Starting point is 00:00:00 What up, nerds? Jared here. Just when you thought we were done shipping shows from all things open 2024 we're releasing this 35 ish minute impromptu conversation with adam and i for changelog plus plus ears only it's better however i did pull out a few minutes for the public feed because everyone should have the opportunity and privilege to suffer through that rails joke that I make. So what I'm bringing up is this idea that like this, like you had the Ford Bronco come back and that was gas-based, not EV-based. But then you have this Scout Motors, which I had no idea about a Scout.
Starting point is 00:00:59 So this is all new to me. It's not a Jeep? I don't even know. It's not a Jeep. It looks like a Jeep. It's not a Jeep though. Is it because Jeep's just a brand? Yes. A manufacturer.
Starting point is 00:01:09 It's got this nostalgia from back in the day. It's a square SUV. It looks like a Jeep Wrangler. Yeah. Okay. It looks Bronco-ish, too, right? Yeah, yeah. Wrangler-ish, Bronco-ish. It's got this...
Starting point is 00:01:18 It's a Scout. This older style to it. Okay. I'm not trying to harp on Scout, Scout necessarily or Scout Motors, but this idea of take what was old and modernize it as an EV. What if we take what's old and make it new again? Yeah, this idea.
Starting point is 00:01:33 And this is a metaphor for rails? Sure. No, but I was just like thinking, are you down with that? Are you down with like, take the old school and make it new school and it's EV new school? If it's well executed.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Yeah. Because you take the same exact concept to movies and I say no unless it's well executed then I'll say yes. Then you'll say yes. Yeah, for sure. What's a good well executed
Starting point is 00:01:59 since we're going to movies? Didn't we do this with we tried to figure out when we had Emily Freeman and Justin on the show. Right. A good remake or a good reboot. Yeah, a good reboot. And we decided that Blade Runner was pretty good and that Dune.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Dune was good, yeah. Was pretty good. So, yeah, I mean, if you're going to do it. Dune's kind of standalone, though. It's a remake, but it's not. It's a different version of the same story. They're telling the same story, though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:22 It's a reboot. Yeah, it is a reboot. Okay. So, I is a reboot. Okay. So I'm not against the idea. I'm against the way it's executed poorly. And so if Scout kills it, then I want one. You want one. I do want one.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Here's why I want an EV. I hate oil changes. I hate the complication and the complexity of an internal combustion engine. I like the simplicity and the lack of maintenance on an EV.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Now, what I don't like about an EV is it's one giant battery that just goes bad eventually, you know, or blows up. But what I do like about it is I'm used to taking care of batteries. I feel like I can take care of a battery better than I can take care of ice. Yeah. I drive an F-250, as you know. That's a large internal combustion engine.
Starting point is 00:03:18 It's a diesel engine. It's even different than a gas engine. Yeah, it's diesel. And it has the requirement of DEF fluid. Are you familiar with DEF fluid? Say again? DEF fluid. I think I have some DEF fluid in my ear. DEF.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Are you making fun of DEF fluid on this podcast? No, I'm making fun of you. Oh, okay. Gotcha. DEF. I think it stands for... Oh, DEF jam records. Diesel exhaust fluid. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:43 I believe. DEF. Acronym. I will believe you because I have no way fluid. Okay. I believe. Def. Acronym. I will believe you because I have no way of checking it. Me either. I'm believing me as well. Okay. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Anybody with a computer could prove that wrong. Well, so it requires diesel. Engine. Some say diesel. Not diesel. Diesel. I say diesel. I say diesel too.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Okay. Why did you call it diesel then? I'm cool with either actually. I'm cool with diesel or diesel. What about Vin Diesel? Or Vin Diesel? Oh, yeah. Vin Diesel. I say diesel. I say diesel, too. Okay. Why did you call it diesel, then? I'm cool with either, actually. I'm cool with diesel or diesel. What about Vin Diesel or Vin Diesel? Oh, yeah. Vin Diesel. I'm cool with either one of those.
Starting point is 00:04:09 I think he's actually a diesel. Yeah, he's more of a diesel, I think. He's the example where it's got to be a Z. Yeah, I agree. So, I require, my vehicle requires diesel as well as def fluid. This is a Changelog++ exclusive. As well as deaf... support our work with your hard-earned cash or your employer's personal development fund, if that's a thing. In return, we hook you up with an ad-free feed, send you a sweet sticker pack, extend many of our episodes with bonuses, and once in a while, ship exclusive episodes like this one for Changelog++ ears only. Once again, that's changelog.com slash plus plus.
Starting point is 00:05:06 There's a link in the show notes for you. Yeah.
