Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi folks, Chris Foss here from thechrisfossshow.com, thechrisfossshow.com. Hey, coming to you with another great podcast, certainly appreciate you guys tuning in. We're at Cedia Show 2019, we're doing booth interviews. We're at booth number 2023, and I'm here with Jeff Balls, he's the product manager for Weatherhawk. How's it going, Jeff? It's going great. We're having a great show here at Cedia, and it's nice to meet you, Chris. Great. So what's your guys' website so we can take a look at that? So our website is just simply weatherhawk.com. Okay. And what do you guys do, and how do you do it? So we are a weather company. We manufacture weather stations, and these weather stations are able to integrate with different control systems to use that data to control different things
Starting point is 00:00:50 around the home all right and so you've got a number of different items here on display people can see when they come by the booth and these are some of your different weather station units and then so tell us more about what they control how they do it and all that good stuff. Okay, great. So our weather stations, they can be connected to the control systems through various ways, direct connect, wireless, or through an IP address. And then the data from the weather stations is collected within the control system. The control system is able to control fountains, blinds, different things like that, awnings.
Starting point is 00:01:30 If the wind picks up, the awnings can roll in. Different things like that around your home. You can also integrate it into the HVAC system, which allows you to get ahead of the game if the temperature starts rising throughout the day. It kicks on the AC and you're not chasing it throughout the day. Okay. And wow. So this is great for consumer homes. If I have automated shutters, coverings, windows, it'll take and work with the weather hawk to take and see what the weather's like, whether it needs to open the windows, close them, maybe how sunny it is, how hot it is. It'll control my fountains, water features,
Starting point is 00:02:12 irrigation, any of the sprinklers I want to take and do as well. So it'll save me money. I've used a lot of different things. I mean, not like the weather hawk, but I've used different things that, you know, they monitor the weather for you and they end up saving you a lot of money right they really do yeah and i mean the worst thing i have you know the thing i always hate is if i go outside and it's raining and the sprinklers are on and i'm like oh my god i always see how hot or hot yeah so this is really cool and it's it's really made for beautiful homes uh and and so you don't only work with consumers, but you also work with vendors who distribute your product and install it and things of that nature? We do.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Yeah, we have a large dealer base and they deal with the end user, help them get the stations installed and integrated into their home. And then they're there for support as well as we're there to add additional support as well. And it measures wind speed, directions, air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, solar radiation. That's good. I can know how much sunscreen I need to put on before I go outside. You can do that.
Starting point is 00:03:20 I sit by the pool. It's like you're going to need the SPF 1000 today, Chris. So there's that precipitation. It's by the bullets. Like, you're going to need the SPF 1000 today, Chris. So there's that precipitation. So this is really neat. So what's the difference between, say, like a unit like this and then this one here, the new 4000 series? Or this is the new 4000 series here. Correct. And there's this.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Do you want to run us through some of the differences? So this one over here, this is our signature series. This has been the backbone of the company since the company was started in 2003. We have one out back of the office. It's been running for 14 years. So these stations are industrial grade. They're built to last. They're not built to be replaced.
Starting point is 00:04:01 And they all come with an onboard data logger and battery. All the data is stored right on board the station. These are tipping buckets and they are actually used with the 4000 series. Our new 4000 series, this is our prototype. It's going to be coming out shortly we hope. So the sensor head is solid state. It has an ultrasonic wind sensor to measure your speed and direction. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:30 And then also barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity. It also has an onboard data logger. But this station, because of the newer data logger, we have additional options for communication. We can communicate through PoE directly to Ethernet, as well as cellular or RF, which is radio frequency. Wow, man. That's crazy different, all the stuff it does. Yeah, it's got some more features. So in parting, what more do we need to know about you guys and how you guys do it? Okay, well, most of our stations we keep in stock.
Starting point is 00:05:12 And so when you're ready to purchase, we can get them shipped out immediately. We offer free tech support. So if there's ever any issues that come up, we can help you with the initial installation as well as any problems that may arise later on down the road. We're simply just a phone call or an email away. And if there's any questions, you can reach out to us, and we're at weatherhawk.com. Sounds good. Well, thanks for coming by the show and having us.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Be sure to go to booth number 2023 if you're at the CD show 2019. Come by the Weatherhawk, check them out, or go online. What's the.com again, Jeff? Weatherhawk.com. There you go. All right, guys, thanks for tuning in. Be sure to watch our other CDS show coverage, and we'll see you guys next time.
