm not hearing him. So it is difficult. It really is painful.
Starting point is 01:21:30 And it's not getting easier. It really is kind of getting harder, but harder in a different way. So there is shift, and I'm grateful for the shifts. But this is not easy. It really isn't. And I didn't expect it because I've lost other people in my life, people who are very close to me, and it's just not the same. And I don't have any words for it.
Starting point is 01:21:52 Oh, yeah, that's a sign. I mean, you carried him. You carried him for nine months. You delivered that young man. You know, that's a total different level of attachment. All right, we have more with Audrey Jackson and Eric and eric adams when we come back it's the breakfast club let's get into a pop smoke mini mix it's the breakfast club good morning morning everybody it's dj envy angela yee charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club
Starting point is 01:22:15 that was a pop smoke mini mix now today marks the one year anniversary of his passing so today we have audrey jackson his mom and, and Eric Adams on the phone. Have we heard any updates with anything that's going on with LA? Are they being open? Are they giving you updates? Do we know what's going on with the gentlemen? The charges? The charges and all that? They're working on it. They're looking at, because two of them are minors, one in particular, I think is the 14-year-old. They're looking at how the charges get played out. Like the 14-year-old is a minor, so that works a particular way.
Starting point is 01:22:55 They're trying to see if the 17-year-old can be charged as an adult. And of course, the 40-year-old gentleman definitely is being charged as an adult. There's some issues with some restrictions now on how they can present the case. They're working on those types of things, but they're very good with kind of calling me and letting me know what's going on. They keep me in loop. And if ever I just need to ask a question or to talk to somebody, they take my calls. As black people, we're so quick to forgive all the time when it comes to everything in life, no matter what it is, how do you feel about those? Because you said a 14 year old and a 17 year old, what are your feelings towards them? Have you got there yet? Or no, not at all. For me, it's, it's, it's neither place. I mean, they've done something and there should be some
Starting point is 01:23:39 sort of repercussion for what they've done, you know, but my brain goes to the households that have been disturbed, right? Mine has been damaged. But their moms and dads, too, have had some stuff. So it's not about forgiveness, per se, but just kind of understanding. But I really try not to operate out of a place of negativity or anger, because it doesn't serve any purpose.
Starting point is 01:24:04 How's your family holding up, Mrs. Jackson? It's hard. His brother, you know, his brother's whole thing is like, he feels like a part of him is missing. He'll stay in his room because he knows his brother's not outside in any of the other rooms in the house. Dad is waiting for his phone calls. You know, there are things that he did
Starting point is 01:24:26 with each one of us that the other one wasn't necessarily aware of. So everybody is missing their moments. We're a normal family, and, you know, things happen, sibling rivalry. You know, he was a teenager. He was supposed to be trying
Starting point is 01:24:38 to separate himself from us because he was trying to become, right, as all children do. But he had his individual relationships with each one of us that we all miss miss jackson were you were you always supportive of his music or were you skeptical at first no he was excited you know he would come and he would um i just had a vision of him i'm going up the stairs and he's like nah nah listen to this listen to this he starts singing especially the one that's out now,
Starting point is 01:25:06 which you know about, Love? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He was, you know, because he was trying to change his flavor. So I would just stand and listen. I was excited for him, and I was excited with him. You know, when I listen to the words, I'm like, ooh, ooh, okay, okay, okay. It's okay. It's all right.
Starting point is 01:25:26 But no, I was excited for him because he was excited. How do you think Pop Smoke would have responded to this level of fame and success? You know what? He was humbled by it. He really was. He was humbled by it. I remember him talking to us about the kind of love that he felt from the audience or his fans when he was performing.
Starting point is 01:25:45 And I'm feeling that. Like I inherited that, that's his legacy to me. His fans are really special group of people. They're the way that they're grieving his loss as if they have lost a family member. And 50 Cent put really executive produced that last album. Is there more music that you guys have in the stash
Starting point is 01:26:08 too? Girl, I'm not sure that's there yet. If there is, I'm hoping that we can put something out, but I'm really not sure. I just want to tell you, Ms. Jackson, I know it's coming up on a year since Pop Smoke was taken from us, so I just want to tell you miss jackson i know you it's coming up on a year since pop smoke you know was taken from us so i just want to send you healing energy and i just want to send you love
Starting point is 01:26:30 and light and you know constant condolences to you and your family absolutely and how can we support the foundation for for people listening where can they go to support www.shaketheroom.org, right? That's the point right now for the event that's coming up on Saturday. But beyond that, it's just shootforthestars.org as well. And so we'll have information out there as to events and things that we're providing for the community. You know, I'm working on something to kind of gather mothers together. Because part of what happens is that, you know, that sister, that 14-year-old who's just kind of gotten off track, there was some support that she needed. As mothers, we need support. And it's not always there, right?
Starting point is 01:27:18 So it's about figuring out how to create that moment and create that space, as well as for creating sacred space for the young people to come and have a conversation and that's what we're hoping that saturday will be the beginning of well thank you so much for checking in again and just one last thing have you been in communication with the mother of the 14 year old no i have not i have not i'm not sure i'm ready for that conversation uh but there's no animosity because as a mom, I get it. You don't send your worst out there. You send your best. You send your best.
Starting point is 01:27:50 Every time your child leaves your house, you are sending your best. And sometimes things happen. Things happen that are out of all our control. You're welcome. Have a great day. Thank you so much, Jackson. We appreciate you and send you love. Absolutely. Okay, thank you. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 01:28:06 The Breakfast Club. It's about time. What's going on? Rumor Report. Rumor Report. This is the Rumor Report. Talk to them. With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:28:22 So Jamie Foxx has a new Netflix sitcom. It's called Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me. And it's going to feature multiple characters in the same vein as In Living Color. And they said, we didn't want him to play himself. And what's more embarrassing than your dad doing makeup all the time? So it says, Brian really wants to understand Sasha so badly and be there for her. And maybe he goes to extreme lengths to do so. So Jamie Foxx is playing Brian, the owner of a cosmetic company and father to Sasha that's played by actress
Starting point is 01:28:48 Kyla Jue Simmons. His daughter, in real life, Corinne Foxx, will actually executive produce the project. She didn't want to be in it. She wanted to be behind the scenes. That sounds interesting. I'll definitely give that a go. I mean, you got to support Jamie Foxx in anything that he does, simply because Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented people
Starting point is 01:29:04 that we've ever seen at least in my lifetime so you know I'm a definitely need that watch it is based on a relationship with his oldest daughter Corinne Foxx and we all know as daughters that our dads do embarrass us all the time my dad is one of the most embarrassing people I know so
Starting point is 01:29:19 I live for it I've been threatening my daughter ever since Zoom started. Whenever she be on Zoom, I'll be like, I'm going to run in there and I'm just going to start dancing. I'm going to act like Nuck if your buck is playing and she know what that mean. Well, yeah. And Embi, I know you're embarrassing to your daughter.
Starting point is 01:29:36 So I understand that feeling because my dad is extremely embarrassing also. I used to be like, Dad, drop me off like two blocks away from school. I don't want nobody to see you. I don't want nobody to see the car. My son does that. And he wouldn't. He would still pull up in front. All right.
Starting point is 01:29:48 My son also calls me a Charlemagne Suss, though, too. How about, though? Your son does that, and you driving Phantoms and Wraiths and all kind of other stuff, and he want to be dropped off two blocks away? Yeah, because that's because he says that me and you are sus. And he says that the kids always talk about how suspect me and you are. It's the Beijing, bro. No, it's you with the ass.
Starting point is 01:30:05 No, no, no, no. It's the beard. It's me with the ass. Thank you for noticing. See, he's stupid. I've been doing squats. Thank you for noticing. Shut up, man.
Starting point is 01:30:12 Shut up. I want to be referred to as you with the ass from now on. From you. From you. Shut up. Thank you. All right. The Weeknd has received a custom diamond Super Bowl ring to commemorate his halftime performance. It looks pretty amazing. There's a big XO across the top, 16 carats of VVS diamonds and the words world champion and an image of the trophy, the Vince Lombardi trophy. It also has the Weeknd's name on it, the score from the game, the date. That's a big ring. The Pepsi logo, all of those things on it.
Starting point is 01:30:44 So his birthday was actually on tuesday his 31st birthday so that was to commemorate that as well god damn the weekend's only 31 happy born king wow and diddy is bringing the crew league to revolt now if you don't know what that is hip hop artists will compete against each other in a friendly basketball tournament here's the trailer they better come to play and they better play hard, man, because we're playing hard. We're here to take the dub. That's all we're trying to do.
Starting point is 01:31:09 I should have went to the NBA. I just chose the referee instead. I'm $100,000 richer. I'll do this better. I know my a** don't want me to win. I heard about it. Ruff for the game. Welcome into the Crew League Season 1.
Starting point is 01:31:24 This is the league where rappers and their crew battle it out for $100,000 cash. That sounds dope. Interesting. Something different. Revo has all kinds of new programming. Hmm. All right. And Kim Kardashian gave Tristan Thompson some advice on how to get back together with Khloe Kardashian because a lot of embarrassing things happened publicly with their relationship. Here's what she told him. Some days are good and some days, you know, she gets a little frustrated about, you know, what's going on with the media. I don't even think it's to her anymore about like getting
Starting point is 01:31:56 over the past like things that you guys have been through. I think it's just mostly what other people are going to think. Yeah, I don't even, I think she's totally fine. Otherwise she wouldn't be hanging out with you 24 seven. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, honestly, I just think that you should talk to her. Tell her like, you don't want to rush her process. But if you were to just like explain to her that you don't want to be this like kept secret because she is so embarrassed, like that makes you sad.
Starting point is 01:32:23 All right. Well, yeah, we'll'll see hopefully he doesn't embarrass her anymore and that is your rumor report all right thank you miss ye now um revolt we'll see you guys on monday everybody else the people's choice mixes up next you know we throw back on friday so let's go it's the breakfast club good morning morning everybody it's dj envy angela ye charlamagne the guy we are the breakfast club now it's black Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Now it's Black History Month. What are we doing today?
Starting point is 01:32:51 Listen, today we are going to honor the great Tamika Mallory. Tamika is an American activist, a woman who is always on the front lines fighting for us. She is always speaking out for us. In fact, yesterday I saw her tweet, Biden won't cancel student debt up to $50,000, knowing it could dramatically lift many black, brown and working class people. The administration got more money for policing. Perhaps the cancel student debt and defund police folks should get together and push back against this nonsense. Drop on the clues box with Tamika Mallory, man. Just another example. It's another example of Tamika always being on the front lines, pushing for us. This is her all the time on and off air, on and off social media, in front of the cameras, not in front of the camera. She's always pushing for us. And last year she gave a speech when she was down in Minnesota on the front lines fighting for justice for George Floyd.
Starting point is 01:33:41 And it was a speech that Good Morning America and many others called the speech of a generation. Let's listen. The Breakfast Club presents a new Black History Month legend. We are in a state of emergency and we are not responsible for the mental illness that has been inflicted upon our people by the American government, institutions, and those people who are in positions of power. Arrest the cops. Charge the cops. Do what you say this country is supposed to be about, the land of the free for all. It has not been free for black people, and we are tired. Don't talk to us about looting.
Starting point is 01:34:22 Y'all are the looters. America has looted black people. America looted the Native Americans when they first came here. So looting is what you do. We learned it from you. We learned violence from you. So if you want us to do better, then damn it, you do better. Courtesy of The Breakfast Club. Man. Tamika's a true leader. And if you feel inspired by her, if you feel empowered by her, if you learn from her, then you definitely
Starting point is 01:34:51 want to pre-order her upcoming book, State of Emergency, How to Win in the Country We Built. It's out May 11th, but you can pre-order now wherever you buy books. State of Emergency, How to Win in the Country We Built is Tamka Mallory's upcoming book. It's out May 11th,
Starting point is 01:35:08 but you can pre-order wherever you buy books now. Tameka Mallory, thank you truly for your service. Absolutely. All right. When we come back, we got the positive notice
Starting point is 01:35:16 to Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning. And it is Friday. That's right. I just want to encourage you guys to watch ABC
Starting point is 01:35:30 News live tonight. I actually joined Deborah Roberts. We did a conversation with black women and I'm featured on it along with Leah Rigor. She's a professor. She's a Ph.D. and Yvette Simpson, who is the CEO of Democracy for America. So that is on tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. So please watch. It's a really great conversation that we had. I loved it. We already were like, we got to do a parts one, two, three, four, and five of this. So please pay attention to that.
Starting point is 01:35:56 And on Sunday is the virtual event, the gala for the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies. You know, I'm on the board for that. We're always raising money for people who are going to the University of the West Indies. You know, I'm on the board for that. We're always raising money for people who are going to the University of the West Indies from the West Indies. And we give them full scholarships and whatever financial help they might need, especially right now during this pandemic, to be able to get whatever electronics they need, just because we know how important education is.
Starting point is 01:36:19 So make sure y'all pay attention to that. And they are honoring Amanda Seals and Dean Nice this year, as well as Sadela Marley. She's Skip Marley's mother and also the daughter of Rita and Bob Marley. So pay attention to that. It's going to be a great time. Salute to my sister, Amanda Seals.
Starting point is 01:36:35 Grenada massive. Nutmeg massive. Couple of flip-bombs for Amanda Seals. And also on iHeartRadio, Living Black is an event taking place tomorrow at 6 p.m. Performances from Roddy Ricch, 21 Savage, Jhene Aiko, Kirk Franklin and more. The Breakfast Club will be on it as well. I'll be talking Black What Love.
Starting point is 01:36:54 Me and my wife will be talking just about our relationship. We've been married 20 years this May. So we'll be talking about some of the ups and downs. 20 years. Everything that we went through. We had 20 years married. That's a big deal. It doesn't even seem like that long, which is the best thing about it.
Starting point is 01:37:08 It still seems like it was two, three years, which is great. I bet for her it does. I'm sure it does. That's why you need to stop putting that Beijing in your bed, bro. When you've been married for 20 years and you got five kids, there's no need to keep putting Beijing in your bed. We know you. He is probably like, this feel like 50 years.
Starting point is 01:37:24 Diddy, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross. Look at this snitch. What? Look at this Beijing snitch. What? You like Nino Beijing standing up in the courthouse. What?
Starting point is 01:37:36 If I'm going down, you taking everybody with you, huh? What? What? What? All right. Well, you got a positive note? By the way, Khaled needs it, bro.
Starting point is 01:37:44 Khaled look 100 years old when he don't have Beijing yeah why'd you just start naming everybody and it's just to make me think of Chris Rock when he's like man people say life is short no it's not life is long the guy is probably like man this marriage is long all right well you got a positive note yes the positive note is coming from Carol Mosley Braun. You know, Carol Mosley Braun is a politician and lawyer. And I love this quote from her. She says, defining myself as opposed to being defined by others is one of the most difficult challenges I face. Breakfast club, bitches.
