What's going on, guys? Welcome back to another episode of the Bryce Crawford podcast. I am Bryce. Today's episode, I'm really excited for it. Look, we got a little Moses. Look at him, just crawling on in the lap here. Good lap dog right here. Today, by the title of the episode,

this might be one of the most commonly asked episodes I get asked to do, talk about the end times. And I never normally want to talk about this stuff. the only reason I'm making it is because I felt a burden to talk about it. Just kind of comfort you guys, encourage you guys with the end times. It's going to be powerful. But before we get into it, I got to talk about something that I think is so amazing. If you guys see right behind me, there's a company here called Renewal Rain.

Absolutely love them. They're super tasty. We only have one. That's why I'm not sipping on one right now. But let's talk about the end times. To comfort you, the end times is described as the period in which we wait for Jesus to return a second time. So if you think about it, the apostles were in the end times.

George Washington was in the end times. Abe Lincoln was in the end times. We're in the end times. And I feel like a lot of people use the end times as a scare tactic nowadays. But in reality, the end times is the time period in which we wait for Jesus to return the second time. When Jesus came the first time in the flesh, Jesus came humbly on a donkey, was born humbly in a major,

and came to save mankind and sin. But the second time Jesus returns in the flesh, he is going to come in power and glory on a white horse like a thief in the night with a sword from his mouth, and he's going to judge the earth righteously. That means that you and I cannot hide our actions from Jesus Christ, because our life and our bodies testify against us. And we will be held accountable for every action, every word, and everything that we've done.

And that is what's going to happen the second time Jesus Christ returns. Now, there's two scriptures we're going to talk about today, about the end times. We're going to go to 2nd Timothy 3. We're going to go to Matthew 24. And we're going to talk about what the end times is going to look like, the signs, what are we going to look out for, et cetera. I'm really excited for this. And guys, by the way, hold on.

before we get into this, if you're a Christian and you're terrified of the end times, your perspective of Jesus's second return is incorrect. Your perspective of Jesus' second return should be a joyous thing, right? The sorrow in the second coming of Jesus Christ would be for nonbelievers. And so that actually places a burden on Christians for us to say, there is an importance to share the gospel. There is an importance to point people to Jesus Christ. And we're going to see in here what it looks like,

what the end times are going to look like. So here we go. Let's go to 2 Timothy 3. And if you have your Bibles open up, excuse me, you can follow along. I'm reading from the ESV translation. Paul writes, but understand this,

that in the last days, there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless,

unappeasable, slanderous without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. That is a lot. All right, let's break that down for a second. Lovers of self and lovers of money. That is letting something matter more than what matters most. That is letting something else other than Jesus Christ sit on the throne of your heart. And you know, it's crazy because nowadays the accessibility or the chances to be, the chances to be, you know, be lovers of money or lovers of self are significantly greater than they were back in the day. We have more opportunities to make as much money as you want. We have more opportunities to look

at ourselves in the mirror, look at ourselves on social media, puff our hearts off with pride. I mean, there's not another time than now. What does it say else? Proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control. Do you know what that phrase is? without self-control is godlessness in the last days with no self-control godlessness in the last day says

people are going to be without self-control that comes to their sexual desires that comes to alcohol drugs substances sin addictions they're going to be without self-control they're going to lean into the pleasure of their flesh more than they will the desires of God

and that's been happening since Jesus Christ sinned into heaven is the godlessness has been lovers of money, lovers of self, arrogant people, heartless people, and people without self-control. People that don't love good, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Here we go. This one is powerful, having the appearance of godlessness, but denying its power. People that proclaim Christ with their lips, but their hearts are far from him is what happens in the last days. Referencing false prophets here, people who are more worried

about using the name of God for their self-image and puffing themselves up and to get selfish gain, maybe to gain money from it, maybe to gain status from it, those false prophets and false teachers in the last days are going to be have the appearance of godliness, but deny its power. Avoid such people is what it says. You know what's crazy? Is in the last days since Jesus has ascended into heaven. We've had a salad bar religion, all right? where people like to go through and pick and choose what they want,

they try to adapt scripture to their life instead of adapting their life to scripture. It's all about being spiritual nowadays, but not being biblical. And we've got to return to this biblical foundation of who Jesus is, his character, and the truths. John 8, Jesus says, the truth will set you free. It's not, a little bit of this and a little bit of that will set you free. No, Jesus Christ said the truth will set you free. And so yes, spirituality is a part of religion.

Spirituality is a part of Christianity. But if we don't have a biblical foundation, then we're just a bunch of spiritual gurus doing what we want and what we please. We're adapting to the pleasures of self. I don't want to do that. We need to differentiate what is spiritual versus what is biblical here. Now, what does he say later on in 2nd Timothy 3? As for you, for the believers,

continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed. from whom you learned it, and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and for training and righteousness. That's what he's saying, biblical foundation. When all this crowd noise is going on, when there's false prophets preaching doctrine, that is what you want to hear but isn't the truth, tickling your ears, when there's a bunch

of godlessness going on, heartless people, lovers of self, lovers of money. He says, in order to continue in what is the truth and what you've believed in, know who you learned it from, and turn to the scriptures because it's breathed out by God and it's profitable for teaching, reproof, and correction, and to be trained up in righteousness. It's going to be a lot of godlessness going on in the end times. There's a lot going on right now. There's a lot of tomfoolery going on, as I like to call it.

A lot of Tom Foolery going on. Now let's go to one of the most famous passages about the end times. Matthew chapter 24, Jesus Christ is going to give an exhortation to the disciples about what is going to happen in the end times. Jesus says, see to it that no one leads you astray. Let's talk about the false prophets. People that are going to teach you doctrine that are going to lead you astray that's going to tickle your ears. You're going to hear a lot of things on TikTok, a lot of things on Instagram Reels, maybe some things in church that are going to sound amazing to your flesh. but we don't make these podcasts and we don't film street videos to get the affirmation of man

we want to offend your brain to get to your heart and that's what scripture does scripture is profitable for teaching reproof and righteousness and there's going to be a lot of people that are going to teach a lot of stuff that they want to hear a lot of stuff that you want to hear more people in the end times are going to be worried about keeping people in their church and keeping the lights on in their church than teach in truth even if that means people are going to walk away from the truth more people are worried about that. See to it that no one leads you astray. See that you are not alarmed for this must take place but the end is not yet. Hold on. I forgot to rephrase something here. In Matthew chapter 24, there's going to be two parts to it. The beginning part is not going to be signs that you should

look out because Jesus is about to return. These are things that are already going to have been happening in the end times, which is us waiting for Jesus Christ to return a second time. Since Jesus Christ ascending in heaven. People have been teaching false doctrine. People have been saying stuff that they want that they want people to hear so that they can keep them in their building. So these are things that you should be on the lookout that we shouldn't be

surprised of. He says there's going to be people that are going to teach false doctrine. He says don't be alarmed. These must take place but the end is not yet. We're going to get to what Jesus says is going to happen when he is going to return. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom and there will be famines

and earthquakes in various places. All of these are but the beginning of the birth pains. We've been in the birth pains. We've experienced the birth pains. The tragedies that have occurred with Israel and Gaza, the tragedies that have occurred in Russia and Ukraine, the tragedies of wars in Iran and Iraq, there's a lot of wickedness going on.

It's sin. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my namesake. Jesus at this time is speaking to the disciples, warning them about persecution. He's like, you better love me unto death because the second I ascend into heaven,

people are going to try to kill you, they're going to mock you, they're going to make fun of you, they're going to slander your name because you follow me. And that's a warning we should have as believers. People are going to slander you, they're going to mock you, and there are even people now where their lives are threatened for the gospel, not only in America but all over the world. Persecution will come.

And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. one talks about how those who love God will endure till the end. Do not be fooled by the persecution. Do not be intimidated by the persecution that will come being a Christ follower. Do not be intimidated. Satan's trying to get flashy. All right. He's going to send people your way to mock you, slander you, maybe your life's on the line, wherever you live in the world. Do not be tempted to fall away because those who love him will endure until the end. And because lawlessness will be increase the love of many will grow cold, but the one who endures till the end will be saved.

And this is the gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. So the gospel has to reach all the nations. Now, getting into verse 15 and chapter 24, Jesus is going to describe the signs to look for when he's going to return here. So when you see the abomination of the desolation spoken by the prophet of Daniel, there's a prophecy in Daniel 11 where Jesus talks about the abomination of desolation. I'm still personally, to be transparent with you, trying to figure out exactly what that means. So I cannot speak or teach on what the abomination of desolation exactly is. But just to correlate you, it's in Daniel 11.

Okay, just so you guys know. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let the one who is on the house top, and I'll go down to take what is in his house. We're talking about an idol being set in a holy place. Here we go in verse 21. For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning. of the world until now, no, and never. There is going to be a tribulation like never before seen.

And if those days have not been cut short, no human being will be saved. Then if anyone says to you, look, here's the Christ, there he is, did not believe it. For false Christ and false prophets will arise and perform great signs. Jesus is going into detail here. He's saying when the tribulation happens, okay? My return is not going to be sneaky to the point where no one's going to know what's happening. but it's not going to be flashy enough like everyone's going to know what's happening. They describe it in the Gospels that he's going to come like a thief in the night.

He says, for as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will the coming of the son of man, boom, he's going to come back. And when Jesus Christ comes back, all eyes are going to lay on Jesus Christ. And in that moment, whether you believe or not, every human being is going to witness the glory of the king, Jesus Christ. And when we stand before him on Judgment Day, the people that have decided not to put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ are going to look at Jesus and they're going to experience his glory for a moment. And the reason hell separation from God is going to feel awful for nonbelievers is because they've gone their whole physical life without believing in him. And when they stand before him on judgment day, even though their life is holding them accountable for their sins, they're going to witness his glory for a moment, realize what they missed out on.

and they're going to be separate from him for an eternity. That's why there's a burden to reach your friends, your neighborhoods, co-workers, anybody in the street with Jesus Christ. Then, when Jesus Christ returns, we're going to meet him up in the air one day. And our lives are going to hold him accountable. We're going to see him.

And here's my greatest concern about the end-time scares that are on the internet. If someone tells you the date, the time, the month that Jesus is going to return, immediately throw that in the garbage. Matthew 2436, concerning the day and hour, no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the son himself knows. Only God the Father knows the day and hour which Jesus Christ will return. And you have all these prophets and people that say Jesus Christ is returning in October of 2025.

I don't know all this random stuff. It's a bunch of baloney. It frustrates me. Those guys are tickling your ears. It's a scare tactic. do not listen to that. No one knows the day or the hour. I don't care what anyone says.

Only God the Father knows. Jesus Christ himself doesn't even know when he's coming. There is no knowledge to when Jesus Christ returns to the point. It says in verse 40, two men will be in a field. One will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the millstone. One will be taken and one will be left. Therefore, stay awake.

For you do not know what day your Lord is coming. It's interesting because when the apostles talk about, the end times. They don't preach the end times as if Jesus Christ is coming on a specific date. They preach the end times like, we don't know when he's coming back. He could come back tomorrow. He could come back next month a year from now, 10 years from now. Regardless, if we're living it, if we're walking out the faith of Jesus Christ, we're ready. So be ready. Being ready for the return of Jesus Christ looks like submitting yourself to him, loving him, seeking him out, putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. That's what being prepared for the end times looks like. Not like,

oh Jesus Christ is coming in October so I have till October till September 15th to do whatever I want. Then when September 15th comes, I got 15 days to get my life right before Jesus returns October of 2024, 2025. No, absolutely not. That's cheap grace. That's hypocrisy. I'm not going to wait till the last little bit to prep my life for Jesus Christ. Serving the Lord, submitting to Jesus Christ isn't God putting a cage of rules around me. It's not fun. Submitting to the Lord, loving Jesus Christ is the greatest decision I've ever made, leaning into. his teachings, allowing the Bible to transform my heart, has been the greatest thing I've ever done in my life. Leaning in and submitting to Jesus Christ is the best thing I've done. Matthew chapter 24,

verse 44, therefore you also must be ready for the son of man is coming in an hour. You do not expect. We don't know. We don't know when he's going to return. And I think that's the beauty of Jesus Christ. Is every morning you wake up, God could have returned that morning and he could have judged you righteously for your actions, whether you were right with him or not. So when we do not know the day or the hour that Jesus Christ is returning, that is a blessing in the grace of God for non-believers. Because you get to wake up and you have breath inside of your lungs. God has grace to you to wake up and you have the opportunity to put your faith and trust in Jesus in him. For believers, Jesus Christ's return being withheld is grace.

Why is that? We get to share the good news with people. We actually get an opportunity to bring our friends, loved ones, and people that we don't even know to know the love of Jesus Christ. We have the opportunity to do that. As believers, we get to wake up, we're graced with another day, to love people well and point them to Christ. The harvest is ripe, Jesus says, but the laborers are few. Many people are ready to submit themselves at Jesus, but not enough people are preaching the good news. And when Jesus returns, he's going to come with a sword in his mouth, and he's going to righteously judge the earth. And he's going to either say, well done, my good and faithful servant, or depart from me I never knew you.

If Jesus says, well done, my good and faithful servant, he's not saying that because you did enough good things for him to say it. He's not saying that because you went to church every Sunday. He's not saying that because you read your Bible five times through front to cover. Jesus Christ says, well done, my good and faithful servant, because you've put your faith and trust in him, despite the world of sin and wickedness you live in. If Jesus Christ says, depart from me, I never knew you,

he's saying that because you allowed something to sit on the throne of your heart other within him because you put your faith and trust in Jesus in things that are fleeting and things that will perish and things that you will leave behind when you hit the grave. My friend, there's an urgency. It's powerful. It's good. And even little Moses right here, a puppy little Moses is resting in my lap, secure knowing that Jesus Christ is Lord. It's powerful. Let me pray for you guys. I really want to. Jesus, thank you for this day, God. I thank you for this podcast. Thank you for the burden. Jesus, I pray that you will give a fresh burden to believers to share the gospel like they've never seen before. Give them a fresh boldness to tell their friends, coworkers, and people in

the street, waiters, waitresses about Jesus. God, I just thank you for nonbelievers for giving them grace to wake up despite them not putting their faith and trusting you. Will you reach those people in supernatural dreams and visions? Will you send people their way to people that we won't reach? Will you send people their way to share their love of you to them?
