Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, I'm Kate Max. You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast, Post Run High, is all about. It's a chance to sit down with my guests and dive even deeper into their stories, their journeys, and the thoughts that arise once we've hit the pavement together. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Hey y'all, Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Executive produced by Questlove, The Story Pirates, and John Glickman, Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. The tip of the cap, there's another one gone. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was Claudette Colvin. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, my undeadly darlings. It's Teresa, your resident ghost host. And do I have a treat for you. Haunting is crawling out from the shadows, and it's going to be devilishly good. Starting point is 00:02:38 I stay in everybody's business, but in a good way. Charlamagne Tha God. The ruler of rubbing you the wrong way. The breakfast club. Made for everybody. Good morning, USA! Hey, man. How y'all feeling out there? Bless black and highly favored. Absolutely. You know, yesterday in the East Coast on New York City, New Jersey, it was beautiful.
Starting point is 00:03:30 It was about 67 degrees, and I rode the bike for the first time this season. It felt pretty good, man. Yeah, you had all that pink on. I did like a little 10, 11 miles yesterday just to get back into it. You had all that pink on yesterday. You was feeling sexy. You put on your little biker shorts, put that little gel on your butt and you was out, huh? No gel on my butt, but
Starting point is 00:03:48 yes, I did have the gel pants on and thank God because that 11 miles was tough in New Jersey, boy. I ain't gonna front, but getting back into it, getting back into it. So excited about the season to get my ass back in shape. What you got? Yesterday, I came home after working all day and I was watching
Starting point is 00:04:04 the news and I was watching everybody talking about all the people who were killed in Boulder, Colorado. Then I was listening to Jay Electronica's All Praises, Do Do I Lie, and I was bawling, crying last night. It was sad. I felt drained and exhausted today. Great album. That's one of my favorite songs to zone out to when I think about, in particular, Jazz Fly, Sleuthy Jasmine, Jasmine Waters, Rest in Peace to Jazz. That's one of my favorite songs.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Yeah, that whole song is about his mother passing and the people you lost and seeing their phone numbers in your phone that you know you'll never talk to them again. When I tell you, and it wasn't even on purpose, I was watching that and then that song came on on my playlist. And I was like, Lord. And I was like, let me just take a moment. Yeah, that's a rough feeling when you have somebody that was close to you, and sometimes you're still out of habit, go to the phone to text them or something, and you're like, oh. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:04:58 Rough feeling. I heard they recorded that song the night Kobe passed away. Yeah, that's when Jay-Z wrote his verse. And for Jay Electronica, that was for when his mom passed away. Okay. Wow. Alright, well let's get the show cracking. Timbaland and Swizz Beatz will be joining us today.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Today marks the one year anniversary I guess of the creation of Versus. No, today marks the one year anniversary of when Tim and Swizz went on Instagram Live to battle each other. Yeah, that was the creation of Versus. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, that wasn't the creation of Versus.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Well, that's when they created Versus. That's when Versus was created. That's why they're coming today. When it's born. No, it's not. Yes, it is. No, because they did this before. They did this in the studio.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Tim and Swizz did. They did this on the Summer Jam stage. But this is when the concept came around for the pandemic to do it online. Oh, okay. That's why they're here today. Yeah, the one-year anniversary of Versus. Yeah, so we'll be talking to Swizz and Timbaland a little bit. And we got front-page news. What are we talking about?
Starting point is 00:05:50 Well, just what I was saying. We're going to give you some updates on what happened in Boulder, Colorado, when a gunman opened fire and they have taken him into custody and charged him. All right, we'll get into that next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Good morning. DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne
Starting point is 00:06:05 the guy. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get into some front page news. Where we starting, Yee? Well, we were discussing this really unfortunate situation that happened in Boulder, Colorado. A terrorist came in and shot and killed 10 people, including a police officer
Starting point is 00:06:21 at a King Soopers grocery store. The victims did range in ages from 20 to 65 years old. The shooting was reported at about 2.40 p.m. local time. The suspect, 21-year-old Ahmad Al-Aliwi Alisa of Arvada, Colorado, suffered a leg
Starting point is 00:06:38 wound. He was taken into custody and he has been charged with 10 counts of murder. He's expected to be taken to jail after his release from the hospital, according to the district attorney in Boulder. So they said that, you know, it's numb, it's heartbreaking. I told you I was watching yesterday on the news and it was just a whole lot of information about the people who were killed in this unfortunate incident. It's really sad to look at that. And if you can see, he was
Starting point is 00:07:07 21 years old. They said he purchased the assault weapon less than a week earlier. And right now they're discussing just making sure that with gun control, you shouldn't have access to these types of weapons and assault weapons ban. Should you be able to go to the store
Starting point is 00:07:25 and buy an AR-15? I say no. I've always said no. And I also have a problem with you being able to purchase a weapon at a certain age and there's no mental check. I mean, as long as you're 21, you don't have a record, they can give you a gun. That just doesn't seem right.
Starting point is 00:07:42 You don't know how somebody is mentally. You don't know what they're going through. I don't know how they can fix that system, but you just don't want to give you a gun that just doesn't seem right you don't know how somebody is mentally you don't know what they're going through i don't know how they can fix that system but you just don't want to give somebody a gun that that had a bad week and there's 21 that could just go buy ar-15 like it it seems like there should be some type of protocol right so now they are considering legislation and you know people have tried to do this before. Barack Obama has tried to do this as far as as not allowing this to happen. And here's what was said. The weapons he used, the guns, the magazines, the weapons, the modifications that apparently have taken place to those weapons that are involved here. I don't need to wait another minute, let alone an hour to take common sense steps that will save the lives in the future and to urge my colleagues in the house and senate to act america has to cut it out i mean how many times
Starting point is 00:08:32 we're going to sing the same old song this isn't a new problem mass shootings have become part of the american way if they wanted to pass correct the gun laws if they wanted to ban certain weapons they could but for some political reason they don't and considering legislation considering legislation you know you know it's a problem but you're considering a solution if there's common sense steps to fix this then somebody's clearly lacking common sense because they fixed this a long time ago and have it joe biden also said that we can ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines in this country once again i got that done when i was a senator it passed it was law for the longest time and it brought down these mass killings we should do it again duh get it done
Starting point is 00:09:13 you're the president you're the president you got all the power of you're the leader of the free world get it done get it done what's there to talk about and and i was wrong too i thought it would be a white male for sure especially since they didn't release his name at first um but you know all all public locations have to be have to have armed security from now on i don't care what schools grocery stores churches anywhere where there's a mass group of people we need security with the same style weapons that, you know, these mass shooters are using. Because I wonder if that police guard that got killed, I wonder if he was armed at the grocery store. All right.
Starting point is 00:09:53 And I just want to also point out right now, a lot of people are facing heavy past due utility bills because these moratoriums that had been in place for months that barred utilities from turning off the power of their delinquent customers. They're starting to expire in most states. And they said as a result, up to 37 million customers, which is almost a third of all households, soon will have to deal with those overdue past bills. And a lot of times these people are also struggling with lost jobs, lost income. So this is going to be even worse, this crisis, a result of yes, the moratorium from the pandemic. About another month. We will be right back trying to figure out another stimulus package.
Starting point is 00:10:30 All right. Well, that is your front page news. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up right now. Again, the phone line is 800-585-1051. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Wake up. Wake up. The Breakfast Club. Wake up, wake up. Wake your ass up. This is your time to get it off your chest. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whether you're mad or blessed, we want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Hey, it's James from New Jersey. Hey, James from Jersey.
Starting point is 00:11:01 What's up? Get it off your chest. Hey, Envy, man. I got to get off my chest, bro. You got to stop wearing pants. Hey James from Jersey, what's up? Get it off your chest. Hey Envy, man, I gotta get off my chest, bro. You gotta stop wearing pink. You gotta stop letting Charmander call you beige. You stop wearing pink, bro.
Starting point is 00:11:11 What's wrong with wearing pink, man? I'm confident in myself. I'm secure in my masculinity. That's right. If that man wanna be a part of the pink lady gang, let him be a part of the pink lady gang. I'm a grown-ass man with five kids and a wife. I ain't worried about it. He missed out on hosting host and the bachelor. Now he's trying out for the new Grease reboot that they're doing.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Yeah, man. You got to stop looking like a Pink Pine Ranger, bro. Man, forget y'all. I thought you looked cute. See, he thought I looked cute. Hold up that can. Hold that can, Eddie. This is how Envy looks.
Starting point is 00:11:37 That's how he looks yesterday. I can't analyze. This is how Envy looked yesterday. You're okay. Can I say another thing? No. Go ahead. That's how Envy looked yesterday. Can I say something? Can I say another thing? No. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:11:50 So my man, he had to bury his mom and whatnot. And he had to use like five different credit cards or not. So I want to shout his cash app out. You know, I want to bless him. Shout his cash app out so people can bless him. If they got it. It's what? If they got it.
Starting point is 00:12:03 If they got it, I want to, you know. Oh, if they got it. I thought you were, I want to, you know. Oh, if they got it. I thought you were shouting out the cash app. No, no, no. The cash app is Dynasty 816. Okay. All right, brother. Hello, who's this? This is Steve from Detroit.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Hey, Steve. What up, though? Oh, man. Hard day. Hard week. What's the matter, man? Talk to us. Well, I got two.
Starting point is 00:12:24 I'm sorry. I got two careers. I'm a CNC machinist and I do architectural drafting. In one field I'm surrounded by white folks who treat me very badly. In another field I'm surrounded by black folks that don't want to work unfortunately
Starting point is 00:12:41 and they're trying to find out the easiest way to do it. i have no idea what to do because i keep bouncing back and forth between my career so i can find some type of peace when i'm working because i'm working with the brothers i'm working too hard they want me to slow down when i'm working with the whites they look at me like like i i don't know like i'm some aboriginal like i'm you know what doing? You know, trying to be like us or something like that. I have no idea what to do except for going to business for myself. And that's about where I'm at right now.
Starting point is 00:13:12 That might be about that time to start your own business. That's right. Yeah. I'm not really business savvy as far as that goes, but I feel like this is my only alternative. You can learn, King. Yeah, you can do it, man. I think that's the mentality we
Starting point is 00:13:29 gotta change. We can do it. What do you do? I draw. I do auto-cad drafting. I do architectural drafting. I've done some stuff on the side as far as houses and working for different businesses. I have a business plan in place, but I just gotta get my mind right
Starting point is 00:13:45 so I can put everything together. You got this, brother. You can do it. I got faith in you. I know you can do it, brother. And it's very necessary in Detroit right now with so many people doing work on homes and businesses. So I feel like it's the time.
Starting point is 00:13:57 A lot of great businesses start out of necessity. Yes, this is true. But while our sisters can get together and put their plans together with one another, it's hard for me to get my brothers to help out. Like he says, I mean, in Detroit, it's open market for housing and renovations and things of that nature, but nobody wants to, everybody want to do other stuff. Sometimes you got to do it on your own, and they'll come right after.
Starting point is 00:14:20 It happens to us all the time. Nobody believes, and then as soon as the stars pop and they start running. But you got this, bro. I got faith in you man have you met anybody that you that you've worked with that is reliable like one person two people anybody i i i i try to do things with my brothers and honestly not my brothers so now i have some some white counterparts that that have some ideas and stuff like that but i'm really trying to do things all black for this time, you know? I've done some things in the past and got burnt, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:49 whenever I haven't been the lead in it, you know? Okay. So I want to be the lead in it. All right, brother. But I appreciate y'all, man. I am going to do it. Because I don't have any choice. All right, brother.
Starting point is 00:15:02 All right, make it happen. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It All right, brother. All right. Make it happen. Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. If you need to vent, hit us up now. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. This is your time to get it off your chest, whether you're mad or blessed.
Starting point is 00:15:18 You better have the same energy. We want to hear from you on The Breakfast Club. Hello, who's this? Ace Poetic. I got a proposition for y'all. Hello, who's this? Ace Poetic. I got a proposition for y'all. Oh, boy. Nope.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Hear me out. Y'all had a talk about two weeks ago about Lena Waithe starting a record label. Yep. Yeah. She with Def Jam. She felt like storytelling went hand-in-hand with music. You know what I'm saying? And I'm one of the best storytellers out here right now. Go ahead, man.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Spit something. I know that's what you want. Go. Can we make this what you want. Go. Can we make this proposition deal first? No. No? Don't y'all want to help a rapper make it? No.
Starting point is 00:15:53 We never even heard you yet. Let's hear something. You know what I'm saying? If I spit something and y'all both like it. Go ahead. Let's hear it. You're talking too much. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:16:02 It's the girl that's out there who is struggling to eat. She lost her baby daddy. He was spitting to the street. Her baby keep on crying while she trying to find some peace. Seems the only thing for her to do is just to leave. Because you know that daycare costs pretty cheap. The type of money she can't make alone with no degree. She has no job experience and don't know where to speak.
Starting point is 00:16:23 Not to mention baby girl was only 17. She moved back with her mama. Her stepdaddy was sick. Always beat her mama with drinks. He always did. One day she make him baby bottles standing in the kitchen. I'm a pass. I'm not going to put you on the Hollywood. He not bad though. He not bad. He just ain't
Starting point is 00:16:40 got no flow. That flow is like... He got a 90s flow. I literally just woke up. She got the track on, it's called Lost Souls. Lost Souls? Yeah, it's called Lost Souls. It's poetic with a K. Yeah, it seemed like you was inspired by, um, I heard Brenda got a baby,
Starting point is 00:16:56 but Brenda really got a brain. A damn shame. The girl can hardly spell her name. How old are you, brother? You compare me to Tupac, dog. No, he didn't compare you to Tupac. We didn't compare you to Tupac, bro. We just said it sounded like Brenda got a baby. How old are you? That's why people don't like to giveupac, dog. No, he didn't compare you to Tupac. We didn't compare you to Tupac, bro. We just said it sounded like Brenda got a baby. How old are you? That's why people don't like to give a **** an inch.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Because they take them out. Okay? I ain't saying nothing about no Tupac. How old are you, bro? Compare me to Tupac. 31. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:17:17 You're 31 with an old soul, sir. That's right. Good luck, brother. Check it out. Where? On Spotify. Well, you should say that. You should direct people to your music. He did tell us. I, you should say that. You should direct people to your music.
Starting point is 00:17:26 I heard you say the song. You said Lost Soul. I heard you say it with a song. You didn't name it a song. Hello, who's this? Man, what's going on? This is Nick from Michigan, man. Nick, what up?
Starting point is 00:17:36 Get it off your chest. Yeah, I'm calling because the other day I got two reasons. One, I want to send out my condolences to the people of the mass shootings, man. This is crazy. It's a crazy time we're living in. Everybody go buy legal protection and know how to use it. And then secondly,
Starting point is 00:17:55 Trav called the other day talking about D riding. Oh, because you went in on Sean Stone? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. So, so, so it's crazy because I contacted all the most frequent callers,
Starting point is 00:18:13 Mello, Blind Beauty, Trav, sent them my boys' music, my music and things, got good responses from Mello and Blind Beauty. Trav didn't even open the messages. I sent him some encouraging words. I told him, you a decent artist. I was sorry for what he was going through at the time. I sent him my music as well. Like, man, hopefully you listen to this and it gives you some positive vibes.
Starting point is 00:18:44 And for him to hop on here talking about i'm d riding man that ain't that ain't how you move up in the world brother wow damn i'm disappointed i agree with you i'm disappointed in trav if that's true yeah that ain't how you move in the world man and uh basically bro you you want a rap battle against a dude that don't make music. Oh, now we got beef? Trav got beef. Hey, we got beef, and we can take it out back. Why don't y'all just settle it with songs? You do a song, Trav do a song.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Why did that sound crazy? That's what I'm calling today for. Challenge! Yeah, it's a big challenge challenge i'm taking on my white glove it's a challenge so try if you think about it call up here i put a song out you put a song out and let's see what pops i like this now see this the kind of energy i like i like this yeah i'm with it and i'm a positive person it ain't gonna be no negative no no hate it's gonna be my lyrics versus your lyrics. Because Trav could be
Starting point is 00:19:46 a one-hit wonder. We don't know. He could. He could also be a flop. We're going to see. I'm sure Trav is listening. So everybody follow my Instagram. It's MarriedWithChildren with two L's. Also, follow my best friend
Starting point is 00:20:01 Ajax Stack. He's got that song, Charlotte PMS. He still ain't opened it yet. It's in your inbox. All right, brother. It's in your inbox as well. Be smooth, Envy. Beat.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051 if you need to vent. Yee, we got rumors on the way? Yes, and we'll tell you what rapper says that his monthly bills are over $50,000. All right, we'll get into that next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 00:20:31 This is The Rumor Report with Angela Nese. Rumor has it. Rumor, rumor. On The Breakfast Club. Listen up. Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock. All right. Well, Lil Yachty was on Million Dollar's Worth of Game podcast with Wallow and Gilead
Starting point is 00:20:46 of course. Yes. And he was talking about how much his bills are every single month. Listen to this. I know Corona opened a lot of eyes for a lot of artists. A lot of people realize that they have a lot to maintain. You know what I'm saying? Like me personally, this ain't got to do nothing.
Starting point is 00:21:01 I shouldn't even say this, but I got, I pay every monthly. I got a $52,000 in bills monthly. You know what I'm saying? And I have to work. Let's say I got $13 million in the bank, right? If my overhead is $52,000 every month because of my houses and my staff and cars and insurance and all these things I take care of and all these people, that $13,000 will run down because that's just the bills.
Starting point is 00:21:28 First of all, drop on the Clues Bonds for Gilly andilly and wallow million dollars worth of game one of my favorite podcasts um but i don't yadi's absolutely right and i think the key word that he said in that whole situation is staff he's got other people that he's taking care of on top of his bills and everything else so 52 grand sound about right yeah and that's why i always say you know you got to make sure that you have investments that, you know, you don't necessarily have to go out and work
Starting point is 00:21:49 or have to go out and perform or the income that comes in regardless of what happens, no matter whether it is, whether it's stocks, whether it's real estate, whatever it is,
Starting point is 00:21:57 just looking at different ways of getting money just in case for times like this. And he also said something too that was very smart on there. He said, damn, I forgot what he said, too that was very smart on there. He said, damn, I forgot what he said, but I listened to the whole thing. He said you have to be making money while you're sleeping.
Starting point is 00:22:09 There you go, that part. Have just one source of income. And that's another thing I want to say. It is important to be diverse because as we've seen from this pandemic, you could have, even let's just say with real estate and you have these buildings and commercial real estate properties and then people aren't going into work to pay for rent and they're trying to get a break on that.
Starting point is 00:22:28 And they can't, you didn't expect that. So that's why it's important to be diverse and whatever it is, when you have the ability to be able to do that, whether it's, you know, being able to have stocks and have real estate and have businesses in other ways that you have money coming in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:40 And trust me, there's people out there with way more overhead than 52 grand a month. Absolutely. Trust me. So, so Yachty way more overhead than 52 grand a month. Absolutely. Trust me. Absolutely. Yachty kind of in a good place. All right. Now, Bobby Shmurda, let's talk about his five-year parole conditions and things that he has to make sure since being released from his six-year bid that he has to do.
Starting point is 00:22:59 So he was talking to GQ for his first interview after being released, and he said that it was his fans enthusiasm behind bars that inspired him to continue his rap career. But as far as what he has to do right now, you know, he can't even go to a bar and he he can't drink right now at all. So I'm sure he's fine, though, with that, because, of course, you'd much rather have your freedom. Yeah. And I believe that last four, they said six six years and so he can't drink alcohol associate with gangs spend time at bars he also isn't allowed to violate an apm curfew he has to submit to substance abuse testing and he has to get aggression and anger counseling and you know i was on probation for 10 years but it just feels like a trap right like the fact that you already did seven and then you come home and you got to stay on parole till 2026 like was his sentence 15 years i don't remember
Starting point is 00:23:50 him getting sentenced to no 15 years i was on probation for 10 too and it was the same thing there was a lot of different things that you couldn't do but you remember remy martin was the same way remy ma couldn't she couldn't drink she there was a lot of things that she couldn't do now i'm sure he could get excuses to do certain things, like if he has to do a performance at a club or do things like that. I just see he just has to get permission, I'm sure. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:10 And salute to Bobby Smyrna, too, man. Hey, Bobby, that artist lied to you. The Breakfast Club does not pay for interviews. I just want to throw that out there. Now you got to explain it. Wait, what happened?
Starting point is 00:24:19 There's an artist that told Bobby Smyrna he got paid a half a million dollars Play the liar drop, please. to do a Breakfast Club interview. Wait, who said that? Wait, wait, there's more.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Go ahead. Listen to this guy. And that he gets residuals, royalties from the YouTube interview. He was a goddamn liar. Yeah. As a person been on the show. You are a liar and you've always been a liar. He has, twice.
Starting point is 00:24:37 He's a known liar. Go ahead, say his name, baby. Fine. Yeah, Takashi69. Yeah. Allegedly told Bobby Smyrna that we paid him $300,000. I don't know if he told Bobby personally, but that's- Yeah, first of all, I was like, Bobby Smyrna talks to Takashi69. Yeah. Allegedly told Bobby Shmurda that we paid him $300,000. I don't know if he told Bobby personally, but that's...
Starting point is 00:24:46 Yeah, first of all, I was like, Bobby Shmurda talks to Takashi. No, I guess it went around that we paid him $300,000. $500,000. $500,000. Half a ticket.
Starting point is 00:24:55 And every time that the video YouTube gets played, he gets residuals. That's never happened in... That has never happened in the history of my life. That is ridiculous ridiculous i was like i just want to i just want to put out there to everybody who's around bobby schmurda right now
Starting point is 00:25:10 let's make sure he sticks to these rules because they set up this parole supervision in order for you to fail and you don't want that to happen he has until february 23rd 2026 that he has these conditions so everybody around him don't be trying to influence him just make sure y'all make sure he stays on point even if that means y'all ain Just make sure y'all make sure he stays on point. Even if that means y'all ain't going to drink, y'all not going to go to bars either. Just make sure he's good. Yeah, any artist that has ever told you Breakfast Club is paid
Starting point is 00:25:32 to do an interview is a damn liar. One person tried, remember? Who? They wanted a flight and hotel. Who was it? Tell me. But that's not paying you. Judge Joe... Mathis.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Was it Judge Joe Mathis? Joe Brown? First of all, his name is Greg Mathis. One's the judge? Judge Joe Mathis. Was it Judge Joe Mathis? Joe Brown? That's the first time his name is Greg Mathis. One of the judges. By the way, we've never done that either. We never had him. Hey guys, I don't even know if y'all know, we don't even provide breakfast here at the Breakfast Club. There's no breakfast.
Starting point is 00:25:57 First of all, you're lucky if we get you a bottle of water from the vending machine. We just started with the bottle of water before we poured it in the cup. And you gotta be about to be choking and dying for us to be like, hey, just some water. Sorry, I wish we was better. That has to talk. We'll get better. Our show's a mess. Yeah, we'll get better. Alright. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Alright, now let's talk about Nick Cannon. Wildin' Out has set a return date on VH1. So that is gonna be back on Tuesday, April 6th. And now there is a teaser. Y'all ready to get to it? Class is back in session. Tuesday, April 6th. And now there is a teaser. Y'all ready to get to it? Class is back in session. Tuesday, April 6th. Let's get this s*** started.
Starting point is 00:26:29 The battle for the belt continues with all new episodes of Wildin' Out. It's an old school New trap singers, why y'all pants so tight? Versus new school showdown. I'm nothing like my father. I don't want to pull out. I love it.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Drop on the Clues Bonds for Wildin' Out, Nick Cannon. All my guys on that show, 85 South Show, Chico, DC, Carlos. All right. Fat Boy, SSE, Trinidad James, Lost Boys will be on this season. Also, Juvenile, Head Crack, The Brat, MBJ, MC Lyte, Rhapsody. A whole lot of people will be on this season. So get ready for that. Head crack.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Head crack. Head crack. Radio head crack. Yeah, I believe so. So why don't you be on there, too, then? I'm not sure when they did this, but I will say Donnell Rawlings is going to be on this season. And so will Queen. Let's play some cricket.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Donnell Rawlings. There you go. Nice little fart. Jambos, why would you do that? That wasn't me. All right. Anyway, that is your rumor reports. All right.
Starting point is 00:27:32 We got front page news next. What are we talking about? Yeah. And I know, you know, it's not an easy thing to talk about, but let's talk about what happened in Boulder, Colorado. And also, let's talk about these pleas right now that Joe Biden is making for some gun control. And we'll tell you how some people, some have already fired back against that. All right, we'll get to it next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same.
Starting point is 00:28:00 Angela here. And the General Insurance has been helping people save money for nearly 60 years. They offer the quality coverage you deserve at prices you can afford. Consider this. Start your own country.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Why can't I trade my own country? My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Bullets. We need help! We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey guys, I'm Kate Max.
Starting point is 00:29:12 You might know me from my popular online series, The Running Interview Show, where I run with celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs, and more. After those runs, the conversations keep going. That's what my podcast Post Run High is all about. So if you love hearing real inspiring stories from the people, you know, follow and admire join me every week for post run high. It's where we take the conversation beyond the run and get into the heart of it all. It's lighthearted, pretty crazy and very fun. Listen to Post Run High on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 00:30:06 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, y'all? This is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages.
Starting point is 00:30:25 One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip-hop. Each episode is about a different inspiring figure from history, like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama
Starting point is 00:31:06 who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was Claudette Colvin. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. EJ, Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, we are The Breakfast Club. Let's get into some front page news. Where we starting, Yee? Yee? Let's start with Boulder, Colorado, with the 10 people, including a police officer who were killed at a King Soopers grocery store.
Starting point is 00:31:57 Now let's talk about the person that they have in custody, 21-year-old Ahmad Al-Aliwi Alisa of Arvada, Colorado. He suffered a leg wound. He was taken into custody. He has been charged with 10 counts of murder. And according to reports, they are saying that he got that assault weapon six days before the shooting happened.
Starting point is 00:32:19 So that was on March 16th. And they said they didn't know immediately where the gun was purchased. Now, a search of his home found other weapons, according to a senior law enforcement officer. And they believe that he was the only person involved, that there were no other additional threats to the community. So they did describe him as being armed with either an assault rifle or black AR-15 and wearing a tactical or armored vest. They said he also removed all of his clothing and was dressed only in shorts when he was taken into custody. According to reports, his family emigrated from Syria and he may have been suffering from mental illness,
Starting point is 00:32:57 according to his 34 year old brother. According to the brother, he told CNN on Tuesday that in high school, bullies made fun of his name and for being Muslim. And that may have contributed to him becoming antisocial. He said people chose not to mess with him because of his temper. People chose not to really talk to him because of all how he acted and things like that. So he was very alone. And they said he had become increasingly paranoid around 2014, believing he was being followed and chased.
Starting point is 00:33:24 And they said at one point he covered the camera on his computer with duct tape so he could not be seen. And he thought somebody was behind him. Someone was chasing him. So he's dealing with some type of severe mental health issue. Sounds like schizophrenia. I mean, but he still has to deal with the consequences of his actions and go to prison. And I say it all the time. You know, you can have mental health issues, but you got to get those mental health issues taken care of while you're in a facility like jail.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Yeah, well, that's a problem when you're allowed to purchase a handgun or a rifle and they don't check your mental wellness. You know what I mean? Like, there should be some type of test. You turn 21 and now all of a sudden you have all that power. And if you're having problems, if you're having mental illness and you just purchase a gun, there's no telling what you can do. They got to stricken these laws a little bit. There's no way they should be able to give somebody a gun if they have problems and not check that first hand.
Starting point is 00:34:11 All right. Now, Joe Biden, in the meantime, is talking about gun control. This is front and center. Now, here's what he had to say. The weapons he used, the guns, the magazines, the weapons, the modifications that apparently have taken place to those weapons that are involved here. I don't need to wait another minute, let alone an hour, to take common sense steps that will save the lives in the future and to urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to act.
Starting point is 00:34:38 America, cut it out, man. Like, how many times are you going to keep saying the same thing over and over? Mass shootings in America are not a new problem. It's become the American way. If they wanted to ban certain weapons, they could. But for some political reason, they don't. I hate considering legislation. We know there's a problem when there's a problem.
Starting point is 00:34:57 You can't consider a solution. You have to create a solution. Well, the Republicans are not really trying to join in any bipartisan effort right now to address the root causes of gun violence. And here is Republican Senator Ted Cruz from Texas talking about gun violence. And every time there's a shooting, we play this ridiculous theater where this committee gets together and proposes a bunch of laws that would do nothing to stop these murders. Senator Grassley and I together introduced legislation, Grassley-Cruz, targeted at violent criminals, targeted at felons, targeted at fugitives,
Starting point is 00:35:31 targeted at those with serious mental disease, to stop them from getting firearms, to put them in prison when they try to illegally buy guns. See, guys like Ted Cruz don't want to do anything until it comes to their front door you know he's gonna have to you know lose somebody in a mass shooting or experience a mass shooting firsthand for him to totally to really understand the severity of the situation and want to get something done sadly all right well that is your front page news and listen I
Starting point is 00:35:59 know people want to scrape the gun control and we need it you know to keep the guns from guys like you know the dude that did that mass shooting but in a situation like that i do wish it was more people in that grocery store with with a gun you know if civilians you know can arm themselves then they can protect themselves you know and if they can't then armed security should be there somebody should have yeah to be there to take take that guy yeah right but the bad thing about it if he has an ar-15 and it's modified he can release bullets. So they should have armed security there with military-style weapons then. Nobody ever thought about having armed security at a supermarket before.
Starting point is 00:36:36 I was watching that on the news yesterday, and they were like, this is the first time we've ever had to have a discussion. Like, what happens in the supermarket? Are there enough exits? Because no one's anticipating things like this happening and barack obama tweeted out well once in a century pandemic cannot be the only thing that slows mass shootings in this country it's time for leaders everywhere to listen to the american people when they say enough is enough yeah anywhere there's a mass group of people there should be uh armed security with military style weapons like when you all you know when you walk to the airport and you see all them
Starting point is 00:37:05 soldiers with them big assault rifles, hey, man, it's gonna have to be like that at football stadiums. That's a lot. The high school games, college games, the mall. So what? Because I have never thought going to the supermarket, there could potentially be...
Starting point is 00:37:21 You know, I've just never considered that something like that could happen. But at the same time, we're talking about removing, you know, funding for police departments and things like that and moving it into other spaces. Now we're saying we need more. Yes. Not police, but, you know, armed security, especially these public places. All right. Well, that is your front page news.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Now, when we come back, Timberland and Swiss Beats will be joining us. Of course, this is the one year anniversary of Versus, and we'll talk to him when we come back. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Is your country falling apart, feeling tired, depressed, a little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag and just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. Start your own country. I planted the flag. I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There are 55 gallons of water, 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Ladonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Capraburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of
Starting point is 00:38:20 Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial tradition. Why Waikana tribe my country my forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder you know this explosive warhead. Oh my god. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages.
Starting point is 00:40:10 One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it. Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:41:26 You're checking out the world's most dangerous morning show. on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Back, back, back. You're checking out the world's most dangerous morning show. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God. We are The Breakfast Club. We got some special guests in the building celebrating one year of versus. That's crazy. Timbo the King and Swizzy Swiss Beats.
Starting point is 00:41:44 What up, guys? Congratulations, first and foremost. Thank you. Did y'all ever see this vision when y'all first started? I know, Swizz, you were always big on versus. You always wanted to battle everybody, whether it was DJing, artists, stage,
Starting point is 00:42:00 whatever it was. Did y'all ever see this vision as so big, or was it just something for fun? It definitely started for fun. It definitely started for fun. It definitely started for friendly competition. But I always knew that when you bring the creatives together, it was going to be people would like it. You know, when we celebrate each other and when we come together, it's usually big,
Starting point is 00:42:18 especially when you have the right parents and the right curation going on. But did I think it would be this big, this fast? No way. Can you discuss why Versus is a win for everybody involved when it comes to the artists who are quote unquote battling, but it's really just a celebration, but it ends up being a win for everyone. Can you discuss how so people can understand that? We've definitely seen Versus a win for everybody, the artists, the audience. One, the audience get two hours for free
Starting point is 00:42:46 to sit back and get all the things that's going on in the world off their mind. You know, when you look at the news, I call it bad news. But verses pull you away from the negativity and bring you into the celebration. And I think that like a lot of the artists that we've seen on verses,
Starting point is 00:43:02 we've known them for doing big, big things, but we haven't necessarily seen them get the proper garden that they deserve in this day and age, in 2021. And so when we're seeing Brandy's record go from 40 to number one after Versus, that's an amazing Versus effect. When we see Artist Dreams go up 700%, that's an amazing verses effect. When we see artist streams go up 700%, that's an amazing verses effect. When we see artists
Starting point is 00:43:29 get book deals, movie deals, podcast deals, clothing line deals, you name it, it's been an amazing win for the artists. Amazing win. I want y'all to talk, both of y'all, I want y'all to talk to the specifics of the Triller deal.
Starting point is 00:43:45 You know, I saw people were confused when they heard you say that we own Triller. What does that mean? So let's break that down for the people, brother. So the Triller versus was a very, it's a very unique opportunity because, you know, Triller already had creatives as owners in the company. And I thought that was pretty amazing because they always use us to get to the IPO. They always use the talent to go public. But we're never really a part of the public offerings.
Starting point is 00:44:16 And when me and Tim was negotiating our deals, Triller was the only place that we can bring all our friends with us. And that was a very big point for us. And, you know, a lot of times when people mention the word culture, our culture feels like you can't do business if you're in the culture. It's like you can't do business, right? It's like just because you say culture, you can't do business. Or they felt like you did something wrong or this, that, and the third.
Starting point is 00:44:43 I feel that our culture needed to do more business. And Triller's allowing us to do more business. Like we got to bring 43, not just friends, but greats with us to participate, which probably is going to be the biggest creative IPO public offering in history, period. But, you know, that's not really like something that you could explain on an Instagram or on a tweet. That's something that me and Tim, we got something coming that's going to show everybody all the different steps that it took and that it takes to elevate and still be the culture and still be owners and different things like that.
Starting point is 00:45:20 And y'all have equity in Triller now. Yes. And all the artists have equity in Triller now. Yes. And all those artists have equity in Triller. Major. So if Triller sells tomorrow for a billion dollars, all of those artists get a percentage of that sale. Well, Triller's already worth a bill. It's already worth it.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Triller's already worth in the Bs already, so that's already a plus for everybody. But when you go public, the multiples happen and, you know, yes, everybody gets paid from that, which is serious, man. That doesn't happen for us.
Starting point is 00:45:54 Not like this. Yeah, I would think people would understand it a little bit better, especially after watching what Hov just did with Tidal and watching all the, you know, 16 artists that were with Hov in the beginning get broken off from that sale, I would think people would understand it. I think that, like, Charlamagne, when I see
Starting point is 00:46:12 your show, it's like, you know, it's levels to certain things that our culture don't really understand, and that's finance. That's why you just broke and lose money. You got envy doing with the real estate. You know, it takes time to teach our culture about the next level of life and find freedom so this is a process that you know they're
Starting point is 00:46:32 gonna throw stones at us first so we understand that somebody got to be the teacher and the leader and and show up like this is what you do going forward when you get momentum and success you bring other people to help you along the way and this is how you do it now let's go back you know so this is one year anniversary so now swizz you called timbo and said let's battle on versus so how was that call let's set the stage for that first call we just got locked down in pandemic everybody's at the home let's let's let's talk about that phone call right there and how it started well it started with tim taunting me on instagram with beats and i knew where he was going because i'm like yo why is he playing all these tracks on instagram and saying so what's what we
Starting point is 00:47:16 doing what we doing so i kind of got the bat signal so then i took to the so then i called him i was like oh this is what we're doing? He was like, yeah, what's up? I was like, oh, so we're going to go-go? He was like, what's up? Let's just do it. And then, you know, an hour later, no flyer, no announcement. We was live. And Versus was being started from his basement and from my car.
Starting point is 00:47:43 And who was the first artist that you called after that battle? Who was the first one to set it off and said, let's set it off with the flag? Because I can't even remember. It's been so many. I can't remember who the first one was. It was Hip Boy and Boy Wonder. Shout out to those brothers. Super talented. You guys did break format when you did the
Starting point is 00:47:59 D'Angelo one that was at the Apollo. So can you talk to us about what happened behind the scenes for D'Angelo to even go down? Because that was a surprising one. And I'm sure there was a different plan. Yeah. And was it supposed to be D'Angelo versus Maxwell?
Starting point is 00:48:14 Because that's what everybody was saying. D'Angelo versus Maxwell was supposed to be that night. They thought it was going to be a secret Maxwell pop-up and they were going to have to go at it. Was that supposed to be it? Yes. Last night on Clubhouse, DJ Strat explained the whole behind the scenes of what happened. Yeah, that was supposed to be it, and it's supposed to have been on Valentine's Day, too.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Wow. So why didn't it go down? You're not going to tell us what happened? For those people not on Clubhouse. No, no. I think what people don't understand with Diversus is like me and Tim only have so much control over the artist. We don't have no control over the artist
Starting point is 00:48:54 actually. The timing, I guess, didn't work out at the end and something just didn't work out. But you know what I respect with D'Angelo is that he kept his spirits high and he kept going. We couldn't do it on that day because that was everything changed. And that was a lot of behind the scenes happening that day.
Starting point is 00:49:15 Not only with Maxwell, but with a bunch of other artists. Because remember it said D'Angelo and friends, right? But, you know, D'Angelo was just like, you know what? I'm D'Angelo and the people haven't seen me in a long time. So I'm still do what I do best. And I respected that because a lot of people would would have checked out, you know, because it wasn't it wasn't as as planned. But he just went with how he felt. And shout out to D'Angelo, man. Super, super icon.
Starting point is 00:49:43 We got more with Swiss Beats and Timbaland. When we come back, don't move. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Timbaland and Swiss Beats.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Charlamagne? I want to go back to the business for a second. Why was it important for you brothers to give the participants in the versus battles shares in versus? It's just the right thing to do. It's just something that's never been done. And we already started a platform that was built in, in real time in front of people's face. And we saw the comments,
Starting point is 00:50:16 uh, this only, this is going to be over after the pandemic. So, you know, we had to deal with a lot of that. And, um,
Starting point is 00:50:23 people still showed up to the party when we called because it was just me and Swiss calling people. And those people were gracious and saw the vision and came up on that stage. And we was like, it's only right. You know, when you really think about it, man, people was risking their lives to come and do those verses with us. You know, in the pandemic, flying, whatever to to make the people happy and like you know for me and tim to be the only ones you know to have a success with it i just it just felt whack you know it didn't it literally i literally couldn't sleep no we couldn't because it was a real thing it was just like yo some don't feel right and that was the missing piece it was like
Starting point is 00:51:03 you know the universe was saying man y'all got to bring everybody which i that started this thing and you know it was it wasn't an easy thing to do because companies are not used to compensating that many people although me and tim did it from our own shares and the reason why we did it from our own shares was because we didn't want we didn't want our friends to have any obligations they don't have to tweet they don't have to show up to work again like i wanted i wanted us to give the the creatives a real gift because people always give you something you got 50 things to do to receive it no they can they don't have to do anything they can sit back and chill out until until we go public. And that was something special for me
Starting point is 00:51:46 and Tim. I'm sure you guys were also entertaining other deals because I have to imagine that so many people approached you about Versus. So what were some of the other things that you could have done and what made Trilla the best situation? I know Apple offered a bag. Tim like me to answer all these questions. Tim,
Starting point is 00:52:01 go ahead, baby. Yeah, I mean, yeah, but you you know, sometimes you got to, like, what's the bigger thing to do? So we kind of, like, just weighed it out and just put it in God's hand, you know what I'm saying? Because you could get a bag, but then what does that mean? You know what I'm saying? You want to get the bag and the other stuff to go with it for long term.
Starting point is 00:52:23 We wasn't thinking short term. We was thinking long term. I wasn't thinking short term. I was thinking long term. With Triller, it just felt like our next transition of where we wanted to go. It just felt like we can do other things there that we had in mind, like what we did with the artists. I don't know if we would have been able to do that anywhere else. Apple was already a $2 trillion company,
Starting point is 00:52:42 definitely not going for another IPO. So it wasn't really, we didn't really have the strategies Apple was already a $2 trillion company, definitely not going for another IPO, right? So it wasn't really, we didn't really have the strategies with the other companies that was on the table to bring everybody with us. It was, we was getting stopped. Like, it was like, okay, you and Tim, y'all can be straight, straight, straight,
Starting point is 00:52:58 but how's the other things going to work? And we just went with the energy. Now, what artists fell through? What artists that y'all thought things going to work? We just went with the energy. Now, what artists fell through? What artists that y'all thought were going to do it and then something fell through? Like, I know Busta Rhymes was supposed to be one of those artists that we didn't see. I know T.I. was one of those artists we didn't see. What artists fell through that was like, damn, we could have happened, but the stars didn't align? I think for me, the biggest one, when Dr. dre wasn't feeling the sound from teddy riley and
Starting point is 00:53:27 babyface that hurt our heart i was like oh my god like if you go back dr dre was at the teddy rally one he came at the end but he was supposed to come at the end and announce that he's going to do versus that night. Really? And I saw him on the phone one night with somebody. Who was he on the phone with? He was, I seen him on the phone with FaceTime. He was on the phone with, phone with Breon,
Starting point is 00:53:53 but he was, wasn't he actually at the, he was at the Teddy rally one, the last one. So he was going to announce he was next. And who was he battling? Was he battling puff? I think,
Starting point is 00:54:02 I don't think he was going to announce who he was battling. I think he was going to announce like, yo, I'm ready. I to announce like yo i'm ready i'm coming just be ready i'm coming hit them with something then he got on the phone he was like man i can't be a part of nothing that looked like sound like that my legacy is quality my legacy is this that i was just like, oh, we just lost Dre over that. What? Like, it just felt, that was, that one felt pretty crazy, but since then, the energy's been very good. Okay. Now, Teddy Riley, I see Teddy
Starting point is 00:54:34 Riley, he circled rematch. So, is Teddy Riley, he's back on it, he's like, F that, I need to, I need to, I need to get back? Of course, Teddy wants to get back. I enjoyed the Teddy Riley baby face one. I did too. The most memes came out of that.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Me too. One of my favorite ones. It keeps on giving. Is Teddy going back at baby face or is Teddy one of all contenders? Man, I think the way that the spirit that Teddy's in, he want to do a repeat and then he want whoever's next. Y'all better make sure
Starting point is 00:55:06 it's clear and it's right and everything is good I can see why Teddy feels like that though cause like Teddy Riley ain't no m****** meme man that's Teddy Riley man god damn right like I don't think he got the flowers
Starting point is 00:55:22 he supposed to get man that's Teddy Riley man nah you know how I knew it was serious? Last night when we did the birthday party, he said I didn't even play no diggity. I was like, damn. He said, I got a whole number 20 I didn't get to get to. Then he was like, for instance, I didn't play no diggity. I was like, damn. But, you know, we're going to see what that rematch night is like, you know?
Starting point is 00:55:48 You know, it bothers me too, man, when I see people like yourselves, people like Hov, who have contributed so much to the culture for decades, literally decades, and y'all getting called sellouts for making power moves. Absolutely. What were your initial thoughts when you saw that reaction from people? Because, Swizz, I know you resort back to rough rider s*** sometimes. Swizz be a hothead sometimes.
Starting point is 00:56:10 I'm surprised Swizz ain't going. I'm surprised Swizz ain't going. Let's do it to that rough rider mode real quick. You know what I realized? I realized that we actually have to have patience with our people. A lot of people revert to negativity when they don't understand something.
Starting point is 00:56:30 You know, they don't know. A lot of people don't know how to say, man, I don't understand this or I don't really know this. So the easiest thing to do is to go to some that that's ignorant sometimes or that's uneducational. Because a lot of people just read the headlines. You know, most people didn't read what came after that. sometimes or that's uneducational because a lot of people just read the headlines you know like most people didn't read what came after that and you can tell but i can say that the love outweighed the ignorance by far by far by far it's just that the hate sometimes or the or the uneducated or the it just feels a little louder sometimes because that's like what you kind of looking for.
Starting point is 00:57:06 But when you really weigh out the good, it's way, way, way more. So my thing was like, you know what? I'm going to just focus on the positivity, you know, because those are the same people saying, damn, why y'all ain't do that? Like, what made y'all not do that? You know, so we have to lead by example. And me and Tim never sold out of anything but shows, beats, and greatness. And these are the people who tell us, Tim, Swizz, you got to fix the Wi-Fi. Fix it. Fix it.
Starting point is 00:57:36 The app is over. Thank you. We love you for this. We needed this. So, you know. All right, well, don't move. We got more with Swizzy and Timbo when When we come back, it's the Breakfast Club. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:57:46 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. We're still kicking it with Swizz and Timbo. This is the one-year anniversary of Versus. Charlamagne? You know, how was the energy before the Gucci and Jeezy battle? Because that could have went left and ruined the whole Versus brand.
Starting point is 00:58:04 Which one of y'all were there? I know one of y the whole versus brand. Which one of y'all were there? Which one of y'all were there? Were y'all there? Nope. On purpose? I just think they already had a conversation before and I feel like they both was in great spaces but there's some things that need to be aired out.
Starting point is 00:58:21 We just know how it was going to be aired out. It turned out perfect. Y'all had to be nervous a little bit. We just know how it was going to be aired out. And it turned out perfect. Y'all had to be nervous a little bit. Hell yeah. The phone calls I was getting, man. Y'all got to cancel it. I'm telling you, you're about to kill the brand. You got to cancel it.
Starting point is 00:58:35 You got to cancel it. But they didn't, you know, a lot of the people that I was calling, they didn't know that, you know, we was letting these guys have conversations as men. And one thing that was always clear was we're going to get on this stage and we're going to keep it real. Can't get on this stage and act like we buddies and we're not there yet. So it was almost like everybody was getting everything off their chest so they could move forward as men.
Starting point is 00:59:02 And I think that that was super, super, super commendable because what they showed this generation was that, you know, no matter what, you can come back around and shake hands like a man and move forward with your life. For me, that was my favorite verses because of the message, because everybody showed up for them to take each other's head off. And then they ended up doing a song together at the end and showing peace and unity and I didn't really like that it didn't real ring bells in the media like that because how one person swung off on somebody, it would have been everywhere. But being that it was it was positive I didn't I didn't see a lot of the celebration for that. That was like serving a Nobel Peace Prize.
Starting point is 00:59:45 Like, that don't happen, you know? That was the biggest line of the night to me when Gucci said, thank you for extending the olive branch, and I accept it. I'm like, damn, that should have been the headline. Yeah. But y'all made the headline.
Starting point is 00:59:59 That's what's good enough. It feels like behind the scenes is a whole other show for Versus. Absolutely. Absolutely. So we're going to let the announcement and stuff come out proper because they deserve it. We've been planning a lot
Starting point is 01:00:16 of different things. I feel like we're just starting. If you think about it, none of the people on Versus went twice yet. Almost 90% of the artists can go with other people and give you a whole nother different type of show you know it's just like and w and wrestling the way like you can have different uh people go with different people we have so many things coming before we even get to that you know like
Starting point is 01:00:42 we we didn't even get to our calypso versus we didn't get to uh africa versus we didn even get to that. You know, like, we didn't even get to our Calypso verses. We didn't get to our Africa verses. We didn't get to so many different... Reggaeton. We didn't even get to the Latin world yet. And we have all of those things lined up. Pretty amazing. But it's just like, why rush it when there's verses that we know
Starting point is 01:01:02 that we got to take off the runway first. Yeah, we've seen a couple of rough riders in the mix. We've seen X, we've seen Kiss. Tim, when is people from your team going to be in the mix, man? Missy! Missy, Justin Timberlake. When that's going to happen? Missy Busta
Starting point is 01:01:19 got to happen. Video-wise, too. I've been working on that. I've been working on... Look, they both going to come to the stage. Trust me. I got it. Well, let me ask you thiswise, too. I've been working on that. Look, they both gonna come to the stage. Trust me. Well, let me ask you this question, Tim. Because this has been some of the stuff that's been floating around. Usher versus Justin Timberlake. Who you got?
Starting point is 01:01:36 Ooh. I gotta go with my boy, man. No way, Tim. And listen, you and JT make great records. JT and Pharrell make great records. He can't touch Usher catalog. He got some bullets. We got some silver bullets, too.
Starting point is 01:01:51 But I'm going to ride with him. I'm going to ride with him. I'm going to ride with my boy. JT, Jermaine Dupri, don't let Timberland talk that trash, Jermaine Dupri. But you don't really believe it, though, Tim. You don't really believe it. Huh? You don't really believe it.
Starting point is 01:02:02 I believe it. It's a hard one. It's a hard one. It's a hard one, but I guess I know it's all about the curation, baby. Because you play the wrong song, I come back with a banger. JD! Jermaine Dupree get us on the phone! I was saying it's three catalogs
Starting point is 01:02:18 that are virtually untouchable. JD and Tim, that's what you might want to call it. Because JD gonna set the playlist, I'm going to set the playlist. I know when he do a false move, you know, that can change the night. Because I seen you do that, child, man. You be like, why you play that song? Why you play that song?
Starting point is 01:02:33 Yeah. I be like. It's three catalogs I think is untouchable. Three. Who? What three? I think Usher got a pretty untouchable catalog. Me too.
Starting point is 01:02:41 The Queen. Mary J. Blige got an untouchable catalog. And Hov got an untouchable catalog. Yes., Mary J. Blige got an untouchable catalog, and Hov got an untouchable catalog. Yes, those three. Maybe Beyonce, too. Hold on. First of all, ain't nobody catalog like Chris Brown. What? Chris Brown has
Starting point is 01:02:57 a great catalog. Chris has a great catalog. First of all, like Chris Brown said, he has 20 strong. Come on now. But against who,, like Chris Brown said, he has 20 strong. He has 20 strong. Come on now. No, he does, but against two, though. Don't do that.
Starting point is 01:03:09 Like Chris Brown against Usher. Nah, Usher wins that. No, he can't do that because Chris Brown got too much. He got too much. His bag, he got like 50 bags, bro. But Usher got 20 nuclear weapons. Like 20 weapons of mass destruction, Tim. Okay, no.
Starting point is 01:03:26 Chris Brown has 50 nuclear weapons. got weapons but not nukes Chris don't let him talk to you like that Chris Chris you come on down Chris alright Missy vs Buster but again like Timberland said it also is the curation of what goes against what too yeah that's what it really is now look Missy
Starting point is 01:03:43 I'm gonna get her I that that's the perfect match. She just has a fear of going against her brother. But I'm working on that. It's a celebration. It's a celebration. And I think that it should be videos too because they both had – they should celebrate their videos. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:03:58 Because Missy always loved Busta videos. I'm sure she told Busta because they're like brothers and sisters. But I don't know if they never told each other to the people on face-to-face because the conversation behind the scenes that Missy and Busty have about their videos, I feel like they planned them together, to be honest with you. And I felt like that's a conversation
Starting point is 01:04:15 the world needs to hear because those two are amazing, and that would be the party of all parties, Missy and Busty. But I think if the people want that, the people need to campaign that and let them know that that's what they want as well. But Missy got a pass.
Starting point is 01:04:32 I don't care what she do. You know what I'm saying? She's just super talented and creative. You know, she can pick whoever she wants. I'm going to be like, all right, that's what you want to do, baby. Let's go. I think that was a perfect one. I've been saying from the beginning, I need to see Missy Elliott on there. I would be really hyped for that.
Starting point is 01:04:49 I'll be there early. Missy can't use the brother excuse with Busta either, because y'all just had Ghost and Ray, and y'all got Red and Meff coming up. That's true. So that brother excuse is not a good excuse anymore, Missy. Thank you. I'm glad. Look, I'm going to use this and repeat it back to her.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Now, what about LL Cool J? LL Cool J, that would be a great one, too, because he has hits in different eras of hip-hop. But just who battles him? Who goes against LL? I would love to see LL, and I'd love to see Nas. I would love to see them two, but not together, but both of them on Versus. I think everybody's going to be okay. So there's going to be no problem getting Versus off in a post-pandemic
Starting point is 01:05:29 world, clearly. Versus is in our DNA now. I look at it like how we used to look at Soul Train. We couldn't wait for Soul Train to come on on Saturdays and see what artists are performing. I feel like it's a place of love and healing. I feel like healing will always be around love and healing. And I feel like healing
Starting point is 01:05:45 will always be around to the test of time. Well, we appreciate you guys for checking in and congratulations. One year anniversary of Versus. And I can't wait to this vaccine start circulating because Versus has a live event. Oh my goodness. Yeah, we can't wait. Happy
Starting point is 01:06:01 belated birthday, Tim. I saw you got that ASR 10. That's right. Happy belated, too. You having some fun? You having some fun with that already? I know I'm waiting for my guy. I don't want to mess it up, so I want to make sure he give me all the right parts.
Starting point is 01:06:14 I actually going to use it. I'm waiting to use it again when I start back up, finishing up Justin's album, his new album. Okay. So when that album is done, he'll be ready for the Versus vs. Usher. That'll be the start of his single, And I can't wait for it, man. Hey, speaking of two assistants.
Starting point is 01:06:33 All right, here we go. Is Justin dropping this year, Tim? If I can help it, yeah. Okay. All right. Well, it's Timberland and Swiss Beats. It's The Breakfast Club. Thank you, fellas. Peace. Thank you. Is your country falling apart? Feeling tired? Depressed? A little bit revolutionary? Consider this. Start your own country. I planted the flag.
Starting point is 01:06:52 I just kind of looked out of like, this is mine. I own this. It's surprisingly easy. There's 55 gallons of water for 500 pounds of concrete. Everybody's doing it. I am King Ernest Emmanuel. I am the Queen of Laudonia. I'm Jackson I, King of Kaperburg. I am the Supreme Leader of the Grand Republic of Mentonia. Be part of a great colonial
Starting point is 01:07:09 tradition. The Waikana tribe own country. My forefathers did that themselves. What could go wrong? No country willingly gives up their territory. I was making a rocket with a black powder, you know, with explosive warhead. Oh my God. What is that? Bullets. Bullets. We need help! We still have the off-road portion to go. Listen to Escape from Zakistan. And we're losing daylight fast.
Starting point is 01:07:42 That's Escape from Z-A-Q-istan on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 01:08:44 So y'all? This is Questlove, and I'm here to tell you about a new podcast I've been working on with the Story Pirates and John Glickman called Historical Records. It's a family-friendly podcast. Yeah, you heard that right. A podcast for all ages. One you can listen to and enjoy with your kids starting on September 27th. I'm going to toss it over to the host of Historical Records, Nimany, to tell you all about it.
Starting point is 01:09:07 Make sure you check it out. Hey, y'all. Nimany here. I'm the host of a brand new history podcast for kids and families called Historical Records. Historical Records brings history to life through hip hop. Flash, slam, another one gone. Bash, bam, another one gone. The crack of the bat and another one gone. to life through hip-hop.
Starting point is 01:09:33 Each episode is about a different, inspiring figure from history, like this one about Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl in Alabama who refused to give up her seat on the city bus nine whole months before Rosa Parks did the same thing. Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know?
Starting point is 01:09:50 I wouldn't give up my seat nine months before Rosa. It was called a woman. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because in order to make history, you have to make some noise. Listen to Historical Records on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:10:14 It's about time. What's going on? Rumor Report. Rumor Report. This is the Rumor Report. With Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Well, that girl, Ebony K. Williams, is the newest Real Housewives of New York cast member. And the trailer for season 13 is out.
Starting point is 01:10:36 And you can see her checking Ramona Singer for how she spoke to the housekeeper. Listen to this. Diana. No, I'm Michelle. I get my help wrong. She says she could help me. The help comment was a little triggering for me. Here's the hospitality system.
Starting point is 01:10:48 I have more education than anybody at this table. Don't come into my house and tell me I don't have an education. I can leave your house. Eek. Listen. Well, drop on a clues bomb for Ebony K. Williams. Okay. The help also makes you think of the movie, The Help.
Starting point is 01:11:06 I just don't want to see Ebony swinging on nobody, and you know, I don't play about Ebony K. Williams, okay? So everybody on that show need to be very careful on how you move on Ebony K. It's weird to see you on that show. You know I always support Ebony K. Williams, but I just don't see her speaking to any of these women.
Starting point is 01:11:21 Except for Leah McSweeney, that's my girl. And so I can see her and Leah being cool. I could see that. And I would watch for Leah and for Ebony. And also Ebony has multiple sides, right? Like, you know, Ebony's able to sit down and have a conversation with anybody.
Starting point is 01:11:38 You know, like they always say, a wise man can play the role of a fool, but a fool can't play the role of a wise man. And Ramona Singer is known for treating people in the service industry not too good. And so that's something that she's been called out on numerous times in the past. And even her former co-star, Bethany Franco, called her out for her poor behavior towards her assistant. Andy Cohen called her out for how she treated the staff in Mexico. And so that's an ongoing thing.
Starting point is 01:12:04 I do not like when people are rude to anybody who's in the service industry. It is the nastiest thing when people feel like you're above certain people. Know everybody's name. You know, be courteous. Like, they're doing a service for you. I hate it. Okay? But I'll be watching Real Housewives of New York.
Starting point is 01:12:19 I never watched before, but I'll be watching for Ebony. I watched it for Leah last season. I never watched. I didn't know Leah was on. Salute to Leah, though. Yeah, I never watched New York City like that, but I'm going watching for Ebony K. Williams. I watched it for Leah last season and she was ignored. Salute to Leah though. Yeah, I never watched New York City like that but I'm going to support Ebony. Now, when does it come on?
Starting point is 01:12:31 May 4th is the premiere. So she's like the first black person added to the cast. Okay. And don't forget to listen to Ebony K. Williams Holding Court Podcast on the Black Effect iHeartRadio Podcast Network with my man Dustin. Great podcast.
Starting point is 01:12:44 All right. And now let's talk about Real Housewives of Atlanta. Kenya Moore has apologized. And that is because she was wearing a Native American headdress for Halloween on the Real Housewives of Atlanta. She got some backlash. At first, she tried to double down on it. I seen this coming. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:12:58 What? I seen the episode and I seen her wearing this. I said, oh, five, four, three, two, one. Here it goes. She was dressed as a, quote, warrior princess. So in this website, this Instagram page, Illuminative actually went ahead and, you know, posted to her. We are deeply disturbed by last night's episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta in which Kenya Moore wore a Native American warrior princess costume. Bravo apologized.
Starting point is 01:13:23 They said Bravo aims to have the highest standards of respect and inclusivity and we recognize that the recent episode in which a cast member wears a Native American costume did not uphold those values. We had hoped it would provide a teachable moment. However, in retrospect, it is clear the network did not address this properly given the gravity of the situation. We apologize.
Starting point is 01:13:40 But at first, Kenya was saying that she was able to do that she had that in her blood but then she did end up apologizing after a lot of backlash she said i want to sincerely apologize for inappropriately wearing the native american headdress as a costume i now realize this is both disrespectful and insensitive and would never have done it if i had the knowledge and understanding beforehand i regret it when you know better you do better i am genuinely sorry how many times do we have to have this
Starting point is 01:14:05 conversation, though, you know, where people get offended by it? Like, we've had this conversation a lot. But on the other side, you know, we grew up playing Cowboys and Indians and we thought it was, I guess, a show of respect. But we've had these conversations. People are offended by it, so we should stop, right?
Starting point is 01:14:22 Well, Native Americans gotta start putting hands on people. You know what I'm saying saying that's what it's they just got to make an example when you went when but halloween when you wear you know different garb from different you know sides of the world whether it's cowboys or indians or first of all you're the only person that dresses up like a cowboy okay you told us the story yeah you told us that story with gear and you dressed up like a goddamn cowboy and you had to tap such a butt out you said and then it Yeah, you told us that story. And you had to chaps at your butt out, you said. And then it was like right after you saw Brokeback Mountain.
Starting point is 01:14:49 But yeah, it's true. People dress up as like, you know. I try to be serious all the time. You always want to bring it back to my ass, right? You keep talking about cowboys. You mentioned cowboys three times. The only person in this room that has ever played cowboys and Indians is you. You ain't never played cowboys and Indians. No, I ain't never played no damn cowboys and Indians.
Starting point is 01:15:04 I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. That's about it. Cowboys and Indians is you. You ain't never played Cowboys and Indians. No, I ain't never played no damn Cowboys and Indians. I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. That's about it. We need the Cowboys and Indians. We need a little game. All right, well, that is your rumor report. All right. Thank you, Miss E. Let's zip it, guys.
Starting point is 01:15:15 Now, if you were a Cowboy, what would your Cowboy name be? I'm just curious. What? Hmm? What? Are y'all about to role play? Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 01:15:23 So weird. My God. Yo, who you giving your about to role play? Jesus Christ. My God. Yo, who you giving the donkey to, man? Okay. I need Derrick Jackson to come to the front of the congregation. We'd like to have a word with Derrick Jackson this morning. Who is Derrick Jackson for the people out there that don't know? I guess we'll find out when we come back.
Starting point is 01:15:37 We'll find out. We all know now. We might not have known before, but now we know. Because it's been all over social media. That's right. This isn't for the people who don't know. This is for the people who know. This is for the people who know. This is for the people who follow, and this is for
Starting point is 01:15:47 Derrick Jackson himself. Okay. All right. We'll get to it next. It's The Breakfast Club. Come on. The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same. Angela here, and The General Insurance has been helping people save money for nearly 60 years. They offer the quality coverage you deserve at prices you can afford.
Starting point is 01:16:04 Make the right call and go with The General. Call 800-GENERAL or visit TheGeneral.com. Some restrictions apply. It's time for Donkey of the Day. Donkeys of the Day, I'm Charlamagne. I'm a Democrat, so being Donkey of the Day is a little bit of a mixed question.
Starting point is 01:16:21 So like a donkey, he hung. Donkey of the Day. The Practice Club, bitches. Now, I've been called a lot in my 23 years that donkey of the day is a new one. Well, okay. Let me blow my nose. Okay. Listen.
Starting point is 01:16:38 Donkey of the day. For Wednesday, March 24th, goes to self-love ambassador, entrepreneur, social media relationship expert, Arthur. He's wrote books like Hail Together Without Hurting Each Other. He wrote another book called Single Mothers Are For Grown Men Only. And he even wrote a book called A Cheating Man's Heart, a fiction novel. I put fiction novel in air quotes because based on all these new developments, it's safe to sayrick jackson's book a cheating man's heart was probably based on a true story now derrick has built a following basically calling men out on their behavior okay holding men accountable i'm not mad at that he's done it to me he's done it to little duval he's done it to gilly the king he's
Starting point is 01:17:21 done it to isaac hayes the third this it to Isaac Hayes the Third. This is his thing, okay, holding men accountable. And I'm fine with that. I had him on my podcast, Brilliant Idiots, a few years ago. And on that podcast, we promised to hold each other accountable. Well, Derrick Jackson, it's your turn to be held accountable. Okay, let's just get right to it. Derrick Jackson is full of shit, okay? The what?
Starting point is 01:17:41 I can't curse, and you know that. You say, oh, what? Yes, he's full of that. Okay. He's a liar. A textbook narcissist and manipulator who gets what he wants at the expense of other people's well-being. This is a guy who will get online and say this about men who have cheated. I have no sympathy for a man who finds it to be difficult to be faithful after being in a promiscuous
Starting point is 01:18:06 lifestyle and neither should you nobody told you to be promiscuous before the relationship and nobody made you be monogamous with just her you don't want her let another man have her simple and more times i would say nine times out of ten when the dude gets caught cheating that wasn't his very very first time cheating that was his only time getting caught. I agree with you, Derek. Okay. And guess what? Derek Jackson himself is a cheater. Oh, he just got exposed by a woman named Candace.
Starting point is 01:18:33 I can't pronounce her last name. But Derek Jackson, who is a married man, bought this woman to Atlanta to stay in his house. He shares with his wife and kids. The woman, Candace, who Derek was cheating with, actually took pictures of her laying in the bed he shared with his wife in their Atlanta home. Derek Jackson, who spells his last name J-A-X-N. Why? I don't know. That bothers me. Jackson may be a slave name, but when it comes to black people, it's one of the greatest last names you can ever have. Why would you hack that? I mean, when you're talking Jackson, you're talking Samuel L. Janet, Jesse Boe, Randy Mahalia, and of course, Michael. But actually, I'm glad you don't spell your last name Jackson, because you don't deserve to be in that Jackson power ranking.
Starting point is 01:19:12 OK, if you were, you would be at the bottom right under Andrew. You know, Andrew Jackson, seventh president of the United States, slave master, ethnic cleanser, tyrant. If you actually spelled your last name Jackson correctly, you would be at the bottom of the list near him because of the level of evil that you display. Yes, my brother. See what we're going to do here today is stop the shenanigans. Okay. See, my father always told me that when you lie, you're not lying to nobody but yourself. And I have watched you since this story broke, just lie and attempt to continue to manipulate the public. I mean, that's what you do. You manipulate people. You get online and have these bad faith arguments, which is also textbook narcissism, meaning you don't care about or even try to understand the people that you speak about.
Starting point is 01:19:55 You said it yourself. I don't have no sympathy for a man who cheats. Not only do you not care or attempt to understand the people you're talking about, to have any sympathy or empathy, all right? You are dedicated to deliberately misunderstanding and mischaracterizing others to make yourself look good. You like to paint other men as being dishonest and deceptive and morally corrupt. Why? Because you're a narcissist, and that's what narcissists do,
Starting point is 01:20:22 project their BS onto other people. The reason you love to paint men as dishonest, deceptive, and morally corrupt is because that's what narcissists do project their bs onto other people the reason you love to paint men as dishonest deceptive and morally corrupt is because that's what you are see derrick i waited to give you donkey because i wanted to see how you would react to all of this and you reacted by doing what you've been doing all this time and that's lying see i saw the first video you posted when you first addressed the allegations you said that you and your wife were separated during that time and that you and Candace have had a sexual relationship without actually having sex. Listen, I'm in screw it mode, eff it mode. I'm hitting up old chicks. I really don't care at this point. One of those people was a girl named Candace.
Starting point is 01:20:58 Now, here's the thing. So me and Candace have had a sexual relationship without actually having sex fallacies nonsense word salad lies denying changing definitions this is textbook narcissism people lying about what happened denial delusion trying to confuse us to make us doubt the reality of this reality of the situation see narcissists are often ill-equipped to have mature discussions or resolve conflicts but in their, they are experts at it. Okay, he don't even really understand what he's saying, but in his mind, he's being rational, reasonable, and correct. But the reality is, this nigga just lying. That's why what he's saying don't make no sense.
Starting point is 01:21:35 Okay, we had a sexual relationship but didn't have sex. That's why it's just an incoherent rant with no logic because it's a lie. Then hours later, hours later, Derrick Jackson came back online with his wife to admit that he did cheat and that he was unfaithful to his wife listen to this guy the truth is is that derrick jackson was involved with other women outside the marriage and by involved i want to be clear i'm not talking about just casually kicking it maybe a lunch or something like that i'm talking about as serious as serious ass. Six. First name, nigga, last name, please.
Starting point is 01:22:05 Derek, if nobody else has told you, what you did to your wife was wrong. All right, she had nothing to do with this. She wasn't with you when you was out here cheating with these women, so she shouldn't be with you when you're doing damage control. This story has nothing to do with her, nothing. And what's sad is you are more concerned
Starting point is 01:22:19 about saving your business than you are about saving your marriage. You are more concerned about what we think of you than you are about what your wife thinks of you. Okay. You care more about what we think, what you're more concerned about what we think of you than you are about what your wife thinks of you. King, if you're going to use your wife as a human shield, like Nino Brown used that kid as a human shield in New Jack City, at least get her glammed up, okay? You got her up there looking like she forgot it was the second part to the busting challenge.
Starting point is 01:22:48 I was waiting for her to drop and come up fresh, but that never happened. And guess what? You don't care. You didn't care about the backlash she could receive. You be on social media all the time. You know how cruel people are. Not only does your wife have to heal from your infidelity now,
Starting point is 01:23:02 she has to heal from the bullying that she is currently receiving online. But a narcissist like you don't give a damn because your goal as a narcissist is to dominate and be perceived as right at all costs do you know the complex your wife is going to have now it's impossible to not be impacted by what people say about you online ain't enough god and jesus in the world you can put on the whole armor of god and god will protect you but you still gonna feed into what people are saying and you could have protected your queen from all that because she had nothing to do with it this is about you and your behavior if she forgives you great but that don't mean drag her out and have her on your arm looking like a damn puppet off cranky acres and you the chief manipulator controlling all her movements but that's what narcissists do they deflect attack project that's why he had his wife
Starting point is 01:23:50 there to deflect then he started talking about john gray because shade room asked him a question you should have just ignored that but you can't because narcissists love to shift attention from what they are saying and doing this brother derrick jack, went so far as to deflect and blame Jesus. Listen. At that point, I had a beef with God. I gave my life to Christ, and my whole life fell apart. My marriage fell apart.
Starting point is 01:24:15 At this point, I'm not seeing my kids, and I really honestly just went to a place of effort. It's the audacity for me. I've never heard a person say, I gave my life to God, and now my life is left up. That's not how that works. Derek,'ve never heard a person say, I gave my life to God and now my life is left up. That's not how that works. Derek, God told me to tell you, stop lying, nigga. Okay. God, Jesus, the Holy ghost. They don't got nothing to do with your ways. In fact, they told me to remind you that this is nothing but the devil. That's who should be getting the
Starting point is 01:24:37 blame here. The devil and the devil's name is Derek Jackson. You're the liar. You're the manipulator. You're the narcissist giving your life life to Christ didn't F your life up. You F'd your life up because you live in a lie and you had the nerve to blame God. You did the same thing to Jesus that you did to your wife. Bought Jesus into it for no reason. But the reason you do this is because you never truly have to take responsibility for their toxic behavior. That's what narcissists do. Narcissists do things like this. The only reason he brought Jesus up is because he never truly wants to take responsibility for his bad behavior.
Starting point is 01:25:10 Derek, I decided to give you donkey of the day after what I heard you say last night because it confirmed for me what I already knew. You are a textbook narcissist. Like, you need to be studied. See, gaslighters, narcissists love to speak in the third person. Why? Because it distances them from their actions. Listen to this dude yesterday sitting in the car listen i hope he understands that all the accountability in the world is not going to rebuild broken trust not on a personal level and even with the public that
Starting point is 01:25:34 he's addressing like even his most loyal supporters at this point will probably have a raised eyebrow from this point forward whenever he wants to condemn another man for something like this and rightfully so so hopefully he understands that nonetheless i know some people will see this type of video even though he's come forward and he's been completely honest um some people are just going to close the book on d i'm more so on the side of his wife and just basically letting this be a new chapter of how i see him because i do believe that his content over the years has helped a tremendous amount of people you know he tells the truth. He speaks facts. And quite honestly, I'm going to be real with y'all.
Starting point is 01:26:08 I've needed several new chapters in my own life. When gaslighters, narcissists feel that not enough people are praising them, they praise themselves. Speaking in third person is a reassurance to the gaslighter narcissist that he is worthy of adoration. Derek, it's just simply time for you to shut the F up forever. Take a break. I know last year with COVID, money probably was tight because you weren't getting booked for speaking engagements to show up to lie to people and I know you see your business crumbling before your eyes but King, just go get help.
Starting point is 01:26:33 You need to do some real soul searching, you need to do some real therapy and you need to fix what's wrong with you. Don't get online today trying to project, deflect and attack anyone else. Prove to us that you are not a narcissist by shutting the hell up. I challenge you to disable all your social media and go away for so much. Vanish. I know as a narcissist, you believe that you can talk your way out of this situation, but no. Because see, if you don't stop now, I know where you're going to go from here. What's going to happen is instead of really taking responsibility for your actions, you're going to continue to deflect and start attacking other
Starting point is 01:27:01 people. And that's when it's going to get bad for you. Because right now it's just Candace. Well, man, oh man, there's so many women that are ready to talk about how you tried to highlight them. And if you don't stop while you're ahead, it's going to get worse. And I know it may feel like you can't get worse, but Derek, it absolutely can. Just go away for a while. I know you've got an extremely fragile ego and shaky self-esteem. You're going to be online looking for the handful of people who are still stupid enough to support you. You're going to be reposting them, retweeting them to receive more false validation, looking for the handful of people who still stupid enough to support you You're gonna be reposting memory tweeting them to receive more false validation looking for folks to side with you and tell them that you are Right and good and blah blah blah Well, you can prop your wife up
Starting point is 01:27:32 You can deflect and attack others blame others act like you're happily married now and continue to use this situation to promote that book of Lies you have on your website with you and your wife on the cover But since you the narcissist like to speak in third person Let's end this with Derrick Jackson giving a piece of advice to Derrick Jackson. Listen. Public service announcement. Marriage doesn't make a man marriage material.
Starting point is 01:27:51 See, through the media and sometimes firsthand experience, marriage has been marketed as what it could and really should be. A long-lasting, beautiful union, but it's not a magic trick that wipes away a dude's ancient ways forever. You can go get the prettiest ribbon you can find
Starting point is 01:28:03 and put it on a turd. It's still gonna be a piece of s***. Marriage makes you married. Loyalty is what makes you committed. I agree, Derrick. ain't ways forever. You can go get the prettiest ribbon you could find and put it on a turd. It's still going to be a piece of marriage. Makes you married. Loyalty is what makes you committed. I agree, Derek. You can put a ribbon on a piece of shit and it's still a piece of,
Starting point is 01:28:12 okay. And if you proved anything to us this week, it's that you, sir, are a piece of, can you change that? Sure. We all grow, but you have to make a commitment to yourself and not this idea of yourself
Starting point is 01:28:22 that you have created online. Please let Remy Ma give Derek Jackson the biggest. He, he, commitment to yourself, and not this idea of yourself that you have created online. Please let Remy Ma give Derek Jackson the biggest hee-haw. Hee-haw, hee-haw. You stupid mother f***er. You dumb. All right. Woo.
Starting point is 01:28:36 Well said. Well said. All right. Thank you for that donkey today. Up next, ask Yee. 800-585-1051. If you need relationship advice, call Yee now. It's The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:28:46 Good morning. It's the one and only Yee. It's The Breakfast Club. Come on. Need relationship advice? Need personal advice? Just need real advice. Call up now for Ask Yee. Eat the bread.
Starting point is 01:28:59 Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. It's time for Ask Yee. Hello, who's this? It's Rod. Rod, what's up? What'svy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are The Breakfast Club. It's time for Ask Yee. Hello. Who's this? It's Rod. Rod, what's up?
Starting point is 01:29:09 What's your question for Yee, man? What's good? It's not really a question. It's more like, I guess, a statement. I was with my girlfriend for about six years. We had some issues, some off and on things. And we just had a conversation and she just ghosted me.
Starting point is 01:29:29 She kept my key and everything. She still has my key to my apartment right now. And it's just a lot going on. She has a 26-year-old daughter. They just moved an 18-year-old girl in the house. What?
Starting point is 01:29:42 And she's coming at me saying that I'm not giving her love and affection. So y'all been having some issues and then she just left, but she has your key? Are you sure she's okay? Yeah, I'm sure she's okay.
Starting point is 01:29:55 We just had a conversation last Sunday. About what? I reconciled everything that we've been talking about, about me not giving her affection. She's upset about me not telling her I love her as much as I used to anymore. You know, just all of those things that I guess making her feel like I need her and want her in the relationship.
Starting point is 01:30:16 And which I do. I do want to be with her. And it's just like, I just think that she's doing things and she's creating all of this stuff. So you think it's not real? Wait, hold on. So you're thinking this is not real and she's just creating issues and she doesn't really feel that way? Yes, because she's 45 years old. She's living at home with a 26, 25-year-old daughter.
Starting point is 01:30:43 And her daughter's not doing anything to move on. We've been talking about moving in together. I'm in the verge of buying a house right now. I'm trying to get a house right now. I just have an issue with her coming to you about problems that she has with their relationship, and instead of you wanting to work on it and understanding, you think she's making this up.
Starting point is 01:31:04 Yeah, I do. I think a lot of it, she's making it up. Because, like, I don't understand, like, it's kind of hard for me. I'm kind of shocked that I got through to you guys. Because I've been thinking about calling for a while. Mm-hmm. I just, why, but let me ask you this.
Starting point is 01:31:20 Can you admittedly say that you're not telling her you love her as much as you used to? Yeah, I can say that. And I think I have a legitimate reason why. Why? My legitimate reason why is because she's never around. Like, you know, we barely spend 24 hours together on the weekend. You know what I'm saying? And we live not in the same city.
Starting point is 01:31:43 Well, I'm in Georgia. And she lives in like Duluth. I live in Varney. I'm just confused about why you guys had a conversation to try to resolve things. And yet you don't believe when she's expressing herself to you. But you are admitting to me that you don't do the things that she says you don't do. But then you're also saying she's making it up. That doesn't make it easy for someone to want to express themselves to you if you just don't do the things that she says you don't do. But then you're also saying she's making it up. That doesn't make it easy for someone to want to express themselves to you
Starting point is 01:32:06 if you just don't believe them. Well, I don't know what to say because I got ghosted. I would never do that to her. Yeah, but you also won't tell her that you love her and it's like you're blaming her for you not telling her you love her. You're saying it's her fault because she's not around. I have been telling her you love her. You're saying it's her fault because she's not around. I have been telling her I love her, but how can you show affection to a person that's not there?
Starting point is 01:32:32 Well, why would I want to be around you if you're not showing me affection? It just feels like you guys both need to be really open-minded about things. And I'm going to tell you the truth. As a woman, sometimes these things fester and they build up. We have these conversations with you.
Starting point is 01:32:46 They don't go as planned. That might have been like a deal breaker for her. And usually when we come to that point and we're ready to give up, that window of opportunity for you closes. And we've already moved on in our head months earlier. So you have the opportunity to try to bring it back. But instead, it feels like you're deflecting. You're saying it's her fault. You're not admitting that maybe she really does feel this way. You're not trying to come up with
Starting point is 01:33:09 solutions because I feel like discussions like this are a great opportunity for both people to say, this is what I could be doing better. Instead of saying, you're doing this, that's why I'm not doing this. It should be, okay, what can I work on? And then I'm going to let you know what you need to work on. How can we move forward together? Instead of I'm telling you how I feel and you're telling me it's not valid. No, I agree with that. But I think we already went to that already. I've already had discussions with her and saying how can we make things better?
Starting point is 01:33:39 You know, I want to be with you. I love you. And so on and so forth. Have you reached out to her since she ghosted you? Have you reached out to her? I've been trying to reach out to her all weekend. Like, we had the conversation on Sunday. We had a conversation on Sunday. And we actually talked a couple of days this week. And then when Saturday came, usually, you know, because I was expecting to see her Saturday. I call her Saturday morning.
Starting point is 01:34:03 She doesn't answer the phone. So I call her again. She's not answering. And this is all after we've been talking, you know, for two or three days. I haven't talked to her since Thursday. Were the discussions good that you guys had? It wasn't a great conversation because, you know, we both got things off our chest.
Starting point is 01:34:22 I guess, you know, we wanted to get whatever it is that we needed to discuss off our chest. But my thing is, okay, if we have this conversation and we decided to meet face to face, you know, and then, I guess, within those next three days, she felt like she needed to
Starting point is 01:34:39 ghost me or whatever. And I just wanted to make sure I kept away. No, go ahead. I'm sorry. I was going to say she might just be doing that for herself and feeling like I don't want to keep doing something that we're going in circles and maybe I need to just cut the cord. Sometimes we do feel like we have to go cold turkey. I just want
Starting point is 01:34:58 to make a suggestion to you. If this is the person that you want to be with and you love her, then maybe you need to take heed to what she's telling you she needs you to do and address it that way instead of saying, okay, that's not valid. That's not legitimate. Or we try this, we try that. Because even now you're being very resistant to what I'm trying to tell you. And I don't know on her behalf, you know, what you need for her to do. But I think because she's the one that's left, because she's the one that's hurting, you need to let her know, okay, these are the things that you told me I need to work on,
Starting point is 01:35:27 and this is what I'm willing to do. And let's come together and really move forward solution-oriented. And then I'll let you know the things that I feel like are necessary for me because I want this to work. Sometimes our ego doesn't let us say, okay, I'm wrong, or I need to work on this or admit our own faults. And that's a great way for you guys to be able to move forward. But if she's over it,
Starting point is 01:35:46 I don't know what else I can tell you because sometimes it's been something that's been building up and explodes and we're like, I can't do this anymore. But if you really love her, then I feel like you just have to approach it in a way that you're not putting blame on her. You're just letting her know what you can do
Starting point is 01:36:02 to try to salvage this. And you have to make real change. And if that means you have to call in an expert and y'all got to go sit down and talk to a therapist, let her know you're willing to do whatever it takes, because sometimes that's what we need to know. If she's not feeling loved, if she's not feeling like you're there for her, think about the stress of her having to take care of her 26 year old daughter who lives with her. And you're probably giving her a hard time about that as well. That's her daughter. I'm sure it's stressful for her too. And then to hear it from you and then also have to
Starting point is 01:36:27 deal with it in real life, that's not easy. So people have a lot of stress that they're going through right now. And I'm sure you are too. So y'all got to be each other's people that you can lean on. It's a teamwork effort thing. It's definitely teamwork. and I agree with everything you're saying. It's just, like, I do think that I have some valid points. Like I said, you know who I am. It's not a who's winning, who has valid points. Just be vulnerable. And if you want something to work out, you have to take that risk and be vulnerable. And you have to also expose your own flaws and concentrate on those instead of saying, I have valid points.
Starting point is 01:37:05 It feels like you're trying to win an argument. That's not what this is about. No, I'm not trying to just win an argument. I'm just trying to, you know, I guess I'm trying to get my point across. And it's okay though. But in getting your point across, it doesn't have to be like, I have a valid point. You're wrong. I'm right. That's not how it works. You can say, you know what? I'm receiving what you're telling me and I get it. And so I want to work on those things. How can I make this happen? Let's do that. Right.
Starting point is 01:37:32 No, I totally get it. Alright. Good luck, man. I hope you work it out. Can I shout out my IG? Go ahead. Can I do that? I got a show. I took a show on a cooking show on YouTube,
Starting point is 01:37:46 Chefs in the Hood. All right, man. Okay. Ask Yee, 805-85-1051. Now, we got rumors on the way? Yes, and Saweetie is on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine, and she's being very vulnerable
Starting point is 01:37:57 about things in her career that didn't go as planned and how hard it was for her at a certain point. All right, we'll get to that next. It's The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club. Good morning. The Breakfast Club.
Starting point is 01:38:11 Morning, everybody. We are The Breakfast Club. Let's get to the rumors. Let's talk Bobby Brown Jr. It's time. She's spilling the tea. This is The Rumor Report with Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. Well, Bobby Brown and Kim Ward are looking for justice for their late son, Bobby Brown Jr.
Starting point is 01:38:37 Bobby Brown Jr. died from an accidental overdose of alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl. Now, according to a statement from the family, he said, my family continues to mourn my son's death. Street fentanyl has taken the life of so many people unnecessarily. And Bobby Jr. is another victim. He also described the opioid crisis as out of control. He said those supplying this lethal drug should be held responsible for the death and destruction that it causes. Now, his mom said he was not into drugs, even though in the autopsy, it says he had a medical history of alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana use. She said that he was easily influenced. And this is a situation where he associated himself with the wrong people.
Starting point is 01:39:12 My son is gone. And those who contributed to his senseless death should be held accountable. Yeah. Listen, I don't know how Bobby Brown Sr. does it either. I mean, that man has consistently lost the closest people to him. Mom, dad, Whitney, Bobby Christina, his son. I don't know how
Starting point is 01:39:29 he even maintains sanity. Yeah. All right. So, Saweetie is on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine. She looks great, by the way, on there. And in that article, she's very open about her struggles that she's had with her career and getting started in the industry and the work
Starting point is 01:39:49 that she has to put in. But she said last year was the year that she finally became comfortable in her own skin. She said, I kind of figured out what my purpose was. I think it's important to show little black and brown girls they can be successful in whatever they want to do. If I can do it, you can do it too. I know that as long as I work hard, I'll become one of the best. And she also talked about how she really struggled and the rocky start that she had, especially at one point when she was freestyling and she said the host called her basic and things like that happened. And it just kind of put her in a bad space. Bay laced me with a watch, the diamonds they be dancing, I could barely see the clock, space. skilled hookers. Ooh, you don't know me and you don't like me. That's a very special skill. Drop one of Clues Bumps, Rasool.
Starting point is 01:40:48 Y'all just don't even understand, King. Y'all don't know bars when you hear them. Stop it, Saweetie. She makes great records. She just had a bad day. She said that it was a really dark point in her life. She said, I went from being so loved so quickly because of Icy Girl
Starting point is 01:41:04 to on my first promo run, she said the script flipped really quick, like night and day, because Icy Girl was so popular, I was being booked out of huge festivals. I was literally thrown into it. Also, by the way, what bar is she being held to? That's
Starting point is 01:41:19 what I want to know. I hear that just now. I'm just like, alright. That's cool. Freestyle wasn't great. But what bar is she being held to? But she releases a lot of dope music. She puts out a lot of dope singles. And she can't be scrutinized only because of that freestyle. We've all done some whack stuff sometimes.
Starting point is 01:41:36 And I don't expect Saweetie to be Kendrick Lamar. I don't expect Saweetie to be Rhapsody. That was cool for Saweetie. I don't see what the problem is. Yeah. I guess it's just hard also because yeah, she was beloved and then that happened and the internet is very unforgiving
Starting point is 01:41:50 when something is a misstep. You know people go crazy. I like the song Best Friend that she has out though. That's my song right there. It's cute. It's just funny because what I enjoy is I'm going to go back and watch this video later and read the comments and see if people say, Charlamagne, no he's lying. You're lying. I mean, say, Charlamagne, no, he lying.
Starting point is 01:42:05 You lying. I am not. You are lying. I enjoyed it. But every record Saweetie put out has been, I think, a top 20 record, a top 10 record. She's put out hits. I mean, she's just not a freestyle artist. Play it again.
Starting point is 01:42:16 Play it again. Bae, let's me with a watch. Saddam and Zay be dancing. I can barely see the clock. Tick tock. Whoa. That mean your girl real icy. That mean I don't got times for girls that don't like me i be minding my own biz but they check up on me like a parent does they kid how does that really feel you don't know
Starting point is 01:42:36 me and don't like me that's a very special skill you don't know me and don't like me that's a very special skill i'm checking up on you like parents check up on their kids. I heard balls. I don't know what y'all heard. Drop on the clues, Mom Sweetie. You know, a lot of artists won't freestyle too. Exactly. And I understand why. No, you don't. Yes, I do. It's not easy to even be able to do that. That's why I can respect even
Starting point is 01:42:57 somebody doing that because that's very difficult. I can't imagine. Alright, now Sesame Street has added two Black Muppets and that is Wes and Elijah. And so they've made their debut in a short online video because it's a black father and son. So they want to help children understand racial literacy. Melanin is something that we each have inside our bodies that make the outside of our bodies the skin color that it is. It also gives us our eye and our hair color.
Starting point is 01:43:27 If we all have melanin, why are we different colors? Well, it's because the more melanin you have, the darker your skin looks. The color of our skin is an important part of who we are. But we should all know that it's okay that we all look different in so very many ways. I didn't like that freestyle. How did Evie get on there? I don many ways. I didn't like that freestyle. How did Envy get on there? I don't know. I didn't like that freestyle. I want to say this,
Starting point is 01:43:49 Sesame Street admitting that they never had no black Muppets, because I just assumed some of the Muppets were black. No, they had puppets. It's because they want to be able to discuss Muppets. Muppets and Sesame Street are two different things. I don't know. Muppets. They're Muppets, right? Or they're puppets?
Starting point is 01:44:05 Muppets. I didn't know that there was race on Sesame Street. I didn't know none of the characters were considered. They had some purple ones. They had orange ones. They do have Spanish-speaking ones. For real? You know, and yeah, they do.
Starting point is 01:44:16 They had Rosita. Does she speak Spanish? But I think what it is. Never heard of Rosita. Yeah, what it is is they want to be able to discuss race and racism. And they're doing this whole coming together series. So what they're trying to do is focus on things like this to kind of educate kids. Well, good.
Starting point is 01:44:33 Because I'm trying to figure out the relationship between Snuffleupagus and Big Bird and Bert and Ernie. All right. It's time for them to live their truth. Yes, you and Envy. I always tell you that Bert and Ernie. And I hope for Halloween this year, y'all come in dressed as Bert and Ernie because the people really want it. You never thought about what Snuffleupagus puts his trunk? No.
Starting point is 01:44:49 Well, you guys could be Snuffleupagus and Big Bird, too, if you want. Okay. But I think Bert and Ernie makes more sense. And yes, Envy always has sounded like Elmo. All right, well, go ahead. That's a lot of weird stuff going on on Sesame Street, bro. All right, Revolt, we'll see you tomorrow. Why are people always tickling Elmo?
Starting point is 01:45:06 Everybody else. The People's Choice Mix is up next. You might not have got that Bachelor hosting, but you could get a role. Why is that? Oscar the Grouch clearly has a crack problem, but nobody cares. All right. People's Choice Mix is up next. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:45:24 Tickle him, John. He really tickled him. Y'all are cute. Shut up, man. That's really how you ended it? Let's go. Let's go. The Breakfast Club. Your mornings will never be the same. Mountain Dew is partnering with HBCUs in an effort to uplift the next generation of badass black innovators and entrepreneurs with the Real Change Opportunity Fund Pitch Competition. Empowering students to go out and do. Is it mountaindu.com slash
Starting point is 01:45:49 realchange to enter. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. All right. Now it's Women's History Month. What are we doing, Yee? Well, Ricky Hughes has been doing amazing work. She a company a production company called magic lemonade she just recently did the living black special for iheart she also made history as the first black female to receive an emmy for outstanding variety special for netflix's dave chappelle equanimity and the bird revelation comedy special she got a grammy for best comedy album for that special too and she recently served as as executive producer of BET's tribute to the late Andre Harrell's Mr. Champagne and Bubbles, as well as Dave Chappelle's latest comedy special, Sticks and Stones on Netflix. She did all deaf comedy for that HBO special. She did comedy Central's Hood Adjacent, amongst other things. Coming up, she does have an own
Starting point is 01:46:39 special that's going to be happening for Easter. It's called Our Own Easter, and they just announced a new show for HBO Max called The Hype that's hosted by Offset. Here is Ricky Hughes. It's Women's History Month, and we're celebrating the most influential women in history. Check out this phenomenal woman. For, you know, any woman, especially in a position of power or looking to become in a position of power, first thing I say is first figure out how to be of service. It's our job to be of service. And whatever that means to you, you should go for it. Forget about fear.
Starting point is 01:47:17 It doesn't have a place at all in any of your choices. And just be honest and true to yourself. And one thing I've learned is to not worry about being successful, but how can I be useful? And that was another phenomenal woman in history. All right. Well, congratulations to Ricky Hughes. She does amazing work in her whole company, her whole team at Magic Lemonade. You know, she was in the music business for a while and then she left to start her career producing TV and award shows. So congratulations to Ricky. You have been killing it out here.
Starting point is 01:47:59 All right. Absolutely. Now, shout to Swizz and Timbaland for joining us this morning. That's right. I really love and appreciate, you know, what Swiss and, you know, Tim have done with Versus. And, you know, anybody that thinks that's not a good business move, they just simply don't know business. Because a year ago today, Versus wasn't a business. It was something they were doing for fun. Correct. On Instagram. Now, a year later, it's, you know, part of a company that's been evaluated for well over a billion dollars. And every single person who participated in Versus initially has equity in that company, Triller. So you can't do nothing but salute Timbaland and Swiss.
Starting point is 01:48:33 Absolutely, man. Shout to them, and shout to Swiss. Swiss is my inspiration. When I get a little tired and I get a little lazy, I call Swiss, and Swiss has so many businesses going on, man, and he runs his camp and his machine like a well-oiled machine. I call Swizz, and me and Swizz just have conversations. It gives me that energy I need.
Starting point is 01:48:54 Now you got a positive note? Swizz my guy. Swizz is the reason that my first big check in the music industry came because of Swizz. And, you know, a lot of the ways I move is because of a person like Swizz because he's a person that does things that he doesn't have to do. And I always tell people, if you want to see somebody's true character, watch how they treat people that can't do anything for them. And I've always seen Swiss treat people with the utmost respect.
Starting point is 01:49:17 So, salute to my guy, Swiss. All right. Well, you got a positive note? Yes, man. The positive note is simply this. For everybody who thinks that, you know, their life may be a little out of whack right now or things aren't going the way they want them to, remember this. Eventually, all pieces fall into place.
Starting point is 01:49:33 Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment, and know that everything, and I do mean everything, happens for a reason. Breakfast Club, bitches! Starting point is 01:51:01 Check it. And it began with me. Did you know, did you know? I wouldn't give up my seat. Nine months before Rosa, it was called a woman. Get the kids in your life excited about history by tuning in to Historical Records. Because, in order to make history, you have to make
