show.
Those are always good.
And this is going to be appearing on the Chris Voss Show podcast and our sister channel on
the CVPN network, the Chris Voss Podcast Network, on my Chris Voss Podcast, which is pretty
much largely about politics over there.
We're going to be talking today about the Robert Mueller interview that he did before
Congress on TV, two different congressional committees.
We're not going to get so much into politics, so I just want to go over the kind of an overview, a helicopter view, if you will, of the whole thing that went down today
with Robert Mueller. Hopefully you've got a chance to watch it. Hopefully you got a chance to educate
yourself if you haven't read the Mueller report. You know, there's a lot of important stuff that
goes into this country, what it is, what it was built on. And you don't really, I, it's sad
that most people don't learn a great appreciation for it. I got to tell you, uh, I didn't have a
large appreciation for it, even though I think in my day they were still teaching civics in, uh,
high school, which I flunked cause they were boring. Uh, but somehow, you know, somebody needs
to fix that problem.
But nowadays, a lot of kids aren't even taught civics, so that's the biggest issue.
When it comes down to some of these things, a lot of this, people get lost in the, well, this is Republicans versus Democrats, blah, blah, blah, and political theater and all sorts of things like that.
And it was interesting to see some of the view of some of the things that people were saying today about the Robert Mueller interview,
about his testimony that he gave today in front of the committees.
Of course, it was huge on TV, and there was political theater on both sides, et cetera, et cetera.
But there's an aspect to this that was kind of interesting to watch play out when I watch social media, and that's kind of what I want to talk about.
So if you think we're just going to talk about politics, hang in there.
I think you might like some of the stuff that we have.
Now, years ago, when they were developing the Constitution,
outside of Independence Hall, when the Constitution Convention of 1787 ended,
Mrs. Powell of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin as he came out,
well, doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?
And with no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded,
a republic, if you can keep it.
Now, what he was espousing there is we've saved you from
a king from a vile tyrannical King the King of England who used to oversee us
and we have given you a republic now it's your job to keep it and that's a
very important aspect when you look at different things like this I heard all
sorts of stuff all day long that i found incredibly disheartening and and actually uh you know i
believe that we have the government that we deserve the government our politicians the media
all the stuff you want to blame that's our fault that's the biggest problem that's one of the
biggest problems we have societies no one takes responsibility for everything, for anything.
Everyone lacks any, not everyone, I should say, but it seems like most people lack self-actualization to be like, well, maybe it's me.
You know, they run out on pointing fingers and everything.
It's the media.
It's the politicians.
It's Washington always ripping us off.
No, it's fucking you and until we all start taking some personal responsibility for our voting what we demand from the stuff uh politicians etc etc uh it's
going to complete it's going to come it's going to continue being a shit show and it's just getting
worse because we just seem to be getting dumber and dumber and devolving as a society. Um, like I said, for years, you've heard me mention this before for years, my mom would
tell me about how much they were, uh, the legislatures were stripping money away from
teachers and schools and they were doubling and tripling the school class sizes, which made it
almost impossible to teach. And, um, you know, it got to a point where she was having to spend her own money to teach kids because they, um, they weren't getting funded for it.
She was putting money out of her own pocket. And, um, the, you know, the first thing,
let's go through some of the lists of some of the things I saw that were disheartening
today. And like I said, I'm not getting into politics. To me, this is a fight over the Constitution.
This is a fight over what Ben Franklin said.
You have a republic if you can keep it.
So it's really important that we look at a function like this as a way that we become more informed and aware
and we engage in what's going on in our society, in our politics.
It's a damn shame that I think it's like half the, half of this country doesn't even bother
voting or showing up, which is a huge problem. And then, uh, you know, the other half, it tends
to be split in half and fights over what's left over from the other half. I really believe we
should have, um, I forget it's like Greenland or,
or,
um,
it's one of the countries up there that has,
uh,
actually by law,
everyone has to vote or I guess you go to jail.
And I really think we should have that.
You know,
we,
we've got a,
sometimes you have to pass laws to help the stupid people along,
you know,
they'll prevent Darwinism.
And,
uh,
I really think we should have that.
Of course, one of the biggest problems, one of our parties will never enact that because they
like gerrymandering and, and closing poll boosts and anything they can do to cheat the system.
But, uh, the one thing I heard people saying was, this is a big waste of time. It won't do anything.
No, it will do something. Uh, Thomas a famous quote, an informed citizenry is at the heart of a dynamic democracy.
That's one of the problems we have.
We have a large number of people in our democracy who know more about what's going on with Kim fucking Kardashian and her ass than they do about what's going on in politics.
They're just like, oh, politics is so hard.
I just want to watch The Bachelorette.
Okay, well, great.
We can all tune out a little bit, but we can all do some fucking work, too.
You know, I love how people always complain.
I don't have good health insurance, but I don't want to do politics.
So I want to go see what's happening on survivor this week uh i know the names of everyone in the plot but i couldn't tell you anything about
what happens in the u.s government or how laws passed um this is the reason everything's going
to hell and it just keeps getting worse and the the more and more people tune out, the more and more they don't give a fuck,
the more and more it gets shittier.
And then they're just like,
we'll just throw a malts of cocktail in there in two,
6,000 16 and burn the whole thing down.
Well,
that's great.
Enjoy that health insurance.
Enjoy those roads.
Enjoy all this stuff.
It's just it idiocracy in the way things are going.
Some of the other things that were disheartening to me,
you know, I had people say,
oh, it's a waste of time.
It's not a waste of time.
Educating the public about what's going on,
what's important in a TV matter is super important.
Was Nixon hearings a waste of time?
Was John Dean going before the Nixon, uh, congressional
hearings and blowing up the whole world, including the white house saying that saying that there
were tapes was a smoking gun, a waste of time.
You know, we have something very different with Donald Trump.
He's literally out in front of us, which most narcissists do.
Sociopaths do.
They play right in front of you.
And then when you call them on it, they blame you for it and they deflect.
And they lay it on thick enough that eventually you start going, well, maybe it is me.
Maybe he's not really cheating me on me with with his two girlfriends.
Maybe I'm just imagining it as his wife.
Yeah, it's probably me.
I'm probably driving him to those two girlfriends.
Um, excuse me.
So, um, you know, it was, it was really interesting to see that and, and really disheartening,
you know, people and, and what's, what's funny about most of these things I'm going to talk about today,
people just go to them because they're fucking lazy.
People are just like, oh, that's a waste of time.
No, that's just your fucking excuse because you don't want to fucking engage.
And then you like sitting in your little armchair quarterback and throwing shit from the back of the room going, oh, yeah.
And, well, great.
Thanks, monkey shit-thrower boy.
Thanks for contributing.
One of the other things that was interesting to me
about the Mueller report,
and also disheartening,
was I saw a lot of people that were just like,
ew, there's an old guy,
and he doesn't come across well,
and he doesn't seem as slick as Kim Kardashian.
And yeah, he doesn't seem to be very media savvy.
Yeah, honey, he's not up there to be Kim fucking Kardashian for you fucking people.
He's up there to be a legal, lawful administrator of his job.
The guy's an attorney,
and what this is about is the rule of law.
It's always interesting to me how everyone's like,
well, you know, this shit doesn't really matter.
Yes, it does.
The rule of law.
Look it up.
Study it.
Understand its importance to the Constitution.
The rule of law is what keeps this country going.
It's what keeps us from anarchy
and what keeps us from having you or me break into each other's fucking homes and rob it like
it's the fucking uh you know dark ages where we're just running around murdering and robbing each
other the rule of law is establishment in our society that the laws make it so that we have a uniform non-criminal,
or as much a non-criminal as we can, a balanced society where everyone can pursue their dreams and desires
and do what they want without fucking over other people.
And although it happens, there are people that usually go to jail. Um, so these people that just think that, well, you know, uh, the rules don't apply
to my candidate, uh, and he should be able to get away with anything is complete bullshit.
No one is above the law.
That's one of the principles of the rule of law.
And so, uh, people that just want to take and throw it away, like, well, my candidate doesn't
have to be prosecuted for anything and he can do whatever the fuck he wants. He can, he can rape a
baby on fucking fifth Avenue if he wants, uh, or kill someone, whatever the case may be. That's not
going to happen. That's not legal. That shouldn't be't be happening um because the problem is is once
you start breaking down those tenets of society where people go oh these laws don't apply well
fuck it i'm just gonna rob rape my neighbor let's go over there get some shit he's got some cool
shit over there you know i see why they should have someone break into the house of some of
these people that just think the rule of law is a bunch of bullshit.
And they're like, oh, call the police.
Oh, no, that's socialist.
You're going to have the police come and help you.
That's socialism.
Yeah, that's the government helping you.
Yeah.
You should just defend yourself because you don't want socialism, do you?
Oh, they're burning down your house now.
That's too bad because if you call the fire
department that's the government helping you that's socialism um so anyway you know you get
the you get the idea but this is really important i mean if you have children if you have family
members teach them about the rule of law and why this is important because a lot of us take it for
granted everyone just runs around thinking like no one robbed me today and it's really cool and I just expect that every day.
Well, that's fucking great until someone robs you and then you got a whole new problem.
So the rule of law is super important.
And this whole new society we have of these people who, if everything isn't pretty, if it's not some cute young
girl feeding the information, like I just saw these people and it was kind of also kind
of a gentrification sort of thing where people were like, oh, he's really old and he looks
like he's kind of out of it.
You know, Rob Mueller is up there.
He's answering questions from half a room of gang of idiots that just want to throw
him off and make them look bad.
Every time he's asked a question, he has to think about his report.
He has to think about the classified issues and whether or not he's breaching classified information and materials.
He has to think about the legal aspects of what he's answering. He also is, I imagine most of his nervousness was from the fact that if he said anything
wrong, it would be catastrophic in a lot of different ways and make their front of papers.
And certainly his testimony is one of the most important things for our Republic that
we can ever have.
So yeah, he's up there. And then of course he's, he's having
to double check with his notes. A lot of people are referencing him and you know, the guy wrote
like, I don't know how big the Mueller report is, but it's huge. And they're referencing different
places out of it. And he's got to double check it so he can speak to it. So he has the context of
what, what it was about. And, um, then on top of that, there are open cases he can't speak of.
And these idiots that are out there
on social media going oh he didn't even know have the fucking time what he's talking about
hey dude why don't you fucking go up there and do that shit for eight hours or however long it was
it's just really dumb some of the shit instead of instead of people sitting down and going
what can we learn from this our Our republic is very important to us.
The Constitution, the United States of America, our freedom from tyranny, from a king, anybody who wants to be a king.
What can we learn from this?
What's going on in our world?
Instead, they just want to throw these shitty little easy quips like, oh, I thought it was a waste of time, so I didn't show up.
What were you doing? I was downloading porn on Pornhub. Oh, wow. Okay, well, enjoy your
fucking freedom, asshole. You know, your parents like fucking died for it. They went to fucking
World War II and sat in a foxhole and froze their dick off and then had their face blown
off and you're sitting home going, I don't know if I can handle watching testimony to ensure my freedom
so that I can get on Pornhub tomorrow.
There's another great quote by Ben Franklin,
make yourself sheep and the wolves will eat you.
And that's what a lot of politicians do to some of the lemmings out here
that are in the world.
So it was disheartening to see this kind of gentrification of people going,
he's old and he doesn't look perfect and he doesn't come off as a media thing.
The guy is a lawyer, an attorney.
He's worked with the FBI.
He has a huge knowledge base.
He's not pretty, but he's not a dumbass Kim Kardashian.
Give me a break.
This guy has been places. Her butt will never go or
could never go or probably would explode if she had to deal with half of the different things that
he's had to deal with. I'm sure Kim Kardashian is a nice person, but I'm just saying, do you get my
point? The media, people expect everybody now to be media savvy.
It's like everyone has to be media savvy.
Well, this is why we have Donald Trump is because everyone's going,
we've got somebody who tweets and who's really good at media
to make them president.
And anybody who's not, even though they have, you know,
50 billion years of government experience, we can't have them.
Yeah, we just want some shit show kim
kardashian idiot bird in the fucking white house yeah see how well that turned out moron so that
just really that just really stumped me uh in seeing a lot of a lot of this uh uh kind of
gentrification this old person the saddestdest part about America is they throw away perfectly good people.
And when they get old, we just go,
oh, we don't care how much knowledge you have because you've lived for so long.
You can probably save us some time and hassle.
We're just going to throw you fucking away because you look old.
And, you know, we're going to go listen to Kim Kardashian
and lay some fucking knowledge on us.
She's, what, 22 or something?
Kim Kardashian is older, but you know what I mean.
She started when she was young.
Because anybody who has a sex tape from their teens has got to be like fucking Einstein in today's world.
Come on, man.
Come on.
And, you know, there were some people that really burst out at Robert Mueller and tried to grandstand.
There were some parts where it really just looked like some kind of bad porno where a bunch of GOP congressmen are fighting each other to see who can suck Trump's dick the hardest verbally during the testimony.
Evidently, one of them is actually up for a cabinet job.
So he seemed to be sucking the hardest. Uh, but yeah, it was just, it was just people just wanting to suck drugs,
dick on air. And I was just like, my God, dude, stand up for the constitution, stand up for the
rule of law, stand up for the support. You're not going to tell you years ago, I was, I got to tell you, years ago, I found myself as a Republican in my values.
I was a rich kid, building my business, had money, and my whole attitude was,
everyone get your money, fuck everyone else, get yours, and get your shit,
and build your wealth, and become hugely successful, and don't worry about anybody else.
Then along came, and I voted for George Bush.
And I got to tell you, after I voted for George Bush,
I was hugely critical of him, the Iraq War.
I like the Afghan part.
The Iraq War was pretty obvious what had gone on.
And that really turned me off to him.
But I got to tell you, anytime I vote for someone, I'm more critical of them because
I voted for him because they're embarrassing me.
And I kind of feel like they're mine because I voted for you.
So if you fuck up, I'm going to yell even worse.
You know what I mean?
Like when I go to the dog park, I see other people's dogs and they do something bad. I don't yell at them because that's not my dog. So when
I vote for somebody, that's my dog in the fight, if you will. Uh, and, uh, I expect them to not
embarrass me to be a good president. And so I don't suck up into this whole hero worship where
you're like, Oh, I voted for him.
So I have to defend him at all costs because God will look bad.
No, man.
I told people, fuck, I voted for the asshole and I regret it.
And then 9-11 happened.
A few other things in my life.
Fight Club.
I saw the movie Fight Club and realized that I was spending all of my time making all this money,
buying all these things to impress people that just hated me even more than they did before I had money.
It seems I couldn't make anyone in my life happy no matter how much money I had in diamonds and gold and whatever shit I gave them,
how much I carried them anywhere.
It was always like, you're an asshole.
And the more I gave them, the bigger an asshole I was when I stopped.
So, um, so after nine 11, I started worrying about the world.
I started worrying about other people and then I flipped and, and I became, uh, I became
more empathetic to my world.
I got some dogs and I, I started, I just started caring about other things in the world
and realizing there was more of a world out there than myself. And so I voted for Obama in his first term, didn't vote for him in his second term,
I voted for him in his first term. Uh, and, um, you know, I was sold on the change. I was
kind of very unhappy that it seemed once he got an office, he kind of flipped to the usual,
uh, like I'm an office, like who gives a shit now?
Um, attitude. And he did try to do a lot of good stuff. There was a lot of GOP, uh, blockading him,
you know, what's his face, the speaker of the house said, you know, he's not going to anything
through, we're going to stop everything. Um, which is a horrible way to run a government.
And, um, uh, yeah. So, you know, there were things I liked about Obama.
There were things I didn't. And when I didn't, I was critical. Uh, what I did like about him,
uh, there were a lot of good things that he did. Uh, and you know, I, I think both with him and
Bush, I was about 50%, but half the time I was like, yeah, that's really good way to go. And
the other half the time I was like, you suck.
I do not like what you're doing, buddy.
And I voted for you.
But, you know, what you have to realize is that's what the Constitution gave us.
The free speech, the ability to criticize our leaders, the fact that they are not kingly over us. They are not tyrannical and that we can abuse them with criticism, that we can speak our
minds, that we have the freedom of speech, the power to, uh, rebel the power to speak
out the power to protest.
This is what keeps them honest kids.
This is what keeps them honest.
When you have a cult like following with the Nazi hat and headband hats with the mag on it and all that stuff going on,
and we're trying to put people in fucking camps just like they're going down the slippery slope of Nazis,
we're degrading people and treating them like they're nothing and they have no value even though they're human just because they're from another country.
This is a scary fucking thing to do.
But when you're not criticizing your president, regardless of who he is, you're giving him
a license to do even more, whatever the fuck he wants.
And if you're delusional enough to believe that any president has your best interests
at heart, personally, you're probably, you're probably, I don't know, a moron.
So you're also abdicating your right that was given to you
to be critical of your president.
This whole notion that you have to have a hero worship cult
where you have to be like everything and anything he says
is the greatest fucking thing in the world.
And so he never does anything wrong and he never lies and he never says anything wrong.
You're abdicating basically what Ben Franklin said.
We've given you a republic as long as you can keep it.
You're creating a king.
You're creating a king.
You're lifting him up so high that he believes that he's like, cool, man,
I have a bunch of people who want me to be king, I'll be king. And you see that a lot coming out
of Trump and his implications and his discussions. So somehow we've got to get away from this notion
of hero worship. We've got to get back to the Constitution. We've got to get back to the rule
of law. You know, we could probably sit and debate hours and hours of who's right on the Mueller
report, who did this, what did that.
But really, all of it comes down to that document, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights,
the rule of law, what we're establishing, how important all of these things are.
The fact that you or I or the president are not above the law is so important.
If you lived during the Nixon time, which I did, you know, Nixon was famous for saying the president is above the law.
The law does not apply to the president.
Well, he found out that was wrong.
And this one needs to find out as well.
And hopefully the voters will be the ultimate deciding factor on them.
I don't see the impeachment is going to happen anytime soon, especially with the GOP holding
down the Senate. So there's that. Anyway, that's my take on the whole Mueller thing.
We need to get away from this world where, if anything, isn't media glitzy catchy and there's some kind of cheesy tune to it and whatever.
And some bitch in bikini on fucking Instagram who's showing us her fucking titties.
There would have been more people tuned in the Mueller interview if Mueller was a hot chick on Instagram with her bamboozles hanging out.
Of course, no one would even know
what he, he, what she said at that point, but we got to get away from this man, because if we're,
if we're degrading our society, our rule of law to a point that we just give it up for
the most stupid characters we can possibly find on tv on instagram and on facebook on twitter etc
the biggest muppet head freaking empty vessels we're doomed man that movie idiocracy is going
to become like uh like a foretelling like 1984 has i mean trump has brought so much of 1984 George Orwell's prophecy to light.
It's just, it's like a mirror fucking image.
It's almost like the Bible or something where he's like,
was it Nostradamus who made a bunch of so-called predictions?
Anyway, so I appeal to you, if you're either a Democrat or a Republican,
that's still listening at this point,
you're investing in the constitution.
Go down,
sit and read it,
read the bill of rights,
understand the rule of law because it protects you.
It protects your children from being raped.
It protects your family from being raped.
Your,
your possessions being stolen from you and your things destroyed, it won't
totally protect you.
I mean, that can still happen, but for the most part, it keeps us from fucking anarchy
where everyone's just going around reaping, killing, murdering, robbing everyone else.
And if that really sounds good to you, well then let's let everybody get away with shit
because once people start figuring out they can get away with shit, society breaks down. That's what fucking happens. If you look at countries like Somalia that used
to have a functioning government at one time, I think they're coming back, but you know,
they broke down. There was so much different government corruption and embezzlement and
bribery and scandal and everything. And it just suddenly became a free for fucking all because no one gave a shit
about the rule of law and how important it is that there is a fairness in our
society that no one is above the law.
So take that into matters.
Don't let your politicians get away with stuff.
The freedom of speech was given to you for a reason to protest,
to be critical, to be analytical of your leaders, your politicians. It doesn't matter if you voted
for them or not. It means that you have the power to keep them in check, to speak to power and say, no, you are not fucking King. You are not tyrannical and you
cannot do whatever you want. And you are not above the rule of law. And the same rules that apply to
me apply to you. And, uh, that's probably a great way to end the show. So I would encourage everyone
to focus that if you have children, teach them about the Constitution.
Maybe don't sit down tonight with fucking Dr. Seuss.
Maybe sit down and read him the fucking Constitution, the Bill of Rights.
Some of these documents, why don't you teach them?
Do parents even teach kids to vote, the importance of voting?
I remember recently one friend of mine, you got a whole,
I've talked to their teenage son and I'm like,
uh,
you're 18 though.
You're going to go register to vote.
This is one of the most important things you could do.
Uh,
give a shit.
I'm like,
wow,
way to go.
Great parenting there.
Great.
You raised another child of apathy who will gladly sell out,
uh,
the constitution and the Republic that
was built for almost 250 years for a fucking taco.
Way to go, man.
So proud.
You care about your kid's future?
Seriously?
Is that what you think you do?
Because you fucking failed.
Anyway.
So teach your kids about voting.
Teach your kids about being aware of politics and getting involved in politics.
Show them that you care about your future, their future, their grandkids' future.
And, you know, teach them right.
I'm not telling you which party to put them in or which sort of alignment to put them in.
But put them in a party where they're critical, where they're not lemmings.
And they're not just sitting around going, I voted for this guy. So if he wants to come over and rape my daughter today, that's okay.
He's a great president.
MAGA. He's a great president. Macca. Uh, uh, uh,
they exercise your rights because if you don't,
you'll fucking lose them.
That's the bottom line.
And that's my story.
I'm sticking to it.
Anyway,
guys,
thanks for tuning in.
Hope we didn't get too heavy for you guys, but, uh, you know, good conversation. I can have it. Anyway, guys, thanks for tuning in. Hope we didn't get too heavy for you guys, but
