It's going to be insane, guys.
It's going to be an amazing time of worship, fellowship.
God's really stirring up a word of my heart for that night.
It's going to be powerful.
So if you guys want to come, go get your tickets at Jesus in the street.
dot org slash tickets. It's a way to support our ministry. It's actually going to fund our ministry.
and Lord willing, in Jesus' name, we would love to do these shows across the country, which would
be powerful. And so we don't just want to do them in the Los Angeles, but if you guys want
to be up part of the very first one ever historic night come January 19th at Jesus in the street.
Dot org slash tickets, get them today. Now, let's dive into Luke chapter 10.
Now we're about to see Jesus send out the 72. So you have the layers of Jesus's circle is
John, the disciple whom he loved, probably his best friend, right-hand man.
Then he got Peter James and John.
Then you got the 12.
Then you got the 72.
Then you got a few hundred.
Then you got the masses.
Okay.
He's talking to the 72 here.
After this, the Lord appointed 72 others and sent them on ahead of him.
Two by two in every town and place where he himself was about to go.
He sends him out in twos.
Since about in twos.
And he said to them, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Jesus says, the issue isn't that people aren't ready to give their life to me.
He says, there's a lot of people that are ready to submit.
to me in my teachings. But there are very few people telling people about me. He's like,
we need more laborers. And that's a call to us today. It's like Jesus says, like there's so many
people out there that are ready to give their life to, that are ready to submit to me. And I think
that's like that helps me overcome the fear of man in my brain. When it's like someone looks too
scary to talk to. But Jesus says, actually, there's a lot more people out here that are ready
to give their life to me. So there's a really extreme chance that the scariest person ever in
your school, in your workplace or on the street, there's a very high chance that they're
hungry and searching and open to Jesus Christ. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest
to send out laborers into his harvest. Now, Jesus isn't saying that as an excuse to not preach the
gospel. He's saying, look, go preach the gospel. But he's saying also pray. Pray for more harvesters
to come, walk in boldness and actually be sent out in places that you can't go because there's only
one of you. There's only one of me. Go your way. Behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst
of wolves. Carry no money bag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road, whatever your house
enter first say peace be to this house and if a son of peace is there your peace will rest upon him but if not
it will return to you and remain in the same house eating and drinking what they provide for the laborers
to serve his wages so he goes in a little bit more detail but basically what he told the 12 disciples
in the last chapter whenever you enter a town and they receive you eat what is set before you
heal the sick in it and say to them the kingdom of god has come near to you but whenever you enter
town and they do not receive you go into the streets and say even the dust of your town
that clings to our feet we wipe off against you nevertheless
know this that the kingdom of God has come near. I tell you it will be more bearable on that day
for Sodom than for that own town. That is a very bold statement. We're about to break that down here
in a second. But I love that that Jesus is like, man, wipe the dust off your feet because it's not
up to us to save people. And I think that's again, another comforting thing about preaching the
gospel. It's not up to me. The Holy Spirit does the work. We plant the seeds. We water the seeds,
but God brings the increase. And so it's like, look, if they don't receive it, it's not
your fault. You did your job. You told them the gospel. Okay, keep moving. There's
other people that need to hear it. I think it's just a powerful statement.
Now we're about to understand what Jesus is saying.
He says, woe to you, chores in.
What do you, Besseda?
For the mighty works done in you.
If they had been done in Tyre and Siddin,
they would have repented long ago sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
Now, Tyran Sitten were known as just insanely unrepentant cities.
Like they were just totally wicked cities.
And he's saying, look, if I had done the same things
that I've done in y'all cities and their cities,
these unrepented cities, these cities that are doomed to judgment before God,
yet they would have repented a long time ago is what he's saying.
He says, but it will be more bearable in the judgment day for tyrants sitting than for you.
That's crazy.
He's saying these insanely unrighteous wicked cities,
it's going to be less of a harsh judgment on them that it is for you
because you're rejecting the new covenant is what he's saying.
And you, Copernum, will you be exalted to heaven?
You shall be brought down to Hades.
the one who hears you, hears me, and the one who rejects you, rejects me, and the one who
rejects me, rejects him who sent me.
The 72 returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name.
Now, this just probably encouraged Jesus so much, and he said to them, I saw Satan fall like
lightning from heaven.
What an encouragement.
He's already been defeated.
That is an encouragement to you and I.
And Satan's already been defeated.
He's a loser.
Satan's a doo-do-butt.
He ain't got nothing on us.
he's already been defeated and Jesus saw him fall like lightning.
You guys know how fast lightning strikes?
That's how fast he fell.
Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and all over the power
of the enemy and nothing shall hurt you.
So not only did he see Satan fall, but he gives us as believers the power to conquer
the enemy, conquer the devil, the spirit of the God gives us strength to say no to
temptation.
Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your
names are written in heaven.
And then he says, look, listen, at the end of the day, don't become prideful that spirits listen to you because they're actually not listening to you.
They're listening to the Spirit of God.
And he's like, look, don't get prideful.
Just be glad that your names are written in heaven.
That's what we should rejoice in at the end of the day.
And I think it's such a powerful statement.
Jesus rejoices in the Father's one.
He takes a moment.
It says in that same hour, he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit.
He just takes a moment with God and says, I thank you, Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and understanding and
revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. So the will of the
father is that his children, that the people of God recognize that He's the Christ. And he's saying,
look, in this time period, those that understand I'm the Messiah, a grace be to God. Because it's
your will that your children know that it's me. All things have been handed over to me by my father,
and no one who knows who the son is except the father or who the father is except the son.
Anyone to whom the son chooses to reveal him. Then turn to the disciples, he privately said,
blessed are the eyes that see what you see. He says,
blessed are you because you're looking at me. He said, I tell you that many prophets and
kings desire to see what you see and did not see it and to hear what you hear and did not hear.
He says, look, there are so many people that anticipated the coming of me.
He says, praise me to God that you guys are the ones that get to see me.
I mean, look at even in Luke chapter's one and two.
When we saw that promise, where God promised was Zacharias, I think.
Let's flip there really quick.
God promised
I think it was Zachariah
Zachariah I believe
Let's see
Um
Yes he
Oh sorry
Simeon
God promised Simeon
That he would see the Messiah
Before he died
Think about that
All the prophets have old
Have been prophesied about this Messiah
And Simeon here is thinking
All right I'm doing the rich
The purification rituals
For newborn babies
And the temple and everything
And he holds up the Messiah
And the Lord reveals it in
That he's seeing the Messiah
And he goes
Now I can depart
peace. You guys remember that in Luke chapter two? It's powerful. He's like, look, there's so many people
that have anticipated this and you guys get to lay your eyes on the Messiah. Now we're about to close
chapter 11 with this long story here, but it's powerful. And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to
the test saying, teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said to him, what is written in
the law? How do you read it? So the lawyer says, man, what does it look like to have a life that's
honoring to God? And Jesus says, well, what does the law say? And again, Jesus summed up the entire law,
613 laws and 10 commandments with this statement that the lawyer is about to repeat.
He says, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your strength, with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.
And he said this to him, you have answered correctly, do this and you will live.
He's like, that is a life honoring to God.
But he, desiring to justify himself to Jesus said, and who is my neighbor?
So he's like, love your neighbor as yourself.
He's like, who is my neighbor?
Who is your neighbor?
Is it someone that just is always kind to you 24,
seven is your neighbor someone that always does favors for you?
Is your neighbor someone that you owe a favor back to?
So it was like, that's the only reason you're kind of them?
Or is your neighbor only someone that's the same ethnicity as you?
No, actually.
We're about to learn this here in the story.
Jesus says a man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and he fell among robbers
who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead.
Now, by chance, a priest was going down that road, a priest.
Someone who was practicing religion.
frequently.
And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side, ignored him.
So likewise, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
But a Samaritan, a Samaritan as he journeyed came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion.
He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine, and he set him on his own animal and brought him to an end and took care of him.
And the next day, he took out two denari and gave them to the innkeeper and said, take care of him.
And whatever more you spend, I'll repay you when I come back.
Which of these three do you think prove to be the neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?
He said, the one who showed him mercy.
And Jesus said, you go and do likewise.
It doesn't matter what walk of life people come from.
It doesn't matter what ethnicity they are.
It doesn't matter what their past looks like.
It doesn't matter what religion they are.
Jesus says, man, show no partiality to him.
The Bible teaches us that the goodness of God actually brings man to repentance.
So when we show the heart of the father to people,
And it's actually going to motivate people to go, man, what's different about you, man?
Why are you different?
Why are you treating me like this?
And that's when we get to share the love of Jesus.
Man, First Peter 315 says, be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks for the hope inside of you.
People are going to ask, man, what makes you so different?
But do it with what?
Do it with gentleness and respect, First Peter says.
Now, as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.
And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching.
But Martha was distracted with much service.
serving. And she went up to him saying, Lord, do you not care what my sister, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?
Tell her to help me. But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things.
But one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.
And the Lord's teachings and his words are eternal. Although heaven and earth may pass away,
his word will always remain the same. And I think in today's day and age, we can often busy ourselves with
work with things that are perishing. And it's not to say, man, you know, I believe God calls us
to work hard at the things before us at school, at work, at things like that. But he's like,
look, sometimes we can distract ourselves with these things. But he's like, man, you're so
anxious and troubled about just serving. But he's like, man, you would really be tending to your
heart right now if you prioritize my teachings. And I think in today's day and age, when we
prioritize the Lord and his teachings and his love, we will naturally
serve others. Servanthood and serving others doesn't have to be burdensome.
And oh, where's my help? Where's my help? Because when we actually love the Lord and listen
to his teachings, it's all overflow. Guys, I pray that Luke chapter 10 bless you guys. I love you guys.
