She's a devoted child of God, wife, and mother who finds joy in exploring God's creation. Music speaks to her profoundly, offering a place of solace and reflection. Welcome to the show, Constance. How are you? Good. Hi, Chris. Thank you for having me. Thanks for coming. It's wonderful to have you as well. Give us any dot com's websites. Where do you want people to get to know you better?
Starting point is 00:02:53 Sure. So people can look at me online under constanceandre.com. and there's several pages there where they can just learn a lot about it. And so give us a 30,000 overview of your book, Resurrected Worth. So resurrected Worth was born after four car accidents in 16 months that I had to heal from, but it also allowed me to dig deeper and get to the root of trauma that had actually been in my life from a child. So I was basically challenged to dissect my life and heal it from the inside out, starting at the water. Four car accidents. That's wild. That's wild. Yes, I definitely felt targeted. Yeah, I think I had one like when I was younger, but yeah, those are things you usually want to avoid.
Starting point is 00:03:42 And they can be very damaging. And some of the ailments you can get from them last lifetime. I've got some friends that they're still suffering from 20 years ago. Some of the crashes they have. So at what point during, was it somewhere in these four accidents and spending time in hospital, where was it where you kind of got a clarity of moment and you said, I need to do something to heal myself? Initially, the first two accidents were in the beginning of, and I made significant progress, but was still struggling with nerve injury. And then May of 24, the third one, entered the picture, which brought in PTSD symptoms that
Starting point is 00:04:22 I didn't know at the time. And the fourth one really brought in PTSD symptoms. So it wasn't until during this phase, I would also hear from God. I'm very faithful. And he would give me one word at a time that I had to work on. And initially, the first word was anger. And anger is a generational sin in my family. It's something I've struggled with.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And I didn't know at the time, and I do know now, that anger is actually hiding a lot of emotions underneath the surface. So instead of being vulnerable, in dealing with my emotions, I would resort to anger. So as I would heal one piece or deal with one word when I was ready or when God seemed fit, he gave me the next word. So essentially, over the course of five years, I had 12 words to work through, which are the chapters in my book and I refer to them as roots.
Starting point is 00:05:12 There's anger, obedience, forgiveness, control, abandonment, rest, worth, emotions, boundaries, fear, triggers, and patience. So some pretty heavy topics. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And how do these words come to you? Did they just come from your mind? Did they just appear?
Starting point is 00:05:31 Were you maybe studying stuff and it just came to you? Sometimes it would be while I was mulling things over of trying to heal physically. Sometimes it would be an audible sound that I would hear. And that's, I know it to be God. I know how he speaks well enough that would just be a word. And often, especially when abandonment came in, I would argue it in my head actually. And I write about this in my book that I didn't believe I had abandonment issues.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I'm like, who do? I don't have an issue with this. Next, move on until I sat with it and actually thought through the process of people leaving you in your life, just whether it be family, whether it be a spouse, whether it be friends, you name it. Things happen. And it became very clear that actually I did suffer from abandonment wounds. It was processing all these words I was given, most of them audible, like from God that I had an issue and I needed to deal with. It wasn't until I had come through the thick of it and dealt with a lot of them that I was just reading Sean Johnson's book attacking anxiety and depression.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Really felt like the words were my own and actually understood the depression I was going through the panic attacks, the PTSD. like it was why I hadn't lost my mind. I wasn't some crazy lady. It just put a light bulb on things. And one phrase that really stuck out to me was that God was going to use my pain as his platform to heal people around the world. But the idea kind of came of should I write a book? And I'm an accountant by trade 30 years into it. And English is not my forte in school.
Starting point is 00:07:09 It was not my best subject. So writing a book was very foreign to me. Yeah. You and me, I still don't know. to put the commas and periods. Those are optional as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, I definitely learned a lot on the grammar side. That's for sure.
Starting point is 00:07:23 You're seeing the hell I put my editor through. They're just like, hey, where did you learn anything? And I'm like, I flunk second grade. I didn't really. It's a callback joke on the show. Anyway, the words that you used, I love these 12 words, correct? Yes. I love those.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Those are way more empowering the one I've been using. I've been using to improve the quality of my life. Let's see, lust, gluttony, greed. sloth, wrath, amphithe, pride. And yours sound like they probably would work better for improving my life, because these haven't been working out for some reason. Yeah. And they, for me, is like, I had to deal with my anger before I could even tackle forgiveness, right?
Starting point is 00:07:59 Like sometimes we say we forgive people, but we're still keeping score internally, or we have a vendetta, we want revenge, we want them to pay. We want someone held accountable for what happened to us. And I had to release that accountability and pass. it all to God and just live from what I was supposed to be, like who I was designed to be when I was born. Plus, I found that's much cheaper than buying the lie at Home Depot and a shovel, and probably much better for your long-term security. Yeah, I bet.
Starting point is 00:08:31 People have hurt you. But no, when you really understand trauma, we're all, most of us experience some sort of trauma. Some of it was, you could maybe say it was more impactful or bigger or more damaging than maybe other trauma. But a lot of times maybe throughout life we've experienced trauma and we don't deal with it. And it drags us. And some people, they don't figure it out till later in life when they can see enough of a pattern. I didn't deal with mine until I was about 50 and you could look back and be like, boy, there's a broken wasteland I left behind destruction.
Starting point is 00:09:05 It could be me. But the other thing you have is the PTSD. So I had a friend who, he was in a horrific car crash. that he barely lived from, they had to cut him for two or three hours out of the car and separate his body from the vehicle that impaled him. And so he was in pain the whole time because they couldn't give him medication. And most pain relief will thin your blood, I think, a little bit. And if you're bleeding out, that's not a good thing. And so he had to sit there in the car for two or three hours with the trauma of them, jaws of life, cutting him out of the car. I've seen the pictures, and they're
Starting point is 00:09:44 horrific. And of course, he had to be rebuilt with lots of steel and put back together. And one of the things he talks about is the PTSD. He suffers. Anytime he hears the sound of car metal and sounds something similar to those saws they use, the kind of man in the car, he has PTSD. And he has to deal with that. It really, it really triggers and sets him off just like a lot of our war veterans have PTSD. So it's a big deal. And I think it's something you have to represent. wrestle with most of your life, don't you? Yeah, it's definitely, it was a big learning piece. I'll be honest, I didn't understand why I had to understand the mental illness piece.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Steen on top of all the injury and the struggle and not being able to walk for almost 16 months. Like, it was a huge hurdle. And I learned through that whole process just how deeply our mind affects our nervous system, your body, the pain in your body. And I had to basically rewire my nervous system. And I took a subconscious mind course that taught me how to start. And one of the first things it teaches you is that you have to change up your routine. So for me, that meant driving slowly.
Starting point is 00:10:57 I couldn't speedwalk because that would trigger me. I had to walk slowly. I had to take a different route when I would drive to town. I would brush my teeth with my non-dominate hand. I would sit at a different place at the dinner table. Change the screen on my phone all the time or the password. always having something rotating that it wasn't just getting autopilot, right? Yeah, because those ghosts haunt you, right?
Starting point is 00:11:20 The familiarity of places and I've had, I've lost people, I lost my dogs, and living in that environment, you kind of have to change it up because you get triggered into so many different things, right? Yeah, for me, the biggest piece was being in a vehicle because every, every accident affected all sides of my vehicle. So even just sitting in the driver's seat, I couldn't be a, passenger, there was no way I had to be in control. And control is one of the things I weren't was a huge survival pattern for me. Like that was linked to a four-year-old trauma that occurred. But if my husband would drive, I was the worst backseat driver. It was better for our marriage and our family that I just drove. And but sometimes that control can really,
Starting point is 00:12:06 a lot of people do control through trauma response that they haven't, when they haven't dealt with it. And sometimes it can be very damaging to. relationships that can be damaging to interpersonal relationships and the need for control can really overwhelm if it's if you if you're I must control everything and we can't control everything in life so thereby it becomes a it becomes a challenge and that can impact your life in ways that you don't even realize where people have to control everything and and you're like this is really not fun people that have to control every single thing, right? And that's another reason you've got to address these issues and stuff. So you tell your story, would you call this book kind of a memoir?
Starting point is 00:12:52 Yes, it is. And I love that you have these 12 words that you laid out. They sound much better than, like I said, the ones I use. And it sound like they're going to lead you to healing as opposed the ones I use. But so now how long you, you do some stuff where you work with people. Tell us about some of the offerings you do on your website and how you help people in the ways that you found and helped yourself through God. Sure. I offer faith-based transformational healing with coaching, like going through what I've gone through, the lived experience, and for me, some of the most impactful healing
Starting point is 00:13:30 that ever happened was with Christ-centered EFT tapping. Are you familiar with EFT tapping at all? Yeah, we've had a number of people on the show about that, yeah. Yeah, that was definitely one of the biggest game changers to help pull me out and calm me down with the PTSD symptoms, especially because as soon as I was sit in the vehicle, I would just get tense, right? Learning the tools, walking people through it, the steps where to start, because when you're in the thick of it, you don't see those things. You need the guidance and you need someone on the outside looking in that's been there that can see where to start maybe to actually help you. Yeah. So that's why I offer the coaching. And then I also offer speaking, speaking to events, women's retreats, churches, just businesses, any recovery centers, stuff like that, where we just
Starting point is 00:14:18 talk about truly healing and what it takes to heal, not just mask the symptoms and take pharmaceuticals, but digging the root out and let's get to the nitty gritty and let's start truly transforming and healing. Yeah, truly transforming and healing. That's what we want to do. And the sooner you can do it, the better. I always joke, people always ask me, what would you say on Facebook, what would you say to your teenage self or your young self in your early 20s? And I'm like, go to therapy. And people are always a little surprised by that. And I'm like, yeah, if I went to therapy, I'm going to clean up some of the mess I made before I made it.
Starting point is 00:14:54 But, you know, this is the journey of life. Sometimes we got a, no one gives us an owner's manual. And that's why people like you and I write books so that we can help people with our journey and tell our stories. And then there's other people that either they are looking for a blueprint to get out of the same mess as we got into, or they meet inspiration and know how to carry things out or they learn how to avoid them in the first place. That's the beauty of sharing these stories and getting them out there. So people can go to your website, a resurrected worth, and they can hire you for speaking. You've got several awards there here. I don't know if you want to plug some of your awards that you've gotten and coaching.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Sure. So I have won five awards, the International prestigious Hope Book Awards. I was nominated for author of the year in two categories, and I won three categories. And then I was, I also earned the Chrysler Book Award and the Christian Excellence Book Award, the International Christian Book Award. And the last one that came in was the International Impact Book Award. named as a distinguished author. So that was pretty huge for me. Yeah. Congratulations. Lots of awards. Lots of awards. Changing people's lives, affecting them, making their lives better.
Starting point is 00:16:14 And how long have you been doing this with the coaching? Just since May 24th. Oh, cool. And who's your client look like? Is there a certain income level they need to have, a certain aspect of them? Who's your ideal client? Imagine people that are faith-based, maybe. And even people maybe that are just searching, people, any person, I don't discriminate against anyone, right?
Starting point is 00:16:36 I definitely do bring faith in. So if that's something that you're definitely not into, I wouldn't be your person. But yeah, sky's the limit. Sky's the limit. And so they can reach out to you and you offer on your site, how do they, how do they onboard with you or communicate with you to see if there's a fit between the two of you and you want to take them on as a client? So on the coaching page on my website, there's a 15-minute discovery call that's free that we can just meet and greet and just talk a little bit, see what we're looking at. And I'm a firm believer that first impressions speak very loudly. And I think that's a two-way street.
Starting point is 00:17:14 So sometimes you're just not a fit for each other, right? And that's what the discovery calls for. But if you already know that you think we'd be a fit, there is options of three different coaching packages or sessions to plug into and book. And yeah, then away we go. Now, what are some problems you see most people coming to you with? Are they similar? Or is there a popular topic that people are trying to overcome that work with you? A lot of them would be similar to the words I've spoken on, you know, like whether it's anger issues, trauma, problem dealing with her emotions.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Fear, fear is huge, control is huge, perfectionism. And I dare say that if you have an issue like me, I had an issue with control and perfectionism, self-reliance. And those are all survival patterns, performance-based results, right? It was on achievements. And I really learned that that was survival to keep me safe. I didn't like change. Change was scary. So I would do everything I could to just stay safe.
Starting point is 00:18:19 And those four things helped me stay safe. So if anyone is struggling with any one of those four words, I nearsay we got some work to do at the root level. If you truly want to live in freedom and live your life to the fullest. Sometimes we're always striving and we're striving to prove our worth. And we can strive for 20 years of being the best of the best and climbing the corporate ladder. And at the end of the day, you can make millions even. And there's something missing inside.
Starting point is 00:18:46 And it's because we haven't dealt with the root. Lots of miserable rich people. There's so many people even when I grew up poor. I even thought when I got money that it would fix all of my problems and I would become a perfect human being fully actualized and fully developed. But that's not how it works. Money is just money. It's just a tool and it doesn't help you fix yourself. You've got to do that.
Starting point is 00:19:12 That's your own self-work. Let me ask you this. You mentioned that a lot of people, they use control, fear, and a lot of these elements are tied together in this traumatized. child that we're dealing with inside of ourselves that we haven't resolved usually. And you said they're searching for safety or security or peace. And how hard is that to find in getting to that place and realizing that sort of peace, that sort of security and calmness comes from the inside instead of looking the outside? Some people are like, if I buy a new car, I'll be happy.
Starting point is 00:19:52 If I get the job promotion, I'll be happy. And there's so many of these external BS factors that you don't have any control of. Talk to us a little about that, if you would. Sure. Those are short-lived accomplishments. I think we've all been there. I've been there myself even. If I could just do this, life would be so much better.
Starting point is 00:20:10 And then you get there and it's on to the next thing and you're always striving, right? For me, it came to a point where I couldn't walk. Everything was falling apart around me. My body wasn't functioning proper. had a lot of injury with disc protusion, swelling on the spine, nerve injury. There was a lot going on, bulging discs. And when you're stuck with just your thoughts and your body's not functioning and you're a person that's used to be in control and performing and your mind is willing and your body is not, you, it was basically a perfect storm. I was self-destructing at that point.
Starting point is 00:20:47 There was depression that entered the picture at that point. And I had suicidal thoughts. I didn't want to let it. It was an all time low for me, right? Because I couldn't control anything. And that was the biggest hurdle was the control and the fear factor, the fear of how I would perceive if I wasn't performing, if I didn't earn the results, right? And I, for me, I had to surrender everything. I had to give up absolutely, but I fought that with everything in me.
Starting point is 00:21:14 It was like do or die with me giving up control. I'll be honest. It was a real struggle. It meant to be a hard thing because that's what you've kind of been using to protect yourself from all of this damage. And that's the only shield you know. And so anything else is like walking on a tightrope out someplace maybe you've never been to. Yeah, definitely felt foreign. And I recall that moment very clearly because I was self-destructing.
Starting point is 00:21:42 It wasn't good for my family. Everyone's walking on eggshells. And plus they thought I was a crazy lady because we have PTSD. in the mix and no one in my family actually knew how that affects a person. We're not trained on that. And what we look at someone just overreacting, we don't look at behind the scenes of what's actually gone on mentally with the brain and how it's not functioning and why it happens. So giving up all of that control and surrendering it to God, I was just laying there pleading,
Starting point is 00:22:11 like wanting to die pretty much, just take me out of this world. And I just handed it all over. And there was a lot of emotion and a lot of tears. the biggest hurdles for me upon giving up control was actually dealing with my emotions because I grew up in a home where you don't talk about what happened to you. It's like you put on that facade, you just look tough, got it all handled. But the more I would bury it, the more, I have a visual in my book of a heart being choked out of all these roots that were strangling the heart that it couldn't actually function. And as I worked through my roots and dealt with my,
Starting point is 00:22:49 those words like anger, control, abandonment, those things, it's like my heart could actually thrive a little bit. There was pieces that came to life. There was healing that was like everlasting healing, not just let's take something that just covers up the surface. It was true healing. But I have to go places that hurt. And I think so often in, we live in a world where let's just keep busy, we got to do stuff. We got to like look all together. So to actually fall apart. And for me, I had to relive some of that trauma that happened as young as four years old. And it was a really long few months of uncomfortable pain, basically physical, emotional. There's a lot going on, but it's all tied together. And if we really want to actually be free and live our best life, we got to do the work.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Yeah. That's an important thing to recognize. If you are, if someone says something to you that triggers you, it's probably a truth that is a blind spot or catoma. If you have pain and you're avoiding dealing with maybe a memory or trauma or issue or whatever, you're just making more painful over a long term because you're just going to create more damage from that damage. And yeah, sitting down and facing yourself, looking in the mirror and living through the hard questions, they may be painful initially, but recognizing that that pain means that's the obstacle you need to go through. Ryan Holiday has a book that I love called The Obstacle is the Way Through or something like
Starting point is 00:24:21 that nature. And it's rooted in stoicism. And it basically says if you, if those pain points are there, they're telling you that this is something you need to resolve. This is a you problem. And so anytime I have something that happens to me that kind of triggers me or I get like what else is someone trying to say to me, I take a look at it and I go, there's a reason I'm feeling triggered, and it's probably because it's a truth, and I have a blind spot or a scotoma.
Starting point is 00:24:50 That's why you hire coaches. It's because we have a hard time seeing outside of ourselves. It's like fish don't see water. We don't see air. We don't even see our nose, but it's there, and we do see it, actually. We just choose to ignore it. And it's important to see the world around you. And with the help of a coach, you can help people beside you can go, oh, here's what's going on with you right here.
Starting point is 00:25:12 And sometimes you can't fix your. yourself. Kind of like the, what was that old fable of the lion with the thorn in its paw? Couldn't get it out and someone had to come along and help him. That's the way it works. But yeah, these are, if we, we would have a much better world if we could just fix everybody. I really wish in junior high or high school they would teach people about trauma and resolving it and a lot of other life skills that they don't teach in school. Balance a checkbook, how to deal with credit, how to buy a house. and how to manage your bills,
Starting point is 00:25:46 stuff like that that people need is true life skills. I really didn't need to know algebra. I really didn't need to. There are people that need no algebra that are future scientists or mathematicians or whatever space, people, they needed to know math.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Good for them. That's up their alley. For me, I'm just drooling in the corner and spittling all over myself was just pretty much my speed. I was a dumb kid, but I was smart enough to know I was dumb. and that I needed education.
Starting point is 00:26:15 So I went and made my own after high school. But yeah, these things can definitely haunt you. So as we round out the show, what maybe haven't I asked you about that we should tease out to the audience and let them know about some of the things you do and some of the words in your book? Just to recap a little bit, like my book helps you walk through 12 root issues.
Starting point is 00:26:36 And I'd nearsay everyone's life. Like some big words like anger, obedience, forgiveness, control, abandonment, rest, and what it actually means to rest, truly rest, not just sit down for half an hour and rest, and then worth. And a lot of people, me, I always had a lot of self-confidence. So I didn't actually connect that I didn't have self-worth because I had self-confidence. But they're not the same. It's like building a foundation or building the house on top of nothing.
Starting point is 00:27:08 But you got to have the self-worth to have the self-confidence, too. right and for me when I dialed into healing my worth it was linked to an identity wound and I read this book called soul care and Dr. Rob Reimer states a very vividy for me he said that there's a hole in our bucket and when I'm a very visual person so when there's a hole in the bucket people can give you affirmations you can have the best of the best in jobs performance a loving spouse but you just feel empty, it's leaking out. And that's because that identity wound of damage that happened to us as a child was never healed. And living in highly critical environments, not dealing with our emotions or even knowing,
Starting point is 00:27:54 because that wasn't talked about when we were kids. Like, I don't think our parents even know how to deal with things. It was just sweeping under the rug and move on. And there's a lot of damage that comes by sweeping things under the rug and not dealing with things. Oh, yeah. Whether it's relationships, business. your marriage with your kids. It trickles down.
