The Chris Cuomo Project - Chris Cuomo EXPOSES Lies Behind the Government Shutdown

Episode Date: October 2, 2025

A Trump White House video blames Democrats for the government shutdown — accusing them of pushing $1.5 trillion in spending, “open borders,” and even “health care for illegal aliens.” Chris ...Cuomo shows how these exaggerated claims are designed to stoke anger, divide voters, and make outrage the easiest path to political wins. Cuomo examines why both parties exploit grievance, how shutdown threats are more about blame than solutions, and the growing role of social media in fueling America’s hate machine. He challenges the idea that division is inevitable — and asks what it would take for Americans to stop rewarding politics of outrage. Starting point is 00:00:00 Democrats, the party of open borders, transgender for everybody, lawlessness in our streets, are shutting down the government in an effort to appease the radical left. These Democrats are coordinating their strategy with outside leftist groups and are demanding nearly $1.5 trillion in spending for an agenda that includes health care for illegal aliens, and much, much more. Democrats for years have railed against government shutdowns, claiming a shutdown would mean much chaos and pain and needless heartache for the American people. Democrats are out of control, and you know who it hurts?
Starting point is 00:00:46 You, everyday people, and the most vulnerable, seniors, veterans, working families, hungry kids, y'all. Tell Congress to avoid. the Democrat-led government shutdown. And right there is why it's all going to hell in a handbasket. How can you watch that and not hate the left? Well, that's the way it was designed. It wasn't designed for you to feel differently about a particular issue, because what did you learn in that?
Starting point is 00:01:22 What do you know from watching that they said 1.5 trillion in additional spending to give a legal's health care do you believe that? Is that even close to the truth? No, I'll tell you right now it's not even close to the truth in fact nothing in that was close to the truth those were all gross exaggerations okay And the truth is enough. The Democrats have problems on a lot of issues, right? They're just lucky, as are the MAGA folks or whatever the Republican Party now is,
Starting point is 00:02:07 that they're only two of them. They're only two parties. So you've got to choose one of these fuckers, right? So it's just a battle of the bottom of which side is worse. And that's all that is. But let me tell you something. They both win because grievance and how. outrage is everything. Everybody's angry. Everybody's getting more and more angry and more aggressive.
Starting point is 00:02:32 They both win. Their job's getting so easy. It's so easy to trigger you. They have to do so little work. And there's nothing that's going to stop it that I see. Nothing. I used to say extreme crisis. There's no crisis big enough. The pandemic, they just weaponized it, made it worse, created a whole new cottage industry of anti-vaxxers and anti-government people and all these other stupid B comics and hoodies saying stupid things for profit. It's all accelerating in the wrong direction and the same people who are doing the wrong things are making money by exploiting that truth. The only truth they tell you is that the only truth they tell you that things are getting worse, and it is true because they're making it worse.
Starting point is 00:03:27 And yes, we're all complicit, because even someone like me who rejects it, I don't know what to do about it. I could take you through point by point of that. Were they for open borders? Yeah, like AOC, and some of them on the crazy left, which happens to be the most popular part of the party. Why? Outrage is on the menu. And it is the choice of the day. You want someone who's going to piss you off. You see their extremism as strength. You see their incredible passion and conviction for the absurd as compelling. So that's how you wind up being pro-Hamas, globalize the Intifada, burn it down, defund the police. And MAGA's got its reciprocal things, right?
Starting point is 00:04:27 You think it's a coincidence? They used a black woman there, y'all, a bald black woman? Everything is a trope. Everything is a device. It's nothing wrong with being a black woman. black woman, but you can demonize one. You can weaponize one. On the border, the Democrats were wrong on the southern border and how they approached it. And boy, did it hurt Kamala Harris, that the only thing that administration gave her to do was to work on that, but she was
Starting point is 00:05:00 never going to do anything about it. It's just ironic that the ceremonial title she did get wound up haunting her. Soft on crime. Are they? Sure looks like it when they turn down the president's offer to help you with high crime cities. But shouldn't it matter what kind of help he's offering? Shouldn't it matter?
Starting point is 00:05:26 You really want the military on your streets? Really? You really think that that's freedom? Having military on the corners? Really? Have you ever been on vacation in, like, Mexico or South America, and you'll see guys walking down the beach with a machine gun? Is it make you feel safe? Is it make you feel like, holy fuck? Where am I? I don't think that that is civilization. I don't think that that is improvement. Can having military on every, yeah, well, you could have 100,000 police officers. You could have a police officer for every person. Why don't we do that? Because at a certain point, it becomes an infringement on freedom. You don't do things now because you're afraid of what's going to be done to you, whether it's right or wrong.
Starting point is 00:06:19 And, well, if you're not breaking the law, what do you care? You really think it's as simple as that? I don't. And by the way, I don't think it's legal to bring a National Guard the way he is. I don't. I think it should be tested. And I think it will. We're all accelerating in a bad direction.
Starting point is 00:06:44 And I know so many are enjoying the ride because they're making money off it. And it gives them, I guess they delude themselves into thinking that they're, you know, fighting the good fight. No, they're fighting the bad fight on purpose because it's getting them paid. It's getting them relevant. It's easy to do. It's so easy to play with an angry person. It's so easy to play to an angry person. And you know this.
Starting point is 00:07:14 You ever been in an argument with someone who's about to lose their shit and you're trying to like, you know, get them to calm down or whatever it is and you start saying little things and you see how quickly and easily they're triggered in a way they never are when they're calm, when they're not enraged, engagement is enragement it's the only thing that sells they're no more kitten videos
Starting point is 00:07:41 they're kitten videos saying i hate trump that's what they are you know saying fuck aOC and now you guys try to twist me into it i don't want anything bad to happen to aOC i think her policy ideas are bad i think some of her messaging is bad i like that she stood up there with the Republicans, and I like the Republicans who stood up there with her and said, no more trading stocks when you're in Congress. I think that's great. I'm one of the people who've been pushing for it. I've covered that probably more than anybody else with a platform like mine. I think that's good. So I say it when I think it's good, and I say it when I think it's not good. And all of you only except half.
Starting point is 00:08:31 And it's accelerating. It's getting worse. Why do you think Megan Kelly does what she does? Why do you think Laura Lumer does what she does? Why do you think Don Lemon is doing what he does? Why do you think the Midas Touch guys are doing what they do? Although I've got to say I see them as a moderating influence to this point. But my point stands. Everybody who's making it on social media is in the game of division and they are picking a side.
Starting point is 00:09:02 That is what works. And I am telling you, when you lose your philosophers, when you lose the people who go back and forth, that's not vacillation, it's not weakness, it's strength. It is easier to pick a side. You people actually think one is good and one is evil. It applies to like 80% of people on social media ingesting political content. You think the other side is evil, not wrong, not stupid, evil. Evil. That's what that ad is designed to say.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Transgender for everybody. What's the alternative? Transgender for nobody. That's the only other logical position, right? What does that mean? You're all going to be transgender. Your kids are going to go to school. They're going to chop off his dick.
Starting point is 00:10:14 I mean, that's where it takes us. That's where we are. so silly and stupid, just like calling Trump a fucking Nazi. Just like believing that if you say, hey, look, if he gets better trade deals and someone else winds up paying for these tariffs and the pricing goes the right way, then I'll say the tariffs worked out. Right now, they don't seem to be working out. How can you even say they could work out? What would you say to Hitler? I think what you're doing is wrong, but I like the uniforms.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Is that what you would say? No, that's not what I would say. Because there is nothing to mitigate the wrongness of that guy. These are policy positions. No, he hates immigrants. He hates them. His mother's an immigrant. Does he hate her?
Starting point is 00:11:12 I don't think so. I don't think he hated her. I have to check. Why are you defending him? Why do you stick up for him? Why are you maga? You maga. Or some of you say, you maga, you maga.
Starting point is 00:11:29 People with English as a first language, articulate people, you maga, you maga, you, you, you maga. That's what I hear. And that's just the new flush, right? The new flush. Why? because of me being so frustrated that the Democrats are trying to become what they're supposed to oppose. Hate machines, much less than subtly aggressive and violent, mocking, cheap, churlish, puerile. Look, Gavin Newsom is a great example.
Starting point is 00:12:13 His political fortunes have never looked better than they do right. now for all the wrong reason. You think that's the muscularity of response you want? No, it's not what you want. Him tweeting bullshit that he probably doesn't even write back to Trump. But you're so desperate for somebody to do something to push back on Trump that you'll take it. Am I right? I'm right, right? I know. I have you in my family. I know. And I have people who think that you're bad shit crazy in my family. Some of them are Democrats. Support for the Chris Cuomo project comes from Cowboy Colostrum. Okay. So my wife is an integrative nutritionist, right? And she's been talking the colostrum talk, all right? And then I did my research. Cowboy colostrum is on to something,
Starting point is 00:13:07 and now I'm using it in my coffee every morning. You will want a frother. Cowboy colostrum takes the guesswork out of wellness, okay? If you don't know what colostrum is, it is the first milk that mammals produce after giving birth, okay? It's not like regular milk. It's thicker, richer, and most importantly, it is packed with hundreds of bioactive ingredients that help support immunity, gut health, hair, skin, nails, athletic performance in ways that milk couldn't even imagine on its best day. It's like nature's original multivitamin designed by biology. not a lab, okay? Now, if you are into adult fitness, all right, meaning you're not a kid where you're just
Starting point is 00:13:53 exploding with hormones all the time, colostrum is a really smart way to give your body what it needs to grow and to maintain the muscle you have and the pliability of that muscle, how well everything works on you. That has been my experience thus far. My training has been consistent, if not better. I have a cold and I am not as sick as I normally would be. Starting point is 00:16:27 I only know what brings advantage for one side over the other. I think things are going to get worse. And I know I said, I don't think there's going to be worse. to be a shutdown because I thought the two sides were more vulnerable to downside that it turns out that they are. They believe as long as they can blame the other side, whether it's right or wrong, they're going to fucking go for it. That it is easier for them to not do their job and punish you, punish us, that even if it looks bad, even if it's like, you know, 40% think it's you and 42% think it's them, you win.
Starting point is 00:17:10 You win. More people hate them than hate me. All right. That's where we are. It's the House such small margins, a Senate relatively historically small margins. These elections so close, getting closer. Why? Because the division has gotten so fucking extreme that they found ways to tap into and shrink.
Starting point is 00:17:34 You shrunk the pool because there's so many people who are tuning out, tuning out. And that you've made them also equally angry that the margins are getting tighter and tighter. And they love that. Love it. Why? It takes less to win. Takes less. I don't even have to make anything happen.
Starting point is 00:17:55 I just got to promise you that he or she is going to ruin it. Godless. And it's getting trickier and trickier. Why? Well, because the old God people went in for a guy that everyone knows isn't religious. Right? All these critical. Character counts. Character counts. Character counts. Mike Pence was the death of that for me. He wrote this grandiose letter during Bill Clinton. You must judge him as you would your neighbor. It is not just the law. It must be the morality. The decency of what we know is right and wrong. In the written and spoken word of our Lord,
Starting point is 00:18:31 Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. I am Mike Pence, and I call my wife, mother. Then he saddles up next to Trump? Really? Bullshit, hypocrite. That's when I knew. Well, there goes a character counts party. That's it.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Because you're just about advantage. You just want to win. Oh, yeah, but we have to. They're so bad. And they've been doing this to us for so long that we have to do it. Sound familiar? Of course it does. Of course it does.
Starting point is 00:19:06 And there's logic to it. And there's poignancy to it. I get it. The same way that I get, these people are crazy. Look at what they're doing to the institutions. They're destroying the democracy. These are a bunch of affable idiots at the best who, frighteningly, may think they're actually doing the right thing. When they're doing the stupidest, wrongest thing...
Starting point is 00:19:31 And Trump is just so consumed with him that as long as they're talking about him, it's fine. And they change his subject every two seconds. And they're all over social media. They're destroying the democracy. These people are crazy. They hate everybody. They're a bunch of bigots. They're Nazis.
Starting point is 00:19:47 This is how it happened in 1933. This is how Rome fell. This is it. It's happening. Sound familiar? Yeah, I know. I hear it too. And, interestingly, what do I do?
Starting point is 00:19:59 I reject the fringes. I reject the sum that are holding the many hostage in a political system and a media and a culture of politics that is all about the loudest, squeakiest wheel. And I know social media is the root of it, and I don't know what to do about it. But I do believe these people should be held to account for what they decide to amplify in their algorithms. I know that has something to do with changing this trajectory, and it is scary. There's going to be more political violence. It is going to spread. It's going to start having different contexts.
Starting point is 00:20:35 There's going to be invasions on speech. And you're not going to give a shit. That's my big fear. You're going to lose the plot. That it's going to be all expedients. It's going to be straight up Thunderdome. That, you know, I mean, it's just like, I mean, there's signs of the apocalypse, right?
Starting point is 00:21:02 Like when Joe Rogan is taken more seriously than a scientist than a president. When he used to tell you at least all the time, what the fuck do I know? I'm a comedian and not a great one at that. But, you know, I'm a comedian and I'm curious. And that was the charm, right? Him talking to, like, amazing guests because they wanted his platform to inform or to sell or for whatever, good or bad reason. and he would listen and they'd talk for like a hundred hours and sometimes they'd be high. Now, we don't have philosophers.
Starting point is 00:21:38 We don't have experts. We don't respect writers and thinkers and scientists, statesmen. We don't have statesmen. Our senators are a fucking joke. It's all a joke. All these people in Congress, they're embarrassing. They're an embarrassment. The decorum rules don't even stand anymore.
Starting point is 00:22:05 These rules had a reason. Our institutions, everything is failing. It's all going the wrong way. What is even close to approximating greatness that we're seeing? Oh, how he's lost it, how he's lost it? No, he hasn't. I spend more calories than probably anyone you know fighting every temptation I just laid out. I just hear it all the time.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I just see it all the time. I see what I do as an act of faith in the future. I put myself and my family at risk to do this. You have no idea how refusing to pick a side has made me a target of both sides. And I'm a little sensitive to it because of my wife and kids. But otherwise, I would tell you all to fuck off and bring it in any way that you want. because that's who I am. That's what I'm about.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Okay? I'm built for where we're going. I'm like the cockroach. Okay? I'm going to survive. But unfortunately, what I do makes the people I love vulnerable. But the violence, the aggression, the might makes right. my idea isn't stupid if I can punch you in the face
Starting point is 00:23:51 that's my kind of party that's me at my worst but that's what you're asking for that's what you're asking us to be I'm bill for it right I'm the guy with 25 years of self-defense training right I'm the guy with you know more fist fights than you know your whole family has pairs of shoes but that's not who we want to
Starting point is 00:24:17 to be. That's not who we should be as a society. No way. And I know it deep in my bones. So I challenge it. I call it out. I fight against it. But I do not like where we're going. And I am losing. And I know it. I know I am. What do you think about what I'm saying? What am I missing? What are you relying on that you believe saved? the day. Let me know. Thank you for subscribing and following. Thank you for checking me out on News Nation, AP and 11P,
