fall. What's going on, guys? Welcome back to another episode of Bryce Crawford podcast. I'm Bryce, and today we are on Proverbs chapter 8 out of 31 chapters of Proverbs the whole month of July. Today, Proverbs 8, we're just going to be reading about the blessings and benefits of wisdom. Again, we're going to read Proverbs 8. It's going to be great. Let's read verses 1 through 3 really quick about the call of wisdom, does not wisdom call, does not understanding raise her voice. On the heights beside the way, at the crossroads, she takes her stand beside the gates and front of the town. At the entrance of

the portals, she cries aloud. Solomon is written of wisdom as if it's a person, noble, beautiful, helpful, in contrast to the Amora Woman that we just read about last episode. So the woman of wisdom is actually beautiful, magnificent, helpful, noble, and the Amoural Woman is the contrast of it. And when it says she takes her stand at the crossroads beside the gates, wisdom isn't hidden. It's accessible everywhere at all times in every circumstance for all people. And wisdom is for everybody, not confined to the academics or the classroom or people with lots of money. Wisdom is accessible to anyone who will incline what their ear and heart to it as we read in Proverbs 3, 4, and 2 earlier this time. Now let's read verses 4 through 11 to hear the goodness that wisdom promises to us.

To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man. O simple ones, learn prudence. O fools, learn sense. Here, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right. For my mouth will utter truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are righteous. There is nothing twisted or crooked in them.

They are all straight to him who understands and write to those who find knowledge. Take my instruction instead of silver and knowledge rather than choice gold. for wisdom is better than jewels and all that you've made desire cannot compare with her. Wisdom doesn't give up on the simple ones. They may seem like a lost cause, but they don't have to be.

That's in verse 5. Oh, simple ones learn prudence. Oh, fools, learn sense. It's oftentimes that the simple ones give up on wisdom, but wisdom doesn't give up on those who are, quote, unquote. Simple. In verse 6, we read that when wisdom speaks, it's actually true. Nothing crooked or perverse comes from wisdom.

He speaks no, no, things. She speaks noble things. And what comes from her lips is what? Right. Then when you jump down to verse 10, take my instruction instead of silver and knowledge rather than gold, wisdom is more valuable than earthly monetary gain. And now in verses 12 through 21, wisdom is going to describe

herself. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance in the way of evil and perverted speech I hate because the fear of the Lord is submission to God's righteousness and his ways. And so if you fear the Lord, you hate evil and you love righteousness. I have counsel and sound wisdom. I have insight. I have strength.

By me, kings reign and rulers decree what is just. By me, princes rule and nobles all who govern justly. Wisdom dwells with prudence, self-control goodness, and good judgment. And to fear God doesn't mean to be neutral towards evil. Ah, maybe here and there, this isn't that. God hates evil. He hates pride, arrogance, and a perverse mouth. So don't be neutral to evil. Hate evil, just like God does and many will gain power like it says in verse 15 by me king's reign and rulers decree what is just many gain power stay in power and excessive power through gaining and using wisdom but verse 17 what does it say i love those who love me and those who seek me diligently find me those who love wisdom will find themselves rewarded by wisdom and they will not only gain wisdom but the blessings

that wisdom promises what is that riches and honor are with me and during wealth and righteousness verse 18, my fruit is better than gold, even fine gold and my yield than choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness and the paths of justice, granting an inheritance to those who love me and filling their treasuries. Versus 22 through 31 is now going to be wisdom's long history. The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of gold. God used wisdom and intelligence to design the universe. It's been around since the beginning of time. If wisdom was a person, then it would be said to have been with God and creation. Because wisdom was used to create the universe.

And Solomon actually considers many different aspects of creation and how God used wisdom and designed to arrange them all. Here we go. Ages ago, I was set up at the first before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths, I was brought forth. When there were no springs abounding with water. Before mountains had been shaped. Before the hills I was brought forth.

Before he had made the earth with its fields or the first of the dusts of the world. when he established the heavens I was there, when he drew a circle on the face of deep, when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of deep, when he assigned to the sea its limit so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then I was beside him like a master workman, and I daily was his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the children of man. This world is so marked by God's wise and good design that wisdom rejoiced in it.

Solomon just gave multiple examples of where God used wisdom in the creation of the world. And now, verses 32 and 33, Solomon's going to show how wisdom appeals for an audience. And now, oh, sons, listen to me. Bless her, those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise and do not neglect. So now that we've heard wisdom's history from the time of creation and being around with God during creation, we have a reason to listen to her. Because the devil just wants us to think that we'll lose if we listen to wisdom. yet there is a greater blessing in keeping wisdom's ways

rather than listening to this live of the devil that we're going to lose our ways by listening to wisdom. And verses 34 through close, blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors, for whoever finds me, finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord.

But he who fails to find me, injures himself all who hate me, love, death. The blessing of wisdom is not only for those who listen to wisdom, but for those who inconvenience, themselves to seek her. Magnificent. Wisdom isn't just for those who listen to it, but wisdom is also for those who inconvenience themselves, kill their flesh, deny themselves to seek wisdom out. And there's two major blessings wisdom gives. It's life and favor from God. And so if there could be a thesis

statement for Proverbs 8 is that there are blessings that come when we trust wisdom. Wisdom's been around since the beginning of time, let us trust wisdom.
