Be sure to go to thecvpncom or Chris Foss podcast network comm you can
see seven different podcasts there and of course you can subscribe on Spotify
iHeartRadio iTunes Google Play digital I think it's digital FM luminary is there
luminance one of those is there's a whole mess of geez there's like so many
of my can't keep track of them all.
Spreakers, all those different places.
Go check out all the podcasts that we do.
Oh my gosh, it's amazing.
So anyway, let's get into the news of the day and see what is going on in our world.
Top of the list here, of course, Apple reports quarter three revenue of $53.8 billion, up 1% year over year.
That's pretty interesting.
They're making more money.
Who knew?
Apple making more money?
Good for them.
It looks like their iPhone revenue is down a little bit, though, but their stock is up.
So if you're in Apple, good for you.
It's hard to knock that stock, especially with as much cash as they've got laying around.
Holy crap.
Tim Cook says the Apple card will launch in August,
and then everyone can go into debt to Apple to buy their iPhones.
What a brilliant idea.
Also, Apple joins Google, Facebook, and Twitter in the open source data transfer project that will develop interoperable systems to bring data in and out of iCloud. sharing it all over the place. And I guess if you want to make sure that things are synonymous across all your platforms
as you cross them to make sure they know exactly who you are and what you're doing,
well, there you go.
Isn't that nice?
The data transfer project.
I think I have that now where I have hackers just doing the data transfer project.
They just hack into my accounts that are poorly secured by companies that really need to be criminalized in sloppily handling my data.
Samsung posts quarter two operating profit.
Looks like they're down 56% on a year over year.
Wow, that can be good.
And it looks like their profits declined from his chip and mobile business, which is
kind of interesting.
I wonder if, uh, much of that took a hit from, uh, it looks like a lot of it was in the memory
business.
So, uh, I know they had some issues with that phone.
They were launching the foldable phone, if you will.
And, uh, evidently that's going to relaunch.
So there you go.
Spotify reports 108 million paying subscribers in quarter two up.
Holy crap.
31% year over year.
But they still have an operating loss.
Oh my God.
How do these people just survive for decades with operating losses?
It's crazy.
So they have an operating loss of three million dollars or three pound three million
pounds i think that is i'm not sure it's some sort of euro i think maybe it's three million euro
on revenue 1.67 billion dollars um when the revenue is up 31 wow okay there you go um that's
pretty awesome we love spotify i gotta tell you you, Spotify is embracing podcasts like nobody's business.
When I launched the seven podcasts, we were applying, of course, to Apple, Google Play, Spotify,
all the different main syndicators and distributors, if you will.
Spotify was the fastest to get us taken care of.
They're one of the fastest to respond to emails.
They really care.
They've actually made a nice little, what would you call it, like dashboard for Spotify contributors.
They really are trying hard to dominate the podcast market.
And I think they're really, you know, giving Apple a run for their money when it comes down to it. I actually really like promoting them.
And everyone's on Spotify.
The nice thing I love about Spotify, too, is you have your Android users and your iTunes users.
One of the challenges I have with the podcast when we're promoting it is a large number of consumers are on iTunes.
But you feel bad sending that out because you're like,
well, what if they're on Android?
They don't want to subscribe.
They probably don't have the iTunes crap thing there.
So I like Spotify because I can pretty much guarantee if I promote that,
no matter what platform you're on, you can enjoy it.
So there you go.
It looks like researchers from UCSF and Facebook Reality Labs
have successfully decoded question and answer dialogue from brain signals
in real time via brain implants.
We're in the world of brain implants now.
You probably saw that recently with, oh, who was it?
Elon Musk is launching a thing we're gonna be implanting our
brains I don't know maybe it's a good idea I mean I need something to make my
brain smarter and coffee just is not doing the job people don't know how much
coffee I drink it's not helping I mean it helps the energy but then my brain
still like I'm stupid so there's that i don't know what can i tell you
samsung has announced the galaxy tab s6 i don't know i can't even keep track of all the different
tablets and um just everything they do it's going to be a uh high-end android tablet with 10.5
oled display snapdragon 855 coming september 6th for 649 uh i love samsung
products i love samsung phones at&t is always really wonderful they share the phones with us
so we can take and review them uh i love my notes i love samsung notes those are my favorite
uh i do love the normal samsung's um so this is pretty interesting but i gotta tell you i quit
using ipads a long time ago i kind of keep one on my desk to kind of play youtube videos or news
or youtube um tv while i'm working but i i really have been treating tablets like a stupid step
child maybe it's just me maybe i'm just getting old I know the kids my friends kids and stuff
They love their iPads and they all playing on and stuff, but I'm just kind of over for a while there
I did kind of like it for gaming, but if I'm gonna game I'm gaming on my ps4 Pro so
there
So, let's see. What else do we have?
Some interesting stuff from CoinDesk. This is Chinese importers in Russia buy $30 million worth of Tether,
a USD-pegged crypto coin.
Yeah, that's US dollars I should mention.
Every day to send large sums of money back home.
Sounds like they're doing all sorts of interesting.
They're buying up to $ million dollars a day of tether
from moscow's over-the-counter training desks sounds like some some money laundering to me
maybe i don't know not judging so um what the hell is this uh from wired today behind the rise of
funeral live streaming industry in the us whereS. where an estimated 20% of funeral homes are offering live streaming.
You know, I think this is great.
When my father passed away about five years ago, I took and recorded it
so that one of my family members, who was his brother, couldn't travel.
He had a severe, about half his heart was working,
and he really couldn't travel to my father's funeral.
And so I recorded it for him, uploaded it to YouTube privately.
And then there was a few other people that couldn't attend his funeral,
and so they were able to watch it on YouTube privately.
When he passed away, I did ask my cousin if he could record it or livestream it
for me because I wanted to be there but I couldn't be there and maybe this is a
new sort of service maybe this is a new kind of business that people can get in
where they can live stream a funeral because you know we're all spread out
all the country all the world nowadays.
And it really would be great to be able to attend a funeral off a live stream.
It seems, I don't know, on one hand to me, it seems a little, um, vapid or what's the
word I'm looking for?
Disconnected.
Like I don't have time to honor my friend by showing up in person, but you know, I mean,
people have lives and stuff.
One of my biggest problems is I've got dogs and traveling with them,
and I'm just a single guy, so I can't leave the dogs with somebody
and everything else.
And, you know, sometimes you might be in the opposite part of the world
when someone passes away, and the only way for you to tune in
or attend their funeral or show your respects are to live stream it.
So there you go. The only way for you to tune in or attend their funeral, show your respects, or to live stream it.
So there you go.
Looks like Vox is reporting that Google employees have donated more to Elizabeth Warren than any other presidential candidate.
That's kind of interesting.
Some staffers think antitrust action won't hurt Google's value.
Is there anything that can hurt Google's value?
Once people stop
searching maybe I don't know I'm watching YouTube videos Google employees
have donated more lives Elizabeth Warren it's kind of interesting son evidently
like her I did see speaking of politics Elizabeth Warren I won't get into it too
much folks so don't tune out on me but I i i i've really seen her come together on her ability
to debate i saw her on the debate stage last night on the 30th where um was the 30th yeah
we're in the 30th uh july 2019 uh and man she was boxing hard boxing hard think what you want of her
good bad or ugly i'm not saying uh she should be the presumptive nominee. I'm kind of sitting back and just letting everybody work their issues out.
There's still so many players.
I wouldn't mind her as a president.
I just want somebody who can beat Donald Trump and racism.
Just anybody who can do that is fine by me.
Let's see.
Some other stuff.
Google 76 arrives with Flash blocked by default.
Man, it's kind of interesting how that whole story came down with, you know, if you remember back in the day, Steve Jobs shut down.
Just did a body blow, kicked to the nads on Flash and said,'re not going to have it on iphones bye-bye and
uh that's pretty brutal and adobe is all upset about it like don't hurt our flash but uh yeah
now it's pretty much dead the way things are going it seems are almost dead i don't know that a lot
of uh websites use flash anymore i'm always surprised when i come across it so there you go ways now
let's carpool drivers invite up to four other riders to join a carpool corner adventure beat
uh that's pretty darn good i like that let's get some uh save some gas let's get some people
you know ways is such a great product i got on ways back when i was like what 2010
and uh i was one of the first people on it in fact it was asking you it was like, what, 2010? And I was one of the first people on it.
In fact, it was asking you.
It's like, hey, can you drive down some of these back roads
because we've got to map them, baby.
Please help us and share with your friends.
And so early on I was on with it, and I saw the real vision of it,
and it was really brilliant.
So this is really cool.
They're making more inroads, doing more stuff, and away you go.
Rumor coming out of the information source Facebook is working on a new TV device that can stream video and make
video calls using its portal tech and has approached Netflix Disney and others
has anyone out there gotten that I think it's called the portal or whatever that
talky big iPad thingy I don't know anybody's got one or uses on
a regular basis I think I know one person has got one they haven't talked
about it since they got it but who knows I don't know maybe maybe it's good maybe
it's not in other cryptocurrency discussions and coin desk US files a
100 million dollar lawsuit against BTC-E Crypto Exchange and the co-owner for alleged crimes, including conspiracy money laundering and unlawful money transactions.
That's probably not good for the crypto community.
You know, I mean, there's one thing to say about crypto.
I believe in it.
I believe in the vision of crypto.
But when you get
these idiots out of the business um i don't know how to do that i don't i don't know if
it's regulation but then of course once you have more regulation then you have problems and part
of the whole point of cryptocurrency is to you know circumvent the the, the monopolistic, uh, what's the right word? The domination of,
uh, you know, controls by local governments or countries of governments, national governments
to say, this is our, this is our, you know, monetary, um, dominant, um,
what you'll call it currency basically. there you go so that's kind of
interesting some of the different things that are out there I'll see is there any
other news I thought was interesting I think there's some other stuff here that
I want to take and look at if I can bloody find it on my screen it was there, and now it's not. There you go.
We lost the news, Chris.
What did you do to the news, man?
So some of the different things that are happening.
Artificial intelligence in the health care market is expected to reach $27.6 billion by 2025.
That should be in pretty interesting uh i guess uh basically they can be like they can come
into my room and they can be like uh okay so here's an x-ray of your damaged alcohol ridden liver
and then here's like a ar projection of a healthy liver so enjoy dying fucker um i don't know what
they're going to do with the ai intelligence and don't know what they're going to do with the AI intelligence
and healthcare. Maybe what they're going to do is make my bill three-dimensional for when I file
bankruptcy because I just, you know, went to the ER once we got to fix healthcare in this country.
It's so fucked up. I'm not sure that AI is really going to help me at all. They're just going to
take AI and be like, yeah, Chris, when we were taking and doing that,
you had a little cut on your finger at the ER,
and because we used AI to kind of see inside the cut
or visualize the cut to our doctors,
that's an extra fucking $100,000
on top of the $100,000 we charged for that cut.
Kill me now.
No, really. No, but seriously, Medicare Medicare will Medicaid will whatever you know you know what I'm saying virtual
reality solve personal problems okay according to medical Express research
team at the University of Barcelona has used immersed virtual reality to
observe the effects of,
uh,
working through your personal problems.
I don't know,
man.
Is that basically like,
like you're just going to make my world look like the piece of shit that it
is only not like I remember seeing a long time ago,
uh,
this video about these people who were living in virtual worlds and their houses were slum,
they were garbage filled, but they were poor, but they were tuning into these virtual worlds
where they could walk around and be whoever they were, these rich, wonderful palaces and
have these jobs.
And it became this falsetto sort of imaginary life that was just not
real so I guess yeah I mean maybe maybe maybe if you're married and you put on a
VR headset you know and you you look at your husband and he looks like Fabio
maybe that'll fix your personal problems. What do I know?
There you go.
Amazon is dipping a big toe into virtual reality, according to Yahoo Finance.
The Prime Video is getting a VR version that'll work with some of the world's most popular headsets, Oculus Go, Oculus Quest, and Samsung.
That should be pretty interesting. I i mean most people are into uh vr uh i love some of the shows on amazon uh some of the ones that they produced
that are just freaking awesome uh some of the great stuff they have over there is great uh let's
see what else we have up for uh apple offers new augmented art sessions for augmented reality.
So they're definitely going deep in AR.
There's all sorts of discussions about what they're going to do.
Are they going to go big on VR?
Are they going to release some VR headsets?
What is Apple going to do?
And I don't know, but it does look like they're going deep on AR and everything else.
So that should be kind of interesting in the world of what's going on.
This is interesting, too.
Branson, a backed cryptocurrency startup, launches a super fast exchange to take on Coinbase from CNBC.
Blockchain, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency
wallet platforms has launched a digital currency exchange aimed at competing with debt with
coinbase i love coinbase i actually have an account on there um they've been a really great
place to have things i don't have a lot of money in there so if you want to break into it have fun
with the 100 or whatever is in there.
I used a lot of cryptocurrency and then I kind of gave up when it got, you know, it came back down for a long time. And then I missed the whole ramp back up and then I missed the whole crash.
And I just, whatever, man, I got better things to do with my money.
So let's see.
Facebook warns its cryptocurrency may never launch ultimately
the libra may never launch so that thing was just like a that that was a trial balloon floater tease
there was a lot of people that suggested that was holy crap what a joke wow man that's gonna be like
ross perot when he did that fake presidential run, he's like,
no, it's too hard, I'm out, and then when they, when he comes back, and he's like, hey, I'm gonna,
you know, Mark's gonna come back, I'm gonna be like, you know, five years later, we decided to
release a cryptocurrency thing, and yeah, and everyone's gonna be like, yeah, we know what
happened last time, you fucking quitter. Screw off.
That's probably what's going to happen with that news.
Let's see.
This is kind of interesting.
This is in the 5G realm.
We're starting to see more discussions about 5G.
Qualcomm, Tencent agree to collaborate on gaming devices in 5G,
according to CNBC today.
And they're going to cooperate on projects that include making a chinese company's video games play uh better on 5g 5g is going to revolutionize our world it's going to blow our
minds robots are going to be able to work on it uh it's going to be awesome i'm sure sky that's
going to rise right out of 5g that's how interesting is this is pretty much a kind of a
wild thing here tell me what you think about this
what do you think about the three million dollar fortnite winner uh winning on fortnite i mean if
you're a parent you're probably been telling your kids for years quit scouting animals video games
they'll never make any money and you get a job this kid went out and made three million dollars
even though his parents sold him the same thing and evidently fortnite's spending a whole lot more money to do this it's crazy what they're doing but and it's crazy that
people are spending all this money on the game i don't even like the game i hate it i'd rather play
destiny or division 2 um real big fans of both those games really in division 2 right now but uh
um yeah man fortnite that's it's amazing the bank those guys are pulling,
and a bunch of squeaker kids playing that thing, oh my gosh, there you go.
