Starting point is 00:00:00 It's not worth winning if you can't win you! You were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles, and my daddy said, stay away from Juliet, and I was crying on the staircase begging you, please don't go. I said, Romeo, take me, so we can't be alone, I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run. I don't know. I don't know this song very well. all right roe how do you not take t swift where we can be alone i'll be way you get all the swift he's bad at us because you're butchering you'll be the prince and i'll be the princess it's a love story
Starting point is 00:01:07 baby just say yeah oh that's this song okay now it's all coming back to me he's sing the whole song and then at the end you're like oh yeah yeah i remember that now it now i get it now you were rowie oh you were the and pebbles and my daddy said, stay away from Julia and I was crying on the staircase begging you please don't cow
Starting point is 00:01:31 wow there we go. A little funky M there. Yeah, dude, we want the funk. Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting. All there's left to
Starting point is 00:01:47 do is right. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess it's a love story baby just say yes i never i did never get i never got that part of the of the song because romeo and juliet are not prince and princesses you know oh that's true it's historically inaccurate from taylor she's getting her shit together classic taylor and why just bogged down new york city with a wedding in madison square garden I mean, I dry. I'm going to hold my tongue.
Starting point is 00:02:29 I don't last thing we need is the swifties coming out after us. I feel like the swiftings aren't as swift as they used to be, but you're right. They're they are brutal. They will, they would eat us alive. Ronnie and Julie though, Brandon, this movie was fantastic. Amazing. So we're doing Ronnie, Ronnie and Julie, which is showtime movie. on behalf of Hallmark.
Starting point is 00:02:56 So it was like a Showtime Hallmark movie. That's it. That was opening credits. What did you say it like that? I don't know. I forgot what I was saying halfway through of what I was saying. And also I had like a piece of a granola bar that just got like, was like in my tooth, bothering me.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Just driving me in his hands too. Baha. But yes, it's a it's a showtime movie produced by Hallmark. Yes. Everything about that is fantastic. And this is why I think I love To Be so much is because To Be has all the old Showtime movies that I grew up with when we had Showtime as a kid on that. Did you watch this movie before? Have you seen it before?
Starting point is 00:03:46 As a kid, I remember. There were bits and pieces I remembered from it. But I didn't like it as a kid. So I was like, you know, I wasn't a big Hallmark movie fan until just recently. Spending all of December with late night feeds with no, no, L and just, you know, just, just crush in some hallmark movies. That's how, that's how you do it. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:10 But yeah. So Ronnie and Julie is the movie we're doing. It's, we're in 1997. It's D3. It's Joshua Jackson and Margo Finley who, Margo Finley, who Margo Finley is the love interest in D3, Charlie's love interest in D3. They reconnect one year after D3 to film
Starting point is 00:04:27 this movie. And Charlie is, and Joshua Jackson is the star hockey player. Yeah, they, they worked hockey into a Romeo and Juliet adaptation. He got to love it. How do you not love that, right? Like, she's the
Starting point is 00:04:43 figure skater, he's a hockey player. Fantastic. Did you catch him screaming at the refs? What are you blind? Love. loved everything about that that was that was directly from d3 like you could tell like this movie was built on the foundations of d3 i was like some d3 fan out there was like you know what you guys let's run it back we're at romeo and julia i you guys crushed it i i had to look into it because i was like i was like it's both of them it's hockey i wonder if they're i wonder if they
Starting point is 00:05:15 like how close they filmed it together i wonder if they just because i was like there's no way they like used the same sets and stuff and like film because that would be the year apart right yeah it was too far apart um and d3 it was all not all but most of it was shot in minnesota and then most of this was shot in vancouver i believe so not the not the didn't use any of the same sets but yeah it was it was it's it's oddly it's very odd how close the two projects are i that was what i love the most about it, I think, though, you know? Like, and just when the opening scene with the little girl...
Starting point is 00:06:01 Oh, I hated the little girl. Oh, my God. I hated every side character. Yeah. Claire was driving me crazy. Yeah. How did you... They did not have a good supporting cast.
Starting point is 00:06:15 That's just... I mean, I didn't mind their performances. I thought the actors and the actresses were, doing a fun job is it was just the characters that i was like you got to be like clear girl they no favors too she kind of drove me crazy his his little cousin i didn't care for marty he was marty seemed like a like a big dud yeah there's a real lead weight too around his neck like having to he's bringing a dork you just got to cut you just got to cut that dead weight you got to yeah you got to let him get beat up.
Starting point is 00:06:47 You know, that's, that's like when you're rock climbing, right? And that's his, his, cut him loose. Cut him loose.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Yeah, right? Like, that was his cousin. It's like, that guy is going to bring the whole crew down. If you let him. So you got to cut it loose.
Starting point is 00:07:03 You know, like it's survival of the fittest. Like, you know, sometimes it's okay to have a big heart, but sometimes it can be at your own detriment. And this was that case. Like,
Starting point is 00:07:13 you know, Ronnie Monroe, needed to cut it loose and he should have known that from his mom you know as a politician you got to be as a politician you got to be able to cut dead weight quickly yeah well she she was terrible at that too she was she kept that's true fucking that was another character that drove me crazy was god damn paul paul was the creepiest son of a bitch i've ever seen in my life who is pa oh yeah the cat sorry the cast all has their modern day pictures and not there are pictures at the time of the movie and so it is throwing me off now
Starting point is 00:07:51 paul possibly the the other kid who's trying to make a move on um on julie and is is spying on ronnie's mom's campaign for uh julie's dad yeah and that guy was a little real creep real creeps a little oh my goodness when they would zoom in and get his like facial reactions It was always the creepiest little faces, the creepiest little smiles. Dude, and just the way he approached and talked to people and just operated, it was all just not great. That note trick was bullshit. What a fucking, what a sneak, dude. What a sneak.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Real, real snake. But I didn't care for Claire either, Julie's best friend. And my main reason for that is how on earth. Are you at the hockey games right, right behind the penalty box that doesn't even have glass on it? You can see right into it. And Ronnie gets a penalty. They call out his name and his number as he's walking to the penalty box. He takes his helmet off, makes a huge scene, throws his helmet, throws his stick, literally right in front of her.
Starting point is 00:09:13 And then Julie shows up and goes, where is he? And Claire goes, oh, I don't know. I never saw him. He's literally right in front of you, you dummy. That scene infuriated me. Infuriated me. It was, I mean, it was, I just, I thought the whole movie was hilarious, though. Like, it was the most perfect 1997 showtime, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:46 Romeo and Juliet movie, but like produced by Hallmark. Like, it was fantastic. This is everything that I wanted it to be. And it's also like, I think I watched this once and it just like wasn't for me as a kid. And I was like, you know, I'm okay. But Josh Jackson, you got to give everything a shot. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:04 But this is, this is why I love freaking Tooby because To be has all these, like we can cancel all the other streaming services at this point. Toby has everything you need to get by. It's fantastic. That's where all the Amelia movies were. Yeah. I say you one that we need to do ASAP, National Lampoons, Loaded Gun. Loaded weapons. Naded weapons.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Yeah, that's what. Because what's it, it's the take on naked gun or no, or I think it's a lethal weapon spoof. Yes, that's what I meant. That's right. It's not what I say. It's what I mean. yeah well we'll get to that one yeah um my god ronnie and julie was was a treat though it was a treat uh the it like you said it it hits such a they every like choice that they make is the cheesiest
Starting point is 00:11:05 possible choice um but it works i was all in i was all in and and it like it as funny as it sounds like it did the weirdest job of staying true to shit like it did you know what it like it really wanted to be a 90s take on romeo and julia you know like it and try to stay as like true to it it was just so silly and like the the dad the way the dad admitted to having the kids spy on them and stuff was hilarious too uh all all of the family work um the parents was wild like there's the the the dinner um that uh julie's uh family has the the the capellas or the just the capels right it's not capella capels um the dinner they have after
Starting point is 00:12:04 the debate and um the dad's like we've been uh we've been you know living in this in this we've been running this town for like 200 years i think it's time we finally give back yeah and then her the little shitty little brother uh or older brother i should say the shitty brother who's beating up marty all the time he's like yapping with his mouthful and it's just the the the weirdest grossest human being in the world and the mom's only complaint is that he used the wrong grammar like you're this is why your kid's a terrorist is because you're you're a terrible mom good grammar is a sign of good everything brandon so getting your shit together hold on look at it did you see this trivia that the snow used in the opening scene was bulk mashed potato flakes from
Starting point is 00:12:57 costco yeah all the snow they used was like weird mashed potatoes flakes there's a that the scene where they're they like fall into the snow and then start making out when they fall into the know you can like see the like the the pushing that they land on move you know you can tell that it's amazing yeah i love that the trivia it's it says he reprises his role as charlie conway that's fantastic he basically is charlie he wines just as much as charlie does yeah yeah it was it was like um 90% charlie thought 5% Pacey and 5% Romeo.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Yeah. That's true. Like he went he did have a little Pacey going on in there, didn't he with those drama scenes. Like I can feel Dawson's Creek and when the drama came.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Yeah. Oh. I also loved to win that. That's probably my favorite. Like as much as I love Charlie and Charlie Conn was great, but my God, Pacey is just might be my favorite Joshua Jackson character of all time
Starting point is 00:14:17 really yeah it's just Pacey's the best what about what about film guy number two from Scream 2 you didn't care for that that rendition
Starting point is 00:14:30 oh my god I don't even know why we talk sometimes Brandon if I'm being compared to the house I don't know either you're you bring nothing to the table here he's I know I know
Starting point is 00:14:43 I have nothing good to say about anything ever. It's just a hater like the AI says. But I was like, oh, before you interrupted me. Sorry. As I say, I loved the, speaking of going back to when they were falling on the snow and making out, I loved the, because the little girl, the little sister, Julie's sister, little sister, Willa, right? Willa? She's filming everything.
Starting point is 00:15:11 as one was to do in 1997. And then she films them making out. And then that ends up in the news station. I forget how that happened. Because the brother, like the brother switches the tape out and just sets it down. And they get mixed up with all the, it's all the things.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Yeah. Oh, man. Someone is, there's a review that was just a, offended by this movie. Before you interrupt me again. Yes. My brain's all over the place.
Starting point is 00:15:48 But I loved the like the scene of the news station where he is the editing, the editor at the news station in like the old school like 90s. He's got like fucking gigantic, you know, computer to monitors. He's putting VHS tapes in everywhere. Yes. That was a cool scene to see him like splice all that together. Yeah, and then they had the weird little janitor right behind him just sweeping up it's fantastic yeah yeah read your terrible review you're yapping about oh i started scrolling hold on it really is like a uh a hilariously fun movie though like if you
Starting point is 00:16:29 just want a dumb movie to put on the background and it's like it's a safe for kids too i feel like you know, like it's a good PG, you know, it borders on PG-13. All right. This guy says an insult for Shakespeare. Oh, man, I haven't seen such a fake movie for a long time. It was just as fake as the snow they used in it. The acting was so pathetic and unnatural that even Baywatch actors outranked them. A romantic movie?
Starting point is 00:16:59 Give me a break. Every Beverly Hills 902102.0 episode got more romance inside. A drama. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Recommendations? No. Or maybe some 12-year-old kids will like it. Some.
Starting point is 00:17:15 I can't remember a single thing that I liked in this movie, even if it was made for TV. Okay, maybe hockey. But that won't stop me to give this movie a shameful grade, one out of ten. One out of ten? I mean, it is not a good movie. I will say that. It is very much all of the all the cliches and stuff about Hallmark movies.
Starting point is 00:17:41 This one hits them all. And it's it's not it's not a it's not a good movie. It is a fun movie like you said. It's pretty ridiculous. And just the the fact that it's it's two two ducks in love, you know, that's that's all I mean. And they beat the original plot of dying, especially after the way they started. it. I thought for sure they were dead. Dead his doornails. I mean, they did
Starting point is 00:18:07 die. Ronnie went into sudden death, dude. Sudden death. As soon as they said that, I was like, oh my God. That is not how they're getting there. Yeah. That was
Starting point is 00:18:22 sudden death. And what did she? Can I say it? I kind of wish they both died. I kind of wish we would have kept an ending that ending. I thought for sure they died. I think that would have been fine. But they think they wouldn't, like, it would have been fine if they died.
Starting point is 00:18:39 It wouldn't have, like, made it worse. Like, I thought that. So I thought that they were going to fall into that ice and die. Oh, they were skating on? The secret, the secret ice that they were. Secret meeting ice. I thought they were going to, they were going to run away and meet there. And secret meeting ice, they fall through and they die tragically.
Starting point is 00:19:01 And it's all that dumb. little girl's fault. I don't hate that. I don't hate that. That's a compelling story. That bumps up the rating a bit, I think. You know, that gives it at least one to two. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Yeah. So that guy gave it a one. It's, oh shit, it has a six to average rating. That's way too high. I don't know. I feel like it's a six out of ten. I feel like it's a solid six out of ten. And if you go with my plot line, it's eight out of ten.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Eight out of ten. Yeah, if they die, falling through the ice. Eight out of ten is like Jurassic Park. Joshua Jackson is going to put in the performance of a lifetime if they die at the end. You know he is. Oh, yeah. He would have, you know, he would have Leo Nato DiCaprio, that ice, you know, that frozen water, titanic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:54 They would have just had to potentially recast a little girl because she was just, I don't know. I don't know. There's some, there's some heavy. hitters in this movie. I mean, we have Joshua Jackson, obviously. Terry Gar is the lady who plays his mom. She's in stuff. She's in a bunch of stuff. She was in, what is it, third
Starting point is 00:20:12 encounters, or third encounters of a close kind? Close encounters is a third kind. My God. Third encounters is a close kind. I like my title better. Definitely why we don't have nice things. But she, yeah, she's in that. She's in a
Starting point is 00:20:26 Frankenstein, Mr. mom. She's, she also plays Phoebe's biological mom and friends. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert for season three of friends. You know, I just, I never got super into it, friends. I know it's like.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I was, me and my sister were obsessed with friends when I was in like, you know, like eighth and ninth grade. I know. We had all the DVDs just fucking rip through them, dude. just fucking rip through just ripping yeah that's a great friend's episode too is with terry gar
Starting point is 00:21:08 when you find out she's uh he be's biological mom she's in at the beach she's in a bunch of tom butler is the guy who plays uh julie's dad he's in a whole bunch of stuff too um
Starting point is 00:21:23 yeah he's definitely he always plays like the stern older guy in things, I feel like. Oh, I almost forgot. There's another connection, not to the ducks, but to our podcast universe, Heath. Did you catch the other connection in this movie? No.
Starting point is 00:21:48 The guy who plays his, because when they make him switch schools, the and he goes he goes to the new school and the new hockey team the coach for that for the lawrence high school team is the the russian coach from miracle it's the same actor there's there's no way i was going to pick up on that brandon that was you know i spotted that instantly i was like i know that dude that's that that's that he's playing another crazy russian that was those were wilds scenes to the coach scenes the hockey scenes in this movie or like if if if you if you
Starting point is 00:22:33 thought it couldn't get worse hockey wise for mighty ducks it got worse he got so much i his transfer to the other team with the crazy coach was hilarious he's like he's like he's like having a conversation with rani while he's screaming at the team that's practicing and he he screams at the goalie and he's like hey It's your job to stop the puck. Even if you, even if you have to do it with your face and then did you, did you,
Starting point is 00:23:04 did you catch the callback in the, the hockey scene at the, at the end, um, he makes us say with his face. Hmm. I didn't pick up on that. Wow.
Starting point is 00:23:16 It's okay. You're not a movie guy. I get it. No, I'm not, Brandon. I'm not a pop culture guy. No.
Starting point is 00:23:22 You didn't even, you didn't even recognize Zadad, mezovetchic. Dude. How do you not recognize? recognize that guy i know what a what a dumb dummy i am yeah unacceptable yeah that makes sense yeah i um what are what are your thoughts on linda rose linda it's the the hot it's the the hot girl that um he sees at the beginning and then
Starting point is 00:23:48 um what's his name paul is the he's does the note trick by using by using her she that was a pretty She didn't have a single line. Oh, sorry. Linda Rose didn't have a single line. She didn't talk once. She was just the eye candy for Charlie at the beginning before he realized that the hot, the hot young figure skater was the way to go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:18 What? The note trick. He didn't quite land the note trick, but that was, it was. if he would have pulled that off it was close he didn't quite land it but like so so fucking stupid stupid he had it there brandon just didn't quite land the plane so fucking stupid um but it it would have worked i remember i remember being in love in high school and you know falling for those dumb that dumb nonsense passing notes kids are kids are fucking stupid jes brandon yeah to be young and in love though you know like what uh
Starting point is 00:24:55 What a feeling, you know, can't find this feeling anymore. What are the, that life's not worth living if it's not with them. They say that a lot in this movie. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. That's true. And she takes it.
Starting point is 00:25:09 I just, the way they get to her crying and screaming that they are dead is so silly, that they went to sudden death in the hockey game. And then like, and then she, she switches from, uh, the Romeo and Juliet. ice dance to yeah and she saw swan lake yeah and she the swan died the older the older brother dude the older brother the older brother just bates Joshua Jackson into the fight that was it all the time they got so mad at Joshua granted he did he did he pulled a malice in the palace he jumped into the stands and he started fighting but did nobody else see the three guys beating up beating up a kid in the stands everybody acted like he just went out and sucker punch the dude.
Starting point is 00:25:58 And he's like, there was a, he was, they were legit beating up his cousin in the stands. Yeah. I agree. And everyone just watch it. Like,
Starting point is 00:26:08 where's the, where's the, there's, even though it's a high school game, there's still teachers. Well, you know, and security.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Why is there no, why is, why is there no glass? There wasn't glass anywhere on that rink. That's why he's able to hop into the stands like five times. That's, First of all, you don't know anything about high school rinks, Brandon. I would imagine 99% of them have glass.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Nah, nah. It's a pretty standard requirement for a hockey rink. You absolutely wouldn't get it. You're so? That's all I'm saying. But the little stupid little Romeo-Juliette-tie-ins that they were forcing in were cracking me. up to you like the name's so cheesy and hilarious honestly the name changes were stupid capulets to capels and then montague's to monrose um they meet at the debate like they do in the
Starting point is 00:27:13 original did you would you ever did you like read romeo and juliet or did you yes were you long did you star as rome no oh my god no no no never no no acting i'm not a the thesely span you have more of a mercurcio vibe anyway whatever whatever you say Brandon but um they they meet at a debate at a public debate um like they do in the the actual romeo and juliet um there's a bunch of other little keys that i'm blanking on right now to you but yeah i i i really i kind i really wish they would have they would have killed them i really wish they would have killed them at the end i think i think you would have made it a good movie like it would have been like from tolerable to like awesome yeah and then and by doing that you lose the stupid you know sudden
Starting point is 00:28:11 death um little kids confusion yeah like it's just silly you know yeah but maybe it's a hallmark movie for kids like maybe that was like i think that's what they're going for yeah they were like a teen teen hallmark yeah that's that's exactly what it seems like it's like the like the disney channel original movies for hallmark oh yeah my date with the president's daughter my date with romeo this this isn't that good no no i mean this isn't even as good as like alley cat strike or something whoa whoa whoa don't don't be don't be bad mouth and alley cat strike i'm not i'm saying it's way better than this like you this this has a lot to stand up to you if it was to be as good as a you put some respect on kaley quoko's name okay she is a husker in a show and so she's a husker in real life so like that's she's an honorary
Starting point is 00:29:09 husker ran that's not how that works man she is an honorary husker brandon i don't think that's how that works you wouldn't get it but yeah this was this was a great like teen Hallmark, Romeo and Juliet ends nicely, you know, like plot is nice, you can throw it on in the background while kid plays with dolls or something, you know, like something like that, right? Exactly what I did.
Starting point is 00:29:50 That's probably what you do, Brandon. You have a tea party and throw this movie on in the background. Oh, dude. You and Flapjack. Dude. Now, Flapjack would be a terrible tea party guest. He's too he's too flaley He would knock
Starting point is 00:30:08 Knock everything over You know Yeah I haven't had a tea party in ages Did you ever have Growing up Do they still do this When I was growing up
Starting point is 00:30:22 All the rage Was those like plastic There's like big plastic sets That were like Like food in like kitchen based. Did you ever have those? Oh, yeah. Is that still a big thing with kids? I'm sure. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:38 I remember I had a McDonald's branded one. It was like, oh, that's pretty sick. Yeah. Did they get it for it? Did someone get it for you? Because your mom died. No, this is way before my mom died. This is when I was like, this was when I was like a toddler. Nice. Oh, okay. Happy childhood memory. Shout out, Brandon. My mom died when I was 11. Do you think I was playing with those kitchen sets?
Starting point is 00:30:58 So I was 12 years old? You might have been. I don't know. kind of life you live for him. One of isolation and sadness. Oh, I'm glad we brought this up because I was hanging out with ramen last night, right?
Starting point is 00:31:11 I'm hanging out with ramen last night. We're at a, we're at a bar and he starts chatting to the chatting it up with the dude who was sitting next to him. And the dude went from, he went from like,
Starting point is 00:31:24 you know, casual bar chatting to here's my depressing life story like that, dude. Wow. Like that. But just, It was just waiting.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Yeah. Just waiting. Started talking about, I think it was his sister and his daughter died. Jesus. Like a couple years ago. And had him on. He's like, I guess, you know, pulled out his phone. The phone background was the two of them.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Just some real sad, sad, sad, shit, dude. And I checked out. I got up and walked away. I was like, I'm not fucking doing this. No. Not at a bar. No. And we've got over this before.
Starting point is 00:32:03 As somebody who's lost family members, I have zero empathy for you. Keep that shit bottled up, dude. Especially at a, especially at a bar. It should never be the vibe killer. Oh, and this was a vibe fucking killer, dude. It was so bad. It was so bad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:26 The girl that played Julie, she didn't really do too much after this. in D3. She did that far from home movie. Did you ever watch that? I think I maybe watched it once when I was a little kid, but not recently. I know she stepped away from acting pretty like almost right after this
Starting point is 00:32:44 or a couple of years after this. What movie were you talking about? Was it called? Far from home. I know she was in about the dog. Oh, she is. I know this movie. Yeah, she is in this movie. She was also in a at least one episode of
Starting point is 00:33:00 Are you afraid of the dark, I believe. Oh, dude, this is, I haven't seen this movie in forever. This, I don't, I don't think I could watch this movie now. This would, this would ruin my day. I would be, I'd be bawling my eyes out on this movie. I can't, I can't, I can't watch movies with dogs. Oh, Sam. Unless, unless I know for a fact it's going to be 100% happy.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Like one, one sad scene with a dog will ruin my week, dude. I will ball my eyes out. I know. I know. It's a sad day. Do you want to the Josie's puppies died a couple of her last week before? Yeah, sad day. She looked exactly like Josie, but in Jenkins' body, if that makes sense. I can picture it. It was pretty wild. Like, even that my phone AI would like pick her up in the Josie albums because they look so. So similar.
Starting point is 00:34:01 So, you know, RIP, Houston. Yeah. You see. Oh, the name was Houston? Yeah, because that's where I was living when they came and got her. That's nice. But yeah, but like you were saying, Margo Finley, is, uh, her, the actresses name. Who plays Julie and then what was her name in, what was her name in D3, Linda?
Starting point is 00:34:27 Yeah. Linda, Linda. Yeah, Linda. She stopped acting Not too long after this. I think we I think our Cake Eater's
Starting point is 00:34:40 Instagram profile. I believe we follow her on Instagram. Wow. Lucky her. Yeah. Would she Margo, if you would like to, come on the show. We would love to have you. But I thought that using a mayoral beef was a good way to get the family beef going for for the the two families
Starting point is 00:35:07 that capels and the monroe i think i think that was a good choice to you because i was i was trying to think like how else would you do it but i thought that was like the perfect choice to yeah i thought yeah i was thinking how else would you do it to you how else would you do it and not make it seem like corny yeah yeah like oh this is our take on romeo and Joel, yeah. And it's like, you know, they're, you know what else? You know what you could have done to besides a mayoral race? You could have had a HOA dispute. That'd have been a good way to do it. Yeah, that could have been a good one too for sure. You know what other movie does this kind of thing? Well, Cinderella story with my girl Hillary, big hill dog, Hillary Duff. Big hill dog. Oh, goodness. I do that movie and Chad Michael Murray. Do that movie? is it's a solid movie it's a good one this shit and it has
Starting point is 00:36:05 that one lady that's in Steph that talks like with the high pitch voice and like the face it's Jennifer Coolidge right yes yes see you knew exactly who I was talking about that was a perfect description it was not
Starting point is 00:36:19 and the her best friend is the kid in Cougar Town oh yeah that was a wild show yeah Kelly loved that show those first few seasons were fantastic actually then it gets weird at the end like all shows do
Starting point is 00:36:43 when they go too long have you seen the community where Abed gets obsessed with Cougar town yeah that's a good one yeah but anyways yeah but I think that you know Cinderella story is similar to this, where it's like a, you know, playoff of that and it's similar vibes.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Yeah, that actually, well, I would, I would say Cinderella story is a much better, better executed and a better movie in general. But yes, the same style. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah, way better. Because like when Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray are dancing under the, the thing with the
Starting point is 00:37:30 Edwin McCain violin going in the background freaking romance dude freaking romance yeah you can't I mean you can't go wrong with Ed McCain Dawson's Creek knew that you know yeah they understood that in season season one they got away from it but
Starting point is 00:37:49 yeah season one and then every every time every time I think of Chad Michael Murray I think of side that that's one of my favorite lines ever what is it it's it's the episode where uh it's the racehorse episode where like their old like elementary school buddies like a jockey and he and he was a bully and he comes to ask for their help and um just like i'm not helping him he's evil i'm not helping him just any i'm trying to remember the exact line he goes um some
Starting point is 00:38:26 people are just born evil they born evil they can't help it the children of the corn chad michael murray he names like two other people do but yeah it's just always i can't think of chad michael murray without thinking of that classic dude i got i got i got to rewatch psych i love that fucking show so much i know i rewatch the first few seasons and then i kind of petered off but it's it's all fantastic like it's every episode like it's it's good it's good just background yeah good to pay attention good background it's just good it's yeah it's it's fantastic it's it's i'm gonna think this through before us i was to say it's the best tv show ever and it might be i'm not a hundred percent i'm not a hundred percent sold on that but i'm gonna stick with it scrubs scrubs and syke are like my two favorite
Starting point is 00:39:21 I'm not a huge scrubs guy I would take psych way over scrubs I enjoy scrubs but it's not like you know it's not it's definitely not my favorite scrubs is my GM GMie jam it was on 10 to 11 every night I'm not watched it like on TV or
Starting point is 00:39:43 yeah that was when you put it every okay I thought maybe you like had the DVDs and you're like up 10 o'clock I got to watch scrubs no it was just on TV at 10 o'clock every time on wgn is that you said yeah i think so i don't know i didn't know c wgn did uh did sitcoms like that yeah you wouldn't get it i thought it was thought it was just nothing but cubs and cubs 24 7 and bowls yeah watched a lot of tony coo coach on wg and yeah i was more of uh um
Starting point is 00:40:22 the Atlanta Braves on TBS. Dude, freaking loved some WCW on TBS some freaking WCW Thunder and that was my jam. Yeah. Did you watch Saturday night's
Starting point is 00:40:36 main event last night? No, I did. They had Danhausen tag team partner Carl Anthony Towns. lame. Carl Anthony Towns is a dork. He is a dork.
Starting point is 00:40:50 If he wasn't such a dork, then. Well, I mean, I guess that makes sense for Danhaus. Yeah. If he fits, they fit the vibe, yeah. Yeah. But, dude, I don't, you're, you don't like the, you don't like the zesty cat, dude. Dude, I, what's the?
Starting point is 00:41:09 Oh, my God. Zesty cat, uh, TikToks are hilarious. Um, but no, dude, I'm mad at, I'm so mad at WWE because they fucked up WCW. So now you can't watch WCW anywhere. You got to like subscribe to some Godforsaken YouTube channel. They don't have any of it on, no. On Netflix? No.
Starting point is 00:41:36 None. And then they, ESPN gets all the paper reviews and ESPN sucks. And then they've got, you know, Netflix. Like, no offense, but like Netflix is always the first one out for me. They overcharge. Now they overcharge for Netflix. because they bought all this content. It just,
Starting point is 00:41:55 it belonged on Peacock. It was a beautiful fit. Should have stayed there. Yeah. I do. With all of it. WCW, too.
Starting point is 00:42:04 I know. I do miss the, I do miss the old, the WWE network when they had that going. That was the best. Because it had it by date. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:13 You could watch, dude, I used to watch all of it in order. Yeah. It was unhinged. I'd watch the Raws into, like I started on the first episode. to raw in 1996 and just like well and then it'd be like okay time for the pay-per-view and then watch
Starting point is 00:42:29 the i tried to do it with uh monday nitro too oh yeah i did i did i did a big stretch of nitros all in a row but um that was that was when it was on reviews i'd stop them pause the nitros to watch the paper yeah i did i did a few i did a few of those because but when i was doing it It was when it was on peacocks. It was harder to, you know, it was harder to stay in order. Yeah. Yeah. The WWE network app was amazing.
Starting point is 00:42:59 And all that, dude, it was worth the $10 a month for the pay-per-views each month, like, without ads. And all the different, just old stuff that you could get and all the shows. Like, it was, oh, God, we just didn't know what we had, Brandon. They just, they fucked everything up. You don't know what you got till it's gone. I know it's like college football in these goddamn conferences. I hate them, Brandon. I'm just,
Starting point is 00:43:28 I'm that guy now. I just, I hate the new conferences. I feel you. There's, yeah. I mean, we've talked about this before.
Starting point is 00:43:37 That's how I feel with like modern baseball. Yeah. Also, but didn't great band, modern baseball. But I didn't, speaking specifically of major league baseball, every time they make,
Starting point is 00:43:49 a change. I get like old man yelling at clouds where I'm like, what the fuck are we doing? Rob, Rob Bantredd is the devil. Yeah. I just want to go back to the old big 12. When the big 12 was 12 teams, when the big 10 was 10 teams. You know, I think they're going to, I just, I miss that. Because the big 12 is it, are they at 14 right now? I don't know. But they, I think they were talking add more to you i forget who they were talking about but i don't know big 10th 20 it's uh is you ready it's the year one of the the new pack 12 that has eight teams in it i think don't even get me started it's so dumb for washington oh it's color colorado color state though pack 12 baby no rams co rammies yeah we are the c s u rammies that's a
Starting point is 00:44:47 kind of know, Kelly sings a song, whatever I bring up to S here. Also, it's year one, Lane Kiffin, down in the bayou. Yeah, I don't know. It's cautious optimism in Nebraska land, but I don't, I think we're probably staring at it down the barrel of six wins again. Yeah. How do you feel about the new uniforms? I like the number font.
Starting point is 00:45:19 The number of font is real nice. real classy but i don't i don't i don't care for the moving the stripes up to the shoulders i'm not a not a fan of that yep and the and the the the pants stripe where they they terminate halfway up those are fucking stupid that's like a that's like a 2006 design trend to we're we're 20 years past the pass the ball on this guys so we're we're staring down the barrel of a mediocre season thanks to these dumb jerseys yeah decided to maybe no there's no way there's there's no way there's going to be good vibes around this season with the dumb jerseys you just not how it works you can't have a dumb jersey and have a good season was it like 97 when you guys
Starting point is 00:46:01 had the like the side panels yeah and they and they had a terrible year yeah and then they got they got rid of the uniforms the next year so maybe maybe maybe you're looking at that's exactly what we're looking at and we're looking at matt rule's little seat getting real hot yeah he just is gonna be hot he has included clicked it all in there. No. No, no,
Starting point is 00:46:24 Lane Kiffin, that's for sure. No, he's floundering. And he just, he brings in, he like brought in all his guys for assistant coaches and waited too long to be like,
Starting point is 00:46:37 well, maybe I should just get the best assistance instead of my guys. Never hire your friends. That's what happened, old Frosty. That's what happened to. To the cake eaters podcast, too.
Starting point is 00:46:53 you're so stupid all right what are what's your cake what was the last thing you said about frost who's he banging volleyball players
Starting point is 00:47:06 he's banging volleyball players yeah yeah he I'm murdered at the country club all the time I mean just a
Starting point is 00:47:15 just a drunk sex fain frost yeah yeah but you cake you're giving me a second i got to i got to recover from old sex fiend whatever you said frosty uh-huh dude okay nothing nothing worse than a sex fiend did
Starting point is 00:47:42 i'm gonna go 3.25 for my 325 i like this movie it hit the spot could have been worse could have been by name i was worried you were gonna hate it So I'm glad you liked it. Especially coming off of Witness. I was like, oh, these are going to be two duds for Heath. Now, Ronnie and Julie was great. Witness, I started. And then I was like, you know, let me do Ronnie and Julie instead.
Starting point is 00:48:08 That was the first strike at Witness. That was like 20 minutes in. I was like, let me just do Ronnie and Julian instead. And then I went back. And then I was like, you know, let me watch a couple episodes to say by the Bell of college years. was Mike Golick's little brother. Michael's little, my goal has a little brother.
Starting point is 00:48:28 I thought so. Isn't that is, I thought that there was a golic in the, I don't, I don't know anything about saved by the bell, so. I didn't know he had a little brother though. I know he has,
Starting point is 00:48:40 uh, he was a bunch of kids. I think one of them was a pro baseball player. Right? Yeah. Bob Golick is his name. Robert. go look oh he was a football player too oh dude dude rob gollick with the mullet dude
Starting point is 00:49:10 this dude looks cool as fuck dude bob gollick crashed it on a college years why the why the hell is mike goleg uh famous one yeah why is he always on my on my shit i want more i need more bob gollick yeah he crushed it on say by the bell of college years it's definitely the play the player photo with him with the mullet is amazing you got that pulled up look at that it's a fantastic photo dude look at the dude the outfits he's got on for say by the bell he's crushing it yeah yeah that's fantastic him and screech really carry the the college years mad dog go lick I was his nickname.
Starting point is 00:50:09 Good for Bob. Good for Bob. Yeah. So you said... 3.25. 3.25. That's... That's a pretty high rate.
Starting point is 00:50:19 That's perfectly... It's perfectly... ...perfectly normally fine rating. I... I... I... I... I moderately enjoyed this movie.
Starting point is 00:50:34 It was strictly because of Margo and Joshua though if Margo Roby Margo Finley do you do you have any idea what we're talking about right now
Starting point is 00:50:49 I'm just sleep deprived but uh I feel like if it was if it was any other characters any other you know you swap those out for any other actors um I would not have enjoyed this movie at all
Starting point is 00:51:05 I think it's my enjoyment was strictly nostalgic with Joshua and Margo and like I said I hate all the other the side characters were driving me crazy but I'm going to give it
Starting point is 00:51:19 I'm going to give it a 2-2 he's a 2.2 not bad not great but watchable watchable and yeah if you're a Joshua Jackson fan like we are definitely give it give it a shot because it's
Starting point is 00:51:33 it's like you said it's you get a little bit of the pacey coming through and it's very very reminiscent of Charlie like that one comment said he's reprised his role as Charlie yeah it's a PG movie I'd watch this with with the little one when she gets age appropriate very kid friendly yeah very kid friendly they don't even die it can can be kid can be more kid friendly you know
