Starting point is 00:00:00 It's not worth winning if you can't win there! other war ended. But I never forgot, and I came to this place often when no one else does. Pan out to partisan rock with its memorial plaque, as she reads for us. In the early days of World War III, guerrillas, mostly children, placed the names of their lost upon this rock. They fought here alone and gave up their lives so that this nation should not perish from the earth. My God, Brandon, beautiful worlds from Erica. I love this movie, Brandon. I don't think I, this movie hit a little too close to home.
Starting point is 00:01:10 So, okay, so I have to say this before we get into it, Brandon, because I don't think I, like, I've always been, like, told you I'm excited to do this movie, but I don't think I ever told you, like, how much I actually, like, love this movie and the remake, like, you know how. Oh, I've never seen the remake. I was looking at the remake on like IMDB and it is because it came out like what 2010 yes and it is all of the 2010 cheesiness and it has the perfect 2010 cast yeah like it's got uh Chris Hemsworth I think Josh Peck is in the fucking movie so uh it's just like anybody that you can think of when I say as an actor when I say 2010 they're in that fucking movie. So I was going to wait for this after my monologue. We'll get back to my monologue in a second. But this, uh, Josh Pat. So I also just love that movie too. Like I love the remake as
Starting point is 00:02:10 well. It is not good. I like it's, I just think it's just one of those cheesy movies that I fucking love. You know what I mean? I have so many of those. You know my movie taste. It's not great. But there's these weird movies that I just fucking love. And that's one of them because I think I just love this movie so much, but for the love of God, it could have been a great movie, but Josh Peck and his facial expressions are the worst goddamn thing you could ever imagine. Like if you could write like all film courses and all like courses in college for future actors should play his facial expressions in that class of what not to do. Like, what should you not do in highly dramatic scenes, which is make the most godforsaken ass-nine overacted faces in the weather?
Starting point is 00:03:01 Erica! For the listeners, I'm making insane faces. But, like, it just, it drives me nuts. But every other part of the movie, I fucking just, it's, I love it. So along those lines, the crying in this movie was. So good. We talked about it in Dawson's Creek when the, when, uh, what's his name, uh, was coming out. And, uh, he's all that crying. Uh, that was rough. This was just as rough, dude. It was so bad. The fake crying between between Swayze. And I love, I, I, I fucking love Patrick Swayze. Who, how can you not love the Sways, man? Dude, he's, he's a legend. He's my, probably, I, he's probably my favorite actor of all time. I fucking love Patrick Swayze. Name something he did that was bad. nothing exactly nothing even movies like this that are that are like you said super fucking cheesy
Starting point is 00:03:57 he still he still crushes it tread lightly because i actually as we watch this i was like dude is this actually one of my favorite movies like i watch it like it's one of my i think i watch it once a year yeah like usually like so the monologue i was gonna go on brady like you know the roman empire thing that was like the craze a couple years ago like that everybody thinks about roman empire Or guys think about Roman Empire. So I never got that. I was never a Roman Empire. There's not a chance I've ever thought of the Roman Empire unless somebody brought it up.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Not once, right? Like not in it may be like more of a Byzantine guy. Jesus Christ, when Gladiator, it went Mulan, right? Like the Mongolians, absolutely. Yeah, speaking of the Mongolians. I do. I loved that that's how the scene opened up that they were talking about the Mongolians sounding They waste no fucking time in this movie.
Starting point is 00:04:47 within five minutes they kill the teacher and a kid right out the get go right out the gate hold we'll get into the movie a second let me go so that roman empire this is my roman empire like this movie is my roman empire red dawn is my roman empire where you would be mortified at the amount of times i think about like okay what happens when like when i was younger i was much more like you know thinking that I could be a wolverine in my mind. Now it's a bit more. So it's your Roman Empire, not necessarily thinking about the movie, just thinking about you're placing yourself in this situation.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Constantly. Okay. Like in every location that I've lived since then. And I have lived in eight different locations since this movie. You live in this location now. Yeah. Yeah. It's absolutely like it's.
Starting point is 00:05:43 You're not that far. Do you know, Omaha gets wiped out. Do you hear that? Omaha Kansas City Yeah I mean Omaha first on the list Get that fucking shit out of here Well off at Air Force Base
Starting point is 00:05:53 You know It's a it's a big in But uh you're Important stuff there You're uh I have a whole breakdown Of exactly where this is Oh dude but I
Starting point is 00:06:02 So anyways Brandon I want to figure out exactly How far away you are But yeah This this movie Red Dawn is my You're a quick
Starting point is 00:06:11 33 minute jump Dude From the from the free zone No from wow the so it's the the town calumet uh Colorado fictional although in the like the early 1900s there was a calumet Colorado yeah but it's uh it was a it was a mining town and it became a ghost town real quick and it's in southern Colorado um the only real location tidbit they give you because they met like you said they mentioned Omaha they mentioned Denver a few times but they
Starting point is 00:06:41 never say how far away they actually are yeah the only tidbit of not of uh location is when the guys when the guys are misreading the sign uh because they're at they're in the arapaho national forest which is up by grandby uh and grand lake like grandby um so yeah you're you're a 30 minute 30 minute drive from there bud so yeah but brandon this a a red dawn situation a red dawn scenario happening in real life is my roman empire i think about it all the time i think about how I would survive. I think about where I would go, who I would form, you know, like how I would execute. It's been pretty, like on the coast, it gets pretty bleak, right?
Starting point is 00:07:25 Like Seattle, we're double-facked, you know, Savannah probably like any of the port cities toast, right? I was, I would thrive on the coast, dude. You think so? Oh, man, I feel like here in the Midwest of itself. I'd get myself a little houseboat, just fucking sail out, dude. I was, you wouldn't, I wouldn't be a resistance fighter. I would lie, dude, I've, what, come on, you got a guerrilla with these guys. Come on, Brandon.
Starting point is 00:07:51 It becomes, if your family and friends were all getting murdered in front of you, you're telling me that, like, something wouldn't snap in you. Come on. Something would snap in me, but I'm not fighting for the USA. I'm fighting for the nation of Brandon. I'm on my own, baby. Well, you, you, you fight guerrilla style to, to avenge them, Brandon. Dude, fuck that, dad.
Starting point is 00:08:13 You must avenge them. he come on he just he literally two seconds before he goes on that weird fucking screaming thing he told them don't cry for me i'm dead it's over and then then three seconds later as they're leaving he screams avenge me that i will i will say the dad monologue in the remake is a lot better it's it's it's really good like i'm like you should just watch the remake honestly really like well you should just go watch the remake and i wonder if there's a i wonder if there's a connection find the connection because it's and i'm so like literally after we watched this i was like shit so i own the remake on blu-ray nice and so like literally we watched this and i was like
Starting point is 00:09:00 damn it i don't think i took all my i took all my um you know media my my physical media back to my parents house when i did a run to go pick up baby stuff you know it's like hey we got to start swapping out things things for other things before you go too far I don't know if we've actually said the name of the movie oh shit yeah oh my god yeah sorry dude
Starting point is 00:09:25 we are uh this is the kick you get on excited yeah yeah this the king here's podcast uh I'm Brandon that's Heath and we are doing uh Red Dawn the 1984 original Red Dawn his favorite movie dude I think it might be in the top five now I don't think it can be like the
Starting point is 00:09:42 I cheat and I just the Lord of the Rings trilogy extended edition I include all three movies as my favorite movie because I don't know you know like they I feel like that counts right yeah yeah because like I why I do an extent I when I back when I was just you know a young lonely you know degenerate I used to do a quarterly extended edition watch and I would do it like good i'd have like my gandolph you know um apparatus with me and i would just you know load up on some i wouldn't i wouldn't do hobbit food you know it was more dominoes but it was my god when they had the five dollar mediums you don't think you don't think hobbits eat pizza i mean yeah i guess you know i just have you seen on like tic talk with like the the like the people that do like the food with the lord
Starting point is 00:10:35 of the rings some of the stuff is very cool where they do like eleven zies and breakfast and second breakfast and all that stuff it's classic classic it's good stuff so i imagine it's a lot of potatoes yeah it's good a lot of a lot of roughage right like some some some root vegetables you know um a lot of charcuttery you know you get some some some some charcutte in there uh but yeah anyways anyways um but like i this gets a yearly watch for me it's especially like when i still had HBO it was like i would just be you know like when you're like, all right, I'm going to put something on the TV while I'm milling around and, and then I'm like, ah, you know what?
Starting point is 00:11:17 It's been about a year since I've watched Red Dawn. Let me just fire this bad boy on here. And, and I love it. And our boy, Coach Riley, the mayor. There's a few. There's a few podcast connections, I should say, not necessarily Ducks connections. Obviously, Lane Smith, Coach Riley, plays coach Riley. Darry's dad.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Doing Red Dawn. My God. What a great movie. And then we have Charlie Sheen, Carlos Estevez, Emilio's brother. And then the dude who plays the, what's his name, Andy, Colonel Andy? The dude who plays Colonel Andy. Yeah. That's Powers Booth, who, if you remember, was the bad guy from sudden death with John
Starting point is 00:12:02 Claude Van Dam. Oh, that's right. Dude, I have been on a. tear of watching these 80s movies like Red Don I watched fucking Blade I watch Blade Runner on the plane mistake all of a sudden like I literally
Starting point is 00:12:19 woke up and I was like oh shit there's boobs on the screen and I fast forwarded really quick because it was like one of those I you know you forget sometimes that every 80s movie is just random it's like oh oh boobs real quick for you guys but dude I've been watching and I'm about to get into
Starting point is 00:12:35 Time Cop is on Prime Kickboxers on Prime I rewatch Time Cop a couple of weeks ago. Nice. How is it? Oh, it's so good. Yeah. It's so fucking good.
Starting point is 00:12:46 What's her name is amazing? The girl from Ferris Bueller. Oh, yeah. Dude, and this. This cast is incredible. I mean, like, so we've mentioned Patrick Swayze. He's the lead. We have a little Carlos Estevez, Charlie Sheen.
Starting point is 00:13:05 We had C. Thomas Howell rocking the Star Wars hat. see that oh dude the bit oh yeah you know i made a note of that the flipped up bill with it too do you remember when that was like a thing for a second and then we have uh then we got uh lea thompson and of course jennifer gray lea thompson dude jennifer nobody puts baby in a corner jennifer gray is probably my my top 80s babe of all time yeah i mean her and lea thompson are incredible that's it when and when the grandpa's like i got a couple family heirlooms that i need to pass on to you boys i forgot i forgot i forgot i forgot that's how they got them and i was like airlobes is he like giving them more guns or something and then he pops it open and it's them
Starting point is 00:13:51 oh my and then uh i one of my favorite one of my favorite things that made me laugh so much was it's lea thompson so she's been yep this whole thing's gone awry she uh the the grandpa said it took him two weeks to sneak over no it's i thought it was like a week or two days it took them two days to sneak over yeah two days to sneak out but two days to sneak out but by the time that the group gets to that grandpa it's been five weeks of yes of war three so she's been trapped in that basement for five weeks right yeah then she gets out they're going whatever they're listening to the radio he gave them it's great so that she's she's experiencing the war for five fucking weeks now yeah they're listening to the radio and the
Starting point is 00:14:37 radio's doing like the weird code uh like you know code whatever and she sits there and she goes man things are different now so yeah it's been five weeks girl what a weird it made me laugh so much you're you're we've been in the thick of this for a while girl it's it's different it's you have to you have to quit hating on that transition the transitions were so good bradden oh i just everything about this 80s movie is fantastic everything is great and like the fact that the sways and freaking jennifer gray are reunited they're not just dirty dancing brand they're dirty dancing with some fucking commies brother would she come on that's a good ticot quote right there you put that shit dirty dancing with some commies you're welcome i did this was the perfect uh
Starting point is 00:15:32 like encapsulation of what people thought communism was in the 80s just like oh it was so i loved i loved the way they explained like how it unfolded a little bit too that like it was just the worst wheat harvest and so the so i wrote this down i got the i have the the scroll here so yeah so it starts with um this is the very the very first thing of the of the movie we don't get this is before the opening credits it just has like a little scroll yeah it says uh yeah soviets suffer the worst wheat harvest in 55 years yeah labor and food plunging it into chaos labor and food riots and poland and then the soviets invade poland yeah uh cuba nicaragua they uh gather up 500 000 troops and then they go they take over el salvador and honduras yeah um the green party takes over uh
Starting point is 00:16:28 west germany and says get all the fucking nukes out of europe yeah And then we have revolution in Mexico. NATO dissolves and the United States stands alone. Boom. What a way to intro it, Brandon. It's and then we the planes are like flying through the crowds. Did you pick up on that? Like it's like, oh, dude, it was incredible.
Starting point is 00:16:52 It's so what a start. Yeah. And then we come in. Yeah. And then it's a fucking, yeah, the, the parachutes drop in on the high school in the middle of nowhere. When the Swayze drops Charlie Sheen off and they showed the scoreboard. It's like, yeah, just lost the big game. It is like, you lost football games too, if I remember correctly.
Starting point is 00:17:16 I love how Charlie Sheen's like, I was hoping they would have taken that down. And so he's like, no, they leave it up there on purpose to remind you that you fucking lost, dude. Fuck that up, dude. So good. oh my god and like the little dude the little town and the little main street that it felt like way in america when it showed all those pannings oh so good calumet colorado go ovarines but yeah so that that is uh they it's and they show the statue of teddy roosevelt sorry the statue of teddy roosevelt what a great what a great intro brandon come on yeah uh but yeah it takes place in
Starting point is 00:17:59 Calumet, Colorado, like I said, fictional town, but it's basically Granby. Because they're right by the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest. Nice. And then, but it was, it was filmed in New Mexico and Las Vegas, not filmed in Colorado. Just a, just a heads up. Yeah, freaking Matt, Matt and Jeb. Matt and Jed. Jed, that's what I meant.
Starting point is 00:18:21 That's what I meant. I have Jed here in my notes, and I, I think we're going to switch back and forth between Jed and Jeb, so I apologize. honestly i'm i'm shocked you didn't call him like uh you know gray or something that's it's jeb and jed is not bad you know that's not a bad yeah yeah it's cool enough well because he talks about when that when they kill the deer and they make uh see thomas howl drink the drink the blood of the deer uh he talks about how he he was reading uh what was the what were the guys names do you have that down the books he was reading about um oh i can't remember the two like uh um western pioneer
Starting point is 00:18:59 or whatever but he was named after one of them is what he mentions uh dude and freaking i don't know what movies i recognize him from oh that's what it is ben ben johnson the the old guy that gives him the um his heirlooms he is in angels in the outfield oh yeah he's the owner in angel the owner from angels in the outfield yeah i knew i recognized him from a childhood movie of mine there we go all right dude i rewatch that they finally put it on disney plus last year what a banger of a movie right here brandon just get him right here with the with the wing wave yeah dude talk about a star study cast you had little jGL you had danie glover right yeah yeah dandy glover i was yeah i always want to call him don't glover like the man close
Starting point is 00:19:52 do you see that he put he put his like handle as don glover and then he's like oh shit it's don lover classic but uh we got Danny Glover fucking Tony dances in that movie young Matthew McConaughey now Tony Danzo young Adrian Brody is in that movie what a what a movie dude what a fuck yeah dude I agree I agree but um but yeah red Don dude oh my god and then yeah they parachute in as the history teacher is talking about the Mongolians invading and getting into like their blood lust when they would see each other and they would meet and then he like gets interrupting he's like oh they're way off course and he goes outside to be like hey what's going on and the guy starts
Starting point is 00:20:38 speaking Russian and just just shoots him dead and then they're like well since we started may as well just shoot all out all these kids in the window and that can't hanging in the window dead that's wild brand they're not doing that like now like that was an incredible 80s moment where just history teacher dead kid hanging in the window like they're just attacking the high school they only got one kid in that that entire group they got one kid not a great shot that was like stormtrooper shooting the like the the amount of disorganization within this the this uh because it's it's the it's the cubans and the nicaraguan's and there's some russians in there too because the subtitle said speaks Russian yeah a lot of the but the the two main guys um
Starting point is 00:21:34 I don't know if they ever said if they were Cuban or Nicaraguan but the two the two main guys kind of run in it before the the main the like the big Russian guy gets there they were they were speaking Spanish but the the the amount of disorganization and this the like the people were just walking around freely I did love I did love when they're after they go to the fucking in the one dude's dad's like sports store and they get all the guns and everything and they're driving to the mountains and there's the roadblock and
Starting point is 00:22:05 Sway's like oh fuck he's like we got to turn off quick so they turn off they go they go through this like little farm yard or what farmland or whatever and they're going over bumps they hit that bump those poor kids in the back dude are getting thrown ragged and then he just
Starting point is 00:22:21 then he just stops in the middle of the field I was like what are you doing? Because the helicopter they stopped before the helicopter they stopped and just got out to run say we're keep the car going what do you you're not gonna and then Jennifer Gray does that later on where she's riding a bike and then she like does one of her buy her fucking bomb tricks yeah he's like riding the bike and then they start chasing her and she throws the bike and starts running stay stay on the bike what do you do what are you doing that's
Starting point is 00:22:53 I mean Brandon you don't you don't get it you've never been in a war zone before you've never been in a gorilla and i shouldn't i should never ever criticize jennifer gray she's perfect i got nobody puts baby in a corner even in war no i did love the other thing i loved was throughout the fucking movie they're constantly telling people don't fucking cry you fucking pussy don't fucking cry turn it into something else turn it into something else that was wild let it let it let it turn into something else is what so is he I was saying let it let it turn into something let it turn oh my god dude it was they did do I will say they did an incredible job at the sports store with their supplies like you know sometimes in
Starting point is 00:23:41 these movies they do a shit job they got canned everything they've got ammo they've got guns they've got bows and arrows they had so much Coca-Cola but I did love after I was I did say that I also put that my notes I was like got to have coke but I think we maybe had one more case than we needed well i love there's no such thing as bottled water back then i was going to say i loved how they i love how they they're stocking up on the fucking coke or whatever and then like you know 15 minutes later um they're like messing with the truck and they're like we don't have any water so you grabbed all that coke you can grab any fucking they have bottled water back then i'm sure they had a jug or something at the at the store
Starting point is 00:24:24 you know fill that up you know i will take that feedback brand and they should have been better about the water but otherwise they did good on the supplies like they radios well no they didn't have a radio they didn't have the rake-talkies oh they might have those i thought you were thinking i was thinking like radio radio they didn't have one of those till the grandpa gave it to them yeah and then uh um yeah they had tons of arrows of they're the the native american arrows they got what is it my favorite was in darrell's like listen as student body president i say that we go turn ourselves in like a fucking piece of shit commie brandon oh you can say i mean you because his dad is his dad is coach riley and later on when they show coach riley
Starting point is 00:25:13 talk about you know turning yourself in dude was coach riley is a freaking turn coat brandon i mean i kind of gets because he says it in in one of the scenes where he's like I'm just trying to keep you know I'm just trying to keep everybody alive which I kind of get where he's coming from but and by keeping everybody alive he gets all of the Wolverines families executed after they dig the graves of the people that the Wolverines killed when Jennifer Gray shoots the guy dude I love there was one that that scene was that that scene was incredible Brandon when they first inter misinterpret the wrong rock is like this is where the warlords like overtook and then they shoot him in the ass with the arrow and then um back to the future girl grabs his foot and then jennifer gray just like yeah but the machine gun shoots him in the back incredible everyone gets their first kill dude freaking robert i love robert that watching him descend into like the madness of war oh and when the when the colonel is like all that hate is going to eat you up and he's like it keeps me warm it's like yes robert yes there dude when i was younger and i loved that so i
Starting point is 00:26:35 think that i also maybe have watched this movie a little bit too early in my development this is one of those classics dude also kroll do you remember the movie k r u l l I've never seen it. You've talked about it before, though. I'll never forget watching some of these in Sun, Rambo, the same thing. Dude, I watched it when I was like four. But this was one of them. And I was like, yeah, I'd be robber, dude.
Starting point is 00:27:03 Wolverines. Let's go. That's who I wanted to be it when I grew up, Robert. Their like gun play, they're like gun control was wild. was wild. No, it was, but like, it was, I thought like, they were, they were just hold, they were holding the gun with one hand and just fucking, thank God, it didn't have a realistic kickback. Otherwise, we'd have some, we'd have some dislocated search holders.
Starting point is 00:27:31 I will say, I thought they actually did a good job of like showing kids that have never like shot or held guns before with no one to show them how to do it. Yeah, it was, it was good for that. Yeah. And, but they, yeah, they, they, they, they really dialed the. the kickback back yeah but so the remake the remake they i actually like what they did with the remake and that's why i wish that they would have just maybe like not cast josh from josh and drake um because that just it fucked up the whole movie is it josh uh isn't josh hutchson in that movie too
Starting point is 00:28:06 yeah like literally like it's like the perfect 2012 was when it came out yeah it's um but so they they the way they explain. Yeah, Chris Jamesworth, Josh Hutchison, Josh Peck. So instead of like this movie where the Sways is just like working, you know, at the at the department or whatever, they have Chris Hemsworth come back and he's like served overseas and like he's done serving overseas. That makes more sense. And then he gives them and it shows him giving them like training and practice. That makes sense. Yeah, and so like that I look at this look at this fucking dumb ass beanie that
Starting point is 00:28:49 Josh Peck is wearing in this poster yeah he looks like a fucking tool dude I'm telling you and he makes the worst decisions and so you just you don't even like him dude like Charlie Sheen's character is like well Josh Peck acts like he just is the yeah it just he fucks up the whole movie dude I will say Charlie Sheen uh clearly phony to in for this yeah he's uh he's his fake crying was uh was uh unbearable and then he's he's he's he's just half-hazardly given his lines not his not his best acting no chop no but it's uh it when they swazy crushing it when darrell when darrell gets caught visiting his dad and he betrays him and uh dude they they made him swallow the tracker right is that what it was yeah yeah yeah they made him
Starting point is 00:29:42 swallowed the tracker and then Charlie's like, no, Sway's he can't shoot him. He's one of us. And Robert's like, yeah, but he betrayed us. Robert didn't even think twice, dude. That's what I'm saying. He descended into the war.
Starting point is 00:30:00 It is, dude. Shout out Robert. Man, that guy was a savage, dude. That guy was a savage. It was drinking that deer blood. I think he went like, they probably got rabies, maybe. like as soon as they had him drink that blood i was like you know without like clinics or hospitals this joke may not be as funny if he gets like lime disease or something and like descends into
Starting point is 00:30:25 madness like he actually did but um but you know shout out robert he was my favorite character in the movie at the star wars hat like it's i'm telling you like robert would be your favorite young young heath was like yeah robert's a fucking badass dude with his sawed off shot dude when he's when he gets his first kill and then they show him sawed off the shotgun i was like yes robert yes you bad fucking guy dude oh my god i i do love this movie so much it's i've been waiting for us to do this it's an incredible incredible movie it's a great fucking 80s movie uh there's just nothing bad about it him running around with the sawed off shotgun and then fucking charlie sheen with the the RPGs just running around carrying those around town
Starting point is 00:31:09 their attacks and their guerrilla ambushes were incredible right and when like they when they take out the um the planes and and the colonel knocks on the window and he's like yeah i'm about to blow you up dude and then throws the i like to think incredible i like to think that was the guy that shot him down to you you know getting his full revenge that was that was a good line too when he's like what did you expect it was five on one and I took out four of them God, this movie's so good, Brandon. When he first When he first falls out of the air? What did you talk about them going on horseback too? That's some real guerrilla warfare shit with the horses.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Yeah. And it looked like they actually were riding the horses. Like it looked like no stunt doubles. They looked like they were on the horses riding them. Like horse trained, the sways. Wow. You could horse trained is a bit. a bit of a strong word you could clearly tell these motherfuckers did not know what they were doing
Starting point is 00:32:15 around the back of that horse yeah but real thespians will risk it brandon and they will they will do it for the movie and the acting well and like you said it was what were you saying i just it adds to the realism like with with them not with them not knowing how to shoot a gun or ride a horse um because like they when would the sways have learned how to ride a horse they did like that they said like oh we grew up in these hills we can fish we can hunt we've been doing it our whole lives well he he had a bunch of gun racks on the car before like when he when he was just driving uh charlie to school he had gun racks on the on the car so yeah they're definitely and he had the the pit uh was it this the pistol right in the the glove box in the glove box is their granddaddy's
Starting point is 00:32:58 pistol because the the grandpa gives him he's like i got put in some extra ammo from for your granddaddy's pistol i don't know if you heard him say that i like that line i think i remember now that you said it but yeah it was great uh i don't know what i was going to say before oh sorry sorry to interrupt brandon i didn't mean to do that i'm just so fired up about this movie and that we finally get to do it it's so good like they need to bring back whimsy in our lives like not everything needs to have a logical justification at all times sometimes it's magic sometimes it just happens you know like who cares just sometimes like sometimes teenagers can overthrow a communist army you know yeah duh brandon like i could have i would have been
Starting point is 00:33:45 robert heath robert just sawing off shotguns murking people drinking blood oh wolverines branded dude that first wolverines it it it got me fired up like i could that was like run through a wall like oh you're wolverines dude i forgot how much i love this movie you know high school heat too like when i was a lunatic and i actually had like the you know just the complete misconception that's like no dude not only would you have survived teeth you would have thrived in this if i you know i just was just delusional like like literally though like my god i've never been made for anything more than red donning i just wanted them to air drop it to Wayne America
Starting point is 00:34:32 some days, Brandon. I fucking dare you. I fucking dare you. Those fucking commies, are you kidding me? They didn't stand a chance against Wayne America. Now as an adult,
Starting point is 00:34:43 I know that that was, you know, not correct. And I probably would have just gotten rocked by a sniper bullet. Like, I stand up to go run, you would have been the first,
Starting point is 00:34:56 you would have been the first kid shot. Oh, do you think I'm hanging over the window? because i'm the most curious i'm like hey parachuters what's going on here now i would have been in the back i would have been like who gives the shit about those parachuters i did love i loved how trusting the uh the fucking the teacher was he just walks out there you lost bud hey uh what do we have going on here it's a little misdrop and dude as soon as i see guns pointing at me i'm not going to just continue walking towards them i might be like hey kid kids let's get away from the windows oh yeah this this fucking movie though so good i was just
Starting point is 00:35:36 i would have loved you incredible you said you would have been robert yep who would you have been i would have loved to been uh tony jennifer gray because i would have loved to just like oh like tony wait which was tony jennifer gray baby in a baby in a corner he's just i her her bomb shit was fucking cracking me up i would have loved to done that dude she just like walks up to the tank like she has like her bread basket and they're like get that bread basket yeah yeah they try to grab her and the guy's like hey come on come give me come give me some time and then she's like walking by like the little rally area or whatever and yeah the dudes are like hitting on her and she's like i'll be right back i'll be right back and then boom oh it's so good and it's like right as like the generals
Starting point is 00:36:22 are talking about like the wolverines are nothing like was another thing i loved is whenever they're they're like debriefing uh people on what's going on and they're like these fucking wolverines are tearing our shit up they always had like a poster board of an actual fucking wolverine like explaining what an actual wolverine was like i don't think you needed that wait even if they even if they didn't even if your people don't know what a wolverine is i don't think they need to know did you did you okay so i loved when the general was questioning uh coach riley darrell's dad he's like he's in an elite paramilitary group the eagle scouts that was great too i was in tears it like he's in it he's in a secret government organization
Starting point is 00:37:14 because he's the school president of the class president incredible it was that was incredible incredible and then and then the dude the dude reading the uh arabho national forest sign and getting everything wrong oh my god those those those those those Those scenes were amazing, where they just, like the cultural disconnect, they just couldn't get it. That whole scene where it was their first kill and that's when they knew they had to, like, that's what turned them into the Wolverines, right? Because Charlie goes and is like scouting and he watches the military execute all their families as they're singing in America, the beautiful Arturo's dad. Dude, Arturo's dad fucked up by like running after them and yelling after them. truck like you see your kid making an escape you don't like make a big scene about it dude
Starting point is 00:38:07 like that's crazy you know you got to be a little a little more under undercover than that but anyway so that's what really turned but that dude when they shot him with the arrow and then and they shoot the other guys they they all get their first kills it's there was another scene where they're the the communist armies like set up a firing squad yeah and they come the the wolverines come to the rescue and they shoot the firing squad but they come up on the opposite they come up on the opposite side of the firing squad so they're shooting at the people into the the rest of the townspeople yep brand they had to have hit somebody they had to let's let's no no that's there's not with these magic movie bullets brandon you're you're
Starting point is 00:38:59 I thought the same thing though I saw it and I was like oh shit there's someone someone that doesn't understand bullets or guns shot this scene yeah they're like shooting directly into the townspeople and I was like oh no that's that's something like post edit where they're like oh no we we shot into the people and they're like well do you have a hundred k to reshoot that scene I don't either okay you like to go back out to the stinks of new mexico yeah and reshoot that scene I thought the same thing I was like oh they they did that
Starting point is 00:39:32 incorrectly on accident like that's someone someone who doesn't understand bullets I shot that scene dude I and I fucking love seeing the Wolverine spray painted on like the bombed out cars oh Brandon it was just it made me almost want to like
Starting point is 00:39:48 Tim the tool man Taylor it again oh you know oh dude I was just it was incredible this would have been prime prime cocaine Tim Allen to 84 yeah absolutely oh my god when they take um the the clay moors in the trees when they're taking out the column uh loved everything about that that was fantastic there's a not to totally derail this but there's a a photo um on the i mdb like a like a group
Starting point is 00:40:22 like promotional photo yeah where jennifer gray is caressing like an AK 47 to do it's doing it's doing it's doing things to me or when she when she was wearing uh when her and lea thompson are wearing camo in the movie it's all about that all about that yeah and poor poor lea thompson right like they they allude to it and then he uh charlie sheen says what's up your ass and she says that if you ever say that again i'm gonna kill you i'll kill you and the way she did such a good job of like saying that viscerally you know like like i believed it dude i love i see i see this picture and now i see exactly what you mean like we got lea thompson on the other side and i don't know
Starting point is 00:41:11 if like if if jennifer gray has just done so many rom-coms that she doesn't know how how else to pose but sultry because everyone else is like serious that's a dirty that's a dirty dancing face that she's making yeah like everyone else is like serious like they're taking like a serious picture and she is purely sultry and like that's incredible that's i don't hate it though i don't hate it but everything about that and like my boy robert with the r pg in the back row let's fucking go oh my god brandon i just i know i'm said it a thousand times but what a you know like what a great like i said the reason i'm so firing up is this is my roman empire yeah to go back to lea thompson though i did
Starting point is 00:41:58 because she she was so uh i think i think what do they call her later on in the movie that uh the colonel guy calls her feisty yeah because she heard him the colonel that was a wild that was a wild relationship too yep yep that was a little weird yeah but yeah she she starts like asking him about her uh or his uh wife or whatever yeah he's all he's all she she was feisty just like you yeah that was a little weird but it was kind of it was kind of sad when he was like he was like you know i i hope she's alive but then i hear what they're doing to civilians down there and maybe maybe it's for the best i did love uh that was that was heavy dude yeah when he first lands and lea goes up to him and he it's like interrogating him so you american what's the
Starting point is 00:42:47 capital of texas he gets it right she's like you're fucking calmly it's it's houston this fucking movie so good dude it it really was it took us almost too long probably to do this movie but i think we just couldn't we couldn't find it um it wasn't i don't think it was on anything and then we had we had a hell of an ordeal uh just trying to watch it this time it was we had it flashes off and on of hbo max like it's like on it's off it's on it's off and that's usually like when it's usually why I would rewatch it because it's like oh shit red dogs back on HBO yeah because you know you had to go and cancel your HBO right before right before we were doing the fucking movie Brandon $180 $16 a month get
Starting point is 00:43:40 fucked HBO dude that's crazy it's almost $20 a month for fucking HBO match get fucked you got to bundle it that's how you do you bundle it dude now get fucked dude a paramount plus $30 for the whole year $30 for the whole year and you can watch NFL games well that's your that's your intro price it's gonna because I have I have paramount to you and now without your intro price it's like 120 for the year yeah they don't know who they're dealing with I'm going to cancel it after the first year and then I'm going to wait for the next bundle thing to come out or just not have it you know we're we're going to be we're going to be some of those parents brandon we're
Starting point is 00:44:17 going to watch like old throwback shit that's all funny good until it gets in the way of the podcast teeth i don't know to tell you brayn in you couldn't you couldn't have done you couldn't have done 16 dollars for us to watch for us to watch red dawn you can cancel it next month i paid 74 cents and i actually i'm actually this is two dollars and this is probably and then i bought i bought congo that was like 15 dollars you should have waited if we wait like two months i need to order dog food you get those digital credits baby you need you start doing those diggy creddies i don't i i i stopped using amazon uh that's that's why dude that's why they alerted me they're like hey this non amazon guy is trying to break into
Starting point is 00:45:05 your account should we kill him no i forget we we we locked we locked out because the last amazon movie we did uh we watched it from my account um not yours so that's why i was all switched round um and then like with everything in life i don't i don't check on anything till the very last second so i mean honestly this is the best 74 cents i've ever spent my whole life like this i'm not i'm not upset about the two dollars and fifty cents nor am i upset about the the i think it was like 13 bucks for congo i'm i'm good with that because congo dude that's that trailer got me fucking hyped dude i can't wait to watch that it's sad that it just like left Paramount.
Starting point is 00:45:49 It was it at. It was literally, I checked it and I watched the trailer on Tuesday and then went back on Wednesday or to like, went back on Wednesday to like watch it and it was gone. I was like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:46:04 Oh, it's on MGM Plus now. Yeah. But anyways, so the, this movie takes a turn like most wars in December. When the, when the,
Starting point is 00:46:17 when the snow comes Brandon the time the time like plotting of this movie was throwing me for a fucking loop
Starting point is 00:46:26 when we when they went to the grandpa's place and they were like oh yeah it's been five weeks I was like what what
Starting point is 00:46:32 the war started like two scenes ago what the fuck happened Brandon you don't know shit about time okay that's all I'm saying um when I will say
Starting point is 00:46:43 I just the execution by the Wolverines during the tank scene when our boy Arturo panics. He's getting some shell shock being that close to the tank and can't see it. And then the colonel goes up there and releases the red smoke
Starting point is 00:47:02 so the tank can shoot straight. They get one of the tanks with the RPGs, but only after they take, dude, and Arturo's just draped over the tank laying there and the tank's still moving. Yeah. And they,
Starting point is 00:47:15 because the guy tosses the little grenade out of tank when um when the colonel's trying to get them to open it up poor lea thompson crush devastated um after the colonel dies but i just said the really poor execution from the wolverines there it was almost like it was a uh gorilla teenage gang that was trying to take on an army it's it's almost what it felt like uh during that scene but that's you know no no happy ending that's i could tell you that no no happy well i guess kind of if you're Leah Thompson and Danny. Yeah, Leah and Danny make it.
Starting point is 00:47:52 I like that they take some time to play football. You know, a little game of catch. I did, I did. I was waiting for that to come back because in the scene where they're rating the sporting goods store, they specifically show them grabbing a football. And I was like, well, that's got to come back. They're going to, they're going to do something with the football. Oh, my God. I was hoping they were going to kill.
Starting point is 00:48:15 Charlie Sheen does use a. slur to ask if um the two girls and the old man were going to start playing with him again but oh i missed that what did he said he said you queer's going to come uh join us or what i was like oh hey hey oh yeah 80 84 different times take it easy charlie i was i was really hoping they were going to kill somebody with a football though that's what i was hoping for you know oh like put a grenade in it or something yeah that would that would have been a fucking that would been a great tony tony moment yeah dude i did love i did not a tony moment that's charlie sheen is the quarterback right like if he launches tony's tony's the bomb girl you know i'm saying i did i did
Starting point is 00:49:00 i did love how she uh she went out the you know she lived by the grenade and she died by the grenade yeah i respected the fuck out of that hell yeah dude hiding it underneath your dead body so that they get blown up when they move of you classic i would have done the same thing. Love it. Check out the big stars, big series, and blockbuster movies. Streaming on Paramount Plus. Cue the music. Like NCIS, Tony and Ziva.
Starting point is 00:49:29 We'd like to make up your own rules. Tulsa King. We want to take out the competition. The substance. This balance is not working. And the naked gun. That was awesome. Now that's a mountain of entertainment.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Oh, my gosh. Oh, God. I'm the hero of this movie. I can just imagine a little, little Heath in the basement, like acting out scenes. Dude, and I had toy guns, too. You know, like I had, I had like real toy AKs that like, that like, dude, setting up the couch cushions. have to like big mic shout out big mike dude he took old carpet from the apartments he's the
Starting point is 00:50:22 maintenance guy at and just scrapped it together from like the shit they were going to throw throw away put some padding underneath there put our like old shitty couches down there and you know i just got to the basement was was the place where i could go and just be an oversized child and destroy things without destroying things you know yeah i had the We had a lookout tower, too, so you knew I was sniping people from my lookout tower in the backyard. Oh, in the back. I was like, lookout tower in the basement. Not in the basement.
Starting point is 00:50:55 You know, basement during the winter, lookout tower when there were no wasp nest in there. Because then I'd be like, Dad, there's a wasp mess. He's like, all right, knock it down. I'd be like, what? It's like, knock it down. Yeah. Spray it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Terrifying. You can kill a bunch of copies, but you can't kill a couple of ways. but you can't kill a couple of wasps. Yeah. No, I had a similar set up in the basement. I wasn't doing, I wasn't doing fucking AK-47 re-enactants, though. My dad set up a fucking sick-ass basketball hoop in my basement.
Starting point is 00:51:29 Oh, I had one of those, too. It's, dude, I was, dude, well, because I went through phases, right? Like, this was, like, early days had a big GI Joe Ninja Turtle thing, you know, And so like I had a lot of G.I. Joe, so I would set up the battlefields and then I would want to try to reenact the battlefields that I set up there. And then I graduated to sports after that. That's when I started. I was, you know, Sean Kemp really, I saw him on MTV's Rock and Jock. I think he won the dunk contest. That's why, did I ever tell you that? That's why I'm such a big Sean Kemp fan when I was like, gosh, I don't even know what year that was, maybe 92. I was maybe six years old because Heidi's four years older than me. And so she was watching MTV and it advertised rock and jock basketball, B ball jam. And I was like, my God, Sean Kemp is 1994, 94, baby. Dude, I was like, Sean Kemp is the coolest dude I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:52:30 So it's eight years old. I was ready to be influenced. And yeah, that's where it all started. That's why I have a Sean Kemp like starting lineup Barbie doll. Got plaques, dude. I got all this stuff. Kemp's team name was the violators. That's, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:52:46 Looking back, that might have been a sign. A risque. Yeah, Queen Latifah was in it. Queen Latifah famously stole the ball from Kemp and then made a fast break layup. Yep, yep, classic, dude. It was so good. Interesting, yeah. But yeah, I, I was always sports.
Starting point is 00:53:05 I never went through like a war phase or like a GIG or anything like that. I was straight sports. I was I was fucking down there in the basement doing March Madness when I was like three years old, dude. I got a last second three-pointer. I got a GI Joe like costume one year for like my birthday. I had the backpack with like the binoculars and like the canteen gun. Like I said, I was a dude. And I was just, I think there's a picture of me.
Starting point is 00:53:36 And they put like the makeup on me. I was a I was a fucking I was hey I may as well have joined up with master P Brandon and no limit because I was a soldier I was uh I was John Lway when I was a little tiny kid I also I also have a picture of me because we had yellow practice uniforms and I had an inflatable Packers helmet it was like my pride and joy I was I found a picture of it And it was, you could, you could see like the joy in my face through this inflatable helmet of like, my God, I finally get to wear this thing out of the house. Oh, goodness. Anyways, anyways.
Starting point is 00:54:22 But yeah, it's, oh, God, because December is when they get taken out by the tank. And then February is when Darrell betrays them. but i love what the one of the guys um uh the the the russian uh colonel or or super general guy he was like lies have the stench of death and defeat oh yeah he was a that was a weird that was the dude who was fucking showing uh you know pictures and fucking diagrams of wolverines all the time yeah yeah it's i also for the last scene i love love love the attention to detail that they they had him running out of bed with his shirt half tucked in dude had bedhead had a little look little one of these guys little rooster tail up in the back dude my dad always
Starting point is 00:55:15 dude he couldn't help himself no matter what like if i woke up and he's like oh looks like roosters are crowing back there this morning fucking big mic man shut up dad just woke up god i didn't talk like napoleon dynamite as a kid but maybe i did i don't know i was kind of weird it wouldn't shock me would not shock me at all it wouldn't shock me if you were the basis for that character stop i did have pretty sick uh bow staff skills and i practiced a lot with the uh rolls of christmas paper dude i was i was donna tell you know like really getting after those bow staff skills with those empty wrapping paper we were a big christmas family so there's a lot of a lot of presents that got rat back in the day yeah you would
Starting point is 00:56:07 be done i'm actually um dude only with the bow staff if i didn't have nunchucks dude i asked for him a lot you were all you were always a donatello dude no i think i actually had size i think i got some size for Christmas one year You're still a Donatello though Donatello at heart I don't do Donatello does machines That's a fact jack
Starting point is 00:56:32 But I don't do machines Brandon that's not it's not skill It's not skill wise because like I said Even with the even with a different weapon You're still a Donatello dude That doesn't make any sense It's not the skill set It's the vibe it's the aura
Starting point is 00:56:45 You got to you're Donatelo How can you be that aura if you have no skills that that aura farms all the machine skills all the brainiac skills i don't have that i'm cool but rude like raphael you're you're you're you are rude you're definitely not cool though you're you're not a you're not a rude ralph you're a you're a fucking dwebby donatello that's what you are then did i have her did i ever tell you about how there was uh shout out myzner but there was like a dude from um like the i don't know i don't know if it's pc but special ed um brian yeah okay okay but um he was like he was he was handicapped or
Starting point is 00:57:31 whatever right and it's like his i don't know if it's pc or not but he was a human being like i don't know i'm trying to be pc his name is myzner special special ed is exactly what it's called yeah okay okay whatever whatever right like he was he but he um when to church with me and the mole twins and um and the wait the the who twins the the mole twins you're going to have to elaborate on that did they have moles did they look like moles sorry that's their last name m o hl okay see that's see that's where you got to clear that's where you need to clarify i i apologize i forget that i just said that like that was a very normal thing my first thought was these twins look like moles no and then and you rudely called them the mole twins no no no probably
Starting point is 00:58:17 to their face no that's their last name but anyway so so my we were always at the pool hanging out like high school degenerates like in between working and stuff um and myzner would always be there too and he nicknamed uh the four of us the ninja turtles and he only so creative and he only addressed us as our ninja turtles names because we're brothers in faith um because we all went to our Savior Lutheran Church and I was Michelangelo you always got to bring Jesus into it I'm just saying that's it we're speaking away I was Michael angela though because and so like he only he got he got that wrong dude I'm the party dude Brandon and especially back then actually people were but he would like you're Donatello bro he would see us coming from like across the pool
Starting point is 00:59:06 but like Michelangelo classic i hope he's doing well the dumbest the dumbest fucking story ever what oh dude i used to be one of the ninja turtles but you're saying that i was donatello you are technically he got he got that wrong he got wrong technically i was labeled michelangelo by someone that i consider much smarter than you if you were the party dude in you might have been the party dude in this in the group you're referring to you but that just means the rest of the crew was a fucking nightmare tell them the moles were good guys they're nice guys i don't know if they're if they elevated you to michael angelo status that's that's a rough crew that's a rough crew uh you're the worst brandon anyways do
Starting point is 00:59:55 do whatever your thoughts when they hate executed darrell because i was like this is a little rough because in the in the re so in the remake one one once you want to do you want to tell you what they do a cheater always a cheater you know so with the remake i kind of like you can't get you can't get the tracker out if he swallowed it that's oh dude i so well i mean i guess he could he guess he could poop it out so i would have and this is me i would have left and this is what they did in the remake and i really liked what they did because in the remake they had it where like they did a raid on the prison the same raid on the prison but they had darrell get like stabbed and um but he got stabbed with the tracker and they didn't realize it and so they leave him behind
Starting point is 01:00:44 with a bag and a gun and he's like because he goes to his best friend he's like do you mind if I borrow your saw and he's like yeah man you can have it and then he just you know goes down one last stand and he he you know tries to take out as many of those commies as he can before he gets taken out and so that's what I would have done with darrell he's like he got caught he got caught by his dad turned him in he fucked up you don't think darrell would have gone down with honor no this darrell would have curled up in a ball he was he was ready to give himself up the first fucking day that's true as as student body president he did he did vote to to the white flag girl darrell just wasn't built for this you know uh dude anyways
Starting point is 01:01:27 some people don't some people don't have it heath you know and and some people don't fantasize about this 24 seven this isn't this isn't this isn't some people people's roman empire i can tell you that oh do you think that's do you think that like a therapist should not hear this do you think if anybody should hear it it's your therapist that's that's who that's the one person who should hear it dude i'm not it's all i'm saying dude is if russia tries to invade they're running into some trouble when they get to my neighbor I did like how they, because they, in some of those scenes, they explain more of, I think it was like the grandpa, when they're talking to the grandpa, he was explaining where that, what happened and everything. And so they took, uh, the comics basically took from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi.
Starting point is 01:02:21 Yeah. Um, so, dude, I, um, I thought, sorry, this is just a random thought because I just thought of it. But like when they, when the food, they're going to jump that convoy and blow it up. up and then the food drops off the back and so they don't attack it i've seen this movie a hundred times every time i watch it i think that that's a trap and they get killed it's 100% the food was 100% of trap because the helicopter comes right after yeah yeah but i mean like immediately like i always for some reason i always think that jennifer gray gets shot like going after the food and i was like you know what i mean like my brain always remembers that
Starting point is 01:03:02 scene is like her getting snipered in that to get in the food but they always get the food but then the helicopters track them down like a fox like a fox like a fox in the hen house you know i love that analogy where he's like he's like uh he's like what happens when you when a fox steals the chickens you do not execute the pig for watching yeah that was a good one that was good yeah he had some crazy fucking sayings dude and and at the end when the because the one guy starts like sympathizing almost with the wolverines because that's what he used to be you know like did you and he's like he's like I'm no longer I know I'm not one of them I'm one of you a policeman well he mentions like halfway through the movie he's talking to like when that guy first shows up the Russian the big Russian general or whatever shows up and he's like what like why is this so fucking hard for you to just fucking get the goddamn Wolverines and he's like he's like he's like he's like i'm not a fucking um you know i'm not a i forget exactly what he says but he's like i'm the revolutionary i'm not the you know i don't i'm used to being in their role where i'm
Starting point is 01:04:16 fucking sneaking around and fucking killing people yeah i'm not i'm not used to holding down a fucking city yeah um so yeah it explains why they're having such a hard time because he's like i don't know what the fuck i'm doing dude yeah it's like you you tell me you need someone to run through the jungle and start sniping people i'm in crushed it yeah started revolutions all over the world oh my god it's just oh man and then um dude poor robert man tried his best to make that last stand i didn't really understand so like did he hit the helicopter and like just get with the RPG because it like turned back around and he was like firing his machine gun at it and then it took him out yeah i don't think he hit it i can't
Starting point is 01:05:02 remember because it kind of looked like it hit it anyways but um Um, you know, poor, poor Robert did his best, did his best. And, and he went out, you know, blaze glory. That's my God. Little Heath is, blazing. Did you lock the front door? Check. Close the garage door.

Starting point is 01:07:54 are gonna um die of a aneurism like their dad so they do a um a bike race through the rockies oh damn i want to say it was tell you right that they filmed that in but um yeah american flyers and yeah jennifer gray's in it great movie yeah she was she was incredible but yeah so it dude 84 red don't 85 american flyers 86 ferris bueller 87 dirty dancing what a fucking beautiful right is can you name a better four-year stretch i mean so i jim carey had a good stretch with the mask that was all that was all one year though i'm not that's that's that was that was legitimately all 1994 i think yeah that's right but then he had like liar liar after that and like you know but that's a liar liar i think it was a couple yeah let's go to the tape here um
Starting point is 01:08:49 because i'm talking like that's i mean that is the wrong red red don you know there's another Jim Carrey red Don was the the start for Jennifer Gray this is where put her on the map let's see where's uh yeah see Ace Ventura the mask dumb and Dumber okay well okay okay yeah Jim Carrey stretches is better I'll give you that because you got starting 1994 you got Ace Ventura mask, dumb and dumber, all 1994, then 95, Batman Forever, Ace Ventura 2, 96, cable guy, 97, liar, liar, 98, Truman Show, 99 Man on the Moon, 2000 How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Oh, that's a decade. That's a six-year stretch. That's a better stretch. But still, Jennifer Gray's four-year stretch. top notch probably number two
Starting point is 01:09:57 probably number two yeah yeah but anyways it's this movie was just it was so good it was dude and I also man the sways when after geez son just came out blinding me
Starting point is 01:10:13 when the sway I thought you were getting raptured for a second dude at the at the end I know right like that's take me too take me too did I used to I used to love of like when I had to like what do like was going to church to get my first communion or whatever I loved the like when the pastors would sing and then we give him praise and speak his name church church church hymns are amazing I I took a I love this I love the talk singing that the pastors get to do it's incredible I was so good at it Brandon those are so good at gospel music's amazing um Church hymns are fantastic.
Starting point is 01:10:57 I took a, like a, I took a couple of musical theory classes when I was getting my associate's degree. And one of them was like early, early, early music. And so they spent a good chunk on like church music and like Gregorian chance. I got, I got real deep into Gregorian chance.
Starting point is 01:11:15 Dude, that shit is fire. Nice. Nice. So good. I love that. Anyway, sorry. Back to the movie. The final stand.
Starting point is 01:11:25 The brothers, the Eckert's final stand was awesome. For two people, they bring absolute chaos down. And I kind of love, like, I mean, it's pretty noble. They're like, listen, you guys need to get to safety. The only way you're going to be able to do it is if you cause a diversion. Someone has to survive. Yeah, Charlie says somebody's got to fucking live. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:51 Which is, yeah. Somebody does. Got to carry on the legacy. got to tell the story yeah oh my god and dude and dude it's kind of sad when dan he's like but but you're not gonna matt you're not gonna know who won you won't i i didn't care for danny danny was a fucking he was 15 it's just a kid braynor arturo was way better would have been cooler if arteros rent um hard fart dude jep fucked up too because he lets the current he says shit and lets the colonel turn around and shoot him before he shoots him you just got to shoot that guy
Starting point is 01:12:37 no no no you got to do it to his face let him know you're going down anyway if it's not the colonel it's one of the other someone else you got it you got to you got to have you got to get the last word in you know okay you got to even it even if it's even if it's your even if it's your even if it's your even if it's your even if it's It's legitimately your last word. You got to get it in. You got to let you got to let him know who's boss. I did love the brothers on the bench, the park bench. You know, it's a pretty, pretty profound moment for the old Eckhart brothers.
Starting point is 01:13:08 Their last stand. Hell of the last stand. Really was, dude. They fucked. They fucked shit up. They blew up everything that they could. They shot a lot of dudes down. That's it.
Starting point is 01:13:20 They went down in a blaze. glory as well. How can Charlie running around with the RPGs is cracking me up? It was incredible, dude. It was incredible. And then, you know, they're free now. Danny and Erica, I think is her name. Yeah, Erica.
Starting point is 01:13:39 Yeah. And then that's what we end with her little monologue that I started. You know, we started at the beginning or at the end. Sorry, we started at the end. They don't say how long it lasted after. Do you there? No, no. They didn't.
Starting point is 01:13:51 They just say that it, like all things, it ended. Yeah. But they'd never forgot those teenagers. The USA did not perish from the earth. Nope. Nope. So stuck around because I'm proud to be in America. Lividlyista.
Starting point is 01:14:12 Right? Who sings that song? Charles something, maybe. I was going to say Toby Keith. Oh, no. R-I-P. Yeah. I forget what song he's saying but the music video where he was on the football
Starting point is 01:14:27 film that wasn't a good Toby Keith yeah Toby Keith was at the forefront of post 9-11 country music oh when they got real American with it just bleeding patriotism dry for any every last time they could they're still fucking doing it too I blame toby keith for that oh yeah courtesy of the red white and blue yeah that song does fucking pump me up though i will say i can't remember what the song was uh yeah i'm proud to be an american i forget who sings that is it not toby keith yeah no it's someone else oh lee greenwood yeah lee greenwood yeah god bless the USA. I'm sure Toby Keith
Starting point is 01:15:21 saying that at one point. Yeah. I saw Toby Keith in concert actually. We got free tickets in Charlotte. Oh yeah? I took my sister, actually. We went to a party where we made a massive batch of jungle
Starting point is 01:15:37 juice. Got hammered and then went and tailgated at the Toby Keith concert and then went to Waffle House afterwards. Hell yeah. Always. Hell yeah, dude. we need to do our cakey rating for this incredible movie before cat jesse fucks up my sound anymore
Starting point is 01:15:55 didn't even think about the fucking cat jessie quit sitting on the cords and i won't fuck with you come on dude dude what um what are you giving your cakey reading this is top tier upper echelon 80s action drama so i probably have to give it a 4.89 4.89 okay who ranan i love this movie it has flaws but like my love for this like this even just remember once again you gave so you gave okay so you gave a 4.89 to can't hardly wait as well okay hold on then i might have to go 4.90 then because it's a little better than can't hardly way so you gave newsies and goofy movie a 4.87 and then you gave home alone a 4.93 yeah and that's that's that's your highest one yeah for us to go 4.90 okay because this is I've said it a thousand times but like I said you know this red any situation where I'm that I'm living in where America could get red is my Roman Empire and I will go to my grave thinking about it especially now with a family
Starting point is 01:17:24 I did come on and you know if we move moving back to Nebraska we're going to be a much better shape because we got all my Grandpa Dale's guns after he passed and so we will be armed okay no one is going to take over Wayne America but I probably would have gotten wiped out in one of like the big strikes against Omaha you know that's okay happens to the best of us anyway so what's your kick you're hitting I'm gonna go this is a tough one I'm gonna go 4.1 Heath because I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna slot it in just behind cruel intentions at 4.2 and can't i put i put uh can't hardly wait at 4.25 so i'm gonna slide this i'm gonna slide red don in at 4.1 solid 4.1 this that's a good i i get that for like a brandon rating too solid 4.1
Starting point is 01:18:29 also i do want to say it was refreshing um just doing a movie this this time instead of yeah instead of a it's been a while it's been a while it's been a while because we did dawson's creek we did the wet hot american summer movie but we also did all the series so it just felt like one big fucking thing um it was nice just to just to watch one like 90 minute movie it was two it was uh hour in 50 minutes it was almost two i solid two hours it flew by though flew by well because the first hour is like they just like we said they just go right into it it's like okay here's the intro here's what happened and getting dropped off at school now the school's getting shot up by the Russians and Cubans and Nicaraguans and now they're on the lamb and now
Starting point is 01:19:19 their families are getting targeted and then all of a sudden they're guerrilla soldiers you know the wolverines brandon wolverines so good they do that in the remake too you got to you need to do yourself a favor brandon go spend another two dollars and fifty cents and go rent the the new one on Fandango tonight when you're not doing anything just do yourself a favor watch josh peck overact make dumb faces and and watch the star-studded cast around him do well you know there's no jennifer grace i don't know if i come on you got what i am going to do you got the girl from the g-i-jo movie that the rocks in you've got the there's another girl that's in stuff to that is josh peck's girlfriend you got there's no jennifer
Starting point is 01:20:11 the Hemsworth you've got the dad is a guy that's in stuff too there's no she's good uh they're no Jennifer gray though I'm not what I'm going to do is I'm going to go watch Ferris Bueller's day off in the dirty dancing that's what I'm going to do see this is the problem though Brandon is you know Ferris gets glorified as I'm not watching it for Ferrence I'm going to skip every scene that Jennifer Gray's not in because you know I just I know it's not popular but I just feel so bad for Ferris's friend like that's just he kind of bullies him
Starting point is 01:20:47 wrecks his dad's car what the fuck is his name Jim or Andy Jim what the fuck is Cameron Cameron Cameron's Cameron yeah poor Cameron you would be a
Starting point is 01:21:03 you would be a Cameron Cameron Stan I'm not a Stan I'm a Camstan I'm a sympathizer Brandon like the poor kid is sick at home and ferris just ruins his whole day you know who's still fucking just amazingly good looking is jennifer gray i google jennifer gray now still crushing
Starting point is 01:21:27 it dude still crushing it she doesn't have the she doesn't have the the trademark curly locks but she's still crushing it um brandon i'm so glad we could finally got to do this movie fucking red dawn it is incredible it is i think the best part about the movie is it does a good job of making it like real the realism in it like i feel like they do a good job of like portraying what it would be like without like over over doing it you know what i mean like like we said with the kids couldn't shoot the gun super well how they operated like as like amateurs and guerrilla warfare kiddos um anyways it was incredible great great cast great chat about the movie it's a it's a it's a it's a great fucking movie and it's it's one of it's a perfect 80s 80s
Starting point is 01:22:22 action movie it's so good Oh, oh, oh. Oh, oh. Oh. Oh. Thank you.
