fall. What's going on, guys? Welcome back to another episode of the Bryce Crawford podcast. I'm
Bryson. Today, we are on Proverbs 12 out of 31 days in the Proverbs series. Guys, you know the drill.
If you want to download the tracking PDF for free, go to Jesus in the street.org slash
Proverbs to get it today. We're going to read Proverbs 12. Again, this is just a collection of wisdom
bites, and we're going to highlight the ones we think we are important, but read through together.
Let's read. First one, whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, but he who has,
hates reproof is stupid. A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of evil devices he
condemned. So wisdom is telling us, keep learning. Don't stop seeking, learning more on the word of God.
The proud man, the one of pride, who's unwilling to receive correction, reveals his or her own
rejection of knowledge. So if you're full of pride, you're going to reject the seeking and chasing of
wisdom. And wisdom says, keep learning. First three, no one is established by wickedness, but the root of
the righteous will never be moved. An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame
is like rottenness in his bones. A man can achieve success in many areas, but unless there is happiness
in the home, all other achievements feel empty, right? There's something beautiful. Proverbs talks about
not marrying a quarrelsome wife, right? So an excellent wife and all the home happiness she brings is a crown
of success, a true crown of success. The thoughts of the righteous are just, the counsels of the wicked,
deceitful. The words of the wicked
lie and wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright
delivers them. Correlation of Proverbs 1.
The wicked are overthrown and are
no more, but the house of the righteous will
stand. A lot of these proverbs
are easy to understand simple. And
if you have a hard time also while we're reading,
ask the Holy Spirit to teach you these things.
Verse 8, a man is commended according
to his good sense, but one of
twisted mind is despised.
Better to be lowly and have a servant
than to play the great man and like bread.
Verse 8, a man is commended according to his good sense.
Wise people will be recognized by their own wisdom.
The one with a crooked heart will not be praised, actually.
So those who have wisdom will be recognized by what?
Their wisdom.
But those who are wicked and crooked, they won't receive praise, and they will actually be despised.
Verse 10.
Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.
Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.
Discipline, discipline, discipline.
look at the life of the aunt again like we read in one of the earlier proverbs chapters
verse 12 whoever's wicked covets the spoil of evil doers but the root of the righteous
spirit's fruit an evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips but the righteous
escapes from trouble people trip themselves up when they lie lie lie and say this and give
false promises and this and the other but the righteous escape from trouble with a lot of
talking comes a lot of trouble oftentimes for them from the fruit of his mouth a man is
satisfied with good and the work of a man's hand come
back to him. A wise man's good, kind, and encouraging words will bring life to not only himself
but other people. The words that you speak, encouraging, kind, gentle words will not only bring
life to yourself, but will bless other people as well. The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but a wise man listens to advice. The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent
ignores an insult. A fool doesn't have the self-control to wait and let the immediate anger
He asks before he makes a response.
A fool does most things out of impulse, out of quick response,
but a wise man knows the right thing to do and when to cover the shame.
A wise man thoughtfully responds to situations
instead of making an impulsive response like the fool does.
Verse 17, whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence,
but a false witness utters deceit.
There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts,
but the tongue of the wise bring healing.
Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a.
moment. Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have
joy. Notice how these proverbs are simple to understand right now. No ill befalls the righteous,
but the wicked are filled with trouble. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord. We read that
in an earlier proverb. These six things that the Lord hates, seven are an abomination.
And lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.
A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaim folly. I love that verse.
right there. I'm highlighting that. I love that verse because it's the mark of wisdom to not always reveal
everything that we know, especially if it will harm or disgrace other people. How many times do we
receive a revelation from the Lord and then immediately tell people? We go on to social media,
make that video. We go tell everyone we know when sometimes the secret place is called the secret place
because it builds us intimate friendship and not everything the Lord teaches us. We're meant to share with
everyone but meant to keep in store in our heart. There may come a time, but we oftentimes like to act
quickly because we're like, oh my gosh, I did this, that, and the other. The hand of the diligent
will rule while the slothful will be put to forced labor. Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down,
but a good word makes him glad. Encouragement costs little from the one who gives encouragement,
but it can do enormous good for those who receive it. So what is a good word that makes your heart
glad? The gospel, the good news that we are broken, but there's someone who wasn't
broken who actually allowed his body to be sacrificed for you and I so that we don't have to be
broken we can be whole and restored and renewed and forgiven that's a good word one who is righteous
is a guide to his neighbor but the way of the wicked leads him astray whoever is slothful will not
roast his game but the diligent man will get precious wealth in the path of the righteousness life
and in its pathway there is no death guys i pray that proverbs 12 nuggets of wisdom was a blessing
