Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Hey y'all, Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and John Glickman, Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was Claudette Colvin. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Wake up in the morning, you gonna wake up in the morning. I'm talking right now. You're about to experience a morning show unlike any of us. Shout out to the Breakfast Club. I hope to see y'all every morning.
Starting point is 00:02:29 What you guys are doing right now is the hub culture. The Breakfast Club is my morning sit. I need it and I love it so much. I feel like you're really not popping until you do the Breakfast Club. I've been waiting to come to y'all's show, man. I know you got to be a big time celebrity to be up in here. You got to be big time. DJ Envy, Angela. I know you gotta be a big-time celebrity to be up in here. You gotta be big-time. DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne
Starting point is 00:02:48 the God. The Breakfast Club, bitches. Break the f*** out. Good morning, USA. The hell was that? Your mic sound crazy already. Charlamagne Tha God. What's my name? Oh, yeah. Peace to the planet. It's Friday. Toronto, what up?
Starting point is 00:03:35 So, Charlamagne, I don't know if this has ever happened to you, right? So, I woke up this morning. And when I woke up, I turned over to, you know, kiss my wife, hug my wife. And she wasn't there, and I got nervous, I was like, what the hell happened, what's going on, but you know, we're moving to a new house, so every day, the last couple of nights, my wife has been at the new house, putting things together before we move in, so when we move in, everything is right, so this time, she wasn't tired, so she's been at that house with my assistant, and she's still there now, cleaning the house, getting it in order, moving the clothes
Starting point is 00:04:07 and everything that we had to move. So she's been working the last five days. So they all been at the house all day and I've been with the kids. So it's been daddy daycare all day long. I'm talking, we doing all types of F boy-ish that we're not supposed to be doing, eating ice cream in the house. What do you mean all day at six in the morning? Well, my wife will be back in about another 30 minutes. I'm sure she's on her way back now. She takes a little nap and then she goes back to the house and does it again. But my kids love it because, you know, daddy just grills all day. I don't cook nothing real.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I just grill. We just eat ice cream. I order pizza. We jump in the pool. We ride the quads. We do all types of stuff. And there is no arguing. So the kids can't argue
Starting point is 00:04:45 because when they argue, everybody gets in trouble. So they don't argue. They're peaceful. It's the best ever. I miss my wife this morning. I got nervous. So you started this off
Starting point is 00:04:55 by saying, Charlamagne, I don't know if this ever happened to you. What part? You ever rolled over in bed and your wife wasn't there? Maybe she had to leave
Starting point is 00:05:01 and you got nervous or scared? Oh, no. I mean, I know she get up early in the morning and she's not going to leave the you got nervous or scared? Oh, no. I mean, I know she'd get up early in the morning and she's not going to leave the house without telling me she's going somewhere. And number two, if she's not in the bed, that means she's downstairs probably doing something.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Yeah, well, I got a little nervous. God damn. What the hell's going on in your life? I watch too many movies and I see kidnapping all the time. I thought she got kidnapped. I don't know. I don't know what's going on. You got to turn from Lifetime, bro. Stop watching so much Lifetime. Jesus Christ. I don't know. Well,
Starting point is 00:05:29 today is Angela Yee Day. Angela Yee has her big day today where she's going to she has her own day in New York City and she has a bunch of performances. She's doing a bunch of giveaways at the Juice Bar today. We're going to be doing backpack giveaways to kids that need them if kids are going to school. So, uh, I'm excited about that. She
Starting point is 00:05:48 has Beanie Man performing, Josh X, Hood Celebrity, uh, Romaine Virgo, and a host of others. So that'll be happening today. Uh, you can hit up the power one Oh five one, uh, Instagram live to check out all the performances. She put a lot into it, so it should be really dope. You probably don't hear her right now because she's resetting her mic. She'll be joining us in a second. We got front page news. She'll tell you about everything that's going on with your president
Starting point is 00:06:14 Donald Trump. He is the craziest. He just says what he wants. He does what he wants, but she'll give you all those updates. It's admirable. It's admirable. Not honorable, but admirable. I don't say people that lie and manipulate are honorable, but it's admirable it's admirable not honorable but admirable i don't i don't i don't say i don't say people that uh lie and manipulate are honorable but it's admirable that you can spew so much nonsense and people eat it up it actually is well hopefully you will get her mic together and we'll get that in front page news now let's start off the show with this new
Starting point is 00:06:40 joint this is public enemy shout the public enemy to Def Jam. After all this time, Public Enemy has re-signed with Def Jam, which is pretty damn dope. So shout to Def Jam. They are releasing Fight the Power 2020. Oh yeah, they did this at the BET Awards. And it features Nas and YG. And Rhapsody too.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Rhapsody was on it. Is Rhapsody on it? I don't know if Rhapsody's on it now. She was on the BET version. She had the best verse, if you ask me. I don't know if she's on Rhapsody. I'm a Rhapsody on it? I don't know if Rhapsody's on it now She was on the BET version She had the best verse If you ask me I don't know if she's on it I'm a Rhapsody stan so Well they sent it to me last night So let's get it on right now
Starting point is 00:07:12 Hopefully it's clean It's the Breakfast Club Good morning Rhapsody is on it Rhapsody, Nas, YG And the Public Enemy Of course Congratulations to Public Enemy
Starting point is 00:07:19 And Def Jam I love Rhapsody Best rapper of all time She killed it Alright well let's get in. Kendrick Lamar. Let's get in some front page news. You back? I'm back. There you go. Alright, good. Let's see how long this lasts.
Starting point is 00:07:34 Alright, so NBA players have decided they are going to resume the 2020 playoffs and the games could take place as soon as August 28th. Is that today? Yep. Yeah, that's today. So they did say they want to continue the season. They said that they feel like they still have the opportunity to have a voice with everything going on.
Starting point is 00:07:52 And so there's a video conference call meeting that they had yesterday between a group of NBA players and team governors. They said Michael Jordan's been really involved, too, as far as making sure these talks happen. Now, Donald Trump was asked what he thought about the NBA boycott. And here's what he said. I don't know much about the NBA protest. I know their ratings have been very bad because I think people are a little tired of the NBA, frankly. But I don't know too much about the protest.
Starting point is 00:08:17 But I know their ratings have been very bad. And that's too that's unfortunate. They've become like a political organization. And that's not a good thing. I don't think that's a good thing for sports or for the country. That's what happens when you have a league that's 80 percent black men. And those black men care about the country that they live in. They care about the conditions of the people, you know, their people.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Right. So I don't have a problem with them boycotting. I mean, it's a hell of a statement. But like I said yesterday, just make sure it's a plan. Make sure it's a call to action. Make sure they have some demands. What are they going to do next? So if they can't figure that out, go play. Keep making those political statements on the court. Yeah, so imagine that you're, you know, as a black person, a black man that plays in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:09:00 You see another black man, 29 years old, shot in the back by the police seven times, unarmed. He's an unarmed black man, and he's in the hospital bed, paralyzed from the waist down, and handcuffed onto the bed. According to Jacob Blake's father, he is handcuffed to the bed. Officials have not announced any charges
Starting point is 00:09:21 against Jacob Blake at this time, but, I mean... If there's no charges, how do they handcuff him, though? If there's no charges, they didn't charge the man with anything. How do you handcuff a paralyzed man in a bed? Yeah, and they had... What was the whole lie they had going that he had a warrant for sexual assault or something like that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:42 That proved to be a lie yesterday? Mm-hmm. I think that's what it was. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Yeah, Steve, they said he does not have an arrest warrant for having sex with a minor. That's what social media was spreading, that he had an arrest warrant for having sex with a minor. And that was proved false, completely false. He doesn't have a warrant.
Starting point is 00:10:01 All right. Now, Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17 year old who is accused of the shooting incident that happened during a night of protests in Kenosha that left two people dead and that their person seriously injured. They said he is facing multiple homicide charges. According to court records, he has been charged with first degree intentional homicide since his arrest. And they did file more charges against him yesterday, adding one count of reckless homicide, a count for attempted intentional homicide, and two counts of recklessly endangering safety. He's also being charged with possession of a dangerous weapon
Starting point is 00:10:32 while under the age of 18. No, the media show isn't vilifying him the way they're vilifying Jacob Blake. I'll tell you that much. You would think Kyle got arrested for shoplifting. The way they're treating his situation. Right, so they keep on talking about
Starting point is 00:10:52 how he's an aspiring cop and all this stuff. Like, no, he's a murderer. And he's a thug. And he's a terrorist. Definitely a murderer, a thug, and a terrorist. Absolutely. And if he's an aspiring cop, then cops, y'all have to realize the negative influence y'all are having on the youth because that man felt like he should just
Starting point is 00:11:07 go shoot two protesters. Just because. He's also a Donald Trump supporter as well. Just FYI, he's been to the rallies and a lot of that. So Donald Trump is saying that he does want more police and he also wants to increase
Starting point is 00:11:23 penalties for assaults on law enforcement, by the way. But we'll talk more about that in the next hour. All right. It was actually very interesting to watch Donald Trump last night. He didn't mention anything about any of the black lives lost to cops. And if you listen to Trump last night, you would think people were in the streets protesting for no reason.
Starting point is 00:11:40 And he said, we got to give police back their power. They aren't allowed to do their jobs. I don't know about y'all, but it seems like police got a whole lot of power to me. What do y'all think? That's what this is all about. We still having these same conversations we've been having.
Starting point is 00:11:55 All right, well, that is front page news. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up right now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. It's your time to get it off your chest, whether you're mad or blessed.
Starting point is 00:12:14 You better have the same energy. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Hey, good morning. It's Chris. Good morning, Breakfast Club. How are you? Good morning, Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:12:23 What's up, Chris? Hey, man, I'm just a little disturbed about this narrative that Donald Trump is putting out about not existing. Black Lives Matter. And not only that, he has a bunch of enablers called Republicans that support him in this process. So you mean to tell me we have a white supremacist that has made it to the highest land in the office, and then on top of that, we have a group of enablers that allow this to come forth. And not only that, we have a section of the company that's rallying at home. Is that what we have with it? King, you're almost four years too late, King.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Where you been? Where you been? I'm just blown back by that. So you mean to tell me we got a group of enablers that allow this to happen. So we need to ride all of that out. We need to ride the enablers out. We need to ride him out. We need to ride everything connected to this man out.
Starting point is 00:13:16 I agree. I mean, that's the beauty of 2020, man. I think that, you know, you can never heal what you don't reveal. And 2020 is the year of reveal for a lot of things. And all the BS in this country that they've been trying to tell us doesn't reveal. And 2020 is the year of reveal for a lot of things. And all the BS in this country that they've been trying to tell us
Starting point is 00:13:28 doesn't exist is front and center now. But are we going to come out and cast this vote? That's what I'm concerned about. Are we going to lay down and be like, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:36 I'm with it. I mean, are we going to come out and actually cast this vote? Because this really is the most important vote of the black community in decades.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Absolutely. I know I'll be voting front and center. We actually are even going to be volunteering at the polls. Yeah, definitely voting. We're definitely going to volunteer. I'm going to try to volunteer. I don't know if I can volunteer outside of where I live, because I want to volunteer in areas where I know people are going to have a hard time. So whatever that is, I definitely want to volunteer. But how are you going to volunteer
Starting point is 00:14:06 if they're closing down all these polling places? You know what I mean? It's almost like you need to, it's too late to have all these millionaires and billionaires open up big places for polling places because I believe you got to get them certified to be a polling place. So you're going to limit these polling places.
Starting point is 00:14:20 I mean, you're just making it so difficult for anybody to cast a ballot. Oh yeah, it's going to be rampant voters. I posted on my Twitter for people in New York how you can do your absentee ballot. There's a quick, easy link, so you should start doing that now if you're concerned about that also. And I know that's a concern, too, for people. You know, you just still got to do your part and do the best that you can. Yeah, well, I cast mine already, and I suggest that everybody go ahead and start getting their absentee ballots together right now.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Do it now. I agree with you. Don't wait. Absolutely. Don't wait. Yeah, I'm definitely voting. We just have to know that, you know, voting is not going to change things
Starting point is 00:14:54 unless we continue to keep our foot on these politicians next, local and federal, because I don't care who's in the White House. America is built on a racism, on a system of racism that just needs to be dismantled. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. I'm dialing. I'm dialing. Hey, what you doing, man? I'm dialing. I'm calling you.
Starting point is 00:15:21 This is your time to get it off your chest. Whether you're mad or blessed. 800-585-1051. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Hi, my name is Andy from Long Beach, California. Hey, Andy, get it off your chest, brother. I appreciate you guys for everything you do. I can't believe I'm on. Dramos, please don't hang up on me.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Please, Dramos. That's crazy that people got to say that, Dramos. That's a shame. That's your reputation. That's a shame. That's your reputation, Dramos. You guys created that, but I didn't. No, you do it. That's why. Hey, you do do it, Dramos. So, basically, I'm an Asian-American Cambodian,
Starting point is 00:16:00 to be specific, from Long Beach. So, I've seen all my Cambodian friends and family just talk about how they're sick of seeing politics in sports with NBA players boycotting. And in my mind, I'm just thinking, hey, why are you telling black people how to protest and how they should do it it's right why not join in us as asians we should see that white supremacists they don't care about us as well you know like i don't know it's just so hard just you see the racial injustice is right there in front of us. Jacob Blake gets shot seven times in the back. That's right. But you see Kyle, this white boy, just walk around with an AR and not get nothing put in him. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Thank you. Gave him some water. You know, there's a great statement, right? And that statement is, you know, it's a black thing. You wouldn't understand. But these protests should be an American thing, not a black thing. People should understand this because the injustice anyway is a threat to justice everywhere. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:17:15 And my thing is, I've played basketball since sixth grade, organized basketball. And black people, to me, all my black black homies they were friendly with me and if anything they were really to then all my ages friends and before we hang up can I make a start out or go for John things up hurry up yeah hurry up I have a YouTube page my channel is called numumb Digger. Numb what? Numb Digger. What? I don't like that, bro.
Starting point is 00:17:52 It's not like you're saying dumb. Oh, no, you mean so basically I'm a hard worker that digs so hard and I just don't like using the hard ERs. It just sounds so harsh. Yeah, man. Let me tell you something. I think you might need to change that YouTube page. Anything with a hard ER that's not
Starting point is 00:18:10 bigger, it comes out kind of crazy. It does come out kind of crazy. Yeah, exactly. That's why, I mean, that's why I didn't use the ER. All right, Dramos, go for it. No, that's what you guys wanted. Keep on going, bro. Dramos, go for it, Dramos. Come on, Dramos, go for it. No, that's what you guys wanted. Keep on going, bro. Dramos, go for it, Dramos.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Come on, Dramos. Always a pleasure, King. Dramos. Thank you. Don't worry. You see what happens? Dramos. All right, bro.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Dramos, do your goddamn job and hang up on this man. Now you want me to hang up on people. Okay, anyway. Goodness gracious. Tell us what's wrong with you. Do your job. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051.
Starting point is 00:18:47 We got rumors on the way, Yee? Yes, and R. Kelly was allegedly attacked in jail. We'll tell you what his lawyer is saying. I don't believe this, but we'll talk about it when we come back. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Is your country falling apart?
Starting point is 00:19:04 Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it.
Starting point is 00:19:20 I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tried my country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory.
Starting point is 00:19:38 I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warheads. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan.
Starting point is 00:19:52 And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, guys. I'm Kate Max. or wherever you get your podcasts. is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High.
Starting point is 00:20:46 It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So y'all, this is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right.
Starting point is 00:21:15 A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand-new history podcast
Starting point is 00:21:34 for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history, like this one about Claudette Colvin,
Starting point is 00:21:56 a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was called a woman.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to historical records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk T-Pain versus Akon. Listen up. It's just in. All the gossip.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Gossip. The rumor report. Gossip. Gossip. With Angela Yee. It's the rumor report. The Breakfast Club. Well, it all started with Akon doing an interview on Vlad TV with Vlad
Starting point is 00:22:54 where he talks about how T-Pain could have been bigger. Listen to this. I think one of the major reasons is that T-Pain never left the hood. Like, he just confined his music to urban music. Like I saw T-Pain as another me to be able to cross outside of urban, going to pop, going to EDM, going to his Latin. Like I still think to this day, he still can do it. I would enter to the Latin side today though, because he can definitely do it. But I think that was the only reason. And the fact that you and I know better than anybody, urban audience aren't loyal.
Starting point is 00:23:25 First of all, I hate the word urban. Urban just means black, and I hate that word. Just say black. And I highly disagree that the black audience isn't loyal. The black audience is the most loyal. And I also don't think fickle fans have a color. People are fickle, period. You can be red hot one day, ice cold tomorrow,
Starting point is 00:23:39 and there's always a new artist on the scene that's popping up. But if you are consistently good at whatever it is you do, you'll always have an audience. But I don't think it's a color thing. What are you saying? Black people are not loyal like other races are?
Starting point is 00:23:52 Yeah, he said the urban audience. Oh, I hate that word. The urban audience is fickle. Y'all swear white ice is cold, the boy. Well, T-Pain responded, the very people
Starting point is 00:24:00 that helped me back is telling y'all how I could have been bigger. I'm not angry at all. I've grown. I've learned how to keep moving forward and not look back. Some people don't and that's okay. They'll get there at their pace
Starting point is 00:24:10 but I'm no longer going to allow my past to determine my future. I'm in control. See y'all on the brighter side. Love y'all. Also, why are people acting like T-Pain not T-Pain? T-Pain is a whole legend. T-Pain was a pretty big deal in these streets. T-Pain, not T-Pain? T-Pain is a whole legend. T-Pain was a pretty big deal in these streets.
Starting point is 00:24:28 T-Pain was a pretty big artist. I'm confused here. What am I missing? How big was T-Pain supposed to be? Right. I mean, there was a period of time when things didn't go well, but he's back now, so there you have it. He'll tell you himself there was a period of time that was tough for him.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Yeah, but not only was T-Pain a big deal, T-Pain influenced a whole generation of artists. I always used to say Future stole T-Pain's track. But T-Pain is T-Pain. But I would say what he said is some right. In hip-hop, a lot of times, we don't necessarily respect and ride for our legends. Like, you look at other genres of music,
Starting point is 00:25:02 and they can still do arenas and still have radio, records on radio. For us, once an artist gets a little older, we don't necessarily rock with them and respect them like that. Like, even Mary J. Blige. Like, Mary J. Blige has a hard time getting on our radio station
Starting point is 00:25:16 because they say she's Urban AC, but her records still pop. Same thing, you know what I mean? Yeah, but I think that's because for a long time, we didn't put, we put too much emphasis on youth. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:25:26 We always acted like being younger was better. People lied about their age. People tried to do things to stay young and stay hip instead of just aging gracefully. But I think that's all changed now. I think some of the best rappers are over 40. Some of the best musicians are over 40. So I think that's changing. All right.
Starting point is 00:25:42 Adrian Broner was sentenced to seven days in jail for violating probation, according to a report. He said that he's going through a lot in life and he needs counseling. So it was all in connection with a 2018 sexual assault case. He's accused of having inappropriate contact with a woman at a nightclub in Cleveland
Starting point is 00:25:59 and he received multiple charges. Five months later, he pleaded guilty to assault, received two years probation, but he violated the terms of his sentence. So he stood before a judge in Cleveland, and he was sentenced to spend seven days in the county jail. She said she hoped that his time behind bars would be a wake-up call for him.
Starting point is 00:26:17 It's not, okay? The man said what he needed. He needs some type of counseling. He needs some type of therapy, okay? Adrian Bruner needs to sit down and talk to somebody. That's obvious. That's been obvious for a long time. Why do we do this? Why do we see somebody clearly dealing with some type of mental
Starting point is 00:26:31 health issues, but we throw them in jail instead of going to get them the help that they need? I don't understand this. Why don't you reach out to him? You guys had a relationship before. Why don't you reach out to him? How do you feel me and Adrian had a relationship? Y'all spoke before. I thought y'all didn't speak before. What are you talking about? I thought y'all spoke before.
Starting point is 00:26:48 I mean, Adrian's been on the Breakfast Club. Y'all don't speak on the phone before? Yeah, I know y'all talk on the phone. Maybe I'm wrong. I think you are. I may have been on the phone before. Sounded good. Alright, R. Kelly was allegedly attacked by an inmate inside of a prison in Chicago.
Starting point is 00:27:04 They're saying the incident recently went down where he was sitting on his bed. Another inmate walked in and started punching him. They said the inmate went on attack because he was angry about being placed on lockdown a couple of times. The reason they get placed on lockdown is because, R. Kelly, there's protesters outside the jail that are actually fighting for R. Kelly. So anytime that happens, they lock down the whole jail. So according to R. Kelly's attorney, he said, yesterday we were told that an inmate had attacked R. Kelly. We received conflicting reports as to the extent of his injuries.
Starting point is 00:27:34 We have not been provided any information from the jail, nor has Mr. Kelly called. We are hopeful that he was not seriously injured. Regardless, it is time to release Mr. Kelly. The government cannot ensure his safety and they cannot give him his day in court. We should not incarcerate people indefinitely because we cannot provide them with due process.
Starting point is 00:27:52 So now he is in solitary confinement after that fight. I don't believe it. I don't know if you got beat up. I don't think you got beat up. I don't know if y'all know, but historically people who go to jail for the crimes R. Kelly is accused of committing, that's usually what happens. They get hands put on them.
Starting point is 00:28:10 And I think I know why you don't believe this story and the reason you don't believe this story. And hopefully, Fat Joe. Joe, don't say his name. Don't say his name because he said don't say it. He said don't say his name. We could tell the story, but don't say the guy's name, Charlemagne. What do you mean? You don't even know what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:28:24 I know what you're going to say. I know what you're going to say. I know what you're going to say. Hopefully, Joper talks about this on his show one day. Okay? Because word on the street is R. Kelly can fight. He can. They said he boxed and he's busy. R. Kelly allegedly used to be in Mexico fighting in underground boxing tournaments.
Starting point is 00:28:40 The guy said don't say his name, and you said his name. Who? You know what? That's why I can't tell you his name. you said his name Who? You know what? That's why I can't tell you Say it again You can't tell black people They tell it You told that secret
Starting point is 00:28:50 He said don't say nothing Go ahead, Yee So that's a color thing now? You can't tell black people secrets? Wow Did you hear that, Yee? That was crazy I'm not going to lie
Starting point is 00:28:59 Shut up All right, let's move on Marcus Houston got married on Monday Congratulations to him. His wife is Maya Dickey. She's 19 years old, by the way, and he had come under attack because people were trying to say
Starting point is 00:29:11 that they were dating when she was underage. He had to defend his relationship. He said, I met Maya in 2018 through a mutual friend. Never before then did I even know she existed. He also said they met at a Jehovah's Witness convention where she befriended the daughter of his manager. So yes, he said Maya and I didn't start dating until she was an adult.
Starting point is 00:29:33 We fell in love and got engaged in March of 2019. My dad, Michael, loves her and the people I am closest to all love her as well. Most importantly, we have Jehovah's blessing. I miss those Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness conventions. My mom's a Jehovah Witness, so that's how I grew up. I used to love those assemblies. They used to sell these amazing danishes at the assemblies.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Cheese danishes. I'm Angela Yee, and that is your rumor report. All right. Thank you, Miss Yee. Now, when we come back, we got front page news. What are we talking about? Let's talk about the Republican National Convention. And, you know, today is also the March on Washington, and I'll give you more details about that as well. All right.
Starting point is 00:30:08 We'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy.
Starting point is 00:30:19 We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get in some front page news. Where we starting, Nhi? Well, let's start with the Republican National Convention, Day 4. That's the day that Donald Trump officially accepted his party's nomination. As you know, now, amongst the things that Donald Trump did
Starting point is 00:30:37 talk about last night, he discussed the power of the police. We have to give law enforcement back their power. They are afraid to act. They are afraid to lose their pension. They are afraid to lose their jobs. And by being afraid, they are not able to do the job that they so desperately want to do for you. When there is police misconduct, the justice system must hold wrongdoers fully and completely accountable
Starting point is 00:31:07 and it will, but we must never allow mob rule. Listen, what world is he living in? Police have all the power. We actually wish police were afraid to act. We wish they were afraid to lose their pension. Nobody is preventing officers from doing their job.
Starting point is 00:31:24 In fact, we would love if they did their jobs and didn't kill us. Killing us isn't doing their jobs. Killing us is doing their jobs poorly. That's malpractice. Okay? Now, here's what we should be able to rely on whoever's our president, right, when things happen
Starting point is 00:31:39 for them to take a stand for what is right. So listen to what Donald Trump had to say about what's happening in Kenosha. In the strongest possible terms, the Republican Party condemns the rioting, looting, arson, and violence we have seen in Democrat-run cities all, like Kenosha, Minneapolis, Portland, Chicago, and New York, and many others, Democrat-run. This problem could easily be fixed if they wanted to. Just call.
Starting point is 00:32:08 We're ready to go in. We'll take care of your problem in a matter of hours. Just call. Just call. I tell you what, man. This guy's crazy, man. I don't feel confident. Yeah, if police reform is one of your issues, criminal justice reform, if you wanted the
Starting point is 00:32:21 people on the ground, in the streets protesting, if you're tired of seeing police officers kill American citizens for no reason, then Trump let you know last night, don't vote for me. I'll handle that problem. I'm not your guy. I'll send a mob down there. We'll take care of it. He's crazy. He is crazy. Alright, well, along with that
Starting point is 00:32:39 fair, Donald Trump wants to make sure that you know that Joe Biden will destroy America. How can the Democrat Party ask the leader lead our country when it spends so much time tearing down our country? In the left's backward view, they do not see America as the most free, just and exceptional nation on earth. Instead, they see a wicked nation that must be punished for its sins? Joe Biden is not a savior of America's soul. And if given the chance, he will be the destroyer of American greatness. Joe Biden responded on Anderson Cooper and said this. Donald Trump saying you're not going to be safe in Joe Biden's America.
Starting point is 00:33:21 All the video being played is being played in Donald Trump's America. These guys are rooting for violence. That's what it's all about. You know, I made it clear from the beginning that there's no place for violence or looting or burning. You think he's actually rooting for violence, that he wants violence because it allows him to claim a law and order mantle? Sure. And because it takes everybody's eye off the ball. Want to talk about safety? Look at the biggest safety issue in the nation. COVID. I mean, he's right. I mean, this is Donald Trump's America. But somehow Trump has convinced people this is Biden and the Democrats' fault. It's unreal. And I admire people who can lie and manipulate folks the way Trump can.
Starting point is 00:34:02 If you can make people believe your BS is actually somebody else's fault and have folks buy into it, I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at the consumer who falls for the nonsense. Also, Trump is letting people know that if Biden wins, tear this country up. That's really what he's saying. If Biden wins, tear his country apart.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Let people know you won't be safe in a Biden-Harris America. He also mentioned Joe Biden 41 times yesterday in his speech. 41 times. I think Biden mentioned him once. Sounds like he's a little scared. All right. Today is also August 28th, which is the March on Washington.
Starting point is 00:34:36 Just to let you guys know, 57 years since that I Have a Dream speech happened with Martin Luther King Jr. So they anticipate they have a permit for about 50,000 people to be in Washington. It's all led by the Reverend Al Sharpton and the National Action Network. It's the get your knee off our next commitment march on Washington that's happening today. Wear your mask, God damn it. All right. Well, that is your front page news. Now, when we come back, let's open up the phone lines.
Starting point is 00:35:05 800-585-1051. Would you date yourself? That is the question right now. I need to let y'all know Envy's been talking about this for a week and this morning, 30 minutes ago, he deleted it. I shouldn't have said anything, but I screenshotted it. He said, flashback Friday, shout to this beautiful woman at DJ Envy. I woke up for the first time and she wasn't laying next to me. Why are you shouting yourself out and calling yourself a beautiful woman? I did it on Instagram. I said, shout out to this beautiful woman, Gia Casey, but my wife doesn't have a Twitter.
Starting point is 00:35:40 So since she doesn't have a Twitter, it said, it automatically just corrected itself And put DJ Envy I wouldn't say shout out to this beautiful woman DJ Envy You mind that? I don't buy that I don't know but I'm just glad y'all didn't do that other topic I got nervous for a second Whoa now that was wild That was a wild topic
Starting point is 00:35:57 I got so nervous I was like what Alright well what was the other topic Maybe next hour You know what maybe next hour Because it is Freaky Freaky Freaky Friday. No, that one came from Envy. No, that did not come from me. That did not come from me.
Starting point is 00:36:10 That did not come from me. But anyway, let's open up the phone line. 800-585-1051. Would you date yourself? Look at yourself in the mirror. You know how you are. You know how you act. Would you date yourself?
Starting point is 00:36:21 All right, that is the question. For myself, the old Envy, no way. I was insecure, right. That is the question. For myself, the old envy, no way. I was insecure, controlling. I was an ass. No, I wouldn't. The new envy, yeah. I mean, I'm a good guy. Plus you had that nice ass.
Starting point is 00:36:36 What? You said with a nice ass. What's wrong with you? 800-585-1051. Would you date yourself? It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. You kinky.
Starting point is 00:36:44 The Breakfast Club. I morning. You can't get... The Breakfast Club. I'm going to human resources. Well, what happened was I texted, I put on Instagram a picture of my wife and I said she wasn't laying next to me. My wife doesn't have a Twitter, so it goes on Twitter automatically and because she doesn't have a Twitter,
Starting point is 00:37:00 it just put my name, at DJ Envy. That's what it is. You can go to Instagram and see the post. But anyway... It doesn't have to go on Twitter automatically. It does on mine. When I hit Instagram, it automatically does Twitter as well. But like I was saying on my podcast, we were talking about, would you date yourself? You know, looking at yourself now, would you date yourself? Let me ask you, Charlemagne. I know that you're small, you're tiny, you have a lot of insecurities,
Starting point is 00:37:27 different colors on your face. Would you date yourself, bro? First of all, I don't know what you're talking about. The old version of me. Like a bottom. A little messy bottom. Don't even deserve yourself. Yes, ma'am.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Listen, the old version of me that led with ego no this version of me that leads with soul yes that's because i have done the work on myself you know through therapy and having a sacred purpose coach i practice mindfulness in a real way and the greatest compliment that i receive nowadays is people tell me how much i evolve so when i look back at the old me and listen to things i used to say things i used used to do, I didn't love myself. I didn't love myself like I thought I did. I was a hurt individual and hurt people hurt people. And I led with my trauma in a lot of situations. But I went on a journey of healing and I'm still healing in a lot of ways.
Starting point is 00:38:15 But I know that I'm connected to this great universe that God built and God built me to be a part of it. So I feel whole. So this whole version of me, yes, I would date this whole version of me. I'm not a broken human with a wounded ego anymore. So, yes, I would date this whole version of me. I'm not a broken human with a wounded ego anymore. So yes, I would date this version of me. I am a catch. All right. You're not a catch, but I said the same thing. Before I had an ego, I was insecure. No, I wouldn't have dated me. And thank God, Gia stayed with me. Now, yeah, I'm a different individual. I have changed. I have evolved and I continue to evolve. Now, what about you, Yee? Oh, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:38:47 I think I've been an amazing, I would think myself. I think I'm an amazing girlfriend. All my ex-boyfriends love me. I don't have any of those issues. I think I've made poor decisions when it comes to the men that I dated. But no, I'm a very, like, nice, accommodating person. I go above and beyond. That's a damn lie.
Starting point is 00:39:03 You're failing yourself. What about the boy? You got the boyfriend. You got beat up. What about the boyfriend who left at the game when he was, y'all was sitting in row 300 and then you moved to the, to the court side with Jay-Z. With Jay-Z.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Yeah. What about that? That's the same guy. I believe. Well, number one. Okay. He still wanted to date me after that.
Starting point is 00:39:22 And I still was very nice to him, but he was not my boyfriend. We just went out a few times. It wasn't that serious. But, you know, I don't think. He was a good guy. I like that guy. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:39:33 You're saying she's the woman. Do you want to date him? No. That's what it sounds like. He is the woman that all her exes still want to be with. But him. Yeah, I think that I do. I do believe that I have a good girlfriend
Starting point is 00:39:45 because I'm the type of person that I do, like, everything for you that I can. I always do, like, special surprises. You know, I'm really amazing in bed. So, yeah, I think I like... Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You feeling yourself? Feeling myself?
Starting point is 00:39:58 Feeling myself? All right. Let's go to the phone lines. 800-585-1051. Hello, who's this? Hello. Whoa. Hello. Hello, who's this? Hello What's your name, bro? I'm Danny, man
Starting point is 00:40:09 Danny, man, would you date yourself, bro? I'm Danny Would you date yourself, Danny, man? Hell yeah, I would Talk to me, Danny, why would you date yourself? He dated himself this morning, it sounds like. No, no. See, I'm about 55 years old
Starting point is 00:40:29 and I'm now primed and I know that women want lovers and not fighters. Oh, you can be a fighter? I'm a lover, not a fighter. Okay. Old school game. That's right. That's right. Old school. Okay. I That's right Old school Okay
Starting point is 00:40:45 I don't like when guys say I'm a lover Not a fighter In regards to dating a woman Because it sounds like You was a domestic violence abuser I think he means arguing He means arguing
Starting point is 00:40:58 I think he means like arguing It just sounds wild Like why would you tell a woman That hey I'm a lover Not a fighter I would hope not I would hope not. I'm hoping not a fighter. Hello, who's this?
Starting point is 00:41:08 Yvonne. Hey, would you date yourself? No. Tell us why. What do you smell that we don't smell? Oh, my goodness. Because I'm clingy, but I'm not clingy in the I want to sit up under you type of sense. I'm clingy in the sense that let's go play Pokemon Go.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Let's watch some more anime. And just like, let me just look at you. Pokemon Go? How old are you? You just stare at people? What was that? How old are you? 32.
Starting point is 00:41:39 You still play Pokemon? You didn't really name a reason not to date yourself. Yeah, I don't know. What if you date somebody else that enjoys anime? Most people think those are childish, right? Most people think at my age... Pokemon at 35 is not a reason, guys? Abby, no judgment.
Starting point is 00:41:54 There's a guy out there that's playing Pokemon also. Yeah, y'all talking over her, too. She said something else. You said you're a big BTS fan? Yes. I'm a black woman. I know, I grew up in Kansas City and now I live in Minneapolis. And most people expect that I'm
Starting point is 00:42:10 always going to be listening to rap music. And most people don't like K-pop and stuff like that. And I've been listening to it for over 10 years. So when people are in my car, what they're going to hear, they're going to hear Blackpink. They're going to hear NCT. They're going to hear Girls' Generation. You know, they're going to hear stuffpink. They're going to hear NCT. They're going to hear Girls' Generation.
Starting point is 00:42:26 They're going to hear stuff that they don't want to be listening to. And if you're dating somebody that every time you get in their car or every time they get in the car with you, they don't want to be vibing with the same stuff as you. Well, dating is about compromise, right? So you might put me on to something new. I might not be into K-pop. I might hear it in your car.
Starting point is 00:42:43 I might like it. I might not play Pokemon Go, but you might ask me to play it and I might enjoy it. I might not be into K-pop. I might hear it in your car. I might like it. I might not play Pokemon Go, but you might ask me to play it and I might enjoy it. I'm not playing it. Clearly a lot of people like it. Because he started playing it too. He started listening to K-pop and playing because that's what I'm into. Can you sing a
Starting point is 00:42:57 K-pop song for me right fast? Can you sing a K-pop song for me right fast? Please. Oh, sure. I can do Dynamite, yes Go ahead, do it Cup of Milk, Rock and Roll Oh, I can't remember all the s*** Well, clearly a lot of people like BTS
Starting point is 00:43:14 Because they broke all kinds of records on YouTube And they'll be performing at the VMAs on Sunday Yeah, I think you're being too hard on yourself I can't wait for that I think you're being too hard on yourself, my love I think that just because you have different interests than the average, I guess you would think black person doesn't mean that you're not
Starting point is 00:43:29 dateable. Well, but the other side of that, what a lot of people don't understand is there's a lot of negativity thrown at females who say that they watch anime. Because then, oh, you watch anime? Well, name da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. Oh, well, what happened on this episode? Well, you got to start, like,
Starting point is 00:43:45 always kind of, like, proving yourself. What is anime? I'm sorry, I don't know what anime is. Anime is cartoons. Japanese cartoons. Japanese cartoons. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:43:54 But they're not made just for kids. They're made for adults as well. Okay. It's also Tina Turner's real name. All right. Well, thank you so much, mama. 800-585-1051. Would you date yourself?
Starting point is 00:44:12 Call us now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:44:20 Now, if you just joined us, we're asking 800-585-1051. I was talking about this on my last podcast with my wife. Would you date yourself? The person that you see right now. Let's go to the phone lines. Hello, who's this? It's Deesha. Hey, Deesha. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:44:36 Good morning, Deesha. We're asking, would you date yourself, mama? I would have to say, I would agree with you, DJ like old me no i wouldn't like i was like super like aggressive and it was like hard for me to kind of let people in and i didn't really care about people feelings but it really took me to kind of like grow up and realize that not everything is about you and so like, like, now I would date myself.
Starting point is 00:45:06 I would actually marry myself. But, you know, old me most definitely nah, no. It's very important what you just said. You said that you wouldn't have dated yourself because of what? There's something you said that made me think about you were leading with ego.
Starting point is 00:45:22 Oh, I was very, like, self-centered and I wouldn't let people in. Yes, you were leading with ego and not your soul. That's what that is about. That's what that's about. And I wouldn't even give a person like a chance to even like I was just very standoffish when it comes like I always
Starting point is 00:45:38 kind of was scared of love like just seeing it how what I seen what love was growing up. So I was always scared to even deal with that. But as I got older, I realized that you know, love and relationship and stuff is how you make it.
Starting point is 00:45:54 And if typically if you put like a good foot forward then you'll get something back in return. So like I look at things like that now. So I feel like, yeah, I most definitely would date myself now. Continue to do the work on yourself. Thank you, Mama. Hello, who's this? So, like, I look at things like that now, so I feel like, yeah, I most definitely would date myself now. Okay. Continue to do the work on yourself.
Starting point is 00:46:07 Thank you, Mama. Hello, who's this? Yeah, this is Troy. Hey, Troy, good morning. Good morning, how you doing? Man, thank you for taking my call. Hey, Troy. I got a serious question, and no one has been able to answer for it.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Okay. You know, I'm ex-military, retired military. I don't like to talk about a president. So I'm going to use that term, that man. I always hear that man say, I've done more for African-Americans than any other president. Can you enlighten me on what he did for us? No, I can't. But that's not what we're discussing
Starting point is 00:46:48 right now. We're just asking, would you date yourself, bro? Would you date yourself, brother? You're looking at yourself now. Would you date yourself, man? Oh, no. No, no, no. I'm too. No, he can't even stay on topic. What? Hello? Hey. God damn.
Starting point is 00:47:04 Y'all made him look in the mirror and he hung up on himself. He was like, Jesus Christ. He answered that he wouldn't date himself so matter-of-factly. I wanted to talk to this mother. He's like, oh, no, no, no way. Hello, who's this? This is Denise Booth. Hey, we're asking, would you date yourself, mama?
Starting point is 00:47:20 1,000%. I was married to Antonio Tarver the fourth time. I'm like, have we ever in the world? Not still with the five. You were married to Antonio Tarver the fourth time. Like, have we ever in the world not still with the five? You were married to Antonio Tarver? And you stuck up for me, Mr. Charlamagne. I did. What happened? Tell me, what happened?
Starting point is 00:47:35 You were on the Wendy Williams show at the time, and Superhead was doing an interview, and you had got so mad at her. You were just like, why is she putting her name in the book why are you putting her in a book and i never even read the book and i wrote my own book it's called everything that glitters it's on deniseboothauthor.com and it just came out and i i really think women need to know that we give men so much more power and women have the strength beyond we could ever reimagine like i was just reimagine. Like women are the strongest species.
Starting point is 00:48:06 I do agree black women are the strongest species. I was just watching Antonio Tarver on Rocky Balboa like yesterday. It was on MTV 2 or something. And my book is about Rocky Balboa as well. I was his wife at that time. You was Rocky Balboa's wife?
Starting point is 00:48:22 Oh, while he was filming the movie. No, I was Antonio Tarver's wife when he was a superstar. Charlamagne, is it too early? It is too early for him. Wow, you did it. Rocky Balboa and Antonio Tarver. I thought she meant Sylvester Stallone. And DJ Envy, I actually met you as well.
Starting point is 00:48:37 I helped you, DJ Envy, at rehab. You helped me at rehab? You helped DJ Envy at rehab? That sounded crazy. She's talking about the club. Too many connections. Nope, stop right now. help DJ Envy at rehab That sounded crazy She's talking about the club Too many connections Nope Stop right now
Starting point is 00:48:47 Why was Envy in rehab I always thought he was on drugs Tell me man No judgment You should ask him He was there Why were you in rehab baby He might have liked getting
Starting point is 00:48:57 You know Situated How do you Have fun in rehab Stop talking about rehab You're talking about rehab The club by DJ Why are you so quiet
Starting point is 00:49:04 DJ Envy I don't know what you're talking about But I'm hoping you're talking about rehab the club by DJ. Why are you so quiet? DJ, you hear me? I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm hoping you're talking about rehab the club. I've never been to any other rehab. Is this in the book as well? It was at the nightclub. It was at the day party.
Starting point is 00:49:15 At Vegas. What year was this? Was that my birthday? No, it was like Memorial Day weekend. They hired you to DJ. Yeah, what year was this? I want to say maybe three years ago. They definitely were trying to make it a thing.
Starting point is 00:49:30 Alright, well thank you for calling, Mama. What's the moral of the story, guys? The moral of the story is be someone you would date. That's all. Be somebody that leads with soul and not ego. The person that leads with soul is the person you want to date. The person that leads with ego, run. Alright, well I'm going to take a nap, man. We got rumors on the way.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Yes, let's talk about Terry Crews. Yet again, he was trending. All right. We'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody.
Starting point is 00:49:53 It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Terry Crews. This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee. Rumor has it. On The Breakfast Club. So listen up. This is the Rumor Report with Angela Yee. Well, Terry Crews, for some reason, went to social media and said, boycott Magic City. Black love matters.
Starting point is 00:50:16 What? He's not even from Atlanta. I don't know what made him even possibly say this for any reason. But yes, that happened. Then he also said, I also pray for the swift recovery of Jacob Blake and can find no justification for shooting a man seven times in the back in front of his children. The trauma of witnessing what happened to their father is devastating and I want justice for him and his family. He said my tweet yesterday, however, well intentioned was ill timed. He said, I pray for the many women trapped and trafficked in the life of the sex industry and see no way out. I want them to know they are not product to be used, but people to be loved.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Terry Crews needs a hobby. He needs to start pushing himself harder in the gym or something. He's clearly reached his peak on his bench press because there's no reason for you to be that boy to where you are a grown ass troll. That's just trolling. You're just trolling at this point, and it's corny. What does boycotting Magic City have to do with any of these things? I have no idea. As if black love doesn't exist in Magic City, and what that got to do with sex
Starting point is 00:51:15 trafficking, none of it makes any sense. He's just trolling. He's a grown-ass troll at this point, and it's actually sad. Doesn't he host? What does he host? Doesn't he host America's Got Talent or something? Yes. Well, AGT should stand for America's Grown Troll. If that's the show he hosts.
Starting point is 00:51:31 I don't even know what show he hosts. What show does he host? I think it's AGT. Yeah, remember he commented on Gabrielle Union because of his role on America's Got Talent when she got fired from the show. Well, AGT for Terry Crews stands for America's Grown Troll. That's what it stands for. That's what AGT stands for in Terry Crews. Like, America's Grown Troll. Alright, Bobby Schmurda, his parole
Starting point is 00:51:52 hearing has been delayed. He'll have to wait another few weeks to find out what will happen. He was originally scheduled to appear before the New York State Board of Parole sometime during the week of August 17th, but that hasn't happened. Now they're saying there's a new date for that parole hearing.
Starting point is 00:52:06 So they said it's currently scheduled for the week of September 14th. Yeah, I thought they were saying he was going to be out before Labor Day weekend. I was hoping, but I hope he's home soon. All I know is when Bobby Smurda comes home, he better receive all of the gifts. He better get celebrated by hip hop so much
Starting point is 00:52:22 because hip hop puts so much emphasis on people not snitching and going to jail and standing ten toes down and doing their time. Bobby not only did that, but he took a longer sentence. So him and Roddy Rich, not Roddy Rich, what's the brother's name? Roddy... Roddy Rebel.
Starting point is 00:52:40 Roddy Rebel. So him and Roddy Rebel would get to save him a lot of time. So they should get all the rewards. And I saw Young Thug say something very honorable on Instagram. He said he definitely got something for Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel when they come home. So I think a lot of other people should follow suit. How do you reward someone for doing what hip-hop says is the right thing? I hope it's the money, and I hope it's a deal, too.
Starting point is 00:53:02 I hope it's a deal as well, because I want to see Bobby Shmurda do well. He was a good kid. He's a good kid. All right. Now, Joe Button, as you know, has revealed that he'll no longer be exclusively hosting his podcast on Spotify. I guess contract negotiations didn't go the way that he thought that they would. And so Spotify has now issued a response to Joe Button saying that he was leaving. And they said it was our desire to keep Joe Button on Spotify. Joe referenced on his show we made him a considerable offer one that was significantly
Starting point is 00:53:30 larger and many times the value of the existing agreement and reflective of the current market and size of his audience unfortunately we could not come to terms and we respect his wishes to find a new home for his show so we all there you it. It's official now. Yeah, we all make choices. Joe Button made a choice. Spotify made a choice. Now, after that statement, it was posted, Joe Button responded and said,
Starting point is 00:53:53 Joe has responded. F y'all and that deal. And he went on to say, and that's one of the headlines was that Joe Button and Charlamagne are starting a network together. Wow. You the secretary of defense. How are you going to do that? You the secretary of defense.
Starting point is 00:54:06 How are you going to do that, brother? There's no headline that says that, by the way. It is. It is on Hot New Hip Hop. Well, Hot New Hip Hop is a goddamn lie. That is so fake and false. How much are you giving for deals? Me and Joe Button are not starting
Starting point is 00:54:20 no network together. I don't even know what that is. I don't know where that's coming from. You a liar, man. Just be honest. I don't know what you're talking about. I do not know. That is a lie.
Starting point is 00:54:29 The internet is the devil, boy. That's a real headline for real, you? Well, what happened, and I'm going to tell you, this is how I looked at it, right? What Joe Button wrote was, if you think I was complaining about a contract,
Starting point is 00:54:38 then you missed it. And this message wasn't for you. My God is too good to me. He said, the part some people are missing is that not once have I ever asked message wasn't for you. My God is too good to me. He said, the part some people are missing is not that once, is that not once have I ever asked anybody besides Ian for
Starting point is 00:54:49 anything. I go get mine. Go these are our standard practices. Another Potter. Then he says, Charlemagne, Joe Button is a network. We'll talk later. So I think he was responding to something that Charlemagne said because it says Charlemagne then it's comma.
Starting point is 00:55:05 Joe Button is a network. Because you were saying that Joe Button just has his podcast. And it's not like he has a network like Joe Rogan. And so I think he's trying to say that he has his own network. I think it sounds better when he said Charlamagne and him are going to start this network. I think that's better. Let's not put that out there. That is a lie.
Starting point is 00:55:23 Anybody running with that is a liar. Charlamagne Tha God can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, me and Joe Budden are not starting a network. No. No way. It's not happening. See, on Hot New Hip Hop, it says Joe Budden goes off after Spotify's official response to him leaving the platform, cursing them out, and teasing an independent network
Starting point is 00:55:41 from him and Charlamagne. Well, please, Hot New Hip Hop, make sure to run the headline today. Charlamagne Tha God says that is a damn lie. Okay? That is not true. I did hear he is starting a network, though, and has some podcasts that he's launching. Okay. All right, well, I'm Angela Yee, and that is your rumor report.
Starting point is 00:55:58 We're dropping the clues bombs for Joe Budden for starting his network. All right. Congratulations. Charlamagne. Yes, sir. Who are you giving that donkey to? Herbert McClellan. I want Herbert McClellan
Starting point is 00:56:08 to come to the front of the congregation. We'd like to have a word with him. He's a Florida man, by the way. All right. We'll get into that next. Keep it locked. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:56:16 The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country.
Starting point is 00:56:28 I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia.
Starting point is 00:56:41 I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. The Waikana tribe own country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a racket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast.
Starting point is 00:57:13 That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, guys. I'm Kate Max. You know that rush of endorphins you feel after a great workout? Well, that's when the real magic happens. So if you love hearing real, inspiring stories from the people you know, follow, and admire, join me every week for Post Run High. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy, and very fun.
Starting point is 00:58:13 Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So y'all, this is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out.
Starting point is 00:58:47 Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap is another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history. Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it.
Starting point is 00:59:37 Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Make sure you tell them to watch out for Florida Man. The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida. Yes, you are a donkey. A Florida man attacked an ATM for a very strange reason. It gave him too
Starting point is 01:00:08 much money. Florida man is arrested after deputies say he rigged the door to his home in an attempt to electrocute his pregnant wife. Police arrested an Orlando man for attacking a flamingo. The Breakfast Club, bitchy. Donkey of the Day with Charlemagne the guy. I don't know why y'all keep letting him get y'all like this. Donkey of the Day for Friday
Starting point is 01:00:24 August 28th goes to a 27 year old Florida man named Herbert McClellan. Now what does your Uncle Sharla always tell you? The craziest people in America come from the Bronx and all of Florida and today is no different. By the way guys, just for fun, I did some research and by research
Starting point is 01:00:39 I googled craziest states in all of America. One of the first things that popped up was a Deadspin article from 2012 titled The 10 Most Insane States in America. And the first state on the list was, you guessed it, Florida. Okay, why? Well, according to this Deadspin article, because Florida has naked zombies. Remember back in that time, around 2012, when folks was on bath salts and people in Florida was walking the streets, biting into each other.
Starting point is 01:01:07 Remember that? President Barack Obama doesn't get the credit he deserves for thwarting a potential zombie pandemic. Dropping the clues bombs for President Barack Obama for thwarting. I think I'm saying the word correctly. Thwarting, thwarting, thwarting, avoiding a potential zombie pandemic. Now, if this administration was in control during the bath salt zombie era, I guarantee it would be donning the dead out here, but that's not what we are here today for, people.
Starting point is 01:01:30 We are here to talk about the crazy state of Florida. There was another poll that said the craziest state in America was California. The second state was Florida. They got scores. 61.57 was Cali, 58.21 was Florida, but clearly we know those scores are wrong. We all know it's Florida by a landslide, okay?
Starting point is 01:01:48 But Herbert, Herbert, Herbert, Herbert. Herbert was charged with petite theft in dealing in stolen property. He is being held on $12,000 bond. Now, what did Herbert steal, ladies and gentlemen? Let's go to WTSP Tampa Bay 10 for the report, please. Hey, if you're going to steal lottery tickets, maybe don't try to cash them out
Starting point is 01:02:08 at the same place you took them. Like this guy right here. Police say Herbert McClellan grabbed 13 scratch-off tickets from a Speedway convenience store in Clearwater Beach. When he realized one of them was a $30 winner, yeah, he went back to the same
Starting point is 01:02:23 store to cash it. Now, obviously, workers called 911 and police arrested him. Herbert. Herbie. Come on, Herb. Herb stole 13 scratch-off tickets from a convenience store, won $30, and went right back to the same store he stole the tickets from to cash them. The last time I heard or saw something this stupid happen in a convenience store was when a young man named Slim was on the run from the
Starting point is 01:02:51 police and he went into a gas station to steal gas and handed the store clerk his gun just because the store clerk asked to see it. It's not a fair trade. If you don't let me hold it, man, you're gonna have to stick up another gas station. I'll kill you right now. You don't look like a killer to me. What's it about holding a deadly weapon that just makes me feel so alive? What the f*** are you doing? What you doing? I'm just messing with you, man. I think that might have happened in Florida, too. The moral of the story is some donkey of the days just sell
Starting point is 01:03:35 themselves, especially when they happen in Florida. Please give Herbert McClellan the sweet sounds of the Hamilton's. Oh, now you are the donkey of the day. You are the donkey of the day. Yee-haw. Now, I think today is a perfect day to play a game of Guess What Race It Is.
Starting point is 01:04:08 This is what I really wanted to get to. A 27-year-old from Florida. His name is Herbert McClellan. Stole 13 scratch-off tickets, won $30, went right back to the same store to cash them. Angela Yee, Guess what race it is. Man, I want to say that he is white and on meth. Tell me why. Why is he white and on meth, Yee?
Starting point is 01:04:37 Because it just doesn't make sense. Unless you're high. Okay. Okay. That's a good answer. So, DJ Envy. A 27-year-old Florida man named Herbert McClellan went into a gas station, a convenience store, stole 13 scratch-off tickets, won $30, and went right back to the same store he stole the tickets from to get that $30.
Starting point is 01:04:56 Guess what race it is? Black. Why do you think he's black? Could you Google? No. Well, he is black. I don't know if he's black or not. Why do you think he's black? Because Herbert is usually No. Well, he is black. I don't know if he's black or not. Why do you think he's black?
Starting point is 01:05:06 Because Herbert is usually a black name. I know a bunch of Herberts, and they're all black. Okay. Is that because people call you a herb? Like, when you was growing up, they'd be like, you a herb. Is that why you think Herbert's a black name? No, there was a couple people on my block named Herbert growing up. So I just know the name, and they were all black people.
Starting point is 01:05:23 Yeah, and that's the reason why. Alright. Well, one of you is correct, one of you is wrong. Okay. DJ Envy, you are correct. Herbert is a negro. I didn't want to think that. He's an N-word
Starting point is 01:05:42 actually. He stole it and was like, oh, he went back to the store. He could have went to any other store a bad And then you know He stole it And it was like Oh he went And he went back to the store He could have went To any other store Went back to the store He stole it from
Starting point is 01:05:49 You know Yeah this is a perfect Example of Yeah Yeah Yeah So yeah Alright
Starting point is 01:05:57 Alright well thank you For that donkey of the day Now when we come back Of course today is Angela Yee Day And tell them about Angela Yee Day Yes So today them about Angela Yee Day. So today is a day that was given to me by the mayor here in New York City.
Starting point is 01:06:10 And so last year we celebrated in person. This year we are doing a virtual concert, which I'm really excited about. I wasn't sure I wanted to do anything, but then I thought I would do some things today that would be of service to people and also provide some free entertainment. So all throughout the day today, there will be a live concert that's going to be playing throughout the city. You can also check it out on the Breakfast Club YouTube channel as well. But Beanie Man, Cranium, Christopher Martin, Josh X, Hood Celebrity, Kes, Noah Power, Romaine Virgo, Queen Ifrica, Aji and D-Major are all performing.
Starting point is 01:06:42 DJ Nori co-hosted it with me. It's also the West Indian Day Parade, one of the biggest parades that we have. That's not going to be happening next week, and that always happens Labor Day, so I wanted to make sure I celebrate Caribbean culture as well. So that's what we're doing today. And Romaine Virgo actually checked in from Ocho Rios, Jamaica,
Starting point is 01:06:59 and just filled us in on everything that he has going on and what's going on in Jamaica with coronavirus. It's a different time, guys. So I just wanted to still spread some joy and awareness. All right, well, we'll get into that next. We'll talk to Romaine Virgo. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:07:19 You're checking out the world's most dangerous morning show. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We got a special guest in the building who's going to be performing at Angela Yee Day. We have Romaine Virgo. Yeah, what's up, Envy?
Starting point is 01:07:34 Give thanks, man. It's a blessing. Well, first, I want to thank you, Romaine Virgo, because, you know, Angela Yee Day is on August 28th, and you are participating and did an amazing job so I'm really excited for people to see that and you were one of the people that I really wanted to get on and I know last time we were trying to do something with you you had twins and so yeah congratulations yeah give thanks man it's a blessing man it's really and truly a blessing now how has fatherhood changed you
Starting point is 01:08:01 at all because now it's not just one you got got two. Yeah, I mean, I wasn't expecting, you know, all of this blessing. You know, I mean, you know, my wife, she always prayed for twins. You know, and when we realized that it was going to be twins, it was like so amazing. It was unbelievable, you know. So we're just giving thanks, you know. As I said, it's really and truly life changing. Nowadays, I have to be putting them first before every single thing that I do.
Starting point is 01:08:31 It's just a life-changing experience for me. I'm grateful because I'm learning so much from them. We're just blessed, man, and giving thanks. Absolutely. Now, you have this song, Dutty Men, and I'm sure having girls now, that song has a more powerful meaning for you. Most definitely.
Starting point is 01:08:52 You know, Dutty Man is one of the songs that I'm reaching out to. You know, people out there in the world, you know, who are, you know, sexually abusing our women and children, you know, and, you know, I feel like it was my duty to stand up. You know, I and children, you know, and, you know, I feel like it was my duty to stand up. You know, I'm always, you know,
Starting point is 01:09:09 defending women and children in my music since day one, you know, and it was getting so bad in Jamaica that, you know, I felt like I needed to do something more, you know, through music to see how we can reach out and help and change, you know, the way that society treats our women and children. And I think Dottie Man did what it was supposed to do and is still doing it, you know. Every day, everywhere we go, you know, it's the children on the internet singing the song. They're sending us, you know, screenshots, you know, videos that they're doing you know and it's it's uplifting it it give me even more strength you know to to to go and write more songs like
Starting point is 01:09:50 these because you know if if we don't stand up as public figures and people who have a voice and and and speak for those who don't have a voice then you know we won't see change you know and and that's what we're doing with a song like documentty Man. How are things in Jamaica right now with coronavirus? It's getting, you know, worse, you know, than we expected. You know, numbers are climbing daily, you know, even more than probably a month ago. No, it's getting so bad. You know, nowadays we're getting like 30 cases. You know, the last one we had was 100 and odd, you know, new cases, you know, nowadays we're getting like 30 cases, you know, the last one we had was 100 and
Starting point is 01:10:25 odd, you know, new cases, you know, which is, I see as, you know, frightening and something that, you know, we as a people have to take very serious. I think our government, they are trying, I think, you know, but as people, we need to take it more, you know, serious, you know, like on a personal level, you know, to protect ourselves, protect our families, you know, so that we can all get past this, you know, terrible thing that is happening around the world right now. I've been seeing some parties out there, though. I've been seeing some parties out in Jamaica. Are people taking it serious or are they still like, I'm tired of this. I've been home since March. I feel like some people are a bit, you know, you know, tired of hearing about coronavirus so much that they feel like they can't free up a bit
Starting point is 01:11:12 more. And that is the reason why you might see people, you know, out partying. You know, Jamaicans, we're always, we're the party, you know, capital of the world, you know, and people just want to get out. You know, people feel like they're locked up for too long, you know, but, you know, this is, you know, capital of the world, you know, and people just want to get out, you know, people are feel like they're locked up for too long, you know, but, you know, this is, you know, when we see what is going on around the world, you know, and so many lives that have been lost, you know,
Starting point is 01:11:33 through this thing, you know, I think as a people, we should, you know, you know, look at that and say, well, you know, this can happen to us, you know, and I think now is the time that, you know, it's hitting home and, you know And when you see people in a community, our communities have to be closed down because of what is happening. And I think now is the time that people are going to take it serious. You know, we Jamaicans, we love to party. But I think that we have to look and see what's going on. I really and truly take it serious.
Starting point is 01:12:02 I know that it is something that can lose a life from it. We just have to take it serious. At first, it seemed like Jamaica did such an amazing job of keeping the numbers down. They closed it off immediately. They were like, we don't want y'all coming here. We're trying to protect people. But it is a hard balance
Starting point is 01:12:22 between finances and tourism and the economy yeah you're right staying safe because i was going to come to jamaica i had a whole trip planned yeah i ended up canceling it like two days before because i was like i don't want to feel and you know you do have to get tested back then you did as soon as you're in it but i was like i don't want to come out there and then people be mad because it's irresponsible because you know it's it's very scary because most most of the cases that we're getting here you know it would be linked from people traveling to Jamaica you know so most of the cases that you hear announced on the news
Starting point is 01:12:55 you know people would say like it's linked from cases that are coming in from x and y you know so as a country we need to move forward at the same time because people have to work and people have to go about their business on that basis that was the reason why the government opened the borders you know but we see where people coming in you know you know most people aren't sticking to the rules either to self-quarantine for like 14 days people are still coming in and going out you know so you know because of reasons like those you know you know i think you know would would would help us to spike you know what what what is happening now and that is the reason why we're seeing so many numbers you know these high
Starting point is 01:13:35 numbers that are coming out even more than the earlier part you know we used to hear like two or five or you know the most probably 10 but now we are here in the 20s and 30s and and hundreds in a day you know that is crazy so it is something that as i say we have to take serious other people and if we don't if we don't start to take seriously you know start wearing our mask and sanitizing and and you know it's social distancing and everything like that then it will only get worse you know and and so it's in our it's in our hands to really and truly step up and do the right thing. All right, we have more with Romaine Virgo.
Starting point is 01:14:11 When we come back, don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Romaine Virgo. How hard is it to break into the U.S. market? I just remember
Starting point is 01:14:25 um as a kid vp records was so big this is when it was wrecked this is when they were going yeah jay's records and shipping records and and now you just don't see as many jamaican artists or west indian artists in the states as much how difficult is breaking to the u.s and how important is that for you even if it is even important yeah it Yeah it is you know breaking in you know I feel like there are certain levels to it you know the way I would want to break into the U.S. market it is a tough tough one you know you know we've seen so many artists before my time come and they try you know a few get through with you know like a song or two songs and then sometimes, most times it does fade out. It is always something that I try to wrap my brain around to understand what's the requirement.
Starting point is 01:15:15 Because if it's talent, then we have all the talent in the world. I personally feel like Finding the right team and the right people to expose you to the right links, to make things happen, is what we're lacking. We have people with good hearts, but at the end of the day, people who can call some shots that will definitely make things really happen, is what we're not having. I think we have a young set of artists that are coming out now who are taking time out to understand the business, but it's still not happening the way we would want it to happen. Honestly, I'm not sure. that is something that we are you know trying to learn as we go by you know we will we will you know fit in in a crowd where is it diaspora people from the Caribbean people from Jamaica but you know outside of that crowd we won't find a lot of people you know really and truly you know you know eating up the music like
Starting point is 01:16:23 we would want it to you know um so it's something that we're working on to be honest with you me and myself and my team we're trying to to figure ways you know how we can break into the us market you know and um you know you know i guess we just have to continue to do what we're doing you know continue to to create music continue to to to do it to the best of our abilities. You know, I'm learning to try and fuse, you know, the kind of music that I do with maybe the sounds that, you know, the U.S. market are more used to. And hopefully that will kind of open the minds of people, the eyes and the hearts of people towards our music.
Starting point is 01:17:02 I feel like Caribbean music has such an influence here, though. You know, I feel like there's so many artists that take from it, too. And so it's a hard thing because, you know, first of all, the reason why with Angela Uday, I always feature reggae, dancehall, we do a soca, because I want more people to know these artists. To know, yeah. And, you know, you're one of those artists too because first of all I feel like the love and positivity that you have in your music is something that
Starting point is 01:17:30 makes us feel so good right now and we need yeah yeah yeah especially at a time like no you know with this one pandemic we don't know how long it will last and I feel like people need you know you know to hear more positive messages and positive vibes in their life. That is what I've been doing from day one, ever since I came in. That is not trying to be cool with doing positive music. It is a part of me. It's what I really and truly want to do and it is what makes me feel good whenever I go out there and I do something positive whether through record or on stage or just through my personal life and what I do
Starting point is 01:18:09 whenever I do things like those and I see people are being uplifted and people feel good people say it's life changing that is a big motivation for me it's something I will continue to do
Starting point is 01:18:24 but I just say especially in a time time that I know is when we need, you know, positive vibe, positive music, positive energy, you know, can uplift the minds of people, you know, out of, you know, the state that they're in right now. Now, let me ask you, Yee, I'm looking forward to seeing you perform for Angel Yee Day. How can people watch this? Is it on the Power site? Is it your site? Starting point is 01:21:20 And one story that she recently told Was that the song Goodies Was almost a song that was for Britney Spears Here's what she said When we went to J told was that the song goodies was almost a song that was her Britney Spears here's what she said when we went to jive I had this song goodies but not knowing that behind the scenes there was a conversation about this song being potentially taken from me and given to an artist like Britney Spears who was on the same roster as me and I learned about the story later but the crazy thing for me is that if I would have known about it then I would have fought tooth and nails
Starting point is 01:21:46 because it's a record that I actually was a part of creating. I was heavily involved in the writing side of it as well. Thank God Britney Spears did not get that record. That record needed some soul. Thank God we did not have to see Britney Spears dancing in the goodies video. Jesus. Yeah, it did. That's crazy.
Starting point is 01:22:03 Imagine that, man. That's such a great song for Ciara. That was her song. Everything around that song just says Ciara. I can't see anybody else doing that song. But that's why, you know, what God has planned for you is for you. That record wasn't for Britney Spears. I mean, it sounds good to say somebody had the idea like, yo,
Starting point is 01:22:18 let's give that to Britney. But no, it went to who it was supposed to go to. All right. Lil Wayne has no ceilings. Mixtape is now available on streaming services. Now, this new version has 12 tracks. The original had 21 and the mixtape

Starting point is 01:28:22 a great way for us to kick off our vacation next week. Absolutely. All right. Well, when we come back, we got the positive note. Don't move. It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 01:28:31 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Now it's time to get up out of here. We're taking a week off. Next week is my birthday. I'm taking a week off. We all will be off for a week.
Starting point is 01:28:43 And also, next weekend for Labor Day, I'm doing this new app called Zap Life. And I'm doing my own channel where I'm going to be DJing. And what we're doing is we're giving back to the DJs again. You know, last, I think a month ago, we did a charity for the DJs. Raised over $100,000 and a bunch
Starting point is 01:29:00 of DJs got money to help with rent, to help with their kids' food or formula or schooling or car notes, whatever it was, and we're going to do it again next weekend. So for 24 hours straight, we're going to be DJing, trying to raise money for all the DJs out there. So we'll kick that off next
Starting point is 01:29:16 week. That's very dope and very honorable what Envy is doing, but I also want to reiterate what Envy said. We are on vacation next week. Labor Day, going into Labor Day said. We are on vacation next week. Next week is Labor Day. Going into Labor Day. So we're on vacation all next week. The reason we're on vacation is because, you know, we negotiate those things in our contracts.
Starting point is 01:29:33 Okay? So we're all gone next week. Always remember that, people. You can get vacation time if you negotiate it in your contract. All right? Just want to throw that out there. All right. Well, leave us on a positive note.
Starting point is 01:29:46 Listen, the positive note is this, man. The relationship you have with yourself is the most complicated because you can't walk away from you. You have to forgive every mistake. You have to deal with every flaw. You have to find a way to love you even when you're disgusted with you.

Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat.
