All right, I posted the LinkedIn link.
So people can see my profile there.
They can also see a little bit about the nonprofit.
And I've got a link on the book that will lead them to Amazon, Barnes & Noble's, and Apple Books.
Okay.
And give us a 30,000 overview.
What's in this book?
A Guide for New Believers?
Well, and part of this stems from my own personal journey.
and from my grandparents' personal journey, they kept a lot of notes from Sunday school service,
sermons from pastors.
And just over the past couple of years, I've taken those notes and compiled them to preserve them.
And my grandmother and I talked about this.
And sometimes when a person comes to faith in Jesus Christ, they're not sure what to do next.
So this book covers some basic guidelines and sort of a travel guide through the question of walk.
Ah.
So if they're a beginner believer, this is helpful for them to kind of understand the lay of the land?
Yes, sir.
Or the pathway, I guess.
You have this beautiful cover, and there's a tree sump on the middle of it, and the roads converge to two different pathways.
And there's kind of, I believe, a Bible or some sort of maybe script.
sure that's there. It's probably a guide of some type. So that's kind of interesting.
And the backside is also interesting because on the back, it shows a road heading to a mountain.
So when you use a map or a guide, you can get to your destination.
So it's a, it's a, I forget what they call it. It's a thing that infers that as well.
And I suppose is the bad place you go to the valley and the good place is the mountain?
or how does that work when the splitting of the of the road there?
Well, it's actually funny you say that because even the Bible tells us that sometimes we go through the valley of the shadow of death.
It sounds 23.
And then sometimes, you know, we're on top of the mountain through our spiritual walk.
So this actually helps encourage new believers that, you know, you're not going to go in life is an easy life.
The Christian life is a battle.
we're told to put on the whole armor of God because we are in warfare at that point.
This kind of helps them get them prepared for that.
And one of the things I encourage new believers to do is not only can they use this book,
but I tell them to find a good Bible preaching church.
That way they can get the discipleship.
They can become mature Christians.
And I know there's some variations of the Christian faith.
you know, there's the Baptists and some different silos of kind of differing beliefs that sometimes
don't converge or, you know, some people, you know, like my, my uncle used to be a very staunch,
hard-hardened to Southern Baptist and, you know, he didn't believe in dancing and, you know,
that was the devil dancing, you know, just going to a prom dance, you know.
And so, you know, some people have different variations.
Does this book kind of help bridge the gap across, you know, general Christianity,
Maybe it can. Basically, there's 12 lessons in it, and it's designed to help the believer get into studying the Bible.
Instead of just reading it, they'll read, they'll have memory verses, there'll be some details,
and then they'll have to search the scriptures to answer questions at the end of the chapter.
So it'll get them immersed in actual Bible study.
Some of the topics that are covered in this book are the assurance of salvation.
And that's one of the weapons the devil likes to use is to cause new believers to doubt their Christianity and their salvation,
especially if in their walk they make a mistake, they sin.
You know, he'll say, oh, see, you're not a Christian anymore.
Well, that's not true.
That's the very first chapter in this book.
it provides assurance that even though you make a mistake, there is forgiveness in Christ and you don't lose yourself.
What about those people that keep making mistakes?
They don't, they never learn from their mistakes.
It seems like they just, you know, go to confession every week and, I murdered another person.
Sorry, my bad.
You know, people like that.
You address any of that sort of thing where, hey, man, you got to learn from your mistakes and not keep doing it, right?
And actually, I'm glad you brought that up.
because one of the chapters in this book, there's two chapters that really can cover that,
is called The Christian and his prayer life, and then a life of obedience and sins effect.
Now, when you become a Christian, we don't become sinless.
We don't become perfect, but we are to demonstrate a life where we sin less and not continue in habitual sinning.
Ah, you got to stop the habitual sinning.
Because otherwise, you can just have the,
to get out of jail card that you just punch every time you,
you don't want to take accountability for something.
Exactly.
The devil may even do it.
No, I think it was you and maybe you should just shape up and ship out.
You know, I've seen a lot of people do that that I've been around,
where they just, they kind of use as a get out of jail free card.
And you're like, you can't just keep punching the card, man.
You got to amend your behavior.
No, and even Jesus said you will know them by the fruit that they produce their lifestyle and how they walk.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's really interesting.
So what are some your favorite key components that you recommend in the book or maybe passages or lessons?
Tees us out a few, if you would.
Well, one of the things, one of my favorite verses comes out of Matthew chapter 28, 19, and 20.
And you would actually find this in all four Gospels in the Book of Acts is the Great Commission.
Now, Jesus told his disciples, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things.
One of my favorite friends and spiritual mentors has always said,
this is the Great Commission, not the great suggestion.
And I think a lot of people get confused.
between the difference of what Christ said to preach the gospel and being a pastor of a church.
There is a major difference.
All believers are called to preach the gospel.
That means to share their testimony of how they came to faith in Christ.
That's preaching the gospel.
There is a difference between building the local church and pastoring and shepherding,
as Christ told us, you know, shepherding the flock or other believers.
Preaching the gospel is for all believers.
Pastoring the churches for those who are called by the Lord to that position of authority.
Ah.
That makes sense.
That makes sense.
So what was the proponent that made you want to write this book?
What was the aha moment?
And you were like, you know, I want to take and cover this.
said you written about this stuff before or was this the first time?
This is actually the first time I've written a book.
And like I said, my grandparents had a big part in that because of all their notes from Sunday school lessons, from sermons, from the different churches they attended when they were younger.
My grandfather is no longer with us.
He passed away in 87.
He's up in heaven with the Lord.
I know that for a fact.
Because I had his example.
He would witness to everybody.
came across. He would pass out a track. He would ask about their spiritual needs. And that's
where I learned a lot about sharing the gospel. But their notes, when I was compiling them and preserving
them, I started to see a pattern of topics that could be beneficial. And so my grandparents have had a
real, a big influence on, you know, taking their notes and sermon notes that they preserved
and compiling it into a book.
Ah.
And so you put it together and how's it been received so far?
What do people give you feedback on?
Well, I've actually had my spiritual mentor read it.
I've actually had a district court judge down here in North Carolina where I'm at read it and he is very, very pleased with it.
I've had a vice president of a bank who is also a believer in Christ.
I gave her a couple of copies, and she read it, and she was really impressed,
and they would like to use that as like a future discipleship class for new believers.
So the individuals that I've distributed the book to have read it,
and they've really enjoyed it.
Maybe some, you know, aesthetic constructive criticism, a little, you know,
maybe a different cover or something, but as far as the structure,
the chapter order and the outlines in the book and the chapters.
Nobody's really giving me any negative feedback about that.
But I am open to that.
I can always learn from constructive criticism.
Do you see maybe a follow-up to the book or a second part of the book?
Maybe you can do an advanced guide for people or an expert guide.
Actually, somebody asked me about that and I said, you know what?
I will have to really sit and think about that and, you know, decide what to put into the advanced version.
Because advanced version would be for those who are growing spiritually and maybe dealing with the call of the Lord upon their heart to Christian service, whether it be pastoring a church, being a missionary, being a Christian businessman.
I need one.
I just got a new husky puppy, and it has the energy of a crackhead doing even more crack.
And so is there a book out, or maybe in this book, something that can teach me about how to exercise demons?
Because clearly this, well, it's a husky.
So it, there by nature is a demon.
So I don't know.
I'm just being funny.
Yeah.
Maybe that could be the advanced or the expert.
How to perform exorcisms.
Possibly.
I can send it to a few of my exes.
So tell us about, I think you have a, I think it was a charity or you have a project that you do or website that you do to help others.
Tell us about that.
So back in April of last year, I started searching the Word of God Daily Incorporated.
It is a nonprofit based here in North Carolina.
And the goal is to get Bibles and Bible studies into the hands.
of men and women first throughout the United States and then spread out from there.
I'm not going to call them inmates, but I do have about three Bible students who are currently
requesting Bible studies, and one of the students has requested information on attending Bible
College. And so I've got that information prepared and getting ready to send to him,
and hopefully once he reads through everything, if he decides to pursue that goal of getting his
master's of divinity degree, our nonprofit will sponsor his education for that Bible college.
You know, I'd say a lot of people in prison, that's the time when they kind of reflect on what
they've gone through and maybe done and hopefully maybe take some self-accountability and do some work
on themselves. And sometimes Christianity is a great way to help people in that,
particular thing.
Oh, absolutely, because, you know, there's only one of two ways somebody's going to come out of prison.
They're going to be a better person, be a contributing individual to society and be a better citizen,
or they're going to be a better criminal.
Especially, like you said, if they have not taken accountability and really reflected on the harm they may have caused other people,
then they're going to be a better criminal.
They're going to learn, well, maybe I can get away with it the next time.
Yeah, I'll just get better at getting away with it.
And if our organization can get Bible studies and Bibles into the hands of men and women,
hopefully they will learn to get into a deep study of the Bible and realize that the path they are currently on is not the right path.
And hopefully it will prepare them that when they are released,
least, they can be, hopefully, a Christian and a better person upon release.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, that's a great.
And how long have you been doing that?
So we just finished our first full operating year as of April 1st.
Mm-hmm.
In fact, we've already sent about seven Bibles to a state prison in Virginia, to a chaplain
up there.
and one of his students up there, Bible students, has requested Bible studies from our organization.
And I have one student in Canada who has requested Bible studies as well.
Huh.
Well, that should be pretty wild.
That should be pretty wild.
And so, yeah, so there might be future books and stuff.
Did you grow up?
How did you grow up?
What were some of your influences?
And when did you first discover religion or re-raised religion and yada, yada, yada?
Yon. Well, when I grew up, I grew up, my grandparents raised me from nine months old
onward. And so I grew up going to church. I grew up singing in children's choirs all the way
through high school. My grandfather, when I was about five years old, I had the opportunity
of having him lead me to the Lord because I asked him a simple question one day as he was
taking me to school. I asked him, what is the lie?
And from that point, he explained what lying was, that lying is a sin.
And that sin has to be punished by God because God is holy.
And then he explained that Jesus Christ came down in human fashion.
He lived a sinless life perfect for 33 and a half years.
And he willingly went to the cross, died on the cross,
and provided a way for mankind to get to heaven.
And that's by accepting by faith his work on the cross to cover the payment for our sin.
And so at that age of five, I accepted Christ as my Savior.
And like I said, the Christian walk has been a life of warfare.
I have my ups and downs too.
I am not perfect.
Yeah.
No human is. I think that's the interesting thing about humans is the infallibility or the fallibility.
So what do you hope when people read this book they come away with and their impressions of the book and what the message is?
Well, I hope that, you know, for new believers, they'll be a lot more grounded in their faith.
Because, you know, the very beginning can be a little shaky.
but when they read this book and they start looking through and studying the Bible,
looking at the scriptures, providing their answers,
they'll get a better understanding of, you know, what to look for and what they're,
what's required of them.
Now, the other thing is this book could also be geared for those who may not necessarily believe in the Christian faith.
but, you know, they may have acquaintances or interactions with those who are.
It could answer some of their questions about why their friends, other family members, acquaintances, do the things that they do, why they live the life they live.
Well, it should be good for everyone in that sense and format, and I'm glad you've discovered writing and telling stories and things.
Do you ever consider doing like novels or anything like that?
Not really, no.
I've been a student of the Bible for years, and so this is really where my focus would be.
Writing a novel or a series of novels has never really crossed my mind, but that's not to say it wouldn't happen at some point.
Yeah.
Might be kind of interesting there.
Well, as we round out, give people a final pitch out to pick up your book and check out your things you do on your website to help others.
