I hate to say it, but it has become pretty clear that this administration and Donald John Trump, as president, are absolutely gearing up for an authoritarian style problem during the elections and near the end of his administration. All the signs are there, and I can spell them out for you in a very unique way, because what Donald Trump is doing is wrong in biblical proportions, and I can prove it. Chris Cuomo here. Welcome to the Chris Cuomo Project. Thank you for subscribing and following. This is going to be one to save and to come back to during the elections, after the elections, and when hopefully this administration ends the way. it is supposed to with a peaceful transfer of power.

Why do I say hope? Because I don't know that it happens. And I hate saying that. But I don't know that it happens. And I'll tell you why. And I'm going to tell you through the lens of Trump's seven deadly sins. Okay? This is right out of the Bible.

And he checks every box. Okay. Now, when you look at it through this lens, pride. Okay. Do you know what the seven deadly sins are? Pride, wrath, envy, greed, gluttony, lust and sloth. It's not so important that we have a religion lesson here because this isn't about religion. It's about our national religion.

It's about the Constitution and it's about an administration that clearly is looking to violate it. Now, pride in this sense is him believing that his own fortunes matter more than the many. He is violating his oath. He doesn't care about his oath. oath. Okay? That is completely clear. He doesn't respect the Constitution. He doesn't know it. And most importantly, he doesn't follow it. That's why you see ICE practicing the way he's having them practice, which is a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment. They're getting people that do not represent a threat to this country. And for those of you who say, well, if you're here illegally, then you're all

the same. One, I don't agree with you. And over seven out of ten are your fellow citizens don't agree with you. But even if you want to look at it that way, they're grabbing a lot of people who do not have final orders of removal. They're grabbing people who are citizens. They're grabbing people who are in process. So not only are they not just getting the bad omr raised, not only they're not getting the people that we overwhelmingly agreed on, which are what? You're here illegally and you are a violent criminal. Those are the people who are a direct threat to American communities that American people said, yes, that should be intolerable and it should be enforced as a matter of law and they should be removed. But you do it with due process.

You don't do it like a Gestapo. You don't do it like stormtroopers. Why? Because then you're no better than what you say you oppose, which is lawlessness. But Trump's pride has him ignoring those things and putting together with some useful idiots an ice agency that is really just the heat from the 60s. You know, what a field day for the heat, right? From Buffalo Springsfield. What is it? They're not police. They're just enforcers. They're not agents. They're not there as agents of the law. They are there regardless of the law. They are there for harshness, for aggression, for brutality and for lawlessness, often unconstitutionally so, because of his pride. Because of his pride. The next reason that we have to live in fear, even if you're not someone

that they are actively targeting through ice, is this president's wrath. He operates from a place of anger and rage against all who do not bend a knee. You don't think that Lindsay Graham knew this? He rest in peace, no matter what you think of him, he's dead. And that is something that should have some kind of sympathy. And I know you could say, well, I wouldn't have sympathy for Hitler. Look, not everybody you disagree with. Not everybody who doesn't do things the right way is a Nazi, okay? There are people acting like Nazis.

There are people who are out there enough and malignant enough that they are acting like that kind of regime. But Lindsey Graham knew that all. this man, all this president, all this very, very powerful official knows is fealty or fear. And his outrage is what is driving this president to abuse our democracy, our constitutional norms, and maybe refuse a peaceful transfer of power. I mean, you cannot. You cannot dismiss it as a possibility. You cannot ignore it as a probability. Why, it is his wrath. It is his desire to hurt those who do not allow him to do what he wants, who do not speak of him the way he demands. You see it with the press. This is why people like me got up and decided to fight back

when people were trying to say that Senator John Ossoff, who made a joke, about Natalie Harp and the plane that the Trumpers took as a sexual suggestion? I don't know that that's how he meant it, but even if he did, who are they to be outraged? Why? Because John Ossoff was disrespectful towards a woman, and they're defending that and being outraged in the name of Donald John Trump. When they just watch everything he says and does what he just did to Maggie Haberman. And by the way, all of you people saying, yeah, but she's a shitty reporter. But she's really a hack. But is she a female or not?

Okay, is he talking about her like she's a farm animal or not? Is he calling her disgusting things or not? Is she not a wife? Is she not a mother? Is she not someone's daughter? His wrath has become contagious with the magafoke. And too many of them embrace the same. And wrath as an instinct and a leadership.

Ideal and mechanism is anathema to democracy. Vengeance is not a mandate. Okay? Now, he did say this. I am your retribution. Now, what did he really mean? I am my own retribution. I will have retribution against all those who stood in my way of having absolute power.

And if there's something in it for you, fine. But he doesn't really give a shit about you. right you know that now don't you pride wrath envy oh he's got a bad case of the green-eyed monster bad case why because he's not great because he's not great he's not rush more material and he knows it and he hates it he hits it there's a narcissism i'm not a psychologist, but there is a belief that he is the best that he has that no one else has ever shared in his life, nor has any measure ever. Well, that's not true. He got more votes than ever. Yes, he did, but what do we see? Every election winds up having basically a new amount of popular vote, right? Why? Because there are more people in the country. So, fine. He can have it.

Um, he, you know, he earned it, right? He got the votes. But his envy, ooh, he hates Obama. Why, Obama was considered great. Obama was considered popular. Remember, the main mandate he had for Jared Kushner when he won the first time in 2015, 2016 was what? DJT 100. What is that? DJT 100 was his. program to get to 100% popularity. Why? Because that's what he saw his success. I want everyone to like me. And what is that a function of? His envy. He wants to be liked. He wants to be adored. He wants to be revered. Oh, they all do. I don't know. I don't know. I know they want to be effective. I know they want to remember be remembered. I know they want to be historic, but the insatiable appetite, the desire that this man has for being adored is unusual. And his envy of other presidents, of other leaders, the envy that he has is truly a deadly sin. And it has led him to be abusive of norms, of people,

of policies, of allies, because of his need to feed his own ego. And that's why he has trashed our relationship with Canada and Mexico, Europe, NATO. Why? Because they don't love me. They don't bend the knee. And just as it is true, in my opinion, that B.B. Netanyahu is not the least. leader to be in place of what you want is peace in the Middle East. Okay, if you want peace in the Middle East, and look, people who are saying, hey, who are you to comment on BB? Who are you to comment on Trump? Who are you to comment on America? I mean, we all have a right to an opinion about anything, certainly in this country. The envy combined with the pride and the sense of wrath has created this

vortex of vitriol, this appetite for an untold. type of power and abuse of power and his ability to take power from other institutions and from other people has become a contagion. Pride, wrath, envy. Now you get the real high-value ones for Donald Trump. greed, gluttony, lust, and sloth. Okay? Sloth is the only one that he's going to get a little bit of a pass on because I don't like

the way he spends his energy and his time, but he does have a lot of energy and he does spend a lot of time. Yeah, he golfs a lot, but this guy's taking meetings and making phone calls. I don't like what they're about. I don't like to what purpose they are. But sloth means something different here. Sloth in the context of Donald Trump means that he is being lazy about his oath of office. He is being lazy and he is being delinquent in doing what he was supposed to be doing what he promised to do. So that's what sloth is, okay, in this context. But the greed among the seven dead. sins, you know, the greed has the most connective tissue with the rest of them. And we have never seen anybody be more sinful than the Trump administration when it comes to greed. The amount of unabashed

in your face corruption, graft and grift, giving his sons repeated preferences on government contracts that they have no business getting, allowing his son-in-law. Allowing his son-in-law, to bilk Arabs for money. Using cutter like a piggy bank, this is what he did with crypto, what he does with everything. The greed is astonishing. This guy didn't even need the money.

That's how deadly the sin is, that the greed is completely gratuitous. This isn't a guy like, hey, this is my chance, man. I got to go for mine. I got to shoot my shot. he already had the money the gluttony it's never enough just like it is with his diet it's never enough lying it's never enough deception it's never enough anger it's never enough outrage it's never enough greed it's never enough ego it's never enough the gluttonous nature of this guy's demand

and insatiable appetite for attention and praise and false glory. It never ends. The greed and the gluttony go hand in hand. And they are motivated by what is at the core of this guy's essence. Lust. Lust. He wants to be what he can never be. He wants to be great.

He wants to be remembered. He wants to be the best. But he doesn't want it for the right reasons. He doesn't want it because he did great things. He just wants to be called great. That's why he doesn't really care about what he does. That's why he doesn't really seem to respect the oath. and the power and the duty of what you do with America's might, what used you put it to,

where, when, and of course, why. He sees those considerations as tedious. He doesn't want to do the homework. He wants you to give him an A and say he's smart. And he's okay with you giving him an A and telling him he's smart, even though he has to know, or maybe he doesn't. Maybe he is broken in a way. You know, I do believe in TDS, you know.

I believe in Trump derangement syndrome. I just believe I don't have it that MAGA does. Because, I mean, they're watching things happen that they know or wrong and they're saying that they're right. Oh, yeah, Iran was about to get a nuclear weapon. So it's good that Trump finally did something. They know that's not true. They know that this wasn't about an imminent threat. This was about a distraction from what's happening here at home.

This is about him wrongly believing that just because one thing happened in Venezuela, that that same kind of outcome would happen wherever you try it. I mean, talk about stupid, right? And he figured he could just lie his way out of it because you'll believe whatever he says. He told you, I could kill somebody on Fifth Avenue. My people would still vote for me. I hate that he's right because it's so bad for the country. It's so bad for us.

And it puts the people who voted for him, some of whom did so in good faith because they were desperate for what was happening, for something better to happen. And he connived and he sold them something. And I feel for those people. I know many of you don't. But not all MAGA people are deplorables. They're not all bigots. They're not all people who just do bad things to people because they think of it. it's better for them.

But it is hard for me to ask anybody to look at anything without jaundice at people who repeatedly tried to put us in this position and made this okay. And I get it. I get it. And that is a deadly sin as well. And many of us are guilty of it. And I even see myself. I mean, I never voted for Donald Trump.

I don't think that that was really ever an option. I think he disqualified himself from office many, many times over. And I really wish he was different. I really wish that he did things differently for different motivations. And he made different choices. I really wish he did because I don't want to see bad things for America. I'd rather have someone I don't respect be successful than not successful if that means that the country suffers. Pride of putting himself first.

Wrath of seeing anything other than his own ambition as hateful and something to target and diminish. The envy that goes with his lust. The envy of wanting to be something he's not, which is great and competent. He's never been a great businessman. Only you thought that if you watched this TV show. Okay? But the reality is not a reality show. They're very different things.

And he's always been jealous of the real businessman. That's why when he used to say, man, I hate the Wall Street guys. I hate these guys. He wasn't lying. He does hate them. He was jealous of them. They never respected him. The real commercial, real estate guys.

who actually built things, who actually changed communities, not just building stupid gold stuff in golf clubs. He was jealous of them. He was envious. And he meant it when he wanted to see those kinds of guys tormented. Why wouldn't he? He thinks they're better than him.

So he wants to see them suffer. Wrath, envy, greed, even though he has so much money, even though he could have been what he promised. Look, I have. the money. They can't buy me. I'm going to drain the swamp. I'm going to clean it up because I know how they do it because I've played that game for years. I know the game. I'm a master of the game. And they can't buy me and they can't hurt me because I have my own money. He didn't even need to do any of this.

He didn't need to sell your sneakers. He didn't need to do any of this. He didn't need to sell you hats. make America great again. The problem with that slogan, same as when Trump made it, is that it's the again. What time was better than now? Pride, wrath, envy, greed, gluttony, lust and sloth. These are the seven deadly sins.

Yes, Pope Francis may rest in peace added to them. Abuse of the environment, extreme wealth, some other stuff. But I think sticking with the original set. is enough. And when you do that, what you see is that this president is sinful in ways that are morally toxic and obvious. And I think when you look at it through this prism, it is his committing of the seven deadly sins that explains why his administration has been so, toxic to so many and why he is someone who inspires the worst in people and he inspires people to reject in a way I've never seen before the way he's destroyed the respect for our institutions

instead of making them better I've never seen a leader lead by making things worse on purpose He is a virus to the American corpus. He is not a remedy. He is not a cure. He is a virus. And for a lot of people, that's what they wanted, was for him to make us sick, to give us a fever. But hopefully we would, you know, wind up breaking

and wind up in a better place when it cleared. But that doesn't really seem to be happening. It seems to just be getting worse. And it's because of his pride, his wrath, his envy, his greed, his gluttony, his lust, and his sloth. And I think that the seven deadly sins is kind of an easy way to package the problem and to make you see it for what it is. And if we can all get on the same page with the easy part, we can get all on the same page with the hard part. The easy part is having the majority of people in this country look around and realize that we're right about what's wrong. And he's certainly at the center of that analysis.

But then once you do that, it's got to be all right. We got to get obsessed with better. Not with blame because we know it's his fault. It's their fault. But what's going to make it better? What's going to make what's wrong better? No more right and left. It's right and wrong.

How do we fix America first? How do we do those things? So package your criticism of him, do it tight, and do it repeatedly. And you can do it right through the seven deadly sins, as I just showed you, especially with people of faith. That'll be a good way to kind of turn their nose back in the right direction. But then you've got to get obsessed with better. Can we do that?

We'll see. But it surely is clear enough if you're looking for what's wrong. It's right in front of your face. Now is a time to brand back and to make your witness and to show people what you're about and what you're not about.
