Hi, this is Chris Foss here from thechrisfossshow.com. Hey, come to hear another great
NAB booth interview 2019. If you get a chance, come see AVL Technologies.
They're in the outdoor pavilion between South Hall and Central Hall and I'm here
with Crystal. Crystal, how are you doing today? I'm doing great, thank you. How are you?
That's awesome, Sauce. So we've been walking by your booth a couple times. You
guys got this huge rotating, what I keep calling a turret which I'm sure this is probably not the
technical term but it's pretty cool it's this giant thing moving around the
satellite moving around probably finding the right signal I probably need one of
these for my cable box. So tell us about you guys and what you guys do.
AVL Technologies makes satellite communications equipment we make antennas you can see
we have the smaller ones that sit on the ground.
These are called flyaways.
They easily disassemble, pack into a couple of cases.
You can step on an airplane, fly anywhere in the world, set them up within a few minutes,
and be on a satellite.
The other thing we are known for that we always display at NAB would be our vehicle mount
antennas
and that's what this is behind me. It's a 1.2 meter antenna. The beauty of having it on a
pickup truck is that if you're in an urban area with a big truck you probably have blockage by
buildings especially if it's a really dense urban area. With a pickup truck like this you can go
into a parking deck go to the roof and have a full view of the sky so it's just something we wanted to show off to our customers and friends at nab this year I
like it you guys got a great booth right here on the corner well thank you that's pretty darn nice
because uh everyone's walking by and seeing you guys so it's a nice place to be in fact for those
of you who are looking for an nab there's the Central Hall and we have the South Hall down
below and so you can walk right by this,
you'll see the rotating satellite stuff.
So what's the website people can look you guys up at?
You can find AVL Technologies at avltech.com.
Now, how much data can these guys transport?
Is there like any specs and stuff?
The antenna behind me is a fairly standard product.
It's not meant for having really big amplifiers and pushing tons of data through.
It can still do a lot more than you actually think it can.
But the larger the antenna, the more power you can push through.
It's also the data throughput is determined by which satellites you're using as well.
So this one we're showing is KU band. If you were to go to a different frequency, go to KA band. In a high throughput
satellite, you can get even more to go through. Wow. So I might want to use this during the zombie
apocalypse. Get one of these for my car so I can still get cable during the zombie apocalypse.
And then I can just, you know, I can drive and run from the zombies, right? And then I'll still
get cable, pretty much.
I think that's what I'm going with.
So this is pretty awesome.
Anything else we need to know about you guys' company
and what you guys do?
We're celebrating our 25th year of business this year,
which for a satellite communications company
is a pretty big deal.
That's awesome.
And we're very proud of that.
Congratulations.
Thank you.
It's a big deal, so we're celebrating this year with NAB,
and just really enjoying touching base with our customers and showing off new products like this.
Along with 25 years in business, we know that we've now shipped about 25,000 antennas worldwide.
Wow.
We have antennas on every continent, and they're used for everything from broadcasting the Olympics or the Super Bowl.
When you're watching TV at home, there's a really good chance
you're watching something being broadcast through an AVL antenna.
Oh, wow.
And it's also highly likely that all of our soldiers out behind enemy lines right now
are using our products to communicate back to their leadership as well.
So we're proud to know that we're supporting our troops as well. So you guys use this in military, that's really
cool. I can see why you know they put it on the back of a truck. The military is actually
our top customer. Wow that is awesome. What a great reference too. I mean
because they're pretty they're pretty sticky as to what they do. So they probably
have to pass a lot of hurdles and all that good stuff to get certified. For the military the military, we make antennas that are much, much larger than this, too.
That is awesome.
We do whatever custom work they need.
They tell us what they need, and we're very agile and do custom modifications for our
military customers and just do whatever they need.
For broadcasters, it's a little different.
It's more of a standard product.
Awesome sauce. Awesome sauce. Give us the website where people can look you guys up one more time.
AVL Technologies can be found at avltech.com. All right, thank you very much. Certainly appreciate
it. Be sure to come by the booth, guys. NAB 2019. It's the AVL Technologies right between the South
Hall and the Central Hall. Thanks for coming by. Thank you.
