What is going on, guys. Welcome back to another episode of the Bryce Crawford podcast. I'm Bryce and today, man, I don't know what it feels like. It feels like we haven't recorded in a while, even though we put one out every week. And so I'm super excited to be back. Guys, by the title of this video, we're going to be talking about how to evangelize. How do we operate in evangelism? What does that look like? We're going to talk about it today. Before we get into it, I want to talk about two things really quickly. First off, the can you guys see behind me every day is a very special.
can all right it is a company called renewal rain renewal rain is a christian mineral water company
i know as a christian years ago i used to drink liquid death then they come out they do witchcraft
over their bottles we found that out and it was like brother i ain't drinking that anymore and a beautiful
thing is is that renewal rain actually started this christian mineral water company to combat liquid
death because they were doing witchcraft over their bottles and so these mineral waters are
amazing. We love them. We drink through them here all the time. I love Renewal Rain and I highly
encourage you guys if you were someone that used to drink liquid death or you like carbonated water
or maybe you haven't had carbonated water or you don't like it. I was someone that didn't even
like carbonated water and then I had Renewal Rain and I loved it and I think it's because the Holy
Spirit's all over the company. So if you guys would like to go to Renewal Rain, get it at Renewal Rain.com
and if you want to use code BC25, get 25%. I might have messed that up. I don't know, but
It's a discount on your order.
BC25.
You get a discount at Renewerrain.com.
It's powerful.
I love their company.
I think it's amazing.
And then the second thing I want to talk about,
guys, we started a kingdom training school on Patreon.
If you go to patreon.com slash Bryce Crawford is a kingdom training school.
We're uploading weekly verse by verse breakdown videos.
We're doing group calls.
I'm doing a temporary amount of single calls.
It's like one-on-one calls while we work on the Zooms.
So it's been amazing.
It's powerful.
It's going to be awesome.
So, guys, go.
check that out. Let's talk about evangelism. This is a highly requested video.
What is evangelism? How do I evangelize? How do I share the gospel? All these things.
We're going to get into some scripture. I'm going to share some testimonies. It's going to be
powerful. Now, with evangelism, what exactly are you sharing with people? When it comes to evangelism,
you are giving people the antidote to the sickness of the world. Jesus Christ. If you look into the Old
Testament, there's a thing where Israel was basically rebellious to God, and then they got bitten by all these poisonous snakes.
And then Moses goes on a mountain, and he lifts a bronze serpent, and anyone that looked upon the bronze serpent would be healed.
And we've seen the Gospels in the same way that Israel looked upon the bronze serpent to be healed.
The son of man was lifted up, and all of the world, humankind, is sick with sin.
We are sick with sin, but we are in need of a Savior.
and those who look upon the Son of man will be healed, will be saved from the sickness of sin.
Now, what are we giving people?
We're giving people the gospel, the good news, the ministry of reconciliation.
Proverbs says that anxiety weighs a man's heart down, but a good word keeps the spirit up.
What is a good word?
A good word is the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ, the gospel of peace.
That is a good word.
We're not delivering something that is going to tear people down or front of the good news.
frustrate people on purpose.
We're giving them the good news.
The reason the gospel frustrates people is because, A, they want to continue living the life that they're living.
Or B, it offends their brain to get to their heart.
We got to offend people's brains the way that seems right to a man.
Their way, their pride getting in the way.
In the end, it leads to death as Proverbs says we got to offend their brain to get to their heart.
Because the heart is hard and the gospel will soften it and meet people where they're at.
Because people are in search of hope.
People need hope.
Okay?
Here's the reality with sin.
Sin is like your ethnicity.
You didn't choose to be white.
You didn't choose to be Chinese.
You didn't choose to be Korean.
You didn't choose any of that.
You were just born that way.
It's the same with sin.
We are born into sin.
We inherit it.
It is in our nature.
This little guy right here, Moses here,
he has wickedness in his heart.
You know why?
Because nobody taught him.
him to rip the shoes off the shoe rack and chew them up in the living room. No one taught this dog
that. Why does he do that? It's in his nature to do that. He wasn't, he wasn't born and taught
it. It was just in it. You don't teach a baby to get angry and pitch a fit. It just doesn't because it's
in his nature. Now the beauty of it is, the beauty of this is that we have hope, even though our nature
is inherently sinful. We have Jesus Christ who is perfect and because he shed his blood
on the cross and three days later rose again, we are made perfect in him. So what is the gospel?
The gospel is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you are preaching a gospel without
the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you are not preaching the gospel. Why? Because it doesn't matter
if he didn't resurrect. That's the power in Jesus Christ. Men die. Everyone dies. You and I die.
What separates me and you from Jesus Christ if we both die? The fact that he rose again.
the flesh, he defeated death.
That's the power of Jesus Christ because he was fully man and fully God.
That's who he is.
And so because he died and resurrected on the cross, he defeated death and we can have salvation
in him.
That is the beauty of the gospel.
And he wipes our slate clean of sin.
Because we come to him and say, Jesus, I need you to clean my heart, we can have a repentant
heart.
We can live clean.
We can live pure.
we can live whole and that's beautiful that's a beautiful thing we can live as if sin never existed in
our heart because of jesus christ that's powerful so the good news is hope for people who live in a
sinful nature that is the good news now when it comes to evangelism we have that we had to clarify that
guys we have to clarify what we're preaching to people you're not selling fire insurance so that people don't go to
hell. The gospel isn't fire insurance we give to people so that they don't go to hell. The gospel is
inviting people into intimate relationship with the God of the universe, the God that breathed
the breath inside of their lungs. That's the gospel that you're inviting people into. Intimate
relationship with Jesus Christ. That is powerful. That is beautiful. We need that. We need intimate
relationship. We need a God that wants to be involved in our life. God isn't a distant dictator
trying to force you how to live your life.
God wants to be actively involved in your life.
Do you know what Jesus thinks when you come to him in prayer?
He goes, how are you doing?
No, no, no.
How are you actually doing me?
God, I'm frustrated.
Like, God, I'm having a hard time.
Like, that's the kind of God we serve.
The kind of God we serve is one that wants to be intimate in relationship with us,
walks with us daily.
That's the kind of God we serve.
But we have to clarify what we're preaching.
The New Testament says in the last days,
people will be preaching doctrine that tickles people's ears, the things that people want to hear.
The reality is, is that people don't want to hear the gospel because they want to continue to
fulfill their fleshly desires.
They want to continue living how they want to live.
So if people get upset, know that's going to, it's going to happen.
Like it's going to happen.
People will get frustrated.
But know that it's not your fault.
If you're not doing it on purpose, sometimes people try to do these exasperated things for the
gospel to like get people frustrated at them.
And then they think, oh, well, people are getting upset at me.
So that means I'm doing something right.
No, if you're forcefully upsetting people, then you're just a fool.
But if you're preaching the gospel with love and truth,
and it upsets people and flutters their feathers,
then you're doing something right.
We know that.
I mean, we're going to have a target on our back.
Now, let's talk about some scripture here to go along with evangelism.
The number one question I get asked when it comes to sharing your faith is what are people going to think about me
if I share my faith?
What are people going to say?
What are they going to do?
do. Jesus says in Matthew 9, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. So the issue here
isn't that people aren't ready to give their lives to Jesus. No, Jesus actually says,
many people are ready to surrender to me, but the people willing to step out in faith and share
the gospel with those people who are ripe, very few. So there is a need, there is a drought in the
body of Christ of people who are sharing their faith because Jesus says in Matthew 9 that the harvest
is plentiful many people are ready to surrender to me is what Jesus says but the laborers are few very
few people are willing to go out and share the good news how is it that we aren't going how is it that
we can come to repentance if we don't know the good news that can bring us to a heart posture like
that like we need people that would deliver that you know it's like a paper boy delivering the man
I remember like when I was young before everything was on the internet.
We had paper boys and they would throw and hand out the newspapers every day.
I remember coming home from school when I was young and there being a newspaper and a bag in my driveway anymore.
Now it's not like that anymore.
But we had paper boys to deliver these things.
We as Christians are the bearers and deliverers of good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ.
And then 38 says, therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
that's my prayer you know why because jesus commands us go into the world and preach the gospel to all of
creation yet not anyone's doing it and so my prayer has always been god sin people other than me
you know because we need people who are willing to share the gospel out there the reason that we make
the evangelism videos is to encourage you guys to share the gospel because the gospel is good news
Now I want to talk about something in Mark 6 that happens. In Mark 6, Jesus sends out the disciples in two to preach the gospel. And there's something here I want to talk about it. It comes with, it's almost like an evangelism protocol here that I'm going to start implementing into my life because I have seen what happens when you don't. Now, Jesus gives the disciples authority to heal the sick and cast demons out when he sends the two out. That's the preface.
of Mark six.
And he says to them in verse 10, whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from it.
And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake
the dust that is on your, off your feet, on your feet, shake the dust off your feet as a
testimony against them.
What does that mean?
This is a rabbidic teaching.
Disciples of a rabbi would carry what was considered the dust of their rabbi, the
doctrine of their rabbi everywhere they went.
That is called the dust of their rabbi.
their rabbi. So everywhere the disciples went, they carried the dust of Jesus Christ with them metaphorically.
They carried his doctrine and his teachings when they went into a place. And when you went into a place
that didn't welcome you, that didn't receive you well, just because you planted a seed in a place
doesn't mean you need their dirt on you. Just because you go into a dark place and plant a seed
doesn't mean you need their dirt on you. That doesn't mean you don't love them. But God didn't
send a gardener to plant seeds to collect dirt samples.
And we got too many believers that will go into a place and they say, oh, well, I can't
shake the dust off my feet.
That doesn't mean I don't love them.
No, when he says shake the dust off your feet, he's saying, leave their junk there.
When you go into dark places, you mess with demonic spirits.
You mess with crazy stuff that's ungodly other than you.
And so when you leave a place, you have to understand you can't take their junk with you.
You can't do it.
you come in there to bring the good news of Jesus Christ, the dust of your rabbi,
you are coming into a place when you bring the gospel with the doctrine of Jesus Christ,
the gospel.
And if you come in there and they don't receive your seed, you've planted the seed, you've done what you need to do.
The saving isn't on you.
I love that Jesus calls us to be fissures of men.
He doesn't call us to clean the fish bowl.
What do I mean by that?
God calls us to bring the good news to people, deliver it to them.
invite people in a church, invite people into a relationship with him.
But God doesn't command believers to clean people's mess up because that's the work of the Holy Spirit.
That's what the Holy Spirit does.
Scripture says in 1st Corinthians, we plant seeds, water seeds, but who brings the increase?
God does.
God brings the increase.
God is the one that does the cleaning.
So we don't have the burden and wait to clean people up.
Thank Jesus that it's not on us to clean people up.
I am so glad that it's not on me because I'm going to be completely.
honest, I would do a horrible job of cleaning people up. You don't have to clean the fishbowl.
You just have to be a fissure of men and invite people in relationship with them. But when you go
into these places, know that you go in there, you're not welcome. He says, don't leave your
blessing there. Like, don't leave your blessing there. First Peter 3. 15 should be the foundation
of all evangelism, I believe. But in your hearts, honor Christ, the Lord.
is holy. I love how that's the first thing, 1 Peter 315 says, because if we aren't honoring Christ
the Lord is holy in our heart, then people become a statistic. One of the biggest issues with
evangelism nowadays is people want to go wide. They think successful evangelism is how many people
they can get to say a certain prayer, how many people that they can share the gospel to, when Jesus makes
it very clear that he's all about reaching the want. I mean, look at John for the woman at the well.
He goes out of his way, a Jew and Samaria, to visit the woman at the wall.
So there's the power in reaching the one.
The good shepherd leaves the 99 for the one.
That doesn't mean he doesn't care about the 99.
But that parable is emphasizing the importance of one soul, one lost soul, knowing Jesus.
And so if we do not honor Christ's Lord in our hearts, then we are doing an injustice.
Then it becomes performance.
Then it doesn't come out of a good place of our heart.
It comes out of wicked part of our heart.
We're saying it's about us.
It's up to us.
it's up to us to do the work.
It's not up to us.
It's up to the work of the Holy Spirit.
But in your hearts, honor Christ the Lord is holy.
Always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who ask for a reason of the hope that is in you.
Do it with gentleness and respect.
Man, that's a beautiful thing.
Hold on.
What does he say?
Being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks for a reason to hope for the inside of you.
How do people ask for the hope inside of you when they see you live in it out?
it's one thing to talk but it's another thing to live the gospel out james one says that pure religion is this
to visit widows and orphans in their affliction there's something about doing things indeed and inaction
out of a place of love that provokes people to say man why do you do the things that you do
so when we are living the gospel out because we honor christ as lord in our hearts we don't just talk about how
we are, we naturally live the gospel because we honor him as Lord in our hearts first.
And because we do that, we are naturally prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks us,
why do you do the things that you do? Why do you serve the way you do? Why do you not ignore every
homeless person you see? Why must you tip the bill every time you go to a restaurant? Why do you do the
things that you do? And he says, you deliver that hope with gentleness and respect.
there's so many people that preach the gospel and shove it down people's throats repent or you're going to burn in hell which yes that's true but when you shove the gospel down someone's throat like you're shoving a bite of steak down their throat they don't get to chew and savor the flavor right delivering the good news can be gentleness and respect and some people think oh well if you deliver the gospel with gentleness and respect that makes it weak no there's nothing weak about the gospel with gentleness and respect
there is still honor and love, yet it pulls the gold out of somebody and calls someone out of their life of sin.
Because we've got to do that.
We've got to call people out of a lifestyle of sin.
Did you know that when you share your faith, you're not alone?
You have the Holy Spirit with you.
John 14, the Holy Spirit is promised to be our helper who brings conviction, who teaches us and helps us remember things.
When you go out into these places, you have the helper.
Well, like we mentioned earlier, like we covered, what are people going to think of me?
What are people going to say or do?
Well, that's the beauty of stepping out in boldness.
You don't know what breakthrough is on the other side of someone's yes
when you step out in boldness to share the gospel with it.
You don't know what kind of breakthrough they're going to see.
You don't know what they've been praying for.
They may have the appearance of anger,
but their heart is broken and people are looking for a solution for their heart.
And Jesus Christ takes a broken heart and all the shattered pieces that it is,
is it's bring it to me.
I'm going to heal it and make it whole and new in me.
That's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to perfect you.
I'm going to make you perfect in my sight.
It's a beautiful thing that he does.
Practical action steps for evangelism would be pray for boldness.
When you look in acts, you've got the gospel, water baptism, Holy Spirit.
And then what's the last thing that they do?
They sold their possessions and prayed for boldness.
We must pray for boldness.
It is not up to us to do anything if we're not praying for boldness
and we are relying on our own physical strength and our own mental capacity to share the gospel.
And if you are relying on your own strength and mental capacity to share the gospel,
then man, evangelism must not be fun.
The last thing I want to say is evangelism is an outreach that you put on the calendar every Tuesday afternoon.
Like, yes, it can be, but that's not evangelism.
And evangelism isn't just a gift that only certain people operate in.
sharing your faith is a commandment given by Jesus Christ to all believers.
And sharing your faith should be an everyday thing.
And I want to challenge you guys, if you struggle with your faith and are looking for avenues to grow in them,
I would say put yourself in positions where you have to talk to people where the people can't run away from you.
Like a waiter or waitress, right?
They have to serve you.
They have to serve you.
You know what could be so powerful is if your waiter or waitress,
at the next restaurant you go to,
they have to talk to you,
you share the gospel with them.
And maybe they do get frustrated
because their taste of Christians
in their mouth that isn't so good.
But you keep loving them
and sharing your testimony with them
and weeding the gospel in them
and they're so upset
and maybe they get so upset
that they bring your food out cold
and they don't refill up your drinks often.
And you have an awful experience
at this restaurant.
And they know that they did a bad job
on purpose because they're frustrated
and they're not upset at you
that they've just been hurt
by people who claim to be Christian with their mouth.
But then on top of all of their bad behavior
and their bad service, they bring you the bill,
and you tip them the amount that the bill cost.
And then they're shocked.
They think you made a mistake.
They don't understand why you do it,
because grace is given when it's not deserved,
and we were given something that wasn't deserved,
and that was Jesus Christ laying his life down on the cross
and resurrecting three days later.
And man, do we love to withhold things.
We love to withhold good news.
We love to withhold good gifts,
but Jesus Christ didn't.
And so when people show with their actions
that they're not deserving of a good gift,
that is the best time to give them the good news of Jesus Christ.
Because when people are totally undeserving of a good gift,
you give them the best gift that they could ever deserve.
That is powerful.
That is so powerful.
Evangelism isn't a task on the calendar.
Evangelism isn't just a gift that only some people can do.
Man, sharing our faith should be a lifestyle.
Evangelism is a lifestyle.
The good news, giving it to people is a lifestyle.
Praying for people, praying for the Uber driver.
Man, your Uber driver isn't going to drop you all.
off, not at your destination.
He's got to listen to you.
Man, your waiter or waitress has to serve you.
They have to listen to you.
It's their table.
People that are working at your gym, the people that check you in, when you scan your thing
at Planet Fitness, hey, how can I pray for you?
They can't run.
They got to sit there.
You know, people's hearts are hungry and searching and are in need of hope.
Jesus, I thank you for everyone watching and listen to this episode.
