Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi folks, Chris Voss here from thechrisvossshow.com, thechrisvossshow.com. Hey, coming to you with another really cool podcast. We don't have any interviews today, we're just doing business news and tech and my take on it because I know you were sitting around reading the business news and tech today thinking, I wonder what Chris Voss thinks right now. Well, I'm here to answer that question for you. What does Chris think about the news? The news is here. So anyway, guys, let's talk about the news. I got some interesting stuff from Product Hunt that I've seen. One thing I'll start doing
Starting point is 00:00:38 along with this business news is we'll dive into whatever Product Hunt is offering and what sort of products stick out at me off of a Products Hunt morning sort of thing. Something that's pretty interesting. We'll just start off with that. We'll start off with a fun. Should we start off with the fun? Let's have the cake first, Chris. Let's have the dessert. Oh, yeah, baby.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Give us that ice cream. Let's see here. Product Hunt. This is something that really stuck out of me like i said we'll start covering this in the chris voss show um uh podcast when we do these daily news and stuff so um they have something called elon's extension you can trigger a dancing and talking elon musk in your browser it's too bad you can't see this on the podcast. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:01:28 It's also the number three product of the day today on, what is it, August 3rd, 2019. It pretty much features in the bottom left-hand corner a dancing Elon Musk. It looks like his head's superimposed over a guy who could probably dance much better than him's body. And he's doing a bunch of funny stuff. It says he talks.
Starting point is 00:01:52 The most immersive Elon Musk internet browsing experience known because God knows you don't want to browse alone in this world. Have a dancing gif plus audio quote of Elon Musk every time the word Elon or Musk appears. Caution, enter insane mode at your own risk. I don't know what that means and I don't really want to find out, but I do have a lot of fun. Um, I do have a lot of fun with, uh, my friends who, uh, think of Elon Musk as a God. There's also several interesting related products. Holy shit, what's going on in the world, man? There's the chat one-on-one with Elon Musk, the Ask Elon Musk Bot.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Those words don't seem like they should go together, but whatever. There's the Elon Mask, which is lifetime or life-size mass of Elon Musk. Dude, this is why the world's going to hell. There's the Deep Elon Musk, which is artificial intelligence trained to tweet like Elon Musk. I think monkeys in zoos can tweet like our president. Elon Musk air freshener that actually smells like Musk. And it's titled Elon's Musk, as in plural for Elon's Musk. Should I even go on?
Starting point is 00:03:18 This is, I'm starting to get depressed. Random Elon, get a random Elon quote. Elon Daily, the daily and weekly digest of what Elon says on Twitter. Get a fucking life, people. That's what that should be called. Elon Musk with a mustache. It's just an Elon Musk air freshener with a mustache. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Elon Musk text replacement, extension replace Elon Musk with Grimes' boyfriend. Buh. And we wonder why the world's going to hell. There you have it, folks. Idiocracy at its best, or entertainment, whichever, however you want to filter that. I'll leave that up to you. So anyway, that was the most interesting thing I found that really stuck out at me on ProductHunt.com today,
Starting point is 00:04:04 so thanks to them for always, uh, having interesting stuff. Uh, there is some, this kind of interesting block, right? It's a decentralized copyright registration platform. So I guess you can register your shit there. Um, let's see. I don't really see anything more else that could do anything good for. Oh, my gosh. So many apps, so little time. So anyway, guys, let's get on to more news of what's going on on your Saturday.
Starting point is 00:04:46 This is kind of interesting according to the information Facebook is planning on rebranding Instagram and whatsapp to this is Instagram from Facebook and whatsapp from Facebook so evidently there's a plan to signal its control of Instagram whatsapp by adding its name to both apps. I guess a lot of those millennials and Gen Xers or Gen Yers or Gen Zers, whatever they are this week, is exodizing the system. Exodusing, is that a word? So I guess they're trying to remind people that, Hey, we own that shit.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Come back. Um, so good for whatever. Uh, thanks Zuckerberg. Like if that's really important to you. Okay, man, just trying to throw the next fucking election. That's really what we're after, buddy. We don't really don't give a shit. We know you own Instagram and WhatsApp.
Starting point is 00:05:43 You don't have to put yours. You don't have to put your stamp on it we know you own it just try and you know not throw the next election to the russians okay that's all we're asking man uh goldman sachs according to verge posts apple cards customer agreement on the site this is very interesting for those of you who are in cryptocurrency um on the customer agreement it says jailbreaking the phone is uh forbidden it says cryptocurrency purchases with the card are forbidden so i can't be buying like a whole ton of uh bitcoin stock with that casino chip and lottery ticket purchases are forbidden does that also work if you go to vegas or does it work if you just do other stuff like uh lottery tickets i mean you you buy lottery tickets at like 7-eleven like how are they going to block that because like i know i see people that at the
Starting point is 00:06:39 stores when they go in you know they buy you know, you know, a bag of chips, a Coke, and a lottery ticket. I don't know if they pay cash, though. I never bought one. I'm not, whatever, man. If I want to gamble, I gamble in business. I don't gamble in, you know, games of chance. Let's see. I probably should.
Starting point is 00:06:57 The first time I buy one, I probably win, like, $3 trillion. And everyone would be like, you dumbass. What else is, you heard yesterday, if you listened to the Chris Vaughn Show podcast, and the smartest people do, of course, so that must have been you, and if not, you'll go back and listen to it because you want to be smart.
Starting point is 00:07:16 But yesterday we announced Apple was suspending the Siri response grading, or two days ago I think it was, where contractors used to be reviewing Siri inquiries without explicit user consent now Amazon is gonna let users opt out of the human review of voice recordings followed up on by Alexa so looks like Amazon is jumping in the mix of course you have to go in and automatically or go in and ask them to opt out I guess next up is seeing if the home from Google which I'm not gonna say properly because I don't want to trigger home I all my home
Starting point is 00:07:57 devices in the house so there you go privacy is becoming popular again so there you go. Looks like also the Verge reported German regulator has, says Google has agreed to stop listening and transcribing Google assistant recordings for three months in Europe. I guess they're under heat over there as well. This is kind of interesting. UK data science company, data spar Q that's one words.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Data spar Q has developed an ai bar an ai powered facial recognition system to help bartenders check ids fill orders faster and fairer that's pretty damn interesting uh the only problem is is do you have to have my face uh to um i mean don't have to give you access to my facial recognition, like my face. I think I already gave that to the Russians with the FaceApp recently. So, yeah, man, I don't know. Maybe that'll be good there. You don't have to pull out your ID.
Starting point is 00:08:57 It can help bars. You know, I've had friends that have bars where underage people are always trying to sneak in or fake IDs, and then they get in trouble if they let them in. You know, it's their license. I know bartenders in some states that are pretty constructive, like Utah, where, you know, if you're a server and you serve wrong, you can serve an underage person. You can lose your ability to serve.
Starting point is 00:09:19 You can lose your job, basically, your ability to serve, your license. So this would be pretty good, kind of interesting of interesting check IDs fill orders faster and fair that would be nice too one of the problems I have whenever I've gone to a bar is just getting the fucking guys attention I don't know what it is about bartenders and waitresses lately but they do not look around to see if anybody needs a refill on a drink or has been waiting in line for a long time it just seems to be sometimes whoever's closest to the bartender he just kind of serves them and then you go wait in that line and then he goes down to the other end of the bar and starts serving everyone else
Starting point is 00:09:54 you're just like what the fuck do i gotta do to get a fucking drink in this shit uh hole um and i hate that i hate that there's never enough never enough bartenders, and there never seems to be any real good system for addressing, okay, who's been waiting here longest that needs a drink, eh? It's just stupid sometimes, some of the things that go on. So I'm all for that. I like that. Fill orders faster and everything else, and away you go. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:10:23 What else is there to talk about? Vimeo has launched Vimeo Enterprise so companies can host, share, and manage video content internally as it pivots from a video and content company to a SaaS. That's kind of interesting. I guess basically it's up for sale. They're just like, hey, Salesforce, you want to be able to make some internal videos?
Starting point is 00:10:41 I'm surprised that they have survived this long in business against YouTube I mean good for them there is a lot of great content on there and there's a lot of different content they seeded I just don't know how anybody gets paid for it it's just a they so what do you do with that video Vimeo enterprise that that's probably either going to be a turn in the right direction or a turn down a dead-end alleyway, which they probably already are. So, fun is fun. That's kind of the rundown of some of the news that stuck out. It looks like Google Fit is going to start rolling out detailed sleep blogging and dark theme.
Starting point is 00:11:22 iOS app gains support for routes and workarounds if you're a big fan of Google Fit, well, there you go. But if you're American, you're probably not. So I'm a big fan of burgers, Chris. Burgers? I like burgers. So let's see. Anything else more in the news? I haven't seen anything more.
Starting point is 00:11:43 If you see anything in the news you want me to comment on,. So there's, if you see anything in the news, you want me to comment on, on tomorrow's show, we'll be doing a business news again. I don't know if I have an interview or not, but stay tuned for those.
