What's going on, guys. Welcome back to another episode of the Bryce Crawford podcast. I'm Bryce. And today, really excited for this episode. Don't know how long it is. It's going to be a fun one, a powerful one, I think, especially for our generation. We're going to talk about sexual sin. And it's going to be good. Before we get started, I don't know if the merch is out, but if it is, go to Jesus and the street.com, support us there and ways to support our ministry in the description below. Now, let's get into it. Sexual, sexual sin has got to be something that has attacked our generation, extreme.
heavily. It was something that attacked me at a very young age. And I want to talk about sexual sin
and how to combat sexual sin because it's powerful and we just need to get down to the nitty gritty
here. All right. So let's just go to a few verses. Let's go to a few verses and we're going to
talk about it. All right. Now, before we get into it in the Old Testament, there was this queen. And her
name was Jezebel, all right? And Queen Jezebel was an awful queen. And if you ever hear anyone say the
spirit of Jezebel, they're talking about the spirit of manipulation and the spirit of sexual sin.
So when someone says the spirit of Jezebel or call something or someone's spirit of Jezebel,
they're saying sexual sin is overtaken them, manipulation has overtaken them is what they're saying,
because that is the epitome of Queen Jezebel in the Old Testament. And it's crazy how sexual
sin often goes after forerunners of the faith. Queen Jezebel was trying to kill Elijah the prophet in the Old
Testament. And did you know that the spirit of Jezebel is actually what gets John the Baptist killed in
the New Testament? If you read Mark chapter 6 or in Matthew 14 and we see the death of John the Baptist,
John the Baptist goes to King Herod and he calls King Herod out for sexual sin. And Herod doesn't like
that so he throws John the Baptist in jail. He knows he can't kill John the Baptist because the people
love him. So he throws him in jail.
Then later on, he comes in, he has a birthday party, and this lady comes in and does a strip tease for him.
And King Herod says, I'll give you anything you want up to half of my kingdom because of a strip tease.
And what is her response?
She says, I want John that Baptist's head on a platter.
She could have gotten up to half the kingdom because she did a strip tease on King Herod.
But her response was, I don't want anything except John the Baptist killed.
I want his head on a platter and I want you to deliver it to me.
Now, how is it that the spirit of Jezebel kills John the Baptist?
It wasn't that John the Baptist did anything wrong.
But it's the fact that sexual immorality and manipulation got King Herod to flip a switch in his brain and said, all right, fine.
John the Baptist is yours.
And he beheads John the Baptist because of that.
And so as Christians today, I'm not just saying that.
It's just for pastors and leaders.
I'm saying as Christians, it's easy for Christians to fall to sexual sin because Jezebel is after Christians.
Jezebel is after forerunners of the faith.
Jezebel is after you and me. Now, it may sound scary saying that, but the beautiful thing about this is,
is the finished work of the cross of Jesus and the blood of Jesus surpasses any spirit that's not of God coming at us.
All right. Now, let's check out some verses here. All right. A lot of people ask me, Bryce, how do I fight sexual sin?
And the answer to fighting sexual sin is actually you don't get in the boxing ring with it at all.
First Corinthians 6 says flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside of the body.
but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you,
whom you have from God?
You are not your own, for you are bought with a price, so glorify God in your body.
It's powerful.
A lot of people think, oh, well, you know, I can step in the boxing ring with sin.
I'll try to fight sexual sin.
But Paul in 1 Corinthians says,
you don't even want to get in the boxing ring with sexual sin.
You want to run us far away from it.
Paul says actually when it comes to sexual sin to run the opposite direction as fast as you can.
Don't even entertain it.
Don't even look at it.
Run the opposite direction is what he says.
And then why does he say that?
He says that sexual sin is the only sin that's the sin against your own body.
What does Paul mean by that?
When we commit sexual sin, we're actually devaluing ourselves and our identity in Jesus.
And we're putting ourselves below that.
we're actually surrending ourselves to the desires of the world.
So when we sin against our own body, we're saying, actually, my body is really not that worth it.
So I'm just going to do sexual sin.
Like it's just we're devaluing our worth in Jesus Christ as a temple of His Holy Spirit.
And then he says that later on.
He says, your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit.
And he says, you're not your own.
You were bought with a price.
So glorify God with your body.
That's powerful.
That's powerful to think about.
we were bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ
and because we have been given a new body
and a new life in Jesus Christ
we should glorify him with it
now listen I gotta say something
and I gotta be careful when I say this
because someone could totally clip this up
and make me sound like a weirdo
look the beautiful thing about Jesus Christ
is that Jesus Christ forgives all sin
and wipes our slate clean
so this episode about sexual sin
if you're thinking about sexual sin that you've done
or anything like that
God's not condemning you for it
if you come to him and you ask him for forgiveness.
Like Jesus Christ will forgive you.
If you have committed sexual sin, if you commit sexual sin, he will forgive you.
But the beautiful thing about the cross is that if our eyes are continuously on him,
then all this sin down here doesn't have to have an effect on us because our eyes are up there.
All right?
Now, I'm not saying that as an excuse to say, oh, you can go do whatever and then just go back to Jesus to forgive you.
That's not what I'm saying.
I'm saying, if you so happen to sin, Jesus Christ will forgive your slate.
That goes for any sin.
If you so happen to sin, he will forgive you.
That's the good news of the gospel.
Now, I love Romans 13 because it's powerful.
Romans 13, 14 says, put on the Lord Jesus Christ
and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires.
Every day when I wake up, I have to put my crowd of prine down
and I have to pick up my crown of righteousness and say,
Jesus, I want to look at people the way you see them.
I want to talk like you and I want to live like you.
And so when Paul says put on the Lord Jesus Christ, every day you have to pick up your cross and follow him.
Every day you have to commit yourself to the Lord and say, God, I am a believer in Jesus Christ, but I'm committing my life and my heart to you and I'm going to walk you out today and live you out and be a living epistle of your love for people today.
You have to commit yourself to him.
And so when you put on the Lord Jesus Christ and you are wearing Jesus Christ boldly, then sin has no effect on you.
it doesn't matter because you were just dripping with the oil of the Holy Spirit or you were so soaking in his presence and so overwhelmed by God's love that it doesn't matter what's coming your way.
You were just in awe of who he is in His holiness and you were just walking and breathing the living gospel.
So when Paul says put on Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires, the gratify his desires is powerful because that means that once the desire is quenched,
at some point that longing for it may come back.
So you might think, oh, well, if I have this unction to do something sexual,
maybe if I do the sexual thing, then the desire will go away.
Paul's like, no, when you feed that desire, it's going to make you more hungry for that thing.
And that hunger is going to come back stronger and stronger and stronger.
And the way we do that and stop doing that is starving ourselves from that sin.
and how do we starve ourselves from sexual immorality?
Fleeing from it.
We flee from it.
We don't entertain it.
We don't even remotely get in the boxing ring.
If you get in the boxing ring with sexual sin,
you've already lost because Paul says to run from it.
Run from it, flee from it, don't entertain it.
Surround yourself with people that care about your heart more than feeding your sexual needs.
Surround yourself with people that care about uplifting you and edifying your soul
than they do about getting something from you physically.
That's what you need to do.
Second Timothy says,
flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness,
faith, love and peace,
along with those things who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
We should be seeking the things above.
And this isn't like, like guys,
this isn't a condemnate,
like this isn't me coming on here and condemning you guys,
but this is just an eye-opener here.
All right?
When we feel like we want to do something sexual,
like the sin is not in the temptation of it.
The sin is in the actual doing of the sexual sin.
temptations are thrown at us every day.
And when temptations are thrown at us every day, you can deny the temptation.
You can say no to it.
The sin is in the action of it, not the temptation of it.
And so if we're acting on it, then we have to say, okay, well, we got to do something.
We may have to change things that we consume, right?
You guys may not think this, but like the movies that you guys watch, the people you follow on social media, the music you listen to you, may not think it has an effect on your sexual sin history, but it might.
It might.
And you know what's crazy is we have to uproot the sin issue.
This isn't just like a, hey, you better stop doing it.
That's not what I'm getting at.
We got to find the root.
Do you know what started my sexual sin journey?
I'm getting fully blunt here.
No one ever forgets how they're introduced to an addiction or sin.
I got introduced to sexual sin.
When I was in the fifth or sixth grade,
I got exploited to a pornography video when I was on the beach on vacation through somebody else.
Some random kid came up to me and exploited me to it.
That's the root of my sexual sin issue.
That was the root of it for such the longest time and then God set me free.
So this is a reflection for you right now.
What is the root of your sexual sin issue?
If you struggle with sexual sin, there is a root.
Whether it's something happened to you when you were younger,
or whether you were exploited to something else,
or something terrible has happened to you,
no one ever forgets how they were introduced.
Now the beautiful thing about this is Jesus Christ can uproot that,
kill that root and give you new life and new perspective of your worth and value.
Because at the end of the day,
just like Paul said in Corinthians, the reason that we commit sexual sin and it's the center
on our own body is because we're actually devaluing our own worth. And there's a reason why
God made sex for marriage. It's not just because God doesn't want us to have fun. Sex inside of
marriage is a beautiful connection between two souls. And so a lot of people struggle nowadays today
that people that have had sex with multiple people outside of marriage is they feel this deep soul
connection to that person and they feel hurt by that person's actions even if they don't talk to
them anymore. You know, whether they see them actually dating someone now and you had a one-night
stand with something. You're like, why does that happen? It's because sex creates this intimate
connection with someone's soul. And it's so powerful. And these soul ties can deeply hurt and affect
our heart. But Jesus Christ can set us free from the soul ties, uproot the roots, the sin
issues in our heart, and give us new life and new perspective. God can reduce it. God can
redeem anyone. I've seen God redeem adult film stars. I've seen God redeem what people in today's
society would consider the worst of the worst sinners. God can redeem anyone because his spirit is fresh and new
and gives a clean slate to anyone who wants it with a pure heart like it says in Second Timothy.
In order to flee the youthful desires, you have to seek faithful, faith, love, and righteousness with what?
With a pure heart. At the end of the day, if you want to get rid of second,
sexual sin, it's because you're seeking Jesus with a pure heart and you're tired of the way that you feel the guilt and shame and everything about sexual sin.
If you want to give up sexual sin, it's going to come down to you.
It is.
It is going to come down to you.
Because at the end of the day, this isn't just about sexual sin.
You don't have to be bound to anything that you don't want to be bound to because the Bible says on John 8, who in the sun sets free is free indeed.
You can be totally free if you don't want to be bound to anything that you're bound to.
but it's up to you.
So I'm going to pray for you guys.
And we're just going to ask God to set us free.
If you really want Jesus to set you free from sexual immorality,
we're going to pray that Jezebel stops influencing you and manipulating you.
We're going to pray that God gives you a hunger for faith, love, and righteousness.
We're going to pray that God forgives you and gives you a clean slate.
Jesus, I thank you for my friends watching and listen to this, God.
We rebuke any spirit of Jezebel influencing anyone watching or listening to this right now.
God, we command the Spirit of Jezebel to leave.
in Jesus' name. God, will you fill that hole with your Holy Spirit? We command your blood to fall on
them, Jesus, and cleanse them. We thank you. We thank you that they love you and we thank you that
they won't change in their heart. God, will you just give them a fresh hunger for faith, love, and
righteousness with a pure heart, Jesus? Give them a pure heart like Ezekiel 36 says. God, you
transform hearts. You give people pure hearts. Continue to give them a fresh hunger for the things of heaven
and not the things of the world, Jesus. We love them. Forgive them of their sins, Jesus. We thank you, Lord. Amen.
