Hi folks, Chris Voss here from thechrissvossshow.com.
Hey, we're coming to you with another podcast.
We're covering all the really cool stuff at CES 2020.
Holy crap, it's here, the future at CES.
So you're going to be seeing all the booth interviews we're doing, which you've seen so far.
And be sure to watch for more.
There'll be a whole mess of more stuff coming out in the next couple days.
We are at the Black & Decker suite that they have here at the Venetian.
You can check this video out.
We'll give you some details here in a second. But we're here to see
the Priya and it's made by Black & Decker, a company you've probably known
for its history of making great products. And we're here with Michael. Michael, how
you doing? I'm good, thanks for having us. Good, Michael. And you're the... give us your title, Michael.
I'm a Senior Product Manager. Senior Product Manager. So you're basically like running the CEO. You're the boss anyway.
Yeah.
Just kidding.
Part time.
So you guys have this really cool product that helps resolve some issues.
So tell us what Black & Decker you guys are doing here at the show.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
So Priya by Black & Decker is what we call your medicine cabinet reinvented.
So we designed a really unique product for managing medications as
well as giving people that care for one another you know an additional tool that will help care
not only from a medication standpoint but also connectivity and communication so it's a really
simple easy to use device that we just launched a couple months ago so it's brand new to the market
and we're really trying to change the game and way we care for mom
and dad so people can go to ok Priya calm to check it out and then where you
guys located here in the Venetian tower so we are at the 30th floor suite 133
yeah and we're up here you know I was just checking to see if you knew i knew but
i was just testing you your co-workers put me up to it i'm just kidding uh so uh so uh you can come
up here check it out come up to the floor 30 of the venetian and uh so tell us more about how it
works yeah so i can even have priya introduce herself so she's got her own persona right so
we built this device you know not only as a medication dispenser but it has some personality to
it as well so medication is really the strong point in the focal reason why we
developed the product but it has much more features and benefits which she
does a better job explaining it than I do.
Hello, I am Priya by Black and Decker, your medicine cabinet reinvented.
I can help manage users' medications, deliver daily care plans,
provide caregivers with wellness insights,
and even connect you with friends via two-way video.
Would you like me to show you a few of my features?
So now she'll walk you through.
Now she's listening for voice, so I can say yes or no
or just simply tap the screen, and she'll walk you through. Now she's listening for voice, so I can say yes or no, or just simply tap the screen, and she'll walk you through.
I enjoy interacting with my users by showing them the weather, keeping their day on track, and even video calling their contacts.
These types of days can be so exhausting. I tried going for a walk this morning, but it did not work out so well.
She does jokes. I wonder why?
I've been told that staying hydrated is important.
This is an example of how I check in with my users.
This can be scheduled from the caregiver app.
So, have you had at least two 8-ounce glasses of water today?
That's what I like to hear.
By the way, I can supply you with some candy if you would like.
This is similar to how I would dispense scheduled dosages.
Would you like me to dispense some now?
Oh, I can't get this.
All this candy being dispensed like all the time.
Yeah.
Great.
Here you go.
If you have additional questions, you can learn more on okpria.com.
Make sure to put the cup in place while I'm dispensing your treat.
Candy. Your candies have been dispensed. Enjoy the rest of your day.
So that's a prime example of how she dispenses medications. Now, in a real-life scenario, mom would have walked in front of the device,
says, good morning, mom, it's 8 a.m., time to take your meds.
Now, the unique piece about us and the way we change from a standard flip-top pill container
that people are used to is that we use facial recognition to actually recognize mom.
So we know the exact moment in time when mom's in front of the device,
and then we actually know when it's dispensed or skipped.
So she can always say, okay, Priya, dispense my meds and it's gonna pull up our next dose or you know we're able to reschedule
them as needed so we're really flexible and what the user needs you know say
they're going out for the day they can dispense some medications early that's
awesome sauce you know in the hydration thing is a big deal my sister has MS MS. She's in a care center and and the same thing with my other sister who
was born cerebral palsy and we always have to you know anytime she calls my
mom, my mom's like did you drink your water because she'll get dehydrated and then
it will cause you know just a whole avalanche of other problems and yeah
hydration you wouldn't think of that it's a big deal but for most of us you know we just go drink water but
sometimes you forget especially with dimension stuff so for sure that's that's
that's a really cool thing and that's one of those features that you know now
we're taking a little bit of you know relief off we're giving some relief to
these caregivers that instead of calling mom twice a day to say drink water
because mom's you know forgetful or she doesn't
even want to now that you could schedule that on the device to remind her twice a
day it's awesome we have to fight with my sister to do to drink her water
so anything more we need to know about the product what it does is it a market
right now it is so just just to the market now you can go on okpria.com
to purchase it directly through us.
We actually have a CES promo code out right now.
What's that code for us?
CES2020.
CES2020, and you'll actually save 100 bucks.
There it is.
So get there now, as soon as you can.
We're also available on Amazon,
and stay tuned for more features as Prea develops,
because the beauty of this product is that it's software.
So when it gets shipped to you the first day, 30 days from now,
it might look entirely different for whatever these customers are asking us.
We want to continue to build and support whatever their caregiving and aging in place needs are. that makes sense that's pretty awesome so guys come to the venetian towers you got to
come to the elevators they're right underneath the escalators when you come in from the parking
uh you can get in line you come up to level 30 uh check out room number 133 you see the black
and decker sign out front you can check out the pria see it in action see all its glory
and everything it does or if you're not here at the show, go to okpriya.com.
It's okpriya.com.
And use that CES code.
Holy crap.
Take advantage of that while you can.
What's the retail on this?
I probably should ask.
Yeah, so the retail is $699 right now.
And then after six months, it's $10 per month.
And that's to support unlimited usage.
So you can invite as many caregivers as you want to care for mom and dad you can
make as many video calls you name it but we want to continue to be able to
support the product and does it monitor the caregivers like when they seize them
or motion yeah so what we do is we're able to keep track of when they're in
front of the device from a usability standpoint. We do not video or from a motion detection just because of privacy concerns, but stay
tuned for more around that space.
At the end of this year, I think we're going to have some exciting things to announce on
additional features of what Prey is going to do.
That'll be awesome.
So does the caregiver load it with the meds and there's like a loading back and you just
put them in there?
That's right.
So the way that works today is you take that large sheet of paper that's on the side of
mom's refrigerator that has all her medications, the days, the times, the size, the color.
What you do is you actually populate that into our application right on your mobile
phone or mom's phone, whatever you prefer.
And then Priya recognizes that whole regimen.
She does the math.
So it actually stores and dispenses 28 doses worth of meds.
So mom takes meds twice a day.
So I can look at the history and see,
hey mom missed Tuesday or something like that.
That's exactly right.
So we store all that for you.
And we actually notify you after 60 minutes
if mom has not taken her medications.
Mom, open that mouth.
Wanna see who took the pill.
Anyway, this is an awesome product and having two sisters in care, I can see that it's a great product.
So, tell me on it. Check it out. Be sure
to come by the Venetian and see what's going on.
If you aren't here at CES, be sure to look at it.
You'll be able to see, of course, our videos
immediately on the chrisfossshow.com.
Thanks to Black & Decker and we'll see you guys
next time.
